So today in English, we had to write an ode to something we thought was under appreciated. I wrote mine, turned it in, and my teacher was like, oh do you wanna read it for the class. And I was really embarrassed but I said sure and went up.
So in front of a room of 28 teenagers, I read out loud, trying not to laugh, “An Ode to Ghost Type Pokémon”

Tumblr media
“So, I’ve been reading Poe’s works,” you begin, your headphones around your neck and you pull out ‘The Complete Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe’, flipping to ‘Annabel Lee’.
Spencer watches as you flick to the page, his heart soaring at the sight of the annotations that litter the page. There are different colours and highlighters across the words and from what he could tell pink talked about language and that was the colour that stood out to him most. You bring the book closer so that he can read your annotations too and his heart stutters in his chest at the close proximity. He can smell the strawberry and honey shampoo in your hair and the heat rises up to his cheeks. It’s intoxicating.
“I really don’t think the narrator is a crazy psychopath,” you say, glancing at him. “It just sounds like he’s really, seriously in love with her which just makes a bunch of people jealous.”
He watches the way you point to a certain line, ‘But we loved with a love that was more than love— I and my Annabel Lee.’
“Does that not sound like something you would say when you’re in love?” You ask, swooning a little. “It’s romantic, don’t you think? And their love is so brilliant and pure that the angels stole her away from him. I mean, it’s sad, but it’s kind of a picture of how amazing their love is.”
He nods along, his cheeks flushed because that’s what he thinks when he thinks of you. But he’ll never tell you that. How could he even dream of you feeling the same? The idea in itself is just so bizarre that he doesn’t even dare to entertain the thought. Not even when it’s late at night and he’s by himself, thinking through every single interaction you’ve had with him since he finally talked to you two months ago.
“And I mean, think about it,” you continue, gesticulating with every word, eyes wide with excitement. “The last stanza. He’s still in love with her even after she’s passed away. How romantic is that?”
“Very romantic,” Spencer agrees, and he wonders if that’s how he looks when he rambles. “Alright, it’s definitely a love poem.”
He relishes in the way your eyes light up at his acceptance, the way you grin up at him and he wants to make you smile this way every day. His eyes wander to your lips and he swallows thickly. You’re wearing that lipgloss again, a cool berry tone that makes your lips shine and–
“Spencer? Are you okay?”
He all but jolts out of his trance and he coughs awkwardly, his cheeks flushed. “Yes!” He squeaks, before clearing his throat and repeating the word. “Yes. Yes, I’m okay.”
He watches as an amused smile quirks at your lips as you ask, “are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” he manages to croak, his ears red.
He can’t even look at you. His eyes turn back to the book you’re holding, reading through the annotations you’ve made on the page for the nth time over. This is an example of one of the instances he doesn’t want to remember and prays that his stop would miraculously be next.
“I’ve been reading The Tell-Tale Heart,” you say, bringing him out of his thoughts.
Spencer forces himself to maintain eye contact with you and he manages a small, “really?”
You laugh and nod. “Yep! It’s really good. Kinda creepy.”
“It is a little creepy,” he admits, his gaze flicking to your lips again. He’s kicking himself internally, asking, ‘who’s the creepy one now, weirdo?!’
He figures that you’re either incredibly gracious or incredibly used to it because you don’t mention the way his attention wavers.
“You don’t seem okay.”
Or so he thought.
“What— um— what makes you say that?” He asks, clearing his throat.
You shoot him a smile. “You’re not going on about the text like you usually do.”
He opens his mouth and then shuts it again, his brain short circuiting. He can imagine Derek snickering and Emily commenting her usual, ‘IQ of 187, slashed to 60’.
“Spencer?” You look amused, a smile on his face and a mischievous glimmer in your eye. “Are you—“
“I’m fine!” Spencer says quickly, ears burning. “I’m just— thinking? Yes, thinking.”
You laugh. “Dangerous pastime.”
“What?”
“I— never mind,” you shake your head, continuing to laugh. “But I do want to hear your thoughts on ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’ at some point.”
“Totally!” He jolts, and he’s kicking himself internally for being so eager. “Yes. Tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow.”
The train lurches to a stop and Spencer gets up from his seat.
“Bye, Spencer,” you say, smiling brilliantly at him, and it takes every ounce of self control in him to not just grab your face and kiss you.
“Bye,” he says, saying your name, before getting off the train.
***
Spencer has been acting weird. That is the conclusion Derek has come to as he watches the youngest member of their team enter the bullpen with the widest grin on the planet for the fourth time that week. He watches as Spencer sits down at his desk, looking like a literal teenager, and gets down to work. He has his earphones plugged in, the kind you would get at a dollar store, or the complementary ones you get from airports that never fit your ears right and leave you with headaches because of the horrible audio quality. Derek supposes he’s just listening to Beethoven or Bach or another dead classical musician. But as he passes Spencer’s desk, he hears something that makes him stop in his tracks. Spencer is humming. No, not just humming. He’s muttering lyrics under his breath. Since when did classical music have lyrics?
“What the hell…?” Derek asks under his breath to no one in particular.
“You talking about Reid?” Emily asks, an amused grin on her face. “He’s acting weird.”
“Thank God, I thought I was the only one.” JJ seemingly appears out of nowhere, standing beside them with her arms crossed and a sly smile tugging at her lips.
Rossi enters the bullpen, nodding towards Spencer who was sitting at his desk, blissfully unaware. “We talking about the kid?”
“He’s been acting weird all week,” Derek insists, his brows furrowing. “What do you think it is?”
“Maybe he won a chess tournament,” JJ says with a soft laugh.
Emily rolls her eyes at the idea. “Please, Reid’s probably the winner of every single chess tournament in the state.”
“Maybe his mother is doing better?” Rossi suggests.
“Doesn’t explain why he’s listening to, I don’t know, not Mozart,” Derek points out.
There’s a silence that pulls over the group as they stare at the back of Reid’s head. It isn’t long before he turns around to face his coworkers, raising an eyebrow.
“… Why are you staring at me?” Spencer asks, giving them all pointed looks.
“You’re acting weird,” Morgan says, cutting straight to the chase. “Care to share with the class?”
Spencer offers them all confused looks. “I’m… not acting weird? If anything, you guys are the ones acting weird.”
“Ohh, no, don’t turn this around on us.” Emily grins, walking over to him. “What’s going on?”
“What— guys, what happened to ‘no profiling each other’?” Spencer spluttered, shooting accusatory looks towards his coworkers.
“We’re just worried, that’s all,” JJ says with maternal sympathy, but Spencer can tell that she’s hiding a smile.
He groans, rubbing his eyes with his fingers. “I’m fine guys. I’m not acting ‘weird’ or anything.”
“Who are you listening to, Reid?” Rossi asks quickly, nodding towards the ear phones.
“What?” Spencer’s head snaps up, redness crawling up to his ears.
Emily smirks. “Yeah Reid. Who are you listening to?”
“No one,” he answers, avoiding their gaze. “I’m uh— I’m going back to work.”
He quickly turns his chair around, busting himself with his files. His co-workers all exchange glances, mischievous grins on their faces.
“You know, I could just ask Garcia to dig into your phone,” Derek says with a shrug. “Or you could tell us yourself.”
Spencer shoots him a light hearted glare. “You wouldn’t.”
“You don’t know that.”
“You wouldn’t.”
***
Spencer thinks he’s going to die of mortification. He spent that entire week downloading all of the released songs by Taylor Swift, dutifully listening to each song and reporting back to you on his opinions. He has since come to a conclusion: Taylor Swift is a lyrical genius. Granted, he doesn’t have much experience with other branches of music that involves lyrics, but he figures it’s pretty similar to poetry. Regardless, he’s one hundred percent sure that he’s in for a world of teasing and tasteful jabs towards his sudden shift in music taste.
