The next morning came terribly fast, which was pretty much the opposite of what you had hoped for. You awoke groggy and unsettled, the night hadn’t the courtesy of blessing you with the rest you so badly needed to prepare for what was to come. Today was the day of the well awaited festival, the day you looked forward to all year, and now you were dreading in with every fiber in your body. While you tried to convince yourself you were ready to face Neteyam, you were still utterly terrified at the possibility of potentially facing rejection.
You pulled the light sheet that held warmth to your body over your face, hoping your mother would somehow forget you even existed.  You weren’t even sure you were breathing. Your body tensed when you heard footsteps nearing, shutting your eyes and making a wish for them to disappear. Perhaps it would’ve worked had you not used them all up last night, begging for at least a couple hours of continuous, undisturbed sleep.
The sheets were pulled from over your head, the bright sunlight making an abrupt reappearance and aiding in waking you up completely. “Maaaa!” You groaned, throwing an arm up to cover your eyes. “Leave me, I’m not ready.” Your whining did nothing to deter your mother from her plans.
“Up, child. There is no time like the present.” She sat beside you, grabbing your arm and gently pulling you to sit up next to her.
You sluggishly lifted your body from where you had fallen asleep last night, your shoulders slumping as you looked at her with doubting eyes. “But what if it all goes wrong?”
“No fear, everything will work out the way it is meant to in the end.” She spoke reassuringly, stroking your arm.
Your mother was always so positive all the time, and usually she was correct. You had no idea how she did it, but it’s been proven your mother knows best so you listened. You exhaled, your uncertainty leaving along with your breath and nodding your head in agreement.
“Good, now we must begin. There is no time to waste.” She grinned.
Taking your braids down took what felt like three lifetimes. In na’vi culture when a woman is looking to court a potential mate, her hair must be loose and styled differently than it is everyday. Something about impressing the male you would be promised to. You tugged at the beads that had been woven into your hair for about a month now, wincing whenever it would catch a loose strand in the process. Though the action of unloosing them was both daunting and aggravating, you couldn’t help the way your excitement grew every time you moved onto the next one.
You ran your fingers through your jet black hair, it slightly wavy from the style it had previously been in. It stopped just above your mid back, the sides pulled back and secured with a clasp adorned with beautiful crimson colored feathers. Two strands were left out in the front, the bottoms having two of each of the beads you used for Neteyam’s necklace on them.
Your mother had sewn together a gorgeous outfit for you, the top garment using the same feathers you had in your hair. They were strung together with thin beaded loops, about three small feathers coming down on each side of your chest to maintain your decency. You held it out in front of you, looking towards your mother apprehensively. The top was so tiny, you wondered if it would actually even cover anything.
Thankfully for you, it did. You still felt a bit exposed as this was much more revealing and dainty than something you would normally wear, however you knew it was only because of the occasion, so you obliged. The feathers felt soft against your skin, and you gently toyed with the intricate beading that tickled below your collarbone. You eyed yourself in the slab of glass that served as a mirror, covering your mouth in awe at the sight of yourself.  You hadn’t felt this beautiful in a while and your mom could tell, coming over to give you a tight hug and smiling back at you in the reflection.
“My child, you look stunning. I cannot believe how much you’ve grown.” Her voice was one of intense admiration, backing away and waving her hands as she started to tear up.
“Mama,” You laughed to yourself, bringing a hand up to your cheek as you quickly became embarrased. Your smile was bittersweet, approaching your very emotional mother and taking hold of her shaky hands. “Don’t cry. I’m still your little syulang.”
She sniffed and nodded in immediate agreeance, pulling you into yet another hug that you were sure would cut off your airways this time. Wiping her tears, she reached over to grab the necklace the two of you had made off the table, gently placing it in your open palm and closing it. “Go get him.” She gleamed.
~~~
Neteyam sat on a stool in front of a mirror in his family’s home, head hung in silence and hands clasped together in his lap. He eyed them closely, feigning interest while his thumbs twiddled idly. The tension in the air between him and his mother as she prepared him for the festival could easily be sliced with the knife he kept strapped to his waist. His braids were pulled back, orange feathers weaved into the strands here and there. He had a burning urge to pluck them out, grimacing at the fact that Eyiti would be wearing matching ones.
Neytiri worked on him silently, a word hadn’t been spoken between them since his outburst yesterday, and he felt the guilt eating him alive. His mother always had something to say, even if it were something as simple as correcting him on his grammar. Knowing her to be outspoken, she made sure her opinion was always heard, even if nobody wanted to listen. So the fact that he hadn’t heard her so much as scold him made him worry. Either her feelings were vastly hurt, or she was in deep contemplation about something.
“Your father and I have made a decision.” The sudden appearance of his mother’s voice caused his head to snap up in her direction, his mouth open slightly while he awaited the verdict. He searched her face for any hint towards what she would say next, but lately it’s been hard for him to read her emotions. Saying the two of them had been disconnected recently was putting it lightly.
“And?” He questioned, his voice just above a whisper. For some reason he was afraid that if he asked too eagerly, the answer he received would be opposite of the one he so badly wanted.
“And,” She sighed, placing the tool she had used to help re-braid his hair down on the table. “We have decided to let you choose your own mate.”
His eyes widened the second the words left her lips and his arms trapped her in a tight embrace before she could fully finish what she was saying. “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” He repeated, feeling that familiar lump return to his throat. “I’m so sorry for what I said, mother.” His voice split as her hand came down to affectionally caress his head.
“Neteyam,” She peered down at him empathetically, using her hand to turn his face towards her and keeping it on his cheek. “Do not apologize, you were right. We have no right to dictate who you love. I chose for myself, as should you.” She nodded, pulling him away gently so she could finish getting him ready. “All that’s needed from you, is to get through tonight.” Tying his songchord around his bicep, she smiled at him and gently placed her hands on his shoulders. “And after that, I would love to meet the girl my son has fought so hard for.”
~~~
You watched as na’vi gleefully danced into the auburn night, singing out praises to the spirits and celebrating a year that had awarded your clan with yet another bountiful hunting season. There was a big bonfire off to the side where a circle of drunken men sat around, laughing loudly and feasting on the legs of an animal with gluttony. You clasped the necklace in your hands tightly and carefully made your way through the crowd, repeating affirmations in your head to keep yourself from puking. It was simple, really. Find Neteyam, give him the necklace, and tell him you have feelings for him and want to be his life long mate. Boom, happily ever after. Easy, right? Wrong. You kept forgetting that she-devil would probably be attached to him at the hip, making your plan even harder to go through with than it already was.
You shook the image out of your head before it burned itself into your skull, mapping out your breathing to remain calm. “You can do this. You can do this. You can do this.” You mumbled to yourself, peeking your head around in the mass of people until your eyes locked on the man of the hour.
The second you saw him it felt like time came to a full stop. Neteyam looked even more breathtaking than usual, you had thought that would’ve been impossible until this very moment. You honestly had to stop thinking like that, this was the second time he had proven you wrong and it was getting kind of embarrassing seeing as your mouth would hang open in utter shock every time. Colorful beads and feathers embelished his hair and he wore a shoulder piece that made it easy to determine his status when he stood next to the other young men. You stared at him incredulously, almost forgetting what you were supposed to be doing right now.
You wished you could have stayed there forever and it was nice while it lasted, but unfortunately it was time to face reality.
A body that had been blocking your sight of who was next to him moved to the side and Eyiti came into view, her hand clasped onto Neteyam’s forearm as she stood next to him. Her grip so tight you could see the indentations in his arm, it looked like it hurt. You swallowed what felt like an impossible lump to push down, closing your eyes and repeating encouraging words to yourself.
You quickly decided it was not working like it did before.
“I can’t do this.” Your chest heaved, your lungs out of breath without even holding it. You spun around on your heels before he could notice you, prepared to accept defeat and go home.
But the unexpected sounds of blood curdling screams and shrieks caused you to gasp and quickly return to your prior position, the commotion of people frantically running to safety not allowing you to see what was going on. “What? What’s going on?” You grabbed the shoulders of some around you and spoke anxiously, but your attempts were futile. Your ears perked up attentively at the sound of a spine-chilling growl.
Oh no. Not here.
Your feet picked up speed before your mind could register where they were taking you. Ducking through the crowd, you hurriedly ushered the children who hadn’t yet found their mothers together and in the opposite direction of the growling. War cries began to ring out, and you watched as every hunter surrounding the perimeter of the common grounds raised their bows and weapons with haste.
“Wait!” You hopelessly shoved past barriers of your people, your voice not having the ability to project over the warriors shouting above you. You squeezed yourself between panicked bodies and nearly tripped over limbs, your ears letting you know you were getting closer.
Jake and Neytiri had since stood from their chairs that were positioned to look down over the people, and the expressions on their faces let you know that the situation in front of them was far from good.
Directly in front of Neteyam and Eyiti stood a blood thirsty Palulukan, it’s six strong legs aiding in it’s slow and menacing prance towards them. By the looks of its nostrils flaring in agitation, you were sure it would pounce any second. Neteyam, being the fearless warrior he is, instinctively stepped in front of Eyiti and raised his bow, stretching an arrow against the string with one swift motion.
You forced yourself into the center where others had backed up enough to make a large circle. Mothers held onto their children protectively, more terrified than ever. “Neteyam, lower your bow!” Your voice caught his attention almost instantly but his arms stayed raised in position, ready to protect whoever he needed to.
His eyes did not meet yours, instead they stayed targeted on the vicious animal in front of him and he shook his head harshly, not daring to let his attention waver. “Get back [Y/n]. Now.” He ordered.
You shoved the necklace you realized you were still clutching away and into your bag, your hands put out in front of you as you pleaded with him. “Please, you are scaring her. She will pounce.” You responded breathlessly, your eyes flickering between him and the most feared creature on Pandora who was obviously not in the best mood. You were most familiar with her than the others of her species, she was the one you often ran into when venturing through the forest and you could instantly tell by the sound of her growl. You usually had scraps to offer her but it was extremely rare that a Palulukan would come deep into the village, leaving you with nothing to utilize but your own skills.
“She?” You heard Lo’ak’s voice carry over from the top of the hill, referring to the fact that you knew the gender of the savage animal you all heard stories of when you were young. “[Y/n], are you crazy?!” He screeched.
Kiri’s head snapped in his direction and she swatted at his arm. “Lo’ak, hush! You must not distract her.” Whisper yelling at him so only he could hear, he rubbed his arm to soothe the sting and scowled at her.
Tuk peeked out from behind Kiri’s legs, tugging on her fingers to get her attention with a worried look on her face. “Is it gonna hurt her?” Kiri peered down at her younger sister, gently shushing her and shaking her head before returning her attention back to you. Her gaze was one of profound fascination and oddly enough— trusting.
Pre-occupied with trying to stop Neteyam from releasing his arrow in defense, you hadn’t noticed Eyiti slowly backing away from him, the look on her face one of great terror.
The last thing you wanted to do when face to face with an animal threatening to attack, was move.
“Do not!” You shrieked, your warning coming late when the snarling creature started towards her. She screamed in fear, tripping over her own feet and falling flat on her butt. Her eyes flooded with tears and she used her hands to crawl backwards, farther away from the snarling beast. You hate to admit it but there was a tiny part of you that wanted to let this creature sink her teeth into the girl who had made it her life’s mission to terrorize you. The elders, including Neteyam’s parents and hers, stood in attention at the top of the hill at the roots of home tree. Eyiti’s parents called out to her in distress, but they were much too far to assist and moving would only accelerate the attack. They would never make it in time.
You jumped into action, strategically positioning yourself right in the middle of the Palulukan and a defenseless Eyiti. The entire clan gasped, some even cried out prayers and shielded the eyes of their children as they were sure you would die in this very moment. Neteyam was the only one who relaxed somewhat, the string of his bow becoming less taut. He wasn’t entirely sure why, but for some reason, he felt you knew what you were doing.
“Ma Jake!” Neytiri cried out, one hand on her chest and the other grabbing his arm, begging for him to do something. “It will kill her!”
Jake stared down at the scene unfolding in front of him, completely bewildered with his mouth hanging open. “What the hell is she doing? Get out of there!” He yelled.
With your shoulders pulled back confidently, you mirrored the hunting approach of the animal in front of you and glared through your brows, stalking like a Palulukan would before ambushing its prey. You watched it take a step back once you rounded closer in attempt to force more room between it and the blubbering girl behind you, then raising a hand in the air to silence the na’vi who had many distracting comments and opposing opinions against your methods. “Mawey my people, mawey!” You shouted, not taking your eyes off the task in front of you.
Your olo’eyktan watched intently, signaling his approval to the men to lower their weapons like you instructed.
Kiri smiled from ear to ear while watching you, the expression on her face contrasting greatly from everyone else’s. “I knew it.” She whispered to herself, resulting in Lo’ak looking at her like she had lost her Eywa-loving mind.
The giant beast opened its mouth and a loud, menacing roar rumbled deep from its diaphragm. Sharp quills stood tall off its neck while its beard flared out as an intimidation tactic. You stood unfazed, tilting your head with narrowed eyes and loudly hissing in response. Your ears had fallen flat against your hair while you barred your sharp fangs right back with no fear. Neteyam blinked at you in genuine disbelief when the animal’s challenging stance faltered, its legs lowering itself into a submissive position in defeat.
You sighed in relief and rolled your eyes, steadily approaching the beast and gently stroking its head. “What is the matter with you, Yuna? Were you trying to get yourself killed?”
“I-is she… talking to it?” The younger Sully boy questioned, looking back and forth to anyone for an answer. Nobody could respond to him, everyone stood in shock- not able to process what had just happened. “It has a name? Bro, is nobody as lost as I am right now?” He screamed, his hands holding his head as if it were about to explode.
Your eyes dropped down when you noticed one of her legs slightly raised off the ground. You quirked an eyebrow and crouched to get a better look, easily recognizing what had made her come into the village in the first place. There was a thick, sharp chunk of wood lodged between the webbing of her paw. It would have been impossible to remove on her own.
“Oh my… you poor thing. Let me help you.” Your voice was sympathetic as you lowered your head to examine how deep it had gone, deciding it was safe for you to remove it. You used all of your strength to lift the paw that was much bigger than the size of your head with assistance from the creature, gripping the large splinter and finally removing it with a grunt after a few seconds of tugging. The animal roared in pain, and with a whimper its demeanor quelled due to the instant relief, earning an accomplished smile from you. You looked around in search of food, grabbing some teylu out of a bowl from a table off to the side. You tossed the blood stained slab of lumber to the ground once you rose to your feet.
“Make a path.” You ordered, watching the crowd that was huddled around you hurriedly part like the Red Sea.
You waved the worms in front of the creature’s nose, watching her nostrils twitch with interest before you threw them into the direction of the forest. You watched the thanator gallop away, sighing and wiping your hands off onto your legs.
