summary: After your time as the pharmacist in the army, you think back to your days when you first started at the pharmacy. You were in your late 20's, less experienced and also less stressed, and more importantly had not familiarized with your patient. However, you fondly remember how you got to know each member of the 141.

"Alright Captain, here's the keys," the head of the medical department said as she dropped them in your hand, "the pharmacy opens in an hour." You held the heavy chain in your palm, noting the various tags on the individual keys. "Wait, what do you mean in an hour?" you questioned as you stood outside the locked gates. She let out a laugh before responding. "An hour, Captain," she corrected and your eyes widened, "you're the new pharmacist in charge and the Army wouldn't have picked you if they didn't think you would be able to do this." With that, she walked off, leaving you to fumble around and try to orient yourself in the new area.

Despite the awful time you had waking up at 05:00, any sense of sleeplessness was gone and you were fully running on adrenaline. You felt like someone injected you with epinephrine based on how you ran around the pharmacy, trying to fill scripts and get your logins in. At 06:30, you heard a knock on the door to the pharmacy. You practically jumped, almost dropping the bottle of Metformin in your hand. "Hello?" you questioned as you saw a uniformed officer standing with a water bottle. "You must be the new pharmacist," she smiled and you opened the door to fully, "I'm your technician." You could feel your stress subside as she gave you a quick tour of the pharmacy. By the time she was finished, she informed you she would take care of the incoming scripts while you managed the queue and the verification process.

To your delight, the automatic pharmacy doors opened and you saw there was not a large queue of soldiers waiting for their scripts. You took a moment to catch your breath and review some of the new scripts as well as the occasional filled prescription that required your verification. You were focused, drowning out the sounds of the pills hitting the tray and the occasional conversations in the hallway. "Um Captain," your technician called, "I think someone is waiting." You felt your face flush as you quickly walked over to see a captain politely waiting. "I'm so sorry," you apologized as you looked up at him, "first day on the job." "It's alright," he reassured and you smiled, relieved he wasn't an irate customer.

"Did you check in with the app?" you asked and he shook his head. "I like to come early to avoid all that nonsense, I believe medical sent something down for me," he spoke gently, "the name's John Price." You turned to the computer and took a few moments to orient yourself with the system. Eventually, you were able to find his file amongst the surprising amounts of John Price's in the system. "Yes, looks there's two here for you," you said and turned to search around the bins. You thought searching the system took you long but navigating the bins took even longer. You eventually found the clear bag of his items and returned. "Here you go," you responded, "any questions?" He shook his head and you handed over the bag. Before he left, he turned back to you. "It's already half past 7, you're making it through your first day," he commented. You weren't sure if it was a compliment or a complaint based on your slow time, however, you were comforted knowing the day was going quickly.

After a few more patients, you finally had time to review your emails for the day. You sighed as you clicked through the reminders for meetings and on-boarding. You finally reached something of note. You sat back in the chair as you read through the email and attached file carefully. In summary, it notified you of a certain non-compliant patient who would be visiting your pharmacy soon. You laughed at the bold red letters that read “PLEASE ADVISE SERGEANT MACTAVISH TO TAKE THE FULL COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS.” This was the first email of its kind you’ve received and you laughed at the childlike recommendation.

The incoming scripts had dissipated and your technician decided to take over the counter for you. Eventually, you heard your name being called and you walked over. "Captain, there's a mandatory counseling notification for you," she remarked and you nodded. You looked up to the patient who seemed to know what this was about. "If you don't mind Sergeant, you can come to the vaccination area and we can discuss," you explained with a smile. He nodded at your command and you walked to the private corner. You settled into the plastic chair and he sat across from you. “You're not in any trouble," you joked, "I’ve actually heard a lot about you, Sergeant.” He let out a laugh as you grabbed his medication. “You can drop the formalities,” he said before you began your counseling, “it’s just Johnny.”

"Well Johnny," you returned the conversation to you, "medical wanted me to talk to you about how to take these." Another laugh and this time you looked at him a bit confused. "Doctors are always tellin me that," he said as his voice boomed in the small area. "They are right after all, you should be taking the full course of these," you advised, "they even come counted out for you." You turned the bottle of Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid in your hand, looking at the nine white tablets. "I'm serious, Johnny, you know the types of recurring infections you get if you don't take these," you said, sternly, as if you were a mother chiding their child. "I know, I know, Captain," he said defensively, hands in the air. "Good," you said handing the pills over, "then I shouldn't be seeing a script for you anytime soon." With that, he nodded and you dismissed him before returning back to your computer. Little did you know, you would be cursing at the pharmacy system as a script for Mactavish, John came in for MRSA infection.

After a week, you were finally comfortable in your role as the pharmacy officer. You were able to fill and verify scripts quickly and keep the queue from turning into an angry mob. The constant self-dosing of paracetamol was a thing of the past for you. However, as your technicians were frantically running around when you returned from lunch, your mood changed. After one of them sheepishly explained the situation, you felt like screaming. "What do you mean the medical file system is down?!" you exclaimed as your heart dropped. Apparently, it would be fixed once it was determined to be an error and not a malicious hack. You were also advised to stay off the phone lines and other systems as a precaution. This didn't help you as a platoon of soldiers was coming in for their prescriptions and were leaving on a 6-month deployment.

It would be no issue but you found that you were unable to verify an NSAID allergy for a patient. "Guess I'm doing this the old-fashioned way," you mumbled before walking out the pharmacy doors. As you exited the pharmacy, you soon realized your haste. Despite receiving a full tour on the first day, you had no idea where to go. You spent 15 minutes exploring the halls but to no avail. Finally, you threw in the towel and decided to ask someone. You looked around and saw a sergeant walking down the hall, casually. "Excuse me, Sergeant!" you called out and he walked closer. You read his name tag before continuing. "Sergeant Garrick," you asked as you looked up at him, "would you mind directing me to the medical wing?" "The directions are a bit confusing, so I can walk with you," he offered and you nodded happily.

