IT/TUA Crossover

Okay I've been bouncing this idea around in my head for a while and I want to share my thoughts. I also kinda want to write this into a oneshot but we will see. Also this is only a crossover in the sense that the Losers are in the place of the TUA fam. So like what would happen if the Losers were the ones born with the marigold and adopted by Reginal Hargreeves. I mean....both TUA and IT have seven main characters so how could I not try to merge the two?

Anyways moving on to who get's what marigold (powers) and I have some maybe controversial opinions

I'm not basing this on the TUA character's personalities, just their powers btw

AAAA also for those not familiar with TUA, the numbers don't really matter, like just because someone is "Number 1" doesn't necessarily make them the leader

Number 1 with the power of strength should be Mike and my reasoning for this is because Mike has a strong heart and he would love his adopted siblings (the Losers) and would use his strength to protect them- also Mike staying at the academy the longest, hoping his family would come back

Number 2 who's power is uhhhh how do you word that? Super Aim? Basically he never misses AND he can stop something in motion in it's tracks, like bullets fired from a gun- Anywho I think this should be Ben. I feel bad bc this is my least favorite power (but I LOVE Deigo) but I like the idea of Ben being a knife guy, it's outta pocket and no one would expect it

Number 3- Mind control- Miss little "I heard a rumor" is definitely Bev. I don't have to say much about this, but Bev using her rumor power to get ahead and be one of the most successful people in Hollywood- not that she needs much help. But also like how Luther and Allison have that weird relationship, her and Ben would have that too

Number 4, the power to commune with the dead and *Spoilers for TUA season 3* the power to come back to life after dying. This is where I get a little controversial but hear me out...I feel like this should be Bill. Unlike his TUA counterpart Klaus, Bill would channel his fear of ghosts into writing and he becomes a bestselling authors selling stories that the ghosts tell him. In an interview he gets asked how he comes up with these ideas and he just shrugs "They just come to me" and meanwhile the ghost who told him the story is yelling at him. I do think that LIKE Klaus he would distance himself from his family

Number 5 who can teleport and time travel is obviously Stan. Stan is literally an 85 year old man in a 13 year olds body. Stan is already a little unhinged but getting lost in time, seeing THREE apocalypses and constantly trying to save his hairbrained family. Five in TUA IS Stan. An old soul who loves his family but also wants to murder them because they somehow keep causing the world to end. Also Stan would be so mad at himself that he hasn't mastered time travel since teleporting came so naturally to him

Number 6, the ability to summon tentacles out of his chest is Richie. Which also means Richie is dead. RIP. He's dead for everyone else but Bill can NOT get rid of him. Remember Bill talks to the dead? Richie would be following him around and aggravating Bill every chance he gets. Bill acts annoyed but he is happy he gets to talk to his technically dead brother while the rest of his adopted siblings had to mourn him. Just imagine all of the BICHIE friendship moments I could write if I wrote this ship. Richie would make so many dead jokes

Number 7, the power to turn sound waves into energy is Eddie. Poor Eddie who was constantly told he didn't have any powers bc Reggie was terrified of them. Jokes on Reggie. Eddie ended the world. Twice. And he's the strongest one of the bunch. I feel like that would be a strong character moment for him

I want write parts of this AU, I love it. Who knows if I'll ever find the time. Also yes ik there's spelling/grammar errors. I am tired

i know everyone is talking about five's and klaus's relationship this season but can we talk about diego and klaus for a moment as well?

since season one they have been very close and even thought diego hates to say anything, he really cares about klaus and looks after him. and when stan killed klaus diego really was hurt. but, as a "father", he had to keep it together. but he was broken. his reaction when klaus comes back is the testament of his love. hell, even him being mad about stan trying to decompose klaus's body shows his love, however weird it may sound. diego this season really grew on me (even tho he's always been my second fave) because however tough he acts, he's actually really emotional, perhaps the most out of all the siblings. and that's something i love to see.

this season you can see it with grace (again), you can see it with klaus (again), and especially with lila.and let's not forget he also fought for viktor in season 1 when luther locked him up. he needs a moment to think about things with lila because having a kid (whether stanley or the one lila wants to give birth to) is a pretty big deal and they both had rly fucked up childhoods so would they be able to raise a kid correctly? in the end, we see how much he truly loves lila, and diego's love language is protecting and looking out for people. the way he always looked out for klaus, the way looks out for lila (even though she gets annoyed by it). he wants to protect his family and the people he loves the most.

and you know, that makes me a little sad because ever since he was a kid, he always had it in his head that he needed to be tough, he needed to fight, to protect. he wasn't allowed to be very emotional, and his stutter? my god that HURT so much. but he wasn't allowed even that, he had to push through it. but i am so incredibly happy that he has lila now and that he can care and love as much as he wants. and that he's loved and respected in return. he will continue to fight for his loved ones but he also has those who will fight for him.

this was supposed to be a post about something different, but i just unlocked a whole new level of love for diego. i guess i just love who he is at the very core (even though he's a dumbass)

My review of TUC season 3 in 7 parts

TLDR:

- definitely the worse of the 3

- only bad thing about viktors transition was the god awful hair and makeup on V***. (I’ve seen better wigs in a high school production of hairspray)

- the special effects were oddly hit and miss- see Marcus throwing the towel vs five sitting at the edge of the world.

- far too much exposition not enough action

- if your trying to figure out why you don’t like this season re-watch episode 9. Basically pointless except for the last few minutes. Didn’t need a whole episode of talking. (When they take an hour to think before they vote I nearly screamed - so boring).

- footloose was a highlight for me I only wish they’d kept this energy for the remainder of the season

- the acting was great (with the exception of Toms accent- he needs an accent coach next season please)

- some parts felt like bad fan fiction writing

- Felt like a filler season

-still excited for season 4

#PART 1 - Luther (& Sloane)

Luthers storyline this season was definitely designed to undo a lot of the ick he’d given fans before and tbh it worked. My only issue was how fast this love story happened making it feel not very grounded in reality.

I can’t decide if it got too much or not enough screen time but these two goofy dumb lovey characters had possibly one of my top arcs of the season. PS: I love Genesis - she did great work.

PART 2 - Diego (& Lilah)

As much as I love these two characters and the actors who play them. This was one of the worst written arcs of the season. Despite multiple conflicts none of these ever get far enough off the ground to be meaningful or lead to any sensible character development. The introduction of Stan was exciting but the writers immediately back-tracked and shoehorned in a surprise pregnancy. The writers again seemed to have forgotten that Lilah and Diego have only known each other for a few days to months max.

I would’ve liked to see the Stan storyline used to develop these characters more. Diego confronting his vigilante behaviour and recognising the need to put his child first, as wel as reconciling with his own daddy issues would have been welcome. While Lilah would confront her mommy issues and general childishness. Instead they dropped this story so quickly and it ended up meaning nothing.

(I think it would’ve been great had Stan been Diego and Lilahs actual child that Lilah kidnapped from the future in order to test Diego. Seeing future Lilah fight current Lilah would’ve been great and very on brand.) I felt like I was watching the filler chapter in a bad fanfiction- where the writer doesn’t want to have real conflict yet so they manufacture pretend fights with no real stakes that are over before they have any meaningful impact. Specifically Diego locking Lilah in the closet - im sure I’ve read that shitty fanfic before.

PART 3 - Alison (& trauma)

Possibly the most polarising plot line of the season I take no issue with Alison responding to her trauma. Do I think this is a teensy bit far for her character? yes- but I don’t overall hate this development.

I only wish we could’ve SEEN Alisons rage rather than being told about it. What is the point of showing some bloodied up knuckles or Alison saying she killed Harlan? (When Alison said this I actually thought it was a lie to hurt Victor because we didn’t see it on screen.) I would’ve loved to watch Emmy use her full talents to show us Alison grappling with her anger. Plus the incredible drama that could’ve been “I heard a rumor you dropped dead”. (Or even a redeeming mercy kill over sparrow torture?).

