June 1, 1922 Home, Sweet Home by Harry J. Tuthill: "When George Describes His Friends, You Sympathize with Their Wives"
Hey, remember when I introduced this sometime last month with a promise of extra comics I didn't originally clip? Turns out I forgot about that. Anyway, here once again (and actually here for good now) is Home, Sweet Home, the comic that would eventually become The Bungle Family. Have fun with century-old interpersonal gossip/jokes about domestic abuse!
[ID: George Bungle, a tall thin fellow with glasses, slicked-back hair and a mustache, walks into his house and takes off his fedora. His wife, Jo, a younger-looking woman with her dark hair up in a bun, looks at him. /end] George: I saw Beverly Highfoot to-day. He's bought a moving van. Every time his wife's people finds out where he lives, he moves. Smart guy, eh? Jo: He may be smart, but no one who ever SAW him would suspect it.
[ID: Jo stands impassively with her hands behind her back. George stands in the open bathroom doorway, rolling his shirtsleeves up. /end] Jo: I didn't believe a man could be as silly as he looked until I heard him talk. George: You mean the way he joked about matrimony? Well, that baby has got reason for going pessimistic. He's been married three times.
[ID: George stands by the bathroom sink, his hands at his side in a sort of shrug. His right hand reaches for the faucet. /end] George: He claims he can't get along with women because he hasn't got a quarrelsome disposition. Jo: Ha! Ha! Do you suppose that marriage is serious to a man like that?
[ID: George stands in the bathroom doorway, drying his wet hands on a hand towel. Jo turns away from him in surprise. /end] George: Serious? My word! A coupla times, it came near being FATAL to him.

Gorod 8 35/.. to 10 40/.. F- to Chwalinsk [Chvalynsk] tea 27
at 9 5/.. one of horses slips in a hole in the snow and falls – no worse – at 8 ¼ village better than the last with neat church porch entrance to clocher west, thence to nave, then square tower church and porch and door to this square tower church on the side towards us and the street (i.e. south sides) – Since Fedorwna (at 8 5/..) high ground more or less distant (left) pine and oak-copse wooded – Reading Geography dictionary of Russia till 9 10/.. – then thinking loosely of attempted a cross but in vain – at Iwanowskoje [Ivashevka] at 10 43/.. poor little village – A- and I left the carriages soon after arriving and walked forwards 20 minutes perhaps a verst beyond the village till 11 10/.. Gross had had charge of the thermometer – R- only 5° on the snow at the Station house – quite summer! at 11 20/.. nice village and nice wooden church with clocher (west) and one middle 8tagon – a long neat house in the village with its sides made additionally warm and strong by having an extra half tree inside the logs the flat part inwards, the round turned outwards so as to block the joining seam of the 2 logs – the 1st instance of this kind I have observed - neat and strong looking – at Sysran [Syzran] at 12 22/.. at the post and ordered horses – then drove forwards to the auberge traktir to breakfast and alighted at 12 ½ - a poorish little place – a man with bread to sell at the door as not unusual in these cases – our little breakfast room upstairs was next to a liqueur shop, all the decanters and bottles of liqueur etc. arranged in the window – they gave us sourish cream –paid 25silver k. off from Sysran [Syzran] at 2 50/.. of which we have not see much – not many – hardly saw one good house – but all good common houses a few of them boarded over with smooth boards very neat tho’ nothing pleases me better than the neat loghouses – some good-looking churches – passed a picturesque old clocher – 2 retiring square stories surmounted by 2 8tagon ditto and painted roof – handsome looking monastery on the other side the river Sysran [Syzran] from which the town takes its name – direct to the Volga and drive all along it this stage – right bank high – wooded – villaged – broken into deep clefts as before – very picturesque – pass a little port or 2 and drive close under the frozen up shipping –
at Naianowka at 4 55/.. – ten minutes after turning up the steep from the Volga neatish wood yellow with red roof, little church – clocher (west) with porch and church tower with ditto as before the clocher and church tower both 8tagon with 8tagon pointed spire roofs – largeish 2 or 3 streeted village but nothing beyond an Isba (cottage) – off at 5 25/.. – many cattle out today and yesterday in the little willow-wattled off farm-yards many of them so near the waters’ edge are they not flooded in the spring? a few sheep, and many rough cows and still more rough horses often not shod at all, and generally not the highfoot – some of these wattled yards stack and thrashing yards and in 2 of them a man winnowing corn by throwing it up in the air with a large hollow wood shovel – drive down again upon the Volga and drive along its channel formed by willow-covered banks and oak-copse covered islands – all a sort of yellow marly sand – perpetual villages on the right bank beautifully, parkishly, oak-wooded – islands – pass one covered with an oak forest down to the waters’ edge – now at 5 50/.. all along the river – one post house at Fedorowna (the village apparently a tolerably good one?) a real Isba, only one little room – lighted up – our front window glass being loose (reglazed at Liskovo [Lyskovo] and then pretty frozen not dried fast for the time) was taken out before breakfast – broken at Sisran [Syzran] and the new pane too small and taken out again soon after getting of Sisran [Syzran] – very fine day and evening and night – off from Fedorowna at 8 35/.. and at the post at Chwalinsk [Chvalynsk]  at 10 40/.. then ½ hour wanted driving about the straggling town for a nights’ lodging – at last unwillingly admitted pri. 7/. at a traktir – the house full of shubed nosy singing peasants – but these were going away – 2 dirty rooms one opening into the other for us all – It was now after 11 – we were to be off at 6 – dirt and noise, and 7/. to pay – would rather go forward – ordered tea and horses – tea till 12 40/.. – glad to be off at

I like how Go's eyes are animated when scorbunny evolves. His eyes were also like this during the bulbasaur episode too. I just like the little animation in his eyes
They put so much effort into showing how amazed, shocked and impressed he was at Hibunny evolving, he clearly loves him so much, he’s just so akward with social cues and all ;V; Gosh it hurt to not see Rabbifoot not highfoot Gou…
Cough but yes, that animation bit was beautiful. And showcases what I said. Man I’m quite excited for what’s to come!

Not to get confused by smoke tests used in software testing, the smoke tests I'm talking about is the technique discussed in lean startup to validate a startup idea before developing the product.Do you think they are useful for validating startup ideas? Useful for determining demand from potential users, getting to know who they are? What are the mis-understandings that a smoke test can present? Can the metrics be mis-leading? What problems can we face when utilising a smoke test?I'm promoting by emailing a large group of people as well as advertising in a highfoot fall venue. The metrics I'm tracking are:Landing Page -> Installs -> Early adopter SignupsMost important metric for me is the percentage of people who read the value proposition on the landing page and decide to install the app. The landing page does not mention that the app is not ready yet, so the user thinks they'll actually download the app if they click the button. The button redirects to a page which says 'we'll be ready soon, please signup to get notified and become our early adopters'. I'm not putting too much importance on the early adopter signup conversion. My threshold of determining whether the idea is worth working on was 20% - 20% of people who visit the landing page end up downloading the app. Till now, the install conversions is hovering at 36%. Do you think this number is a good indicator of user interest? Can it be misleading in any way?