He’s also been doing this thing called texting, and he even went as far as getting a new phone and email address just so that he could properly contact you. He’s been in contact with you for the past eight weeks, going as far as messaging and calling you during break times and hiding in the bathroom to have an ounce of privacy. He feels like a changed person, all because of a tiny handheld device that fits in his back pocket. And you. Mostly you. The worst thing about this entire situation is the fact that Morgan did in fact manage to convince Garcia to snoop into his phone.
“Alright, Reid, quit hiding. Who’s the girl?” Derek demands, slapping a piece of paper onto Spencer’s desk. It’s a log of calls and downloads. In other words, it’s a log of all the times he’s called the same number and all the Taylor Swift songs he’s downloaded.
“Girl? What— what girl?” Spencer asks, playing dumb and willing himself to look Derek in the eye. His mind is spinning. ‘Blink evenly. Maintain eye contact. Don’t stutter. Answer his questions evenly. Play dumb. There is no girl, there is no girl there is no—‘
“Reid? Reid? Spencer!” Derek snaps his fingers in front of his face, jolting him out of his trance.
“Huh?” Spencer jolts, snapping out of his trance. “What?”
Derek snorts at his reaction. “Look, kid. This person calls your cell every day at 12:30, which just so happens to be in two minutes. So, either you tell me and I let you have your fun, or she calls you and she’ll be hearing my voice instead of yours.”
Spencer scoffs, holding his phone firmly in the palm of his hand. “There is no girl, Morgan.”
“Right.”
“I’m serious!” Spencer says, his voice going up and octave and he cringes internally. Smooth. “There is no girl.”
“Totally believe you.”
He groans, wiping a hand over his face to calm himself down. Before he could respond, the phone in his hand begins to ring. A smirk tugs at Derek’s lips and he immediately lunges for the phone, eliciting a yelp from Spencer who leaps from his seat.
“Morgan— Morgan no—“
“C’mon kid, it’ll be a lot easier if you just give in!”
“No! Nope, nope, Morgan I swear to-“
In seconds, Derek snatches Spencer’s phone out of his hand, a triumphant look on his face. He keeps Spencer at arm’s length as he picks up the phone.
“Hey Spence!” A voice rings through the phone.
“Sorry, sweetheart, not Spencer,” Derek responds, his voice smug.
“… that’s concerning,” The voice responds slowly, cautiously. “Who is this?”
Spencer grabs the phone out of Derek’s hand, running out of the bullpen as quickly as his long legs could carry him, flipping his coworker the finger before he leaves.
“Hello?” He asks into the phone. “I’m so sorry, that was Derek, my co-worker.”
“Oh, the bald one!” You say quickly, recalling his name from the photos Spencer had shown you beforehand. “I thought it was like… a bad guy or something.”
He laughs softly into the phone, his cheeks warm and wearing a smile that could split his face in two. “Don’t worry, he’s not a bad guy. A pain in the ass, maybe, but not a bad guy.”
He hears you chuckle from the other side of the line. “Yeah, he seems like a nice person. Your entire team sounds really cool.”
“Maybe you could meet them at some point,” Spencer says quietly, his heart thundering in his chest. “I mean, they kind of already know you exist.”
“That would be fun,” You muse, and he hears the soft ruffling of cling wrap in the background.
“Lunch?”
He hears you hum in response, and he can’t help but chuckle. There’s a silence for a few seconds, and he assumes you were eating, before your voice picks up again.
“I’d love to meet your team at some point, Spence. They seem like really amazing people.”
He can’t help but smile, running his fingers through his hair. “Yeah. They are. You’d love them, and I’m sure they’d love you just as much.”
Before long, lunch break is over and Spencer begrudgingly hangs up and returns to the bullpen, his team all wearing frustratingly smug faces. He rolls his eyes, not paying them any kind as he returns to his desk. He ignores the very blatant whistle Derek does in his direction and the snort Emily fails to hide.
“So…” JJ begins, dragging her words out. “You’ve got a girlfriend?”
Spencer chokes on air and bites his tongue, grimacing at the taste of blood. “I do not have a girlfriend.” It’s not a lie.
“But you want her to be,” Emily says, smirking.
“No! Yes. I don’t know, maybe?” Spencer feels like a teenage boy being lectured by his parents. Not that he knows what that feels like.
“Alright, well, have you asked her on a date?” Derek asks as he raises an eyebrow.
Spencer coughs, reaching for his mug of stale coffee. That’s all he needs to do to answer Derek’s question, because in moments Derek is screaming in his ear.
“Why haven’t you asked her out yet?!”
“We talk loads of times,” Spencer insists, hiding behind his disgustingly old coffee. “We just never… we’re just friends.”
Rossi bites back a chuckle. “Yes, because friends call each other every day during their lunch breaks.”
Spencer feels his face grow impossibly hotter and he chugs the last of his coffee. He cringes before turning his attention back to his files in an attempt to calm himself down. It doesn’t work.
“How did you meet her?” JJ asks, gentler this time.
Spencer flushes and plays with his watch. “On the train.”
“That’s very you,” she laughs, ruffling his hair. “She seems really nice, Spencer.”
He preens at the compliment, his mind drifting to your pretty hair and glossy lips. He sports a grin and he nods. “She’s really, really nice.”
***
Spencer sits next to you on the train as usual. His cheeks are flushed and his hair is combed to be a little neater, only for his efforts to be destroyed when a strong gust of wind hits his face the moment he left his apartment. He reminds himself to put a comb into his bag after work. You’re talking about another one of Poe’s works, this time ‘The Raven’, another love poem. Your eyes are bright with excitement as you go on and on about the writing style and whatever else.
Spencer is far from religious but your existence alone is enough to have him thanking the heaven’s that he is alive. He can’t help but smile every time you do, his gaze perpetually on your lips. He feels a little guilty about it, about how he can’t even control himself when he’s around you but you’re just so beautiful that he can’t help himself. He feels even guiltier when he realises he hasn’t processed a word you’ve said.
“... and that’s why I think Edgar Allen Poe is really just a huge softie who wants to be loved,” you finish, snapping the book closed. “What do you think, Doctor Genius?”
“Totally,” Spencer agrees quickly, almost biting his tongue. “Absolutely.”
You laugh and Spencer thinks he’s going to faint.
“Where are you up to in your Taylor Swift project?” You ask teasingly, nudging his arm. If it were anyone else, Spencer would have grimaced and shrugged them off but you aren’t just ‘anyone’. You’re the most amazing person in the world.
“I’m up to 1989 track 9, Wildest Dreams,” Spencer recites, pulling out his notebook from his inner jacket pocket. It’s a small leatherbound notebook that he’s been writing all his thoughts in regards to the Taylor Swift songs, all in chronological order. He’s actually quite proud of it as he flicks to the latest page. “I really like this one. I did some research and I found out that the bass sound in the background is actually her heartbeat. That’s pretty interesting.”
You almost scream in excitement, leaning closer to him to read his notes. “I love this song! It’s my favourite Taylor Swift song ever and it’s just so pretty, you know?”
He nods in agreement, his cheeks flushed at the close proximity and he finds that he can no longer feel his tongue. He should get that checked out.
“It reminds me of you sometimes,” you say, completely unabashed. Spencer thinks you’re trying to kill him.
“What?” He asks meekly, recalling every lyric from the song.
You freeze, flustered and you pull away from him. Spencer frowns at the sudden space but he watches as you stammer and stumble over your words.
“I just meant– you know, it’s a good song! That’s all.” You laugh anxiously, fiddling with the book in your hand. “Never mind, just ignore me. Tell me more about what you like about the song.”
In an almost uncharacteristic bout of confidence, Spencer reaches out to take your hand in his. At first, he thought his head was going to explode. It felt heavy and light all at the same time and he was almost about to pull his hand away when you squeezed his fingers. Just like that, all doubts are gone. You’re smiling at him and Spencer knows that he would do absolutely anything to make sure to keep it there.
When the train lurches to a stop at Quantico, Spencer doesn’t make any effort to move. He’s grinning ear-to-ear, intertwining your fingers with his.
“Isn’t this your stop?” You ask gently, loosening your hold on his hand.
He shrugs, holding onto your hand tighter. “I’m always early. I can be late for once.”
