#I LOVE SKYWARD SWORD SO MUCH my favourite game ever.. it means so much to me

1, 8, 17, 24? 🤘
1. Meaning behind your url when i was trying to decide on a url about seventy years ago, i landed on lordgroose, because i was a big fan of zelda games. i think skyward sword was pretty big at the time? anyway, Groose is the best zelda character change my mind
8. Favourite movie really close tie between Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World!
17. Piercings you want ages ago, i used to have my left earlobe pierced! i tried stretching it too much too fast and it got infected, so i removed the piercing and it closed up. i'd really love to get both lobes pierced again someday! i've considered an ear or nose piercing as well, but idk if i'll ever do it tbh
24. Tattoos you want there have been so many over the years that have come and gone while i've controlled the impulse to get them lol. i still think a triforce on my hand would be neat. one of my former coworkers has the l'cie brand from ffxiii tattooed on his arm, i think that'd be neat. or a cactuar from ff somewhere would be solid!
the number 34 is really important to me as well, i'd like to have that number on me somewhere. idk. i haven't thought about tattoos too much lately. i still don't have any! i should probably change that someday.

Okay,… you never asked for it but I’m going to go on a long rant anyway because I’m just that kind of person.
‘Twilight Princess’ isn’t just my favourite Legend Of Zelda game. It’s also my favourite video game of all-time. I’ve played it countless times over 100% both on the GameCube and the Wii (mostly on the GameCube because that mirror-switch was just unnecessary - LINK IS LEFT-HANDED!) and it’s timeless to me.
The main reason why is Midna and I really have to explain why she’s the main reason because if you knew me you would know just how important character is to me in art/entertainment. She’s my favourite Zelda character of all-time. Her character representation and development is handled superbly for a video game, and, like you, I loved that I finally had a companion in a Zelda game that felt like a REAL PERSON as opposed to an annoying shadow following me around everywhere I went, telling me what to do every single fucking second. Navi really is the reason ‘Ocarina Of Time’ was a once-only/never-again gameplay experience for me. I completed it once 100% and never looked back because Navi was just that annoying. Fi in ‘Skyward Sword’ I didn’t mind so much as she stayed in the sword for most of the game and only emerged when I actually needed her help. Not before prompting me to summon her every time though. Midna however was an absolute joy to engage with, to have as a companion and to learn of her plight in the Twilight realm and understand her story. Why she is the way she is when we first meet her. Why she’s so mistrusting, manipulative and selfish. And how she goes from that to someone that actually sacrifices her own well being to keep Link safe and to help him save Zelda and Hyrule by extension. She’s just the shining example of how characterisation should be written in a video game because she didn’t feel like a sidekick, only there to aid us along in our endeavours. She felt like a friend. Someone to confide and take comfort in. And since you spoiled the endgame for her, - that is still one of the greatest character transformations I’ve ever seen in any art/entertainment medium whatsoever. So yeah, she’s the main factor as to why I love ‘Twilight Princess’ so much. The creators of the game actually made me care about what I should have regarded as another “Navi” in another Zelda game where the gameplay is majorly the same as the last game was in that the mechanics were just the same.
But other reasons were the maturity of the darker visual appearance (because I was one of those “ridiculous” people that didn’t like the graphics art style of ‘Wind Waker’, discounting it completely as a playable, let alone enjoyable, Zelda game because I was an idiot like that back then), a thoroughly engaging open-world exploration gameplay experience I had never really had before, and finally, like you also mentioned, I cared about the NPC’s throughout the entire game - especially those of Link’s hometown - which made me feel personally close to the character I was playing as for once. I’ve never felt that way before about Link. I mean he was still silent and about as charismatic as a cardboard box - just as he always was - but the dynamics changed. I related to and resonated with him like never before all because I felt a personal attachment to HIS people. That made all the damn difference.
You talked about how ‘Twilight Princess’ is a game you could only play once, feel fully immersed in and then it would go stale for you. You’d find yourself rushing to get through it. That was and will never be the way it is for me. I could go back to that game right now - start a whole new playthrough and find myself just as immersed in that world, in that lore and in those characters. Yes, nostalgia would be a factor as to why, but I just know that I’d completely enjoy playing it just as much as I did the first time I played it if not more.

me rambling about "Staring at the Sun" by Jacob Gellar and how much it smacked me in the face under the cut lol (contains exactly ZERO spoilers for TotK 💙)
AS SOON as i saw that his video would touch on the quests it does in some way i knew it'd fuck me up for a week or two but i didnt expect it to go that way - he rarely dives into the base plot of these things so i knew that was safe but ohhhh man
ive not played The Last Guardian but i know its one of my best friends favourite games, though the light in watching my partner play Shadow of the Colossus was amazing to see, but this really hit me hard because it pin-pointed one of the things i love most and maybe why i just love being in the world of Tears of the Kingdom (and BotW) so much ?? ive always been a fan of impressionist art too, and Turner as well, i've been trying to push myself into that space in my own art for so long. i always feel mega cliche saying these really well known artists are my favourites but i truly mean it jfdkjf ... this is probably one of the reasons i appreciated how bright and chipper the art style for Skyward Sword was with its fading blues and 'brush strokes', but it just doesnt compare to Breath or Tears with the amount of work the light puts in now, i spend so much time just STARING and ive just realised its usually at the light playing the forms and atmosphere in a real but beyond real way
i'm stuck in two art world of really enjoying doing linework and texture - and being reasonable at it - but wanting to go into colour and light though ive never been comfortable with doing so for some reason ??? im trying but i often just forget to try when im just drawing something self-indulgent and silly (most of what i have time for)
the play of light off cave art and that theory has lodged in my head forever too, As A Nerd On Such Things, there's something absolutely stunning about cave art, how it was made how it was put there and why how it was supposed to be viewed if at all, anything. absolutely fascinating, especially with the seemingly shifting images of Chauvet & Lascaux caves ??
a thing that always stuck with me as well - it might seem like a bizarre pull but it feels the same to me - is actually how the sun is portrayed and animated in the 1978 Watership Down ??? pulsing and moving and quaking with pattern and colour, not to be seen properly by us on earth, but you cant NOT look. i've not shaken the imagery of the sun from that movie from my mind since the first time i saw it as a child im STILL obsessed, it STILL almost haunts me
additionally, as someone who's repeatedly defended how these games look to people who complain about framerates and textures and whatever, i appreciate this. don't get me wrong, it doesnt HURT, especially from such a large gaming company (not that Nintendo have ever put heavy focus on the technical specs of their products though lets be real) but Breath/Tears just emphasises how much art direction or a vision can carry a project compared to other high-spec but ultimately forgettable titles. maybe a little much salt in that sentiment on my end but boy it bothers me when its all people can think about.
i'm gonna be stuck here for another few weeks lol this happens every time Jacob posts a video theyre ALL so winding and drawn out and beautiful gjfkds fuck

So because I like to be really complicated, I've decided to throw my favourite part of pretty much every Link's design (ofc the ones that actually change the design - looking at you Toon Links) at you. Idk, I'm an overachiever and I love gushing about one of the best character designs in video game history.
Obviously with the 8-bit designs, all there really is are artworks and the manuals to go off of because Link is a collection of tiny squares with 4 max colours. TLoZ and AoL are the same character so to be honest, I just love his earthy tones and facial features. Big nose rep. Goes for ALTTP, LA, and OOT as well tbh.
Speaking of ALTTP, that pink hair he has in-game is literally one of the best thing Nintendo has ever done.
