The Crossroads to the beginning. P1
Tw - blood, and mentions of miscarriages
LONG post
"I... just don't think we can do this anymore, Eli. We can't just keep pretending nothing's happened," Michael spoke solemnly as he packed his clothes into his suitcase.
Eli stood by the door, fighting tears back, "you don't have to leave though! We can work things out, maybe-"
"No! ... no, Eli. We've tried working this out for 5 years, but you keep miscarrying! I-"
"Excuse me?! Are you blaming this on me?! It's not like I'm fucking trying to! I want a child just as bad as you do!"
He shouted back, "well it sure as hell doesn't seem like you want a kid!"
"So, you're saying I'm doing this on purpose?!"
"Yes! I don't think you ever wanted one in the first fucking pla-"
Eli slapped Michael hard. Hard enough that it jerked his head to the left, "get. Out."
He put his hand on his face, "Eli, I-"
"GET. OUT. GET OUT RIGHT NOW! LEAVE!" Eli screamed out. Michael jumped in surprise, then scrambled to close his suitcase and left quickly. Eli followed him to the door, slamming it shut behind him. She put her back against the door and slid down until she was sitting on the floor with her face in her hands. She sobbed into her hands before bringing her legs up, hugging them to herself for comfort. Eli didn't know how long she sat there crying, but by the time she got up, it was nighttime. She set a kettle onto the stovetop and walked to the window, looking out on the city... it felt much more empty and quiet now with Michael gone. "What am I going to do...? How am I going to pay rent...? I can't work..." the kettle cut off her ramblings to herself. She poured some of the hot water into a mug and put a teabag into it. Eli made her way to bed, walking by the spare bedroom that was meant for Michael and her baby... that was never to come. When she stood in the doorway of their bedroom, she stared at the empty king bed for a long time before turning around and going to the couch. She couldn't bear to sleep in that bed all alone.
Over the next couple of months, she and Michael got divorced. Which was easier than expected given there was no child to fight for custody of. She had also found out that he had actually been cheating on her for 3 months before he left her. She was pissed, not at the other woman, but rather at him. He was a coward. He was a liar. He never stood by Eli's side after each miscarriage. She was always left to heal by herself, to take care of herself even when she wasn't supposed to be walking and bending. She resented and hated Michael, she was actually happy she never had a kid with him... but she still wanted a child.
The money she saved and the money she got from the divorce helped her pay rent for some months while trying to figure out what she would do for income. One night, she was binge-watching a show with paranormal/supernatural themes and one of the characters went to a crossroads and summoned a demon then made a deal to save another character that was in a coma. Eli sat up slowly and thought, "if... maybe... I can do that... and make a deal for a job..." she grabbed her laptop and changed the channel to something else. She began doing research into crossroad demons, she had heard of them before but only for famous people. While she did research, the news played a recap of the election results... "Gabriel Kenward is the confirmed winner for governor. He and his wife are goi..." Eli zoned the tv out while reading steps on how to go about summoning a crossroads demon. She read up on every single website she could handle, even the ones making fun of people for looking or trying to summon a demon. Her eyelids felt heavy as she was reading a website specifically made for the supernatural practices, she could only read two paragraphs before she passed out on the couch. She felt herself falling in her dream, making her jerk awake. Eli sighed, annoyed, and got up, setting the laptop onto the coffee table. She walked around the couch to the kitchen to get some water, but... something felt off. She paused at her refrigerator and looked around. Everything looked normal but the air felt different for some reason. Eli shook her head and grabbed a glass, putting it in the water dispenser on her fridge. There was a pause... then liquid poured it into her glass before she yanked it away. Eli stared in horror at her fridge before looking at the glass, which had blood in it.
"You going to drink that?" A voice behind her asked humorously. Eli whipped around to see... something... sitting on the kitchen island. It was like her brain couldn't understand what she was looking at. "Didn't your mom tell you staring is rude?"
"I-I... wh...what are you?"
"What you're looking for," it took the cup from her and downed the blood, making Eli shudder in disgust.
"W-What do you mean?"
"Oh please, dear, you can't be that stupid."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me. I'm a demon, idiot."
"I am not an idiot! How the fuck did you get into my house?"
"Hah! I'm not inside your house. Well, not in the traditional sense. I'm in your dream. This is a dream, sweetheart."
"Don't fucking call me sweetheart. What do you want."
"Ooh feisty, I like that. It's not what I want, it's what you want," it jumped off the island counter.
"You are not what I'm wanting to summon."
"Yes, yes, I know. But, I can tell you how to properly summon a crossroads demon. Just be sure to mention me to him, hm?"
"What else do you want?" Eli snapped back.
It held its hands up, "oh, my dear, nothing. I just want to be mentioned. Might get me a promotion."
"... a promotion...? What the fuck? What does that mean?"
"It doesn't matter, just listen..." it leaned into her and whispered.
Eli sat up quickly, the sun shining into the living room and her phone blaring loudly to inform her that her friend was calling. She picked up the phone and talked to her friend for a bit before agreeing to meet up at a cafe. She quickly got ready and called a taxi, thinking about her dream the entire time. By the time she was snapped out of her thought, her friend was shaking her arm. Eli looked at her friend surprised, "what?"
Her friend gave her a concerned look, "how are you holding up? You're really out of it today." She took a sip of her coffee, "like... what's goin' in your brain right now?"
"What would you want if you made a deal with a crossroads demon?"
"Oh, you finally got to that episode? Hmm... money or fame. What about you?"
"To be in good health and have a fun and fulfilling career..."
"Huh, don't you want a kid still? I thought you'd ask for something like that," she froze for a second. "Sorry, that came out wrong. I-"
"No, no... you're right... I never thought of that..." Eli sat back in her chair and idly sipped at her frappe.
"Uh... anyway... h..."
Eli had zoned out for the rest of the day until night fell. She gathered everything she needed to summon this... demon... The idea of summoning a demon made adrenaline pump through her body. She wasn't sure if it was fear or excitement... or maybe both? Eli put everything in a bag and grabbed a butcher's knife before heading out. She looked at her cellphone GPS where she marked down a crossroads that was relatively outside of town and away from busy streets. Eli shoved the butcher's knife into her bag when the taxi drove up to her. Eli showed the man where she wanted to go and he gave her a weird look that said 'ok but why?' He took her to where she said and asked her as she was walking into the dark, "are you ok lady? Are you sure this is where you wanted?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Leave," he quickly left as Eli made her way crossroads. She opened a box she brought. "Ok... to do this successfully..." She took out the knife and took a deep breath before cutting her thumb a bit, smearing the blood onto her own photo and onto the white yarrow flowers. Eli closed the big and dug a hole, burying the box in the crossroads.
Nothing happened for a bit, making her the slightest bit embarrassed, but her body got the chills like something was behind her. Eli was the type to hate being scared in such a manner, so, not caring that this was probably a demon, she spoke, "I swear to fucking God, if I turn around and you are right behind me, I will not hesitate to punch you." She heard a quiet chortle and then some steps backing away from her. Eli was prepared to see something monstrous and scary, but... this guy was... normal looking? It looked just like a man in a nice suit with silvery-white hair.
"You actually did this in a proper way... so I guess I can't trick you too much... how may I be of service, love?" His eyes flashed red for a moment and he gave a sharp-toothed grin as he leaned back into a tree.
"Love? Did you just call me love?" The demon nodded, "don't fucking call me that, you mean nothing to me. You are only a means to an end."
"Oh my, so rude to somebody who's just tryin' to help," he looked slightly taken aback by her blatant honesty but tried to keep a straight and cool face. "Who told you how to do the summoning correctly? It's a rare treat."