As you walked, you made pleasant conversation. He asked you many questions about your short time on base and took an interest in your hospital pharmacy job before this. "The career change came when I was tired of mixing IV bags" you explained, remembering how after that shift you went to a recruitment center. In contrast, he described how he enlisted after secondary school and eventually worked his way up the ranks. "Do you ever regret it?" you asked, hoping not to offend the soldier. He let out a small chuckle which rebounded in the linoleum hallway. "Lots of people ask that but there's never a day that I do," he responded, smiling back at you. After the afternoon you had, Sergeant Garrick was a fresh of breath air. His optimism and smile made you think he was his squad's dose of Vitamin C.

Eventually, you saw the sign for the medical wing. Part of you had forgotten this is how your stroll had begun. "And here she is," he presented, sarcastically having his hands. "I can't thank you enough, this would've taken me ages to find," you said with gratitude. He nodded before turning around and walking back to his initial destination. "Thanks for the walk, Captain," he called and you smiled to yourself before navigating through the various doctor's offices.

As you looked up at the clock, you watched it painstakingly go second by second. Fridays and weekends were especially slow as most soldiers were on leave or off-base. You even relieved your technician as the hours slowly passed with no scripts being entered. Eventually, you heard the doors open and you walked to the counter.“Can I return this?” the man spoke, pushing over a small bottle of pills. You looked up at him, reading his name tag. “Well, Lieutenant Riley. If it’s an antibiotic you can toss it once the course is completed, you don’t have to come back here,” you clarified, expecting him to take the bottle back. But he simply shook his head. You placated the lieutenant and picked up the bottle. It looked like one from a civilian chemists and you turned the label to find it was a prescription for fluoxetine.

"Oh I see now," you realized, "I can dispose of this for you." As you threw the bottle into the bin to process later, you realized he was still standing at the counter. "Did you need something else, Lieutenant?" you asked as he stood in place. "Is there any way to get it off my file? The chemists gave this to me for the third time and I don't take it anymore," he requested and you were more than happy to oblige. "Yes, I'm sorry that it still gets sent out when you're on leave," you apologized, turning your gaze to the computer. You typed in a few things and after requesting his full name and date of birth, you were able to pull up his medical file.

Despite looking like a well-oiled machine, his file was as long as the base itself. You scrolled past various psych evals, mandatory therapy notes, and hospital records until you reached his prescription list. You tried to hide your dismay when you saw he was initially prescribed this in 2001, over 20 years ago. You wondered if this was the first time he had ever thought to get it discontinued officially in the records. "Everything alright?" he asked, noting how you stared at the screen and you nodded. "I can remove it for you now and add a note to prevent any further refills," you said and with a few codes and your confirmation, it was successfully removed. You returned back to the counter, letting the lieutenant know it was completed. "Thank you, Captain," he said quietly and turned to probably head back to his quarters. You made sure to close his file before you returned the item, trying to avoid the copious amounts of alerts regarding his plethora of scripts and refills. "Guess I'll be seeing you soon, Lieutenant," you said under your breath, not realizing how often you would be seeing certain patients.

Welcome to To Daydream Believers : A Community Klaine FanWorks Blog

Hello Everyone!

Welcome and Re-Welcome to To Daydream Believers!!

I know the blog has been around forever, but with the influx of new people I thought I'd refresh the blog and welcome everyone again! I've been wanting to give the blog a facelift for a while, and it seems now is as good a time as any to reintroduce and reinvigorate the blog.

What is TDBFic?

I originally started the blog as the fanfiction reblogging sideblog to my original Glee/Klaine rewatch, fun&games, and podcasting blog - @todaydreambelievers. TDB isn't being run any more, but I've always maintained that as long as there is interest - I'd keep the blog going.

The intention of the blog was to be a safe space where fans of Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson could read works (about them individually or as a couple) without fear of running into bashing of either character. It was also meant to be a community blog where anyone could choose to participate on their own terms.

Becoming a Member -

Whether you're an author who would like a place to showcase their works or just a fan who'd like to recommend their favorite fics, anyone is allowed to be a member. All you need to do is shoot me -- @spaceorphan18 -- a message, and I'll make you a member. All I ask is that you follow (my relatively few) guidelines.

Also - even if you become a member, there's no obligation to reblog content, but the option is always open!

Guidelines -

So what are the guidelines?

All fanworks must be Kurt Hummel friendly and Blaine Anderson friendly. While that doesn't mean bad things can't happen to them - it does mean that a fan of either character can read a work and not feel like their favorite character is being intentionally bashed.

Be respectful of other users.

A couple of smaller items such as - please reblog, don't post and don't spam. Some basic common curtesy things.

That's really it. I'll have some more details on a main page when I get that up. But really, it boils down to play nice.

What about tagging?

You don't have to tag - but it is encouraged so people can find your works if they click on one of our links. I'm working on cleaning up the tagging page so that the tagging system is clear and easy to use.

What about all the old stuff?

It's not going anywhere - though please bear with me as I try to clean up the main page. You should be able to find all of the old content, as I don't plan on taking anything down.

Anything new to the blog?

Why yes! I have some ideas for ways to keep the activity up on the blog...

Author Spotlights -- Every week we would highlight a author or artist - featuring their works on the blog. I'd like to do this again! I'll get more details out soon - but anyone is welcome to participate, even if they've done it already!

Prompts & Tropes -- I'm not sure how I'd like to implement these, but I thought it'd be fun if we occasionally did prompts or trope weeks to inspire you to create new things.

Events -- We haven't been event heavy, but @snarkyhag and I are already thinking of something fun to do for this summer!

Polls -- Okay, so this isn't entirely creation focused, but back in the day, TDB did polls every Tuesday. Now that tumblr has a fun, new polling system, I thought I'd bring these back - because why not?

