It's been 30 YEARS since Jurassic Park first premiered...I remember I was not allowed to see it in the theater (my parents said it was too scary), but I watched the film at a friend's house and completely fell in love.
Tumblr media
The cinematography, the acting, the SCORE—it's definitely one of my favorite films and has held up wonderfully (imo every movie in the franchise since has never lived up to the original).
So what does this news have to do with comedy? Well, I just wanted to point out my Jurassic Park parody of Welcome to the Internet that my son and I had worked on for his birthday in March.
I'm really proud of our lyrics (we even got in the "magic word" bit from Nedry haha), but let me know what you think.
And keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼

Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) Review
Tumblr media
This being a third entry in a Jurassic trilogy, I half expected another raptor to come into Alan Grant’s dreams and say his name methodically. That didn’t happen though. Still, Dominion does keep up the trend with the diminishing quality cycle of the Jurassic films.
Plot: Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history's most fearsome creatures in a new Era.
Jurassic World was a surprising and successful return of the Jurassic Park franchise, bringing us a modern day take on the dinosaur formula whilst still in-keeping a nostalgic homage to the original trilogy. Then Fallen Kingdom happened that caused us all to scratch our heads in wonderment as to where the hell they were taking this narrative. Like what’s the deal with the clone girl? Who came up with that poppy-cock??! Anyway, now Dominion arrives, bringing us great spectacle, the return of the cast from the old original films, lots of excitement and a promise to bring us a finale to this era of the franchise. So of course this must be an improvement on.....ah no, scrap that, it’s once again about the clone girl. They’re sticking with that plot-line. They’re taking it full speed ahead. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no no no no. Look, as much as the clone girl narrative is silly and ridiculous, I would have been okay for there to have been a science fiction film with that story-line. That would have been alright. But why bring that narrative into a Jurassic movie? We watch these movies for the dinosaurs, not cloned humans! And heck, after the cliff-hanger of Fallen Kingdom where dinosaurs were let out to free roam the world, this movie had one job. Dinosaurs in the human world. What we get instead is yet another generic plot about yet another mad scientist experimenting on dinos in his super secretive isolated compound. How. Very. Original.
Speaking of the mad CEO scientist though, this guy...... what a performance! Every line he said was so lifeless and monotone, and when he spoke, all the other actors looked at him as if he were improvising and going off script, but everyone was too afraid of him to say anything so just went along with it. To be fair, I’d be afraid too. A man with such zero personality? What’s he thinking? What’s he about to do?? I don’t know!! The guy is unpredictable and may be dangerous. Or maybe not. I have no clue! Not worth the risk though. Campbell Scott, you truly have given us a performance! However in terms of the other cast members, I must say since the last movie all of them seem to have lost any kind of personality. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, especially the latter, are just straight faced action stars now and that’s it. Pratt used to have a little charm and charisma to him, even in the first Jurassic World movie, but now he just stands there like “Look at how cool I am! I am a cool bloke! Who’s cool?? That’s right, I am!” The little girl that plays the clone, goodness gracious me. Every time she spoke I felt like she was in a soap opera like Coronation Street or EastEnders. So over dramatic!! As for the actors from the original films, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern make for a welcome return, even though the script evidently doesn’t know what to do with them. Sam Neill seems to be doing his impression of a rugged Indiana Jones, hat and all, which kind of now makes me want to see a film where Neill and Harrison Ford play brothers on an adventure quest.
Jurassic World: Dominion suffers most in its script. The dialogue writing is abysmal, and most of the plot points only exist to drive the characters from one action sequence to the next. There is also way to much story, all in different locations, and is overly convoluted for no reason. Basically what I’m saying is, this little small $185 million budget Hollywood motion picture is quite the mess. There’s good visual effects though. And the dino-dino’s look cool. That’s about it though. This is indeed the Jurassic Park III to this new Jurassic World trilogy. Love that mad CEO scientist fella though. What a lad!!
Overall score: 3/10

For my Sync 3, I decided to explore what makes a good movie; what makes people care? To do so, I looked back on movies that I loved, movies that I hated, and some in between. I added some of them to my annotated bibliography, and I must say it ended up being a perfect mixture of things.
Film is a very visual medium, and that means so many different elements are involved to make a good shot, such as: lights, camera movement, shot size, color palette, etc. There is a standardized way of filming a movie that makes it work: the 180 degrees rule, the golden ratio; all these can be used to help a DoP. There are thousands of combinations and variables at hand, and some work, some don’t. One movie I recently watched where I enjoyed the visuals was “Decision to Leave” (Park, 2022) by Park Chan Wook. This was not a good movie in my taste, in light of the fact that I was not engaged whatsoever, and only found the shots very interesting. Overall, this wasn’t enough to make it a good movie for me. So are visuals the most important part of film?
This year in class we learned that sound is more important than video (or the visual side of the film). This is because bad audio makes videos unbearable to watch, and while watching bad quality videos is annoying, bad quality sound makes for headaches. Sound also gives a scene an ambience or a mood, which is additional context that is always welcome. For example, imagine the iconic “We’re going to need a bigger boat” scene in “Jaws” (Spielberg, 1975) without the music. It wouldn’t have half the tension that it does with sound, because the music is what kept us on our toes. This can be said for many genres. But those are non-diegetic sounds. How about diegetic? Imagine watching a movie such as “Jurassic Park” (Spielberg, 1993) or “Avatar” (Cameron, 2009) where the world is not real. The audience has to imagine this whole non-existing world. Adding diegetic sounds helps captivate the audience, and make them feel that they are in the world, as part of the background, and not just looking in through a TV box. It is the added factor that gets people sucked into the story. However, is sound really the most important part of movies?
I think the final main part of movies I could break down is the story itself. A good script has a good story, keeps audiences engaged. It needs an introduction, an inciting incident, plot points one and two, as well as a climax and ending. But mostly all movies have that format, so that is not what makes a good movie. Could it be the topic? The mass production of movies has allowed for all new genres and subgenres to exist, such as costume dramas or dark comedies. This means that some movies have funnier plotlines such as “Rango”,(Verbinski, 2011) while some have darker themes like “Three Bilboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ''(McDonagh, 2017). Both great movies, with very different themes. That’s not it either.
Looking at the components of movies was not working. Then I took a step back… who decides that it is a good movie? There IS one final factor to talk about. The audience. What makes them want to watch a movie? It’s when they feel something about it. A good movie has a character, a relationship, a happening that makes people want to know more, want to continue watching. A good movie makes people feel something. Not many people are going to care about a boat sinking. However, give them characters, give them moments of emotions: rage, guilt, sadness, love; and suddenly, everyone is holding their seats watching as the Titanic (Cameron, 1997) goes down, praying that Jack and Rose make it through.
A great movie has engaging sound, captivating visuals, and an entertaining story; but it means nothing unless it can provoke an emotion. Film doesn’t make everyone feel the same about it, but good films make everyone feel something. Some people watch Scream (Craven, 1996) to get scared, others watch it to laugh; the common factor is, they’re all watching it.
Now one can argue that there are more technical factors that are important in making a movie, and that’s true, that still stands. However, from my understanding and research, emotions are the winning factor when it comes to what makes art so special (I say this because film is a form of art). Provoking and evoking emotions is what we should be thriving to do as filmmakers, or as artists of any kind. Art is what makes life worth living, because it makes us feel things, and reminds us that we are alive.

We’re Not On Nublar Anymore – Camp Cretaceous Season 4 Non Spoiler Review
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 4 has arrived – and it brings with it some exciting revels and new animals, but also some moments which perhaps embrace the more child-friendly nature of this show a little too much for adult fans. This review is non-spoiler, but there will be some reference to the trailers we have already seen for the show – so it may be worth skipping this one if you want to go in entirely fresh!
The biggest thing for those of us who are huge fans of the Jurassic franchise will be the overarching story which we get to explore in the fourth season, and I have to admit that I really enjoyed the overarching themes which are present throughout the story in this season. Sure, some moments of the story feel a little overshadowed by some more grandiose moments which the fourth season perhaps indulges in too much, but the core bones of the story are really solid – and really build on some of the core themes which we’ve been exploring since the first Jurassic Park film. If you watch this series with the context of Jurassic World Dominion in mind, then I think you’ll get a lot of enjoyment from where the story goes, as it certainly got me excited for the upcoming sequel in 2022.