Besides, he thinks to himself, inching closer to you, this is so worth it.
Pride bubbles in his heart when he hears you laugh again and his smile grows impossibly wider.
“We’re almost at my stop,” you say, rubbing your thumb against the back of his hand. “We should go out. You know, instead of just meeting on the train.”
Spencer nods immediately at the suggestion. “I’d like that. Are you free on Saturday?”
“I’m definitely free on Saturday,” you respond, squeezing his hand again.
Spencer sits there with you until you make it to your stop. The corners of his eyes are crinkled and he feels happy, so goddamn happy, and he wonders how he’s lived without you. Before you get off the train, he calls your name. He relishes in the way you turn around, the confusion palpable in your eyes.
“Yeah?”
He takes a step closer to you, his face in front of yours. His heartbeat is in his ears but at the same time he feels an incredibly ironic sense of calm. In seconds, he presses his lips to yours in a short kiss. He grins at you as you stumble out of the train dazed, waving goodbye. From the window he could see you press your cold hands to your cheeks before reaching for your phone.
The smile that grows on his face when he sees your face light up his phone is embarrassing. It’s goofy and silly and he is so grateful that the carriage is empty.
“Hello?”
“You cannot–” your voice comes through the speaker and he grins again– “you cannot just kiss me randomly and then leave.”
“Technically the train left, not me,” Spencer says with a small laugh.
You’re quiet on the other end before replying, “We need a re-do on Saturday.”
Spencer has no complaints.

You ever think about how they could have had Jadzia Dax go on a long mission deep into space for some amazing research opportunity? Have an episode of her and Worf grappling with whether she should go or not because they had JUST got married?? They finally agree she should go and you have a whole other episode of everyone else giving her a great send off (including her and Worf racking up and impressive number of sex injuries) and she gets to go off on an amazing voyage and the following episodes can include bits and bobs of Worf dealing with missing his wife and being quietly adorable over her messages to him and they send each other increasingly hilarious klingon poetry over the remaining series and like maybe near the end Jadzia comes home and they rack up enough sex injuries Bashir considers moving into their living room to be on hand.
But nah, just kill her off I guess.

"The Need For Topical Music", written by Phil Ochs
Before the days of television and mass media, the folksinger was often a traveling newspaper spreading tales through music.
It is somewhat ironic that in this age of forced conformity and fear of controversy the folksinger may be assuming the same role. The newspapers have unfortunately told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the cold war truth so help them, advertisers. If a reporter breaks the "code of the West” that used to be confined to Hoot Gibson movies, he’ll find himself out on the street with a story to tell and all the rivers of mass communication damned up.
The folksingers of today must face up to a great challenge in their music. Folk music is an idiom that deals with realities and not just realities of the past as some would assert. More than ever there is an urgent need for Americans to look deeply into themselves and their actions and musical poetry is perhaps the most effective mirror available.
I have run into some singers who say, “Sure, I agree with most topical songs, but they're just too strong to do in public. Besides, I don't want to label myself or alienate some of my audience into thinking I'm unpatriotic.”
Yet this same person will get on the stage and dedicate a song to Woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger as if in tribute to an ideal they are afraid to reach for. Those who would compromise or avoid the truth inherent in folk music are misleading themselves and their audiences. In a world so full of lies and corruption, can we allow our own national music to go the way of Madison Avenue?
There are definite grounds for criticism of topical music, however. Much of the music has been too bitter and too negative for many audiences to appreciate, but lately there has been a strong improvement in both quantity and quality, and the commercial success of songs like “If I Had a Hammer” have made many of the profit seekers forget their prejudices.
One good song with a message can bring a point more deeply to more people than a thousand rallies. A case in point is Pete Seeger's classic “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” which brought a message of peace to millions, including many of the younger generation who do not consider themselves involved in politics.
Folk music often arises out of vital movements and struggles. When the union movement was a growing, stirring and honest force in America, it produced a wealth of material to add to the nation's musical heritage. Today, there regrettably seem to be only two causes that will arouse an appreciable amount of people from their apathetic acceptance of the world; the Negro struggle for civil rights and the peace movement. To hear a thousand people singing "We Shall Overcome" without the benefit of Hollywood's bouncing ball is to hear a power and beauty in music that has no limits in its effect.
It never ceases to amaze me how the American people allow the hit parade to hit them over the head with a parade of song after meaningless song about love. If the powers that be absolutely insist that love should control the market, at least they should be more realistic and give divorce songs an equal chance.
Topical music is often a method of keeping alive a name or event that is worth remembering. For example many people have been vividly reminded of the depression days through Woody Guthrie’s dust bowl ballads. Sometimes the songs will differ in interpretation from the textbooks as with “Pretty Boy Floyd”.
Every newspaper headline is a potential song, and it is the role of an effective songwriter to pick out the material that has the interest, significance and sometimes humor adaptable to music.
A good writer must be able to picture the structure of a song and as hundreds of minute ideas race through his head, he must reject the superfluous and trite phrases for the cogent powerful terms. Then after the first draft is completed, the writer must be his severest critic, constantly searching for a better way to express every line in his song.
I think there is a coming revolution (pardon my French) in folk music as it becomes more and more popular in the U. S., and as the search for new songs becomes more intense. The news today is the natural resource that folk music must exploit in order to have the most vigorous folk process possible.

Hob grew up in a wealthy family in high society and he has earned a reputation of being a partier and a total playboy--dating and sleeping with lots of people, absolutely zero commitment (think like bruce wayne).
At some social function, he sees Dream Endless for the first time, the son of the very wealthy Endless family who is known for being a bit reclusive. Dream is gorgeous and Hob has found his next target. So he approaches Dream and gives him some stupid line and Dream just gives him the bitchiest disinterested once over and tells him rudely to leave him alone.
Hob falls in love immediately, of course. It's not the first time he's been rebuffed, but just something about Dream makes him feel all tingly inside. So of course he can't give up on Dream so easily. He tries to continue the conversation but after a few more choice words from Dream, he backs off. But that's okay, he's playing the long game now.
Dream starts showing up to more events (maybe his parents are trying to force him to be out in society more), and Hob tries his luck every time he sees him. It rarely goes better than the first time and Dream doesn't get any friendlier, just a bit more tolerant. People are so confused by this change Hob's behavior, both in him pursuing just one person and that person being someone who so clearly dislikes him, but obviously they just don't understand what it's like to be in love.
But the thing is, after that first meeting, Dream has never explicitly told him to leave him alone again. Insulted him, yes, rejected his offers, yes, but never to just fuck off and Dream not the type to be polite or have a problem telling someone to fuck off. So Hob has hope.
Eventually, he seems to wear Dream down enough that Dream agrees to a date. Just one date, and Dream says that if Hob behaves himself, maybe, maybe, he will be given permission to fuck Dream, but he has to be a very good boy to earn it.
(maybe he earns it or maybe it takes him a few dates)
Omg. I love this. Turns out that Hob was just a bratty sub in need of a firm hand this whole time. Now he’s following Dream around like a lost puppy and trying so hard to be good.
Dream continues to act disinterested on their first date. Hob has booked an exclusive table at an amazing restaurant, and he’s really trying his best to behave nicely. He pulls out Dream’s chair for him, is nice to the serving staff, and tries not to be too annoying or brash in conversation. It’s not long before Dream softens up a bit. He doesn’t want Hob to act like a completely different person, just wants him to be a little more sensitive. Soon he nudges Hob into talking about stuff that he’s actually into, not just alcohol and cars. They talk about poetry and history and food, and Hob admits that he mostly acts up like he does because he’s so bored. Dream smirks, and decides that he’ll make sure that this pretty little playboy is never bored again.
Hob earns himself a good long session of kissing Dream up against his front door after that first date. Then Dream puts a finger to his lips and pushes him away sternly. He’s not one of Hob’s little playthings to be fucked and thrown away. Hob will need to work a lot hard on being good if he wants to get his dick wet.
