#Hyrule made the lines
okay so I've recently been watching a whole lot of zelda videos especially theory videos and there's this one guy I was watching and he mentioned foundations of decay. (and I instantly subscribed like the emo I am) well I'm watch a Halloween special he did last year about vampires in Zelda and the first chapter is called "vampires will never hurt you" and so I'm like "oh he's serious about mcr that wasn't a one off joke" and now he's talking about a vampire mansion. so yeah I rlly think he's serious

i love thinking about the link and zelda from the original legend of zelda becoming friends because clearly if zelda could break the triforce of wisdom and travel throughout all the dungeons hiding the pieces herself she HAS to know how to fight. or at least to defend herself to some degree of capability. so i think they make friends when link is escorting her back to the castle after freeing her from ganon. link doesn't have his bow in zelda 2 so maybe he gave her his bow and they were just two kids making their way across their monster-infested wasteland of a kingdom and the entire time link is showcasing exactly how much of a feral little dude he is and zelda is looking at him like god he is such a freak. we have got to keep him

"(F/N)?" Zelda slinked her back against her chair, sinking into the worn, plush cushion that coddled her stiff vertebrae.
"Yes, Your Highness?"
"Please prepare the horses... We're going to take a little walk." She pinched the bridge of her scrunched nose. "If I am to look at these documents a moment longer, I believe my head will explode."
"But Your Highness, Link should be coming any minute now. We must discuss the security details for the upcoming ball." Your usually terse expression softened at the royal's groan. "But we can go out afterwards.”
"Yes, you're right... Apologies (F/N), I completely forgot about that meeting. Will anyone else be coming?"
"No, Your Highness. It will just be—“
Knock knock knock!
"Ah! Perfect timing." Zelda tapped a thick, disheveled pile of documents against her desk into a more manageable bundle. "Come in!"
The brass doorknob shifted slightly and clicked open, revealing Hyrule's most renowned knight. A pair of cobalt eyes went from you to the Princess and he bowed wordlessly.
"Link. Thank you for—“
A loud bang, then wood stuttering against stone, quickly followed by the airy splish of dozens of documents fluttering to the ground. You dove across the desk, grasping a few documents you were lucky enough to catch and watched the rest pool by the table’s legs.
"Oh Hylia—!”
"Your Highness! Are you okay?!" Your hand flew to the staggering princess, documents be damned; Link sprung to Zelda’s side and placed a restful hand on her shoulder.
"I-I'm fine, really...” She muttered, rubbing her sore knee. “Goodness, I'm so sorry for the mess. Let me clea—“
"Absolutely not, Your Highness. I’ll take care of it." You cut, already circling the desk and shuffling the disarrayed documents on the floor. Link joined you on his hands and knees, carefully scooping up piles of paper onto the desk and into your arms. A jolt of electricity shot through your heart as you felt worn leather chafe against your skin. You turned away, 'looking' for other scattered documents, and coughed out,
"Thank you Link, but please don't worry. I can take care of this."
A determined look gripped his features as he stared and shook his head. Without uttering another word, Link once again began gathering the parchment. A soft sigh left you, and an even softer smile graced your lips.
"Can you hand me that document, please? I think these go together... Oh, and... these have matching headings, so I'll take that and you can have those..."
Even in her mildly frazzled state, Zelda wasn't blind to the faint red that whispered the surface of your cheeks when Link got a little too close, or the shifty flash of Link's blues whenever your fingers 'accidentally' grazed his. As much as she wanted to jump in and rectify the mess she made, maybe... She should sit this one out. Enjoy the show. Or better yet... Hm... When was the last time you and Link had a day off?
In no time at all, all correspondence was off the floor and either in your arms or on the desk. Your fingers flew this way and that, reorienting texts right side up and shuffling this paper behind that, and this one goes over here, and wait… Shouldn’t these be bundled together?
"Once again, I apologize for the mess I had created. Thank you both for cleaning it up."
"No worries at all, Your Highness." You finally looked up and cast a warm smile at the knight. "Thank you for helping me, Link."
A bashful grin cracked the stoic man's lips and he awkwardly rocked his feet. All that extra motion certainly drew attention away from the fists tightening behind his back. Zelda cleared her throat and eyed some documents pertinent to the upcoming social.
"Right. Now that that's all settled, let's get down to business."
♤♢ ~~ ♡♧
"A-Ah... Mmph..."
The knight threw his head back, feeling his temples drum in time with his cock. Sweat dewed his ivory skin and his Adam's apple bobbed a name he dared not utter, lest someone discover the target of his hidden fantasies. A scene from earlier that day has been playing in his head on repeat, fueling the sensual fantasies that has drawn him awake past the midnight hours; his fist thumped faster against his thighs and his back careened toward the ceiling.
You—gorgeous, gorgeous you—bent over a desk grasping desperately for a document fluttering to the ground.
With slight modifications, of course. The hem of your dress pooled about your hips—hips he oh so desperately wished to sink his teeth and fingers in—your hands tied prettily against your lower back as he thrusts into you again and again, his fingers tenderly coaxing your feathery soft hair... But the best part? You looking back at him, tears stinging the corners of your eyes, and his name spilling out of those plump lips he yearned to taste.
He could hardly remember what the Princess had told him. Something about the security details for the upcoming ball, but Hylia only knew if he retained anything past that. All he could think of was you, you, you—the Princess's loyal, respectful, diligent, beautiful retainer. How he craved your presence! If only you knew how much he liked you! Oh, the things he dreamt of doing to you.
"Ngh... (F-F/N)...!"
♤♢ ~~ ♡♧
The garbled talk of Hyrule's high society bounced off the castle walls and the guards' helms, which flickered bright flashes of torchlight. A pair of cobalt eyes flitted about every corner of the room, filing away mental notes of the ball's invitees and the stream of people that flowed in and out of the ballroom. Link scooted along the wall—weaving around young, giggly wallflowers and decrepit, lonely barons in search of another wife—always making sure you the Princess stood in his line of sight.
After sending you away to drop off another gift at the crowded gift table, Zelda turned around with the polite smile most nobility had during these sizeable socials. She caught eyes with her loyal guard and slowly made her way over, skillfully avoiding conversation with the withdrawn, mysterious grace of a royal. Eventually, she found herself at the side of one of her most trusted confidantes.
"Link, I believe the next song shall be a waltz. Do you still remember how to dance?"
Link nodded dutifully, sensing an incoming question. Is Her Highness hinting that she wants him to ask her to dance...?
"If so, why not dance with (F/N)?"
Link, who happened to be swallowing his spit as she said that, hacked it all back up and proceeded to draw the most distressing and deprecating attention an introvert could draw to themselves in a single night. He turned to her, lovestruck panic evident in his eyes, and shook his head like a wet, storm-logged puppy.
"Now now, don't be shy! I'm sure she'd be happy to share a dance with you."
"Your Highness! There you are." A bright voice from yonder drew closer to the duo, and Link could feel himself shrinking. "I've been looking all over for you. Why are you all the way over here? Have you grown tired?"
The torpid, repetitive chords that most patrons had droned out this part in the night livened into a steady waltz. Link could feel Zelda's smirk and knowing gaze burn into the side of his head.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, but I assure you I'm fine. I just wanted to have a little chat with Link. But (F/N), you should dance! Enjoy yourself! You've been working far too hard these days."
"Thank you for your concern, but I would feel better if I were attending you."
"(F/N), don't be like that." She squeezed a gentle hand on your shoulder. "I'm saying this more as a friend than your queen. Please go have some fun. Maybe you'll meet your Prince Charming, just as you've always hoped you would.“
"Zel—Princess!" Your heart dropped to your stomach and a pair of hands immediately flew to cage Zelda's arms. "T-That was so long ago—I mean, I was only a little girl and—!"
A genuine, lighthearted laugh alighted your friend and she gazed at you with a sisterly fondness.
"Just teasing. It's always so fun to do so."
"Your Highness..." Your head hung as low as your spirits as you felt Zelda's frame shake from a stifled laughter.
"Your Highness?" All eyes turned to the clear, bold voice a few bodies past you. "Can I have this dance?"
The young suitor flashed a kind, dimpled beam as he held out a gloved hand to Zelda. The royal returned her own practiced, elegant smile and took his hand.
"I would be honored." She turned to you. "My apologies. I'm afraid I must go. But do have fun tonight, okay? You deserve it."
And with a swish of her gown, she was escorted through a parted sea of people to the middle of the dance floor. She locked eyes with you for a second, and cast a knowing tilt towards him.
You two were locked in a domain of stiff silence, both looking helplessly towards your mutual friend who had seemingly forgotten all about you. Link's timbers began shivering like no other as he replayed a thousand ways this night could go.
Freeing himself of his chains of self-doubt, he pushed himself off the wall and slowly made the short way over. Your heart had practically stopped pulsing while Link's was pounding away all breath from his lungs. He felt a sickly pallor drain his cheeks; he silently thanked the gods for the bright lights that filled his cheeks with artificial ruddiness.
"(F/N)...?" You turned, your thundering heart almost drowning out the Hero's squeak. "Can I have this dance?"
Pure, unadulterated sincerity crinkled Link's eyes, which held a certain life-like sheen typically absent for the soldier; for the briefest of moments, you felt that you were allowed a glimpse into his heart. Fighting the urge to scream 'til your lungs gave out was the understatement of the century as you dipped your fingers into his palm.
"I would be honored."
The small, anxious smile widened into one of pure delight as he led you further into the ballroom. He pulled you into the fringes of the waltzing couples and placed a steady palm close to your shoulder blades, inadvertently pressing you closer to him. Clothed fingers weaved through your own and pulled your hand away from your trembling frame. You could only hope he couldn't feel the aggressive thumping in your chest.
"Are you okay?" His voice rumbled in your ear.
"Y-Yes!" You blurted suddenly, your nerves not quite heeding your volume. You were practically melting from the stinging, judgemental stares thrown your way and you swallowed thickly.
"Yes, I'm okay. Thank you for your concern."
"We don't have to do this for very long if you don't want to." He muttered, his hand slipping to your waist as he dipped you. Your delusions led you to believe that his eyes lingered on your neck a moment too long... But surely your eyes were just playing tricks on you.
"It's just... Well, I'm rather nervous, so..."
You slowly turned your gaze upwards, peering through quivering lashes and fully expecting the knight's visage to be contorted in mockery; you were pleasantly surprised that his eyes held nothing but warmth for you.
"I understand." He effortlessly guided your next movements into a spin. "How can I help you feel more at ease?"
"Mm..." You unknowingly gave his shoulder a light squeeze, causing Link's heart to flutter. "Would it be all right if we talked some more?"
"Of course. What would you like to talk about?"
"Well... I've actually always wondered this, but have you always wanted to become a knight?"
"Hm... That's a good question." He chuckled, his hot breath tickling your cheekbones. "I wasn't particularly against it. As you may know, I come from a long line of knights, so it was only expected that I became a knight too."
"How did it feel when you found out you bore the legendary Triorce?"
"... Surreal." He concluded, a glimpse of wistfulness in his eyes. "My life hasn't been the same since."
"Oh... I'm sorry if this brought up difficult memories."
"Not at all!" His tired eyes snapped to life. "Yes, training became much harder after that and the pressures of the throne are very much there… But it wasn't all that bad. After all, I got to meet you—“
At the utterance of the last syllable, Link's face twisted into horror; not even the bright, warm lights could disguise his drained cheeks. You felt your entire face engulf in flames and screamed your heart out smiled shyly.
"That's... really sweet of you, Link. Thank you."
He cleared his throat and desperately wished for a Link-size hole to swallow him up this very second. Every gear in his brain cogged away as he chose his next words carefully.
"You and the Princess seem close."
"Yes..." A bittersweet comfort gripped your heart as deeply cherished memories flashed through your mind. "We were girls together."
"How long have you been her retainer?"
"Since we were very young. Like you, I come from a long line of individuals who serve the royal family and, well... Zel and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember."
"'Zel?'"
"O-Oh!" Panicked side glances jittered here and there; you let out a deep breath, thankful that no one heard your insubordinate casualness. "Please forgive me. That was a nickname I used to call Her Highness."
"No worries. I just... thought it was very cute."
The both of you were completely oblivious to the crimson that coated the other's cheeks—how could you be when your own face ran hotter than the lava at Death Mountain? You were startled out of your mushy haze with a bright, chime-like laugh.
"Her Highness was right. You are fun to tease."
Before you could retort some type of response, the ensemble played its final note. While all the other couples were separating and bowing to their dance partners, Link was quite slow to release you, and you were even slower to leave his arms.
"Thank you for the dance, Link. You are a wonderful dance partner."
"Likewise," he straightened his back, "I hope we can do this again."

