#I BELIEVE IN MADRIGAL TRIPLETS SUPREMACY
Note
If you’re still taking prompts:
The triplets doing something at the same time in true creepy triplet fashion
Always open to prompts! The only time I'm not is if the ask box is closed 😁 (And I promise to announce if that's ever the case)
Tumblr media
The triplets didn't often do things at the same time, but when they did it was noticeable. It could be downright eerie.
The first instance Mirabel noticed was when Antonio dropped a plate. Thankfully, the plate didn't break, but all three triplets looked up at the exact same time, standing up in tandem and even had the same concerned looks on their faces. For the first time, Mirabel noticed a true resemblance between her mother, aunt and uncle.
But it was only a small thing. Easy to brush off.
However, those little moments kept piling up and up. Only Abuela, Félix and Agustín didn't seem to notice. Meanwhile, the Madrigal kids were all increasingly aware of the "weird triplet thing" and unnerved whenever it happened.
It was weird. How could three separate people, who were all so different, be so in sync?
Another time was when Camilo was starting a water balloon fight. He and Mirabel tip-toed into the garden. The triplets were sitting on the back steps.
Without even turning around, the three of them said, "Don't even think about it."
"How did you know!?" Camilo demanded. He looked as freaked out as Mirabel felt.
It was even weirder when Julieta, Bruno and Pepa turned to face them at the exact same time.
"We know," they said flatly. It was getting ridiculous.
"Knock it off," Mirabel said, tense as a spring.
Julieta's smile was so sweet it verged on openly mocking. "Knock what off, mija?" she asked. She was clearly biting back laughter.
"That!" Mirabel pointed between them. "The weird triplet thing!"
"You're gonna have to clarify," Bruno said, hands clasped and shoulders back in an impression of Abuela. "We do a lot of weird triplet things."
"You keep doing things at the same time," Camilo said, gripping one of the water balloons so tightly that Mirabel was surprised it didn't pop. "And saying things at the same time!"
The triplets looked at each other, eyebrows raised. They shrugged, only further proving the point.
"Eh," Pepa said. "We don't even notice anymore."
"It's weird," Camilo said.
"I think it's sweet," Julieta said, nose in the air.
With an outright mischievous grin, Bruno added; "It's a triplet thing. You wouldn't get it."
Mirabel threw her water balloon, but Bruno ducked, laughing at her. It sailed harmlessly overhead, bursting on the grass. Casita rattled and Mirabel knew the house was laughing at her and Camilo too.

The question, Do you believe in miracles? was redundant in the Encanto. Of course every resident of their hidden valley believed in miracles and believed in magic: a miracle saved them so long ago and magical blessings were the norm with los Madrigals at the helm.
Julieta lived under the protection of a miracle born from her father’s sacrifice and her mother’s need. Sappy as it may have sounded, she believed each of her daughters was a blessing, magic or no magic. It was a miracle of its own to have such a wonderful family.
But magic and miracles came with prices: stress, responsibility, fear…Her brother vanishing for ten long years.
A curse for Julieta, such a personal one, as if the fates contrived to come up with a special torture for her. What better way to break her heart than to tear apart her family?
*
The Madrigal triplets reunite, and Julieta has a lot to reflect on.