Though many are still feelings the affects from the night of dancing the night away at the Memoriam Ball the night before, there was no slowing the flurry of activity that would overwhelm the Mughal Palace bright && early the next morning. Those who had chosen to stay out enjoying the stragglers && last moments of fun until the wee early dawn hours would surely be feeling regret as they received the last, less desired bits of breakfast... but no one was quite ready for the announcement that was delivered to the dining hall at 11am sharp.

Each guest must subject themselves to a confidential interview with the Sharma advisory staff.

While the royal family && staff assured everyone this was only to gather information for the investigation and gain a more complete understanding as a third party facilitator, some wondered what had given the Mughal Empresses such authority over them all? It was announced that, just like the rest of the guests, each member of the royal Sharma family must also fill out the same report, in good faith.

Each head of household receives an appointment slip with interview times listed for each family member, and they are told if anyone does not cooperate... well, it certainly won't look good. Find the ooc details below.

This is a highly encouraged but optional task. If you choose not to participate, it may make it harder for the admins to include your muse, and their political leanings, in later plot drops, but not impossible! This can be completed at any time.

Everything that is said within this task will become usable information for the admin team to use in future plot drops. No harm will come to your character without permission, though!

Be as brief or as in-depth as you'd like. The content for this questionnaire is that your character is being interviewed privately by an NPC member of the Mughal Court. A single sentence or multiple paragraphs are both perfectly acceptable, whatever the muse dictates.

Hi, I wonder if you have some theory / thoughts about damnatio memoriae ending, losing faith and his (worsen?) mental state.

I'm not Catholic but the connection between mental health and faith is one of my favorite issues to talk about.

Also why Gary tried to make John as the new vessel?

Hey, thank you so much for asking!

I personally see the loss of faith having a few possible explanations! And Gary's focus on John is entirely intentional, both from a mental health standpoint and a general-ish standpoint.

A recap for the general audience (and myself, because I had to look a few things up since it's been a while):

The ending, "A New Vessel" is accompanied by the soundtrack (and text, if I believe) Damnatio Memoriae, which comes to mean a "condemnation of memory", akin to where a person or event is stricken from all official records.

As for the plot of the ending, here's the Wiki's summary -> On the day of the Profane Sabbath, Ward finds his house surrounded by cult members and unlocks the crucifix-riddled door. Inside he confronts Amy, and he begs for the nightmares to end. Amy drags him into her gaping portal, and John finds himself at the abandoned Martin house in complete disrepair, somehow much worse than it was only a month ago. Inside, he discovers that the twins he's been searching for throughout the entire story never existed. Nancy, Amy's mother, miscarried the twins, but was in complete denial of it, going so far as to host a birthday party for them. Eventually, John finds two effigies in their room and succumbs to his despair. Amy and Michael appear and take his hands before a giant demonic hand appears and swallows them up. Then the entire Martin house vanishes.

Please let me know if this needs to be tagged! I also apologize for any grammar errors, I got excited to answer this and I'd just woken up, so my brain isn't all there yet sdjdkdkd—

I'll put my thoughts below the cut, though, because this got more wordy than I'd thought ^^;

In regards to John's deteriorating faith, the explanation for why his faith is so weak/withers so easily is dependent on how the game's plot is interpreted (at least, in my opinion). So, to circle back to some of the points I made in my first solid meta post regarding John [LINK], I'll break down the two primary perceptions.

If assuming everything happening is 100% real and John's perspective is reliable:

It's simply a matter of fighting a losing battle. Seeing your faith be challenged so successfully (re: multiple dead priests, a church taken over by demonic entities, etc) is... a lot!

As someone who's loosely Catholic (vaguely raised, abandoned, and now on the fence of re-converting), the main lesson people are taught is that sin and evil are two very powerful things. They swallow and consume a person. They're what made the world the place it is today, and why humanity could not remain in the Garden of Eden. Of course, the emphasis put on these points and the way they're told is variable on the individual church's belief system (re: the difference between "normal" Catholics and fascist Evangelicals), but that's besides the point.

So John seeing that happen over and over and over, and ultimately failing to save Amy, is just tiring. It's draining. He realizes by the end of Chapter 3 that he's lost, and Gary has won. Gary was right.

However, if assuming that either everything was "in John's head" (lack of better phrasing), or that some things were true but exaggerated by John's mental health:

Then I believe that John's loss of motivation/faith could genuinely be him coming out of an episode and perceiving the gravity of everything.

This is a bit harder to explain given the precursor for this ending is not entering Garyland, and the strongest case could be made by pointing to the fact that, allegedly, John was the one to eviscerate the cultists in the bloodied room... but still. A lot of things happen in Chapter 3 outside of Gary's labyrinth that would weigh heavily on John's consciousness. One of the other most notable circumstances being if he cannot save Lisa from Alu/the cult, and she dies because he (while possessed or in a state of psychosis) ultimately kills her.

That, and there is the idea that John is outright killing the cultists/people he flashes the crucifix to.

Now, before I explain part of that, I just want to say that all cops are shit at their jobs. They protect nobody and often target folk just because they can, and use "self defense" as a way to get out of the repercussions. However, it is interesting that when John raises the crucifix (when exiting the front door of the daycare, opposed to the back entrance), the cops state that he has a gun. Of course, this could be that classic "shoot anything that moves and make a move" mentality, or it could be a genuine observation (after all, they are fictional so there is a chance they have some intelligence).

My disdain for the law aside, the very act of exorcism is a banishment. A damntation of demonic entities back to Hell, where they either are imprisoned (returning to their natural states and unable to re-enter the surface) or executed (if the demon is too weak to presumably recuperate from Christ's intervention/flee to Hell). So, in the assumption that the UNSPEAKABLE really is grasping every cultist's soul... Yeah. They're gone. John has effectively killed the person and, maybe, left behind a husk. A shell of who they were.

And that acts as a segue into the second question:

Why in the hell (pun intended) would Gary want to use a priest as a vessel?

