As for Rayyan... yes. They definitely are the competitive type, both when it comes to tennis and. Well. Romance.

Glad you enjoyed some of the interactions between the ROs/characters in the update, it was a lot of fun getting to write some of these dynamics after building up to them in earlier chapters. A personal fave was writing Tobin's locker room scenes, and G/Rayyan being soft, and Sam's reunion :)

Hiiiya! Quick observation: I don't think we ever actually see Az or Crowley cry in either season. Like, the tears never quite overflow not even during/after the final 15. I read films are careful to draw crying out, so they can signal an emotional climax, soo... omg, I cant wait for s3. Can I asked for your crying prediction? Who might it be first, and when? My guess is on their reunion, but who knows... eep!

Ahhh, we ALMOST got some crying in S2... I can't wait for the BluRays to come out so we can see it in higher quality to confirm, but if you zoom in on the GIFs of Crowley's confession, it looks like he's tearing up (and many suspect he is, given his sudden stop of speaking because he sounded like if he kept talking he was going to cry).

But I agree Nonny, I want full blown tears. I LOVE happy tears or tears of incredulity in ships, and I don't think they happen enough, for long enough, LOL. I also think it will be during their reunion, and my money is on Crowley, actually. We see in S2 just how bottledd up emotionally he keeps himself, and he nearly broke down in his confession. But I think he will crack FIRST, and then Azzie, because he doesn't like seeing Crowley cry, I bet.

THOUGH another thought, Aziraphale will be the first, when he realizes his mistake, and think that Crowley will never talk to him again... As someone who identifies strongly with Azzie, I get a feeling he has a tendency to catastrophize a situation if he feels he fucked up for good and there's no fixing it. As someone prone to that myself, I can speak to knowing how utterly empty one feels when they feel like nothing will fix anything, and we tend to just... hide and cry, because admitting you fucked up is harder than hiding away.

So yeah, if it's the reunion with a confession, Crowley will be the first. If it's Aziraphale, alone, dealing with the weight of all his choices, feeling helpless and like no one is ever coming to save him again, then he will be the first, alone.

Ahhh, and now I made myself cry 😭😭

What are your mekatrio + Ayano hcs esp post-str? I’m still bitter that we didn’t get to see their reunion in mca

FOR FUCKING REAL UGH mca giving us the Good ending but at the same time starving us horribly. like it only delivered on ayano and hiyori being alive 😭 but we dont even SEE hiyori we just pathetically point at her silhouette and then we see shinaya scene that seems to have gotten the whole budget in animation. there is something that irks me abt the shinaya scene in str being so damn pretty and then ayanos theory of happiness is. THAT. like when i remember ayanos theory of happiness in mca i lose my mind bc sometimes i cant believe that rly happened. kagepro is such a joke

WAIT THIS ISNT MCA BASHING ITS MEKATRIO TIME omg post str tateyama siblings♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ i think ayano feels insanely guilty for leaving them alone for so long and feels like a damn failure and well ayano's mental stability post str is something to be studied by scientists let's just say she's BARELY hanging in there. she's desperate to make up for lost time and so is the trio but the trio is more like hey WE are also there for u if u need it especially kido and seto to BOTH kano and ayano, like we dont want you guys to ever hide something like that from us again bc we are supposed to be a family and we're in this together ok??? especially now that their parents are gone gone. like kenjirou had been long gone since before properly dying but... it still hits different that he's REALLY gone for good.

but if anything this drives ayano to try to suck it up even more. she's not even relying on kano anymore because she sees how it's affected him that she did rely on him so much back then, and she's even MORE incredibly guilty over it. ayano would be helicoptering over all 3 and ESPECIALLY kano.

kido has been carrying the pressure of trying to be The Big Sister replacement after losing 2 big sisters of their own, seto is sort of projecting all his insecurities and pain onto helping mary and obsessing over how much worse she had it as if that somehow takes away his right to also be upset and kano is. (gestures at his whole thing) i think post str kano is the most messed up of them all and i mean ALL the dan, even more than ayano or shintaro LMAO

because while ayano and shintaro are sort of clumsily tripping and stuff in the way of healing they're still in that path while kano is actively spiraling down bc he's so used to being miserable and now he's gotten everything he's ever wanted and he feels so undeserving and guilty and lost and alone. and ayano is here BEGGING to be relied on and needed but kano KNOWS BETTER than to do that because he knows ayano is hurting too and in the same way she is sucking it up for his and their siblings' sake he is doing the same for her. its such a mess. i love emotional constipation.

