Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. - Matthew 2:16-21 KJV
Many innocent children today die from preventable causes. No clean water or air, lack of adequate medical care, insufficient food and warfare are all reasons why children die. There is no reason for any of this to happen. The causes, however, are usually based on greed. Oftentimes, warfare will cause some of the other causes of death to occur because of the amount of money the government spends on the military rather than on making sure that the people have the basic necessities of life. Other times, the government leaders just don't spend the money needed but build up their own bank accounts. There are many charitable organizations which work to dig wells, provide education as to how to purify the water, and train communities in basic medical care and nutrition, but some of these organizations have trouble getting permission from the government to do the work. Parents are often forced to leave their countries because of the wars waged between government forces and those who are fighting for change. The innocent still suffer and die. This is a good day to pray for all children that they may have the basic necessities of food, water, shelter, medical care and education as well as to ask God to help us know what we can do to be part of the solution. God wants all of His creation and children to have an opportunity to live healthy prosperous lives in service to Him. May we do what we can do to serve Him and help the elderly, sick and less fortunate.
As Christians, we choose to keep Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ first in our hearts and lives and all other worldly desires behind us. He extends salvation to everyone, and we want to show the world the freedom, hope and peace they can have in accepting and following Him. May we follow and serve God daily with love, trust, awe and wonder. May Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ strengthen our faith, lift our spirits, protect our hearts, and show us opportunities to help bring others to Him and His Gospel Truth daily.
We must come to Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ with sincere hearts to ask forgiveness and follow Him and His Holy Word and Spirit always. We praise Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for the mercy He bestows upon us and we are grateful for His grace and mercy and infinite blessings. By surrendering our hearts and our lives to His will, we see all the blessings He has bestowed upon us. God our refuge and our salvation and our constant provider. We lift our voices to Him in praise for His steadfast love, mercy and understanding. May Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ open our minds and hearts more and more to perceive and embrace Him and His truths. May He help us to find time to pray and read and study the Holy Bible daily and to find power in prayer, praying according to His Holy Word and will. May He help us to come to Him in true repentance and with faith in Him and His grace and merciful nature. May He give us the grace, courage and strength we need to walk with Him and do His will daily. May He teach us to watch our words when we pray to Him and to speak reverently and rightly. May we continually ask God to transform our hearts and make us faithful and humble as we walk with Him daily. We must come to Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ with honest, humble and repentant hearts. We must seek Him and His will and choose to follow Him all the days of our lives. May He help transform our hearts, help us to seek and live for Him above all else and to grow spiritually and build our faith and relationship with Him with each passing day. May He forgive our sinful nature and help us always make Him and our relationship with Him top priority.
As true and born-again Christians, we choose to walk in His righteous path and lead a life that is pleasing to Him. We desire Him and His will above anything else. We desire to walk in accordance with the love and light He has shown to us through His Holy Word and Spirit. We long for a deeper relationship with Him and a deeper fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ as well. When we fall into temptation and sin, we must turn to Him for forgiveness, strength and guidance. When believers learn to walk in accordance with God's Holy Word and Spirit, they have deeper fellowship with both God and one another. And the sin that could threaten to destroy that fellowship, if confessed (1 John 1:9), is covered in the blood of Jesus Christ and no longer a barrier between us and God. May we ask Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ to forgive us for any sins we have sinned this day or in days past. May we be faithful to Him and His Holy Word always. May He help us to walk more consistently in the light and to not neglect long to confess and forsake any sins that hinder our walk with Him. May He lead us in the direction He wants us to go so that we may seek and serve Him faithfully. God is holy and almighty and deserving of all praise honor and glory. We rejoice in Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ, knowing He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 1:8). May our hearts always be filled with thanksgiving and rejoicing. May He help us to praise Him freely and honestly like all believers who came before us. May we live a life that showcases our love and trust in Him and His Holy Word and Spirit as He uses us draw others to Him and His soul-saving Gospel Truth daily. May He continue guide, correct and protect us, so that we continue to grow in Him and not weaken and stray. May we all remain faithful to Him and to this duty and purpose He has called us to. Seek and put your faith and trust in Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ and let Him do the rest. May He humble our hearts and help us focus on following and serving Him daily and helping others with joy and happiness. We lift our voices in praise to Him for His love, mercy, peace, faithfulness and grace - For EVERYTHING!
It is vital that we remain rooted in Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ through prayer and His Holy Word and Spirit and that we live and walk as a beacon of His light and love and share and spread the Gospel Truth daily, so that the lost souls in this world can come to know Him and be saved. The more we focus on Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ, growing spiritually by building our relationship with Him, leaning on Him and His Holy Word and Spirit, the better off we will be. Thanks to this and our faith in Him, we know that everything will be alright. And we will forever be grateful to Him. As true and born-again Christians, we believe in Him and His Holy Word and we strive daily to walk in His Holy Spirit. We know though our mortal bodies should die, He will raise us up and into new and glorious bodies (The Rapture). We who are truly His and alive at His second coming will never die, and our bodies will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and so shall we ever be with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven forevermore (1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). This is one of many promises given to us by God Himself. Thank God for His strength and guidance when we are faced with sin and temptation. Thank Him for His mercy and grace. Through Bible study and prayer, God reveals His wisdom and guides us to see opportunities to grow closer to Him and grow spiritually. He gives us direction to live our lives daily according to His will.
Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Heaven (John 3:5, 14:6), the ONLY way to salvation (Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9) and He is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25-26). Jesus Christ the LORD of lords, the KING of kings, the GOD of gods (Deuteronomy 10:17, 1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 17:14, Revelation 19:16) - He is the Living, Almighty and Everlasting God (Isaiah 9:6, Revelation 1:8, John 3:16, John 3:36, Jeremiah 10:10). There is no other God besides Him (Isaiah 45:5). We MUST humble ourselves before Him, turning our backs on false teachers, false gods and idols and our sinful ways. We MUST repent and turn back to God and recognize who He is and love Him in return for His great love for us. We MUST make God top priority everyday! May we be motivated to spread God's Holy Word and Gospel Truth to all the Earth, knowing that it is the only hope of all those lost in their sins. Let us not hold out a false hope for men to be saved without the Gospel, but instead, strive to do our part to get the Gospel out to a lost and dying world.
Leaning on Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ through prayer and His Holy Word and Spirit strengthens us and our knowledge and wisdom about God and His Gospel Truth, exposing these imposters. May God help us to seek and lean on Him daily to gain the strength, wisdom and spiritual discernment needed to expose Satan and his imposters who seek to destroy us and God's ultimate Truth. Everyday, we must remember to share Jesus Christ's Gospel Truth with the world and to thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for the grace that He poured out for us on the cross at Calvary. He has freed us from the burdens of sin and from the eternal damnation of Hell. In all we say and do, may all praise, honor and glory always be given to Him and His Kingdom of Heaven.
With renewed minds, hearts and wills, let us serve Him humbly and faithfully out of pure love and grateful rejoicing. May He remind us of His presence and to remain at peace, fully knowing that all will be well because He is always with us. Let us seek Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ today and everyday with all our heart and being, looking for His love, light and will for our lives with each step we take. Let us seek to please Him with our thoughts, words, and deeds and seek to advance His Kingdom of Heaven and His glory with our lives. Let us seek Him from a pure and humble heart, and when we so seek, we believe Him and His promise that we will find. May He help us all to be more sensitive to the teaching ministry of His Holy Word and Spirit, relying on Him and allowing Him to speak to us and guide us every step of our Christian journey.
God gave us the Holy Bible - His living and Holy Word - to let us know of Him and His abiding love and care as well as guide and prepare us for all our lives. May He help us encourage one another as we continue our walk with Him and our duty to Him daily. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for being present for all our new beginnings and all our lives. May He redirect any anxiety we feel as He provides countless opportunities for growth and change. May we humble ourselves before God always, asking Him to forgive our sins and make our hearts and lives anew through His Holy Word and Spirit. May He help us make Him and His Holy Word top priority, so we can grow spiritually and grow in our relationship with Him as we apply it to our daily lives. Thank God that we can focus on Him and everything about Him, for that is what keeps us sane and at peace. May our words and actions always be a reflection of Him and His Holy Word and Spirit and will.
May He help us to always walk in His grace and Holy Spirit, not by our own measure. May He give us the humble humility to know that our freedom and eternal salvation is found only in Him, so that His grace may sustain us, and we may never lose sight of His love and light and mercy. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for calling us to Him and to serve Him. May He equip us to do all that He has called us to do so that as He works through us, He may use us to produce fruit, to reach others, and to encourage all brothers and sisters in Christ. May He work all of these things in us and through us for His Kingdom and His glory. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for all His creation, for His miraculous ways and for everything He does and has done for us! Keep the faith and keep moving forward in your walk with Jesus! He loves us and He knows what is best for us. Seek, follow and trust in Him - Always!
Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His Holy Word and for sending His Holy Spirit so that we might have His grace, not only to awaken us and transform our hearts in our spiritual rebirth and guarantee our eternity with Him, but to also call upon Him whenever we are in need. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for all the reminders of His love and mercy and faithfulness within His Holy Word. He is bigger than any challenge or circumstance in our lives. Knowing this within our minds and our hearts, nothing can deter our faith in Him and His Truth. May we all accept Him and His eternal gift of salvation and ask that He would transform our hearts and lives according to His will and ways. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His Holy Spirit who saves, seals and leads us. May we always thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His almighty power and saving grace. For He is our strength, and He alone is able to save us, forgive our sins and gift us eternal salvation and entry into His Kingdom of Heaven.
May we make sure that we give our hearts and lives to God and take time to seek and praise Him and share His Truth with the world daily. May the LORD our God and Father in Heaven help us to stay diligent and obedient and help us to guard our hearts in Him and His Holy Word daily. May He help us to remain faithful and full of excitement to do our duty to Him and for His glorious return and our reunion in Heaven as well as all that awaits us there. May we never forget to thank the LORD our God and our Creator and Father in Heaven for all this and everything He does and has done for us! May we never forget who He is, nor forget who we are in Christ and that God is always with us! What a mighty God we serve! What a Savior this is! What a wonderful LORD, God, Savior and King we have in Jesus Christ! What a loving Father we have found in Almighty God! What a wonderful God we serve! His will be done!
Thanks and glory be to God! Blessed be the name of the LORD! Hallelujah and Amen!

