Loki's Little Secret (Part 2 of 3)
Part 1 here / Part 3 here
Pairing: Loki x female reader
Warnings: protective Loki (he might sound kinda like an ass but trust me), hidden relationship, angst cause I couldn't help myself, self doubt, thoughts of being inadequate, fluff (I promise... still coming)
Summary: You and Loki have been dating for three months and you've kept your relationship a secret from everyone... until now
Based on this Ask:
Tumblr media
A/N: So I know it took a lot longer to put out this second part than I initially promised but I broke up with my boyfriend of several years about two days after I posted the first part and it was a bit hard to focus on this one. Before everyone starts to feel sorry for me, I know it was the right thing to do and although it sucked I'm in a better place right now because of it... now let's back to Loki and his happy ending 💚💚💚

(LOKI POV - 5 days after Loki left)
You groan in annoyance as you flip back to the previous page of your book. You've read this chapter twice now and the preceeding chapter three times but you find yourself completely unable to focus. The words jumble together as your mind continually drifts from the open pages to your most recent memories of Y/N and unfortunately, they are far from pleasant.
You could still hear the pain in her voice, see the tears in her eyes, feel her pulling away from you when she told you she never wanted to be your secret. As soon as she fled the common room you knew you had made a horrible mistake and as each day passed you doubted you would ever be able to make amends for how you treated her. You pinch your nose and squeeze your eyes shut tightly, trying to force the memories away.
The sound of the door unlocking distracts you and thankfully sends the thoughts scattering away, for the moment at least. Thor stomps the snow off his boots then closes the door of the hotel room as he greets you. He puts his heavy coat over the back of one of the two chairs at the dining table and sits down. You place your book on the nightstand between the two small beds and stand up, the mattress squeaking noisily as you move.
"I brought dinner," he says, trying to sound cheerful as he starts to pull food out of a large paper bag.
"Thank you," you respond although you still have no appetite. It was easy enough to blame your lack of sleeping and eating on the mission, but now that it was behind you, you knew your brother would want answers.
You take the seat opposite him and ask, "What did they say about my request?"
He unwraps his burger, with a light shrug and says, "Once the file transfer was completed, Hill said we could stay here until we were needed again." He looks up at you then back down at his food and says, "Don't worry, brother, I didn't give a reason as to why we are not going back yet."
You nod and sigh in relief but then Thor adds, "You do know, they are not as dense as you pretend they are."
You don't respond so he continues, "Steve says Y/N hasn't been herself since..." he gestures vaguely with one hand, "whatever happened in the common room. He told me she looks unwell, as if she is hardly sleeping and she won't speak to anyone. She never enters the commons areas and vanishes as soon as her work is complete for the day."
You avoid his gaze, feeling the weight of how much you had hurt Y/N.
The two of you sit in silence for a few moments but then your brother finally asks you the question you have been dreading since you impulsively volunteered to join him. "What happened Loki?"
You pick at your burger, trying to pretend you are interested in it but know you can't avoid this conversation any longer. You fold the wrapper again and push your food away from you. Looking down you begin to fidget with your fingers under the table anxiously.
"Y/N and I have been..." you pause and correct yourself, "... we were together for the past three months." You close your eyes briefly, feeling a pain rise in your chest when you adjust your relationship from present to past tense.
"You've hidden this for three months?" Thor asks in shock. "I just assumed that was the first time the two of you were together or at least that this was fairly new."
You clear your throat before answering, feeling ashamed at how you acted, "That was the first time Y/N had stayed at the Tower, but no one was supposed to see us. You were all away at that silly team building event and we accidently fell asleep while watching a movie. The email from Rogers said you wouldn't be back until noon and Y/N would have gone home well before then."
"Everyone was tired of being in the woods so we came back early," Thor explained as briefly as possible then he motioned for you to continue, "You said it was her first time staying at the Tower..."
You sigh and pick at your palm, "For most of our relationship, if I wasn't on a mission, I would spend my nights at Y/N's apartment but I always left her before she woke up. I wanted to make sure no one ever saw me entering or leaving her apartment so they wouldn't know we were together."
"So wait... you would sneak out of her bed and just leave?" he asks, you can hear the judgment in your brother's voice, whether it was intentional or not. "I don't understand. Did you even care for her or was she just a bit of fun to keep you from being bored?"
"Don't you ever assume that I don't care for Y/N!" you stand up, putting your hands on the table in tightly balled fists. Thor looks up at you in silence as you sit slowly. You take a deep breath and to calm yourself, "I love her, Thor, more than I ever thought possible. I know it's only been a few months but, she means everything to me and now I might have lost her completely."
"Because you are an idiot," your brother says as if to finish your thought and you can't do anything but nod in agreement.
"Then why would you do this? Keeping your relationship quiet is one thing but you don't even act like you are friends with her," he says.
"I just... I wanted to keep her safe," you tell him, running your fingers through your hair as you lean back in your chair. "We are constantly facing new threats and I didn't know how else to ensure she would never be connected to me."
"What would make you think-" Thor starts to ask but stops himself. "You spoke to Peter?" he asks but it sounds more like a statement then a question.
You shake your head slowly, "No... but I overhead you, Barton and Parker talking right after the boy first joined the team."
"You heard us..." Thor says with a slight nod of understanding.
You continue, "It was a few weeks before I met Y/N but I couldn't forget how worried Parker was. He was so concerned with his aunt and girlfriend's safety he almost declined Stark's offer to be a part of the Avengers."
Thor looks down and sighs, "We told him maintaining his secret identity was the best way to guarantee his loved ones were safe. Distancing Spider-Man from Peter Parker would be a crucial step in making sure our enemies would never think to hurt MJ or his aunt. But... Clint also told him that if he ever felt they were truly in danger, they could be hidden somewhere secure like his family."
"You and I don't have secret identities," you pause briefly, "So I thought she needed to be the secret part of my life."
"I don't- why didn't you at least tell Y/N that?" Thor asks and you sit forward, resting your elbows on the table and putting your face in your hands.

(LOKI POV - 7 days after Loki left)
"Wake up," you feel someone nudge your shoulder lightly but mumble for them to leave you alone and roll over on the narrow bed. "I said 'wake up' brother," Thor says louder as he quickly pulls the sheets away, your try to grasp for them but miss. He tosses your sheets in a pile on the carpeted floor at the foot of the bed and walks away triumphantly.
You sit up and groan angrily, "What was that for?"
"It's half past noon," he responds in an annoyed tone. "You can not spend another day just hiding under the covers."
He picks up his bag and sets it on the dining table and begins to rummage around in it. You don't bother replying to him, instead you wave your hand and a light green glow surrounds the discarded sheets, setting them back on the bed. Pulling them up dramatically around yourself, you roll onto your side and attempt to ignore your brother.
He huffs loudly and you can feel him walking towards you so you tighten your grip on the sheets preemptively. "Enough of this Loki," he says but you hold your end of the sheets for a moment. "We're going back," he says in a stern voice as he pulls the sheets away from you a second time, your grip loosening as soon as the words hit you.
"Wait- what-" you start to ask in surprise as you get up from the bed quickly.
He picks your bag up from the floor by the door and tosses it to you. You catch it against your chest as he says, "We're going back and you are going to talk to Y/N."
________________________________________
(LOKI POV - later that night)
"We'll be landing in about fifteen minutes," the SHIELD pilot announces from the front of the jet.
You sigh and close your eyes as you lean forward to rest your head in your hands. You desperately wanted to talk to Y/N but you were still unsure if she would want to hear what you had to say.
You feel your brother's hand grip shoulder shoulder tightly as he tries to reassure you. "Try not to worry brother," he urges and you look up at him.
"I'm sure once you tell Y/N everything we talked about and apologize for keeping the truth from her and for treating her so horribly in front of the whole team and for ignoring her all those times you were working together she will absolutely forgive you... in time, of course I mean. She might not want to talk yet though, seeing as how she is still avoiding everyone and she did tell you never to speak to her again." He pauses for a moment and adds, "Maybe it would be better for you to wait until tomorrow to talk to her, it will be close to midnight when we arrive."
"Thank you Thor," you mumble in response.
"That's what big brothers are for," he says with a hopeful smile and you simply nod.
You finally settle on what you want to do just as the jet touches down on the landing pad behind the Tower. You decided that you would go to your room for the night and try to force yourself to sleep. Then, in the morning you would go to Y/N's apartment with her favorite flowers, coffee and the pastries she loved from the Cafe around the corner. Hopefully she would be willing to listen to you but if not, at least you could show her you still care.
Your reach your door and grip the knob tightly but you can't turn it, you stand motionless while your thoughts begin to swirl. Before you have time to change your mind again, you push the button for the ground floor as the elevator doors close.
Tumblr media
(Y/N POV)
You yawn again and check your phone, it's a little after midnight so you decide it's time to at least attempt to fall asleep. You turn off the TV and just as you are about to turn out the light you hear a series of soft knocks on your front door. Your heart jumps in your chest as you get up quickly and head towards the door, you recognize that rhythm immediately.
"Loki?" you ask hopefully. You're unable to contain the smile that starts to spread when you see him standing in your hallway but it fades quickly when you see how worried and tired he looks.
He nods slightly in response and immediately looks down at his hands, rubbing them together nervously. "Y/N, I-" he starts to say but his voice falters. "I'm sorry, it's late... I shouldn't have come," he tells you, shaking his head without ever making eye contact with you.
He turns to walk away and you take a step outside of your apartment. "I'm glad you're home," you tell him truthfully.
He stops mid-step and sighs heavily, "The Tower never felt like home." He turns slowly to look at you, "Home was here, with you but I've ruined that."
Before you can reply he says, "I know you told me to act as if you don't exist but I can't. I can't pretend you aren't the most important person in my life, the only person I have ever been able to truly be myself around. I swear I never meant to hurt you Y/N, it was the last thing I ever wanted and I would do anything to take back the pain I caused you."
He looks down as he talks and you take a few steps towards him, you cup his cheek lightly when he finishes, hoping he will look at you. He lifts his head and looks into your eyes, "I just wanted to keep you safe, to protect you."
"What do you mean?" you ask but he doesn't answer, he tries to look away from you but you keep your hand on his cheek and guide him back to you.
"Can we speak inside, please?" he asks quietly and you agree, taking a step back so he can walk into your apartment first.
You close the door behind you and when you look back he is sitting anxiously on your couch. You sit, leaving an empty space between the two of you which feels unnatural. He looks hurt when you don't sit closer to him but he doesn't move instead, he begins to rub his hands slowly again.
"Loki," you say in a soft tone, putting your hand over his which stops his nervous motion. He looks up at you and you say, "Please talk to me. I'm sorry I didn't listen to you before but I want to understand what happened."

LOKI's POV Part I
Loki x Reader Avengers The Office AU (Slowwwwww Burn)
Warnings: Loki's side through the lens
Word Count: HAPPY BIRTHDAY @tarithenurse.
MASTERLIST in bio, darlings. Tags are open (check bio)
The familiar wall of the 'BTS room' came up on the camera with the lone empty chair in the front. There was a slight movement behind the screen before the frame took in the face of Javier. His usually beautiful blue eyes seemed to lose some sleep while his olive skin looked flawless. Running his hand through the brown curls over his head, he sat down on the chair and took in a deep breath for the camera. "Hi there! I am Javier," he signed with a tired smile on his face. "As you may already know, I am one of the people behind the cameras here in the Avengers facility." He wanted to continue signing but a thought made him pause. His features were lost in some invisible maze for a moment before he came back. "A lot has changed here," he slowly began again, "and things are not how they usually were. So…" his long fingers hung in the air for two seconds before coming back. "I compiled some of the footage that I was strictly told not to let out. Well, more of a threat to not let these out. But I don't care anymore." Javier shrugs and gives a faint smile. "I'd rather have this come out than-" he paused, bringing his hands together to intertwine his fingers. He eventually sighed and rubbed his palms on his face before getting up and coming closer to the camera and clicking something to make everything go dark.

A footage comes up, of the very first day when everyone is busy chatting, properly introducing themselves despite having met on the battlefield before. You are there too, a little reserved but never without a smile for anyone who comes up to talk to you. But the camera is focused behind all this lively chaos at the lone figure by the fridge. Loki. A glass of wine in one hand, he is observing minutely every little thing happening across the room. More so, he is observing your interactions with everyone and how you come back to cuddle with the little stray pup every time you get some alone time. Loki is practically leaning on the countertop next to the fridge all the while slightly amused by how you always come back to drown your hands in the lush fur of the baby. .
It is the next day and the 'happy to help' coming out of you has shut some part of Loki down. The camera is still zooming into his face as he is suddenly lost in some calculations thrown by your sunshine of a smile- while the world is moving past him but he just standing there by the kitchen island with his arms across his chest and a big furrow of his brows. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
At Bruce's lab, the camera records his starry eyes as he explains to you how the universe works and you are hung up on every word of his. And once he leaves the lab, for a breather, the camera follows him."No one's looked at me like that," Loki is speaking more to himself than to the camera. Once he realises that, he looks at the camera with a straight back and a puff of air blowing out through his mocked laugh. "What is wrong with this human?" he casually points at the lab before getting his eyes stuck on you through the glass partition. Again. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
In the night, the camera seems to be out on the balcony, right outside Loki's room. Zooming in, you can be seen standing outside Loki's door with Thor before you walk away with a smile and Loki slams the door in his brother's face. Turning around, Loki walks towards his bed and the camera pans in to show him carrying a plate with a freshly baked lava cake. The God jumps onto his bed and lies on his stomach, keeping the plate in front of him as he digs into the lava and lets his mouth savour it with the biggest smile on his face. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The CCTV catches you falling asleep on Loki's shoulder as he reads you the lore in the library, making Loki pause and look into some invisible void in front of him. "As much as I don't want to-" he brings his hand to brush your stray strands away from your face and lock his fingers under your cheek resting on his shoulder- "but you might have to hear an earful from Barton if I do not move you away from me." He gently brings your face to rest on the sofa's headrest instead, and barely a second later, Clint barges in, waking you up and forcing Loki to lock eyes with the one camera that followed the hawkeye in. The God just gives it one tired look. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The camera is panned in onto the large glass of orange juice Loki is pouring for himself. "Why should I be bothered by how she feels? She would have eventually found out one day that she was adopted." He brings the glass to his lips to sip it like tea. .
The God is lifting weights in the training room without much difficulty. He is more focused on something else. "Do you think she got hurt because of me telling her she's adopted?" He squats and comes back up in the camera's frame. "Because it's not great news to be told, from personal experience." He squats again and the camera can see the door open and a figure entering the room. Loki comes back up. "But that should only be a sad thing if her adoptive parents are not good parents." He thinks out loud and squats again. The camera focuses on the figure still standing at the doorway. It is Sam standing there in mild shock. "Is this dude deadlifting Seventeen hundred pounds like it's nothing?" the man exclaims to the room. .
"So what if her parents are not good enough," Loki huffs to no one in particular. The camera pans out to show the rooftop garden having the most luscious-looking fake green grass but a one hundred per cent real vertical garden. Loki sits in the middle on a lounge chair as he sips a screwdriver and puts his sunglasses on while he basks in the bright sun. "Everyone has screwed up parents," he is finally talking to the camera, "the world is not always soft and warm. She should grow up. And we all know what does not kill you makes you stronger." He nods at himself in satisfaction and goes back to sipping his drink. .
"I did get stronger. But at what cost?" It is night-time and Loki lies on the rooftop, higher than that garden. The camera seems to be sitting next to his lost figure; the figure that is staring at the starry sky, swimming in them for some answers. "Not to mention I did almost die," he whispers. "And I cried every night when I survived that wormhole, wondering what I had done wrong to make my biological parents hate me and my adoptive parents loathe me." There is a moment of silence in which the camera zooms in to show the glistening eyes of the God as he does not take away his gaze from the view of the universe above him. "Do you think she feels that way too?" he whispers. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
At the Pepperoni wedding, Javi's camera is constantly pointed at Loki and you, and usually, you both are near each other. Often When Pepperoni finally kiss, the camera is fast to turn and find you in the hooting crowd, smiling with tears welling in your eyes and no one but the God looking at you with just a spec of longing in his eyes. And Peter and Scott look at Loki, hooting and clapping- sometimes smacking each other in the chest in excitement- with heart eyes. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The single cement block in front of the tavern holds Javi's camera when the frame records Venom devouring one of the perverts. "Javier!" a voice comes from behind the camera, making the device shake as if startled. Loki's face comes into view with quite the lines of worry running down his forehead. "I told you to call me as soon as you found Y/N! Where is-" He hasn't even finished the sentence when he hears your scream coming from the van in the parking lot. His head whips in that direction and his eyes turn dark. Within a snap, he is right next to the van, in between you and the lowlife thug. 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The camera is recording a familiar figure sitting by the kitchenette counter looking down on the drawing of a chibi Loki on a napkin. With a sigh, the figure puts the napkin back on the counter and stands up. "All right, magic Mike, you can send me back on my honeymoon now," he announces before a sparkling circle opens to a beach and our man walks away. A few seconds later, the elevator dings open and the camera zooms in on the figure of Loki still in his formal attire- though a little crumpled- walking in. He is heading for the dorms when his eyes land on the counter. Taking a few careful steps, he tilts his head at the site of the drawing on the napkin. He stands there for two minutes, staring at the little version of himself, quietly breathing, never moving. Finally, he picks up the napkin and takes it to his room. .
The next morning, the camera is up early and recording outside Loki's room. One can hear the shower running when the frame quickly records a once-over of the beautiful room before finally landing on what it is looking for. Right next to the open window, on the study table, in between the fluttering pages of the justifiably bulky epic Mahabharata is a carefully laminated napkin of a chibi Loki being used as a bookmark. Javi records the bookmark in the frame at an aesthetically pleasing angle, taking him and a half minutes. Once satisfied, the camera is zoomed out to take in Loki's daunting figure standing next to the study table with eyes that spell murder. The camera nearly falls from the boy's hands but Loki does not flinch. He stands there, his arm resting on the French window while he looks down at the camera. "You tell anyone about this, your little cameras won't be the only ones I shut down permanently."
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The camera records you walking across your college campus with an unusual- but convincingly threatening- gait. Once you turn the corner to the desolated parking lot in front of the swimming pool, a shimmering wave of golden light changes you into Loki. "Men are disgusting," the God announces with such force as if he had been holding it in for a long time. He turns to the camera. "Javier, you are assigned to follow Y/N around campus, right? You make sure that worm David stays away from her. He does not seem to have good intentions for her." The furrow in his brow is a serious one. "And if he does try to do something that, let's just say you would not do to Y/N, you contact me. Do you understand, Javier?" The camera keeps panning on Loki while the God is lost in a two-second thought before looking at the lens with judgement in his eyes. "Did you hear what I said? Then repeat it to me."

The camera sits right in front of the television screen in the lounge to capture you, Loki, Clint and Cassie in a serious game of Uno. "Uno," you declare, keeping down a Draw 4 card, "colour Blue." Loki gasps dramatically, bringing his hand to his chest. "How could you Y/N?!" Clint chuckles. "She got you good, Lolo." "How could you-" Loki draws a card from his pile and puts his Draw 4 on top of your card- "do this to Cassie?!!" You roar and Cassie groans, the little girl almost falling back on the floor. "Noooooo," she announces from behind her cards as she gently draws one from her pile and puts another Draw 4 in the arena, "how could she do this to Clint?!!!" Clint is simply blinking at the Draw 4s while the camera takes the liberty to pan in on the twelve cards he's already holding. "No, this can't be right. You cannot Draw 4 on another Draw 4!!!" Cassie giggles at the defeated expressions of Clint, Loki simply shrugs his shoulders for following the rules made by them girls and you guffaw in unadulterated elation, your happiness throwing you off balance into Loki's arm. There is a split second of eye contact, made by Loki with the camera before he regains his composure like a professional and sits there similar to a statue while your laughter has stopped making a continuous sound and is now just little breaks of a tiny engine of a toy train. Clint is throwing a fit. And your laughter is throwing you back till the arm you have fallen on grabs your back to support that unhinged cackle. No one notices the God's ears turn red when your hand smacks itself on his thigh for the overflowing hilarity. No one but the zoomed-in camera.

The lounge is empty thanks to everyone being out on a mission and with no one but Loki in the facility. Of course, the security team is doing their jobs in some security room but we do not care about that. Loki is sprawled on the sofa, his long stature barely fitting the already huge velvet seating setting. A camera is recording from behind the kitchenette island, panning in slowly to see what Loki is tapping on his phone’s screen. On zooming in further, the camera can finally read the name on top of the chat. V. Loki: How is Greece? V: It’s cool! Lots of white stones, lot of ocean, lots of beautiful babes… Loki: Sounds fun. V: But they don’t have jet sprays and their toilet pipes are too thin for toilet paper business. Major L Loki: …okay. Loki: I have a question for you… V: Shoot. Loki: Does your sister like precious stones? V: You can easily distract her with a colourful pebble bro Loki: …typing V: Or some food Loki: …stops typing V: I can list her favs if you want for $200. Loki: $50
V: Deal

The holographic clock on the wall shows three past twelve on the lounge wall when the camera swerves to the figure of Loki carefully entering the space from the dorms. The camera then turns away and focuses on the light snores coming out of you as you lay haphazardly on the sofa with the TV still running. The God plants himself on the floor next to your face as he whispers a spell into his right palm before putting the hand over your head. The lens records specs of gold originating from his hand to glitter and land onto your hair before seemingly dissolving inside the parts of your head he touched. Loki knowingly smirks at the camera. "My work here is done," he says to the zoomed-in frame as he gets up. The camera catches the shift of your body. Your hand grabs his arm to let your cheek rest onto his palm as you let that side of your face turn towards the sofa. Fear. Loki's eyes show fear for the first time. "Ahh," you whisper, a smile growing on your lips covered in drool, "so cold." The camera shifts between your sleeping figure and Loki's distressed brows as he tries to get his hand out from under your face. “No, Chichi,” you moan in your sleep, making the God pause, “that’s my blanket. Don’t take it away from me.” A deep sigh leaves Loki's lungs as he crosses his legs and sits next to you. Apparently, so does the camera. No matter how often he tries, your grip on his arm strengthens. And so, two hours pass for the God sitting there, given up now as he plays with baby hair strands on your forehead- his sulky face concentrated on turning them into the tiniest pigtails. The camera is already panned in on his face, his smaragdine eyes having a dim glow in the night as he studies your face. Lazily, his eyes move from your brows to your nose, then to your lips. Loki does not realise he has tilted his head, resting it on the little space on the sofa, facing you. The fingers from his free hand are running over the fine lines, the pores, the natural moles over your face, either counting them or giving them a boop. His eyes are locked in on your lips when they part to breathe and his fingers in close proximity of them, having paused just before coming in contact with your lips. His pupils have gone wide, wider than they usually do. His visible ear is turning red. Maybe he realises it too. Because within the next ten seconds, he whips his hand out from under your face and crawls a step back on the floor. His bewildered eyes are looking at you while his mouth is agape with some newfound surprise. Gathering himself- barely- he gets up and furiously walks back into his room. The same camera runs out onto the balcony and past the other rooms to halt outside Loki's French windows. The God has closed the door to have his back stuck to it as he slowly falls down onto the ground with his hands on his mouth in some silent prayer. The camera is zoomed in- enough to have a close look at Loki's face again. "This cannot be happening." the mic on Loki is still on. "How can you even think of her that way, Loki." And apparently, he is speaking to himself. "How can you think of-" he stops mid-sentence as his gaze returns from the infinite void to something closer. The camera pans out of the beautiful face to look at the little familiar box kept on his bed. "Oh, Valhalla-" the camera looks back at Loki- who is still staring at the box as he whispers to the room- "what are these new emotions."

