Severe, about the whole thing, you know? from HIS perspective he’s going through a long and arduous journey of emotional turmoil that you, wretched seducer/seductress have cruelly damned him to; but for you it’s like he COMPLETELY turned on a dime. he wouldn’t really be the sweep-you-off-your-feet type, like chuuya or dazai would be in this situation. when he gets the order to get close to you for intel reasons (and the whole time he’s wondering why this is HIS job, when has he ever been known to be personable?) he might take on the persona of a newbie in your line of work or a new tenant in your apartment complex and you he’s always kinda… there. staring at you and looking mad about something. but hey! hes probably just shy, right? why not throw him a bone, you think. you live to regret this. 

on akutagawa’s end, he doesnt know whether to laugh or scoff at your naivety. you really are making this MUCH too simple for him. like, come on now, discussing work over coffee? inviting him into your home? why don’t you go ahead and decapitate yourself for him while you’re at it. and what an irritating little insect you are, as well! constantly bothering him, talking to him, touching him… showing him affection, concern, genuine interest… completely ridiculous. he’s sure he doesnt dislike ANYONE as much as he does you.

OH GOD IF THEY PROTECT HIM??? FUCK!!!! he’d be SO touched. denies it, but he is!!! moved, even! after this, he gets really comfortable around you, moreso than he thinks he deserves. you’re just so. nice. he feels good when hes around you. the mission becomes more of a break from mafia life than an addition to it. he… likes you. no, he loves you. he loves you so much. if you express a similar romantic interest in him he’ll probably blow a gasket. he never thought he could feel this strongly about anyone (excluding his sister and dazai, ofc) 

inevitably, you find him out. hard not to, when his end goal in this whole matter was to utterly destroy you. like you said, he leaves you no choice in the matter of coming with him. he needs you, and you need him, in his mind. he can protect you! no one else will EVER protect you or love you or WORSHIP you the way he does! you don’t need anything else but him, don’t you understand? this is for the best! youre angry, of course. you hate him, curse him, try to kill him. and akutagawa feels like his entire world is falling apart. please, please, please, you can’t hate him, anything but that. he loves you he loves you he loves you PLEASE he’ll do anything to prove it to you, ANYTHING. his life is almost entirely dedicated to earning your affection and praise from here on out, kinda like how he is with dazai. you’ll see it his way eventually…. you have to….. he wont accept anything else.

akutagawa doesn't really strike anyone as the ideal person to send to infiltrate some place and charm someone for information, but he has a surprisingly useful ability to sort of...blend into the background. he knows what's expected of him, sent on to a mission like this. he's not expected to flirt or coo or wink at you until your knees buckle and you fall into his arms (though now, in retrospect, that would have been a sight he would love to see). rather, what he has to do is simply exist. exist and observe.

it sounded a lot easier in theory because nobody had said anything about you. all he was told was that you'd have the information he needed, and you were not so high-up that it was impossible to talk to you, and not so unimportant that you would be useless to listen in on. nobody said anything about that damned smile and the easygoing charm and the genuine concern that radiated off you. nobody told him that you would pat his shoulder and tell him he was doing great, buy him coffee and offer your support for anything he needed. and nobody even mentioned how kind you were, unlike anyone else he's met that worked for an 'enemy' organization.

(well, it was true that you were kind to all your subordinates, but he refused to see that. to him, it was only him that you cared about right?)

then there was the fact that he could never just 'exist' when you were around. you had an eye out for everyone—not out of paranoia or control, but concern. you noticed him hiding behind the crowd, awkwardly standing by the wall, and you'd bring him closer to everyone else. you saw him, despite him not being any use to you. he was not the ruthless murderer the port mafia wanted him to be, or whatever dazai thought him as. he wasn't a rival you were deadset on beating or a guard dog that patiently sat by your feet, ready to tear apart anyone who dared even look at you the wrong way. not that he would have minded that, if it meant he could protect you from those wandering eyes. in here, he was just another one of faceless lower-rank members, loaded with boring paperwork and forced to run after everyone else.