Gods, you wanted to go to bed.
Your nice, warm sheets were all you could think of as you clicked the door to the Princess's bed chambers shut. You threw your arms above your head and groaned out the tension that had carved its way into your joints.
Your feet automatically led you down the long winding corridor, past the soldier's quarters and towards your—
"Mm... F-Fuck..."
Wait a damn minute.
Your feet ceased their dragging as a voice that sounded eerily similar to a certain Hero echoed nearby. You gripped your chest, as if that would quiet the thundering pounding in your ears.
… Silence...
Were you losing your mind?
Chalking whatever... that was to your perverted imagination, you once again began your trek towards—
"Ah...!"
—Link's room wait since when did you start moving in this direction oh gods oh Hylia
"Mmph! Fuck- yes- hah..."
The noises were undoubtedly coming from his room, your ear pressed against the door confirmed that. Your hand flew to your mouth as your knees locked in place, your ears feasting listening to the sinful whimpers and pants of Hyrule's sword and shield. You were thrown into the deep end, drowning in a cacophony of your own thoughts.
What the fuck holy shit what the fuck holy shit what the fu Was he alone? Wait, but the bed squeaked just now, so does that mean he’s with someone? And if so, who? But if he's alone... Who could he be thinking of?
This was wrong. This was so, so wrong of you to be violating his privacy like this. You would be mortified to learn that someone was listening to you pleasuring yourself—everyone's entitled to have these moments to themselves. So why couldn't you just... walk away?
"Mm... Oh, (F/N)..."
... Huh?
“I need you I need you I need you…” He slurred with sloppy breaths. Shame swelled within you as a wet heat pooled between your legs and wickedly delightful thoughts ruminated in your mind. Your chest constricted, sensing the crossroads that would undoubtedly decide your future relations with your long-time crush; you toyed with either option as carefully as your lust-hazed brain would allow. With your heart mere moments away from seizing, you carefully lifted your hand, suddenly aware of every muscle needed to execute the simple motion.
Four docile raps lisped the wood. You froze, the veil of sensuality finally lifted from your senses as the gravity of the situation bucketed you like cold water. Oh gods, what have you done? Your heart raged against your ribcage and beckoned you to flee! Run! There’s still time, go!
A quiet click.
A pair of blown-out pupils amidst a thin strip of blue peered out at you.
“L-… Link?”
“… Yes?”
You listlessly felt yourself move forward; sex-clung darkness draped over your bodies as you pushed yourself through the door, slamming your lips against his in heated desperation. Link returned your fervor with a fluidity that made you wonder if he’s fantasized about this as much as you have. You cocked your heel against the door, shutting out all unwanted light to carry out your feral desires in the dark.
He pressed you against the thin slab of wood, rough hands claiming residence in the plush of your hips while his lips conveyed a primal urge to claim. You didn’t hesitate in welcoming his tongue, feeling the hot muscle drag against your bottom lip and wrapping itself with your own in a sloppy but passionate dance. Thick golden locks tangled your fingers and you pulled him closer, closer, closer until his muscly frame was melded into yours.
He departed from your lips and quickly found refuge in the crook of your neck. His hot breaths dragged across your flushed skin, sending an anticipatory chill down your spine as he speckled your softness with nips and butterfly kisses. Large hands explored what they could, never settling in one place for long while his lips began imprinting deeply-colored marks by the junction of your neck and shoulder. His grabs and kneads were desperate, as if he fully believed that at any moment you would depart from him forever, leaving him with a ghost of what could have been.
Your chest heaved into his. Colors you’ve never seen before danced before your eyelids in a pandemoniac parade while hellish flames seared through your core. Link lapped and kissed and teethed your neck, relishing in the bit-back mewls that occasionally leaked out of you. The moonbeams that had passed through the clouds applauded the red desire he worked into your skin and Link felt a surge of boldness rush through him. After speckling your rising and dipping chest with his spit, he dropped lower and lower.
The cold absence of his hands didn’t go unnoticed by you, and before you could process what was going on, the unfamiliar cold that whipped your exposed legs pinched a yelp out of you. In one smooth motion, the Hero of Hyrule was under your dress and kissing the pillowy softness of your thighs—as he always dreamt of doing—silently worshipping Hylia’s masterpiece.
And oh, how he worshipped you. How each fiery, wet kiss was a prayer of gratitude to the goddess for creating someone like you. How every bite, every mark he left you with was all in the name of you, his true deity, and your moans that served as his gospel. By the end of the night, he was determined to have you chanting his name like some mantra that would bind you two past a one night stand.
Your heart roared in your ears, anticipation for where his lips would fondle next nearly causing the overworked muscle to implode; your legs nearly gave out when you felt his teeth graze the edge of your drenched panties. The lace dragged and coiled into a thin strip as Link buried his face into your sex, relishing the ambrosia he was to partake in. Before that though, his lips traced a languid line to your hips, which was promptly suckled and bitten with the gentleness of a doe. His fingers hooked themselves under your panties and, with painfully slow movements, dragged the nuisance down your hips, your thighs, and finally, the ground. With all obstacles out of the way, Link turned his attention back to your throbbing lips, licking his own with the hunger of a starved animal.
He wasted no time in burrowing himself into you, tonguing and lapping the juices that have dared to slip out and refusing to waste a single drop. His eyes rolled to the back of his head as he completely lost himself in you, rubbing tight circles into your clit with his thumb while drinking up whatever you could give him with his mouth. You bunched the noisome fabric about your waist, desperate to sink your fingers into his hair. He chuckled at your slightly buckling knees, and a wonderful idea flashed through his head.
He threw one of your legs atop his shoulder, and his heart nearly gave out from the sheer joy of seeing you spread like this. The new position allowed him deeper access into you, and a lone finger soon replaced his tongue’s sinful ministrations as the latter wrapped and toyed with your puffed-up bud. A full moan lapsed out of you in earnest and you unknowingly tightened around his digit. Link’s cock tented painfully against his pants, but he was set on having you cumming all over his face before he even thought about touching himself.
One of your hands anchored itself in his hair, knotting his disheveled locks into messy bunches that only grew wilder the faster he went. Uneven, haggard breaths and pleas for more echoed off his walls and Link had never been more pleased to carry out a request. His fingers and tongue would take turns wrecking you, never giving your poor clit and drenched entrance a break as he tongue-fucked and fingered you closer and closer to blissful oblivion. Link knew the milky white end was in sight, and he eagerly pressed his tongue flat against your cunt.
“Cum for me… Fuck, give it to me. I need you to cum in my mouth…”
His filthy request buzzed mind-shattering tingles to the deepest parts of your core, finally tipping you over the edge. You fell from a high you’ve never experienced before and your orgasm was borderline violent. A silent scream left your gaped mouth and you collapsed, panting, quivering. Link’s heart and ego swelled at your blissed out face as he leisurely wiped the juices dribbling down his chin. He scooted closer to you and pressed a deep kiss against your lips, leaving traces of you in your mouth. He pulled away with a pop, a smile, and an effortless huff as he carried you to his bed.
You were still fighting to regain some semblance of normal breathing when he set you down on his sheets. He pressed a soft kiss to your forehead and pulled away, taking a moment to relish in how you looked in your sensual vulnerability. His pulse quickened and his pants tightened further, eager for release, but Link was patient. He waited for your breathing to slow, caressing your cheeks and cooing praises into your ears. His tenderness was enough to almost lull you to sleep.
“(F/N)…” Adoration dripped from his tone. “Can we go further?”
You opened your eyes slightly and practically melted from the gentleness in his voice and the care in his eyes. With a soft, albeit tired smile, you nodded and traced small circles into his cheek. Puppy-like enthusiasm exuded off him and he kissed the tip of your nose, plucking a small giggle out of you.
“Just relax… I’ll take care of you.”
He worked the hem of your dress into a bulky bunch by your hips before throwing the whole thing over your head and gently discarding it on the floor. A soft, wonder-filled smile cracked his lips as he drank in all of you.
“You look beautiful… You are beautiful…” He murmured to the air, voicing his most private thoughts aloud. A slightly pruned finger traced down your sides. A shiver ran through your body and his name whimpered out of your mouth.
“Say it again.” He breathed shakily. “My name. Say it again.”
“Link…” You flushed under his piercing gaze. His expression flickered darkly for just a moment before his eyes crinkled warmly.
“You have the prettiest voice, you know that?” He nuzzled into your neck. “I can listen to you for hours.”
“Link…” You cradled his face in your palms. “You don’t… have to hold back. I’ll let you know if anything hurts.”
His eyes widened before a small chuckle left him.
“We’ll get there eventually, I promise. For now though…” His lips coupled with yours in tender obsession. “I want to make you feel good tonight.”
While his lips reunited with your own, his fingertip traced lazy patterns from your chest, down to your stomach with swirly circles, and finally in between your legs. He moved his hands with battle-hardened precision, skirting around your still-pulsing clit, being extra careful not to overstimulate you yet. The simple trail coaxed the neediest whine out of you and you jutted your hips up and down, side to side. You could feel him smile into the kiss.
“Eager, are we?” He purred, skimming the surface of his lips on your cheek before redirecting his efforts towards your nipples.
"Gods, look at you... You're so beautiful all spread out like this, just for me." His tongue swirled and sucked the perked bud while your other nipple rolled in between his thumb and index. He dragged the tip of his tongue from one nipple to the other, repeating the process again and again until he was satisfied with the glistening rawness. A long moan, honeyed with need and fringed with desire, escaped you as your back arched in toe-curling pleasure.
His fingers hastened their movements, circling the hardened pearl with calloused finger pads and teasing your slit, sometimes dipping the beginnings of a finger past its entrance. But it was never enough. Never, ever enough. Your pleas and cries and begging only sent Link further down this power trip, molding your sex-steeped senses however he wanted until you were a sobbing, hiccuping mess.
“Please Link…” You sputtered in between sobs, the knot in your gut constricting and loosening in sync with his tease. “I need you inside, please, please, please…”
“Shh…” He murmured, silencing your chants with a soft kiss. “Patience.”
“Link, please, I-I can’t—“
“Yes you can. Just a little more… Show me more of those lewd expressions.” A rough pinch on your clit scored a scream out of you and your eyes rolled to the back of your head. “Good girl… So pretty for me. You’re all mine, aren’t you?”
“Yes! Gods, yes! I’m all yours Link, so please—“
Your voice sputtered to a stop, caught in edged ecstasy as the friction you had been craving for for the past Hylia-knows-how-long was suddenly served at blinding speeds.
“This is what you wanted, right?” He cooed, his chill tone contrasting the growing flush in his cheeks. You squirmed and writhed uselessly under him as your mind blanked and reeled from the sudden onslaught of pleasure.
“T-Too fa— Link, you’re—! I’m—!”
You were practically catapulted into your next orgasm, but despite your shaking release, Link never let up—in fact, he picked up his pace until veins marbled the surface of his arms. Another orgasm was ripped out of you, then another, and another, all while Link whispered,
"Oh, sweet girl, I know you can do it. I know you can cum one more time... Just one more, c'mon..."
Nothing else mattered to you at that moment. Nothing in the world could pull you out of the ecstasy Link had so readily given you. The only sensations you were capable of feeling were the coiling and spasming release of your gut as the man before you worked you into a mindless little thing. Link’s heart swelled at the fucked-out, dazed look on your face and he finally released his cock from its clothed prison.
"Do I have permission to fuck you senseless?" He husked into your ear, tending to his weeping cock with the residual slick left on his fingers. You nodded your head vigorously, dumbed down to your most base desires.
He slotted himself in between your legs, rubbing and dipping his tip a little bit past your entrance before his patience snapped in time with his hips. A gaspy whine rasped out of both of you, thickening to sweet, candied moans for more.
You were so tight… So warm... So wet… He closed his eyes and steadied his breathing—a concentrated attempt to not just immediately cum on the spot. Link stretching you out choked a groan out of you and your arms clung tightly about his neck, clawing desperate lines into his back.
"Gods, you feel so good... So tight for me... You're just made for me, aren't you? Made to take my cock..."
His fingers doled soft dips into your hips, coaxing the tight muscles into releasing their tension. All you could do was nod fervently, your voice too hoarse and mind too fogged to formulate any words. Link pervaded every single one of your thoughts, and all you could really muster was a gaze into his darkened blues, glazed over with lust. It took every ounce of mental fortitude to keep Link from pounding you into his bed; he softly kissed away the tears that threatened to spill.
"I'm gonna start moving now... Are you ready?"
A nod; Link positioned himself until your noses were almost touching, braced his hands on either side of your head, and slowly rocked his hips. The simple, fluid motion ellicited a moan out of the man and a whine out of you, electric pleasure shocking you to your core. His watchful gaze gauged your reactions, your comfort always at the forefront of his mind.
He flooded you with kisses and deluged your senses in heartfelt tenderness. Your head rolled into his arm, nuzzling him, and he smiled softly.
"You're so cute... My heart just explodes whenever I see you..."
"Liiink..." You reached up to caress his cheek. He pressed further into your hand before turning his head and kissing your fingers.
"You're perfect. Everything about you is gorgeous." He breathed, his hips slipping into a racy tempo. Your breasts pooled and trembled with each thrust, which didn't go unnoticed by the starved knight. Sounds of wet suckling filled his room, accompanied by your airy mewls and calls for his name.
"Say my name..." He growled into your chest, eyes flitting to look at you through quivering lashes. "Say it again."
"Link..." You squeaked, hiding the lower half of your burning face behind trembling hands.
"Louder." A hand clutched your wrists and dragged them down, fully exposing your slutty expressions to his hawkish eyes.
"Link...!"
"Louder." He scurried to the crook of your neck and bit down. "I want everyone in this castle to know who's fucking you breathless."
"L-Link!"
His pace quickened, the steady rhythm degenerating into wild pistoning. Shaky, uneven breaths stretched into high-pitched whimpers while his hand fondled your abused clit, repeating the circling motion that had you seeing stars several minutes (hours?) ago. His lips traced the shell of your ear, your jaw, down your neck, and finally your lips. Again and again, his mouth met yours in messy passion, each kiss more crazed than the last. He pulled away just enough to see your sloppy expressions, a thin strand of spit connecting your moistened tongues.
"Can you cum for me one more time? Just one more, I promise."
"I can't, I can't—Link, I'll die—“
"No you won't, love." He crooned. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, just in time to see stars exploding into a symphony of colors. "Just one more. I know you can do it."
Your face scrunched in response to the nearing summit, the precipice that you had been thrown over more times than you could count. You could feel your core spasming and knotting and folding in on itself; Link was totally immersed, body and soul, in your essence as he neared his own powerful climax.
"You're all mine." He panted, his hips accentuating each word with increasing ferocity. "Mine, mine, mine."
A tremor unlike anything you've ever felt before rattled your bones. A voice unrecognizable to you called for Link as you released all over his twitching cock and sheets. Your violent clenching rocketed Link to cloud nine, who pulled out just in time to cover you with thick, white ribbons. His warmth splattered onto your thighs, your stomach, your chest—all of which still tingled from his earlier acts.
His quaking frame crumbled, landing squarely on top of you. Your breaths hitched and mixed with each other, and a satiated silence enveloped the room. Once Link had mostly recovered, he heaved himself off of you and draped a lazy arm over your spent form.
"Are you okay?" He rasped, smoothing the sweaty nest that your hair had become. "Let me clean you up."
You tried to lift an arm—a finger even—to assure Link that you were okay but gods if you had to exert any more effort you were certain you would disintegrate. Link swung his legs over the bed, tripped into his boxers, and hobbled over to a pitcher sitting on his desk. The clear sounds of liquid life flowing into a bowl were like music to your ringing, pulsing ears.
In just a few moments he was by your side, bowl, towels, and cups in hand. You tried to sit up, but the bed stuck to your back like a bond that could not be broken. The rough cloth gingerly wiped away Link's earlier messes, and he dipped the other towel in the bowl before patting your face with the same degree of care. The cool water against your flushed skin sent pleasant jolts through your body.
"How are you feeling?" He asked again, pressing his palm into your cheek and pulling you up to drink. "Are you hurt anywhere? Was I too rough?"
You took the most refreshing swig of water in your life, feeling your parched throat soften enough for use.
"I'm okay, Link." You croaked at last. How long had it been since you last spoke coherent sentences? "Thank you for taking care of me."
"Of course." His warm smile alighted butterflies in your stomach; however, his features faltered slightly and his eyes turned downcast. "I, um..."
Quiet hesitance warbled his voice into a gut-wrenching tune; you gently cupped his hands, running your thumbs over each scar as you steadily held his gaze.
"I don't want this to be a one-time thing, I want..." He sucked in a quivering breath. "To be with you."
A kiss, soft and sweet, silenced all the doubt pounding away in his chest. Your lips moved purposefully, taking time to convey all the pent-up feelings that had been swirling inside you for so long. You dangled your arms behind his neck as you pulled away, your eyes fluttering open to meet his blown-out pupils.
"I want to be with you too."
Relief unfurrowed his brows and relaxed his jaw.
"Really...?"
"Yes! Though to be honest, I've always pictured our first few moments together as a couple in a more... innocent setting." You gestured to... everything and Link's belly flexed in laughter.
"So did I. But gods..." His lips ghosted the curve of your shoulder, traveling up your neck, and ending at your ear. "You felt so good, (F/N)..."
"L-Link..." You whimpered, your body lowering back down while your now-lover towered above you. Without warning, an arm snaked under your knees and the other wrapped behind your back. With a yelp, you spilled into his arms and two towels fell into your lap.
"The baths are just around the corner." A soft warmth bloomed on the center of your forehead. "Let's get cleaned up, shall we?"
♤♢ ~ bonus scene ~ ♡♧
"Your Highness, are you sure about—?"
"Yes, yes! I've already got it all figured out. All you have to do is pack your things and go!" Zelda shoved two official-looking documents into your arms and scooted you and Link closer to the door. Your dug heels were no match for the princess's sudden prowess.
And what could those documents possibly be?
Why, records of a cabin rental in Faron Woods, of course!
"B-But what about Link? He's your personal knight, after all."
"I've already arranged security details with one of the squadrons. They will be watching over me until you both get back. In regards to who will be overseeing your duties, I have a few staff members who will help me keep track of everything."
"Your Highness—"
"It's decided!" Zelda exclaimed with more effort, her energy sapped from lugging two unwilling bodies. "You both have been working so hard, so I've been thinking about giving you a weekend off for awhile. Now that you're a couple, this is a perfect chance to have your own little romantic getaway!"
"Wait, Princess Zelda..." Link started slowly, the gears in his head churning away. "It says here there’s only one bed. If you didn't know we were a couple until now... Why did you prepare a cabin with a single bed for the two of us?"
"That...!" Though your back was toward the royal, you could clearly see the 'oh shit' expression on her face. The corner of Link's mouth twitched into an amused smile while your cheeks scarleted.
"Zel, I swear to Hylia, I'm—"
"—gonna have a wonderful time in the woods where you can be as loud as you want. Farewell, and safe travels!"
With one last push, Zelda managed to shove the two of you out of her office before a resounding slam sounded the finality of her decision. But Zelda's closing remarks hung in the air, thickening the atmosphere in blood-chilling realization.
"What's wrong?" Link's sing-song voice mismatched the gravity of of the situation.
"Oh gods... Oh gods oh gods oh gods... How many people do you think heard us last night?"
"Enough for the whole castle to know who fucked you breathless." His face lowered until you were eye-level with his mischievous simper.
"Link!"
"Her Highness was right—you are fun to tease."
"LINK!!!"