"I don't fucking remember its name. It was a demon that came into my dream and told me to do it this way."
"Ohhh, my friend... well... I guess I did promise him a promotion if he got someone for me... anyway! What is it you need?" He pushed himself from the tree and took a step towards Eli, an evil look of amusement in his eyes. Eli held the knife like she was ready to fight someone to the death, "love, even if I wanted you to kill me or severely injure me, you wouldn't be able to. Humans can only exorcise demons and harm them with religious artifacts."
"I don't give a shit, I'm putting up a fight whether it matters or not," she said through clenched teeth. He continued walking towards her nonetheless, making her back away slowly until, in the most cliche way possible, she felt a tree blocking her path backward. He got up close, his body touching her body, and looked down at her with a smile.
He grabbed her chin and made her look at him, "did you just summon me here to fuck around with me, or are we making a deal, dear?" He grunted and looked down, seeing the knife stab into his left side. He looked back at Eli with amusement, "I told you, you can't hurt me. You have no power in this situation. Also, this was a brand new suit, ya know, now I have to take it in to get it fixed."
"Let me make it more expensive for you then," she took the knife out of his side and stabbed him again in a different spot. Then she took it out again and cut his shirt, cutting him in the process.
"Stop," he spoke aggressively, her antics starting to get on his nerves. He pushed himself away from her and looked down at his ruined suit, "are you fucking kidding me? Come on."
"Don't get into my space without consent then," she snapped.
"Humans and their consent... jeez..."
"Excuse me? Listen here you little shit," she marched towards him. He took a step back in surprise by her boldness. Eli was so much smaller than he was AND she was just a human, so why was he slightly scared? "Consent is important to have, it makes it so both parties are enjoying whatever they are doing. If one party says no, it means no. Say, 'no means no', right now."
"What on this forsaken p-"
"Say it. Right now," she held the knife up at him. There was silence between them, just eye contact. They stared at each other for a long time... it could've just been 30 seconds or it could've been 10 minutes. Time was insignificant to the demon and the human before him didn't seem to care either. She was going to keep going. Nothing was going to stop her from whatever her goal was, not even him being an asshole.
Holy Hell... she's... beautiful... what the fuck...? He thought to himself. "No means no," he finally spoke and broke the eye contact.
"Damn right," she only slightly lowered the knife, watching him with suspicion, which she had every right to do.
"L-Look, lady... I do not have any intentions of doing anything to you. Not anymore, at least. Just... what do you want?" He spoke softly to her.
"I want..." she lowered the knife all the way down. "I want a child."
He choked on nothing, "w-what!? A- what?! A child?! You could literally have a bunch of money or fame or the love of your life or-"
"I want to have a child," she spoke more sternly and with determination. He was beyond confused. Usually, humans always wanted the same things; money, power, love, etc.... but a child? He's never heard a human ask for a child. Having a child because she wants to bring a new life into the world... was that selfish? Humans are only selfish beings... was there selfishness in this request?
"But why? Just go have one yourself or like-" he stopped speaking, seeing tears in her eyes. "I-It's not-! It's just-! Fuck! I don't know!"
Eli sniffled, "do you really think I haven't tried to have a child of my own? Do you think I would just summon a demon just because I could? You have no idea what I've been through to have a child of my own! I-"
Suddenly arms wrapped around her, strong arms that felt... comforting and held her close, "I-I... You're right... I-... I have no idea what you've been through. But... I can tell that death follows you... so, I can gather an idea of what's happened... but I can't ever truly understand how you're feeling." He made a surprised sound at himself. Why was he comforting a human? Why was he being so nice? He was nearly 6,000 years old and here he was... hugging and comforting some human woman he's just met. He expected to be stabbed by Eli again, but nothing happened besides the sound of the knife clattering to the dirt. Now was his chance. He could do anything to her and she... 'no means no... no means no... no means no...' he repeated in his head. He felt her face shove into his chest and heard her sob loudly. He looked up above the trees at the stars and the moon, some clouds drifting by slowly. The demon rubbed her back idly while glaring at the sky. 'What are you doing to me. What are you planning', he thought into the air, directed at the big man himself. After some time, Eli pulled away and apologized, "no, no... you don't have anything to apologize for. I-If anything... I should be apologizing to you."
"Hah... a demon apologizing..." she sniffled and bent down to pick the knife up, he put his hand onto hers, keeping her from lifting it.
"I'm sorry," he said to her quietly and then took his hand away. She stood up and looked at him with surprise, but there was still suspicion in her eyes. Eli slowly put the knife away into her bag while watching him carefully for any movements. He looked down to the ground, "I don't intend on harming you in any way, but I understand why you're suspicious of me... I still want to grant your wish, so to speak... make a deal."
Eli perked up, eyes wide, "w-wait, really?"
"Yes... I'm sure it's against the rules though... but... I'll just break one rule. For you."
"So... I get to have a child... one that'll live a good long life?"
"I cannot guarantee the good part, but a long life I can."
"What is the ultimatum? 10 years?"
"Ah... see... that's the issue... since I'm breaking the rules for y-this... I have to cut it down to 5 years... n-now I-"
"Deal."
"Excuse me? We haven't even talked about how and when and all that other stuff."
"I don't care, just... deal. I'll take it."
"It's really reckless to just run into a deal without finalizing everything first. A demon could pull tricks and make terrible rules..." he put his hands together and then slowly opened them, a scroll appearing in flames in his hands.
"Well... are you going to do that?"
"No," he untied the scroll.
"Alright then... where do I sign?"
"W-What? You're just going to believe me just like that? What if I'm lying? I'm a fucking demon for hell's sake!"
Eli stared into his eyes for a short while before bringing them down to the scroll, "I trust you."
The demon stared at her for a while, feeling his non-existent soul swell, "...alright... so be it... sign here with your blood." She nodded and took out the knife, it still had black demon blood on it. She poked the tip of her pointer finger, using it as a way to sign. After she finished, the demon looked at her signature, "Elisa... a very nice name... joyful... it seems about right."
"Just call me Eli. What do you go by?"
The demon rolled the scroll closed, tying it up once again, then making it burst into flames, "the deal is done. Just... call me Sam."
"Alright, Sam it is then... what happens now?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like... how am I going to have a kid? It just happens or like..."
"A-Ah, right... in the traditional way humans have children."
"Should I go to a club, a dating app, or like... what?"
Sam felt the hairs on his neck stand up, "no! er... I mean... a club would probably be the best fit..."
"Is it already determined who's going to be the father?"
"You see, this would've been stuff to talk about before you signed the deal. Well... nnnnnnnnnoo-yes. Yes, the father is already determined."
"Can I ask who it is? Like what's his name?"
"You'll know it when you see him."
"...Alright..."
"Why are you not afraid?" Sam blurts out. He clears his throat, "I mean... like not afraid to go into the dark, in a place you don't even know, and summon a fucking demon."
"I don't have anything to lose," Eli said flatly. Sam winced slightly, "I need to get home. It'll be a long walk home... thank you for helping me even though I stabbed you a couple times."
"N-Now wait a second. You don't have a ride? Or a car? What about a taxi or whatever that taxi service thing is called on your cellphone."
"It uh... it died. I'm just walking... I don't drive either, so," Eli shrugged and turned away, about to make her way out of the trees. Sam grabbed her arm and pulled her back, accidentally(?) a bit too close, "what the hell? Let me leave."
"No! I... I'll take you home. There are weirdos and bad people driving at night on the highway, I can feel the sin..." he lied.
"What? ... I... uhm... I guess... but how are you going to take me home? I don't imagine you have a car, do you?"
