[From Seattle] Head south on I-5 towards Tacoma
Take exit 133 for WA-7S, stay left on the exit at first [follow signs for WA-7], then after the first interchange stay right and continue to look for signs for WA-7/Mt. Rainier
Exit right onto 38th St W 0.2 miles
Then left onto WA-7 S/Pacific Ave 9.6 miles
Slight left to stay on WA-7 / Mountain Hwy E / Pacific Ave S - Destination: Morton, Wa Stay on 7 for 30.6 miles
Take a right in Elbe to Stay on WA-7 / Covered Bridge crossing! Make sure you take the bridge route. Continue on Wa-7 for another 20 miles until you reach Morton, Wa.
[Gas up in Morton!! WA-7 goes right through the middle of town]
Turn left onto US-12 E to Yakima / White pass Follow US-12 for 16.8 miles
Turn right onto Wa-131 S/ signs for Mt. St. Helen's (bridge crossing almost IDENTICAL TO THE FIRST) 1.0 miles
Slight left onto Cispus Rd! This comes up quick so be prepared..
Cispus becomes NF-23 Continue for about 30 miles (these roads can be pretty terrible even when paved, take your time)
Around mile 23, you'll hit gravel which will continue for another 10 miles, hence the need for a 4x4 vehicle. To be fair though, we have gone this way with mostly only sedans so its POSSIBLE to do in a normal car.. just risky.
Around 30 miles down, there will be a clear split in the road that is not very clearly marked as to which roads are which, you will need to turn left there to stay on 23.
3 miles from there you will reach another large turn just after the pavement returns, turn left here to stay on 23, follow signs for Trout Lake, WA
Follow the paved part of NF-23 for 6.7 miles
The map point/gate entrance will be on the right, at the head of NF-8810, only 4 miles from the site. It crosses with the pacific crest trail. Look for the wizard on the first day until 10pm! There will be paper directions distributed at the site as well as a password provided to get the digital version. The password will be somewhere permanent at the site in case you arrive at an odd time and no one is manning the gate entrance.
___________________________
For the safety of the site and party goers we are going to be having a "gate entrance" (similar to a map point) some way down the road from the actual site.
The rest of the directions will be provided at the site in 2 potential forms.
One is to get them on paper from the person manning the gate!! The first day [August 16th] the gate person will be our good wizard friend, until 10 pm!!
The 2nd is to download the PASSWORD PROTECTED zip file below and enter the password that you will find located at the map point. This will open an image with a map and written directions from the gate to the site. THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO MAY ARRIVE WHEN THERE IS NO ONE THERE TO DISTRIBUTE MAPS. IT'S BEST TO HAVE BOTH OPTIONS IF YOU CAN.
Suggested program for opening zip files on Apple Platforms:
Zip & RAR File Extractor
Suggested program for opening zip files on Android platforms: RAR
Password Protected Zip File for part 2 of the directions:
Dropbox
or
TinyUpload
**[DOWNLOAD AND TEST THE ZIP FILE WITH AN EXTRACTION PROGRAM BEFORE THE EVENT! EVEN THOUGH YOU CANNOT ENTER THE PASSWORD. YOU WILL NOT HAVE INTERNET AT THE SITE AND WILL NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING READY IN ADVANCE. AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY PROTOCOL FOR PEOPLE WHO ARRIVE WHEN THE MAP POINT IS UNMANNED. THIS IS SO YOU CAN STILL GET THE REST OF THE DIRECTIONS]**