Prompt: Pepa being overprotective towards Bruno (I know you have already written about this, but i have no self-control😅)
Protective Pepa, my beloved 💕
Tumblr media
Here's the thing about getting your little brother back after ten years of unanswered questions: you tend to get a little overprotective. Just a little. A tiny smidge.
No, Pepa was not overreacting, thank you, keep your nose out of her business.
She was being perfectly reasonable. Was a part of her constantly terrified that Bruno would disappear again if she looked away? Yes. Did she want to claw out the villagers' eyes whenever they got close to Bruno? Most definitely!
But this was normal. She was fine!
It was completely and totally normal for her to stomp over, grab her brother and physically drag him away when an angry villager cornered him about a vision that was over thirty-years-old. In fact, it was only to be expected that Pepa slapped the man as hard as she could.
The slap was so hard, so loud, that everyone around them stopped to stare. It only made Pepa angrier. Oh, now they'd acknowledge what was going on? But they wouldn't lift a finger to help Bruno when a man was screaming abuse at him?
That wasn't about to fly.
The man fell silent in shock, mouth agape. A bright red handprint was forming on his cheek.
"If you didn't want your wife to leave you," Pepa hissed. "Maybe you should have kept it in your pants, you disgusting pig. Don't you dare blame my brother for your actions! Stay away from him, from all of us, if you know what's good for you."
"Pepa?" Bruno sounded strangled, completely shellshocked. She could see the anxiety in his eyes as he looked around and realised how many people were staring and muttering. He gulped and pulled his hood up, hunching in on himself.
So Pepa grabbed him and pulled him away, glaring at anyone who dared to meet her eyes.
She'd just gotten her brother back. She wasn't about to let a bunch of narrow-minded, selfish idiots chase him away again. Pepa was not losing him again. Never again.
"You shouldn't have done that," Bruno mumbled as they left the building site. Pepa didn't even know where she was leading him, she just knew she needed to get Bruno away from that damn crowd.
"Yes I should," Pepa said, still seething. If she still had her Gift, a storm would have swept over the village. "I should have done that a long time ago, Bruno."
Bruno was silent. And then he spoke so quietly that Pepa nearly missed it. Perhaps if she hadn't been so used to Dolores, she would have missed it.
"Gracias, hermana mayor."
God, how she missed that title.
Pepa managed to relax and let go of Bruno's arm so they could walk together instead. She grinned at him and he lowered his hood, smiling shyly.
"Any time, hermanito," she said. She snickered and added, "Next time I'll just go straight for a proper punch!"
Bruno laughed and Pepa finally, truly relaxed. They were okay. They'd both be okay.

Now you see I want to hear about Pepa’s shovel talk to Agustin!
Protective Pepa 🌩️🌩️
Tumblr media
Pepa's cloud was flashing with lightning. The persistent, quiet rumble of thunder only added to the ominous atmosphere.
Agustín felt frozen to his seat. He threw a pleading glance at Bruno, but his friend only smirked and shrugged at him. Bruno was sitting on the kitchen counter, looking unbearably smug and clearly enjoying himself.
Pepa was anything but amused. She stood over Agustín, arms crossed and expression murderous.
"Let's get one thing clear," she said quietly, cold as ice. "If you hurt my sister even once, I'll rip you apart."
A chill crept into the room and Agustín shivered. Pepa smirked. That somehow made it even worse.
"Noted," Agustín said, gulping. He gave a nervous, tense chuckle and glanced at Bruno again. "You, uh...You gonna give me a shovel talk too, Bruno?" he asked, trying to break the tension and failing miserably.
"Nope." Bruno popped the 'P' and reached for a jar of chocolate spread, happily eating it with a spoon. "I think Pepi has it covered. Besides, if you hurt Juli I'll just find a bad prophecy for you. Or trip you into a beehive. You know the drill."
That didn't help at all. It also sounded suspiciously like a cheerful shovel talk.
"Uh..." Agustín didn't know how to proceed. Should he beg for Pepa's mercy? Swear to love and honour Julieta always? Run for his life?
Pepa's hand clapped down on his shoulder, her nails digging into his skin. She leaned down, smiling. Lightning flashed in her cloud again.
"This is the one and only warning you get," she said and the thunder gained volume. "I don't like repeating myself. Julieta's my big sister. Brunito and I love her very much. Everyone's scared of Bruno but, y'see, that's pretty dumb. I'm the one you should be scared of."
Agustín didn't doubt that for a moment.