“Ma Jake… Who is that girl? She possesses a fine ability.” The Tsahik stared down at you, her voice seeping with pure awe. She couldn’t even blink. Neytiri had never seen such a display in her entire life. A Palulukan had not been tamed like this since… well, her. Almost two decades past. And even then, that had been an offer of assistance from Eywa to restore balance to the land during the war with the sky people. A genuine taming, such as this, was completely unheard of.
Kiri placed a hand on her mother’s shoulder. “That is the girl Neteyam has been trying to tell you about this entire time, mother.” She smiled. “That girl, is [Y/n].”
“My daughter.” Your mother’s voice clarified as she emerged from the crowd to address Tshaik, effectively catching Neytiri’s attention, but your mother’s eyes remained on you from afar. She had been watching closely, off to the side the entire time. You had explained your hunches with the animals of Pandora to her before, how you felt a deeper connection to them than most did. All of them, even those forbidden to interact with. Though she had never seen it for herself until now, her faith in you never wavered for a second. Her eyes filled with pride seeing her daughter prove herself in a way even better than she had imagined.
Remembering you were in the middle of the circle, you looked up to see everyone gawking at you and cleared your throat before speaking up.
“Um… I’m sorry about her. You all can go back to the party now, everything’s fine. Please, proceed.” You looked around and motioned to the tables that still had candles lit atop them, staring blankly at all the eyes that were glued to your face. You were definitely not used to having this much attention on you, or attention period. It was so quiet you could hear the crackling of the bonfire in the distance. Nobody could believe how casually you were speaking about what you had just done.
“Y-you saved my life… I- Thank you.” Eyiti was a sniffling mess, her body trembling in shock from what could’ve resulted in her death. Her cheeks were stained with tears and for once in her life, her expression matched her words. Oh how it made your heart swell with joy to see her groveling.
Looking down at her, your face twisted as if you had smelled something rotten. “No, I saved my friend’s life. You, however, just happened to get lucky.” You scoffed, making your way out of the circle.
Neteyam’s breaths were heavy as he watched you, glancing up to his father with sanguine eyes, a silent plea to go after you. As soon as Jake hurriedly gave him the okay, he was running off into the crowd. Not even taking a second to help his so called ‘date’ up from the ground that served in humbling her.
He tried his best to keep up with your strides, losing sight of you a few times and apologizing to those he bumped into. He rolled his arm, swiping off the shoulder piece that was preventing him from keeping up with you and letting it drop to the ground. He plucked the feathers out of his hair with zero regard of those watching, wanting to rid of everything that had to do with the girl who kept you two apart.
You managed to make your way out of the sea of people and faded into the forest, ducking under branches and successfully escaping from the sudden influx of attention you gained from your entire village. A relaxed breath left your lips once you were out of sight, trying to take in the fact that you had saved not only one life but two, all while in front of the boy you were preparing to confess to at that. You whipped your head around at the sound of leaves rustling, hearing a voice that never failed to make your heart jump.
“[Y/n], wait!” Neteyam called out for you, his expression softening once you finally stopped. “Jeez, you’re fast.” He breathed out.
You couldn’t help the smile that threatened to appear on your face, dissappointment quickly flooding back in once you remembered the reason the two of you hadn’t been together in the first place. “Yes?”
He searched your eyes for anything that would tell him you were just as stunned as he was, but he was unsuccessful. You stood in front of him, appearing nonchalant despite what had just occurred. “What was that back there?” He asked, reaching forward and taking hold of your arm. “It was like you knew what to do. How?”
You looked down at his hand on your skin, not even being able to think as he was touching you. You swallowed hard, shrugging your shoulders sheepishly as you tried to find an answer. “I-I don’t know. I just… I listened to her. It was like I could hear her- hear her voice.” Your tone grew faint when your eyes met his again, realizing he had never once stopped looking at you, even when you stopped looking at him. You chewed your bottom lip, lowering your head to stare at the ground with a puff of air that was supposed to be a laugh. “You think I’m crazy now, don’t you.” You mumbled.
“No, no! I believe you, I do. I promise.” He shook his head vigorously, dipping his head to catch your faltering gaze once he realized that his wide-eyed, dumbfounded look must’ve given off that impression. “Look, I’m really sorry about yesterday. I did not plan for any of that to happen, with Eyiti. It was my parents doing, I tried to get out of it but I couldn’t…” He sighed, his voice faltering when he spoke of her. He didn’t even want to think about her, let alone bring her up to you.
He felt you pull away slightly, apprehensive due to you having no idea what was really going on behind the scenes other than what you had witnessed with your own eyes.
“[Y/n],” His eyebrows creased apologetically, his hand coming up to hold your cheek. “Follow me, please. I will explain everything, I just really, really need you to come with me.”
You could never say no to him, even with the residual feelings of betrayal that lingered in the back of your mind. The desperate look worn on his face was enough for you to give in without another thought. A small nod of your head brightened his face up immediately, though you could tell he was trying to let himself not get too excited at the small victory.
He took your hand into his, fingers intertwining and hearts racing. Your cheeks heated red as he pulled you through the forest with a firm grip, no intention of letting you go.
You followed closely behind him, looking back in the direction of the festival when you heard music resume in the distance. You felt a pang of guilt, you didn’t want to be the reason he got in trouble yet again. “Neteyam, you are the chief’s son. Are you sure you can just up and leave like this? They will surely be looking for you-”
The two of you broke out from the trees and onto a stretched path, your breath catching in your throat when you were suddenly pulled into his chest. If you had inched just a smidge closer, your noses would have been touching. You blinked sporadically, probably to keep yourself from fainting.
“I do not care what anyone thinks. Now is not about them, it’s about you.” The words flowed from his mouth smooth like silk, and with the way his amber eyes eyes were mending into yours you truly felt as if nothing else mattered to him. “Yesterday, you said you wanted to go on another Ikran ride with me, no?” You had no idea how he was able to maintain eye contact so easily, your legs felt like they were about to snap at any moment and you thanked Eywa you had his arms to hold onto.
“Yes…” You would have looked away by now, but his eyes were inviting you in. There was such a different look to them, like he was seeing into you. The sound he made to call for his banshee brought you back to reality. “O-oh, right now?” You gulped, seeing his Ikran land at the end of the trail.
“Yes, now.” He laughed at your stuttering, gently pulling your hand and leading you over. He glanced at you while he prepped the saddle, a playful smirk playing on his lips as you eyed the animal, the apprehensiveness you held for years trying to re-introduce itself. “Oh, don’t tell me you’re scared. This isn’t your first time.” He hopped onto its back, extending a hand out to you.
Your mouth fell open and your eyes narrowed, pretending to look offended at his teasing. “You wish.” You took his hand and grinned, allowing him to pull you up behind him. You settled into the saddle, breathing out before loosely snaking your arms around him like you remembered.
“Come on love, I don’t bite.” He chuckled, taking your arms and tightening them around him. “Wouldn’t want you to fall.” You blushed, a small shiver striking through your body when he grasped your hands and placed them over his chest just like he had done the first time.
“Shut up.” Had he not been able to hear the grin overshadowing your words he probably would have thought you were being serious.
“Ready?” He looked over his shoulder, face beaming.
Before you could even respond, a chirp to his Ikran sent it plunging into the sky at full speed. A scream left your mouth, but unlike last time, this one was oozing with exhilaration. Your grip on him tightened and you pressed your cheek against his warm back, a laugh producing from him at your thrilled squeals every time he took an unexpected dip or a turn.
Your eyes were so focused on the gorgeous display below you that when you began to ascend higher and higher into the sky, the landscape seemingly shrinking caused you to look up at his focused expression. “Where are we going?”
“You’ll see.”
After a few more minutes of flying passed, your set destination came into view. The hallelujah mountains approaching made you gasp in amazement, you had never once gotten to see them up-close due to your now squashed fear of flying. He felt your heartbeat quicken against his back, the sensation of his hand reaching back to rub your thigh instantly drawing your attention away from the scenic landscape in front of you.
The banshee came to a gradual landing on one of the larger floating platforms, its heavy wing beats slowing once its feet made contact with the ground.
Your gaze immediately locked on the faint flickering of candles in the distance, having trouble pulling your attention away from them as he dismounted. “Neteyam… What is that?” Your voice was calm and directed towards him- but your eyes remained in front of you, worried that if you expressed too much interest, whatever it was that he had set up would disappear.
“Just, come on.” He smiled diffidently and pinched the back of his neck, ignoring your question and holding his hand out to you once again.
You hurriedly grasped it and hopped off the saddle, using his arm to stabilize your landing. You could tell he was a bit nervous but you hadn’t known the exact reason why. He leisurely lead you along and you turned your head towards him, the smile on his face making your own appear as a blanket laid over the grass with a few small, lit candles became visible. You held his hand with both of yours now and squeezed gently, marveling at the set up still ahead. You couldn’t contain your excitement and skipped off without him, lowering to your knees on the soft fabric at your feet.
You brought a hand over your mouth to stifle what would’ve been your one hundredth gasp of the day, taking a glimpse around and seeing a spread of your favorite fruits and snacks positioned off to the side. “Neteyam,” You lifted your head to see he had caught up with you now, grabbing his hand and lightly pulling on it to urge him to sit down with you. “You did this for me?” The spread along with the pillowy, bioluminescent foliage around you were all very enticing, but you couldn’t look at anything else but him.
He sat beside you, blushing and nodding his head while eyeing everything like it was his first time seeing it. “Yeah. Well, I may have asked Kiri for some help cutting the fruits. And Lo’ak assisted me in bringing everything up here…” He trailed off once he saw your sudden unamused expression, most likely due to the fact that he always struggles to take credit for the sweet things he does. He cleared his throat, rephrasing his answer. “Yes, I did it for you.” He grinned.
Your hands came up to cup his flushed face, yellow orbs overflowing with adoration for the man in front of you. “This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever thought to do for me, I-“ Your sentence came to a halt and your hands slowly retracted from his face upon remembering something that still hadn’t been addressed.
He noticed your demeanor change, bringing his hands up to stop yours from falling completely. “I talked to my parents,” Somehow he was able to answer the question that was lingering in your mind, without you even having to say it out loud. “They’re letting me choose now. I can choose my mate.” He repeated, making sure you didn’t miss a single word he was saying.
“That’s good.” You smiled at him sadly, not being able to help your gaze falling to the side to avoid looking at him.
He rolled his eyes at you in a joking manner, hooking a finger under your chin to tilt your head back up at him. “And I choose you, sxkawng.”
“You can’t,” You shook your head, feeling betrayed by your own mouth at the words it picked as a response. “I am not a healer, Neteyam. Or a hunter. I don’t have what it takes to be Tsahik. I can’t-“
“No,” He cut you off before you could finish, like the words angered him to even listen to. “You don’t need to be anything other than yourself, [Y/n]. Do you not remember how you single-handedly managed to save our village tonight? You have proved yourself plenty, trust me.” He rubbed the back of your hand with his thumb. “You are so much more than special, and you always have been. Especially to me.” His tone comforting and leaking with affection, he used his other hand to caress your cheek while he reassured you.
“Neteyam….” You melted into his touch and leaned against his hand, feeling all the uncertainty you held for yourself slip away.
He went to tuck one of your front strands behind your ear to get a better look at your face, then he paused. Watching his expression change, his eyebrows furrowed as he peered at what was woven in on the ends. “These beads,” He stared intently, deep in thought while he rolled one between his index finger and his thumb to try and spark a memory. “I feel like I have seen them before.”
Your mind instantly flashed back to when you had pushed through the circle to stop the Palulukan, remembering that you were still holding the necklace when you came into his line of sight. “Oh!” You quickly reached behind you to grab your small pouch, lifting the strap over and off your shoudlers then opening it and sifting through the contents. He watched curiously, his eyes illuminating when you revealed a necklace made of the same beads that were in your hair.
His mouth opened but you were already explaining before he could ask. “I-it’s for you. I was gonna give it to you, at the festival. But then I saw you with her and everything started happening so I-“
He delicately took it into his hands, tilting his head to the side to get a better look. His head was dropped down as he studied it and silence that weighed in the air began to worry you.
“You don’t like it?” Your voice was quiet and your sweating palms indicated how nervous you truly were.
His strong arms suddenly pulled you into a hug, holding you tightly. You were shocked at his unforeseen actions but ultimately had zero complaints. “I love it.” He whispered, pulling away to look at you with one of the most genuine smiles you’ve ever seen on his face. “You made this for me?” He sounded like he couldn’t believe it.
You quickly nodded, still trying to gather your thoughts. “Well, it was my idea, but I was on a time crunch so my mom-“ You stopped yourself, seeing the same kind of look on his face you had given him earlier when he went off on a tangent to discredit his efforts. The both of you were thrown into a fit of laughter at the moment of deja-vu. “Yes, I made it for you.”
You took the necklace back into your hands, motioning it towards him as a silent offer to help him put it on. He obliged, using a hand to hold his braids up and out of the way.
You licked your bottom lip and sat up on your knees, realizing now that you had accidentally volunteered yourself to get closer to him. You moved your body in his direction, not missing the way his eyes tracked every movement you conducted. You brought your hands apart and circled them around his neck, trying your hardest not to think about the way his breath was fanning against your shoulder, his lips lightly grazing it. You felt his gaze boring into your face, the pace of your heart increasing as you fiddled with the clasp before fastening it.
“There, all done.” You mumbled, allowing your hands to trail against the skin from the back of his neck down to the front of his chest. As you pulled away it was impossible to hide from his stare, your eyes connecting with his. The both of you sat there for a beat, simply looking into each other’s eyes until he decided to make the first move. He leaned forward, stopping inches from your face. Your breath shuddered, his eyes falling from yours, to your lips, then back up again.
“Can I kiss you?” He breathed out, his fingers brushed against your sides, eager to hold you but wanting to wait until he had your permission.
God, you thought he’d never ask.
He took you falling in to close the remaining space between your lips as a prompt yes. Your eyes fluttered to a close the moment your lips met, your arms ribboning around his neck to bring him closer. His hands followed suit and grappled onto your waist, his right arm hooking around your back to pull you up and into his lap as the kiss deepened almost instantly.
You broke for air after a few seconds, raking your hands into his braids when he quickly became too impatient to wait for you to catch your breath. You held his head whilst he placed featherweight kisses along your jaw, mindlessly craning your head to the side to grant him further admittance to your sensitive skin.
You nuzzled your cheek against the top of his braids, not being able to stop yourself from inhaling deeply to take in his scent. You felt his lips latch and suck on the skin of your collarbone, gasping at the feeling and knowing it would for sure leave a mark. Biting your lip to contain your voice, you drew your body away from his.
His head snapped up to look at you, fearful that he had done something you didn’t like or made you uncomfortable in any way.
His worries were extinguished once taking in the wanting look on your face, eyeing carefully when you reached back to grab your long braid and pull it forward. He followed suit, eagerly bringing his own to present it to you. The ends of your queues unveiled from the hair that protected them once in close proximity with each other.
“[Y/n], we will be mated for life if we do this.” He started, not wanting to rush you into a decision just in case this wasn’t truly what you wanted.