The next most important thing after story, for me at least, is the tone which that story takes – and I was pleasantly surprised by the tone in this season. Don’t get me wrong, the tone of this season can feel a little goofy and on-the-nose at some points, but for the most part it explores some really interesting territory and has some really dark moments. The themes explored within this season really do encapsulate some of the darker corners of the Jurassic franchise when you begin to think about their broader context, and how they may mimic how events are unfolding in a world where dinosaurs now co-exist with our ecosystem. Tone is something I’m very excited to talk about with you all more after the show debuts and you have the opportunity to see it, as there is a lot of cool stuff here to think about.
Characters are important in driving the tone and the story forward in meaningful ways – and it feels like the kids once again get some really solid development in the fourth season. Without going into detail, I found it particularly poignant to see how much this fourth season built upon the experiences which the kids had during their time on Isla Nublar. There is a lot of hard work put in here to really ensure that the characters resonate with us in meaningful ways and I was pretty impressed with how well this was handled by the writers of the fourth season. This season really made me much more curious about how Camp Cretaceous as a whole will end, as with the wealth of experience and knowledge these characters have accumulated, you would definitely expect them to cross paths with the Dinosaur Protection Group or the Depart of Wildlife & Fisheries eventually.
The Animals in the fourth season also stood out to me – with some interesting steps taken to expand the roster of the show for another more unique outing. As you’ve already seen in the promotional material, we have the triumphant return of the Spinosaurus – a dinosaur which we haven’t seen since Jurassic Park III. This animal is well realized within the show and feels like an awesome natural evolution to the dinosaur threats which we have seen in previous seasons. We also get the addition of a sabretooth tiger here, a brand-new kind of threat which injects some welcome new variety into the types of animals which have seen across the franchise up until this point. There are a couple of other treats packed into the show when it comes to the dinosaur department – with one particular addition which I think will get a lot of the Jurassic community incredibly excited when they see it revealed.
I want to keep this review brief so we can afford ourselves the luxury of going more in-depth with our spoiler writeup when we release it, so I wanted to end this article by really thinking about the wider picture in the Jurassic universe currently. As we saw at the end of Season 3, the events which we are experiencing through Camp Cretaceous currently are concurrent with the opening moments of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. This poses some really interesting questions about how the events which have occurred during this show will impact on events in Jurassic World Dominion, as the time between these two provides plenty of scope to build and expand upon the background occurrences which may affect Dominion’s plot. We’re excited to see how future seasons of Camp Cretaceous may build up to the events in Dominion, as there is some really interesting groundwork laid here which could have some interesting consequences in the ‘modern day’ version of the Jurassic World universe as we know it.
So, where does that leave us? Well, Camp Cretaceous Season 4 can be a little bombastic at times, but the storytelling and tone here kept pulling me back. I think that some fans will find this season a little too extreme for their liking, but if you keep the context of the show in mind, and really approach it with the thought of this being something which impacts on the Jurassic universe more broadly, then I think you’ll get a lot of enjoyment from this season.
Camp Cretaceous Season 4 Premieres on December the 3rd 2021 exclusively on Netflix. Thanks to Netflix, Dreamworks Animation & Universal Pictures for giving us advanced access to screeners for the fourth season.

What’s your favorite composition by John Williams? And if you can’t choose just one, list your top 10.
My personal favorite is “Welcome to Jurassic Park,” the finale and credits music for the original Jurassic Park. I love the Jurassic Park theme, and this is a great suite of it combined with the ‘island theme.’ I like it even better than the concert versions of the same combination, as I think those are performed too quickly, even when Williams conducts.
And since I love talking about this, I’m also going to keep going for a top 10! Yay!
“Adventures on Earth” (from ‘E.T. the Extra Terrestrial’): Again, this is the finale and credits, which touches on all the great themes from the movie and includes the big, rousing, emotional climax. It’s funny- just two days ago I was talking about how everyone was comparing the end of Mandalorian Season 2 to the ending of E.T., and I speculated that the reason it didn’t work as well for me as everyone else is because Ludwig Göransson, while a great composer, just doesn’t do that Spielberg-sentimentality as well as Williams. But then, no one does.
“A New Hope and End Credits” (from ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’): I’m cheating with this one. I love the Star Wars music. It’s what made me aware of John Williams in the first place, and it got me to realize that the reason I wasn’t excited by all the pop music that my peers were into wasn’t because I disliked music- I just didn’t like that music. Star Wars taught me that I like the full, complicated performance of an orchestra, that the different sounds of the various instruments intrigue me more than lyrics (which I have to concentrate to understand), and that I like storytelling in music. Star Wars is probably the ultimate expression of that in the career of John Williams, not just because of how thematic it is, but also the breadth afforded by his doing nine movies spread across over 40 years. So how do I pick something to represent that? The main theme? The recurring Force theme? A suite? Yes, I have to go with a suite. But which one? I went with the one from the finale of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ for several reasons. It includes nice expressions of the themes of Leia and Luke, referencing the classic trilogy. It has “Battle of the Heroes,” which I consider one of the standouts of the prequel trilogy. And, for the soundtrack release, this suite includes pretty much all of the expanded version of “The Throne Room” from the very first Star Wars movie, which I feel was a great way for John Williams to take a bow at the end of a trilogy that can be criticized for many things but absolutely not the soundtrack. (By comparison, the soundtrack release for ‘Rise of Skywalker’ was a bit of an anti-climax, as Williams’ last Star Wars movie. That should have included a whole second CD that’s just an hour-long suite of music from the entire 9-film saga! Disney could have afford to take a loss on it! If they’re not going to release properly restored versions of the full series’ soundtracks, they owe to the John Williams fans!) And, of course, there are multiple expression of the Force theme in this piece, from the ‘binary sunset’ final scene of the movie itself to the B-segment of “Battle of the Heroes” to various parts of “The Throne Room,” and that theme might very well be the signature of the series at this point, since it has meaningful recurrence throughout the saga. The main Star Wars theme is Luke’s theme, and is reused throughout the saga as callbacks and call-forwards to that same kind of heroism, but George Lucas kind of messed up the focus there when he expanded things with the prequels. So the Force them is really the dominant theme in the saga, and that’s appropriate. I probably could have selected just the Force theme for this, but by cheating and picking a suite, I get other stuff, too, and get to acknowledge the prequel-era music (which is arguably superior to Williams’ work on the classic trilogy), so it’s a win all around.
“Out to Sea / The Shark Cage Fugue” (from ‘Jaws’): I think we have to recognize that John Williams has made an indelible mark on all of human culture- it is impossible for us include a shark in our media without a pulsating musical motif. He has literally defined the sound of sharks in our imagination. Even so, I think the soundtrack to Jaws is under-valued; sure, everyone knows the shark theme, and there’s no big thematic stuff like in Star Wars or super-emotional stuff like in most of the Spielberg scores, but it’s still a great soundtrack with really solid adventuring music that’s so wonderfully lively and fun to listen to. This suite is a great example of that, mixing samples from the second half of the movie with lighthearted moments, some of the more action-y chase music, and some darker stuff like when the ship is destroyed by the shark. I’ll often just whistle parts of this for fun even if I haven’t listened to the soundtrack or watched Jaws in over a year.
“The Visitors / Bye / End Titles” (from ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’): People are sleeping on this soundtrack, let me tell you. It starts out with weird alien sounds and standard action music, but the ending -- where mankind makes peaceful contact with aliens via the medium of music -- is one of the standouts of Williams’ entire career, one of the greatest examples of that Spielberg sentimentality. I find this music to be absolutely glorious, majestic and full and transcendent. The little joke of having an instrumental recurrence of “When You Wish Upon A Star” along with the ‘five tones’ motif is something I find actively amusing- wish upon a star, and alien life with reach out in response! XD I wish I could have linked to some of the alternate arrangements from the restored 40th Anniversary release from La La Land Records, because they’re absolutely fabulous and I love blaring them on my car’s speakers, but it seems that no one has pirated and posted them on Youtube. WHAT ARE PEOPLE DOING WITH THEIR TIME?!
“Remembering Childhood” (from ‘Hook’): Look, I don’t care what people think of the movie. I haven’t even watched it all the way through in over a decade, probably. But this is one of Williams’ best scores, no fooling. I want a 5-CD expanded soundtrack of this thing with every second of music from the film, the stuff that was recorded that didn’t make the final cut, alternate versions of the stuff that was used, etc. I love this music. Every moment is great. And Remembering Childhood is one of the standouts; it uses the main flying theme at the end, and the beginning is a big triumphant instrumental rendition of the “When You’re Alone” song that sounds great. But the showcase is the stuff that accompanies Peter Banning getting his memories back and becoming Peter Pan once again. It’s emotional and reflective and nostalgic and heartwarming. It’s a perfect musical sandwich.