"No, I have something better. I'm a fucking demon. Er... may I hold you closer for safety reasons?"
Eli raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms, "just don't try anything with me."
"I won't," he took a deep breath, pulling her closer to his body while he repeated 'no mean no' in his head. He closed his eyes, "close your eyes and don't open them until I say so, no matter what you hear." He opened his eyes and looked down at her, she had her eyes squeezed shut. He nodded and mover his left art out and forward, holding it above his head before making a slow cutting motion downwards. A rip in reality formed, the inside of the rip showed hell and its lovely glow of flames. He stepped into the rip while holding Eli as close as possible, "do not open your eyes." He repeated as the sounds of screaming and torture began. She buried her face into his side and started holding onto him as well. Again, his non-existent soul swelled up and he gave Eli a comforting squeeze. Sam successfully made it to the other rip that was made without running into any other demons. He stepped through that rip and looked at a door to a house he presumed was Eli's house. "You can open your eyes."
Eli peeked an eye open, "where..." she looked at the door, "home... where did you take me?"
"What do you mean?"
"The screaming place," she pointed behind her and started to turn.
Sam panicked, sealing the rip shut immediately, "You can't look at it! It's dangerous! It could damn your soul, trap you there, all sorts of things could happen!"
"Why would that matter? Am I not damned anyway for making a deal with you? I know I go to hell after the 5 years are up."
"W-Well yes... but no... I... If that happens you won't have a kid!"
"Fuck... yeah..." she looked down at the ground, a small smile playing on her lips, "this isn't like some fucked up dream right?"
"N-No. What? Why would it?"
"It just feels unreal..." Eli pulled out of Sam's hold and walked up to the door, digging the keys out of her pocket. Sam reached out slightly, her not noticing at all.
"Well... it's real... I'm glad you're happy," he followed after her.
She unlocked the door and started turning around, "I really am... I really am happy." Eli jumped slightly and looked up at Sam who was behind her. They stared at each other for a long time before he dove in and kissed her, pushing her slightly against the door. Eli's eyes widen in surprise before closing them and kissing Sam back. She reached behind her and grabbed at the air for the door handle, finally getting it and opening the door. They pulled away from each other, both of them flustered, "t-thank you, S-Sam... maybe see you again?"
"A-Ah... y-yeah... of course..." he rubbed the back of his head, "I'd... I'd love to see you again..." He knew it was against the rules to see her again. But... what's two broken rules to a list of nearly 400? He started walking down the stairs. She gave a kind smile, closing the door slowly before pausing and opening it again.
"Sam."
"Oh! Yes?" He turned around, surprised to see her at the top of the steps, eye level with him.
Eli grabbed his tie and pulled him to her slightly, "come here."
"O-Oh? Oh! Ohhh..." he let himself be dragged into the house. "Eli... is this... like... I don't want to get the wrong idea... but..."
"Maybe, play your cards right," she said playfully, still pulling him by the tie. "Take your shirt and coat off," Sam did so quickly, handing them to her, "go sit in the kitchen." He nodded and went there as she did whatever with his shirt and coat. She came out with a white box and walked over to him, "you said I couldn't hurt you because I'm human, right?"
"Yeah... physically."
"Well... that doesn't matter to me. I don't care if you heal faster than normal or it doesn't hurt or anything. It's the principle of the matter," Eli opened the box and pulled out some first aid supplies.
"Eli, you don't-"
"I want to! I... I want to," she got a wet washcloth and started cleaning the dried black blood. The room was in comfortable silence for a good long time before Eli broke it, "I'm sorry for stabbing you twice, cutting your chest, and ruining your new suit..."
"Yo-"
"But you kind of deserved it."
Sam blinked and looked down at her, she was concentrating on the left side stab wound. He laughed, "yeah... I kind of did." He watched her work carefully as they made idle conversation. She was treating him like a person and not some creature that could tear your body to pieces... and he... kind of liked it. Demons never really talked to each other, let alone have personal conversations. Sam put his hand on his chest in surprise, feeling a throb of something or some emotion he's never felt before or hasn't felt in a very very long time.
"Are you ok?" Eli looked up at him with... worry in her eyes?
Sam tore his eyes away from her, "Eli, I need you to get away from me, right now." He warned.
"But, I'm just trying to help you. Why are you getting hostile?"
"Eli, p-please, get away from me. Please. I don't want to hurt you."
"Now you're threatening me?" She stood up and crossed her arms, "in my own house?"
"Eli, you aren't understanding what I'm saying. I need you to get away from me. For your own health and safety," Sam started shaking. "Please, I'm begging you."
"Tell me what's wrong. What's happening?"
"For fucks sake, Eli!" He got off the chair and took a step towards her, "I need you to... get... away from me... right now. Go! Get out of my sight! Hide!"
"H-hide?" Eli took a step back and looked at Sam closely, "o..oh... Oh!" She spun on her heel and ran down the hall and to the master bedroom. 'Ok... closet... no that's too obvious... bathroom... again too obvious... this is so stupid,' she thought to herself as she starts dragging herself under her bed. She gets into a comfortable position where she is one-hundred percent under the bed with no extremities poking out so she'd get yanked out like some horror movie. She steadied her breathing and waited... and wait...
...and waited
.........and waited...
She started getting tired and her body was aching from the way she was laying under the bed... but everything seemed clear. Maybe he was good now? She very slowly, inch by inch, as quiet as possible, pulled herself out from under the bed. She sighed once she was free from under the bed and got onto her hands and knees to push herself up. A sinister laugh came from behind her, "I was wondering how long you were going to stay under there."
She slowly turned around, seeing Sam laying on her bed, "S-Sam...? How did you get in here and onto the bed without me knowing?"
He shrugged, "I'm a demon, love. We have our ways."
"Sam, please... let's just go back to the kitchen so I can finish-"
"Mm, no," he stood up.
"Sam... please..." She slowly stood up.
"You're driving me crazy, you know that? What are you doing to me? What are you planning?" He walks up to Eli and pushes her back onto the floor easily, putting a foot on her chest to keep her down, "tell me."
"I-I'm not doing anything! I'm just trying to be nice!"
"Nobody is nice for no reason. What do you want?"
"There are people who are nice for no reason other than to m-" he pushed his foot down to make her stop talking.
"You are somethin' else, aren't ya?" He drops down to the floor to join her there. Sam reaches over to touch Eli's face, but she swats his hand away. He then grabs her wrist, her other hand coming and trying to get his hand off, only for him to grab that hand too, "just let me show you affection."
"No! Let go of me!" Eli shouts at him, trying to kick him. Sam moves and sits on her thighs, pinning each hand in its perspective side by her head.
"Why?" His eyes were wide and glowing in the dark, his pupils were dilated to their fullest amount as he looked down at Eli.
"Because I said no! No means-!"
"No. No... No!" Sam let go of Eli and threw himself off of her, wildly rubbing his eyes, "fuck! God damn it! Fucking... I'm sorry, Eli... I'm sorry... fuck, I'm so stupid."
"What is the fucking hell was that?!"
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry... fuck..." Sam stood up and kept rubbing his eyes, "this hasn't happened in 4,000 years..." He walked over to Eli, holding his hand out.
Eli hesitantly took it, Sam pulling her up, "ok, but what was that."
"I... in the past... it's only happened once to another woman... I... I killed her because I couldn't control myself. I was only 1,900 years."
"So, you would've killed me?"
"I'm sure you'd probably want to die after what happens..."
"What would have happened?" Sam gave her a look, "Oh... right... yeah... but why would I want to die?"
Sam laughed nervously, "let's not Uhm... talk about what happens, ok? It's... I... no, let's not talk about that."
