i think i've found a way to settle the fenthur vs forthur discourse

forthur = in theory, not in practise

fenthur = in practise, not in theory

what it boils down to is that forthur, although not canon, is a great ship seeing as the characters are well matched and it's an easy explanation for everything being camp in the tv series and why ford chose to save arthur of everyone he could have chosen. however they fall out later in the books and ford can be a bit of a git so it doesn't really work out all that well. however it is good in fanfiction.

fenthur on the other hand has potential to be a good ship. the characters make sense together given that they both know theres something wrong with the Earth, and that they both feel out of place there. however, in my opinion, the ship doesn't work that well in canon. in So Long, every meeting we see them have, it's like a month of other meetings have come and gone offscreen. whether this is the case or not, i don't know, but if it isn't and those are supposed to be all their meetings ever... call me a slowburn reader but i don't think that makes for a great ship. but, like i said, it has potential and is good in fanfiction.

therefore both ships are equally good and bad in different ways, and can suck a bit in canon, so you can ship whoever in fanon

I was rambling about what dogday would look in luminous au, while feathers slept.

And i thought, what if, the critters have like a human disguise, so they could hide in plainsight. And would sometimes lure people to their cabin to have their human feast :)

Most of the critters have different methods to hunt their prey like,

Hoopy likes to chase her prey in the woods. jumping from tree to tree or on the ground right behind her food. And in her human disguise, she is seen as a very hyper person, and very competitive when playing with some people(or the critters)how she hunts in her human form is pretty straight forward, she hunts the rumbustious people that come near the woods by acting as a lonely rabbit, practically luring her victim to their maze like forest. Where the fun begins.

Bubba is the one mostly using his human form, loves drinking coffee in some cafes and reading books. When he is on the hunt, he drugs his victims, and brings them to the basement in their cabin, at those times the critters leave to wander the woods, annoyed or scared by the loud screams and laughter coming from the basement.

Kicken being the cool dude, loves to get attentions, is mostly out impressing them girls(if ya know what i mean:)) in his human form. And when he hunts he mostly tags along with hoppy, being a watcher from the tress, if a prey ever escape, he's there to snatch them back.

Crafty barely uses her human form, as she is always at their cabin mostly painting or drawing. Bubba is the one buying her tools and paints when she runs out. But, there is a specific red that she always wants, human red. Sometimes bubba's victim's blood is used, or when she is outside the cabin, she search for poor souls, unfortunate enough to be in their woods.

Picky is always seen in food stands with multiple food in her hands, bubba is always there to stop her from going to get more even when she still has her hands full of foods. She is the butcher of the critters, and humans that is given to her is sliced and dice to look like normal meat, and is store in their cooler. For future use.

Bobby loves to make connection with people, she loves to get touchy with most people, and on midnight, where there is no people left, she hugs her victim one last time. To the point where their ribs break having an agonizing death. She remembers every victim she kills, and she always say she loved every, single, one of them.

Catnap doesn't like using his human form, but when his god orders him to kill some certain people, he will obey. He only comes out at night, mostly stalking his prey. He loves using his red gas to play with his victims, making them more terrified of him. He also love playing hide and seek with his victims.

Dogday is the only one who tries to help the victims escape(good or bad, he doesn't really know)because of this, his hands and legs are bound. Giving him less movements to guide the victims. But even he isn't safe, there are mini critters sleeping inside him. If the victim makes a bad move like, shouting at dogday, or shoving him, they will wake up. And they too are very hungry. So, sucks to be you then. Your gonna be eaten while your still alive.

The critters have a difficult relationships with each other, they love dogday, but him interfering in their hunts is irritating to them,(but they kinda got used to it. )

I got their design, but i wanna make the human design too. Here have dogday :))

I was bored so I made a random swap AU for Portal by assigning each character a number, then going through the list of each character while using a random number generator to assign them a new role. Here we go:

Space Core is the human test subject, Rick is in the place of GLaDOS, Wheatley is Ratmann, Ratmann is the CEO of Aperture, Chell is in the place of Wheatley.

Now time to think of how this would go, I’m just gonna call Rick RickDOS and Space Core Kev for the time being:

RickDOS prioritises making his tests as cool as possible, with extra emphasis on cool stunts and near-misses.

Chell was created to keep RickDOS focused on actual tests, rather than easily distracted by explosions, which is why she’s naturally extremely stubborn and determined. Didn’t work.

Wheatley went mad due to isolation, having no one to talk to except for Hoopy the Hoop, who he carries around with him. Rather than draw on the walls, he hacks random computer monitors or even turrets to display his messages, or leaves recordings of his incoherent ramblings.

Kev is a walking source of destruction, incredibly unpredictable and easily distracted. RickDOS loathes this.

Don’t really have any ideas for Ratmann yet.

OH HI IT’S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AGAIN. Also Penelo, looking less happy about this situation than I am.

Ghis: I see you’ve been out walking without the company of your cortege… Lord Larsa.

