just watched the new Pinocchio, and I definitely should have watched a trailer cause that movie went in so many directions I didn't expect, but it was amazing none the less.

but how the fuck am I supposed to feel right now? there's so many feelings , and they're all so complicated.

what's mainly getting to me is candlewick, like his entire character hurt. he was born into a life no child could ever want, raised to believe horrible fascist ideologies, trying so hard to prove himself to his father, only to realize he was wrong (he was too young to really understand, but he was starting to grasp it in his own childish way). he wanted to be himself, he wanted to be scared and a coward, he wanted to have fun and laugh and have a friend in a wooden boy. he (supposedly) died just after he got his first lick of freedom.

I was so not prepared. him and Pinocchio deserved to escape that, to live a a life of childish fun, free from fascism and war and death, they deserved to find Geppetto and live a good life in a humble little town free from greedy men and horrible fathers.