"Uhhh..." Eli gave him a side-eye, "alright then... we won't talk about it... for now." Sam nodded and stared at the ground, "come on... let's finish cleaning your stabs. I would've stabbed you again if I had a knife."
"I know..." Sam said. Eli took his hand and dragged him to the kitchen, "why are you not kicking me out of your house?"
"I'll do that after I clean everything up," Eli looked back at him with a smile. Sam just stared for a moment before giving her a genuine and kind smile.
She changed him and he could feel it by the pounding in his chest.

Good Timing - S.R (10/10)
Tumblr media
Summary:  The music always starts at 5 am every morning since your new neighbor moved in leading to your dog promptly as soon as he wakes up. What will you do with that time spent with him? (Modern!Reader/Steve Rogers)
Prompt: The guy living below me has a really loud alarm clock that always wakes me up at the crack of dawn.
A/N: This is for @sebashtiansatan ‘s writing challenge. i’m sorry that it took awhile, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it!
Feedback is always welcomed.
Ollie leaves his little apartment and Steve is at a loss for the next two weeks.
It’s takes him awhile to realize of this loss though. He had been excited over the fact that there was a little girl and her dad that wanted to see Oliver during an upcoming adoption event, and Steve was sure that sure that they were going to love the little scamp either way.
“He’s the sweetest thing,” he remembers you saying to the mother and stepfather who were a bit more on the cautious side, as they watched him interact with Sugar, “All the neighbors love him and even Sug too, though that took him a little more work.”
All three adults look at you and then at the girl --Cassie, if he remembers correctly-- getting along with the two dogs. Then, they look at Steve since he was the one that actually took care of him.
“She’s right,” he feels himself saying, but he isn’t quite there as well, “He does great in any situation. I’m sure they’re gonna be great pals.”
The mother leans down to take a closer look at Oliver and that’s when he does it -licks her and lets out a happy, welcoming bark. The scene all melts from there as the family soon welcome its newest member into the mix, while also patting and greeting Sugar as well.
“They love him,” you whisper to his right side, as Steve can only nod while watching the heartwarming scene as he feels a small lump in his throat that stops him from talking completely. He feels something slip into his hand and grasp onto it tightly as Sugar sits at his feet.
“He’s gonna be so happy,” you try your best to reassure him, as Steve sees the family keep loving on the little dog that for a short time was his best pal.
You aren’t surprised that Steve doesn’t show up the following day after he had left your apartment that evening he had given Oliver to his new, permanent family. As much as, Steve hadn’t wanted to admit it, he had grown close to the little fella in a very short amount of time.
Sugar whines at the front door once more, as if trying to catch your attention.
“Come back to bed, Sug,” you state while grabbing your mug of coffee,”I don’t think he’s coming today.”
She lets out a sad whine, before following you to the back of the apartment for more naps and cuddles.
While, deep down you were hoping to share some time with him, you also understood that Steve needed some time to handle everything on his own as well.
“So...is this about the dog or the young lady, Steve?”
“....”
“Ah, both then.”
And thus with a little help, Steve is finally able to settle his thoughts about everything and for once in a very long time, he knows how he wants to move forward in life.
You can’t help but wonder if this was how Steve felt when he didn’t see you in that one week, however that also meant you thought that he was in love with you. And over the course of your time with him and Ollie, you thought that your feelings might be mutual -- you shared your apartments and time. You talked about your dreams and fears late into the night. He and the pup had become a fixture in your apartment through different times through the day, almost everyday.
But now, you weren’t so sure. maybe , it had just been the idea of having the two dogs together, that you were helping him with Oliver that set the happy make believe that you could be together -- that you could see yourself like this...with him for a very long time.
There wasn’t anymore late night visits, any morning texts or messages, there wasn’t even any loud music to brother from up above.
Steve had left just like he has entered your life and you weren’t sure how to do in the aftermath of it all, but you were sure that as long as you had Sugar --like you always did-- everything was going to be alright.
It’s goes on like this for a month between work and taking Sugar out to new places, you don’t really find time to be at home and while you hate it -- you have new memories with her and the others that you care about. Hell, you had even gone to see Ollie and Cassie twice now, much to Sugar’s displeasure. However, there was still no sign of Steve -- that was until one fine Saturday morning.
Like always, Sugar notices it before you though, as she wakes with excited barking and shuffling around the front door as you let out a yawn -- still too tired to fully understand what was going but knowing that Sugar wouldn’t stop unless you did what she wanted.
“Hold your horses, Sug,” you yawn out as she lets out what almost sounds like a yip in your hazy brain.
Once you open the door, it takes you even longer to comprehend that Steve is standing there a little worse for wear in his familiar outfit of sweats and a hoodie, but his hair was longer and he was now sporting a beard. He gives you an awkward and timid smile, as Sugar’s need for attention brings him down to her level.
You stand there confused, unsure of what is going on until he gets back up again and his eyes are all on you.
“Hey,” he manages to say as you echo it back to him, “I was wondering if we could take Sugar for  a walk today.”
“I--” you stutter out, ready to reject him out of fear and a mixture of emotions you still aren’t used to handling, but Steve seems to notice that as well as he cuts you off.
“Just a talk, please,” he adds with a tone of desperation and longing you aren’t used to from the man, “There’s a lot I want to explain and if you don’t like what ya hear...then I’ll never bother you again. But, please.”
At least he knows that he is on thin ice, though maybe not fully understanding that a simple talk wasn’t going to fix anything you guys had had before Oliver had been adopted -- you were to afraid to question those feelings and his all over again. However, as you glance at Sugar --her tail wagging and her eyes full of adoration for the man-- you knew that you had to take a page from her book and at least give him a chance.
“Could you wait in the living room while I get ready?” is all you say before opening the door a bit more and letting the man in, though he gets the feeling he isn’t allowed anywhere -- you had closed off your home to him, but at least you hadn’t such the door on his face like he thought you would.
Without another word, you go back into your room and leave Steve to sit on the couch with Sugar to get ready to pounce on him when he does -- if only everything was just that easy.
You end up talking a long walk around one of Sugar’s favorite parks -- not the one with the large puddle but the one with the friendly dog coffee just across the street. Though, Steve in a mess of nerves starts talking before you even reach the place, settled on a bench with the perfect amount shade as you watch Sugar play with some of the other dogs.
You’re staring at her when Steve starts talking -- about the his mom, the war, and a lot of other things that seems to muddle together in his nervousness. However, his blue eyes are always on you -- watching how you take everything in without any judgement and even a small hint that you might understand him and this unbearable fear he has of being alone but pushing people away all at the same time.
“It came back when Ollie got adopted,” Steve goes on to talk about the beagle puppy, “All the fear came rushing back and I needed to pull away, though it wasn’t right for me to do so without telling you.”
You frown, but you understand him a bit too well since you had done the same thing as well. If you really thought about it, you both were just lonely people starved of human interaction. It was luck that you had found each other, but to make it all work -- well, that required a lot of work from both your ends.
“Steve,” you start off and he swears his heart jumps just a little at the sound of his name from your lips, “Why are you telling me all this? What do you want? ”
He smiles at as he turns to look at you -- really look at the way your skin colors takes in the sun, how sleep deprived you are from working so many others, how you closed yourself in but still held a sympathetic look in your eyes. There were so things he knew, but there was so much more to learn as well. And he would be willing to take all the time in the world to do so, if you let him.
“I’m tryin’ to say that I wanna spend time with you and Sugar again,” Steve explains as he takes your hand into his and rubs your knuckles with his thumb, “I don’t wanna keep losing the precious things I have because I was afraid. Gotta take life and make it my own for once.”