We finally get Lamont’s actual name: He’s the youngest son of the Archadian emperor. Vayne used to be the second youngest, but their two elder brothers are no more: I’ll get back to that significantly later.

Ghis: We caught her wandering out of the mines. You must take care with such undesirables about. Penelo: I was kidnapped— Ghis: Silence!

This is hilariously awful behavior and I get the feeling he’s mostly just irritated Penelo interrupted his conversation with Ondore.

Larsa: If it is a crime to wander on one’s own… then I, too, am guilty.

Larsa: Marquis. I trust that your estate can accommodate another guest?

Marquis: Why not?

Ondore mostly just seems amused, and quite possibly is trolling Ghis. 

Still, even with that scant information about Larsa’s brothers, we set a high bar for Shenanigans in House Solidor. This is an absolute pain for the Judge Magisters, who are technically the elite guard for the Imperial family.

Which I imagine is why Ghis sounds legitimately surprised when Larsa apologizes and promises to be responsible.

Larsa: Judge Ghis, I shall heed your counsel. I will not travel unaccompanied any longer.

Ghis: That was unexpected.

Of course it’s a front to make sure Penelo stays safe and let her know her friends are looking for her, but again, by Solidor standards this seems pretty damn tame. No one’s died or anything. If Larsa’s apparently just seen a random Dalmascan and decided “mine now!”, well, at least he’ll sit still for a few minutes.

Vaan: What’s Penelo doing? And what’s the deal with that Lamont?

The party catches up with the exposition I’ve already given. More dramatic ellipses happen, and I have no idea why the script is suddenly full of them during this cutscene.

Basch: Our purposes lead the same way: to Ondore. We must find means to approach him. Balthier: The Marquis is channeling money to organizations opposing the Empire. We’ll start there.

Basch reminds everyone he still wants to go talk to the Marquis. On top of the potential rumors about him funding resistance groups, he seems to be low-key trolling Ghis at this point, so he can’t be all bad, right? But how to get to him?

...And since this is my playthrough and my post I’m going to ramble about Ghis some more.

I mentioned briefly in an earlier post that when casting Archadian upper class characters, and particularly the Judges, the localization team tried to get people with significant background in theater. The hope was to get people who were familiar enough with delivering lines well outside of their day-to-day dialect with proper emotional weight. Doing voices for a dub is always harder due to the requirement of matching a meter set by a completely different language and generally requires a specific skillset, but the Judges would mostly be able to avoid that due to the helmets that they wear.

The gloriously named Mark Wing-Davey was one of the people who played the Judges, and he fits the background they were looking for. In fact, this is the only game he’s ever done a voice for, most of his acting has either been in theater or British TV, with one exception that geeks might be quite familiar with.

He is the original actor for Zaphod Beeblebrox in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and played the character through the entire radio play and TV series. Most people who notice his performance in FFXII are probably those who know him from that already. I had never listened to the radio until this year, for fear that it would be as full of cringe humor as the movie (spoilers: It’s not, and it’s delightful).

Let me tell you it is a trip and a half to hear the voice of this guy describing things as “hoopy” and saying “I am so hip I have difficulty seeing over my own pelvis.”

YKNOW ive thought about this before and its like, sure there’s characters i want to punch but they entertain me and i wouldnt want the story without them, so picking them would be just lying to myself. so im like…which character do i just find pointless, uninteresting, i dont see the point in them-kind of ‘least fave’. which one????

so yeah ok the answer to that is none of them i cant think of a single character that i go “you were unnecessary and i didnt enjoy what you brought to the story”

Tagged by the dubious @ myself, because I haven't seen a tag thing about for a bit and I’m just doofus enough to try and start one! 

Suggested operational instructions. Ramble on a bit about the seven things below. Tag about 7 folks you think might have fun with this.

1. Recommend a go-to comfort food.

I like to cook up some two minute noodles with lots of veg in the broth. It doesn't take too long to do and it’s healthy and slurpy.

2. You’ve been afflicted with a rare disorder of the language centers of your brain and can only ever speak in Shakespearean or Regency English. Which is it?

Humm. I’m going with Shakespearean because 1 - you can invent words and get away with it, and 2 - you can insult people in new and creative ways. Not that I get off on insulting people, but if you’re going to you may as well be creative about it.

3. Favourite footware and why?

I really like my steel cap boots. Comfy, warm, supportive and waterproof so I can splash in puddles and still have cozy feet. And the round toe always reminds me of Amestrian army boots, so I wear shoes like Hawkeye and Armstrong and that cheers me up incredibly!

4. Can you use chopsticks?

Mostly. Ate a bowl of chicken karaage with chopsticks today and only dropped a little bit on my shirt.

5. Share a favourite quote.

6. You’re sitting for a portrait artist. Watercolour, oils or a bronze bust?

Yeah... well... (What was I thinking with this??) I like the gentleness of watercolour and oils can have awesome luminescence. But I think I like the tactile quality of a bust.

Gosh, a tricky one. I survived an unexpected influx of inlaws today. Must be a good day!
