Another piece of Egyptian mythology trivia that I really like: There are a lot of stories (or, well, historiolas in spells) about Horus the Child almost dying of scorpion stings. Like, a lot. There’s so many.
And then as an adult he has seven scorpion wives. If you can’t beat them, marry them.

A prayer to Heru 🧿🌕☀️🦅
O Heru
Lord of the skies
Oldest and youngest of those who dwell in heaven
Creator, defender, son, avenger Avatar and helper of the vulnerable
Uniter of the two lands who dwells at the horizon
And makes the bright sky his home
Your left eye is the moon, your right eye the sun
Double-crowned son of Aset
Fighter of desolation who listens to the prayers of those who entreat him
Your mother leaned on you in her darkest hour, and so do I now in prayer
Glad-hearted king of humanity
Hear the plea of [NAME] your worshipper
With a kind heart please deign answer
And to my modest home please come closer

[05] -- HORUS
✦ TITLE: Lord Horus, Prince of Duat -- The God of the Sky, Midday sun, Protection, and Royalty
✦ SACRED ANIMAL: The Falcon ✦ DIVINE WEAPON: Pair of Khopesh ✦ NOTABLE EPITHETS: "Lord of the Horizon; The Son of Truth; He Who Brightens The Sky and Earth; Uniter of The Two Lands" ✦ PROFILE: https://deitiesproject.com/portfolio/horus/
----------
Lord Horus, the Prince of Duat, is the son and heir of Isis and Osiris; the nephew of Set and Nephthys; and cousins with Anubis.
While destined to become king in the aftermath of reclaiming his family's throne, the sky god Horus remains young in both experience and heart. Aside from training in his role as the heir, the falcon prince enjoys any chance of getting to know his divine peers and kingdom.
DEITIES x OC_TOBER -- Deity Profiles [Full Character Lineup]
----------
Ah yes our favorite designated chosen one hero of Egyptian myth /o/ Also a constant thorn in Set's side, and vice versa.
Horus is the secondary protagonist of the main plotline of DEITIES, and while he is considered a god of kingship in the mythology, I wanted to extend his prince-hood to give him more time to grow over the course of the story. Horus may be over 1800 years old at the start of the main plot, but he's considered young in the eyes of the pantheon; he's motivated to prove his potential as the king-to-be, and still has room to mature and gain more experiences.
I'm not sure which single fun fact to really share for Horus, but I can give a refresher about his character, since I know it varies a lot in the mythology:
There are many versions of "Horus/Heru" in AE mythology, and my version of Horus draws heavily from the likeness of Heru sa Aset "(Horus, Son of Isis"). I'd like to think that as the main story progresses, he matures and shifts closer to the persona of Heru-wer ("Horus the Elder"), but his character is one and the same in DEITIES.
Horus is partially blinded in his left Eye, and it was indeed because of Set -- I just haven't figured out the sequence of events and how intentional it was when it happened. His Eye was later healed and blessed by Ma'at, where it gained some additional abilities to aid Horus's perceptions (like the ability to see weak points and past injuries).
I haven't had the chance to draw many of Horus's other forms yet, and they aren't quite as numerous as Set, but he does have several states of being and shares syncretic states with other gods. One of them, ironically, is shared with Set (Antywey), but I'd like to revisit their design and some others in the future.

Do any of my fellow kemetic pagans know of some good info/posts on working with Horus/Heru the younger? I can’t seem to find much on him other than his mythology when I go to research him.
It’d be nice to know of some more modern experiences or hear from anyone that worships him what he’s like to have in your personal pantheon ☺️

It’s getting older now, but here’s a nostalgia piece I did for my design of Horus (from my old comic series Cycles of Duat). I wanted to see how much I’ve changed since I first drew him.
I’m proud of my progress from 2019 to 2022. Younger me would be proud.

Merytmwtheryt -> Sölulfr
For reasons that I will be keeping personal for the most part, I will be leaving the Kemetic Pagan path and moving to a more Norse-centered one. This means I won't be posting Kemetic-related things anymore. I'm very sorry if that's what you primarily follow me for! But for me it's time to move on to something else.
I will be adding all of my Kemetic tags to this post so you can see things about specific Kemetic deities or topics if you would like to.
Thank you to everyone who has joined me on my journey so far! It's been a pleasure, and I hope you stick around 💕

Prayer to Horus
Dua Heru-sa-Aset, dua Heru-Wer
Praise Horus the Young, Horus son of Isis, praise Horus the Elder, Horus King of Kings
You who bring us sunlight on this blessed day, You who defend your Father from the jaws of chaos every night
Praised be Your power, Your love, Your guidance
O King of Gods and Men, Lord of Light, Almighty Sun, Protector of All, Warrior of Duat, Ruler of South and North
In this blessed day, with snows in the north and warmth in the south, I sing Your praise, and ask Your blessings for me, mine, your devoted few and all who live in Ma'at under Your light
May the light of sun and moon guide us through the new year
I invite Your light into my home, for this day is Yours, amongst many others, and my heart sings Your song!
Dua!