kano is on his way to a very very VERY ugly meltdown like im talking about a sort of um maybe 💀 attempt. YKNOW WHAT I MEAN. erm... ayano too actually but i think she is most likely to seek help before it gets to that point especially since teehee she's. done that before. also ayano is sort of distracting herself with her relationship mess with shintaro bc that's ridiculous and its EASIER to be hurt about that than everything else. like somehow this silliness sort of saves her LOL not to sidetrack to shinaya but i think a big reason theyre so fucking messy is not only the obvious reasons but also they find comfort in that because that way they can be primarily worried about stupid shit like bwaaa u cuddle with ur asuna body pillow and not me instead of THE TIMELINES...WEVE DIED 1000 TIMES.... IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN.... yknow what im saying!

i think she ends up breaking down to mekatrio and they all hold her while she cries the same way she held them while they cried when they reunited :(( i think when they reunite ayano is crying but Not sobbing while the mekatrio is like a fucking mess clinging to her and stuff. kind of like when shintaro goes get ayano like u dont have to fight alone anymore. ayano is like that to her siblings when they reunite she wants to be strong and let them cry like little kids again because they've been getting by alone for so long

i think breakdowns happen like. seto first, then kido second, then ayano, then kano (and kano's is UGLY like something very bad happens for this to take place)

also there is something so interesting to be explored in post str mary and ayano. ayaki is still the same person as ayano yknow, kinda... like everything ayaki does is something ayano in this route is capable of as well. and maybe in the worst part of her ayano resents mary even if she knows she shouldn't, and she's also troubled over seto obsessing over her so much instead of taking care of his own baggage. teehee.

surprisingly kido is the most put together of the 4 but theyre rather like a pressure bomb abt to go off LOL i think their breakdown begins through them getting REALLY REALLY MAD and exploding at everyone. it could start with something like kano putting the empty milk back in the fridge instead of throwing it away LMAO also kido's self steem is basically nonexistent and relies completely on trying to be this Cool Leader so a breakdown is absolutely forbidden. but it happens♥️ everyone needs therapy 👍👍👍

Even more spiraling me: *trying not to think about the empire siblings and vaxleth being captured and/or potentially killed in the aftermath of all of this. i cant deal with reliving vox machina through the animated show and having it TRULY POTENTIALLY END FOR VAXLETH LIKE THIS??? AND just having seen beau and caleb being happy/content with their jobs trying to dismantle the corruption in their country and with their wonderful partners in the M9 reunion and being taken ripped away from it by the only person possibly worse than trent ikithon???? please ive been half-grieving and half-anticipating like waiting for news on a loved one in the hospital (and having been on both sides of that equation i know what it looks like and feels like)

Oh my gosh, that's super cool! I, admittedly, don't know a lot about Vietnamese culture. What all happens at a têt festival? If you don't mind me asking.

ooh so first everyone get like a government issued week off (yayyy!!) but it can vary depending on how much your job/school is

the preparations start about a month or at least a week before, youd have to clean out the entire house, no speck of dust left!!! take out all your furniture and polish them!!! the year shall start FRESH

and also the sticky rice cakes ingredients gotta be dipped in water for a night or two and cooked later, gotta wipe and clean and dry the wrapping leaves, etc, some of us jsut buy store made ones :D (the cookin can take up to 8 hours 💀 or more)

new years eve, according to the lunar calendar (its the 21st this year :D), we have this reunion dinner with our family, we have some funky new years foods like some box shaped (bánh chưng) or cylindrical shaped (bánh tét) sticky rice mung bean cakes <- the former is traditional to the northern part of vietnam while the latter is native to the south, i like banh tet more XD), yellow boiled chicken, rice, sweet sticky rice, pickled veggies (củ kiệu) <- it goes with the cakes mentioned, also caramelized meat and eggs, and some other foods and snacks like candied fruits (including ginger), some roasted seeds (watermelon, sunflower, pumpkin)

worship, pray to ancestors (place a plate of 5 fruits that their names would be a play of word to mean lucky things, i dont know much about those but their are certain fruit you definitely cant put on the plate as it would mean bad omens) - go to temples, pagodas since most of us are buddists, pray there for things you want in the coming year, put some money to support the temple and like to give out more youd get more back, people tend to be really generous around new years