“If you have me as a friend, I’ll be okay with that,” Steve answers back in the softest voice possible, “But I’ve realized that that I really like you and I wanna try this with you, if you’ll have me,”
Your mouth drops for a second, as he keeps looking at you earnestly and in the moment you know that Steve is being honest and that even though it might hurt, he was ready for your rejection. And while you knew it was at the time of your tongue, you had also realized that Stevee made a point -- you couldn’t live in a bubble your whole life and even if he didn’t know it now he had certainly opened it for you since the day you had heard that too loud music from the upstairs apartment.
You let out a small laugh and grasp his hand a little together, “I wouldn’t mind if we take is slow and steady.”
A beautiful smile blooms on his face as he nods, “Anything you want.”
You nod and seal the deal with a peak on the cheek before bursting in a nervous fit of laughter with him. Sugar -dirty but still full of energy- running over to you in excitement over the noises you were making, understanding that her humans were once again happy with each other, though maybe a little mad at her once she shakes and gets mud on their clothes.
And maybe on way back to the apartment, you’ll take a detour to Clint’s or maybe that dog cafe if they allow dirty patrons. Surely, you’ll talk and laugh along the way as you talk about Oliver and Cassie while Steve thinks about fostering another dog a little the road.
It was awkward but you would surely get there because you had each other and Sugar along for the ride -- the timing might be a little rough, but it would lead to nothing but happy and loving memories...you both knew that now.

DRABBLE! Based off a dream i had a couple of days ago about some really shippy shit between Gill and Rony but in the FBI AU me and Ronymun made a little while ago. I also added stuff we’ve discussed before to understand the context of my dream! (this ended up longer than i anticipated)
Rony belongs to: @skelehomie
Enjoy!
Gill and Rony have been partners for a while, at this point. It’s been more than a year, actually. He was knew, she’s been in the department for some time. Honestly, time sure flies.
He thought they were pretty close, friends, probably. No, they were. They woundn’t hang out so much outside of work if it weren’t for that. Somehow it got to a point where he actually had feelings for her. She may have been excrutiatigly difficult at first, with that facade of hers, but it was always a pleasure to see her real self, outside of work. Way more relaxed, funny, pretty, strong in every way, kind and-
Jeez…
Anyway, he’s been trying to figure out how she feels about him for some time. It was a little difficult as she was still pretty reserved and acted very strangely sometimes. He really couldn’t understand her until- that day.
He randomly saw her on his way to his usual bar when he was off and she was busy. She was outside a restaurant, with another man, possibly dating. He didn’t really feel jelous, but it didn’t stop his heart from hurting. It was inevitable. Still, he just wanted to drop by and say hi, but as he got closer, able to hear their conversation, she suddenly got up. He though she might notice him, so he reflexively went in an alley nearby to still hear their conversation but, out of sight.
*”I’m sorry, but I don’t think we can go further than this… I think… I like someone else.”
The man pleaded her to stay, saying that he could probably do better. Of course, she refused. It would make anyone be even more firm on that decision after hearing bullshit like that. However he was persistent and she was getting less PATIENT with this man.
* “You do realize that spewing fake promises will only make me get further away from you, right? You think I don’t know your type?”
“And you think your Prince charming isn’t?” * “YOU don’t know him, I do. He’s not the type to talk bullshit, way more honest then you’ll ever be.”
Don’t even think about it, Gill. It’s not you, that would be stupid.  Stop thinking about it. Stop!
“So if he’s as perfect as you deem him, why aren’t you two somewhere else having fun in a bedroom?” * “FUCK YOU! How the fuck are you supposed to get a women with shit like this!? Is all you men ever want is to control a woman or have them as sex trophies!?”
“Hey, bi-” * “No, I’m not fucking done. You’re fucking lucky I’m not going to kick you in the fucking balls right now and I’m leaving. But, just so you know, I work with him almost everyday and we have gotten in fights, but he’d NEVER fucking go as low as you. Scum.”
Shit… it’s him. Literally, seconds later, he decides to show himself, when the guy had stormed off. She looked startled seeing him.
*H-Hey… are you okay? * “… O-Oh, hey, Gill… and I just… want to get out of here. You wanna go somewhere for dinner?” *… Didn’t you eat? he asks her, worried. * “No… I was outside the whole time.”
He thought this was after her date, but it seemed like she stopped it before it actually happened. But, still… Shit.
He waited, for almost a week after the events. He thought maybe she would finally tell him, but in vain. He even tried to maybe nudge her to it, but it vain. She was so stubborn about it, it frustrated him. He didn’t understand why she couldn’t tell him. Should he just be more direct? Probably. He should just tell her instead of waiting on her. But… it was so frustrating that she kept denying it like that even though he is almost clear about him being interested. Well, more like, completely swept away by her but, still. He decided to be more direct, the next time they met up.
*Hey, Rony. Remember when I randomly stumbled across you? Well… I kinda saw and heard you when you were with that guy. * ”O-Oh… I didn’t even notice. Were you spying on me or something?”
She chuckled awkwardly, trying to make it out as a joke. He did kinda feel bad for snooping in, even if it was a coincidence.
*I mean… I wasn’t tryin’ to but… I did hear somethin’ that surprised me. * “… W-What?” she asked nervously. *That other guy you said you liked, who is it? * “Why do you want to know?” she asked, putting up her defences. *… I mean, he sounds familiar…?
He didn’t know what to say and blurted that out. However, he could see that she was nervous, perking her lips a little, looking sideways.
* “I dunno what you’re talking about… but… someone sounds jealous.”
She tried to hide her nervousness with another joke, chuckling to herself.
*… Well, I dunno about that, heh. But… I’m interested and I think I have an idea who that is.he admits. * “Hah, really? Who?”she didn’t think he’d guess. *… Me.
Her eyes widened, really, she really didn’t think he would guess correctly. She didn’t know what to say? Should she keep denying it or should she go through with it? She was afraid, so very afraid. She didn’t want to be hurt by his rejection. Or, worse, she didn’t want to end up in a relationship with him and get hurt in the process. She’s not even one-hundrend percent sure, anyways.
* “I’m sorry… I really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
That wasn’t what he wanted to hear at all. He couldn’t believe she still wasn’t going to budge. He knows she does this to protect herself, but what is there to protect herelf from this? Did she somehow still not trust him? The thought only upset him even more.
*I don’t believe you. * “…! Why?? *Because, Rony… I’m not stupid. Not many people fit that description. And I’ve been noticing how odd you’ve been actin’, Rony, around me. Listen… I- * “Stop. I won’t say it again, Gill. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe you thought, but it’s not the case. I’m sorry, I don’t… like you like that.” she denied. *… Are you fuckin’-
He can’t believe this. She was really going to do this? He didn’t even have the time to say what he wanted. Even if he did, would she even believe him, at this point, considering how stubborn she’s being? Honestly, he didn’t care anymore. Not right now anyway, he was way too frustrated to continue. He needed to cool off.
*Fine, I wanted to talk about this, but apparently you think I’m actually stupid enough to believe you. I don’t like calling people liars, but I even less like catching someone actually lying to me, Rony. he says, very irritated. * “Fine… Do what you want, Gill.” she sighs, annoyed. *I need to cool off, so I will, thank you. * “Good.” she says, passive aggressively. *Don’t fucking start, Rony. I’m leaving.
So he did, he just couldn’t handle it. He didn’t want to fuck it up even more and say something hurtful. Even if he was pretty upset, he didn’t want to hurt her feelings.