i’ve been reading your prompts and i think they’re absolutely amazing. i especially love your actual baby brother bruno au, and was wondering if you could do another one with julieta and pepa bonding with/being protective over bruno? (if you’re still accepting prompts, that is). i love your writing!
Madrigal triplets (or in this case, siblings) supremacy 👏👏
(And aro-ace Bruno!)
Tumblr media
The front door of Casita slammed open and Julieta flinched in shock to hear her little brother shout, "IF YOU WANT ME TO GO, YOU'LL HAVE TO DRAG ME!"
And Alma, even louder: "DON'T YOU DARE RAISE YOUR VOICE AT ME, YOUNG MAN!"
"THEN STOP TRYING TO SET ME UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE! I DON'T WANT TO GET MARRIED, END OF DISCUSSION!"
Then his bedroom door slammed and Julieta and Pepa were left gaping at each other in silence across the kitchen table, their cups of coffee immediately forgotten.
Their mamá was at it again. Trying to play match-maker, not understanding that Bruno simply wasn't interested. Alma thought it was his anxiety and shyness holding him back; she thought his depression was warping his view of himself. Julieta could understand that logic; after all, that was what she'd wondered too at first, until she heard Bruno out.
Romance, relationships, marriage and everything that came with it, were of no interest to him. For years, the mere mention of sex made him wrinkle his nose in disgust. Once, when he was sixteen, a girl tried to kiss him by the river and he ran straight to Julieta's stall and he avoided that particular classmate of his for a week.
Their little brother was five years younger than them. Not the biggest of age gaps, but Alma had always drilled it into them that they were The Big Sisters. It was their job to keep Bruno safe.
Even from Mamá if they must.
Julieta still remembered the night they got their Miracle; she remembered holding her newborn brother and crying for her Papá, sitting outside the newly formed Casita with Pepa, as a suspicious and frightened Alma went to investigate the living house. For a while, Julieta had been convinced that Alma would never come out; the house would eat her up, and Julieta would have to look after her sister and brother all by herself.
She remembered vowing again and again to protect her baby brother, a silent promise to herself and to their papá.
So Julieta stood now, Pepa right behind her, and went to Bruno's room.
She knocked, but didn't wait for a response before opening the door. The knocking was more of a formality anyway; unless he was in the ante-chamber or main room, he'd never hear her.
There seemed to be more sand than last time. Or maybe she was imagining it. The stairs to the vision cave seemed bigger.
She hoped she was imagining that.
"Brunito?" Julieta made for the second, smaller staircase, leading to his bedroom. "Bruno, it's just us."
Bruno was sitting on the edge of his bed, glaring at the wall. At age twenty-five, he was the spitting image of Pedro. His nails dug into his blanket and he looked like he was about to scream or cry.
Pepa pushed past Julieta, practically running to the bed and throwing herself down gracelessly, flinging an arm around Bruno's shoulders.
"Y'know," she said with a big, dramatic sigh. "I always thought Mamá needed a hobby. Bet this is all because she's bored."
Bruno's lips twitched, an almost-smile.
Julieta sat on his other side, more gentle than her twin sister. Ever since Isabela and Pepa had been born two years ago, Alma had tried harder to convince Bruno to start a family of his own. "You're so good with the ninos," she said, in a rare soft voice. "Look at the kind of papá you could be, amor."
Maybe Bruno would have been a good father, but being a Tio suited him much more.
"Even if I wanted to," Bruno said in that flat, dark tone that Julieta hated. "Even if Mamá was right and I was just being too shy...It wouldn't work. She's blind to it, but who'd want Bad Luck Bruno?" He snorted, seemingly unaware of how his sisters flinched. "Stupid rumours are finally coming in handy, hermanas."
Julieta was his big sister. The eldest. She knew exactly how to snap him out of it.
"It's their loss," she said. Starting to grin, she leaned against him, wrapping her arms around both of her siblings. "Because mi hermanito has such a big heart!"
"Oh no," Bruno muttered as Pepa started to giggle.
"And is so creative!"
"Julieta, stop," Bruno groaned. He tried to push away and stand up, but Pepa helped pin him into the group hug, laughing more than ever.
"So funny and sweet, and look at those beautiful green eyes!"
"Dios mio, Julieta, stop it! We're too old for this!" But Bruno was finally snickering as he tried in vain to push her away.
"Never!" Julieta cupped his face in her hands, kissing both his cheeks and his forehead in rapid succession, finally giving into the urge to giggle herself. She continued as Bruno finally broke into true laughter and she cooed all the while; "Hermano bébé, mi corazón, pequeño! Te amo, mi hermanito!"
"Julieta!" The last of the tension left his narrow shoulders as he laughed against her shoulder. "You're impossible."
"Ay, we're all impossible if you believe Mamá," Pepa said with a wave of her hand. She was grinning broadly, a rainbow above her head. "And our teachers."
"Tch, do you have any idea how many of them expected me to be trouble because of you?" Bruno asked, slapping their sister's arm.
"You were trouble."
"Lies and slander. I never got caught, hermana mayor."
"You don't still think he's the one who stuck chalk in our teacher's erasers, do you?" Julieta sighed.
"He did!" Pepa protested. "How do you still not believe me!?"
"Because it's ridiculous!"
"You know he's a little shit, you just fall for those puppy-eyes every time-"
"If you're gonna fight, take it outside," Bruno said. "I don't want blood on my bed again."
"That was one time!"
"One time too many, Pepi!"
Julieta remembered that particular fight. Pepa had shoved her and Julieta had smacked her face off Bruno's headboard, earning herself a bloody nose. Bruno had only been ten and he'd started screaming at the sight.
Sighing fondly, Julieta pushed Bruno's hair off his face, trying in vain to keep it out of his eyes; it immediately curled back into place.
"You're perfect the way you are," she said gently. "I hope you know that."
Bruno smiled at her, leaning against her shoulder again. "Gracias, Juli," he said.
It wasn't quite an agreement, but she'd take it.