You placed a reassuring kiss on his lips, pressing your forehead against his once you pulled away. “I promise, Nete’. I want this.”
The two of you brought your hands closer, your queues grasping onto each other and intertwining to make Tsaheylu. Your breath caught in your throat and your eyes closed, your body trying to adjust to the new feeling that had been gifted to you. It was as if you could now feel everything he was feeling, think everything he was thinking. You felt the immense love he held for you all these years coarse through your veins. He had already told you this, but feeling it was something completely new, a foreign sensation you didn’t know you could crave this badly until now. Neteyam’s head hung below you, and based on the short, uneven breaths that could be heard from him paired with his chest rising and falling— you knew he felt it too.
He finally raised his head to look at you, his hands tenderly rubbing up and down the sides of your body. You allowed your back to be pressed against the soft blanket beneath you as he switched the position the two of you were in, meeting your lips again. His lips chased yours every time he felt you pull away, and with each kiss his lips transferred the burning desire he had onto you. Your mouth parted instinctively when his warm tongue swiped at your bottom lip and you gladly allowed it in, hands fervently grasping onto each other in attempt to be closer than you already were. You smoothed over his chiseled back, fidgeting under him slightly at the heat you felt starting to grow deep in your core while his wandering hands served as further ammunition.
You had no idea where he learned how to do all this but you were so far from a complaint that you wouldn’t even be able to hear if it yelled your name. The two of you kissed like it would be your last, lips melded together to confirm it had been a mistake that they were apart all these years.
“‘Teyam…” You softly moaned against his lips, his ears flicking in delight at the way you called his name. You trailed a hand down his torso, fingers rolling over his abs and feeling them tense at your touch. You rapidly felt yourself growing impatient, your back arching off the ground and your heaving chest coming in contact with his.
His large hand squeezed the plush area where your thigh met your hip, lifting your leg to wrap around his waist securely then dragging his hand back up to continue loving on your heated, dark blue skin. A finger finally slipped under the string of your loincloth and with one swift motion it could be lost and forgotten for the night. His heart was beating against his chest so hard he swore you could hear it. He didn’t bother to open his eyes, but simply hovered his lips over yours with enough room for you to speak.
“Do you want me to stop?” His tone was gruff and deep, tail swishing in delight as he could already feel what the answer was against his leg.
“Please don’t.” You panted out whatever would use up the least time, not wanting his lips to leave yours for more than a second and using your hand at the back of his neck to pull him right back down into you.
~~~
You were glad tonight would be a warm one, seeing as the two of you wouldn’t be moving from this spot anytime soon. Where in the world he had tossed your garments was a problem to be saved for the morning.
Even if you actually wanted to move, you couldn’t. Neteyam’s arms were wrapped so tightly around you, as if you would slip right through his fingers if he let up in the slightest. Not to mention that you were sure the minute you’d try to stand up, the stability of your legs would automatically succeed in embarrassing you.
You couldn’t exactly see just how marked up the skin surrounding your neck and chest looked, but brief flashbacks of him nipping at where he’d noticed other men ogling at before pretty much told you that you were in for a treat. Your mother would probably faint if she saw you like this, so you’d make sure to stop and get some yahlnabark in the morning to tend to the bruising before home.
Neither you or Neteyam had taken it upon yourselves to break Tsaheylu, wanting to relish in the unfamiliar feeling of comfort it brought. Enjoying your hearts beating as one, you cuddled closer to him while your queues lay connected between your exhausted bodies.
You spent your time afterwards threading your fingers through his hair and against his scalp, appreciating every part of him. The both of you took turns feeding the other pieces of fruit, easily resembling a cliche married couple on their honeymoon and giggling at yourselves for it, completely lovestruck.
“You are so beautiful… Did I tell you that already?” He twirled the strands of your hair along his fingers, his elbow propping him up and his eyes utterly mesmerized as they trailed from your head to your toes over and over again. He had said it so many times already that you were starting to forget your own name.
You cheesed, nodding your head while he continued to delve into how gorgeous you looked for the umpteenth time regardless of your answer.
The twinkling stars in the sky above begged for your attention, but all your eyes could focus on was him. The way his face lit up when he spoke of something that excited him, the sound of his voice when he laughed at his own corny jokes. You could listen to him go on and on for hours. You lived for it all and didn’t want to miss any of it.
“I won’t disappear, you know,” He chuckled at your melancholy expression, planting a prolonged kiss on your cheek that made your heart skip a beat. “Not this time.” He assured, lifting the back of your hand to kiss your knuckles.
This was definitely something to get used to. Him displaying his love for you so openly as well as literally being able to tell what was on your mind.
“I know that, but I can’t take any chances. I miss you already and you’re right here in front of me.” You pouted, not being able to stop it from transforming into a sheepish smile.
After a while of laying together he started to doze off, his slowed breathing indicating as such. He had tried to keep himself awake for as long as he could, going to sit back up every time he felt his eyes begin to close and swearing that he wasn’t tired. You had to hammer it into his head that you would remain next to him; that if he fell asleep you would still be here in his arms when he woke up. He eventually fell asleep with his head on your chest, his arms maintaining a concrete hold on your body to make sure you would keep your promise. With his tail loosely wrapped around your thigh, indistinct, quiescent snores could be heard from who you had come to love so deeply over the years.
You wished he had been awake so you could poke fun at his possessive behavior. Every time you moved so much as an inch from him, just to see what he would do, he stirred from his slumber and pulled you back flush against him with a muffled, exhausted grunt in protest. The sensation of your heated skin pressed close to his was enough for him to let his guard down and rest without worry, even if it were just for tonight. He knew he still had hardships to face, but the fact that you would be there by his side through it all helped erase all feelings concern. The man who spent his entire life protecting everyone could now bask in the same treatment. One night with you was all that was needed to heal all of his wounds. The confirmation that he now had you as his mate for the rest of his life, and in the next, aided in keeping him sound asleep.
Though it was most likely the influx of newfangled emotions washing over you, you couldn’t help but grow emotional while watching him sleep so soundly. In all your years of knowing Neteyam, you had never seen him more at peace than he was with you in this very moment. The space between his eyebrows held no weight, his shoulders no tension. His body and mind were completely relaxed for the first time in forever.
Trailing your fingers over the necklace you had made him, you chewed your lip to stop your grin from enveloping you as you remembered the way he had peppered your face with endless kisses just a bit ago, thanking you over and over again for such a thoughtful and sincere gift. He swore the only way he would take it off is if it broke, and even then he would come to you and have you fix it.
You listened to the distant sounds of the forest tucking itself in for the night, insects humming, the leaves on the trees gently swishing when the occasional breeze would pass. If someone had told you just two weeks ago that you and Neteyam would be mated for life, you would have laughed in their face. You couldn’t believe you had gone from being his secret admirer to the love of his life right before your eyes.
You vowed to always support him and love him unconditionally. You would never again allow him to feel less than he was- a beautiful, strong, humble man deserving of all the love he craved and more. You gazed down at him as you felt sleep creeping up on you, brushing the loose hairs from his forehead and seeing the corners of his mouth unconsciously turn up into a subtle smile.
“I see you, Ma Neteyam.” You whispered, eyes softly flittering to a close.
Hey! I just read your Jamie Tartt fic where the reader is pregnant and I freaking loved it! It kind of got me thinking about Jamie bringing his little girl, cause he’s totally gonna be a girl dad, to the pitch for practice. She’s like 4 or 5, really young and wearing a Tartt jersey and has the entire team wrapped around her finger, especially Roy.. bonus if her favorite player is someone else on the team, any of them, and Roy and Jamie get jealous… if you could write it great! If not no worries! Thanks for the consideration! 🥰🥰
As soon as you get comfortable your boyfriend lays beside you. “How am I supposed to feel?” Jamie whines to you, crawling onto your lap.
“Can you back-up to the beginning of your story? I have no idea what’s happened, and you pretended like I came onto the field with you," you tell him, rubbing your slowly growing belly.
He smiles and adjusts himself so he lays by your side, head resting on your shoulder so he can also rub your belly.
"Tell me why you look like my sad Jaim."
"She-"
"Dani is so cool!"
You glance away from your excited and jumpy daughter to your even more depressed boyfriend.
"Why don't you tell your mum what you told me?" Ron's voice echoes throughout the hallway as he closes the front door.
"Dani did this really cool move and- and-"
You try and shush, "babes. Babes." You sigh when you don't get her attention. "Honey, take a breath and breathe. I want to hear about your exciting day, but you can only do it if you talk a little slower."
She stares at you.
Roy grabs a seat on one of the chairs you keep out for company (because the team comes over more often than you'd like, right now being pregnant; they take a lot of you). "Why don't you tell her more about the fun you had today?"
"Jan's really tall and gave me piggyback rides while dad was practicing, even though he should have been too."
"You made it fun, Baby Tartt."
You furrow your brows, unsure of who said that.
Roy shrugs and mouths, "phone."
Jamie slumps further into your side.
You open your arms, wanting to pull your baby girl in for a hug and make a poor attempt at trying to get the phone before your chatty girl drops it.
Meaning you two would need to buy another phone (your goal is to make it last six more months).
The screen shifts to the ceiling before Dani's face pops up. "Hi. How are you? Do you need some of my family's special pregnancy soup?"
You smile and shake your head. "No, thank you, Danny. I appreciate the offer though."
"Of course, of course."
"So, how was today's practice? I hope it was alright."
"Oh, it was great. Baby Tartt shows promise to follow in her father's footsteps."
"Oh, does she?"
He nods, "yes, yes. I showed her a few moves and-"
"More like took her attention from me," Jamie grumbles.
Roy scoffs.
You shake your head, wanting to listen to what Dani's saying without commentary from the peanut gallery.
It only lasts two minutes longer until you can't take it anymore.
"Dani- dani- I'm sorry, I'm feeling a little nauseous and I don't want to keep you any longer. I know you have other things to do. I'm sure we'll talk more soon."
"Alright, I’ll leave you to rest. I know how much a woman in your condition needs her rest, especially with Jamie’s baby.”
Your boyfriend beside you grumbles, “what does that mean?”
“You are a good football player, meaning you have strong kicks.”
He doesn’t respond but you do know that Dani’s comment uplifted his mood just a little bit.
“I hope you have a good rest of your evening and get plenty of rest,” the excited player waves to you.
Your daughter leans in, waving. “Bye, Dani! I’ll come by so we can practice more.”
“That is good to hear. I can’t wait until your next visit.”
You end the call and look up. “Sweetie?”
Jamie and your daughter look at you; you pat your boyfriend’s shoulder.
“Not you, J.” You glance back at your adorable baby girl. “Can you go get me my special blanket? I’m feeling a little cold.”
She nods, “okay.”
“I can help-”
You shake your head, “nope. Neither of you are leaving this room until you confess.”
“Confess? Confess what?” Jamie asks.
“You know what. You two have never looked more upset and depressed at the same time. I want to know why so I can help you.”
Roy clenches his jaw.
“You don’t have to say much, Roy. But you, my dear Jaim, have to give me something so I can figure out whether or not a hug will suffice for right now.”
He groans and removes himself from you, throwing himself onto the other side of the couch. “She likes him more.”
Your head snaps over at the gruff man. “What?”
He sighs, “your future athlete, liked Dani more than she liked her dad on the field today.”
“And you,” Jamie points at him. “Don’t throw me under the bus and expect me to just sit here and let you-”
You grab Jamie’s hand, intertwining your fingers, “stop it. There’s no need to fight.”
The older man crosses his arms. “But it’s not fair.”
“What’s not fair? I need you to explain to me because I have no idea what it is or how to help you.”
“She wanted to practice more with Dani than she did me. I mean, how does that make sense? How is that fair? I’m her fuckin’ dad, you know.”
A small smile tugs at the corner of your lips. “Jaim, you shouldn’t feel that way.” You brush away the hair that falls in front of his eyes.
“How else am I supposed to feel? Made me feel like- I don’t know.”
“You do know but I won’t push you because I know it’s the fact that Roy’s here. But please don’t worry about that-”
“Well, how else am I supposed to feel?”
You sigh. “Jamie, she’s wearing your number and has your name on the back of her jersey. She may want to hang out with him a few times but you’re her dad. You’re her number one player.”
Roy clearing his throat makes you roll your eyes, “and you as well, you big baby.”
The gruff man smirks in return, not wanting you to know how that makes him feel (special).
You return your attention to your boyfriend. “You are the reason she loves the sport, without you, who knows what she’d be obsessed with other than her toys, you know. I mean, you helped her find her future.”
He finally looks at you for the first time since he got home. “I did?”
You nod, smiling at him. “Of course, you fucking did because you are Jamie Tartt. Best girl dad ever, Jamie Tartt.”
He cups your cheek before leaning in to kiss you.
You pull back with a gasp as a wide smile dances across your lips.
“What is it?”
“Someone’s also trying to show you that they’re your number one fan with their strong kicks.” You grab his hand and hold it over the spot.
The exciting moment between you two is broken when a certain ex-player’s hand hovers over your belly.
“Come here, you quiet old man.”
“Oi.”
You raise a brow at him.
“I’m not that old.”
“I found it.”
You all turn to find your daughter trapped underneath the blanket.
“Roy, go help her before she trips, please.”
Your boyfriend takes this opportunity to whisper sweet promises to the baby.
Once your daughter is free and can see properly, she watches the two of you. “What are you two doing?”
“Your sibling is kicking,” he tells her.
Her eyes widen and she rushes towards you, wanting to feel the kicks as well.
Jamie grabs her hand so the two of them can feel the baby kicking together.
You glance over at Roy, who’s set the blanket off the side; he waves at you before leaving.
“Are you two having fun?”
They nod, not wanting to break their concentration.
You groan, throwing your head back.
“What? What is it?” Jamie asks, worried something’s wrong.
“You two keep pushing the baby onto my bladder and guess what?”
“I’ll help you up.” He gets you up with no problems. He leans closer to your ear, whispering, “all you need to do is ask, darling.”
You narrow your eyes to him. “Really? You really want to get cheeky with me, Tartt.”
He only smiles and walks with you to the bathroom.
“Go spend time with your daughter before she’s old enough to go out on dates.”
“Don’t do that to me.” And he’s back in the living room.
You chuckle, finding it too easy to rile him up.
Interview day...
"This place is really huge... they didn't lie when they wrote it's a huge, nationwide project." (Y/n) thought as she stood in front of the Blue Lock headquarters. A week ago she received an invitation for an internship at Blue Lock, and as she was excited joining it, she was terrified. Will she be good enough for it? Will the players like her as their manager? Will the people interviewing see her as fit for the position?
Taking a deep breath, (Y/n) walked inside already seeing a woman with reddish-brown hair waving at her.
"You must be (L/n) (Y/n). I am Teieri Anri, I will be interviewing you along with the head of this project." The woman smile as she approached (Y/n) and the girl bowed.
