Ok idk if anyone else does this BUT I like to imagine an au where instead of Haley, Hotch is married to reader from the start and she’s Jack’s mother 🤭 cause its fun and I like imagining Hotch having a loving and supporting marriage throughout the entire time hes on the show (cause I mean its the least he deserves with all he’s been through 😭)

And in this au reader is like really close with the BAU team like she brings in baby Jack during paper work days, remembers the team members birthday’s and gets them small gifts, them going to her when they feel they need someone to talk to cause she’s like the mom/sister of the BAU 🥺. I like to make up so many scenarios with this AU in my head especially one where she and Jack go through the same thing with Foyet but reader survives 🫣

This isn’t a request or anything just like a idea or thought i’m throwing out there for you to enjoy or expand on in any way, shape, or form you’d prefer ❤️

PLEASE the way everything about this is perfect <3333 and honestly how the show should’ve gone from the start

having that contrast between aaron being all stoic and stern, BUT then he goes home, or reader visits with jack, and he turns into that complete softie we all know he has buried deep in him within seconds ☹️ or after a tough case, he always has a sense of stable comfort waiting for him 🥺 ughshsj i would’ve loved to see him switching between the two fronts more vividly- from hotch to aaron.

AND that with the foyet storyline?!?!?! pure genius. like obv we saw him under stress and pressure with haley, but just IMAGINE how it would be with a partner who he’s so so deeply in love with and can’t be apart from for more than a couple days at a time. like a part of him was truly missing and there's no telling when or if he would see the two of them again :( he would be distraught, so so much more tense, and just the whole process of getting foyet would’ve been more frantic, because he can't live without them and he needs his loves back or else he can't function :(

and their reunion afterwards 😣😣😣😣 the way he would just crumble and be so relieved the nightmare is finally over and refuse to let reader and jack out of his arms :(((((((( like just imagine once foyet said rip, he goes running to wherever reader and jack are and within seconds he's pulling the two into his embrace, just weeping softly and giving them both kisses and saying how he's sorry, how much he missed them, or a "it's okay, it's all over now" :( ugh what we should've received rather than him being all traumatized :(

also ALSO the ending of s4 with reader?!?!?! imagine they're in bed, they can hear aaron getting home and they're all smiley to finally see him after a few days (and aaron mentioned the pig farm disaster and how tough it was:(, so they're waiting to console him), and then a gunshot just rings through the air </3

and i love the idea of reader being close with the team :( <3333 haley wasn't at all to begin with -like the scene where she's at the bau with baby jack, she's not on a first name basis with any of them (while all other bau s/o's were referred to by their first name), it's kinda just awk completely, because they just know each other through a mutual being aaron. but reader being an outlet for them <3 like they're not in the bau, so whenever someone needs a break, reader is an easy person to turn to, for a sense of normalcy. or reader bringing them all dinner if they're working late, going out with the girls for girls nights and just being including in all family get togethers :( <3 they would just complete the bau fam overall :(

AND just reader having more babies with aaron <33333 that would've been the cutest thing ohmygodjdnd aaron wants a big family <3 it's canon in my book <3333

aaron just deserves a happy life 😣 that's all

does derek ever babysit in the hotchner fam and if so how do the other kids behave?

All the time, but only for short periods. Hotch doesn’t leave him with the kids when he’s out of town, because that’s too much to ask, but when he occasionally needs to stay at the office a couple of hours late, or if he’s on a DATE!!!!!!!!!!! Derek will watch them

He makes it abundantly clear that Derek is NOT in charge of Emily, who is old enough to look after herself (because she’d be SO mad if he was), and she’s such a little shit about it. If it’s her night to do the dishes, and he asks her to do it, she’ll be like “you’re not the boss of me 😌” and he can’t even DO anything because she’s RIGHT 🤬

Penelope is excited >:) when daddy is not there, that means the rules are lax, because Derek will let her do anything she wants, because Derek is a sucker 😌. She makes him watch Barbie of Swan lake with her after she gets her jammies on (PAST her bed time), and she puts a feather boa on him so he’ll be pretty. Derek is ugly normally, because he only wears boy clothes 🥰 so she’s improving him 😙👌🏻

JJ tries to help him with Spencer, but she’s not successful and makes it worse because she’s not skilled with cutlery and makes a huge mess trying to cut his frozen pizza into little tiny pieces for his stupid, choking-prone baby mouth. Derek takes over the operation, but not before she gets frustrated about it and cries 🥺 Spencer is concerned and keeps pointing at her and asking Derek if she’s sad.