Needless to say, Hob is willing to do anything. Even if Dream has to spank the good sense and responsibility into him. By the time he’s finally allowed to fuck Dream, he might actually be contributing to the good of society and doing something with his brain - Dream is looking for husband material, after all. And he’ll mould Hob into exactly that.

ROUND 1 MATCH 94
Tumblr media
Jaal propaganda:
“His romance is all about trust gained, vulnerability and making each other feeling safe and he's SO sweet throughout. Player character (Ryder) arrives unannounced on the planet where Jaal's species live, and he joins them to assess their intentions. He's slow to trust (last aliens that they made contact with literally started a decades-long war against his people) but after a while he can start to open up (he responds well to Ryder trusting him and not intervening in certain scenarios, choosing to help his people rather than just finish a mission, honesty in general). He's curious about everything, eager to share knowledge on language, food, biology, culture, literally anything that comes to his mind. He likes tinkering and understanding how things work, he writes poetry and he sews. If romanced, he invites Ryder to his home to meet his mother(s) and the rest of the family, tells them "You make my heart sing" and asks them if they want to be together. Eventually he will take Ryder on a date to his favorite place on the planet to confess his love (player can agree to an intimate scene but it progresses the same even if they say no to him). After they officially get together he'll start using pet names like "Darling one" or "dearest" or "amazing heart" or "You are the light that we all follow, that I follow". Plus, after Ryder meets her, his mother starts doting on you and sending you emails to ask questions to make them feel 100% welcomed in the family (especially since Ryder is human and they face public scrutiny for being of two different planets/species). He's constantly smitten for the player character and not afraid to make it clear for everyone in the general vicinity.”
Jun propaganda:
“He was a gay option in a JRPG in 1999. He’s an astrology bitch. He attacks by throwing flowers a la Tuxedo Mask. He and Tatsuya (the player character) exchanged their most treasured possessions with each other while standing in front of a bridal store. His relationship with Tatsuya is central to the plot. Choosing him as the romance unlocks a demon contact option where the two of them just stand in front of the demon and flirt. One of his solo demon contact options is just him doing an “I’m just a little guy” routine. He’s kind and sweet and caring and earnestly wants to help people but may the heavens have mercy if you piss him off because he also has no qualms about committing murder. Most characters, when their stat bonuses from eating run out, will just make a comment about getting hungry but Jun will take the opportunity to ask Tatsuya out on a date. The lead devs agreed in an interview that he’s the best romance option.”

Victor's upbringing, and his parents are... Really something. I'm not familiar with early 19th century social dynamics, and gender roles. But it's like a whipslash to read all of these strict and almost extreme case with the Frankenstein family, while coming from the likes of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, and Sherlock Holmes where one can feel modernity breathing through the novel.
"No creature could have more tender parents than mine." Victor, buddy, I agree that your parents cared a great deal for yours and Elizabeth's education, regarding you both with an amazing gift of knowledge, and such... But so far I don't like them a little bit.
Your parents not only want to marry you to your fucking cousin because apparently the decision of "who am I going to romantically spend the rest of my life with" is not yours to do no no, but also your mother has been only educating poor Elizabeth as a bride-to-be. At least Elizabeth found joy in poetry to express her creative view of the world (even if these traits are expected in an early 19th century noble girl.)

kirishima is a drummer
his moms put him in drum classes for one reason or another i feel it in my bones
I raise you one better!!
Musician!Kirishima did take drum lessons but never really had a passion for it, then did the same with piano, but still wasn’t really into it.
But what he did love was singing, even with his untrained, raspy voice, he loved it. He loved singing all kinds of rock songs that would strain his throat a little each time, but it felt right. He loved the poetry and lyricism within rap and hip hop music as well— the ability to tell quick, concise stories with music amazed him.
But he never told anyone. He didn’t find himself impressive, it was kinda just a thing he could do? Just like his quirk— Just a thing he could do.
And when the cultural festival came, his classmates passing around the idea of a performance, excitement bubbled in his stomach. He’d finally be able to sing!! Or play!! Or anything!! But the lump in his throat kept him quiet. He nodded along and agreed to do some backstage work. The festival came and went.
Months flew by quickly, Kirishima continuing to only sing in the comfort of his dorm, maybe making beats on his desk with a pencil if he was really into it. Until one day he was interrupted by a few loud bangs on his door—
“You can fucking sing?!”
What Jirou was doing in order to hear him was a mystery. Kirishima finally swallowed the nervous lump in his throat and choked out, “I—..Yeah?”

Writing Styles
Would Nabokov’s writing be considered “purple prose” in today’s writing climate? by meadowillow_
meadowillow_ : Vladimir Nabokov is praised as one of the most gifted writers of the ornate style. Interestingly, somebody wrote an article—its title eludes me—about sending a sample of Nabokov’s writing for review. This sample was sent under a pseudonym. The advice was to make the writing simple and economical.
That made me wonder. How much of our judgements about ornate writing are post-hoc rationalisations? Do we fish for reasons to judge the writing as good because we know the author is a masterful stylist? Would we judge their writing the same if it were written by a nameless, faceless stranger on the internet?
I’m denying neither that Nabokov is an excellent writer nor that his work is immune from criticism. I just wonder how much established authors fairly evade and unknown authors bear the brunt of a certain type of criticism.
With all of this in mind:
Do you think that Nabokov’s writing would be well-received if he were an unknown author in 2024?
[I’d like to keep the focus on his writing style not on the controversial nature of some of his books.]
Great_Ad_5561:  I used an alt account to post an excerpt from an award-winning novel in r/writers, and it was torn apart. I think people these days don't appreciate anything that isn't straightforward. Of course, there are those who still enjoy it, but for the most part, lives are busier now than they were then, and to some, it is easier to read straightforward books.
Bridalhat:  Also, judging by the types of work most commonly posted here, r/writers and r/writing is not full of literary scholars, writers, or readers. Which is fine! But there’s probably more people here who like Sanderson’s prose than who have read Nabokov period, maybe excluding Lolita.
SizeableDuck: I'm not a fan of this trend at all, though everyone's obviously entitled to their opinion.
I read Lolita recently and absolutely loved it mainly because of how witty and poetic the prose was - completely unlike anything published nowadays, not to mention its subject matter. It's clear from the first page that Nabakov was a genius.
Tried Way of Kings for the first time shortly afterwards and found it to be the driest, most watered-down thing I've ever read by comparison. The only thing about it that challenged me was reaching the final page.
I get that Sanderson has a different style and his writing is -meant- to be completely lacking in spice, style and charm in order to make his stories more palatable for the average fantasy fan nowadays, but look me in the eye and tell me you've ever laughed at the constant, god-awful wordplay in those books.
He just describes exactly what's happening in the plot and the character's heads. There's no poetry and it makes me a little bit sad to see so many people praising him as an amazing fantasy writer purely because of his plots.
You can find a ton of writers nowadays that're like Sanderson, but you can't find any closer to Nabakov.
Brandon Sanderson:  While I agree that taste is completely subjective--and it's never offensive for someone to simply not like a book--I think you're spreading some misinformation here.
Those of us trying for clean, striking prose aren't doing it to make "stories more palatable for the average fantasy fan nowadays." We do it because we like this style, and would rather the ideas--and not the method by which they are expressed--be the challenging part of a story. I find it insulting that you'd imply prose choice is anything but a literary decision made for the merits of the narrative.
This division isn't new. George Orwell was advocating for clean, crisp prose in the 40s, a full decade before Lolita was written. This push and pull between clarity and ornament stretches back to Shakespeare, whose contemporaries would lambast his flourishes as incomprehensible. (Not that I mind, obviously, literary genius being in the ornaments. It's only that I find multiple kinds of writing worthwhile.)
Moreover, you can absolutely find writers closer to Nabakov today. Guy Gavriel Kay is still writing, and is one of my favorites. (Try Under Heaven.) Hal Duncan is still writing, and is amazing, though rarely releases anything. And, of course, there's N. K. Jemisin--not the same, but most certainly "closer to Nabakov." Even the majority of the writers in the New Weird experimented with style in the same ways as I think you'd like.