“Prelude and Main Title March” (from ‘Superman’): Just like John Williams invented the sound of sharks, he invented the sound of cinematic superheroes with his score for Superman. It’s the perfect embodiment of the first and ultimate superhero, and everything that’s been written for the character since has either been a pale imitation or a deliberate attempt to do something different (to lesser effect). And I love the exuberant sound it has, like it’s shouting, “It’s Superman!”
“Love Theme” (from ‘Superman’): Two from Superman?! I didn’t even mange to fit two from Star Wars and had to resort to a suite! (Not that Superman isn’t one of Williams’ best. It’s great.) However, I feel like I had to include this one. Lots of movies have love themes, and Williams himself has written a bunch. But IMO the Love Theme From Superman is the best of them. I’ve never been in love and I don’t ever expect to be, but I have to imagine that this is what love sounds like.
“Theme from Schindler’s List”: There’s a lot of music on this list that’s warm and positive and exciting, but John Williams is also great at quieter stuff, without losing any of emotion. I think the theme from ‘Schindler’s List’ is probably the preeminent example of that, perfectly mournful and full of the proper sound, a unique sound that’s completely unmistakable. Of course, Itzhak Perlman‘s performance is a huge part of that. The theme is still good when played by others, but there’s something special about Perlman’s rendition.
“A New Beginning” (from ‘Minority Report’): Another finale, but this one isn’t a summary of the rest of the movie’s music like the others. It’s a fairly stand-alone piece, but I just love the sound of it. I’m never getting married and I don’t dance, but this is totally going to be the music for the first dance at my wedding reception.
If anyone else has favorites from John Williams’ oeuvre, feel to reply or reblog with additions. I’d love an excuse to re-listen to those.

Anjum Khanna - Top 10 best places to visit in USA
Tumblr media
I'm Anjum Khanna from India and I will share with you my best places in the USA where I visited. Pleasing Planet's movement specialists have scoured the States to present to you our main 10 underestimated, restored and incredible spots to visit in 2020. From normal marvels to enrapturing coastlines and exceptional urban areas, these objections guarantee enormous things this year.
1. California’s Redwood Coast
Lose all track of time (and cell signal) along California's Redwood Coast. Film buffs may perceive the district's scene-taking sceneries from Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, E.T. furthermore, Star Wars. In any case, the full marvel of California's 2000-year-old redwoods – some arriving at 20 stories high – is difficult to catch on any screen. Gaze toward the woodland shelter: that last 100ft of redwood development marks a long time since Redwood National Park was built up in California's tree-embracing win over logging. What's more, this year, in the festivity of their 100th commemoration, Save the Redwoods League is without offering passage to more than 40 redwood state stops each second Saturday of every month.
In 2020, another sort of greenery has been standing out as truly newsworthy as California presents the state-wide legitimization of pot. However, the draws of the Redwood Coast far outperform changes in this industry, welcoming explorers to accomplish a definitive California smooth with its peculiar shops, brewpubs, espresso roasters and calm cheerful hours.
2. Boise, Idaho
Home to a lively expressions network, a blast of grant winning wineries and specialty bottling works and a socially dependable shopping locale, Boise is what cool resembles before the remainder of the world has made sense of it. Fun celebrations have large amounts of Idaho's capital from downtown's Treefort Music Festival (hailed as the new option in contrast to SXSW) to the Boise Brew Olympics and Punk in Drublic – a lovely marriage of underground rock and specialty lager.
Being in closeness to an abundance of characteristic wealth, metropolitan experiences effectively progress into outside departures. Wander through the Boise River Greenbelt, a 25-mile park in the core of the city, or head into the encompassing mountains and lower regions for climbing, mountain biking, skiing and stream boating.
3. Chattanooga, Tennessee
When minimal in excess of a refueling break among Atlanta and Nashville, the nature-driven 'Noog has changed itself into a stronghold of raised Southern living. Outside lovers rush to Chattanooga for the absolute best stone moving in the nation, bunch climbing and mountain biking trails and wild rides on the Ocoee River – one of America's best positions for whitewater boating.
Foodies, hopheads and nerds aren't a long ways behind, either. Chattanooga's revived midtown – focused on the $20-million makeover of the city's unique train station into a multi-reason nightlife and diversion objective (counting a top notch guitar historical center) – is overflowing with journey commendable New Southern food, refreshing distilleries and nerd satisfying web speeds. Meet the New South!
4. Florida’s Space Coast

Try not to need to lose your life reserve funds down a dark gap? Visit the following best thing, Florida's Space Coast: home to the Kennedy Space Center and the setting for innumerable notable dispatches including Apollo 8 – the world's previously monitored rocket to circle the moon – which praises a long time since launch in 2020.

Proceed your amazing experiences with an evening time kayak in the bioluminescent waters around Merritt Island and watch settling ocean turtles on an eco-accommodating visit.
5. Cincinnati, Ohio Set among steep slopes with the scaffold throne Ohio River swashing its edge, Cincinnati has consistently been a looker. Presently brew, expressions and clever neighborhood advancement are giving it some strut. The new Brewing Heritage Trail recounts the larger story: how Cincy was a main maker through the last part of the 1800s, its residents swallowing 2.5 occasions the public normal. Today Rhinegeist and other present day lager producers have assumed control over the relinquished distilleries, a considerable lot of which are walkable in Over-the-Rhine, an old German neighborhood of lavish block structures, new restaurants and crazy shops.
2020 invites another section for the city's creative symbols as the Music Hall commends its 140th birthday celebration subsequent to going through enormous redesigns, and the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company subsides into their new powerful exhibition space.
6. Midcoast, Maine
Single word says everything: 'Ayuh'. What could be compared to 'mm-hm', it's Mainers' typically eccentric and unassuming go-to answer. Is it valid, you solicit, that about 90% of Maine is forested (the most noteworthy level of any state), making it ideal for experience exercises and getting away from traveler swarms? Ayuh. Also, what about Midcoast Maine's wonderful sea exhibition halls and detonating foodie scene of art bottling works, neighborhood grape plantations and gourmet ranch-to-table cafés? It's not the tranquil woodlands it used to be. Ayuh. Indeed, 2018 will check the area's 70th Maine Lobster Festival and a transitioning as an inexorably energizing social focus of elite workmanship historical centers and exhibitions, isn't that so? Ayuh.
7. Richmond, Virginia
River City has flipped from modest to occurring, however the 'hello you all' friendliness remains. Scott's Addition, when an abrasive assembling region, drones with microbreweries, cideries and buzzworthy cafés, while the James River baits swashbucklers with whitewater rapids in addition to another 52-mile bicycle trail along its banks.
Creative features incorporate midtown's splendid wall paintings, the eccentric Quirk Hotel (highlighting interesting plan components and its own craft display) and imaginative transitory shows at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The American Civil War Museum – an ongoing solidification of three separate Civil War locales – investigates Richmond's function as the capital of the Confederacy. One consistent? Patrick Henry requested freedom or demise at reenactments each Sunday in summer at St John's Church.
8. Kentucky Bourbon Country The territory of Kentucky is known for its moving slopes finished off with masterful pony cultivates, its wild commitment to school ball and, above all, its whiskey. The state's refining legacy runs profound, and those searching for a taste should make a beeline for Kentucky Bourbon Country, the brilliant triangle between Louisville, Lexington and Elizabethtown where this prepared soul becomes animated. You'll locate a luring organization of the nation's most notable refineries and first class eateries with whiskey motivated menus.
Yet, this industry isn't so saturated with custom that it overlooks progress – create distillers are opening their entryways, long dead whiskey locale are being rejuvenated, and in 2020 the Frazier Museum will be named the official beginning stage of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
9. Minneapolis, Minnesota
In spite of arriving on arrangements of 'generally moderate' and 'generally reasonable' urban areas – and in a state positioned the USA's most joyful – Minneapolis appears to be a piece overlooked. In any case, after its chance at the center of attention during the current year's Super Bowl, that could very well change. The city endeavored to tidy up for the large occasion, specifically with redesigns to downtown's primary avenue Nicollet Mall presenting awesome light highlights, craftsmanship establishments and creative social spaces.
The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden likewise got a redo, with 18 new works by well known chiselers. Furthermore, Target Center, the city's NBA and WNBA field, got a fan-accommodating $145 million makeover. In the interim, new boutique inns and present day ranch to-table cafés (hefty on neighborhood fixings) are springing up with cool verve.
10. Southeastern Utah Arches National Park's colorful sandstone ranges. Island in the Sky's Colorado River-cut vistas. Landmark Valley's sky-puncturing towers. Southeast Utah's significant milestones have been firm top picks among voyagers for quite a long time. As of late, nonetheless, lesser-realized territorial destinations like the forested levels of the new Bears Ears National Monument have become hot-button news things because of political tussles in Washington, DC over securing characteristic and social assets.