Use these methods on Gudi Padwa to unlock fortune!
Tumblr media
Gudi Padwa, also called the Samvatsar Padvo, is a festival celebrated by Maharashtrians and Konkanis at the start of each year. There are 60 Samvatsaras, and each one has a unique name. Let’s learn about Gudi Padwa 2023, how it’s celebrated nationwide, and how to get the most benefits on the Hindu calendar’s first day.
Date and Time of Puja: March 22, 2023, from 06:29 to 07:39
Know about the Importance of Gudi Padwa 2023. Get an online astrology consultation by the world-renowned Astrologer Mr. Alok Khandelwal.
The Importance of Gudi Padwa
The Gudi Padwa festival, which is celebrated per Hindu tradition, honours the day that reclaimed his throne after a 14-year absence and defeated King Ravana. It also begins Chaitra Navratri, when many fast and honour Lord Rama and Devi Durga.
The Gudi Padwa festival symbolises the victory of good over evil. People clean their homes, make beautiful rangolis, and prepare Puran poli, the communal meal, throughout the day. The event often occurs in late March or early April. In the south, it is known as Ugadi, whilst in the north, it is known as Cheti Chand.
The day before Gudi Padwa, a ceremony is held for everyone to light diyas, arrange them on leaves, and release them in the river. The connection between a husband and wife is commemorated on this day. Many parents accompany their wedded daughter and her partner for the usual meal.

What customs are to be observed on Gudi Padwa in 2023?
You must celebrate the Gudi right away by following routine activities like cleaning, taking a shower, etc.
Natives are required to clean their dwellings, and if you live in a rural location, you can decorate with cow dung.
Also, according to Hindu scriptures, on Gudi Padwa in 2023, do your puja rites in the Arunodaya Kaal to invoke the blessings and upbeat energy of the event.
Make sure to perform Gudi worship shortly after daybreak. Remember that there cannot be any delays.
Create beautiful Rangoli patterns with vibrant colours to go along with them, and decorate your home with vibrant lights and fresh flowers.
Put on brand-new clothing and an elegant outfit. Women often dress in Kastha or Nauvari, whereas Marathi men frequently wear Kurta Pajamas with a turban that is typically yellow or red.
Since families gather to celebrate the New Year, you must ask for blessings from your seniors and cherish your younger family members.
The party typically begins after getting the fragrant neem leaves as prasad. Thus, combining neem leaves, honey, vinegar, etc. creates a paste. It improves defences and purifies the blood.
Moreover, the 3 flavours of life—sugary, tangy, and caustic—are represented by the combined paste on Gudi Padwa.
Puran Poli, Kheer, and Sanna should be prepared, and later that evening, Lezim should be performed to liven up the celebrations.
How should your house be decorated for Gudi Padwa in 2023?
You can easily make your Gudi flag or buy one from a store.
Attach a silk scarf to a wooden rod to make a flag.
The pole is decorated with a mango leaf bouquet, neem wreath, and flower necklace. After that, set a pot or a Kalash made of silver or copper on the stick.
These flags, which represent success and fortune, can be hung from branches, balconies, or windows.
A rangoli on a corner or at the home’s doorway symbolises wealth and luck during Gudi Padwa.
The best way to decorate your home for the Gudi Padwa festival is to add an ethnic flavour.
Each home has a toran hanging at the door during the Gudi Padwa ceremony, made of mango leaves, neem, and floral garlands.
Boost the lighting in your house.
It might look much more joyous if you decorate your home with real, fresh flowers.
Prayers and floral gifts to God in your temple room on Gudi Padwa morning are great.
As the day is filled with festivities, you must keep your puja space clean and the figurines shined.

Oxford Theologians, the most stupid celebrate the death of God instead o... Oxford Theologians, the most stupid celebrate the death of God instead of Jesus or mystery Yahshua. https://youtu.be/H72dOO0JhAU
On Sunday 19 Feb, 23 I went to Oxford to listen to the Kirtan led by Kishori Jani who returned to Oxford with her husband and friends to lead us in kirtan. Kishori Jani is a mother of four, a Sanskrit teacher and an eastern (Vedic) wisdom coach. She was born and raised in India, in a temple setting to an American mother and Gujarati father who were both Hindu priests. She gained a deep understanding of the Vedic scriptures and was trained in monastic life. She later obtained her degree in Biochemistry from UCLA in Los Angeles, USA and also worked there in academia for many years. This unique blend of spiritual upbringing and professional skill has enabled her to share timeless Vedic wisdom in a more applicable and relevant way. Recently a Kirtan (spiritual mantra music) she did with her family went viral with over 30 million views. As a result, the family have gained a large social media following and shares regular Kirtans and Bhagavad-Gita Wisdom. But they keep on repeating Hare Krishna, Hare Rama .......... It was a great disappointment but a good number attended and repeated this as MANTRA. The function was at 4.00 p.m. and I went earlier to attend the University of Oxford Saint Mary's Church service. Over there, in a Church full of spiritually blind people Christ died and rose on the Third Day non-sense. I asked the Vicar why Jesus was given the name Yahshua? He had no idea but I told him. Then, I told him that Christ stands for His Word and that was in the beginning and is forever. How could he die when He was not born but Jesus? Reply, it is a mystery, a general answer. Then, I happen to pass by the Pusey House and there was a future Seminar on the Death of God where Jesus is shown being laid in the tomb. Such people kill Christ who was in the beginning and forever. Such people fulfil Matt 12v43-45 and made the situation worse than before the arrival of Christ Jesus. Gospel is not for the spiritually dead University Professors but for ordinary illiterate shepherds in the villages. That is why the Good News about the Birth of Jesus was broken to the Shepherds and not the killer University Professor in Jerusalem. Also, in the towns like Oxford and Cambridge, you get these influential Super Donkeys University Professors carrying the holy books and they being drunk with the old wine would not desire the New Wine as the illiterate people at Cana desired. https://youtu.be/IIDlHAN9FrI

The Cultural Significance

Nostalgic Diwali
From being celebrated by millions of people in the whole of India, Diwali is celebrated a bit uniquely in every household. Each family has a different tradition that they follow. “Mom used to make ‘Dahi Bhalla every year on Diwali, and we used to like them so much”, says Ira when asked about how she celebrates the festival. She adds, “There was a utensil made of silver that was kept in the locker and only taken out to serve ‘prasad’ or offering to the God and Goddesses on Diwali.” The offering used to be Indian sweet ‘Jalebi’ with milk. She still follows this tradition, and it makes her Diwali perfect. Just like Ira’s home traditions, some people celebrate the festival by gifting their families and people who are not families but are just as close. These are the people who make living easy, safe, and happy. House helps, cooks, guards, and their children. Diwali is all about celebration, and no one should be left behind. Lighting candles and lamps, wearing new clothes, and eating festive foods is the vibe. Families gather to pray, exchange gifts, and tell stories. The days leading up to Diwali are marked by busy preparations as people clean their homes and buy new clothes and jewelry.

The 5 Days of Diwali
Diwali is a five-day festival, celebrated as Dhanteras, Naraka Chaturdasi, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj on consecutive days.
The first day, Dhanteras is celebrated as the birth of Lord Dhanvantari, who imparted the knowledge of Ayurveda to mankind. This day marks the celebration of health, wealth, and prosperity.
The second day, Naraka Chaturdasi or Choti Diwali is celebrated as the victory over the demon king Naraka.
On the third day, Lakshmi Puja is celebrated by praying to Goddess Lakshmi. It is believed that the goddess descends on earth and blesses the people with luck, prosperity, and happiness.
The fourth day, Govardhan Puja is celebrated to commemorate the day when Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain to provide shelter to the villagers and all the animals and birds living there.
The fifth and final day of Diwali is known as Bhai Dooj. This day strengthens the brother-sister bond when they pray for each other’s safety and well-being.