A lot of child Links have this, but the baggy boots introduced in OOT are literally everything. I want to wear them every day of the rest of my life. The Oracle games also give him the flared lining and I would die to have them. Peak footwear. And the bracers Adult Link gets add so much to such a simple design, it's literally unreal.
The Four Swords games were cute with the bright colour swaps. I'm so mad they drew the artwork for the game in the Toon Link artstyle. Seeing artwork for it in ALTTP's art would have been so cool like what came on the European box art. The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass came and introduced the most adorable Zelda artstyle. Like he's just a cylinder and I love him so much. It's a bit like FS(A) where he just got so much more colourful too. Spirit Tracks gave Link this cute engineer uniform that I cannot get over. Ever.
Twilight Princess. I'm sorry but he's just a whole hunk of man right there. The darker graphics went so far for him, his outfit was so detailed at the time and he's got such a masculine presence if you know what I mean. Oddly enough, there's so much I like about the design, it's so hard to put what I like into words other than 'a lot'. Sorry, I know it's not very helpful ^^;
Skyward Sword Link had such an amazing emotional range. He said absolutely nothing, but you could tell exactly how he felt, but unlike WW/PH/ST etc Link, his facial expression were really toned down and gentle. The most intense emotion he's ever had was fighting a god. Love that about him.
So I know ALBW technically shares ALTTP/OOA(/S) design, so I want to highlight the one thing that's different which is the giant, chunky bracelet he wears. Something about that makes me so happy for some reason.
Triforce Heroes' biggest accomplishment was the alternate outfits. Those boys literally strutting around in a forest in full gowns and costumes like it's nothing is literally peak fashion. Style over practicality any day.
BotW was literally a game-changer for Link's design in almost every way. I have no idea how Nintendo managed to completely change the design down to the fundamental GREEN of the Links before him to this cerulean blue and still keep the essence of what made Link a Link. And although Nintendo loves to go back on it in other material, I absolutely ADORE that they made his features so round and softly shaped, especially his eyes, compared to other Links. Nintendo will never take away how absolutely gorgeous that man is now they've achieved it. So we don't know much about TotK yet for obvious reasons, but he now sports literally the most revealing outfit in the franchise (other than him literally being half naked in BotW) and the fact it's paired with long hair is literally what I've been waiting my entire life for.
So yeah, I've probably made this so much more complicated, but there is literally so much I love about each Link, it's hard to choose my favourite overall features (except the boots, I love the baggy boots).
This is actually incredibly helpful thank you! I think one of the things I'm struggling most with the design is his hair, like he goes from a medium dark brown to pink to platinum blonde to bright yellow to almost orange and like... it's hard to make a decision lol. I do want to include bits of every game, whether that be with little accessories (like kinstones or belt buckles or jewelry) or more major features.
I am absolutely convinced on his schnoz though, he deserves a big pointy nose. It's going to be fun to try to balance some of his more harsh features with a lot of the softness we see in many other games, like he always has intense eyebrows (even in toon mode), but he also tends to have a baby face.

@aureateart ok. My favourite parts of twilight princess  (and some other random thoughts about TP sprinkled in there) taken from my monster TP word vomit google doc :
Link lmao
Ok but for real, I like this incarnation of Link :)
I love Ordon (it just seems like such a chill and cozy village)
ALSO love how easy it is to interpret Link as being a sort of older brother figure to the Ordon kiddos. It’s just,, super cute? AND GHHH nice nice good thanks nintendo for giving me characters to care about/characters that I can imagine Link caring about
He didn’t sign up for any of this (tbh, none of the Links really signed up for this jshdjsd). But I mean like, dude was just going to take a trip to castle town, drop a gift off for the royal family, and come back. But haHA oopsies he did get to castle town eventually but definitely not the way he expected hsjdhsd
He’s just a little dude?
AND FUCK. HE REALLY HAD NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE OF ORDON UNTIL ALL OF THAT
everything is new for the player AND Link
Midna
She’s cool :)
she really just
*teleports into your jail cell* hello whore.
I am no master at writing but AYYYY she do got a character arc!!!
She was actually pretty helpful sometimes, I ALWAYS checked in with her before turning to a game guide
Other NPCs
NICE
Love all of the TP character designs (ASHEI’S ARMOUR??? AOWOAOAOOAO)
Saving Zelda and all of Hyrule was important yea but thinking back maybe it was more like, the Ordonians and the kids were what was pushing Link to keep on going
I like the Resistance members :) Very video gamey of them to have one NPC assigned to each dungeon but hey!!! Kinda cool getting to see a little glimpse of each of em
Idk, it’s just fun to imagine Link popping into Telma’s bar after each dungeon and taking a little rest :) (or to celebrate? maybe just chat, idk, give this man some downtime!!)
Honestly it was just kind of nice that Link wasn’t entirely alone. I mean, I know Midna was there the whole time, but I am always for giving Link a big group of friends (see my love for hyrule warriors, age of calamity, and LU LMAO)
Hero’s shade, very very cool, kinda sad he died with regrets but HEY. He got to pass on his knowledge eventually
AND the connection to OoT?? AND assumed to be related by blood too????? GOOD SHIT
Ilia, I REALLY really wanted to like her (er, it’s not like I dislike her, she’s just,,, kinda there for me).
It definitely seems like Nintendo was pushing to make her the romantic interest, but GHHHHH they really threw that out of the window for me by having her lose her memories
I saw a text post a while ago that said it would have been interesting if Ilia was Link’s sister instead and YES!! That would have been cool too :0
Wish we got to know Zelda a little more
I feel like we barely know anything about her
Idk man, like I said earlier, I never really had any sort of drive to save Zelda during my playthroughs
She obviously knows Midna, so maybe if they gave us just a little bit more of that relationship I’d be more interested in her?
TP WORLD BUILDINGGGG
Botw has good world building too, but each race felt kinda,,, isolated? I absolutely love the different architecture and vibe each town has (and all the the weapons too) but ghhh yea everyone felt so separated. As far as I can remember, we don’t see tooo much of the races interacting with each other? Now that I’m typing that out maybe that’s to be expected because of the calamity but KLSJDKJFD ANYWAYS THIS IS ABOUT TP
The world feels nice and alive, love how populated everything is
Castle town I like castle town a lot, it feels dense and busy and I really like how you can’t talk to every NPC you see
Very cool very fun that we got to see the Gorons hanging out in multiple spots
kinda wish we got to see the Zoras a little more (I guess they are a bit limited since they need water but GHHHH the tp zoras are so prebby,,)
BUT HEY, I do remember seeing a zora or two hanging out in the hot springs around death mountain after beating the lakebed temple (I think, might have been a different dungeon)
but aaaa would have been nice to see them in at least a couple of other places. I think it would have really added to the “congrats Link!! You’re restoring peace to Hyrule” feeling you get from seeing the Gorons hanging out in Kakariko and Castle Town
ORDON
Love how chill it is and how it’s kind of separate from Hyrule proper
They really do seem to be doing their own thing apart from the rest of Hyrule
Just kinda adds onto the “he’s just a regular dude minding his own business” kind of vibes I get from TP Link
Also I like Ordona :)
THE LIGHT SPIRITS,,
Love their design
And love how they’re not exactly like a pure white?
