First Camp - USWNT x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Another fic set in the Polyglot!verse! This time its R's first time at senior camp set in November 2019
A/N: Bro, there was so much I wanted to fit in to this one that had to get cut. I think I might just write the cut bits as little drabbles instead
It isn’t every day that people get a call-up to play for their senior national team for the first time.
But as you walked into the hotel lobby, you couldn’t find it within yourself to be excited. The only thing on your mind is getting to your room so that you can take a nap and try to fight off your jet lag.
Unfortunately, that isn’t an option for you, as your flight from Spain had been delayed twice causing you to arrive mere minutes before the first team meeting, with not even enough time to put your bags in your room.
Practically sprinting down the hall to the conference room, you leave your bags outside the door and take a seat in the very back-row moments before Vlatko stands to address the team.
“Okay, ladies, let’s get this meeting started, I know you’re all very excited to get to whatever you have planned for the afternoon,” he says, glancing around the room. “Firstly, we’ve got some fitness testing in the morning, so try to make good choices for the rest of the day.”
The rest of the meeting continues in much of the same fashion, with Vlatko and the rest of the coaching staff running through the planned schedule and what to expect going into the two friendlies.
“Final thing before you all head your separate ways,” Coach says as everyone starts to gather their things, “You’ve noticed by now that it’s Y/N Y/L/N’s first camp, so make sure you show her how we do things around here but let her rest before you drag her into your antics. Dismissed.”
Grabbing your suitcases from the hallway, you follow the wave of players leaving the conference room towards the elevators.
As you stand near the back of the group staring into space you feel a hand place itself on your shoulder.
Turning around you lock eyes with Christen Press.
“Hey, Y/N, you’re rooming with me, Vlatko thought it would be best to keep you away from the chaos of some of the others,” she says.
“Cool, they uh they look like they can be a lot,” you say, watching over your shoulder as Kelley, Rose, and Sonnett shove each other.
“They can be,” she says, “How was your flight in, I know you arrived just before the meeting.”
Stepping around the squabbling trio that has managed to find themselves on the ground, you wait for the elevator doors to close before answering.
“The flight itself was alright, it got delayed a few times because of a storm,” you say watching as the numbers on the display rise and the doors eventually open.
The two of you are silent as you make your way down the hall and into your room.
Once in the room, conversation flows easily, and the two of you get to know each other. Eventually, though Christen leaves to go hang out with Tobin and you take the opportunity to have a shower and a nap.
This is why you’re not surprised to wake up to someone pounding on the door although when you open it you’re shocked to see Mallory and Tierna on the other side.
“Hey, Chris sent us to wake you up and make sure you get ready for dinner,” Mal says, stepping inside when you open the door wider.
Both of them immediately make themselves comfortable on the edge of Christen’s bed, while you head to the bathroom to change.
30 minutes later, the three of you find yourselves seated on one side of the long table that’s been placed in the conference room.
While you would’ve been more than happy for the meal to pass in silence, the other women on the team have chosen to use this as an opportunity to ask more questions than you thought possible.
Some of the questions are fairly tame, like ‘where are you from’ or ‘what’s your favorite cheat meal’ but once Mal asks who your favorite player is, the wheels begin to fall off a little bit.
It’s partially your fault because you should’ve known that they weren’t going to accept you not naming a female player.
“I watched a lot of United and Barcelona matches growing up so I wanted to be Luke Shaw, Patrice Evra, and Jordi Alba,” you say, hoping that would be enough.
“You didn’t watch any women’s soccer growing up,” Pinoe asks.
“I did.”
“So who’s your favorite player,” she asks, and when she sees how hesitant you are to answer she continues her needling, “Is it one of us? More importantly, is it me?”
“It’s not you.”
“But it is one of the people in this room.”
“I plead the 5th.”
This is when Kelley decides to join in on the needling but after a couple of minutes, Alex takes pity on you and gets her to stop, which gives Lindsey, the only other player to skip college completely, the opportunity to ask you a question.
“You left high school early to play for Barcelona, why,” she asks.
“School sucked, home sucked, playing football for money decidedly doesn’t suck,” you say plainly.
“That is the most teenager response I have ever heard,” Alex says.
“I’m 17,” you tell her, “I’m not sure what you were expecting.”
That sends a shock wave through the team, even the ones who were further down the table seem to have heard what you said.
“You’re practically an infant,” Kelley says with a disbelieving grin, “Even compared to Tierna and Mal. When do you turn 18?”
“Next month.”
A look of pure glee comes across Sonnett’s face and it makes you kind of nervous because as the seconds pass it only gets bigger and bigger.
And then she says, “Congrats Baby T, you’ve been promoted to little kid; Y/N is officially the team baby.”
Tierna begins to celebrate from her seat on Mal’s other side and while you are nervous about Sonnett possibly planning to kill you, you do your best to put on a show of moaning and groaning. Besides, it does feel pretty good to know that you’ve been accepted into the fold so quickly.
The rest of the meal continues in much of the same manner, with the entire team taking the time to relax and get to know each other better.
At the end of the meal, you and Christen make your way back to your room and get ready for bed.
Just before turning off the lights, she asks the one question you haven’t heard yet tonight: How are you feeling?
“Nervous but excited,” you tell her, staring blankly at the ceiling, “I want to play well and show Vlatko that he didn’t make a mistake calling me up.”
“I remember seeing you at the U-20 World Cup last summer, I don’t think you’ll need to worry about that too much. You’re talented and everyone who doesn’t know it yet will soon,” she says, flipping the lamp off.
The next few days pass in a way that makes it easy for you to adjust to the rhythm of camp.
Practice is hard, of course, and Columbus is fucking cold in November, but you do your best to push through everything and make sure you show what you have.
You also use the time to continue getting to know everyone both on and off the field, it’s hard because they all play on the same teams and in the same leagues. Even Cook who plays in France has an advantage over you in that she did go to college and has played with or against others on the team.
It’s all made a little easier by the fact that Tobin and Christen have taken it upon themselves to take you under their wings and with them comes Mal, so by the first team bonding activity you find yourself to be the newest member of their makeshift family unit.
It’s weird but it works besides with everything going on you don’t have time to worry about it.
By the time you turn around, it’s the day of the friendly against Sweden.
Even though the game has a late start time, you still find yourself waking up at your normal time of 8 a.m., so that you can complete all of your game day rituals.
A lot of athletes like to lie about not being superstitious but you’ll admit it proudly: Your entire mood on game days rests on whether or not you can stick to your schedule, even if you aren’t in the squad.
The weirdest of your superstitions and the one that usually requires the most explanation is the fact that you refuse to speak at all before pitch inspections on game days. A routine that you have always accompanied with a pair of noise-canceling headphones.
So before you leave the hotel room, you write two notes explaining the situation. One to keep in your pocket and one for Christen to find when she wakes up. Her note also has instructions saying that she can find you by the pool doing your morning meditation.
Which is exactly where she finds you roughly 45 minutes later.
Looking up at her you can see the slightly annoyed look on her face as she begins to rant but you can’t hear anything she’s saying. Eventually, she huffs angrily and tosses a scarf and hat at you before pulling you to your feet.
At breakfast you watch as the team passes around the note, most of them immediately agreeing to leave you to your routine but there are a few moments where Sonny tries to get you to speak, only to receive blank stares.
After that, the rest of the day passes smoothly.
You don’t get any minutes against Sweden but that was to be expected, it is only your first camp after all.
The next morning, you along with the rest of the team are on your way to Jacksonville, Florida.
The flight is just as chaotic as every other experience you’ve had with these women, they’re inability to relax is both comforting and agitating at the same time.
Originally, you had sat on your own but now 30 minutes into the two-hour flight, you find yourself surrounded by the younger group of players.
“Y/N/N, have you ever been to Florida,” Rose asks, pulling you back into the conversation.
“Nope.”
“Are you excited," Andi questions, leaning over the seat in front of you, "Do you have family coming?"
“I mean, I’m always excited to play but Florida isn’t really doing it for me,” you answer. “As for family, I doubt that my parents are gonna fly in to watch me play when we haven’t spoken in over a year.”
That seems to have gotten everyone’s attention because suddenly it feels like all eyes are on you.
“You’re 17, why haven’t you spoken to your family in a year?”
“Running away to play professional football kind of puts a strain on relationships,” you say casually.
If all eyes weren’t on you before they definitely are now, especially if the number of gasps you hear is anything to go by.
“You ran away to play in Barcelona,” Becky asks from her spot near the front.
“Not technically but I was told not to go and then when I did I was told in no uncertain terms to not return unless I decided to quit playing entirely,” you explain.
Everyone stares at you shocked until Ashlyn says what everyone's thinking.
“Dude. What the fuck?”
“You would've been what 16,” Christen begins, “Aren’t there a ton of FIFA laws about that sort of thing?”
“Yea but it would take too long to explain how I got around them,” you begin casually, “Besides don’t you like having plausible deniability?” You see a look pass through the faces of each of your teammates that lets you know that the answer is yes. “Ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies,” you finish.
Some of the girls still look slightly uneasy but they all seem content to just let sleeping dogs lie.
So, the rest of the flight passes with relative ease, and everyone returns to their own activities. You find yourself drawn into what is easily the most competitive game of Uno you’ve ever played.
The remainder of the day, and the next for that matter, pass with the same ease.
On the day of the Costa Rica game, you go through your routine with little stress.
You do your meditation, eat breakfast, take a nap, grab an afternoon coffee with Mal, Sonny, Rose and Lindsey, do pitch inspection and then it's game time.
The first 45 minutes of the game pass incredibly fast and as you make your way back into the locker room, you’re already up two-nil.
Vlatko’s half-time speech isn’t anything special and if you’re being completely honest, you haven’t heard a single word he’s said.
At least not until one of those words is your name.
“Y/N,” he says.
“Yes, coach?”
“You like to play on the left side, don’t you?”
You nod.
“Good, you’re going in for Sonny, go get warm,” he tells you.
You stare at him in silence for a moment before a shove in the back from Rose gets you moving.
You don’t remember much of the match, but that’s a common occurrence for you. Your adrenaline is always pumping way too strongly.
What you do remember makes you think that you played well. A couple of strong tackles, crosses that hit their mark, and no goals were given up as a result of any mistake you made, so it had to have been a pretty decent game.
Your beliefs are further reassured by the way the team gathers around congratulating you on your performance, some of them patting you on the head or back.
Back in the locker room, after you've all spent some time greeting the fans and after coach has given his little postgame talk, you find that the energy in the room is slightly different than what you’ve been getting used to. Everyone is still making noise but now it seems as though they’re all shaking with anticipation.
Then suddenly, Becky is trying to get everyone to calm down so she can address the team.
“Alright settle down girls,” she says, waiting for silence. Once she gets it she continues, “Three players made their senior team debuts today and since they’re all defenders, it’s my job to give them their game balls. Midge, Cookie, the two of you started and kept the right side locked down for the full 90 minutes.” Then she turns to you. “And Y/N/N, you put in 45 and are the only person I’ve ever seen talk trash after taking a cleat to the stomach. But most importantly, the three of you along with Sonny and Sully made life easy for our keepers and no balls found the back of our net. Good Job!”
As the girls break into applause, Becky tosses each of you a ball.
Everyone disperses a bit after that, headed to press conferences and the showers but you take a moment to stare at the ball.
It must last pretty long though because eventually, you feel someone taking a seat next to you. And since you can still hear her attempting to sing from the showers, you know it's not Rose.
“Are you okay,” Mal asks.
“Yeah, I’m good,” you say, “Did I really get kicked in the gut?”
She nods, “It was pretty bad to watch. Does it hurt?” You shake your head slightly so she continues, “Well you took it like a champ and I didn’t hear what you said but the Costa Rican player looked pretty pissed.”
“I don’t know either but I have a feeling I’ll never live it down,” you laugh, finally looking at her.
“It’s probably already all over the internet, so maybe not.”
“Great.”