Madhya Pradesh: Heart of India
Tumblr media
Madhya Pradesh is full of rich history, a wide range of wildlife, unique flora, and delicious delicacies. It's a little gem that needs attention. Read this post to know all about who, where, and what is the heart of India. Sit down! We plan to tell you every little detail about the places to visit in Madhya Pradesh.
Historical places to visit in Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is a hub for history lovers. It was ruled by the Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, and Mughal empires. One can find hundreds and thousands of years old structures, stories, and cultures still intact and waiting to be explored.
Khajuraho
Tumblr media
Who hasn't heard of Khajuraho Temples in Madhya Pradesh? The city has many Jain and Hindu temples, which are known for their intricate sandstone carvings and sculptures. In these structures, we can witness brilliant Indo-Aryan architecture.
The town is divided by the state government into western, eastern, and southern parts. Khajuraho was created by the Chandel Empire between 950 and 1050 AD and once had 85 such well-decorated temples. However, over time, many of them were destroyed. Today only 22 temples remain.
2. Sanchi rises
Tumblr media
The Sanchi Stupa is located in Raisen and is said to have been built between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. The symbolic representation of the Buddha and his ideologies is unique and something that every traveler will appreciate in this place.
The stupa was built by Ashoka, the greatest Mauryan king after he converted to Buddhism. It has been renovated several times. It was also built around 1912 by Sir John Marshall. The national emblem of India, known as the Ashok Chakra, is taken from the Ashok Pillar in Sanchi.
Built after Ashoka's death, the gates have carvings depicting important Buddhist scenes such as Buddha's enlightenment, first sermon, the siege of Kushinagar, Emperor Ashoka's visit to the Bodhi tree, etc. Ashoka's Sanchi Stupa is located 120 kilometers from Bhopal. Visitors can enter from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The ticket price is INR 40 for adults and INR 600 for international tourists. The main attraction is the old statues and the four gates.
3. Gwalior Fort
Tumblr media
Do you want to know how kings lived in the first centuries? Visit Gwalior Fort and see for yourself. This 6th-century fort stands tall and proud on the Gopachal Hill in Gwalior. The majestic Vindhayan sandstone fort was subjected to many attacks but the strength it contained did not allow the fort to be defeated. The fort displays beautiful architecture, adorned with some breathtaking sandstone sculptures, stone sculptures, and beautiful works of art. The tall towers and blue exterior tiles give the fort a classic royal charm. A part of this fort that attracts many tourists is the Tamarind tree planted by Tansen. Legend has it that whoever eats a leaf from this tree gets a sweet voice. Other attractions of this fort include the statues of Jain Tirthankars, Gujari Mahal, Karan Mahal, Man Mandir Palace, Jauhar Kund, and Suraj Kund and to tickle your funny bones, the Saas-Bahu Temple.
It takes about 4-5 hours to fully explore the fort. Visitors can enter from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The entry fee for an Indian adult is 75 INR and 40 INR for children. Foreigners have to spend INR 250 to enter the fort. Gwalior Fort is indeed one of the best historical places to visit in Madhya Pradesh.
4. Orchha Fort
Tumblr media
Orchha is a less explored jewel in the state. The town was established in the Bundelkhand region by the Bundela chieftain Rudra Pratap sometime around the 16th century. The age-old fort of Orchha still stands tall on an island at the banks of Betwa.
The most popular attractions of this fort include the Jehangir Mahal and Sawan Bhadon Mahal built by Vir Singh Deo, Sheesh Mahal, Dauji ki Kothi, and Baba ki Gufa, and Hardaul ki Haveli. Do attend the light and sound show in the evening, and enlighten yourself with the history of this gorgeous fort.
A unique thing to know about the locals of this area is that they consider Lord Rama as their king, while the Bundelas who established the town are worshipped as demigods. The best  time to visit this calm town is during winter when the sun isn’t harsh. Reaching the fort is not a tough task. The closest airport lies in Gwalior, and the railhead nearest to Orchha is in Jhansi.
If you’re a history buff, Orchha’s forts and temples built in the 16th and 17th centuries should be on top of your list of places to visit in Madhya Pradesh.

2 slow burns + 2 dark!draco fics, bc sometimes u want quiet mundane love and sometimes u want monstrous horrific love
The Malfoy Conundrum by Omi_Ohmy - 50k, M Harry’s miserable living with his memories at Grimmauld Place, so after a chance meeting he takes the opportunity to move somewhere new. His housemates, though, are rather unexpected. Especially the blond, pointy one
roommate trope + muggle draco + no plot just vibes is guaranteed to get me readin. everything is unrushed. you get to linger in the quiet development of something fragile and new. it’s like 90% them just watching game shows, arguing over dirty dishes, reluctant cooking lessons, conversations about house plants, etc. it’s a whole world that takes place more or less in a handful of rooms. which!! how austenian. stolen glances + blushing + a character jumping to wrong conclusions abt the object of their affection before making bold declarations of love? extremely my shit.
Each Breath My First by @jovialobservationanchor with art by @rama-thorn - 46k, T Malfoy’s words echo: "Conspiracy? Sedition? Did you stop to wonder what that means? I suggest you ask more questions of the Ministry before you demand them of me. You won’t like the answers."
u already know im a hoe for anti-govt/anti-corporation fics. and draco being the catalyst for harry to question his loyalty to the ministry? chef’s kiss. i simply love the messiness of 2 dudes with trust issues the size of a continent being forced to work together. the tension!!! harry and draco being flustered and pissed off by their repressed feelings. always dancing on the edge of cruelty and kindness bc they don’t know how to be normal to each other. harry being frustrated and wildly insecure about how much he cares. draco panic baking a shit ton of pastries when he thinks he's hurt harry’s feelings. the chapters-long build up to a kiss u feel will never happen until it does. or this line—Harry sees uncertainty like his own reflected back to him. “This,” Harry breathes, and raises a hand to draw Draco closer. like pls this scene and the way i am weak for their tentative reaching out. romantic as hell
you look so fine by michi_thekiller - 16k, E In which Draco is a Veela and Harry is his mate. Dark!Humor or Crack!Horror, you decide.
god i love the canon divergence of draco turning 16 and coming into his veela-ness but with the catch of like, straight up cannibalism. the horror that gives way to resignation and draco knowing he’ll always be a little bit of a monster. and his voice in this!! the humor, the dramatics. “Oh yes, Mother, let’s tell the Dark Lord that I can no longer eat people for him since I’m on a diet, because I must simply look after my girlish figure. I’m sure that will go over very nicely.” and years later when harry catches him and is repulsed as much as he is intrigued. harry who does not want to confront his own bloodlust when it comes to ridding the earth of death eaters. rmr when guillermo del toro said monsters, the patron saints of imperfection, have saved and absolved him. or when hannibal tells will i have let you know me, see me. this fic is extremely that. 10/10 eldritch horror + draco’s histrionics and constant leering. the lawful evil 4 chaotic good of this is unmatched.
Let Me Have You and I’ll Let You Save Me by Frayach - 6k, E Draco keeps coming back, and Harry keeps letting him. Draco can’t stay away, and Harry can’t live without him.
hell ya character studies that explore form!! this fic is 9 pairs of lyrical stanzas meant to contrast all the ways harry is this and draco is that--two distinct, contradictory parts of a whole. i’ve read it so many times and it never gets any less satisfying because the structure itself propels you to the next set of stanzas. each pair is a fragment of them and their messy relationship -- their ambivalence, social habits, public perception, morality, insecurities, etc. with the conclusion of every refrain implying this shouldn’t work and yet and yet! it’s the romance of meeting someone who is everything you lack and desire. the fear of not ever being enough for them and getting to have them anyway. immaculate vibes all around.