no thoughts head empty only bruno asking pepa 'how's the weather up there' and her like deliberately raining on him 'oh you didn't predict this?'
these two are julieta's constant headaches.
Pepa's got constant "When I was your age," jokes. One day, however, she cracks a "When I was your height," joke and Bruno immediately pours his water on her head.
Sometimes Julieta wonders if they've actually aged at all since they were teenagers.
Pepa and Bruno know they're in deep shit if Julieta holds her arms out, smiling and coos, "Come to your hermana mayor," while following them with murder in her eyes.

Hello, I was reading your story "Flickering" (amazing) and the current arc of Osma, and I was wondering how Pepa and the rest of the family would react if some villager (very stupid) called her a hypocrite for defending Bruno now when she never did in the past (according to some of them)?
The villagers forget Protective Big Sister Mode at their own peril 👀👀
Tumblr media
“Hypocrite,” Manuel muttered. “Like you give a shit about him.”
He should have known better.
Pepa’s hand clapped down on his shoulder. Her cloud grew and darkened; the clouds overhead began to swirl as a harsh wind picked up. Lightning struck overhead.
“Excuse me?” Pepa’s voice was quiet and ice cold. “What did you just say?”
“Pepa,” Bruno said, stepping forward. “Let’s just-”
“No, Brunito. This idiota is real brave when he thinks no one can hear him. Out with it, Manuel. What did you just say?”
It may have been ten years of separation but Bruno knew that look in his hermana’s eyes. When she got like this there was no stopping her. Plenty of people learned the hard way not to lay a hand on Bruno or throw insults around if Pepa was nearby.
It seemed Manuel had forgotten that lesson.
And it seemed he really was an idiot, because he actually looked Pepa in the eye and said, “Well, since when do you care? He ruined your wedding, remember!? He’s a curse!”
There was a brief moment of silence. Bruno saw a woman in the crowd cross herself.
The clap of thunder was deafening as a harsh, cold rain began to pour. The wind was so strong it knocked Manuel off his feet. Lightning struck, barely missing him.
Manuel screamed, covering his head.
“Uh oh,” Bruno muttered.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL HIM!?” Pepa’s scream could be heard even over the chaos. She stomped forward and bent down, grabbing Manuel by the collar. “You seem to forget, I was the one knocking you sorry idiots on your asses. Bruno would prank you and he could be vicious, but me? Remember how I zapped Ricardo? Remember how I threw you in the river? Want a repeat!?”
“Pepa!” Bruno ran forward, wrapping his arms around her. “Come on, it’s fine. He’s not worth it, you know he’s not!”
“You’re worth it,” Pepa said firmly, never taking her furious eyes off Manuel.
And okay, yeah, that kind of warmed Bruno’s heart. But he was pretty sure Pepa would do something she’d regret if she wasn’t distracted. Dios mio, where was Félix when you needed him?
Sighing, Bruno pulled the very best puppy-eyes he could. They always worked on Julieta, not so much on Pepa, but it was his best bet.
“Please,” he said quietly. “Let’s just go home.”
Pepa stared at him. Slowly, oh so slowly, the fury drained out of her eyes. The storm stopped but Bruno didn’t let go of her until she tossed Manuel back into the dirt with a disgusted huff.
“You have a short memory,” Pepa said coldly. “And I bet some others do too. So here’s a reminder: you mess with my brother and you’ll have to deal with me. C‘mon Bruno.” She stomped away as if he was the one keeping them here.
“Bruno!” Pepa called from a few paces away. “Come on!”
Bruno stared at Manuel, still crouching on the ground. The rest of the crowd was either dispersing or staring.
Bruno leaned down to Manuel and smiled, widening his eyes. He let his grin turn utterly vicious.
“And vice versa,” he said quietly. “Mess with my sister and I will see the worst visions possible, the horrors mankind has the offer…And I’ll make you watch.”
He wouldn’t. But Manuel didn’t need to know that.
Acting had always come in handy.
With that, he ran after Pepa. As soon as he was near enough, she grabbed him and flung an arm over his shoulders.
“Morons,” she muttered. “They should know better by now.”
Well, Bruno wouldn’t argue with that. Surely everyone knew crossing Pepa was a bad idea.
Still…
“You didn’t need to do that,” he said softly. It wasn’t the first time he’d been called Bad Luck Bruno, far from it. He doubted it would be the last.
“Of course I did!” Pepa snapped, but she smiled at him. “I’m your older sister.”
“By ten minutes!”
“Still older!” As she laughed, the clouds in the sky slowly vanished. “Face it, you’re stuck with me, hermanito.”
“…Good,” Bruno said with a smile. “That’s fine by me, hermana.”