Seven Minutes In Heaven (Kristie Mewis x Reader)
Tumblr media
SO, long time no see y’all it’s been a while, a long while, and I’m happy to be back, hopefully for a while this time. Now this started as a test fic, so I hadn’t planned on posting it, but after multiple asks and comments on my post, I’ve decided to post it... Be gentle, it IS FAR from perfect, I’m just trying to get the gears in my brain turning again...
So without further ado, here it goes... PLEASE let me know what you think.
After being dragged into a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven by Emily Sonnet, you somehow end up in the closet across from the woman you’d been crushing on since you joined the USWNT, and that woman was Kristie Mewis.
You fidget nervously, your throat bobbing as you eye the room of your teammates intently.
You weren’t exactly sure how you’d gotten roped into this, but the second ‘let’s play seven minutes in heaven’ left Emily Sonnett’s mouth, everyone squeaked, the aforementioned turning your way with a grin.
“Well, what do you say newbie?” She asked with a wink, and you shrug, your eyes darting nervously around the room filled with half of your teammates.
Emily leans close, whispering in your ear.
“Come on, you know you want to, and Kristie is playing.” She sings in your ear, and you blush, your eyes darting to the blonde she just mentioned, the woman giggling at something her Lindsey had said.
Emily nudges you, her brows wiggling suggestively, and you roll your eyes.
If there was one person you didn’t want to know that you had a crush on Kristie Mewis, it was Emily Sonnett, because, as you’d expected, she teased you relentlessly about it.
It was no surprise that, as you were a rookie, you were much younger than Kristie, who was currently 32, whereas you were 24, leaving an 8-year distance between the two of you.
However, even with the age gap, you still developed a crush on the older woman, something you’d become unable to combat.
“SOOO?” Emily says, giving you a nudge.
You roll your eyes, before letting out a huff.
“Fine.”
Emily throws a fist in the air, the woman with one goal in mind, and that was to get you and Kristie Mewis alone, together in the closet.
                                                           ***
It wasn’t long before Kelley O’Hara joined in on the fun, along with Alex Morgan and a number of other veterans.
Though several of your teammates had been paired together, more often than not, when the closet door was opened, they were just sitting there, deep in conversation or giggling about something unheard by the remainder of you.
That, however, wasn’t the case when the door was opened for Alex and Kelley, their cheeks flushed red, the two breathing heavily.
“Goddamn.” Emily snickered, earning a flick on the head as Kelley made her way passed, her opposite hand linked with Alex’s, their fingers intertwined.
Thankfully, for you, you had yet to be chosen, but out of those remaining, Kristie had yet to be chosen as well, something that made your heart race.
In that moment, you’re pulled out of your daze, however when Emily and Lindsey are paired together, the pair blush profusely as they make their way into the closet.
Your eyes widen when you feel someone take a seat on the bed beside you, that someone making your chest tighten.
“I know that look.” Kristie says with a smile and your brows furrow, your throat bobbing.
“Wh-What look?” You stutter, the blonde nudging you, your cheeks heating up.
“You don’t want to play, do you?” She asks and you clear your throat, your attention focused entirely on your hands as you pick at a hangnail nervously.
Yous shrug.
“Not really.”
Kristie hums, giving you another nudge to get your attention.
“Then why’d you agree to play?” She asks and you again shrug.
“Peer pressure?” You say, cringing, the blonde detecting your obvious lie.
Your cheeks flush and she smirks.
A millisecond later her eyes widen, her smirk turning into a grin.
“Oh my god.” She squeals, her hand resting on your forearm, goosebumps, that you hope she doesn’t notice, sprouting across your skin.
“What?” You ask nervously, swallowing hard.
“You want to spend some alone time with someone in the closet, don’t you?” She teases, your entire face flushing the tips of your ears burning as you gape at the woman, who takes your silence as a yes.
“So?! Who is it?!”
You chuckle, your eyes darting away nervously as you try to think of something, ANYTHING to say.
It’s in that very moment that Trinity knocks hard on the closet door, which opens moments later to a disheveled and red-faced Emily and Lindsey, the taller of the two adjusting her shirt.
Emily grumbles under her breath as she and Lindsey crawl out of the closet.
“That wasn’t seven minutes in heaven, more like 5 minutes.” She mumbles.
It’s then that your attention is turned back to the blonde beside you, the woman frowning.
“Is it Em?” She asks and you clear your throat, your mouth opening and closing repeatedly, your silence ‘answering’ Kristie’s question.
You stiffen as her arm slips around your middle, the woman wrapping her arms tightly around you.
“I’m sorry.” She whispers in your ear, her hot breath making your breath hitch.
You’re unable to find your words, simply leaning into the blonde who pulls back a beat later, the woman smiling softly.
“You, okay?” She asks and you nod, cracking a small smile, your heart warming in your chest.
The clearing of a nearby throat pulls your attention away from the blonde, your eyes widening when you realize basically everyone in the room is looking your way.
“Well, if they’re already hugging out here, what do you think they’ll do in thereee?” Trinity sings, the rest of the team giggling.
Your eyes widen, your chest tightening.
“Wh-What do you mean?” You ask, turning to look at Kristie who glances at you.
Emily smirks, holding up a slip of paper, your name scrawled across its surface.
Lindsey beams, holding up her own piece of paper covered in Kristie’s neat handwriting.
“You’re up newbie, now get in there.”
                                                           ***
You clear your throat as the closet door shuts on both you and Kristie, the two of you sitting cross-legged in front of one another, your bare knees brushing every so often with each movement.
Kristie hums.
“I’m sorry.”
Your brows furrow.
“For what?” You ask, your head cocked slightly to one side, something that makes a smile stretch across the woman’s face.
“About Em.”
You shrug.
“It’s okay.”
Kristie leans forwards, her hands resting on top of your own, your throat bobbing as you swallow hard.
“Are you sure?” She asks softly and you nod, a smile stretching across your face.
Kristie gives your hands a pat before leaning back, her back resting against one of the closet walls.
“So, what do you think of all this?” She asks, motioning around the small space and you chuckle.
“Never thought I’d be in THIS position after joining the national team.” You smile, glancing at Kristie who lets out an adorable giggle.
“What, you’re not into kissing your teammates?” She jests and you shake your head, your cheeks flushing.
“I’m not into kissing, well, anyone really.” You shrug and Kristie’s brows furrow.
“What do you mean?"
You turn your head, your cheeks flushing a deep shade of red when you realize what you’d just confessed.
Your mouth opens and closes for a moment before your tongue swipes at your lips.
“W-Well...” You stutter, taking a deep breath before you finish your sentence. “I’ve never—No one’s ever wanted to kiss me before.”
The blonde silently studies you for a moment before she sits up, leaning towards you.
“Seriously?” She asks and you shrug, the tips of your ears on fire as you flush with embarrassment.
In all honesty, you hadn’t planned on confessing one of your deepest ‘darkest’ secrets to the blonde, but you felt so at ease with her that you couldn’t stop yourself from sharing it.
“You have to be kidding me...” She mutters, and your brows furrow.
“What?” You ask and she shakes her head, as if in disbelief.
“I’m sure there are plenty of people who want to kiss you.” She whispers and you shake your head rapidly.
“There really aren’t.”
You suddenly become very interested in your hands, which are currently resting in your lap, your fingers playing together nervously.
“That’s ridiculous.” She scoffs, your head snapping upwards, your eyes locking with hers.
Your breath catches in your throat when she leans forward, gently cupping your cheek, your skin flushing beneath her touch.
“Kris?” You whisper, the blonde’s thumb running along your bottom lip.
“It’s ridiculous, because there is someone who wants to kiss you.” She whispers, her blue orbs darting from your Y/E/C eyes to your lips and back.
Your heart pounds wildly in your chest, the butterflies in your stomach flapping their wings ecstatically.
She traces your jawline with her index finger, the woman leaning in, her nose brushing your own.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you, for a really, really long time.” She mumbles, your eyes fluttering shut in anticipation as the woman begins closing the gap between you.
“TIME’S UP!”
The two of you spring apart, your eyes wide and cheeks flushed as you turn towards Emily Sonnett, who’s wearing a cheeky grin.
“What was going on there?” She teases, and you clear your throat, your mouth opening and closing as you try to find your words.
“Well, nothing now.” Kristie gripes, shooting Sonnett a glare.
Kristie shoots you one last glance, the woman frowning as she slips out of the closet, your eyes downcast as you follow suit, the moment between the two of you passing by, along with, what you expected, would be the final moment between the two of you.
                                                           ***
Needless to say, after that you didn’t feel much like sticking around, slinking back to your room with your proverbial tail between your legs.
You stare up at your darkened ceiling, unable to sleep, thoughts of Kristie’s lips against your own plaguing your mind.
You’re pulled from your thoughts by a soft tapping against your door, a huff leaving you as you roll out of bed.
You grumble as you shuffle towards the door, certain that it was your roommate, Lindsey Horan, behind the door, the woman most likely forgetting something in the room that she hadn’t taken across the hall to Emily’s.
You jerk the door open in annoyance, your eyes squinting as the hotel’s hallway lights pour into the room.
“Linds?” You mumble, digging your fists into your eyes in an attempt to clear your vision.
“Guess again.”
Your eyes widen when your vision clears, revealing Kristie Mewis standing before you, the woman shuffling from foot to foot.
“Kris, what are you--
You’re cut off when the woman takes a step into your room, her hands cupping your cheeks, her nose again brushing yours as she leans in.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I couldn’t stop thinking about kissing you.” She confesses as you lean back against your hotel room’s wall, your heart pounding wildly in your chest.
However, before Kristie can close the distance between the two of you, someone clears their throat.
“You know, you could at least shut the door.”
The two of you again spring apart, Kristie’s gaze murderous as she glares across the hallway at Emily Sonnett, the blonde smiling around her toothbrush that was hanging out of her mouth.
“I swear to god, I’m going to kill you.” Kristie growls, mumbling under her breath as she advances on the blonde, flicking her in the head.
“Linds! Help!” Emily cries, earning a snort from within the hotel room.
“No, you’re the one who keeps cockblocking them, you’re on your own Em.”
Kristie pulls the blonde into a headlock, digging her knuckles into the top of her head as she growls angrily in her ear, words that you can’t quite make out.
Eventually, Emily wiggles free and runs into her room, slamming the door shut behind her, Kristie glaring at its surface for a moment before she turns to you.
She rubs the back of her neck in embarrassment.
“She, really knows how to kill a moment, huh?” She asks and you nod, your arms crossing across your chest.
The two of you stare silently at one another before Kristie frowns.
“Goodnight, Y/N.” She whispers and you smile.
“Goodnight, Kris.”
The woman slowly shuffles down the hallway, sparing one glance over her shoulder at you, before she turns down the hallway and out of sight, your head hanging low as you turn on your heels and slip into your hotel room, again, unable to get the thought of what it would feel like to have Kristie’s lips against your own.
Unbeknownst to you, across the hallway, Lindsey’s blue orb is peering through the peephole, the woman turning towards Emily, her eyes aflame, something that takes her aback.
“What??” Emily asks innocently, and Lindsey’s eyes narrow.
“You’re going to fix this.” She growls and Emily snorts.
“I didn’t even do anything.” She shrugs, squeaking when Lindsey threatens to throw a cleat at her, the blonde shielding her head.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll fix it!”
Lindsey nods.
“You better, or I’m never kissing you again.”
Emily pouts, her arms crossed.
“Fine."
“What was that?” Lindsey asks as she crawls into bed beside the blonde.
“I-I mean, right away darling?” She grins, earning an eye roll from the blonde beside her.
“That’s what I thought you said.”
                                                           ***
As to be expected, the following day you were quiet, unwilling to voice your opinion on plays before the game, and unwilling to lift your gaze from the green beneath your feet, something that earned Emily a glare from basically everyone on the team.
“We have to fix this.” Lindsey says from her place on the sidelines, the blonde watching as Kristie gazes longingly across the field at you.
Emily’s head cocks to one side.
“I thought you said I was supposed to fix--”
Lindsey shakes her head, waving a dismissive hand in her direction.
“I know I did, but I can’t trust you to not cockblock them again.” She says, shooting the defender a glare, the woman smiling innocently.
“I would never!” She gasps, her hand on her heart.
Suddenly, a yellow vest flies in her direction, smacking her in the face, a vest previously being worn by Kelley O’Hara.
“Yes, you would.” She says, giving the blonde a shove, nearly pushing her off of the bench she’s sitting on.
“Hey!” Emily pouts, her former Washington Spirit teammate patting her on the head.
“So, what were you thinking?” Kelley asks Lindsey, her eyes boring into the back of her head.
Lindsey sighs, her shoulders sagging.
“I have no idea.”
Kelley strokes her chin, her eyes downcast as she stares down at the green field beneath her cleats.
Lindsey too is stroking her chin, focused on the ground beneath her feet, the woman humming.
A beat later two pairs of eyes widen, both women snapping their fingers, shouting at the same time.
“I’ve got it!”
                                                           ***
You were confused, incredibly confused, how could you not be when you’d received an urgent text from the team’s group chat, urging you to make your way to Emily’s hotel room, for what, you weren’t quite sure.
You screech to a halt when you realize Kristie Mewis is standing just outside the hotel room’s door, her brows furrowed.
When she sees you, she clears her throat, holding her phone up.
“You get the text too?” She asks and you wordlessly nod, the two of you awkwardly staring at one another before the door’s pulled open, revealing nonother than Emily Sonnett, the woman sighing deeply.
“Come in, there’s something we have to show you.”
You glance Kristie’s way, the two of you sharing a confused look before you make your way into the hotel room, all eyes on the two of you step further into the room.
“What’s wrong?” You ask nervously, attempting to swallow the lump in your throat.
“We have to show you something.” Kelley says somberly, your brows furrowing in question.
The defender nods.
“The both of you.”
You glance Kristie’s way, the blonde shrugging, the woman obviously just as confused as you were.
“Well, what is it?” You ask, the team pointing towards the closet.
“It’s in there.”
You swallow hard, your throat bobbing, thoughts of the nights previous playing in your mind, thoughts of what nearly happened between you and the woman standing beside you plaguing your mind, similar thoughts plaguing her mind as well.
You clear your throat, nodding towards the closet.
“After you?” You say with a small smile, and she waves her arm towards the door.
“No, after you.”
You huff, shuffling towards the closet slowly, the blonde right behind you.
It’s when the closet door is open however that you’re roughly shoved from behind, you and Kristie nearly falling into the closet, the door slamming shut behind you.
“What the hell are you guys doing!?” Kristie says, trying to shove the door open, but unfortunately, it’s being blocked from the other side.
“You’re not coming out until the two of you talk.” Lindsey says through the door.
“Orrr you could cut to the chase and just—OW!” Emily yells, the sound of a soft smack sounding from beyond the door.
“Shut up.” Lindsey growls.
“You didn’t have to hit me so hard.” Emily mumbles.
“Just TALK IT OUT.” Kelley yells from the other side of the door, Kristie sighing in defeat as she turns towards you, the two of you lowering yourself to the floor, sitting much like you had a few nights ago.
You nervously stare at your hands, unwilling to look at the woman sitting in front of you, the older woman studying you silently.
Kristie rubs the back of her neck.
“Uhhhh...” She starts, her voice piercing the silence within the closet.
“Today was a good game, huh?” You ask, the blonde smiling before she nods.
“It was. Your crosses were great.”
You smile, your cheeks flushing.
“Not as great as your corners.”
“Ummm, that is NOT the type of talking you should be doing!” Kelley yells through the door, and you cover your face with your hands, hiding your flushed cheeks, missing the small smile that plays on Kristie’s face.
“Honestly, my corners could’ve been better... I was, kind of distracted today.” She mumbles, your brows furrowing as you uncover your face.
“What were you distracted by?” You ask, your head cocking to one side.
Your eyes widen when the woman scoots closer, her voice dropping below a whisper, as to not be heard by your teammates on the other side of the door.
She takes a deep breath, her eyes fluttering shut.
“You.”
Your eyes widen, your heart stuttering in your chest.
“M-Me?” You stutter the woman chuckling.
“Yes, you.”
You wiggle under her gaze, the small smile on the woman’s face growing.
A surge of courage rises within you, and you shrug.
“To be honest, I was distracted by you too.” You mumble, the woman’s breath catching softly.
“Why were you distracted by me?” She asks hopefully and you inhale deeply, holding your breath in an attempt to settle your nerves.
You move closer, your knee brushing hers.
“I think you know why.” You say, your voice barely above a whisper.
Kristie stares at you silently for a moment before she leans forwards, her tongue swiping at her lips, her blue orbs flicking from your eyes, to your lips and back.
“Why were you distracted by me?” You whisper, a smirk stretching across her face.
“I think you know why.” She repeats your statement, your heart skipping a beat.
Your breath hitches in your throat as the woman grabs a fistful of your shirt, giving you a gentle tug forwards, your lips finally meeting hers.
The kiss was everything you wanted and more, the taste of her lips was intoxicating, the feel of them moving against your own made your skin tingle, goosebumps rising on your flesh as her hand releases your shirt and falls to your waist, her fingers prodding into your hips.
She’s about to pull back, but you chase her lips, your fingers tangling in her soft blonde locks as the two of you kiss softly.
Reluctantly you part, only to lean back in once more, your lips lightly brushing.
“W-Wow.” You stammer, panting heavily, Kristie’s lips splitting in a grin.
“Yeah... Wow.” She whispers, wrapping her arms tightly around you.
You’re so focused on the woman in front of you that you don’t hear the cheer from your teammates on the other side of the door, Lindsey and Kelley high fiving, as their plan had been a success.
Meanwhile, in front of the closet door, Alyssa Naeher rolls her eyes, though she’s unable to keep herself from smiling despite the fact that she’d literally been used to keep the closet door held shut.
“Can I move now?”
From within the closet, you can’t help but giggle, the woman whose forehead is resting against your own giggling as well, the laughter of your teammates making your smiles widen.
“They seriously used Allyssa to block the door?” You giggle and Kristie nods, her shoulders shaking.
“Yes, yes they did.”
You hum, bumping your nose playfully against hers.
“Hopefully next time, they won’t have to lock us in a closet to get us to kiss.” You smirk, the blonde biting her bottom lip.
“Oh, they won’t have to.”

All Coming Back (Emily Sonnett) PART 1
Tumblr media
I woke up a chose violence so enjoy a teasing part one of what is shaping up to be a very long fic that is going to take a hot second.
Word Count: 1,456
Warnings: Cliffhanger, mentions of past Soran
Part One, Part Two
-
Emily Sonnett was going to kill these kids one day. Okay, that might be a little bit dramatic, but she did silently vow to never volunteer to pick these two up for practice ever again. She had initially thought it would be fun but that was before the lost boot incident.
“Trinity, you literally have another pair at the facility. Get in the car.” Emily groaned, her foot tapping in irritation.
There was no way in hell they weren’t going to be late. While the apartments were close to Audi, they weren’t close to the girls training facilities and the drive wasn’t an easy one.
“But those ones don’t match Ash’s!” Trinity whined, crouching down to check under her couch.
“You can go one day without matching with your little girlfriend.” Barely managing to dodge the couch cushion that the rookie threw at her, Emily fought and failed at holding in her laughter.
“She’s not my little girlfriend!” The younger player was standing now, arms crossed and an incredibly embarrassed look on her face.
“Could’ve fooled me.” Emily smirked, leaning back against the apartment wall. Feigning disinterest in the conversation, she opened her phone and was about to open the national team group chat that was suddenly going insane for some reason.
“Bold words from someone who literally got matching tattoos with her little girlfriend!” Trinity snapped back, causing Emily to flush with embarrassment. Internally she was cursing the woman that is Kelley O’Hara for ever telling these kids about her own rookie years in Portland and the chaos that it resulted in.
“Lindsey was never my little girlfriend, Trin!” Throwing the couch cushion back at Trinity, who annoyingly dodged it with ease, Emily fixed the girl with a glare hard enough that almost anyone would back down. Unlucky for her, Trinity Rodman wasn’t almost anyone.
“Could’ve fooled me.” She teased, turning Emily’s own words back on her.
“That’s it!” Emily fussed, stalking across the room and grabbing the girl in a headlock. It wasn’t unusual behavior for the two of them to wrestle like this and Trinity was immediately game, trying to lean over and get the smaller blonde's feet off the ground.
“Guys, I’ve got them! Trin, you left them under my bed again. Seriously, you’ve got to stop doing that. At Least put them with mine like last time so I know to grab them again!” Ashley Sanchez was standing in the open doorway, holding up Trinity’s neon boots and sporting a giant smile.
Both Emily and Trinity paused their fighting to look at the girl. Emily, who was now hanging onto Trinity’s back, looked down at her teammate with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. Trinity at least had the decency to look embarrassed by Sanchez’s discovery of her cleats, a heat burning in her cheeks. Ashley, now past her need to announce her find, finally took in the position that her teammates were in.
“Am I… interrupting something?”
The shenanigans at the apartment complex proved to absolutely set the girls behind schedule as they managed to just barely get to the training grounds in time to meet their teammates who were standing around talking, ready to start practice.
“Listen, it’s all Sonnett’s fault! She drives like someone’s grandma!” Trinity exclaimed the second the trio made their way to the field.
“My fault?! If you hadn’t lost your boots in As- OOF!” Emily attempted to counter Trinity's accusation but she was quickly cut off by the taller player tackling her from behind.
“I got them here alive!” Ashley added, skipping over to set down her stuff and tie her boots on.
Still play fighting with Trinity, it took Emily a moment to recognize that all of her national team teammates were huddled together and staring at her.
“Hello? Why are you all looking at me like I’ve suddenly sprouted a second head? I assure you, there’s just the one of me and you’re all welcome for that!” Emily joked, smiling playfully at her teammates like usual. When her jest didn’t even get a laugh from Kelley, she knew something had to be up. She took a moment, looking from face to face as they all stared at her in some mix of what looked like sympathy and also shock?
“What? Seriously, Trinity couldn’t find her stupid boots…” She muttered, shifting uncomfortably under so many stares.
“You seriously don’t know?” It was Ashley Hatch who spoke first but didn’t do anything to clear Emily’s confusion.
“Don’t know what?” She asked, brows furrowing together. Emily had no idea what was going on with her teammates but if someone didn’t explain soon she was convinced she’d have a permanent worry wrinkle formed on her face.
“Em, when’s the last time you checked your phone?” Kelley asked softly, stepping forward to place a hand on the blonde's shoulder comfortingly.
“Uh, I don’t know? Probably this morning when I got my coffee. Why?” It seemed like a stupid question for Kelley to ask. The older defender knew that ever since Sweden, she’d been limiting her screen time.
“The Colombia camp roster dropped.” Hatch supplied, as if this cleared anything up.
“Cool? Vlatko called me last week, I know I’m on it. So what’s the big deal?” Emily still wasn’t understanding what was going on. When everyone had gotten the call last week, the seven Spirits who had been called up had celebrated together. Therefore, she knew everyone already knew she’d been called up and she knew they had to.
“Oh my God.” Trinity whispered behind Emily, the latter turning to look in confusion at her teammate who was staring at her phone.
“What?” Emily whined, resisting poking her head in to see Trinity’s phone screen.
“It’s Y/LN.”
And Emily could almost feel all the blood drain from her face.
She turned to look at her captain, jaw set and eyes narrowed.
“It’s what?” Emily gritted out, trying to see if she’d just heard correctly.
“Mal isn’t coming to camp. Vlatko called Y/N Y/LN and she answered.” Andi answered sympathetically.
While Trinity and Ashley looked at each other in excitement, every remaining ounce of color drained from Emily’s face. The younger players didn’t know anything about Y/N Y/LN. Not anything personal, anyways. They only knew her for the legendary footballer she’d become. But Andi Sullivan knew her very well. Worse than that? Andi knew of Y/N’s history with Emily Sonnett.
“Emily?” Kelley whispered, squeezing her shoulder gently to shake her out of the trance she was in. Of course, Kelley knew about Y/N too so it was no surprise she was currently treating Emily like the most fragile thing to ever exist.
“Okay.” Emily finally said, earning several more shocked looks.
“Okay?” Andi questioned, and Emily just nodded her head.
“Okay. It’s time to start training, move your asses!” As if she’d hit some hard reboot button, Emily was immediately back to her normal self. A smile on her face and a pep in her step as she raced onto the pitch.
Kelley and Andi exchanged concerned looks as the blonde raced past them. It was an act that her close friends knew well, the forced smile and change of subject. If they gathered one thing from that reaction? It was that Emily Sonnett was absolutely not okay.
Y/N Y/LN was on track to be the top pick in the 2016 College Draft. Fresh out of Stanford with a record that surpassed even Christen Press’s, the young forward was shaping up to be the pride of the NWSL. But then Barcelona called and you didn’t even hesitate to leave it all behind.
All of it. Everything.
Everyone.
You didn’t give anyone a reason. Nothing substantial, atleast. Just “when the best football club in the world comes knocking, you don’t say no!” and then you left.
US soccer fans were ecstatic. It was the first time they had ever seen something like that, a young US player being called to Barca of all places. Everyone was excited for you to go overseas, hone your skills, and earn a spot on the senior USWNT where you could showcase what you’d learned in front of the entire nation!
But you never came back. Not for Friendlies. Not for the Olympics. Not even for the World Cup.
And it wasn’t for lack of trying on US Soccer’s part. Jill Ellis in particular was belligerent. Before every camp your phone would ring. And every camp, it went to voicemail.
You gave some credit to Vlatko though. The first time you ever sent him to voicemail? He never called back.
Until for some reason, early in 2022, he called again. But this time you answered.