One thing I wish canon could have given us was a fleshing-out of Hashirama's family life and his relationship with Mito. The first Hokage and the first jinchuriki for Kurama--if not the first jinchuriki period--what an intriguing marriage that must have been! Do you have any headcanons as to what their dynamic could have been like? Thanks again!
Hello ♥  thank you for the ask! I have so many headcanons that this took me some time to write, so I’m sorry for the wait! This is just a part of my what I remember and I have much more. I will also use the - in names for now so it doesn’t appear in tags.
I love HashiMito. The only problem is that it’s basically always Hash-ramaxOCwife. She can be mean, she can be outgoing, she can be shy, she can be like Kushina – so it’s sometimes hard for me to tell I ship it, because it depends on portrayal, although I do firmly believe that it was a marriage out of love. Even if they arranged it, I don’t think Hash-rama would marry someone he wouldn’t love. So even i fit was political, Hash-rama was in love with Mito.
I usually headcanon they met maybe ~ ten months after Mad-ra left Konoha, so Hash-rama must have been 27-29. Hash-rama wasn’t doing very good and was often grief stricken. And then Mito came and painted Hash-rama’s world.
I headcanon that before meeting Mito (and this is one of my oldest headcanons) Hash-rama wasn’t able to create beautiful details with mokuton. He tried, but it was never like he could do some jewerly, wooden brooch, or create an ornamental furniture – that’s why his hobby is wood sculpting, because he wasn’t able to do it just with chakra. And after meeting her, somehow, it worked, like he was a source of peace and inspiration for him.
Now, my headcanons about how they were and how arranged the marriage was, differs from universe to universe. I roleplayed with a few Mitos and each one was different. Since I actually had Mito when I started to rp Hash-rama, before I even understood him properly, this person’s roleplay affected my headcanons a lot (I also had Mad-ra who affected my headcanons and rp from this angle.)
Generally, I have two alternative headcanons for Mito’s behavior.
(1)    The strong type that grounds Hash-rama and has none of his shit. She sees through him and if he goes to a pub, she will make sure he doesn’t have more money than he can afford to lose. She calls him out on his behaviour and actually knows him. It’s a tough love, but Hash-rama needs it. She knows more about Hash-rama than he knows about himself and knows that he is sometimes delusional and lives in a complete denial, even about his feelings towards Mad-ra. This is where Hash-rama feels seen and understood and respects Mito a lot.
(2)    The type that loves Hash-rama, but doesn’t see through him and lives in her own version of denial even when he tries to tell her once he has a moment of weakness. If Hash-rama would tell her he loves Mad-ra by some accident, she would tell him that she knows that he loves him as a friend. This  universe is not that happy for Hash-rama as he feels like his needs are ignored even if he’s doing his best to communicate them – his best isn’t good enough though.
My alternative headcanons on how they met:
(1)    It was an arranged marriage. Hash-rama went to see her to the Whirlpool village, but didn’t think he would like this girl enough to marry her. Then, he saw her, talked to her the whole night, and in the morning knew that he wants to be with her forever.
(2)    This is where they met once when they were younger. He pretended to be a sailor and thought she is some beautiful sirene from the sea. But they don’t get each other’s names. After a few years, when Mad-ra is in village, Mito’s father approaches Konoha and asks  for an arranged marriage between them, but Hash-rama refuses, because he wants to live his single life with Mad-ra and party hard with Mad-ra. Plus, he doesn’t know it’s the girl he saw once. So, Mito’s father arranges a marriage between her and feudal lord. After Mad-ra leaves, Hash-rama is invited to the engagement celebration. He realizes Mito is the girl he once saw and that he refused to marry her before and now she has to marry the feudal lord. The problem is, Mito doesn’t like the feudal lord, so Hash-rama tells her to run away with him and they run away to Konoha, breaking the engagement. Mito’s parents then have to pay penalty which is ruining the Whirlpool country (for the future drama)
Other headcanons:
(1)    Mito’s father is the leader of Whirlpool village (not very original, but hey!)
(2)    They have six children and they both love them.
(3)    https://oh-my-Hash-rama.tumblr.com/post/190474408495/i-have-a-melodramatic-headcanon-that-mito-was Mito and Kyuubi - headcanon (I swear I saw this being used in some fic after I published this and idk if it’s a coincidence or not? Is it that obvious? I’d just like to know) tw abortion
(4)    They have a big house in Konoha that Mito’s father paid for
(5)    Before Hash-rama died, he started to build a room for Mito in the attick where she would relax and read and take a break from the children. He created bookshelves with his mokuton, made beautiful libraries, bought her books and paid people to make a beutiful chairs and coaches. He spent lot of time on it, so much that Mito thought he’s trying to avoid her. He planned to give it to her on her birthday, May 3rd. But before her birthday came, Hash-rama died.
So Mito discovered the room after his death. And it was a place she grieved him the most. One day she realized that she can see his face on the mountain from the window and that the sun shines on it right before the sunset.
(6) Tob-rama has quite a crush on her and really respects her.

Andy Weir on Writing a Buddy Cop Story… Set in Space
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Andy Weir is all about survival. His first novel, The Martian, centers upon the attempts of astronaut Mark Watney to survive long enough on the Red Planet for a rescue mission to reach him. His sophomore book, Artemis, is a fast-paced survival story of a different kind, set among various criminal factions on the Moon. His latest novel, Project Hail Mary, raises the stakes even higher— it’s about the survival of our entire species, and all life on Earth.
In Project Hail Mary, the Sun is getting dimmer, thanks to a mysterious substance known as Astrophage, a type of interstellar infection. Humanity is facing a ticking ecological time bomb; unless the secret of the Astrophage can be discovered and the planet-wide cooling process reversed, it’s goodnight for life as we know it. There’s just one long shot left for humankind: send a starship to make contact with whoever – or whatever – is behind it all.
Project Hail Mary is as much a mystery novel as it is an SF survival tale. The book opens with our protagonist, Ryland Grace, waking up in a medical bay with two corpses and no memory of how he got there. What follows is a constant peeling back of layer after layer of this mystery, until finally, the truth is revealed. It’s a deeply satisfying ride, made even more so for those readers who share Weir’s obvious passion for science. Surprisingly, at its heart, Project Hail Mary is also a buddy road trip story, which kicks into high gear when Grace connects with an alien partner he names Rocky.
After bonding over a shared love of Terry Pratchett, Andy and I talked about the influences behind Project Hail Mary, and what it took to bring the world of the Astrophage to life.
Den of Geek:  Project Hail Mary evokes similar feelings to the Robert A. Heinlein juveniles, and Arthur C. Clarke’s Rama books. Were those influences for you?
Andy Weir: Oh, big time. I grew up reading my dad’s science fiction collection, Heinlein and Asimov and Clarke, they’re my Holy Trinity. And yeah, that sense of optimism I feel has kind of vanished from sci-fi, and a lot of science fiction ends up being this bleak, dystopian misery-scape where a teenager doing weird stuff is the only thing that’ll save the day. I just don’t buy into that. I have a firm belief that the future is almost always better than the past. I mean, 2020 kind of sucked, we can all agree, but I would rather live through 2020 again than 1920.
Speaking of 2020, let’s talk about the Astrophage, which is basically Project Hail Mary’s nemesis. It’s a stellar virus, an infection transmitted from star to star. Did you plot the book during the Covid-19 pandemic, or was it just a fluke of timing? It seems like a very timely concept.
It does, but it’s pure coincidence. I actually finished the entire book before COVID-19 happened. This is the longest I’ve ever had a book done, but not yet published, because COVID messed with the print production pipelines. I actually finished the book in January of 2019. Astrophage was originally a technology called black matter, not a life form. It would absorb all electromagnetic radiation that hit it, and turn that energy into mass, in the form of more black matter. I thought, this is the perfect spacecraft fuel, because it mass converts. Then I thought, “Well, we have no way of creating that technology, I could not make that take place in the modern day… what if it wasn’t a technology? What if it was a life form?” Black matter takes energy and makes more black matter, but that’s kind of what life does, right? Humans take energy and make more humans out of it. That’s what we do. Cats take energy to make kittens.
It’s the ultimate double-edged sword. It has the power to wipe us out, but if we were smart enough to harness it, Astrophage could become humanity’s gateway to the stars.
That was my…kind of “shower epiphany.” I was thinking, “Oh, but we’d need to be really careful, because we wouldn’t want to let this shit get in our sun, because it would start breeding out of control. That’d be a disaster. We can’t have that.” Then I was like: “Wait a minute, disasters are where books come from. We can have that. We will have that!” Astrophage was… I can’t say handed to humanity on a silver platter, it was really more handed to humanity on a spiky, poisoned platter.
That’s how the Big Three – Heinlein, Asimov, and Clarke – saw atomic power, wasn’t it?
Yeah, they did, and they’re not wrong. I still think that in the real world, our best bet for regular interplanetary travel is going to be ion propulsion, which requires a huge amount of energy, and so that’ll be reactors. This isn’t weird, way off in the middle of nowhere, made up science; this is real stuff. Humanity has put ion propulsion craft into space and used it, but if you scale that up big enough that you can have a passenger spacecraft, then you’re going to need to scale up the energy production. So, pretty much nuclear reactors are the only way to get that much energy out of such a small amount of weight.
The novel has a very non-traditional structure, essentially starting at two different time points, and unfolding from there in tandem. Was Project Hail Mary a difficult book to plot?
It wasn’t difficult to plot once I decided to use that structure, but it was a very difficult decision to go for that structure. I hate flashbacks. I always tell aspiring writers: “Don’t use flashbacks. Nobody likes them.” One of my main problems with flashbacks is, I’ll be really invested and interested in a story that’s going on, then suddenly we’re off somewhere else. We were over here doing neat stuff, now you’re over here doing boring stuff. This is a book, it’s entertainment, not a lesson. So, flashbacks often feel to me like you’re out playing with your friends and your mom tells you to come in and clean your room.
But I realized that this story, if told linearly, would be really weird. The whole scientific mystery which leads to the creation of the Hail Mary, and then the launch, is interesting, but it’s not a book… and so the flashbacks skip over the years. There’s this scene, and then the very next flashback you see will be two years later after that. The whole book would be really disjointed. From the second act on, it’s a completely different book. And so, I couldn’t think of any way to do this other than flashbacks. I’m like, “If I neat out the backstory bit by bit so that the stories kind of converge, and I’m constantly revealing new information in the flashbacks, then the flashbacks are compelling as well,” and just had the two stories come together at the end.
If this had been poorly executed, it would have been a very difficult read, but I felt no jarring at all due to the jumping backward and forward in time. I found myself looking forward to the next flashback, then getting back to the Rocky and Ryland show.  I was also delighted to find there’s a lot of humor in there.
People don’t know it when they start the book, but it’s a buddy cop movie, basically. I don’t know if you watched those road movies from the ‘40s. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby will be on the road to something. There’s a bunch of movies that start with Road to…and then a location. It’s always the same principal plot, these two guys are trying to get somewhere, and all the funky, comedic things that happen along the way. It’s kind of like that.
So, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the team behind The Lego Movie among many others, have been tapped to direct the Project Hail Mary Movie.
MGM bought the rights, and they bought them outright, not an option, which is neat, because it implies they’re much more serious about making the movie. Ryan Gosling is attached to play the lead, so that’s pretty cool.
Wonderful! Who’s your dream casting for Rocky, Grace’s alien partner?
I have some ideas for that, but I don’t want to give them away, because there’s been a lot of discussion on how do we portray the [alien] language situation on screen. In the book, after a while, I just start using italics to indicate what Rocky’s saying, and either Grace is looking it up on his computer, or later in the book has just learned Rocky’s language, learned how to understand what Rocky’s saying. We have an idea, and I think it’s a really solid idea. Ryan Gosling came up with it, and so I think that’s what we’re going to do. But films are so security conscious, I can’t really talk about it.
It was great talking with you, Andy, and I wish you the very best of luck with Project Hail Mary.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
You too. Bye-bye.
Project Hail Mary hits the shelves on Tuesday, May 3rd.

