Rarity's family! After doing Applejack's a few months ago, I realized I should probably draw out every other mane six's family just for funsies. More ramblings below :)

I always found Rarity's family so fascinating, considering her dream of Canterlot and the royal family clashes with how both of her parents seem like those who live in trailer parks down by the river. Perhaps Cookie Crumbles had a life in the gourmet baking spotlight before settling down with a retired hoofball athlete who now indulges in fishing and watching the game.
Cookie Crumbles, or better known as Betty Bouffant, rose to fame through multiple cooking shows, and her line of easy bake pans and tins. Her name is known all through the baking community and stay-at-home mothers, all aspiring to reach her level of fame. This fame has led Betty to meet Magnum during a baking charity run, and the two hit it off like 'celery and peanut butter', as Cookie tells Rarity. As if it made much sense.
The two became easy friends, and it eventually blossomed into a romance. Magnum, a legend in the hoofball scene, proposed to Betty right on the field during half-time. It may not have been the most romantic, but Betty did not mind one bit. Years passed, and upon the announcement of a pregnancy on it's way, the two decided to retire, change their names for anonymity and focus on their little family.
Rarity and Sweetie Belle take after their parent's ambitions, and although Rarity loves her parents, often times they can be... Uncivil. They certainly do not understand the intricacies of the fashion world or pop culture in general. But, well-meaning, Cookie Crumbles helps her daughter invest in a small boutique in Ponyville with what money she earned from baking, while Hondo Flanks takes Sweetie Belle out for choir practice out in the city. Occasionally, the Belle family meet together to bake and enjoy the Superhoofball game, much to Rarity's disdain. But she wouldn't change it for the world.

Hey, I just want to talk about the fact that Rarity and Sweetie Belle's parents show up in season 2, say they are going on vacation, and then we never see them again besides in the background during the finale episode. Can we just talk about the fact that it seems like they just abandoned Sweetie Belle to be raised by her older sister.
This seems more like an opinion post on its own so I’m not quite sure what you would like me to contribute? /lh Except that I don’t fully agree, I’m not saying Rarity and Sweetie have GREAT parents but they have made cameos in a few other episodes (the dad in One Bad Apple; Inspiration Manifestation; A Hearth’s Warming Tail; all from the wiki). So to say they never showed up again until the finale is technically inaccurate even though those appearances are few. We’ve been shown that Sweetie does live at her parents’ house and that Rarity spends plenty of time apart from Sweetie Belle in turn. So, I think at most she’s babysitting a lot but that’s different from Sweetie being abandoned and Rarity actively raising her. Imo she doesn’t seem to take on the pseudo-motherly role that Applejack sometimes takes with Apple Bloom so I think they have plenty of room to just act like normal siblings. I think Sweetie and Rarity’s parents are around, the writers just forgot about them, but all signs point to them just existing offscreen.

Rarity Redesign
Rarity is one of my favorite ponies from the Mane Six! I love this design I have for her... I am a sucker for dappled coats on equine characters!
Rarity Belle comes from a long line of Unicorns, all be it, with a few earth pony genes thrown in the mix. Not that she minds though. Her family can trace their lineage back to Eastern Unicorns of Neighsia, giving her a sleek and elegant look that differs slightly from the Traditional Unicorns of Canterlot. She loves her parents, Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, and her little sister, Sweetie Belle, but she is a very independent mare and moved out on her own the moment she could. She opened her first boutique, Carousel, in Ponyville and saw a lot of success. She takes her job as a fashion designer very seriously. She never thought she would have much of a time for a family herself, as she just was too focused on her work.
Rarity identifies as a cis-mare, and after a lot of soul searching, identifies and aromantic and bisexual.
Her cutiemark is a shimmering golden thread, looped through a precious gem with a sewing needle. It just suits her love for sewing and creating, and penchant for finding gems!

So I haven't finished the ship drawings yet (still working on the CheesePie one) because I've found myself with a cold, so I decided to finish this in the meantime.
I honestly love their canon designs, I just wanted to give them a bit more variation in body type and to add more horse inspired coats.

design notes
overall differences: i gave her a "classic" unicorn tail and also colored her hooves blue. she also has earrings that match her cutie mark
filly and pre-show rarity are fairly similar to canon. although here, rarity is trans. she realized it very young and has been taking hormones since she was a preteen
mid-show rarity gained horn markings after using the elements for the first time. she also has started growing a beard
she was pretty frustrated that it kept growing even after so many years of transitioning, but eventually accepted it and loves styling it
future rarity has her big fancy cloak, of course. she lets her hair gray, much to everypony's surprise, but she likes the way it looks. her beard continues to grow, and over the years, her horn slowly, slowly begins to curve
it's so slow that nopony notices until her and twilight are looking back at old photos. curved horns are so rare that it sparked a Research Project into rarity's genealogy.
surprise! she's descended from starswirl, which explains her beard and horn.

So in my Equestria Girls AU, Rarity and Sweetie Belle’s parents (Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles)belong to a country club. They have a lot contentions they use to help their daughters. Such as getting Sweetie Belle the best vocal coach and acting gigs. Getting commission work for Rarity and showing off her designs. Also take any chance they get to brag about how talent their daughters are.
Unfortunately for Sweetie, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon’s families also belong to the county club. Worst of all, their fathers play golf together she loves

Sweetie Belle is a Unicorn Pony who lives in Ponyville. While she normally lives with Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles, she has been known to sleep over Rarity’s house often enough to have her own room. Sweetie is a very optimistic girl who is willing to help others. This is what led to her being the bearer of the Element of Kindness for a time and eventually being the reason behind her Cutie Mark. As a founding member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders alongside Scootaloo, Sweetie’s goal was to find their cutie marks but is now to help others with their Cutie Mark Issues.