Note
not losing you 8 & 10
8. Did any real people or events inspire any part of this?
Um, let's just say I can relate to all the things Kelley is worried about in it, like not being viewed as a parent, or an equal parent.
10. Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
I don't know. I like O'Horan. It could've been Sohara, but sometimes, I think... I can't possibly write another fic about these two. Kelley and Lindsey felt right here maybe because of the uncertainty? I don't think she'd feel that kind of uncertainty with Sonnett.

Make Me Weak, Make it Hurt
Fandom: Women’s Soccer, USWNT
Summary:  Emily knew that Lindsey was going to call her when she saw the second ball slip past Casey to put two on the board for Spain. She knows how the conversation will go, the feelings it will bring it up, how it's going to start and end. She knows that she shouldn't pick up. But she does, because for Lindsey she always does.
Word Count: 2080 words
Status: Complete, One Shot, Part 1 of the Worst Intentions series
Playlist: Love Me With Your Worst Intentions Series Playlist
Author’s Notes: This piece is sad, and intentionally so. I wanted to explore the idea of one sided relationships. Someone who is always there for you, but you’re not there for them. I was working on another Sonnett/Horan fic at the time and in that fic, their relationship is much happier. But it doesn’t start that way, and my angsty heart wondered what would happen if it didn’t get better. If Lindsey didn’t want to commit to being with Sonnett, if she was just using her when she needed her instead of having this mutual love. And Sonnett is so enamored with Lindsey that she’s letting this happen because she loves Lindsey so much, even though she knows what’s going on is bad for her. And then of course Kelley is there to add on to the fact that she knows this is bad for Sonnett. So it’s not a happy piece but it is one of my favorites, and I might add onto it later, we’ll see. Thinking about doing a prequel to it!

Jealous - Tierna Davidson X Reader
Prompt: Hi! I really love your writing so much. I was wondering if maybe you could write a fic where the reader and Tierna are best friends and R visits T while she’s with the national team. Maybe T gets jealous when the rest of the team or another player gives R attention?
Tierna aggressively slammed her cleats back into her bag, determinedly not looking to the other side of the field where Y/N was talking to some of the staff.
“You alright T?” Alyssa asked the defender, watching her throw her balled up socks into her bag too.
“Peachy,” she grumbled, slamming her bag down and zipping it up.
Tierna took a glance towards her best friend, watching as she made the staff all laugh at something she said, one of the trainers squeezing Y/N’s bicep. The defender rolled her eyes, standing and storming towards the group, trying to release her anger and force a smile on her face.
“Hey Tier,” Y/N shifted her whole attention to Tierna when she approached, bringing a genuine smile to the defender’s face.
“Hey Y/N, ready for lunch?”
“You bet!” Y/N smiled, turning to the group of staff, “great meeting you guys, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Tierna gave her a strange look as they began to walk to Y/N’s car. Tierna had introduced Y/N to the team the night before, inviting her to supper, with her charismatic personality she hit it off with everyone. Players and staff stealing majority of Y/N’s attention the rest of the night, inviting her to watch the practice the next day.
“So, where we going for lunch?” Rose pushed between the two of them as they walked through the parking lot, she gripped Y/N’s hand, dramatically swinging their arms, Y/N chuckled at the midfielder.
“What do you feel like Tier?” Y/N looked over to her friend.
“Anything you want Y/N,” Tierna pulled away from Rose slightly.
“I could go for some Chipotle,” Sonnett jogged up, throwing an arm around Y/N’s shoulder.
“Uhh sure,” Y/N creased her eyebrows, “Tierna had suggested some local place, but Chipotle works too. I didn’t realize you were coming with us.”
“Of course we are,” Lindsey pushed Sonnett out of the way, causing her to begin to walk backwards, both blondes smiling.
“Shot gun!” Rose let go of Y/N’s hand, pushing Sonnett out of the way and running towards the cars.
“You don’t even know what car is hers,” Tierna mumbled, Y/N smiling, watching the rest of the soccer players gently shove each other in attempt to figure out what car is Y/N’s.
“We’ll keep it a secret and you can have shotgun,” Y/N grinned, nudging her shoulder against her friend. Both laughing as the three pointed to different vehicles, looking back hoping for confirmation, running to different ones when there was no reaction.
The friends managed to get to the car before the trio did, Tierna slipping into the passenger seat.
“I called shotgun!” Rose pouted as she was pushed into the middle, sandwiched in by Horan and Sonnett, each smiling proudly.
As much as Tierna wanted to be alone with her friend, she couldn’t argue that being with Y/N was infectious and didn’t blame a single person for wanting to spend as much time with the woman as they could.
Tierna rolled her eyes, jaw clenching when Sonnett slid into the chair Y/N tried to pull out for her. Y/N giggled and slid into the chair next to her, tugging Tierna’s sleeve forcing her to sit next to her before anyone else could. The defender groaned when the restaurant door opened, and more player filed into the room.
For the entire meal, the players all monopolizing Y/N’s attention. Tierna became more irritated as the meal went on, her time was limited with her best friend, but since she had been introduced to the team, she hadn’t gotten any time with her friend. She had only introduced Y/N so she could have more time with her while still in camp.
Players all asked Y/N questions, drawing her into conversation, Y/N smoothly entertaining everyone, asking equal questions in return, giving them the chance to talk about themselves too.
Y/N tried to talk to Tierna in between conversations with players, sensing her growing irritation, stretching her arm out to rest on the back of the defenders chair, squeezing her shoulder.
“So, Y/L/N, how does the boyfriend feel about you hanging out with this motley crew for a few days?” Pinoe asked from the far end of the table.
“Ahh no boyfriend, so probably good?” Y/N chuckled.
“Alright, how does the girlfriend feel about it?” Ashlyn asked from next to her.
“Nope, no girlfriend either,” she shrugged, casting a shy glance to the defender next to her, none of the players noticing, all focused on the new information.
“You’re single?” Kelley clarified with a smirk, nudging a few of the younger players around her.
“As pringle,” Y/N grinned, laughing at her own joke, “single as a pringle, get it? It rhymes,” she clarified when she saw all the confused faces, awkwardly giggling to herself. Her smile grew when she finally heard Tierna let out a genuine laugh all meal.
“They’re trying to figure out if you’re gay and worth hitting on,” Tierna leaned over and whispered into Y/N’s ear, her smile dropping slightly.
“Oh,” Y/N blushed, biting her lip she fidgeted with her fingers.
“So whatcha say? Worth hitting on?” Kristie smirked from across the table, Sonnett leaning forward with her. Pinoe and Ashlyn watching intently from the end, everyone else listening for the answer.
“Oh, uhh, I guess?” Y/N looked shyly around the table, “I don’t really know?” she looked briefly to Tierna again, blush deepening.
“How do you not know?” Kristie leaned froward, waggling her eyebrows
“I just, uhh, do? People don’t really hit on me,” she shrugged again, hoping the conversation would be over soon.
“Alright guys, I think that’s enough, she’s not going to come back if you keep this up,” Christen stepped in, seeing how uncomfortable Y/N and Tierna were.
Tierna mouthed thank-you to the midfielder, Y/N smiling gratefully with a nod.
“T is oblivious that Y/N is single because she’s in love with her,” Tobin leaned over to Christen, whispering in her ear.
“Nope!” Ali giggled from the other side of Christen.
“And Y/N doesn’t see that Tierna is jealous of everyone giving her attention?” Ashlyn added from the across the table.
“Nope,” Pinoe said loudly, gaining the attention of the team, she just smiled and wiggled her fingers in a wave.
Conversation gradually resumed, several of the players trying to encourage flirty banter with Y/N now. Y/N oblivious to the flirting, continued to talk with everyone at the table.
Lunch came to a close, the veterans ushering the players out, reminding them of practice that afternoon practice in a couple hours.
Tierna was quiet the ride back to the hotel, staring blankly out the window in the back seat, Sonnett having won the race for shotgun on the way out.
Y/N glanced in the rear-view mirror while she drove, hoping to figure out what was wrong with her best friend. She bit her lip when Tierna let out a sigh, she didn’t have any idea why she was so upset; Tierna had been so excited to invite Y/N to camp when it was in her city.
“Are you coming to practice later?” Rose asked from the middle seat as they pulled into the hotel, the other two blondes waiting hopefully for the response.
“Oh uhh, not sure,” Y/N turned fully in her set once she parked, watching Tierna for some kind of reaction, “I don’t think so,” she followed up with the defender didn’t react.
Tierna looked quickly to Y/N, her eyes sad while they stared at each other.
“Ahh come on!” Lindsey shook Y/N shoulders over the driver seat.
“I really don’t want to overstay my welcome,” Y/N broke the staring contest, tapping her fingers ion the steering wheel.
Tierna didn’t know what else to say, but quietly got out of the back seat. The other soccer players following behind.
“Y/N is awesome T! Why haven’t you brought her around more?” Sonnett squeezed Tierna’s bicep as they walked through the hotel lobby, “any chance you could I could get her number? Or do you think she would take mine?” the blonde seemed a little nervous.
“Uhh I don’t know Son, maybe, I’ll talk to her,” she shrugged noncommittally.
“You rock T!” the blonde defender skipped ahead, giving a small fist pump.
“Tierna!”
Tierna turned quickly to the hotel entrance, Y/N walking towards her. She tilted her head to the side, confused, “Y/N?”
“Is everything alright Tier? Are you okay?” Y/N reached out, gripping Tierna’s hand, running her thumb along the knuckles. Eyes soft while she watched her best friend.
“Yea, of course,” Tierna squeezed her hand back, trying to give her a reassuring smile.
“You were so quiet at lunch. Do you want me to leave? Did I overstep with the team? Or you?” Y/N looked so worried.
“No, definitely not,” she shook her head, “Sonnett even just asked me for your number,” she motioned vaguely behind her to where the blonde had walked, “so yea, theres that, yours if you want it.”
“Oh uh, I’m not worried about that. I’m worried about you,” Y/N squeezed her hand again, trying to make eye contact with Tierna.
“I’m fine, really,” Tierna tried to reassure, pulling out her phone.
“What are you doing?” Y/N asked, eyebrows creasing at the sudden change.
“Getting you Sonnetts number,” she wouldn’t look up, focused on her phone.
“Damit Tierna, I don’t want anyones number, I want you!” Y/N pulled the phone from Tierna’s hand.
Tierna brought her eyes up to watch Y/N, waiting to see what else she would.
“I don’t care if the whole team asks me out, I just want to be with you. I didn’t plan to spend the week with your team, I planned to spend it with you,” Y/N tapped a finger to the center of Tierna’s chest.
“What?”
“She likes you,” Ali smiled as she walked past.
Tierna looked between the defender and her friend, Y/N nodding along, smiling.
“Tierna was pouting because she was jealous,” Christen added as she walked in behind as well.
“I wasn’t pouting,” Tierna stuttered out, blushing.
“But you were jealous?” Y/N asked hopefully.
Terna bit her lip and nodded along.
“I like you Tier, I have for a while, I was just too much of a wuss to ask you out,” Y/N blushed, looking away.
Y/N began to pull her hand away when Tierna started laughing at her. Tierna tightened her grip, stopping the movement, “me too Y/N. It killed me watching everyone fawn over you the last two day.”
Tierna let out a relieved sigh when Y/N stopped pulling away, both instead starting pull each other into a hug.
“What do we do now?” Tierna hesitated to ask as they pulled away.
“I don’t know, I think we start by not talking about it in the middle of hotel lobby,” Y/N giggled, both of them looking around to see most of the team watching, “but uhh, after that, I don’t know. I think we go on a date? Not much really has to change I don’t think.”
“No, I don’t think so,” Tierna agreed, nodding along, “how about dinner on my day off in a couple days? You can still hang around with the team if you want, but I want to be able to do this right,” her confidence growing the more she spoke.
“I want to do it right too,” Y/N smiled back, “now go break the news to Sonnett. I’ll see you later.”
The pair hugged one last time, both smiling wife before pulling away, Y/N leaving the hotel.

She Might be a Forward, but You’re a Keeper (Emily Sonnett x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: Emily x reader where r doesn’t have the best reputation and is sorta known for being a troublemaker but once Emily comes into the picture everything changes. Livin’ The Dream by Morgan Wallen is what made this pop into head.
Author’s Note: Firstly, Firerfly and i thank the one voter so much for voting for this fic. Secondly this almost didn’t happen because my dumbass deleted from the doc just seconds after we had finished it. Thank you to @literaryhedgehog for saving it.
“You have to do it Sonnett,” Lindsey said sternly, taking a sip of her drink and ignoring Emily’s puppy eyes. She wasn’t going to feel bad about this. It was only fair, since she was the one who got them caught.
“Yeah,” Rose added, crossing her arms. “consider it your punishment for not following through on our prank on Pino.” Meghan had been pissed, and the lecture they had gotten did not seem to fit the crime, especially since they had been stopped. All they wanted to do was start an itsy bitsy prank war. Where was the harm in that?
“Oh come on.” Emily whined, glancing back and forth between the two girls and the woman standing on the other side of the room. “She would have murdered me if I let you put blue dye in her shampoo,” Emily said, her bottom lip trembling.
“And now Y/n might kill you so we’re even,” Lindsey shrugged, fighting a smile. Whatever way this ended, it would be entertaining for her.
Some might think that that it was a gross overstatement, but it wasn’t. You had a reputation. A terrifying history of explosions on the pitch, and a complete lack of approachability off of it. You didn’t give a shit what anyone thought, Alex and Kelley being the only exception, but you had known them forever so it didn’t count.
You didn’t have many friends (contrary to what the public though), but you were viciously loyal to the people you actually let get close to you.
The youngins had been warned that you did whatever (and whoever) you wanted and they should steer clear. You wouldn’t mess with them as long as they didn’t mess with you.
The problem was that the blond defender was smitten from the first moment she saw you this season. When she had first joined the team you had just been another veteran and the excitement of joining the national team had overshadowed everything else. But then you transferred to Washington during Club season and she started noticing you everywhere.  Partially because you were everywhere- weaving around the field and her vision, at team events and now here at camp, and… she might have been caughts staring once or twice. Maybe Emily had tripped over her own feet a few times because she accidentally got distracted by the sight of you pouring water over your head after a hot practice, who's to say. Either way,  her two meddling best friends knew about her little crush and had decided to use it as blackmail.
“I hate you guys,”  Emily said, downing half her drink for liquid courage.
Lindsey rolled her eyes and shoved the defenders shoulder. “No you don’t,”
“You better get your ass over there before she starts flirting with another girl,” Rose said with a disinterested wave of her hand, motioning towards the dejected Brunette walking away from you. There was a parade of women all night, and it seemed none of them were having any luck.
Your eyes followed the woman as she left, but your face didn’t betray any emotions, appearing completely uncaring to anyone who happened to glance in your direction.
Emily nodded. It was now or never she supposed.
*****
You took an uninterested sip of you beer, swirling your finger around the glass when you set it back down on the bar. You had never exactly found team bar nights fun. It felt like thousands of people would come up and talk to you (and call you by name) and expect you to instantly be their friend.
You didn’t need anymore friends.
You took another sip of your flat beer, making a mental note to chastise Alex later for her terrible bar choice, and stared listlessly at the football (American style) game on the tv.
“Hey, wanna hear a joke about paper?” You turned slowly to look at the speaker. You squinted at the blond defender, tilting your head to the side, not letting your surprise that a youngin actually had the balls to talk to you off the pitch show on your face.
She scratched the back of her head grinning impishly at you. “Never mind, it’s tearable.”
You raised your eyebrow at the woman, you lips ticking up slightly at her adorable fidgeting.
That seemed to give her confidence, as she set her drink down and slid into the unaccompanied stool next to you.
“Why didn’t the vampire attack Taylor Swift? She had bad blood.”
You suppressed your snort at the terrible joke, hiding it behind a sip of your bad beer.
“It’s more fun if you actually let me respond before you hit me with the punchline,” You smirked, thoroughly entertained by the pink starting to bloom on the defenders cheeks.
“Oh, my bad.” Emily said, making an embarrassed face. “Sorry, I often tell dad jokes- most of the time he laughs!’
This time you did snort, the smile you were holding back finally cracking across your lips.
“Just most of the time? Sounds to me like you need to get a better one,”
“Is that a challenge I hear?” Emily said, a wicked gleam in her eye. A terrible joke competition was right up her alley.
“Not at all. I could never compete with someone with your… particular skill set. You should be a magician because you just make girls disappear,” You wiggled your fingers, mimicking a magical motion.
“Ouch,” Emily said, holding back giggles.
“You could let me ice that burn as consolation,” You shrugged, also holding in a giggle.
“Nah, I just need to wait a little for it to warm back up. You know what the hottest time of day is?”
“No, what?”
“Two- flirty!”
You cackled loudly, nearly throwing your head back.
****
“Is the Ice Queen actually smiling?” Kelley asked, sliding into the booth beside Alex, passing a disgustingly fruity drink to her girlfriend.
“It appears so,” Alex nodded, pushing the stupid mini unbrella out of her way to take a sip.
Her eyes followed your laughing form, taking in how your eyes lit up, and the way you leaned closer to the blond defender. It wasn’t your typically cocky posture when you talked to girls, you seemed much more unguarded.
“Who knew Junior had it in her. I never thought she’d work up the courage,” Kelley smirked over the edge of her drink. Emily’s crush on you wasn’t a secret (to the two of them at least), but they never dreamed Emily would actually make a move.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Y/n look at anyone like that.” Alex started thoughtfully. “Well maybe-”
“We don’t speak her name Alex,” Kelley interrupted with a glare. They didn’t talk about your previous relationship. It had nearly ruined you completely.
Rose and Lindsey joined Alex and Kelley where they were standing, all four trying to hide the fact that they were staring at you and Emily together.
“You enjoying the show too?” Rose said, shaking her head slightly as she watched. What the heck could you two be talking about? For a few seconds she saw you talk animatedly then - in unison with Emily - double over in laughter.
“You know something about this that we don’t?” Alex asked, glancing at the two younger players.
Rose and Lindsey exchanged a look. “Sonnett’s only over there because we made her,” Lindey said.
“How?”
“Told her we’d rat her out to Vlatko for the snack incident last camp,” Rose shrugged. Revenge was best served with blackmail.
“I didn’t know she had a soft side,” Lindsey said after a few minutes.
“Only a few people actually get to see it,” Kelley shrugged. You were guarded but not heartless. It just took a special touch to break that cast iron shell.
****
“Okay, okay. So I know a guy who's great at soccer but is super untidy.”
“You do?” You asked, biting your lip. You weren’t sure why you were suddenly nervous.
“Yeah, he’s just a Messi guy!” Emily said, already laughing on the last word.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. “I think these are just getting worse,”
“Oh come on, you were the one who told the one about a frog liking hoppy beer,” Emily said, rolling her eyes. “I think that one was objectively worse.”
“Whatever you say cutie pie,” you said, leaning forward on your hand. You weren’t usually this interested in conversation. You were more of an… in and out kinda girl. But there was something about Emily that intrigued you. That pulled you in and made you want to know more about her than just her bedroom preferences.
“Pie sounds so good right now,” Emily said sighing deeply. “I don’t even have a joke to go with that, I just like pie. Although I think I read one at some point for Pi day, I could google it…”
“I don’t know any jokes either, but I do know a place pretty close to here if you wanted to ditch these losers,” You offered, picking idly at your napkin.
“Losers? I didn’t know the men’s team was here!” Emily smirked. You didn’t know if she was blowing you off, or just completely missed what you were implying.
“See that one was actually a good one. Those idiots wouldn’t know how to score if they were shooting at the broadside of a barn,” You shook your head. Half of the women’s team midfield had better finishing stats than all the men’s forwards. They were terrible.
“Oh come on. They’re not that bad. At least 9% of them are keepers,” Emily laughed. “Well that’s their position anyway. But yes, I would love to go get some pie with you. Just don’t tell Dawn I broke my diet.”
“No promises Princess,” You said standing, and holding out your hand to the woman. You kissed the back of her hand when she laced her fingers with yours, earning yourself another giggle.
It made your heart flutter, and you just wanted more.
“You sure you’re okay missing the end of the party?” Emily said hopefully, scanning as if to make sure no one would waylay you on your way out the door. The last thing she wanted was to get stopped by one of your parade of brunettes.
“Better than okay. The word happiness might start with an H, but mine starts with U.”