Guru Poornima
What is Guru Purnima and when it is celebrated?
Guru Purnima (Poornima) is also known as Vyasa Purnima marks the birthday of Ved Vyasa. It is a tradition dedicated to all the spiritual and academic Gurus, who are evolved or enlightened humans, ready to share their wisdom with very little or no monetary expectation, based on Karma Yoga. It is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal and Bhutan by the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists.
It is celebrated on the full moon of hindu month of Ashadha (June-July).
You all must be thinking that if it is to mark someone’s birthday, it should have one fix day. I always wondered this since childhood but got no answer except that earlier people doesn’t use to remember dates but the significance of day. So yes significance of Ved Vyasa Ji’s birthday was full moon of ashadha.
Every year it falls on different day. In 2020 it’s on July 5th i.e., today.
Significance of Guru Purnima
Guru or teacher has always been considered akin to a God in the Hindu culture. Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima is the day to celebrate and pay our gratitude to our Gurus. This Sanskrit word literally translates to ‘the one who frees us of ignorance’.
Guru Purnima honours Ved Vyasa, known as one of the most honoured Gurus of ancient India. Senior Ayurvedic consultant Dr Vishakha Mahindroo says, “Veda Vyasa, structured the four Vedas, composed the epic of the Mahabharata, created the foundation for the many Puranas and the vast encyclopedias of Hindu sacred lore. Guru Purnima represents the date on which Lord Shiva as the Adi Guru or original guru taught the seven rishis who were the seers of the Vedas. In the Yoga Sutras, Ishvara as Pranava or Om is said to be the Adi Guru of Yoga. Lord Buddha was said to have delivered his first sermon on this day at Sarnath, reflecting the power of this sacred time.”
 IMPORTANCE OF THIS DAY
Guru Purnima is celebrated to honour our teachers who dedicate their life to remove darkness from our minds.
I have read somewhere that “Teachers are like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way of others.”
In India teachers are placed equal to god.
There is a very popular shloka in Sanskrit:
“गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः । गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥“
This shloka means:
Guru Brahma - Guru is Brahma, who is the Lord of Creation, also called as Generator, Guru Vishnu means Guru is Vishnu (Vishnu is the Lord who is called organizer), Guru Devo Maheshwarah means Guru is the Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer), Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Parbrahma viz. the supreme god or almighty.
Remarkable and ancient stories about Student-Teacher bond:
1)     Dronacharya- Arjun
Serving as a teacher for the royal prince, Dronacharya found that Arjun was an extraordinary student. Starting from the first test, Dronacharya saw immense determination and focus in him that he predicted that one day he will become a great warrior. Seeing such immense talent in Arjun, Dronacharya bestowed him with special wisdom of the Devshastras and the mystical bow of Brahma. Dronacharya was so fond of Arjuna that he promised him that he will make him the greatest in the whole world but then once he encountered Eklavya who had the ability to beat Arjun but he believed Dronacharya as his teacher so in order to keep his promise to Arjun, Dronacharya asked Eklavya to cut his thumb and give to him as Guru dakshina (Fees) and Eklavya sacrificed his thumb happily for his guru.
2)     Sandipani- Krishna, Balrama
Sandipani was the teacher of Lord Krishna and Balrama. Both the brothers along with their friend Sudama went to study at Guru Sandipani’s Ashram. After the completion of their studies, they asked him to name his Gurudakshina. Sandipani asked Lord Krishna to restore his son lost in ocean at Prabhas. Both the brothers went in search of his lost son. When they reach Prabhas, they found that his son had been taken hostage by the demon Shankhasur beaneath the ocean. They saved Sandipani’s son from the demon and handed over to him.
3)     Pashurama- Bishma
Parshuram took vow of never teaching to the Kshatriyas. He was never against the caste but due to the Adharmic path of Kshatriyas in which they keep themselves busy in enjoyments, drinks and women. But, Parshuram taught Bhishma, even though he was a Kshatriya because Bhishma was not a tyrant and was a follower of moral Dharma. Morover, Parshuram was a Rishi and the incarnation of God, he could easily see that Bhishma was not an ordinary man, thus Parshuram liked him, broke his vow and accepted him as his pupil and taught him.
4)     Vishwamitra- Rama
Rama along with his brothers received their education from the royal teachers under the guidance of Vasishta. By the time Vishwamitra approached King Dasaratha ot take Rama and Lakshman along with him, who taught them mantras ‘Bala’ and ‘Atibalas’ to ward off hunger and thirst.
 How to celebrate Guru Poornima?
Guru Purnima is usually celebrated by worshipping and expressing gratitude to the Gods who are like our Gurus. In monasteries and ashrams, disciples offer prayers in the honour of their teachers. Dr Vishakha suggests what to do on Guru Purnima, “On this day, one should dedicate oneself to following the guru’s principle and teachings and put them into practice. Guru Purnima has the importance of Vishnu puja attached to it. 'Vishnu Sahatranam' also known as the thousand names of Lord Vishnu should be recited on this day. Be in sync with self and channelise your energies on this auspicious day.”
IMPORTANT TEACHERS OF MY LIFE
According to me, our own life is our best teacher.
“Forget what hurt you, but never forget what taught you.” ~Unknown
So let’s take a moment and appreciate what our lives taught us. Right from the beginning as a child we are told what we can do and what we cannot. But a child’s mind is curious and often when we are not told the reason why we can or cannot do certain things, we do them anyway. Sometimes we get hurt and sometimes that makes us happy. But at the end it is a lesson in itself.
Living in a society, we are surrounded by people of different walks of life. We interact with people on a daily basis and knowingly or unknowingly each lesson teaches us something. We might not remember what we studied in school but we’ll always remember what life taught us.
Very often, life throws unexpected circumstances at us. Sometimes we don’t even want those situations in our lives and we end up questioning ourselves that ‘why only me?’ But at the end of it we know that those circumstances teach us endless lessons; lessons about ourselves, lessons about others, lesson about our hidden abilities and talents and most importantly ways to deal & even overcome such circumstances for future.
We never have to face the same problem twice.
Always follow your intuition. Listen to your inner voice. It knows you better than anyone else.