Accepting help: Tulin and the Champions
For all the problems I have with totk, one thing I love about it is the development of the sages, particularly Tulin.
His arc is about learning how to accept help from others, which is so interesting when compared to Revali, who was very isolated and had to be self reliant. Revali seemingly had no family or anyone else in his life to fall back on, and as a result he had to become the best possible version of himself as a warrior to make up for that. In BotW we see Revali go to EXTREME lengths to be the best warrior he can be.
Tumblr media
A comparison could even be made between Revali and the rest of the Champions. What they all have in common is that they all died alone in their divine beasts. No one came to rescue them. Zelda and Link had each other, and that’s ultimately how they both managed to survive the calamity. The champions had only themselves to rely on in their final moments, and in the end it wasn’t enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But back to Tulin, his arc (and to a lesser extent the other Sages arcs are about this as well) is about accepting help from others. Tulin has his parents, Link and the other Sages to fall back on. Tulin wanted to prove that he was strong enough on his own, but eventually realised that his strength came from those around him. Tulin receives the Great Eagle Bow when he shows that he can be strong AND accept help when he needs it.
Tumblr media
Even the new Sage’s powers are all designed in a way that reinforces this. The Champion’s abilities were all gifts that they honed to use by themselves, they used their powers to fight alongside their allies, but still their powers were never really meant to be used though a second party. In a way, their gifts are weakened when they are given to Link. For example Mipha’s Grace can only be used on Link in BotW, but when she was alive she could heal anyone.
Tumblr media
By contrast, the Sage’s abilities are supposed to be used with the aid of another, they are amplified by Link. Tulin’s gust is more or less useless to Tulin himself, but with another person it had a lot of utility. Yunobo requires someone to aim him to get the most out of his charge. Riju is still learning how to control her lightning and needs someone else to direct it. While Sidon could probably use the water shield on himself, Sidon wants to protect others, so his power manifests as a physical shield to protect his friend.
Tumblr media
This idea of the champions being isolated and not being able to receive much help from others makes a lot of sense. They were the last line of defence for Hyrule, they were the Plan B incase Zelda did not awaken her powers. When they became Champions, all of them were well respected warriors amongst their people, a lot of responsibility fell on them to be the protectors of not only their people, but all of Hyrule. For them to show weakness would mean Hyrule losing faith in their beloved champions.
Tumblr media
The new Sages have a support system that the Champions did not have, they are allowed to have faults and not be perfect, because they have other people to support them and I think that’s beautiful.

