i’m watching the new chicken run movie w my family and the fun thing abt the casting choices is that they got hilda from hilda and eugene from tangled so its like i get to experience a universe where hilda still has a dad but he’s competent this time

I'm only 2 episodes shy of finishing Season 3 but I REALLY need to get this out my chest before I continue...
The Forgotten Lake is by far my favourite episode of the season—I'm really positive that this may be (or already is) THE BEST episode of the season (and heck there's still an hour long finale for me to get to but EVEN THEN)
A LOT to unpack in that episode but a Johanna-centric story is categorically one of the best thing to happen to this series and I didn't think they could make us love Johanna more than we already did but my god she is just PERFECT HHHHHH <333 Nothing could've prepared me for getting to see all the sides we've seen of her in this ep from best mum as she always was, to talented artist to survival-horror protagonist I'm losing my mind over how much I adore this woman 🥺

i wanted to put out there how i like that the first 2 seasons of hilda are somewhat episodic, though they have hints to the next episode that when first watching through, can feel like throwaway bits.
untill you watch the next episode, of corse.
and i also like how in season 3 the still kind of keep that up, though the first episodes and the last ones are less episodic and more lore - heavy

Spoilers for Hilda seasons 2, 3 and the movie
I really really appreciate how detailed Hilda is. Like how something that happened a movie and a season ago is referenced. In s2 ep5 at the end Victoria is sent to some unknown land, which in s3 ep8 turns out to be the Fairy Isle.
In the movie, a lot of very small things that are really easy to miss re-appear. Like in the s2 finale Frida trips and hurts her ankle, and in the movie David and Frida mention her leg being hurt. Habits of the trolls are explained in the movie are briefly shown in the s2 finale. And there are just so many tiny details in s2 finale that are revisited in the movie
i love this show sm i could talk abt it sm

back to Hilda (I’m obsessed again oops). The way it drops hints about things is great. Like the massive beast in the first season being mentioned in the Tide Mouse episode and then continuing to pop up. The weather lady being eerily good at predicting the weather. And don’t forget the biggest and most important one: that maybe trolls aren’t monsters at all. Which truly comes to a head in the movie.
but I also like that we see so clearly Hilda’s mum try to support her. She can’t see alpha at all, but just trusts Hilda that he exists. She believes Hilda about the great raven before seeing it. And what’s important about this is that it’s so heart breaking to see them struggle in the second season. With her mum struggling to support her wild and adventurous nature but wanting to keep her safe. Ugh so good.

I love this scene so much. That front roll was entirely unnecessary - it achieved nothing. She’s just That Bitch

I think they should give Hilda a Bat'leth. It would be fun.

So I got around to watching the first 2 episodes of Season 3 of Hilda (I'm watching episodes in batches while my finals are still happening) and for some quick spoiler-free thoughts:
This genuinely feels like a completely DIFFERENT show, yet still the same one we know all at once, which feels like a funny and obvious thing to say since it's been well established before just how much this series was going to change in this season (like with the characters and settings and such) but I really wasn't expecting just how immense the atmosphere of this show would shift for me right off the bat because of the changes—and I mean this in a good way of course! It's a thrilling, deservingly comfy start and the setup for things to come just has me even more enthralled and reasserted my hopes up for the season <33