Stoic keeper and sick girl chapter 4
Summary: (Y/n) and Lexa tell the team everything and emotions surface.
Also, COVID19 doesn’t exist in this fic!
warnings:  Talking about cancer. if this is a trigger don’t read. Everything mentioned is from my own experience as may not apply to everybody.
Talk about past trauma’s and shitty childhood.
part 1 -part 2- part 3
Tumblr media
Waking into the dining room you noticed it was still rather empty. The only ones who were already there were Alex, Kelley at one table and Alyssa at another. Alyssa was probably the safer one to sit at. The younger ones would probably want to joke with Kelley and move around a lot, Alyssa most nights stayed at her table and was one of the most rational people on the team.
The blond keeper looked up when you neared with a nervous Lexa. You tried to reassure her with a hand on her shoulder as you let her closer to the table.
“Alyssa I like you to meet Lexa. Lexa this is one of my many good friends, Alyssa Naether. I know she looks scary but she is a big softy inside.” You introduce. Alyssa rolls her eyes at you but introduces herself to the girl. She could see that the girl was relaxed around you.
“it’s nice to meet you, Lexa.” Lexa doesn’t say anything but does give Alyssa a little nod so the keeper took that as a win.
“is it okay if the two of us sit with you? That way she can take off her facemask and eat in peace.” You ask Alyssa, who looks a bit confused at your panicked state. Normally you were far more relaxed with her.
“sure.” She said trying to reassure you with her eyes. If you were freaking out then it has to be pretty serious about what you had to tell or what was going on. The only thing she could do was support you.
“sure.” Alyssa tried to reassure you with her eyes and a kind smile.
“Thanks, Lyss, you’re the best.” You beamed the keeper with your best smile as you put Lexa’s bottle down on the table and lead Lexa toward the food.
“come on Lexa let’s go see if they're in anything you like.” you tried to stay optimistic, you knew how hard it could be to eat when everything you smelled or saw tasted disgusting. Even too today you had days you couldn’t swallow anything and had to fall back on meal replacement shakes.
Throughout the whole buffet, there was nothing Lexa seemed to fancy at the end you sighted, Lexa looked up with a small face.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered under her breath, your heart broke. It wasn’t her fault she wasn’t feeling like eating.
“hey, you don’t have to be sorry about this okay. I will talk with the trainers, normally they have some shakes for me when I don’t feel like eating. I will get you to try one-off those okay. Maybe a cola.” She shakily nods looking down at the floor. Taking her chin between two fingers you make her look up at you.
“say it to me.” Your voice is stern but comforting. You don’t want her to live in the constant fear of disappointing you. You give her an encouraging smile.
“I have nothing to be sorry about.” She told you. Not as confidently as you liked but it was a start. You lead her back to the table and tell her you will be back. Taking her sports bottle with you to fill with some cola.
Alyssa watched as you placed the little girl on the chair in front of her and reassured her that you wouldn’t be gone long. Alyssa had never seen you this tender.
Like the rest of the team, Alyssa had questions, after the end of the game. You had disappeared just after the final whistle had been blown and they had found you thirty minutes in the trainer's locker room with a little kid. When Ali and Christen had tried talking to you, you had given them some very specific orders that the girls couldn’t place. Now seeing the girl in front of her with the face mask and bandana with baseball cap those question only rang louder but they were for later.
“Hey, Lexa.” Alyssa tried to get the girls attention by calling her. Het girl looked up at the keeper with big uncertain eyes.
“Don’t you want anything to eat?” Alyssa asked pointing to her empty plate. All Lexa did was shake her head and look down at the table. Alyssa decided to drop it not wanting until you got back, it was clear you had a connection with the little girl.
The silence in the room was broken when more of the team dripped into the dining room and when more of the younger players it even became rowdy and Lexa flinched at every harsh sound and hoped you would come back fast.
You returned to the dining room with Lexa’s sports bottle filled with cola and one of your shakes. After doing the whole story to Vlatko he had promised to help you with the legal papers and that set up an appointment with your doctor for tomorrow and one for yourself also.
After the whole ordeal, you felled exhausted, all the emotions of the day catching up to you and all you wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep.
Emily spotted you halfway through the room and strode toward you. Like the rest of the team, she had heard about the kid and had seen her with Alyssa. No one of the younger players dared to approach in fear of the older keeper.
“hey (Y/N) how’s the little squirt doing,” Emily asked hoping you would spill something but you weren’t int the mood to talk to anybody.
“buzz off Sonnett.” You growl not being able to contain your frustration and exhaustion. The conversation with Vlatko was a heavy one. Now the stress of getting your blood draw tomorrow was causing extra stress. You had awful veins and you dreaded it.
Emily was taken back by your tone, normally it took you a lot more to rile you up.
“wow, what got your panties in a twist?” Emily tried to lighten your mood.
The conversation between you and Sonnett had drawn the attention of the rest of the team. You could already see Ali and Ash make their way toward you.
Lexa had gotten of her chair and was running toward you, she could see how stressed you were and she wanted to help because you always helped her.
“(Y/N)!” Lexa grabbed your hand tried to give it a reassuring squeeze but because of her weakened state, it wasn’t hard and also tried to give you a reassuring smile. You didn’t know if you should laugh or cry, how could a child that had gone through all she had to be still so compassionate. Sinking through your knees make you almost eye level with her.
This caused all the veterans to immediately come running toward you while the younger players just watched. There was a small panic going around the team, you never showed emotions so openly.so I kind of freaked them out. Even though you hadn’t shed a single tear you looked exhausted.
“I’m okay Lexa. Thank you.” You whisper to the girl, looking at her gave you enough courage to scrape yourself together and lead her back to the table. When she sat down you handed her the coke and shake, which looked at sceptically but opened it when you told her it tasted like strawberries. After the sip, she takes another and another.
When the team decided you have ignored them enough they send Ali and Ash to talk to you. Seeing as they had the best track record with you.
You could feel their eyes burning into your back and it was just a matter of time before they tried to talk to you. For the moment you just watched Lexa enjoy her shake.
“your friends are staring at us,” Lexa commented looking at you from under her cap. She looks cute with one of your caps and hoodie.
“I know. They will come over here any moment to talk. They like to do that. You want to tell them?” you would leave the choice to her, it’s her life and you would support her either way.
“I want to stay with you.” She confesses looking up at you with big eyes. It makes you happy she felled secure with you.
“I know that sweety but that doesn’t mean I am forcing you to tell them. I’m not going to force you to tell them anything you don’t want to.” You assure her.
“But I want to be honest with them.”
“well if you are brave enough maybe I could half as brave and do the same.” You stroke her cheek and smile at her. Krashlyn took that moment to interrupt you.
“What should you tell us?” Ashlyn asked while she and Ali sit down in front of you before you look up you catch Lexa’s eye.
“ready little warrior.” She gives you a simple nod. Turning to the couple and try to give them a reassuring smile.
“Lexa and I have to tell you all something.” Suddenly a lot of voices started talking. Asking what it was and how you met Lexa. You cut through it with a sharp whistle and instruct them all to take a seat and listen. You had never seen them sit down so fast and be shut up, maybe you should try that whistle more.
“you want to tell them first?” Lexa swallowed hard before she looked up at the soccer players.
“okay guy’s this is Lexa I met her today after the game, after talking to her I have decided to become her legal guardian. Vlatko is helping me with the papers.” You pause for the information to sink in but not long enough for chaos to break out.
“wait with the questions and judgment until after Lexa and I have done our story.” You gave Lexa a reassuring smile while glaring at your teammates. Lexa grabs your hand for support.
“I have leukaemia and (Y/N) had promised to stay with me so I don’t have to do the therapy alone. I hate being alone in the hospital and she makes me feel safe.” The weight of the word behind the childlike didn’t go unnoticed by you.
Many of the soccer players in front of you had unshed tears in their eyes. After her story, Lexa buries her face into your shoulder. Hugging her back in return almost seemed like second nature.
“you were so brave, little warrior. I’m so proud of you.” You Lexa while hugging her close. When I was obvious she wouldn’t be say anything more.
“I saw Lexa in the stands alone and could immediately tell what the problem was. A couple of kids were picking on her for it, that is when I decided to step in and take her inside with me, I didn’t know how bad her immune system was so I didn’t want to take any chances. Tomorrow both of us have to go to the hospital for a blood test. Then I can tell how much resistance she is against bacteria.” You explain stroking Lexa’s back soothing her and trying to minimize her stress.
“why would they be picking on her?” Christen asks, not understanding why Lexa would be bullied. You have to chuckle at their childlike innocence, most never had to deal with people looking at them weird or shinning them for being different.
“Because people are A-holes, who mistreat everything that is different and not to normal standards.” You grith out between clenched teeth, memories from your past resurfacing. You still remember the stares and the whispers from when you were in a wheelchair because you were to weak to walk. People were far less subtle than they thought they were.
“yes, they are.” Lexa agrees with you while climbing in your lap to hug you. You figured all the emotions and exhaustion were getting to her, so you drab your arms around her so she can rest a bit.
The whole team looks at you shocked at how soft you are with the little girl. They had never seen you so soft. Some of the veterans were concerned when you told them you were becoming this little girls guardian, to team standards you were still a baby. Only being a couple of months older than Tierna but seeing you like this changed their minds. Also, an unspoken promise was going through the group, they would help you in any way they could.
Taking a deep breath you looked at your team, who were watching you and Lexa with big eyes. Now was as good a time as any to drop your own bomb, hoping that having Lexa with you will lessen the yelling they were going to do.
“There is something I want to tell you guys,” you speak before losing your nerves, freaking out internally. What if they start treating you differently? What if they start looking at you with pity?
Well, you couldn’t go back now.
“There is another reason I stepped out into the crowd today. I saw a lot of myself in Lexa. Because I also had leukaemia as a kid. Twice actually.” Gasp go through the group moments before questions are fired at you.
“(Y/N) sweetheart, why didn’t you tell us?” Ali asks coming closer so she can give you a reassuring smile and doesn’t scare you away.
“This is the only place I feel normal.” You confess not looking up at your team.
“it’s tough being a kid with leukaemia, people treat you different when they know. I was diagnosed for the first time when I was six. You are forced to grow up mentally and emotionally so fast sometimes you forget you are only a kid. I learned to put things into perspective fast, fearing you are not going to going to make it to the next day makes other kids tantrums banal in comparison. This caused me to stick out around my peers and made it hard to make friends. Not that it bothered me that much at that age, I was in the hospital a lot. You take a moment to take a couple of breath before you continue.
“Football is something I love and I didn’t want to be treated differently because of it. That is the big reason I didn’t tell anybody.” A lot of the woman around you are crying or holding each other for comfort. Lexa tightened her hold on you.
The silence in the room is heavy buy familiar. Most people didn’t know what to say after you told them so you decided to let them process everything first before they had to speak to you.
“Alright, that is enough emotions for one day. I’m taking Lexa back to my room so she can rest.” Getting up you grab her sports bottle with you while making your way to the elevator with Lexa in your arms.

This is just a little fic cause I haven't written uswnt in a while
It was time for another camp. You were excited for it mainly because you could get a break from the hell people call school.
You were the last to arrive and considering it was a team bonding day, you figured everyone was already gathered. Walking into the conference room, you saw everyone huddled together watching something on a phone Sonnett was holding. When the door closed everyone’s heads shot up and stared at you in awe.
You frowned in confusion and started taking your jacket off. “Hi?”
They simply continued to stare at you until noise from the phone broke them out of their trances. Listening closer, you realized what they were watching.
“No!”
You ran over to the blonde and snatched the phone out of her hand.
“Hey!”
Frantically, you turned the device off and set it far away from everyone. You looked up at everyone bewildered with your hands hooked behind your neck.
“Why-why were you watching that? How did you even find that?”
“Well,” Sam starts. “We, mainly Sonnett-”
“Hey!”
“Got curious ‘cause like you don’t tell anyone anything and we hardly know anything about you. So then we found out what school you went to and searched it up on insta and boom; choir page pops up!”
You shake your head and pick the phone up to scroll through the page. You groaned and threw your head back seeing yourself in half of the videos.
“This is embarrassing.”
Christen, the ever-loving wonderful person she is, steps towards you and throws her arm around your shoulders.
“Don’t be embarrassed. You sound amazing.”
You hum unconvinced and start scrolling through the profile again. You stop once you see a song your teacher had practically forced you and another girl into doing. You smiled at the memory of her but soon stopped realizing they were still staring at you.
“There is one thing though,” Ash starts. “Who was that in that duo? I saw a little uhh… chemistry there.”
You rolled your eyes and put the phone in Christen’s hands. Grabbing your things, you made your way to the door.
“I’m leaving.”
“Come on! It was a valid question.”