how I think different members of the chain would sneeze because I’ve fully lost my mind
wild:
before the calamity, he was one of those people who suppress their sneezes, mainly so that he could stay silent. anyone who saw him sneeze would hear a small sound and see him violently jerk with the force of the sneeze, and that was just it.
post-calamity, though, he fully embraces his loud sneezing. rumor has it his sneeze is louder than the roar of a lynel, and flora once joked that he could defeat ganon by the sheer force of it. the chain hates it. every single one of them is put on edge by loud noises, so every time wild sneezes all eight of them have a flash of panic as they all reach for their weapons before they realize, ah. everything is fine. wild just got some dust in his nose.
they all hate it, but they don’t try and tell him to be quiet. he’s an unstoppable force that will not be silenced again
wind:
he screams “ACHOO” with every sneeze. he’s competing with wild to see who can do it the loudest, but so far wild’s still winning. wind’s isn’t a scary as wild’s is, because while wild’s is sudden and ear-shattering, everybody within a ten mile radius knows when wind’s about to sneeze because of the fact he goes “ah-ah-ah—ACHOOO” every time it happens. he does it on purpose because he thinks it’s funny, and is currently running in first place on the Most Obnoxious Sneeze list. he takes pride in his position.
time:
time is third on the Most Obnoxious Sneeze list, after wild and wind. he’s got one of those loud dad sneezes, and every time it happens he groans as if he’s shattered all his bones and says something along the lines of, “that was a doozy.” if he sneezes multiple times in one day he’ll start counting them, and every time he goes, “unbelievable. fourth sneeze of the day!” there are multiple groans from the chain. everyone thinks that’s just How He Is, but in reality he’s just being a little shit and takes great amusement in the fact they all think he’s some old man.
when they get to time’s hyrule, malon plays along, acting as if it’s just time’s old age catching up to him. in private, however, the both of them are in hysterics at how seriously the entire chain believes it all. they’re both little shits. will the chain ever know?
four:
he’s one of those people who sneezes about fifty times in one breath. the number of tiny, quick sneezes depends, but they’re always in intervals of four. sometimes it’s four sneezes at once. sometimes it’s eight. sometimes it’s sixteen. the chain’s impressed and a little concerned, and at one point legend makes a comment about how it sounds like he’s multiple people sneezing at once. four just laughs it off (perhaps a little too hard?).
legend:
bunny sneeze. that’s all. he’s got the tiniest, and quite honestly the cutest sneeze out of all of the chain. for the longest time he tried to hide it, because he knew exactly how they’d all react, but alas, one day it was a little too dusty in one of hyrule’s caves, and it had to happen eventually.
obviously the entire chain had to comment about it (read: make fun), and it only stopped when legend’s face became as pink as his hair. wind made some comment about how he was grateful legend wasn’t an annoying sneezer like the trio currently battling for the title of Most Obnoxious Sneeze, which resulted in a large argument about who was truly worthy for the title, which changed the topic quickly.
and if there are still a couple of muffled laughs every time legend sneezes, he guesses it is kind of funny. but only kind of.
sky:
he legitimately just sounds like he’s coughing. wheezing, even. nobody knows whether or not to say “bless you,” because they don’t know if he’s sneezed or if he’s just got something in his throat. sky thinks it’s funny and will say “no ‘bless you’?” after he coughs sometimes, just to be a little shit and confuse them. they all hate it, because how are they supposed to be polite if sky calls every sneeze a cough and every cough a sneeze?! sky thrives off of their distress. he is the original link, after all—where do you think the others got it from?
hyrule:
they have never heard him sneeze once in his life. he’s so incredibly quiet with it that everyone thoroughly believes he just can’t sneeze. maybe it’s a fairy thing, who knows, they don’t want to be rude! in reality he just needs to be quiet to survive in his hyrule, so his sneezes are a lot less earth-shaking then some of his brothers’ sneezes (hint, hint). still, he doesn’t correct their assumptions. they can handle a little mystery solving, can’t they? plus, he’s a little curious to see how long it will take for them to find out the truth. and seeing them tiptoe around it is a little amusing, too. maybe he’ll even start giving them false clues—would they believe him if he said that fairies didn’t breathe through their noses? that fairies don’t sneeze because they use their wings to breathe?
yes. every link is a little shit, in case you couldn’t tell. hyrule is no exception.
twilight:
sneezes like a dog. sometimes it just sounds like he’s hacking. his head shakes like a dog’s when he sneezes, too, and he is 100% made fun of for it. “did the ghost of that wolf pelt possess you, rancher?” “been spending too much time around wolfie?” post-wolfie reveal it makes a lot more sense to the chain, but pre-wolfie reveal it’s the funniest thing ever. he’ll sneeze when something’s too strong-smelling or at random moments when sneezing really doesn’t make any sense, and he’s been given the title of “awkward sneezer” because it always happens at the worst time. it’s happened mid-battle before—but really, who can blame him? wild’s bokoblins were putting WAY too much seasoning on their food!
warriors:
his sneeze is normal. too normal. so remarkably normal that the rest of the chain are determined to find out how he does it. what does he mean, that’s just how his sneeze has always been? it isn’t too loud? too quiet? too canine or feline or any other type of -ine? is he really sure he’s a link, if his sneeze doesn’t sound like something even ganon would fear? he has a sneeze, it’s just so…basic.
warriors just shrugs and says that maybe he’s the only normal one among them. out of all nine, maybe he’s the only sane one. the chain knows this isn’t true.
what they don’t know, however, is that warriors is a master of deception, and that he goes to sleep at night with a smile on his face at the knowledge that the chain will never, ever know his secret…
his sneeze is louder than wild’s.