Who was Goswami Tulsidas?
Tumblr media
Goswami Tulsidas was a famous poet and Hindu saint. He loved Lord Rama, who was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During his life, he wrote many texts and books, but Ramcharitmanas, an epic poem about the life of Lord Rama, is what most people remember him for.
Know why is Tulsidas called Goswami? Get an online astrology consultation by the world-renowned Astrologer Mr. Alok Khandelwal.
Tulsidas lived all of his life in Vanarasa and Faizabad. In Vanarasa, there are 88 Ghats. One among them is Tulsighat, a place where Goswami Tulsidas wrote Ramcharitmanas and which is named after him.
Tulsidas was the first to put on Ramlila, a dramatic play about Rama’s life based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Tulsidas also built the Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi, which is a temple for Mahabali Hanuman.
Tulsidas is a highly respected and well-known poet in India and all over the world. So, swami Tulsidas has affected modern education, popular music, art, movies, and TV.
The Sanskrit word “Tulasidasa” is where the word “Tulsidas” comes from. The word “Dasa” means “maid, servant, or slave,” and “Tulasi” is the name of a holy Hindu basil plant that is used to worship Lord Vishnu.
Goswami Tulsidas's life story
The exact date of Tulsidas’s birth is different according to each biographer. Based on Mula Gosain Charita, one group of biographers said that Tulsidas was born in 1554 B.S. On the other hand, a group of biographers led by Sant Tulsi Sahib and Hathras said that the birth year was 1568 Bikram Sambat. Biographers of today and even the Indian government believe that Tulsidas was born in 1554 B.S.
One story about how Tulsidas was born says that he came into the world after a year. He was born with 32 teeth, and a body like a five-year-old, and instead of crying like other babies, he would say “Rama.” So, they called him Rambola. Mula Gosain Charita says that Tulsidas was born in the star to sign Abhuktamla, which means that his parents were in danger. So, on the 4th day after he was born, his parents left him.
A Vaishnava muni named Narharidas took Rambola in when he was five years old and began teaching him. After Virakta Diksha, Rambola changed his name to Tulsidas and began his philosophical journey. He learned Sanskrit grammar, the Vedas, the Vedangas, and Jyotish in the holy place of Vanarasa.
Goswami Tulsidas authored texts, books, poems, and songs throughout his life. Based on the language, the biographers divided the 12 works into 2 groups. They’re;
Awadhi literature
Ramcharitmanas
Tulsidas wrote this epic poem between 1523 and 1623 B.S. It was one of Tulsidas’s best and earliest works. It is a long poem that tells all of Lord Rama’s stories from Valmiki’s Ramayana. “Ramcharitmanas” means “lake of Lord Rama’s accomplishments.” Ramcharitmanas has been called the “living sum of Indian culture” and “the greatest book of all devotional literature,” among other things.
Ramlala Nahachhu
It talks about what happened to Lord Rama when he was young and is made up of 20 Awadi verses written in a Sohar metre. In the Hindu ceremony of Nahachhu, a child’s toenails are cut.
Barvai Ramayan
It has 69 verses written in the Barvai metre. It is a shorter version of Valmiki’s Awadhi Ramayana.
Parvati Mangal
Also, it means that Devi Parvati got married. It is 162 verse, of which 148 verse is in the Sohar metre whereas 16 verse is in the Harigitika metre. It tells how hard Devi Parvati worked to make Lord Shiva her husband, and how they got married.
Janaki Mangal
It means that Devi Sita got married. It has 216 stanzas written in both Hamsagati metre (192 stanzas) and Harigitika metre (48 stanzas) (24 stanzas). The story of Lord Rama and Devi Sita’s wedding from the original Ramayana is told in this work by Awadhi.
Ramagya Prashna
This means finding out what Lord Rama wants. It is an Awadhi work with 343 Dohas that are split into seven books, or kandas.

Braj literature
Krishna Gitavali, also called Krishnavali, is a collection of songs that people say Lord Krishna wrote. It is made up of 61 songs. 32 hymns show Krishna’s childhood play (Bala Lila) and Ras Lila. The other 27 songs show Krishna and Uddhava talking. The last two lines describe what happened when Draupadi took off her clothes.
Gitavali is a collection of 328 songs in the Braj language that tell the story of the epic Ramayana.
Dohavali is a set of 573 verses written in the Braja dialect in the Doha and Sortha styles. It talks about things like being kind, knowing about politics, and the goals of life.
Vairagya Sandipini is a Braj work with 60 verses that talks about the scenario of Jnana (knowledge, realization), Vairagya, ethical behavior, and a saint’s eminence.
Vinaya Patrika is a collection of 279 songs. Its name, “Letter of Petition,” comes from what it is. In front of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan, who were the judges, it was authored as a petition against 6 passions: lust, anger, selfishness, drunkenness, proximity, and self-esteem.
Sahitya Ratna is a 325-verse poem in the Braj language.
Besides these important works, Tulsidas also wrote Hanuman Chalisa, Hanuman Ashtak, Hanuman Bahuk, and Tulsi Satsai, which are not as important.
Lessons from Tulsidas
God is the origin of all good things, and he has no shape, no name, and no birth. Everything is inside of him, and he turns into an individual to assist those who believe in him.
There is just one God, but arrogant people have made up many different kinds of God.
Every living thing has parts of God in it. So, treat them all with respect.
Good intentions bring happiness and wealth, while bad intentions bring sadness and pain.

Life Lessons from Rama!
Some words are just so pure that they taste like nectar on your lips. Rama is one such word! As you speak the word Rama- you open your mouth to utter Ra and close it to say Ma. It is said that your entire life is encapsulated in the opening and closing of the mouth, as it is in ‘Rama’.
Tumblr media
I have beautiful memories of listening to the story of the Ramayana from my late father Justice MM Punchhi. I also remember fondly, reading the Amar Chitra Kathas like Valmiki’s Ramayana, Rama, The Sons of Rama, and Tales of Hanuman etc. It was when I was in my teens that the Ramayana TV serial made by Late Ramanand Sagar was telecast. What really clarified a lot of things and left deep impressions on my mind was that TV serial. It was very well made and the dialogues weaved magic.
When our children were small, they watched the Ramayana many times over on a VCR. They loved watching the battle scenes because they were hugely enamoured by the different kinds of arrows used by Rama, Lakshmana and even Ravana.
The story of Rama is something that teaches us how to live life. It tells us how a son should be obedient to the wishes of his father- as Rama obeyed Dashratha and went into exile for fourteen years. It expounds what kind relationship one should have with siblings.  The four brothers Rama, Lakshmana, Bharat and Shatrughana were united at all times. There was no jealousy or ill will amongst them.
Rama loved and respected his wife Sita and took the vow of having only one wife although at that time kings used to have many wives. Sita was an ideal wife. She accompanied her husband to the forest, though she was the daughter of a king and the daughter-in-law of a king too. She parted with all her comforts, family, jewels etc. She renounced everything and chose to be with Rama. Here, the story tells us that at one time she saw a golden deer and was tempted to own it. She asked Rama to get it for her. This led to Rama going to get the deer and in his absence, Ravana abducted Sita. There is a deeper meaning in this. When Sita renounced everything, she got her Lord.  When she got tempted by the golden deer (Maya) she got into trouble!
The role of a mother is exemplified by the teachings and advice given by Queen Sunaina, the wife of King Janaka, before the wedding of Sita and her sisters.
The role of a mother-in-law is epitomized in the way Queen Kaushalya gave her love to Sita.
Lakshmana represents the mind. He followed the footsteps of his brother Rama who was the embodiment of Dharma. When the mind follows dharma, no wrong can be done!
Hanuman was the embodiment of Devotion and service. Shabri and Ahilya were devotion personified.
The equanimity of mind displayed by Rama when he was told that instead of going for Rajya Abhishek, he must go to the forest is unimaginable. He did not wince even once! No Anger… no arguments… no explanations… no questions… only obedience!
Another essential lesson from the Ramayana is showing gratitude to whoever helps you. When Lord Rama was coroneted the king, first of all He expressed this gratitude to Hanuman for His help in searching for Sita and bringing information of her whereabouts. Next Rama expressed gratitude to Jatayu, who had tried to help Sita while Ravana was carrying her away to Lanka, even at the cost of his own life. Then Rama thanked Sugriva for his help in providing the Vanara sena that fought the battle with Ravana’s army. He then thanked Vibhishan for solving the mysteries of many demonic illusions created by the Demons. Lastly he thanked the Vanaras who had selflessly fought for Rama.
Vibhishana’s divulging the knowledge known to him and his brothers Ravana and Kumbhkarana, was a turning point that helped Rama kill Ravana. This led to the saying, ‘Ghar ka Bhedi, Lanka Dhaaye’. If someone who knows the secrets of the family joins hands with the enemy, it can even cause the downfall of an empire!
The Ramayana story is a story that is repeated in every household at some time or the other. There is so much to learn from it. Some parts in the Ramayana may seem to be undesirable or abstruse to the common man but to the enlightened, they all have explanations. They were all essential to the larger picture … The ideals set up by Rama are a guiding light on how to maintain unity and harmony in the family. Ram-Rajya was known for it being based on justice and morality.
When each family is happy and united, harmonious and content, then the society too will be at peace. When there is harmony in society, the Nation will prosper and there will be peace in the world.
As Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba said,
“If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nations.
When there is order in the nations,
there will peace in the world.”
Dear reader, If you like the piece, do leave a message for me in the comments section below. I would be happy to hear from you.