Much the same with the deal she makes with Reggie, it would’ve helped to see Reggie manipulate Alisons anger as well as her drive to protect her siblings. I don’t see why this needed to be a mystery when it was obvious to the audience pretty much straight away. Ugh.

PART 4 - Klaus (& his mom I guess?)

I didn’t hate Klaus and Reggies scenes. I liked seeing Klaus grasp his powers finally- but that’s it. The complete lack of any reference to the man Klaus was obsessed with the whole last season, plus the lack of cult references made this the most disappointing arc of the season. Klaus really had few moments to shine. With the exception of episode 10. And his mom was such an obvious step to get to the realisation there mothers are dead I won’t even mention it here.

Also how did he get into oblivion without a body? The writers thought we’d just accept that giant plot hole I guess.

PART 5 Five (& his existential crisis)

In the first two seasons Fives determination has been the primary momentum boost for the story. Essentially he drives the story forward while his siblings bumble around him. So with Fives retirement comes the apparent retirement of any good writing.

Fives lack of motivation does genuinely make the story duller. Everything after his visit to see his future self is pretty much a nothingburger while we wait for season four so he can have a mission again.

On a positive note I much preferred the interactions between five and Lilah than Diego and Lilah. Much truer to the previous seasons. The tattoo and the Pogo thing were mildly interesting but ultimately pointless.

As mentioned above I hated the drunken revelation storyline. It was obvious it was Alison straight away and the fact that Five who’s supposed to be a genius couldn’t do simple deductive reasoning really ground my gears.

PART 6 - Sparrow Ben (& the ever decreasing sparrows)

I did enjoy the new Ben. Justin Min did a fantastic job of being a whole new character and giving him depth. I liked evil Ben. His story made sense I only wish -much like with this whole season- that they’d shown us rather than told us his motivation. See Ben mumbling “because I have nothing else” in episode 8.

I don’t think it would’ve killed the writers to show us how lonely Ben is among the Sparrows. Show us how Reg’s bad parenting made him emotionally cold. I wish they would’ve showed us the Sparrows coldness in comparison to the umbrellas misguided affection for each other. Show us Ben longing for a brotherly love like Diego and Luther or a sisterly advice giver like Alison. That way I care a little more when he wants to be included in episode 8. PS would’ve loved more Klaus Ben interaction.

Also I hope I’m not the only person who wanted to see the Sparrows in action more.

PART 7 - Viktor (& the worst wig I’ve ever seen)

Honestly I liked Viktors transition. I thought it was handled well and didn’t affect the plot all that much. I was actually relieved when he was no longer wearing the V**** wig and makeup (whoever is responsible for the first episode hair and makeup for Elliot should be fired).

The Harlan plot was fine if heavy on exposition. I get that they needed to find a way for all the mothers to die but this whole bit was meh for me and far too forced.

I remember how excited I was watching the first episode and the foreshadowing of Harlan on the bus only for the story to be somewhat underwhelming all up. That was a metaphor for the whole season. So much foreshadowing and great work from season 2 ignored or poorly used.

I can only assume the writers have a great idea for season 4 and wish we could’ve condensed all of season 3 into two or three longer episodes and gotten to the point instead of 10 somewhat stagnant, constantly disappointing episodes.

There is an old piece of writers advice that says to show and not tell the audience. I only hope the umbrella academy writers hear this before they embark on season 4.

Klaus Hargreeves Being a Dad HCs:

A/n: This was an anon request and it took me a little while because of the Halloween stuff, work, and some mental health struggle, but I really hope you like it <3 next week hopefully I'll go back to the normal schedule

"So, in essence, it could be yours," the short blonde said.

"But you're not sure," Klaus murmured, looking at the toddler in her arms.

"I'm about 93% sure... I'll only be gone for a couple of days, can you please watch her?"

"You look at me and you think I'm qualified to care for a kid? Are you sure?"

"Well! Your sister can help you, she has a kid, doesn't she?"

"I don't think Allison would wanna help me with a kid who might or might not be mine... You know what? Fine!"

At first, Klaus would be conflicted, he'd be very annoyed by crying or whining, but at the same time feel bad for the little kid, knowing how hard it was to grow up without love.

Klaus would actually treat the toddler like a person, I don't think he would baby his kid. He'd definitely teach a lot of his street-smart techniques.

Diego would hate the kid at first, very much like he did Stan, but in no time he'd be doing knife tricks to entertain his niece or nephew.

Luther and Viktor would probably be very doting uncles, they spoil the kid rotten. Luther would be the king o piggyback rides and playing astronaut. Viktor would play the violin and even teach his niece or nephew.

Ben (the Umbrella one) would initially be very exasperated, telling Klaus how stupid he was for letting that happen. Eventually, he'd just accept there's no changing the situation and embrace it, helping his brother out whenever he could.

Allison would probably help out using her mom knowledge, but she wouldn't be too pleased with having to deal with the fruit of Klaus' carelessness.

Five does not look at the kid, does not talk to the kid. He barely tolerates it lol "none of you should ever breed".

The kid definitely comes in missions lol kinda like the one chapter from the comic when Klaus had a baby and nobody even questioned it.

Despite being like that, Klaus is a way better father than his dad was. He's not perfect, but he really tries.

Would protect the kid with his life, literally. He'd try to be even funnier to make them laugh when something dangerous is happening. If he gets hurt, he'll just laugh it off, always keeping the kid in a baby carrier.

Can we also talk about the fact that half the sparrows died really early in the season and their siblings didn't seemed to care, I mean they lived in the same house for like 30 years even if they considered themselves more as a team than a family that was odd, also Luther ready to betray his family for a woman he met two days ago (as he said to her), and everyone acting as if Diego acted like a great father when he basically constantly pushed away the kid who was supposed to be his son, even saying that he has most important things to deal with than him, like ok (tbh it seemed quite ooc for Diego to act like that) and also Diego literally forbidding Lila to fight because she's pregnant and restraining her basically not respecting her choice, like I get it, he wants to protect her and the baby and she should be careful but the way he acted was a bit too much, and it gave me bad vibes. Again, I won't talk about Allison

And honestly the worst is the weird vibes and inc*sty stuff, like stop with this already pls, that made me so uncomfortable, I honestly think that the writers are so wrong for this, why are they writing all of these romantic relationships between these people, and also why did they make Five fight with a n*ked lila, like that basically his "sister-in-law" in the show, like I know that n*ked doesn't equal anything s*x*** but that was still weird. And more importantly Aidan is a teenager and Ritu a grown woman !!!

I'm so sorry for ranting in your asks honestly, there still a lot of things I liked about the new season but I needed to vent about it a little bit, I'm sorry if that gave you negative energy....

Diego's arc is incredibly frustrating for me. Firstly because it didn't mean anything, it didn’t get us anywhere!! Arggghh and secondly because ironically Diego had been a better father figure or protector in previous seasons (S1 with klaus, ej). With Stan he did a pretty lame job. All the time I was thinking: poor baby Stan with such bad parents. Haha.

I have no strong opinion on the fact that Diego forbade Lila to fight while she was pregnant. I am not for or against. And to be honest, I as an overprotective and aggressively prepotent person, who commonly thinks that everyone is making stupid decisions regarding their existence, would not have allowed a woman I love to put herself at risk during a pregnancy either. But obviously it is not my place to decide for anyone!! Diego is a flawed but sensitive man, so I do understand his position but I don't necessarily approve.

Honestly, I can't care less about the couples and all the decisions that the writers make regarding the subject, I try not to give them a lot of thought, because as I mentioned before, I think the TUA writers do not do a great job writing the romance. I'd say they do a pretty mediocre job. The only times I ever bought the credibility of a romance is when the couple is already established (ray/Allison, klaus/dave S2, Eudora/diego)

AND just as I don't care about couples, I don't care about the incestuous relationships either. I have no problem with any of the ships bc they all bore me to death haha, honestly, and I think that everyone has the right to imagine fictional characters in the situations they please. It's not like someone is getting hurt.