As Above, So Below
[Line art here]
Notes under cut
big shout out to @newtsnaturethings who does amazing nature studies and inadvertently helped me make stone look kinda like stone.
@manxden posted a nice summary of the battery theory. It is one of my favorite theories out there. The idea Ganondorf is the source of the power that saves Link, the hero meant to destroy him. Poetic cinema. I made a rambly post back in September that inspired this piece. You can read the full chaos here but in summary:
LONG AGO ganondorf is sealed and everyone thinks problem-solved but THEN they realize how much spirit/life energy he emits and the Royal Family orders the Sheikah to expand tech around it. What they don't anticipate is battery acid - malice. Monsters start appearing but they have the tech and just wipe them out without looking for the source. The more they use the spirit energy, the more malice is created in the sealing chamber. THIS is where get the events of 10,000 years ago. First Calamity Ganon appears...they go back to the old equation (goddess blood princess plus hero) WITH tech/Divine Beasts and beat back the Calamity. Again, this doesn't fix the problem. The Royal Family decides to banish "Sheikah" tech and like a nuclear plant meltdown, they just bury everything and hope that fixes it.
Because spirit energy is not being used during this time, Malice builds much slower. Takes 10,000 years for another Calamity to form but he's smarter this time because at his core he is a PERSON in stasis who remembers everything that was done to him.
BOTW happens.
The history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of Calamity Ganon
I love this line and hope it’s expanded upon in TotK.

Apple Merchant [BOTW!Link x Isekai!Reader] (Part 1)
In which Isekai!Reader becomes a merchant, and unintentionally Link's benefactor.
Even more self-indulgent trash. The usual.
PART: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
Masterlist
TW: Nothing worth mentioning.
Disclaimer: Don't own The Legend of Zelda franchise.
---
Being transported into a video game was not as dramatic as the media had led you to believe. For one, there was no bright, all encompassing light nor the feeling of a thousand worlds ripping themselves asunder. Instead, you had taken one step out of your door and crossed the threshold into an endless field of tall grass.
Panic should have taken hold by that point, but it didn't. You'd later learn it was just postponed by the shock of it all. At the time though, you'd simply taken stock of the situation, scanned the horizon for civilization and started in on the first plumes of smoke you found in the distance.
You'd been lucky. So incredibly lucky it had been a village that you'd landed near and not something more sinister. That you had decided against going near the waterfall or towards the forested area where a clear path was etched into the hillside.
You hadn't known that yet though. Instead, you'd taken the most direct route and hiked up the steep grassy slope heading towards the plumes.
Near the top you'd taken a short break beside an apple tree, admiring the perfect shape of the fruit hidden throughout it's low hanging branches. How large they were, and how brightly colored.
You'd taken one, struggling to pull it from it's stem. You were surprised by just how heavy it was when it finally did give way; more akin to holding a watermelon than an apple and as large as a grapefruit.
It was strange, but you figured it was just a variety of apple you were not familiar with, or perhaps you were heading towards a farm that was working on a new type of apple for the market.
You decided to save this one for later, in case the place you were heading didn't have resturants or take card payments. The surrounding land looked pretty rural, so you wouldn't be all that surprised if they didn't.
As soon as you'd thought it though, the apple disappeared. No light or sound or anything to indicate the unnatural occurrence, just popped out of existence.
It should have startled you, and it did, but you didn't panic. Not yet. That would come later. Right then, it was almost like you were dreaming.
In the top left corner of your vision a flicker of red came into existence. A simple line of words ended in an explanation point that pinged at your subconscious.
[New Item!]
And you'd thought, 'What a strange dream.'
---
Four years later, and you knew this was most certainly not a dream. The panic had passed, the initial pain of loss and separation had eased. The confusion of a new language and culture had settled into smooth integration.
The easy acceptance of the Hateno people helped a great deal with that.
Honestly, it helped that the population was as small as it was. While some cultures would shun outsiders upon contact, the scarcity of new blood had made your arrival quite the welcome event. Even if you were a human.
Perhaps even because you were a human. It was hard to tell sometimes. Your round ears were equal parts admired and awkwardly avoided in polite conversation.
You tried not to think about it too much.
The bottom line was that you had been transmigrated into Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Your head now contained the equivalent of the Sheikah slate and the differences in product quality here and your world was, to put it frankly, wacked. The metabolism and durability of the region's residents was even more so.
The apple you had picked up the first day had lasted you two days. Each bite was equivalent to eating two apples. Eating a whole apple was enough to make you sick. You'd watched a hyrulian child munch down three of them with no issues, and then ask for dinner.
Your conclusion; Magic. Hyrule was very similar to your own world, but the addition of magic had fundamentally altered the biological makeup of it's inhabitants.
It wasn't a difficult conclusion to come to. Hell, one of the farmers had even given you a brief rundown on the magic quality in the soil once, explaining the emergence of Hearty foodstuffs. It was an eye opener for sure, though a welcome one.
However, things got complicated in your case. The addition of gamer like attributes seemed to alter the world around you to an alarming degree. Nothing too noticeable thankfully, but still noteworthy.
Things you picked or put in your inventory had a way of coming back within a few days. This, you'd learned, was not the norm. A harvested field stayed harvested until it was replanted. A picked apple stayed gone until a new one grew from another bud.
Things did not just reappear after enough time away from them. Hyrule did not have that type of magic, though it would seem you did. Which, honestly, was fine by you. It helped you make a living at the beginning.
Food, you found, was a precious commodity. The game made it seem easily accessible, but in reality it was a hit or miss depending on the season. Late spring through early fall was bountiful, but the rest of the year was downright miserable.
People here lived on what could be grown locally. When things stopped growing, people started struggling.
Not to say most residents starved, but the cost of a bale of wheat went up drastically in the winter. Nevermind the cost of fresh fruit, meat or anything not pickled or preserved.
The game never showed this side to Hyrule. The part where these magical people with their high metabolisms suffered during the lean winter months. How they worked and saved all year just to break even through the cold season.
Winter might have been the time of hardship, but it was your golden goose. It was how you made a living, how you came out ahead.
Anything stored within your mindslate stayed perfectly preserved, untouched by time nor the effects of decomposition. And added to your unusual effect on the world, it allowed you to amass a literal shit ton of resources.
At first you'd make daily trips around the village gathering enough materials to ensure a place at the inn every night. Anything would do. Wheat, crickets, apples, the occasional fish, even fairies.
(Strange that one, how your mindslate just stored living beings like that. They were the one thing you didn't mess with. Just let them sit in there, as far from your mind as possible.)
You cut grass with your rusty sword, hacked down small trees with your equally cheap and rusted ax, roamed the nearby woods for mushrooms, beetles or lizards. Occasionally, you'd even find a more unusual item. Like a sword or shield just laying in the grass.
You'd try not to think of how it got there.
You gathered resources for a living, and the shop owners came to know you as the Apple Merchant. It was sweet actually, and it seemed to endear you to some of the residents.
Perhaps they appreciated that you were trying to make a life for yourself among them, not just begging for handouts. Or maybe it was pity for the foreign human who didn't know hyrulian common well. Hard to tell.
When winter came that first year, is when you realized the full breath of your situational advantage.
One year. That's all it took. One year to become one of the wealthiest people in the village.
And they didn't even realize it.
A bundle of carrots purchased cheaply during the height of harvest season sold for five times that amount in the winter. A bundle of wheat, nearly seven. And meat was something else entirely. Rare enough during the warm season, it became worth its weight in gold the moment winter set in and creatures ventured to warmer regions.
Winter was a literal Godsent.
And the next winter was even more profitable. Now armed with the foresight of experience, you planned your life around it. Bought overflow harvest in bulk, bought out traveling merchant's wares without a second glance.
You prepared, and you thrived. Your bare threat clothes became wool, your worn shoes became comfortable soft leather. You bought a horse, then three, a wagon. Hired guard detail.
Became a merchant. The Apple Merchant; written in clear hyrulian script across your wagon.
By the third year, you were in Lurelin, Kakariko, and every stable and small settlement in the southern reaches of Hyrule. Damn near made it to Gerudo too, before the logistics of such a trip set you back.
You made it though, on your forth year. Reaped the benefits of being a well stocked merchant in an inhospitable place like Gerudo desert. Never made it to Gerudo town though, but the outlier villages more than made up for that.
Life was good. It was profitable. You could even say you were happy.
Then it happened in the early spring of the fifth year. The Shiekah towers rose.
It was nothing that should have concerned you. Link had finally awoken from his 100 year slumber as he was meant to, and his story would continue on without you. Your paths would probably never cross. You were just one of the thousand's of merchants making a living all across Hyrule.
You were nobody in the grand scheme of things. You were someone completely removed from the big picture.
Until you weren't.
And it started with a missing apple.
---
Now I return to the shadows to rest.