Different spirit representing each aspect of the triforce my beloved
But yes hi I think Ordona is very cool
Who are you, how did you get here, which goddess do you represent? Do you even represent one of the three golden goddesses? Do the Ordonians know about you? Have any of them ever SEEN you??? Do they worship you? Does anybody even know about the existence of the light spirits?? FUCK so many questions but ghhh I like how they broke the status quo a bit by throwing in a fourth spirit :)
I feel like this one is kinda weird but I like that voice sample they used in the light spirit music. It’s spooky and pretty at the same time :)
cutscenes mmmmm
Ok ok, the spooky lanayru cutscene is very good
BUT THE “Link, Chosen Hero! Lend us the last of your power!” CUTSCENE MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM LOVE IT SO MUCH
IT just
Idk man
It just hit different
I like the music
And seeing the light spirits swimming around in the light juice water whatever it is
Summoning the light arrows?
AND HHHHH “Lend us the last of your power!” THIS IS IT. This is the final battle.
Seeing Zelda bow down, and then Link putting his hand out 👌👌👌
Link: ok bud, let’s do this together :)
Connection to OoT (did I already mention this? Maybe., Whatever)
Very cool nintendo :)
I love seeing connections between all the diff zelda games.
Because like, on one hand, they’re all separate from each other because of yknow, individual hero stuff. BUT ALSO, they’re all connected because of the reincarnation stuff
Grrrr walking through the sacred grove and going “The Hero of Time walked around here a long time ago” FUCK THATS SO COOL
Is the Hero’s Shade watching me? What does he think of me? DIsappointed? Proud? The Hero of Time went through HELL so this timeline didn’t have to deal with any of the shit Ganon was gonna pull with the triforce, better not fuck this UP Link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Midlink is cute
Kinda hurts that she smashed the mirror but that was probably so Nintendo didn’t have to worry about people going “but what about the twili??????” for any of the other games LMAO
BUT ALSO LIKE SKJDKLJFJ There are some pretty massive plot holes in TP anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever it’s fine we’ll just use this for angst because GOD do y’all like angst
So is Shadlink
Honestly don’t know where this ship came from but it’s cute so whatever
THE MUSIC??
Love Midna’s theme and how they referenced the dark world theme from ALttP (I remember trying to learn the dark world theme on the piano and doing the Leonardo DiCaprio point meme at the little jingle I recognized from Midna’s theme)
Hyrule field theme SLAPS.
Apparently references a couple of the other over-world themes from the previous zelda games (I got this from 8-bit Music theory’s video on the over-world zelda themes, he talks about TP at around 11:40 but def recommend watching the whole video if you’re into music analysis stuff)
So there’s this bit of the Hyrule Field theme, I don’t know the official name for it but I remember seeing somewhere it being called the “at an advantage theme” since yeah, you hear it during the boss music whenever you expose their weak points. FUCKINGGG LOVE THAT. Didn’t notice it during my first playthrough, but hearing it during my second was like a little easter egg for my ears every time :)
Midna’s lament is very pretty (and fun to play on the piano)
COURAGE THEME.
I didn’t care for it too much when I started playing the game but hearing it in ZREO’s arrangement of the Hyrule Field theme literally makes me turn into a puddle of emotions. Also hearing it around and of the Ordon kids (I think it plays after Link saves Colin) AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Orchestra piece #1 and #2 HOLY SHIT????????????????
Literally, the first time I listened to those I just,,,, plugged in my headphones, volume 100, layed on the floor/against my desk and silently vibed. I don’t know what the hell it is, but those two just fit so well with TP?? I still avoid listening to them nowadays cause if I DO I definitely will get overwhelmed with the “god I love this game so FUCKING MUCH” kind of feels.
Wolf link sucks at singing
the first time I heard him howling Zelda’s Lullaby I lost my shit because LKSJLDKSGLKJFSKG god that was.,, Bad. Anyways, hearing him howl some of the songs from OoT was cute :)
TP STAFF ROLL???
VERY GOOD. IT’s like 10 minutes long and GOD do I love every single second of it. It doesn’t have the same energy as the skyward sword staff roll or the orchestra pieces but GOD does it hit good??
Nice and calm after that big exciting adventure. Maybe it would have been more fun or emotional to have a higher energy piece but it was really nice getting to sit back and watch the camera fly around Hyrule. Seeing like, the Gorons and the Zoras having a good time, the kids returning to Ordon? GOOD SHIT.
and AAAAA that end, when you hear the main Zelda theme and see Link riding off out of Faron woods on Epona… good shit. It gets you thinking, where the hell is he going? What is he doing? Off ot do more adventuring? Going to help out the resistance or something? Going to help Zelda? Or maybe he’s trying to figure out a way to restore the mirror of twilight? Whoooo knows.
hhHHHHhhh it’s just that final reminder that YES!!! YOU JUST PLAYED A ZELDA GAME. JUST ANOTHER STORY APART OF THE WHOLE EPIC OF THE ZELDA SERIES AS A WHOLE
I also want to acknowledge the instrument/samples they used for all the twili stuff.
They’re all just so unique and contrast SO well with the rest of the TP OST. LIKE FUCK!! Anytime I hear the screech from the Twilit Kargarok? Sends a shiver down my spine. I associate those sounds SO strongly with the twili realm. (Like, the same way you associate the BSHEWW VVWWMMM sounds with light sabers)
I love it so god damn much
literally any time there’s a certain sound or motif associated with something I lose my shit
Sacred grove sacred grove sacred gro-
lovely lovely lovely so much fun playing that on the piano. AND again, I did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme when I heard the theme from the lost woods come in GHHHHHHHH
shoutout to TP Faron Woods for helping me study and get through all of my schoolwork
BLEGUUHHH can you tell that I really love music?
and also yea I guess TP is kinda cool too :\
IF YOU READ ALL OF THAT THANKS I GUESS

The only LOZ games I've ever played are Wind Waker and a little bit of Breath of the Wild so I've never met Fi, but judging by your posts she seems wonderful and I love her.
you've technically met her because she's retroactively in almost every Zelda game she just has no dialogue or humanoid form cjsjcjjd
In wind waker she even has a lookalike!!! Who I have many theories about djfjsjcj. It's the fairy queen from later on in the game:
Tumblr media
Babby fi.......
(this character legit has no relation to fi despite looking just like her. She was invented like way before too. I think abt her 24/7)
Anyways fi is the best character in zelda I'll die on that hill. One of my fave things abt the zelda franchise is that it consistently falls into the 'lets meet each other in a hundred more lifetimes' trope but it's not just for romantic soulmates it's for ALL soulmates. Familial and platonic and scornful and everything!!!! The cycle just repeats because all these souls need each other for balance to exist.
Originally it was just the triforce bearers but then other characters kinda started reincarnating and reappearing and so skyward sword was like 'hey... What if also the master sword.' but the master sword is an item that can't die and reincarnate so they PUT A FRIEND INSIDE THE SWORD and now she just gets to meet her best friend in every new life he lives and spend her days alongside him forever and ever and ever!!!
It recontextualizes a lot of things. Any time Link is too weak or too young to wield the sword now you don't get the impression that he's not worthy, you get the impression that she's worried about him and wants to make sure he's prepared & strong enough.
I'm weak for the soulmates thing but I'm also weak for characters built to not feel emotions suddenly finding themselves doing just that because they've grown to love someone. Fi is such a great example in it because holy powers literally created her to be nothing more than a calculating servant with the brain of a supercomputer, but the love and companionship of her master was so much that it somehow planted emotions within her and grew them and I am!!!! So obsessed w that!!!!
She gets better on multiple playthroughs because she obviously knows that when peace is restored she has to go to sleep forever, and toward the end of the game you can see her start to imply she's sad about it if you just, like, REALLY look deep into some of the comments she makes. And then when she does it's so mechanical and detached and cold, even for her, like she's trying her best not to lose her resolve.