Many varieties of writing are valuable to the craft, and I suggest new writers (many of whom frequent this subreddit) practice multiple styles to find the ones that appeal to them and match their narrative goals. It's totally fine to prefer one over another, but I find abundant "spice, style, and charm" in something crisp like Harrison Bergeron--indeed, I find just as much of it as I do in something like Lolita, if for different reasons.
SizeableDuck:  Much more level-headed and correct than what I was typing last night. Thanks for the recommendations, too.
Edit: Just realised you are the man himself. I take everything back.
Edit 2: By this I mean I take back my previous rudeness twofold. I had a think about it this morning when I read his reply and realised that the creatives I love to shit on have, in most cases, accomplished more than I could hope to. And in addition, probably know more about the topics I'm criticising than I do.

Ok, so I saw your post about batfam in Pjo cabins. I loved it but I just have one criticism, Jason in either a Dionysus or Apollo kid.
Apollo because:
1. Don't you dare insult his mom in front of him (didn't Apollo kill a whole kingdom because they insulted his mother)
2. His thirst for knowledge, people often forget that Jason genuinely enjoyed school and learning new things (coincidentally Apollo is also the god of knowledge)
3. His fav subject? English (a language, and Apollo is also the god of languages)
Dionysus because of the Theatre kid vibes I get from him
But I would like to know your thought process too!!!
OH MY GOD, YESSSS!!! I'm so glad someone also agrees that Jason is an Apollo's kid. Unfortunately, the post I made was a heat of the moment kind(cuz I haven't done a DC post in a while), and because of that, I didn't take into account that Jason is also an Apollo kid.
I think that he was 100% an Apollo kid before he died but after death, there was all that rage and hate in his character, which led me to sort him into Ares
Let's not forget the fact that Jason was considered to be the most behaved Robin. He wasn't vengeful, he didn't stalk, he didn't kill; this boy just wanted to have a good and normal life without having to worry about anything, but he was drawn a bad hand.
In a world where Jason was raised without the poverty and crime around him, he would have been an Apollo kid. Technicqlly he still is, but do we get enough nedry and dorky Jason? Nooooo. I often headcanon that Jason became a Literature Professor (let's not forget thar Apollo is also the God of Poetry) in a No Capes AU. If not, then Lawyer (story for another time).
I agree that Jason is an Apollo kid with all the nerdiness and dorkiness in him.
Jason being an Ares kid is, I agree, a bit stereotypical for him. However, again, there is more to their characters that wanting to fight and wanting bloodshed.
If you don't already know, Ares is actually one of the most caring parents and respectful in the mythology. Not the series, the MYTHOLOGY. This man never raped, is an amazing father to his children, and is a protector of those who can't protect those who are seen to be not worth protecting. (Idc if the rape thing technically has nothing to do with Jason but it felt like it deserved a mention)
Jason is one of many misunderstood and misconceptualized characters in DC. And both he and Ares are only viewed for their bloodlust and violence. When really, there are so much more to their characters than that and people refuse to see that side of them cuz they want to limit their personality to that certain figure.
TL;DR: I do agree that Jason is an Apollo kid. However, in my personal opinion, it was more in pre-death. After death his Apollo-ness was still there but not as much. I personally think he was more an Ares post-death.
AGAIN, I have never read PJO and I'm basing this on what I already know about the series and about the mythology

insecure s/o hcs ; hunter
Tumblr media
requested by ; anonymous (03/05/23)
fandom(s) ; the owl house
fandom masterlist(s) ; main | hunter-only
character(s) ; hunter wittebane
outline ; “Hi! I love your writing!! I was wondering if you could do a Hunter x Reader where the reader is super body insecure, and Hunter comforts them?”
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
the moment he realises that something is up with you, he’s quick to try and bring it up
he’s gentle with his words, careful with what he says so he doesn’t hurt you or make you feel pressured to lie
his goal, after all, is to help you not hurt you
and after a long while, you finally agree to talk about what’s been bothering you
you’re sat on your bed and hunter’s sat next to you but facing you, he’s holding your hands in his own and rubbing comforting circles on their backs as he listens to you explain (his brow furrowed and his head nodding reassuringly)
you mention that you’ve started to feel insecure in your body, in your appearance
and it breaks his heart
but he doesn’t say that, no, opting instead to bundle you into his arms and to pull you into a tight hug as he presses his lips against the crown of your head
he’s gentle still as he rubs circles on your back and as he so earnestly tries to comfort you with his words
he thanks you for trusting him enough to tell him that you feel this way
he says that he doesn’t understand how you could see yourself as anything less than beautiful — artful — as he does
and he promises that he’ll do everything he can to help you learn to love your body as much as he does
he urges you to look into his eyes as he peppers kisses about your face (your cheeks, your eyelids, your nose and lips)
and he gives you the most genuine compliments you’ve heard in your life
he damn near composes poetry about the ridges and dips, the swells and curves, the stretch marks and scars, the dimples and spots and freckles of your body
of your chest and arms, your stomach and backside, your thighs and legs
confessing his love for every aspect of your body because they’re yours and you’re the most amazing person he’s ever known
and even if you don’t believe him yet, don’t see yourself a he does, he’ll do everything in his power to make sure that there comes a point where you do
when you can look in the mirror and love yourself, smile at your reflection and thank your body for what it does
and he’ll be with you every step of the way

Courtney relationship headcanons! Both platonic + romantic ones! (this is going to be a long one)
Duncney!! (romantic)
- Duncan takes Courtney on the most show stopping, thoughtful, and romantic dates EVER, but he still manages to show up dressing like a hobo
- Courtney tends overworks herself, but Duncan will quite literally throw her over his shoulder to go out for coffee or something like that
- Both Courtney and Duncan can cook really well, but physically CANNOT share a kitchen without setting it ablaze with all of their constant bickering
- Duncan simps so hard for Courtney’s singing voice.
- Duncney does frequent karaoke nights with the rest of the KB5
- Whenever Duncan sees anything with the word “princess” on it, he automatically buys it for Courtney. (The tackier the item, the better)
- Duncan likes his coffee black, while Courtney likes it with an ungodly amount of sugar and creamer
Heathney!! (romantic)
- Heather is a lot taller than Courtney, affectionately giving her the nickname “shortney” (canon heights can cry me a river, we all know courtney is a short little hobgoblin who isn’t afraid to kick anyone’s ass)
- Courtney and Heather cannot vocally express their feelings for one another for the life of them, so Heather just resorts to leaving flowers (either carnations or heathers) on courtney’s work desk. While Courtney writes Heather “anonymous poetry”
- Heather carries Courtney EVERYWHERE. Courtney will be reading and minding her own business, then Heather will just randomly pick her up, and tote her around bridal style
- These bitches try to one up each other on EVERYTHING, including romantic gestures. Heather writes Courtney a sweet note? Courtney fires back with an entire novel. Etc
- Courtney is prone to anxiety attacks, and Heather is the only one who can properly calm her down.
- They talk shit about people on their dates
- Heather loves braiding courtney’s hair
Bridgeney (platonic)!
- They watch cheesy rom coms together
- there was a period of time where people thought they were dating
- Bridgette and Courtney are super emotionally open with each other, and most of the time their conversations end with them both sobbing and hugging
- They help each other get ready for dates
- Bridgette wears sandals and shorts in the snow, while Courtney is wearing sweaters in august
- closest friends you will EVER meet
- They call each other “Bridge” and “Court” NEVER by their full names
Gwourtney! (platonic, I’m sorry I can’t do romantic Gwourtney😭 I love it as a concept, but it just doesn’t do it for me)
- Gwen does courtney’s makeup
- Gwen has a FAT CRUSH on Courtney, but Courtney is blissfully unaware
- Gwen draws Courtney all of the time
- They act like Katie and Sadie sometimes tbh
- They clown on each other for their abhorrent love lives
Trentney (platonic)
- They write music together a LOT
- I feel like there were romantic feelings there, but the timing wasn’t right
- They give each other really insightful advice
- When Trent split from the drama brothers, he went forward with his solo music career. However, he did a concert tour around Canada with Courtney, since they’re the musical duo we deserved
- Trent is a good shoulder to lean on for Courtney when it comes to her anger management, as he’s generally pretty relaxed
Scottney (romantic)
- Scott calls Courtney his boyfriend, and Courtney calls Scott her girlfriend
- They definitely have those boyfriend girlfriend matching shirts
- Scott takes Courtney to his farm and his different lifestyle absolutely AMAZES her. Like she is in love with all of this farm animals
- Courtney is shockingly comforting and soothing when it comes to Scott’s trauma with Fang. She helps him calm down whenever he has a panic attack about that god damn shark
- Ice cream sundaes are outlawed.