Minutes after you hung up the call, the door of the flat opened. "I am so sorry for being so late. We are having some issues with Loki, and Thor is not on earth, so it is even harder to deal with it." Sophie said, entering the flat exhausted.
"Hello dear, yes, I completely understand. I was on the phone with my law firm this morning, and it seems like they have decided to defend Darth Vader. He was arrested after allegedly committing battery against the Easter Bunny." You laughed at your joke, getting up and hugging her. She punched you on the arm, already frustrated with her day and your lack of empathy.
"It is not funny, babe! You know what, I was speaking with Thor before he left, and we thought it might be a good idea for you to meet Loki. You guys are very similar, and it may give him a better reason to adapt to the city." She responded, annoyed at you for still not believing her.
"Well, thank you for comparing me to a literal terrorist mass murderer Sophie. Of course, I am sure we are two cookies from the same cookie cutter." You responded sarcastically, noticing the saying did not translate quite as well as you hoped.
"He was being controlled by Thanos but whatever. Anyway, I thought this would be the perfect way to prove to you that I work for the Avengers and give you a friend so that you will know somebody else at the party on Saturday. He is also very handsome, tall, dark-haired and well… is a god, so has a god-complex." She smiled at you and continued, "so you are meeting him tomorrow. He is coming to pick up Bjorn."
"Bjorn was supposed to stay with us for five days. That will be barely four." You complained, sitting on the ground to pet the sweet dog.
"Well, that is the new plan. You can see Bjorn again when you visit your new friend Loki or when you finally get to meet the rest of the team." she answered, and you interrupted her again, "I don't have time tomorrow. I have a date with Stephen. We are having dinner together."
She rolled her eyes at you. "I know, and that is why you are having lunch with Loki. He is coming over at 12:30, and you are cooking or ordering something here because we are still working on his public image, re-adjusting people's reaction when seeing him out and about."
"So you are telling me I cannot even go to a nice restaurant and get free lunch because I am eating with a terrorist. This is all ridiculous. This must be some elaborate prank you are planning, Sophie, with this whole Avengers thing. I am going to sleep now. Goodnight." You concluded the conversation, going into the bathroom to brush your teeth and get ready for bed. You were not actually mad at her, just confused at what she was trying to accomplish with this prolonged lie. She had never done this before; lying to each other was really not a thing. That is also why you could not believe she worked for the Avengers. She would have told you earlier; she wouldn't have kept it from you.
You woke up at around 8 a.m. Sophie seemed to be having a more laid-back morning today as she was still at home.
"Good morning, grumpy." She greeted you as soon as you entered the room, grabbing a cup of freshly brewed coffee from the kitchen. "I have cleaned the living room and the kitchen so you guys can have fun today. Remember Loki is coming at 12:30! Open the door for him, or he will probably just teleport inside and be annoyed. If you think you are bad when annoyed, you don't want to see him."
"So let's say Loki, the god of mischief, actually shows up. You are pretty much making me babysit him." You spat out the words annoyed.
"Nope, it is like a play date between two difficult toddlers. Hoping they will balance each other out." She answered nonchalantly.
"Since when am I difficult? I am so confused. You are projecting all of this man's problems on me. I am very charismatic and charming. People like me, Sophie. I also don't kill people." You said, petting Bjorn in the head that had approached you to say good morning.
"Okay then, it is a playdate between a nice toddler and a not-so-nice toddler, hoping the nice toddler will be a good influence." She rolled her eyes at you and continued, "Anyway, I have to get going—a lot to do today. I have a party to organise too now. Have a lovely day, love."
"Please make sure they have Patron XO Cafe at the party, or I am not coming. Have a lovely day! I am gonna miss you!" You said a little nervous about your upcoming - apparently - very eventful day.
Time to figure out a game plan if Loki was going to show up at 12:30 —and that was a big IF. Then you needed him out of the house by five max to start getting ready. Stephen said your reservation was at eight, so he would most likely pick you up at 7:30. At best, you needed to avoid the two men meeting because 1. You didn't want Stephen seeing you hanging out with mass murderers, and 2. You didn't want him thinking you were jumping from one date to the other.
You needed to shower, have breakfast, paint your nails, walk Bjorn, pack Bjorn's things, and do your makeup. Super easy, sure.
As you came out of the shower, you typed a message for Stephen.
Good morning! Here is my address
- shared location -
Let me know what type of place we will go to so I know how to dress appropriately.
Excited to see you tonight xx
You put on a pair of black jeans and a white blouse and started making yourself some food.
"Did Sophie feed you, little Bjorn?" You looked at him as he begged you for more food.
"Oh well, an extra portion won't hurt." You said, petting him and serving him some more.
After you were both done eating, you took his leash and left the building for a walk. The breeze was perfect, and the sun illuminated the streets beautifully. As you were walking back to the apartment, your phone rang.
Incoming Call - Stephen
Sure he liked to talk on the phone a lot more than texting.
"Hello?" You answered
"Good morning! For tonight just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If it helps, you are making me look for my old button-downs and some suit pants." His voice put a smile on your face.
"Oh, so no fancy-monk-like clothes today? Sad, I thought they were nice." You joked, although you actually thought he looked very nice in the attractive clothes he was wearing the other day.
"I think I am going for something better than nice." He answered flirtatiously, "also, I am sorry for calling you. I am just not a great texter. Hope that is okay." Stephen told you, leaving out the reason why he struggled typing.
"It's alright. I like phone calls more than texts anyway." You lied, kind of; you enjoyed hearing his voice. "I guess it is also a generational thing. It makes sense you prefer phone calls." You insinuated your age difference jokingly.
"Oh wow, are you calling me old?" He asked, chuckling at your confidence.
"I would never do such a thing, Doctor." You bit your lip and shook your head. It was embarrassingly obvious the effect he had on you.
"Oh well, I will see you tonight. I will pick you up around 7:30" He chuckled again, smiling at himself.
"Till later, Doctor." You hung up the phone, and with a new spring in your step, you walked home excited about your date.
Once home, you looked at the clock, 10 a.m. You started cleaning the flat a little better, making sure it looked decent. You were not sure what you would eat, but the fridge was grimly empty, so you would have to go to the supermarket with the murderer anyway. Sophie's words echoed in your head, "discretion". You guessed you would just order something for delivery.
You felt a little nervous, maybe it was meeting somebody new, or perhaps it was that you could still not believe Sophie worked with the Avengers. No matter what, the fact that your friend felt comfortable inviting a criminal to hang out alone with you bothered you. He could kill you, and you could not even defend yourself.
You sat on the couch grabbing your copy of Pride and Prejudice, looking for some inspiration for your date tonight. Elizabeth Bennet's wittiness was almost contagious, and Stephen was just as stoic as Mr Darcy, although a lot nicer since the start.
You were unsure where the time went, but you looked back at the clock. Already 11:40. You did your makeup for the day, painted your nails red, then wondered if your outfit was appropriate, you decided to keep the black jeans on but change into a black top. You put socks on and then went to the kitchen to drink water.
You were about to sit down when the intercom rang. You lifted the phone to your ear and looked at the camera, speechless. That was the god of mischief himself, looking back at you.
"Hello? Can you let me in?" He spoke up, confused. You clicked the key button that opened the main door and then ran full speed to the bathroom to check you actually looked decent. Although a murderer, the fact that he was about to enter your house meant that Sophie actually did work with the Avengers and that you were gonna meet them eventually. Better not fuck this up.
You heard a firm knock at the door and walked towards it; however, Bjorn was already going crazy scratching at it, smelling the familiar smell of the god of mischief.
You opened the door and were met with a slim tall man with his hair slicked back wearing an entirely black suit and a button-down. He looked at you for a split second before being jumped on by Bjorn. The smell of his cologne was pungent and intoxicating.
"You little monster. Thor needs to train you better." He spoke, petting him and greeting him. He looked up at you again and added with a smug smile, "Hello, you must be Sophie's friend. I am Loki of Asgard."
"Uhm… yeah, hello… come in," you answered, letting him walk in while he grabbed Bjorn's collar so he could go in with him. He sat on the couch, and Bjorn stayed by his legs. His presence filled you with a foreign bitterness, you see monsters on tv, but you never imagine meeting them.
You were staring, making the situation so much more awkward than necessary. "Do you want something to drink?" You finally snapped out of it, trying to be a polite host. There was a subtle but present coldness in your tone. He expected the prejudice but you were truly terrible at regulating your expression as your features gave away your slight disgust.
"Yes, please, what do you have?" You opened the wine fridge. The choice was between a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Pinot Noir that you had brought from England.
"Red or white wine? Water?" He got up and stood behind you, uncomfortably close for somebody you had exchanged one sentence with. Although you could not fully see him, you could feel the size of his body dwarfing your presence, forcing you to hold your breath for a second, hyperaware of his proximity.
"I'll take the Pinot Noir. We should let it aerate," he responded, whispering it close to your ear. You grabbed the bottle of wine and closed the fridge door after he stepped away. Sophie had a lot of explaining to do, especially if she told a literal terrorist that he was free to flirt with you.
You opened the bottle, poured it into the decanter, and then stood there looking at the counter, thinking about how you could open up a conversation with somebody who disgusted you. Somebody that had killed so many yet stood here, free.
"So you have been taking care of my brother's dog, thank you for that. I am sure he will be happy to thank you himself on Saturday. Are you excited to meet the Avengers? It must be exhilarating for a common Midgardian. You must question your inconsequential existence when meeting beings so much greater than you, like myself." He spoke the offensive words in such a charming tone that its cacophony made it even more insulting.
"Yes, I am excited to meet the team that stopped you from killing even more people." You answered in the same charming tone, ignoring the demeaning comment, grabbing two wine glasses and coasters, and bringing the decanter to the coffee table.
You served a glass and gave it to him. Then filled yourself one too and sat on the opposite end of the couch, positioning your body away from his.
He ignored your comment and said, "well, your friend has a lovely flat. I don't understand why she spends so much time doing whatever Stark wants her to do. She is like his little puppy."
"Most people need to work to afford a 'lovely flat'. Not everyone is born a god within a royal family. You must be confused, but life for most people comes with prices and consequences." This man had come to your house to insult you and your friend. "If I may ask, why are you here? You obviously believe yourself above 'common Midgardians'. Why did you join the Avengers? Tired of being an angsty terrorist?" You spat out the words, looking at him.
"Well, yes, I believe I am above mere ephemeral mortal lives as a god. For the same reason, however, I shall try to protect them. I am looking for my glorious purpose, which may be saving lives like yours." He answered, uninterested in your jabs. "If you mean why I am here today. I am here because my brother has a soft spot for your friend, and they believe we may get along, which has clearly been a grotesque misalignment."
"Well, if that is your position, I don't believe it has been my fault. I was not the one to insult you first." You answered.
"I could feel it in your predisposition when you first saw me. You were never interested in giving me a chance but don't worry. It is a common misconception. You will regret it eventually." He smirked at you, taking a sip from his glass, letting the red liquid coat his lips. It made such a stark difference with his pale skin. Although he looked human, a certain perfection in his skin made your chest tight. He seemed too perfect, his features so clear, the image of how a man wishes to look, unachievable. It made you slightly uneasy how the darkness of his hair contrasted with the fairness of his skin, all extremes. His features seemed to know no compromise or middle ground. You assumed a trait that translated into his character. His eyes moved back to your face as he noticed you staring once again.
You broke the silence, answering his comment that, although true, was highly unwarranted. "How perceptive, I highly doubt that. Anyway, what would you like to eat? You are here to eat lunch, right?" You asked him as you walked back toward the kitchen counter. He followed you with his eyes, analysing every movement of your body.
"What should I call you? I have been told you are not a fan of your name." The question seemed innocent enough, but it still ticked you off. How much had Sophie told this asshole about you?
"You can call me Midgardian, given my lack of uniqueness and importance." You smiled at him "now I will only ask once again. What would you like to eat?"
He smiled cheekily. You could not believe him. "We can cook something. You lived for a while in Italy, right? Show me your cooking skills," he spoke, getting up and sipping the last of his wine.
You walked to the small store next to your building with Loki. He was ridiculously tall, easily keeping up with your quick pace. His black suit made him look even more monumental and stoic, forcing you to stand even straighter to avoid feeling intimidated.
You started hatting with the store owner as you were choosing the ingredients. You picked up just enough things to make some Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca and another bottle of red wine. Loki offered to pay, but you refused. He, however, placed a hand on your shoulder and moved you out of the way, paying anyway.
"I can pay, you know? I also have a 'pathetic' job like Sophie. I don't need you to pay with your probably counterfeit money." You declared, walking away with your tote bag back towards the apartment.
"You would be surprised how easy it is to accumulate money on earth when you have been alive for more than a thousand years." He smiled at you, "you are cooking, so I ought to contribute somehow."
The two of you got back to the flat and started cooking. Loki sat on the couch with Bjorn petting him lovingly. You were surprised he liked the dog. You would not expect him to show affection to anyone, especially not to such a needy sweet animal as the big golden retriever. Later, you would find out it was Loki himself to have gifted Bjorn to Thor.
He served you both another glass of wine and brought it to you. "Can I play some music?" He asked politely.
"Go ahead. The Flat has a sound system so just connect to it." You answered as you prepared the sauce. He grabbed his phone and connected it to the speakers.
Handel's Sarabande in D Minor suddenly started playing, forcing you to look up to the god. He was already looking at you with a cheeky smile planted on his lips. "Is this okay?"
"Yes, it is fine." You answered, confused on whether this may just be a further coincidence or something else Sophie had spoken to him about. You started to think about all your evenings spent listening to this song while preparing for exams.
You were brought back to reality by the intense burning feeling on your finger. You looked down and saw you had cut it. Moving your hand up to your face, you inspected the damage. It burnt, and the blood was dripping down your hand.
You moved quickly towards the bathroom, grabbing a small hand towel to apply pressure. Loki seemed to sense there was something wrong. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, no problem. I just cut myself. No big deal." You responded, putting pressure on your finger with the towel. He grabbed your hand without hesitation and removed the towel. Holding your finger in front of him, he whispered a word or two, and once you looked at it again, your cut was gone.
"That is much better." He said, pressing a soft kiss on the healed spot. For a second, just for a second, you saw some humanity in him. He let go of your hand and looked down at you "how frail and meagre can humans be at times." The background sound of Rhapsody of a Theme by Paganini made his words so much more poetic yet hurtful.
You stepped away from him and went back to cooking. He stood there "you know a thank you would not hurt."
"Thank you."
The food was ready soon after. You served the plates, and Loki poured you another glass of wine, your third glass. You sat at the table across from Loki, and he lowered the music to mere background noise.
"I did not mean to insult you. I am just amazed at how delicate humans can be. Maybe that is why we should protect them." He said, breaking the silence.
"Let me know what you think of the food." You ignored his previous comment, unwilling to see his words any other way than offensive. He tried the pasta, and a small moan escaped his lips. You could not help but smile.
"This is superb! I am glad I asked you to cook, and we did not get takeout," he complimented you as you looked at your watch. It was already 3:30. Between the shopping, the cooking, and the small talk, time had gone very quickly.
"So you were saying earlier, your brother has a weakness for Sophie." You smirked as you thought about the possibility of your friend getting with the god of thunder.
"Well, as much as he has a weakness for all humans. He finds the fragility and simplicity amusing, entertaining, almost inviting. But yeah, actually, he does have a particular inclination for Sophie." You thought how redundant his answer was, unnecessarily wordy. He seemed to have a flair for the dramatic and a necessity to overcomplicate things.
"Would you say he fancies her?" You pushed the question.
"She is a beautiful girl. I don't see why not." He looked at you analysing your reaction.
"I did not think you could see beauty." You giggled as the wine started to hit your system, letting even the slightest shade of decorum abandon you. "Have you fancied anyone on earth?" You asked, trying to open a friendly conversation finally.
"Not particularly. You are perfectly tolerable but not enough to tempt me if that is what you are referring to." Your mouth opened in disbelief. That was not your intention or what you were trying to say. "So you are a lawyer? You are pretty judgmental for a lawyer. I suppose you like to play the devil's advocate, but you don't enjoy having lunch with him." His nonchalant tone made it difficult for you to focus on the words, lost in the poetic tonality of his sentences. He enjoyed the game, the teasing and judging, but you would not give in.
"You sound so proud of your actions. I am glad to know your redemption is just a facade," you responded.
"I embrace my past, and I accept it. There is not such a thing as good or bad. We are all shades of grey in-between. The dangerous people are people like you, pet, that believe to be so good and pure. You are no better than me. I just don't excuse my actions." He looked at you seriously, and you had to look away, feeling the bitter truth of his words feel your mouth.
You did not speak again, finishing your food. As soon as he had also finished, you picked up the plates and put them in the dishwasher. He asked if he could help, but you did not give him the pleasure of an answer. Gnossienne No. 1 played in the background as you could see his eyes following you around the room. For somebody simply tolerable, you did make him turn his head a lot.
The wine had you feeling so warm with anger. How disrespectful could a man be? Insinuating that you are seeking his compliments or his partiality. You would rather choke than ever be partial to him, a murderer, a narcissist, and an asshole.
He opened the wine fridge and grabbed the second bottle of wine. "Another glass?" He asked, looking for the corkscrew.
"I am done drinking, thank you." You answered coldly, continuing to clean the kitchen.
"Do you have plans later tonight or what?" He said, grabbing the corkscrew after putting his hand on your waist and moving you just so slightly to the right to gain access to it. The feeling of his hand on your body came unexpectedly, forcing you to hold your breath once again, scared that his touch could somewhat break you. His hand was big but delicate as he touched, lingering just a second too long against your shirt.
You turned around, annoyed by his behaviour "I do indeed, I have a date, so if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would leave soon so I can get ready."
"I can help you choose an outfit", he joked as he served himself another glass of wine.
"There is no opinion I would care less about than yours. I know what I am gonna wear already, and if I don't start getting ready soon, I will be late for company that I actually enjoy." You lied as you had no idea what to wear yet.
"Well, then go on and put on the dress? I am guessing you are going to wear a dress at least. I wanna see how you dress for a man you are partial to." Was he drunk? What was he doing?
"I think you should leave."
"I think you want to show me, but you are scared I won't fall to my knees like every other mortal man and then you'll be upset again."
"Again?" You asked, almost screaming
"Yes, like when I called you perfectly tolerable. You cannot stand the idea that somebody may not fall for your wittiness and looks. The way you believe people will just fall for your charming little smile is pathetic." He answered as he moved closer to you. "So go on, if you don't care about my opinion, go put on whatever dress you will use and be okay with me looking unfazed."
You were unsure whether it was the wine or his shitty personality, but you wanted to prove him wrong. You wanted to cause a reaction from him. You knew this was just a game for him to see you getting all hot and bothered trying to please him.
You were not gonna give in and let him see how bothered his comments made you. "I don't care about your opinion Odinson. You seem to be the one that needs to prove to himself that a Midgardian cannot resist his charms. I don't wanna play your games, now leave."
He drank the wine from his glass in one big gulp and then grabbed your hip with his free hand, moving his face towards your ear. "Whatever you prefer, pet, I know tonight you may be sitting in front of your date, but all you will be thinking about is whether I would have liked your dress or not. Enjoy your night out. I'll see you on Saturday."
You moved away from him and grabbed Bjorn's bag and his leash. You gave him a couple of kisses and pets. "I am gonna miss you, big boy. I am sorry I am letting you go with this ass. I will visit you soon." You handed the leash to Loki, who smiled at you.
You walked away as soon as he opened the door to leave. You had more important things to worry about than this condescending asshole. He was not deserving of even a goodbye.
You heard the door close and the music disconnect. You had not noticed it had been playing in the background this whole time.
You looked down at your watch, 5 p.m. Right on time.

Collared outtakes
During the writing of chapter 6 Collared I had a whole complicated moment of trying to figure out how to make one of the scenes work, which meant a bit of PoV change temporarily. I tried to make it work for the whole chapter, but wound up figuring out how to keep it in Tony's PoV, so here are some of the partial (unedited) scenes I wrote before-hand.
Please note, despite these scenes being written for chapter 6, they actually contain spoilers for chapter 8 - which is part of why things got swapped about.
Enjoy some Loki trauma!
There had been a lot of days in his life he would've considered bad days. There were plenty of weeks he would've considered bad weeks. There were even a handful of months he would've considered bad months.
This month definitely ranked highly.
"The biggest problem with Sakaar is going to be finding the Grandmaster to begin with. Whatever plans we have hinge on locating him, by the sound of it, and trying to form any kind of concrete plan without knowing that is going to be difficult."
Across the table in the galley sat Stark, continuing to look as though he'd been bitten by something venomous given the looks he was giving. Beside him, Stephen spoke as eloquently as ever, seemingly unbothered by his master's proximity. Thor was participating in the conversation from the cockpit more than anything as they worked their way through an asteroid field that made the Sköll rock uncomfortably.
"Yes, I imagine that is going to be an issue," Loki agreed, trying his absolute best to ignore the mark Stark had left. His temper had never been a great thing to begin with, but Stark really was pushing the absolute boundary of what he could tolerate. "Reconnaissance will be required, which I expect will be left to me."
"Dunno why you have it in your head that you're gonna be trusted with that. They know you there, right? That's the whole point of why you're going?"
Loki schooled his features carefully, before shifting to look back at Stark with his own face. "Luckily, I'm considerably better at costuming than my brother."
He took some slight pleasure from Stark's obvious discomfort, though the tap to his ankle from under the table kept him from lingering in the form for any longer. Returning to his Asgardian form easily, he shrugged a shoulder.
"Of course, if you're determined to do a thorough reconnaissance of a planet you've never been to, among people you don't know, with no real idea where to start… well, I welcome you to impress me."
"I'm getting real tired of your attitude," the man muttered under his breath, not nearly quiet enough to go unheard. Stephen nudged the man with an elbow, and Loki's teeth nearly clamped down on his tongue as he kept himself from responding the way he wanted to.
Instead he offered a poisonously friendly smile to the man.
"That's incredibly productive of you, Stark. Thank you so very much for your brilliant addition to this conversation."
"Would the two of you stop it already?" Stephen sighed, leaning back into the cloak's comfortable hold. "None of us wants to be here right now. We all have better things to do with our lives–"
Loki once again bit back his response, though Stark, to his credit, verbalized much of what he would have said.
"I don't have anything better to do with my life than protect people I care about, Doc. I wouldn't be here if that were the case. I'm just sick as hell of–"
"I know you are." Stephen turned toward Stark, and Loki folded his arms to watch them. "You wanna know what I'm sick of? This." He tugged pointedly at the collar. Stark was abruptly mollified.
"I'm sick of not sleeping in my own bed. I'm sick of not being able to talk to my friends. I'm sick of everyone having to worry, watch their words, and cater to me so that I'm not literally, physically sick. I'm sick of not being able to express myself, or look you in the eye when I'm talking to you. I'm sick of not knowing how my relationships with people will stand when - or if - this thing ever comes off. I'm sick of my ability to be comfortable being based on your mood at any given time. Loki is at least making an effort not to start a fight, and as hard as this is on you - something I'm not discounting in the slightest - starting shit with him isn't helpful."
Stark dropped his gaze to the table, and despite understanding where Stephen came from and his own issues with Stark, he still found himself feeling for the man. Being on the receiving end of Stephen's disappointment was never a good feeling, and Stark clearly harboured feelings for him.
Taking sympathy on the man, Loki spoke up as calmly as he could manage in an attempt to redirect the conversation.
"This ship you've built, how much information will it be able to gather from the planet's surface?"
Stephen looked over at him, and Loki was surprised that the gratitude in the sorcerer's eyes seemed echoed, if only mildly, in Stark's when he looked up again.
"If we're over the planet long enough, I can get a pretty detailed scan of the terrain and buildings. Depending on the planet's composition, and the materials things are made of, I may be able to get further information about caves or underground systems, maybe even building layouts."
"Being over the planet isn't going to be an option." He answered Stark's puzzled expression before the man even spoke. "The sky is full of a series of wormholes, and our entry will be through one of those rather than from orbit."
"... That'll make a subtle entry more challenging. And I don't know how much wormholes might mess with the sensors. I'll have to recalibrate to make sure they'll be prepared."
"What about on your suit?"
"Pardon?" Stark looked at him with confusion for a moment, but even as Loki watched he saw the way the man's eyes lit up as he caught on. "Yeah. Yeah, that might work. I don't need to be in orbit, should be able to detect life signs as well, so if the guy's in hiding…"
He leaned back in his seat, his mind being given something to focus on that he was willing to latch on to. It was fascinating to watch, really, and familiar in a way. While Thor's moments of sudden clarity tended to come with loud noises - a hand hitting the table, or an abrupt 'ah-ha!' - the sudden light in Stark's eyes more resembled Stephen's moments of understanding. Bright, engaged, and focused.
Stark tapped his fingers against the table quietly in thought, and there was an energy about him as though he wanted to get up and move. That was where they differed. When Stephen's mind was most active, his body seemed especially still and quiet. Based on what information he had, he imagined that stillness came from his former position as a surgeon - a distinct level of precision was required that could mean the difference between life and death.
He wasn't surprised that this was a man Stephen called 'friend'.
"Once we do find him, what are we expecting?" Stephen inquired, turning his attention to Loki.
"An asshole who thinks he's a kind and generous ruler," Loki sighed. He didn't need to look at Stark to know the look the man was giving him. "His mood can be challenging to read and even his good moods may mean death."
"I once saw him smile as he melted a man," Thor called from the cockpit. "The smell was unbelievable…"
"Ah. That doesn't bode well," Stephen frowned. "Though, I was more inquiring as to your full plan. From what I've gathered you'd like to go into this pretending as though you're my master, and you'd like to release me from this…?"
"No," Loki clarified, settling into a more familiar rhythm with the sorcerer. "While the plan is to act as your master, my intention is to convince him I recieved you without full instructions."
Pulling a sheet from a pocket dimension with a flourish, he slid it over to Stark. "The translation of what's written on the collar. As you can see, it mostly discusses the particular settings the collar is in. When it rotates as things change, the words do as well."
"You only just thought to give me this?" Stark barked at him, taking the sheet from the table quickly.
"I only just finished translating it earlier today. No need to thank me or anything." Oh he was once again doing his best to get on Loki's last nerve.
~~~~~~~As far as I wrote of that scene... now on to the Grandmaster~~~~~
“Hm… I can’t say I see the uh… appeal. But those eyes. I could just pluck those right out of your head and I know someone who would dearly love them. Imagine the things they’ve seen…”
“I would thank you not to damage my property,” Loki responded bluntly, “I happen to prefer that he knows where to go.”
“Curious, curious. You see, though, uh… there’s a slight… tiny little hiccup with all of this.” The Grandmaster nodded, turning away from Stephen to tuck his hands behind his back with the same small smile on his face that had always felt like greasy fingers down Loki’s spine. “A… problem, if you will.”
He had come expecting this. Of course nothing would come for free, and there would be a cost to this request. Now it was time to find out what it was. “Yes?”
“Property cannot own property,” the Grandmaster stated simply. Loki did his best to school his features into neutrality, simply raising an eyebrow at the man.
“I’m not sure I follow. You will recall, I have been released of my servitude.”
“Oh, no, darling no. You’ve been released of your collar. But no collar will ever accept you as a master.” Loki was certain he should have moved away. He had actively instructed himself to. His brain screamed for it. Habit pinned his feet to the ground as the Grandmaster cupped the side of his head in mock-affection. “A lack of collar doesn’t make you any less property.”
Loki’s mouth opened to protest before a scarred, shaking hand caught the Grandmaster’s wrist and dragged it away from him. He could feel the energy from the collar and immediately knew that Stephen had to be in agony, but he couldn't make himself move.
The Grandmaster's face twisted into a smile that felt like a fish hook in his gut, looking at the hand holding his wrist and then at the man attached to that hand.
"Willful, aren't you? I uh… I remember someone else being… oh what's the word? Ah, stubborn. Of course. You leave too much slack on the leash and they think they can get away with anything. But my, those eyes are intense, aren't they?"
He wished his mind would focus. He couldn't make himself turn his head to look at Stephen, afraid to take his eyes off of the Grandmaster. Stephen couldn't speak, he knew that had run its course already, and yet the Grandmaster responded to all the speaking his body language was doing.
"I simply touched him and you would go to all these lengths? Oh you're angry, how quaint." The man took two steps forward, and Loki's head followed the movement as the Grandmaster moved closer into Stephen's space.
"I think I can imagine what has you all worked up, but uh… shall I guess?"
"I don't think that's necessary," Loki managed around the lump in his throat, reaching his own hand out to touch Stephen's hand. "Release him."Stephen's expression was stony, though all the tendons in his neck were being made clear with the pain he was in. He did, however, release the Grandmaster's wrist at Loki's request, gritting his teeth further. Loki continued to feel the energy of the collar, trying his best not to break under the realization that he wasn’t free. He’d never be free of this man. He’d never be free again.
~~~~~~~Yeah, I figured out how to handle it about when I reached this point.~~~~~~~