This tremendous quarter of the Beehive State holds numerous outstanding outside objections, from the lodging filled experience town of Moab and uncrowded Capitol Reef to the environmental Ancestral Puebloan vestiges of Hovenweep. Water has slashed the desert scene here, cutting the sandstone into alarming structures, for example, the pleasant Natural Bridges and huge Lake Powell. This is a quintessential Americana excursion nation.
Anjum Khanna launched his career as a freelance illustrator, and this started with covers of paperback books where he developed and displayed his penchant for realistic depictions of fantastic scenery. To achieve this, Anjum often used handmade maquettes and posed models for reference.
About Anjum  Khanna
Those who love fantasy tales and dinosaurs would be great admirers of the works of Anjum Khanna. After all, he's the author of the famous book series about dinosaurs coexisting with humans in a fictional setting.

It should come as no surprise that John Carpenter and Dan O’Bannon were students in the same film class, that they created Dark Star together, and that they both had a great affinity for 1951’s The Thing From Another World. If you put Ridley Scott’s Alien, which O’Bannon wrote, next to Carpenter’s The Thing, the parallels cannot be contended. A group of people, bound together almost exclusively by their careers, are isolated and trapped in their own environment with a murderous monster. One by one, they are picked off by this alien beast and are forced to pull out all the stops just to survive. The tension in both movies is suffocating. The suspense stays well after the credits roll.
So, why did Alien excel and why did The Thing fail?
Alien was heralded as a science fiction-horror masterpiece, raking in over $200 million at the box office. The Thing, although now recognized as one of Carpenter’s best films to rival even the likes of Halloween, barely exceeded its $15 million budget by $4 million. What’s more is that critics panned The Thing almost unanimously after its 1982 release. And to what point?
When you compare the 2 movies, it objectively doesn’t make much sense. When you sit down and watch The Thing, without even thinking of its much more popular predecessor, it still doesn’t quite add up. There is not much I can say about The Thing that hasn’t already been said before. It’s well-known, now - the writing, the acting, the practical effects, the cinematography? Masterfully done. No arguments. So what went wrong?
The most popularly accepted explanation was that it just wasn’t the right year for it. In 1982, The Thing had to contend with the Summer of Spielberg, being critiqued alongside horror giant Poltergeist and science fiction treasure E.T. How could a stark and grim story of distrust and gore stand alongside such beloved classics?
But in tandem with these films and also calling back to the success of Alien, Carpenter cites reception from various focus groups: they hated the ending.
It should be assumed at this point that if you have not yet seen The Thing, you are sorely missing out. All the same, however, be wary of spoilers.
The end of The Thing is bitter, to put it lightly. Childs (Keith David) trudges through Antarctic snow, lit by the burning wreckage of Outpost 31, towards R.J. MacReady (Kurt Russel) who sits alone, already half buried. They observe their inevitable deaths, and drink to the supposed demise of their shapeshifting predator.
A lot is left out to die in the snow.
According to Carpenter, this ending was seen by test audiences as too dismal. And rightfully so, when you take into consideration the other popular releases of 1982. Carol Anne is ultimately saved, along with the rest of her family, at the end of Poltergeist. Elliot embraces E.T. before he finally returns home. And going further back, even Ripley is able to escape the xenomorph by the skin of her teeth and secure herself the title as one of the greatest “Final Girls” ever put to the silver screen.
And what of MacReady and Childs?
Well, that’s up to your imagination, Carpenter told a test audience member who asked who the final host was at the end of the movie.
“Oh, god. I hate that,” they responded.
As a writer, this loose ends style of concluding a story is almost expected from a lot of modern works. It’s written this way in order to haunt the reader, to linger and adhere itself to the real world in the most sardonic of ways. Think Joyce Carol Oates’s “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” or Flannery O’Connor’s “A Good Man Is Hard to Find.” This almost anticlimactic close of the curtain arrived in the literary world long before it found its place in film, but it’s a big point of contention in mainstream criticism.
Dark or incomplete conclusions have been met with the most scathing of responses. Beware the black cutaway of Sopranos fame. Or the near-universal outcry against the third Mass Effect game that grew so much, the developers created a morsel of DLC content that maybe kind of confirmed a more optimistic fate for our dear Shepard.
But even for the horror genre, The Thing seemed unprecedented. The only fate darker to fall upon a mainstream protagonist was Ben’s untimely death in Night of the Living Dead. The tragedy of both movies is palpable - all this trouble to survive against inhuman killers, all this trouble to outlive something gruesome and maybe even make the world a better place, and what was left to show for it?
In short, Carpenter’s science fiction terror was too much of a bummer.
I personally did not take much of a liking to horror until much later in life. My parents didn’t filter the media I consumed as much as they probably should have, and I was scarred early on by movies as cheesy and entertaining as The Lost Boys and Blade. It wasn’t until late adolescence and into college that I set out to catch up.
My roommate at the time of this resolution had been a fan of horror her whole life, her favorites being Halloween, Candyman, and The Thing. Having already known a good deal about the former two, I decided to strap in for The Thing for the first time ever.
These days, I always have several soap boxes on retainer, just waiting for the next unwitting recipient of my usually-beer-induced rants. Brian Jones was killed, Jaws single handedly endangered sharks, banning books is a stupid practice, representation in media is important, etc. Predictably, one of these soap boxes is the general lack of appreciation of The Thing, both at the time of its release and today (it does not even make the top 100 on Rotten Tomatoes’s highest rated horror movies).
And yet, at the same time, if The Thing had achieved the credit it deserved upon release, I may not like it as much as I do today.
I make a point to not read too much about movies I am feverishly anticipating, and revel in the feeling of going into a well-known movie knowing as little as possible. Most of the time, it makes for the best viewing experience, but I’m sure I don’t even have to point this out.
This was my experience seeing The Thing for the first time. I was on winter break, staying at my parents’ house for the holidays. Everyone else had gone to bed, and I stayed up late in the living room, curled up under layers of blankets, content in perfect darkness save for the television.
I had no idea what to expect, as I had not been spoiled by any TV show making any blatant references and had not done any prior reading into the film itself. And I was absolutely delighted from beginning to end.
What stays with me the most is the special effects. It’s true what they say - that practical effects hold up better than CGI alone. And the production team didn’t cut any corners in this department. Stan Winston and his team, who were later responsible for the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, helped construct one of the best animatronics in the movie. Rob Bottin, who brought this constantly-morphing creature to life from conception to every last slimy detail, went on to be hailed as a genius in his special effects career. And there is definitely something to be said for the work of cinematographer Dean Cundey whose masterful control of lighting and framing is best seen in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
The extent of my knowledge of the titular creature was that it was an alien. That it was an alien who could consume multiple life forms and take on their shapes was both exciting and terrifying. There’s creative genius in this premise that thrills the science fiction lover in me, and also fascinates the bookworm in me. I had been a fan of Agatha Christie novels as a teenager, and to see a new and outrageous take on the And Then There Were None structure was incredibly novel to me.
The appeal wasn’t just that there was something out there, lying in wait to torturously pick off it’s victims one-by-one. It was that it could have been anyone.
At its core, horror as we know it has deep roots in whodunnit style murder mystery. With the rise of the giallo and the sensation of the slasher, horror movies of this nature are far from uncommon and can be seen as late as 1996 with the Scream franchise. Carpenter himself spurned a new kind of fear with his breakout success with Halloween by refusing to give a bodily face to its main antagonist. Here, with The Thing, he takes the eponymous killer character to the next level by giving it the genetically inherent function of deceiving its prey. Not knowing the true face of your murderer has proven to be inherently bone-chilling.
Even now, hundreds of horror movies under my belt later and still constantly learning, I keep coming back to The Thing. I really cannot think of another movie in my wide array of favorites that I love more than The Thing, and I truly believe it has everything to do with me not knowing anything about it upon my first viewing. Every other movie I can name on my (similar to the subject) constantly changing top 10 list of most beloved horror flicks was, at some point, spoiled for me in some capacity.
Think of how often the twins in The Shining are referenced in cartoons, of all the head spinning jokes made in reference to The Exorcist. Anthony Hopkins’s portrayal of Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs has become so infamous, that I knew his dialogue (and Buffalo Bill’s) long before I ever saw the movie in full.
I don’t blame these references for ruining these movies. As a super fan, I understand that compulsion to pay tribute. It’s no one’s fault and to their credit that these films take lives of their own. But the repercussions don’t age well in terms of initial viewing experiences.