Rony on her end felt pretty bad, but more confused than anything else. She didn’t understand at all why he was so frustrated and insistent on calling her out about her feelings. Could he- no… that’s not possible. She’s hidden so much from him and she still does, she keeps breaking his trust. There’s no way he could, she knew trust was important to him. Besides, she wasn’t even sure if she actually wants to be in a relationship with him or anyone, for that matter. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.
Skip a few days later and the two still havent made up. It has made the past few days horrendous and tedious, to the point where it was visible to their other co-workers, including their boss, Chief Asgore. He’s noticed how their dynamic changed, it was sudden and clear how the tension between them was high enough to fear they’d really fight at each other. He’s called Gill once to have a serious discussion with him, since was more personal with. However, his questions were a bit too personal. Varying to questions about the actual fight to literally asking Gill if him and Rony had some… sexual issues. Honestly… he knew he was like a father to everyone but… let’s just say that Gill is not the type, when they’re not even in a relationship.
But, they still managed to insist on taking a mission. It was some highly dangerous drug smuggling group of thugs. Smaller than usual, but they were still dangerous, using young children to help them, as well as their parents. They managed to plan an ambush at their next target. It took a lot of effort for the co-workers not to hide somewhere in case they burst in a fight, but they managed to be professional… and only that.
A few hours later and they arrived at destination. Rony and Gill were parked inside the building, while the reinforcements were surrounding the area. Now, all they have to do is wait. For some reason, Rony thought it’d be a good idea to start a conversation.
* “Hey… Gill?” *… What is it? he asks, not even looking at her. * “I just… wanted to apologize for the other day. I was being a bitch…” *… It’s fine, Rony, but I don’t think that’s the important part. I can accept your apology for being an ass… But I can’t forgive you, because you’re still not being honest with me. he explains. * “I… I really don’t know what you’re talking about.” *See what I mean? Like… Rony, what the fuck’s your problem!? I don’t get it. he says, irritated, gripping the wheel. * “Excuse me, but what’s yours!? I don’t understand why you’re absolutely about my feelings. You don’t know me!” she shouts. *Don’t gimme that shit, Rony. You know that’s a fuckin’ lie. Which is what I don’t get. Okay, maybe I don’t fully know you, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know your body language and how you talk. Shit’s obvious. he explains. * “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Gill. Please indulge me.” *Listen, I’m fuckin’-
No… no, no, no. He’s not going to raise his voice and get mad. This is not going to happen, not right now. They are on a fucking mission, for crying out loud. He loosened his grip on the wheel, relaxing his body and sighing to calm himself.
*You know what? No, I’m done talking. I’m not- WE’RE not going to do this. This isn’t the fuckin’ time! he admits aggressively. * “So… you not going to talk to me?” She asks, annoyed. *As long as it’s not for tellin’ me the truth or to beat the shit out of those guys, yep. he says nonchalantly. * “Unbelievable.” she sighs *Rony, I’m trying my best here. One more bullshit out of your mouth and I’m going to do the worst possible thing. * “Well, you’re ALREADY doing it! The worst thing you can do is not cooperate with me.” she says loudly, irritated. *Fuckin’ hell!
He hit the wheel as he cursed out loud. He immediately started angrily taking off his seatbelt. She felt bad pushing him away like this, but she was afraid, she couldn’t help it. However, that didn’t mean he could literally leave, they’re on a mission, for fuck’s sake.
* “Are you seriously leaving!? We-
Without even a warning, he suddenly turned around and basically tackled her into an agressive kiss. She could’ve pushed him away, she should’ve, but she didn’t want to. In fact, she held him closer. She’s unsure- no, she knew why, but she wasn’t sure if she wanted to admit it. But, she could feel her heartbeat and his accelerate, as they kissed more. After a few, Gill pulled away, leaving them time to breathe and say something.
*Are you going to tell me the truth, yet? Or else, I will. he threatened. * “I-I…” she was unsure, blushing. *… Fine. I’ll say it. Rony- * “W-Wait-” *I love you.
He frowned and sighed a mix of relief, frustration and embarrassment. Her eyes widened, she didn’t expect that at all. She thought he would- oh god, it all makes sense, now. Was she seriously this dense this whole time? Too absorbed in keeping herself from being hurt, she completely ignore literally all signs that he liked her… even more… than she did? She started crying and laughing, at the same time, hiding her face with her hands. Holy shit, she’s an idiot.
* “F-Fuck, Gill, I-I’m so sorry. I-I’m so… fucking stupid. I’m sorry.”she sobs. *It’s okay… it’s okay, Rony. Maybe… I should’ve just told you directly, from the start. I’m sorry, too. he hugs her firmly. A pause as she sniffles, holding him tightly.
* “I… I love you t-too.”
He smiles gently, a faint flush appeared on his face, wiping her tears away and going for another kiss. But, be before he could, a voice from the radio startled the two out of their moment. It was the Chief.
*《Agent Gaster, Agent Jurati, do you read me? The suspect is heading this way. Get in position. Over.》
They hesitantly pulled away from each other and Gill answered by pulling the walky-talky out of its holder, while Rony fixes herself.
*Loud and clear, Chief. We’ll be there in a moment. Over. he confirmed. *《Good, please be careful, they are very armed and seem in a rush. Do not hesitate to call for backup. Good luck. he explains. *Will do, sir. And thanks.
Gill sounding like he was in a better mood reassured Asgore. He put back the walky-talky in its holster and turned back to Rony, who was just about done. He couldn’t help but finish what he wanted to do, earlier. He kissed her for a moment, before pulling away, again.
*We really should be more honest with our feelings. I’m sorry I was so mad but… * “No… don’t be, I know how important trust is to you and… I keep breaking it.” *… Can I… kiss you again? Maybe I’ll forgive you. he chuckles. * “AHAHA! Wow, Gill, we-” *《E-Excuse me… But, you did not put it back in place correctly. We can hear everything.》
Fuck.

leave it to me to have a ryden fic rec page in the year 2018
The Heart Rate of a Mouse– This one is at the top of my list for a reason. The rest of the list isn’t ordered. If you haven’t read this yet, it is a Must ™ and do not, I cannot stress this enough, forget to read or skip the prologue. Things you need to know: 70′s AU, Ryan’s the lead singer of a popular band, Brendon is a stand-in roadie, 513k words.
In Case The Scene Gets Nasty– Oh boy did this fic keep me up all night reading it. It’s really h**king good. Things you need to know: High School AU, Ryan and Brendon hate each other until they don’t, 95k words.
The Black Rose Season– Pretty enjoyable, somewhat ridiculous, and I loved every single minute of it. By the same author who wrote THROAM. Things you need to know: College AU, Ryan is hired to spy on a fraternity for “cult”-like activities, Brendon, the boy of his dreams happens to be in said fraternity, 158k words.
Oh Doctor Doctor– This was in the middle of a fic binge and it stuck out so here it is on the list. Good and fluffy and smutty and angsty (I think). Things you need to know: Hospital AU, Brendon is a doctor, Ryan is a doctor, they are both really obsessed with each other and both are oblivious, 17k words.
Filthy Lucre– The smut in this one is always impressive, the plot… not so much. It could probably be 20 chapters shorter, but I’m gonna love it anyway so you should read it anyway. Things you need to know: Prostitution AU, Ryan is a millionaire, Brendon is the hooker that he happens to be fixated on, 363k words, not completed, drug use, rape.
Two Weeks in Hawaii– One of the cutest fics you will ever read. Though it’s over the course of two weeks, it seems like way longer, to be honest. Really good side Gablliam. Things you need to know: Vacation AU, Ryan was left at the alter, Brendon is the Hawaii native he falls for while on his “honeymoon” 135k words.