Hey besties! I need your help! First off, I need some requests! Secondly, I need a name for my fan base. But moving onto the good stuff, part 3 is finished and I’m so proud of it. I’m so thankful to have such an amazing audience. Thanks to anyone that reads!!
Word count: 1150
Warnings: Talk of syringes, a few cuss words, restraining, mentions of child abuse/ neglect, and Loki being an ass. (Nothing against him, I love Loki.)
Please excuse any typos/spelling/grammatical errors I wrote this during a lecture at school :p
In Hiding, part 3/?
Tumblr media
Parts one and two links:
You were finally out of the compound, and you were running faster than you ever had. You climbed up countless trees and jumped from branch to branch, just trying to get as far away from the compound as you could. You didn’t know where you were and had no way of finding your way back to New York City.
——————————
It’s been 3 hours of constant running. At least you think it’s been 3 hours… You’ve finally found a tree to rest in. You shift into a stick to blend in. Unfortunately, you are a blue stick, but you were too tired to care.
Slowly, you drifted off into a deep slumber
—————Avengers POV—————
“We’re not stupid; she’s got a tracker. She’s stopped about 5 miles Northeast.” Bruce announces to the team.
“So when do we get her?” Natasha wonders aloud.
“I’m thinking night; the sun sets in about 2 hours…” Steve replies.
“It’s when she’ll least expect it,” Buck adds.
“Since she’s been running nonstop for about 3 hours, she’s probably asleep. We should go now, so she doesn’t wake before nightfall.” Says Tony.
“I don’t know, Tony. She’s probably pretty tuckered out. It’ll be harder for her to attack in the dark.” Natasha counters.
“She’s a shapeshifter; the kid probably has night-vision or something.” Tony murmurs.
“He's got a point, guys,” Bruce notes.
“We’ll take a vote. Say “aye” to go now, “nay” to go at night.” Steve says. “All in favor of now?”
“Aye,” Tony.
“Aye, ” Bruce.
“Aye, ” Loki.
“Aye, ” Peter.
“Aye, ” Wanda.
“Aye, ” Vision.
“Aye, ” Thor.
“That everyone?” Steve questions. A few nods are the reply. “Ok, how about people who think we should go at night?”
“Nay, ” Natasha.
“Nay, ” Clint.
“Nay, ” Steve.
“Nay, ” Bucky.
“Ha! We're going now. You all have 3 minutes to get what you need. Meet on the Quinjet.” Tony announces.
Clint moans but turns to get his things.
“You sure we got her this time?” Bruce asks Tony, turning to him.
“Now we know what she can do. The kid’s powerful, but there's one of her and ten of us. She's also asleep; we've got the upper hand.”
“But she can-”
“We’ll be fine.”
—————Your POV—————
Flashback Dream
You were five again and back with HYDRA, tied to a chair, various syringes with God only knows what inside to your right.
You were trying to get away; you struggled against the grip of the ropes, but, to no avail, you weren't getting anywhere.
In walked three men, dressed in white lab coats. One was gruff and bald, the 2nd was taller and buff, the last man, was short and plump and cowered behind the other two.
“This is her? She's smaller than I hoped. I doubt she’ll survive.” One spoke loudly.
Not survive what? Tears began to drip down your face.
“I hate children.” Another one of them hissed before swiftly stepping forward and slapping you. “Shut up, vermin.” He seethed.
You stopped crying and whimpered.
“Weak.” The first man jeered.
“The first dose is ready, sir.” The 3rd man whispered.
“I’m excited to see what it does!” The 2nd man grabbed one of the syringes and forced it into your arm.
Almost immediately, you felt a burning sensation; white stars clouded your vision, and your entire body began to tingle, and then your eyesight was gone.
Startled awake, you found yourself face to face with Loki again.
“Hello there.” He grinned.
Frightened, you fell from your tree-top perch. You hit the ground with a thud, and were met by nine more faces, who you noted were more avengers. You were so screwed.
As fast as you could, you created clones and shifted them into the people before you.
“That’s not going to work this time!” Loki called down from the tree.
Clint hastily shot all of your clones, and you were left defenseless, but you weren’t about to give up. You tried to shift into an ant to hide, but you couldn’t turn. Damn it! They had predicted your every move. You were a goner.
You were paralyzed, not by Loki but by fear. You began to shake violently and cry. This is where it all ended.
“Uhhhhh… kid?” Tony calls out to you, lifting his mask. “You good?”
You continued to cry; you wouldn't dare speak.
“Grab her..?” Wanda suggests, pointing at you.
“Oh. Uh, yeah.” Steve steps towards you.
You attempt to wither away, but you are frozen. You continue to shake; sobs rack your body.
You're picked up bridal style by Steve and carried back to the Quinjet. You're limp in his arms and quiet, tears stain your cheeks, and your eyes are bright red.
“Finally, she stopped crying. It was annoying.” Bucky jeers.
“She, a kid! Don't be so insensitive.” Wanda retorts.
You're legs and hands are cuffed once more, and you're strapped tightly into a seat.
You've regained all of your senses, and now you're angry. Angry at yourself for letting this happen, angry at the Avengers for capturing you, especially angry at HYDRA for making you like this, and mad at your parents for selling you to evil people.
Thinking about it, you're infuriated. A spark is a newfound spark that ignites inside of you, and suddenly you're growling lowly.
Ten faces turn to you and stare. You lift your head and bear fangs. It took all of your energy to fight against Lokis's magic and shift even such a small part of yourself.
“You don’t give up, huh? Foolish.” Loki looks up at you and grins. “Oh well, all the more fun for me!” He taunts.
Your restraints are tightened, and your fangs dissolve in your mouth. Loki gets up and moves towards you.
“Giving up now, foolish girl?” He says as he grabs your jaw and jerks your face up, forcing your eyes to meet his.
In response, you narrow your eyes. The restraints tighten even more, and you're beginning to have trouble breathing.
“That's enough, Loki,” Thor yells from his seat. “Sit down.”
Loki looks up from you, rolls his eyes, but lets go of you. He looks back down to you as he's walking away, smirks, and loosens your restraints. You heave as you try to regain your breath, and the Avengers stare at you.
You're angered once more, but now you know the repercussions. You’re really fucked now.
“It’s going to be 30 more minutes!” Steve calls from the front of the jet.
30 minutes until the rest of your life is decided. Better savor them, as they may be your last. Wondering what happens next? You’ll have to read part 4, hopefully coming out tomorrow!
Thanks again for all the support, I’m so happy I get the privilege to write for such an amazing and kind audience! My requests are still open, and I really, really need people to send in requests. Thanks again, everyone! Have an amazing night/day and thanks for reading!!

WARNINGS: Mentions of death
Summary: Loki fakes his death and disappears for a year, then suddenly shows up
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Ever since what happened to Loki, I was devastated to say the least. I distanced myself from the avengers and pretty much everyone else. Though they would come to visit me every now and then, it was no use. I wouldn’t even bother to answer the door whenever it rang.
The only person I felt comfort around was the Thor. Maybe it was the trauma we shared or how much we both loved Loki, I wasn’t really sure, but nonetheless, he was there. Visiting morning and night to check up on me. On this particular day, they had a mission, meaning I would be left alone, which he was hesitant about.
“I’ll be fine”, I assured,
He gives me another hug.
“Never said I would be”, he replied,
My heart ached at his words, but eventually he had to depart. I decided to go back to sleep, since it was still very early in the morning, when I was awoken by my house bell. I groan and slump out of bed to answer it. I opened the door…and there he stood. At my front door, drenched in the pouring rain, the only man I ever loved. A year after his ‘death’.
The God of Mischief took steps fowards, as I took steps back, still not able to comprehend what was happening, if it was even happening at all. This could easily be another hallucination or dream, the kind I wasn’t unfamiliar with. He proceeds to spend the next hour explaining exactly what happened in Asgard and where he was hiding all this time.
“I’m so sorry, please look at me”, he pleaded,
I turn to him with tear-filled eyes that threatened to spill down my cheeks. His shoulders drop at the sight. He knew I was hurt…he just didn’t know how much.
“You left me”, I say,
Clenching my jaw. Loki felt as if a knife was plunged into his chest and fired burned at the back of his throat.
“I thought you were dead”, I added,
“I know-”, he says,
Advancing forward.
“No!”, I warn,
Putting my hand in front of me and holding him back with my powers.
“You promised me that you would never lie to me or leave me behind…but you ended up doing both”
He swallowed thickly.
“So many sleepless nights, crying alone in my room, begging you to come back”, my voice gives out at the end of my sentence,
My bottom lip quivering as I spoke. I could tell he was struggling to hold back tears, as mine own started to pour.
“…blaming myself for not being able to save you”, I choke on the bitter words,
As he closed his eyes, the tears made their way down his cheekbone, before hitting the wooden floor.
“How could you do that to me?”, my shaky tone adding salt to his wound,
He looks down at his feet, not daring to meet my dejected gaze.
“You betrayed me”, I say,
A moment of silence passed, before I put my hand down and releasing him from my powers’ grasp. He finally looks into my eyes, slowly walking towards me.
“(Y/N)…”, he cupped my face in his,
To which I recoiled at first, but the second his palms met my cheeks, I gave in. His touch was so familiar, I couldn’t help it. I might have forgotten the feeling of his hands, but my body hasn’t.
“It was never my intention to hurt you”, he explained,
I scoff, looking away.
“It’s true, please listen to me”, the god of mischief pleaded,
My eyes meet his once more.
“I did what I had to”, he continued,
“With me being dead, Hela wouldn’t need to hurt you to get to me…I did it to keep you out of harm’s way”
He was trying to escape his sister, as she reeked havoc on Asgard.
“But I’m here now”, he assured,
I stayed silent for a moment.
“How do I know you’re not gonna up and leave again?”, I questioned,
He uses his powers to display his pov of Hela getting killed by Surtur. As I watched the ordeal go down, I felt his arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me closer to him.
“We’re safe now”.