but to you, he was the new member under your care. you used the name he was given for the mission, you asked him if he had his lunch. you brought him some of your favorite tea to try when you learned he liked drinking tea (and he drank every drop. how could he not, when you looked so eager for his opinion on it?) he wouldn't have expected more than a nod after a job finished in the port mafia, but here, he was being celebrated like he had done something. like you cared. and that thought tormented him.

at first, he pretended to hate you for it. with the appreciation, you showed, your open nature, and your sympathy—you would be torn apart and crushed in the port mafia. such traits would only lead to your demise. he couldn't show that he appreciated it because he didn't want you to think you could keep this up, and endanger yourself. he wasn't the only one trying to infiltrate your group, he knew, and if anyone else learned about you, they would try to worm inside through you. and then what? you'd never see through them, would you? akutagawa was terrible at espionage and still, he made it this far with you, hadn't he? you didn't even consider his true intentions, even after a couple of slip-ups, that he was convinced you were truly helpless. it was deplorable.

and yet...

he wanted to receive more of your attention.

it was very embarrassing when he realized what was happening. automatically running to you after finishing any task, looking forward to your check-ins, taking on anything to try and lessen your workload...what had you done to him? sometimes, he thought of what dazai would think of him now, acting like a pathetic little lap dog, deprived of love.

what really sealed the deal was the moment you risked your life to protect his. undercover akutagawa did not have an ability. that was probably why you stepped in so quickly to move him away from harm. but something about how you grabbed and lifted him, fearlessly navigating the chaos to bring him to safety struck him. something about how easily you threw aside your life for him, how immediately you jumped into action. and after all that, when you apologized to him and swore you would never let him be hurt again...

what else was he supposed to do?

akutagawa was no fool. reckless, hardheaded, maybe. but not stupid. there was no place for that in his life. but at the moment he was at a loss for words and emotions. this overwhelming warmth, this gentle embrace, this wonderful feeling—it was all so new to him. he was used to being the one risking his life to further the port mafia, not fussed over like...like his life wasn't dispensable.

your tight hold on him, your frantic apologies, your commands for someone to come help him—akutagawa had never felt so wanted before. never felt so desperate for something before, either, except maybe dazai's recognition. funny how he could tear himself apart and stick himself back together and dazai wouldn't bat an eyelid, but one little scratch on him and you're tripping over yourself to get to him, huh?

that incident is what changes everything between you two. suddenly, akutagawa is more present, more expressive to you. he talks more (still not a lot, but he's getting there), he even lets the occasional smile slip. he brings you snacks he knows you like to eat, and he just starts being around more often. always behind you, like you held a leash that was connected to him. akutagawa was sure now, that he loved you.

the warm feeling, the nervous feeling he got around you, the way he couldn't stop looking and how he always wanted you to hold him. he loved you, so much. he knew you didn't think of him as a lover—not yet. but he didn't mind. this was fine, for now. until he settled things with the pm so you would never have to know his true mission.

what he didn't expect to happen was you finding out so soon. it all happened too fast. he got a message that he had done his job and shortly after the group you worked for was eradicated. when you were finally introduced to the port mafia, you met akutagawa as himself for the first time.

and just as he feared, you were disgusted by him.

he should have expected this, right? you had every right to be upset after you trusted him so much. that didn't mean it didn't tear him apart to see the hatred in your eyes and the way you flinched away from him. he thought you would be grateful after he convinced them to let you be with him, and not punished like your friends, but you were enraged. you screamed and punched and you looked so hurt that he wanted to fall on his knees and apologize until you accepted it. he would take any punishment as long as you stayed. and you would stay, wouldn't you? when you saw the evil that lurked outside on the streets, the terrors that awaited you. you would stay when he convinced you because he would convince you. show you that he always loved you back, and that he would protect you like you did him. nothing had changed, except his name, really! it was still him, the one you laughed with and bought tea for. it was still the him that you had held in your arms after bringing him to safety.