All that being said, I truly cherish how much I was not exposed to this movie. The unpredictability of the creature and the quiet, looming despair that comes with it create a horror unlike any other.
Although it was a box office flop, The Thing is now a welcome and praised name in both science fiction and horror. Even Quentin Tarantino made it known that The Hateful Eight was primarily inspired on several fronts by Carpenter’s underrated work. However, it has not pervaded pop culture like so many other horror classics have left their indelible mark on film vernacular. And to that end, I hope it remains in that slight shadow of anonymity for all future enthusiasts.

All Good Things… Skip Leg Day Sometimes.
#Blog #Bloggerstribe #AllGoodThings… 7th June 2020
Hello, Chaps and Chapettes and welcome to the only Sunday when you’ll find me writing one of these. “What a lazy so and so you are likely to become for doing so, Scaramouche,” I hear you cry. Bear with me and I’ll explain why, on this occasion, it is quite alright to give yourself a regular rest day.
Tumblr media
(Photo:  https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6qw7ns )
Technically, I’m almost writing this on the 8th June, with ten minutes to go before tomorrow, as I woke up late (2 PM!), had a late-night singing karaoke online with friends from the Brony community and spent a lot of my day chilling, catching up with my mum at a social distance, eating a delicious dinner (my flatmate made shakshuka for the first time) and watching Jurassic Park for the first time. Today has been nice. No responsibilities, no work, no worries!
You might think it was a wasted day. I didn’t write anything until now, I did a little bit of hoovering but in the grand scheme of things that’s hardly a task unless you make it particularly difficult. However, I call it one of the most productive days this week, more so than yesterday when I  spent three extra hours doing some overtime for my paying career. The reason I feel it was such a good day is that it gave me a chance to rest, to recuperate, and to build some ideas for what I wanted out of the week ahead. It even allowed me to play to write this blog, while I was still going to take a day off from it.
You see, you can tire yourself out no matter what profession, hobby or interest you enjoy. You can be doing stocks, shares, legal work, building models, playing computer games, writing, painting, traveling, physical training, the list is endless and yet they all require periods of rest. If you don’t, you risk burning yourself out or creating a negative atmosphere for the thing. You do not want that as it will cause you to disassociate and move on from it or even give up completely and become depressed.
Think back on the things you’ve done in the past, in childhood, at school, or as an adult at work or at home. Were there any times when you were looking forward to something, only to go to town on it for a few days or a week, month or more, and then find it slowly lost its appeal? That is because you put so much energy into the start of the project that you burnt it out completely, thus making any problems become roadblocks rather than challenges to overcome. Rather than your idea being a steady slope to the top, it is a mountain. You can level it off again, but you need to do one important thing, and it comes full circle to what I said at the start.
Tumblr media
(Photo: https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/5-life-lessons-we-learned-from-the-land-before-time )
You need to rest.
The rest will give you many benefits. It will allow you to recharge your batteries, it will let you reinvigorate your passion for the thing you are working on and it will let you come up with new approaches to improving it. The places where most people come up with great ideas and solutions to problems they face are usually when they have to stop and take a moment away. Two particular places are in our bathrooms, well, not solely our bathrooms. You do not have strangers lining up to use your lavatory in order to get a brainwave on the next big invention. However, it has been suggested that many innovators have had their eureka moments in the shower or while sitting on the loo. This is because they have to take themselves away from the forced thinking they were doing at a desk or in an office.
So, if you find yourself flagging, losing the will to do something, or simply getting bored, do yourself a favor. You don’t need to go sit on the toilet if you don’t need it for, ahem, other business, but giving yourself a well-deserved bath can do wonders. Don’t have a bath? A shower can be equally as therapeutic or you can go and meditate if you feel your cleanliness levels are still satisfactory. There’s no secret technique to meditation that must be taught to you by a guru or monk over decades in a monastery, it’s a very simple thing to do.
First, sit down. Somewhere comfortable preferably. Doing that? Good. Now… do nothing. That’s it. It’s that easy. Really! Okay, so there are a few other things you can do, such as take a few deep breaths to regulate your breathing and closing your eyes, but you can meditate with eyes open too. Stare at a wall or let yourself look around if you get stiff but don’t look at anything that will make you worry or feel like you’re not doing anything. Give yourself a time limit so that you know you don’t have to do it forever, otherwise just sit, drift and let your mind ease itself into that comfy chair…
Think of it as training for a boxing match. You could go through a full training montage like Rocky, punch bags, jog up and down the marble stairs of a courthouse, learn how to float like a butterfly, AND sting like a murder hornet or whatever those scary-looking things are. However, you get to the big match, you’re facing your opponent and the bell rings. The crowd is cheering, cameras flashing like a silent lightning storm, you go for your first punch… and it’s lame. Twenty seconds in, your opponent has won and you’re exhausted. Why? Because you spent so much time training that you didn’t give your body or mind a chance to rest and prepare for the fight. Training is important but only as important as the time spent recovering and healing for the next task.
Tumblr media
(Photo: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/jan/10/rocky-in-numbers--creed-sylvester-stallone )
Now, I know nothing about boxing. Earnestly, I know nothing about anything, I’m one human who has had thirty-plus years on an Earth which is four-billion, five-hundred and forty-million years old. I can only offer shavings of what experience I’ve been told, ignored, and discovered is in fact important after all. This, I think, tops the bill, as it helps every other thing you want to achieve.
So my question to you is this, what haven’t you picked up, done or enjoyed in a while? Do you think, after a period of rest, you might have more enthusiasm for it? There’s only one way to find out…
… And that is to chill out.
All good things, Love, Scaramouche. x

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming... No,” I whispered to no one. Speeches make me nervous and you could definitely hear it in my voice. “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for joining us tonight...this evening. Ugh, why do they make me do this?”
“Because Anthony Daniels canceled when it wasn’t all about Star Wars,” Mike answered, grinning. “Relax, you’ve got this.”
“No respect from my concertmaster,” I smirked as he clapped my shoulder.
“So, is the magic man making an appearance tonight?”
“Nope. He’s otherwise occupied.”
Mike laughed. “What does that even mean?”
I shrugged. “It means...he won’t be here.”
“Oh, come on. He can’t pull away from whatever he’s filming for one night to celebrate your 5 year anniversary with us? Loser.”
“Whatever.” I blew out a sigh and looked back over my notes. “Really hate speeches.”
“See, magic man should’ve been here. He likes to talk and the ladies love to listen.” Mike winked and got a smack on the arm for his trouble before wandering off.
He wasn’t wrong. Tom loved to talk and everyone loved his voice, not just the ladies. In the two plus years we've been together, I’d never known him to refuse an opportunity to tell a story - except to hear me tell one. He was the only man I’d ever met that could listen as intently as he does, to make you feel like the entire universe centered around you. Management had actually approached his agent about serving as emcee when Daniels backed out, and they declined, citing a previous commitment. Which was, at the time, a bald-faced lie.
We argued about the timing of this show only a few days prior to the request because the concert was so close to our own anniversary. He had, in typical Tom fashion, made some grand plans involving travel and luxuries and all the things that drove my simplistic heart manic with worry, and hadn’t bothered to check the concert calendar. So, when I told him I couldn’t blow off the fund-raising event of the season, he went ballistic.
And I fired back. How dare he get upset when he’d canceled God knows how many times in favor of an audition? Where did he get off saying that one night wasn’t as important as ‘us’ when he’d confused night after night for his career? It turned really ugly and I ended up flying back to New York earlier than planned because of it. We didn’t speak for a week, and all of our communication after that was strained. Six weeks later, I stopped hearing from him altogether, despite assurances from his mother and sisters that we were still very much a couple. He was deep in some remote area with no wireless signal, they said. I sighed, pushing back tears.
“Two minutes to curtain. Oh, and I’m supposed to tell you that an emcee has been located. You’re off the hook.” a stagehand told me.
“Thank you, God!”
I found Mike walking toward me, making sure everyone was ready to go.
“Conductor,” he nodded, a glint of mischief in his eye.
“Concertmaster,” I nodded back, grinning. Our pre-show ritual complete, he returned to his place in the lineup and the procession began with the welcoming announcement. I watched from the wings as the line of bodies filed into their seats to thunderous applause. The house looked to be full. “Must be doing something right,” I said to the stagehand.
A hush fell over the crowd, followed by the sound of a solid A from Mike. The strings followed, then woodwinds, brass. Mike nodded again. I nodded back, then to the stagehand, who gave his own cue to the booth. I took a deep breath, prayed a little prayer, and strode out on the stage as the house announcer introduced me. I bowed, gesturing to the musicians who were doing all of the real work tonight, and smiled.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage our master of ceremonies for the evening, mister Robert Downey, Jr.”