Fi is so good. I'm rambling about her because I know you'll listen but I'm just. Bursting with loveeeee she's one of my favourite characters in anything ever!!!!! People are so mean to her and I can't relate at all!!!!

Ikemen Revolution: Alternate Ending (Jonah Clemence)
One-Shot Statictis: Pages: 6 Word Count: 2575 Characters: 14211 Characters (without spaces): 11706
Fandom: Ikemen Revolution Characters: Jonah Clemence, Luka Clemence, Alice the Second, Amon Jabberwock, Jonah’s Heart Defenders Pairings: Jonah Clemence/Main Character Summary: It seemed surreal the way they had confessed their love. He had tried to ensure she got home to her world, on the far side of the moon, but she just wouldn’t have it. One thing was for sure however; he would give his life to protect his love.
Notes: SPOILERS!This is an alternate universe ending based on Jonah’s main route. If you don’t want the main points of Jonah’s route being spoiled, don’t read this. I highly recommend downloading the game if you already haven’t and experiencing Jonah’s route for yourself, because it is one of my favourites in the game and I really recommend it.
It was so amazing, and so surreal at the same time. Jonah and Alice had parted from Luka and the Heart Defenders at dawn, but dusk was now creeping up on the Queen and his new found beloved. The temperature around them was slowly dropping, but a warm, comforting heat passed through the juncture where their hands. It was this heat, and the comfort of the other’s company, was what kept them going, trudging along to the end goal of their mission.
Their mission... Over the past three days, neither of them had any chance to really process or internalise what they had done, and what they were about to do. The fact that the fate of all Cradle was now down to just them two fighting the greatest evil the country had ever faced. The war didn’t compare to this, not by a long shot, but Jonah would damn himself if he didn’t put as much of his strength, intelligence and might into this mission as he did in his duties as Queen.
The silent between them grew more and more tense the closer they drew to the old ruins. The last remaining proof of peace, the last place where the two sides sat down at the same table smiling, whole, as a family... a part of Jonah was making plans to recreate that peace, he could see it clearly- all of them sat around the table in the Garden, smiling, laughing. That image elated him, and his pace increased.
“Jonah... what are you thinking about?” Alice asked sweetly, tightening her grip on his hand in a way she hoped was comforting, and she would never know just how much hope such a simple act gave him.
“The future.” His smile was bright, because in his image of the tea party, Alice was by his side, leaning against his shoulder. Luka was smiling at them both, and the whole atmosphere was achingly sweet and picture-perfect. He even saw the Joker in the image, and Mousse and his old Professor, Dean Tweedle. The perfect image of peace, the perfect image of what this final fight brought.
“What about the future?” Alice probed with a light giggle, a beautiful sound that made the soft ache in Jonah’s heart grow.
“Just... the future.” He spoke unabashedly in a teasing tone. He wouldn’t ever tell her what he saw, because one day, she would see for herself the future he smiled upon, the future he held close to his heart. They just needed to fulfill this one final task...
It had been thirty days since Alice had gotten lost in Wonderland, and the night of the full moon had come to Cradle once again as they cut into the clearing of the battered ruins. Deep in the heart of the Forbidden Forest, the ruins of an ancient castle slept.
“This is the castle the royal family lived in long, long ago.” Jonah spoke wistfully, taken by the decrepit beauty. “Now it’s nothing but a discarded, empty shell. Proof of just how far even the highest among us can fall.”
“Yeah, it’s a melancholy sight...” Alice muttered, sharing his despair for the loss of a more peaceful time. But somewhere in those ruins was Amon’s hidden stash of Magic Crystals.
“Let’s go in, Alice.” Jonah led, picking up his pace, tightening his grip on his beloved’s hand. The air felt tense, as if each step brought them ever closer to Cradle’s secrets. Alice thought about all the people who had helped them get this far, who made it possible for them to save Cradle. Edgar in the beginning giving them enough time to get out of the country, King Lancelot with his riddle, Blanc and Oliver giving them a place to stay, and Luka and the Jonah’s Heart Defenders helping them through the start of the forest.
However, just as Alice gave Jonah’s hand an extra squeeze, they discovered they weren’t alone...
“Stop right there.” There had been no footsteps to warn of his presence, but a tall man with a dark purple robe around his shoulders appeared from within the ruins, followed closely by a large group of men in black robes.
“Amon!” Jonah glared at the man as his utterance confirmed Alice’s suspicions. They caught a glimpse of his maniacal smile from the depths of his hood, causing a shiver to run down her spine.
“I came here because I felt an odd hunch, but I wasn’t expecting for you to have sniffed out this secret place. Tell me, why has the Queen of Hearts, the king’s loyal dog, come here?”
“To put an end to the threat that’s infesting Cradle.” Jonah answered, not missing a single beat.
“Oh? I take that to mean you’ve come to steal our hard-earned treasure?”
“We’re not here to steal it. We’re here to destroy it.” Alice snapped, glaring at Amon through the fear she felt in his company.
“Alice. Do you seriously think you have enough power to destroy all our Magic Crystals?” Amon challenged, turning his gaze on the woman. “Don’t make me laugh!” Amon’s cackling laughter shattered the silence. “Hear me, my faithful servant. Show no mercy. The Queen of Hearts is a traitor hunted by his own army. You may kill him. As for Alice-- hurt her all you want, but take her alive. She’s going to make the best test subject we’ve ever had.”
“Yes, Lord Amon!” Alice’s anger outweighed her fear as she watched the disciples draw their swords. As the enemy got into their battle formation, Jonah whispered to her.
“Listen. The Magic Crystals must be somewhere inside the castle. I’ll clear a path so you can get inside and turn those Magic Crystals into worthless pebbles.” He hissed the last part maliciously.
“Got it.”
“I promise that I will keep you and the future of this country safe.” As he swore that, the image from earlier popped back into his mind, fueling his resolve. “Starting tomorrow, we’ll be able to wake up each morning and greet each other without any worries or fears.”
“I believe in that future too, Jonah!” She breathed, tears threatening to form at the thought. They squeezed each other’s hands once more before letting go.
“Go! Kill! Offer up the queen’s blood for our cause!” However, Amon command was drowned out by Jonah’s declaration--
“May glory run crimson through our veins!” Shouts shook the forest air as Jonah and the Disciples of Magic clashed. Moonlight glinted off Jonah's saber as he smashed an enemy’s blade in two.
“Ugh--”
“No one can keep us out of there!” Jonah proclaimed, not even giving the men time to tremble in fear before cutting a swath through them.
“You impudent--” gritting his teeth angrily, Amon’s hand began to glow with an ominous light. “That’s enough of this foolishness!
“Uh!”
“What’s happening?!” A powerful gust of wind lifted her and Jonah off the ground, but even as they were tossed about as if by the breath of some invisible giant, Jonah managed to catch hold of her. When she fought against the magic, they crashed to the ground and went rolling across the grass.
“Resistance is futile. You’re not strong enough. Now, Queen of Hearts, just give Alice to me and die.” Amon’s scornful voice made her forget all about the pain she felt.
“No, it’s time for you to give up!”
“Hm-” the Magic Crystal in Amon’s hand stopped glowing and the wind stopped with it. Jonah and Alice got to their feet to glare at the startled disciples and Amon.
“You there-- Amon or Almond, whatever your name is-- I don’t know who you think you’re talking to! But you do not give orders to the proud Queen of Hearts!” He stressed.
“Bark and whine all you like, dog. That won’t change the fact that the king you serve is the one who wants Alice gone and the Black Army under his control.” Amon hissed, sneering at them from in his shroud. “You let your emotions take control and betrayed your master to help this woman. That is the ultimate malfeasance, Queen of Hearts.”