Peter Parker’s field trip part 2
March 7th
Peter's POV
I woke up peacefully to Friday playing Highway to Hell and telling me it was 6:30am and I needed to get up for school. Concerned for Wade's sleeping I quickly told Friday to be quiet and that I was up, I obviously didn't want to wake him at such a cruel hour.
Stumbling out of my room in a sleep filled haze, almost walking into the door frame and tripping over my shoes, I made my way to the kitchen to find Pops trying to cook breakfast and silently arguing with Thor who put his hammer in front of the fridge yet again, Loki really is a bad influence on the God.
"Uncle Thor please move the hammer so I can have breakfast. Please." I requested giving him my puppy dog eyes knowing he can't resist them.
With a small grunt Thor moved his hammer and set it on top of the kitchen counter out of people way. Pops sent me a grateful look before pulling eggs, milk and cheese out of the fridge to make Captain America's famous omelette. I smiled slightly and moved to sit on one of the bar stools at the island counter and watched slowly as all the Avengers plus Loki, T'Challa and Shuri were woken up by the amazing smell. All but my boyfriend who could probably sleep through an earthquake, hurricane and tsunami all at once. It's a gift.
-1 hour later-
After breakfast I got ready to just come back here, grabbed my back, kissed my now awake boyfriend goodbye, hugged my Dads goodbye and made my way to the car with Happy prepared to take me to school. On the way Happy gave me a lecture on how I was basically representing Dad and SI so I should be on my best behaviour. It was boring and in all honest, I'd heard it before on the field trip to the zoo we have last month, that didn't end well in all honesty. It's better left saying some monkeys escaped and it totally wasn't my fault.
"Right Kid. We're hear, I'll pick you up tomorrow from here so message me when you're on your way back to school." He told me, I could tell he was going to miss me but I could also tell he was looking forward to the extra one hours sleep he was going to get tomorrow from not needing to drop me off.
"Bye Happy. Tell everyone I'll miss them. See you tomorrow and I'll give regular update and text you if anything happens." I told him before exiting the car and walking up to Ned who was waiting outside the bus ready for me.
"Hey man. You looking forward to the surprise field trip?" Ned asked as we stepped onto the bus.
"Not really. I'm gonna miss everyone at the tower. Wade arrived last night as well so I'm not gonna see him for like another two days." I sighed as we sat down next to each other in the middle of the bus.
"Hey penis. I know what the field trip is and you're gonna be in so much shit." Flash tainted as he passed us.
"Steve wouldn't be happy with your language." I mumbled so only Ned heard. We both giggled a little but everyone was soon quietened down by Mrs Robbins shouting at us.
"Okay so before we leave we must take role call to see who's here." She explained and started reading names off of her sheet. Everyone responded with a simple yes miss and everything was going well until she got to my name.
"Patricia Parker!" She yelled and looked directly at me. I simply ignored it and continued to stare out of the window until she shouted it again louder.
"Come on Penis just answer. Don't try and stall this." Flash huffed from the back of the bus.
"Fine. Peter Parker is here." I told her emphasising the work 'Peter'.
"What ever." She grumbled going back to role call.
-30 minutes later-
As we were driving I noticed a lot of places, it took a few seconds until it finally clicked as to where we were going. Stark Industries. Over night. Oh dear.
“Right kids. We're going to be there in roughly 5 minutes so please get you begs sorted, make sure your areas are clean and you have everything with you." Mrs Robbins told us from the front of the bus.
"I bet you'd recognise this way from your internship, if it was real." Flash sneered as if it was going to affect me.
Soon we pulled into the visitor parking lot and exited the car. I was slightly shaking with anxiety especially when Happy and two other security guards, Johnson and Stone (I don't know their first names) walked over to us and started running through the security guidelines.
"And finally and type of bullying or intolerance towards anyone inside this building with not be tolerated and the person doing it will be kicked out immediately. That could be in 10 minutes or at 2:00 in the morning. It will not be tolerated." Happy finished giving me a look that said 'I know something you don't know I know'. Shit.
"Okay now that that is out of the way with, follow us." Happy said leading us inside the lobby of the building by swiping his security card.
“Okay we're gonna give you all access passes. These are the lowest of the 10 levels you get get so basically all you can use them for is the toilet. We have a strict no re-printing policy and a display policy. In other words you must always have your pass on display on your outer most layer of clothing, if it's lost then you will be searched and escorted out of the building if it is not found. Let that be a warning to everyone." Johnson explained as Stone started handing out the passes, glossing over me, Ned and MJ of course, until everyone had them.
Me, Ned and MJ all had to pull out our avenger themed cards. Mine was half and half Iron Man and Captain America cause there my dads. Ned's was a combo of everyone's as he couldn't decide which one he preferred. MJ went for Nat cause MJ liked the fact that she, and Pepper, could control all of us and was the only girl original Avenger. MJ admires her as a icon for women.
"Okay everyone scan your passes as you walk through the scanner like this." Stone demonstrated as he scanned his pass and walked through the scanner with his hands out.
"Logan Stone. Security level clearance:8. No unauthorised items." F.R.I.D.A.Ys voice announced.
"Now all of you do it." Happy instructed.
Everyone started going through the scanner, Flash being the most smug as his level 1 clearance was announced, until it got the the final three. Me, Ned and MJ. MJ decided to go first, F.R.I.D.A.Y announced her name, level 9 security clearance and the fact she had no unauthorised items with her. Next was Ned, F.R.I.D.A.Y announced his name, level 9 security clearance and the fact he had no unauthorised items. Next was me, I was dreading it.
"Come on Patricia, just admit your internship is fake now and save us all the trouble." Flash shouted over everyone making Happy stop and glare at him. He was about to make a move towards Flash but I put my hand out and stopped him.
"Just leave it Hap. He's not worth cancelling whatever Dad's got planned." I told him in a low voice trying to be unheard.
"He says one more thing and I'll knock him out." Happy threatened.
"I have no doubt you will." I sighed and decided I stalled enough. I quickly scanned my card and walked through the scanner with my hands up like everyone else.
"Peter Stark-Rodgers, level 10 security clearance. No unauthorised items. Mr Stark-Rodgers has already been informed of your arrival. Thank you for using the front entrance." F.R.I.D.A.Ys robotic but slightly sarcastic voice announced.
The tour started off normal. One of the actual interns, Owen, greeted us and me separately. We were quite good friends as he was one of the people to help me when Wade asked me out, I will be eternally grateful to him.
"Okay, our first stop on this tour is the avengers museum. You will be allowed to take photos but please refrain from touching anything as they could activate. Everything thing in this room is the real deal except a few things. We will also be trying to lift Thor's hammer in this room with him there of course." Owen explained. So, this is where Dads plans begin.
We walked into the museum and was greeted with 3 main area. Original Avengers, later added Avengers and Avengers associates. Then, I saw a red and blue display. Spider-Man has his own display IN THE LATER ADDED AVENGERS SECTION. Did this mean Dad wanted me to be an Avenger? What's going on? Did Fury know about this?
Ned grabbed my hand and led me to the display cases where I saw my old suit and computers next to replicas and photos of my current ones. This is so cool.
“Spider-Man is the latest mighty hero to join the Avengers in their mission to protecc the Earth and Asgard. Spider-Man has been described my many to be funny, witty and charming. He the only Avenger to have not revelled his identity yet but we are sure he will in due time. Fun facts about Spider-Man:
He is afraid of Spiders ironically,
He's a complete Daddy's boy,
He made his first suit himself,
He lives with Tony and Steve Stark-Rodgers,
And finally, he can rival Tony Stark-Rodgers levels of Sass." Ned read from the information
I silently groaned at the second fun fact knowing full well Dad was just trying to boost his ego. Oh well, it's kind of hard not to be true.
"Oo Penis Parker checking out the exhibit on his 'friends'." Flash sneered putting air quotes around 'friends'.
"Right, come along people. We have an exclusive lecture with Dr Banner on Gamma radiation and how it affects the human body. Everybody make and orderly que and and we can make our way there." Owen informed and instructed.
We all qued up with me and my friends at the back and started to walk towards the elevator to go to Bruce's lab. Once we found ourselves outside of the lab the reality of the situation set in, we're going to be talking to my Uncle Bruce. While no one in the class knows he's my Uncle and I'm with my Bully and Transphobic teacher. I dread to think what's about to happen.
"Okay kids. Be very polite and respectful, we don't want a code Green." Owen instructed before knocking on the door and waiting for Bruce to open it as Owen didn't have high enough clearance to open the door.
After a minute of waiting and no sign of Bruce Owen knocked again but to no avail. I knew that Bruce was working on a new project last night so it's highly likely he's asleep so I stepped forward, security card in hand and swiped it for entrance.
"Peter Parker, access granted." F.R.I.D.A.Ys voice sounded from above the door way.
I opened the door slowly and saw Bruce asleep on the couch. Motioning for everyone to give me a minute I creeped into the room to gently wake him up.
"Uncle Bruce, you have to give my class a lecture. Uncle Bruce wake up." I said softly and gently shook him awake.
"What? Peter? Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Bruce asked slowly sat up.
"I'm on a field trip and you're supposed to give a lecture to my class. They're all outside but you fell asleep." I informed him.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry. Ask them to give me a minute and I'll be mostly ready. Thanks Pete." Bruce replied scrambling to clean up a little bit and get sorted.
"He'll just be a minute." I informed my class while exiting the room waiting for Bruce when I heard Uncle Clint shifting in the vents. Oh no, this has been planned.
“Hello Midtown. Sorry for the delay, life of a stressed scientist. I'm sure most of you know what that's like. Come in, take a seat and please excuse the mess." Bruce greeted and opened the door wider for us to enter.
We all shuffled into the highly cluttered room and sat down in one of the fold out chairs set us in the centre of the room infront  of three dry erase boards. Uncle Bruce started his lecture but I soon tuned him out as I had heard it all before.
"Peter!" Clint yelled popping his head out from the vent with a grin on his face.
"Barton." I said in a monotone voice to hopefully convey my disinterest in whatever he was planning.
"I was asking if I could go into your room to borrow some silly string. Tony fucked with a few of my arrows and I'm not happy about it. I was literally shocked!" He shouted the last sentence making me wince and cover my ears.
"Yes you may but only one can. I need the rest for Loki cause he's the only one out of all of you that hasn't had a string attack yet. Hopping to change that soon." I informed.
"Cool. I'm taking the blue one. Bye, see you later." He waved before disappearing back into the vents and crawling away.
"He has this all planned doesn't he?" I asked Uncle Bruce signing slightly.
"Sorry kid." He smirked and continued with his lecture despite people only being focused on gawping at me.
Soon after that his lecture was finished and we moved on. Owen took us to a more general development lab where people started their testing to see if it was possible and worth perusing. As soon as we entered I was greeted with Shuri running towards me and hugging me tightly.
"Shuri, you literally saw me last night. Why are you hugging me so tightly?" I asked smiling slightly.
"I still missed you. Brother has been boring but these labs are very interesting, still they would be more so with you here." She told me pulling away and looking at my astonished class.
"Hello children of Midtown High School. I am Shuri Princess of Wakanda and this is my brother, the king." Shuri introduced smiling at everyone's shocked faces.
"I can introduce myself sister." T'Challa told her.
"Now you know how I feel." She told him smirking before walking off to see one of the experiments happening in the room.
We looked around the lab for a little while, I helped a few people with equations and how to improve their testing. Shuri and I shouted memes and vines at each other from across the room. Flask and Mrs Robbins glared at me any chance they got.
"Right Children, it's time for lunch. You've been privileged enough to have lunch on the level 7 balcony right near the landing pad. Please be calm and sensible and respectful of the employees eating there." Owen explained and lead us up to the eating deck.
Once there I immediately noticed Uncle Thor and Loki waiting around the corner obviously looking for me. They truly planned this. Anyway, me, Ned and MJ all walked over to an empty table and they took out their lunches when I noticed I left mine in the kitchen this morning. Shoot.
"Peter!" I hear Thor yell as he and Loki walk around the corner with his arms out.
"Hello Thor. To what do I owe the pleasure?" I asked jokingly formally.
"Does one need a reason to visit his favourite nephew?" Thor asked bringing me into a hug, possibly crushing everyone of my ribs in the process, while Loki stood awkwardly to the side.
"If your all going to embarrass me can I ask you a favour in return?" I asked the brothers.
"Of course Peter! Anything for my nephew!" Thor all but yelled and clapped me on the back.
"Yeah, I left my lunch on the kitchen counter today. Could you possibly run up and get it for me please." I requested when a flying object fell from the sky.
My lunch.
"YOUR WELCOME!" I heard Sam yell from above us.
"THANKS BIRD BRAIN!" I yelled back at him and sat back down as the table, Thor and Loki soon following.
"Peter, I was wondering later if you could help me with my magic. I've been trying to work on my long distance aim and I think you'd be the perfect person to practice with." Loki asked shyly, he still isn't comfortable with all of us yet but he's made loads of progress.
"To hit or to avoid?" I jokingly asked earning a slight laugh out of the giant.
"To miss. I'll place the object I want to hit next to you and 'throw' a spell at it. If you're next to it it gives me more motivation to not hit it." Loki explained.
"Yeah sure I'll do that. What time were you thinking?" I asked.
"Well, you're class is staying the night and tomorrow day so maybe we could find time tonight or tomorrow night." Loki said making me realise my entire class has witnessed this entire encounter. For frick sake.
"Peter!" The deep voice of Bucky yelled from the doorway to the balcony.
My entire class looked in shock as I hugged good bye to the Gods and James 'Bucky' Barnes walked over to me with a bag and an apron saying 'Kiss the cook' on it. Once he was within range I could smell the contents of the bag. White chocolate and caramel cookies. My favourite.
"I made cookies and thought you might like some while they're hot." He explained handing me the beg witch I immediately accepted and took a cookie from.
"Thank you Uncle Bucky." I said but it was muffled by the whole cookie I shoved into my mouth. Classy.
"Hey you said you'd wait for me!" I hear my boyfriend shout appearing at the doorway and running towards me with his arms spread.
"I said I was leaving in one minute and you could come if you wanted. I never said I'd wait for you cause I know how long you can take." Bucky complained to Wade who crushed me into a hug and kissed my lips briefly.
My entire class and teacher were stunned at this point. Every single jaw, except Ned and MJ's, was on the floor. When Wade kissed me I could faintly see from the corner of my eye my teacher so red and angry. Close minded female dog.
"I've not seen you all day how are you?" Wade asked pulling away.
"I'm fine, you saw me less than a few hours ago. Not much changed." I told him smiling a little and pulling him into another kiss. I did this to annoy my teacher but mainly because I just loved to kiss my boyfriend. Sue me.
"I know but anything could happen while I'm not there. I love you too much to allow anything to happen to you." He said to me after a solid 40 seconds of kissing.
"Right well, I'm gonna go back upstairs. Wade, you can stay with Peter as long as you keep your hands to yourself." Bucky warned before walking off back into the tower and Me and Wade sat down with me on his lap.
After a few minuets the shock wore off and people started whispering and pointing at me and Wade. Nothing I didn't expect if I'm honest but it's a lot more annoying than I thought it would be.
“I love you Wade." I said putting my head on his chest and eating my cookies.
"I lub you too Pete." He responded making me giggle a little. "And you're ass that will be mine tonight." He whispered seductively into my ear and gently grabbed my ass.
"You two make me want to be sick." MJ joked making a disgusted face at us before continuing with her lunch.
"Right everyone, we have ten minutes before we need to move on." Owen warned.
To be continued...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Loki x African!goddess reader
I see that there is not a lot of Loki x reader stories which I think is weird, so I decided to write a couple of my own. And nobody is gone stop me either. So enjoy this first chapter to an upcoming mini series!
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
A party was perhaps always being held in Asgard. Whether it was Thor returning home, another battle won, or Hell they had a party just because. It was quite a bore with the constant partying and the people that would attend made things even more boring.
The dancers would shake their hips the same way and the dishes the servants would serve were always be the same. Nothing was new. Nothing peaked my interest.
The whispers about me never ceased, being the adopted son of Odin, the infamous Loki, God of Mischief, still chasing his father’s tailcoats for the throne. Loki, the forgotten son. The son with no legacy. Bah, it was all the same. I should turn everyone here in the hall into gremlins.
I sat on a plush sofa, pretty much on my own, since nobody would want to sit by the trickster Loki. It’s fine, not like I had that many friends anyway.
A jester preformed a trick making the crowds express gasps of excitement and claps rang out in the hall. I rolled my eyes, I will never understand how people can be so interested in this.
I did not want to attend this worthless banquet in the first place, but my mother bless her soul, is a very persuasive woman and I unfortunately fall for it every time. Now, here I was, dressed in green almost black robes and armor that had some pieces of gold imbedded into it.
Swirling the wine in my cup, the familiar sound of heels clacking against the polished marbled floor made my eyes look up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The black dress reminded me of the stars in the galaxy, it caressed her dark skin and hugged all the curves on her figure. Her hair coily and I bet if I had the chance to touch it it would be as soft as a lamb’s wool. It covered the side of her face and I didn’t have the chance to get a good look at her, but, just from how she carried herself, I knew she had to be beautiful. Probably for the best I didn’t see what she looked like, who would turn their interests on the God of Mischief? She held her head up high as if she were the queen of Asgard herself.
As she walked into the banquet hall, her pace was quick as she approached my mother who was standing with her normal group of nobles and who in turn brought the beauty in a warm embrace. She smiled in greeting to the woman as she spoke to my mother. The way they spoke made it seem like they have known each other for years.
Taking a swig of my wine, I averted my eyes elsewhere. She was probably another noble that was only here to attend the banquet then return to wherever she had came from to brag about her time on Asgard. There were many of Gods and Goddesses who took advantage of our kingdom to try and take over. I scoffed at the thought, every time that someone would try and take Asgard would only return to their realm in pieces, how others think so little of Asgard when we indeed are the best.
The clacking of heels broke me from my thoughts and my mother calling my name made me look up to see both my mother and the mysterious woman. Damnit, I hated being right, she wasn’t just beautiful, she was gorgeous. A vision. I gulped at how beautiful she was and I saw my mother flick her wrist up to tell me to stand up and present myself. I stood up from the couch fixing the front of my robes.
Tumblr media
I looked her over, shamelessly and my eyes lingered on her chest until my mother cleared her throat to avert my eyes to hers. She tilted her head towards the woman and I cleared my throat, placing a hand on my chest to bow my head in greeting.
Tumblr media
“Good evening mother, as always you are the most beautiful in all of Asgard.” I say. My mother waves away my compliment, bashful of my words and puts a hand on the woman’s arm.
“This is Mawu, she is the Goddess of the night, of joy, and of motherhood as well as the ruler of Midgard’s wisdom and knowledge. You have met her mother, Nana Buluku a couple of times.” Frigga says.
I roll my eyes at that. I had met that woman thousands of years ago, I cannot remember what she looked like. The beauty, Mawu, looks me over then raises an eyebrow at me.
“He is your son?” She turns to mother.
“Yes, my youngest,” Frigga says with pride in her voice and I can’t help but, give a small smile.
“Mm, he is tiny.” She looks me over one more time.
“Need to eat something, these fruits and cheeses are not enough to help him grow.” She states and I became baffled at her declaration making my mother laugh and I frowned in annoyance. What is it with women and wanting their men big and muscled? I am plenty strong with my lean figure.
“Allow me to take him back to my realm and he will return with a stronger body,” Mawu tells mother. Frigga waves her hand in my direction.
“I tell him to eat more but, he only nibbles on the food we offer him.” She sighs and I roll my eyes once more, taking a large sip of my wine then using my magic to make my cup disappear.
“Mother, did you bring your friend over here just to spite me?” I asked her, putting my hands behind my back and a clench in my jaw.
“No, of course not, my love,” she smiles and then moved Mawu closer to my person. The woman took a few steps away from me.
“I wanted you two,” Frigga points between us as she continues, “to get to know each other better.” She says making both of our heads turn to look at one another in shock then back to Frigga’s grinning face.
“You cannot be serious.” I say as Mawu crosses her arms.
“Quite serious my son, Mawu will be staying here for a couple of weeks as her mother has asked me to oh, how do the midgardians phrase it? Ah, yes “get her ass out of the house”. And so, she will be staying in the royal quarters for the time being and I want the two of you,” she points between us again. “To get to know each other better. Have a pleasant evening.” Frigga finishes and turns to return back to her group of allies. Mawu scoffs in disbelief and leaves my side to leave through where she came in.
Subconsciously, I followed after her, her heels clicking quickly against the floor, she was clearly upset. She wasn’t the only one upset. Get to know me better? Just what is mother planning? And why was I following her?
Mawu’s POV
I had stopped in the middle of the long hallways of Odin’s castle and turned my head to an open door where a balcony was located. I laid my hands on the balustrade and looked at the cotten candy skyline, as it slowly turned to night. Here on Asgard was hard to tell if it was night or not, they had no moon to go off of and the stars that were apparent determined different coordinates.
I sighed and leaned my arms against the balustrade leaning my head on my wrists. A couple weeks of being in this realm will be challenging. I’m not used to taking such long breaks like this, I just hoped that the Earth will still be there for me when I return.
I was set up. Mother told me that it had been a while since I last been to Asgard, to see Lady Frigga especially and she thought that a visit would be nice. How easily I was tricked by her and Lady Frigga. Don’t get me wrong I loved Lady Frigga as a second mother, but, the thought of having to trick me into staying here for a long duration of time really unsettled me.
Sighing once more, I closed my eyes as I felt the wind blow into my face. The breeze blowing against my hair that resembled a cloud. Using my powers, I conjured up a small ball of light that allowed me to see the children of Earth. It was a particular group of children that I had been watching over for a while. Perhaps from their great grandparents up until the new generation, I think I’ve lost count.
I watched as all the children played and the adults that I once looked after when they were children tended to their own brood. I smiled sadly. These children were my children. Even if I didn’t birth them, they were mine. A child, a little boy named Abioye, smiled and I felt my bottom lip quiver.
Swiping away the image, I felt a few tears rush down my cheeks. Quickly wiping them away, I took a deep breath and then looked down at my shoes. They were beautiful but, so constricting, I pulled them off my feet and stretched my toes, sighing in bliss.
“Lady Mawu,” I looked up to see a male guard bowing before me. I straightened my back to address him.
“Yes,”
“Your quarters are ready for you.” He says. Nodding, I allowed him to lead me to my room. Peaking a look over my shoulder, I noticed a familiar pair of green eyes watching me. With a ‘hmph’ I turned my eyes forward and continued to follow the guard.
With Loki
That insufferable woman dare turn her nose up at me?! I scoffed in disbelief and used my powers to return to my mother in the banquet hall. Kissing her goodnight, I walked out another exit to my chambers.
Once I arrived at my room, I noticed the guard that guided the Goddess to her quarters and stretched my neck to see that he was leaving from the room right next to mine.
“You there!” I halt the guard as he immediately stopped and bowed to me.
“Did you just lead that moon Goddess into the room next to mines?” I ask.
“Yes, your majesty, it was specific instructions that your mother gave.” He says and I groan out in annoyance.
“Your majesty?”
“Begone. I have no more use of you.” I spat and the guard bows again, quickly leaving my sight.
Looking towards the closed door, I put my hands on my hips and nodded my head then entered my room with a slam to the doors.
Plopping down onto my bed, I placed my hands behind my head and sighed deeply. Mother was making things so difficult. What purpose did she need to give me someone to...bond with? I have managed to be on my own before what’s different now?
Sniff, sniff
Sob, whimper
I heard soft crying from the wall behind me and I got up from my bed and moved to the nearest wall, placing an ear towards it, to hear indeed crying on the other side.
I don’t know what it was but, her crying made my heart break a bit. Sighing, I removed myself from the wall and plopped back down onto my bed. Her sobs were slowly growing louder and I gritted my teeth.
Waving my hand, I allowed a small bunny to appear in my palm and allowed it to phase through the wall, I waited in anticipation of the small...I guess I will call it a gift.
With Mawu
She had changed into her silk nightgown and immediately her tears returned.
The sobs continued to fall from her lips as she laid across the large bed. Why she was crying? Unfortunately, Mawu has separation anxiety and the thought that she can’t be close to her ‘children’ broke her heart. Sniffling, she raised her head from the cradle of her arms and jumped when she saw a black lump sitting in front of her.
The large floppy ears twitched slightly as the pink nose sniffed. Sitting up, she got a closer look at the small being and she realized that it was indeed a black rabbit.
Tumblr media
“Hello, there,” she coos as she reached a hand out to the rabbit. The cotton tailed furry snuggled into her awaiting hand and Mawu giggled at the feel of it’s nose.
“Where did you come from?” She asks as she picks up the rabbit and holds it in her lap. She scratched under its chin and felt the thump of the rabbits right foot popping her thigh in delight.
“I think I’ll call you, Irawo.” She tells the rabbit who thumps its right foot again in delight.
Giggling again, Mawu allowed the rabbit to play around on her bed and then caressed its head, liking the soft fur.
With Loki
The God of Mischief allowed a small grin to appear on his lips as he listened to the Moon Goddess’s giggles.
Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Skin Deep Part 5 - click here for the previous chapter! Pairing:  Loki x Reader, Steve, Valkyrie & Thor all make appearances Summary:  Continued from Part 5, You and Loki put your plan into action, returning to Farmhouse.  When you encounter Steve again, you learn there’s more than two sides to this story. Warnings:  Loki’s POV and perspective, including mentions of his time under Thanos.  I’m re-writing MCU history here, but some of the main beats are the same, so look out for SPOILERS for Dark World, Ragnarok, and a touch of Infinity War.  The SNAP never happened because, reasons.
Tumblr media
Empathy used to seem such a human emotion.  Loki had no time for that on Asgard, not when Odin denied anything as frivolous as feeling.  Hiding in plain sight was the means to survival and if that made the young prince sneaky and sly, so be it.  By placing those parts of himself under lock and key; the parts that hurt, the ones that ached, Loki found it was safer to disconnect from others than subject himself to their suffering too.
Operating under the influence of Thanos and his minions when he held the scepter, Loki had purposefully divorced connection of any kind from his mind.  It was dangerous.  Weak.  And moreover, it allowed Loki to do what Thanos commanded without really experiencing the horror, the havoc, of his actions for himself.
Who could hear the screams of women when the voice of Ebony Maw subliminally chanted all the ways that one could be dismembered at Thanos’ hands should Loki fail?  What man would shed a tear after the near constant beatings doled out by Black Order members, just for the fun of it?  How could someone care about a house, a car, a city, when they no longer cared about themself? Losing the Battle for New York had consequences far beyond the destruction of property.  With Thanos’ hold over him vanquished, the walls around his heart, constructed in youth, crashed and burned like the dream of ruling Earth.  Suddenly and completely out of reserves, Loki was powerless.  And he felt everything.  The fresh hurts caused by his manipulated ambitions in the hands of Thanos. The furious feelings of his brother, the inadequacies of his character, the feeble needs that drove his wild ambition washed over him unceasingly.  Anger.  Loss.  Lunacy.  Loki learned a hard truth in that moment.  He was a monster.  A freak.  A creature beyond hope and salvation; proving his adoptive father right and his own hopeful heart wrong.  Bitterness soured the fallen prince. Endless hours in isolation on Earth, which continued in his father's house, had Loki believing he had no chance of seeing the world outside again, and it hardened his heart further.  To feel was so painful, so raw, and so humane.  Why bother anyway?  All that emoting, those high spirits, all they really did was expose you to derision.  What was grief to a goblin?  What was horror to a monster?  What was love to a villain like him?  An evil, conspiring demi-god, with a mind bent toward domination.  A damaged, destroyed, deity alone and in pieces.  Who would ever give someone like Loki Odinson a chance?  Why should they?
Turning to his mother, Loki did everything but ask for forgiveness.  In long rambling talks, her projection to his jailed person, the pair talked around ideas of guilt and innocence, of fate and fortune, of destiny versus desire, yet Loki never heard the words he needed in order to truly find peace.
If Frigga was aware of her son’s need for absolution, Loki would never know, as their last exchange was harsh and full of anger.  Another stroke of loss, crippling now, because there was nothing Loki could do to change any of it from inside his prison cell.  No illusion could conceal the painful ache that consumed him entirely.
Those days were dark, even for a soul as dusky hued as his own, and Loki’s thoughts followed a similar path.  If there had been a way for him to shake off this immortal coil, free himself of the burden of living, Loki would have done so and been glad.  Death was welcome compared to all this longing and heartache. But life, even a nearly immortal one, was funny.
When Thor provided a chance at redemption, Loki snatched at it, in his own detached way.  He played hero, rescuing Jane, aiding his brother.  And if he took a bit more in the form of deposing his arrogant, aging father, who would be surprised?  He was Loki, God of Mischief, after all. Ruling the Nine Realms without the oppressive oversight of his father allowed Loki to prove himself in ways he never imagined.  And Loki wasn’t just good at it.  He was great. Of course, it helped that no one knew he was Loki.  Living disguised as Odin was often unpleasant, frequently frustrating, but entirely necessary.  Being Loki was still too difficult and likely to bring unwanted attention in the form of The God of Thunder, a thing that no one truly wanted, Loki least of all. Return Thor did, along with an unknown sister and the end of Asgard.  When confronted with the insanity of Hela’s bloodlust, Loki’s only thought was of his kingdom, now without a ruler.  He had worked too hard, too long, to see the land he cared for in the hands of an enemy, even if she called herself sister.  Opening the Bi-Frost, panicked, his mind was solely on saving those he had recently held dominion over.  They were his people, after all.  But he never reached Asgard. Swallowing his fear, Loki focused all his energy on staying alive in a new and distracting environment, initially.  What Loki found on Sakaar wasn't a new home base under a flamboyant, ineffective leader that he could control, even if that was his first design.  On Sakaar Loki found his loyalty.
The proud, deep resonance of being Asgardian, of being an Odinson, of being capable and cool under pressure.  Sure, he had to prove himself to Thor, Valkyrie, Banner and honestly, the rest of the kingdom, but actions speak louder than words.  And through his actions on Sakkar, and by extension rescuing the people of Asgard, Loki had shown everybody his true mettle. It was on the deck of a stolen ship headed for Midgard that  Loki had made a commitment of sorts.  One that was not to the people, so recently saved or for his found family.  This time, the promise Loki intended to keep was for himself.  Loki was going to change. The problem is, a task like that takes time.  Patience.  Motivation.  It was something that Loki had to work at and it was exhausting. They say that the best things come to those who wait.  Loki was learning to wait everyday.  Having earned a place at the side of his brother, he worked tirelessly to win over the heroes of his new home planet.  Was it easy?  Hardly, but Loki wasn’t willing to compromise.  Not anymore. A life like Hela’s was not in his runes.  Loki was simply going to be better.  Not perfect.  No one could be as good hearted as Captain America, nor could one be as tech savvy as Stark.  So Loki was planning on being the best Loki he could possibly be, and that’s how he found himself going to meetings at The Avengers Tower, a mostly welcome addition to the team. Meetings weren’t all that exciting and boredom was an awful temptation for a deity devoted to mayhem.  In fact, Loki spent more time doodling in his notebook than listening to whoever was droning on about whatever part of the world needed the attention of this motley crew.  That was, until Pepper Potts hired her new assistant.  That you were polite, pretty and pert wasn’t lost on the young god.  Sitting outside Mrs. Iron Man’s office, typing away with a phone tucked under your ear, moving faster than anyone he had ever seen was certainly impressive.  You were quick witted, clever and most of all, funny. Everyone else seemed to fall under your spell without much effort on your part, something that Loki found frustratingly fascinating.  Here he was, struggling to get people to say his name without having a traumatic flashback, while you simply smiled and smarted off prettily, and had everyone singing your praises.  But Norns, were you adorable. If he thought about it, and while off planet, Loki definitely had, he could remember the moment he realized that you were the woman he wanted.  You were busy, as always, fielding phone calls and flipping through screens yet every moment your flying fingers weren’t hovering over a keyboard or pushing down telephone buttons they curled around a heart shaped charm at your throat.  Clearly, it was a habit and one that you weren’t even aware of, still - it transfixed him all the same.  Watching you from his side eye, your voice never wavering, your tone always so pleasing, and your nimble digits returning again and again to the small sigil around your neck.  “Loki?” “Huh?”  Dumbfounded at your call, those deep sea eyes blinked wildly at the sound of his name on your lips. “Hi!  Yes, Pepper can see you now.  Go ahead, she’s ready!” He rose on stiff legs, adjusting his tie, about to lie to Tony Stark’s woman all for the chance to see you in passing.  Who had he become? It started out innocent like that, but soon, Loki was having to invent excuses for being in the office so frequently.  Missing files, random visits, even going so far as to buy Tony coffee just for the thrill of seeing you.  Something needed to change, and quickly, or Loki was going to blow. On another made up errand, hanging around the executive’s high rise office, Loki was doing a bad job of pretending not to see you.  His mind was on your pouty lips as you sipped lemonade through a straw and not on the stately woman seated behind the desk.
“Loki, you’re a man of some… style.”  Pepper said it so casually that he almost didn’t hear, his head lost in thoughts that would shame any other person. “I like to think so.”
Shutting her folder with a snap, Pepper smiled, “And you’d love to help your old friend Pepper out, right?” That got his attention, and quickly.  Loki, shoving his hands in his pockets, turned to face Pepper with a widening grin, “I feel like I’m being baited.”
“Baited?  Never!  It’s just, you’re always here and I have a… project that needs the kind of help that you can provide.”  At those words you entered the office, ready for action with a notebook and pen, eager and excited. Suddenly, it was all clear to Loki, “Pepper, no.”
The noose closed in on the handsome god as Pepper gathered paperwork without looking his way, “Come on, it’s the Stark Homecoming Gala and the two of you will do great!  I have faith in you both.  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!” “Really, Miss Potts, I simply can’t-” Stopping short, the strawberry blonde whipped around, almost nose to nose with Loki.  Shrewd and straightforward, Pepper interrupted, saying, “You’ve been dancing around my office for weeks now.  Clearly you like her and… against all the odds, she likes you too.  I’m doing you a favor and when someone does you a favor, you say “Thank You”.” “Thank you.” Nodding curtly, “You’re welcome.  Now, make yourselves comfortable, order some dinner, my treat.  And do whatever you need to make sure this is one great party!” That’s how Loki found himself sitting at a clear glass table over sweating bottles of iced tea as you discussed color themes and tablecloths.  You were shy, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear as you reviewed notes from previous gatherings both large and small.  His hands itched with wanting to do that job himself. “So, what do you think?”  It was the first time you had addressed him directly since coming through the door and for a moment Loki couldn’t answer.  You were too… not beautiful, that wasn’t the right word, although you were.  No, you were too open, too easy to read, and the earnestness you offered him was downright frightening. Sitting forward in the uncomfortable, yet fashionable, office furniture, Loki cleared his throat and again tugged his tie, “What I think is that you should let me take you dinner.” Dropping your eyes, your cheeks colored slightly as your fingers found that locket charm once more, “Loki, I… I don’t know-” Grabbing for your hand, suddenly afraid that you would take those shining eyes away, Loki lowered his voice and did something he never thought he would.  He begged.  “Please?  I find that you’re all I can think about.” It rushed out of him in a torrent, the way truth so often does, and he found himself unable to look you in the eye.  Loki was afraid to see rejection on your easy to read face, afraid that wanting you had cracked open the lock box holding his heart, afraid that you would see just how weak you made him.  Your fingers twined with his own as you replied, “You didn’t let me finish.  I don’t know what took you so long.” Sighing with relief, his face melting into a genuine smile, “Me either.” Over the next two months the pair of you worked tirelessly to plan and execute a perfect party.  You were inseparable during the day, heads buried together as you discussed linens and table settings, the quality of cocktail glasses, and debating over a band or a dj.  But at night, at night Loki talked about the things that haunted him in the dark.  And you loved him in spite of the awful things he had seen and done and said. Others took notice.  Loki was more lighthearted, more available.  He listened when people spoke and wasn’t constantly doodling during meetings.   Yes, Loki was learning how to love through your loving him.  If empathy had seemed too humane before, then sharing his life, his love with you, was the kind of immortality that earned someone a place in Valhalla.  It was the bravest thing Loki Odinson had ever done and he didn’t mind one bit.
The first time Loki tasted you was burned into his brain, as bright as a flash of lightning.  A firefly in a memory jar that he kept returning to, time and again.  Loki remembered what you were wearing.  He recalled exactly how the light shone in your eyes.  If he concentrated, he could tap out the rhythm of your racing pulse as he held you in his arms. It was the night of the gala.  Inviting everyone under the Stark Industries banner, up to and including the heroes tasked with saving the world, the event was a way to earn money for one of the many charities Tony supported.  The place was full of beautiful people wearing gorgeous clothes under perfect lights set to the hand crafted soundtrack you had created together.
But, Norns, he could still remember the way your eyes sparkled under the lowlights of that hall.  How your dress, simple but sophisticated, clung to the fullness of your bottom.  Low cut but somehow still modest, Loki couldn’t tear his gaze away from the promise of your curves, willing himself to find anything else as interesting as the idea of you.
You were across the room hanging onto Tony’s every word, eyes bright and cheerfully glowing as you sipped champagne.  It made Loki want to do something grand, something suave, something that would demand your attention for his own.  Moving towards you, his tuxedo perfectly pressed and fitting better than it had any right to, Loki looked long and lean.  Each of his steps seemed to echo, even though the room was full of sound, and you turned your head as if you also heard.  Breaking away from the cluster of acolytes surrounding Iron Man, you bit into your lip as the crowd parted, moving closer together one step at a time.  It was one of the sexiest things Loki had ever witnessed. Lifting your glass in a toast, taking in the room of mingling millionaires, wealthy hangers on and Avengers, “Well, we did it!” “You did it, my dove, I just hung around and judged everyone.” “Oh stop.  I couldn’t have done it without you and you know it.”  Playfully you pushed against his shoulder and Loki took advantage, using your momentum to pull you to his side, your curvy figure flush against his own. Crooning into the shell of your ear, his lips brushing over that sensitive skin, “Somehow, love, I think you would have managed.”  Before you had time to think, Loki had melded his mouth with your own, stealing your breath along with your heart.  Loki’s feet moved in time with the music as he pulled into a dance, laughing in his arms, your cheeks hot and your head swimming. You laughing was, without question, Loki’s favorite sound.  Nothing in this world or any other came close to matching the joyful, childlike glee of that enchanting noise.  Loki memorized its melody, the rise and fall of your giggle.  He had craved it, being away for so long, and now he wanted… no, needed to hear it.  But you were the furthest thing from happy at the moment.
"Darling, please.  We have to go."  Loki tapped his watch, shaking himself free from the memories of your previous life together and barely suppressing his irritation.
Tears filled your eyes as you whipped your arms around Thor’s mighty shoulders, his deep voice grumbly with emotion, "Take care of him, would you?  He's a jerk, but Loki is the only brother I have."
"Of course… always.  And Valkyrie, your highness, I can’t thank you enough for-"
"No need.  Loki, and by extension yourself, will always have a safe haven here in my palace."
Looking on, Loki and Thor embraced almost tenderly before crashing their heads together.
"Stay safe, little brother."
"Be good, Thor."
Eyes on the sky, Val ignored the show of masculine emotion, chastising your plan, "You’re going to start a war, Loki."
Straight backed, Loki turned to the king, "Not on the grass of New Asgard.  I will take the fight to them, that is my vow to you."
As Loki offered his hand, Valkyrie shook it, with parting words, "Work on staying alive.  You have a tendency to worry your brother."
Solemnly nodding, "As the king commands.  Shall we?"  With that Loki laced his fingers with yours, leading you a few paces away from the people who loved him most, before summoning the magic that had you both transcending space and time.
This time when your feet touched down it was on the familiar turf of the orchard, surrounded by the scent of apple blossoms and the buzzing of happy bees.  Morning had broken and the world seemed full of promise, with the exception of that knot in your stomach.
"Are you ready?  Darling?"
"Oh… yes.  I mean, I still don't love this plan, but-"
"But it's going to work."  Only it was no longer the baritone voice of your long, lean Loki speaking.  In his place stood Nick Fury, leather duster and eye patch in place.
"If you say so!"  And you clutched your own throat as Natasha’s bored tones came out of your mouth.  The suit, skin tight but flexible, molded to your modified form.  All in all, you were comfortable, "The boots are a bit much."
"Ya think?  This jacket weighs a ton."  Pulling at his collar, "Why does he wear a turtleneck anyway?"
"Loki, this is so weird.  It feels so weird."
"Agreed, but then, why am I so turned on?"
Laughing, you shook your false red hair, hands resting on Natasha’s waist, "God, I've missed you."
"Same, dearest.  Now… let's get your necklace and some answers!"
---
Convincing Bucky to head home had taken a lot of work, but sometime around 2 am Steve had finally seen his friend off.  The house was empty.  Steve felt the same way.
Turning the black velvet box in his pocket, fingers crushed against the fragile fabric, Steve struggled to feel anger.  When that didn't materialize he shot for sadness but even tears seemed beyond his ability.
With a sigh, climbing the same stairs he had trudged up a hundred times before, Steve started going through the motions of bedtime.  Only tonight you weren’t there to tease him about the wildly inappropriate amount of toothpaste on his brush.  He didn’t have your light footsteps to follow to the bedside or your help with stacking all of your extra, yet entirely essential, pillows on the chair.
Someone must have changed the sheets, he thought.  There was no evidence of you and Loki’s adventurous afternoon anymore.  Steve made a mental note to thank Buck for that little piece of kindness in the morning.
Shucking his shirt, Steve sat on the mattress, a hand to his forehead.  He had lost.  Captain America had been bested.  Beaten.  And by Loki, no less.
Moonlight in silver slivers shone through the window panes, squares of light in the deep of night.  Steve was alone.  Utterly and totally alone.
And there was no one to blame but himself.
Sighing hard, Steve stood, pacing the floor to work off some of the unspendable anxiety he kept creating.  The room still had your energy, your vibe, as you liked to call it, and the feeling was a prickling itch Steve couldn’t quite satisfy.  Traces of you were everywhere and something about you leaving all of it, and him, behind was just too big to process. “Damn it.”  Even whispering sounded like thunder in the silence of your recently vacated room.  His hands, so big, so strong, smoothed along the fabric of your hanging clothes.  All that power had done nothing to help Steve get the thing he wanted. Sorting through the baubles and trinkets on your dresser, bottles of perfume he had purchased, necklaces and pins, each with a moment of memory it hurt him to recall.  Your watch ticked away the minutes as he stood, stoic and still, surrounded by the shadow of you.  In the orchard the birds were waking, their song filling the air, as morning broke in low golden rays.  Abandoning his plan for sleep, Steve watched as the light chased away the dark, casting rainbows on the floor.  The sun was reflecting off of your Grandmother’s necklace.  A pretty, ancient, carved cameo,  heart shaped locket.  He recalled his own mother owning one just like it, pictures of loved ones pressed inside, holding them as tight as history would allow. Fisting the filigree chain, winding it around his fingers as if it would somehow undo what he had done, Steve slipped it into his pocket before settling back onto the bed.  ----
At the back door to the home you so recently shared with Steve, Loki hung back, “I think this is where we split up.  You go find your treasure and me… I’m going to find some answers.” Nodding, Natasha’s signature red hair swinging, you squeezed the hand holding your own.  It no longer looked like Loki’s long fingered paw, but that was only a skin deep change.  You felt the undeniable essence of him in the press of his fingers against your own. “Be careful.” “That’s no fun, dove.” “Loki-”  You hated the way your voice broke as you said it, but there just seemed to be so much at stake and you had already lost him once. Sensing your unspoken concerns, Loki flashed you Nick Fury’s best smile, “I will.  I promise.”
“Ten minutes.” “Ten minutes.”  You watched the black coated back of your charmed paramour as he opened the shed door, hoping that he’d find something worth knowing in that place out of sight.  Inhaling deeply you twisted the doorknob as quietly as possible, letting yourself into what was once your kitchen, “What a mess.”  It was impossible not to notice the unwrapped leftovers and empty bottles littering the table.  An overturned trash barrel, crumpled beer cans littering the counter, things that Steve, your Steve, would never have tolerated.  All evidence that the grand evening he’d envisioned had been thwarted by Loki’s arrival and your collective escape.
You started up the stairs, praising Natasha's footwear for its stealth, when you heard the toilet flush and the unmistakable shuffle of Steve’s feet on the carpet.  There was no place to hide on the wide stairwell.  It was time to see if Loki's plan was going to work.
Voice blurry, eyes rubbed red and raw, you couldn't deny that Steve looked like shit, “Bucky?  That you?  You back?”  Steve’s voice bounced around the brightening room as morning sunlight filtered through the soft sheers you had picked out for exactly this reason. Panicked, you backed into the railing with an over loud “Oof!” “Nat?  What are you doing here?  I thought you and Fury were headed to New Asgard?”  Suddenly wide awake and wondering, Steve rushed to your costumed side, eager for information. The man in front of you now bore little resemblance to the angry Avenger you had escaped from hours before.  This man had hair sticking up in odd angles from near constant finger raking.  This man had a hint of a stuffy nose and red rimmed eyes, all indicators that tears had been shed.  Now those blue eyes were scrutinizing you closely, full of concern.
“Uh… We... We got intel.  Yea, intelligence, that Loki was headed back this way.  Turned around… and uh, here we are.” One of those sandy blonde eyebrows lifted, “Natasha?”
Squaring your shoulders, channeling that cool confidence you’d see Black Widow display over and over, “Steve?”  Something about your tone of voice convinced him in a way your words couldn’t.  He visibly relaxed, those broad shoulders going slack as he asked, “Didn’t make it to Norway, then?"
Nodding a negative, you felt the unfamiliar brush of her red hair at your cheek and had to fight the urge to tuck it away, “No.  Loki’s using some sort of transporting power to move them around.  Fury suggested I keep an eye out here, in case they come back this way.” “She won’t be back, Nat.  There’s nothing for her here.”  To you, Steve sounded so sad, so removed, that you had to will yourself not to comfort the giant before you.  “That’s not true!”  It came out of you forcefully, thoughtlessly, and you saw the shock register on the Captain’s face. “That is, Fury and I… we… have reason to believe that she will come back.  They left with nothing, Steve.  She’ll need clothes… maybe some shoes… and-”  Swallowing hard, you didn’t want to give anything away, “-a necklace from her grandmother.” Steve, patting his pocket, felt the weighted chain and it’s heart shaped locket, “I don’t think-” Stepping up to his bulky form, suddenly aggressive, you started, “Never mind what you think, Captain.  We're here for a necklace...  the necklace.  Our intel suggests that your former flame might return for it and… And, I want it, with me, as a means to subdue her when she arrives." Sounding forceful and official was enough to back Steve down.  Just a touch deflated, you watched him shrug, “If that’s what you want, Nat, here-”  From his pants he pulled out the shining bauble, a trinket really, but full of sentiment and memory. Sitting in his palm, the tiny heart that held the picture of your grandmother and mother looked so small, almost unreal.  Reaching for it with wet eyes, you smiled at Steve as you lifted the charm and chain, “Thank you, Steve.  Thank you.” Nodding deeply, that golden head bobbing, “You’re welcome.”  The large grandfather clock could be heard ticking throughout the house.  The sun was gaining on the day and you, dressed as Natasha stood in silence in front of a somber Steve.  For another long beat nothing was said, then, as if sensing a shift in your conversation, Steve flashed your fake Natasha a weak smile, “I could use some breakfast.  How about you?”
“Um… sure.  Yea, ok.  Breakfast.”
Steve started moving again, downstairs towards the cluttered kitchen when he paused, "So how did you get back so fast?  Cause that's like a 7 hour flight, even with you in the cockpit." “Steve…”  You could hear it, the whining almost pleading tone that signaled the end of Loki’s well planned charade.  That wasn’t enough to stop Steve.  He broke hard, one of those strong arms stopping you in your tracks before you could reach the lower level. “It’s clever, I have to give you guys that.  Almost perfect, really.” Panic rising, you doubled down on the ruse, struggling to keep your voice even, “I don’t know-”  Blocking you in, his body the perfect unmovable buffer, “Loki’s here too, isn’t he?” Pushing against “Steve, I… I don’t…” “Don’t lie.  You don’t have to…” “But… how-?” “You’re not mean enough to play Natasha, doll.  Not by a long shot.”
--- It was strange to be seated at the table and chairs that you and Steve had picked out together one sunny Saturday when you thought that your future was going to be Loki-less.  Your place, the one that you had imagined filling with children that had golden hair and bright blue eyes, felt like a set.  Something false and fake.  A facade, put together simply for show. Steve must have felt it too because his fingers drummed against the white washed table incessantly.  Clearly he had something on his mind.  “Steve-” “No.  No.  Please, let me just get this out, ok?” Raising an eyebrow, you waved at him to continue, nervous but interested in what the super soldier needed to explain. With a shaky inhale, running his constantly moving fingers through his golden locks, Steve caught your eye and didn’t waiver.  “When I saw you… No, that’s not right.  Let me start at the beginning. “When Loki left Earth, you… you were so sad.  It hurt me to see you so… deflated.” “Steve, I-” “You know it’s true.  When he returned to Asgard, something in you, it dimmed, and I just couldn’t allow that… Not when I felt the way I did about you. “I don’t think you realize just how incredible you are… how full of life!  And since I had already missed one chance to be with you, I knew I needed to prove that I could be the man you needed… If you forgot about Loki along the way, even better. “Only… you never did.  I waited years for you, ya know, doll?  Years.  And just when I thought there was no chance with you, Nat gave me a reason to hope. “She was your friend.  An ally.  Someone you could trust… someone I could trust.  I swear it started out that innocently, at least for me.  I just wanted to make you smile again.  But she had other plans.  Plans that came from higher up the ladder of SHIELD. “Fury, he wanted us to watch you… something about Loki being too powerful.  And-”, grabbing your hand tightly, Steve emphasized his point, “-I promise you that I had no idea about his success, or the messages he had sent to you through Nick.  Like you, I thought that Loki was gone.  Missing.  Never coming back.” “I… I believe you Steve.  I know that you didn’t do all this on your own… but what was Nick hoping you’d find out?  I knew less than nothing about what was going on!” “I think he was worried that Loki would get to you first.  That if… when Loki returned, you would be his first stop.  Then you would know about Loki’s success and, frankly, Fury’s failures.  You would also know… well, everything you know now.  That Fury had you tailed, lied to, and led on in an effort to stop Loki from out flanking him.” Frenzied and frantic, you felt anger boiling up inside of you, “But I thought Loki was gone forever.  There was no hope for him and I… and Natasha, she told me that he was dead.” “All a part of Fury’s plan to keep you neutralized and Loki away.  If Loki thought that you’d ignored his letters, that you no longer loved him, why would he come back here?  And, if that didn’t work… when Loki came back and you were with me, what else could keep him on Earth?”
Whispering with realization, “So, they used you too.” Steve sighed and buried his hands in the pockets of his sweatshirt, “Don’t feel bad for me.  I let them use my love for you, let them twist it up and shape it as they needed.  Honestly, I wish I could tell you that it was for you, but it wasn’t.  It was for me.  I wanted you, so, so badly.  I didn’t care what strings were attached.  And we built a life together, you and me.  I thought I could outrun the reality of the constant monitoring and daily reports.  Telling Natasha and Nick about every word and each email.  Don’t you see, I love you… and I wanted you, however I could get you.” Shaking your head, Natasha’s red wisps flying, “That’s not love, Steve.  I don’t know what that is… but love isn’t it.” “No?”  With a loud thunk, Steve slammed a small velvet box on the table between you. “Is… Is that what I think it is?”
“Last night.  It was going to happen last night.  Our friends here, under the lights and the stars, I was going to ask you to marry me.  I still would if-” Realization hit you like a ton of bricks, “If Loki hadn’t stepped back into our lives.” “-If Loki hadn’t stepped back into your life.” It made you both laugh in a sad way, how you finished the same thought, and for a fleeting second you could see why you had allowed Captain America to sweep you off your feet.  He was a lot of things to you now, but there was a time when he had been almost everything.  The evidence of that was in the small black square that said nothing but spoke volumes. “Steve, I don’t know if I would have said yes… even without Loki’s… arrival.  I think I have always known that you and I… we are very different people.” Sitting back in his chair, his gaze still locked on your own, “I just want you to know that I’m sorry.  I’m sorry about what I’ve done… what I’ve said… How, shit, how I’ve behaved.  I could say that it was my duty.  I could tell you it was out of love, but the plain truth is that I have always been jealous of what you and Loki share.” “You’ll find it Steve.  You really will.  There’s a person out there waiting for you.  And once you’ve found them, oh Steve, you’ll see that this… what we had, it’s a shadow.  An illusion.  Because love, real love, doesn’t come with caveats and catches.  It is an undeniable force which, in my case, even the boundaries of time and space can not deny.” Something like a sob burst out of Steve, and you were surprised to see tears in his eyes, “I was so wrong.  Could you ever forgive me?” “I want to, Steve.  I really do... “  What more could you say?  Patting his hand you started to rise, “I have to go now.  Loki and I need to keep moving and I don’t want to risk running into Nick and Natasha.  At least, not yet, anyway.” “Where are you planning to go?” “To the Avenger’s Tower.  I believe I know what Mr. Fury has been planning all along.”  Loki’s strong voice entered the conversation as smoothly as his arms wrapped possessively around your waist. Steve took in the protective stance of your returned lover with a raised eyebrow, and without further comment asked Loki, “Really?  And how are you going to breach the building?  They’ll be looking for you, even with disguises…  Fury is no fool.  Plus, there’s little chance that Tony hasn’t activated a million safety and security protocols by now.” Only interested in you, Loki refused to give Steve any of his attention, “Getting in can’t be that hard!  I’ll figure it out when I get there.  Ready pet?” With a gentle push under his broad hands your feet started to move towards the door.  Loki was eager to be off and away, especially after hearing so much of Roger’s confession.  Just knowing what Steve had done, manipulating you while also convinced of his love for you;  it was enough for Loki to commit murder.  He was having quite a difficult time not tearing the good Captain’s limbs off his body. Softening his tone, Steve practically pleaded, “Loki.  Wait.  I… I can help.” Turning his attention fully to your former flame, Loki purred venomously, “You can help?  I’d love to know what entails, Captain.” “I can get you into the place and take you exactly where you need to go.  Fury’s going to hate it, but I’m tired of taking orders that hurt the people that-”  His pause was as lingering as the look he gave you, “- That I love.”  Before Loki could offer a sincerely sassy reply you grabbed his sleeve, tugging, “Um… Excuse us a minute Steve.” Pulling him down the hall of a home that felt like a familiar faced stranger, you waited until you had a bit of distance from Steve before harshly whispering, “How long were you listening?”
Serving you that small, sexy smile, Loki grinned, “Long enough.  How did you know I was there?” “You are sneaky, but even you, God of Mischief, cast a shadow.” Swinging you close enough to catch your mouth with his own, Loki pressed a sweet kiss there before answering, “A mistake I will be careful not to make again!” “The tower, huh?  That’s where you want to go?”  Grabbing you at the swell of your hips, grinding his frame against your own, “Where I want to go, my darling, is to the nearest bed, preferably naked, with you and you alone.” Your hands traced over the lapels of his borrowed leather duster, pausing only to jerk him closer by the supple fabric, “Hmm… is that so?” “Oh yes…”  Loki’s buttery grumble filled your ear as his strong hands dug into the flesh of your bottom.  For a moment you thought he’d give in to temptation, his sweet lips teasingly close to your own upturned mouth, “But-” On your toes, leaning into Loki’s sturdy, leather draped frame, you paused, “Ugh.  But?” Moving you to a safer, less kissable, arms length away, Loki sighed with the same frustration you felt, “-But, where we need to go, as soon as possible, is the Tower.” Moaning grumpily, you stepped out of the arms you longed to linger in, “I was afraid you were going to say that.” “I know it’s less than… ideal, love, but I did find something useful before the good Captain unburdened his soul this morning.” “And that is?” “Fury’s plan.  At first I couldn’t figure out exactly what he was after.  What did Fury want?  How was I involved?” Loki was dragging this out, loving how it kept you hanging onto his every word, and you rolled your eyes, “Well?  What is it?  Weapons?  War?” “All of that, yes… and… yours truly.”  That triumphant smile that filled Loki’s whole face lit up his mischievous eyes.  Tilting your head, struggling to make sense of what Loki had just told you, “What do you mean, you.  Fury wanted you… to do what, exactly?’ “Loki was going to be the patsy.” You both turned toward the sound of Steve’s baritone at the door, suddenly remembering that the Good Captain was still there and that he was waiting to see what you were going to do next.  Leaning his 100 year old bones into the doorframe, Steve crossed his arms, “The fall guy.  An example of what happens if you cross SHIELD.” “I think, my dear Mr. Rogers, that you mean, I am to be used as an example of what happens if one crosses Nick Fury.”  Loki countered, slinging an arm over your shoulder protectively. The idea was frightening.  A man like Fury had too much power, too much at his disposal.  Just knowing the lengths he had gone to in order to keep you and Loki apart was scary enough.  Making enemies of your friends.  Threatening the people you loved.  Selling your affection to Steve in an effort to control Loki.
Now, the knowledge that all of it was done in an effort to ensure that Nick Fury was the toughest guy in the galaxy, it made your stomach clench.  “What do you mean, an example?” “Unless my intelligence is flawed, I believe that Fury was going to kill me.  Is that correct, Captain?” Steve felt the weight of two sets of eyes on him.  Yours, full of fearful love and blind hope that this was all just some misunderstanding.  Innocent and naive and as lovely as he could ever remember.  Loki’s were reflecting a deeper understanding.  The kind of knowledge that only time in the trenches teaches. There was no answer from Captain Rogers.  None was needed.  Honesty, final and resolute, was out in the open.  “Look.  I know I’m not the guy you want on your side.  I’ve… I haven’t been the man I needed to be.  Not for you-”  Steve locked his bright blues onto you, offering a small smile that spoke of sadness before facing Loki, “-Or you, Loki.  But if you let me help you now, I promise that I can get you into the tower and maybe, one day, you won’t think so little of me.”
Around you the morning gained strength.  Somewhere nearby birds chirped wildly, blissfully unaware of the drama unfolding in the modest little farmhouse and its implications on intergalactic politics.  Without  moving a muscle, Loki plainly asked you, “Do you trust him, dearest?” Squaring your shoulders, you crossed your arms, staring down the man called Captain America.  Nodding decisively, “I do.  I don’t think he’d spill everything like that only to turn on us.  He’s not so bad Loki, really.” “We’ll see about that.  For now, we trust Steve.  Ok, what’s your plan, Rogers?” --- “Hey.  I… I have one other thing to show you.”  Steve was dressed for action in his branded tactical gear, looking every inch the super soldier that Dr. Erskine envisioned. “Steve, we have to get moving.  Loki’s eager and -” “Just open it, ok?”  The envelope was thick with folded paper, the flap tucked under and not sealed.  Clearly it had spent time in and out of pockets, the edges frayed and tattered.  In exasperated curiosity you gingerly pulled the sheets free.
Shaking, your hands trembled holding the once white documents as your voice thickened, “Is this… is this what I think it is?” Cocking his head playfully, that rueful smile pulling at his full mouth, Steve almost seemed cheerful as he teased, “It’s yours.  I think something about this place has always been yours and I want you to have it.” “But-” Folding your small hands in his mighty ones, Steve squeezed gently, “It was a wedding present, or it was supposed to be.” “But we’re not getting married.” “I know.  Still-” “I can’t, Steve.  It’s yours.  Your house, your farm, your dream.” Shaking his head, disagreeing, but feeling lighter than he had in decades, Steve insisted, “Too late, I’m afraid.  It’s done.  Actually, that version of the deed has been signed since our second week here.” As realization sunk in you appraised the man changing right before your eyes, astonished but exhilarated, “Where will you go?” “I dunno.  Think I might need to be alone for a bit.  Maybe see the world… but first-” “First, we have to stop Nick Fury.”