Bob strode out to the center of the stage, grinning from ear to ear.
I shot the dirtiest look to Mike, mouthing, “You knew.”
He shrugged, then smiled. Jackass.
“Maestra, you look stunning,” I heard beside me. He leaned in for a cheek-to-cheek kiss, lingering a little longer than maybe he should have. “He misses you,” he finally whispered, pulling away.
“Then he should be here.” I croaked. Poor Bob, reduced to a mere messenger boy. “Shall we?”
Being the gentleman that he is, Robert led me to the platform, holding my hand as I made the tiny step up, then returned to the podium on the other side of the stage.
I reviewed the first few measures of the music in front of me while Robert began his speech. He told the audience of his love for the music we would begin the performance with, the “John Williams Suite”. It was an orchestration I’d been working on for months, often to Tom’s frustration. Sheet music tended to consume the kitchen table in my loft apartment, something that was not at all conducive to his attempts to cook for me. I smiled as we began with ‘Indiana Jones’ themes, recalling a particular incident where he walked into the apartment completely unannounced, arms overloaded with grocery bags to find the table had been covered with scores from half a dozen films. He just sighed and went into the kitchen to begin cooking. Another meal on the sofa, he lamented. I simply kept on writing, struggling to get the transition between ‘E.T.’ and ‘Jurassic Park’ just right.
The music followed into the Star Wars medley. Lost in memory, I had to pull myself together enough to get through the rest of the piece. ‘Duel of the Fates’ was no joke to perform, much less conduct. Some of the choir members referred to it as the marathon. The horn players laughed at them until I reminded them that this was the reason why I stretched my arms before every rehearsal. Tom knew when rehearsals were intense by the way I held my shoulders afterward. He’d always massage the muscles, wondering if I was perhaps a bit too animated in my conducting. I’d always ask if he was perhaps a bit too animated when he read the Saint Crispin’s speech. That’s usually when the tickling started.
After a few moments pause for the audience to show their appreciation, and for the orchestra to move sheet music around, we moved into a mix of old and new Star Trek themes, ending with the suite from Into Darkness. There has been a great deal of debate within the group as to which series - old or new - was better, followed by discussions of films, actors, approaches, and which made my little geeky heart happy. Tom had no comment on the matter, despite the fact that his eyes lit up a little more when we opted to watch Ben’s version of Khan instead of the original.
The piece finished and Robert began rambling on about music and film and... I stopped paying attention after a few seconds, focusing again on the upcoming music. One of the stagehands appeared on my right and placed a wireless mic on the music stand. I put it on, thinking I would be expected to say a few words about my time with the orchestra, what an honor it was, blah blah blah.
Celebrate yourself, Tom would say. If anyone deserves accolades, it’s you. My response was almost always, “yeah, whatever,” which would send him into a 20-minute monologue extolling my virtues as a musician and human. I’ve always preferred to let the music speak for itself.
I heard Robert say “This is gonna be fun,” and knew we were up. I’d arranged a medley of Queen songs - Somebody to Love, I’m Going Slightly Mad, Days of Our Lives, and Bohemian Rhapsody. When Mike saw the score for the first time, he asked if I was okay. I just wasn’t ready to discuss the argument, so I brushed the question off with a shrug. “Feeling nostalgic,” I told him. “Besides, I want to show the altos some love.”
The altos later told me that was not the kind of love they were looking for. The sopranos, however, were ecstatic. Divas, the whole lot of them.
Music from the MCU finished out the evening. Black Panther, Thor, Captain Marvel, and all the Avengers films wrapped into 10 minutes. It was supposed to be for Tom. I’d seriously contemplated scrapping the whole section after the fight but the entire orchestra vetoed the idea, citing it as the “entertaining” piece of the evening. I knew that if the musicians weren’t happy, no one was happy, so it stayed but they just wanted to play Immigrant Song.
We’d moved through to ‘Portals’ from the Endgame soundtrack and I could feel the energy of the audience change. They started shouting and clapping behind me. Maybe they’re loving the music with the latest movie having been released. We reached the scripted pause, and I kept going, but the orchestra doesn’t. They just sat there staring at me, and I was suddenly aware of “Loki” being chanted behind me. I glared at Mike, who’s grinning like the Cheshire Cat. That’s when the glint of gold caught my eye. I turned, finally dropping my arms when my mouth follows suit.
Loki, or Tom, in full Loki regalia, strode toward me like a demi-god possessed. The horns sat above smoldering eyes, cape flowing behind him as he approached me like an animal stalking his prey. It took every ounce of self-control I had not to pounce on him in front of God and the globe. I never could resist that costume, and he knew it. Instead, I simply crossed my arms.
“Please,” he growled, the swagger growing, “don’t stop on my account. Summon your Avengers.”
“Bad enough you destroy half of Manhattan with some half-baked scheme to take over the world. Now, you have the audacity to crash my gig and interrupt their music?”
He stopped short, head cocking to one side. I don’t think he was entirely sure if I was serious or just playing along. The infamous smile returned.
“Forgive me. The interruption of the arts is indeed a sin, but the purpose behind my visit warrants such sacrilege.” When I didn’t answer, he removed his helmet, eliciting a new wave of cheers from the crowd. His hair was its natural ginger, long and wildly out of control. He turned to them and held a finger to his goateed lips, a la 2013’s Comic-Con visit before placing the helmet on the stage.
“I have found myself lamenting the loss of something very dear to me of late. Something that I believe you alone can help me recover.” He paused, his voice echoing through the speakers while his hands fell to his sides. “It pains me to admit such shortcomings, but I find that I am weaker without you, that I am lost without your presence in my life. I am heartbroken at each day that passes without the sound of your voice. So,” his cloak flew behind him with a flourish and he fell to one knee. A collective gasp came from the audience and the stage. “My lady, would you consider restoring to me the grace of your life and your love on a permanent basis?”
What the hell is happening? I glanced over at Mike. He and the rest of the orchestra are literally sitting on the edge of their seats. When I turn back to Tom, his arm is extended towards me, a small box with a ring sitting in the palm of his hand. Tom, channeling Loki, channeling King Hal. I was doomed.
“Will you consent to be my queen and my love? Will you marry me?”
His head dropped and my heart leaped into my throat. Time seemed to slow to a crawl while I recalled every fight, every laugh, every moment of passion and joy and sorrow. How could I possibly say yes? How could I not?
The soft sound of a camera lens focusing on me snapped me out of my time stop. He was still on bended knee, his arm shaking a bit. I stepped off of the platform and lifted his chin. For all his eloquence, I could only come up with a single word response.
“Yes.”
Tom jumped to his feet and kissed me as everyone within earshot roared with approval. ‘All I Ask of You’ began to play and I made a mental note to fire then promote Mike later, as I was sure he’d been part of this plot all along. A moment passed in his arms before he finally stepped back, scooping up the golden horns.
“I shall be waiting with white horses, my queen.”
“And here I thought you’d want me to play you out.”
“As long as it’s not ‘Performance Issues’.”
“No promises.” I winked then stepped back onto the platform. “Ladies and gentlemen, shall we skip to the end?” Mike nodded and everyone found their page. I raised my hands and music from the Avengers theme rang out in the park.
Tom bowed to me before he slid the helmet back over his head, turned and walked to the side of the stage where Robert stood, raising his hands in victory when applause followed. I caught them embracing out of the corner of my eye and knew I’d have to give both of them grief later for the first glimpse of ‘FrostIron.’
We made it to the loft long after the final note sounded. There had been a sea of people congratulating me on the concert, the engagement, and everything in between. Tom vanished long enough to de-Loki, much to my disappointment, but stayed right next to me for the rest of the night. When we were finally able to leave, he ushered me out to a white Jag. White horses, indeed.
He zipped through the streets of Manhattan with ease, taking as many backroads as possible to avoid traffic. I took the time to get a good look at the ring, and oh God was it stunning. A large oval stone set on its side with two smaller stones at either end set in a band of polished silver knotwork. Definitely handcrafted and a perfect fit.
“The band’s tungsten. I know how hard you are on jewelry,” Tom said with a wink.”The stones are moldavite, amethyst, and garnet.” he glanced over, a smile on his face. “Us.”
“It’s perfect,” I blushed a little, hoping he wouldn’t notice. “And you’re a dork of the highest caliber.”
That little laugh that drives all the ladies crazy slipped out as he nodded and pulled into the parking garage. Our elevator ride was silent as the family that snuck in just as the doors were closing bombarded Tom with more questions about Loki than I’d ever come up with. It made me think we’d have to take the service elevator from now on.
