t00nyah explaining project moon without actually explaining project moon
after posting lcb trigger warning i wanted to do this
or
me explaining project moon in the shortest way possible except its goofy af bc im eepy and lazy but im in a desperately talkative mood (i post mostly about limbus company since it came out cmon)
what the fuck is projmoon:
project moon is the coolest ever indie game development team we love them; they've made three games so far, also have an unfinished novel, a...idk, just another novel that was initially a comic but im a hater (im sorry(not)), and another comic
they've been doing it for like 7 years almost and still have no idea what optimization is but its okay we love them
there's a lot of killing and just amoral guys in general who can and will kill thousands. its THE 'your meow meow killed thousands of people' 'and they looked good doing it!' universe. everyone is fucked up there guys. but UMMM thats kinda the appeal
so the games! we all here are gamerzzz!
LC
it all started 6 years ago, when lobotomy corporation released in early access and my gf was like hey look what i found
lobotomy corp is a game where you're a manager in a big company, L corp, and you have to get your guys, employees(lucky ones who got the job) to work with abnormalities(fucked up creatures) so they would generate enkephalin, a big energy resource
except your guys will probably die when you're already so attached to them so you just restart the day each time this happens
theres like a maaassive plot, it is the beginning of literally everything, like some stuff still haunts us in limbus company (looking at a particular individual) and there are more characters that you'll fucking love(sephirahs) and then learn their fucked up story (and then learn your fucked up story and not be happy about it)
ah yes while im on it theres no actual self incert in project moon games im sorry but every character IS a character
gameplay-wise you just have to organize your guys, give them equipment, assign them to a job, make them suffer and struggle to suppress abnormalities if they try to make a mess(kill everyone) and do hard tasks your besties make you do
LoR
later, in like 2018 i think, they almost immediately after full release of LC announced a sequel, library of ruina
library of ruina is a game that continues the story(duh) and i can't tell you much about it without spoiling lob corp too, but in this one you have to USE BRAIN like A LOT because its a STRATEGY CARD GAME
in this one you dont even have a character you play as, you just follow the characters' on their journey. but dw! you'll get your own customizable guys to adore here too!
basically in this game the characters from LC and your guys are called librarians and you have to greet guests of the library, that were specifically invited there and /tp-ed, basically fighting them. every battle has its own story and eventually it branches off into four arcs and oh gott i love library of ruina a'right you meet characters for like one story and then have to fight them knowing their issues and how life fucked them over enough to get there</3
gameplay-wise you build cool decks from cards of those you've killed for your guys, pick guys for fight and then pick cards. simple. i think. not so simple in game but i simplified it
there's also a lot of amazing lore drops, bc in LC we were kinda isolated and focused on the corporation, but in LoR? we get to see all kinda of people of The City, we learn about The City, we learn about factions and all, we get all the lore we missed by being stuck in that manager chair
LCB
okay and now we're here. limbus my fucking company.
limbus company was, again, announced almost immediately after LoR's full release(PM are CRAZY), and released february 27 of this year, and already has more story in word count than lor does or so i've heard...
limbus company is pm's first mobile game(but dw there is a steam release if you're more of a pc person or your phone will explode if you try to install it(and it will)) and their first...(behold) gacha game. yep. but no dont get scared it actually has the best gacha system ever known to men
they've also tried to make it enjoyable without getting into previous games but to me it doesnt feel right i dunno i feel like it's just not that cool without knowing the context and going insane screaming at carmen or connecting the dots, also like the events of LCB are all connected to LC and LoR, so ummm if you try to get into limbus without at least learning what the other games contain be ready i'll personally explode you
in this game you basically play as dante(they/them for the sake of mysteriousness of 'who TF they are') and you have 12 deranged guys named the sinners who are ALL BASED OFF FUCKING CLASSIC LITERATURE did you fucking know pm are fucking literacy nerds and cant have a game without book references without exploding??? well they are.
so the characters (IN CASE YOU'RE INTERESTED) are:
1. gregor (metamorphosis, franz kafka)
2. rodion (crime and punishment, fyodor dostoyevsky)
3. (emil) sinclair (demian, hermann hesse)
4. yi sang (the wings, yi sang (kim hae-gyeong))
5. ishmael (moby dick, herman melville)
6. heathcliff (wuthering heights, emily bronte)
7. don quixote (don quixote, miguel de cervantes)
8. hong lu (dream of the red chamber, cao xueqin)
9. ryoshu (hell screen, ryunosuke akutagawa)
10. meursault (the stranger, albert camus)
11. outis (the odyssey, homer)
12. faust (faust, johann wolfgang von goethe)
also don't forget dante is based on the divine comedy by dante alighieri!
also dante DOESNT FUCKING KNOW SHIT. faust seems to know all shit and never tell dante.
i mentioned it being a gacha game. so like. you dont pull characters. instead you pull the initial deranged guys' alternative versions where they end up on another job like cult leader or a terrorist idk
the best part? you dont necessarily have to get them from gacha in most cases, you can get special currency, ego shards, to get whatever you want separately. also pm added ideality that you get from unfortunate pulls that you can spend on the special identity from the banner. but tbh i think its way easier to get the shards needed than pull that much, not really worth it
gameplay-wise? well. you have to basically just choose your guys' identities(those alt versions, they use them in fights to be stronger), choose their skills, a little similar to ruina (except TBH lcb lets you fuck around and put it on auto until it doesnt really work out (please dont autoplay with r corp ishmael or at least check what they're doing you silly goop they might do friendly fire if you're stupid enough)). the game consists of cantos, chapters that tell you a separate story of a sinner(in the order i gave earlier, not everyone knows that), that have story-episodes(cool ones), story-and-fight-then-episodes(epic ones), and sometimes just-fight-episodes(who the fuck thought those are a good idea?). and in the end of a canto there's always a dungeon. honestly, first two cantos are easy enough to just learn basics yourself, im rambling at this point
there's also hellish grind options and paid stuff like battle pass with the coolest perks ever
also LoR and LCB have mili songs, which is fucking cool, they're such bangers. no no projmoon games' ost in general. just fuckign bangers my guys and i mean it.
well that was fun and games. like i mentioned theres also:
Distortion Detective
im such a fucking fan of this unfinished novel, im so upset they abandoned it </3 pm did say they're probably going to rework it as a game or smth later but in my opinion it just loses its charm if its not a novel
distortion detective ... i cant explain it without spoilers to the games but its basically about moses, the distortion detective, who solves distortions which are like uhhmmm... people turning into some funky shit(that expresses their feelings). and she has a parthner named ezra. they're both poor traumatized women. and stuff happens. thats all i can say without spoiling everything. you learn a lot about the distortion phenomenon from moses' perspective.
WonderLab
wonderlab is a comic made by artist mimi, that follows taii, rose and catt. its about another lobotomy corp branch that actually introduces us to the concept of abnormality aberrations (slightly similar but different abnormalities like we have a little red riding hooded mercenary's(do you remember me mentioning pm being literacy nerds?) team fortress blue team version or whatever) that is used in limbus quite a lot so we old people from LC can be like 'heehehehe this is like like snow white's apple's aberration, so funny, reminds me of good ol' days...'
Leviathan
my main enemy. initially it was a comic, but i think they had to stop working with the artist for some reason and continue it as a novel instead.
issue?
i didnt read it. im so sorry i failed you. but i cant. first vergilius, main character, is ugly AS FUCK and he's STUPID i hate his guts. BUT OH DEAR LORD HE APPEARS IN LIMBUS COMPANY AND I HATE HIM EVEN MORE. AND NOT JUST APPEARS, HE'S THE GUIDE OF THE BUS, HE'S KINDA ALWAYS THERE. I HATE HIS GUTS. oh hey lap-- charon, no, you're good, you're amazing, vroom-vroom, yes, right, you're so right.
i'm pretty sure it has A LOT of important context for some stuff in LCB but i just CAN'T MAKE MYSELF TOUCH IT. please read leviathan for me.
i'm sorry it turned into a looong ramble but here's t00nyah's awful brief guide to project moon. in case you want to know about world-building or the story in particular...i'm always here to dm me. please do. i really love telling people about project moon. there's just a lot to unpack.
edit. okay apparently it was easy to misinterpret my leviathan commentary so im putting this here for the sake of clearing the confusions for future!! tl;dr: i know it wasn't continued as a comic for REASONS, it's OBVIOUS!! and yes, leviathan is important, i just can't make myself read it therefore don't have enough knowledge to write about it(cool idea: write your own post about leviathan if you're seeing this and are enthusiastic about it! i just won't.), i still don't like vergilius, it's just a me-thing. DO read leviathan if you're interested</3
edit2. after thinking for a while, decided to add this just in case: i was given a summary of leviathan! well. it IS something. (opinion on vergilius hasn't changed much sorry not sorry, still a me-thing.) but yeah 👍 all good 👍 still not liking it much, mayhaps because i couldn't read it myself, but. it can be found here in the comment section.

how do you think sweden is as a parent? any headcanons?
It's canon Sweden kind of spoils his kids quite a lot (with that I mainly mean Sealand and Ladonia, but to a degree this also includes Iceland). Not really spoiled in a bad way though? At any rate Sweden pays a lot of attention to his kids, constantly defends Iceland against Nor's and Den's teasing, and even pretends to lose wars against Ladonia. It's sweet, and I figure it's worth mentioning.
Tumblr media
As far as headcanons go, this also means I headcanon Sweden as a pretty chill parent in general. As long as they don't endanger/hurt themselves or others, he allows them to do a pretty much what they want (within reason) - but he's still able to put his foot down if he thinks something is going too far.
With that said, if they want a tree house to hold their micronation meetings in? Then you'll be damn sure he's going to build a gigantic treehouse for them. If they're hungry they can usually just go and eat something from the kitchen - though Sweden likely has some rules about what they eat and when.
(Example: If dinner will be ready in 30 minutes they're probably allowed to eat a quick fruit like a banana, but not stuff themselves full on sandwiches. Sweden would probably also tell them to avoid sugary stuff like candy until after dinner, but as long as they don't overdo stuff he wouldn't be too strict on which days they decide to eat their candy).
Tumblr media
For Sealand specifically I reckon Sweden & England have shared custody, and as a result Sealand technically has several rooms. (One in each house). To avoid Sealand having to choose between them on holidays they also make sure to celebrate major stuff together or alternate the days between them.
For an example Sealand's birthday is celebrated with everyone together. Meanwhile Sealand celebrates Christmas with the Nordics on the 23-24/12, then goes to that big party America is said to have (which probably is on the 25th), and then Sealand celebrates "Boxing Day" (26/12) with the "eyebrow family", NA-brothers and France.
They'd also have things they celebrate on their own, such as Sealand being with the "eyebrow family" to celebrate things like St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day and Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes). Then Sealand would be with Sweden and the Nordics to celebrate things like the June birthdays (Ladonia/Den/Swe), Midsummer and Lucia. Just to mention a few examples.
I'd say Sweden and England try to keep the days where Sealand spend his time time pretty even, but they also don't stand and count every minute to make it "fair". One year Sealand might spend a few days/weeks more with Sweden, and another year Sealand might be a little more with England. Living costs are similarly divided. For an example I imagine England was the one who bought Sealand a mobile phone when it became more necessary, but Sweden was the one who bought Sealand a tablet.
Sealand strikes me more as a boy longing for adventures. Sure, he enjoys to sit down and play games/watch TV from time to time, but he's also boy with endless energy. I can imagine him and Sweden doing stuff like going on hikes, building rafts to sail on the local lake - etc - as quality time when they're alone together. Sealand strikes me as someone who if they don't get to DO enough stuff in a day to run off some energy he'll have a hard time falling asleep in the evening.
Tumblr media
Now, Ladonia spends pretty much all his time living with Sweden unless he's having a sleepover with a friend or one of his many uncles. As a micronation who nowadays mostly functions as an internet nation, Ladonia has a lot of the latest technology available to him (through Sweden) since he's also more dependent on them.
Because of this Sweden obviously also make sure the house their family lives in has excellent internet connection. Though Ladonia mainly uses his own laptop while moving/traveling around, I headcanon Ladonia also has a robust PC inside his bedroom ("home base" in a sense) and a back-up laptop that he SOMETIMES let's Sealand borrow if they want to play games together.
(At some point Sealand got to choose between getting a computer, laptop or a tablet from Sweden. He chose a tablet).
I've mentioned in earlier posts that I headcanon Ladonia as literally having been born looking like a newborn baby, and as a result of that I think Sweden is/was very protective of him. Obviously Sweden is also protective of Sealand, but it's on a much higher level for Ladonia after Sweden spent YEARS not sure if Ladonia would even survive or how much "nation" Ladonia was since he grew at roughly the same speed as a human for the first 3-5 years of his life. It wasn't until Ladonia's aging slowed down a bit that Sweden could start to breathe easier.
Ladonia also has a big canon interest in Pokémon, so it wouldn't surprise me if he has most of the consoles and Pokémon games. Heck, some of the Quality Time stuff Ladonia and Sweden do together alone is likely a lot of video game playing, and they might even go watch tournaments and regionals being played. Sweden likely even ask Japan for favours to get tickets for the World Championships. I reckon Ladonia would enjoy amusement parks too, so that's another one of the few things Sweden can use to "get Ladonia away from the screens" for a few hours if Ladonia isn't having friends over. xD
Tumblr media
Originally I also wanted to write about Sweden and Iceland's relationship as a bonus, but this post is getting really long and I've already done a few posts with them before, so I think I will end here for now. xD
Thanks for the ask, and hope you enjoy this!

Love and Deepspace PC tutorial
Not sure if anyone wants to play this on their PC but I'll drop a basic tutorial anyways (please don't repost this on twitter or any other platforms ty)
Tumblr media
Things to know before we start:
It's only available in Chinese
HOWEVER you can switch the voices to English, so they will speak to you in English, but the interface language will still be in Chinese
Your PC will need to be able to enable Virtualization Technology (VT) (and maybe at least 8GB RAM so it can run the game smoothly)
Did I mention it's in Chinese? Yeah, it's in Chinese
Still wanna do this? Come on board ↓
Step 1
Download the .exe file on the official site and install it
Tumblr media
https://deepspace.papegames.com/
The .exe is essentially an emulator with the game attached to it. You can later then use the store in the emulator to download all sorts of other games too, such as Tears of Themis, Light and Night etc...they are all officially licensed
Step 2
Once you run the game, it should come up with a QR code which will direct you to a page on the Mumu emulator site instructing you on how to enable VT based on the PC you have
Tumblr media
I don't have a screenshot because I've already enabled it
If you can make sense of the instructions, great! The operating menus will be in English anyways
Tumblr media
However if none of this makes sense to you, find a tutorial on google/youtube for your PC type, try looking up "how to enable virtualization in bios"
Step 3
Once all the VT is sorted it's pretty simple, log in and start the game
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 4
Once you get to the starting page, it probably looks identical to the English version
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Change the language if you wanna hear them speak English
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
───── ⑅ ♡ ⑅ ─────
Extras
Press F11 to go full screen mode
Tumblr media
It will automatically go landscape in battle mode. Control with wasd keys and mouse, or connect a controller to it. (I've tried with PS4 controller and it works, but only the joysticks because I haven't figured it out myself how to assign buttons lol)
If you're playing on a laptop or a monitor that can be turned vertical, you can use this function to turn the game window vertically
Tumblr media
To experience the maximum screen space, you can set your emulator to the iPad dimensions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Use the same height and width in the screenshot above
This should be enough to get you started, the VT bit might be a little tricky and scary since you do not need to access BIOS in normal day to day use. The rest of the menus, if you know it in English by heart it shouldn't be difficult to navigate, just fiddly. I supposed you can take some screenshots of the mobile ver and have it on hand when you need to navigate it on the PC.
───── ⑅ ♡ ⑅ ─────
If anyone has any questions regrading setting it up etc... feel free to drop me an ask with an image (◕‿◕✿)

Hello!!
I really loved the characters, especially Jedrek, things involving murder really intrigue me (in a healthy way, of course), and for some reason his route with Oliver is catching my attention, I'm quite curious as to what will emerge.
So, I wanted to ask a little question about the game, but I don't know if this question has already been asked or not (sorry if that was the case 😅😓).
I wanted to know if the game has already been released? And on what type of platform was/will it be released?
Bye!! Remember to take care of yourself and drink water!!
{Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes, English is not my native language}
Hello!! Hi!! Hey!!
Thank you so much, I'm so happy you like my villainous kids!! Especially my trash gremlin! It's fun exploring darker subjects like m0rder through fiction, a lot of the characters have some element of it in their routes, but Il and Jed definitely take it further 😂😅 I also love Oliver so I can't wait for you to meet him, he is such a dork, and the dynamic between hyper fun Jed and chill relaxed go with the flow Oliver is so interesting to explore! I'll be so interested in seeing how people play it and the type of dynamic they end up with!
Tumblr media
I shall stop rambling and get to your question haha!
The game has not been released just yet! It's still in development and my goal is to try and have the prologue done (probably without voice acting at that point) by the end of the year. Though I'm thinking of opening a ko-fi/patreon tier for those who want to play a rougher, unfinished version earlier. I did want to have a demo released already, but I decided to add a lot of elements so that I could make the type of game I want to play, so it's bigger than initially scoped for and so is taking a little longer but I hope people feel it was worth the wait when I release it!!
As for where it will be released my aim is to release it on steam and itch.io for pc and mac first, and then if I can figure out the code quick enough, I also want to release it for mobile (which would be downloaded through itch.io), it'll definitely get released for mobile but time frames are a bit sketchier for that one!
Thank you so much for your question! I love receiving them and it was the best thing to wake up to 😊 I also have my bottle of water right here as I write Jeds second prologue scene! Make sure to drink water too and take care!
(Also your English was immaculate!!)

10 Game Recommendations
Bonjour~ As someone who has a lot of free time, I like to populate that time with various activities: reading, crafts, watching TV, language learning (mainly Duolingo) and playing games. Whilst I mainly like mystery/puzzle games, there are other genres I get involved in so hopefully this list will be varied enough!
Tumblr media
Nancy Drew Her Interactive
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Point and Click Mystery 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: Join teenage sleuth Nancy Drew in various mysteries by exploring various environments, finding clues and interviewing suspects. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series - my favourites are Ghost of Thornton Hall, Blackmoor Manor and Sea of Darkness 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Offline 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Varies on each game, most games you can choose "Junior" (easy) or "Senior" (hard) Detective, but it's common and acceptable to use online walkthroughs if you get stuck. There are also hint systems within the games. 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): PC, a couple are on the Wii, Mobile and DS but PC is a vastly superior experience. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 10/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: This is my favourite game series and a special interest of mine since I was 8. It has wonderful music, well thought out environments and an atmosphere that always gives me happiness. I own every game available on Steam and usually replay all of them every year!
Tumblr media
League of Legends Riot Games
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: MOBA 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: It features a team-based competitive game mode based on strategy and outplaying opponents. Players work with their team to break the enemy Nexus before the enemy team breaks theirs. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series - League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra (Card game) Wild Rift. 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Both (predominantly online but there are AI modes, LOR has offline modes) 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Pretty hard, it takes people a while to get it properly and to be honest is quite hard to get into if you don't have anyone to learn with/help you learn. 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): PC, Mobile 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 7/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: I, like most people, have a difficult relationship with LOL. Whilst I generally enjoy the game, I like a lot of the skins and the music + Arcane are amazing, the game itself is quite hard (the only MOBA I have ever played) and the community is kinda awful. You are almost guaranteed to experience toxicity every single game, regardless of the mode, and even if you are in Blind mode (you must reach Level 10 for Draft where you choose your role and Level 30 for Ranked), and are clearly new, you will likely be with people who already play the game but are on new accounts (called Smurfs). You can mute people (best method is typing /mute all in the chat) but it's annoying when you have to deal with it rather than people just be civil. If you do get a team that are nice, then great! The game is fun! Unfortunately, I really do exercise caution with this game, as I have known absolutely no one who has played without quitting or taking breaks (including myself).
Tumblr media
What Remains of Edith Finch Giant Sparrow
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Exploration Narrative (some describe it as a horror game with no jumpscares (bar 2)) 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: You play as Edith Finch revisiting her old family home - you explore the house and the surrounding area and read the old stories written by the elder of the family. You try to uncover the "family curse" before time runs out (figuratively, you can spend as long as you'd like on the game, there is no actual time limit). 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Single game (there is a parallel game if you want to continue the vibe) 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Offline 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Easy, no prior experience required 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): PS4, PS5, Switch, XBOX One, XBOX Series X + S, iOs, PC (what I played it on) 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 10/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: Whilst Nancy Drew is my favourite series, What Remains of Edith Finch (WREF) is hands down my favourite game of all time. It is, admittedly, very very depressing, and I think if you're not feeling too great mentally it isn't a good idea to play. I first played it at a time where I was doing okay, so now when I revisit it (regardless of mood) it brings comfort. Because of the previously reinforced comfort, if I'm not in a good mood and I play it, it makes me feel very creative. The way the game works honestly feels like therapy, how every story is different. I don't think I'll ever find another game like it, and that is why it is so precious to me.
Tumblr media
Animal Crossing Nintendo
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Life/Social/Farming Sim 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: You play as a human visiting a land of talking animals! Help rejuvenate the community, make friends and have your dream house. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series, most recent is Animal Crossing: New Horizons (NH) 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Both, you primarily play offline but it has online features and you can play with up to 8 others in NH 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Easy, very chill 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): depends on the game but includes Gamecube, DS, 3DS, Wii, Nintendo Switch 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 9/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: Animal Crossing has been a consistent series throughout my life and is a very good comfort game. I've never tried Stardew Valley as I don't particularly like the farming elements of the game, so AC is better for my tastes. Whilst I do love the series, it isn't a 10 because I, and many people, find you can only play in motivation spikes. It generally means means you'll play for a month straight then take 6 months off. It's not exactly a problem, just means if you're looking for a consistent gaming experience, you may experience AC burnout!
Tumblr media
The Room Fireproof Studios
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Mystery/Puzzle Solving 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: You find yourself in front of a box on a table. You must open it and discover the history of secrets inside. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series, most recent game is The Room VR: Dark Matter 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Offline 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Medium-Hard, has hint systems but can sometimes be very difficult and require looking at a walkthrough 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): iOS, Android, PC, Nintendo Switch 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 9/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: The Room, of which I first played the mobile versions, is one of the most beautiful mobile games I have ever seen. I don't know how Fireproof managed to make the graphics so amazing, but they did! I love puzzle games, and I wish I could actually have a box to solve puzzles from. That being said, the paranormal elements aren't something I'd like to have to experience in real life! Only isn't a 10 because I don't have VR headset so I can't play the latest game and that makes me sad.
Tumblr media
Assassin's Creed Ubisoft
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Stealth Action Historical / Open World RPG 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: The fight between the Assassins and the Templars has spanned across history, and each game allows you to play as someone on either side in a period of historical significance. There is combat, stealth, economy and a whole lot more. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series, my favourites are AC2, AC4 and AC Syndicate (as I am from the UK) 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Both, primarily offline but online multiplayer is available in most games (if Ubisoft hasn't shut down the servers) 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Varied, they usually begin pretty easy but get harder as you go along, AC2 I found I could mash buttons and beat anyone :) 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): Pretty much every platform, I have played on XBOX 360, PC and Nintendo Switch 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 10/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: I love this series. I love history, first of all, so the prospect of getting to play in various time periods is incredibly appealing! I've given a 10/10 because, even though I don't think every game is a 10/10, the amount of fun I had in the 5 games I've completed is enough to pull up the ones I don't like. Because of the (expected) quality of each game, some aren't as great (e.g. Unity had one of the most infamous bad launches in gaming history and I still can't play it properly due to bugs and poor user interface) but some are amazing. I personally think AC2 is the best one to start with, but fair warning: you will fall in love with Ezio.

The Forest Endnight Games
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Survival Horror 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: In this first person game you, Eric Leblanc, must survive The Forest after having already survived a plane crash. Either plan an escape or go deeper into The Forest to find your son Timmy. The question is: how deep can you go? 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Both 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Medium-Hard 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): PS4, PC 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 9/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: If you play it right, The Forest is essentially horror, adult Minecraft. You can choose the difficulty but I still find it hard even on easy (I am not very good at games). Whilst I cannot give story spoilers, I was truly enamoured in the lore of the game (and now series) when I first found out about The Forest. But, importantly, it is scary. No matter how many people you play it with, it's still scary. I've only been able to play it with male friends, but they have never sounded less manly than when they've played this game. There is a sequel called Sons of The Forest (as seen in the gif below), but it is currently in testing so whilst I have access to it, I wouldn't consider it a full game yet and therefore I don't want to make any ill-made judgements. The Forest is honestly very beautiful and, if you're like me, you can always make it less scary by using console commands and making yourself invincible.

Do Not Feed the Monkeys Fictiorama Studios and Others
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Digital Voyeur Simulator (not in a NSFW way) 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: You essentially work as a spy with access to security cameras in various places, usually places of residence. You can report to your bosses through emails, you can simply watch, you can even interact with the people you see. But you probably shouldn't do that last part. Unless you want to. Or not. All you truly know is that repeated phrase: Do Not Feed The Monkeys. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Offline 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Easy-Medium 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): Nintendo Switch, Android, PS4, XBOX One, XBOX Series X & S, PC 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 8/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: I bought this game after having previously enjoyed Papers, Please (I may feature this game if I do a second part), and it is very fun if you like time management. Every single camera (or room) has a schedule, and in these schedules they will talk and give important information highlighted in yellow. It's a very fun game because you don't necessarily have to follow the rules you're given. Even though it's a management simulator, it also tests your morals (and you can see how good your morals are through a plant you get gifted). If you struggle with the main mode, Peeper Mode makes it significantly easier and the only drawback is you can't unlock achievements.

Journey Thatgamecompany
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Indie Adventure Game 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: The player plays as a robed person journeying towards a distant mountain through a sandy desert. The game has a multiplayer component, in which players can interact on their journey and assist each other. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Single Game 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Both 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Easy 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): PS3, PS4, iOS, PC 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 7/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: Journey is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Even if you have just a laptop, like me (at this moment in time), it still looks stunning. The multiplayer element is fascinating, as it's not entirely clear that you're playing with people. A lot of people aren't even sure if you always play with other people or if they are bots, but it doesn't really matter. You go on this Journey, and you're not alone. Now, you may be wondering, if it's so lovely, why is it only a 7/10? This is because, as much as I'd like to be one, I am not a cosy gamer. I like very stimulating games and Journey is lovely for if I want a calm gaming experience, but I rarely feel like that, so it just sits in my Steam library for months before I get the motivation again. It's by no means the fault of the game, just my own personal preference.

The Sims EA & Maxis
𓆩⚜𓆪 Genre: Life Simulator 𓆩❀𓆪 Gameplay description: The player creates virtual people called "Sims", places them in houses, and helps direct their moods and satisfy their desires. Players can either place their Sims in pre-constructed homes or build them themselves. 𓆩⚜𓆪 Single Game / Series? Series (most recent is The Sims 4) 𓆩❀𓆪 Online / Offline / Both? Technically both (usually offline but you can install mods to make it online) 𓆩⚜𓆪 Difficulty: Easy 𓆩❀𓆪 Platform(s): Basically everything 𓆩⚜𓆪 Personal Rating: 8/10 𓆩❀𓆪 Personal Notes: The Sims was probably one of the first games I ever played (bar a Garfield game I had on my DS). My cousin had the Sims 2 on DS, and I actually bought it recently to relive that time. I, unfortunately, did not realise how much she had already completed, so I lost the motivation for that one. However, I currently regularly play the Sims 4 on my laptop, and have quite a lot of mods and have all the packs (Anadius, IYKYK). I've remodelled my room recently, and the Sims meant I could plan it all out and I am very thankful for that. There are also so many options for building, customisation and traits. It is, however, not a 10, as the packs are way too expensive and morally I think it's kind of extortionate to make players pay hundreds of £/$ just to get a proper gaming experience. I have lots of mods to make it more fun and more full, but I don't feel I should have to do that. The only other game I've ever modded is Minecraft, and that's because I've been playing that since I was a child. The Sims is great, but it does get kinda boring at times.
Tumblr media
And those are all the games I'm covering today! I may make another part in the future since there are obviously many many games in existence, so if there are any genres you would like covered, leave a comment~ <3

Man, I'm SO FUCKING HYPED for Monster Hunter Wilds! Yes, the teaser didn't show much, but it's enough to speculate, and I can't wait to know more!
As some of you might remember, I had to skip MH World when it released because I didn't have access to a platform that could play it, and I regret it to this day. I later got to play it (and Iceborne) on a borrowed PS4 but I didn't get to do much other than play through the main story, and I never had the chance to play online, so even though I scratched the itch, I missed on a lot of cool stuff.
I don't want that to happen again. I want to play MH Wilds "properly", so if this thing doesn't release for Nintendo's next console (let me dream), I'm getting a PS5 (there are a couple other PS4/PS5 games I wouldn't mind trying after all). Or maaaaaaybe I'll get a gaming PC but I seriously doubt it. 2025 is still very far away, though, so anything can happen.
But! About the game itself! It looks so fucking good! It looks kinda open world-ish which isn't necessarily what I was hoping for, but I fully trust the MH team as they've never disappointed me so far. I love the abundance of small monsters and wildlife we see, and what seems to be a very dynamic weather system (that sand/dust thing is interesting... maybe an Elder Dragon is behind it?).
Oh and the new mount is absolutely adorable! And incredibly mobile too! I love the little guy so much, I need to know how it's called! The only thing I don't like is that this probably means Palamutes won't return, which makes me a sad wolf, but oh well. As long as we can dress up our cool raptor buddy, I'm happy. Palicoes better return though!
It'll be a long wait, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I guess I can keep playing Sunbreak in the meantime. :P

I’ve recently gotten into stardew valley (been playing on mobile for almost two months now) and I’m obsessed w it uniquely for a few reasons. Let me rant:
- I don’t own a console/have a steam and don’t feel like investing in one rn, but I can pay $5 on the App Store once and play stardew valley on my phone forever. No in-app purchases, no ads… I am crazy but I am free
- it preys on my childhood minecraft nostalgia via mining and combat (and fishing ig) but it also has much more structure and story than minecraft… I love story. I write those! They rock!
- the story and npcs have the perfect amount of structure vs flexibility. If you care enough, there’s a ton of lore to find, but it’s not tedious or required
- banger music, I’ve been listening to it while writing papers this semester
- the writing is actually good. Like the dialogue and cutscenes have actually made me gasp and laugh on occasions
- but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is SO IMPORTANT… like obviously a lot of love and work went into the game, but you gotta have some goofiness in life idc
- it’s a small detail but I love the variation in npcs. Like thank god they have actual adults with jobs to romance and not only the ones who seem like they could be teenagers (no hate to them but…)
- the variation point also goes for non marriageable npcs. The detail in characters like Linus, Demetrius, the Wizard, Jodi, etc etc etc makes me so happy
Long story short I’ve never enjoyed myself playing a game like this. Like I said, im not a huge gamer so I wasn’t really aware of it until recently and I know im late to the game (badum tiss), but I genuinely love how it hasn’t bored me yet. Base game is just beautiful. I’ve heard about the PC modding community and good on them but god I love my silly stupid little mobile farm

With the insanity that Unity's recent decisions have caused, I, as an aspiring game dev/designer, am looking to see what else is available. We all know about RPG Maker, GameMaker Studio, Godot, and Unreal. But if you're like me and have little to no understanding of code and limited finances, here are alternative indie engines I've scrounged up:
Idle Game Maker, the one I'm currently working with, built by Orteil of Cookie Clicker fame
Bitsy, and an associated pixel art tool called Pixsy
Pocket Platformer, similar to Bitsy, and code-free
Rogue Engine- requires download, but apparently, there's a tutorial
GDevelop- both 2D and 3D engines, has tutorials, and even has an option to playtest games in development and provide feedback (I am definitely trying out this one in the near future)
Heaps.io-requires download, and this honestly looks a little over my head right now, but might be worth checking into when I get a better understanding of code
Stride- 3D games, requires download, has docs and instructions so you can learn quickly
Bevy- 2D games for browser and mobile
LibGDX- now we're getting into engines that can make REAL games, some of the games in their showcase are on Steam
Defold- according to their showcase, this was used to make that mobile game Family Island that you've seen in so many ads
Love- don't be fooled by the childish font on their home page, the games in their showcase look amazing
HaxeFlixel- apparently used to make Friday Night Funkin'???
Armory3D, which apparently uses Blender
Solar2D, and here's their showcase- looks decent enough
Solarus- I didn't recognize the name, but I know I've heard of this, I've seen Zelda fans use this one. You have to download their launcher to play the games on PC.
DOME, which uses its own programming language
FNA, which calls itself a "reimplementation of Microsoft XNA"- if you remember, XNA no longer exists, but Eric Barone used it for Stardew Valley. FNA has been used to make games like Rogue Legacy (it's a real game, I got it on Steam).
Monogame- a direct descendant of XNA, being used for Stardew Valley's updates, and used to make a whole host of other popular indie games including 2 of my favorites: Axiom Verge and Celeste (so yeah, I'm definitely checking into Monogame if it's still around by the time I learn C#)
RPG in a Box, which looks really blocky and rough, but appears to be a cheaper solution than RPG Maker, especially for those new to the field. I already paid for RPG Maker, so I don't know if I'll use this one, but I'm putting it here for anyone else who may want to try it.
Adventure Game Studio- not sure how difficult it will be to use, but I'm seeing some decent-looking games in their showcase
RPG Paper Maker, which, I guess, makes 3D games out of pixel art? Says it's free to use, but if you want to sell your game, you'll need to buy a license. Fair enough, I suppose.
Narrat, another one I am DEFINITELY going to try, at least while I'm still learning. Has its own, very simple, easy to read script that is a step above Idle Game Maker's script, but not quite as complicated as "real" programming languages. Make RPG's and put them on Itch.io.
Ren'Py, for visual novels (apparently Doki Doki was made with this!?!)
Decker, can be used for various kinds of applications, not much for game-making, but maybe with a little imagination....
Engine.lol- I'm, uh, not sure what this is, but could be good for generating ideas.
EbitEngine- describes itself as "dead simple," used to make Bear's Restaurant.
Raylib- no tutorials, no built-in assets, you MUST know how to code- but it looks like a no-frills engine if you do know how to code. I don't, so I won't be using it, but if you do, go right ahead.
PyGame, which apparently uses Python coding language.
And this article listed all these and a few more that I didn't list here because they looked too expensive or too complicated.
There's also a Pixel Game Maker on Steam. It's 90 bucks right now (ouch!) but if you can get it, it looks like it'll be worth it.

Brief Intro to Honkai Star Rail!
Okay, since "what???" is the most popular response to my poll from yesterday, and because we're about 12 hours away from the game's launch (probably less, by the time I finish writing this), I figured I'd do the brief introduction to the game, in case anyone else needs or wants a fun free-to-play game in their lives right now!
Honkai Star Rail is the new game from Hoyoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd, along with other lesser known games. A few basic facts that might influence your desire to play/not play:
It is a gacha game. In my experience, Hoyo games (Genshin, at least) are the most free-to-play friendly gacha games I've ever seen, in that it's very easy to earn free currency to pull characters, and the characters you get for free as you play the game are more than enough to get you through the story. But if you have an issue with gacha in general, it might not be for you.
Unlike Genshin and HI3, Star Rail is a turn-based combat game. Which is a major plus for me. I like Genshin, but the active-time combat gets kind of tiring, and I'm definitely not "gud" enough to always get to the end of the end-game Spiral Abyss. In general, I much prefer the more strategy-focused turn based thing, so I am very excited for this one. Some who have played the betas have compared the combat (favorably) to the Persona games.
Star Rail is an anime-style fantasy space opera story. You might consider it the middle ground between Genshin's second-world fantasy and HI3's alternate-real-world sci-fi.
Star Rail can be played on PC or mobile (both Apple and Android). People who played the beta say it should be very mobile friendly, due to its turn-based nature, but personally I prefer playing on PC because the graphics are so cool. Genshin is also available on PlayStation, so hopefully Star Rail will be launched on PS sometime in the near future as well.
Star Rail occurs in the same multiverse as Genshin and HI3, but occurs in its own separate universe and will have its own separate story from the other two games, so you do not need to play either of the previous games to enjoy it!
Hoyoverse is VERY good at complex, long-term stories in their games. Like, crazy deep, oh my god how long have they been planning this sorts of stories. Think of them as anime soap operas in video game form.
If all that sounds like fun to you, and the gacha part doesn't put you off completely, then let me give you a couple of videos to watch. Ashikai and IslandXD are two of my favorite Genshin lore explainers, and they've both been given media access to the beta server to make some initial explainer videos and give them a jump start on their lore obsessions. If you're interested in Star Rail and want to have a little more context for the whole multiverse thing, definitely check out the below.
Otherwise, if you're like "anime sci-fi turn based story game? sign me up!" - well, if you see this in the next 12 hours (on 4/25 in US time zones, anyway), I highly suggest you go preregister to get some free stuff! And hit me up after you log in and let me know what your ID is, because FRIENDS. PLAY WITH ME, FRIENDS.

Star Rail 2.1: Rising Like a Phoenix (Spoiler Free)
This is one of those sorts of drops for a franchise that makes the bad content look worse. I dislike 2.0 MORE after 2.1 and for a pretty obvious reason: I like Aventurine now. I know for a lot of people that might be a non controversial statement but I did an almost a scene by scene breakdown for how much I didn't think he worked in 2.0. That anything they were going for was entirely flawed.
But they got back on track and now gave us arguably one of the best main content drops in all of Star Rail... But definitely not the best to me. I still have issues with this patch but compared to where I thought Penacony started, the fact that it's now well surpassed the Loufu already as a story is miraculous.
Admittedly, it's probably rivaling starting to try and rival the Loufu and Belobog separately in cutscene length at this point. There are definitely times during this patch where they could have used the FF 14 "Multiple cutscenes are about to play in a row" warning because BOY does this patch talk a lot. It has a lot to say which is good but...
Well, unfortunately without spoilers, I'm going to sound very negative about this patch. I swear I do like it. It has interesting character work and world building to it, some of which would have been hard not to run into these sorts of problems with, and the topics are good enough to warrant real discussions of them. There's just one major problem with it.
Their engine and the fact that this still needs to go on a phone.
Presentation is the death of this patch. I want to do a whole blog on this but I've once heard a reviewer say that one of the hardest things to make interesting is "Two people talking in a room." I actually disagree with that statement, almost anything done entirely alone (which ironically is one of the parts the game tries harder with when that eventually happened) is harder but... It's not a bad supposition. After all, if all they're doing is talking, not even arguing, you can end up just having it feel like an exposition dump. Even if it's entirely character work, it can still feel like we're being told a lot instead of being shown it.
And this patch has a lot of moment, especially early on with Aventurine, where it would get thrown back with "Show, don't tell." Not just because it's character stuff but ANYTHING to break up what is going on in these scenes. There's way too many, that chain into each other, that are just people standing in environments we've already spent time in (or are just not that visually interesting in general) just standing there, talking. Some are better, even great at this in the patch, but not enough of it is. I actually had to take a break midway through it because it was all coming in as a tiring drone that was giving me a headache from how much it was just getting on my nerves for being boring.
And I kind of have to assume part of that is a concession to the mobile market which admittedly, I'm not a part of. Star Rail is literally the first gacha game I've EVER stuck with for more than a week. I play it on my PC which runs almost anything that hits the market at top graphics even four years after I got it. So I probably feel this weird disconnect of Star Rail both being a AA game and it being a mobile game more than some might.
But it also begs the question of how much could they do in scenes? How much does their engine support that? The majority of cutscenes in the game are pre-rendered after all. There are VERY few gestures built into their dialogue system, at least as far as I can tell, which mostly come down to "Arms crossed, arms dropped, maybe a couple small facial expression changes." It all makes for a very monotonous presentation that can only be saved so much with the writing.
Even in a book, this would be most unacceptable. You'd still expect breaks from the dialogue to get into a character's head, detail their fidgets, their thoughts, show what others are doing and giving character flairs to add personality to scenes. Just SOMETHING to make it feel less boring and monotonous.
Which is the weird Catch 22 of this patch. It is the sharpest Star Rail has ever been with its writing... But it's also potentially its most boring. Again, not all of it and the climax is heck of a thing, but it's still one of the few times where I just wanted the game to shut up and let me do ANYTHING. It's one of the few times I've ever needed a break during main story content besides when the Loufu pissed me off in 1.1. Being angry would still have been more of a reaction than a lot of what this patch was causing out of me.
But the boring elements will also fade and I'll be left with the best moments in my memory so I suspect that unlike 2.0, where I actually keep forgetting about how good the Firefly stuff is because the bad felt more important to me and stuck with me more, I'll forget the bad and keep the good. You know, like the fact that Welt probably gives his best performance in the entire game in this patch, or the fact that I think the game is genuinely good at some of its politicking. Its mystery is still not great by ANY means but its leaning more into the strengths of Penacony at this point which is good.
It is a patch that has resold me on the game, both for why I'm bothering to stick around and more literally in that I'm DEFINITELY pulling for Aventurine when he comes around and getting Topaz to go with him when she comes around. Helps that losing my 50/50 and my 75/25 on Acheron got me both Clara and her Lightcone finally, giving me one of the best follow up attackers in the game.
And I do think I should mention that this patch just continues the fact that Star Rail is still one of the best turn based RPGs out there right now, let alone for the price, and this patch doesn't disappoint on that front. But I'd need to get more into spoilers for that so for today, thank you all, good luck on your pulls and see you next tale.

Ok, so here are some thoughts I have on the new UI
Disclaimer: Some of these are probably just me things and not real issues lol
- I don’t like placement of map in the top corner, when I play sso I tend to keep my eyes focused on the bottom of the screen to see jumps and what not, and with the new placement I have to move my eyes farther to see the map. This takes my eyes away from my horse for longer, and makes me lose track of where I am/I ran into a few things trying to look at the map lol
- I don't like the placement of the speed indicator at the bottom of the screen, but hiding it gets rid of dismount button and forces you to rely on the x key
- I find the character pictures in the corner a bit distracting, they seem a bit to big and look out of place
- why is the chat bubble wobbly/squiggly/whatever? it's a stylistic choice, sure, but it's like...not exaggerated enough to read that way. It's sort of awkwardly in-between a clean design and a more squiggly design, making it look unintentional and messy to me instead of a artistic choice. I lowkey thought it was glitched at first lol
- So like...why is it incomplete? Settings, notifications, toggle view etc still have the old ui design, I just don't understand why they would seemingly release it with major aspects of it (i.e. character sheets, settings,) still unfinished
- So it's definitely aiming for mobile audiences, but it feels lackluster on pc
- I don't like the sparkles whenever you gain (h)xp
- Roughly the place where the dismount button used to be is now shopping…idk I just don't like how the shopping button is in front of the inventory button, I definitely clicked on it due to dismount button muscle memory a few times, and maybe this is me putting on too much of a tinfoil hat but it feels like by placing the shop button more prominently than the inventory button, they're trying to remind players of it more or get people to accidentally click it so people eventually pay more for clothes or whatever
- I like the loading screen! Art filling up the screen, font is pleasing, running horse
- There's now 3 styles of UI in the game now; the new UI, the old, and the updated race UI
- Honestly I like the race UI better than the new UI, I would maybe like it if they based the new UI more off that
- I don’t like having to click to level up horse although I could see that being useful for character leveling up if you want to time screenshots
- I like the animation leveling up comes with though
- reins glitch😩 not UI related but can they fix the reins connecting to saddle glitch already lol
- Inspecting players only works like 50% of the time for me now
- I'm not a fan of how separated all the buttons are now
-The white text on dark background in the chat box hurts my eyes and makes it hard to read but that's probably a me thing, I had a concussion that messed up my eyes and made it harder for me to read some text on screens including light on dark - however I did see someone else in global saying they thought the text was too bright as well
- I like the shared moment thing! The interactions with your horse are cute and fun
- I don’t like the extra call for pickup menu, I can see it being helpful but I'd like maybe a toggle button for that, like a "don't show this message again" thing
- Why does the inventory default to opening so low on the screen now?
- I like how you can see the exact xp numbers without the character screen
- Someone already mentioned it, but the champ groups...you can't see past like the first 4 letters of someone's names, and the scrolling
Anyway, I think it's fine overall, it's not my taste but I don't despise it like I thought it might

Why I hate the concept of Gacha gambling mechanics in games.
As far as I'm aware everyone and their parents are at least aware of Genshin Impact and other games with similar gambling mechanics like Fate: Grand Order and Raid: Shadow Legends.
You may read the title and think "Oh he hates gacha games." I can't blame you for thinking that, but that is incorrect, as some of the games with in my opinion incredibly captivating narratives, well-written characters and great gameplay, considering their platform of choice have the Gacha system. Genshin being made Mihoyo has a great writing team there to keep the game engaging, with most players managing to go from hating to being somewhat feral for Furina. Fate: G.O. from what I've watched is an RPG-style game that survived to this day simply due to the gameplay being engaging enough that the grind for your favourite history character turned waifu can be bearable.
I believe the issue comes from how the mobile game market is monetised: making people play a game far beyond any mental limit of average human beings to grind out currency to get a limited amount of shots at a character. One operator, servant or whatever out of rosters that tend to have hundreds of options, sometimes requiring additional items to be completed, most usually coming from limited-time events. So the marketing strategy can be summarised as such: starve the player of content and rush them to spend potentially ludicrous amounts of money to get anything substantial from the game.
It's an aspect of these games that I always disliked that made me leave mobile games. Hence I choose to enjoy these games by watching people tossing their money instead of me. To top it off games like Armored Core VI or Devil May Cry 5 exist and come as complete packages (hell, Vergil is even free DLC on PC and mods brought in the rest). I guess I'm trying to say that I'm disappointed this is the only stable source of income for these games.

Is it just me or are mobile games just getting worse?
I don't necessarily mean that the stories and gameplay itself is inherently worse, but over the last decade or two I've noticed certain trends.
First up, it used to be a game would prompt you for a MICRO transaction in order to, f.ex., stop getting shown ads. It used to be a one time payment of anything from one to maybe ten dollars (rounding up the stupid 99 cent bullshit). Nowadays comparable games will sell you tickets, skip-its, to skip a certain number of ads, or charge you a monthly subscription fee, and even then these may not rid you of All ads, just some of them, the ones that are otherwise unskippable.
On the subject of ads. False advertising has always been a bit of an issue with mobile games, but I feel like it's grown steadily worse. Every other ad I'm shown is for games I have previously played and thus I can say with 100% certainty that the ads do not represent the gameplay.
I'm also seeing basically the same ad, over and over, which is apparently for 4-5 different games, despite those games being listed as different types of games. A bubble shooter, hidden object, match 3, other puzzle games all showing the same ad, solving the same exact puzzles in each, none of which are the kind of puzzle game that revolves around the puzzle shown.
This used to be the "pull the pin" sort of ad, but now it's these interlocking circles you're (apparently) supposed to detach from one another.
Same puzzles, several different games, all of it fake.
And again, on the subject of ads. There have always been shitty, poorly made, cheap looking puzzle games that were never really "games" but ad farms, where what they were farming were ad watches. Your phone, you, being tricked into essentially being soil in which they grown their profits. The companies that make these make tons of them, the first 20-30 minutes of gameplay is mostly ad free, and then it ramps up, attempting to trick you into sticking it out, trying to make use of your sunk cost fallacy to maximize their ad revenue.
And that's not the only mass produced game out there. There are companies that re-use the same assets, same images, same level designs, same gameplay, same code essentially, only released in increments and with a slight environmental design variety to imply this is a new game being actively created as you play it despite being the exact same game as the last one, two, five, made by the same group of people. The company may even use multiple names to pretend to be new so that you can't just check what else they've made and find the same game over and over.
And then there's the prices.
They've really gotten well out of hand.
For approximately 15 usd a month I can subscribe to a massive online role playing PC game with active player support, a vast variety of activities, and so on. For the same amount of money I can maybe buy a medium pack of resources in one mobile game that won't last more than an hour of gameplay, won't give any lasting benefits, won't do anything really.
Multiplayer mobile games are very often war games where the winner is inevitably whoever can spend the most money on it every month, and those are in no way affordable to most people. They also mostly advertise themselves as games of exploration or of building when in reality the gameplay requires you to amass the largest army possible and invest several hours and hundreds of dollars to prevent your base from being raided frequently enough to make any exploration or building functionally impossible.
The micro-transactions have gone macro.
In short, it feels like mobile games these days are sold to you with false advertising, absolutely stuffed full of ads, and so unreasonably expensive you're better off putting the equivalent money in a jar for a couple of weeks and buying a whole ass PC setup instead.
Being that it's not a heavily regulated market, can this not be used as an example of how capitalism breeds neither innovation nor excellence?
(Yes, exceptions exist, but finding them in the very, very, very, very, heavily saturated with trash, marketplaces, with their absolutely garbage user interface is it's own pile of excrement.)

so I most likely have MS
It could be just something else wrong with my brain or spinal cord still can't be properly seen until late Jan, probably can't get the MRI until Feb but the current symptoms and ones from previous years add up to been having it
optic neuritis and uhthoff’s syndrome is the name for what I've been dealing with since July and it's only now somewhat getting 'better'. I can see much better for much longer but still have blindness nonstop and the daily headaches. For the last two weeks I couldn't be on a phone or see a screen for longer than 5 mins without pain and nonstop flashes. Can't even read too long or my eyes just stop functioning. It's a strange thing to experience. And it's the usual first sign of MS.
I also had a small bad fall last month and it was bad enough that I have a complete ACL tear, so surgery is pending. Seeing the doc about it hopefully soon to gauge time frame
I spent all of November on the couch cuz I can't walk and see properly. I really couldn't do anything but it kinda helped in a way. I'm spitballing that one of my "most likely is MS" triggers is stress, so once my partner came back and I'm not physically alone anymore I withdrew from... everything really.
Logged out of everything, muted and disabled anything with a notification, friends unfortunately (whichever ones I think I have left). But in general I really needed to hit pause, questionable that this was a way to go about it but I do feel less stressed a bit. I mean I have to be slow atm with my leg, it literally hurts to try and play games/be on PC and phone, also too broke to do anything but checkout books at the library(which I like to do anyways) so can't do much; my vision has definitely improved better in the last few weeks than the last four months so tiny lining? I'm honestly only here now cuz I 1. forgot insomnia meds and 2. can watch a stream and touch a keyboard without a painful headache after so long and 3. Can actually SEE
I'm rambling at this point and only for myself really. I just finally feel like myself again for the first time in a very long and newest personal lowest year in my life. I'm so exhausted that I can't even bother with wanting to die atm. Almost funny that my brain is trying to do that for me anyways lol. But I know this one normal moment is brief. i think my headspace will be much better as my appt gets closer and i might get back to my online presence with it but for now I'm still thinking about staying off things help.
I am still very tired of trying to be 'normal' and of trying to function through it all. I'm tired of deteriorating every passing year and masking all the chronic pain with no valid name but now I'm closer to some proper and correct reason for it all. At the very least I can get handicap parking privilege and a true medical weed pass. Maybe an eyepatch would look good on me? Using mobility aids with less guilt? Idk
comforting prospects in hard times