Footsteps in the Snow– So Good. It Is Amazing. One Of My Favorites By Anna Green. One Of My Favorites Of All Time. Things you need to know: Fantasy AU, people have halves (like an extreme soulmate), Brendon works in a magic shop, Ryan is a wanderer, 11k words.
No Use Turnin’ on Your Light– Really really good fic. This one made me just so happy and it’ll make you happy too. Things you need to know: 60′s Small Town AU, Brendon is engaged to a nice girl, Ryan is a famous folk singer who happens to move into an empty barn next to Brendon’s place, 10k words.
Black and White Piano Keys– Another one that was in the middle of a fic binge, obviously worth something if I remember it.  Blatant foreshadowing that I somehow missed. Things you need to know: College AU, Ryan needs help with his creative writing capstone project, Brendon is the music major who helps him compose some stuff for said project, 8k words.
Iron, Neon Lights & Weed– This one I was so down for from start to finish, the plot is amazing. Same author as THROAM. Hella side Joncer (the sequel for them is here). Things you need to know: Underground Club AU, Brendon wants a record deal, Ryan is the hot leader of the club who can get it for him,  92k words.
Miguel Sanchez’s Grand Slam of Love– I have heard this described as THROAM with less sexual confusion and a tenth of the length which is pretty accurate as far as characterization goes, but they’re both by Anna Green so. I enjoy this one quite a bit. Things you need to know: Tennis AU, Ryan is the #1 tennis player in the world, Brendon is the rookie that catches him by surprise, 56k words.
Remember the C Shot– Just some good straight up smut if that’s what you’re in to. Also by THROAM author, Anna Green. Things you need to know: Porn Star AU, Brendon and Ryan are doing a scene together, 6k words.
This One Time at Band Camp– The typical characterization in a Ryden fic. Still good though, the plot is nice. Things you need to know: Band Camp AU, Brendon is trying to escape his homosexual thoughts, but his section leader (and cabin-mate) Ryan is just really hot, 15k words.
Divine Intervention– Once again, another Camp AU with like,,,, the most basic characterization. But hey it’s on my rec list so I obviously like it. Things you need to know: Bible Camp AU, Ryan is gay and tryin’ to fight off his thoughts of his cabin-mate Brendon (who is tryin’ to fight off his gay thoughts too), 40k words.
Nerds in Love– Really really really really cute, I smiled the whole time I read it. I cannot believe that anyone would hate this. Things you need to know: Best Buy (?? lol) AU, Ryan doesn’t know how to work his computer and Brendon is the Geek Squad attendent or whatever it’s called, 22k words.
Fade Theory– Nice (I think). I read this one at like 4 a.m. one night so I don’t remember too much, but it stuck enough to make it on the list. It reminds me of Catcher in the Rye for some reason. Things you need to know: Poor Meets Rich AU, Ryan is an alcoholic and he gets a job at some company cleaning, he keeps running into Brendon, 26k words.
Are You There, God? It’s Me, Brendon– Good for a quick read with a decent plot. Brendon is like kinda the same as always… Things you need to know: Boarding School AU, Brendon transfers to a new school and Ryan is the kid that takes him under his wing (who happens to be really fuckin’ hot), 28k words.
The Key of Victory– This is a personal favorite of mine, I think it is so creative and it has Such A Good Plot, I highly recommend this one if you have some time to kill and haven’t read it yet (or if you have, it’s worth the reread), you’ll be pleased. Things you need to know: Reality TV Show AU, Brendon is in a TV singing competition to get a record deal, Ryan is one of the celebrity judges, 64k words.
No Sex in the Champagne Room– I just read this one recently and I’m surprised that I hadn’t read it sooner. I thought it was lovely and goofy enough for me to cherish forever. Things you need to know: College / Strip Club AU, Ryan is grieving over a break up, his friends bring him to the strip club where Brendon works, 25k words.
Ok then, that’s all the fics I have for now! Rec me some if you want so I can read them and probably add them to this list. Also I’m 99.7% sure that all of these are NC-17 or at least R so be warned. Ryan tops in most except Divine Intervention and The Black Rose Season if I am remembering correctly. If he does bottom in others, it’s after the relationship is established. All the links should work, if not message me so I can fix that shit. Anyway, I spent way too long working on this. Happy reading, fuckos.

For the prompt meme could I request some jet x wave for number 9?~ (These prompts have been AMAZING so far by the way!!!! ^^)
Tumblr media
Thank yous~ =w=
I HAVE BEEN DYING TO WRITE THIS.
Prompt:
Wave leaned a knee against her table as she wore protective shades, drilling a a saw into some airgear before putting the pulling the device off and setting it down.
She flipped her duo hair pieces while taking the shades off, and looked over her work. “You’re still not nearly as fast as I want you… but you’ll do.” she turned away and placed her glasses down, pulling out a journal of sorts and starting to write her next plans for improvements, sizes, mathematics to do so correctly, the works.
She put a hand up against her forehead, and didn’t even notice the peeking eyes behind the door.
“Ohh… ho-ho. You really don’t know how good you look with sparks, do you?”
Making odd noises, Storm walked by to see Jet peeking through the door slit, wiggling his fingers before Storm bonked him on the head.
“What’cha doin’ boss? Wave told me to do that if I saw you making creepy noises outside the door again.” he was holding a box in his other hand, but it wasn’t that heavy for him to carry in both hands, so he just casually lifted it over his shoulder and set it there.
“Ouch!” Jet threw his arms over his head, before glaring up at Storm. “Watch it! I can do as I please!”
“What’s going on out there?”
He flinched as Wave stepped out, sweat dripping down as she walked out and grabbed a towel, wiping some oil off her face while she was at it. “You two fighting again?”
Jet chuckled lightly, before nudging Storm on the arm and pulling his head down, seeing he was about to confess all.
“Oh, you know-” he yanked him further down to noogie his head. “Just us boys, messin’ around! heh-heh.” he awkwardly smiled.
She raised an eyebrow, before walking off. “Fine. But do it somewhere else. You’re roughhousing could knock me off balance and then both your gears could get trashed.” she warned, and swayed her hips as she walked down the hallway.
Jet leeeeeaned around the corner, smiling like an idiot.
She smirked, looking back out of the corner of her eyes.
She knew what he was doing…
She moved on, letting out a ‘hmph’ before turning the corner, out of sight.
Jet reeled Storms head towards him, holding it in both hands. “What you were you tryin’ to do!? Rat me out of my passtimes!?” he then released his head by throwing it out, and walked towards the corner, looking around it before fitting himself up.
“This is it, Storm. The day a boy becomes a man. The day where all races speed to that blessed finish line~ I’ll hit her with the ol’smoulder and chat her up again before- PA-CAW!” he pushed back his top feathers, rubbed his fingers together, pumped himself up, and stuck out his chest before swaying his arms out into a woman’s figure and letting out a hawk’s cry.
“Dahh… I don’t get it.” Storm put a finger up to his beak.
His head was flung down again, this time, he gripped his amulets and pulled those down. “You idiot! I’m gonna finally get Wave to admit she’s has the hots for me since the day we met! Haha!” he nudged a thumb back to gesture to her, then let the lovable lug go.
He patted his head, shaking his head. “Oh, Storm, good buddy, good mate… you may never understand…” he adjusted his gloves and set his glasses on straight, smirking. “She won’t know what hit her! Ha!”
“B-but… if you mean…” Storm started to put two and two together, as Jet annoyingly looked up at him, raising an eyebrow as if questioning if he really got it or not.