“Malfeasance? You must be thinking of yourself. You’ve sentenced an innocent woman to a terrible fate because of your ambitions to rule this country. That’s utterly ludicrous.” Jonah bit back.
“Are you sure about that? My conquest will bring peace to this country. Once I reign from the shadows and all of Cradle bows before my power, the conflict between the Red and Black will come to an end. Absolute control through fear will bring peace. How can you claim that’s not just? And you’re willing to throw all of that away-- let chaos reign-- for the sake of one woman? Doesn’t that make you the villain here?”
Alice was about to give Amon a piece of her mind when Jonah put a calming arm around her shoulder.
“Amon, you’re free to say whatever you want, but I will never stop doing what I think is right, and protecting the woman I love sounds right to me. How could loving someone ever be wrong? Even if it is emotionally taxing...” He stood strong and proud as always, even in the face of Cradle’s greatest evil. “Amon, are you prepared to become a stain on my blade for your ideals?
“Er--” Jonah’s piercing look made Amon’s shoulders tremble. Trying to escape the intense gaze, Amon quickly hid behind his disciples. “How dare you treat me with such disrespect!? You’ve really made me angry now!” Amon reached into the folds of his robes, bringing out a new Magic Crystal and raising it skyward. “Don’t leave a drop of blood in him! Go, my servants-- I will give you strength!”
“Y-yes-- as you command--” the bodies of all the disciples gave a sudden jerk. Eyes wide and vacant, they turned to look at them in perfect synchronization.
“Your lord is scum of the earth. I’ll open your eyes so you can see him for what he really is!”
“Arrrrgggghhhh!” The puppet disciples roared as they raised their swords and charged, but despite being vastly outnumbered, the men toppled one after another under Jonah’s blade. Unable to feel pain, however, they kept coming no matter how many were hit. Jonah glanced back to flash Alice a confident smile as he caught an enemy attack with his blade.
“When you’re with me, Alice, there’s no way I could lose.”
“Really?” Jonah’s beautiful eyes gave off sparks in the moonlight.
“Don’t you get it? You’re amazingly dense sometimes. If it means being able to hold you in my arms, I can and will do anything.” Flexing his muscles, Jonah sent the enemy and his sword flying backward.
“Ugh!” As the stunned man lay on his back, Jonah stomped on his chest mercilessly.
“Who wants to be stepped on next?”
“H-he’s so-- powerful--” the bewitched disciples began to tremble and stagger backward, opening a clear path into the castle.
“Go, Alice!”
“Okay!” She took off running down the path Jonah had cleared for her without hesitation. She had just reached the entrance to the crumbling ruins when--
“Not so fast, Alice!” Amon sprang from his hiding place, latching onto her from behind.
“Alice!” Jonah cried, fighting off the disciples harder.
“You’ll make me a fine shield, Alice.” He had her arms pinned. All she could do was crane her neck around to get a look at him. She glimpsed at Jonah, his face stricken as he tried to cut his way to her. “Wahaha! Too bad, Queen of Hearts. If you want to save Alice, you’ll have to pay with your life!”
“Get your dirty hand off of me!”
“Urk!” Alice rammed her elbow into Amon’s stomach as hard as she could and his grip on her loosened. She broke free of Amon’s hands and started running again just as Jonah caught up.
“I couldn’t agree with her more. Don’t you dare touch my Alice!”
“Urgh!” Amon gasped in pain as Jonah’s blade cut through him. He looked into the honey-gold eyes of his killer, and with one last smirk, drove a dagger into the stomach of the proud Queen of Hearts.
Although Amon knew it was all over for him, he reveled in the sight of the Queen of Hearts stumbling back, gripping the handle of the dagger buried deep in him. The Magic Tower’s leader laid to Jonah’s right, watching as he fell to his knees, finally able to pull the weapon from his body, and just before the darkness took him, Jonah crawled to lean against the ruins of the castle.
Jonah held his hand tight against his wound, trying to regulate his breathing. He felt paralized, rooted to the spot, left to await his inevitable demise. Casting his gaze to the sky, he watched as thousands of tiny flecks of magic rose towards the magical full moon, and, knowing the mission was complete, he closed his eyes blissfully.
“Jonah!” The voice of his darling little brother seemed so far off that Jonah thought he’d imagined it, but it made him smile all the same. Luka was safe now. Jonah, in his dying moments, managed to save his one true charge. “Jonah...” There it was again, but closer. “No, no... no- Jonah!” That time it was right in his ear as his hand was ripped away from his wound, and replaced with a much stronger one...
Luka smoothed back the haired that had fallen over his brother’s eyes just as they cracked open, meeting the tearfilled orbs of their brother.
“Jonah... s-stay awake- I’ll- I’ll get you to Kyle, you’ll be okay.” Luka begged, placing more pressure on the wound and hoping it would stop it soon, but Jonah’s once pristine crystalline uniform was slowly becoming more and more stained with his blood.
“Jonah?” The small gasp to his left drew his drooping eyes to his beloved, and tears started to fall. He looked straight ahead to his unit, all stood with their head bowed, caps placed to their hearts in respect, but it only hurt his heart more. A chocked sob passed his lips as he looked back up at the moon, closing his eyes.
“Jonah!” Luka’s impatient screeching made Jonah’s eyes snap open again. “Don-don’t close your eyes, okay? Stay with us...” He muttered softly, his voice broken, but gentle.
“Luka... Luka you have to make peace... the war is over, we- the country can be united again under a joint banner-”
“Don’t you dare speak like that! You’re going to make it through this, so shut up. You can do that yourself, and I’ll help you- but I can’t do it if you die.” Tears were streaming down Luka’s cheek, and Jonah reached up to brush them away, neither brother caring that his hand was covered in blood.
“I... I’m not going to make it, Luka... even if we got to Kyle in time, I don’t think-”
“Stop thinking then! I can do it! Just let me!” Luka sobbed, choking up. He flung in his face into Jonah’s chest, soaking his uniform with tears. Jonah placed his hand atop Luka’s head, stroking it softly. “Don’t die on me now... you’re too stubborn for that...”
“I’m sorry, Luka... I... I-I can’t...” Luka didn’t argue this time. He could hear Jonah’s wanning heartbeat.
Jonah looked to the full moon, taking in a shaky breath...
“May glory run crimson through our veins...”