It does make me very uncomfortable, however, the weird vibes between five and the handler, and in this season, between five and lila. I think both relationships are mirrored. I can't believe people didn't notice how off their scenes were (as they were with the handler), I don't know if they have a hard time reading the subtone or have no clue of how ​​film language works. I seriously have the urge to isolate a couple of frames and sequences and showing them out of context so they can witness the obvious suggestive tone deliberately set by whoever wrote the script and directed the scene. But, come on!, naked Lila fighting??? Jesus

It could be the hypocrisy in the fandom. Some condemn, block, cancel any fan who refers to Five as attractive or sexy, but for some reason they have no problem with Lila referring to him that way ???? It's frustrating. Similarly with the incestuous couples. I KINDA understand the outrage over Luther/Allison, sure, they were raised as siblings, but the fact that they find Luther/Sloane so disgusting and for some reason have no problem with Lila/Diego is incredibly disconcerting to me. Beyond the fact that Lila has a different last name, it seems to me that both relationships took place in quite similar circumstances. They weren't raised together, neither of them. Andd at the end of the day ALL children with powers are siblings (whether they have the same last name or not), because they were born on the same day and conceived from the same source. Source that is Reginald himself. I think the fandom makes very impartial judgments, based on very strange, contradictory and not very objective or even fair criteria. I think we should leave each other alone, to enjoy the series as we each please.

call me dramatic but one of my favorite parts of tua is in the first episode at Reginald’s funeral when Luther and Diego start fighting and Klaus goes to protect Five and Five being totally over with Klaus being a concerned sibling and just being like “bitch im an assassin”

Another thing we all tend to laugh off as a moment of comedic gold, is when Five’s temporal anomaly appears, and Klaus screams “OUT OF THE WAY,” rushes at it without a thought as to his own safety, tries to “put it out” with a fire extinguisher, then hurtles the whole extinguisher at the anomaly.  

Allison begs to understand his plan, and he wails “Well I dunno, do you have any other ideas?!” and as funny as that genuinely is, Klaus also flung his scrawny body at an unknown danger with any tools at hand, for the sake, once again, of protecting his siblings. 

This is not a new impulse, and it’s easy for us to forget in the storm of Season Two and the way he conceals Ben from the others (I’ve talked about why that is, elsewhere, too, if anyone’s interested <3 ) but Klaus has always tried to protect and/or comfort his siblings.  

There’s the Klaus and Luther scene, just after Luther learns Reginald sent him to the moon for no reason, which leads ultimately to Klaus actually dying to try to pull Luther out of his depression.

There’s, as I’ve discussed, the way Klaus tries to convince everyone that Vanya isn’t necessarily a danger if they just ask her how she feels about her newfound White Violin powers, and don’t lock her up in the same cell where she was stuck as a child: 

There’s immediately embracing and kissing Vanya when he sees her again:

There’s Allison facing race riots in Season Two, and Klaus immediately pulling her to safety, and leading her away from the police: later to help her bury the body of one of the Swedes, without question: in fact, maintaining calm and composure for Allison and Ray, who are both understandably shaken.  

There’s telling Diego he “looks like Antonio Banderas” to help buoy him up emotionally to go into a ground zero of Vanya’s powers.

 There’s frankly Klaus letting Ben piggyback off his whole life, because Ben’s “scared to go to the light” and wants some connection back to their family, and even letting Ben possess him to kiss a girl, which proves to be tremendously unpleasant physically and mentally (this when Klaus already suffers from issues of bodily autonomy because of his powers AND his war PTSD). And forgiving Ben immediately thereafter when Ben doesn’t respect his “stop now.”  

And how about when they’re children? Same deal. For instance, in a flashback in the pilot, hugging Allison while both cry after getting their  Umbrella tattoos.  

Basically this is just a big old Klaus stan post, for his instinctual, innate sweetness and supportiveness.

Let’s Talk About Klaus

Hi, friends. The Umbrella Academy’s second season came out recently. I finished it about twelve hours after. And I have feelings. We need to talk about Klaus. 

Now, here is my disclaimer. From the very first moment I saw him, Klaus was my favorite, but please read to the end before yelling about how Klaus-stans refuse to see his negative qualities. Thank you <3 (Also, this will involve spoilers for Season 2 and probably be an essay, so be prepared.)

Okay, first of all. Let’s look at Season 1 Klaus. 

He’s an asshole. Just like all of his siblings. They were raised by a narcissistic egomaniac and given hero complexes from pretty much the second they were born. Obviously they all lack empathy and healthy coping mechanisms. We can all agree on that. 

However, Klaus is also kind. So unbelievably kind. He makes crass jokes and looks out for himself first, but he is also so caring. 

When we first see him, he is encouraging people in rehab. He has a rapport with the EMT who brings him back to life. He hugs Allison as soon as he sees her at the mansion and seems genuinely concerned about her and her life. When the giant portal opens, he grabs a fire extinguisher and runs to the front to try and protect his siblings. Siblings who essentially ignored and belittled him for years. 

Fast forward and we see him helping Diego and Five and Luther. We see him caring, sincerely caring about his siblings. He breaks a snowglobe over his head to help Five get the answers he needs. He follows Luther to a rave and dies trying to save his life, even though he’s riddled with PTSD and freshly sober. We see him try so fucking hard to not give out any information about Five when he’s being literally tortured by assassins. He saves Diego from Hazel and Cha-Cha at the hotel, even though he could have stayed safe in the car. He risked his life to save a brother who didn’t even notice he had been kidnapped. 

We watch him die. We watch him get locked in a museum by his father figure and tortured by his abilities. We watch him be traumatized over and over again by ghosts that look just as gruesome as the day they died. We watch him be hurt and kidnapped. We watch him get thrust into a literal war, where he lost his soulmate after staying and fighting for ten months because he was just that in love with Dave. 

Out of every character, Klaus clearly has the most trauma. This isn't even including the fact that he was homeless for years and alluded to non-consensual sexual situations. Ergo, trading sex for a place to sleep and things like that. I am personally of the belief that Reggie was the reason Klaus broke his jaw, which Diego talks about in S1, but that’s my own opinion. 

Looking at all of that, Klaus has PTSD out the whazoo. Like, he is filled to the brim with trauma and no one cares enough to ask or help him. Five sees him after Dave dies and only cares about the briefcase. Diego hears that he lost someone and has the absolute audacity to call Klaus “lucky” because at least he can see them whenever he wants. Not one of his siblings understands Klaus’s powers and that’s terrifying because he had to deal with screaming, tormented ghosts completely by himself. Imagine that. Powers that you can’t control eating you alive and the only thing that helps dim the noise is drugs. 

And your family doesn’t care enough to ask. They just write you off as a useless junkie. 

Now, like I mentioned earlier, Klaus is not an innocent quote unquote soft boi. He is inherently selfish. But, he had to be. He had to be selfish in order to survive. He was on the streets. Alone. If he wasn’t selfish, he would have been dead ten times over. 

He stole things. He lied. He hurt people. He was an asshole. Just like they all were. 

But he was never cruel. 

His relationship with Ben in the first season was pretty awesome. We get to see the snark and the familiarity and the bond between them. And it makes sense, to some extent, why Ben is constantly trying to get Klaus to be better. If Klaus hasn’t seen his siblings for years, neither has Ben. I genuinely think Ben wanted to believe that they had changed. He wanted his siblings to be good, decent people. 

That’s why he told Klaus to go after Luther. Why he told him that his family would notice he was missing when he get kidnapped by Cha-Cha and Hazel. 

But it does not excuse the fact that Ben never apologized. He was wrong and he never said sorry for it. He inadvertently got Klaus killed and he never admitted that he made a mistake. 

He was there for so much of Klaus’s trauma and he just brushed it off. We never see Ben try to be there for Klaus or try to help him come to terms with everything. Ben can see the other ghosts. He knows that they’re terrifying and that Klaus’s powers are completely haywire. Why doesn’t he acknowledge that? 