Moving Day
Pairing: Loki x female reader (established relationship)
Warnings: kind of smutty (haha as close as I've gotten at least so don't get mad at me), fluff, brothers being brothers, forced brotherly bonding, annoying friends, nothing bad really... should be a fun one I hope (except for the ending possibly lol... there had to be angst somewhere)
Summary: You and Loki have been together for over a year and you are excited to be moving from your small, SHIELD agent quarters in the Tower to his much larger apartment on the Avenger's floor. Loki is looking forward to spending the day alone with you but you've decided to use the downtime between missions as an opportunity to force him and Thor to spend some 'quality time' together. After a few unexpected helpers drop by, you are finally able to get started moving your things into your new place while the two Asgardians bond (hopefully).
A/N: I was reading through some of my longer fic, Shadows of the Past, and I thought this chapter would be a fun little oneshot. I reworked it so you don't need to know anything else about the story to read it (and there is an additional character who isn't in the other version). If you do like it though... it is chapter 42 and the link to the rest of the fic is here Shadows of the Past (work in progress)

(Y/N POV)
Loki walks into your bedroom and places a few empty boxes on the ground by the door but you don't notice him. You're facing the bed when he quietly comes up behind you, putting his arms around your waist as he gently rests his chest against your back. His touch breaks into your wandering thoughts and you place your hands over his.
"So... what are you thinking about, darling?" he asks, kissing the side of your neck softly and you relax into him.
You think for a moment before you answer, knowing Loki might worry if you tell him the truth but you've never been able to lie to him. You can't help but let a soft moan escape you when you realize he isn't waiting for an answer, he came into your room with a very different agenda in mind. His lips continue to travel up and down your neck slowly, making sure he doesn't miss a single inch of skin while one of his hands begins to slide up from your waist. You forget he had even asked you a question as you lean back against his chest and close your eyes.
His lips move to the base of your neck and you abruptly turn to face him just as his hand stats to massage your breast over your t-shirt. Wrapping your arms around his neck loosely, his hands settle on your lower back, keeping you close to him.
"You can't ask me a question and then do things like that," you giggle as you look up at him.
"Why not?" he asks with an innocent expression and when you roll your eyes he presses his lips to yours. You give into his kiss as his tongue moves against yours. You feel him smile when you run your fingers up and down his back. He bites your bottom lip lightly before releasing your lips and you look up at him.
"See... now I have no idea what you asked me," you tell him honestly with a smile.
"What were you thinking about?" he asks again.
"Oh," you say and he loosens his hold of you slightly. "Nothing, it's stupid," you tell him with a shrug but you can tell by the look he gives you that he isn't going to accept that answer.
"I just..." you try to find the right words. "I mean, this is the first place I've ever had that was just mine. I know I don't own it and it's just the standard SHIELD housing all the other agents get too but... it's still my first place." You look around the room briefly then back up at Loki, his smile missing from his lips.
"Are you rethinking moving in with me?" he asks quietly.
"No! No, of course not," you tell him, touching his check softly and he nods. Even after two years you could tell he worried you would betray him or leave him like he thought everyone else in his life has done. "You know I couldn't be more excited to live with you right?" you ask and he nods again but this time his smile returns. "Is just that this is a big change for me. I moved in here right after I graduated from college so I guess I'm going to miss it a bit... I have so many great memories here, with my friends and with you," you tell him, reaching up to kiss his cheek.
"Speaking on fond memories here," he starts, "Do you know what my favorite memory in this apartment is?" he asks you and shake your head, unsure of whether his answer will be about one of the numerous times the two of you made love in the various rooms or if it will be genuinely sweet. "When you were trying to teach me how to make pasta and you 'accidentally' admitted you had a crush on me."
You laugh and playfully hit him in the chest, "You tricked me into telling you that."
He pretends to be offended and says, "I didn't trick you. I simply asked a serious of very well thought out questions. How was I to know it would actually work?"
"Mmhmm," you hum in response, crossing your arms but still letting him hold you loosely. "You know... you could have at least told me you liked me too. Did you really need to wait almost a week to ask me out afterwards? I nearly died of embarrassment."
He smiles but doesn't answer, you sigh mildly annoyed at the fact that he will probably never explain to you what took him so long. Instead, he closes the small space that had slowly grown between the two of you and you uncross your arms as he leans down to kiss you. You kiss him back, running your fingers through his long curls. His fingers grip your hips tightly and he picks you up suddenly causing you to gasp in surprise but he keeps his lips sealed to yours, kissing you deeply. You wrap your legs around him, one arm still around his neck while you pull his hair with your other hand and he bites your lip in response. Loki moves to the foot of the bed and drops you carefully onto your back. He looks down at you with a smile you know means you're not leaving this bed any time soon. Your legs dangle off the edge and you begin to move towards the pillows.
“Where do you think you're going?” he chuckles. He grabs you by your ankles and easily pulls you back to him, you giggle with nervous excitement. Loki kneels on the edge of the bed then he positions himself on top of you. His lips quickly find yours again as you feel his body press you into the soft mattress. Your fingers coil through his hair as his kisses trail down your jaw, neck and collar bones. Your back arches to meet his lips as he kisses every inch of skin on your check that is exposed by the deep v neck of your t- shirt. One of his hands is next to your head, gripping the sheet and supporting him, while the other finds the hem of your t-shirt. He slowly slides his hand up your stomach, his fingers causing goosebumps to form as they move under your shirt.
You hear three sharp knocks at the front door to your apartment and your grip on the back of Loki's shirt tightens. "Loki?" you try to get his attention but he presses his hips down against yours and continues to kiss your neck as if he hasn't heard the person waiting at your door. You bite your lip to quiet a moan as Loki slides your shirt higher, his fingers moving steadily upwards.
"Ignore it, love," he whispers and you can't help but nod, his lips barely touching your ear. You forget about your visitor when Loki's lips meet yours again, one of your hands moves down his back to his ass and he chuckles against your mouth when you squeeze his cheek.
Two more loud knocks break your focus from Loki. His lips leave your skin as he sits up, his attention shifting to the one responsible for interrupting his time with you. "Who in the nine realms could that possibly be?" he asks, not expecting you to answer. You look away, avoiding any eye contact with the annoyed God above you. He looks down at you, surprised to see you aren't as upset about being disturbed as he is. "Y/N?" he asks, slowly tilting your face so you are looking directly up at him and you smile nervously.
"I... um... I invited your brother over," you mumble from underneath his large frame.
He looks at you in shock and at the sound of two more knocks, he groans loudly. He drops his head down on the bed next to yours and you stifle a laugh at how cute he looks when he is annoyed.
"Come on," you rub his back lightly and he lifts his head just enough to look at you. "It could be fun," you say hopefully.
He sighs in response, clearly not believing you and if you were being honest, you weren't sure if you believed that either. This had the potential to be a great experience for both of them or a complete and utter disaster.
Loki moves so he is sitting on the edge of the bed, squeezing the bridge of his nose with his eyes closed tight. You climb off the bed, fixing your hair and adjusting your t-shirt as you stand in front of Loki. He opens his eyes and you lean down to kiss him lightly, a smile begin to creep across his lips and you quickly take a step back. He reaches out, catching you easily around the waist and pulls you back to him.
"Tell him to leave," Loki urges with a smirk as he looks up, one hand remains around your waist while the other strokes your cheek.
He runs his fingers under your chin and brings your lips to his and you feel yourself giving into him once again. With his arm still holding your waist, he lifts you onto his lap and then he tries to pull you with him back onto the bed. You break the kiss and put your hands on his shoulders to separate yourself from him. You smile while shaking your head at his attempt to continue where he left off.
You wanted nothing more in this moment then to tell Thor to go away and let Loki take you on your bed one more time before you move but you had a plan and you needed to stick to it. He would just have to be patient and wait until the move was finished and his brother leaves to continue. A part of you was very excited about the idea that Loki would more be desperate for you all day. That hadn't originally been a part of your plan but it wasn't something you were going to complain about. You knew from past experiences, the more frustrated you made Loki during the day, the longer your night was going to be when he was finally able to have you. You smile to yourself as you think it was a good thing you had taken off from work tomorrow. It was still early but based on the way the day was progressing, you were going to need your rest after tonight.
He groans in defeat, letting go of you as he lays on the bed with his hands over his face. "Don't be so dramatic Mischief," you laugh, taking one of his hands and pulling him to a seated position. "It wouldn't kill you to be nice to your brother for a few hours."
"No, but I might very well kill him," he suggests and you sigh as you leave your bedroom, checking over your shoulder to make sure he is following you. You walk quickly through the living room as Thor knocks again. You had to give it to him, the God of Thunder was persistent.
“Hey Thor, sorry about that. We didn't hear you knocking. Come on in,” you say with a welcoming smile.
"Ah, I will have to remember to knock louder next time,” he replies.
"Wonderful," Loki says sarcastically as he leans on the wall next to the couch, his arms crossed tightly.
You ignore Loki's mood and so does his older brother. "Thanks for coming," you tell him.
"Of course. Always glad to help," he replies happily as he gives you a hug, lifting you a few inches off the ground.
“Careful not to crush her, brother” Loki says protectively from behind you and Thor sets you down. Before you can say anything to either of them, there is another series of loud knocks and you quickly make eye contact with Loki. He looks more annoyed than he did when Thor entered, if possible and you shrug to let him know you don't know who it is either.
"Uh, hi Steve," you say when you open the door again.
Steve gives you a quick hug and you take a step back so he can come into your apartment. “Thor told me you were moving today and we figured you could use the extra hands,” he says cheerfully, Thor pats him on the back before taking a seat on your couch.
"Um, yea this is great. Thanks," you force a smile as you start to close the door. You hear footsteps down the hall and poke your head out to see Sam and Bucky slowly coming towards your apartment. You open the door wide and take a step out to meet them, "What are you guys doing here?"
"There are more of them?" Loki asks in no one in particular as he throws his hands up.
Sam walks past you into your room with a small almost apologetic wave while Bucky explains, “Steve made us come."
Steve rolls his eyes at Bucky and you laugh a little at his honesty. "Is anyone else coming?" you ask Steve nervously as you close the door.
"There better not be," Loki says sternly.
"Nope, just us," Steve answers, either unaware of how much he is annoying Loki with his presence or not caring.
You look around your living room at Thor who has made himself at home on your couch with his feet on your coffee table, Loki leaning against the wall near his brother, grinding his teeth so harshly you can almost hear it and your three friends standing by your door. “Wow... so I have two Gods," you point at the brothers making Thor smile and Loki roll his eyes again, "Two super soldiers," you count Bucky and Steve who gives you a thumbs up, "And-"
"And Sam," Bucky finishes for you with a smile, obviously pleased with himself.
"Right... and Sam," you laugh as Sam hits Bucky in the left arm, regretting it instantly. "My point is, I'm just moving from one floor to another and I've got a ton of help," you tell them.
“Surely one God is more than enough,” Loki insists with a wide smile as he walks over to you, his arms stretched out dramatically.
You walk into his waiting arms and kiss his cheek, whispering to him, “It's going to be fun, I promise."
“What would be fun is finishing what we started before my idiot brother and the others showed up,” he replies, his hand quickly moves to cup your backside and he squeezes it causing you to gasp then playfully hit his hand away.
“We can do that tonight, in our place,” you tell him and he sighs knowing once you have set your mind to something, there is little he can do to change it.
The room is quiet for a moment then Steve asks “So... what do you need us to do?” awkwardly as he claps his hands together.
“Leave,” Loki answers immediately, waving vaguely towards the door and you put your hand over his mouth.
"Sounds good to us," Bucky agrees with a shrug and Sam opens the door to the hallway but Thor doesn't move from his seat on the couch.
“He’s just kidding,” you tell them as Loki licks your hand causing you to pull it away quickly, he winks in response and you roll your eyes but can't help letting out a slight laugh. It wasn't the first time he licked you but he didn't usually do it around the team and it was typically in a less joking manner.
"Get back here," Steve closes the door, keeping Sam and Bucky from leaving. "You guys said you were happy to help Y/N out today," he reminds them.
"That's not even close to what we said," Sam replies as he shakes his head.
"We said we were happy to not have to go on a ten mile run with you this morning," Bucky corrects Steve.
“There isn’t a lot to move honestly, I think this should be pretty quick,” you promise everyone with a forced smile and no one replies.
Thor breaks the silence by getting up and hugging you again, he says, "Well I'll help you with whatever you need. I'm just so happy for the two of you. Moving in together is a big step in any relationship.” He sets you down and turns his attention towards Loki who takes a step backwards from his brother. For a second, you think Thor might actually catch him in a hug but the God of Mischief is just quick enough, narrowly avoiding his outstretched arms at the last second.
You laugh as you watch them together. They might not be related by blood but there is no doubt in your mind that they are brothers.
"I don't see why you need to make such a fuss," Loki tells Thor. "Y/N has spent almost every night at my place since we started dating. Most of her clothes and a fair amount of her belongings are already there."
"That's the whole point," you explain and Loki looks at you. "It was your place, but now it'll be our place."
"I understand that, darling, but I'm still not giving anyone a hug over it," Loki mumbles as he keeps his distance from Thor.
"I always knew he was the sentimental type," Sam says sarcastically to Bucky but when Loki glares at him he steps slightly behind Steve.
"Oh, don't look at him like that," you tell Loki and he looks down, putting his hands in his pockets. Sam steps out from behind Steve. "You and I both know you're excited about me moving in with you," you say with your hands on your hips.
"Of course I am excited," he agrees, "But I would be more excited if this whole experience hadn't turned into a team building exercise."
You put your arms around his neck and look up at him, "Look at it this way, the more help we have the faster I can move and the sooner we will be alone." You wink at the word 'alone' and he smiles.
"Very well," he tells you and you pull back, smiling up at him. You kiss his cheek quickly and take his hand as you decide what everyone should help with.
"Ok..." you think. "I guess Steve and Bucky, you guys can pack up the kitchen. Sam, you can help me out here in the living room," they all nod but Loki raises an eyebrow as he waits for you to tell him what you need him to do. "Loki, you and Thor can finish up in the bedroom. Most of my clothes are upstairs already but there are still some things in the back of the closet that need to be boxed up." Thor slaps Loki on the back cheerfully and everyone splits up to their assigned spaces.
Tumblr media
You glance uncomfortably at the closed door to your bedroom while you place the picture frames Sam hands you into a box. At first the door had been left open but about fifteen minutes into packing, Thor closed it. He didn't slam it, he didn't shut it hard, he just calmly closed it without a word to anyone. For the first few minutes after it was closed, you found yourself waiting anxiously for Loki to open the door and storm out of the room or for the screaming to start but nothing happened. You weren't sure if the quiet made you more or less worried but you hoped that meant they were finally talking, you didn't even care what they were talking about just as long as it didn't lead to a fight.
You make sure to flash a bright smile when Bucky and Steve walk into the living room with four boxes from the kitchen. You were thankful for the extra help of course but your plan was to use today as a means of literally forcing the two brothers together, even if it killed one of them. You hated that the only time they spent together outside of missions was to train a few hours a week. They only spoke during training sessions to criticize each other or to gloat. As soon as the session was over, they went their separate ways because if they were together any longer, they would begin fighting.
Despite what Loki may think, you know Thor still cares for his younger brother the same way he always had, before they found out Laufey was his real father, before he fell from the Bifrost, before Thanos manipulated him into attacking New York. Thor had told you how he felt about Loki one horribly long night several months ago.
Loki had been badly injured during a failed mission and remained unconscious even after he had been brought back to the Tower. Thor waited with you by Loki’s bedside in the infirmary until he finally woke up the next morning. You held Loki's hand waiting for him to open his eyes while Thor told you stories about how close they had been as children. He smiled broadly as he recounted the numerous pranks he had been the victim of and the dozens of spells that had been practiced on him.
The next day, you thanked Thor for sitting with you but you told him it made you sad to think that they had grown so far apart in such a few years. A part of you worried that Loki would keep pushing Thor further and further away until his older brother finally gave up and left.
Thor smiled at you and told you never needed to worry about that happening. He put his hand on your shoulder and said, "I will always be here for Loki, whether he wants me to be or not. He will always be my brother."
Tumblr media
"Do you think this is a good idea?" Sam asks as he takes down the last picture that was hanging over your couch. You stare blankly at him, having been too lost in your thoughts to hear his question the first time.
He asks again and this time you answer. "I'm honestly not sure but I hope so," you reply nervously.
Steve and Bucky place the boxes full of pots, pans and cooking utensils by your front door. Loki had a much larger kitchen then you did but the only time he used it was to make himself tea.
"I think it's a great idea, Y/N," Steve says optimistically. "What could possibly go wrong?"
Bucky sighs loudly, "They could end up trying to kill each other and destroy half the Tower in the process."
"My money is definitely on Loki," Sam says without looking away from the box he is sealing up but he turns when he feels everyone looking at him. "What? Oh come on, Loki is scary as hell."
Bucky shrugs, neither agreeing or disagreeing with him. Steve nods and says, "You make an interesting point and he does seem to be in a bit of a mood today."
"Yeah, because he's usually so excited to see all of us," Bucky says as he sits on the couch. Steve takes a seat next to him and Sam places the box he is done with on top of the pile they had started.
"Hmm..." Steve thinks. "I think I would have to go with Thor, in a fight between them I mean. Especially if he had Mjolnir." He mimics swinging the hammer and Sam laughs as you sit on the floor by the box you are filling with books. You try to ignore them as you feel a headache beginning to form.
"Yea, hopefully we'll have enough time to duck if Thor calls for it otherwise it'll take us out when it comes flying through here," Bucky adds.
"The good news is, it doesn't sound like they are fighting... Unless Loki just used his magic to turn Thor into a house plant or something," Sam jokes.
"Do you think he could actually do that?" Steve wonders and Bucky puts his hand over his face.
"Ok, you guys know what?" you interrupt them and they all look over at you. "This isn't actually helping," you tell them, rubbing your eyes as your headache thumps.
"Sorry about that Y/N," Steve says sheepishly and the others nod.
"We'll bring these upstairs for you," Sam says.
The three of them pick up all the boxes stacked by the door and leave, closing the door quietly behind them. You get up from where you are sitting next to your bookshelf and walk slowly over to your bedroom door. Leaning against it carefully, you try to hear what is going on inside. The door swings open just as your ear touches the wood and you stand up straight, trying to act like you weren't trying to eavesdrop. You giggle nervously as Thor looks down at you with a smile.
"He's all yours," he says, walking past you with two large boxes and a duffel bag.
You close the door slightly at you go inside and see Loki closing the drawers on your now empty dresser. "Hi Mischief," you say, testing his mood as you walk over to him.
He turns and smiles at you, "Hello love."
"So... it looks like you didn't turn your brother into a houseplant," you say, pointing over your shoulder towards where your had gone.
"I would never do that," he responds seriously then with a smirk he adds, "I did turn him into a frog a few times when we were children though."
"You did what!?" you ask in disbelief and he laughs, taking a seat on your bed which has been stripped down to just the mattress.
"Don't worry, the effects never lasted very long," he explains and you sit next to him.
He puts his arm around your waist and pulls you close to him, you rest your head on his shoulder. You sit quietly for a moment, he lets go of your waist and slowly runs his fingers up and down your back, you can feel your headache slipping away as you relax. "So does this mean you aren't mad at me for leaving you alone with Thor?" you ask.
He shakes his head then says, "I'm not." You don't say anything in the hopes that he will tell you what happened and after a minute or two he takes a deep breath. "Thor told me that you are worried the distance growing between us."
You nod and sit up so you can look at him, taking his hand. He admits, "I was worried too. We used to talk about anything but ever since Laufey and Thanos, it's been hard if not impossible at times."
"I thought..." he pauses for a second, "I assumed he blamed me for having to leave Asgard. I had been under the impression that he was being forced to stay here in order to watch over me but he said he chose to stay so I wouldn't be alone."
He shakes his head and looks down at the floor, you squeeze his hand and he looks back at you. "I'm so glad you two talked and were honest with each other," to tell him with a smile.
"We still have more to talk about but I feel optimistic for the first time in a years," he says, "I don't know how to thank you for this. I love you, Y/N."
"I love you too," you tell him then you lean forward and kiss him. He kisses you back, his hand resting lightly on your cheek and his other hand moves to your waist. You giggle against his lips as he pulls you effortlessly onto his lap. You run your fingers through his hair and continue to kiss him as he lays back on the bed, pulling you with him.
You sit up quickly at the sound of two sharp knocks on your partial closed bedroom door. You look over your shoulder and see Thor standing in the doorway looking anywhere but at you. "Um..." he says, "We finished bringing everything upstairs."
"Thanks Thor," you answer. "We'll be right up."
He closes the door and you laugh as you try to get up but Loki keeps his arms around you. You kiss his nose and he groans, "To be continued?" You smile and nod as you get up.
Tumblr media
"Thanks for all your help guys!" you say to everyone as you place the last empty box in the pile by the door. You still can't believe how quickly packing and unpacking went, especially when Loki decided to use his magic to try and hurry the process along. He barely had to flick his wrist and all of the kitchenware was neatly organized in the cabinets.
You ask them, "Is anyone hungry? I can order some food if you want."
Loki shakes his head and says, "Haven't they been here long enough, love?"
You roll your eyes but smile again as Bucky answers, "I could always go for pizza."
"Same," Sam agrees, raising his hand unnecessarily.
"I would never turn down food," Thor says.
"Oh, pizza sounds good," Steve smiles, throwing himself into Loki's reading chair in the corner. Thor and Bucky make themselves comfortable on the couch and Sam drags over a chair from the dining room to the coffee table.
Loki comes behind you and puts his arms around you, holding you tight to his chest. "You know if you feed them, they will never leave," he whispers as he kisses just below your ear. You laugh and you look up, giving him your most charming smile. "Very well," he gives in, "Pizza it is."
"Coming right up," you say, kissing Loki's cheek as you free yourself from his long arms.
You pick up your phone from the coffee table and look up the number for your favorite place. You ask your friends what toppings they want and while they are discussing it Steve’s phone goes off. At the same time Sam and Bucky's phones goes off as well as Thor and Loki's. All five of them take out their phones and read the message, the smiles gone from their faces.
“This can’t be good,” you put your phone down and walk over to Loki.
Thor shakes his head, then he stands up from his seat on the couch, “It's not. I'm sorry Y/N, we have to go.”
"Please be safe," you tell them, giving each of your friends a hug as they leave. "I love you," you whisper to Loki as he hugs you tightly.
He kisses you then runs his fingers down your cheek lightly. "I love you too. I will be back soon," he promises you and you force a smile as he closes the door, leaving you standing alone in your shared apartment.