YESTERDAY I was running on four hours of sleep and I somehow managed to beat Skyward Sword borrowing it and a Wii motion plus controller from a friend actually 7 years ago it took me SEVEN YEARS to beat this game SEVEN ACTUAL YEARS and I have many thoughts head full but after I beat it I passed out like immediately because of said four hours of sleep I was running on BUT TODAY is a new day AND I HAVE.........OPINIONS
so like when skyward sword was announced with just that lil teaser where Link like jumps to his death that was THE MOST HYPED I had ever been for anything ever as well as like actually the first time I ever got hyped for anything at all and you've seen how out there my imagination can go with just a couple hints imagine what it was like when I was 12 xhdbshs but yeah obviously there no way the plot could ever be how I imagined it and there was plenty I loved, I can't help to be feel there were lots of missed opportunities y'know? Like yeah everyone's talked about the controls (which every criticism is incredibly valid like Jesus it's genuinely one of the most inaccessible control schemes I've ever seen like "u got fine motor skill issues? Ur left handed? Ur left handed with fine motor skill issues? Fucka u" hell I'm right handed with average fine motor skills but the only way I managed to beat it after actually seven years was by slapping in some infinite health cheats in there lol (and it was still surprisingly tricky at times....) Wait sorry I got distracted what was I talking about hold up)
Anyway the controls are rightly criticized the most but I also thought it dropped the ball a lil as a "THIS IS HOW IT ALL BEGAN" kinda story that it kept saying it was, there were some really cool things like Zelda being actually the goddess hylia, I thought that was a bop, also demise is pretty neat even though....did they go into why he's so mad? Did I forget his deal? Or did they just handwave that ....also ghirahim is great and I love the lil plot twist that he's a sword thing like fi, also I love fi, also groose is the perfect character, also the final battle with demise was so cool like I loved the backdrop, also ghirahims animations in battle are so threatening and it's great, also obvious the soundtrack is fantastic, I did cry a lil when the song of the hero was revealed to be the main theme of the franchise, also links clothes being knight clothes is really cute, also I do like the Atlantis the lost empire situation but the other direction with the floating skyloft being up there cause a long time ago a godly power threw them up there to protect them, yeah there's so much in this game that slaps
I did find the story's emphasis on link being chosen by the goddess kinda lame, like maybe it's just my own personal eh-ness towards chosen one narratives which I mean it present in like all Zeldas but in other Zeldas it doesn't feel like this? Like wind Waker feels like he's chosen but the world is apologetic about it because he is just a baby, ocarina feels like he's chosen but this is like a tragic duty he must fulfil, twilight feels like he's chosen but just barely man there's a lot happening we forgot about u link im sorry I got roped up into this we thought u were just a dog (maybe that's why it's my favourite lol), skyward had like this weird focus on spiritual journeys as a chosen hero? I dunno I'm not super into it, especially since it feels a lil lame to have a chosen hero in the first situation like this, I highkey wish that this entire situation was originally all on Zelda/hylia and demise and link was just a guy who happened to be best friends with Zelda and wanted to help, I dunno like hes still destined.its Zelda u gotta have destiny....but no one chose him...y'know? It was sorta an accident he turned out to have just the right type of courage to help
Also I wish Zelda coulda turned into a big giant scary god creature like demise at one point since she's the reincarnation of a goddess, like a sort of equally scary but benevolent counterpart to Demise's design, I just think that'd be cool
Wait going back to the history with demise (which is a little odd in itself as the game that talks about itself like the origin of all things, there sure were a lot of references to stuff that happened before djdhshsh I mean I guess maybe it means this is the first time this specific cycle has ever happened, but still....I feel a lil left out game.....everyone's already been reborn or reawakened and shit....) Like I mentioned before I don't remember if they explained his whole deal but not to bring Okami into this but I think it woulda been kinda cool if there was a bit of like, mythological history between hylia and demise like how ammy has all her connections with other Japanese myths, like maybe they had a falling out like gods do and that's where all this stuff comes in, and maybe u could go a lil Greek god ish and make hylia maybe not always perfectly good? Like maybe she did something selfish or shitty and that's why demise is so mad, and like the DRAMA like Zelda would feel so bad being the reincarnation of someone who maybe did something not so good....the drama................I dunno I just think that'd be neat
How long has skyloft been up there? Hyrule historia low-key implies it honestly hasn't been that long but I choose to believe it's been a long ass time like to the point where legends of what's below are completely doubted, also I didn't mind all the clouds on the bottom of the sky overworld since they needed to hide skyloft and I don't think it needed more floating islands but I desperately wish it was less grayish brown and it had more like, flavour things? Like more interesting animals and weather effects and natural whatever to make flying more interesting, the flying controls could be kinda fun sometiems!! It was just....a lil uninteresting to look at qwq
This sounds like I'm complaining a lot but I did enjoy most of it lol, it's still a Zelda game, clunky controls and kinda messy storytelling or otherwise qwq it wasn't bad it was just....a lot, maybe just too much going on, maybe it shoulda been more focused story and mechanic wise, at least I think that woulda been nice
Also everything I say and suggest does not comply to any lore ever and I will never try to make it so, sorry qwq Zelda lore and Zelda timelines......I think it works best when u don't follow those so perfectly closely y'know? That's just the sorta franchise this is to me fhsvrvtbdb
Also going back to that initial link jumping to his doom trailer I saw when I was 12, I think there should have been 78% more megafauna in this video game and that was the biggest disappointment by far
I think, and I have thought this for the past decade, I think link shoulda jumped down to earth and just landed in a sea of dinosaurs
Shadow of the link
Link of the Colossus
I think there should have been more dinosaurs and that is skywards swords biggest crime

List 10 of your favorite ships, in no particular order. Don’t cheat by scrolling down to see the questions yet, either!
1. Golden Trio (Hermione/Ron/Harry, Harry Potter) 2. Korrasami (Korra/Asami, Legend of Korra) 3. LubricantShipping (Sycamore/Meyer, Pokemon) 4. Lapidot (Lapis Lazuli/Peridot, Steven Universe) 5. Sidlink (Link/Prince Sidon, Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild) 6. Skysolo (Han Solo/Luke Skywalker, Star Wars) 7. PerfectWorldShipping (Sycamore/Lysandre, Pokemon) 8. Best Enemies (Doctor/Master, Doctor Who) 9. Zelink (Zelda/Link, Legend of Zelda) 10. HardenShipping (Archie/Maxie, Pokemon)
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?
Skysolo. lmfao dude I don't even know I was like twelve. Possibly this scene?
2. Have you ever read a fanfic about 2?
Korrasami. A few, but I don't read a ton of LoK stuff.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screensaver/profile picture/tumblr screensaver?
Lapidot. Nah. Like I love it but it's not one of my number one favourites.
4. If 7 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Perfworld. "Oh thank god I'm free." Like I love it but it's very much a trash ship.
5. Why is 1 so important?
Golden Trio. God, they need each other. Like yeah Ron and Hermione work great together but they work best when Harry is there too. They compliment each other in a way that makes them all stronger individually, and the addition of the third person makes each of the individual pairings within better.
6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Zelink. Not really? It can be kind of light-hearted (the Skyward Sword ending in particular, with the optimism of a new future on the Surface) or goddamn tragic (Ocarina, sob).
7. Out of all the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
Honestly, lubeshipping. They definitely have the strangest flirting!
8. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond?
Best Enemies or Zelink. In, uh, different ways. Zelink lasts through timelines and life times, and Best Enemies just can't shake each other. Like, ever.
9. How many times have your read/played/watched 10’s fandom?
I have played ORAS (well, AS) twice! Once as a regular run, once as a Nuzlocke. Archie killed my Pikachu the second time :(
10. Which ship has lasted the longest?
The Zelda timeline is canonically over ten thousand years old so I'm going with them.
11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up?
Skysolo. They're technically not actually together, although given how much I do the My City Now thing over Star Wars, I'm saying they've never broken up and are happy so there.
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?
Korrasami or Best Enemies. The Master probably caused the zombie apocalypse lmfao. The Doctor could deal with it, for sure. Korra is the Avatar and Asami is a badass normal, but they can't regenerate, so I feel they'd manage to survive for a long while but not quite as long as the Time Lords.
13. Did 7 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
Perfworld. Depends on which AU you're using ;D My general view was that they were openly dating, but post-Geosenge Sycamore is just like, "I don't wanna talk about it."
14. Is 4 still together?
Lapidot. They're currently poofed and in Bismuth's care, but once they reform, they'll basically have to have A Talk and hopefully work things out? So currently not actually together, but they'll get there.
15. Is 10 canon?
HardenShipping. Yes. Yes it is.
16. If all 10 ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
Frankly most of them would be trying to destroy the Capitol from the inside. And indeed, some of them have in my HG Pokemon AU!