Let’s move on to Season 2. 

For some reason, all of Klaus’s character development has been tossed out the window. He is a wildcard with no plot line to follow. He says random things and seems to act as comedic relief for the most part, except it rarely works.

For starters, his powers are completely gone, for the most part. We see him in a brief opening scene absolutely kicking ass with his ghost army. But, after that, we don’t see any ghost except Ben. We don’t see him learning to control his powers or talking to ghosts. We don’t even hear about his powers. It’s like they’ve been erased. 

That kind of trauma doesn’t go away. Especially when we find out he has been sober for three years. 

I’ve seen some people argue that he traded addictions. Swapped the drugs for the cult and the adoration that came with it. I don’t agree to that for a few reasons. 

First, he is very clearly uncomfortable with the cult touching him. And we see in the flashback that it happened completely by accident. Klaus was, again, trying to survive. Was it selfish? Yeah. Did he use that old woman to shamelessly find a place in a world he’s not supposed to exist in? Yeah! But, like I stated earlier, Klaus knows how to survive. He knows what to do to get by. All he is doing is trying to survive. Ben can scream all he wants about fairness, but he wasn’t offering up any options to get Klaus a place to sleep and a way to survive in the past. 

Second, we don’t know how the cult came about exactly. We don’t know what started it. We don’t know how it spiraled from whatever it started as into a cult. And Klaus hates it. He spends the entire season trying to get away from everyone. He used it as a means to survive and then wanted space. His entire plan was to get to 1963 and save Dave--probably from the start of 1960, to be honest. But to get to Dave, he had to survive. He had to get to a place where saving Dave was possible. He can’t save him if he’s dead or homeless. 

Third, Klaus very openly is touch-starved and desperate for attention. He spent his childhood being overlooked and his adulthood being treated like a disease. He just wants someone to take him seriously and care about him. The cult does. They love him for who he is, for his weird humor and mannerisms. They believe him when he talks. He’s never had that before, not since Dave. 

He finally has a group of people that genuinely care about what he has to say. Even if it’s all bullshit! They still listen to him. So, of course he sticks around. Of course he lets it grow. He thinks everyone he loves is dead! He’s holding onto the only thing he can. It just happens to be a cult. 

Next point: Ben. 

Ooh boy, this is gonna be a long one.

Ben is also not a soft boi. One tender scene with Vanya does not undo an entire season of cruelty and callousness. 

Before we get into that, let’s talk about the point everyone brings up: Klaus didn’t tell anyone Ben was there! 

Why should he? They never believed him the first thousand times he tried to tell them. What makes it any different fifty years in the past? 

But aside from that, I have two theories. 

One, I’m curious as to if he was subconsciously trying to punish Ben. Ben essentially got him killed at the rave with Luther. He also never apologized, as I mentioned earlier. He blows Klaus off, just like the rest of his siblings, even though, out of anyone, Ben should know better. From the very beginning of S2, Ben is saying some pretty nasty stuff to Klaus. Low blows that shouldn’t be brought up. If that’s been happening for 3+ years, it’s possible that Klaus internally is punishing Ben for being just like the others. 

Second, he’s scared of losing Ben. It’s been 17 years of only having Ben by his side. Constantly. And we know Klaus has watched the love of his life bleed out right in front of him. That’s PTSD. And PTSD doesn’t exactly involve healthy coping methods. So, it’s entirely possible that Klaus doesn’t saying anything about Ben being there because he is scared to lose him to his siblings. If Ben is corporeal, if they know Ben is there, what’s stopping Ben from leaving to go spend all his time with someone else? Someone that isn’t Klaus? Klaus could be trying to protect himself from losing another person. 

Does that make it okay for Klaus to hide the fact that Ben is there? No. But does it kind of make sense? Yeah. Ben deserved to reconnect with his family, but Klaus is traumatized beyond belief and clearly isn’t in the right state to make sound and logical decisions all the time. If we can forgive Five for murdering the Commission Board in cold blood and Vanya for blowing up the world twice, we can forgive Klaus for keeping Ben’s existence to himself (especially since he tried to tell them in S1 and was immediately written off as an attention whore.)

Now, let’s talk about the possession, aka my least favorite thing about the entire season. 

Ben possessing Klaus is assault. End of story. Non-negotiable. It’s not funny. It’s not cute. It’s not “payback.” It’s assault. 

We know that Klaus is terrified by his powers. We know that he has trauma in his past, involving non-consensual experiences. So does Ben. Worse, Ben was there for a lot of it. 

Ben flat out ignored Klaus’s discomfort for his own selfish gain. He was so hellbent on possessing Klaus that he ignored the fact that Klaus was terrified to go to sleep because he knew Ben would possess him without consent. 

And let’s acknowledge the fact that Klaus doesn’t owe Ben anything. He has no obligation to let himself be possessed. Ben is dead. And that’s horrible. It’s unfair and Ben did not deserve to die. But he. is. dead. The dead do not get free access to the bodies of the living just because they want to feel things again. 

Ben completely disregarded Klaus’s feelings because he had a crush on a girl who didn’t even know he existed. Klaus, who willingly accepted possession the second he realized it was important to Ben. Klaus, who laid out strict ground rules, showing he was clearly terrified of the idea, but still did it anyway because he loves his brother and harbors guilt for conjuring him the day of Ben’s funeral. Klaus, who had just been brushed off after failing to stop Dave from enlisting.

Ben possesses him and almost immediately starts to make out with a girl who thinks he is Klaus. That is sexual assault. If I have a twin sister and that twin sister sleeps with my husband, who believes she is me, then she has raped him. That is rape. 

Ben doing anything physical with that girl, who clearly showed that she was interested in Klaus, is sexual assault. She did not consent to sleep with Ben. She consented to sleep with Klaus, who was trying his best to break the possession and stop the entire thing from happening. 

And Ben fought him on it. We see them struggle in Klaus’s body for the next several minutes. Ben doesn’t care that Klaus is clearly uncomfortable, that Klaus wants him out. He selfishly wants to stay in control because of his own desires. He ignores Klaus’s rules and does what he wants without considering the consequences. 

This is the third time that Ben has used possession to control Klaus. We see it when they are fighting earlier in the season at the cult mansion. We see it again at the dinner with Reginald. We see Klaus essentially have a seizure (and we see none of his family members ask if he is okay. They just roll their eyes.) We see Klaus literally vomit once he forces Ben out of him in that alley with Five and Luther. Still, no one asks if he is okay. 

Worse than that, Ben says that he no regrets. And then reiterates the statement! Ben assaulted his brother and does not give a flying fuck. That’s crueler than anything Klaus has ever done. I would argue that it’s the cruelest thing any of the Hargreeves have done, to be honest. 

It doesn’t matter how much of an asshole Klaus is or how selfish or how flamboyant. His consent still matters. His boundaries are just as important. 

Overall, this season just gave Klaus more trauma while still leaving his PTSD and mental illness completely unaddressed. They essentially removed his powers and took away his bond with Ben. Like, in the first season, Ben is almost always with Klaus. That is Klaus’s power, after all. In the second season, Klaus’s entire arc is without Ben. All of his missions are without Ben present. 

There is absolutely no fucking way that Klaus wouldn't bring Ben with him to get tacos with Vanya and Allison. He loves Ben, more than anyone. We see that constantly in the first season, outside of a few mishaps. 

I love Ben. I genuinely love Ben and his story in the first season. But in S2, they took him and twisted him into a callous thing with no respect for consent or his brother. If those three years with Klaus in 1960 were anywhere near as bad as what we see in 1963, I can see why Klaus wouldn’t want Ben around his family. 

I was supposed to love Ben and cry for him. And don’t get me wrong, I did. I cried a lot in the last episode. But that scene with Vanya? Where he tells her she’s not a monster and that they should have done better and that they could help her control her powers? That’s the exact same damn speech he should have told Klaus. Vanya’s destruction was always outward. It always cost millions of people their lives. Klaus’s was inward. So why does Vanya deserve the help and love and support while Klaus gets tossed aside?