Do you have theories about what Maya did to Fisk in Echo’s finale? Also, do you plan to write more? I’d love a sequel of your AU where Fisk buys Matt from an abusive husband.

1. Thank you for interest in that AU. I won't say I'll never add to it, but I don't think I currently have enough ideas to continue. Maybe one day. Never say, "Never." But I am writing on another FiskMatt fic right now, if you're interested in it. I just hit a bit of writer's block, but I finally finished the next chapter. Should be up soon.

2. You mean in the final confrontation when Maya used her new healing powers (the MCU will do anything but give Maya her comic ability) on Fisk? I do, yes! I guess you could almost say it was like a therapy speedrun. Hahaha.

I have Thoughts on a lot of how they wrote Fisk in Echo (some good, some bad), and I may make a larger post just to get my thoughts out of my head. (Instead of texting my friend a lot.) But I was happy with the choice they made to have Maya challenge Fisk emotionally instead of physically. She didn't want to kill him (again), but instead heal him from past pain, like her mother's spirit did for her.

It makes me think of this bit from an X-Men comic. (Don't mistake me for someone who knows a lot about X-Men. lol. Just a few things.) Pietro's daughter, Luna, has the ability to alter people's emotions. She think she is helping pop-pop Magneto (I refuse retconning that he isn't Wanda/Pietro's father) by making him let go of the negative and traumatic emotions associated with his past. But Magneto does not want to be "saved" from that pain and anger. It belongs to him and is a driving force in everything he does.

That but with Maya and Fisk.

She still cares for the good parts of him she loved, and she wanted to be the bigger person and help him instead of hurt him further. I think it might even be empathetically motivated. It felt good when Taloa healed Maya from her emotional pain, and she thought it would help Fisk to do the same.

So when Fisk went on about how the trauma of an abusive childhood shaped him and motivated him, Maya thought if she could remove those negative emotions and get him to embrace her, let go of the hammer/violence/pain, it would help Fisk be less inclined towards evil in the now. In a sense, it might "cure" him.

But like with Magneto, it's not what Fisk wanted. He needs that anger and violence to be who he is. He doesn't want to be saved from it, not even for Maya. That's why he screamed, "I am not who you want me to be!" (Sad line, btw.) As if she wants to scrape away the "bad parts" of him and leave behind a better version. Fisk denies that he is or can be that person. (We love self-aware characters.)

It's not explicitly confirmed in the psychic vision of his childhood bedroom (*chef's kiss* for that choice of setting) if he does relinquish the hammer to her. The scene cuts away to reality. But you kind of get the sense that maybe he did, given his reaction.

I love how genuinely unsettled he appears for the rest of the episode. Like the ground collapsed beneath his feet, and he's trying to reconcile what his own emotions mean anymore.

Sitting in his plane, distractedly rubbing his fingertips together, as he is wont to do in times of unease. (Can't gif right now.)

So I'm not completely certain if Maya "turned off" the origin of all his anger, but it does sort of feel that way, right?

I don't doubt he'll once more be the unhinged anger man we love when we get to DD: Born Again, but I would love to see a small character arc where Fisk has to forcibly retake his rage or else lose all efficacy. (Something legitimately dangerous when you have as many enemies as he does.) I think it could be really, really good if they follow up with something like that.

She had been denying his feelings for so long- refusing to accept that he could ever truly care for her- but it was getting harder and harder to ignore as she desperately pressed her body closer to his. He watched as her lips parted between each sob, pitying the pathetic human as she was wracked with guilt. Just as Olive tried to squeak out a rebuttal, his thumb rested against her lips with a hum and he began to rub soft circles into her back. He was worried that it seemed like he was trying to shut her up, only for a wave of relief to wash over the Time Lord when Olive relaxed against him.

My ex called...