17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
Sidlink. Nah, I can see everyone around them being pretty enthusiastic! I can also see Mipha's spirit going "JUST KISS ALREADY" lbr.
18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?
I mean, all of them.
19. Do you spend hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?
Lubeshipping. The tag hasn't been updated in three months what do you think.
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she’d break them all forever, which ship would you sink?
Rude. Also, perfworld, because I love it but also, yikes.

Wild180 and The Mystery of Tears
I hardly ever cry. I just don’t. But I have discovered some things this year that do make me cry.
Tumblr media
1. Pokémon: Lucario and The Mystery of Mew
I first watched this movie in 2011, back when the Pokémon website had all the movies on it to watch.I immediately dubbed it my favourite Pokémon Movie, though to be honest that was it was only the third one I had ever seen, the others being Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai and Pokémon—Zoroark: Master of Illusion.
Back in August, my Mom, older sisters and I were in Utah for BYU’s Education Week. My grandpa took us to FYE, where we had never been before, on the Saturday when Education Week ended. There, I found many great things. I found in a disc section Pokémon: Indigo League, Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon: Arceus and The Jewel of Life, and all of the other Pokémon Movies and series (excluding Sun and Moon). But what stood out to me above all, was a Pokémon Movie hiding behind a copy of Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!— Pokémon: Lucario and The Mystery of Mew.
So, I grabbed it, discovered it was only $10- minus whatever sales tax of course -and when my mom came over, asked her if I could get it. I remembered it as being my favourite, and had tried a few months before hand to watch it on Youtube, but it wasn’t to my liking there. She said yes, and I was super happy. Now, the point of this is, I just watched the full thing again for the first time in seven years, and when (WARNING! Potential Spoilers! I’ll continue this below the cut if you haven’t seen the movie)
Ash was eaten by the “white-blood cells” thingy and his Pokémon started crying I began to have small tears in my eyes. I was shooketh. The only ones home were me and my brother and he wasn’t looking at me and even if he had he wouldn’t have really noticed so i smiled nervously to myself and the tears were gone. But then- I knew this was coming -when Lucario discovered what Sir Aaron had done, I felt them coming back slightly. And when Lucario had sacrificed himself and was watching the vision from the time flower of Sir Aaron apologizing and saying how happy he had been to have Lucario as a friend and Lucario starts crying, I too had a tear fall down my face. Like I said, this is my favourite Pokémon movie, and if it is my favourite, then you know that I had enough feels to call it so. I started crying a bit and the tears didn’t fully leave until it got to the scene back at the castle and Lucario is in the painting with Sir Aaron then. Love this movie so much. I know it will always be my favourite Pokémon Movie.
Tumblr media
2. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Now, I had been wanting to play Twilight Princess for years. And finally, in 2015, I got the Wii version from GameStop in the mall around Christmas time. I didn’t actually get to play it till near the end of 2016, but I was fine with that. Because I had the end accidentally spoiled for me by my friend, I wasn’t as sad as I would’ve been. Such is the case for majority of things, unfortunately.
When I got Skyward Sword for Christmas last year in 2017, I was so excited. Everyone talked about how terrible the game was. I was ready to prove them wrong. And in my opinion I did. It is now my favourite Zelda game. I love Fi. I don’t find her nor Navi annoying. How can people say they are?
I beat the game sometime between January and March of this year, and I was so unprepared. I thought I knew a lot about Skyward Sword. I knew you put away Fi at the end and she finally expresses actual emotion, but the game had surprised me. I was not expecting the game to be as long as it was. I knew Zelda sealed herself away for thousands for years and you promise to wake her up, and I had seen Ghirahim gifs and his true form, but the whole full out, absolutely beautiful story of Skyward Sword that I thought I knew most of? AMAZING. I loved it.
At the end, I was sad. A tiny amount of tears made their way to my eyes, but they had begun to go away when Fi was talking to me. And then... Then, Zelda asks Impa to return to her time with her, Groose and Link, despite knowing that she could not. Impa reassures Zelda, who then gives Impa one of her bracelets. When taking the bracelet, Impa says, “Do not despair, Zelda. You and I will surely meet again someday.”
Tumblr media
I was very sad at this point, tears coming back a little, but I thought they would leave and I would be fine. But I was so unprepared for what happened next.
Link, Groose, and Zelda step through the Gate of Time and return to their time. Before I even had the game, around January of 2017, I had discovered what Impa of Skyward Sword looked like. I knew that there was Old Impa, and Young Impa after that. So I knew that Grannie was Impa. The Gate of time disappears, and they turn around to see Grannie is there. Link and Groose run towards Grannie in joy to see her, and we see Grannie and Zelda exchange a knowing look that Grannie is Impa after seeing that Grannie is wearing the bracelet Zelda gave to her all those thousands of years before. Link and Groose are talking to Grannie, and Zelda calmly walks up between them and takes Grannie’s hand in hers.
“...See? I told you we’d meet again.” Zelda smiles at Grannie’s words and nods happily agreeing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then.. we see her and Groose’s face turn to sadness... or... I’m not sure the exact word, but this
Tumblr media
as beloved Grannie steps back and fades away into particles of Light. The gifted bracelet falls to the ground in a screen of black. Ah, distress. That’s the word.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Impa... Thank you. Thank you for everything.” These are the words Zelda says immediately afterwards. You can hear Groose crying. He had grown so close and attached to Grannie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmm... you know what this Grannie Scene reminds me of?
Tumblr media
I’M SORRY. I mean Green’s and Blue’s face match up with Groose’s and Zelda’s and the fading into light particles things... yeah. I actually didn’t cry at the end of Four Swords but there was the feeling of when you are crying on the inside.
Anyways...
The doors leading to The Master Sword pedestal then open, and we get the scene right before the credits up close of The Master Sword, and Link smiles seeing it the last time, with awesome music to go along. The sword does Fi’s Flash one last time as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not going to include the after credits scene, since I wasn’t crying then. But I completely started crying the second Grannie spoke and disappeared. My youngest sister was shocked, having not remembered ever seeing me cry before. My whole family except my brother and parents were in the room. It was sad.
This post had a lot of pictures. Skyward Sword ones, that is. Getting Pokémon ones require me to do even more work. I’ve been writing for two hours.

Keep in mind that each of these so are fucking close to each other that the list could easily be interchangeable. Breath of the Wild speaks for itself - there’s no sort of flowery wordsmithery that I can conjure that would be worthy of Link’s portrayal in that game, so in essence - it’s gud.
I covered Twilight Princess a bit in the last ask! I love my ranch-hand, pumpkin-eating, wholesome-big-brother Link to the death.
I considered putting OoT for third but honestly? Wind Waker deserves it more. For all the shit Wind Waker got on release it should be commended for taking the series in all sorts of new directions. Link in WW is a child in way over his head. All he wants to do is to go back to Outset Isle and wear his lobster shirt and hang out with his grandma. But when given a responsibility way past his years, his acceptance of the task is both unwavering and effortless. Link is a child, which means that his mind is the purest it’ll ever be, and that naivety is his strength. He stands against Ganondorf - old, broken, and jaded, but still consumed with a lust for power. Link shows him that youthful optimism is not something fragile and fleeting to be lost in the face of the world’s cruelty. It’s an unstoppable force for good, and no matter the opposition, it will always prevail. One thing that I really like about Wind Waker and its sequels is that the games focus on change. There’s the obvious change from Hyrule into the Great Sea. There’s the change of the Zora into the Rito, the Kokiri into the Koroks, and so on. They all feature change as a catalyst for moving forward. Moving forward into uncharted waters to establish new kingdoms. Moving forward technologically to create new machines and improve people’s lives. Moving forward sociologically and politically by expanding the government (even if the Chancellor turned out to be a demon but ANYWAY). The WW-PH-ST trilogy shows that progress is propelled by youthful optimism, and that’s a message that I will defend to the fucking death.