The short answer is that John is, genuinely, the perfect vessel. My understanding of the process is that the victim must be on the younger side, physically healthy, and (most importantly) non-consenting to the process (able to be manipulated and coerced into "consenting").

John is in his early 30s, is pretty healthy minus the achey knee and dormant asthma, and very much non-consenting, seeing as he goes through so much to attempt to stop the UNSPEAKABLE's commanding demon, Gary/Astaroth. Plus him being in active bouts of psychosis makes it so much easier for someone like Gary to affirm the delusions and essentially become the little devil on John's shoulder.

But aside from that, it comes down to power. Gary wants to demonic rebellion to have influence. To be something that compels people and leaves behind a great legacy.

What better way to do that than take a holy man (assuming John is/was ordained) and make him a tool for the devil?

In context of a cult structure, the move is one of the biggest chess plays Gary can make as a leader.

Cults, especially those with destructive and a religious structure, are hierarchial and authoritative. There is supposed to be no question to what the leader wills. What Gary says should go. That's why he ultimately ended up targeting Lisa. As a failed attempt by Tiffany to make Lisa a vessel (and therefore prove her own worthiness to Gary), she knows too much about the true intentions. She is a flight risk. She's been found to be communicating with John (an extension of the church). People like Lisa are dangerous to the cult's imbalance, as are the ties they have within the greater community.

Which is why, too, John becomes such a pertinent target for Gary (lest we forget one of the Chapter 1 endings has him and his cult confront John on an empty highway).

It all shows that, even if he were not a demon, that he is convincing. That he can wear down at someone with a (presumably) strong conviction and duty to Christ. People would be fools to question him! He must know what he's doing if he can "break" a priest.

TLDR: Gary's entire mentality as a cult leader (and demonic commander) trying to regain control after a critical incident ks

And this, ultimately, is what is referred to with the idea of Damnatio Memoriae! John is so overshadowed and overtaken (whether by the UNSPEAKABLE, the cult, or his own mind) that he's effectively erased from memory. Him, the twins, Michael, Amy, they all mean nothing in the grand scheme of what would come should the cult succeed in its plan. They were all mere cogs in the machine.

MOLLY my best friend molly. here is some older art of her !!!

so molly is 18, she lives in a world where some people have superpowers. kind of dc style. she’s an up and coming vigilante in the Big City (which is ILLEGAL but public opinion is mixed bc the government is like. not the best). she ran away from her suburban home after her older sister, angel, attempted to ritually give her superpowers for a plan to turn her into an Actual angel (not a real thing in universe). the powers thing worked but was traumatic and destroyed their relationship. molly is really self-sufficient, reckless, and attributes her continued, lucky survival to the existence of a higher power of angel’s creation. she has a grudge against the government because of the way angel was harmed by the government’s systems. her reckless but effective methods quickly get a lot of attention, both positive and negative, from the media and other heroes and vigilantes like lyov and lyra.

ANGEL the worst ever.

angel, got into like a sidekick training program really young and was considered a prodigy. she would spend winters in the city with the big shots and summers at bible camp with molly. her and molly’s parents commit a religious double suicide when she’s 17 and she walks in on it and develops a sun-centric religious belief system to deal with her grief. she keeps making increasingly dangerous mistakes at her internship under her manipulative mentor and returns home full of a justified but incredibly misdirected anger that she unleashes on molly, and molly’s friends, darcy and elise, over the next few years, culminating in grievous injury to all of them. she believes herself to be chosen as a divine being and her goal is to get revenge on the ex-mentor who scarred her face and also become an Actual angel with molly so they can meet their parents.

LYRA my best friend

lyra is a career hero following in her brother’s footsteps by day, a masked vigilante doing gritty rescue work by night. she doesn’t want the flashy fights and advertisements of her brother’s career, and instead she’s drawn to disaster work, holding up fallen buildings, pulling people out of fire, the hands on help people need. their parents want her doing magazine spreads and pr interviews, something primarily rescue heroes are notoriously not offered due to the lack of glamour in their work. so she takes things into her own hands in the mean time and does double the work, because anything is worth it for helping real people outside of publicly hunting down individual criminals. and as a bonus, she gets to meetup with this mysterious other vigilante who is really cool (it’s molly).

old man yaoi. it's them. they knew angel fairly well when she was in training because at the time they were working as a hero. since, they've learned of corruption and separated themselves from the industry, working alone as a vigilante figure, though lucille helps them with tech behind the scenes. they come from a big family that they don't feel they can talk to after the death of an estranged brother who almost killed them when they were a child in a drowning, and they still feel the guilt of tearing the family apart, as they feel their family members took sides after the incident. they want to help molly out because she reminds them of angel who they still worry about as they never found out what happened to her. she just disappeared. they live with lucille and rowen and their kid and have a sad old man yaoi self-pity desire to date them and help them parent their kid.

Towards your pro drug stance: I complete agree with you except on public use. It should be decriminalized but there are undeniably certain drugs that are more likely to make an otherwise pleasant and enjoyable person extremely unpredictable and potentially even dangerous, and on the flip side drugs that make it so easy for people to hurt the user while they’re intoxicated. We should have more safe use centers and better education on drugs and usage as a whole. If we begin to solve larger issues like poverty, our poor mental health system, and the failing education system then we can focus on the social destigmatization of all drugs, otherwise it will just be another way for people to justify the awful treatment of addicts and the demographics of people who are more likely to be users.

Additionally, certain drugs like meth, which are suspended in a crystalline structure and vaporized, are incredibly dangerous to inhale even secondhand outside. Meth, once vaporized, sticks to absolutely everything including a passerby. It can stick to your clothes, your hair, and your skin. It’s so dangerous, in fact, that they have to completely tear down houses that have had meth cooked in them even once because of how horribly it sticks inside the walls. That’s not a stigmatization, just an unfortunate truth.