My ex (who we'll call Zo) called me last night. I'm currently spending time with Sunshine at their home and the time I've spend here has been so relaxing. I've spent my days under warm blankets and drinking hot tea. Watching the sunrise and rain fall. The gloom of this state has me hooked honestly. I don't want to admit it but I want to move out here. I just don't want anyone to think its because Sunshine lives out here... But that would be the icing on the cake.

Just after Sunshine got home from work, while they were in the shower and after I had started cooking dinner, Zo calls me on Facebook Messenger of all apps. I told Sunshine that Zo called and I know they could tell something was wrong. They kept asking me if I was ok or if I need some space. They could see that I was in distress and was looking for some way to help me feel better. I feel like an asshole every time I say that I'm fine when I'm really not. Like I'm denying us an opportunity for honesty. We're not even officially in a relationship but how can I expect them to want one when I can't bring myself to admit when I'm not ok.

Sunshine, who doesn't even watch TV, suggested I watch something. Adventure Time has been my comfort show since the breakup. I'm already on season eight. If you've watched the show you'll know that it's not nearly as light hearted at this point in the series. Finn apologizing to Flame Princess nearly made me cry. And watching him acknowledge that he's encountered a great amount of loss to a singing hole in the ground hit harder than I expected. I found myself after a few episodes just zoning out while Adventure Time played. I just turned off the tv and went to bed with Sunshine who proceeded to drape a weighted blanket over me. I needed that.

Sonic angst? Oh boy y'all are enabling me now, thank you for the ask!

I'll do a top 5 in no particular order, heads up it's quite a read!

1. Boom!Sonic's bandages and excessive sports tape, used for "support", is just the aftermath of Sonic's iconic running abilities and generally growing older. Osteoarthritis is common with long-term runners, it's the irreversible degeneration of the cartilage in the joints of your body and causes joint pains. I like to think that's why Boom!Sonic is considered one of the slower Sonics and doesn't have the same "show-off" fighting style as, say, game Sonic. It's pretty sad to think about..

To quote Robotnik himself, "Don't run, it'll only hurt more if you do, and it's bad for your joints - they've proved it."

2. It's staple knowledge that sonic is afraid of water and cannot swim. However, as someone who unfortunately also has bad thalassophobia and general aquaphobia, I feel Sonic's fear is quite misunderstood. Everyone experiences these fears differently I wont deny that, but for me I believe it's not so much the fear of water itself for Sonic. We all know he's claustrophobic too, I think its the sheer claustrophobia the water brings and how it prevents him from being able to run - which just so happens to be a vital characteristic of his.

It's far more prominent in Sonic X with multiple occasions where his fear is brought up, the incident with Chris' pool and the Chris' family boat for example. With the pool, he struggled to run and get out and relied on Chris to pull him up. Yet when he was actually in the water, he was reasonably relaxed? Annoyed, but far from panicked. Even to the point where he was just sitting at the bottom of the pool in defeat.

With the boat, Sonic goes as far as to launch himself off the boat amid the distress of not being on land. Now, with myself having these fears I would never ever dream of trying to get to land (or yeet myself off a boat to be fair) in any case like this. Just the thought is stressful enough haha.

This brings me to a more specific fear that might suit Sonic better, Cleithrophobia is a specific focus of being being trapped or otherwise unable to move properly in an area - such as water or the boat. People with cleithrophobia are often fully comfortable entering small areas that they are free to leave, this would be why Sonic is comfortable is smaller spaces but not when he feels trapped. Being unable to swim does not help the hog either. He most likely feels misunderstood too, I know I do, and the fact it isn't really taken as seriously by his friends likely brings in a lot of insecurity and doubt too. A brave hero such as the famous Sonic the Hedgehog, afraid of water? Yeah, that's what it seems like. Poor guy.

3. He's the CEO of repressing emotions, he practically invented it (/j).

I won't dive too deep, but if you break down the events of all the games and comics and so on, you'll notice he experiences a lot. Held as a POW? Check. Watched his friends die before him? Check. Been yeeted to another world or even universes against his will? Check. Has his body transformed and taken over by an evil force? Double check. And that's to name a few, as you'll know.