“B-but Boss! Last time she tired to flirt with you! And you said-”
-COMMENCE PAINFUL FLASHBACK-
“You!? You’d be the last girl on earth I’d ever want!” he stepped towards Wave and swished an arm out in front of her, pushing her back. “Heh, you might as well love a dream~” he then turned around, being arrogant, and fanned her idea away. “I’m deeply flattered Wave, but I must say, I thought you’d have a little more tact than that-”
His eyes widened as his confident fled when the screen turned white.
-ENDING PAINFUL REMINDER-
Jet rubbed his cheek, little chibi tear marks on the side of his face.
“She really nailed you into next thursday, Boss… are you sure you want to try and hurt her feelings again?”
Jet shook his head, looking determined. “That was years ago! I’ve changed my mind! I can do that, can’t I!? It’s my head!” he gestured his arms out, before pointing to his forehead, and then dropping his arms down as he kicked the ground a little in his slowly swaying steps. “Ugh… she swore she’d never love me again… I don’t even know if I stand a chance now… but one thing’s certain!”
He rose his head, turning around confidently and putting his hands to his hips.
“I’m the fastest thing alive! and I always win the prize!”
He then took off down the hallway. “Take the day off, Storm! This chick’s mine!”
“DAhhh… chick? Like… cheep, cheep?” Storm patted his hands out, thinking of baby birds. “Ahh… I don’t get it boss. But good luck!” he threw his thumbs up, trying to encourage, but then shook his head and started out the other way.
He put a hand to his head, “Gee, I hope she doesn’t electrocute him this time…”
Wave had washed up and shook off the water from her face, and then started to head deeper into the blimp to her second workshop, the one where she held all the gear upgrades and gadgets.
The last place was in was mostly for touch-ups and improvements. Speedy cleanups of things she needed to get done. But down here? Heh. This was her where her real work began…
She turned on the lights and they flickered in a row like a factory.
She picked up a gear and looked at the ones that lined the wall, and smiled, proudly.
There was a whistle, and her smile faded as she turned to raise an eyebrow at Jet, leaning at the large door’s frame, and knocking on it.
“Hello,…” he smirked. “Wave~” he motioned his hand like an ocean current. He then tried to swagger over to her, as she just saw right through him, and shook her head, lowering her eyelids.
“Did you get that off a cereal box?”
He flinched, growing anger before trying to laugh it off, flicking his nose with his hand. “Haha.. ha.. good one.” he leaned up against the table, scooting closer to try and get her attention as she tore a piece off the gear on the table, holding it to the light to examine it further.
“How have you…uh… been?” he looked her up and down, and had his arm on the table, holding his head up.
He was trying so hard.
“Trying to remember why I even let you try.” she turned away, and he slipped from the table, grabbing the edge to keep him upright.
“Heh-heh-heh…” he sweat dropped, realizing she was still upset over last time.
She held her head up high, giving him an annoyed glare back, before continuing her work somewhere else in the room.
He frowned, and snapped his fingers, before rubbing them up under his beak, and looking around.
He saw something that caught his eye, and smirked, lowering his eyelids and bouncing his eyebrows to the camera as he sped off to go get it.
“Why did I have to open my big mouth?” She cursed herself, looking up and rolling her eyes, getting back to her work as he came over, holding a toolbox and wearing a tool belt, trying to pose.
“Need a… handyman?” he posed.
She gave him one look, and then took a paperclip, holding it up.
She walked over to him, looking seductive, as she bit the bottom part down, making him a little excited before placing the point of it to his belt.
She pushed the tiniest button on it and the whole thing slid off.
She raised her smile up to show him what a fool he was, and then turned away.
“Eh-heh-heh… hey, at least you don’t need to worry about the pants~” Jet shrugged his hands out, as she flinched.
She turned with anger marks all over her head.
“Get out.”
“Wave, wait!” He ran over to her secondary table, then sat on it and held up a screwdriver.
“If you make a dirty joke with that, I’ll smash your head so hard against this table you won’t remember your own name.”
She said that so calmly as she pulled out blueprints that his widened…
He knew she wasn’t lying…
His hand slowly tilted and he dropped the object, before racing back to the tool box.
He took a crowbar to hook her beak and turn it towards him.
“I think we may have gotten off on the wrong start… you know? Where we both kinda… hehheh, got electrocuted?” he tried to seem charming.
She looked so unamused.
He nervously chuckled, pulling on his tuff of fluff and turning his head, sweating.
She pushed him away and moved to the center of the room. “What I can’t seem to understand is how you think you can just waltz in here and act like nothing ever happened!?” She folded her arms, clearly upset. “What suddenly changed your mind?” she glanced behind her, raising her eyebrow. “I mean, I’ve always had this face and body.” she then fully about-faced and gestured to herself. “So it can’t be all looks.”
He nodded, deep in his own self. “Ye-yeah…” his tongue hung out, before seeing her death glare and quickly snapping out of it. “Ehem! I mean, you have always looked rather… fine.” he looked away, trying to play it off as he kept a hand over his clearly smiling face.
“Then what of it?” She almost growled out. “I haven’t gotten any younger.”
“No… maybe not..” he started to walk over to her.
“And you clearly haven’t changed.” she gestured to him, but there was a different look in his eyes then, as he approached more readily, without fear.
“I know…”
The sudden shift in his attitude made her blink her eyes, and start moving back.
“Y-Yo..You haven’t changedorkeptyourselfinanywaylikeagentlemenoreventriedtoseemkind-.” she tried to stay mad, until turning nervous and speaking so fast that soon she just couldn’t be understood. Like a fast-forward button on your VCRs.
He kept the expression, walking until placing both hands on the wall, enclosing her in him.
“…You.. You’re acting… changed.” she allowed herself to lean against the wall.
“…Wave, baby.” he smirked. “I should have never resisted ya.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“You’re the sweetest thing I’ve ever picked up.” He moved his arms down to her sides, “And quite frankly, the greatest treasure I’ve ever acquired.” he went in for the kiss…
She held a hand up, and he opened his eyes.
“…Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that.” he admitted.
“You probably weren’t expecting this either.”
WHAM!
“YYYEEEEOOOOWWW!!!!”
Storm came back home from the movies, and looked around, seeing Jet with bandages and ice packs all over his body, growing and looking ticked off.
“Uhh… Boss?” Storm peeked his head and beak around the corner.
“GET OUT!!” Jet threw some ice packs at him, and then whinced at the pain from moving. “WAAVVEE!!!” he smashed his hand on the table multiple times.
“I’m coming, I’m coming. Geez.” she walked in with more wet rags and ice packs. “Who was I to know that jamming your head into the wall would have all those gears fall simultaneously onto your body?” She placed the objects down and folded her arms.
“Cause you’re a scientific wiz and know how to cause the worst case scenario to happen!” He hollered up at her, furious. “It’s statistics! And not even I could have sabotaged myself that well!”
Her eyes perked up, as if turned on by that.
“Really?~” she leaned on the table.
“Yeah! And you know whaaa….” he stopped shouting, his beak dropping as she put her finger into the water, and then her mouth.
“Care to tell how else I differ from in being smart and pretty?” she got up and lifted her arms to his face, as he seemed to almost melt by the touch.
Suddenly seeing Storm, he turned and hollered out while shaking a fist towards him, “I THOUGHT I GAVE YOU THE NIGHT OFF!”
“I-It was the day and-”
“SCRAM!” the two stated in equal harshness, as Storm freaked out, terrified of their scary looks, and raced back for the blimp’s exit, booking it.
“I’ll never understand love!” he cried out, grabbing his gear and taking off for the city again.
(I can’t help but feel like these two will eventually be super into each other, but it would be a… dangerous… relationship, lol!)