All thoughts of anything beyond the man wrapped around me vanished as soon as the apartment door closed. Tom spun me around, planting a kiss that went from chaste to passion in point zero six seconds. I heard my keys hit the floor after I missed the end table. He growled when I tried to pick them up, nipping a little harder at my neck, pushing me toward the bedroom.
We were all hands trying to shed clothes on the way. You’d think that as much coordination we had individually, we’d be able to make it look as graceful as it did in the movies. The poor boy got so frustrated that he picked me up, carried me down the hallway, and dropped me on the bed. Shoes and socks off, he stepped closer to unzip my dress while I worked on his pants. The ‘conda sprang free as soon as the zipper fell. Another growl came from above when I wrapped my hand around it, morphing into a moan as when lips added.
The bed dipped to one side a little with the weight of his leg. His hands rested on my shoulders as he tried to steady himself while I rolled my tongue around his cock. I couldn’t see his eyes with his head leaned back, but knew he was lost in the sensations, his hips rocking back and forth. He pulled out suddenly, tugged my hands away and upward to my feet.
Another kiss, slower and more passionate while he finally figured out the zipper of my gown. His hands moved the fabric down, and the frustrated moan came when he remembered just how much effort went into making slinky black dresses look good. He nuzzled and nipped his way across my face and down my neck while he fumbled with the clasps of my bra. I returned the favor, dragging teeth along his neck until I was able to get his shirt open.
What was left of my clothing dropped to the floor in one swift motion when Tom dropped to his knees, pushing me back onto the bed. I slid up the mattress and he followed, kissing and licking his way up my legs. He stopped at my hips, licking upward along the inside of my thigh but never quite made it to the center.
“If all you’re gonna do is tease,” I panted, “then get up here.”
“You would deny me the pleasure of devouring your already dripping quim?” Loki’s voice followed the dark, lust filled eyes that looked up at me. Before I could wrap my brain around my impending demise by god-lust, a finger slid inside me, followed by another. The smirk became a grin and he lowered his mouth to my clit, his eyes never leaving mine.
He growled again as he began to suck, slowly pumping his ridiculously long fingers in and out of my pussy. I tried to squirm away when he picked up the pace and he wrapped his free arm around my leg, locking me in place. I lost count of how many times he brought me to the edge only to back off and begin again. My fingers found their way into his hair, tugging him upward, only to be rewarded with his teeth dragging across my swollen bud.
“Not until you cum,” he purred, still latched on to me. He began thrusting the fingers inside me, curling them around to brush against that little bundle of nerves while he clamped down with lips and teeth. It didn’t take long for my body to shatter beneath him, my orgasm tearing its way out of me with a scream. He anchored me down with both arms, sucking out every last drop I could offer.
When I came back to reality, he was making a slow path up my body, his breath hot on my skin. His lips finally reached mine and I took rough possession of them, wanting to taste him. The tip of his cock brushed against my pussy and I shivered. Tom pulled away a bit.
“Need a bit longer to recover?” he whispered, nuzzling against my cheek.
“Absolutely not.” I pulled him closer to me and shifted a bit, sliding a hand down his stomach. “Only thing I need is you.” My fingers wrapped around his length and guided him inside.
“Oh. My. Go...” The last syllable was lost in the moan that rumbled in his chest. He was completely still above me except the slow thrust to push himself deeper, nearly purring as he went. I moved my hands along his sides and he sighed. “Been too long. Won’t last.”
“Ditto,” I breathed into his ear, “on both counts. Just move.”
Tom obliged, rocking his hips back and forth, moving a little faster with each thrust. I tried to lift my hips to his, but he built a pace I just couldn’t maintain. All I could do was hold onto him, losing myself in the feeling his body in mine and the sounds we made. His moans took on a higher pitch and his thrusts became erratic until every muscle in his body tensed, his seed spilling in waves. Feeling him cum sent me back over the edge, and I could’ve sworn I heard him chuckle as I clamped down around him.
We lay tangled in each other for a while, basking in the afterglow. He finally moved to the side, eliciting a groan from both of us when he did. Ever the gentleman, he let me duck into the loo first while he turned down the bed. Both settled back in bed, I curled up next to him, my head resting on his chest.
“Love?” he whispered, toying with a lock of my hair. “Are you sure?”
“Sure of what?”
“This,” he spoke as he ran his fingers along my left hand to the ring. “I know you wouldn’t have refused me in front of the entire world and half of Manhattan, even if you wanted to.” I lifted my head from his chest to look at him. There was a genuine concern on his face as he sighed. “So, are you sure?”
“You’re serious?” His face turned sheepish. “Then let me answer a question with a question.”
“What? You hate it when I do that!” He sat up a bit and I pressed a finger to his lips.
“Thomas William Loki Adam Hank Henry Robert Freddie Jonathan Oakley Hiddleston the fifth, Lord Nooth, rightful king of the Jotunheim, England, Ireland, Scotland...”
“Okay, okay, enough,” he chuckled. I grinned at him.
“Will you marry me?” His eyes went wide and teared up a bit. He began nodding furiously until I kissed him.
Neither of us slept that night.

Best Friends for Life
So this is my first fic ever and i poured everything into this so hopefully you all like it
Warnings: none just pure fluff
Word Count: 1700+
Summary: You and your best friend(who married your husbands best friend) get the nursery ready for you and Joe’s second child.
Tumblr media
The loud patter of pouring rain slams against the new nursery window. The cloudy weather prevented the shining sun from blinding you as you painted the boring walls a faint hue of yellow. You and Joe decided that you wouldn’t find out the sex of the baby until it was born and you loved how excited Joe would get about the thought of another perfect mix of the both of you running around the house.
Your first born was a spitting image of his father. Elliot had the brightest auburn hair with huge chubby cheeks just like little Joe in one of his earlier movies Unspeakable Acts. Of course he had your eyes and puffy lips but he would always be your mini Joe no matter what. Ever since Joe got his new role as John Deacon, it’s been pretty lonely but Elliot would always fill in to cheer you up when daddy was gone.
The yellow walls were nowhere near close to being finished and Joe was going to be gone for the rest of the week so you decided to call up your best friend Emily.
She was a life saver especially when you had your little 3 year old running at your feet. As much as you loved Elliot he was completely exhausting and you had another one on the way. Emily has a little girl of her own, Arya, which definitely helps entertain the little toddler. The best thing about Em besides your amazing friendship was that she was married to Joe’s best friend and co-star Ben Hardy which made date nights that much more interesting. Their little girl was absolutely adorable and had the smallest blonde curls to compliment her huge green eyes. She was only a year younger than Elliot which made them being friends that much easier.
When Em came over soon after you called, (god that woman is amazing) it didn’t take long for the toddlers to run off and start re-enacting Jurassic Park with all of Elliot’s stuffed dinosaurs Joe insisted he needed. Em figured you would be hungry with being 6 months pregnant and all which made you very emotional (thanks pregnancy hormones). After she laughed for 3 straight minutes of you crying over take out, you both quickly ate and resumed the regular nursery assembling duties like planned.
Joe had already ordered a few things like a crib and the changing table which was a huge help. So Em started putting those together as you finished painting the main accent wall pale yellow, trying to keep the nursery as gender neutral as possible. As much as you wanted to know the gender, you held back and left the life changing envelop from your doctor taped on the fridge.
After about 3 more hours of painting and assembling the main items of the room, Em and you decided to call it a day and just watch a movie with the kids but when you walked out of the room you saw both Elliot and Arya cuddled up together with their preferred dinosaur. As cute as they looked, you still had to move them from the middle of the living room floor, so trying to be as quiet as possible and holding back both of your giggles, you put the kids to bed in Elliot’s room. Elliot got a little fussy so Em went back into the living room to pick a movie while you finished putting Elliot to bed. Even though Joe wasn’t here to sway with you and your sleeping son you still loved moments like these. The hum of the sound machine in the faint background lulled your little one to sleep and you finally placed him next to Em’s little Ben look alike.
When you were walking back to the living room, you couldn’t help but stop and gaze into the bedroom where you wish your husband was sleeping. You missed every part of him so much as the week went on. He only left a week ago and would be back by Saturday but you still missed his little snores. He would usually call by now seeing as it was 9:30 which worried you but you knew he was probably with Ben seeing as Em didn’t get a call from her husband either.
As you not so gracefully plopped onto the couch, your huge belly acting as a table for the snacks Em got for the both of you to share, you both quickly got invested into the movie. I wasn’t surprised that she picked X-Men Apocalypse considering she missed Ben just as much as I missed Joe.