Not that kind of librarian Sonny- Tierna x Reader
Tumblr media
This is my first ever fic and I’m really nervous about it so tell me what you think. Prompt: “I work at a library and you continuously ask me to help you find books about the most random topics, are you on some sort of quest?”
On this particular day when Tierna walks into the Stanford library she stops dead in her tracks when she sees you standing at your desk. You are the most beautiful girl she has ever seen. She is so lost in thought that she doesn’t notice you walking right up to her.
“Can I help you with anything?”
She blinks quickly and looks around confused. Suddenly she can’t remember why she’s here. Panicking she blurts out the first thing she can think of to keep you from walking away.
“Dinosaurs!”
An adorable blush starts to creep up her freckled cheeks as she realizes she practically shouted at you. You smile softly and let out a quite chuckle.
“Do you have a specific dinosaur in mind?” You say as you start to lead her towards the correct section.
“Uhh no not really” She laughs nervously with a hand on the back of her neck. “I’m Tierna by the way, Tierna Davidson.” She finishes while extending her hand to you.
What she didn’t know is that you knew who she was the second that she walked through those doors. You were a huge soccer fan and even played all throughout high school, but your senior year you were told that if you got another serious concussion it could result in brain damage so you decided to hang up your boots for good to stay healthy.
Despite what you went through you still loved the game so when you arrived at Stanford you went to any game you could. Tierna is one of the best players to come through the Stanford program so it was no surprise to you when she finally got her first call up. From the very fist time you saw her play you were smitten, and now is no different.
“I know who you are Superstar,” You can’t help but grin as you watch her eyes widen. “I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” You say as you finally bring your hand up to meet hers.
Just as you are reaching the books about dinosaurs you hear your boss call out to you, “(Y/N)! I need you to put these books back where they go!”
You can’t help but feel disappointed at your time with Tierna being cut short. For a fleeting moment as you turn towards her you think she may look disappointed too.
“Duty calls, I’ll see you around Superstar” You say as you bring your hand up to brush her arm. You’re already beginning to walk away before she can respond, but as you look back you see her nodding.
With her original purpose for coming to the library long forgotten Tierna quickly makes her way back to her dorm room texting into the USWNT groupchat as she went.
Baby T: SOS I JUST MET A CUTE GIRL AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO
Frat Daddy Sr.: Aww shes a baby gay.
Frat Daddy Sr.: I remember those days
Frat Daddy Sr.: It took me like 3 months to ask out my first girlfriend
Baby T: 3 MONTHS?!?!
Not so Baby Horse: Probably not helping worms
Frat Daddy Sr.: My bad T...
Frat Daddy Sr.: I’m sure you’ll be fine
Pressi: Just take a deep breath and tell us about this girl honey
Baby T: I was headed to the library for only god knows what at this point and I saw her standing by her desk and I couldn’t help but stare because she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. By the time I realized that she was standing next to me I had already forgotten what I had came for so when she asked what I was looking for I just blurted out the first thing I could think of. AND she already knew who I was and didn’t seem bothered by it at all.
Dasani: Wait I thought librarians were only hot in pornos?
PewPew: Eww Sonny, not that kinda librarian
The Great Horan: I don’t see the issue here, just ask her out
Uncle: Yeah just go back tomorrow and ask her to coffee or something
Rose🌹: Leave it to Lyss to be the voice of reason haha
Baby T: Just ask her to coffee, how hard could that be? Thanks everyone, minus Kelley and Emily
Frat Daddy Sr.: HEY!
Dasani: HEY!
The next day you’re sitting behind your desk when you see Tierna walk inside. When she spots you she smiles and starts walking towards you. As she gets closer you call out, “I get to see the Superstar two days in a row? Must be my lucky day”
Her step falters as a deep red blush rises to her cheeks. Making Tierna a blushing mess is quickly becoming your new favorite thing. “What can I do for you today Superstar?”
She stands rooted to the spot staring blankly at you. You start to think that maybe she’s not as into you as you thought and maybe you should cut back on the flirting when she finally rushes out, “Doyouwannagogetcoffeewithmemaybe?”
“I’m sorry, what did you say? All I got out of that was coffee. You’re gonna have to talk slower babe.”
Her eyes widen and somehow her blush gets even darker. She clears her throat before speaking again.
“I uh... I asked if you.. if you... had any books on how to make coffee.”
You give her a weird look as you turn to your computer to see if the library has such a book. While you are distracted Tierna facepalms at her nerves getting the best of her once again. She is pulled out her thoughts by the sound of your voice.
“You’re in luck Superstar, we have one book on how to make coffee.” You say as you get up to pull the book off the shelf and check it out for her. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Uh..Nope. That’s it I guess. Thanks (Y/N)”
You watch disappointed again as Tierna walks away. Before your brain can catch up to what you’re doing you grab a pen and run after her. “Hey Superstar! Wait up!”
Tierna turns around slowly and watches as you jog up to her. She’s extremely confused since she thought that she blew it with you once again. When you finally reach her you grab her arm and before either of you think about it you write your number on her arm. When you see the goofy smile spreading on her face as it dawns on her what just happened you knew that you made the right decision.
“Call me Superstar.” You say with a wink as you start walking back towards your desk.
As you walk back you hear a load yell and turn just in time to see Tierna land from her flying fist pump. You shake you head with a smile, this goofy girl held the key to your heart and she didn’t even know it yet.
On her way back to her dorm Tierna excitedly pulls out her phone to update the team.
Baby T: GUYS GUYS GUYS! I GOT HER NUMBER!!!
Pressi: That’s great sweetheart! Now, do we get a name for this mystery lady of yours?
Uncle: So I guess the plan worked?
Baby T: Oh yeah! Her name is (Y/N), and not exactly...
Frat Daddy Sr.: What do you mean “not exactly” it either worked or it didn’t
Baby T: Well you see, I was GOING to ask her out to coffee, but then she was flirting with me and called me babe out of nowhere so I panicked and asked for a book on how to make coffee...
Not so Baby Horse: Oh honey
Dasani: Wait how did you end up with her number then!?
Baby T: She ran up and wrote it on my arm when I was leaving
PewPew: So now that you got her number are you going to invite her to the game Saturday?
Baby T: Should I?
PewPew: You said she already knew who you were, so that means shes a fan right?
Baby T: Good point. Thanks!
Your shift ended almost an hour ago and you still haven’t heard anything back from Tierna. You were starting to worry that you had written your number down wrong when you hear your phone go off.
Unknown: Hey it’s Tierna
Maybe?Tierna: From Stanford
(Y/N): Hey Superstar, I was beginning to think you didn’t like me anymore ;)
Superstar: Oh, sorry lol. So we have a national team game coming up this Saturday in LA and I was wondering if maybe you wanted to come watch and like meet the team and stuff
Superstar: But like its totally cool if you already have plans, or if you don’t want to go
(Y/N): I’d love to
Superstar: Really? Awesome. Okay cool, I can’t wait.
(Y/N): Me either, I’ll see you Saturday
Saturday could not come soon enough, you drove 6 hours on Friday to get to your hotel and relax before the game. Tierna had to leave in the middle of the week to meet up with the rest of the team so this will be the first time you’ll be seeing her since you gave her your number. Luckily you bought her USWNT jersey last year so you’re able to show your support.
You get to the game early so you can watch the team warm up, when your eyes meet Tierna’s you can’t help the excited squeal you let out as you wave to her. She had pulled some strings to make sure that you got a seat close to the bench ans was excited to see that the staff went all out and gave you front row seats.
On the field Emily notices that Tierna has gotten distracted and follows her line of vision. When she shes your happy dance and notices your jersey a devilish smirk appears on her face before she calls out to the team.
“Hey look eveybody, T’s Sexy Librarian is here” Her snickering is interrupted by a thump on the back of her head from both Christen and Ali.
“Get your head out of the gutter Sonnett”
From your seat you watch on amused at the reaction that your presence has caused. Soon after that the game was starting, the US were playing the Korean Republic and while it would not be as exciting as a rivalry game it was still a very good game. Tierna started and played a full 90 with some great plays on the ball.
Once the game was over and most of their gear was packed up Kelley noticed that Tierna kept glancing back towards your seat behind the bench. Tierna jumped when she felt Kelley’s hand on her shoulder.
“Oh, hey Kelley”
“Just go ask her out already dude, you’ve been texting her non stop since you got here so I think its safe to say she likes you too.” She whispers in her ear.
“Now go get your sexy librarian!” She laughs as she shoves her towards you
You smile as you see that ever present blush start to creep up her face as she walks towards you. When she finally reaches you she takes a deep breath before speaking.
“(Y/N)? I really like you. As in make me forget my on name kinda like you. From the very first second I saw you in the library last week I was awestruck by your beauty. That’s why every time I came to the library instead of getting what I came for I left with some book I didn’t need. If you’ll let me I’d like to take you on a date so that we can get to know each other without a phone screen and 350 miles between us.”
Throughout her little speech your smile continued to grow, but towards the end you could read her face and see that the nerves were starting to fight their way to the surface so you decided to interrupt her before she could start rambling.
“Hey Superstar?”
“-oh uh, yes?”
With a smirk you watch her eyes go wide as you lean forward and grab the nape of her neck.
“Just shut up and kiss me already,”
For once she stopped overthinking and listened to her heart.

More Than Just A Matter Of Security (Kelley O’Hara x Reader)
Tumblr media
Anonymous Request: A Kelley O’Hara one when reader is like a new security guard or a personal body guard to to the team so they start flirting and the team teases Kelley about it so out of sexual frustration they hook up in some random ass places.
This fic is INCREDIBLY long, so buckle up.
WARNING TONS OF SMUT BELOW.
Kelley’s about to speak when you come into view, strutting towards the team, wear all black, your shirt tucked into your pair of black pants, topped off by a pair of black Nike shoes.
“DAMNNNNNN, the new guard got CAKE .” Sonnett mumbles, earning a nudge from Lindsey.
“Stop being a pervert.” She mumbles, and the defender snorts.
“Tall order Horan, tall order.”
Kelley watches a cocky smirk spread across your face when your eyes lock with hers, a single brow arched as your eyes shamelessly rake down the defender’s front.
“Ohhhhhhhhh...” Emily teases as you walk past her, turning around so you can walk backwards, your eyes, now running down Kelley’s back.
“I think the new guard thinks KELLEY’S got cake.” Emily snickers, earning a punch on the shoulder from the defender who turns towards you.
You grin, your tongue trapped between your teeth as you give her a wink.
“Looks like SOMEONE was appreciating the view.” Megan smirks, giving the defender a nudge, the woman’s cheeks flushing.
“Shut up.”

It’s later that day that you approach her, a smirk on your face.
“I figured I’d come and introduce myself, considering you can’t keep your eyes off me.” You smirk splits into a cocky grin and Kelley’s brows arch.
“Oh, I can’t keep my eyes off you?” She scoffs. “It seems the other way around to me.”
You hum, shrugging.
“I mean every time my eyes are on you, yours are on me.”
Kelley turns towards you with a smirk, sizing you up with her eyes.
“I can’t help it, it’s hard NOT to stare at you.” She winks and you chuckle, your cheeks flushing.
“I’m Kelley.” She grins, a dazzling smile that makes your heart skip a beat.
“Well Kelley...” You take a step closer, the woman standing her ground, a few inches between the two of you.
“I’m Y/N. It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.” You bite your bottom lip and Kelley smirks.
“I can’t say I mind that.” She winks, walking away.
Unashamedly you watch her go, your eyes on her ass, that is until she glances over her shoulder, smirking.
“Oh, I can’t say I mind either.”
Meanwhile on field, the rest of the team is watching the interaction between the two of you, eyes wide.
“They’ll totally hook up in the first month, bet.” Megan snaps her fingers and Ashlyn turns to her.
“I say 2.”
The two share a glance, eyes narrowed before Megan sticks her hand out, Ashlyn taking it with her large gloved one.
“You’re on.”
                                                          ***
“So that’s what you’re here to do?” Kelley asks as she moves to the sidelines, standing beside you with a smirk.
“Stand here and look pretty?” You ask and she rolls her eyes.
“Has anyone ever told you, you’re cocky?” She asks and you chuckle.
“Loads of times.”
Kelley stands beside you for a minute, crossing her arms across her chest and puffing her chest out.
“In all honesty, I don’t know why your team needs me when they have you.” You grin, the defender turning to you with a laugh.
“Huh?”
“Everyone knows how spicy you can be.” You grin and she rolls her eyes.
“I’m not that spicy.” She mumbles, throwing her hands up in the air when the ref doesn’t call a foul.
“What in the fuc-
Kelley freezes, turning to you with narrowed brown orbs.
“Shut up.”
“Did say anything...”
                                                          ***
The longer you travel with the team, the closer you get with all of them, considering you’re not only the same age, but have the same kind of humor as well. If you were being honest though, you’d grown the closest with Kelley.
Of course, the two of you flirted like a couple of teenagers, always trying to one up each other, but it had never went passed that.
You would’ve been lying if you said you didn’t feel anything for the defender, her smile making your heart skip a beat, but there was something else that she made you feel, and that... THAT had been sexual frustration, the woman going out of her way to tease you, a flirtatious smirk on her face every time she saw you.
The team had accepted you as one of their own, considering you acted like a number of them all rolled into one person, inviting you to movie nights and such.
“What’s on your mind tough guy?”
You jump at the sound of Emily’s voice and you smirk, the woman standing beside you with her arms crossed across her chest.
“Straighten out your back a little.” You hum, the blonde doing as you ask, now at her full height.
“Perfect.” You smirk, noticing the fans snapping pictures of the two of you as the game goes on, on the pitch.
“Don’t show me up too much, I need the job.” You smirk and the blonde huffs.
“I can’t stand straight too long, hurts my spine.” She whines and you grin.
“Your spine damaged by years of bad posture?” You tease and Emily gasps.
“I feel so attacked right now.”
You give the blonde a nudge, missing the small smile on Kelley’s face, the defender’s brown orbs off of the game and on you.
“Be careful O’Hara, your crush is showing.” Alex teases, the defender pouting.
“Shut up.”
                                                          ***
“Damn.” Kelley mumbles at practice when she spots you, significantly dressed down from your usual choice of clothes.
“I can’t say I’m against you wearing these more often.” Kelley sticks a finger beneath the hem of your muscle tee and gives it a snap, your heart stopping in your chest.
“I wouldn’t have worn it if it was cooler, so sorry I have to distract you for the day.” You smirk, the woman’s cheeks flushing from more than the heat.
“Oh, you think I’m distracted by you?” She asks and you grin, taking a step towards you.
“I think you are.” You lick your lips.
Kelley smirks, a brow arched.
“And I think you’re distracted just as much by me...” Her brown orbs flick from your eyes, to your lips and back.
You shrug, grinning.
“Maybe.”
Kelley opens her mouth to speak, but is cut off by the sound of a whistle, the defender jumping. She clears her throat, sending you one last glance, a grin splitting her face in half.
“Maybe you distract me too.”
Your eyes widen as you watch her go, the woman grinning cockily as she moves towards your teammates.
You clear your throat, glancing around as you do your best to ignore the dull ache between your legs.
                                                          ***
Weeks and weeks of teasing have Kelley on edge, the woman’s core aching every time she sees your cocky smirk and twinkling Y/E/C orbs.
“What are you doing?” You snort when Kelley abruptly grabs your wrist the second the two of you get in the backstage of the arena.
The defender glances around before she opens a random door, when she’s satisfied no one will see the two of you and that the room is empty she shoves you inside, locking the door behind her.
“Umm, why’d you lock the door?” You ask with an arched brow, but inside your absolutely buzzing, wondering if what you’ve been thinking about was about to happen.
“Because you’re going to make me cum.” She says a matter of factly and your eyes widen.
Before you realize what’s happening, you’re shoved back against the wall behind you, the defender cupping your cheeks as she pulls you down into a kiss.
The defender sighs as your lips meet, Kelley’s lips prodding at your bottom lip until your lips part.
You let out a growl when your tongues meet for the first time, Kelley letting out a moan as her hands move to untuck your shirt from your pants.
Kelley inhales sharply when you push her back against the opposite wall, your hands running down her body and palming her through her shorts.
“Fuck.” She snarls, her eyes screwed shut as you rub your palm against her, the woman’s hips rolling.
Kelley’s breath hitches as your strokes pick up speed, but seconds later your freeze, burying your face in Kelley’s neck as you let out a groan, the defender stroking you through your black jeans.
“Oh fuck.” You growl as you rock into her, your own hand again moving against the front of her shorts.
You let out a pitiful whine when Kelley’s hand leaves you entirely, but then she’s tugging you forwards, burying her face in your neck as she straddles on of your legs, her leg slipping between your own.
Kelley’s fingers prod into your back as the two of you rut into one another, grunting and groaning into each other’s necks.
The sound of Kelley’s soft sighs and moans in your ear drags you closer and closer to the edge, your rhythm sloppy.
Are you gonna cum?” You whisper in Kelley’s ear and she nods.
“Ye-Yeah, I’m...” Kelley’s mouth hangs open, brows furrowing as she lets out a lengthy cry, muffled by your shoulder.
You let out a raspy groan in her neck as you orgasm, quicker than you ever had before, but in this case, it was because this had been building up for months.
Your hips soon still, as do Kelley’s the two of you panting heavily into each other’s necks.
“Yeah, this is going to become a regular thing.” Kelley mumbles into your neck and you snort.
“Has my vote.”
                                                          ***
“Shit.” Kelley mumbles as she gets on the bus, glancing over her shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” Alex asks, brows furrowed and the defender huffs.
“I left something in the locker room...” She rolls her eyes. “I have to go back and get it.”
“I’m sure we can wait?” Alex shrugs and Kelley shakes her head.
“I’m sure Y/N can give me a ride to the hotel, but thanks.” Kelley slips off the bus, missing the way Megan glances at Ashlyn, the two grinning.
“Oh, I bet she can give her a ride back, pay the fuck up.” Ashlyn holds a hand out to Megan who lets out a growl, fishing her wallet out of her bag.
“You don’t know that that’s what they’re doing...” Ali mumbles, but the second the words leave her mouth everyone turns to her, brows arched.
“Yeah, I realized it was dumb after I said it.”
                                                          ***
“How’d you get them to leave without you?” You chuckle as Kelley rolls her hips into you, the defender laughing as you roll the two of you over, her legs wrapping around your middle.
“Told them you’d give me a ride.” She smirks and you grin, a brow arched.
“Ohhh, I can definitely do that.”
Kelley rolls her eyes.
“Shut up and fuck me.”
“Ask nicely.”
You grunt when Kelley bends her leg, rubbing it against the crotch of your pants.
“Shit fuck.” You shudder, eyes slammed shut as Kelley watches you with a grin.
“Am I asking nicely enough?” She teases, her tongue trapped between her teeth and you nod.
“Ye-Yeah you’re asking nice enough.” You grunt, licking your lips.
You shift, your thigh against the apex between Kelley’s thigh as the two of you roll your hips the car shifting slightly as the two of you hump like a couple of teenagers in the back seat of a car.
“Y/N...” Kelley moans and your eyes widen, the sound of the defender moaning your name pushing you over the edge.
“Kelley...” You groan into her neck, the defender climaxing moments later with a loud cry, your hips slowing after a few moments.
The windows have indeed fogged up from the after practice exercise you’d done in the backseat of the car and you snicker.
“You breathe too heavy.”
“Shut up asshole.”
                                                          ***
“Jesus Christ, you’re practically salivating.” Megan smacks your chest and you scoff.
“Over what?”
“Ummm, Kelley just lifted her shirt to wipe her face.” Ashlyn snorts and you shake your head.
“Didn’t notice.”
The two women share a glance.
“Sureeeeeeeeee you didn’t.” Ashlyn smirks, she and Megan making their way to the bench to sit by their teammates, leaving you to stand rigid, your eyes darkening every time you watch Kelley’s calve muscles flex as she runs downfield.
Soon, the familiar ache builds between your legs and you growl, hoping that halftime comes fast.
                                                          ***
“Now?!” Kelley asks as you drag her to a secluded spot backstage and you nod.
“I mean everyone needs a little halftime pick me up.” You shrug and Kelley snorts.
“I can’t disagree.”
The second you get her to an empty room your hand is down the front of her shorts, your fingers tracing her slit through her panties.
Kelley untucks your shirt from your pants and stuffs her hands down your pants and into your boxers, the woman’s fingers running through your folds.
“F-F-Fuck.”
“You’re so wet already.” She whispers and you groan, the woman’s fingers rubbing against the throbbing bundle of nerves between your legs.
Kelley gasps when you slip your hand out of her shorts and slip them into her panties, your fingers stroking her in a way that makes her body shudder.
“Yeah, like that.” Kelley moans as you teasingly pinch the bundle of nerves between her legs.
“And you said I was wet.” You whisper in her ear, the woman crying out when you tease her entrance with your fingertips.
Kelley drops her hips, the top section of your finger slipping inside her.
“Eager, are we?” You ask and she shivers.
“Please, inside.” She begs and you’re happy to obliged, slipping two of your long fingers inside of her, the woman letting out a shuddering moan.
“Fuck, yeah.”
You rest your forehead against hers, snarling when her fingers slip inside you.
“Come on Y/N, I want you to fuck me.” She whispers in your ear, her hips starting to roll, her mouth hanging open, eyes screwed shut and brows furrowing.
Still in Kelley’s state, her fingers move, her thumb rubbing against your clit as her fingers slip in and out of your tight heat.
You can feel your release creeping up on you, and by the way Kelley’s walls flutter around your fingers, she’s close too.”
“Fuck I’m gonna cum.” Kelley moans, your fingers curling in a way that pushes her over the edge, the sound of her moans pushing you over the edge seconds later.

Ashlyn rolls her eyes, turning to look at Sonnett who has her hands over her ears.
“I can’t unhear that.” She pouts as Ashlyn moves towards the door, slamming her palm against the door.
“Seriously? You guys couldn’t wait until AFTER the game? Get your asses to the locker room.” The goalie rolls her eyes, she and Sonnett taking their leave, Ashlyn consoling the blonde defender.