The other side part 1 : Imagine the Avengers as villains
(by the power invested in me, you are magically teleported to another dimension.)
Pov : You are an Avenger with the ability to shapeshift (nobody knows about your powers, not even the Avengers.) You prefer not to use them and concentrate on being a good agent for the SHIELD. However, one day, you wake up and find that some things have changed..
Tony Stark :
Tumblr media
You wake up in a deserted place. Everything seems so familiar, and yet so different. You seem to be in the Avengers tower but, everything is so dark and gloom. There is no light and this is when you hear footsteps walking in your direction. You try to get up and get in a defensive position, but your head is swinging. Suddenly, there is light. It takes you a moment to get used to the blinding light, but once you do, you recognize the person instantly.
" T..Tony ?"
You manage to ask as the man is now clearly in view. However, he doesn't respond. He only eyes you up and down with a stare that makes you shiver in fear. He suddenly walks towards you and his hand slides in your inner pocket to get out your identity card. He takes a glance and frowns before uttering.
" Y/N L/N.."
He then looks up at you with his eyes narrowed in suspicion.
" Who are you ? And how did you get in here ?"
You are surprised that he doesn't recognize you and you start to think that all of this is some kind of joke.
" Come on, Tony ! It's me ! I'm your friend !"
His eyes darken and he only chuckles.
" Sorry for you, sweetheart. I don't have any friends."
Suddenly, he puts on his suit that, instead of being its usual bright red and yellow color, is now black and silver. You frown in incomprehension and take a step back.
" T..Tony. You can't hurt me. You're a hero, remember ?"
But Tony only laughs from inside his suit at your words.
" Me ? A hero ? You are losing it.."
You shake your head, confused, and cry out.
" But, you are ! You saved me ! You care about people !"
He seems to think for a moment and, to your surprise, gets out of the suit to stare at you with an eyebrow raised.
"Me ? Care ? It's like you're describing a whole other man, sweetcheeks. The truth is..I don't care. The world can burn. Money is power. And if I follow that logic, I'm a God..And why would a God meddle with commoners ?"
You can't believe what you are hearing..Tony seems so cold now, looking down at you as if you are an ant on his path..It scares you..But then, someone crashes through the window and stands in front of you defensively.
" Mister Stark ! You're under arrest !"
To your surprise, you recognize the voice of Peter..But why would he attack Stark ?! It doesn't make any sense ! But, Tony doesn't seem surprised. He only gets back to his suit and smiles at Peter with a wicked grin.
" We meet again, Spiderboy. You know, my offer still stands. You can join me ?"
But Peter shakes his head negatively before shouting.
" Never !"
You are shocked and finally, try to talk to Peter that doesn't seem surprised either.
" P..Peter ?"
He turns his head towards you, surprised that you would know his name. However, before you could say anything else, you black out.
Bruce Banner :
Tumblr media
You smile widely as you recognize Dr Banner. But the moment you take one step towards him, he cowers in fear. You instantly know that something is wrong, as he has marks of torture all over his body and wraps his arms around himself defensively.
" Who are you ?! I..I'll call them !"
You frown in incomprehension. Call who ? He seems to understand your confusion and adds.
" The..The Downfallers ! They're going to kill you if you touch me !"
You are about to ask who are the Downfallers when someone appears behind you.
" No need for that, my friend. They're all gone."
You turn around to see a man in a black suit, looking at Banner that seems to be extremely frightened by the man.
" Dr Kaecilius.."
He whispers almost painfully. You automatically put yourself in front of Dr Banner with your arms extended, ready to defend him if the man was to hurt him. The man arks an eyebrow at your action, but only asks with curiosity.
" Why are you defending him ?"
You try to see if it's a trap, but once you know he isn't joking, you answer.
" Because Dr Banner is a good man that protects lots of people ! Him and Hulk have done many good things to protect Earth and I won't let you hurt him !"
To your utter surprise, it's Dr Banner that replies spitefully.
" They caged me. They tracked me. They tortured me..Why would I ever protect them ?"
This..This can't be right. Doctor Banner loves people. He wants to help people. But then, Dr Banner screams and groans in agony. You want to kneel beside him to help, but the man suddenly tackles you to the ground as Dr Banner, now Hulk, throws a desk at you before jumping through a window. The last thing you see are the eyes of Dr Kaecilius before you black out.
Antman :
Tumblr media
You wake up in a room you don't recognize and see Scott by your side. You smile in relief.
" Oh my God! I'm so glad to see you, Scott! You won't believe what happened ! One moment I'm in the lounge with everyone and then suddenly, I end up here and..What are you doing ?"
You notice that he has his hands inside a nearby cupboard and he suddenly stands up with his hands in the air.
" Oh. Oops. You got me. Guilty as charge. I was going to rob you but then I noticed that..well..you don't really have anything."
You ark an eyebrow. Scott ? Stealing ? This is new..
" Thank you..I think ?"
He then starts dancing and you frown in confusion.
" Humm..What are you doing now ?"
" Keeping you busy, darling."
You don't even have the time to understand what he means when you get hit on the back of the head by someone. You hear them running out of the house by the window, followed by another set of footsteps.
" Sh*t!"
It's the last thing you hear before blacking out completely.
Dr Strange :
Tumblr media
You find yourself in a strange place where words seem to be floating around you. You can breathe and hear two people fighting not far from you. You get up and are shocked to see Dr Strange and Wanda..fighting ?! You don't have the time to think more about the situation when Wanda shouts.
" It's over ! Give up, Dr Strange ! I'm stronger than you will ever be !"
You crawl even closer to hear them better and try to understand the situation. Plus, who are you supposed to side with ?! However, the answer quickly comes as Strange let's out his best evil laugh before replying to Wanda in a threatening low voice.
" Maybe, but I will never tire. I can't say the same for you. I can keep dying and dying. But, there will be one time when you will be too tired to fight, and then, I'll kill you. This is how things are now, Witch ! You and me. Trapped in this moment. Endlessly."
She grits her teeths and starts shooting at him, trying to hit him. He only laughs while dodging every single one of her attacks. Suddenly, you lose your grip and fall right in the middle of the fight. They both look at you with widened eyes, surprised, as you get up and look at the both of them, unable to find your words.
" Who are you ?!"
Dr Strange finally yells and you turn towards him with an awkward smile.
" Ah ah. Funny you ask. My name is Y/N. And I come from a dimension where we are..friends ?"
He quickly checks your story and his eyes widen as he finds out that you are right. He wants to get to you, but Wanda puts herself in front of you defensively and Stephen frowns, clearly annoyed.
" Move, Witch. This has nothing to do with you."
But she refuses and Strange sighs loudly.
" Fine. I'll delay your death, for now."
He then clicks his fingers together and you find yourself on Earth. Wanda looks back at you to make sure you are alright, but you black out.
Bucky :
Tumblr media
You don't even have the time to understand what's going on that Bucky is standing in front of you with a slight smirk.
" Hello doll..Mind if I borrow you for a second ?"
You don't have the time to answer that he takes you by the arm and points the head of his gun against your head.
" Get out of there, Loki ! Or I kill them !"
To your surprise, Loki gets out from underneath a car and raises his hands in surrender.
" Don't do it, Bucky. Let the human go.."
But Bucky doesn't and only digs the end of his gun further against your skull, painfully.
" I don't know..Depends. Are you willing to give me what I want ?"
Loki looks at you for a second before sighing in defeat and taking out a bright blue cube from underneath his cloak.
" Give me the human, and it's yours."
You bite your lower lip. Is it a nightmare ?! Loki is actually bargaining your life for the tesseract ?! He smiles reassuringly at you and you can't help but smile back..Even though Bucky is still threatening you with a gun.
" Give me the tesseract..and I'll consider it."
Loki takes a shaky breath before walking towards him with the tesseract in his hand. Suddenly, he stops and smirks at Bucky.
" Catch."
He then throws the Tesseract in the air and Bucky pushes you forwards to catch the tesseract. Loki catches you and whispers to you.
" Hold on."
To your biggest surprise, he gets out Mjölnir and summons a portal to get out of here. You look at Bucky that catched..nothing. The tesseract was a false and he glares at Loki that only winks in response. He lets out a scream of rage and starts running towards you, but you disappear before he can reach you.
Thor :
Tumblr media
You smile when you recognize Thor and run towards him. However, you quickly slow down when you see his sour face. He continues to advance menacingly towards you with Stormbreaker in his hand. You quickly understand that something is wrong and throw yourself on the floor as he uses Stormbreaker to throw lightning at you. To your greatest horror, it hits some SHIELD agents behind you. You turn towards Thor with tears in your eyes as you scream.
" Thor ! What's happening to you ?!"
He doesn't answer you, he just uses his thunder to grab some SHIELD agents and throw them away. Your eyes widen as he seems to be on a murder rampage. You try to get to him, but someone does it first. You can't believe your eyes when you see Hella with tears in her eyes.
" Thor ! Brother ! Please ! Stop this nonsense at once !"
But he doesn't listen to her and grabs his axe to attack her. He isn't himself..and so isn't Hella. She just tried to save you ! And wasn't she dead ?! You are so confused and before you can really comprehend what's happening to you, you black out.
Captain America :
Tumblr media
You find yourself in a deserted metro station and turn around to see..
" Oh thank God ! Captain, can you explain what's going on ?!"
But Steve stays quiet and you quickly notice that something is definitely wrong..He is looking threateningly at you and the way he moves makes you shiver in fear. You take a step back and this is when he asks coldly.
" Who are you ? And how do you know me ?"
This is when you know that this is not your Steve in front of you. It can't be..But then, another man appears that you don't recognize..He has long graceful blond hair and his whole appearance screams fantasy tale. He stands in front of you defensively and Steve automatically chuckles darkly in hatred.
" Ronan..I was wondering when you would show up.."
The blond man quickly looks back at you to check that you are alright before looking back at Rogers with a frown. Ronan..You had heard that name before..but where ?
" Surrender, Captain..Or you may regret it."
But Rogers doesn't listen to him and only whistles. An helicopter appears and Captain tauntingly waves goodbye before running outside and jumping to catch a rope. Ronan quickly runs after him. You try to get after them as well, but suddenly black out.
Falcon :

You see Falcon attacking some members of SHIELD and frown in confusion. Was there spies among your ranks ? You approach Falcon and start fighting by his side. However, at the end, he only glares at you before taking something that strangely looks like the tesseract..
" I'm taking this with me..I appreciate the help but, the tesseract is mine, cutie."
You frown..He had never called you cutie before. And if this is the tesseract, why sound so menacing when you would both bring it back to the tower ? However, you don't have the time to think more about it since you spot Zemo, looking down at Sam. You tackle Sam to the ground just in time as Zemo starts shooting at him. However, Sam suddenly pushes you out of him harshly and jumps out to fly away. You think it's like at training, you have to take his legs and you would both fly home..But when you jump and catch his legs, he seems surprised at first and then, gives you a hard glare before harshly stomping on your hands. You fall and scream. You close your eyes and try to contain your tears as the world goes black.
Hawkeye :
Tumblr media
You don't have the time to truly process what's going on that you see an arrow lodge right in the eye of a SHIELD agent. You would recognize that arrow anywhere..
" Oh no..Hawkeye. What have you done ?"
You run in the direction of the arrow and find him, surrounded by many dead bodies. Your hand flies to your mouth so fast and you feel nauseous as Hawkeye turns towards you. His eyes are as cold as ice and they seem to pierce right through you.
" Well..That's a first..I missed one."
You are so shocked by his sudden change in behavior that you don't react when he walks towards you menacingly. He takes his bow and suddenly shoots an arrow at you, but a bright blue light runs in front of you stops the arrow. You automatically recognize..Quicksilver ? But..But that's impossible.
" Bet you didn't see that coming.."
He gets put his infamous line and you know, it's him. However, Hawkeye only chuckles darkly.
" As a matter of fact, I did."
Suddenly, the arrow exploses and sends Quicksilver flying against a wall. You immediately run by his side to check if he is still breathing and sigh in relief as you feel a pulse. You look up to see Hawkeye walking away and stand up to yell at him.
" What happened to you, Clint ?!"
Hawkeye stops dead in his tracks at his first name and turns around to look one last time at you. He narrows his eyes, as if he couldn't recognize you before running away. You want to get back to Quicksilver..But the world turns black.
Black Widow :
Tumblr media
You end up in a sort of complex where you see multiple agents on the floor. You take out your own gun, wondering if an enemy had succeeded in entering..However, you are relieved to see Natasha walking towards you. You smile and want to ask if everything is alright, but she suddenly gets out two guns and starts shooting at you. You just have the time to jump out of the way. Your heartbeat quickens. Why is she shooting at you ?!
"Natasha! It's me! It's Y/N!"
But she doesn't seem to hear you..or to even recognize you. She just continues shooting until someone runs past you, avoiding all of her bullets with frightening agility. They start fighting each other and you are impressed by the other agent's fighting techniques. He is as or even better than Natasha ! His fighting skills are incredible. However, Natasha still manages to get the upper hand and throws a kick at his face that sends him flying. She then throws some kind of mini-bombs and you immediately put yourself on top of him. You didn't like using your powers, but you wouldn't let him die after he saved you life. You grow some kind of shell around you both. The bombs explode and when it's safe, you retract and get up. Natasha is gone and you have a knocked out agent on the floor..Great. However, you suddenly feel yourself blacking out and fall to the floor as well.