something Breath of the Wild did really well that I feel like subsequent Zelda games set in the same universe have just chucked straight in the bin is how it handled Shiekah tech, the Guardians, and especially the Divine Beasts. someone online once said, in reference to the power we allow the (US) government to have, that you should never create something you wouldn’t want your enemies to be able to use on you (because as we’ve seen, you never know who’s going to win the next election), and Breath of the Wild drives that point home with brutal efficiency. The people of Hyrule spent all this time and resources unearthing the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, only to have then hijacked by the enemy, turning their world into a waking nightmare and resulting in the deaths of the Champions, the King, and countless innocents besides. Hell, technically Link even died, and had to spend a hundred years in a place called the Shrine of Resurrection in order to recover. Zelda, meanwhile, was forced to spend those hundred years trapped in Hyrule Castle with her worst nightmare, holding the line and saving Hyrule from a worse fate yet. they eventually get the Divine Beasts back, but not the Guardians. and it doesn’t change or reverse the damage done. the Champions are still dead. the 100 years still happened. Hateno Fort is still a ruin, as are many other places.
then you have Age of Calamity, which creates an alternate universe in which it’s fine, actually, the Divine Beasts are just fun little toys you get to drive around once in a while killing enemies by the thousands and they never really turn on you in a way that matters. which, okay, Age of Calamity was never meant to be that deep, and considering it canon in any way is probably a stretch. and even in Age of Calamity, you never get the Guardians back, so it’s not really that different from how Breath of the Wild ends, except that you get these fun little weapons of mass destruction to play around with every once in a while (in Breath of the Wild the Divine Beasts literally only do one thing).
but then there’s Tears of the Kingdom. which wipes away the Shiekah tech, and its history, completely. Tears of the Kingdom, which gives you access to Zonai tech in its place, except the Zonai tech never turns on you in the catastrophic way that the Shiekah tech did. sure, the Yiga clan uses it sometimes, but they’re always very defeatable. they never create anything like the nightmare devices you see people making on youtube. you can create drones, cages made of electric fencing, anything you can imagine, really, and then stand back and let those devices do the work for you. and this is fine and there’s never any downside.
and, just... idk. it makes me feel like Tears of the Kingdom had nothing to say, really, not like Breath of the Wild did. Tears of the Kingdom took all the worst parts of the storytelling in Breath of the Wild (the memories, the lack of forward momentum), exacerbated them, and removed every ounce of nuance and meaning its original possessed. there’s nothing to be learned here, nothing to be said -- not about weapons of mass destruction (a topic I would definitely expect Japan to have a lot of opinions about), not about the pressure we place on our children, not about grief or loss or learning to live in a shattered world and find meaning and joy in it. they’ve got a few shallow moments where Link gets to rely on his friends, which is nice I guess, but they didn’t really do much with that. story-wise, the whole emphasis is on Zelda and the Zonai, and there is just... really nothing going on there.
so, idk. I think that’s why Tears of the Kingdom just doesn’t work as well for me, story-wise. I really enjoyed the gameplay, and I will say that the ending was much more emotionally satisfying (which is very very important since the end of a video game is supposed to be your reward for all the effort you’ve put in to beat it, especially in a Zelda game), but overall, it was just... missing something. and I think it’s a little sad.

In one timeline, Zelda cries. She spends her late teenage years and young adulthood sobbing, emotionally a widow by the design of her own plans. She spends years heartbroken and mourning the Hero she loved and sent away in hopes of restoring the childhood stolen from him.
In another timeline, Zelda is confused. She thought the fairy boy who helped her save her kingdom was her friend, and that he would always be there to play with her. She spends her entire youth wondering why her Hero is so haunted, and why he can't look at her without seeming like he's about to cry.
In both timelines, the kingdom needs a Prince-Consort and an heir, not just a young Queen pining over a boy from the forest, so she agrees to an arranged marriage. She marries a man she does not love, and bears a child, and tries to be the best Queen that she possibly can.
In one timeline, her love and loss are not a secret, it becomes a common saying that the rains beginning to flood the land are a reflection of the tears their Queen sheds for her long lost love.
In another timeline, she pines silently for her Hero, simply watching in heartbreak as his inner demons drive him mad until he is merely a shade of his former self and disappears.
In both timelines, her heir grows, marries, and has a daughter of their own.
In one timeline, this princess - not the Sacred Princess but one of the sacred line nonetheless - grows up with stories of her grandmother's life as a Sheikah and the Hero she loved and lost. She grows up with stories of how when you fall in love, you should hold on tight, never let it go, and never waste a moment with them. As the flood waters rise, she swears she won't make the same mistake as her grandmother made. She won't let a second with her love be wasted, so she runs away from the palace, following the sailor she loves out to sea.
In another timeline, that same princess grows up with firm and unwavering expectations of what her royal duty is and how exactly she is expected to see that through. She grows up with a grandmother who married for duty despite her love being right there, knowing that she too is to marry an appropriate suitor when she comes of age. It never even crosses her mind that she could have fought to be with her love.
In both timelines, this princess bears the next Sacred Princess.
In one timeline, the next Zelda is born free as the waves beneath her. Her name is Zelda as her mother couldn't bear to break that far with tradition, but such isn't a name fitting for a pirate, so her middle name is all she ever knows. She grows up free and feral, sunkissed and smirking, allowed to be wild and go wherever the wind takes her.
In another timeline, the next Zelda is born as the sun begins to set over Hyrule. She grows up sheltered in a palace of rules and expectations. She learns to hide both smiles and tears, nevermind any improper impulses that might cross her mind. She grows up as a proper princess, internally screaming for anything more than the darkness around her.
In both timelines, Zelda finds her Hero. She finds Link, or rather he finds her, and they don't let go this time. In this lifetime they will get their happy ending, together, and they will fight anyone who tries to take it away from them.
(Aka: my brain realized that both TP and WW are next lifetime direct sequels to OoT. And now all I can think is that TP Zelda got ALL the anxiety in the timeline split, and that if Tetra ever met Midna they would get along like a house fire in that there would be no survivors)