"Thank you for inviting me, it's an honor." The girl said with a red face.
'Teieri-san is so beautiful! I saw her on TV a few times, having her as a possible mentor would be so cool!' (Y/n) thought as the woman lead her down the hallway, explaining that it's just some formalities they will go over.
"By the way, don't let yourself get scared off by Ego-san... he seems scary at first glance, but he means well." Anri warned the girl, who simply nodded her head.
Black eyes bore into (Y/n) as the girl kept fidgeting in her spot. Ego Jinpachi, as she came to know him, was scarier than (Y/n) had expected, but she shouldn't be surprised.
'You would expect him to be like that if he has to deal with a bunch of high schoolers.' The girl thought as Ego sighed, finally speaking up again.
"Alright, this one might do. Cancel the other interviews we had planned." Ego told Anri.
'Did... did I get the spot?!' (Y/n) thought alarmed as Anri nodded her head.
"And you think you will be able to stand the pressure?"
"I... well I have some experience from working with my school's football team, as I stated in the beginning. I also have some basic knowledge in the sport."
"Alright, Anri-chan will give you a little tour. You are expected to move here in 2 days. Now go."
'Harsh and straight to the point.' (Y/n) thought as she followed the woman out of the room.
"It went better than I expected! Some of the candidates folded 10 minutes after speaking to him, I think you will fit in here just right."
"R-really?! He was worse than this?!" (Y/n) asked, shivering at the idea.
"Not really, he is the same to everyone. You just argued with him on some points and maybe you didn't notice."
"I-I did... Sorry, I get lost when u talk sometimes." (Y/n) said, ashamed a little, but Anri kept reassuring her that it was fine.
"Don't you think this is brutal? To eliminate them just because they lost a tag game? And Kira is one of the best high school players too." Anri argued after the entrance exam was finished and both her and (Y/n) witnessed Ego argue with the white haired boy.
"It's final, if he can't think fast, he is not made for a striker." Ego said simply as he ate his yakisoba.
"Well, I am trusting you with them." Anri gave up.
"What is the next step? Will you start the matches soon?" (Y/n) questioned as the man shook his head.
"First we have a stamina training, then the real challenges will start. This is a game of elimination and survival of the fittest. Only the strongest egoist will survive this." (Y/n) nodded her head, looking at the monitors that showed the various teams.
'Ego-san sure is brutal, but in order to build up football from nothing we need the strongest... and so far it's these guys.' (Y/n) thought as she wrote down the names of all the players who are going further.
'Hmmm.' Ego raised an eyebrow, deciding to say nothing for now.
"Did you-"
"The goal was put just in the height you requested and every training area is equipped with water."
"And the-"
"The alarms are set just as you requested with that blaring sound."
"Also-"
"Ordered the Yakisoba."
Anri held back a giggled as Ego kept on being interrupted by the girl as she answered everything. It had been 2 weeks by then and (Y/n) finally got into a routine. It was funny for Anri to watch Ego pout in defeat as he told her to go assist Team V.
"I see you found someone who can't be easily intimated or angered." The woman teased as Ego shrugged his shoulders.
"Or you are growing soft."
"Shut up. You talk too much."
The next few days went somewhat peaceful and it was the night before the final match. Ego decided to do some more research on the players and prepare for the next step, when he heard noises from his office.
"I didn't leave anything on..." He muttered and opened the door, only to find (Y/n) inside, looking intensely at the game Team Z and Team Y had.
"What are you doing up so late? Watching a game at that?"
"Ego-san? I am taking notes of some of the players, you said you wanted to do some analysis but didn't have time."
The man was surprised as her words, but didn't show it as he took the notebook from her. He read it through, surprised how well detailed she was on the players.
"Why are you doing this? And how are you sure this is right?"
"I just like analyzing, I did the same in school too. And I am not a 100% sure, but 9 times out of 10 I was right, so I am pretty confident in this." (Y/n) answered calmly as Ego handed her the notebook and sat down next to her.
"Continue, u want to read these later."
Nodding, (Y/n) did as she was told while Ego just kept watching the screen.
"What did I say about feeding her garbage?!" Anri yelled as she saw (Y/n) and Ego eat the Yakisoba from the fridge.
"It's good food. In order to be a good at analyzing, she needs to eat." Ego argued as Anri handed (Y/n) some vegetables and fish.
"Here, eat this instead. We don't want you to get sick." Anri said, sending a side glare at Ego.
"What arebyou two even doing now?" The woman asked, looking down at the papers on Ego's table.
"I am teaching (Y/n) the essentials of reading the enemy. Now, as I said..."
Anri sighed as she watched Ego talking and (Y/n) nodding her head from time to time, with questions coming from her.
'This looks oddly cute... to see Ego-san have a soft spot for anyone is a once in a lifetime thing.'
Anri smiled softly and went on with the paperwork she had left for the day.
"Code red." Anri whispered to Ego who turned to look in the direction (Y/n) was.
"Not him now..." Ego sighed as he got up to pull the girl away from Oliver and Sae, but Bachira and Rin beat him to it. The boys pulled the girl away, saying some nonsense.
"Or maybe not." Anri laughed.
"Now I know for sure you have a soft spot."
"I don't. I just don't want more issues than I already have." Ego protested, keeping an eye on the U-20 team.
"Sure, sure~" Anri mucked.
i see him as the type to take you out on a date, strolling around the rain forest completely abandoning his forest ranger duties just so he could spend a little bit more time with you AHHH
tighnari's also very busy in the day, maybe the night but he'll always find his way back home, to you, possibly already asleep. he's extremely cuddly, i must say, (i'm s strong cuddly!tighnari believer idc) he's always finding a way to squeeze into bed with you even if the whole space is taken by you and you alone. JANDJS HE LOVES IT WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPY BECAUSE HE CAN'T HELP BUT GUSH OVER HOW ADORABLE AND CUTE YOU LOOK ):
he LOVES it when you take every single chance you get to ask him about anything plant related and stuff!! he appreciates that you make the effort to ask about his interests and all that, which he’d definitely do the same for you— except, he’d go over the top with it LMAO.
following that statement, tighnari is very supportive when it comes to the things that you like! oh, you like flowers? expect a bouquet on your doorstep every once or twice a week. you’re into art? he’s asking collei, or maybe even the traveller to run errands to buy some materials (maybe even go by himself if he has the time to). anything you want, he gets because he’s just that in love lol.
we all know how everyone wants to feel/touch tighnari’s ears and tails… of course he wouldn’t just let anyone touch it, and is usually just reserved for the people he’s close, and would only let them touch it in private. with you, it’s a different story 💀 he’d act like he dislikes it, but he continues to let you pet his ears and stroke his tail in both private and public, doesn’t matter where you guys are, if you want to feel them go for it! tighnari wouldn’t or doesn’t really mind.
speaking of his ears, tug on it during, you know what… and he’s SOLD. 🤭 ANYWAYS!!! thats for a different story (maybe..) moving on .
overall i think tighnari solos
this is not beta read ahhh its 4:30 am kjbhgv
Today was the day.
Today he was going to tell Danny Fenton he was in love with him.
It had taken him a while to figure that out. It had also taken them a while to get to where they were now. Dash used to bully Danny every day of their freshman year, but now as seniors they were friends. They hung out all the time. He was even friends with Danny’s friends.
And today he was going to tell Danny how he felt. He was pretty sure Danny felt the same way, but neither of them had confessed to the other. There were only lingering touches and lovestruck looks. Nothing concrete. But Dash had to tell him. Even on the off chance that Danny didn’t feel the same.
They were in between classes right now and Dash saw Danny standing at his locker with Sam and Tucker exchanging textbooks. Dash smiled and walked up to them, waving at Sam and Tucker from behind Danny’s back.
“Hey, Danny. Do you want to go to the Nasty Burger with me tonight? My treat.” Dash asked, leaning his shoulder against the locker next to Danny’s open one.
Tucker let out a whooping sound. “Collect my rsvp! I’m always down for free food.”
Sam elbowed him and whispered his name, shooting Tucker a look.
Tucker glanced between Danny and Dash and back again. “Oh wait. I forgot. Me and Sam have that thing tonight. Sorry, can’t go.”
Dash could practically feel Danny’s eyes as he rolled them at Tucker. “Yeah sure that thing that you guys totally have.” He turned to look at Dash and smiled at him. “I’d be down for that Dash. What time?”
“I’ve got practice after school today. How about seven? Meet you there?”
Danny turned back to his locker and closed it. “It’s a date.”
Butterflies erupted in Dash’s stomach. A date.
Sam snickered and Dash’s gaze flickered to her. Her and Tucker were watching them, trying to, but not very hard, stifle their laughter.
“Yeah! Cool.” Dash smiled at him.
“Okay you kids, let’s get to class.” Sam waved them after her as she started walking away. Dash fell into step beside Danny, their shoulders brushing as they walked down the hallway.
qqqqqq
Dash ran his hands through his hair a couple more times in the mirror before spraying a spritz of cologne on himself. He was nervous but also kind of excited. He was finally gonna tell Danny how he felt
He grabbed the bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates that he had bought on his way home from practice today. He looked at Danny’s name, scrawled out in his handwriting on both items. He hoped that Danny liked flowers. He knew he liked chocolate.
He headed downstairs and out the door. He knew the Nasty Burger wasn’t the fanciest place in town, but it was somewhere familiar and they both liked it.
As he was heading down the street, he could hear some commotion coming up.
Coincidentally it seemed to be following the same path as him. As he got closer he could finally see what it was.
Phantom was fighting that hunter ghost again. They were both flying back and forth around each other. Phantom landed a shot on the ghost and was growled at in response.
“I’ve got some place to be! Come back a different time!”
Phantom definitely seemed to be in a rush today. He was getting sloppy, trying to capture the ghost as soon as possible.
“Hey, Phantom!” Dash called, walking towards the commotion with a big smile on his face. Phantom was his hero. He loved him. He didn’t get many chances to talk to him. “Kick his ass, Phan-”
Dash stopped in the middle of the street, his voice dying in his throat. In front of him, Phantom stood shell shocked, a hole blasted through his chest by the hunter ghost. Dash could see the ghost through Phantom’s chest. He bellowed out a deep laugh.
As the other ghost started talking to Phantom, a pair of rings appeared around his waist. Dash had never seen this power before. He didn’t know what this would do.
Tumblr media
It split from his middle and separated, traveling around his body. Dash’s heart began to sink into his stomach when a familiar t-shirt appeared underneath the rings. Dash’s eyes widened and his heart stopped after the rings revealed a pair of blue jeans and a head of black hair.
Standing there in the middle of the street bleeding out was Danny Fenton.
Dash dropped the bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates he held in his hands.
The green ectoplasm that Phantom had been bleeding soaked into Danny’s shirt and steadily turned to red.
Dash could no longer hear the ghost that was still talking to Danny. His ears were ringing so loud he couldn’t make out anything happening in the street anymore. His chest was rising and falling quicker and quicker.
Danny finally fell down to the ground, landing on his knees and holding himself up with his hands. That was Dash’s breaking point.
The bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates fell out of his shaking hands and hit the ground. Balling his hands up into fists, he turned around and bolted down the street as fast as he could.
He had to get as far away as he could. He’s never seen anything like this before. He knew ghosts were dangerous, but he didn’t really think they were this dangerous. He didn’t know what they were really capable of. He was used to the idea of ghosts that he grew up watching on tv. The ones that couldn’t really interact with the living world. What could ghosts do if they weren’t even tangible?
But these ghosts were very tangible. They could interact with the living world and cause a lot of damage. Apparently Phantom couldn’t even stop them.
And Danny Phantom was Danny Fenton.
Dash skidded to a stop and looked back behind him, his chest heaving and out of breath from running.
What was he doing? He was running away from Danny, his friend. His hero. The boy he loved. What was he doing running away? Why didn’t he do something to help him?
Was there anything he could’ve really done?
Against his better judgment, Dash turned around and started running back the way he came.
Even if he couldn’t help Danny, maybe he could still tell him what he was going to tell him today. He needed him to hear it.
Dash turned around the corner onto the street where the fight was. But when he looked around, he didn’t see Danny or the ghost he was fighting.
His stomach rolled. That ghost must’ve gotten him. There wasn’t anything Dash could do. Nothing left for him to say.
He turned back around and slowly made his way home.
qqqqqqqqq
Dash trudged his way into school the next day. All he wanted to do last night after getting home was sleep what he had seen away. But he had a sleepless night instead.
He yawned as he pushed the front door open. As he cracked open an eye, he choked on the air he was breathing in as his gaze landed on somebody that was waiting by his locker.
Danny leaned against Dash’s locker. He was laughing at something that Sam and Tucker were saying. His bright and lively eyes opened and met Dash’s gaze.
How was he here? What happened? Was that not Danny? Did Phantom have some kind of shape shifting abilities? Did he imagine the whole thing?
Dash watched as Danny said something to Sam and Tucker and started walking towards him. Dash couldn’t move a muscle. His entire being was focused on the boy walking across the hall to him. The other students walking around him faded from his mind the closer Danny got.
“Hey.” Danny said when he made his way to Dash’s side.
All Dash managed to get out was a squeaking sound.
Danny looked around them and grabbed Dash by the arm. Danny pulled Dash behind him and soon they came to a janitor’s closet and he was dragged inside.
Once the door shut Danny turned the light on and all Dash could do was stare at Danny’s face. He was alive. His eyes shone, he breathed, and most importantly, he didn’t have a hole in his chest.
“What…” Dash started, but he found that he still didn’t have the words.
Danny pulled his backpack to the front and opened it. He pulled the crumpled flowers and chocolates that both had his name on it that Dash had dropped in the street the night before.
“I…” Danny started and then took a deep breath. “I’ve never told anyone besides Sam and Tucker about any of this before. But I found these in the street yesterday and I needed to check in with you.” He looked up at Dash. “How much did you see?”
Dash was still staring at Danny’s face but then it dropped down to his chest.
“I was about to call your name when the ghost shot you.” He tapped the spot on Danny’s chest where the hole had been. “I saw you detransform and ran.”
Danny squeezed his eyes shut. “Shit. That must’ve been pretty gruesome.”
Dash swallowed. “It was.” His gaze traveled back up to Danny’s face. “How are you here?”
“My ghost half gives me accelerated healing. It’s gotten stronger and stronger over the years. This is the worst thing I’ve ever had to come back from though.”
“But you’re still you? You’re not dead?”
Danny chuckled. “I might be sort of dead, but I’m not any more dead than I was two days ago.”
Dash took a deep breath and leaned forward resting his forehead on Danny’s shoulder. Dash didn’t realize he was shaking until Danny’s arms wrapped around his neck. His heart skipped a beat and he wrapped his own arms around Danny’s waist and took another deep breath.
“I thought you were dead yesterday.” He said softly. “I was on my way to the Nasty Burger when I saw the ghost fight. I was going to tell you… And then… I thought I’d never get a chance.”