Part 90 Alignment May Vary: Pieces of the Past
There is an adventure for 4th Edition called something like The Return to the Tomb of Horrors. It is an adventure centered around the infamous lich Acererak and his various Tombs of death. One of the more fun parts of the adventure takes PCs to the Tomb of Horrors... only it’s decades after the Tomb’s first opening and the tomb has been raided and destroyed by the thousands of PCs that have come to it since that time.
I mention this, because ever since I read that module, I’ve wanted to do something similar: bring players back to a place that was familiar to them. The Tomb of Haggemoth, which featured so heavily in our campaign and plot, was the obvious choice and there was at least one loose end left in the Tomb that I felt would serve as a good hook: an ancient celestial being, trapped in a rock. Around the time of this session, I had finished working on a revival of Haggemoth, bringing it into 5th Edition with its original creator, Robert Kendzie (you can learn more about that here). As we updated a lot of the final dungeon, it felt like I now had an appropriately “changed” setting to bring the players back to.
So for this next section of the adventure, we return to the past. We return to Haggemoth.
Tumblr media
New Waterdhavians
The set up for this return begins in Waterdeep, with Imoaza and Milosh morose after the failure at Maakengorge and the sacrifice of Ruze. Milosh especially, has lost his entire sense of identity and nearly quits the group entirely. His only consolation is that armor has been left for him by Vraath Keep’s smith, who had promised to build him a new face. It is a wonderful piece of armor that gives him a humanoid looking face shield to cover up the damage done by Dragon fire back on the asteroid. But he also saw that smith dead in the Maakengorge temple. Everything reminds him of his failure at this point. Only one thing keeps him involved: Illrastayne.
This is the blade he took from the Abyss, the blade which contains the soul of the bard-turned-warlock Bitterberry (and his Demonic patron) and which Milosh used extensively in the Abyss but has shunned since. He decides to rid himself of the blade, almost on a whim. He is aware that it has a demon inside of it and wishes to have no connection to anything which might impede his freedom, whether it be Surveyor, Primus, or this accursed sword. But when he tries to rid himself of it, he finds he cannot. The sword will not leave him. More than that, it taunts him, telling him in a demonic voice inside his head that in his despair, the blade has latched ever more deeply onto his heart and soul and that soon it will have him completely. Determined to find a way to destroy the blade, Milosh seeks out the Shaman from the ice tribe, who survived the events at the Maakengorge and is with the refugees in Waterdeep. The Shaman tells him there is a place called Rori Rama, where the first contract between the Demon was struck and that is the only place now where the blade can be destroyed.
It is around this time that Carrick returns to the party. Yes, Carrick! If you don’t recall him, he was the prior character that Ruze’s player had created and played for many many sessions, finally losing him in the Abyss during Esheballa’s insane game. But that was only the end of the original Carrick. Carrick’s backstory involved the inadvertent merging of his soul and personality with the energy of the final Surveyor, and so when Carrick died, his soul was borne back to Faerun to awaken in the last vessel the Surveyor had left there: a final body left safely in the ruins of the Fane, whose Yuan Ti temple had been reduced to rubble by the actions of Imoaza, Aldric, and the original Carrick during the final campaign of the Red Hand.
Carrick comes to Milosh and asks him to accompany him on a final task. You see, Carrick has worked out a good portion of the prophecy and its meaning. He believes that the players haven’t actually failed to stop the prophecy. Instead, he tells them that this is what HAD to happen in order to stop it: the three had to be one. Only when together could they be defeated. To recap, according to the prophecy, the PCs will need to bring together four objects to destroy the three and halt Chaos’ advance into the world. The pertinent lines are thus:
Four things must gather to alter fate’s course The Sword, The Shield, the The Stone, The Source Then upon the throne the three must be Before they can meet their destiny
Carrick says the sword is almost certainly Imoaza’s Black Razor. The Stone he believes is a piece of the Surveyor’s Jade stone that caused so much trouble early in the campaign, years ago. He went out on a mission of his own to retrieve it (one that wasn’t played in the course of our adventures, but was occurring while the players were at the Sea of Moving Ice). In speaking with Imoaza and learning what she found out from the library on the iceberg, Carrick now believes the Source is a piece of Primus himself. Karina, before her demise, had spoken to him at length of her past adventures and mentioned that Abenthy had begun calling himself an “Inevitability of Justice” after surviving Haggemoth’s tomb. Carrick, with the knowledge of the Surveyor living within his own memories, knows of the creations of Primus, and Abenthy’s wording stands out to him: “Inevitability.” Carrick believes an Inevitable is still in Haggemoth’s Tomb and that Abenthy encountered it. The Inevitables are celestial beings, created by the hands of Primus itself in the plane of Mechanus, where Law and Order is unquestionable. And there is one being, Carrick believes, who can channel the power of that Inevitable.
“Oh great,” Milosh said, seeing the visage of the surveyor looking down at him from the alley’s entrance. “This again.”
Years ago, a surveyor had taken Milosh from the depths of failure and despair and built him a new identity. But now Milosh had remembered, remembered everything, and again he had failed. He didn’t want a third chance. He wanted to go away. He wanted the world to go away.
Carrick knelt beside him. “We’re not very different, you and I,” he said. “Both of us have experienced death. Each has had our own failures. And we’ve been brought back to do more. We have been brought back to save the world.”
Milosh scoffed. “I have no world.”
“No. You have a million. Every world is yours to protect. That was your mission. It is your mission.”
“I’ve lost a lot already.” Milosh paused. “You remember Aldric, right? Did you know Imoaza killed him? I found it out from a book we got, from this old elf in a frozen library. You trust this group to save a world? We can’t even trust each other.”
Carrick stopped and considered what Milosh had said. “We all have to answer for our past actions,” he said. “Some answer in different ways. I believe Imoaza is going through her own changes. And I... I am no longer exactly who I was before. I am not Carrick. But I am not the Surveyor, either. But I am both. Do you remember the sacrifice I made as Carrick? Sometimes sacrifices have to be made. Sometimes we can avoid them. But if you walk away here, you walk away from the sacrifices we have all made.”
“Maybe I don’t care.”
“You’ll also walk away from yourself. You want freedom? Then you need to face what it is that you are afraid of. Or else you’ll never be free from it.”
While Milosh is struggling to come to terms with what he should or should not do, Imoaza begins to investigate the politics of Waterdeep, concerned by the boast from Nazragul that he had agents in Waterdeep’s council, planted there to change the teleportation destination from Vraath Keep to the Maakengorge, which is how he trapped Karina. Her investigations, which involve her ingratiating herself to certain people in disguise and exploring the homes of certain nobles, reveals to her that Yuan Ti have infiltrated Waterdeep and are turning its citizens and lords against the cause for which Imoaza and the companions fight.
These discoveries will have importance for upcoming sessions, but for now they linger as unresolved hints of danger, for it is time for the group to head to the tomb.
Tumblr media
Return to the Tomb
“The island was warded against dragons,” Argent explained, as the bronze dragon circled down towards the island of Rori Rama. “We knew where it was, we could practically taste the magic and gold Haggemoth had accumulated, but we couldn’t get close to the island. Like an itch you couldn’t scratch. Even now, this is as close as I can come.”
For three weeks, the companions (plus Breath Giver, Milosh’s personal healer from the ice tribe) had flown via dragonback away from Waterdeep, across the Moon Sea, and towards Rori Rama, to find the Inevitable trapped inside the old tomb. They had stopped at several locations which would have been familar to Karina. They had stopped to buy provision in Ottoman’s Docks, which had changed little in a hundred years, except that it had doubled in size. They had roosted one night on a beach of a deserted island with a huge spire rising out of its middle (the site of the LaCroix mansion, though they didn’t know it). They had flown to Celaenos and spent a night as guests of the Sisters, the Keepers of the Library, who had taken over the monastery after the Knights had been murdered decades earlier. They spent a night at the island of the Oracle, and though they lacked the money to see the ageless Oracle, the monks who protected her let them at least stay on the beach for free.
Eventually they reach Rori Rama, but the closest Argent can get them is at the base of the inactive volcano which contains Haggemoth’s tomb. Breath Giver stays with Argent while the three companions use fly spells to reach the volcano’s crater and there find a way down a mysterious shaft delved into the mountain itself. The shaft takes them directly into Haggemoth’s inner sanctum, skipping the first level of the tomb entirely (I intend this to be a revisit of this infamous area, not a full rerun of it).
This high ceiling of this long chamber is held up with stout columns and the floor is tiled in marble. The rotting remains of a pair of couches can be seen towards the center of the room, along with some long-dead potted plants. Several doors lead off of this room, though some are damaged. The space is lit by arcane-looking lanterns hung from the columns, but the far end of the hall is lost in shadow where part of the ceiling has collapsed and the lamps have failed. Strange sounds echo in the distance – sounds of movement and the occasional animal like cry.
I am not going to detail all of the explorations the players make of the old tomb. There are many little rooms and surprises the players encounter, but only a few are of key importance to the plot, and I want to focus on those, the things that have changed for the worse since the last time they were here.
First, there is a new character that makes his appearance in this ruined tomb. His original name is unknown, if in fact he ever had one, but the group comes to know him as “The Painted Mummer.” He lives in paintings left behind by Haggemoth, and takes multiple disguises, different for each painting, from a feasting king to a hunchbacked dwarf. He interacts with the PCs as they explore the Sanctum, sometimes giving them dubious advice, at other times leading them through interactions with some of Haggemoth’s left over magics. For instance, they try to make a potion of invulnerability in his old study, guided by the Mummer in the guise of a twitchy scholar in a painting in the room. This ends in disaster as the potion explodes, due to them not identifying the proper heart needed for the potion (they use a Grell heart instead of a Hook Horror heart). They do get some hints that not all is well, such as when they identify some dead bodies hidden in a painting of a snowy mountain, and occasionally even get a glimpse of the Mummer’s real persona, a gaunt, tall figure dressed in skin tight black and wearing a theatrical mask, one half of which is sobbing and the other half is giving a menacing and angry snarl. Eventually, they learn to be wary of the Mummer and start burning his paintings whenever they find him in them. This only angers him the more and he begins to stalk them from room to room, not always able to do anything to them, not always even seen by them. But he watches, and he waits.
Cliff notes: The Mummer was an idea Robert and I came up with for the 5th Edition version of Haggemoth. He wanted to do more with the Inner Sanctum and was interested in maybe using the paintings to have some effect on the environment. I was thinking of GladOS from Portal, and liked the idea of an insane groundskeeper, something which was initially built to be helpful but has become broken and corrupted by time.
Secondly, while they explore, the PCs are occasionally accosted by otherwordly purple tentacles, that seem to sprout from the air itself, or the floor. The Ethereal, they discover when Milosh tries to enter it, has been completely dominated and overtaken with these tentacles, and they attack the PCs on two major occasions, sucking out not only their life, but their spell power, draining their spell slots and destorying their magical shields and other effects. The most memorable fight against them takes place in the old dining hall, where an unnatural darkness forces the PCs to fight blind against the tentacles, all the while looking for a key to a special door in Haggemoth’s Sanctum. The PCs get very creative here, with Milosh destroying parts of the ceiling to drop on the tentacles, Imoaza using the Weave Sight to be able to locate the Tentacles, and Carrick using fire and ingenuity to set up a kind of napalm effect that he uses to keep the Tentacles away from him. The scariest part is when the Mummer causes dozens of animated knives and dishes to animate around the room and swarm the players, only to have the Tentacles latch on to this living magic and erupt from the cutlery and dishes, surrounding the players with swarms of essence draining tentacles!
Another scary room involves an illusion created by the Mummer with the aid of some hallucinigenic spores. This grabs Milosh especially, and he runs into what he thinks is a vision of his old life on Eberron, where he is at a ballroom dance. He happily joins in the merriment, and takes a bite out of a thick pastry of some kind, bursting with whipping cream and flavor.
Only, what’s really happening is that he’s surrounded by Rust Monsters, absolutely attracted to his metallic form, his addled mind showing them as laughing and dancing humans. Imoaza and Carrick see through the illusion before he does, and watch as he takes a bite of what he thinks is a pastry... it is actually a larval Rust Monster, its guts and ichor spraying across his face as he bites into it.
Suffice it to say, this is not an encounter that the PCs end up liking, but it is a memorable one. By the time it is over and they flee the room, Milosh has had half his face (just restored!) eaten off.
They eventually discover a scrap of painting in a room which also contains the broken summoning circle Haggemoth used to summon the Inevitable of Justice, centuries ago. The painting shows a gnome, who swears he is not the Mummer, but seems terrified of the Mummer. He tells them his name is Lhu-Ee and he is the last surviving painter dweller, aside from the Mummer, who murdered all of the others. He explains that the paintings were created by Haggemoth to hold his knowledge and to keep him company. They are like phylacteries, holding the souls of creatures Haggemoth pulled from beyond the grave to shape to his purposes. When he prepared to depart this plane, he “turned off” the paintings, intending to let the souls rest forever. But something went wrong. Others (Karina, Abenthy, Xaviee, and Bitterberry) came into the Sanctum and their presence awoke the Paintings again. But with no Master to direct them, the Mummer went mad. Originally designed to entertain Haggemoth and be a companion for him, in his absence he declared that the paintings had failed their master and needed punishing. Only Lhu-Ee escaped his wrath, by hiding in a torn scrap of painting. He offers to go with the party in his scrap, if they’ll keep him safe from the Mummer.
Lhu-Ee knows more than just the history of Haggemoth. He is an expert on the Abyss and the Ethereal, filled with Haggemoth’s knowledge of those planes. He tells them that what’s happening to the Ethereal now is a sign of a being trying to weaken the boundaries between this plane and the Abyssal plane, with disastrous results.
“Why,” he says, pushing his oversized turban back up on his head, where it promptly falls down again. “It could be the end of the world!”
* * *
This is part one of a two part post. There’s a lot that needed to be set up this time, so I wanted to break the posts up to make it a little more manageable. And ya know, maybe also stretch this blog out just a little more. We are coming close to the end.
But not quite yet! Haggemoth’s final resting place still awaits the players, and more beyond that!