Yes!!!! You got it Anti! I'm going full menece!!
Masterlist
Part 1 will include Wild, Four and Hyrule.
Content under the cut!
Wild
"Do you think anyone is going to find us here?" You whispered, holding onto the hand of your boyfriend.
He snorted and shook his head. "Not a chance."
He had the kind of confidence that, were you anyone else, would quickly gather that it was foreshadowing. However, since you weren't willing to read between the lines the universe was trying to send you, you happily held onto his hand a little tighter and continued following him where ever he led you.
"So where are we going anyway?" You swung your conjoined hands and rested your head on his shoulder.
"Hmmm.... I don't know!"
"Link!"
"I just wanted to spend time with you... alone. Is that so much to ask?" Wild laughs, poking your forehead gently.
You huff and puff but you can't find it in yourself to be mad. He was such a sweetheart that it was hard to bother with any sort of annoyances. "Do you have a plan?"
"I just wanted to love on you." He laughs, pulling you closer and kissing your cheek. His arms keep you in an iron grip. Even though you try to push yourself away to get in a more comfortable angle, he's adamant in keeping you right where you are.
"Hey!" You laugh back, try to move away. "That's not fair! I wasn't ready!"
"Well I was. Should have been paying more attention." He smirks, trailing his kisses from the innocent spots on your face to a more heated location.
It's starts off chaste. A peck on the lips, a caress of your cheek- gentle repositioning of your hair- then he shifts. You find your back against the wall of the rock beside you. Wild kisses your chin, your jaw, trialing heated kisses to you neck.
"Link-"
"Ahem!"
You jump out of your skin, blood freezing in your veins as your stomach drops to the floor.
Wild gently drops his head to your shoulder, not bother to look up. "So we've been caught."
"No kidding." Sky tries his best to keep his face neutral. A slight blush begins to seep through his defenses, much to everyone's chagrin. "...Um.... We were looking for you."
"What?" Wild looks up finally, disbelief on his face. "Impossible. We haven't even been gone for more than fifteen minutes."
Sky coughs a bit, shuffling on his feet. "Bad timing on your part then. You were asked for the second you left, I guess."
Wild deadpans before turning around, kissing you square on the lips once more. "We'll continue where we left off another time."
You feel breathless and dizzy. You nod. Are you embarrassed or charmed? Horrified or smitten? Sky certainly wants to erase the past ten seconds from his mind.
Wild takes your hand, lookin victorious. "Let's go."
Four
"Follow me. Quickly." Four took your hand and begin dragging you along without any forewarning.
You stumbled after him, trying your hardest to keep up with his faster (and shorter) strides. "Wait, wait, wait, where are we going?"
"Shh!" Four put a finger to his lip, pulling you aside and into a dark alley way. He looked around the corner, as if checking if you were being followed before he relaxed. "Alright. This way."
"Four-!" He started pulling you away again, but at a much slower pace, merely walking to where it was he had in mind. "Link. Can you tell me what this is about? Is there anything I should be made aware of?"
"Nope!" Four grinned, stepping aside and gesturing to a small shop on the corner. "Just wanted to treat my sweet to something."
Your heart flutters and you can't help but smile. "So you had to capture me like a runaway criminal?"
"It was that or have eight other busy bodies with nothing better to do breathing down our necks."
You grin and bend down to kiss his cheek. Four beams and leads you into the shop. You both order something small to eat and warm drink, quickly securing spot by the window where you both could sit in peace.
"How did you find this place anyway? Have you been here before?" You ask Four, putting you hands on the table and lean close to him.
Four snorts and shakes his head. "I passed it while we were gathering information yesterday. I figure it would be nice to get away for a little bit."
"I doubt it would be for long." You grin but reach over to take his hand. "But thank you, I already love it."
Four grins and holds your hand gently, pulling it close to leave a tender kiss on your knuckles. "Let's make the most of it then."
A worker comes around with both of your orders and places them in front of you. Not about to be blocked by food of all things, Four moves from his spot in front of you to sit beside you instead.
You both grin, thanking the lady before going right back to looking at each other. The woman doesn't say much.
Before you both know it, you're both giggling, whispering sweet nothing about each other. Your sharing stories, compliments, kisses, innocent touches. Before you know it your lips are on his and your hands are in his hair.
Someone taps on the glass window next you.
You both jump and look over.
The entire chain is there.
You explode in a blush and look away hiding your face. Four glares at them and makes a rude gesture. You think you hear some of them laughing from the other side.
You can never show your face again. This is it, you're done for.
Four kisses once more for good measure. "Can't have anything in Hyrule."
Hyrule
You had managed to sneak away with Hyrule for a little time alone. It wasn't for anything special.
You both were lying on your backs in the grass next to each other. Between you, your hands were laced together. You rolled over and smiled, looking at your boyfriends features in silence.
His eyes were closed and he looked peaceful. If it weren't for the fact that he smiles softly when you rolled over, you could have sworn he was sleeping.
"Hey." You called out softly.
Hyrule opened his eyes and rolled over to look at you as well. "Yes?"
"I love you." You whispered, unable to keep the smile off of your face. Your impulses are rewards when you see his ears twitch as he flushes softly.
He grins after a beat and reaches over with his free hand, carding it through your hair softly and tucking it away form your face. He brings your hands up and kisses your knuckles, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. "I love you too."
"I know." You whisper again and scoot closer.
Hyrule lets go of your hand and moves his arm to cushion your head as move closer. His arm wraps around your shoulders, tracing lazy nonsensical patterns on your back. His other stay by your face, running his fingertips over your cheek with light butterfly touches.
It's so soft. Your heart feels as if it's about to burst with affection.
You lean up, aiming to kiss him before he can move away. You get close. Your hand entangles itself into his hair as you angle him a little to the side to make it easier on yourself. Your breathes begin to mingle with his. Your lips are only a hairbreadth away from contact.
"Found them!"
You jolt away from each other, faces aflame.
Wind tilts his head, jogging to where you both were. "What are you doing?"
"NothINg!" Your voice cracks and you cough to clear it. "You startled us."
Hyrule ruffles his hair, sitting up with a disgruntled look on his face. "Did they send you to look for us?"
"You snuck off again." Wind pouts.
"Did not!" You fire back. "It hasn't even even thirty minutes!"
Wind rolls his eyes but turns around to leave. Sure enough, you can already hear the footsteps of the rest of the group making their way towards your location, no doubt wondering if there was anything they needed to do. Heal, lecture, defend- ect...
You turn around, kissing Hyrule's cheek before they can get closer. "Another time."
Hyrule smiles boyishly at you, ignoring the questioning looks from the upcoming boys. "I'll be waiting then."

I love the idea that Legend was purposefully forged by the goddesses in order to make sure that this time, the hero wouldn't fail.
They chose a child with no bitterness, with a golden heart and an inability to say no to those in need, so that he would not become like the First Hero, who was despairing even before his battle with Demise. They chose someone who lived knowing about the evil, made sure he would learn of the stories rather than being thrown, blind, into trouble like the Hero of Skies. Hylia made him one of her blood so that divine magic would flood his veins, strengthening him against evil, preventing his corruption like the Hero of the Four Sword. He was taught and trained by his sword, not by men or fairies or anyone else, to make sure he would be guided to their will, taught all he needed to know, to prevent his death like the Hero of Time.
He bears the triforce since birth, raised with the knowledge of it and taught of the heroes of the past. He is from a line of knights whose duty is to defend Hyrule, brought up on their morals, on their laws, with their sense of duty to the crown and kingdom. He knows the worth of the Triforce and that such sacred powers cannot be used for paltry things like personal gain. He was called when pure-hearted but still powerful, and he's been slowly forged into the Greatest of Hylian Heroes (as per Nayru) through his adventures and the lessons he's learned in them.
Time finds himself wondering why Legend's voice sounds like the call of the goddesses in answer to the unspoken cries from his soul. Legend's not HIS, but he can't shake the feeling that Legend exists because of him somehow. Because in another world, a prayer from a dying hero and a desperate princess was heard by the goddesses, and they began to forge The Hero of Legend, but he doesn't know that, all he knows is that Legend joining at his side with the other heroes makes him breathe a breath of relief for reasons he can't name, makes him feel assured that help is here, even though he didn't know he wanted it.
Now if only he knew how to handle those feelings.

What pieces of media are your biggest creature design inspirations?
ooh how fun! let's see...
Pokemon Crystal (Ken Sugimori)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(src: Bulbapedia)
I had a Pokemon Crystal strategy guide with all 251 Pokemon in it that I studied religiously when it came to making monsters of my own. I love Ken Sugimori's illustrations so much - the dappled paint makes it so soft, gives everything the feeling of being struck by light dancing down from foliage above. The subtle implied detailing with line strokes and shadow allows the imagination to run wild. They, truly, feel like creatures to have adventures with. And of course, Pokemon is a juggernaut of an RPG, facilitating those childhood fantasies, and then there's a TV show showing them playing and shouting their name and fighting... No wonder so many people got hooked on it!
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 (Akira Toriyama)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(src: Dragon's Den)
Since they're designed as enemies foremost, Dragon Quest's monsters can get a lot kookier & scarier than Pokemon can. And Toriyama gives his monster designs so much charm and personality! You feel like he always has fun coming up with them, and it makes every Dragon Quest game more delightful for having them be your foes (and sometimes friends). Also, all the English names are puns and portmanteaus and other fun word things!
After Armageddon Gaiden (artist unknown - dev is PandoraBox)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(src: Bogleech, who also wrote a wonderful article on these critters: https://bogleech.com/halloween/hall18-aagolem)
Uniquely grotesque beasts from a deeply obscure Japanese RPG named After Armageddon Gaiden, the second in a duology about player-controlled demons fighting alien invaders. Some of the designs get quite gory or disturbing, fair warning. But in a cool way!! The sheer strangeness of these designs are something to behold!... And they have the best names ever, like "Barabumblebo"...
YU-GI-OH early card art (Kazuki Takahashi)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(src: Yugioh fandom page)
Yu-Gi-Oh's early monster designs are something I think about a lot. I don't know what that says about me, but I do know they're unbelievably cool, a blend of genuinely scary Egyptian-flavored horror and wacky, tropey, cartoony fantasy. The fact that these ridiculous designs are frequently art for a card that's completely worthless in terms of winning duels, combined with their randomly specific descriptions about how unbelievably powerful they are, gives them a certain mystique. It's as if the creature you see depicted truly exists as a part of some greater fantasy world...
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Tumblr media
(src: me, many moons ago)
Seeing properly scary monsters inside a strange virtual world in Ocarina of Time was quite the experience for my young self. For example, I had nightmares about the Stalchildren who used to burst, endlessly, from the ground of the strangely empty Hyrule Field. But that also made it feel like such an adventure! The thrill added to the experience. And even many of the game's races are quite monsterlike; Gorons, Zora, Deku, and so forth. This had me imagine turning a "bad" creature into a friend, a concept I cherish to this day... hence Love-Love here.
Well that's that! Thanks for asking, this was fun to write : )

