they blink, eyes wide for a split second before they shift their gaze elsewhere. the red that blossoms on their face is too endearing, but you keep focus, speak up once more.

"you need me, too." your skin burns, fingertips etched with an aching. "please, mhin. we can work together, find some way in. that's all i need."

silence. they do not dare look at you, scowl on their face nearly muscle memory at this point.

"obnoxious." a sharpness that fails to match with one's flustered gaze. "fine. i won't help you after this."

nothing good will come from this ; something foreign burrows in their chest, warns them of a future to come.