Courtma (platonic)
- Courtney and Emma work at the same lawfirm. They kick ass.
- They get along scarily well. Like…you’d expect them to butt heads, but no! They agree on practically everything
Courtler (platonic)
-Tyler is a dumb jock, but Courtney is a smart gymnast
-Tyler is prone to injury, but courtney’s CIT medical training saves the day!
-They’re bffs and I can’t tell you why I will die on that hill
Courtlody (platonic)
- Cousins perhaps?
- Courtney and Ellody are in STEM club or something together
- I just think they’d geek out together and it would be cute
Zoney (platonic)
- Zoey KNOWS Courtney has a big old heart deep down, and is determined to find it. When she eventually does weasel her way into courtney’s heart, their friendship is beyond wholesome
- They go out to brunch together
- The kind of gal pals who have sleepovers and talk about their deepest darkest secrets
- cuddle but in a platonic way
Coco (platonic)
-Courtney and Cody have a sibling dynamic. That’s all
Courterra (platonic)
- Heather simps fr
- Sierra will say the most diabolically personal thing about Courtney, but that escalated to Sierra finding the root of Courtney’s problems and working through things
- Shockingly good friends

Hey, I'd love a matchup for Castlevania, if you're up for it (was not the person who wrote you those ask anons btw, although I appreciate them clearing things up).
I’m a heterosexual cis woman, although I’m starting to suspect I’m on the asexual spectrum. So, I'd prefer a male matchup. Also not super sure I'd be down with polygamy.
I'm a premed student (no time for irl dating unfortunately 😭). I also work as a volunteer EMS on weekends. Outside of my school and work my hobbies are singing (musical theatre and classical mostly), theatre (backstage work as well as performing), skiing (the only sport I’m any good at) and TTRPGs (was this close to getting my group to play a Castlevania campaign 😔).
I’m also a big nerd about history, American comics, and folklore. I’ll rant for hours about my special interests if nobody stops me. I’d describe myself as ambiverted. I'm socially awkward, but also very loud and expressive. I’m a bit oblivious, I’ll admit lol, but I do my best. My MBTI is ESTJ, and while I doubt MBTI's accuracy, I agree I’m very Type A. When it comes to the things I’m good at, I’m a major perfectionist, but I’m proud of how hard I work. I think my greatest weakness is probably thoughtlessness, but my greatest strength is humility.  My giving love language is acts of service, and my receiving love language is quality time. I'm verbally affectionate towards friends but I freeze like a deer in headlights if somebody flirts with me. Also: I know appearance isn’t super important, but I think it’s important to know I’m only around 5’0 tall. As my friends say, "headpat size."
A/N: Okay for you my PreMed Student Anon (that’s amazing, congratulations by the way!)I have two potential matches in mind. You said you’re heterosexual and would prefer male results, so I chose two from that gender because I honestly couldn’t decide which would please you best. For you, I’m thinking either Dracula or Alucard would be your perfect romantic matchups! (It really does just come down to which man you’d like better: father or son, lol.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dracula (Vlad Tepes), as terrifying as he may be when he decides to enact justice on the human population, is a very reserved and intellectual man. He’s introverted and devoted much of his life to learning about anything and everything from medicine to history to poetry.
In this instance let’s pretend he’s either never met Lisa or he did meet and fall in love with Lisa but she either lived a full life and died of natural causes, or Dracula was able to overcome the anger and blame he held for humanity following her murder.
Dracula is a patient man. Being immortal means he understands that you must dedicate much of your time to your studies and your volunteer work. So long as the few moments you do get to spend with him are uninterrupted and meaningful, I believe he’d be understanding, and even supportive of your academic endeavors. He was more than happy to aid Lisa in her quest to learn more about biology, so I have no doubt he’d do similarly for you. Any questions you have, he’d gladly answer them. Any resource he has in his castle, any book or scroll, any record of any kind is yours to inspect. He has no doubts that you’re going to make a very accomplished professional one day, and he has every intention of doing whatever it takes to help you get there.
Along with that patience comes an understanding that sex is not the end all be all in life. Sure, it has its place for either pleasure or reproduction but it doesn't need to dominate relationships. If sex is something you're hesitant about, or against having, it doesn't make much difference to him. Dracula would be fine without sleeping with you, so long as he can have you in other ways. Holding you close, holding your hand, sitting next to you in front of a warm fire- those things are what make him feel close to your heart.
Dracula also enjoys how animated you get when you go on rants about your special interests. He’s very versed in history and folklore as well, although not American comics, so he would listen intently as you teach him all you know.
As an ESTJ, you would be very grounding for him (an INTJ), while still having a great deal in common. The both of you value an intellectual connection in a relationship while your more empathetic, extroverted side would help push him to see the truth of humanity where he may previously have only seen things in shades of black and white. You both strive for the best, and that suits you just fine with your perfectionism, but do be warned, there may be times you don’t see eye to eye. What you hold as most important in an issue or debate may be different than what he holds. Remember to be patient. INTJs are prone to stubbornness, but being a Type A personality, I do not doubt that you’ll be able to handle any contrary moods of his just fine.
Your thoughtlessness can also be a source of discourse within the relationship, as Dracula is bound to worry about you. You’re human, you're fragile and under so much pressure. He cares deeply for you and does not want to see you hurt. The one advantage you do have, however, is your humility. It keeps you from being both arrogant and thoughtless which is a much more dangerous combination. So long as you are aware enough of your limits, and keep your wits about you the best you can, Dracula promises to trust you enough to let you come and go as you need to, so long as you’re willing to admit when you need help. But with your best trait being your humility, that shouldn't be a problem.
Dracula is so touched by your acts of service. Being such an ancient and scary vampire no one ever thought to make him tea or ask if he needed help with anything. He feels so fortunate to have a partner who does not see him solely as ‘Dracula’, Lord of Vampires, but as Vlad Tepes, a man at heart.
Not to mention your size difference is too adorable for words. He’s so tall and you’re so tiny… He always kneels whenever you ask for a kiss, he’ll never ask you to step on a stool or climb a ladder to reach him. He’s more than happy to come to you. He loves you. You are his new light, his new reason to believe in humanity.
Tumblr media
Alucard (Adrian Tepes) could also be a good match for you! He’s an ambivert like you, although he may not admit it. He’s the son of a scholar and a doctor, so he’s very understanding when it comes to your education and career. And his empathetic nature makes him extremely compatible with your considerate one.
As Alucard is a dhampir and immortal, this matchup could work in either medieval times or modern times. For the sake of this matchup, imagine whatever you might prefer.
Alucard hasn’t always had the best experience when it comes to sex. Granted, you can’t judge every potential future experience based on one horrible one, but he’s not the kind of guy who jumps into bed easily. He has reservations and feels very insecure about the whole act. Should he ever engage in it, he’d need a partner who’s very understanding, or just as nervous as he is about the whole thing. In hindsight, I don’t think Alucard would mind not having all that much sex: for him, your continued company means more than any sexual endeavor could.
Alucard is very impressed with your decision to go into pre med. He knows how much work that means you’re going to be undertaking, and he’ll do whatever he can to support you, either in your studies or in your personal life. He’s very well-read and rather educated on biology as his mother was a physician, so feel free to ask him any questions or have him quiz you before exams. He’s also a bit of an obsessive lover. When he decides he likes someone, he makes a point to memorize that person. (Recall the Trevor and Sypha dolls?) He wants to know what you think and why you think it. That way, he can anticipate your thoughts or needs.