“I’m sorry.” Danny whispered. “I wish you hadn’t seen that. When I saw the flowers and chocolates on the ground I thought you’d think I was some sort of freak. That maybe you didn’t stay because you thought I was a monster.”
Dash pulled away and shook his head. “No. I was scared out of my mind. I didn’t know what I was doing running away. I came back to tell you I loved you before you died but you had already disappeared.”
Danny’s eyes widened. “You still love me? Even seeing what I am?”
Dash nodded. “Of course I do. Phantom does so much for all of us everyday. How could I not?”
Danny smiled and pulled Dash into another hug. “Thanks. And for the record, I love you too.”
He pulled a card out of his backpack. “I was gonna give this to you yesterday too.”
Dash took the card. On the front was a picture of a red landscape. You’re like a martian sunrise. He opened the card and inside was a drawing of space with heart shaped stars.
Out of this world.
A tear slipped from his eye and Dash snorted out a small laugh.
“You dork.”
Danny turned and bumped his shoulder against Dash’s. “Yeah, but you love this dork. You said so yourself.”
“Yeah. I do.”
30 days of productivity ✨
it's not the beginning of the month, but i'm so excited for myself, i don't want to delay! 🤩 so i've arranged my activities into a 30-day productivity challenge that i can start right away! ☺️
while my resolutions are (and imo, need to be) ambitious, i know that my monthly/daily plans need to be reasonably made in the context of the fact that i still have many other responsibilities, otherwise i run the risk of never following through.
note to self 💌: differentiate between failing to follow through due to my own mismanagement versus something out of my control coming up. 할수있어요! (trans: you can do it!)
health goals 🥰
3 physiotherapy exercises twice daily
MWF (each for 1m): squats, glute bridge, leg lift
TTh: run (3-4 mins)
Saturday: arm workout (2-3 mins)
Sunday: rowing (3-4 mins)
Weekly physiotherapy appointment
language learning goals 🙊
Korean, Japanese, Chinese: 2 lessons daily each
Korean: Watch one video from this channel every other day (watch twice for retention)
Japanese: Watch one video from this channel weekly (watch/practice vocabulary once a day for review, their videos are content-heavy!)
Chinese: Watch Mandarin learning videos from this channel to inform self-study plan
other goals 🧠📚❤️
Be strict with myself when it comes to focus — if I lose focus, my Forest tree dies 🔪
Start setting a Forest timer for social activities OR put my phone in another room
Keep a list of interesting things I've learned/read that I want to share with others!
ahhh, i really am so excited to be on this new journey and to share it with you! daily updates coming soon 😘
Hobie Brown x Reader
-Did you know there is a universe where Mary Jane died because she slept with Peter?- I tried to say it quietly to Hobie.
-What the hell?- Miles said. Most people in the room looked at me like I was a fish with legs except Miguel. He got used to my strange texts.
-Why are you staring at me like celebrity children at paparazzi? Do you know how many documents I see here every day about strange deaths of Spider-men and girls? You don't know how to joke. - I said and sipped my coffee. I sat down at my desk.
I'm Reader Acker. I have no powers and I am not the mastermind behind the operation. I'm Miguel's secretary. And you will think. Why does Miguel need a secretary when he has Layla? All things, documents and morning coffee for Miguel are not just about technology. I had a shitty life without a job, so when I discovered that our dear hero needed a secretary who would keep the secrets of the multiverse and other boring things, I immediately agreed. And you will once again ask how such a great mind as me got into such a position. Others did not see my genius in sarcasm, shit talking and gossip, but for our Migueś it was enough that I would work here for a long time and that I did not want to open up to people.
My desk is so comfortable. Ahhh. If I stay sober for a few more days, maybe I'll get a raise. I will buy a new expansion pack for The Sims 4.
-Reader!- Miles ran to my desk.
-Hello, Miles. What do you want? Love advice or a book called 'How to cope with Uncle Ben's death'? - I asked, smiling.
-I need documents about my earth.- he said, shaking.
-Relax. And what number is it? - I asked, looking for documents in the locker.
-1610. Thank you for your help.- he said. I slowly handed him his documents and took them at the last second.
-Hahaha! I was just making fun of you! Do you seriously think I'll give you these important documents for any reason? Haha! - I laughed and he crossed his arms.
-Please, Reader. I need it! - he begged me.
-And I need Pedro Pascal in my bed. We both can't have what we want. - I said, raising my arms.
-I'll get you a date with Hobie. - Desperate Miles suggested it to me.
-Yeah! Now we're talking seriously! Tell Hobie that there's a horny, sexy chick with big bimbos sitting at my desk who was asking about him. - I said and gave him these documents.
-But that would be a bit untrue.- said Miles, holding the briefcase. I stood up and put my finger to his mouth.
-Shhhhhh. You have a briefcase, so I have a figurine of Hobie's ex-girlfriend. Only better. Now go tell the news! - I almost slapped him on the butt, pushing him to the door.
-It's illegal!- he said, walking to the door.
-And what happened when your mother did that to you? Exactly. You see, I'm not getting any younger. Poor old Reader wants to know what it's like to experience another tsunami of excitement! - I said.
-You're 19 years old, Miles commented.
-So, go grab your pacifier and tell Hobie that I'm waiting for him here. - I looked in the mirror.
-But should I tell him that this sexy girl with bimbos is waiting for him, or are you? Because, you know, they're completely different people. - Miles joked.
-You know what? It's obvious that you have some kind of ADHD if you can't handle such an easy task. Just tell him I'm waiting for him here. - I said, waving my hand.
-But you can call him here yourself.- he said.
-Miles. Tell me. What's the point of me taking the first step into something that doesn't have a bed scene in it? Exactly. And now I say goodbye! - I said and Miles ran out of my office.
Where is Hobie? It's already been 10 minutes and he can come here in 2 seconds. What if he doesn't think I'm interesting enough for him? Or maybe that damn Miles didn't tell him? I will kill and crush! Wait! My watch, I forgot about it.
-Reader! 5 minutes ago there was a call for all Spider-men and women to catch Miles! - said Layla as I turned on the watch and put it on my wrist.
-That's bad…- I commented.
-Miles somehow found the code from the machine and is now in another universe! And you are the only person who knows and has all these codes… - said Layla suspiciously.
-Oh shit.- I said. I took a rope from the ceiling with a 'people holder' (I don't know how to spell it) and attached myself to it.
-Reader what are you doing?- Layla asked.
-Layla I knew it would come one day so this is my little insurance policy against such an event. I'm going on vacation until Miguel calms down and stops thinking that his canon moment is to kill me.- I said. I jumped out the window and started climbing down the building, attached to a rope.
-I'm sorry, Reader. We've got your locatio-- before Layla could finish, I took off my watch and thrown it off.
-I'm sorry, Layla.- I said and started lowering myself on the rope.
Suddenly the rope stopped working.
-What is it?- I looked up. Oh fuck. Pissed off, Miguel started pulling the rope up with me without trying too hard.
-Oh shit.- I said to myself. I looked down. I saw a portal opening several meters below me.
I looked up at the angry Miguel who had the usual 'Don't even think about it' written in his eyes.
-Adios tio!- I shouted and unfastened myself from the rope. I landed in another universe, or rather in someone's arms. I opened my eyes and…
-Hobie!- I shouted with joy.
-I wouldn't leave you to your fate for this fascist.-
Sorry, I haven't checked it, so there may be some mistakes or something.
KPOP FIC RECS
So I recently (like a couple of months ago) read Bowie’s Books by John O’Connell which is a series of essays exploring David Bowie’s list of 100 Books that transformed his life and I thought it was a way to make my own. These are all fics (in some way or another) that have been memorable in many different ways and I hope to share them with you all.
This is also a full on sap train so I thought you should be ready. I’m also weirdly nervous since this feels kind of vulnerable and makes me shy. but haiii
PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE | PART FOUR | PART FIVE
Tumblr media
1. @timextoxhajima - HOSTIS | THE BOYZ (completed)
May as well get this one out of the way first. This story means a lot to me, for different reasons. This au is very fun and a very sultry enemies to lovers and I got carnal pleasure from this book. I love this story and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. BUT the most important reason I love this fic is that it lead me to one of my best friends who means a lot to me. I’m a successful fan if you think about it.  I also kind of cringed at writing this but it’s true (Dana it’s our sappy hour)
2. @bambisgirl - Confident | ENHYPEN (completed)
Ahh! You're still going by the time I’m writing this (you’re almost finished) but I loved seeing your updates. This fic was so so fun, I enjoyed it immensely. The way I could just see it playing out in front of me. It was amazing. I just can’t stop talking about how fun and just how joyful I felt whilst reading the fic. I’m telling you it had powers! Powers! When I was sick I would curl up with this fic and it made me feel really good, so thank you and I appreciate you.
3. @svtskneecaps - Play It Again | SEVENTEEN (completed)
I just re-read this recently! But I loved it. I love this concept so much! TMI but it reminds me of this old Nickelodeon version of Groundhog Day (The Last Summer?) I loved the way friendship is portrayed in here and I had a really good laugh. I also really loved the development of this fic - it was really fun. I always have a great time reading it.
4. @/ - ??? | BTS (completed)
I’m sorry, I remember reading this fic awhile ago and now I’ve forgotten the name of it. Ahhh. I’ve been looking for it these past couple of months to give proper credit but haven’t been successful. But it’s so amazing. It’s about a forced/contract marriage with Hoseok who doesn’t want to be married but has to learn how but he’s in love with another girl, Taehyung is an annoying cousin and Jungkook is a pool boy? (Help me find it please) But I loved the slow burn - the PACING of this story is to die for and I just love love love it. Okay but someone please tell me what the fic is before I cry. I can’t wait to find it again to reread it and get obsessed all over again.
5. @lunarlxve - Trees In Fall | ENHYPEN (ongoing)
Let me just tell you the amount of times I refresh the page every time you update and even when you’re just online. Like a dramatic reading~ it gives me hope, it gives me excitement, it makes me happy. Like I don’t know there’s just this level of enjoyment I can’t explain whenever I read Trees In Fall! I am diligently waiting for the next update! I’m obsessed.
6. @kinktae - Waterloo | BTS (one-shot)
Everytime I read this I just fall for it all over again. The romanticist sucker in me loves this story with my whole heart. The fact that it’s inspired by Mamma Mia 2? Man, I love those movies they were my comfort and my everything when I was growing up. I read this so early on when I came onto Tumblr and whenever I come back to it’s always some kind of refresher. Like home and adventure in one place :) So thank you, I appreciate you more than any of these words can portray.
7. @ateezmakemeweep - You’re The One That I Want | ATEEZ (completed)
I remember reading another one of your works and as soon as you released previews for this one I was already hooked. I think I even set alarms as well - to be completely honest and trust me, I am slightly embarrassed by it, but it was so good. It was something I could look forward to and it still is - even though it’s been some time since you finished it. Also the betrayal in this. Fucking hell he’s lucky that redemption arc came for him. Murder on my mind for real.
8. @justoneday-namjoonii - It Burns, Doesn’t It? | BTS (ongoing)
So quick expose storytime but on my old account I had written this massive observation (?) paragraph of every character in the fic and putting on my detective hat was so fun. I loved doing it. I’m very interested in these characters and what the fuck they think they’re doing. These characters have these flaws and these stories that are so compelling. The scary thing is the characters are so easy to hate but I find myself being very fond of them all the same. I never tire of them and I’m not sure I want to let them go when this fic is completed either.
9. @skyesins - Red Mercedes | EXO (completed)
Well first of all, it’s been so long since I read this but I still haven’t gotten over it. I think it got so bad that I couldn’t even stomach looking at * because of how he’s portrayed in this fic. Like I feel like I didn’t know pain until I read this. Perfect if you’re an angst lover. A little too perfect. I feel like I need compensation of some kind....which was stupid because I basically willingly put myself through that pain. Like I got so angry and then sad and then back and forth. So thank you for the perfect type of pain and the resetting of my standards. Read : am I masochist?... after reading this? probably.
10. @dayinseoul - Baby | BTS (completed)
I have a memory deeply ingrained in my head relating to this story and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever had in my life. It’s hard to explain but my new university hall was planning what I can only describe to people who are unfamiliar with Māori culture as a massive sleepover for orientation (for those who are familiar though - a noho) My flatmates at the time (the girls) and I were just starting to get to know each other and had joined me to read over my shoulder as well. So us three were all on one mattress and just reading the available chapters. I’ll forever remember that and be thankful of that :)
11. @starxblossom - Cherry Wine | NCT (completed)
It also won’t tag for some reason?!
Truly a story after my own heart. It’s a story I’ve been infatuated with since the first chapter and even though the last chapter as been completed for like three years now - it’s always at the back of my mind. Like if you think infatuation only exists between people you’d be wrong. I’m so incredibly fond of this story and I want everyone to read it so we can have long talks and have tipsy afternoons to this. It’s like music to me.
12. @nikihoon - Jealousy Jealousy | ENHYPEN (completed)
This story is so fun. So so fun. Like it was devious fun. I can’t describe it. I just physically couldn’t stop reading it. Truthfully I got in trouble with my mother for being ‘on my phone too much, what have you been reading anyway?’ whilst I was reading this. I’d also like to just mention Jungwon briefly but HE IS SO CUTE. I COULDN’T STOP LOOKING AT HIS PHOTOS ON PINTEREST WHILST I WAS READING THIS. Sorry I promise my favouritism is over - at least for now but ahh I just love it. A serotonin boost taking form in a story.
13. @escapewriter - Redamancy | SEVENTEEN (completed)
I’m in love with these characters. These boys bring chaos and healing wherever they go. I love Y/N. My standards are just raised but I can’t really explain what standards have been raised but I’m just here to say that they have. I just re read it again recently (like literally just now) and these characters have such a way of forming a little mould of themselves on your heart. In truth too I was contemplating which of your stories to add on here but it just clicked when I saw this.
14. @ddeonuism - My (Accidental) Demon Roommate | ENHYPEN (completed)
SUPER ENTERTAINING. I must say this story tested my loyalty so much and so often. It was on the interrogation table pleading and crying I’ll tell you that much. I remember just constantly looking for updates and being so happy each time. I was in a very angry phase (I don’t know what to call it) but this felt very healing and very calm in comparison to my moods. So thank you for that. Thank you for sharing and writing it.
15. @yutaholic - Smashing The Six | NCT (completed)
I’m writing this before my baby’s addition but it is so close to being completed. I’m really loving the story and the plot. I don’t want to spoil too much but I’m so glad I stumbled across your account and this story and binged the fuck out of it. I saw you updated recently and may have...accidentally decided to read it instead of paying attention to my meeting. Nobody noticed though so thank fuck but even I did get caught - I have zero regrets.