They both needed a family and only one of them got it this season. Sure, Allison and Klaus had some great scenes together. But she didn’t ask if he was okay when Ben possessed him at dinner. She didn’t check on him. 

Klaus deserved better. He deserved to work through is trauma and to have a family that takes care of him and supports him and helps him figure out how to deal with the ghosts. He deserved to control his own body and to say no when Ben wanted to possess him. He deserved a goddamn hug. 

Klaus was inherently selfish. However, he also gave up everything. He sacrificed his entire relationship with Dave to try and save his life. If he had succeeded, if Dave had never enlisted, they never would have met. They never would have fallen in love. Dave would never remember being with him. He nearly gave that up to protect the love of his life. 

Klaus is not perfect. He’s an asshole at best sometimes. But he’s also kind and compassionate and loves harder than every other character on that show. He deserved better. 

This has turned into a massive essay, but the bottom line is that S2 let Klaus and Ben down. So many things were handled poorly--from consent to mental illness. It could have been great. It could have been an opportunity to fix a lot of the mistakes made in the first season. Ben and Klaus could have talked everything out and figured out the ghosts and the war and the trauma together. They were never given that chance. 

There were so many good parts of this season, but the bad parts were so bad that it tainted the rest. I know the writers could have done better. They did it with Luther and Allison! They made their characters great this season and showcased some amazing relationships between the siblings. I’m confused as to how they let Klaus and Ben fall through the cracks so heavily.

my thoughts on The Umbrella Academy S2 [spoilers ahead]

so putting all my thoughts down was really hard. i decided to do it per character instead of like per appearance/episode - sorry if this is kinda hard to follow. this is also VERY LONG... hence the keep reading but here is a small taste -

he really overestimates his ability to time-travel

seeing five just mass murder people is highly amusing because he’s in the body of a 13yr old

also but how soft five was with vanya - i cry

ALLISON

she told those men that she blew those their mind + their heads literally blew up - mine about did too

the second she walked into that diner - i was pAniCKing

the way those women were READY to throw down when allison ran into their shop - we stan them all (one of them was wielding a piping hot curling iron)

her husband ray is the sweetest of men + just what she needed before having to go back to twentieth century/glamour

i really liked the way they showed the consequences of allison using her powers - how she quickly slips back into bad habits. how it makes her into someone she doesn’t like

i’m really glad they didn’t forget claire - i was gonna be mad if she wasn’t mentioned

LUTHER

i stan luther hargreeves + i run the luther hargreeves protection squad cuz all of you are meanies who like to blame him for everything when in reality the real problem is their father

controversial opinion that i will be making a much larger post on but i ship allison x luther - they aren’t biologically related, they were only raised as siblings, there is 0% wrong with them falling in love

luther didn’t bother me in s1 like he did all y’all but that’s cause i’m mature enough to realize all of the siblings are fucked up - so the fact they made him more likeable this season is so nice. maybe ya’ll will take a chill pill on your luther hate-train

it was very interesting seeing luther so apathetic for the first bit of the season, when he had such a hero-complex last season

listen his talk with vanya in the barn was amazing - some people might be upset about the gun but the last time any of them saw her she had just blown up the fucking moon mkay?

he apologized for failing as a brother

for not being there

and he even said he didn’t care if vanya was bullshitting him

last thing - luther underestimating his self-importance now because of how he overestimated his self-importance in s1. i love that psychological circle

DIEGO

him being in the nuthouse makes perfect sense - i won’t lie

his role-reversal with luther this season was so *chef’s kiss*

TEAM ZERO *gives diego the fist-bump he deserved*

the moment lila slapped him when he leaned in for a kiss was the funniest shit ever - ‘i don’t understand you’ - then she kisses him - i was cackling

she gave him so much shit + i love that about her

when reginald yelled at him + it made his stutter come back for the fist time since he was a kid - FEELINGS

so in that last battle when diego redirected those bullets - that’s a power of his in the comics isn’t it? or is that just his power? projectile redirection? cause that was a confusing ass way to introduce that. just saying

him interacting with grace this season was like... hard cuz it’s not really her

KLAUS

the fact he made a cult is just so... klaus

he very much so looks like a hippie jesus

i’m kinda glad they showed him relapse because in a lot of media once someone gets clean it’s all butterflies + roses + unicorns out the ass. in reality - relapses happen

the family still isn’t very nice to klaus but we can work on that - they are better than before. it’s a work in progress

as a gay i appreciate the fact the writers heard all of us saying vanya is 100% gay + being like ‘ok sure’

it makes me kinda sad how happy vanya was with no memories vs s1

her connection with harlan was just so - amazing

also, i think harlan always had powers + that’s why vanya was able to pull a moses at the lake + jesus harlan back to life

i liked sissy. i also liked how she gave us a glimpse into a very realistic thing that used to happen to women who loved women. they would marry men because it was the norm. they’d also have affairs.

and her choice to stay was one made by a good mother - she was putting harlan first. every good mom puts their child first. even if they so desperately want to be selfish.

in good news - vanya now knows she likes vagina!

the fact they legit used LSD on vanya while she was being electrocuted was A LOT

TUA Season 2 Thoughts

Okay, I know I’m extremely late to the game here, and I’m sure a lot of people have already touched base on the good and bad moments of this season; so I promise that the bad points that I do touch upon, will be short cause I do want to focus on what I loved.

First and foremost, I want to say that I did love season 2 with my whole freaking heart! I was ooooooh so very wrong with a lot of my predictions (and right in others *cough* Lila *cough*) but as I continued watching, I couldn’t bring myself to care (not too much anyway, there were a few things I was mad at, but meh).

 I loved seeing Hazel and I loved that the big oaf at least got 20 years with Agnes before she finally passed on. While I wish we could have seen snippets of that life and love rather then just flash backs to them in season 1; I’m still happy that Hazel got to live his life the way that he wanted to live it. Sure, I wasn’t happy that they killed him off, but for plot purposes it made sense—but on a lighter note, at least he could cross over into the afterlife and be happy with Agnes again. Right?

 Elliott is a hoot and I feel so bad that he died. All that poor man wanted was validation that he wasn’t crazy (which he got) and for someone to eat his damn Jell-O (I love ambrosia btw, but even I wouldn’t eat that ambrosia he made… sorry Elliott).

The sibling interactions between ALL OF THEM!!! JUST AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! It’s everything I could have hoped for and then some!!! The slap fight between Klaus and Ben on the street, Ben’s “You’re so independent, you fight your own damn battles”. Five and Luther reuniting “She’s too young for you” “Dad should have left him on the moon” (I snort laughed at both of these sentences). Then there’s Klaus and Allison reuniting, Allison not even hesitating to jump into the pool to hug her brother. OR THE WHOLE FAMILY REUNION!!! That Vanya and Allison hug! That hug as Klaus joined in and planted a kiss on the top of Vanya’s head!!!! The whole interaction between Allison and Diego “Can’t say Hi to anyone?” just omg, I could go forking on and on with this, because the banter and snappy comments from all of them are just total sibling culture and I relate sooooooooo much to it. (best believe I will jump on someone’s back like a damn spider monkey to protect my siblings, but I’d also sooner shank them too)

RAYMOND AND ALLISON!!!!! I’m ALLLLLLLLL FOOOOOOR THIS RELATIONSHIP!!!!! LIKE OMG!!!!!! WHY DIDN”T SHE TAKE HIM WITH HER!!!!! THEY ALREADY SCREWED THE TIMELINE UP ENOUGH BY JUST EXISTING THERE IN 1963 ANYWAY!!!! Like seriously, I’m actually upset that she didn’t take him with her, and now it looks like her daughter doesn’t even exist either… like omg Allison, sweet heart. Nooooooo.