It was about 10:45 now and the movie was half way through. You noticed yourself dozing off when your phone starts to vibrate on the side table. The dim screen showed an image of you and Joe at your wedding 5 years prior. You quickly scrambled to pick up the phone.
“Hi Honey, I miss you.”
“Hi babe I miss you too. How was the set today?”
“It was great! I got to play Another One Bites the Dust live and they said they were gonna use it in the film!”
“That’s awesome babe. We are so proud of you.”
“So how’s my little munchkins. Hope little Elliot wasn’t causing to much havoc today.”
“He was pretty good actually, Em came over with Arya today so he was pretty occupied to say the least.”
“And what about my love, our mystery baby giving you any trouble?”
“None at all, just kicking me like a soccer player in there. Baseball might not be the sport for this one.”
“I beg to differ. Mazzello’s always play baseball.”
“Well this Mazzello has a major punch. Might be a feisty little girl in here.”
“You didn’t look in the envelope did you?”
“No of course not Joey.”
You wanted to look so bad but you knew how much the secret meant to Joe. Joe didn’t know but you told Em to look in the envelope just so someone knew. You couldn’t bare the thought of no one knowing.
“I’m surprised you answered this late babe. I figured you would be asleep by now.”
“You know I can’t go to bed without telling my favorite guy I love him.”
“But I thought Elliot was with you?”
“Babe, you know who my most favorite guys is.”
“It’s Ben isn’t it. Does Em know?”
“Joe!”
“I know, I know. I just miss your laugh. Heck I miss everything about you love. I miss you so so much.”
“I miss you too Joey. More than you could ever know.”
“Well...”
“Joe what did you do this time?”
“Open the door and find out.”
“What do you mean open the door?”
“Just do it.”
“Ok, ok just give me a second to get my huge belly off this couch.”
You get off the couch trying not to wake Em who you covered with your favorite throw. Walking to the door you couldn’t help but wonder what Joe had planned this time.
Did he send flowers again? But at this time of night, that doesn’t sound right.
You reached for the doorknob and slowly cracked the door open only to find your sexy, jet lagged husband on the other side.
“What are you doing here!”
“I couldn’t stand not seeing you for another day! Oh and I brought Ben cause he wouldn’t shut up about how much he missed Em and Arya.”
“Do you blame him? I mean you’re standing here too silly.”
“I never said I wouldn’t shut up about you three either.”
“He’s right it was way worse than me.”
While Joe and Ben were bringing there stuff inside Em heard the door shut and instantly jumped off the couch. She literally fell into Ben’s arms because of how quickly she got up. Joe and I tried to giggle as quiet as possible but it was no use. Joe heard Elliot’s cries from down the hall and went to go get him and calm him down so he didn’t wake Arya. When he came back, Joe was holding little Elliot in his arms with his favorite dinosaur hanging from his grasp and the green blanket Joe’s mother made him draped across his back. It was like you fell in love with Joe all over again. You told Em that her and Ben were welcome to stay in the guest bedroom for the night considering it was almost midnight.
After everyone was settled and almost everyone was asleep in the house again, you couldn’t help but watch Joe as he held your sleeping son by the large glass window that overlooked the city. You could feel a tear slip from your tired eyes as your heart flooded with happiness. These were the moments you never wanted to let go of. You waddled over to Joe and leaned into him as you both now looked at the sparkling skyline of New York. His kisses varying between you and your now snoring son.
“I never want to leave this. You both are my absolute world.”
“Joey we love you so much you don’t even know.”
“I love you both with my entire heart and more. Y/N you are my love. My everything. You have given me this beautiful family. Only to add one more and however many more after that.”
The tears were flowing from you eyes at this point.
“Joe you don’t even know the joy you give me. Our beautiful children. Your love. Trust. Everything. You gave me a purpose. You gave me your heart and love. You are my world. My soulmate.”
As you now lay in bed next to the absolute love of your life, tears running down from each of your cheeks, you knew that life was only gonna get better. Even through the ups and downs Joe was your person. Your one true love. And your best friend for life.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 3 Provides A Welcome Treat For More Mature Jurassic Fans (Non-Spoiler Review)
The third season of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is just around the corner – with a debut date of the 21st of May 2021. The DreamWorks Animations and Universal Pictures teams were kind enough to give The Jurassic Park Podcast a look at the series ahead of its debut, so we wanted to share a non-spoiler review of the series. We will share one spoiler, however – this season was AWESOME!
If you caught my review of the second season of the show, then you will know that I was a little apprehensive about the direction which the series appeared to be taking – but, I was open to the team working on the project to prove me wrong and put my doubts to rest. I am happy to report that the third season of the show did exactly that. It took the time to explore new areas of Isla Nublar, brought in some additional lore which will have wider influences on the Jurassic universe as a whole, and also explored some darker and much grittier story threads throughout the season which I think adult fans are likely to enjoy. The story of the third season is one of desperation – as the Campers plan to escape the island whilst attempting to avoid a new threat which is making its presence felt across Isla Nublar.
The third season’s story really takes the opportunity to explore some fundamental elements of the Jurassic franchise – allowing us to explore certain events and things which may have been happening off-screen during or before the events of the films. I really enjoyed how these sequences added extra context and meaning to moments which we are already familiar with as Jurassic fans, allowing us to revisit these moments and appreciate the extra depth which Camp Cretaceous adds to them. One of my biggest concerns with the third season was how the plot would be handled in terms of its wider implications for the larger story which is taking place as we approach Jurassic World Dominion. I’m happy to report that serious thought has been put into the writing here – finding a way for the story to fit happily within its confines whilst making sense in terms of the wider canon. I was really delighted to see just how hard the team worked to make this fit, and apart from a couple of small moments which contradict smaller elements of the canon, the story itself works really well and feels like a return to the great storytelling present throughout the first season.
The Campers also get the opportunity to see some fantastic growth throughout the third season – with some moments which put them in genuinely challenging and deadly situations that allow for some meaningful growth. The story manages to factor in some of the key elements which many of us face when we are growing up – including things like discovering our own identity – but it does this in a way which complements the story which is unfolding on screen. It’s also worth noting that the growth in the characters isn’t only psychological and emotional in this season. As you can see in the trailers, the assets have been updated to reflect the amount of time which the campers have spent on the island – meaning unkempt hair and dirty clothes are present throughout. The added detail, combined with the emotional development many of these characters undergo in the third season, means that the show helps to provide a snapshot of the real impact that being trapped on Isla Nublar has had.
There is also a lot of variety in Dinosaurs here – with several different animals seen throughout the season, which we really appreciated. As we saw in the trailer, the Dimorphodon from Jurassic World appears in the season for the first time and has some fun sequences which help to remind us of why aerial animals are so terrifying. An assortment of familiar carnivores and herbivores also return throughout the third season – helping to remind us of just how diverse the ecosystem present on the island really is. Alongside all of these expected animals, we also have a couple of surprises which I wasn’t expecting, one of which made me shout out loud with excitement. The show does a really good job of balancing our expectations with new and diverse elements – even if they always don’t make the most sense in the wider context of the confines of the park.
Alongside good variety in Dinosaurs, we also get a good assortment of different locations throughout the season – as well as familiar locations, too. One thing I appreciated was the different weathers and times of day which we got to use to explore some locations, as this meant that some locations got to feel a lot more authentic and therefore complimented them feeling a lot more new, too. It’s safe to say that Isla Nublar is a huge island with lots of unique areas dotted across it, so I really appreciated the opportunity to explore more of that, and to get some insight into the ways in which Simon Masrani opted to run the park. Whilst there are a couple of locations which perhaps feel a little exaggerated due to their location on Nublar, they do provide a welcome change of pace and tone to the story, something which only benefits it as we continue to get deeper into the depth of the real plot points here.
Overall, I am absolutely delighted with Camp Cretaceous Season 3. This season felt like it reigned in some of the more grandiose aspects of the second season – something which felt a lot more grounded, and therefore a lot more appropriate tonally when compared to the other projects within the Jurassic universe. There were plenty of moments when I laughed out loud and had a huge grin on my face watching the show – and I think this is a testament to the amount of passion and love which clearly went into getting this right. There is something for everyone here – from classic call-backs, to action-packed moments and even some subtle nods to the novel – all of which helps to create a season which I am confident will be just as pleasing for adult fans as it will for the younger fans who are growing up with this era of Jurassic content.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 3 is exciting, energetic, scary and nostalgia-driven in many of the best ways – and I can’t wait to see how the creative team behind this season continue to build on it in the future.