16. @biaswreckingfics - No Exit | EXO (completed)
Well first of all - hey, big fan! I watched you become a deobi through my other account and it was so satisfying to see. When I first got into No Exit - I can’t quite remember the chapter but I was practically hanging off every word you said. You always seemed to update when I was in the car going to university and I can remember just constantly refreshing the page again and again to make sure I didn’t miss it. Then when you uploaded a sequel - oh it was like love to me. So I’ll say it now - I love you, thank you :)
17. @moonscriptsx - Scandalous | BTS (ongoing)
Well first of all, I was so distraught when you got hacked and all your work got wiped away. I shed a tear. It was actually so heartbreaking. Scandalous was one of my favourite fics and was one that I binge read twice to enjoy it more than once. Then when I couldn’t find you one day - I went absolutely insane trying to find you. I FOUND YOU RECENTLY THOUGH! HENCE THE TAG! AHH! But I’m so happy you’re writing again and even though this fic no longer exists I’ll be enjoying your other fics regardless.
18. @wooyukh - Loved | TXT (completed)
When I tell you how much I fell in love with * during the time you were uploading this. Like the reality is that your fic was the music I fell in love to and I’m so glad for you. I loved this. Absolutely. I loved the simp that the both of them had and I loved everything. I loved LOVED and that’s the end of it. I hated one character in here with all my heart and I’m so glad about the ending. Ahhh it’s been so long - time for a re-read soon I think :) THANK YOU.
19. @neoculturetravesty - We Met In Online Class | NCT (completed)
OH MY GOD the writing quality is always MUAH (I’m in love with it - it’s so- I can’t explain it without letting out a sound that’s close to a moan, I’m sorry. But I love it. I love the tone of the story and the aesthetic I got from it. I don’t exactly have synesthesia but I got such a profound sense of feeling I can’t explain. It was like I was reading it but I could just see all these colours and feelings that I could just squeeze and it was just beautiful so thank you.
My newest obsession. Loved it from the very beginning. I’ve been going through some new sort of thirst for the man that is *. But I loved this - all throughout - it became some sort of remedy for the shit going in my personal life. Bearing through the pain of cliffhangers was worth it. I’m obsessed. Still am. * is my safe haven right now. So I’m glad for this story for strengthening (?), processing (?) emphasising (?) that.
do you have any random alien Stede facts you can share that won't be spoiler? I really like the au and want to know more.
Ahhh thank you so much!! 😍
I am THIS CLOSE to finishing up chapter 9, if I can get my brain to cooperate and get life to stop life-ing long enough to finally wrap things up. In the meantime, here are a few fun(?) alien!Stede facts from my notes and/or brain!
(The following facts pertain to my fic The Wondrous Journey of Stede Bonnet, Human Pirate Captain, a canon-adjacent OFMD AU which begs the question, "What if Stede Bonnet were secretly an alien the entire time?" It's mostly very funny, but also features a fair amount of identity crises and ruminating about the inherent complications of human relationships because overthinking things is my passion. 💀 If that sounds interesting to you, follow that link!)
While the being currently known as Stede Bonnet doesn't have a 'name' of his own, he DOES have a sort of unique intergalactic ID number for situations (like official documents) where more specific identification is important. His is ZX 00916424 SRG-8 (pronounced: 'Zed Ex Double-Oh Nine' with the rest as you'd expect it.) The only mention of this so far is in the title of a mini-podfic of alien!Stede's humble fuckery suggestion from chapter 7 that the talented just_a_perfect_day did for Halloween last year!
Much like the human Stede Bonnet, alien!Stede hated the parties on his own world. Granted, most of the 'parties' were more glad-handing celebrations of recent conquests or exciting new discoveries, which meant they were usually pretty shitty parties to begin with. But without fail, he'd always end up cornered by the most boring blowhard at the party who could simply NOT stop bragging to him about their role in the recent whatever-it-was-they-were-celebrating. (His friend always used to tell him that he was far too accommodating and that he should simply walk away from them if they're being boring, but he didn't want to come off as rude—or worse, insufficiently enthused about conquest.)
While there are no flowers on his homeworld, the geology of the planet results in some extremely cool rocks sometimes farther out from the city. On the rare occasions he got to go to leave the city, he DEFINITELY snuck home a favorite rock every time. He keeps his collection of cool rocks tucked away in the auxiliary wardrobe inside of a little metal box. Maybe one day he'll show them to Ed?
It was mentioned in chapter 4 that delivering the intimidating invader speeches was one of the only things he actually liked about his previous occupation and that he thought he was pretty good at them. This is, in fact, an understatement—he is actually so good at them that he's developed a bit of a reputation for it. (Not many others from his world bother to talk much at all during the invasion process, let alone deliver full-on villain speeches.) Unfortunately for him, no one has bothered to inform him of this, so he remains unaware that his 'intimidating invader speeches' are such a hot topic of conversation in certain intergalactic circles.
Alien!Stede's father is not actually his 'father' in the biological sense. Nearly all of the planet's young are bioengineered in labs in order to cherry pick the most optimal genetic traits for the role to which they are most likely to be assigned—based on current and projected levels of supply and demand—and then raised and educated communally until they're old enough to be assigned to their respective roles. His 'father' is more of a caregiver/mentor who was assigned to him once he was officially designated as Invader Class. (Have you read The Giver? With the whole 'coming of age job assignment' ceremony at the beginning? Kind of like that, except if Jonas actually went to live with The Giver afterwards.)
Like the rest of the people on his homeworld, alien!Stede in his natural form has three little curved indentions on either side of his head. When he's feeling especially strong emotions (happy, angry, etc.) little frilly ridges sprout up from each of the curves. Objectively, it's adorable—however, because most other beings in the universe usually only see this happen when his people are engaging in gruesome acts of violence, 'adorable' is not usually the first adjective that comes to mind when the little frilly ridges make their appearance.
Thank you so much for reading and for asking fun questions like these!! I hope these lil bits of trivia have been fun!! 💜💜💜
Fallen Pt. 1: Questions
Tumblr media
Authors note: Ahhh I’m so excited for this!! This is a alternate reality where the reader wakes up in the Star Wars universe!! I have been wanting to do this for a while, but I have not been the first. I would like to credit Eagleness and Talita01 on AO3 for the idea. If there is anyone else who has done the same, please let me know! This is also pre-Echo era, but he will appear later. Also please let me know if I should choose just a single batcher for the reader to be with or all of them!
Warnings: Blood, vomiting
Summary: One day I’m watching my favorite show in my college dorm room. The next morning I wake up in a hospital with no idea how I got there and two Jedi who are just as confused as myself.
Word count: 2458
Relationship: Undecided Batcher(s) x Female Reader
Part 2
As much as I loved bar hopping with my friends and drinking until I can’t tell the difference between left and right, I hate waking up the next morning with a hangover and a 2,000 word essay due for my college midterm.
“Come on, Sweetie.” My friend Corey moaned, her arm grasping my own with a vice like grip. “Just a few drinks and then we’ll take you home.”
I rolled my eyes. The last time they promised that, I got home after 4:00 am and missed two of my morning classes. Although it didn’t make much of a difference then, I couldn’t afford it this time. “No, I’m not going.”
“What a buzzkill.” One of Corey’s friends whispered to her obnoxious boyfriend. I never liked her and her long nails and her fried hair that she straightened far too often. Her voice sounded like metal scratching on metal and I had no idea how she managed to become friends with someone as nice as Corey. But maybe Corey was the desperate one.
“I’m sorry Corey.” I whispered. “I can’t go tonight, I have stuff due tomorrow.”
She frowned, but dropped my arm and shuffled over to her other friends. She looked back and forth between me and my dorm room's door. “A-are you sure?” She stuttered, her fingers lightly gripping the doorknob. They trembled.
“Corey-”
“Let’s go.” Her friend whined, coddling up to her boyfriend as if she would die if she stood there any longer. I don’t think he minded though seeing as he groped her in the ass. “This new bar opened up, right by that good Chinese place. I’m staaarving.”
“Yeah, come on Corey.” The boyfriend jumped in. “We’re wasting time sitting around here.”
“Leave her, girl.” The girl clicked her tongue impatiently. Sometimes I wonder how Corey got dragged into being friends with people like that. They’re nothing special, and even she doesn’t seem to like them. Maybe I’m delusional.
“Alright.” Corey nodded, giving me one last look before opening the door and leaving with her lackluster friends. I couldn’t help but notice the unshed tears pooling in her eyes.
I pulled out my phone quickly to send her a text, but my battery was dead. Stumbling through my dorm, I frantically searched for a charger. Under the bed, in the dresser, on my nightstand, even inside the mini fridge, but it was like it vanished.
“You’ve got to be shitting me.” I ran my hands through my hair. If I couldn’t find my cord, I wouldn’t be able to text Corey, and if her friends are as bad as they seem, they might leave her to find a way back to the dorms. What if she needed a ride? What if something happens? What if she just needs a friend to talk to?
I tapped my foot nervously before deciding that slumping down in my bed and pulling out my computer would be my best course of action. Maybe finishing my essay would distract me enough.
I scroll through what I had written, rereading paragraph after paragraph only to find that everything was finished and edited. All I would need to do was print the damn thing and submit it tomorrow morning. I could have gone out with Corey after all.
But it was too late to do anything about it now. My hands moved to open a new tab and click onto the familiar bookmark that I kept close to my heart. The website started up and I eagerly opened my favorite pastime of my college years. The Bad Batch.
I had watched the infamous Star Wars saga when I was young, usually with a bowl of popcorn and my favorite drink to go with. My father watched the first ever movie when he was just a child in 1977 and after he had kids of his own, he wanted them to experience the same joy he had felt. It stuck with me and I continued to watch any show related to it since.
But the Bad Batch was something I had gotten into a little later than everyone else. Both seasons were released when I started watching it and after several long months, today was the day I was going to finish it. It would have been exciting if I didn’t already know what happened. Spoilers still reached my ears no matter how hard I tried to ignore it.
“Plan 99.” Tech said through the screen, my own lips quoting every word. I watched him fall to his death and despite knowing he was going to die, I still felt sad. But I did not cry, I hardly ever cried when I was sad and this certainly was not an exception. And maybe a part of that was influenced because Tech’s death just didn’t feel solid. It felt fake. It didn’t feel as real as when Echo “died” or when Gregor “died.” Something was missing from the equation.
My eyes started to droop by the time I finished the final episode. I checked the clock to see it was past 12:00. Corey wasn’t home, she wouldn’t be at this time. I tried to stay up to wait for her, to make sure she came back all in one piece. But the draw of sleep was just too hard to resist. I fell into a fitful rest.
***************
I did not share a room with anyone, so when I drifted awake, I laid rigidly when I heard several voices just outside the door. Several male voices though they sounded strangely familiar.
When I opened my eyes, I became even more confused. This was not my room. Bright lights were shining on me as if I was some test subject. There were medical monitors and white walls and the stale smell of medicine and disinfectant.
A hospital. I was in a hospital.
I sat up and took in my surroundings even more. I wore a medical gown, there were no handles on the doors, the male voices outside were still there, a… droid was sifting through a drawer on the opposite side of the room?
My breath caught in my throat. A part of me knew that I was not in any danger, but seeing a hunk of metal the size of a grown man, pulling out needles and bottles out of a drawer did nothing to calm my nerves. I certainly did not feel any better when he? It? Turned to me and started speaking in a language I did not know.
“Wait!” I jumped out of the cot when it tried to grab me by the arm. I stumbled back into some of the equipment, glass and metal and wires crashing into the floor with me. The droid skittered around still speaking gibberish as if it became flustered and confused.
I whipped my head around when the door slid open. I audibly gasped when none other than Mace Windu and Obi Wan Kenobi stepped through the door, their lightsabers in their hands like second nature, ready for use.
They were on alert until they saw me on the floor. They sheathed their sabers and gave each other a look I couldn’t read.
Windu went to calm down the droid while Obi Wan headed over to me. He was speaking to me, saying words I’m sure anyone else could understand. I stared at him blankly and suddenly he stopped, turned, said a few words to Windu, and then pulled me up by the shoulder and placed me back on the cot. He then ushered the droid out of the room leaving Windu and I alone.
I could feel pain in my shoulder, and I reached back with my hand to find out why. It came back bloody. I shivered before rushing over to the sink at the other end of the room and vomited. I felt a warm hand on my back and mumbled words which I knew were words or reassurance. But I still couldn’t understand anything.
Windu started to dress my wound, though it was done rather poorly. He said nothing more to me, and it gave me a moment to think.
I’ve seen stuff similar to this in movies and T.V shows.Young boys traveling to the past, superheroes ending up in alternate universes, people using telephone booths as a time machine, I’ve even had dreams about similar concepts. But this certainly didn’t feel like a dream. I never had a dream that felt so real, I never felt pain in a dream, never felt the coolness of air filtering in through a vent, never smelt the stale disinfectant smell of hospitals. Could this reality be real?
Windu finished right in time for Obi Wan to return, a datapad in hand. They both chatted to each other quietly, Obi Wan waving the device in the air. Windu nodded and then left the room.
I watched Obi Wan hesitantly. He was one of my favorite characters, but I don’t throw my trust around blindly. And knowing him, I’m sure he doesn’t trust me either.
He approached me and pushed the data pad close to my mouth. He pointed a finger at his lips, said a few words, and then pointed to the data pad. It picked up his words, printing them onto the screen and displaying them in a language that I had seen written on billboards in the show but never took the time to understand.
I opened my mouth to speak and said the first thing that came to mind. “I need to fucking pee.”
It took a moment for the scanner to pick up what I said, but eventually words started to form on the screen. Obi Wan turned it around, looked at it and then laughed. His eyes glittered while he tinkered with the device and then he spoke a few more words into it and handed it over to me.
How badly? It read.
I gave him a knowing look and he laughed again and gestured towards the door. I felt a bit vulnerable in just my gown, but I followed him anyway. We weren’t on Kamino, I knew that much. Maybe Coruscant? There weren't any windows in the medical facility I was put in. The walls were white and medical droids and other patients walked the hallways, but there wasn’t a clone in sight. It must be a local hospital.
Obi Wan was speaking to me as best as he could through the datapad. Simple questions like my name and age and how I ended up passed out in front of the Jedi Temple. That was something I could not answer. I kept quiet for the most part about where I was from or what I was doing before now. If it was true that I fell through into another universe, I don’t think it would be smart to tell a Jedi Master that.
The bathrooms are just up ahead. He said and I thanked him.
Eventually he took me outside the facility, and I got a view of what was the bustling city planet known as Coruscant. Speeders and ships flew through the air, hundreds of people and aliens alike walked the streets as if today was just any other day. For them it was a normal day. For me, it might have been my worst nightmare.
We walked to the Jedi Temple, the sheer size intimidating. I started to think that they might use some Jedi mind tricks on me, break down any sanity I had just to find the truth. And then another part of me thought that they had no idea and really I was just some random girl who showed up on their doorstep. But what worried me the most was if they thought I was some Separatist spy. Thinking that made me question which was worse. Psychological torture or physical torture.
But all of my worries vanished once we were inside. It was like everything suddenly got brighter, happier, and more peaceful. It was like a breath of fresh air, and suddenly I was calm. Jedis clad in long robes of brown and white and gray walked casually about, their footsteps eerily quiet. It smelt like honeysuckle and tea. Old. It smelt really old.