ANYWAY.
3. Favourite and least favourite companion?
CIN TOOK MIDNA AWAY FROM ME IN THE LAST ASK BUT THEY AREN’T HERE TO TAKE HER AWAY NOW AHA SO yea Midna is my Big Favorite. The evolution of her relationship with Link is enough to bring me to tears. Anything less of a companion would’ve cheapened TP as a whole.
It’s predictable, but my least favorite would have to be Fi. I appreciate that the Master Sword itself is given some depth and characterization but Nintendo definitely failed in their execution of that entire game. Navi was annoying but endearing, and Link’s journey to find her again in MM is genuinely heartbreaking. Fi was exhausting to listen to and IMO the game did nothing to create attachment to her. The only thing I’ll give Skyward Sword is that some of its bosses were pretty killer, but that’s about it.
5. was covered in Cin’s ask!
8. Top 3 villains?
Wind Waker Ganondorf
Princess Hilda (DON’T CRY TO ME IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW - IF YOU’RE READING THIS YOU SHOULD BE EXPECTING SPOILES GDI)
Skull Kid
WW Ganondorf was a very welcome expansion on the shallow, evil-for-evil’s-sake Ganondorf from OoT. It made sense that Ganondorf, born as a mortal and with his own life experiences, would harbor his own resentment of Hyrule besides his main goal of claiming the Triforce. You can feel sympathy for a man whose entire life has been haunted by death and suffering, even if he tragically became the embodiment of those very things in his quest to rise above them. I’m not saying that Ganondorf didn’t deserve his fate - just that (demonic cycle of reincarnation set aside) at one point there was a voice inside him that wanted to make things better for himself and his people, and that understandable want was tragically silenced by the evil desires of Demise’s reincarnated soul. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT GANONDORF, OK.
Believe it or not I wasn’t spoiled on the end of ALBW and it made it all the better, so I’m genuinely sorry if my answer gave away the twist for you. I suppose that Hilda IS the realization of what would happen if Ganondorf was driven to evil by a desire to help his people instead of his own selfish pursuit of power. Hilda commits evil in the pursuit of good (saving her world and her people), and that’s enormously refreshing in a series plagued by absolute evil just for evil’s sake. Zelda and Link’s unanimous wish to restore Lorule’s Triforce is yet another moment in The Legend of Zelda series that will bring me to tears.
And Skull Kid. Man, I guess that all of my favorite villains have tragedy in common. Skull Kid, a puppeteer turned puppet, who is forgiven in the end by yet another young hero suffering responsibility and pain beyond his years. Again - the children prevail over evil, a core message of TLoZ that I adore.
11. Favourite Ganon/Ganondorf design?
My favorite characterization of Ganondorf is Wind Waker, but in terms of literal chronological progression I immensely love the change from Ocarina of Time Ganondorf to Twilight Princess Ganondorf. Debatable timeline fuckery aside, I was stunned once I realized that the Ganondorf in TP was THE Ganondorf from OoT and I was facing this fucker yet again. His characterization wasn’t as deep as WW but his development was apparent in his tactics. He failed before by directly attacking Hyrule himself, so now he’s utilizing the fanatical proxy that is Zant in order to utilize the might of the usurped Twilight Realm in his stead. Ganondorf is more calculating and cautious than his OoT incarnation, but his boss fights show that he’s still every bit as ferocious. And I find this older DADONDORF hot and I want him to beat me to a pulp and call me pathetic ok
15. Top 3 dungeons?
Thieve’s Hideout (ALBW)
Snowpeak Ruins (TP)
Sandship (SS)
Thieve’s Hideout is a personal favorite (and that extends to the Thieve’s Town in ALTTP as well). Overall ALBW was excellent at shaking up the traditional Zelda formula and it did that in Thieve’s Hideout by giving you an NPC companion. She was something between an escort quest and a movable assistant who provided really sassy commentary throughout the dungeon. She added a lot of flavor to what could’ve been a cut and dry dungeon and I appreciate that Nintendo was able to think outside of the box.
Snowpeak Ruins is another odd dungeon in that it’s not actually a dungeon. The derelict mansion was a visually interesting setting for a dungeon and the final boss was an even further subversion of the typical formula. The whole dungeon was a welcome change of pace and it’s one of my favorite parts of TP.
Holy fuck, I have something nice to say about Skyward Sword???? For better or worse, Nintendo attempted to establish an origin for Zelda’s lore in Skyward Sword, and part of that lore is that an incredibly technologically advanced civilization predated the Hylians (expanded upon in a much more interesting way in BOTW, but it technically had the idea first). They showed this by allowing you to shift specific areas back in time by activating Timeshift Stones (which were light blue… like a certain Ocarina… that allows you to travel through time… a little detail that I appreciate). One of these stones encompassed an entire pirate ship that sailed on the desert by timeshifting the desert immediately around it back into water. I haven’t played Skyward Sword in years, but I remember having a lot of fun with the robotic pirate swordfighting duel along the bowsprit. And of course, the end boss was a goddamn SEA MONSTER THAT TORE APART THE SHIP PIECE BY PIECE, SO THAT WAS FUN. Again, for all of Skyward Sword’s failings, some of the dungeons were fucking awesome.

Video game ask! 1, 4, 5, and 7!!
1. Name a game that is really important to you.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING will ever replace the special spot that The Legend of Zelda series has in my puny little heart.
Even though I haven’t played the earlier games like the very first LOZ, A Link to the Past, the Oracle of Ages and Season etc etc, it’s a series that I’ve never stopped following. I have fond memories of this game. I remember playing Majora’s Mask on my cousin’s N64 when I was like the tiniest little thing, and I would ride Epona around Termina field for sooo long (I called it the horsey game LOL) But it wasn’t until I played the Ocarina of Time remake for the 3DS, did I really commit myself to the series. Ever since then it’s been an irreplaceable favourite of mine. I’ve played Twilight Princess (I’m doing my 3rd run now of that game), Skyward Sword, got to replay my ‘horsey game’ on the 3DS LOL, A Link Between Worlds, and now I’m slowly but surely making my way through Breath of the Wild. Heck, I lined up for the midnight release of the Switch and I stayed up till 4am playing that game with my brother-in-law. SLEEP DEPRIVATION WAS WORTH!!
But seriously, I love how every game, though so similar still have enough to make it different. The Link and Zelda you play in each game all have different personalities to the last, but they just have that special charm that makes them the same loveable duo. (ZELINK IS MY REASON TO BREATHE I LOVE MY GOLDEN CHILDREN) The stories are also all so special in their own way, each captivating and it’s enough to pull me in and make me love the series so much more. And the music, THE MUSIC IS MY GOD DAMN LIFE LINE OKAY! (I’m going to the Symphony of the Goddesses this September and I’m honestly going to burst into tears)
4. Name a game that everyone else loved that you didn’t care for.
Any of the mmorpg games like LoL, Wow, Dota, Diablo. Just not my thing.
5. Name a game that that everyone else didn’t care for that you enjoyed.
Rhythm Heaven for the DS was fun LOL
7. Name a game that taught you something that you still remember.
Nintendogs, sometimes your pets won’t respond to you, even if you yell bloody murder into your microphone.