So how would you guys feels about a one-shot (or longer) fully covering The Catalina Incident? 👀👀
Because I may or may not have an outline
(Bruno and Isa parallels my beloved)
Tumblr media
“But onto less serious matters….” Alma smiled at Bruno and Julieta had to admit she did a double take at the hint of mischief in her mother’s eyes.
Mischief was not a word ever associated with Alma Madrigal.
“Julieta mentioned you have plans with Catalina today, Brunito?” Alma asked.
“Hm?” Bruno swallowed his coffee, throwing their mother a bewildered glance. “Uh, yeah. We’re going to lunch with Pepa and Félix.”
Alma raised her eyebrows at Pepa. “Do you not think they need time alone, mija?” she asked pointedly and- oh. Oh, Julieta got it. Alma had noticed Catalina flirting with Bruno after all.
So had Pepa. Julieta thought it was sweet, she was excited that someone was finally looking past the awful rumours. Agustín and Félix agreed with her. But Pepa? Oh no. No, she insisted Catalina couldn’t be trusted.
“Nope,” Pepa said briskly in answer to Alma, arms folded. “It’s a group thing.”
Bruno just looked more and more lost.
Alma looked at him again, her smile surprisingly indulgent.
“Well, maybe another time.” She stood, hands clasped, looking out at the village. “She’s a very sweet girl, isn’t she, Bruno?”
“Er, yeah…” Bruno looked at Julieta, Agustín and Pepa questioningly. Julieta tried not to giggle. Surely her little brother wasn’t truly so clueless!
Agustín waggled his eyebrows. Bruno just looked more confused than ever, lowering his fork and looking at Agustín like he’d grown two heads.
Pepa scowled, stabbing at her breakfast as if it was Catalina herself.
Alma continued speaking as she straightened Bruno’s shoulders and tried to tuck his hair back from his face (failing miserably, it immediately fell back into place); “She comes from a fine family, and I hear she’s very clever. She’s certainly beautiful, no?”
Just like that, Bruno’s smile stiffened. His eyes widened and Julieta knew him well: she could see the complete and utter panic on his face even as he made a choked sound of agreement with Alma and managed a tiny stiff nod.
Wait…Had he really not realised? Julieta thought…Well, Bruno was always shy. She thought maybe he was just being shy now, not knowing what to do or say. But surely Catalina had been obvious enough? God above, surely Pepa had been obvious with her protective sister act!
“It would be so good for the Encanto,” Alma finished happily. She finally admitted defeat with Bruno’s hair, merely patting him on the head.
“Um,” Bruno said, voice shaking. “I, um…”
Julieta’s concern skyrocketed.
“Brunito?” she whispered.
“Well then, our community is counting on us!” Alma clapped her hands together. “La familia Madrigal!”
“La familia Madrigal,” Julieta, Pepa and Agustín dutifully repeated, but Bruno stared straight ahead with wide, glazed eyes. His breathing was picking up speed and, before Julieta could say anything, he fled the table.