Kenobi spoke again. I glanced at the datapad in my hands. You’ve calmed. I nodded and he continued to talk. You weren’t before. I could sense your unease, but I could also sense that you are familiar with me and Master Windu. Isn’t that right?
I didn’t answer. He wasn’t wrong, I knew him a hell of a lot more than he might think. Windu more or less.
“Why are we here?” I asked as if I was clueless.
To talk. He said no more.
It was intimidating to be in front of some of the strongest Jedis in the Star Wars universe. They all eyed me like I was something to be feared, something to be watched and kept on a five foot long leash. And I felt vulnerable and scared, my shoulders still boring that sickly smelling hospital gown.
Each had their own datapad, all except for Master Yoda. They asked questions, simple at first, almost the same things Obi Wan had asked me earlier, and then they started asking me things that required more complicated answers. Sometimes I would only give half answers, sometimes I would give no answers at all. But I would not lie. It would be pointless if I did.
They came to a verdict at the end of it all. I would be assigned a clone force, I wasn’t told which, but I had my suspicions. I would be watched, listened to, examined and picked apart at.
“Honest, you have not.” Yoda told me. Those were the first words I heard in a language I actually knew. “Find out, we will.”
I was put in a nice room in the Jedi Temple, but it lacked the warmth of a well lived home. Everything was white, the sun shined in, bouncing off the walls and encompassing my room in this bright glow. I hated it. The bed was comfortable, but it didn’t compare to my room back at the college. There were nice clothes in the closet. I could tell they were put there just this day. It reminded me of what Senator Amidala was so often seen wearing in the show. I would hardly compare even if I dressed in the fine and flowy silks.
I’d fallen asleep feeling exhausted emotionally. But deep down, somewhere in that small part of me that was actually excited to be here, I wished that whoever I was put with, I hoped it was the rowdy bunch known as The Bad Batch.
overcaffeinated anon here with her longass opinion piece on mini me, mini you🙋🏻‍♀️
so because I feel like it's been so long since I started it and I want to get all the feelings back I will be rereading it and adding my thought onto every part
Part 1: Lando saying 'get off your phone or I'll send you back home' -bestie the foreshadowing 😐 part 2: when y/n is telling her bff 'that's the man you're marrying next year..' - her bestie really wants them to break up 🫠 Lando saying 'you piss me off when you say that, stop thinking the boys are more important than you, they're not' -> hun if you leave four days early when you're having a hard time with your girlfriend, she will think that part 3: ahhhh the good old miscommunication trope mixed with the bestie not knowing when to stick to her best friend. rereading the text messages between yn and her bestie actually hurts (but hun you hit every note to make it angsty) bestie saying 'I asked you bcs I knew I wasn't gonna hear the truth from yn what kind of answer is this' actually is maddening Charles is flirting with her but girlie is staying respectful (I'm kinda split on how I want this to end sooooo excited to read both parts) part 4: bestie being a snitch (truly sick because I could never do that to my best friend- that girl is my sister) Lando and yn's text convo was truly heartwarming aaaaand Charles and yn talking about kids made me tear up a bit and her then posting him AND LANDO TELLING HER TO SHUT UP LIKE YES TELL HER OFF MAN part 5: the fact that they got a dog is kind of cute and solves her feeling lonely when Lando is away, but it isn't a bandaid to the whole baby-situation the only way I'd say 'a thing or two' to my bestie is like this 'bestie I love you and I may be overstepping but I feel like if I don't say this I'm disrespecting our friendship….' part 6: ahhh the england thing aaaaand he threw her out - ouch but I kind of understand where he is coming from part 7: ahhh the break up aaaaand Charles being nervous is cute part 8: (i think this is where I stopped and now everything is new to me) ahhhhh Landoooo you can't say that - hindsight is 20/20 and the bestie coming through at the end
Part 9- Lando's part: AHHHHHH I DON'T THINK I CAN CHOOSE HIM OVER YOU I AM SCREAMING THIS IS SO CUTE AHHH SHE IS PREGNANT THIS IS SO CUTE I AM TEARING UP 😭😍😍
Part 9- Charles' part: awwww Joris is mad as well 😂 I love Charles the pregnancy tests 😭 but CHARLES IS SO CUTE FOR BEING SO INSISTENT ON GOING TO THE DOCTOR WITH HER AND LANDO CONGRATULATING THEM AND THEY ARE HAVING A BABYGIRL 😍😍😍
Applause to you for coming up with that story it's so good and you did really well with all the angst, and fluff and the potential love triangle 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ugh thank you for this, this made my night 😭 also;
Lando saying 'get off your phone or I'll send you back home' -bestie the foreshadowing 😐
bestie, you don't know how surprised I am by my own foreshadowing because I am in fact never foreshadowing anything considering I never know what's happening next, I barely even know what happened in the first part when I got to chapter 3 so.. 😭
'I don't think I can choose him over you' will forever be my favorite line in this story along with the "I'm freezing my tits off" "please don't, I love those two." Conversation between the gremlins 🥰
Thanks again for this, you're the best! <3
Hey! Can I ask for a scenario where Yami is on a mission with Fuego, Nozel and Willian in Hino country to retrieve a powerfull magical artifact and in the middle of the mission they save F!reader, a geisha with an incomparable beauty who was being pursued by some vassals of a cruel feudal lord who claims to love her, but it's a yandere obsession because of a one-sided love. Plot Twist: This beautiful geisha is Yami's younger sister and results in an emotional family reunion between them.
Hello lovely bby! Thank you for this creative request! AHHH our first geisha related request! I'll do my best ♡( ◡‿◡ )
Fuegoleon, Nozel, William, Yami & f! geisha! reader
Yami was beyond excited to be back in his hometown. It has been over 20 years since he last stepped foot here and everything is different now.
The place he used to call home seems like a foreign place to him. The port, the boats, the shops... They were no longer how he remembered them to be. The only thing that told him that he was back in his hometown was the Hino flag waving high above the beach tower.
He traced his way back home, the routes all unfamiliar after 20 years that it took them 2 days to get to his hometown which was also just by the seashores they came from.
His house... was empty. The neighbours said it had been empty since the old couple died. Yes, Yami parents had passed on and his siblings have moved out one by one. He had no idea where their graves were.
He took comfort in being able to even step foot back to this land again; never in his wildest dream did he think that he would be able to come back here, so he told himself to be grateful for this.
"They would be happy to know that you're back," William put a reassuring hand on his friend's humongous back.
"They would have welcomed all of you with open arms," Yami chuckled a little while reminiscing his parents, "the folks loved a good company."
The four of them stayed for the night and carried on their mission the next day.
----
It was a difficult mission especially since they were in a foreign land, but thanks to Yami who could still speak his native language, they managed to get clues and directions here and there.
The 4 men found themselves in the famous red light district of Hino.
"You're sure they said the artefact we're looking for is here?" Nozel threw a judging look at Yami.
"Yeah, that's what the old lady said, braidy." Yami taunted at the fellow captain.
"Well, let's just have a look around, shall we?" Fuegoleon politely rejected a hostess that was making her advances on him.
After walking down a few streets and turning down countless of ladies, (well it was a rare sight to see 4 handsome and charismatic men walking down the red light district) the captains were about to call it quits when they heard a scream and the sound of smashing glasses.
"Let me go!" a lady was being grabbed by the wrist by a huge man who was tall and muscular, his face was full of malice towards the beautiful young lady. He even had a few underlings with him.
"It's an order by Lord Kaho." the pursuer was relentless and wouldn't budge despite hurting the poor girl.
"I believe that's not the way for a man to treat a girl," Fuegoleon had a hand on the man shoulder.
"Do you not feel shame for hurting someone that's weaker than you?" Nozel was on his other shoulder.
The two royals had no idea what the lady and the man were talking about, but it was clear the lady did not want to go with the man.
"They said to let her go." Yami spoke to the man in Hino language.
"Who are you, this is an order by Lord Kaho, to make her his bride!" the man shrugged their hands away and dragged the girl so hard that she fell.
In the blink of an eye, the man and his underlings were beaten up by the captains and they scurried away, spewing a thread of incoherent words.
"oi, you ok?" Yami extended his hand to the lady.
"Yes, I am, thank you.." You spoke with simple english, surprising the four men. You were suddenly thankful that you learnt a little from some of those foreign customers that came by your workplace, as you took the big guy's hand to get up from the ground.
-------
The captains decided to walk you safely home, despite you telling them that you were fine. You explained to them that you were a Geisha that some feudal lord took a liking to and forced you to marry him, causing a ruckus at your work place.
You ran away to hiding but he sent his men to find you. You had no idea what to do since you could no longer work because of all the problems he's caused but you didn't like this Lord Kaho and didn't want to marry him.
"Actually we're here because of the rumours that there is a magical artefact hidden here. While you could help us find it, we could protect you from this evil lord and we promise to help you find a way to leave this place." William suggested after listening to your pitiful plight.
"I did think of leaving as a last resort, but this is where I grew up, and I lost my brother at a young age, if I leave, my brother would not be able to find me if he comes back.. He's the only family I have left."
"We promise to help you, so you could stay in your rightful homeland." Fuegoleon smiled at the lady before him, her beauty was dazzling, but she resembled someone he couldn't quite put a finger on..
"We haven't got your name, by the way." Nozel nodded at the alluring lady before him, "I'm Nozel and they are William, Fuegoleon and Yami."
"Ah, Yami, you have the same name as my brother." you smiled at Yami elegantly.
The four man paused in silence as the 3 of them stared at Yami, who stopped in his tracks, eyes widened at the lady before him.
"And your name is...?" he spoke softly, his tone was eager yet afraid.
It couldn't be. He thought to himself. What are the odds? Why didn't he think of it? Her familiar ki, her face, she resembled..
"Y/n,"
Yami's lips parted but no words came out. It was impossible. He was never lucky in his life. His life was just full of a series of unfortunate events and-
"Y/n Sukehiro."
Fuego, Nozel and William knew immediately that she was actually Yami's sister. Their minds were blown; Yami had been searching for his family only for her to be right in front of them all along!
They turned to Yami, whose face was wearing such a wide smile, but his eyes were clouded with tears. He was so stupefied that his brain malfunctioned for a moment, unable to process the happiness that he was feeling; the happiness of finding your loved one after 20 years of being apart, not knowing how they were, whether they were dead or alive, just holding on to that thin thread of hope, hoping that you would meet again someday.
Yami felt like his legs were not going to take his weight, his tongue was already unable to speak but his arms acted on their own, reaching out and pulling the girl in front of him into an embrace.
"A-are you okay, Yami?" you squeaked at you felt like the air was being squeezed out of your chest from his huge biceps.
"Miss Sukehiro," William smiled with such a warm and joyful smile, "His name is Yami Sukehiro, he's from Hino too."
Your reaction was the exact same as your brother. Silent with widened eyes, mouth agape as you felt your nose sour and your vision clouded with tears.
You started sobbing as the landslide of emotions crashed upon you. The dam of 20 years was broken; your tears couldn't stop flowing and your chest felt so tight. You grabbed onto the back of his shirt pulling his as close to you as ever possible.
------
After what seemed like an eternity, you both finally pulled back and had a good look at each other.
"how have you been, Y/n?" your brother's eyes were red, "I heard about mom and dad from the neighbours.. what happened?"
Yami felt the grieve that he had been burying deep in his chest rising to the surface again.
You took a deep breath and exhaled, knowing that you both had so much to talk about, "Why not we head to my place and we can talk over dinner?"
You both looked towards the other 3 gentlemen, waiting for their response.
"We're actually here to find an artefact..." Nozel spoke up.
"Yeah he's the party pooper," Yami shrugged, "But he's not wrong, I am here for work.."
"But I'm sure the king would understand.." William nodded, "let us call him and report on this and maybe Yami would take an off from the mission to catch up with his family. Afterall he's lost her for 20 over years.."
"I have to agree on this one," Fuegoleon said, "anyway it's getting dark and we need a place to stay. Let the siblings catch up and we will continue our search tomorrow. We could use an extra help anyway and y/n is local so she would be helpful."
----
Over dinner, the other 3 captains helped themselves to the food while you and Yami caught up with each other. He told you how he was swept away to Clover Kingdom and was part of their army called Magic Knights, his team was called the Black Bulls....
You told him about how mom and dad passed and how your siblings moved out in pursue of their jobs and careers or family and lost contact after the great war of Hino.
You didn't want to leave because you thought there should be someone left behind to clean your parents grave and also if there was a chance that Yami would return.
You really thanked the heavens that you did; you were eternally grateful that you could be reunited and at least know that your brother was well and alive. You couldn't wait to bring him to see your parents and tell them of the good news. They would be smiling from up in the heavens.
As you both stared at the night sky above your heads, you told your brother: "the number of times I stared into the dark night sky, hoping you were somewhere out there and looking at the same sky as me... tell me this isn't all just a dream.."
His huge arm wrapped around your shoulders, "it's not. And now that I'm here, I'll be sure to protect you from anyone that tries to bully you. I can't wait to punch that Kaho dude in the face..."
You both laughed. Those lonely and quiet nights would now be lively and filled with warmth forever.
-end-
Note: Ahhh, it’s so nice to see a fan club video from Wakana after such a long time. And I LOVE that we are getting some behind the scenes footage of the album production. That studio looked amazing. However, it seems like the production isn’t as far ahead as I had hoped. The mastering that took place the other day wasn’t actually for the album itself but for something else. This is what Wakana is referring to in the little snippet I am posting here (towards the end of the video). She says that she is allowed to reveal a tiny bit of information. Apparently the album will come with a special kind of tokuten (benefit/bonus content). She can’t say too much but it will be video & audio which is why they had to do some mastering. She is super excited for everyone to see it. Pretty sure this is footage from her Christmas Live. I mean, what else would it be.
Ok Criminal Minds anon here... it's been a while (I've gotten into and out of CM in the last year bur I've continued watching and there's a few developments in the show that I'm curious about lmao)
1) how are you doing, it's been a while since I've visited your profile and I've missed it lol (I saw your Loki OC and am now considering watching the show so that I can understand stuff)
2) Spencer Reid is baby and I love him more than anything now
3) What was Amelia's relationship with Elle like? How did she react to the circumstances leading to her leaving the BAU??
4) I love the episode where that kid comes up to Spencer about the investigation of those murders in DC (I think the episode is called Sex Birth Death?)- how would Amelia fit into that, it's a very Spencer heavy episode- will it lead to any developments in their friendship/relationship?
5) Spencer is so cute with his "Physics magic"!! Does he regularly show off this stuff to Amelia like he was showing Penelope and JJ??
6) Emily Prentiss is amazing and i love her and I'm so happy to see that Amelia and her seem to be like besties
7) I saw the edit you made for the barn story with Amelia... very interesting and I'm honestly a lil scared for her lmao. Anything you can tell me about it???