@allegoriesinmediasres wanted more of this AU!
1. It is after the first flush of happiness fades that Lakshmana has the leisure to really think about what his brothers said, the stories they tell of those in Ayodhya, and then his chest tightens with alarm as he blurts out, “And Urmila?”
Then the story comes out; of her thirteen years of constant sleep, a puzzle for physicians at first but now accepted as simply the way things are. His brothers say the words blithely, and Lakshmana wants to marvel at how unconcerned they can appear by now--but the wound is new, and hard, and bitter, for him.
That night he leaves Rama in the care of the other two--they are here now, it is safe to do so--and closes his eyes firmly, willing himself to doze for the first time in so many years. To think that he had been proud of his endurance, imagining it was of his own doing! No, instead, Urmila had paid the price and he had only taken it, and her, for granted.
Regret, especially when belated, does little as ever to mend what he’s set wrong; sleep stubbornly eludes him, try though he might. In the last few minutes before sunup, he thinks he feels a woman’s lips on his forehead and a woman’s voice whispering into his hair: It doesn’t work that way, you know.
He never speaks of it again.
2. Bharata goes with the vanara prince to deliver last-minute peace negotiations to the Lord of Lanka. Once the thought of it would have terrified him, back when he knew himself to be Rama’s inferior in every way; now, after years of practice, he is assuredly adequate, if unenthusiastic about the practice of diplomacy.
There are no thrones of tails for him, no challenges to uproot a firmly placed foot--Bharata simply leans back and watches with faint amusement, silently noting the warriors who crowd within Ravana’s halls. Rama will need to know all this, and more, if he is to win.
Before all is done, and Angad, with Bharata on his back, soars high above Lanka’s ramparts, Bharata bids him stop just for a moment. Not too long, of course; only so that he might tie a banner bearing Ikshavaku’s sigil upon Lanka’s highest peak, where it can be seen even from the far-off reaches of an ashoka garden.
Let his sister know she is not forgotten, by any of them.
3. Shatrughana is sick, the first night of the battle.
He has always believed he knew what to expect from battle--blood and brutality, of course--but this is unknown and unexpected. For every hero who is mourned on either side, a thousand more fall unnoticed. It is easier, Shatrughana supposes, to reduce them simply to a signifier of status, a whispered description of how many fell at a single man’s hand.
That is not enough. He might be the youngest of Ayodhya’s princes, the one never trusted with any responsibilities past those forgotten by all others--but this is simply one more of them.
He will remember the dead, even if no one else does.
4. “Father will never forgive me,” Rama says, hollowly, as he cradles his brother’s cold body. “Better if I die here myself.”
“What nonsense,” Bharata snaps--always the voice of reason, even when they were boys. “Father would never forgive us if we didn’t bring you back; do you suggest we all give up our lives, one after another, like toy soldiers knocked over by children?”
5. Rama’s face is resolute, even before wails from the vanaras and protests from the rakshasis who have grown fond, despite themselves, of their charge. Sita, who burns within with anger, steps closer to the pyre, the better to burn without as well.
But two bodies step in her way.
“Our brother doubts you because you have been torn from his presence for twelve months’ time,” says Bharata, “but we have been parted from him for thirteen times as many years. How, then, can he trust us again? We are banished, just as you are, my sister.”
Shatrughana looks up at her, wide-eyed and pleading, the sole member of Ayodhya’s royal family who has never incurred either Sita’s suspicion or temper. “Will you leave us to fend in this world alone? Surely not.”
They turn then, to face their eldest brother, a silent challenge in their stares--and slowly, Rama lowers his gaze in shame.