Public use of “hard” drugs could also be very detrimental to children, animals, and disabled people. Accidents happen. That’s okay. But we should be doing everything we possibly can to mitigate risk and make society as a whole safer and kinder towards the most vulnerable members. Public intoxication laws are for the safety of the community and the individual, not just because of the stigma.

Hi, thanks for the reply, i base a lot of my moral beliefs around scientific fact and this really helps me shape my previously morally wrong belief into a belief that fits my moral code fully.

To touch on the point of meth and other long lasting drugs, i didn’t actually know it could cause such bad physical harm so far down the line because of it being able to stick on to and off of surfaces easily, this is a great example of why we need more pro use and harm reduction based drug education because this completely changes my point of view

Relating to your point on the rational decision making impairing symptoms of many drugs, you obviously cannot fully consent to anything on those types of drugs because of the afformentioned impairing of rational descision making, so physical harm isnt something that can be consented to both ways while on drugs and should be dealt with in a legal sense if and when it happens

Additionally, i do believe legally enforced consequences to unconsensual harm should be a thing, however i also believe the current prison system is currently very harmful to any possibility of recovery of harmful behaviours because of corrupt and hypocritical governments that unconsensually harm and dehumanize criminals and that needs to be changed as a whole (examples of the harmful things commonly done in prisons being things like solitary confinement and slave labour in prisons, these things have happened and continue to happen with legal protection in prisons all the time and are normalized and are extremely mentally and/or physically harmful).

For some extra context, My morals and beliefs around commiting any type of harm onto others and/or oneself is that its okay to do and should be accepted legally and/or socially as long as its a well informed and consensual decision made by all participants, (basically the beliefs of full bodily autonomy being a basic right and informed consent being the #1 priority when it comes to inducing any type of harm towards someone else.)

I geuss my point of all this rambling is that in the post i made i meant drugs that do not impair decision making skills and drugs that dont get stuck in materials and stick in materials long enough to cause harm from breathing them in later down the line

For an example of these types of drugs: nicotine (I know the current laws are more chill when it comes to nicotine in most places but still) from what i know it cant cause bodily harm because its particles getting stuck in materials and can only harm you from inhaling the smoke from my knowledge, this goes back to my point of it specifically being specifically public open and well ventilated places.

Additionally, from what i know nicotine doesnt cause any decision making skill impairment, at least not to an extent where you could become violent and harm others

i am personally of the opinion that if you dont want to experience any of the affects of drugs you shouldnt have to experience them. (especially the physically harmful affects, because obviously not everybody wants to have medical issues and wants to potentially die because of them, death is a scary concept for a lot of people because we dont know anything about the afterlife and how it may work and the unknown is a fear that lot of people have)

I hope all of this rambling clarifies what i meant, i often forget important points when sharing my beleifs so ive been trying to always reply with clarification when someone educates me on how my moral code and beliefs may contradict each other!!

Thank you for reading this long ass post, i struggle with making sentences short while still conveying my points in a way that still makes the most sense to everyone, so i appreciate it when someone takes the time out of their day to read my point of view, it makes me feel good because it makes me feel heard in a world that doesnt typically listen to others problematic points of view.

So like incredibly short intro for us three hosts. We would introduce you to other members of the system, but we have 100+, possibly way way more so it's very hard to get intros for everyone when we don't know half the people in the noggin'

So I've been running this blog probably solo for more than a year now, so y'all already know me eheh. My name's Russelia, but call me Russ. I use they/them and flutter/flutterself, and lean very very feminine presenting. I'm the host/co-host, but also function as a main protector for my system, as well as a trauma holder. In headspace, I take the form of a humanoid moth and thus have an obsession with moths - I also have children in headspace whom are varying forms of moths. I'm some form of aroace.

I'm 17 years old but change with the body's age, and I'm taken by another host in a different system <3 I formed ~2020, took over as the primary host around 2021-2022 though was dissociated with our now 'higher up' headmate, and as of recently (July 2023) I gained Jash and Whole as my co-hosts!

Those who knew me as Redd, I was actually blurred with them through a large portion of 2021- April-ish 2023 and believed myself to be them, though they are a different headmate who has too many responsibilities to take the role of host/co-host anymore.

I'm Whole, CCCC fictive and co-host to the system. 22 years old and I'm taken by another headmate. Because of how marriage works, I'm Russ's stepdad, but they compare us to best friends a lot because we knew each other far before I married their dad. I'm pan, I use he/him.

Formed around May this year (2023) and I function as front's protector and soother, though I'm also a 'higher up' as we like to call the role, I have an admin job for the system essentially - manage system and the new formers, layers, stuff like that, I just get to comfort people and sort out their issues to. We work like a well-oiled clock like that, eh? I prefer to stay silently watching but I'm not against putting my opinions and reblogs here and there.

I live for the Norman Ratri theory! Especially because I like to believe that Norman and Adam are related-- this creates a convoluted family tree LOL Think about it~! The Lambda facility was of great importance to Peter during his time as head of the Ratri clan. What would it take for him to think that a Ratri-- someone related to him-- would be the perfect building blocks for creating new children. Perfect children in his perfect system? Did a lady related to the Ratris (by marriage or worse) try to escape the lineage and Peter decided to disown her children in the worst way possible? By throwing one child into the Lambda system and another child to the cattle? Of course he would assume that the Ratri are perfect so if you want to create a new batch of children who would be the building blocks of his new world order-- well I guess use a Ratri, am I right? Which makes it even worse when Adam was considered to be a failure. Peter was probably the one who decided to send Adam to Goldy Pond.

(Continuing the discussion from this post by @emmaspolaroid. Also peep my Norman Ratri tag that will hopefully continue to grow as it's a fun theory to play around with.)