Meanwhile, back inside the room you and Kelley are looking at each other with wide eyes.
“Fuck.” Kelley growls as your fingers slip out of her, your eyes locking with hers as you clean her essence from your digits.
The defender follows suit, her fingers leaving your tight channel before slipping into her mouth, the woman humming at the taste.
“Looks like that cat is out of the bag.” You shrug and Kelley rolls her eyes, smacking your chest.
“Shut up idiot.”
“Hey, if you weren’t porn star moaning, we wouldn’t get caught.”
“Hey! At least I don’t snarl like a grizzly bear.” She rolls her eyes and you smirk.
“If I remember correctly, that snarl as made you cum a few times.”
Kelley’s eyes narrow as she glares at you, cheeks and ears flushing pink.
“Shut up.”
Reluctantly, you head back to the locker room, smiling when you realize Kelley has taken your hand, her fingers slipping between yours.
By the time you get to the locker room, everyone turns to you with knowing smirks, except for Emily, the woman hiding her face in Ashlyn’s chest.
“How dare you scar her.” Alex rubs her back and the two of your cheeks flush.
“Sorry?” You shrug unapologetically, and Kelley smacks your chest.
It’s in that moment that Alex realizes the two of you are holding hands, her blue orbs darting from your joined hands to Kelley’s face.
The defender jerks her hand away from yours and moves towards her locker, leaving you behind with the phantom feeling of her hand in yours.

Holding Kelley O’Hara’s hand felt so right, righter than holding someone’s hand had EVER felt.
You drum your fingers against your bicep, watching the game go on in front of you, your eyes on a certain defender as she runs downfield.
“You care about her, don’t you?” You pick your head up, eyes wide when you see Alex Morgan standing in front of you, the woman giving you a soft smile.
“I don’t know what you’re-
“Bullshit.” She snorts and you sigh.
The forward doesn’t relent though, standing beside you, her arms crossed across her chest.
“We’re just messing around.” You whisper lowly, the woman leaning close to hear you, rolling her blue orbs as she pulls back.
“That doesn’t mean that feelings can’t develop between the two of you.” Alex growls and you huff.
“It’s just sex, that’s it.”
Alex pats your shoulder.
“The longer you keep telling yourself that, the worse  it’ll make you feel.”
You watch the forward move towards the bench and take a seat a frown tugging the corners of your mouth down.
You know she was right, but really admitting it to yourself meant cutting off what was going on with Kelley and honestly, you didn’t want that to end.

A knock on your hotel room door makes your brows furrow.
You’d just gotten out of the shower and into your clothes to get ready for bed when someone started insistently knocking on the door.
One look through the peephole and you’re tugging the door open, a brow arched when you see Kelley O’Hara standing on the other side.
“You making a house call?” You snort, the defender rolling her eyes as she slips into your room.
“Who are you? Get out of my room!?” You say teasingly, Kelley grabbing your arm and pulling you into the room, kicking the door shut behind you.
“I needed to talk to you.” Kelley sighs and your eyes widen, your heart skipping a beat in your chest, but the voice in the back of your head tells you that she isn’t here to talk about pursuing more with you, so you plaster on a charming smile, as per usual and swagger towards the bed.
“We can’t hook up anymore in public.” Kelley says in a single breath.
You snort.
“Yeah, I figured since we got caught.” You shrug, sitting beside her on the bed and Kelley nods.
“Do you uhhh...” Kelley swallows hard, her gaze on the hotel’s tacky carpet beneath your feet.
“Do you want to stop ummm, what we were doing?” Kelley asks and you lick your lips, staring at the woman’s profile.
The woman nervously fidgets, glancing out of the corner of her eye at you every few seconds.
“Are you just going to stare at me?” She asks and you chuckle.
The woman lets out a squeak when you lift her into the air and place her in your lap.
“Do you want to stop?” You ask and Kelley licks her lips.
You inhale sharply when the woman gives her hips a roll, her bottom lip trapped between her teeth.
"Now that I’ve seen you half naked...” She whispers, her hands running down your chest, nails digging into your muscular stomach.
Kelley leans in, pressing her lips against yours, your heart stuttering in your chest at the feel of her lips against yours.
Her fingers tangle in your hair as your lips part, Kelley’s tongue slipping into your open mouth, caressing your tongue with hers.
Kelley gives her hips a roll and you shudder, your arms slipping beneath hers, your hands on her back.
The two of you part, a grin stretching across her face.
“It’s not fair if I’m the only one half naked at this party.” Your brows arch and Kelley rolls her eyes, holding her arms up in the air.
“Well?” She winks and you grin, pulling her shirt over her head and tossing it to the floor.
You hum loudly.
“Still a little overdressed.” You teasingly stick your fingers in the hem of her sweats and give them a tug.
You watch with wide eyes as Kelley stands, pulling her sweats off with no hesitation, your cheeks flushing as you drink her in, realizing she’s in nothing but a thong.
“Better?” She asks, watching as the muscle in your jaw jumps and you nod.
“Ye-Yeah, be-better.” You stammer, the defender grinning as she goes to climb into your lap.
The defender gasps when she ends up flat on her back, her head on the pillows at the head of the bed.
“First time having you in a REAL bed.” You smirk, ducking down to latch onto her pulse point, the woman tilting her head back as you teasingly lash her pulse point with your tongue, giving it a nibble before giving it a hard suck.
“Shit.” Kelley groans, her fingers running down your back as you suck a bruise into her neck.
“That’s going to leave a mark.” You tease the defender sighing as she cups your cheeks, pulling you into a kiss.
“Fuck, I don’t care.” She whispers against your lips gasping when your leg slips between hers, your hips rolling as you kiss, tongue sloppily swiping at one another.
Kelley whines when your lips leave hers, but soon her back’s arching when you’re nibbling on her collarbone, your lips trailing down to the swell of her breasts.
As you suck the pillowlike flesh into your mouth Kelley pulls you closer, forcing more into your mouth before you release it with a loud pop, quickly turning your attention to her other breast.
Kelley shoves you back and your eyes widen, the woman fumbling with taking her bra off.
She grumbles as she tries to unhook it, her eyes narrowed as she glares at you.
“You get it.” She pouts and you smile, slipping a hand behind her and flicking your wrist, her bra immediately coming undone.
“Wipe the smirk of your face.” She grumbles, taking her bra off and tossing it on the floor.
“Your turn.” She flicks your sports bra strap and you smirk, jerking it over your head.
Immediately Kelley ducks down, latching onto your nipple.
You tilt your head back, sighing as the woman’s tongue lashes against your nipple.
“Fuck.” You groan as Kelley does the same to your other breast, kissing and nipping on the erect bud with a smirk.
“Shit Y/N.” She whispers as you roll your hips, legs wrapping around you as she buries her face between your breasts, nipping and sucking the flesh until you’re covered in bruises.
You shove her back onto the bed, the defender chuckling as you slither down her, lighting brushing one of her nipples with the tip of your tongue.
“You don’t get to have all the fun.”
Kelley can’t keep still, as your lips latch to her nipple, the woman’s back arching as you lash the stiff bud with your tongue.
“Like that.” Kelley sighs and you grin, pulling back to give her breasts a few love bites, the defender grinning as you latch onto her other breast, giving it similar attention.
“Take them off.” Kelley commands as you pull back, your eyes wide.
“Are you...” You swallow hard, your eyes widening when Kelley sits up, cupping your cheeks.
Her brown orbs dart around your face as her thumb runs across your bottom lip.
“If you want to.” She whispers, leaning in to playfully bump her nose against yours. “I want to, but ONLY if you’re okay with it.”
You lick your lips, your nose brushing Kelley’s as your lips meet in a tender kiss.
Considering your eyes are closed you can’t see when Kelley’s eyes snap open, doubling in size when something more than lust runs through her.
Kelley’s eyes shut again just as you pull back.
“I want to.”
Your eyes remain locked with hers as you run down her body, your fingers slipping into the waistband of her thong.
Kelley nods, licking her lips as you strip her off the wet garment, your eyes still locked with her brown orbs until she spreads her legs, your eyes dropping to the apex between her thighs.
“Jesus, you’re soaked.” You whisper as you press a kiss to her calf, the woman’s tongue pushing between the tight line formed by her mouth.
You give her opposite calf equal attention before kissing up her thighs, stopping just shy of where she needs you most and sucking a bruise into her flesh.
“Please Y/N.” She whispers and you smirk, nibbling at her hip bone.
“Please what?” You ask and she growls, tangling her fingers in your hair and shoving your head between her legs.
“So forceful.” You smirk and Kelley growls.
“Y/N just-
The woman’s brows furrow, her eyes screwing shut and mouth falling open as you run your tongues through her folds for the first time.
“And I thought you tasted good on my fingers.” You whisper, blowing on her slick slit and the woman’s back arches.
Soon you’re back between her legs, a feeling Kelley can only describe as utter pleasure, the woman gasping and moaning as you find each and every spot that makes her toes curl.
“There!” Kelley yells, tangling her fingers in your hair, her back arched as your tongue moves just the way she likes it.
Kelley can feel the heat building in her lower belly, her lips parted as she grabs fistfuls of your hair, rocking into your eager mouth.
“Y/N, I’m gonna...” She squeaks.
“Cum baby, cum for me.” You whisper against her sex and Kelley cums with an obscene groan, her essence coating your tongue which you’re more than happy to lap up.
At the way Kelley’s hips quiver you get a devilish idea, pulling her flesh up with your thumb before lashing your tongue against the hidden, most sensitive part of her clit.
“FUCK Y/N!” She screams, cumming again with a cry, her back arched as much as humanly possible.
You help her down from her high, pressing a tender kiss to her sex before you’re pulling back, the defender covered in a thin sheen of sweat as she pants heavily, her lips parted.
You fall onto the bed beside her, the defender rolling over, burying her nose in your neck.
“I’ll... I’ll be ready in a minute.” She pants and you grin.
“You don’t have to.” You grin and she shakes her head.
“No... I...” Kelley grins, giggling.
“Damn, you’re good at that.” She shivers and you smirk, rolling on your side and wrapping your arms around her, the sweat covered woman wiggling closer, her nose buried in your chest.
You give her forehead a tender kiss, the woman smiling as she nuzzles into your chest.
“I’ll just take a power nap...” Kelley yawns and you nod.
“Sure, you will.”
The defender mumbles tiredly and you smirk.
“Sleep.” You whisper, kissing her forehead and the woman smiles, nuzzling closer before her breathing evens out and she’s fast asleep.
You look down at her with a smile, the defender smiling in her sleep making your heart skip a beat.
“Night Kel.” You whisper, your eyes fluttering shut.
Soon you too are fast asleep.

Kelley wakes well before you, smiling when she smells your body wash, the delicious ache in her hips reminding her of the night’s activities, as if she could actually forget the mind-blowing orgasms, you’d given her.
Kelley stares up at you through her eyelashes, a smile stretching across her face at the way your mouth hangs open, soft snores coming from your open mouth.
“I always knew you’d be a snorer.” She whispers against your chest, her eyes fluttering shut.
Kelley’s eyes flash back open though when you pull her closer in your sleep, mumbling under your breath.
Kelley tilts her head back, kissing the underside of your jaw, nuzzling against the spot she’d just kissed.
The defender cups your cheek, tilting your head down so she can look at your sleeping face. She leans in, her lips inches away from yours as her eyes flutter shut, soon she too is again fast asleep.
                                                          ***
Waking the next morning, your lips mere inches away from Kelley’s is something you could definitely get used to.
You let out a lengthy sigh, your eyes widening when Kelley’s sleepy brown orbs flutter open.
“Finally, you sleep like a bear.” She laughs, voice raspy and you chuckle.
“How long have you been awake?” You ask, stretching and she smirks.
“A while...”
“Were you kissing me in my sleep, weirdo.” You tease and she rolls her eyes.
“No, I just wanted to be close enough to do this when you woke up...”
Kelley leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips, cupping your cheek with one hand and taking your hand with the other, intertwining your fingers as the two of you kiss softly.
If Kelley were clothed, the kissing would be incredibly tame, though when she rolls the two of you over, her bare chest pressing against yours, you know it’s anything but.
You inhale sharply, the woman smirking, ducking down to kiss your neck.
“I suppose I should return the favor for all those hickies.” She whispers kissing and nipping at your flesh before sucking a bruise into your neck.
“Kel...”  You gasp, the woman smirking.
“Hmmm?” She hums as she nibbles on your earlobe and you sigh, the apex of your thighs throbbing considering you hadn’t orgasmed the night before.
“Ohh, I bet you’re still turned on...” She whispers in your ear, sliding down your body, pushing herself up on her hands, hovering over you.
“How do you think this would feel...?” Kelley lowers herself towards your chest and you swallow hard, grunting even at the feel of Kelley’s breath on your chest.
“Shit.” You sigh as Kelley lightly flicks her tongue against the sensitive erect bud, your back arching.
“You are still turned on...” She whispers as she gives your nipple a bite, earning a groan as your body shivers.
The amount of pleasure you feel JUST from the woman lightly stimulating your nipples is enough to push you over the edge, but soon she’s pulling back with a smirk.
“Oh no, you’re not cumming yet.” She smirks, watching as a bead of sweat runs down your face. She crawls up your body, her lips pressing against yours, the two of you again getting lost in kissing, the sound of your lips meeting the only sound in the quiet room.
“FUCK.” You yell when Kelley, unbeknownst to you, slips a hand between your legs and palms you through your boxers, your brows furrowed and eyes screwed shut.
“Are you ready for me?” She asks and you nod, your lips parted.
“Ye-yes, p-please.” You grunt, inhaling sharply when Kelley tears your boxers off, the cold air hitting your slick heat.
“God, you’re soaked.” Kelley says as she spreads your legs, licking her lips.
Kelley smirks, her brown orbs locked with your Y/E/C orbs as she lowers her face to your core.
“I think I’ve teased you long enough.” She whispers, pressing a kiss to your pulsing clit, the small touch making your back arch.
Kelley smiles up at you, the sight of your pleasure, her own core throbbing.
The defender dives between your legs, her eyes rolling back in her head at the taste of your sex.
“God-da-damn.” You stutter, your fingers tangling in Kelley’s hair as your hips roll, Kelley paying extra attention to your clit.
Kelley slips two fingers inside you and you let out a literal snarl, the defender moaning against your sex, her body shuddering at the sound.
“Fuck, I want to hear you make that sound again.”  She whispers against you, her fingers curling inside you.
“Kel, I’m...”
“I want you to cum, cum for me baby.” She whispers and you do, letting out a groan as you cum, the defender smirking against you, her own release creeping up on her as she rubs herself against the bed.
The orgasm is like one you never experienced, your toes curling, your eyes rolling in the back of your head as you convulse.
“Ohhh yeah...” You shake, twitching, gasping when Kelley’s fingers slam into you, never ceasing, the woman taking a play from your own book by pulling the hood of your clit back and sucking on the newly exposed shaft of your clit.
“KELLEY!” You cry out, letting out a guttural roar as you cum again, your body convulsing even harder.
“Oh fuck, Y/N.” Kelley cries, burying her face in your thigh as she cums, her body shaking.
“God-Fuck... Shit.” Your body shivers harder, the sound of the woman’s orgasm prolonging your own.
You finally still, your eyes still rolled in the back of your head as you twitch and quake from the aftermath of three powerful orgasms.
“Shit Y/N...” Kelley sighs as she crawls on top of you, flopping down on top of you, the two of you panting heavily.
“Jesus.” You whisper, wrapping your arms tightly around her, the two of you covered in a thin sheen of sweat.
“Is today your day off...?” You whisper and the defender nods.
“Yeah.”
You grin.
“Well I think I know what we’re doing today.” You smirk and Kelley giggles.
“I can’t say I mind the sound of that.”
                                                          ***
“So, I guess Y/N and Kelley are fucking all day, and I’m NOT about to go knock on that door.” Ashlyn shakes her head as she takes a seat beside Ali at breakfast.
“Y/N is just digging a deeper hole.” Alex frowns, everyone turning to her with an arched brow.
“What do you mean?” Lindsey asks and Emily scoffs, sitting down beside her.
“Y/N is in love with Kelley, but doesn’t want to admit it.”
The sound of gasp makes everyone still, the team turning around to see you and Kelley standing side by side, your eyes downcast and Kelley’s eyes wide.
Kelley can’t seem to get herself to move, even when you turn on your heels and take off, leaving her and the team behind.
“Kel...” Alex moves to her feet, placing her hands on Kelley’s shoulders.
The woman blinks, glancing around, her brown orbs doubling in size.
“Did you...” Kelley looks at Sonnett, the blonde’s eyes wide.
“Did you say she loves me?” She asks and Emily swallows hard.
“You weren’t supposed to find out this way...” She whispers, unaware that you’re already upstairs stripping out of your clothes and grab the essentials, leaving everything else behind.
“Wait, she, she loves me?” Kelley asks, chuckling in disbelief as she moves to sit beside Sonnett, her and Alex sharing a glance.
Kelley remember the tender kisses you’d shared that morning, how she felt when she woke in your arms that morning and how she felt seeing you were asleep in her arms.
Kelley blinks rapidly, the woman smiling as she jumps to her feet and runs off.
“I LOVE HER TOO.”
Alex shakes her head, smirking.
“I hope they figure this out...”
Little did she know you had already made your escape, taking off down the sidewalk and further into the city.
Kelley comes down minutes later, tears in her eyes.
“She took most of her things... She’s gone.”
                                                          ***
“Shit fuck.” You shiver.
Unfortunately for you, it had started to snow, and also unfortunately for you, you hadn’t exactly grabbed a coat in your haste to leave.
“Of course, it would be fucking snowing, of fucking course.” You growl under your breath as you shake.
Even through the cold you march down the sidewalk, unwilling to go back to the hotel.
You know Emily didn’t mean to tell your secret, you didn’t blame her, it was jus bad timing and it couldn’t have been worse.
Wandering around the city you eventually end up at a park, the sidewalks now dusted with snow, as you begrudgingly sit on a bench, your body shuddering.
Yeah, it was cold, but you weren't going to the hotel, not yet, because then you’d have to face her and the harsh reality that she didn’t feel the same.
                                                          ***
“Is there ANYWAY we can do to find her!? It’s cold and she didn’t take her coat!” Kelley motions to your suitcase and Emily clears her throat.
“We’re going to Alex’s room; it smells of sin in here.” Emily mumbles, earning a narrowed eyed glare from the defender.
“Come on, I’m sure we can figure out a way to find Y/N.” Megan leads the charge to Alex’s room, the entire team brainstorming.
“Wait, can we track her through Insta or something?” Julie snaps her fingers and everyone turns to her, smirking.
“Ertz comes through for us again!”
                                                          ***
You don’t know how long you sit on the bench, unmoving until someone gives your shoulder a shake.
“Y/N, hey, we need to get you back to the hotel...”
You blink rapidly, your brows furrowed.
“Lys?” You ask, the goalie nodding.
“Yeah, it’s me. Jesus, you’re freezing.” She mumbles, helping you to your feet, your bones aching from the cold, a thin coating of snow covering you.
“How long have I been out here?” You mumble, glancing around and Julie frowns, coming from out of nowhere, slipping a coat over you.
“A couple hours.” She frowns and you shudder, her, Crystal, and Carli leading you down the sidewalk.
“Come on, let’s get you back.”
You swallow hard, stopping, much to everyone’s dismay.
“Does she hate me?” You ask shivering and Julie shakes her head, smiling.
“Of course not.”
Alyssa smiles, shaking her head.
“She never could.”
Carli and Crystal gently place their hands on your back.
Carli smiles.
“But you two need to talk.”
You nod, swallowing hard.
“I know.”
                                                          ***
“Alyssa found her, they’re heading back to the hotel now.” Christen sighs in relief.
“Is she okay?’ Kelley asks worriedly and Christen frowns.
“Apparently she was just sitting on a bench covered in snow.”
Kelley pinches the bridge of her nose, sighing.
“Damn it Y/N…” She mumbles, her heart racing.
The second they get back to the hotel, Kelley basically leaps out of the car, leaving her teammates behind as she makes a beeline for the elevator.
Kelley makes her way down the hall towards your room, eyes wide when she sees Julie standing outside your door.
“Is she okay?” The defender asks and Julie nods.
“Freezing, but okay.”
Kelley moves towards the door, but before she can step inside, Julie catches her wrist.
“She really cares about you Kel.”
Kelley nods, giving Julie’s hand a squeeze
“I know.”
                                                          ***
The second the door opens you freeze, your eyes slamming shut.
The bed dips and your eyes flash open, locking with Kelley’s dark brown orbs.
Kelley cups your cheeks, your flesh freezing beneath her hands.
“God, you’re so cold.” She whispers, surprising you when she slips under the covers with you, wrapping her arms tightly around you.
“Kel I-
Kelley shushes you softly.
“We’ll talk about it later, let’s just focus on you getting warm.”
Kelley immediately notices how rigid you are and she frowns.
“Look I promise we’ll talk, okay? But right now you need to get warmed up, the #1 priority.”
Soon the rest of the team is upstairs, peeking in the room to see the two of you huddled together, the defender’s arms wrapped around you.
“Let’s give them some privacy.”
Ashlyn shrugs.
“Orrrrrrrrr… we could always listen through the wall since our room is right beside theirs…”
Everyone shares a glance.
Ali grins.
“Alright you talked me into it.”
She basically runs into the hotel room, her teammates following close behind.
“Didn’t take much.” Ashlyn snorts.
“I’m invested, if I have to listen to them screw all night long, I deserve to know if they’re together!”
                                                          ***
Kelley pulls you close, her eyes screwed shut as she holds your still shivering and shuddering body.
“I was so scared.” She whispers, nuzzling into your cold neck, the woman’s hot breath on your neck making you sigh.
“I’m sorry I scared you.” You say, voice raspy and raw from disuse.
Kelley pulls back cupping your cheeks, though she wanted to focus on warming you up, she also wanted to address the elephant in the room.
You can’t help but stiffen, not wanting to turn to Kelley, the woman’s brown orbs holding a truth that you worried would go against what you wanted, what your heart wanted.
“Please look at me.”
You sigh, your eyes screwed shut as you turn towards her, eyes still hidden behind closed eyelids.
“Please Y/N. Please.” Kelley pleads and you take a deep breath, nodding to yourself before your eyes finally flutter open.
Your Y/E/C orbs lock with hers, Kelley’s brown orbs shining with tears.
“P-P-Please don’t cry.” You stammer, covering the hands on your cheeks with your own.
“Kel. I’m so sorry I just-
You inhale sharply when Kelley leans in, her lips pressing against your cold ones.
The kiss is tender, a kiss you’d shared a few times before, a kiss that told you that she feels the same, that she did back then, but like you, she had no idea how to tell you.
The two of you part, your lips splitting in a grin as your eyes lock with hers.
Kelley leans in, her forehead resting against yours.
“I love you Y/N... I have for a while and I’m sorry I didn’t-
You lean in, silencing her with a kiss, the two of you parting only when you can’t stop grinning.
“I love you too.” You whisper, the defender giggling as she lunges back in, crawling on top of you as she presses kisses to your lips, your chin, your cheeks, your forehead, anywhere and everywhere she can reach.
Kelley hums, smirking, her tongue slipping between her lips as her brown orbs dart around your face. She leans in, playfully brushing her nose against yours.
“I know a way we can warm up.” You flirt, the defender rolling her eyes.
“Shut up and go to sleep, get your mind out of the gutter.”
That’s how the team finds you later, the two of you fast asleep, your arms wrapped tightly around the defender whose nose is buried in your neck, her hand cupping your cheek.
“It’s about time...” Alex smiles as she tiptoes to the bed, pulling the blankets up and over the two of you.
“This probably means we should suggest that Kelley and Y/N have a room away from us when we travel, right?” Emily sighs and Ashlyn nods.
Christen snorts.
“Yeah, that won’t help, we could hear them down the hallway.” Christen glances at Tobin, the woman nodding.
“So, a different floor then?” Emily shrugs, and Julie scoffs.
“Nope, we could hear them up there too.”
“A new hotel then?” Emily huffs and everyone snickers.
“Yep.”
Kelley snarls, sleepily.
“Could you guys go away?” She mumbles sleepily and everyone rolls their eyes.
“Fineeeeeee. Congrats Kel.” Alex ruffles the defender’s hair and she huffs, glaring at everyone until they leave the room, before she turns back to you, you who are still fast asleep.
“I love you Y/N... I’m sorry it took me so long to admit it.”
You grumble in your sleep, pulling her back down against your chest.
“I love you too.”