You woke up confused, checking your watch after noticing the emptiness of the bed with a slight disappointment. It was 1 p.m. already. You stretched and yawned, sitting up. The room was completely dark. Loki liked to keep his blinds down.
You got up, put your dress back on, headed to the bathroom, fixed your hair and grabbed your gown. Loki's absence made the room feel foreign, almost as if you weren't allowed to be in there without him. It was finally time for you to go home. You looked for your phone and found it charging on the nightstand. Loki must have done that for you.
You checked it, no new messages except the messages from your mother that you did not feel like opening.
You laid the gown on the ottoman and opened the blinds of the bedroom, letting some sun in. As you did so, the bedroom door opened again, "she finally woke up." The familiar voice spoke up, allowing a mix of relief and nervousness to fill you, "how did you sleep, pet?"
"I slept alright. Thank you for letting me rest. I needed it. Did Sophie come looking for me?" You asked without turning around, trying to settle your mixed emotions.
"She did. I told her I would take you home when you woke up." He answered, walking towards you, each step making your heart beat faster.
"Okay, do you think you could take me home?" You continued looking out the window, feeling his presence a mere step behind you.
"You are leaving me already?" He said, moving ominously close to you, exhaling through his nose as he noticed you stiffen up.
"I wanna spend some time with my friend. Sundays are pretty much the only time she has off." You answered, turning around, breaking the tension with a cold expression.
"She is in the city with Thor." He answered, scrutinizing your face, trying to understand how you truly felt. He tilted his head slightly, his eyes moving across your features, waiting for you to answer.
"Amazing, it happens every time. She gets a guy, and then she is gone." You rolled your eyes, breaking the eye contact and stepping away, putting real distance between your bodies and giving him your back.
"I think you are being rather harsh. You were asleep with a 'guy'. Not much she could do." He defended your friend, giving you a disapproving glare.
"Maybe yeah, but still. You'll see, I will end up spending my Sundays alone from now on." You sighed, "but yeah, please take me home anyway."
"Well, as your friend is not home yet, would you like to go with me somewhere?" He asked. You bit your lip at his words, ignoring the slight excitement that filled your stomach before convincing yourself that you were just happy you didn't have to be alone.
"Where would you like to go?" You turned to him, a blank expression on your face.
"Do you know how to drive?" He smiled cheekily.
As you walked towards the exit of the building, you ran into some of the Avengers and thanked them for their hospitality.
Once outside, you ran towards Loki's car excitedly as he walked behind you, carrying your dress. He opened the car, and you sat on the driver's seat while he put the dress in the back. He entered the passenger's seat and smiled at you.
"I am excited!" You squealed, smiling brightly. He looked at you, giving you a half-smile and shaking his head. Regardless of whether you had to spend time with Loki or not, you were about to do something you had almost dreamt of doing, which excused his presence.
"So, I know it must be confusing for you to drive on the opposite side of the road, but I need you to drive to the motor club, so I know you won't kill us both once you are racing. So follow my instructions." He told you the directions, and you started driving immediately. You had not driven such a powerful car in very long, or any car at all for that matter.
After around 20 minutes of driving, you arrived at the motor club and saw the racing porches parked outside. You squealed again in excitement, hitting Loki in the leg. "Oh my god! Am I gonna drive that?"
He chuckled once again and nodded. You parked, and both of you got out, meeting the concierge who showed you the changing rooms, where you guessed Loki had provided the racing gear you needed.
Once you stepped out of the changing room, Loki was standing in his matching racing gear, smiling at you. "Ready to go?" You nodded back.
The next thing you knew, the concierge was guiding you to your car. You would typically have an instructor, but Loki decided he could teach you. The car was beautiful. It looked like nothing you had been inside before. You put on your helmet, and Loki helped you get in.
He got in the passenger seat, and then you started driving towards the track, immediately scared by how responsive the pedals were. Maybe that was his plan all along to make you crash the car and kill you. Once you got to the starting line, you punched him in the arm.
"What was that for?" He asked, alarmed.
"I had to check that you were actually here and not a hologram. I am not about to die alone in this car." You laughed, feeling a childish euphoria you hadn't felt in a while.
It took you a bit to overcome the fear of going fast, but after a couple of rounds around the track, you felt comfortable accelerating. You felt full of adrenaline, and although you could not see him, Loki could not take his eyes off you.
You spent the next hour growing more and more confident until you finally stopped. You parked the car and got out of it clumsily, taking off your helmet while giving your back to Loki, who also got out. Before turning around, you tried to fix your hair as much as possible.
"Did you enjoy that?" He asked you.
"Yes! Oh my god, that was so fun! So much adrenaline." You smiled at him, giggling.
"Yes, I know, you flimsy humans really get the most happiness through near-death experiences." He spoke out factually.
"Thank you for bringing me here. It was fun." You thanked him as you walked back to the changing rooms. The concierge asked Loki if you two would stay for lunch, but you shook your head and let him know that you should head back home.
You took a brisk shower to remove all the sweat from the gear and put back the clothes Loki had given you this morning. You left the changing room and saw Loki waiting for you by your car. "Shall I take you home?" He asked politely once you walked to him.
"Yes, please." The drive home was tense, not because of the usual negative tension between the two of you but because there were a lot of unspoken new feelings in the air. You felt conflicted, as you had just experienced a different side to this man than the one you had dealt with previously.
After a couple of minutes of awkward silence, he played some classical music which continued for the entire ride. You got to your apartment building, and he parked in the front "thank you for taking me home… and for everything else." You said, looking at him. Hesitation covered his face again, and you felt unsure how to proceed. "Goodbye, Loki," you whispered, pressing a kiss on his cheek and getting out of the car.
He did not answer. You closed the car's door, grabbed your dress from the back, and started walking towards your building. Once inside, you went upstairs to find the flat empty. You turned on the TV and started watching a re-run of a random show you did not know.
Not even 20 minutes later, your intercom rang. You looked at the camera. There he was, standing, looking deadly handsome. You felt your heart drop as you picked up the phone. "If you are not gonna answer my calls or messages, can you at least talk to me in person?" He asked his tone a mix of bitterness and regret.
"Come upstairs." You buzzed him in, feeling slightly nauseous. You did not feel like having this conversation, especially after spending the morning with Loki and sleeping in his bed.
You looked at yourself in the mirror before he knocked on the door.
"Hi."
"May I come in?" He asked politely. You stepped to the side so he could enter the flat. The tension in the room grew thick as he stepped forward, smelling Loki's cologne on your body and going instantly rigid.
"What do you want?" You broke the silence as you closed the door, hoping this interaction would end as soon as possible.
"I wanted to see you, I have been calling you and texting you, and you just don't pick up." He answered politely, however, with a hint of frustration in his voice. He didn't look at you, trying his best to hold himself together as one thought overwhelmed his mind.
"I have not received a single call or message from you. I guess you texted the wrong girl." You said, wrinkling your nose, sarcastic as you both walked towards the living room, halting in the middle of the room.
"Well, I have called and texted you. Maybe you were too busy with your little terrorist boyfriend," he answered, losing any charm or politeness he held before, unable to contain himself as his eyes finally met yours. He scrutinised every part of your face, looking for confirmation in your expression of his accusation.
"Oh wow, I thought you had come here to apologize, but I guess I was wrong" you rolled your eyes, moving away from him, feeling invaded by his disgusted stare.
"I have nothing to apologise for. I only owe you an explanation." He answered condescendingly, his chin rising slightly in disdain.
"I am not interested in your explanations. I don't care whether you are actually a doctor or whether the beautiful woman you were hanging out with yesterday is your partner. I don't care." You turned back to him with animosity.
"Why are you so upset? You spent the night flirting with a murderer." He spat out, forcing you to close his eyes, feeling an involuntary protective instinct towards Loki.
"You don't know him." you hissed, not even realising the words had left your lips until his expression grew even harsher.
"That's the thing I do. I know Loki better than you, for sure. You have no idea of anything, the world is so big, and you are stuck in your tiny problems. You don't even see what goes on around you." His words hit you like a punch to the stomach. The constant reminder by both men of your irrelevance and futility was growing repetitive and nauseating. They both made you so tired.
"I don't care about him, just as I don't care about you. I cannot believe you took the time to come here to insult me." You replied as your voice cracked, needy to put a clear distance between you and them.
"I did not. I came here to talk to you because I care about your perception of me." You exhaled and chuckled bitterly at his words before closing your eyes. Wow… he did not care about you, just how you perceived him, you thought.
"So tell me, enlighten me on the huge misjudgment of your character I have committed, Doctor." You responded sarcastically, looking back at him, this time your chin tilted up as you looked at him pedantically.
"I am a doctor, a surgeon. However, I no longer practice. My hands were broken beyond repair when I was in a car accident. I cannot keep them still enough to operate. That is also why I don't text." He ran his hand through his hair. "I am the sorcerer supreme now. I protect the universe and our reality from things like Loki, which threaten it continuously." He looked down before making eye contact with you, hoping his declaration would ease the tension. "That is who I am."
"Great, I am glad to know you are a wizard. It will make it even easier for you to disappear." You turned around and stepped towards the door, feeling bitterness fill your throat.
"What is wrong with you? Can you explain me?" He raised his voice, frustrated, stepping in your direction.
"You took her to a party, flirted with her, touched her, then you were going to drop her off and come fuck me." You turned back to him, "You were going to spend the night flirting … if not more… with a woman to drop her and pick up another one. How can you not see how disgusting that is." you spat the words out, insulted by his blindness.
"I was not flirting with her. She is a friend, I did not have anyone to take, and I owed her a favour after she saved my life. There was no further intention," He spoke up cocky, seemingly offended by your allegation.
"Well, don't we love whispering seductively and holding our friends!" You joked bitterly, dropping your hands dramatically.
"Well, you were the one putting up a show with your friend Loki. It did not take you long to find somebody to pay me back with." He sounded just as disgusted, matching your tone.
"That is the big difference, Strange. Loki is not my friend. I am not lying to you about my relationship with him. I despise Loki. He is arrogant and rude; however, he does not lie to me, which is more than I can expect from you." You tried to calm down, lowering your tone and challenging his gaze.
He ran his hand through his hair again "listen, I am sorry. It was stupid to be flirting with Christine when I was going to see you that night. I just had a few difficult days, and she has always been there for me. It was not intentional, but I am sorry anyway." He broke the eye contact before the apology left his lips, unwilling to bend.
"Just as I guessed, she is not just a friend." You laughed at his face. "I have no problem with you seeing other people. Just have the decency to leave a 12-hour break between them, so the women you are sleeping with don't have to feel like objects."
"I wasn't going to sleep with her", he answered, rolling his eyes at you casually. "Listen, I am sorry you don't understand the pressure I am under all the time. I don't have time for these childish fights. There is nothing between Christine and me."
That was the straw that broke the camel's back. You swallowed before biting down your jaw. "leave. I don't even know why you came here. Just leave."
He looked shocked, "Okay, wait. I am sorry, you are right…" he started talking and reached for your arm as you stepped towards the door again.
"I don't care. Go now. You have offended me enough. I don't deserve to be spoken to this way." You responded, moving away from his touch and pointing at the exit, eyes cold.
"I am sorry, you are right." He tried to come closer to you, but you simply raised your hand, keeping the distance between you. "Listen to me. I am sorry. I don't know what is wrong with me, I just entered the room, and you smell like him, and it reminded me of seeing you with him yesterday. It made my blood boil. Please just understand I did not mean any harm, but it won't happen again." He continued, "what I did was not right, and there is no valid excuse for it. I am honestly sorry."
He stood there before you, and his pleading face melted the anger in your chest. He saw your eyes soften and took the chance to get closer to you again. "I hated to see him touching you, every minute of it. You were driving me crazy, looking so beautiful in your dress. I just needed to be with you." He said, placing his hands on your shoulders delicately. You felt so overwhelmed, unsure whether to believe him. He looked sincere in his apology, and you understood where his current frustration came from. You felt an overwhelming need to just be okay, to stop the fighting and discussing.
"Okay…" you had never been good a keeping a grudge, "but please, no more lying. Not about calling me, about what you do, about anything," you answered, looking at the ground.
"I did not lie about calling you. I can show you on my phone," he responded, mildly annoyed that you did not believe him.
"It cannot be. Nobody else had access to my phone… except…." you started thinking, the way you had woken up and your phone still had battery and how there were no notifications on the lock screen and then the way Loki put it to charge again when you napped…
"Except?" He asked, slightly annoyed.
"Oh my god, fucking Loki", you rolled your eyes.
He looked at you with contempt "you spent the night with him." He was not asking. He knew, moving slightly away from you.
"Yes, is that a problem?" You answered confidently, eyes locked to his as you challenged him.
"You are allowed to do whatever you want. Whether I approve or not is not of any relevance. So if you want to have sex with terrorists, that is your prerogative," he responded.
"We did not have sex, or even kiss for that matter but thank you for the information", you insinuated, chuckling slightly.
He opened his mouth to say something but just gave up and grabbed your arms, pulling you in for a hug. He laid his head on yours and spoke up, "you looked very beautiful yesterday. I loved the dress."
"You looked pretty good yourself," you said, inhaling his scent in his chest. "Do I really smell that much like him? You are like the third person to bring it up."
"Yeah, you do. I guess he has a very peculiar smell." He responded, hugging you a little tighter. You thought Stephen smelled very good, while Loki's smell was very complex and not quite fitting on most occasions for its sheer strength. Stephen smelled refined, expensive, classical, almost like expensive wine. Loki's smell made everyone aware of it, while Stephen's was subtle and good-natured in every room, standing out only when necessary.
"You really can drink a lot. I was surprised." He added, finally letting you go, and you chuckled, knowing how much of a drinking machine you were.
"Have you had lunch yet?" You asked, and he looked at his phone, ignoring the watch on his wrist.
"It is 4:30. Of course, I've had lunch." He smiled, "should we go get you some food?"
"Yes, please, and if you have time, I would love to lie in some park before it gets dark," you smiled at him, and the look he gave you made you forget about everything that had happened in the past 24 hours.

It was no secret that Tony Stark loved to make a grand entrance to everything he does. This morning was no exception. The time was around 8:15 when Tony practically kicked your door down to rip your blinds open. Sometimes you almost felt as if he was just another father figure in your life.
“Rise and shine!” he announced, forcing sunlight into your room. “We have a big day today, Y/N, c’mon!” he spoke as he continued to shake you awake. You lazily blinked open your eyes, groaning when Tony ripped your blankets from you. You already knew what he was here for.
“Alright, whatcha got for me?” Tony asked as he looked for the paintings he had requested the night before. You sighed.
“A headache, that’s what I have for you.” you replied, shoving your face back into your pillow.
“No, you’re not allowed to have a headache.” he simply stated. “Let me guess, you don’t have any paintings picked out?” You sat up on your bed, rolling your eyes when you saw Tony standing in the middle of your room with his arms crossed like a child.
“I can pick some out in literally five minutes, Tony, just let me wake up.” you said waving your hand at him, hoping he’d be satisfied with your answer.
“Yeah? Well make it quick, I don’t have all day.” he argued, walking towards your door. “By the way, breakfast is ready.” Tony said in a sing-song voice before leaving your room. You simply hummed in response, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. Today was going to be difficult, you already knew. Even though you were agreeing to spend your time with bidding paintings at the party, you still had your heart set on sneaking Loki in somehow. You were just stumped on how you would get that to happen.
~
After a morning of much needed breakfast, you got ready to face the day. Tony had asked both you and Natasha to go to the store to pick up a long list of supplies for the party. So there you stood, scanning the store’s large selection of alcohol bottles, not knowing which one Tony would want.
“What does he have on the list?” you ask, turning to Nat. She quickly scanned through the dramatically large catalog and shrugged.
“Just whatever looks good, I guess.” she replied before looking back to the shelves. Without another word, Natasha settled for three huge bottles of vodka. You don’t argue, seeing as you were just as clueless as to what Tony would want. “So tell me, what’s been going on with you?” she asks suddenly. You both proceeded to explore the store for whatever else the list requested.
“Oh, you know.” you paused. “The usual.” What ‘the usual’ was, you had no idea. Your life hasn’t exactly been normal since Thor had brought Loki into the Avengers Tower.
“Like what, painting pretty pictures and babysitting gods?” Nat laughed, plopping a case of Coca-Cola into the shopping cart. You were about to protest against her teasing when you realized that truly was what you have been doing for the past two days.
“Yeah, pretty much.” you admitted with a sigh. Natasha chuckled, before a moment of silence.
“How’s Loki?” she asked suddenly. The question made you tense up. It wasn’t that you hated talking about Loki, just something about him made your mind go blank.
“He’s fine. you replied plainly. You then noticed Nat raise an eyebrow at you as if she knew that you were hiding something. Which she did, of course. You opted to continue, not seeing a point in lying to your friend or yourself. “He’s not as awful as everyone claims him to be. I think he’s just misunderstood.” you persuaded. Natasha nodded, listening intently.
“What makes you think that?” she questioned. That’s when you realized Natasha only knew the Loki that had invaded New York city, much like everyone else. She only saw the villain of the story and not the god that you saw up on the hill. That’s when you began to pour your heart out.
“Yesterday when I took him outside, I saw a side of him that I don’t think anyone else has seen before. He told me stories about Asgard and it sounded like so much more than just some ancient legend. It seemed so normal. He seemed so normal.” you explained, almost passionately. “I don’t know, Nat. I think he’s actually really sweet.” you admitted. Natasha’s eyes went wide.
“Oh my god, Y/N, you like him!” she gasped. Your heart practically stopped at her accusation. There’s no way that you had feelings for the God of Mischief.
“Oh my- absolutely not!” you stammered. “I’m just simply being kind!” you insisted. You could feel your face burning, undoubtedly displaying your embarrassment.
“Y/N, you cannot like Loki, that’s insane!” Nat declared. You could practically feel the stares from the other people in the store, considering how loud the two of you were being.
“I just said I don’t!” you corrected her.
“But you most certainly are lying!” Natasha accused, halting the shopping cart.
“I’m not.”
“Say that to me with a straight face then.”
“Nat, PUSH. THE. CART.”
“HA! I knew it!”
You both continued to bicker and squabble for the rest of the shopping trip. It wasn’t until you and Natasha reached the checkout line that the childlike arguing returned back to its normal conversational tone.
“Oh god, what will Tony think?” Natasha said with a gasp. You groaned, covering your face with your hands. The longer you listened to her babble on about Loki, the more you realized she could be right. You admit, Loki was a fairly attractive person. Plus his gentlemanly charm didn’t help your case much. Oh, who were you kidding? Loki was downright gorgeous and you knew it. No matter how much you tried to convince yourself otherwise, you knew that you were slowly catching feelings for the god.
“Tony can’t know, he’d have a fit.” you spoke almost in a whisper, as if Tony was listening to your conversation.
“Oh, so you admit it? You do have a crush on Loki?” Natasha asked eagerly.
“N-no! Well, yes, but you can’t say a word about it!” you pleaded almost in disbelief at what you had just admitted. You had a crush on the almighty Loki and there was no denying it. Natasha simply giggled like a school girl.
“Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” she assured you. Except the way she continued to smile about it the whole car ride home showed that she was going to have a difficult time keeping your secret.
“Wipe that smirk off your face, Romanoff, nobody can know!” you suddenly said as she drove the two of you back to the Avengers Tower.
“I’m sorry, I just have to say it.” she started. You shook your head, knowing this conversation wouldn’t end anytime soon. “You should try to make a move tonight.” she suggested, giving you a smug smirk.
“Oh c’mon, you know he’s not allowed at the party.” you claimed. “But I have been thinking about ways to sneak him in tonight.” Natasha mocked a gasp.
“Y/N, how scandalous of you.” she poked fun at you, causing you to giggle. “I must say though, I think you can absolutely do better.” she suddenly stated, making your jaw drop slightly.
“What do you mean?” you asked, slightly put out.
“Loki is a mass murderer!” Natasha indicated. “Not to mention he’s tortured our friends and acts like a complete asshole.” she continued. You wave your hand at her in an attempt to silence her.
“Like I said, he’s changed.” you defended. Natasha didn’t respond, leaving you two in silence. After some time, you thought of your task to sell your paintings at the party. You decided that it could be best if you were to just leave Loki in his room. Plus, it’s not like everything Natasha had said wasn’t true. Perhaps it's for the best that you don’t get too close with the terrorist of New York.
~
Third Person POV:
Loki watched his brother pace the floor as he sat on the bed, pondering ways to sneak himself into the party. The longer they allowed time to pass by, the more hopeless Loki began to feel.
“We’re short on time brother, this won’t work.” Loki sighed. “I say we just go with my idea.” he suggested. Thor gave him a stern look and crossed his arms.
“Loki, we are not going to tie up one of the party members to disguise yourself as them.” Thor lectured his brother. Loki scoffed at Thor’s statement. After a bit more pacing, Thor snapped his fingers as a scheme formed in his mind.
“But perhaps disguises are not such a terrible idea after all!” Thor quipped with a large grin. Loki raised his eyebrow at Thor, signaling him to continue with his thought. “Think back to when we were children. That trick you always played on me when you would transform yourself into a snake just to stab me.” Thor explained with slight annoyance in his voice, remembering those times of his childhood.
“If you’re suggesting I slither into the event as a snake, I don’t think the midgardians would be too pleased with serpents being let loose in the building.” Loki glared at Thor, thinking it was a poor idea.
“Yes, but that’s only if you are caught.” Thor urged with a devious smile. He knew his younger brother was always up for a challenge and this task seemed perfect for him. Loki gave the thought a second chance before chuckling to himself.
“Excuse me, brother.” Loki sighed, standing up from the bed. “I have a party to attend.”
~
Stark’s party was full to the brim with people. You had already known ahead of time that the event would be completely packed, yet the amount of people still managed to astonish you. So there you were, greeting people as they walked in. You gave warm smiles and shook hands with the ones who offered it. After some friendly greetings, you were approached by Tony who had ushered you away from the entrance. You expected nothing less from him.
“Alright Y/N, this is your deadline. Where’s the paintings?” he asked, feigning impatience.
“Relax, Tony, I’ve got everything set up by the bar.” you advised him, gesturing towards your stand which displayed the art.
“Oh good, because I’ve already promised like four people that I had museum quality shit here.” he shared quickly, walking towards your platform. You roll your eyes and dramatically sigh at Tony.
“Of course you have.” you said, following him. “Well I suppose I should get to work then.” you said, observing the line of people in front of the small stage.
“Good thinking. Thanks again, Picasso.” Tony thanked you, giving you a quick pat on the shoulder before sauntering over to a large group of people. You took a step onto the platform and strolled over to the small microphone displayed on a stand for you. Everyone took note of your presence and gave their full attention to you. You looked out to the crowd before sighing. As much as you weren’t in the mood to converse with a large amount of people, you always had an open heart for Tony.
“Hello, everyone!” you greeted into the microphone. “My name is Y/N and I am the creator of these paintings presented before you today. Let’s just start with a little bit of browsing, shall we?” you suggested, hoping the crowd would see eye to eye with your proposal. Much to your relief, they did, nodding their heads with agreement. “Great! Bidding will start in ten minutes.” you announced before turning the microphone off. You sighed in relief, happy you had extra time for yourself. In all honesty, you just needed time to get a drink. You were convinced you could never survive a Stark party without some sort of alcohol to give you an extra confidence boost. As you made your way to the bar, you were halted by no other than your friend Thor. He was dressed quite dapper, yet casual enough to give him easy mobility.
“Ah, Y/N! So lovely to see you.” he greeted, with a beer bottle in his hand.
“Thor, it’s great to see you too.” you nodded at him with a cordial smile. “You look striking tonight.” you complimented.
“Oh, you’re too kind. You look very well put together yourself.” Thor chuckled, giving you a friendly wink. You were wearing a nicely fitted red dress that fell right above your knees with lace to give it alluring details. You also wore black heels to give you an extra two or so inches.
“Thank you very much.” you blushed, giving him a curt nod. You began to walk away to retrieve a drink from the bar, but it seemed Thor had different plans. He quickly stepped in front of you, halting you in your tracks.
“One more thing!” Thor announced. “I believe my drink requires a refill.” he explained waving his empty bottle almost nervously. You chuckle lightly, wondering why he was telling you this.
“Are you asking me to get you another beer, Odinson?” you snicker. Thor’s eyes widen as he begins to stammer for the right words.
“No, no! My apologies, I’m perfectly capable of getting my own drink. I’d just like for you to join me.” he specified, gesturing towards the bar, awkwardly smiling.
“Oh!” you exclaimed in delight. You felt having your friend to accompany you would help ease your mind. “I’d like that, thank you.” you said as you started to walk. Thor followed closely next to you with a beaming smile.
Everything was going perfectly.
Once you reached the bar you took a seat on one of the tall bar stools. You were scanning the menu when Thor set his empty bottle on the counter before taking a step away from the bar.
“Please excuse me, Lady Y/N. I believe Stark has called for me.” Thor stated quickly. Confused, you turned to look at the large mass of people Tony was talking to. You could’ve sworn Tony hadn’t even paid attention to anything but his guests. Before you could question anything, Thor had already quickly turned to walk the opposite direction. You sighed, turning back towards the bar when you realized there wasn’t even a bartender to tend to you.
“Well this was useless.” you muttered to yourself. As you were about to stand from your seat, Thor’s beer bottle began to shake. You froze, thinking your eyes were just playing tricks on you. Suddenly, a small snake began to crawl out of the bottle and onto the counter. You gasped, jumping from your seat in shock. Surely you were imagining things. The green scaly creature paused to curiously look up at you then turned to slowly slither down the opposite side of the bar. You approached the bar once more, peeking over the top of the counter to search for the snake. Then with a green glow, the snake quickly transformed into the one and only Loki Laufeyson. He simply sighed, brushing off his gorgeously tailored black suit and looked up at you.
“Good evening.” he greeted casually. Your mouth hung open, completely caught off guard at what you had just witnessed.
“Loki, you- how- you aren't supposed to be here!” you stumbled your words in confusion.
“Yes, but was it not you who said I shouldn’t be cooped up in my chambers all day?” Loki snorted playfully. You had no possible way to protest. Instead you resorted to looking around to make sure nobody was looking in your direction. This earned a barely audible groan from Loki. “I presume you wish for me to change back and slither my way back to my room then?” he questioned.
“No!” you declared maybe a little too quickly. “It’s okay, you can stay.” you said trying to remain calm. Loki smiled at how flustered you were, finding it almost amusing.
“Verywell.” he settled calmly. “Now, my lady, may I offer you a drink?” he suggested with a tone that gave you uncontrollable butterflies. You blushed at his offer with a nervous smile.
“I think a red wine will suffice, thank you.” you replied as naturally as you possibly could. Though of course it was a difficult task trying to keep calm. Loki just nodded and turned to prepare your glass. You couldn’t help but look over your shoulder to be sure nobody was watching you. You knew that Stark practically had eyes everywhere, not to mention anybody could easily take a glance at Loki and recognize him from New York. Because of this, you spoke the first thing that came to your mind.
“Loki, we have to get out of here.” you uttered straightforward. He paused pouring your glass of wine to give you a puzzled look. “Tony is bound to realize that you’re here. Plus the bartender could come back at any moment.” you told him, quickly standing to your feet. Loki just nodded before setting the wine bottle down with a slightly disappointed sigh.
“Lead the way then.” Loki said almost in a testing tone. Without another word, the same green glow from earlier masked over his body and changed him back into his serpent form. Loki snaked back into the beer bottle that he had once emerged from, hinting for you to carry him as Thor did. You grabbed the bottle from the counter and turned to walk from the bar. Where you were headed was beyond you. At this point, you were simply just trying to get away from the crowd of people. As you walked, you looked down at the empty beer bottle to be sure Loki sat comfortably in his glass container. He simply looked up at you and poked his tongue out at you in response. As a result of not watching where you were walking, you ended up walking right into a woman’s body, nearly knocking her over. You gasp, taking a step back from the mystery person.
“I am so sorry!” you exclaimed before quickly looking down into the beer bottle to affirm Loki was okay. Though what you were not expecting was a familiar voice to respond to your apologies.
“Well would you look at who it is.” the woman spoke with a chuckle. “You were always quite a clumsy girl.” she remarked. When you looked up to identify the woman, you couldn’t help the gasp that escaped your mouth.
“Alice Weaver!” you exclaimed. You didn’t know who to expect the woman to be, but it certainly wasn’t her. Alice was a girl you had met back in highschool. She had insisted on devoting her teenage years to making yours miserable. It had started when her boyfriend at the time had broken up with her and he attempted to use you as a rebound. Her jealousy for you has been undying ever since.
“It’s so nice to see you again, Y/N!” she grinned, her shrill voice dripping with sarcasm. “How have you been?” she asked.
“I’ve been fine, thanks.” you said, shifting from side to side. You made an attempt to walk past her, but of course she quickly stepped in front of you before you could make any distance.
“Oh good!” she quipped as she looked you up and down. She then caught sight of the beer bottle in your hand. “I never took you for a beer drinker, though.” you panicked a little, hoping she wouldn’t see the small snake hiding inside of it.
“It’s for a friend.” you quickly whipped up an answer. Alice scoffed.
“That’s what they all say, isn’t it?” she questioned, keeping her seemingly sweet smile on display. You gritted your teeth. In all honesty, you were still in shock that she was even here in the first place. “Anyways, I’m sure you’ll be thrilled to hear that I’m actually staying at the compound until tomorrow. I’m here to assist Stark on research.” she went on. You listened in disbelief.
“Research?” you asked plainly, your throat running dry.
“Yes of course, I’m studying engineering and physics.” Alice gushed.
“Wonderful.” you spat as friendly as you could possibly muster. You went to take a step and she walked in front of you yet again.
“Oh, Y/N, shouldn’t you be over there bidding those… pictures?” she said, pointing over towards your stand. “Here, I’ll hold this for you!” she said quickly snatching the beer bottle. You gasped trying your best to grab it back.
“Wait, no! Alice, I need that!” you yelped, struggling to grab the bottle back. You were suddenly pulled back from her, leaving you empty handed.
“Y/N, what the hell are you doing?!” Tony whisper-screamed to you, retracting you from Alice. “I have a group of very unhappy people waiting for you. Now stop bugging my student and do your job.” he exclaimed before softly shoving you towards the small stage. Now you were panicking. Tony Stark and your high school nemesis were in possession of Loki and you couldn’t do a single thing about it. So there you were, nervously walking up onto the stage and turning the microphone on.
“I am so sorry for the delay everyone, I ran into some issues.” you spoke to the crowd nervously. “I suppose I’ve kept you all waiting long enough, let’s get started.” you clapped your hands together, trying to seem as normal as possible. As you continued to speak out towards the crowd, you watched from afar as Tony and Alice continued to talk. You could tell by the way the two kept glancing over at you, they were certainly speaking of your behavior. You shakily sighed, going to grab a painting to exhibit it on the easel. Once you were back in front of the microphone you opened your mouth to speak but was abruptly interrupted when you felt something crawl down the back of your neck, causing you to squeak. This earned a suspicious reaction from the people in the crowd. You quickly recomposed yourself when you heard little snake hisses behind your ear. Loki. You were immensely relieved that he managed to sneak out of the bottle. He must have quickly slithered up your arm and up your back when Alice had grabbed the bottle from you. Although you were beyond grateful for his escape, feeling his cold scales on your bare skin made you shutter. You quickly cleared your throat.
“Excuse me, I just am not myself tonight.” you managed to squeak out. “A-anyways, do we have any takers for this piece?” you stuttered out. As you continued to make biddings for your painting, you could feel Loki leisurely slither down your neck and into the back of your dress. You slightly jumped at feeling Loki enter the back of your dress, making your heart race. “Sold!” you nearly barked out, hoping it would get Loki to cease his crawling. It didn’t. He continued down your dress until he rested over the back of your bra. You began to walk as casual as possible to your next art piece. As you bent down to pick it up you felt Loki crawl to the side of your dress towards the cup of your bra. After picking it up, you subtly brushed your bicep over your side, hoping to halt Loki’s movement. With your luck, this seemed to only spur him on. Loki then made haste to sneak into the cup of your bra, causing you to gasp.
“Can we hurry it up, please?” a very impatient man nagged from the audience. You groaned in response, not entirely sure if it was from the man’s remark or Loki.
“M-my apologies, sir.” you apologized, clearly annoyed yourself. “I guess I just have a chill I can’t seem to shake.” you admitted to the audience, but mostly directed towards the small snake currently resting in your bra. You felt him nestled comfortably against your skin, finally stopping to rest. “Next up is one of my personal favorites. Do we have any takers?” you spoke out to the crowd. You continued the bidding, trying the best you could to ignore the fact that Loki Laufeyson, the God of Mischief was presently relaxed in the cup of your bra as a snake. As you continued speaking, you felt him hiss from time to time causing his small forked tongue to brush the skin of your sternum. You swore it made your breath hitch everytime. This continued until every single piece was presented to its new owner. By the end of the night, you ended up with a large amount of cash though you didn’t seem to care much about that. While you granted the very last person your last painting, Stark approached with a drink in his hand. You whined to yourself upon seeing him. You were far too flustered to even deal with his snarky remarks.
“Congrats, Y/N! You got the job done.” Tony joked. You leered at him, walking off the stage.
“Tony, not now.” you said, trying to walk away.
“Oh don’t be such a sour puss, you got loads of cash.” he continued to provoke. “Hold on, I got one more thing for you.” You felt your body stiffen. You sigh, turning on your heels to face Tony.
“What?” you asked plainly. Tony flashed you a smile as he handed you the drink he had come to you with. Whiskey on ice.
“For you, it’s on the house. Just a ‘thank you’ for tonight.” he said, sounding truly genuine. You couldn’t possibly stay mad at him, even if it was Tony Stark. You took the glass from him and returned the smile.
“You’re welcome.” you smiled. Just as you were about to take a sip of your much deserved reward, you felt Loki abruptly start to move again. He began to creep his way out the side of the cup of your bra, passing into the opposite one. This resulted in a yelp that had been caught in your throat all night, startling Tony.
“Y/N, are you-”
“Loki!”
“What?”
“I have to check on Loki!” you quickly shouted setting the drink down. “H-he’s been in his room all night!” you swiftly made an excuse. Thankfully, your excuse was adequate enough for you to get out of there. You swiftly speed walked to the nearest bathroom avoiding any more interruptions. The quicker you moved, the more agitated you could feel Loki getting. As you made your way to the bathroom you could feel him continue to slither around your bra. Once you finally reached the bathroom you slammed the door shut and pulled the hem of your dress away from your chest.
“OUT!” you screamed. Loki listened, crawling out of your bra and down your leg. Once he reached the floor, his magic glow covered him once more, turning him back into his godly self.
“Well…” he panted, clearly shaken up from how speedy you walked. “Could you have moved any faster?” he nearly growled. You could feel your anger rise and your patience snap.
“How is any of this my fault?!” you shouted at him. “What in the hell were you doing, going into my bra like that?” you asked. Loki rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“Oh my apologies, in case you didn’t notice, I had nowhere else to go!” he snapped back. You loudly groaned as you covered your face with your hands.
“Tonight was a disaster, all thanks to you!” you argued, pointing a finger at him.
“Me?!” he barked, causing his voice to echo throughout the bathroom. You jumped at his sudden loudness. “I put all my efforts in sneaking into this awful party just so I could simply serve you a drink to thank you for your generosity from yesterday.” he spoke loudly, slowly approaching you. His words shocked you. You hadn’t realized that Loki only wanted to attend the event just so he could show you some kindness. Your face fell, almost feeling sorry.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize.” you said in a softer tone. Loki remained irritated, taking another big step towards you so there was almost no more space between the two of you. Your breath became ragged.
“Perhaps next time, at least make an attempt to stay calm and keep yourself from squirming.” he requested bitterly.
“You want to speak about squirming?!” your voice raised again. “How about next time, you don’t go into my bra!”
“Oh, don’t be so dramatic.” Loki rolled his eyes. “Your breath betrays you, Midgardian. If I didn’t know any better, the hitch in your throat would tell me that you rather enjoyed it.” he mocked. You could feel your face burn a bright red, embarrassment flooding your emotions.
“Y-you disgust me!” you spat out. Loki snickered almost as if he was purposely trying to provoke you.
“There it is again.” he pointed out. “You get flustered so easily, it’s almost pitiful.” You remained silent, stunned by his remark. He continued to stare at you, his face dangerously close to yours.
“I hate you.” you whispered. What happened next was completely out of your control. Instead of getting anger out of Loki, your statement sparked something uncontrollable. He swiftly grabbed your hips and crashed his lips upon yours, sealing you both in a passionate kiss. Before your mind had time to register what was happening, he pulled away, removing his hands from you completely. He examined your face, searching for any sort of restraint. Realizing what he had just done, he became worrisome.
“My most sincere apologies, I-” you quickly cut him off, pulling him back into yet another searing kiss. Your heart was pounding out of your chest as the kiss grew hungrier. His hands traveled up to your face to pull you in closer, making your breath quicken. Your mind was racing with all sorts of emotions, but you knew one thing was for sure: you didn’t want this moment to ever end. But it did. You both quickly pulled away from each other when the door to the bathroom swung open. Your head snapped to look at whoever entered the bathroom and your heart sank when you realized who it was. Alice Weaver stood at the door, looking both you and Loki up and down. She laughed in disbelief at what she saw in front of her.
“Am I interrupting something?”