I LOVE Luther’s development this season, the fact that he goes to apologize to Vanya, and actually takes blame for what happened, just makes me happy to know that the big lug is trying. Yea I know he took the gun with him, but honestly, I can’t blame him either. He was obviously scared and didn’t know what he would walk into, would she try and kill him again? Like we know the gun wouldn’t do sh*t to help him, but Luther wasn’t sure of that. Plus he never actually pulls it, his hand is constantly on it, but he never pulls it out, which shows that hurting her was not the end game. He wanted to actually apologize and he hoped that his sister would hear him out enough to allow him to do it.

I loved sissy and vanya. The friendship that turned to romance was cute, and while I’m still iffy with it because Sissy was married, I also understand to a small degree that Sissy truly felt stuck. Even without Vanya’s interference, I highly doubt Sissy would have been able to get a divorce and manage to keep possession of her son. Carl is an absolute bag of d*cks, and with Carl having a brother in the police force, who’s to say that they couldn’t spin something that would allow them to take Harlan away from her? I honestly can see a divorce between these two getting messy and none of the outcomes working in Sissy’s favor. She would have never been happy inside or outside of her marriage. But Vanya gave her the hope that she might actually find it. (IDK, I’m still really on the fence with it, and the infidelity, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy Sissy/Vanya’s cute little moments while it lasted…)

Also, can I just say, Sissy blowing the scent of coffee into Vanya’s sleeping face, was truly and utterly adorable and such a dorky thing to do and I loved it.

ALL OF THE KLAUS AND ALLISON INTERACTIONS!!!! ALL OF THEM!!!

THAT SALON SCENE!!!

THAT DANCE AT THE SALON!!!

Also, not going to lie, Odessa was a bad ass b*tch and I love and will protect that woman as much as I will love and protect Raymond Chestnut. I don’t even care that Odessa was only in a few episodes, that woman stole my damn heart and I truly would have loved to see more scenes with her and Allison and the friendship they had.

The elevator ride going up to the light supper, the freaking conch shell, and the siblings’ interactions during the whole thing (Allison rumoring Diego to punch himself, and Vanya’s cheeky “oops” after showing off her powers, just *chefs kiss*).

Ben and Vanya!!! I FORKING CRIED!!! I had to bloody pause the damn episode because my tears were getting in the way of me watching!!!! (trust me, there was a long moment of silence for Ben after that.)

All of them piling into Vanya’s car on her way to save Harlan. That entire scene was a masterpiece “Child get in the back” followed by Klaus just flopping on top of Diego and Allison, like OMG!!! And Luther… poor Luther “If I hear one fat joke, I’m out”

Everything to do with Five and Older Five was hilarious. I’m sorry call me immature, but the fart jokes were funny (even if they did start to get old after a while). Also, poor Luther, once more. We stan one lousy spotter but a brother who tried his forking best anyway.

Luther being a big (little) brother and covering Allison AND Klaus during the hail of bullets.

Klaus being observant and noting things long before anyone else. Like even at the end, when Vanya was taking her power back, everyone else was watching her but not Klaus. He kept glancing around himself while also taking in the scene periodically. There is something there, I can forking feel it. Between that pill scene in season 1, him looking up to the moon with no reason to do so, him spotting The Handler and Lila, him knowing/guessing that Lila can only mirror one power at a time—despite never actually fighting her himself—it all has to add up to something??? RIGHT???

I didn’t think I would like the Swedes… yet here I am putting them in this column. Still mad that they killed Hazel (but as Five told Lila, the job was a job, it was never anything personal). They hardly had any lines at all but their personalities alone and the little things we saw were just… what the hell but I still loved it. haha.

 I CAN”T WAIT TO SEE IF WE LEARN MORE ABOUT THE OTHER CHILDREN MYSTERIOSULY BORN!!!!! Like I wanna see the sparrow academy kids, but I hope we might learn about a few others too. Like how many of those kids didn’t make it? How many of those kids were born with a twin? Were their any triplets??? Like can you imagine that poor woman who had to give birth to not one child, but two that she didn’t have an hour ago??? (and possibly three even though I doubt there were any triplets… but what if there forking was!!!)

SPARROW BEN!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! I mean, I’m glad Justin is staying on the show, he’s awesome and I do like Ben, but I’m a bit sad that this won’t be the Ben we’ve seen in the last two seasons (I’ll still eat it up, don’t get me wrong, cause I’m curious to see this alternate Ben, but I’m still sad).

 Also that Vanya and Diego interaction at the end, neither of them having to say anything but still leaning on each other for support, just AHHHHHHHH

The sibling bonds that have begun to form between all of them is what really killed me this season and I loved each and every second of it!!!

 All the one-liners were pretty good too, like the “Ikea mafia” “Think of Batman than aim lower” “Is it too late to be un-adopted?” just efgjoiwengjowegnwrjngwe

Vanya actually using her powers to save someone, and Ben solidifying that fact by telling her she isn’t a monster. 

the music choices!!!! 

 I’m sure I will add more to all of this in another post, I’m still forking reeling over here and can’t get all of my thoughts straight, but goddamn I loved this season! Dysfunctional idiots—the lot of them. But at least they were making dysfunctional decisions together XD

Okay, now for the things I didn’t like…

Again, I’ll be brief cause I know that there are probably plenty of people who have touched on this already and I’m sure you all are sick of seeing or hearing it by now (so feel free to skip over it all together).

Klaus not telling his family SEVERAL TIMES that Ben was there.

Ben possessing Klaus without his consent (and Ben breaking the rules that Klaus had put into place as Ben nearly got frisky with Jill)---like I can’t even say I’m mad that he possessed Klaus at the light supper. I didn’t like it, it made me uncomfortable, but from Ben’s perspective I understood it. to Ben, he felt like he didn’t have a choice, Klaus had constantly taken Ben’s choice away by not telling the family he was there, so if Klaus wasn’t going to tell them on his own, Ben had no choice but to try and do it himself. I get that, I did. But the whole “Burrowed” scene in the elevator made me cringe something fierce.

The fact that we get Klaus looking badass in the first five minutes of the season, and then Klaus basically being useless the rest of the season, pissed me the ever-loving fork off. I mean, come on!!! EVERYONE ELSE FOUGHT LILA!! WHERE THE HELL WAS HE!??? I’m hoping this is all just setting Klaus up to be something greater in the next season, that maybe now that Ben is gone Klaus will have no choice but to relay on himself and tap into that “Potential” that Reginald had hinted at in season 1 (my fingers are soooo crossed that this is the case)

Not getting their reactions to Ben sacrificing himself (I needed more then just seeing Klaus lying forlornly on a bed, I’m sorry, but I definitely needed more than that). Klaus and Vanya’s interaction in the car did not make up for any of it either.

I don’t know where to put my thoughts on Lila and Diego. While I liked them in the beginning, their relationship kinda lost me the moment she spiked him and basically kidnapped him. I like Lila, don’t get me wrong, but that scene made me really uncomfortable too.

The interactions with the Handler and Five. Like okay, I get that the Handler isn’t treating him like a child because basically Five is supposed to be 58, but it’s still forking creepy to see her swaying her hips behind Five who is stuck in his 13-year-old body. Just… no.

The fact that we only see Allison mentioning her daughter 2 times. Like sure, she’s had 2 years to grieve, but I want to see that grief!!!!

How the show tied Sissy and Vanya’s story line up, and how they tied Allison and Raymond’s story line up… like nooooooo. How the hell would Sissy be safe in the past???? Carl’s brother was a forking police officer??? Does she seriously think his brother isn’t going to come after her when he learns his brother is dead????? Also how is Raymond supposed to explain that he suddenly doesn’t have a wife anymore???? These things don’t just fix themselves!!! Like I understand Five saying they couldn’t come, that it could change things beyond repair, but all seven of them existing in 1963 in the first place has already forked everything up enough as it was.

(Ignore me, I’m just salty that we won’t be get any more Raymond/Allison interactions…)

Anyway, negatives pushed aside, I can’t stress enough how i did love the season!!! And I can not wait to see where season 3 goes!!! I HONEST TO GOD CAN NOT WAIT!!! In the mean time, I will be attempting to write several things for season 2… fix-its, in between moments, whatever I can think of. Let’s see where that goes.