Prefacing this with something I've mentioned in tags before: I remember after initially reading the manga thinking the Norman Ratri theory was adding too much to Norman's deck. He was already special for being a genius capable of 100% tests at four-years-old that stumped kids twice and triple his age, so to then make him even more special by being biologically related to the Ratris in some way seemed like overkill in addition to everything having to do with him taking up the mantle of Minerva and having the conflict with Ayshe that was conveniently sidestepped. (Yes, Emma's origins are never a conflict for her, but with how often lineage is prioritized for men in media, it would leave me mixed how out of the trio, Emma would be the only one with nothing like that causing her some internal strife since Ray's biological relationship with Isabella clearly brought him grief.)

That said, outside the bounds of canon or if canon were expanded upon and tweaked to give each member of the trio an internal conflict of similar weight, I'm also very, very big on the theory lol

Despite being the one to unperson James and order his death before he even turned sixteen, I still have trouble wrapping my head around the idea of Peter knowingly and willingly doing this to a Ratri child on the basis of viewing them as an extension of the clan rather than as individuals, so it's almost like it's a worse reflection on him not being able to restore the honor of this wayward branch of it by "salvaging" the traitor's children and raising them "correctly." He places so much value in being a Ratri and displays such disdain when speaking of the cattle children as food, it's hard to see him sullying the line in any way by condemning a member to the fate of the latter as opposed to just outright killing them, even if said member was an infant. That's still Ratri blood—his blood—that would be going into the farm system, and he would never let anyone as lowly as food have any sort of claim to such a noble and prestigious status.

But maybe James' betrayal really burned him, and while he once wouldn't consider this, now he's more caustic, brash, prone to lashing out, intoxicated on his newly bestowed position as the head of the clan and using it to indulge his more volatile impulses, that he goes through with this idea.

However, I'm more inclined to entertain the idea of another family member taking advantage of their position as a Ratri to have a dalliance with a Sister candidate, as @officersnickers brings up in this post. It's not something Peter would ever approve of, but what's done is done, and importantly there was no explicit denouncement of the clan in this act, which I feel he would take personal offense to. There's nothing he can do to save these children—the one-drop rule thoroughly entrenched in his mind, and their blood is thoroughly tainted—but maybe their Ratri lineage will win out and they'll be able to rise above their pitiful status, so he does keep tabs on both as he approves of them being sent on their separate ways in the system.

Which makes it even worse when Adam was considered to be a failure. Peter was probably the one who decided to send Adam to Goldy Pond.

He probably approved this with a spiteful flourish too, insulted that his theory proved wrong, that Adam wasn't able to live up to whatever arbitrary, narrow standards they set for him to determine his value as a living being.

Hi I go by Reaper. I'm the OG making of this account and thought it was time for us all to do an intro! My pronouns are they/them. I have been in this fandom since sometimes around 12-13. I don't remember the exact entry time. I've experienced some unacceptable behavior from onsite people back then which inspired me to make this account!

My hopes on here is to help those that have also been hurt and let them know they aren't alone. As well as to spread awareness! We are here for you and happy to help in any way we can!

New mod reporting to the team. I go by Vindication and use she/her pronouns. I have been involved in the SCP fandom since 2013 and I do exist on the wiki.

I am a member of a system and believe in those who harm children and vulnerable individuals being brought to justice through proper means such as filing reports to the NCMEC and through community education.

Excited to offer a listening ear to those who need as well as helping to make awareness posts and talk about issues relating to systems and related to disability rights advocacy.

Another new mod joining this crew. I go by Sunflower and use he/it pronouns. I've been in the fandom for only a few years and while it's brought comfort to me, the horrors are deep and we need to shine a light on all the issues with the wiki.

My groomer was the one that brought me back into this fandom and the friends I've made in it helped me escape that situation, just a sign that things do get better, no matter how far away the sun may seem.

IDW is the continuity in which these characters are based off of, but I don't believe that the Ruination Corps. is so heavily tied to it that they couldn't be in other continuities as well.

If you would like, you could always mix in more than one character into an ask. For example, how one character would respond to a question for another character. You could also end up having two interacting depending on what you send. Or not! It's up to you what you want to ask my characters lol

that’s the thing tho. you take all these precautions to prevent crackdowns from outside parties… and then nothing to prevent censorship from within. tiff isn’t gonna be an isolated incident. antis already invaded ao3 and now they’re gonna feel enboldened to try and push until they have a majority in the board. and then what?

no group is immune to outside influence and it is literally impossible to keep "outside parties" away when they are a part of the group. like it or not (and i know i don't) antis are members of fandom. if they wanna organize big events, go to cons, volunteer at otw, we can not stop them from doing that it's normal participation in fandom.

i don't know what you mean by "invaded" you mean they're using ao3? they're posting fics and leaving comments and such? bc if you mean they're working as individual volunteers so their duties are p specific and have no power to change things. if someone's misusing volunteer status to harass ppl they can be reported like a normal user, and i suspect something like that would them getting a ban

in order to be eligible for board you need to, among other things:

be 18

be a paying member of OTW for at least 8 weeks prior to election

have served as a volunteer for at least 9 of the 12 months leading up to elections

so yea not a lot of hardcore teenage antis are going to be holding board positions anytime soon. that's not including that board members are also working on a 100% volunteer basis, so it's basically taking on a second job

even if next year the entire board is replaced w antis they won't be able to wave their hands and change the site(s) bc the board is only responsible for supervising the various committees. so even a full anti board would need to get all of legal, all of design and tech, all of documentation, all of fiance, all of abuse, all of systems, all of Fanlore, all of Open Doors, all of the tag wranglers, all of everyone else on their side, bc everything in the org is volunteer. if something like that were to happen how many ppl do you think would just quit? we already know legal considers anti goals to be an impossible task to achieve, so i feel confidant in saying that if a bunch of already stretched thin pro bono lawyers are pushed to do something they don't believe in they will Just Leave. how many antis are both qualified and care This Much to replace what would be at least half the site making a mass exodus?

i honestly don't know what you want me to say. like. do you care this much abt other major fandom issues? the ethics of rpf? that's been debated for literal decades, does ao3 need to ban anyone, such as myself, who is personally against rpf? do "chatfics" counts as fics? there are a lot of ppl who say they don't! there's also a split on whether or not copypasting rp logs is spam, so do we need to take a hard-line stance on that? what abt monetized works? bc that includes personal commissions, charity commissions, any and all links to someones Ko-Fi or "here's how to support me!" links. if you can so much i hope you're reporting every single fic and author you see who has ever talked abt money on site bc they're against ToS and could get the org in legal trouble. should the archive allow proper image hosting for fanarts or maybe should the org make a dedicated site for fanart? bc there are a lot of ppl think so

Task 2/3 SDL- Planning

Group- Studio 42

2.1 Work out what tasks need to be done. Planning, researching, designing, collating content etc.

2.2 Decide how you will distribute the work, assign work to members of the team (assigning will be done in our teams channel).