Should the dev team have committed to Zelda's draconification being permanent and have her stay a dragon at the end, and would that have made for a more honest and poignant ending than the one we got? Some fans think that the ending we got renders her sacrifice completely meaningless and devoid of impact.
The dev team absolutely should NOT have committed to Zelda’s draconification. It would have ruined the entire story and narrative for Zelda’s character and Hyrule itself.
Some people think it made the sacrifice meaningless and devoid of impact. . . But it didn’t. Her choice was her own and it was a statement of dedication to Link and Hyrule as a whole. It was also utterly tragic that she had to do this in order to heal the Master Sword. I am still in utter distress whenever I play the game and watch the memories, despite knowing the ending. Because it’s the tragedy she endured willingly that makes the sacrifice meaningful, not the permanence of it. The sacrifice would hold no value had it been a choice Zelda made knowing she would be reverted.
She didn’t. She thought it was permanent.
And I’m honestly tired of some of these fans just not wanting a happy ending for her character. She deserves peace and a happy life. That’s what she got, which is absolutely justified. And those who think of a story so plainly and only at the big picture miss the details and narratives that point directly towards the ending we actually got.
Let’s talk about if she didn’t turn back.
Firstly, we can start with simple things that personally can be reworked in the future but would create a hurdle for the devs in the future— Zelda would never die as a dragon, she is an immortal being. The Zelda series is quite literally founded upon a reincarnation cycle between Zelda, Link, and Ganon. And only one of them is linked through blood: Zelda. That would cause a bump in the whole reincarnation foundation.
Beyond that, Zelda’s character development would suffer with this choice becoming permanent.
Any fan upset by the ending doesn’t understand the implications of Zelda being granted a second chance. She dedicated her entire life before the calamity to training and praying, only to have her magic awaken AFTER the champions, her father, and nearly Link are killed. Her efforts for the next century keep her body suspended in time and keeps Ganon at bay through her light power. When she wakes up, she is granted a ‘second chance’. In reality, it is simply the life she fought for and rightfully deserved.
So after she made Hyrule her home again, unifying the scarcely populated land and invigorating its culture, she is once again forced to sacrifice everything. This time, she does so as a leader and as one who holds such strong power. Her journey as a Queen leads her to become the very leader she WANTS to be, not the one she was constantly reprimanded to be by her father and the old kingdom. And she learns this throughout her time in the past, with Rauru as her guide.
And that leads us to this point: the belief that to rule is to give up everything.
But where others are punished for this choice (despite Zelda’s warnings, Rauru’s ignorance of Ganondorf’s power leads to Sonia and his own death), Zelda is REWARDED for her choices.
Because she did not just claim that another will defeat Ganondorf and seal him away until present day like Rauru.
Zelda did much more. She raised the sky islands, made a promise with Mineru, solidified the aid of the sages, collected the Master Sword and chose to give LINK the best chance he could have against Ganondorf. Zelda did every single thing she could to ensure Ganondorf would be defeated. She even aids in the final battle, as her will is to end that evil and grant Hyrule the peace she herself will (presumably, to her own knowledge) never experience.
So when she is rewarded for her efforts, by being bathed in sacred light and her body reversed to its previous state. . . It is entirely in line with the narrative thus far. Additionally, Rauru and Sonia present themselves as a ‘second chance parents’ for Zelda. A supportive, patient father in Rauru. A guiding teacher and mother in Sonia.
Tears of the Kingdom mirrors Breath of the Wild in terms of Zelda’s development and story. To give an ending where Zelda remains a dragon. . . It would have been tragic and dishonest to the story that we got.
If you want to read something more in depth and not written by someone with one eye open, this post grants a well rounded answer to this question.

Botw Champions X Knight Reader; HC’s
Tumblr media
Anon Request, “Hey can I get the BOTW champions with a bad ass, sorta like link knight. Like they don't really have any affiliation with anyone they just somehow started helping Zelda after she said they should. Also Love your writing and thanks!”
~Characters Chosen For Request:
Link, Revali, Urbosa
~xXx~
Link:
Link doesn’t question where or how you were knighted, but he is curious to know your skill set
at the end of the day, as long as you’re not an enemy he’s pretty chill with you and actually appreciates the extra support in helping protect Hyrule
definitely becomes your personal trainer and in turn real enjoys learning moves from you he doesn’t know
likes having someone who can understand him, and when the two of you become closer he’ll often confide in you about things he often keeps to himself since becoming Zelda’s appointed Knight and Hyrules Champion
understands how skilled you are in combat but can’t help still feeling worried or fearful of you being put in danger
has to do a self reboot when he sees you trying on his armor for shits and giggles, you not realizing that you basically made his brain go haywire
Revali:
first impression is somewhere along the lines of “Oh great. Another one.”
absolutely picks on you like he does with Link; like how can you be a Knight if you’re not part of any army?
only difference is that his rivalry with you vs with Link starts to turn into something more of the fun sort, like a friendly competition of who’s the better warrior
the more time passes, the more he finds himself impressed by not just your skills but your personality as well
he quite enjoys having someone who can quip back at him and finds the fire in your eyes somewhat adorable, not that he’d ever admit aloud
100% teaches you how to use a bow instead of just a sword; tells you he only does this because it would make your fights more even, totally not because he actually likes spending time with you or anything, don’t be ridiculous!
Urbosa:
finds it very charming your dedication to protect others despite not being apart of any corpse
she finds your skills admirable and after some time of observing, ask if you’d like to join her army
it’s a huge honor, no matter your gender, and she promises to make you an even more skilled knight under her wing than before
don’t expect her to go easy on you though just because she likes you, if anything she might even train you harder than others
it’s not to be an ass, it’s because she can see the potential that you possess as well as wanting to make sure you’re always safe incase she’s not there to help fight alongside you
Urbosa would absolutely craft you personal armor with different gems to aid you in your adventures
she thinks it’s very adorable when you offer to show her some of your own moves, ya know being an extremely skilled girl boss and all, but would never turn down spending such time with you at the end of the day
~xXx~

I just spent way too long writing this, but here's a HC on what I believe would happen if BOTW Link found his OWN diary from 100 years ago.
At first, the diary's pages seem rather bland. Random stories about being in training, how Link misses his parents, how he's overwhelmed with the pressures of being a knight, etc. But, as Link reads through his old self, he finds himself caught on words. Words that seem... off putting. Words that make him feel a bit of fear of what he had forgotten about himself. Sentences that made him second guess if he should have been the Hero of Hyrule.
It's not apparent, but there's little sentences here and there that show a side of Link that didn't awaken after the 100 year slumber. Anger, envy, spite. Emotions Link DID encounter once he'd awoken, but... never directed towards the Princess. Never towards his role as knight. Never towards his friends who didn't remain any more.
Link felt a pit in his stomach form as he got further into his diary. Everyone he knows now recounts Link as a hero full of heart and determination. One who stands up for what was right, one who never questioned what he was told if it was to protect another. But these thoughts Link wrote... it made him feel guilty. He wrote about how he hated being a knight. Being HER knight. Being a chosen one who couldn't run away from what was forced upon him. He even... wished he would fail, so his duties would come to an end.
It felt heartbreaking to read these words he wrote 100 years ago. He wanted to help the Link who wrote this. Almost treating this Link as if it was someone he could comfort, but this wasn't another person he could reassure. It was him.
As Link got near the end of his diary, he didn't know what to think. He... hated himself. Who he was. It wasn't who Link was now. He never felt this anger towards his role in the Calamity since he woke. Link did feel anger, but it was towards his writing. How he could have possibly had such spite towards those he loved. Towards those he put his life on the line to protect. It angered him. Made him seethe as he got to the last written words.
"There's no winning against the Calamity. Only winning against those who use me for what I provide. I must leave, for I am fighting the wrong fight. I only have one place to turn to, one place that will truly accept me. No matter if I join them now, or many of years into the future, I must join the Yiga Clan."
Link stared at the last sentence. He began to feel anger, a different one than before. As Link recounted how he came across his diary, he grew frustrated. It was found neatly placed in the damaged knights' wing of Hyrule Castle. The diary itself had no dust, yet the room was caked in it. A room... that had a familiar scent of fruit lingering...
The diary was a pathetic ploy to have Link join the Yiga Clan. To turn him against his loved ones.
And it took him until the very last page to realize it.
He also now understood why previous pages would randomly recount his love for bananas. Why there was even a recipe to make banana bread on the 14th page.
He felt like an idiot for not realizing this sooner, but as he began to calm down from the overflow of emotions he got while reading, he realized the perfect way to release the frustration. It was time to visit the Yiga Clan.