These events are mentioned, sure, but it's rare for his experiences to be fleshed out in canon. Of course, it's unlike his character to let these things bring him down because he prides himself in looking forward and not being hung up on the past. However something Sega needs to learn is that "moving on" from events does not always equal to healing from them. Especially as being a main character, think of how important the representation of some vulnerability from him would be. Sonic is wonderfully intelligent emotionally, he's often the one to provide what people need to hear - as mentioned in my official wiki page post here.

So, he practically cremates his emotions. He probably thinks about traumatic events often and relies on himself to pull out of emotional episodes. The things that happened in satbk and satsr did happen, he gets frustrated when nobody believes him and mourns the people he met but will never be able to see again. He's a person who likes to keep things to himself when it comes to emotional well being, hence how Dark Sonic exists. A manifestation of his anger and repressed feelings when exposed to the negative energy the fake emeralds exerted, far different to Fleetway as Dark's intentions are more guided by Sonic's key morals - i.e protecting his friends and bringing down evil rather than being the evil.

A person can only hold in so much, over time it will be harder for him to repress so much. Things like this lead to depression or anxiety disorders, I believe one day he'll break, let him go apeshit Sega - or at least let him talk about his feelings please.

4. Sonic struggles with having too much energy. He often find himself overwhelmed or overstimulated and ends up running and pushing his abilities to get it all out, essentially burning himself out. He feels like he's too much for the people around him, they struggle to keep up with him when he talks a lot about something or another and cant keep up when he runs. Sometimes he disappears for days according to Tails, but he trusts that Sonic will come back.

Tails has picked up on knowing when this is going to happen, little things like leg bouncing or tapping things or fiddling with Tails' stuff. His most noticeable one is the nose rubbing thing, they're all nervous ticks that he has when he feels overstimulation or his anxiety creeping up on him.

5. Sonic doesn't fear death, but fears losing the people he loves.

His friends and family mean more to him than anything in the world, he sacrifices himself over and over for people without even a second thought. His character shows such a strong love for nature and protecting it, he has some kind of connection to the Earth so I feel he wouldn't fear his inevitable death.

If he was to die, he'd die protecting the world and it's people. A hero realises that love brings a duty of protection, and so, love is for the brave only.

How Nami Acts Near Her Crush Headcanons

• Nami isn’t too familiar with love, believe it or not. She may be a femme fatale but she’s clueless with genuine romance. I can imagine she’d try and ignore them, trying to push down and crush her feelings for you. Not that Nami is upset that it’s you who she loves! She just… has no clue what to do.

• She develops a crush really slow. Nami may be a young girl but growing up in such conditions, she never had thoughts of romance or dating. So, she isn’t used to crushes, nor the concept of romantic attraction. Nami never puts the time of day into thinking of others romantically, really. She’s a casual gal.

• She‘ll avoid you. Nami dislikes the warmness of her heart and how anxious she gets around you.. It feels so unnatural! She more then likely won’t confess, due to how prideful she is. • Shows affection through small actions when you’re unavoidable. Whether it’s through saving and teaming up with you during battles or patching you up after them, she shows her care in small waves.

• Nami is quick to anger if anyone asks about her odd behaviour around you, speculating the potential of her feelings. For lack of a better term, Nami is a tsundere … to a degree. Not that she’s too mean! She just… denies everything and yells at you a lot. But hey, who does Nami not yell at? • Her confession is a mess, if she is the one to confess. Nami does a lot of beating around the bush, not wanting to directly say, “im in love with you!” If you can’t catch onto her clues, she’s going to get very irritated. She’ll just shout out her feelings out of the flame of her anger. Nami cant hold back her shame as you finally soak in her feelings. She’ll completely avoid you for a few days, even if you returned the confession… Nami needs time to process it!

