Okay so you know how in HTTYD Race to the Edge in the finale??? When Johann (Yoh-han) like gets frozen by the Bewilderbeast (aka the king of all dragons in HTTYD 2′s mother) What if he didn’t die??? What if he just got frozen and then some time in the future he unfroze and was alive and super confused.

What if that was the case? What if he did come back? What would happen? I’m hoping it was before HTTYD The hidden world so he comes back and there is still dragons around and some plot could happen. I mean if the creators wanted to go with this and make another spin off series I would not be complaining. OR since that new-ish show came out I think it’s called the Nine Realms? Maybe he comes back in that show. Though That does seem less likely.

Idk I think this is a cool theory that popped in my brain randomly Anyone have any thoughts on this??

The fact that the Httyd gang knows about the effect of dragon nip but they are never seen using it on any dragons throughout the franchise unless it's like a last resort or an emergency to stop extremely out of control, hostile dragons. They know that grass is like a drug for the dragons so they never use it against them even to try and train them. As if it is against their moral code to try the easiest way to tame any dragon.

Like, these kids know all these little perks about dragons that Hiccup learned in the first movie. The dragon nip, eels, moving spot of light, specific disabling scratch spots etc. And none of them uses these to befriend or train any dragons throughout the course of the franchise! Dragon nip is an emergency last resort for when they encounter a super aggressive dragon, eels are an absolute no, nobody used shiny laser light spot on any dragons post Httyd 1.

No, they befriend the dragons with trust. They'll only give a dragon scratches after asking permission that is telegraphed in their body language.

The riders respect dragons and there are so many little subtle things which show how they never treat these incredible amazing beings as if they are animals, they always treat them as individuals. As equals.

I love Httyd so much like you have no idea.

Seeing as how broken Stoick was after Valka’s “death” I don’t think it’s something he and others spoke very openly about, so I’d like to think that Hiccup’s friends really only had really vague knowledge of what actually happened to his mom.

Like, she died when Hiccup was a baby and the chief blames himself, they know nothing more than that.

So just imagine on day, Hiccup, who in his teenage years became comfortable talking about the subject, goes: “yeah and my mom was eaten by dragons”

Hi since it's aro-spec week I'd like to just highlight one of my absolute favorite things about httyd, from the viewpoint of an aromantic:

The importance it puts on platonic relationships.

The whole franchise is of course, centered around Hiccup and Toothless' bond. They're friendship is from the beginning built on unconditional trust. They care for each other so much. They are best friends, hey mean everything to each other and have a bond nothing else (even romantic relationships) could ever rival.

(I could say so much more about them honestly but it's all probably been said before by someone better at articulating their thoughts so whatever)

Another aspect I love is while there are romantic relationships and plots, they're not shoved in the audience's faces. Other than certain episodes dedicated to Hiccstrid's development, it's mostly just, there. Neither the story nor the characters' lives revolve around it and it's honestly a bit refreshing.

Hiccup and Astrid very clearly value they're friendship. In the episode they got together, what Hiccup said to her very clearly implied how important to him she is, and he'd be fine even if they weren't romantic partners, as long as they can still be with each other.

And that's so special to me.

Like, it is not something you often see in media. And even when they do start dating, they primarily put their friendship first—and not just with each other, like there's a whole rtte episode basically dedicated to why they need to value their friendships just as much as they value each other.

And of course, the friendship between the dragon riders as a whole. As much as they fight, and despite their actions towards Hiccup in the past, they all clearly care for each other immensely and unconditionally. It's so unfortunate that they're just side characters in the movies, I really wish they're friendships got more of a spotlight but at least we have Rob and Rtte.

(Imo it does a very good job making these characters relatable whether you feel romantic attraction or not.)

language barrier is real y’all, and I freaking love everyone’s lil headcanons on how everyone slowly learns each others languages ( @bignostalgias in particular had an awesome brain vomit moment where jack and hiccup communicate through gestures, touch, drawings UGH it’s perfect)

Whether it’s just sitting together, loving gazes, soft conversations, they’re communicating and that’s all that matters

Also I feel that hic would especially connect to others with prosthetics, even without words there’s an unspoken understanding of “yeah you get it”

In love with how the gang interacts with one another's dragons.

Like, these dragons are their friends too just as much as their own are.

Tuffnut will give Toothless high fives and talk to him, Astrid will bring Hookfang fish and laugh with him at Snotlout and they'll give each other's dragons nicknames and communicate with them like friends and Hiccup will be sassy at Barf and Belch and he loves all dragons so so much but especially the ones he bonded with first and they're so close to him and one of the riders will look after Meatlug if Fishlegs is unavailable and share a look with Toothless when Hiccup is being stupid and they'd get so protective of Hookfang, Tuffnut will tell them bedtime stories and Snotlout will vent to them and Hiccup treats them like one would humans and Fishlegs will infodump about something to them and Astrid will give them The Look™️ that she gives her friends if they're being stupid and Ruffnut will involve them in her prank plans and they all talk to one another's dragon like those dragons are their best friends and any of them would recognize one another's dragons even in hoards of wild monstrous nightmares or nadders or gronckles or zipplebacks

I'm just so normal about the gang and their dragons.