2.3 Look at timings and set a schedule for each task to be completed.

2.4 Compile all this information in a word doc or excel spreadsheet and add it to your teams channel.

2.5 Tag David and Mark in your channel when this is completed.

2.6 Contact and communicate with missing group members

Based on the deliverables of our formative + ‘tasks’

(2.1) 18 profiles of design studios that specialise in branding in NZ.

(2.2) This can be done by dividing the needed profiles amongst group members. As our SDL asks for this week, we are to research 4 profiles each to contribute to this.

(2.3) Personally, I will be aiming to complete my portion of research before our next class back together (Monday 25th July) so we can discuss our findings and make our final 18 profile selections.

(2.1) Research insights to target market that inform the identity and design system proposals for the directory

(2.2) I think each group member individually OR half the group should collect information towards this. I believe it is very important for every group member to have an understanding of our target audience and not miss out on gaining this knowledge and perspective as it will help us work parallel to one another. It is very likely we will all have different design styles and ways of approaching a project like this, so by all understanding what we’re designing for, it will hopefully push us in the same direction and help the collaborative process.

(2.3) I think this step should completed at least before working on the design system and visual aspects of this project. Without knowledge of who we are designing for, are designs will not be properly informed. It would also be good to know a bit about the profiles that will be included in the directory, so completing this step either during Monday’s class or between Monday and Thursday’s class could be a good time slot so we have class on Thursday to discuss our findings and create a design system that is fully informed.

(2.1) Start up publishing brand identity/logo/marque/icon display as a title/ masthead/ year lock up

(2.2) With the SDL of this week including “creating an identifier”, each group member should have some ideas to bring to class on Monday towards our final decision. This will give us a good range of ideas to choose from. Then, we could have a select number of members complete the refining and finalising process while other parts of the project are worked on by the rest of the group.

(2.3) Since being included in the SDL for this week, we should all have attempted drafts before Monday’s class. Refining and finalising could be completed anywhere in the timeline of this project as the publishing brand identity does not impact the directory design, therefore we could focus on the directory and come back to our own brand identity, or complete this process alongside working on the directory where the group divides to complete more work.

(2.1) Grid and typographic choices (headline/body copy)

(2.2) This work towards the physical directory itself could be completed alongside the publishing brand identity work. Half of the group could go through the refining process and work towards a final for our publishing brand identity while the other half work on this portion of the project.

(2.2) I suggest that those not writing example copy writing could put together an example section each or so, cross referencing with one another and checking with the group regularly on direction choice. A group member could compile all the work onto slides in Indesign.

(2.3) These two tasks are also towards the end of the project when all the work is ready to be executed and compiled for presenting. The weekend of week 2/ early week 3 could be a good time to attempt this to try avoid last minute work towards the deadline.

ah yes, my acquaintance who was """wrongfully convicted""" of first-degree m*rder lmao. so:

this Individual™ was born to an affluent family, and as aforementioned, many of their family members are quite powerful in political circles (e.g. their mother being a federal judge)

in their early 20s, as a college undergraduate (with a prodigious gun collection i might add), the Individual™ developed a bitter interpersonal rivalry with a classmate over a shared romantic prospect. the animosity between the Individual™ and their classmate grew so tense that it ensued in several heated spats and some very credible threats of violence from the former to the latter — including incidents that involved stalking and knives. moreover, as a result of the Individual™'s words and actions, the classmate repeatedly expressed worries over their own safety to a number of friends.

all of this culminated in said classmate being chased down and shot dead in the street, in broad daylight, with a gun matching a model owned by the Individual™. what's more, extensive physical evidence, eyewitness reports, and a well-established timeline very unambiguously pointed to the Individual™ being the culprit. consequently, they were brought in for questioning, arrested, charged with first-degree murder, placed on trial after having entered a 'not guilty' plea, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison.

whilst serving their sentence, this Individual™ hired and assembled a high-powered team of prominent lawyers (including eric holder, who was the attorney general of the united states from 2009-15) in order to launch an appeal, which failed in lower courts but ultimately made it to the state's supreme court. on the most dubious and reachiest of technicalities alleging a lack of due diligence by the defense attorney at the original trial, the state supreme court granted the appeal; note that this was a split decision, and the dissenting justices wrote an absolutely scathing rebuttal. a retrial was then ordered, which is all well and fine.

was the result of the retrial the conviction being thrown out or an official exoneration? nope. not even close. instead, the Individual™ entered an alford plea (i.e. a guilty plea in which the defendant doesn't admit to a crime and maintains their own innocence, but acknowledges that the evidence presented is strong enough to persuade a judge/jury to find the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt). as a result of this plea, the Individual™ gets re-sentenced to time served and is released from prison after having served eleven years, which again, is all well and fine.

as someone who's aware of how deeply flawed the criminal justice system and carceral logics in this country are, and who genuinely believes in rehabilitation, i can make peace with much of the above (with a healthy dose of side-eye). and honestly, after what i'm sure was a difficult and traumatic eleven years in prison, i really do find it admirable that this Individual™ took the opportunity to go back to college, and that they've undeniably done a whole lot of good for their community in recent years. yes, practically all of this was only possible due to their family's connections and influence in academic & political circles, but it truly does seem like they've made the most of their opportunities and that their work in the nonprofit and public sector has exerted a positive impact since their release.