And he does quite enjoy it when you sing to him, especially if you sing him to sleep. Sleep hasn't always come easy to him, but with your presence and your lovely voice, it’s as if an angel is singing him a lullaby. I also believe Alucard would absolutely thrive playing TTRPG: he’s sarcastic, smart and strategic. I really think he’d dominate any campaign he set his mind to. Plus, it’d be great socialization for him besides you.
As an ESTJ you’re fairly compatible with Alucard’s INFJ. You’re just extroverted enough to pull him out of his idealistic daydreams, but grounded and predictable enough not to shake his confidence or trust in you/your relationship. The only possible issue is that INFJs can sometimes get caught up in the fantastical destiny of it all: it’s about people and purpose. Whereas ESTJs tend to be a bit more practical- you value reality and stability a bit more than potential and daydreams. But I don’t envision this to be a huge problem, so long as you push communication with Alucard. He internalizes a lot. He’ll need to be reminded to share his inner feelings. So long as you do that, I don’t see any major discourse between you two.
Alucard may be a little disappointed in your moments of thoughtlessness, but at the same time, he finds them endearing. You try so hard: you’re a perfectionist like he is, and even though you’re only human, you strive for the same greatness. It’s rather admirable. He likes that about you.
Alucard would also be very touched by your acts of service, mainly because he often finds himself doing the service for others. It’s nice to be taken care of for a change. And he is very happy to spend quality time with you. He’d follow you everywhere if you let him. So long as he’s near you, he feels complete. He’s always leaning down to give you soft forehead kisses whenever you’re around. You’re so precious to him.

Hi! I just wanted to say that I so agree that Pete doesn't explain his lyrics because it's nigh impossible — like, it's all in there, but in the meantime it's ALL in there. And I also wanted to point out that Patrick doesn't ask because he gets it. Well, maybe some of it does go over his head sometimes but he's also so good with "what feels like the same song", as he puts it. That the exact reason why Pete trusts him with "editing". Sorry, their process just blows my mind every time.
No, it really blows my mind every time I think about it, too. First of all, the enormous trust they have in each other, that Patrick doesn't ask but he edits with care and thoughtfulness and understanding; that Pete doesn't explain and just sends it off for Patrick to make into something else. Like, that level of trust is HUGE, sometimes I come close to comprehending it and can't quite get there lolololol
but aside from the trust is also the sheer, fabulous luck that they happened upon each other and they fit so perfectly together. That Patrick likes to write rambly songs and found a guy who writes poorly shaped lyrics for him to use. That Pete likes to write poetry but wants it to be music and found a guy who can turn it into music. I think a lot about that Tumblr post that's a quote from some guy that's like, "I looked at Patrick and said, 'You're so lucky you met this guy.' And then I looked at Pete and said, 'You're so lucky you met this guy.'"
and on top of the trust and the luck is the fact that they clearly know how unique and amazing their situation is and they appreciate it, they're very grateful for each other and this thing they've carved out. Patrick over and over in that podcast episode says they're a weird band, and Pete says the same thing when asked, that the way he works with Patrick isn't what people usually do. But it's not weird to them. They know how lucky they are. I think they think about it a lot tbh.
The whole thing is just SO MUCH.

Lazy Day
+18 Smut / Fluffy
Tumblr media
Pairing: Defender!Strange x Fem!Reader (Established relationship)
Synopsis: Stephen decides he needs to spend more time with the reader and make up for being such a busy man.
Warnings: Sexual content: Oral sex (Male receiving), Masturbation (Both receiving), Slight female dominance, Choking, P in V.
Word Count: 2,700k
A/N: Super fluffly and super smutty. Defender Strange being a sub just the way we like him to be. Same pair from Let Me Take Care of You and Give Me Some Attention.
As usual I would like to remind you that english is not my first language so this will probably have some grammatical mistakes here and there but I hope it doesnt spoil your experience.
----------------------------
It was Saturday and Stephen promised to spend the day with you. Wong agreed to take care of things for a day and as everything went smoothly, he gave in to your request. He knew your complaints that he was working too much and spending too little time with you were fair. Sometimes he felt guilty, but his responsibilities as Sorcerer Supreme weren't like any other job he could just take a vacation from.
You understood that. Your complaints were more because you missed him than because you were angry with him. You were almost never mad at Stephen, at least not really.
You admired him. You admired his work. You admired how amazing he was at everything. Could it be him being a super powerful sorcerer and protector of reality or simply a great cook and poetry reciter. Everything Stephen did was masterfully and that was beyond many things, super sexy.
Stephen wasn't in bed when you woke up. Of course, he was used to waking up very early and past 9am you'd imagine he was already freaking out from the idle time. Maybe he even slipped into the Sanctum while you slept to make sure everything was all right. You got up stretching and after brushing your teeth and doing your morning skincare ritual, you went downstairs after him.
You weren't surprised when you found him in the kitchen making breakfast. Without making a sound, you leaned your head against the doorframe and stood there for a second watching him.
He wore sweatpants, was barefoot and shirtless. His hair was tied up in a bun, a few strands falling over his face. You sighed thinking that no man in the world could be more handsome than your Stephen.
"I know what you're doing"
He said, his voice a little huskier than usual.
“I'm just admiring the view.”
You said walking to him and hugging him from behind, standing on tiptoe to place a kiss on his shoulder.
“Good morning to you too” He chuckled turning off the heat after frying the last pancake. He had cooked eggs and bacon too.
“What have I done to deserve you, Defender Strange?”
He turned to face you and held your face in his hands
“I ask the same question every day.”
He kissed your lips and it was so easy to get lost in those lips. Soon, what was just a good morning kiss became a wet, passionate kiss.
He walked away “Your breakfast will get cold.”
You smiled and helped him set the table. The two of you ate together and you found yourself thinking you had no idea when was the last time you had breakfast with Stephen. He always woke up before you, even on weekdays, when you woke up to go to work he was already gone and on weekends you could stay in bed late, he always had a reason to get up early, always something or someone who needed his attention.
“So, what are the plans for today?” You asked and he smiled.
“No plans. I am all yours. What do you want to do?”
You thought for a moment “Watch Netflix, maybe.”
He raised an eyebrow as he picked up the plates and cups
“I thought you might want to go out.”
You sighed watching him put the dishes in the dishwasher and organize everything. How could he be so perfect even in housework?
You looked out the window “It's raining! I just want to cuddle with you on the couch without worrying about anything else. That's my idea of a perfect day.”
“No sex?” He asked coming towards you and pulling you out of the chair, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Maybe, if you behave and deserve it” You replied with a smirk.
He kissed your cheek and deliberately rubbed his beard on your neck making you shiver
“Or maybe I better not behave so you have to punish me.”
You bit your bottom lip “You're such a sub sometimes.”
He smirked  “Just for you. You know what you do to me.”
“Well, I'm not complaining.” You kissed his lips, but this time you were the one who pulled away.
Convincing Stephen to watch your shows with you was a Herculean task. First, because he never had time to watch anything and when he did find time, he complained about whatever you chose.
Perfect as he was, still Stephen had a knack for pissing you off at times and you wanted to kill him when he pointed out flaws in a movie or series you liked, but as surprising as it was, he wasn't opposed to watching Stranger Things with you and soon the two of you were cuddled lying on the couch.
He positioned himself behind you with his arm tight around your waist, his leg entwined in yours. You held his hand, lacing your fingers through his, caressing and tracing the scars lightly. You didn't even realize you were doing that, but he noticed that you had a special affection for his hands and in the begining that made him uncomfortable, his hands were his weakness, but after a while he understood that that was your way of showing love for them.
Stephen was always amazed at how you could get lost in stories like that. He actually thought it was cute, although he had no interest in it at all, but seeing you jump in fright or put your hand to your mouth in surprise at some event on screen made him laugh, not at you, but for you. In a life as troubled as his, with so many responsibilities, where one mistake could mean the death of countless lives, you brought lightness to him. Moments like that kept him sane.