Nothing to Worry About [Christen Press x Reader]
Tumblr media
my first imagine/fic! got bored during quarantine so this is what i did with my time. any feedback is welcome! (also lemme know if i should write more) :))
Christen’s eyebrows furrow, as she watches you walk down the aisle of the bus, stopping to sit next to Alex Morgan, one of your best friends, instead of your usual spot next to her. Distracted by your absence, she doesn’t notice Tobin plop down in your spot.
“Where’s (Y/N)?” Tobin interrupts her friend’s thoughts. Christen gives no response, still looking in your direction, wanting your attention.
“Chris?”
Finally pulled out of her daze, Christen turns to her best friend, confusion and annoyance welled up in her eyes.
“She’s sitting with Alex.” She mumbles.
Tobin lets out a hum, sensing her friend’s disappointment. “I wouldn’t worry about it too much. (Y/N) probably just wanted to rant to her about Kelley’s antics last night.” Tobin shrugs it off and puts her headphones in, chilling before the game.
But Christen couldn’t just let this go. Her and (Y/N) had been bus buddies for as long as she could remember. Sparing another glance at you, she noticed you weren’t even talking to Alex, instead only listening to music. She racked her brain for anything that she could’ve done wrong but came up with nothing.
Once again, Christen was pulled out of her daydream by Tobin tapping her shoulder, indicating they had arrived at the stadium. Christen looks over towards where you had been sitting, hoping to see you still there, but the seat was empty. Were you avoiding her?
—————
Music fills the locker room, as the USWNT prepares for their Olympic qualifying match against England. Everyone was focused on their pregame rituals, Alex with her pink pre-wrap and Ali with her high bun, but Christen couldn’t focus, not when you wouldn’t even look at her.
On the other side of the room, you are just finishing tying your cleats and go to put your headphones back on. Tobin, whose locker is right next to yours, notices your leg bouncing up and down and your hands fidgeting with the hem of your jersey.
“Hey (Y/N), you alright?”
Barely hearing Tobin over your music, you turn to her and give her a nod, but not without nervously biting your lip. Returning to your music, you space out with your legs continuing to bounce and your hands still fidgeting.
Tobin takes the time to watch you, and thinks back to your behavior this morning on the bus. Maybe Christen did have something to be worried about.
—————
The game is in full swing, England roughly playing with tackle after tackle, trying to get revenge for the World Cup. Megan, Tobin, and (Y/N) had started on top, meaning Christen now sits next to Alex on the bench.
Christen watches as you play a diagonal ball out wide to Tobin, who then dribbles down the side line, faking more than a couple of England defenders out before sending a cross in the air towards Julie.
The entire bench watches as Julie Ertz does what Julie Ertz does best, as she heads the ball down away from the goalie and into the corner. The bench leaps up in cheers, as the usual celebration erupts from the crowd and the USWNT themselves.
As the ball moves back towards center field and the teams take their positions, the bench settles down, and Alex notices that Christen, who is usually one to be clapping and smiling when they score, is still sitting down with a slight frown.
“Press!” Alex hoping to get a reaction from the other forward. “We scored!”
Christen watches as Alex takes her seat next to her. She knows Alex is one of (Y/N)’s closest friends and probably knows what’s up with her. After a moment of internal conflict of whether she should pry and ask Alex or just wait to talk to (Y/N) herself, Christen lets out a sigh.
“Al?”
Alex turns to the other forward.
“Can I ask you a question?” Christen asks hesitantly.
Alex nods. “Sure. What’s up?”
“Has (Y/N) said anything to you? I mean she’s been acting distant all day, and I’m just worried that I might’ve done something wrong, but I don’t really know what to do, and I just want to make sure that I—”
Alex interrupts her. “Christen. You’re rambling.” Christen’s cheeks flush, as she looks down at her lap.
“Sorry,” She mumbles, “I just don’t know what’s wrong, and you’re her best friend…” She trails off.
Alex gives her an apologetic look. “Don’t worry about it, Press. But if it makes you feel better, she hasn’t said anything to me all day either, except for the occasional nod or shake of the head.”
Christen lets out a huff of frustration. What is going on with you?
Noticing the other forward’s mood, Alex tells her, “You have nothing to worry about. She’s probably just really nervous. This match is a big one for her, you know with England and all, but she’s also starting, and it’s one of her first times playing for Vlatko. Just talk to her about it.” Alex encourages, giving the older woman a reassuring smile.
Christen nods, trying to calm herself down. “You’re right. She’s probably just nervous. She always gets like that before big matches.”
As she continues to watch the green eyed forward, Alex hopes that she’s right, for Christen’s sake.
—————
The locker room is once again filled with Pinoe’s music, as the USWNT celebrates their 1-0 win against England, Julie’s lone goal putting them ahead. Most of the team is up and dancing, led by Crystal and Sonnett, and some of the youngsters are playing charades with Kelley, but (Y/N) is still sitting at her locker, lost in her own head.
Christen takes in a deep breath, finally deciding to confront you about what’s been bothering you. She sits in Tobin’s locker next to you.
“Hey.” She gives you a soft smile.
“Hi.”
“Are you okay?” She puts her hand on your knee to stop it from bouncing. With that, you look at her for the first time today.
“Mhmm.” You give her a slight nod. Christen looks at you skeptically, not believing you.
“Are you sure? Because you’ve been distant all day. And I thought it was just because you were nervous for the match but you’re still acting a little off, and you’re fidgeting so I just wanted to make sure—”
“Will you go on a date with me?” You blurt out, interrupting Christen’s little ramble.
And with just your luck, your outburst comes right as the song ends, leaving the locker room quiet, so the rest of the team could hear your voice. The whole room turns towards where you and Christen are sitting. Even Vlatko turns his attention to two of his best forwards.
You feel your cheeks warm. Christen’s eyes widen, looking more confused than she did before. Trying to keep this conversation as private as possible, although there was no point, as the entire team is now listening to what you both have to say, Christen leans towards you.
“What did you say?”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. “I said, will you go on a date with me?”
Christen lets out a little chuckle of amusement, as her eyes sparkle and her smile widens. She cups your cheek and pulls you in for a quick kiss. You happily accept her lips against yours, smiling into the kiss. Quickly pulled out of the bliss, you realize Christen still hasn’t answered your question.
“So is that a yes?”
You hear a couple of laughs from the team and a loud snort, which is no doubt from Kelley. You ignore your teammates, no matter how much you adore them, and focus on the woman in front of you, awaiting her answer.
Christen observes you, noticing the eagerness and nervousness written across your face. She gives you a smile, one that is only reserved for you, giggling at how adorable you are.
“(Y/N/N), you do know that we’re married?”
With that, the USWNT explodes with laughs and smiles, amused by your behavior. By now, you’re sure your whole face is red, as you turn to hide your face in your wife’s neck, giving a slight nod to answer her question.
Christen gives you a quick kiss to your temple.
“Is that what you’ve been nervous about all day, babe?”
You bring your face out of her neck, and smile sheepishly. “Maybe…”
Christen bites her cheek, attempting to hide her smile at her wife’s actions. “I love you.” She kisses you. “So much.” She whispers against your lips.
Before you get lost and melt in your wife’s kisses, you pull away.
“So is that a yes?”
She rolls her eyes lovingly at you and places a kiss on the top of your nose.
“Pick me up at 8.” Christen gets up from her seat and heads towards the bus. Looking back at you, she smirks, “And don’t be late.” She throws you a wink, leaving you sitting in your locker, with a lovestruck grin on your face, ignoring the teasing from the rest of your teammates.
—————
The next day at breakfast, as you’re up at the buffet getting food for both you and your wife, Alex sets her plate down across from Christen. Just as she’s about to take a bite of her fruit bowl, Alex spots a hickey peeking out from the older forward’s sweatshirt. Alex gives her a knowing smirk, as Christen blushes.
“I told you you had nothing to worry about.”

Mama Press/Baby Mal Fic 2
Enjoy this random drabble that’s been in my head. Hoping to get my muse so I can finish my main fic!
Also here’s a previous USWNT one shot I’ve written: https://writingsteph.tumblr.com/post/189229035977/uswnt-one-shot
…. …. ….
“Go on mama Press” Christen heard Tobin tell her. Their coach had just asked about Mal’s whereabouts during the morning meeting. The forward took a deep breath and shook her head, frustrated with Mallory before 9 am. Usually it took a few hours of Mal being awake to feel this way!
Mama Press was ready to dig into the young forward for being late (yet again) as she pushed the door to Mallory’s room open, but her heart thudded when she saw her young charge doubled over by the toilet.
“Oh Mal.” She rushed over and massaged the child’s back while the teen emptied the contents in her stomach. She also sent a quick text to Tobin letting her know Mal was sick and they should start without them.
Once finished the girl leaned into Press. The woman felt awful for having been so ready to scold the girl when in reality she wasn’t feeling well.
“What hurts baby?” Christen cooed, putting a hand on her forehead. She felt relief when there was no fever, “Is it just your tummy lovey?”
Mallory nodded, “this is my thirddd t-time throwing up.” She had tears in her eyes, “B-but I think I f-feel better now.”
Christen kept running circles on the girl’s back, “Why didn’t you wake me up or tell me you were feeling bad?”
The child looked away, “I-I didn’t want Sonnett to laugh at me for having to go to you for a third time this week.”
Christen held her tight, “You know Sonny wouldn’t do that. She hasn’t said anything about you needing me yet, right?”
“N-no. I guess not.”
“She’s your friend Mallie. I promise you she understands.”
The girl stayed quiet and basked in Christen’s affection, “I’m sorry, I know you’re up here because I’m late to our meeting.”
Christen hummed in response while the girl molded into her side, “You got sick Mal pal. You don’t have to apologize.” She felt Mallory drop her whole weight onto her, making the motherly figure cringe, “Honey you’re definitely dehydrated. I’m not sure if you can practice.”
Mallory’s head shot up, “What?! Yes I can! I’ll just drink the Pedialyte that you make me drink after practice when it’s really hot!”
Christen sighed she had to get back down but she also had to figure out what to do with her little one without a tantrum being thrown.
“Let’s take it one step at a time. You can come down with me and then the team doctor can check you out, see what they say?”
Mallory pouted, not liking her chances. She gave out a guttural whine and shook her head, but ceased her protests when a hand patted her bottom, “Mallory you will not practice unless they check you. You know that’s not just me talking but Jill too.”
“No fair!”
Christen sighed. Their teenage forward was the whiniest little thing.
“Sweetheart, dont start.” Two pats that left more of a tingling sensation than Mallory would’ve liked, “Now come on, let’s get up now.”
She stood up and extended her hand out, watching as the teen was was shaky to get up. Further proof she wasn’t okay.
“Brush your teeth hon while I let Jill know.”
When Mal had sufficiently cleaned herself up she stood by the bathroom door, looking weak as ever.
“Come here baby. I’ll carry you.”
Without hesitation Mal extended her hands to be lifted. She immediately wrapped her legs around the woman while Christen adjusted her on her hip.
“Good girl.” Christen praised making the teenager blush red. She hid in the crook of the woman’s neck, loving the back rub she was receiving once more, “The team’s gonna call me baby mal again.”
Actually they always called her baby mal. The young player just didn’t realize it. And although she loved to be babied by Press, she still did not like it when her age got the better of her in front of the rest of the team.
“I’ll nutmeg every single one of them if they do.” Christen joked getting a giggle that turned into a yawn from her girl.
Ahhhhh, and a sleepy girl. Hopefully she could leave Mal in the locker room napping while they practiced.
“Do you want me to put you down instead? I can hold your hand.”
The girl gave a simple shake of her head, “No mommy.” She whispered, her inhibitions gone when in Christen’s arms. It also told the mother that Mal really wasn’t feeling too well. The name ‘mommy’ only came out when Mal was sick or upset.
Another yawn as Mallory laid her head once more on Christen, “I feel tired.”
“I know little one. You can lay your head on my lap during the meeting okay?”
Mallory’s eyes were already closed however. She knew Christen would figure it out for her. Her mama Press.