Rant Time!

Okay, I normally try really hard to stay out of fandom discourse, but this is really starting to get on my nerves and I’m actually going to pop a blood vessel if I don’t get it off my chest. 

Fact: All of the Hargreeves Children were abused. 

All of them. Every. Single. One. They all went through trauma. None of them know how to be functional adults. All of them hold on to something that caused them the most trauma. Luther is overprotective. Diego is angry. Allison is manipulative. Klaus downplays himself. Five wants to do things alone. Ben is dead. Vanya is bitter and vindictive. All of this to say that we can’t accept the faults of one and abuse the faults of another - they’re all the same. Not one of them had a better upbringing than the other. 

Fact: We don’t know what caused the first apocalypse 

We don’t. Heck, we don’t even truly know if it was Vanya. We assume, and it probably was Vanya, given her relationship with Leonard, but we don’t know. What we do know is that it wasn’t the moon. It couldn’t have been, because not having a moon(or having a broken moon) probably would’ve been very noticeable to Five who spent at least 30 years there, and wouldn’t that have been a huge clue? Wouldn’t he have mentioned that “oh yeah, something happens to the moon during the apocalypse”? He didn’t. 

Fact: Vanya’s anger was, in part, because of her pills.

We know that her powers are based on emotion, which means the pills - the ones she took twice a day that made her feel numb - were probably a very strong antidepressant, meant to completely numb her emotions. And what happened with those pills? She went off them cold turkey. The pills she was taking for 25 years. Did she overreact with Allison and the others? Yes, she did. However, there’s no doubt that her body had developed an addiction to her medicine, which she suddenly wasn’t taking anymore, and therefore now she’s feeling things she’s never felt before. Can you imagine not feeling anything for years and then everything hitting you at once? Not pleasant. 

Fact: Just as Vanya’s actions are explainable, so are Luther’s. 

A lot of how Luther acts really does make sense. Reginald conditions him to be the “perfect soldier” - loyal, obedient, trustworthy. Luther’s been raised his entire life to believe that he is the leader: he has to protect his siblings, he has to lead them, he has to make the decisions. Add that to his already low self esteem and yeah, he may make some irrational decisions, and that’s okay! All of his self doubt and insecurity is completely pointed at himself, and it’s easy to forget that he’s suffered when he acts the way he was raised to be. 

I fully believe that Luther had no intention on keeping Vanya locked up forever. Cruel as the fandom makes him out to be, not even he would do that - especially without food or water, like come on guys, he is not that cruel. All he even knew about her was that she was dangerously powerful, mentally unstable, and had already lashed out at them - specifically at Allison, who had treated her the best all week. And that’s the real kicker - he wasn’t offended by the fact that Vanya hurt the one he loved, he was offended that Vanya had hurt the sibling that was currently closest to her. He was afraid of what would happen if she was close to one of the other siblings - like Diego, who had been cruel to her all week! And in that moment, Luther chose to protect his other siblings at the cost of Vanya’s sanity rather than chance her lashing out and hurting them. I really do think that he was planning to wait it out, let Allison rest, possibly even wait for Five to come back, and then discuss how to help her. It’s also possible that he put her in an (seemingly) indestructible cage so that she could release some of her pent-up anger without risk of hurting someone. 

Am I a Vanya stan? Yes. Do I think she meant to cause the apocalypse? No. Is Luther the villain of her story? Absolutely not. 

If we were to blame Luther for her dissociative state, we should also blame Diego for being accidentally cruel to her all week, and Five for leaving her and not bothering to check up on her, and Allison for not trying hard enough to connect with her(without criticizing Leonard), and does the fandom do this? No. 

There’s still so much I want to touch on(like how the reason Vanya didn’t believe Allison about Leonard makes so much sense considering that first Allison got on to Vanya for not having a love life and then when Vanya did get a boyfriend Allison wrote him off, like ouch, that would hurt) but I’ve rambled enough to make a lot of people on this site hate me and you know what? I don’t care. Somebody needed to say it.

Hey, avid Luther stan here... I'm here for sneeze prompts. What if, as a result of trying to stifle his sneezes for ages, he ends up with a tiny little kitten sneeze that he's ALSO embarrassed of? Like it's just this big ass 6'5 man trying to hold in his earthquake-like sneezes and failing, and everyone expecting a loud boom and it's just this... "Ah-chee."

:) ooh I love this. I also HC Luther as stifling until he physically can’t anymore, although never thought of him as having “cutesy” stifles (which I feel like is what you’re describing???) but I can try!!!

Luther = the (Unsuccessful) King of Holdbacks because holding back is hard when 1) youre immunocompromised and 2) four years away from Earth made you come back with a ton of new sensitivities/allergies (BUT HE DOESN’T KNOW THIS YET!!!! 😈😈😈)

ANYWAY HERE HAVE A FIC:

“You shouldn’t be smoking that in the house.”

Diego startled up from the blunt Klaus was holding out to him, nearly coughing out all of the hit he’d been in the middle of inhaling. With fire in his eyes, he turned around to glare at Luther, who was standing in the entryway from the foyer, arms crossed and jaw locked (Diego didn’t pick up on the red, irritated eyes and strained voice immediately).

Still facing the other direction, Klaus stole the rest of Diego’s hit. They’d only been passing the blunt around for about five minutes. They used to smoke together a bit when they were teenagers, but that was years ago. Diego ‘my body is a temple’ hadn’t smoked since. It had taken a lot of effort on Klaus’ part to get him to smoke again, and he’d finally given in. This was a big deal to Diego, and he was not about to let Ape Boy ruin this nice brotherly moment (or, more importantly, his first high in eleven years).

“Luther, we’ve been over this. Dad’s gone, so you can take the stick out of your ass now.”

“I don’t — I let Klaus smoke cigarettes in the house, which is what Dad always said not to.” Luther sniffled and scrunched his nose. “This is different — and should you really be encouraging Klaus to do drugs?”

Klaus grinned and shook his head behind Diego as he re-lit the blunt.

“It’s weed! Come on, you know you’re probably the only one of us who’s never even tried it.”

Luther had no comeback for that; Diego was probably right. Klaus turned around and grinned, holding the still-lit blunt out to Luther.

“Come on, Lulu, smoke with us!”

“Klaus, get that thing away from me - heh!” Luther’s nostrils flared and he brought a hand up to his face to swat the smoke away. Klaus pulled his blunt back and shrugged, finishing the hit for himself.

“Suit yourself, Sandra Dee,” Klaus joked, before putting on a show of theatrical fake coughing. “’Oh no, Rizzo, I can’t possibly smoke that. I’m too holy, I’ll get my little white satin panties in a bunch! You’re such a bad influence you dirty, dirty slut.’” Diego gave him a look before continuing.

“We used to smoke in here all the time, Number One — you know, those of us who were actually teenagers at one point? You knew then and it never bothered you.”

“Well, now I know I don’t like it, and I’m asking you nicely to please not smoke it in the house.” Luther indulged in a small sniffle and a quick, discreet swipe of his nose with a gloved knuckle.

“Hey, don’t knock it ‘til you try it!” Klaus held the blunt out to Luther again, holding it all the way up to his face this time.

Luther’s lips instantly parted with a loud, sharp intake of breath, in response to which he took a step back, bringing the collar of his overcoat up to cover his nose. Klaus pulled his blunt back again, fearing the possibility that the oncoming sneeze might blow it out (it blew out anyway).

Klaus and Diego both tensed slightly. Neither of them had seen Luther sneeze in at least ten years. In the past, Luther’s sneezes were pretty average; usually restrained, but on the softer side rather than the harsher side, even on the rare occasion that he let them out fully (usually only happened when he was sick and too tired to hold back).

But now, his larger physique made his brothers expect larger… well, everything from him. Watching his huge chest expand so much with such a deep breath, they both braced for impact.