what really grinds my gears, however, is the fact that this Individual™ was able to go on an entire image-whitewashing media tour, with major news outlets (wapo and nbc among them) writing about how they were 'wrongfully convicted' and 'exonerated'. furthermore, it's very clear from all of the podcasts they were invited to speak on that this is a narrative that they were intentionally pushing themselves.

like, as much as i believe people can change for the better even after doing horrific things, i also care very deeply about accountability and there has been absolutely zero of that here. there is an utterly damning body of evidence, none of which had ever been placed into question even during the retrial, that this Individual™ killed someone in cold blood. as in, they deliberately and violently ended another human being’s life. yet they have elected to leverage their affluence and connections to completely misrepresent their entire situation as a case of wrongful conviction/exoneration, and they shamelessly co-opted leftist talking points about criminal justice reform in order to do so. i respect the work they're doing now, but none of this entitled and accountability-denying behavior sits right with me lmao. but congrats on lying your way to a full scholarship at oxford university ig

Crossing Borders: Philippine Activist Theater and Martial Law

The art of theater has long been flourishing in the Philippines as varied as the cultural traditions and the historical influences that shaped it through the centuries with local and international influences (Theater, 2014). Through theater, Filipino activists express their vision for a better world and to put the plight of the oppressed front and center during times of political struggle.

Prejudice as one of the problems seen in the article

For a long period of time, the Philippine theater served as a tool to open the eyes of every Filipino to the oppression that they experienced. It served as a weapon to subtly confront issues and deliver messages to the people without directly implying the problems. Even the colonial rule of the three countries did not hinder its power to portray national problems. The article of Bonifacio P. Iligan explained how the Philippine activist's theater crossed different borders to change the oppressive and exploitative system of the government, and how its members experienced red-tagging just to stop them from performing. Upon reading the article, I realized how rampant prejudice was during the time of Martial Law, especially to the people who were a part of an activist theater group because they were the ones who were taking a step to enlighten the people to reject and fight the dictatorship which the government found alarming. To stop the people, the government labeled them as "non-theater and plain propaganda" (Iligan, 2010) and made its way to arrest, imprison, and kill those people. However, it never stopped them from doing theater acts, instead, they strengthened more plays to exhibit oppression.

The Past: The Activist Theater

People usually see plays or theaters as a form of entertainment. In reality though, it is used to express and voice out oppression and justice—and that is the activist theater. It was a theater play that revolved around social issues during that time. Playwrights and actors wrote and acted about the lives of the masses, those of the ordinary. In the article by Bonifacio P. Ilagan, it was stated that they lived with them to directly learn more of them. I believe this is how the activist theater really depicted the lives of the ordinary Filipinos, because of them being maka-masa. Activists used theater to show the Filipinos what is currently happening, especially after the declaration of martial law. Despite being watched by the government and the fact that the AFP is tasked to arrest those in the opposition, the activists still made a way to continue voicing out through theater by subtly instilling religious dramas and folk rituals with their criticisms of the then dictatorship.

Through the article, it can be known and understood that fighting for what is right, justice, and the truth may be difficult and there will be a lot of borders that need to be crossed, but it is not impossible to cross them. And the activists proved it, even with a lot of difficulties faced, activists being arrested, imprisoned, tortured, raped, and killed, they still fought using theater. Just like the last sentence in Bonifacio P. Iligan’s article, “They had shown that to activists of the people’s revolutionary theater, no border, not martial law, not even the ultimate personal sacrifice, seemed impossible to cross.”

The Present: Activist Theater's Importance and Impact

Many individuals perceive theatrical arts as boring, but it is art, expression, and life for others. Bonifacio P. Ilagan's article demonstrates how theater arts influence people's values and beliefs. It has a significant impact on seeing the world you are in, whether you are a performer or a member of the audience. It does not only educates the audience—it also creates connection with them.As I read it, I understand how essential theater arts, particularly activist theater, are. It made us consider that theater is not made up of writers creating imaginary stories to present a piece that is full of imagination yet difficult to see in real life. The author paints a vivid picture of how real-life problems influence theater performances. The activist theater is not a show for a cause but a presentation to communicate information to the masses. In light of the events depicted in the article, the activist theater set out to touch everyone's life, speak the truth, and inform the public to fight for what is right. Activists did not sit back and relax as incidences of detention, red-tagging, and even murder proliferated amid the development of martial law. They still intended to make people aware of it by performing it frequently in places where people congregate. As a result, reading this now has a different impact on us as activist theater created a historic moment for their rights and freedom from dictatorship rule. Still, on the other hand, dread, shame, and anger erupt in me as the dictatorial family that the article tells us about rules again in the present time.

The Future: Will Activist Theater change?

Cultural historian Doreen G. Fernandez once wrote, “Philippine theater has never hesitated to go to war,” (Datlangin, 2020). Since then, Filipinos have used the stage to speak for those who are voiceless, to speak for those who are oppressed, to express the desire for a better country and governance. I see the activist theater as a very powerful and influential tool in fighting for justice, freedom, and oppression. And I strongly believe that if in the future another oppression comes (which I do not hope for to happen), the activist theater will still and continue to be the voice for the voiceless and fight for the rights of every Filipino. Activist theater will always fight for the truth, for what is right, and for the Filipinos.

Redefining the Stage

Protest theater has becoming many things in today’s world and has gone a long way rooting through the colonial years and Martial Law. These pioneering activist thesians, redefining the stage and amplifying the voice of the voiceless in the stage of the nation proved “no border, not martial law, not even the ultimate personal sacrifice, seemed impossible to cross.” At the end of the day, one thing it will always remain is a people’s art-form – one that innately and inherently draws from the society it subsists in.