lots of food mentioned above are eaten throughout new years

my family doesnt do this but on the first day of new years youre supposed to visit your dad’s extended family, the second day your mum’s and the third you visit your teachers

young children would go and tell well wishes to their elders after that the elders would hand them lì xì (lucky money) and tell the kids well wishes too, but we mostly focus on free money omg!! you can gather lots and lots of money from all the grown ups

the well wishes would typically be to wish the other to reach 100 years old or more, a lengthy life, to get more money and be prosperous, to have things go their way, to be healthy

you are not to sweep your floor within the first 3-5(?) days of new years (they say that would mean youre sweeping all the new years luck away, it varies for some family the waiting period)

unofficially a tradition, we would play card games (illegal) with real money involve (so illegal, but honestly no cops are going to catch you cuz everyone does it for funsies with the family)

btw hardcore card players dont make no sense around these time they use complete slangs to talk 💀 the slangs sound like cantonese fr

also people born in the years fitting of the zodiac of the new year will be luckier (i think) like if you were born in the year of the cat you would be lucky this year since its your year!! (they really do tend to gather more money) (when i was twelve i made so much on my year)

an alternative would be to go on vacations (save you the trouble of having to greet some relatives) (but its really pricey to do so)

Goals + updates for 2023!

(plus sneak-talks into my future fics!)

ALRIGHT RIVAMIKA FRIENDS! This evening (now that I've finally come back from my short New Year's trip... as well as recovered from major car sickness on the way back home l o l), my birthday-week-and-writing-sabbatical (😂) officially begins!

If you've been following, I've been hustling since November with my IRL workload and it has taken time away from writing and fandom things, so I had planned that from January 1st for a whole entire week I will dedicate my time to rest in the form of writing. No work, no emails, no ads...

NOTHING except sitting in coffeeshops or beautiful places and writing stories from my heart again.

During the holidays I had a couple of technically free days, so I wanted to get a one-shot in to get myself ready and warm up for this week (and then produced last week's one-shot, The Perfect Brew, which might mark my all-time favorite one-shot I've written so far).

The hard part was deciding what the heck to focus on and commit to. I thought about keeping it free, but knew it would lead to more one-shots, which is fine too.

But after I came back home and rested, I sorted through my WIP's (which, at this point, I actually have 7! I just forgot about 4 of them omg) and I rediscovered a WIP in my Google Docs I loved and forgot about, and that is the orphanage fic.

I don't think I've shared much about it just yet, but it will be a multi-chapter fic set after Season 3, and both Historia's orphanage and castle will play a big role in the plot for Levi, Mikasa and the Scouts. Obviously I don't think I will complete the entire fic just in this week (sheesh... I can't even imagine?!) but I aim to make a good dent in it and hopefully publish something by my birthday weekend :) I believe this is the one I want to make the most progress in, and hopefully get something published from it, though I can't promise timely updates the way you got Microcosmos every week or two.

Also on the back burner that I might trudge through this week is the Ackerman (Kenny, Levi, Mikasa) short-fic, and a post-war reunion fic that will likely be a long-fic. Then deeeeeep in my backburner is also a post-war long-fic that will circle around Levi and Mikasa and gang as Paradis refugees; I foresee this as something that will be a lot darker and angstier.

I'm honestly just excited for starting 2023 dedicating passion-time to writing; it feels like me saying YES to dedicating this full year to growing as a writer. I only began writing in May so it's strange that I haven't even hit a full year of doing so... But knowing that 2023 is starting and ending with me in love with writing is just exciting. I'm PUMPED. I have other ideas (maybe starting a Rivamika-specific writers' accountability group, etc) but I'll save all of that for another time hehe.

All this to say, thank you to all of my fandom friends I've made here who have encouraged me and brought me soooo much joy and inspiration literally on the daily. You don't understand how much your presence here has helped me in my real daily life, and has sustained this newfound inspiration. It makes writing and creating art not feel like an echo-in-a-chamber. To have real people enjoying what we create together, encouraging each other in the process, and sharing their joys for it, it's just sooo important and meaningful. Thank you all!! I will continue to ~dedicate my heart~ to creating art in lots of forms for our lil community here. :)

Please look forward to another year of Onigiri's proud hyper-fixation on Rivamika ;)

(P.S. I can see my nighttimes being filled with reading all of y'alls fanfics that I haven't gotten to read yet!!! PLS!! I CANT WAIT!)