How Nico Robin Acts Near Her Crush Headcanons

• Robin has had her fair share of relationships but nothing too serious. She’s mature, she knows how to deal with feelings like an adult. Of course, Robin won’t be entirely open about it, what’s the need to?

• She’s not as shy about it as Nami. Robin wont hesitate to flirt with her crush, calling them cute, showering them in praises and giving them soft bits of physical affections. Robin is a natural flirt, she knows her beloved won’t suspect a thing…

Valdis and Lily- Another story/reminder for myself which i need to learn how to properly tag to remind myself and find this because I'm sure i lost one on Oliver.

Lily was just recovering from nearly dying at an actual clinic. Upon hearing/knowing this, the miliary was like "Wasn't that the one dude who's really good at halberd and did some hunting and sht?" And went to scout him. They were like "Hey, we heard ya almost died and your weak as sht rn with no home, no money, no weapon, your basically broke asf, so we want to help you. Fight for us, and we will give u all that AND protect you from the person you just ran away from. If you deny us, well we'll throw ya back with them."

And Lily, just fckin tired, was like alright fine. But whatever you just called me, dont anymore. My name will be Xavier. Before they were able to look at him well he cut above his eyebrow to hide his marks. He was like, I need about a month to get better.

They were like, a month? Bi- have you seen yourself? And your long deep cuts? We gonna give u 2 months to recover, after that you're gonna train with this Knight who is a general and you'll be his Lutenit. He was like alrite, my one request is to go visit this place to make me a weapon, i don't want yours. They were a lil salty but ranted him that.

2 months later, he's still weak and recovering but trains with thee Knight, who is Valdis. Valdis is like "Why do they want him? He cant even run without looking like he's gonna pass out and he keeps dropping his halberd. Why is he using a halberd? They literally dumped an emotional mess on me who gets frusterated way too easy and wont even let me touch him." Because he was given literally no information about him other than the military wants him trained, so he's like aight.

Eventually he feels like a total duck when Xavier (Lily) snaps at him and his wrists are bleeding cause his wounds are opening again. This is when he knew...he fucked up. So he tries to go a lil easier on him now knowing he's injured.

Months later, he did it! Xavier is a semi fuctioning killing machince who's wounds have healed. He's still quiet as hell, eye bags that indicate he hasn't slept for god knows how long, and terrible eating habits, but he can tolerate Valdis. Valdis then proceeds to try and make him less tense and just fckin relax, so he always jokes around with him and slowly tries to get him used to touch again. After a while tho he's like...o sht..am I gay for him?

So one day he takes Xavier to drink, he actually drinks which surpeised Valdis, but god did he get drunk real quick. Some lady was flirting with them and Valdis was like, Ay Xavier why dont ya hit her up? And so the lady takes him and then like, 1 minute later she comes rushing out and p issed and Valdis goes into the room like, wtf did u do?

And they basically had a conversation where Xavier was like "I've never done it with a woman cus im gay asf" and Valdis is like "Oh."

Another time skip and Valdis tries to get touchy (occasionally poking him, holding his hand/arm, brushing his hair with his hands) with Xavier and notices how he lets himself. Then they get a lil more intimate and kiss- and that goes on for a while without either of them actually saying the love each other (except Valdis but in his very weird Knight way)

Xavier is like "I'll date you but...you have to listen to anytime I tell you to do or not do something" and Valdis is all for it and respects anytime he says no, especially to way more intimate things because now that he knows him better, he has a better idea of what he's been through and how he's still mentally and physically recovering.

After a while of dating and Valdis trying to get to 3rd base but backing off anytime Xavier says nah, Xavier is finally like "Alright- I dont think i can do this anymore. I cant give you what you want despite being patient as hell and I'm just a wreck rn who isnt ready for a relationship and also any of us can die at literally any day so maybe after the war going on we can date again." And hes like, terrified by how Valdis will respond. HELL YA HE'S SAD/UPSET, but he doesn't show it and is like "Alright, if thats what ya want. But will ya still let me hug/comfort you?"