(Sorry if I asked too many questions you can answer them only if you want to 😅)
Could you tell us more about Thoth and Horus, what is their relationship like? ( I remember seeing Set's and Thoth's, it was quite interesting)
In reference to this ask: “how do Set and [Thoth] get along?”
I think that Thoth and Horus have a similar mentor/mentee role that, in some ways, mirrored what Set had with Ra. Though this could partially be because Thoth helped support Isis's cause from the beginning, at least outside of the council's initial's lack of judgment. [...]
Thoth initially helped heal Horus as an infant, after the latter was bitten by a viper that slithered its way into his crib -- adapted from one of the myths that describe Set's early attempt to take Horus's life. Afterward, Thoth encouraged Isis to take Horus and raise him away from Set's influence; he knew neither of them could go against either Ra or the new king Set just yet, but advised Isis that if she was serious about her campaign against Set, she needed to ensure her and Horus's safety, first.
It's not until Horus is a little older -- preteens, maybe -- that he's formally introduced to Thoth -- who had secured enough footing to break ties with Set's kingdom and ally himself with Isis's cause. I think it's mostly from Thoth where Horus learned the inner workings of the pantheon and most of who's who (observationally; Horus would only meet them personally later), as well as how to better wield and control his magic.
Over time, Thoth served as an advisor to both Horus and Isis regarding the best strategies against Set, as well as an advocate for Horus's right to the throne and an enforcer of rules to several of their contests -- much to Set's chagrin. Thoth didn't do any of this to spite Set, though -- he doesn’t actually dislike Set, even though he disapproves of his approach. But his main reasons to firmly side with Horus’s cause were twofold:
Thoth is deeply connected to Ma'at (the concept and the goddess), on a higher level than many other deities. So he sooner realized the rule under Set was not inline with Ma'at's will for divine order.
Thoth developed a firm belief that Horus had a solid case for reclaiming the crown as Osiris's rightful heir, and could see Horus’s potential as a fair king.
As for how they see each other now following The Contendings: while Thoth spends most of his time as Ra's royal vizier and as the head of the reformed Council of Ma'at, he still offers Horus his guidance whenever the other seeks him out. He also helps delegate some of Horus's higher education with other gods to help prepare for his eventual kingship.
Horus, for his part, respects Thoth as both his ally and teacher. While he sometimes feels that Thoth can be a bit too formal or rigid (and he doesn't enjoy being on the receiving end of Thoth's lectures), Horus ultimately trusts his judgment, and he sees the God of Wisdom as an invaluable source of support.

(From research but also from my own workings with him. This isn’t meant to be strictly historical this is more for pagans wanting to work with him. There will be a lot of UPG or SPG)
Tumblr media
Anubis/Anpu/Inpu/Inpw (and some other spellings depending on where you look) :
-He is the jackal headed Egyptian god of mummification, funerary rites and a fierce protector of tombs and places where people are buried.
- a lot of stories have him as either the son of Nephthys and Set or the son of Nephthys and Osiris. I personally go by the mythology where he is the son of Osiris, then taken in by Aset and raised as an adopted son after the death of Osiris. He is fiercely loyal to his adopted mother and his father. As well as supportive of his half brother Horus (Heru-sa-Aset)
Tumblr media
What working with him is like
-He is a sort of Psychopomp deity for dead souls. Also in my experience can help bring you into meditations with other spirits safety (he’s guided me to a few of the other deities I work with now)
- He is a fierce protector. Big guard dog energy. Doesn’t usually have a huge temper until something threatens him or a follower of his.
-Most of the time he’s a very calm and patient deity. He will give space when you need it, and also be around when you need him too. He tends to put in the effort that you do. But if you can’t put in much effort he’s patient (just quieter maybe if you’ve backed away from him first)
- He is usually the first one to jump in to help when I’m going through something emotionally rough. It could be because he is my patron but I do feel like he is the type of deity to want to be there for, and comfort his followers/devotees.

How to know if he’s reaching out to you?
Best way to know is to confirm by tarot or your clairsenses if you have any. Or candle flame reading/other forms of divination.
If you’re looking for signs he’s popping up (this is rather morbid but so it goes with the god of mummification and decay) he tends to send roadkill to me. If you see a lot of extra roadkill on a drive to work/a regular route that isn’t usually there. That could be a sign. (I like to ask him to help guide their souls somewhere nice whenever I see roadkill)
Tumblr media
I think he’s an excellent deity for beginners and if you feel called to him I’d say go for it! I started with a simple candle dedicated to him and went from there!