Luther held his collar to his face, and after a second, shaky breath, ducked into the fabric:

“nXGTchiew! hihh… hih'ixht-chiew!”

For a second, Diego and Klaus just blinked at him, mouths agape. Luther took in another breath and hesitated for a moment before releasing the breath in a sigh and poking his blushing face out from behind his collar, eyes downcast to avoid his brothers’ stares.

Finally, after a few seconds of silence, Klaus softened, a loving smile crossing his face. And Diego burst out laughing.

“Aww, bless you! That was so—“

“What the hell was that?” Diego interrupted, asking in between laughs. “Cat got your sneeze, Big Boy?”

Though he knew it was mean, Klaus couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at Diego’s joke. Yes, Luther had always stifled his sneezes, but not to this extent. And there was just an inherent comedy about seeing a big strong man like Luther let out a tiny little kitten sneeze.

Luther didn’t find it funny. Watching both his brothers laugh at him, his shoulders hunched unconsciously.

“Shut up,” he said gruffly, sniffling only a little bit deeper than before. The flame from Klaus’ lighter against the end of the blunt as he relit it captured Luther’s attention again. “Klaus, would you please just put the stupid thing out — ihhh.” Though he fought it, his lungs expanded wildly until he turned to his side and pitched forward again, nose pinched between thumb and index finger. “hh'xxGHt!”

“Salud.” Diego grinned. “I’m just saying, you really are full of—“

— “HAH'kgxtch!”

— “Bless you!”

“ —surprises, aren’t you, brother?”

Luther just stood there behind his hand, on the verge of another sneeze, though his nose was not yet fully committed to the idea. Diego bit down on a grin, watching this. “What’s got you sneezing your brains out, anyway?”

Luther pointed to the blunt, which Klaus was currently smoking.

“Maybe it’s the… huh… hnn'kgt! ixhgt’chiehh” Diego held a protective hand in front of the blunt, just in case Luther got any ideas.

“Nope, we’ve smoked around you and you’ve never reacted like this before. Try again.”

“Does someone have a cold?” Klaus teased, though he was somewhat serious. He reached out the hand he’d just used to light the blunt to feel Luther’s forehead, but his brother swatted it away, bringing his hand up to his face as his breath hitched again.

“No, Klaus, it’s the toxins you’re smokihh-ixgtsh! ixgtshieww! hh'NXXT!”

“Jesus, Lulu, bless you! Seriously, are you feeling okay?”

“More importantly: why are you sneezing like a little girl?” Diego raised his brows at Luther; Klaus bit down on his lip to suppress a giggle.

Luther was flushed red now, and not just from embarrassment. His eyes were itching, and starting to water now, too. He rubbed them absentmindedly.

When Klaus noticed this he stopped laughing.

“Luther, your eyes.” Luther stopped in his tracks. “Diego, look at his eyes.” Diego rolled his own eyes, and held the blunt up to his lips to take another hit.

“What about them?” he asked before inhaling.

“They’re all red.” Klaus tried to reach out a hand to wipe a tear away form his brother’s cheek but Luther pulled away. His face fell; everhthjng was starting to seemed to click into place. “Maybe he is having some sort of reaction to the weed. Maybe he’s allergic!”

“He never has been before.”

“I don’t think I have any allerg — wha?!” Luther was cut off by Diego holding the still-burning blunt up to his face. “What are y... hih!”

Luther quickly brought his hand back up to his nose and turned around, shoulders jolting away from his brothers three times with three rapid, completely silent stifles.

“Diego, what the hell?!” Klaus grabbed the blunt from his brother and stubbed it out in his ash tray —but it was too late.

Luther’s body continued to be seized by nearly silent convulsions, his shoulders jerking more and more each time, until finally he left the room, still sneezing.

Klaus slapped Diego on the wrist.

“Ow!”

“When someone says something’s bothering them it’s probably not the best idea to shove it in their face.”

“But it’s never been a problem before!”

“Well clearly it is now.”

“kgt'CHhiehhh…NGXTschew! hhKGXTchew!”

They were interrupted by the explosions down the hall, both flinching at the increasing volume of their brother’s sneezes as he slowly lost control over them.

Then came the sound of very loud nose blowing.

Diego and Klaus tried to bite down on their laughter; loud sneezes were unfortunately just as funny as quiet ones, and the nose-blowing didn’t help. Especially when you were high (in Diego’s case, for the first time in years).

Finally, Klaus crossed his arms over his chest and tried to give Diego a stern look (it was hard, he had to bite his lip really hard). Diego shrugged and bit down on his own grin.

“Congrats? You were correct?”

“Diego.” Klaus wagged his finger at him. “That wasn’t very nice.”

“You were the one who was shoving it in his face first! I thought he was just being a dick. Come on, so did you.” Klaus broke into a fit of giggles and nodded.

“Whoopsies!” He picked up the blunt and his lighter. “Let’s take this outside before we actually hurt him.”

Diego followed him out into the backyard. Halfway there, he started sniggering.

“Did you hear those fucking sneezes?” Diego finally asked in a whisper. Klaus just smiled

“I thought they were cute. And you were being mean.” Klaus grinned as he reached the doorway, blocking Diego’s exit from the house. Diego just chuckled.

“Come on, let’s go smoke.” Klaus booped him on the nose.

“I think you owe someone an apology first.”

my tags on this post:: #YES!!! #yes yes yes #okay #so#everytime someone mentions or even hints at dave having anger issues i wanna fucking cheer bc thats one of my biggest hcs for him#like yeah he’s sweet and gentle and respectful and all that - genuinely a good man - our lil jewish gay#BUT#he did grow up in the 50s and 60s which as op said would have surrounded him with a lot of toxic masculinity. now i dont think he would be#a toxic kind of masculine AT ALL but it definitely would have forced him to hide his emotions and feelings and idk hobbies and of course his#sexuality. and i say hobbies bc there isnt a canon answer for it i dont think but i personally hc dave as being someone who loves art#specifically: drawing. dave keeping a lil sketchbook and some pencils under the pillow on his cot in vietnam?? yes please#so anyway yeah - he wouldnt have really had any good examples of how to properly take care of your anger - although he has enough#heart and common sense to know its really fucking wrong to take it out on women and children and people one is dating WHICH - another hc i#have that ties into this is that somehow his dad found out that he’s gay and beat the crap out of him over it. because unfortunately thats a#thing that happens. so his main male example was an abusive pos. and then he goes to vietnam which is fine because its not like he has#anyone stateside that will miss him - that will talk to him anymore - and its a warzone so there are a lot of ways to work out your anger#and yeah that of course includes bar fights. and he does - usually - try and keep a hold on his anger until he’s away from anyone who might#feel threatened - and he doesnt wanna end up taking out an innocent on accident - but he’s not actually perfect and so sometimes he fails#and it happens around klaus one time and seeing his love’s reaction - the making himself smaller - trying to hide - going quiet and so#clearly afraid - and not just afraid but afraid OF HIM - freezes him to the core where he stands because nobody has ever reacted like that#before. or if they have he never noticed or cared because they didnt matter. but this is klaus. his klaus. who he loves and would never do#anything to hurt him. his klaus who he protects and defends and knows he wants to spend his life with - no matter how impossible it is#he wants to go to klaus and apologize - try to undo the damage done simply by him raising his voice and lashing out - but he doesnt know#what to say or how to say it - he doesnt know what to do with the situation honestly. so he leaves the tent and goes to take his renewed#anger and frustration out on whatever he can find so he can calm down and hopefully get into the right headspace to have whats#no doubt going to be a really hard conversation with his boyfriend. because where do you even start??#but of course they talk it out and dave promises to work on his anger and on how he lets it out and yknow.. its dave so klaus trusts him and#it takes some time - there are some incidents - but dave works hard and learns a lot from klaus - including how to unlearn a lot of shit he#grew up with - and its rough but having a partner from the future who breaks all kinds of barriers definitely helps#so y eah. those are my brief feelings on it and i wanna marry op