(“Sad? 🥺”)

(“Yep. She’s just a little sad, because she feels bad about spilling on the table. But it’s okay. We’ll clean it up after we eat.”)

(“..............😞. No more sad.”)

He makes sure to let her win at Mario Kart later to make her feel better :)

Spencer is a little more work, because 1. he just needs more attention due to being lil and 2. he’s a tough sleeper. He has a rigid nighttime routine that needs to be followed to the letter or he’ll have a hard time sleeping. He wants snuggles in the rocking chair after his bath time, but Derek doesn’t want to do it and tries to skip that step, and then Spencer will NOT sleep.

Hotch comes home at 11pm and Derek, Emily, and lil Spencer are watching Grey’s Anatomy in the living room and Hotch is like “hey. what is he doing up” and Spencer is like “💅🏼 im not nigh-night 😌”

The boys are both super pissed off, because Spencer wanted to spend his summer going to weird pretentious outdoor arts festivals with his weird pretentious friends, and Derek is doing the house business for $$ and doesn’t want to have to worry about trying to supervise Spencer, who knows absolutely nothing about construction and has been injury-prone since he could walk

They decide to call their father and pretend that Spencer got his leg cut off to “teach him a lesson”

- Penelope at one point in early childhood asks Hotch (just out of curiosity) why Derek looks different than her, and he says that not all people look the same and that’s a good thing, and she assumes that this is an extension of that

what’s the hotch fam au living situation like? do any of them share rooms? is the house super messy? what do you envision?

I needlessly went into Pinterest for this so buckle up 😌

• I kind of picture like. A garden-variety rich people suburban house. Hotch would be making around $300k a year, so they’d be rich, but for a family of 6 + allimony and child support (?), that wouldn’t be enough that they’d be EXTRAVAGANTLY rich, so like. Upper middle class

It would be messy, but not dirty. Definitely toys all over the place all the time tho 😒

Their decor would suck because Hotch is such a manly dude and doesn’t care about having a pretty house. The walls are all bare

• Derek and Emily flip a coin when Spencer is born, and Derek gets to live in their finished basement. He has like a lil bachelor pad downstairs 😎

• Emily has an insane, cluttered bedroom that looks out of a 90’s movie

• JJ and Penelope share a room, and it’s super girly and elaborate, like so

• Spencer has a lil nursery, and he loves animals and animal sounds so it’s jungle-themed 🥺

what is spencer hotchner like as a teenager (hotch fam au)?

He’s a sweet, quiet kid who gets along well with almost everyone :)

Aaron spends Spencer’s entire childhood trying to find the balance between intellectually stimulating him and having him with kids somewhat his age so that he can make friends, and he winds up with Spencer two years ahead in school and taking advanced classes. He worries it’s the wrong choice, because Spencer doesn’t apply himself in school (he doesn’t need to—he’s second in his class despite NEVER working or studying) and regularly skips class >:( he’s bored!!

He comes to really love art (no reason for this other than Matthew Gubler and it’s cute) and has a group of cool, weird friends from his art classes. He paints the sets for the drama club, and is invited to all of their after-show Denny’s runs :’). He has 1 or 2 steady boyfriends in high school, and he gets invited to parties all the time, but he’d rather just hang out and smoke with a small group of friends than go somewhere loud :/

He really loves learning!!! Just not what they’re teaching him in high school >:( He loves watching documentaries, especially true crime stuff. Derek and Hotch worry about how excited he is by his little serial killer docs, because he kind of treats it like it’s a TV show or something, and the reality is so horrifying that they don’t want their little bab getting any ideas about working for the FBI or whatever

He spends a lot of time with Diana, and he gets increasingly mad at Hotch for “taking his mom away.” He thinks that he shouldn’t have sent her away, and he only did it because he wanted full custody. :(

People are constantly comparing him to his four older siblings, and he doesn’t like it, but he makes peace with it. People most commonly ask if he’s related to Derek, because Derek Hotchner is kind of a legendary name around their school (nEaRLy WeNt PrO), and he just says yes and tries not to be sad about the fact that he’s never gonna live up to his big brother