Livestream Chaos~Emily Sonnett x Reader
Tumblr media
(Here’s a quarantine fic requested by @uswnt-owns-this-homo I hope I did it justice!) some drama, but mostly fluff while reader and Emily are in quarantine.
Y/N PRO:
“Emily!” I shout in hopes of gaining her attention, to no avail.
“Emily!!” I shout even louder, still nothing.
“Emily!”
“Y/N?!” I finally hear her respond, but i still don’t hear her coming up to the room, so i continue to yell.
“Emily!” finally I hear her running in the direction of our room.
“Y/N! What is it?! What’s wrong babe?!” She comes barging in sounding out of breath from running from wherever she was.
“Oh nothing I just wanted you to pay attention to me.” I said, laughing at the shocked look on her face.
“You mean to tell me I ran up 3 flights of stairs and almost took out Bagel only for you to be perfectly okay?!”
“Exactly!” I said giving her my best smile
“Y/N! I thought something was seriously wrong! Don’t do that to me!” She said actually looking really upset.
“Oh, babe... I’m sorry, I was only joking. I didn’t mean to scare you.” I say reaching out for her, only to have her shy away from me. Frowning, I try again.
“Baby?”
“No I’m mad at you.” she said although I could tell she was only pretending now.
“I’m sorryyy. Forgive me? Pleaseee?” I said giving her my best puppy dog eyes, pulling her down onto the bed next to me.
“Mmm...” She pretended to think for a moment, playful rolled her eyes at me and relented.
“Okayyy, fine!”
“Yay!” I cheered, wrapping my arms around her waist and attaching her with kisses
“I knew you couldn’t stay mad at me.”
“Yeah, Yeah. Whatever.”
“You know you love me.”
“Yeah I do. I really do.” she looks at me lovingly.
For a moment we just stay like that, locked in a staring contest. I find myself lost in her eyes, man I really love this girl. I think to myself
“I’m so in love with you.” I finally say, breaking the staring contest.
“I am so in love with you, I might have to put a ring on it.” She says in return.
“Oh really? I was thinking the same thing.”
“Were you now?”
“Yeah I was.”
“But not anymore?”
“Now I didn’t say that... I just might have to beat you to the punch is all.” I said smirking.
“May the best women win.” Emily says as we shake on it.
“Did we really just turn a proposal into a competition?” I ask, realizing what we just agreed to.
“HA, yeah I guess we did.” She says, laughing loudly. She went to get up but I pulled her back.
“Nooooo, don’t go. I’m so bored without you.”
“Well what do you want to do? I don’t wanna lay around all day, as appealing as that sounds. We should be productive.” She said
“Since when did Emily ‘Frat daddy Jr.’ Sonnett want to be productive?” I said looking at her unconvinced.
“Excuse you! I can be productive and responsible with my time... when I want.” She said
“Okay babe, whatever you say.”
“Oh come on, why don’t we... do a livestream?!” she blurts out
“That’s productive?”
“Yes! Fan engagement is of the upmost importance. Meaning livestream = Productive.”
“I guess you’re right.”
“Of course I am, besides did you know that the fans grade us and the rest of the team based on how active we are on our social and how interactive we are with them?”
“Really? Where did you see that?.”
“Tumblr.” She said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Those fans of ours come up with the best things sometimes.” I said laughing at the thought of the others “grades.”
“So livestream?”
“Livestream it is.”
We both posted to our socials saying “Livestream with the girlfriend in 20 minutes! Be there or be square!”
20 minutes later...
Emily PRO:
We got set up with my phone and sat next to each other on the couch, practically on top of one another.
“What’s up everybody! It’s Emily Sonnett here with the beautiful Y/N!” I said excitedly waving to the camera.
“Hey guys, If you didn’t already know I’m Y/N L/N, I also play on the USWNT with Emily and I also Play for the Utah Royals.” She said introducing herself
“Of course they know who you are, silly goose.” I was confused as to why she felt the need to introduce herself even though she’s been on live-streams with me before and been on the team for a year now.
“Well yeah of course but there’s always gonna new fans wanting to know who I am.”
“Oh! Right, new fans. I totally forgot. Hey if there’s new fans on the livestream right now, welcome! I play for the Orlando Pride as well as the national team.” I said suddenly flustered at the thought of forgetting new fans.
“Now who’s the silly goose?”
“Ha ha, very funny.”
“I know I am.”
“Okay! Well guys send in your questions, feel free to ask us whatever you want and we’ll do our best to answer them.” I then began to read the comments as they came in.
“What do you guys do in your free time?” I read aloud for us both to answer.
“Well I workout, sometimes by myself or with Em. I play with Bagel, I eat... a lot. And that’s pretty much it.” Y/N says giggling.
“Yeah I workout too, I play with Bagel, I face time Rose just to see what her quarantine outfit of the day is, I of course face time Lindsay, constantly. Mostly to annoy her...” I said
“Okay next question...”
“Hey guys, Chris wants to know if you’re eating your vitamins, sleeping well and eating 3 meals a day. 😂” Y/N read out the comment from Mal.
“Hey Mal, yes we’re eating our daily dino vitamins, eating and sleeping. Tell Chris not to worry.”
Since Y/N plays for the Royals Christen and her have gotten really close and she’s taken her under her wing, and in doing so me as well. She worries and nags like a mom, it’s actually really sweet. She’s been extra worried about us since this quarantine thing started.
“How long have you guys been together?” I read out
“2 years and 4 months!” we said in sync proudly. I intertwined our fingers and brought them up to kiss the back of Y/N’s hand.
“Wedding bells in the future?” someone asked
“Maybe...” we said again in sync.
tons of “OMG NO WAY.” and “YESS THE SHIP HAS SAILED.” comments came flooding in as fans began to speculate when the question would be popped.
“Let’s spice things up shall we? Send us dates to do, send some truths to answer too!” Y/N said
“Truth for Emily: Did you like Y/N when you first met?” I read out
“No... BUT after really getting to know her i fell for her, fast and you know the rest.” I said, hoping to not upset my girlfriend in the process.
“Why didn’t you like me at first?” She asked in shock of my confession.
“You just seemed a little closed off and like you didn’t want to get to know the rest of us. I actually thought you didn’t like me.” I said hoping that, this didn’t start a fight.
“Oh... I didn’t know that.” She said seemingly thinking over what I said.
“It’s okay, I didn’t really give you a fair chance at first but we’re happy now right?” I asked worriedly
“Happier than ever.” she said after a minute. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in.
“Good.”
“Okay... Uh ooo here’s a dare!”
“I dare you both to put the other on your shoulders and touch the ceiling.” Y/N read out
“Okay seems easy enough.” I said
“You ready?”
“Yeah let’s do it.”
We got up and moved the phone so that the fans could see what we were doing and prepared to do the dare.
“Okay....” I took a deep breath and wiped my hands on my shorts. I was actually really afraid that someone was gonna get hurt, neither of us are the most coordinated when not on the field. I agreed to go first, Y/N nodded her head to let me know she was ready, squatted down so that I could put my legs over her shoulders so I was sitting on them. She rubbed my knee to let me know she had me and to calm me a little, she could tell I was a little uneasy. She then slowly began to stand up but stopped part way when I yelped loudly in suprise.
“You okay?” she asked laughing nervously.
“Yeah babe, keep going, it’s okay.”
“Alright.”
She then grabbed my hand in one of hers to steady me and kept going. We were almost there when she wobbled slightly, but then regained her footing.
“Keep going you got it.”
Finally she was fully standing and I was able to touch the ceiling with both hands.
“Yes!” I cheered victoriously
“Woah, woah. Easy!” Y/N yelled, startled.
“Sorry, Sorry! Okay let me get down, nice and easy...”
Y/N slowly crouched down so that I was able to get down and then stood up again, giving me a hug once we were both back on the ground.
“Nailed it! Okay your turn love!” I said ready to do it again.
We repeated the process but this time with Y/N on my shoulders, she was able to touch the ceiling as well and I was getting ready to let her down when o felt a sneeze coming.
“Oh no.”
“What oh no? don’t say that. that’s not a good sign, what?”
“I- I’m gonna sneeze.”
“Emily don’t.”
“I’m trying to Stop- ” but it was too late, I sneezed and not just any sneeze, it was a dad sneeze. It was super loud and it shook my whole body. I wobbled, letting go of Y/N’s hand to try to cover my nose. Only realizing my mistake when Y/N began to slip off my shoulders.
“Emily!” she cried out, I tried to catch her but I couldn’t and she landed on the floor with a really painful sounding thud.
“Y/N! Okay guys, uh I have to make sure that she’s okay, I’m gonna end the live now. I’ll update you guys when I can bye!” I rushed out in one breath.
I quickly ended the live so the fans didn’t see what happened next. I rushed to Y/N’s side and began to see if she was badly injured.
“Y/N! Are you okay?! Talk to me babe, Please!”
“Emily?”
“Oh my god, you’re not unconscious, thank god!”
“No I’m not, but I think I was for a minute there. What happened?” Y/N rolled onto her stomach holding her nose. I could see blood gushing out of it and I started to panic. I looked around trying to find something to stop the bleeding and finally just decided to use my shirt.
“You fell off my shoulders, I- babe I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have let go of your hand.. Here.” I moved her hand so I could press my shirt to her nose.
“It’s okay, I’m good. I- I’m good. Just a little blood, that’s all.” Y/N said but I could tell she was out of it.
“Oh man, okay sit up.” I helped her sit up and continued to hold my shirt on her face.
“Hi...”
“Hey.”
“you wanna stand up or stay sitting?”
“I should probably stay down for now. My head hurts.”
“I’m sorry love, I am so so so-”
“Stop. It’s okay, I’m okay. It was an accident.” She said cutting me off and giving me the best smile she could under the circumstances.
We continued to try to stop the bleeding from her nose, it took a while and I started to worry I was gonna have to take her to the emergency room but it finally stopped and we were able to get her cleaned up. After letting the fans know she was okay, she took a shower after convincing me she was okay to be left to her own devices. I was in the kitchen making her favorite dinner and setting everything up for a romantic night when my phone began to ring. I looked to see who was calling and saw Christen’s name pop up on my screen.
“Shit.”
“Emily!” She shouted into the phone.
“Y-yes Chris?” I said timidly.
“What happened to Y/N?” Why did Mal come bursting into Tobin and I’s room telling us she’s hurt? What happened?!”
“Uh... well you see, it... we... it was just a dare but she was on my shoulders trying to touch the ceiling and she did but when I went to let her down I sneezed and I lost my grip and she fell, she had a bloody nose and her head still hurts but she’s okay! I swear!” I said hoping she wouldn’t kill me through the phone.
I could hear her sigh deeply on the other end of the line and I’d bet anything she was pinching the bridge of her nose. “She’s okay?”
“Yes Chris.”
“Okay. First off no more dares, no climbing on each other or any furniture for that matter. Y/N is to rest for the next week and she is not to do anything to strenuous until I say otherwise? Got it?”
“Yes Christen. How will you know when to clear her?”
“I’ll make her call and face time me everyday so I can see for myself how she is. Make sure she ices her nose and if her head doesn’t stop hurting take her to the doctor.”
“I will. Promise.”
After I got off the phone with Christen, and Y/N got out of the shower we sat down to eat dinner. I was the first to break the comfortable silence.
“I love you. I’m sorry.”
“I told you, it’s okay. I’m okay.” she took my hand rubbing her thumb over my knuckle gently. We continued to talk about anything and everything. After dinner we decided to cuddle on the couch while watching Y/N’s favorite movie.
“Chris was pretty mad huh?”
“yeah but she won’t stay that way for long.”
“What should we call what happened today when we inevitably have to tell the story over and over?”
“What about... Livestream chaos.?” I said making dramatic movements with my hands
“I love it.” Y/N giggled, kissing me gently.
“I could kiss you forever.” I said lovingly.
“I hope you do.” Y/N said kissing me again.
THE END
Sorry about mistakes, this isn’t edited. Oh and to the person who graded all the girls on their engagement with socials and the fans if you see this i thought that was great. :)

Thanks to Heath17_KO5 for answering these for folks.
You can reach her on the preathfics discord if you have follow up questions!

Yes, yes. *pat pat*
What inspired KO/Sonnett? I mean, we've seen Soran around, but not very many good Fics of that pairing.
That you can blame on blak0tyler. She started writing them, and I was like “I don’t really ship it because I think they’re too similar, but I love your writing, so I’ll read” and then by the end of the fic I was like “Damn, I kinda see it now.” I think for me it’s partially just that I really enjoy writing both characters (or did anyway). It’s fun to write characters that on the surface can be snide or sarcastic or goofy, but then underneath can have more layers and provide other things to a fic.
ARE YOU THE ANON SUMMER SHORTS???? 👀
Nope! Not me!
Will you write more angsty stuff? Bc you write wonderfully... but it's just all so damn happy!
Hi there musingpredeliction. I think it’s hard for me to have angsty ideas for Preath, and I’m likely to still have happy endings. I was just talking to someone last night about how real life can be hard and can suck so when I turn to fiction, I want it to at least be hopeful, to do things like make me believe in true love (though I am one of the lucky ones that has found that in real life), make me believe in happy endings and beautiful lives, make me believe in magic. If you’d like more angst, I suggest reading more of my Soran or So’hara
Favorite WOSO person IRL? Favorite one to write?
IRL? Idk. It’s hard to judge when I don’t actually know any in real life. Rose holds a special place in my heart. Tobin’s footwork is magic and her laid back, goofy personality makes me swoon. Christen is the epitome of beauty to me both physically and just who she is (or at least who she shows us publicly). I honestly love so many of them. Sonny, KO (yes, still, though I am disappointed and hope she learns and grows), Julie, CRYSTAL!! Moving on from the USWNT, I’m a big fan of Emily Menges (one of the league’s most underrated defenders), Simone Charley, Midge Purce, Jennifer Cujoe, Sarah Gorden, Yuki Nagasato, Casey Short, Ali Riley, the list goes on. Lol. And on a more international player level: Tiane Endler, Mapi Leon, Jenni Hermoso, Sam Kerr, Hayley Raso, (actually a bunch of the Aussies), Vivianne Miedema, and so many more.
Favorite one to write is a bit easier: Emily Sonnett.
is with fandom culture that she is having a problem or the preath fandom specifically? also, i really love her writing, for both preath and soran so i hope that, if she retires, she doesn't delete her work, please! and man, the kelley situation, it's been really hard for us readers and for the writers…
Here’s the thing: part of what I have a problem with about Kelley is the fandom’s response to her. I’m disappointed by her not kneeling. I think she really needs to have more hard conversations and examine why she stood apart from game one and hopefully learn and grow. I’m disappointed in the culture of cancelling someone because they don’t learn and grow on the timeline you see fit, though. That now people will write off entire stories because a CHARACTER version of Kelley (that the authors have created themselves, let’s not forget), is part of it even if those stories were begun before the tournament happened. That her kneeling or not discounts her skill on the field or her actions off the field that we’re unaware of. Again, we only see a part of them, what they publicly show us, and I am very disappointed that she didn’t show us her kneeling for the anthem beyond game one, but I’m also aware that she may be taking steps I have no idea about. I’m not trying to start a discourse, though I’m sure this will, but that’s part of my issue. And then there’s the trickiness that comes of being part of an RPS/RPF fandom, where there’s the distinction between fiction and reality, between what we’d like to be true and what we 100% know. I don’t mean to cast aspersions. I’m not here to judge you anymore than I’m here to judge them.
What brought you to Preathfics, or rather just the WOSO fanfic community in general?
I have always been a soccer fan. I played through high school. But fanfic you can thank lesbianrobinhood for. I was not looking for a new fandom, but she dragged me kicking and screaming anyway. It’s usually the way.
What pairing do you most enjoy writing for? Why?
Hmmm...That depends on what I’m in the mood for. I like writing Soran or So’Hara if I’m feeling angsty or Preath if I’m not, but really it’s more about the individual story than the pairing: which idea captures my attention most in a moment. That said, as I said in another answer: I love writing Sonny, so if I get to write her, even if she’s just the supporting friend to Preath, I am a happy person.
Do you have a favorite fic? Can you make a list like Preathfics did of your faves?
Oooh, ummm...I mean anything by Blake0tyler for sure. I could (and have) read her stuff over and over and over. I love, love, LOVE Here I Am (Signed, Sealed, Delivered), by freshtilapia. I really enjoy The Restaurant by little_oblivion for a great ensemble piece. The One Where Everyone Finds Out is another great one (and all of LittleDanvers’s stuff really). I love the imagery in Portrait of a Soccer Player on Fire by restlessvirtue. Entwined by superdupergust is very good (and hot). And for non-preath one of my faves is unbecomings (but their stuff is locked).
Do you have a favorite fic that you've written before?
Like of my own? Umm...The Time Between or Orlando is Only Home When It Has You, although so far I really like something that is as yet unpublished, and I’m enjoying the way folklore is turning out with JustCrushALot.
what's your favorite color?
Green!
Can you ask her why did she suddenly decide to update orgasm fic?
….Should I not? I have a hard time writing smut. I have to be in the right mindset and I haven’t been there in a while, but then I was, so I was like “Let me try” and it worked out.
are you planning on writing anymore explicit preath fics/oneshots?! The one up rn are soooo good!!
Umm...that depends. If I get the inspiration, then yes, certainly, I wouldn’t rule it out. Also I have a bet right now with blake0tyler about something which should result in smut from one of us at least.
To the amazing author of Worth a Thousand words: the story is beautifully written, it's funny, sweet and different from other fics. I totally get the KO thing and I do agree with you on that one but know that it's a fantastic story. (Everything you write is)❤️
❤️ Thank you! That is incredibly sweet! I really appreciate you saying so. ❤️
My opinion isn’t worth much as an anon but I loved Worth a Thousand Words and whoever gave it bad feedback can go suck an egg.
Haha, thank you. I’m glad that you enjoy it!
Heath17_KO5's feelings are so darn relatable, I'm crying just from reading the words fear, disillusionment and disappointment. Creative people are often highly sensitive people and when they feel things, they FEEL things. Wishing you strenghth, clarity and insight, Heath17_KO5. I hope you keep finding joy in the written word, as we do in YOUR written word.
❤️ That is very lovely of you to say. Thank you. Please don’t shed any tears on my account though!
heath17_ko5 is having problems with fandom in general or with the woso/preath fandom? that's a shame, but she should do what is best for her :)
Thank you, I appreciate that. I mean, I think in all fandoms there is a toxic element, but as this is the only fandom I’m currently active in, it’s this one. And it’s not all of you, please don’t think that. I sort of explained in another ask.
I just love Heath17_KO5's stories and everything they contribute. Is there any chance the author will pursue Beacon of Light? No pressure or anything. I just thought it had such a sweet premise. And I am a sucker for a good storm story :D
I am working on chapter 2, it’s just slow going.