Anyway, this is long enough of an ask, I'm watching s2 of CM rn and I might end up popping in and out of your inbox at random times about the show, if that's OK:)
Anyway, have a nice day!!
welcome back!!! i've missed you!
1) how are you doing, it's been a while since I've visited your profile and I've missed it lol (I saw your Loki OC and am now considering watching the show so that I can understand stuff)
I’ve been busy! Super stressed ngl, and probably will be until next year lol. Ahhh, i’m so glad you like Freya! Honestly the show could do with some improvements lol, but bot fic will fix those💅🏼
2) Spencer Reid is baby and I love him more than anything now
He’s actually MY baby🤚🏻
3) What was Amelia's relationship with Elle like? How did she react to the circumstances leading to her leaving the BAU??
Okay idk how far into RITA you are, but their relationship is good! They’re definitely colleagues nor friends, but they care for eachother, if she’d stuck around they’d be besties. Amelia is STRESSED when she leaves, she hates change.
4) I love the episode where that kid comes up to Spencer about the investigation of those murders in DC (I think the episode is called Sex Birth Death?)- how would Amelia fit into that, it's a very Spencer heavy episode- will it lead to any developments in their friendship/relationship?
ooooo I haven’t watched that ep in SO LONG, but I actually didn’t write it for Amelia, so uh yeah, no developments.
5) Spencer is so cute with his "Physics magic"!! Does he regularly show off this stuff to Amelia like he was showing Penelope and JJ??
Yes!!!! Amelia finds it so cool. theres a scene in RITA dint worry
6) Emily Prentiss is amazing and i love her and I'm so happy to see that Amelia and her seem to be like besties
Emily is an icon. I adore her.
7) I saw the edit you made for the barn story with Amelia... very interesting and I'm honestly a lil scared for her lmao. Anything you can tell me about it???
Ooo, see I mainly made that as an AU, but like it’s something i’m definitely thinking about adding into the fic, it’s pretty similar to Spence’s barn story to lol…
Anyway, this is long enough of an ask, I'm watching s2 of CM rn and I might end up popping in and out of your inbox at random times about the show, if that's OK:)
Anyway, have a nice day!
Please do keep popping in I love it!!! Really excited to see how you feel about certain things and how I then make them fit around Lia in RITA
Thoughts on Jedi Apprentice 11: The Deadly Hunter
This one! THIS ONE!!!!! 8D I am so excited for this arc of the story! The Hidden Truth will probably always be my favorite, but after all the epic Xanatos stuff, these next three books are the best part of this series, in my opinion. Definitely some of the stuff that's stuck with me the most, even after all these years.
Let's dive in!
Chapter 2
We begin with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan landing on Coruscant after a series of missions. (Note that Obi-Wan is now fourteen. Since I'm pretty sure he was thirteen in the last book, and there was no mention of a birthday, and because they hitched a ride instead of using the ship King Frane gave them, I think we're supposed to understand that they've had other adventures in between.) Instead of going straight back to the Temple, Qui-Gon wants to stop by a cafe run by a friend of his.
The friend is Didi Oddo, who runs a tiny little hole-in-the-wall cafe that's seen better days. He's the kind of guy that seems to be friends with everybody, whether they're an upstanding citizen or a shady individual, and he doesn't hesitate to let those who are going through hard times eat for free, nor does he hesitate to coax more money out of those who are doing well. I'm not entirely sure why, because his description is just that he's a "small, round man with a melancholy face," but I always imagined him as a Little Person (though not his daughter, Astri). Couldn't tell you why, but my brain persists in imagining him that way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Regardless, I like him. He's a bit dramatic, especially when insisting how innocent he is despite being surrounded by criminals on all sides XD
But we're not just in for an ordinary friendly reunion. After a bit of small talk, Didi takes them into his office in the back, to beg Qui-Gon for help. A bounty hunter seems to be after him, and he has no idea why. He serves plenty of criminals, but he insists he isn't one himself (though he seems to be toeing the line a little bit, since he sometimes gambles and buys things on the black market :P). So he wants the Jedi to go find the bounty hunter and convince her that there's some kind of mistake. Qui-Gon agrees, though Obi-Wan doesn't think it's a good idea. It doesn't seem like any of their business.
"'Here is a man who seeks out criminals and the dregs of the galaxy in order to get information, which he then sells to the highest bidder. If you live in that sort of world, you deserve whatever bad luck comes your way. ... I don't understand why you're helping him,' Obi-Wan said, frustrated. Qui-Gon hesitated. Then he said, 'It's because he is my friend.'" - And here, once again, we see the interaction of a Gryffindor and a Slytherin ^_^
Chapter 3
"'This place doesn't look as if it provides a soft landing to me,' Obi-Wan observed, casting a dubious eye at the Soft Landings Inn. 'More like a full-scale crash.'" - Ahhh, this book is already off to a good start XD
The Jedi go to the inn where the bounty hunter is supposed to be staying. As Obi-Wan commented above, it's not exactly an upscale place :P Anyway, they locate the bounty hunter's room, and walk in to find her sitting there silently. She's a humanoid with a shaved head, and she has a whip that Didi told them about. They try talking to her, explaining that there must have been some kind of mistake, but she doesn't say a word. Instead, she suddenly attacks them with her whip, choking Obi-Wan and tripping him up, and cutting open Qui-Gon's shoulder. Besides just being a normal whip, it also has a laser mode. While they're still reacting to the sudden attack, she slips through the narrow opening of the window, her bones compressing so she can fit through the gap. Qui-Gon says this means she comes from the planet Sorrus.
Chapter 4
The Jedi return to the cafe and tell Didi what happened. After getting his wound patched up, Qui-Gon grills Didi to see why someone would send a bounty hunter after him. Obi-Wan suggests that instead of some sort of official warrant being issued, which would be unlikely for a simple cafe owner, maybe it was a private commission because of some piece of information sold to Didi that someone doesn't want to get out. Didi can't think of anything in particular, just a senator resigning and a gang called the Tech Raiders moving their headquarters. Neither seem like big enough pieces of information to kill someone over.
In the middle of the discussion, Didi's daughter Astri bustles in. She's kind of clumsy and preoccupied, and complains about how Didi complains every time she tries to do something to improve the cafe, particularly in terms of their sketchy clientele. In particular, she's proud of getting a famous philanthropic scientist, Jenna Zan Arbor, to book their cafe for a medical conference. (This will be very important later!) I like Astri. She makes for a fun dynamic with Didi as they banter back and forth. I keep on wanting to call her Astrid, though I don't remember ever having that problem when reading these books before....
This moment gave me a chuckle: Qui-Gon: "Besides, it will give you a chance to see the seamier side of Coruscant." Obi-Wan: "Just what I always wanted."
Chapter 5
The first step is to track down Fligh, the informant who sold Didi those pieces of information. I like Fligh; he's fun in a scoundrelly-but-mostly-harmless way. He's also a total coward and pushover who is easily convinced to talk because he's intimidated by the Jedi and because Didi has been kind to him in the past.
Fligh: "How else does one survive on Coruscant?" Qui-Gon: "One could get a job." Fligh: "One could, if one were a different being. However, one is not."
Ultimately, they don't learn anything that seems particularly significant from Fligh. He heard about the Tech Raiders from their representative on Coruscant, and he learned about the senator resigning from an official memo that made it to his hands.
They stop by the office of Senator Uta S'orn, the one who is resigning, and let her know that her resignation has leaked. She seems genuinely surprised and distressed by this news, because of how it might affect support for some legislation she's going to introduce. It seems unlikely that she would have put a price on Didi's head, and even though now they've learned that Fligh must have stolen her data pad, since she lost it and that's where her announcement was saved, that doesn't necessarily mean much. Fligh could have just not wanted to admit to stealing something like that directly to the Jedi's faces.
Chapter 6
The Jedi track down Helb, the Tech Raiders' representative, in a bar. But it seems like a dead end, because Helb intentionally told Fligh about their new location so that word would get out and people could find them, like free advertising under the radar. Fligh owes the Tech Raiders a lot of money, but they have no reason to want to kill Didi.
As they're leaving the bar, Obi-Wan spots the bounty hunter again, watching them and wearing a disguise that makes her look like an old man. Unfortunately, she gets away before they can catch her.
Chapter 8
When they return to Didi's cafe to update him, they find Astri bustling about in a near-panic, preparing for the important meal for Jenna Zan Arbor. The Jedi go to talk to Didi as the guests begin to arrive...only to hear that Fligh has been killed.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go to investigate Fligh's murder, telling Didi to stay in the cafe where it's safe. They don't learn much at the scene of the crime about who did it, but they do pick up on an intriguing clue: Fligh has been strangled with some kind of cord, and all of the blood has been drained from his body before it was dumped in an alley.
(Side note: I just remembered that this precise scene was when I learned the word pallor. Don't let anyone tell you Star Wars isn't educational! XD)
"'Do you ever get used to death?' Obi-Wan asked. 'No,' Qui-Gon said. 'That is how it should be.'" - It can be easy to forget just how young Obi-Wan is in these books, because of how much more competent he is than your average fourteen-year-old, but Qui-Gon doesn't. He has Obi-Wan stand back so he won't see the gruesome sight of Fligh's body, and he checks to make sure Obi-Wan's okay afterward. I love that, even though he's seen so much by this point, Obi-Wan is still affected by death, and Qui-Gon protects him from the trauma of it as much as possible.
Chapter 9
When the Jedi return to Didi's cafe, they find it suspiciously dark and quiet. Warily, they go in to find that all the guests are gone, and there's a mess in the kitchen and Didi's office, like someone ransacked the place looking for something. They rush upstairs to the living quarters, only to find the bounty hunter waiting for them there, having knocked Astri out and tied up Didi with her whip. After a short fight, the bounty hunter escapes yet again. Qui-Gon recommends that they leave Coruscant and go into hiding, and Didi decides to go to a house he owns in the mountains on a nearby planet. He's never been there before, because he just recently won it in a game of sabacc, but it's so remote it should be relatively safe.
The chapter is fairly ominous and action-oriented, but this moment of banter was fun: Didi: "I might--ah--have gotten myself in a tiny spot of trouble. Nothing serious." Astri: "Sure. This isn't serious. Just another ordinary evening in the cafe. I get knocked out on a regular basis."
Chapter 11
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan finally go to the Temple. Obi-Wan, poor kid, finally gets something to eat while Qui-Gon meets with Yoda and Tahl to update them on the situation. When she hears about the manner of Fligh's death and that he stole Senator S'orn's data pad, Tahl connects it to Senator S'orn's son Ren (what a choice of name!), who was Force-sensitive. But Senator S'orn didn't want to give Ren up to the Temple, so he was never trained and eventually wandered off to find himself. Six months ago, he was killed--by strangulation, and his blood was drained!
I really like this bit that Qui-Gon says to Obi-Wan: "You are too hard on yourself, Padawan. That can become a fault if you are not careful, for anger at oneself is a destructive thing. Every living being can be impatient, can turn away at a first glance, can avoid getting involved. It is a natural impulse. We are all creatures who want peace and comfort. Yet we are Jedi. Our own peace and comfort is not what drives us. We are dedicated to a larger good. But always remember that the peace and comfort of just one being is what drives us, too."
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go to see Senator S'orn again. She admits that the reason she's resigning is her preoccupation and grief since her son died. She also mentions that her friend's data pad was stolen at the same time, when Fligh overheard them talking about trying to find a good cafe to host a meal and recommended Didi's cafe. And guess who that friend was? Jenna Zan Arbor!
Chapter 13
Obviously the next thread to follow is to talk to Jenna Zan Arbor. They go to her room in a luxurious hotel and investigate her possible connections to what's going on. She didn't report the theft of her data pad because she had backups of everything on it, and it wasn't sensitive personal information like what was on Senator S'orn's. They find out from her that the legislation the senator hasn't been able to push through because of her premature resignation had to do with creating a coalition against a black market tech gang - obviously, the Tech Raiders!
On their way back to the Temple to get some sleep, the bounty hunter shows up again, this time disguised as one of the hotel's valets. She manages to push Obi-Wan over the side of a railing, and he almost goes kersplat on the ground far below, but he manages to catch himself with his cable and climb back up. This is interestingly similar to what he does in Episode II in his fight with Jango Fett....
The next day, they track down Helb at the Tech Raiders' base on Vandor-3, a nearby planet. When they confront him, Helb admits that he hired Fligh to steal Senator S'orn's data pad, but he flatly denies putting a mark on Fligh's head; he's too useful. But then Helb lets slip that both he and Fligh lost a sabacc game to Didi the other day, and Helb is the one who gave the house to Didi to pay off his debt. And where did he get that house? From a mysterious old man he met in the tavern the same day the Jedi first spoke to him. Uh-oh....
Chapter 14
"'Have you ever used a blaster before, Astri?' Qui-Gon asked cautiously. 'How hard could it be?' Astri said. 'Point and shoot. Easy as making a meal.' After having seen her kitchen, Qui-Gon was not sure he trusted her shooting." - XD
Thankfully, the Jedi get to the "safehouse" soon enough to find Didi and Astri are completely safe. As they explain the situation, Astri admits that she paid Fligh to pass along tips for who might be a high-paying customer to drum up business. She also lets slip that Fligh actually gave her Jenna Zan Arbor's data pad for safekeeping, not telling her where he got it. She'd stuffed it in a broken oven and forgotten about it until they left to come here, but took it with her because her own data pad was broken. All the information on it is encoded, but Qui-Gon sends it to Tahl to decode it.
Just when they're about to head out to somewhere safer, Didi mentions that there's a caretaker, an old woman who comes by once a day with provisions. And there's only one person that could be....
Chapter 16
EEEEEK, the exciting conclusion!!!! 8D The bounty hunter turns up and attacks them, and an exciting battle commences! They manage to get up to the second floor of the house and out a window to the landing platform, but discover that both of their transports have been disabled. As the bounty hunter comes after them, Obi-Wan spots her cruiser down the mountainside, and they head in that direction. The bounty hunter basically sleds down the mountain on her back, getting to the transport before they can get to it in all the snow, and heading them off. She shoots Didi and grabs Astri with her whip, pulling her in and grabbing the data pad from her. Obi-Wan pulls off some really stunning moves in the fight, but Qui-Gon tells him to help Didi and Astri while he goes after the bounty hunter. He jumps into her cruiser as she's taking off, and then, the last thing Obi-Wan sees: Qui-Gon is shot and falls into the cruiser. The bounty hunter's ship flies off for parts unknown.
"Had Qui-Gon been captured by the bounty hunter, or had he captured her? Was he mortally wounded? Was he alive--or dead? The anguish of not knowing made Obi-Wan want to crash to his knees. But there were wounded he had to care for. Qui-Gon had told him to stay. 'Don't lose heart, Qui-Gon,' he whispered. 'I'll find you. Hold on.' He would find a way to bring back his Master." - And we have to leave it there until the next book! Worst cliffhanger EVER! D:
