I really want to know what Thingol and Melian would have done if Luthien had been taken captive in Angband.
Not in like, a darkfic way. Not my jam.
but in a "What terms would Morgoth set?" way, and also, a "How far are Thingol and/or Melian willing to go to save their daughter vs their kingdom?" way, and also a "Would they even agree on that?" way.
Melian's actions once Thingol dies suggest that she's far more attached to her family than her nominal people/kingdom. Would she throw down the girdle for Luthien's sake?
I do have on thing to say about the fact that "one of the passengers is a 19 year old" for the Titan.
A 19 year old is still a "teenager" but that is a whole ass adult. That is an adult who has been an adult for a year and acting like he has no self agency to not make the choices he did is just ridiculous and I'm seeing *way* to many people on this site pretty much just infantalize him. 18 is *also* an adult. A new adult, but still an *adult*. If you are seriously in the mindset of "but that's a child still!" You need to step away from Tumblr and just think about how you view the various human stages of development.
19 year olds aren't kids. That man made that choice to go down there.
(also as a trans man who's rights are under attack and that people are using the argument of "kids can't consent" to get their foot in the door and then further take them away from literal adults, some under the argument of "well a lot of y'all are autistic and Don't Really Understand what's happening even though you're adults!!" This shit infuriates me. Stop infantilizing people!!! This may not be about my rights as a trans person but the issue of infantilizing literal adults is still the same!!!)
FYI if you're watching MasterChef Australia, the Sri Lankan Australian contestant Savi is a friend of mine and kind of a stealth idol because everything I seem to be online (a ball-busting, bombastic, proudly brown, unapologetically fat, sexy decolonizer lady) she actually is irl. It's funny because she was a few grades below me and found me intimidating when we were in school and now I'm the one perpetually in awe of her. Do watch if you can and root for her! She's a delight!
Tbh I have a lot of complicated feelings about the whole OceanGate thing and I'm not really a fan of how this is being treated as The Evergiven 2, but as it becomes more and more likely that the sub suffered a critical failure and imploded days ago my main thought is that visiting the Titanic's wreck should be in the same category as climbing Mt. Everest; a pointless, unfathomably dangerous, disrespectful excursion that should not be allowed, or at least regulated and reserved for experts who know what they're doing to conduct research and/or matinance.
I mean like at this point I don't even think the average person should know where Titanic is. What is the benefit? All it leads to is death and the disruption and/or potential destruction of a mass gravesite that also doubles as a unbelievably valuable historic artifact that will not be around forever. Why the hell are people just allowed to go down there?? We don't let people go rub their hands all over the Mona Lisa, and that wouldn't even kill anyone, why can billionaires just go tromping around in far more deadly and fragile locations, especially ones where hundreds of people have already died?
But yeah idk there's no real point in adding my input to the discussion and I kinda don't want to comment on it beyond this anyway, but the whole situation sucks and def makes it clear there are simply some things people should not be allowed to do no matter how much goddamn money they have.
EVEN MORE Pokemon Horizons Episode 25 spoilers under the cut!
(I know these warnings may be redundant but I wanna be courteous to those who haven't gotten to watch it yet - I'd love to preserve the experience of a series as much as possible as someone who usually steers clear of spoilers myself hehe ✨)

constantly gaslighting myself into believing that my chronic migraines aren't even that bad. until i get one again and it's actively the worst experience of my life.
I think that. the technology used to make secunits. could ethically be used to make ancillaries. if the unethical part of making ancillaries is overriding a nonconsenting sentient being's identity, and the unethical part of making secunits is creating for them a brain with an identity only to enslave them and subject them to an intolerable amount of stress and danger, then couldn't you use secunit fabrication technology to create a body intended for use as an ancillary and then hook it up to a ship without there ever being someone nonconsenting involved? I mean this is kind of just clones with more steps to be honest but. my point is, Breq & the fledgling government of the Republic of Two Systems should pull a heist on the corporation rim to steal secunit fabrication secrets and Murderbot should get involved because somehow it always gets involved. then after everyone's done shooting at people, it and Breq can watch a musical together even though it finds her humming annoying as hell. I'm just saying.
No. That is not a term I would use. I have enjoyed the idea of it and can get into it when its well written but i've so far only read one fic i've truly enjoyed and that didn't ship them at all. I am a sucker for time turning AUs in which any character (Harry in this case) is thrown back to another time.
However, in their instance, I don't enjoy when they're shipped/romantic because I just don't think Harry is or has anything special enough to warrant and evoke that kind of emotion or pull from Voldemort who is an otherwise incredibly emotionally closed off person.
Furthermore for the most part Tom/arry fans will very heavily shit on Bellatrix. Most of the time authors are like “ewwww no Voldemort didn’t love Bellatrix he just USED HER he’s not CAPABLE of love she was nothing more to him than his SLAVE” then write Voldemort becoming some kind of idiot obsessive love freak over Harry and have V fall so madly in love with him he changes his evil ways. That puts me off the authors and subsequently their fics, so it's unlikely i'll venture into it again.
I find it kind of repulsive as a ship to be perfectly honest, but I enjoy reading the non romantic or non smut ones and the ones where he heavily manipulates and abu/ses Harry. Unfortunately it's hard to find many of those.