You were the bridge that took him to normality and as much as he thought he had given up on that when he became a master of the mystic arts and later Sorcerer Supreme, he realized how much he needed that normalcy when he met you. However, that didn't change the fact that he was bored by all that story.
Without holding back, he started kissing your shoulder, his lips moving up your neck and making you shiver. He made it a challenge: how much effort would it take to make you lose interest altogether and become interested in other forms of entertainment he could gladly offer you? He freed his hand from yours and caressed your side lightly over the pajamas you were wearing and lightly bit your ear, rubbing the beard on your neck. He knew it always worked for you and he smiled with satisfaction when you shivered at the touch.
“Stephen... I know what you're doing”
He hummed innocently and went back to rubbing his beard on you, his hand moving down your thigh and squeezing gently. You kept staring at the TV so as not to give him the satisfaction of seeing you give in so easily, but you were hardly paying attention to the events unfolding on the screen.
He lowered his hand caressing your ass and continued lowering it getting inside your shorts. He used the leg that was between yours to force you open wider and he caressed that warm and velvet spot over your panties. He buried his face between your neck and your shoulders and bit lightly and you sighed making an adorable noise that made his cock throb.
By then he was totally hard and made sure you noticed it rubbing his hip against your ass and squeezing you against him.
You could feel your body responding to his advances, but you were convinced not to give in and continue with that little game of yours.
He sighed heavily in your ear, bringing his hand to your breast, caressing it through your blouse and feeling your nipple hardening at his touch. “Come on baby, I know you want me. I can smell it on you.”
You felt your skin prickling at the sound of his voice and you moaned softly, deliberately moving your hips to rub his shaft.
“You are such a tease, Stephen” You said surrendering. That game didn't make any sense when you always ended up giving in in the end.
He chuckled and moved on the couch to let you lie on your back and ran his hand inside your shorts and panties circling your clit as he stared at you with those deep blue eyes.
“I said I wouldn't behave.”
You moaned softly, surrendering to his touch as he took a finger inside you and tsked
“Your body can't hide how much you want me.”  He putted a second finger inside you.
Your hand went down to his hip and you touched his hard cock fully visible through his pants and smirked sly “Yours neither”
He kissed your lips and bit your bottom lip, then smoothed it with the tip of his tongue.
“Who said I want to hide it”
You bit his lip a little harder.
He moved his fingers slowly, curling them to hit that sweet spot and you moved your hips against his hand.
He kept his eyes on you as he increased the pace. He loved watching the expressions of pleasure on your face and the sweet moans that escaped your lips. When he brought his thumb to your clit, moving in sync with his two fingers inside you, you felt your body begin to shake.
“Oh Stephen...” You bit your lip.
He smiled satisfied “Already?”
You brought your hand up to his face “Kiss me, baby.”
He obeyed by kissing you. Your tongue entering his mouth dominating him. You moaned even louder into his lips and he increased the pace of his fingers even more.
Your entire body shook in his hands and you had to part your lips to breathe.
“Oh fuck.. fuck you Stephen!”
He smiled openly watching as you revel in your orgasm, your entire body convulsing at his touch.
“All I want is you fucking me, baby.”
You sighed heavily coming down your high “You'll pay for this.”
He smirked “For making you cum?”
You nodded “For making me lose our game. I can't resist you, but I can make you lose too.”
“I am sure you can” He chuckled caressing your face.
You turned around going to him, making him lie on his back on the couch and getting between his legs kissing him intensely and went down his lips to his neck leaving kisses and bites there and continued down licking a nipple, sucking and biting and pinching the other. He hissed, enjoying the sensation and you could feel his cock throbbing.
“Baby, please... I need you.” He said grabbing your hair and lightly pushing your head down.
You smiled satisfied “Say please again.”
He stared at you biting his lower lip and pressing his hips up against you “Please.”
You hummed and moved your lips down his belly slowly. You admired his cock under his pants, it was quite a sight. You stroked it through his pants feeling it twitch in your palm.
“You're so big, Stephen. I love that”
You kissed him through the fabric teasing him and he moaned softly, moving his hips. Finally you pulled down his pants and boxers revealing his hard cock, his head already wet with precum. You licked your lips
“Look at you baby, so hard for me, needing to be fucked.”
Your taunts drove him to the brink of madness. He loved it when you talked to him like that, he loved the tone of your voice, the malice in it, but at that moment it really felt like torture and he couldn't wait any longer. He needed you.
“Touch me. [Y/N], stop teasing, just touch me. Please.”
You finally took it in your hand. You stuck your tongue out by tapping his cock on it tasting his precum. You spat on him using your saliva to lubricate it, spreading it with your hand as you slowly stroked it from top to bottom and circling the tip with the palm of the your hand.
He groaned loudly in approval.
You spat again and smeared saliva over him making him totally wet and then added your other hand. Holding it firmly at the base and caressing the tip with circular gestures making a delicious wet noise.
“Oh my god, baby, it feels so good.” His voice was almost a whisper punctuated by low moans.
You added your tongue licking the tip and he moaned loudly, moving his hips involuntarily. You ran your tongue down the entire length, giving him light kisses and jerking him quickly.
You spat at him again, increasing the pace and he groaned loudly, unable to control himself. You kept your eyes on him and it was amazing to see him surrender to pleasure like that. He brought his hand up to your chin directing you to his cock.
“Put it in your mouth. I love your mouth, baby, let me feel it around my cock.”
You smiled in obedience and put it in your mouth going as deep as you could and caressing the rest with your hand. You forced yourself to swallow it, his head slamming against your throat making you choke on him. Your eyes filled with tears. Saliva dripping from your mouth, but you kept up the pace. Taking it out of your mouth, licking the tip and swallowing it again until your nose touched his skin and soon he was panting heavily.
“Oh fuck. You gonna make me cum like this, baby.”
You took it out of your mouth smiling satisfied with your work
“Not yet. I am going to fuck you first.”  You said as you wrapped your legs around his waist and put him inside you. He groaned loudly and brought his hands to your ass helping you maintain a slow but intense pace, going all the way down and then lifting your hip up leaving just his tip inside you and then lowering you going all the way inside until you feel his balls deep in your ass.
“Oh Stephen, your cock is so good. You fuck me so good”
He moaned loudly and you took your hand to his throat squeezing it and he hissed in approval.
You started riding him faster, you could feel he was about to cum and you put more pressure on your movements as you moved on top of him in circular motions, rubbing your clit in his pubic hair taking as much friction as possible. You tightened your hand on his throat, choking him, he closed his eyes, leaning his head back, the sight of him fully surrendered to you carrying you to your orgasm.
“Baby I am gonna cum” You almost screamed “Please, Stephen cum with me. Cum inside me, I wanna feel your cum inside me.”
He moaned loudly as you tightened your hand around his throat even more, his cock throbbing and spilling inside you.
You closed your eyes, surrendering to your own climax, moaning sweet praises to him.
“Stephen you are so good to me, you fuck me so good. I love you so much.”
You relieved the pressure in his throat as you came down your high collapsing on top of him and pulling him to your lips.
He caressed your hair, your breaths slowly returning to normal.
"You're okay?" he asked kissing your forehead.
You hummed yes.
“I love you [Y/N], sometimes I think I don't say it enough. I know I spend a lot of time working, I'm sorry, but I need you to know how much I love you and how happy you make me.”
You lifted your head resting your chin on his chest and facing him with a silly smile on your lips. “I know, I understand, don't worry. I love you Stephen, I admire everything you do, it's just that sometimes I miss you”
He nodded “I know"
You caressed his face. The bun had given way and his hair was hanging loose and a little messy. You ran your hand through his hair “You make me so happy, Stephen. I wouldn't trade what we have for the world.”
He pulled you to his lips with a satisfied sigh and then smiled smugly “I think I'll let you watch your series now.”
You giggled “Promise?”
He smirked “For now.”