Later, he couldn’t say he was completely surprised when they burst into his room, though it certainly scared his poor rats.
“Group night!” Félix cheered, punching the air. “We’re going out, bro!”
Pepa bounced on her toes, smirking. Her very stance suggested that, if he dared to complain, she’d bodily drag him down the stairs.
Agustín was still trying to fix his hair, still damp from a bath. Julieta looked perfectly put together, smiling hopefully.
Bruno smiled, reaching for his shoes.
“Okay,” he said.
Who needed romance? Certainly not him.
He had his family; that would always be enough.

Bruno comes out to his sisters and attempts to come out to Alma. The conversations and reactions are very different.
At the end of the day, Bruno knows what he does and doesn't want. So long as he has his sisters in his corner, that's what matters.

Call her paranoid; maybe her own anxiety was getting the better of her. Either way, Pepa was fed up with people hurting Bruno. If Catalina wanted a vision, she’d better just come out and say it.
And if this was the sincere offer of a date, the way Julieta thought, then Pepa wanted to see just who the hell thought she was good enough for her hermanito, thanks very much.
Not even asking for Pepa's blessing first! The nerve of it!

Call Pepa crazy, but she's pretty sure that Catalina can't be trusted.

As Julieta instructed, she lay the cold damp cloth on Bruno’s forehead, but he barely even reacted. Every single sound, no matter how quiet, seemed to hurt him. His fists kept clenching, his expression one of pain. He was limp as a ragdoll and Pepa kept thinking, Clear skies, clear skies, clear skies.
Pepa was not a stranger to feeling helpless, but this particular situation was entirely new.
“You’re okay,” she whispered, wondering if even that soft assurance was hurting him. “You’re alright, I promise.”

Julieta and Pepa work together when Bruno's migraines leave him bedridden. Bruno accidentally reveals more of his past and Alma takes a step forward.

Julieta watched them laughing together, occasionally joining in on the story (if only to protest against it); she watched Pepa’s cloud shrink and vanish entirely as she talked. She watched Bruno snickering like a schoolboy, eyes shining. He looked so much better, almost entirely well again. The shadows under his eyes still bothered her and he was still paler than usual…But he was awake, he was laughing with them. He’d even trusted them with more of his story.
She was going to make sure she kept that trust, that she kept earning it.
She was also going to make sure that Pepa regretted ever breathing a single word of those embarrassing stories. Julieta had plenty of dirt of her own.
For now, she was content to watch her sister and her friend, and see the worry leave Pepa’s eyes and the light coming back to Bruno’s.
*
Bruno, Julieta and Pepa further explore Bruno's story and share some happier memories.

“Hola hermanito,” Pepa chirped. She had her hands behind her back. “We found something we think you’ll like in town!”
“What?” Bruno asked suspiciously.
“Hold out your hand.”
His eyes narrowed further. “Pepa, if you’re about to put a spider in my hand, I swear to God-”
She squawked indignantly. “When was the last time I did that?”
“When we were twenty.”
“Oh for heaven’s sake,” Julieta sighed. She snatched something from Pepa’s hands and held it out to Bruno with a grin. “Here.”

I'm still obsessed with Julieta and her teeth necklace 😂
I had to take a breather from the angst with some tales of the triplets being gremlin children. If anyone was gonna show a morbid curiosity about baby teeth, it had to be Julieta 😂