I have three questions about writing fanfiction and you’re the best fanfic writer I’ve seen so I’m going to ask them to you if that‘s alright
1. How do you write a lot in chapters, because I never manage to write more than 1k words about the chapter topic
2. How do you stay motivated for writing a long fic?
3. Do you have any tips about how to deal with a large ensemble of characters?
First of all, I'd like to say how happy and honoured I am for this ask! It made me so happy you thought of me. I'll do my best to answer helpfully.
My response ended up being pretty long, to I'll leave it under the cut.
1.
In general, my chapters are between 3k to 6k. I find 4k-5k is a good range for me. Before I talk about writing more in chapters, I think it is important to say that short chapters are not wrong. Short chapters can be wonderful to read!
If you want to work on writing more, I have a few suggestions. First though, the way my writing style works is I go into a story generally knowing the basic plot points, and I write all the chapters first, before I post them. So keep this in mind, since my techniques might need to be adapted for your style.
When starting a chapter, I have what I call the 'bone and meat' method. To write around 5k words, I find each chapter has enough room to explore 3-5 "events". These are the bones of a chapter.
As an example. I will use chapter five of "Alternatively", because I'm guessing you read that one. (If not you can send another ask with some you've read and I can use those).
The bones of this chapter are:
Prelude/set up to Steve learning about Bucky.
Pierce taking Steve to see Bucky
Steve having a breakdown in the elevator
Steve and Tony talking about it
These are the four main things that needed to happen in this chapter. I don't always start a chapter knowing what will happen at the end, but usually by 500 words in, I've figured out what out of my plot points will be happening in the next 5k of words.
When deciding what will be the bones of a chapter, I find I have two systems. Either I give the reader a satisfying cathartic ending, or I leave them in anticipation.
Chapter five is a good example of a mini-arc within a chapter that ends with a satisfying emotional catharsis. If you think of it along a story plotting graph, the prelude is the exposition, Pierce taking Steve to Bucky is the conflict/rising action, Steve's breakdown is the emotional climax of the chapter, and Tony and Steve's conversation is the falling action/resolution.
The ending event of the chapter feels natural, because while the story isn't finished, the emotions and events of the chapter have been tied together and dealt with for the time being.
An anticipatory ending for a chapter would be more like a cliffhanger, and would probably end near the climax of whatever plot points are happening. (Such as chapter 3 of Alternatively, the emotional climax of the chapter hits right at the end.)
So basically, your overall story has rising action and a climax, but if each chapter is roughly outfitted around that too, then it may be easier to write long chapters.
Once you have the bones of a chapter, all you need to do is add in the meat to fill out whatever word count you are aiming for. If you have written the bones of a chapter, but still aren't at a word count you like, then it is simply a case of adding more depth to what is already happening—showing the emotions of the characters, getting into their head, bringing up past events and relating them to what is currently happening, foreshadowing, describing the scene/senses, etc.
Please know that when I'm writing my chapters, I'm not obsessively planning out the steps of a chapter and thinking of all these things constantly. These are just patterns I've noticed after the fact, so they are not hard and fast rules.
2.
As for how I stay motivated for long stories, the thing that works best for me is writing all the chapters before I post the story. I know this system doesn't work for every author (and believe me, sometimes I really want to post), but I find doing so relieves pressure on me, and I don't feel guilty if I don't write a story for weeks or months because I am working on something else.
That being said, for my large Alternate Timeline series, I didn't have time to write all the chapters ahead of time. By the time I was writing The Alternate Handler, I had about a 10 chapter lead.
Things that helped me stay motivated is finding parts of the story that I really wanted to write. I usually write chronologically, so having moments that I knew where coming and I was excited for helped motivate me to continue.
Also, recognising that I sometimes made things harder for myself. Sometimes I'd be stuck on how to finish a scene, or expressing something, and my writing would slow, until I would realise that sometimes things don't need to be written in exact detail. If you don't know how to get a character to walk out of a room, sometimes you can just end the scene there. Unless something is plot relevant, you can write around it, if it is an issue.
Sometimes, if I'm stuck on a story or a chapter, it helps to take a step back and figure out what the actual blockage is. Often it won't be what I think it is. Sometimes it isn't because I don't know how to write it, or I don't know what to write—sometimes I can't write a scene because I haven't seen the movie in a while, and all I need to do is find the battle on youtube and rewatch it. Sometimes it is because I don't know how an engine works, and I need to either look up the information, or make a note of it and move on to another scene.
And sometimes you just gotta clunk out a scene word after word, because once you do, it will be done, and you can always make it better later. You can't edit what isn't written.
3.
Writing Marvel gives me plenty of opportunity to deal with large casts. Generally what happens is I end up focusing on the relationship between a few main characters, while the other characters have less focus.
In my Alternative Timeline series, the relationships between Steve, Bucky, and Tony are the focus.
Of course, this doesn't mean I want to forget about the other members. You'll notice especially in Bucky and Tony's stories that they have secondary relationships with other people like Natasha, Bruce, Clint, Pepper, Peter, and Nebula. These secondary characters get scenes with the main characters too, kind of on a rotational basis.
So first tip is to trim down how many characters you are focusing on, and how many characters are interacting with each other in each scene.
In fics I will often have Thor be away on Asgard, or Clint and Natasha doing missions, etc, so they don't get underfoot.
That being said, there are times like during group meetings, when you can't avoid having everyone in the same room.
In those times, it is important not to forget who is in the room. I will literally count on my fingers, or write down lists of who is supposed to be at the table, so I can remember.
A good example of this on a small scale is Steve's birthday party in chapter 14 of The Alternate Handler. That one has almost every Avenger but Thor sitting in a circle, playing a game. I had specific moments in mind, so I needed to remember who was sitting by who. I wrote down the names in order so I wouldn't forget, and could properly situate people in my head.
An example on a bigger scale is chapter 26 of The Alternate End. In this chapter, the Avengers have a meeting with practically every other character who was there at the final battle.
Yet again, I pare down the cast a little. T'Challa and Shuri aren't there because they are in Wakanda.
To help keep control of the larger group, I start with a vague idea of where everyone is sitting, and then don't go into deeper detail than I have to.
In the scene, we know the Guardians, Peter, and Thor and Loki are all sitting kind of near each other, but I don't specify who is sitting next to who unless I need to.
I also have Tony looking around the table for a few hundred words, seeing each group, and slowly but surely introducing them to the reader. Tony hasn't seen the whole group for a while, so he has a reason to catch the reader up to speed on what has been happening. While he thinks about the life developments of the people around him, the reader starts to get an idea of who is in the room, and their general mood.
A final tip I often use is staggered entrances. If you have a large group, and something Plot Worthy needs to happen when Character A and B talk, then don't have the meeting ready to start right away.
Have some people already sitting, so that your POV character can process them, then have some more people come in, and then some more. (I do this in chapter 19 of The Alternate End, before the time travel jump.)
With a big group, you need time to show what needs to be shown, so give yourself the space to breathe and give the characters the right amount of attention.
I hope these tips and notes were helpful. Feel free to come back with more questions, or details about your own writing style if what I said doesn't work nicely for you!
And remember, these are just tips, not the golden rule.
Have a great day!

5 Times Bucky Helped out Peter + 1 Time Peter Returned the Favor
Summary: Peter may or may not be one of the best procrastinators there is. Which leads to some tricky situations when he has patrol late in the night and school in the morning. Luckily, Bucky is there to help him out.
Words: 1790
Alright, so maybe procrastinating on his homework by going on patrol wasn’t the best idea when he had a 3 page paper on WWII due the next day. But, in his defense, he had already created a plan for it. The thing could practically write itself at this point, and if only it could. The real problem was that he left it on his desk, and he didn’t remember half of it.
So here he was, sitting at his desk in the dark, with a single lamp on, a large mug of coffee to his right, and a computer with a blank google doc pulled up, the blinking cursor reminding him of every second gone to waste of him not getting any work done. His eyes were dry from staring at the screen for a good half an hour, and he was about ready to give up and just accept the terrible grade.
Suddenly, a noise from the hallway pulls his attention away from the computer. Footsteps slowly approach his room, though his spidey sense doesn't alert him of any danger. A mental arm slides through the cracked doorway and slowly the rest of the door opens to reveal Bucky, blinking from the sudden exposure to light. Peter quickly turns the brightness on his computer down before turning back to the man who had already taken a seat on the bed. “What are you doing up so late?” he asks gruffly, though Peter can sense the well-meaning-ness behind the question.
“Forgot I had a paper due tomorrow. It’s kinda important, can’t miss it.” he answers.
“You know you’re supposed to do that kind of stuff over time, properly. That way it turns out nice. What’s the paper over?”
“World War Two heroes.”
He lets out a soft snort, “well that should be pretty easy. You have two of us living with you.”
“Yeah, but all of my research is currently sitting in my desk at school and this is due tomorrow! It’s going to take at least a few hours to write this.”
“Peter, you can’t be doing this. A growing boy like you needs his rest. Especially you, being a growing spiderling and all.”
“I know. I’m sorry if I woke you up, I’m just trying to get this done as quietly as possible. I already made a cup of coffee to keep me up so I should be fine, and I promise I’ll go to bed when I’m done if you want to go back to sleep.”
“No. I’ll help you. Research will take too long, I’ll provide information and fuel. Stay here.”
Bucky stands up, ruffling Peter’s hair before exiting the room. Peter awkwardly sits there, his chair angled towards the doorway, as he waits for Bucky to return. He’s just barely fighting against sleep when he hears Bucky’s footsteps approaching the room. Ha makes an attempt to sit up more, but decides to just prop his head up with one hand.
Bucky pov
Bucky gives the kid a smile when he sees him. He was super adorable, and was definitely worth protecting. He’d pulled plenty of all-nighters before, mostly just from nightmares and his body refusing to sleep. His mind always returns back to his time in the army and with HYDRA. He’d only told Steve about these nightmares, and typically they’d get through it together. Especially since Steve had trouble sleeping as well after being frozen in the ice for so long. However, Steve hadn’t been up when Bucky’s body refused sleep, and he’d seen the light in the baby spider’s room. One thing led to another and here he was, handing him a large pitcher of ice water, a cup, and a plate containing four ham and turkey sandwiches cut into triangle halves.
“Here’s the deal. You’re going to work and I’ll answer any questions that you have. If you finish at a reasonable time, I’ll make you a huge breakfast in the morning as a celebration. What hero did you choose? Steve… Peggy…?”
“Oh, actually Mr. Winter Soldier White Wolf Bucky Barnes, sir. I chose to write about you.”
“Me…” Bucky’s baffled. He hadn’t viewed himself as a hero in the slightest. Especially with all of the Winter Soldier… stuff. Even during the war he was more of a sidekick than anything. One of “Captain America’s” many accomplices. The kid was sweet though. “I… okay. I guess helping you with this thing is going to be easier than I thought. Umm… What kind of information do you need, kid?”
“One paragraph has to be general information about your life before the war, like where were you born, where did you go to school, what was your childhood like, etc. The second one has to be what was your contribution to the war, what you were mots known for, etc. And then the third one is about your affect on others and our everyday life, which is more based on me than research I need for you. All and all, pretty easy. Especially with your help, Mr. Bucky Barnes, sir. My research hadn't resulted in a lot of stuff because it's a "controversial topic at school," the kid actually used air quotes. He's so precious. "But, I did you anyway because you're really cool and more people need to realize it. Sorry if I ranted a bit there."
“It’s fine kid. Like you said, this shouldn’t be too hard. Also, you can just call me Bucky.”
“Alright Mr. Bucky. Let’s get started? I can just write down the information I need and then you can go to sleep-”
“Nope, we’re in this together. I’m staying up as long as you are so better get started.”
“Oh… alright then. I’m going to write a quick thesis and then maybe ask you a few questions based on the different paragraphs, if that’s all right?”
“Perfectly fine, kid.”
Peter writes out a quick thesis he’d been mulling over as he’d stared at the blank screen for so long. He thought it actually wasn’t half bad. Then, he begins filling in information on Mr. Barnes’ (he was still planning on calling him that in his head) childhood, adding in a few fillers here and there to make the essay fit the guidelines. Every once and a while he’ll take a long gulp of water or take a bite of one of the sandwiches. They were really good.
By the time the kid has gotten to his conclusion paragraph, he’s nearly fallen asleep multiple times, and the plate of food has long gone, though Bucky had continued to keep the pitcher full for the kid, despite his reassurance that he didn’t need it. Like heck he did. Finally, kid types the last sentence and turns it in, slumping over his desk on top of the recently closed laptop. Bucky chuckles, and grabs the dishes from the desk, assuming the kid would move to the bed by himself. Once he’s returned to make sure he’s asleep, the kid’s passed out, still over the desk. Bucky picks the kid up and moves him to the bed, Peter only letting out a small sigh in his sleep as protest. He pulls the covers over him before closing the doors behind him, moving back to his own room after finally feeling tired.
Steve’s sitting at the edge of his bed when he returns, looking slightly worried. He grins when he sees his husband return, scooting over to allow him to sit down. “Sorry I wasn’t up, you know you could’ve woke me up, right?”
“I know. But I didn’t want to disturb you. After all, you looked so peaceful,” he teases. “And anyway, the kid was still up doing an assignment.”
“He get it finished?”
“Yeah, helped him a bit. Gonna have to make him breakfast in the morning as a reward.”
“Well aren’t you the parent.”
“Shut it punk. I want to sleep.”
“Alright.” They both return to the bed and end up passing out almost instantly.
Bucky wakes up first the next morning, surprised to get some of the best sleep he’s gotten in a while. As promised, Bucky makes a large meal, fit for the endless void of food that was caused from the family of spies, gods, super soldiers, and other assorted bottomless pits. For the rest of them he whips up some pancakes, bacon, and eggs. However, for Peter he makes a couple of chocolate-drizzled croissants (a favorite of the spiderling) a chocolate flavored smoothie (with a bit of coffee mixed in for energy), and a small bowl of assorted fruits.
Soon after the foot is done the team begins to trickle in at their own pace. Pepper and Natasha are up first, having breakfast together with a cup of coffee before moving off to their assorted morning duties. Sam, Clint, and the twins appear shortly after, fighting over the biggest pancakes like children. In the middle of it Steve appears, giving his husband a kiss on the cheek before sitting in between the two squabbling children. Sam and Clint give one last glare to each other before settling with the food on their plates. Tony and Bruce were at a science convention meeting, so they were currently at a hotel in Washington. Strange had taken a visit to Kamar-Taj, so he too was absent from their breakfast.  And Thor, Loki, and Carol were all off-world.
Finally, the spiderling made an appearance, solidifying his child-like being by rubbing his eyes with his fist, blinking into the chaos of the morning. FRIDAY automatically dimmed the lights as he walked in, alerting everyone of his presence. Various greetings were exchanged as he sat down at their abnormally large table for his breakfast. He looks at Bucky curiously, to confirm that his breakfast would be a satisfying reward, his eyes growing bigger than they had thought humanly possible when the tray of food was set before him. “Wow, thank you Mr. Bucky. You really didn’t have to do this!”
“Hey! How come the kid gets a special breakfast?” Clint complains.
“Because the kid actually works hard for things in life, and this is a reward for him. Now eat up Peter, Happy will be here to pick you up in about 20 minutes.”
Peter nods his thanks before digging into the meal. It tastes even better than he could have imagined and by the time Happy comes to pick him up, he’s eaten it all and feels fresh and prepared for the coming school day.
When he returns from school he happily tells everyone in the tower of how his teacher really enjoyed his WWII essay and had him read it aloud, which earns himself a proud smile from Bucky.

Peter Parker’s field trip. Part 1
Warnings: Trans!Peter, Spidypool, sex references, superfamily, transphobia, supportive avengers
Tony POV
I was in my lab waiting for Peter, my newly adopted son, to come home from school when Friday told me I had an email from Peters school. Turning to my phone I opened the email and was completely annoyed. The email read
'Dear Parent/Carer of Patricia Parker,
We are delighted to inform you that we have a surprise field trip for the student to none other than Stark Laboratories. The trip with be a residential starting on March 7th with a trip to Stark Tower, staying the night there with Mr Tony Stark-Rodgers and then having a trip to the Avengers Tower where we will have the opportunity to meet the Avengers and ask them questions. This is a once in a life time opportunity and we hope you allow your daughter to attend. Also, we would like to keep the trip as a surprise for the student so we urge you not to tell them the destinations of the trip.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Robbins.'
I was livid. My child Peter is a boy. I do not have a daughter I have a son. I couldn't believe the nerve of this teacher so I stormed out of my lab and in to the main living area of the penthouse and saw my handsome husband lay on the couch watching tv. He looked so calm and collected but I feel this might change.
"Honey, I just got this email from Peters school that I think you should have a look at." I told him handing him my phone.
He looked confused at first but then the anger set in and by time my phone was placed back in my hand he had an evil smirk on his face. I had an idea of why he had that smirk but just to be sure I asked him,
"What's the smirk for?" I asked.
"Tell the teacher our son can go on the trip while I make a few phone calls. Nobody purposely misgenders my son and gets away with it." He is trusted before grabbing his cell phone and walking down the corridor to one of the training room. Probably going to blow off a little steam and anger. Might watch in a little while.
After a second I simply responded to the email stating'
I as Peters legal guardian allow my son to attend this field trip. Is there any additional information that we should be aware of?' It seemed like the appropriate response.
In all honesty I had Pepper invite the school to the towers as a reward for how well they did at the decathlon competition. I was not expecting to receive an email like this.
-5 hours later-
Peter arrived home shortly after the email incident and was greeted to everyone being in the room. Everyone being Me, Cap, Bucky, Nat, Banner, Pepper, Sam, T'Challa, Shuri, Rhodey, Wanda, Vision, Thor, Loki, Clint and Strange along with the Guardians on a Skype call on the tv. We told him it was a spur of the moment gathering as well all missed each other, not an entire lie, but in reality we were plotting to a) embarrass Peter as much as possible on the field trip and b) get back at the teacher for what they did.
We decided to order enough pizza for an entire 3rd world country and discuss Peter's school life as we ate.
"So Peter, has anyone been giving you trouble lately in School? You can tell us the truth." Steve, Peter's other father and my husband, asked.
"No everything just fine." He terribly lied.
"Come on kid. I've known you for almost two years now, don't try and lie. If there's anyone giving you any type of shit for whatever reason please know that you can tell us." I explained to him all of a sudden getting very serious. I could see him fighting with himself on weather to tell us something or not but decided not to as he then said he had homework to do and went to his room.
"So, he's either lying or the teacher isn't as bad as we think." Loki observed.
"No, he was lying. I could feel his conflict and pain in remembrance of what people have said to him. I'm not one for violence but someone needs to pay for what he's been dealing with." Wanda told us with tears in her eyes.
Cap and Barton walked over to comfort her and hopefully stop her crying. My blood started boiling, Wanda was a strong person and if what Peter's going through brings her to tears then that's a lot for one person to go through. What else has this teacher or student done? Why won't he tell us? Does he not trust us? That last question broke my heart.
"Baby, you okay?" I hear Steve ask moving towards me and holding both my hands in his.
"No. I'm pissed. I'm pissed at any one who hurt my son. I'm pissed at us for not making sure he knows he can talk to us. And I'm pissed at the world for making his go through all of this." I told him with tears coming to my eyes.
Steve pulled me close to my chest and held me tight. He stroked his hands through my hair as he tried to calm me down. I could tell he was mad to, we all were, but he was trying to hold it in despite everyone being here to essentially punish this teacher was his idea. Embarrassing Peter was mine.
"Right, so what do we do about this? I'm not letting anyone hurt my nephew and get away with it." Nat said sitting up and pulling a knife from who knows where to sharped her nails. That women scares me so much.
"How about we just drop in during the day and make sure one of us is always with him. If he has one of us always there and we make it apparent that we know and support him the I doubt even someone as bigoted as his teacher is going to say something. Then we can embarrass him when we're with him." Sam suggested.
"I like that. Where are we all going to be stationed?" Loki asked.
"Well if I speak to the tour guide I could get Banner to give them a lesson on Gamma radiation as the first. Then, Barton or somebody drops in. After that they will be taken to a different lab with Shuri and T'Challa. By that time it should be lunch where Thor and Loki could drop in and the guardians land near the level 7 outside cafeteria. Then we can have Sam drop some stuff from above like a water balloon or something and Bucky bake his favourite cookies to bring to him. After Lunch they're looking around some other labs where Shuri could also be along with Banner. I think they're also going to be visiting the training rooms so Nat, Cap, Bucky and T'Challa could be fighting and Wanda, Vision and Strange could be training their magic." I suggested feeling better now that we were planning this.
March 6th
-Peter's POV-
I was in Chemistry faintly heading the teacher, Mrs Robbins, drone on and on about ionic bonding and how it differs to covalent bonding. It was something I already knew so I didn't need to listen until Ned started hitting my arm. Turning to look at him he simply nodded to the direction of the teacher. I turned around just to catch two words that made my heart drop.
"-Field trip!" Our teacher cheered with a big smile on her face.
Field trip? To where and why?
"That's right, we have organised a surprise field trip for you all as a reward for how well you've all done on your recent exams. Only the top 20 student of the entire school will have the privilege of going. The destination will be a surprise but I will say to bring an overnight bag and money for food and such. You're parents have already got an email consenting for your attendance and the bus will be leaving at 8am tomorrow so don't be late." She further explained.
The whole surprise field trip thing made me nervous beyond all belief. I may not technically be a Parker anymore but the luck definitely followed me and the idea of having to go on an overnight field trip made me terrified. Also, our parents got an email. This means that either Dad (Tony) or Pops (Steve) knew about this probably weeks ago and didn't tell me, this only fulled my anxiety.
Soon the bell went signalling the end of the day and our temporary liberation from this educational prison. On the way out Mrs Robins pulled me aside. It confused me at first until she put our most recent test infront of me. My name circled in big red circles, I know what's about to happen.
"Patricia, you must stop this. You're name is not Peter, you're not a boy. You were born a girl and therefore are, there is no picking and choosing with what God gave you. You must understand this by now. This little joke has gone too far that you're name has been requested to change on our register. Get it through you're head that you are not a boy and you will go to hell for thinking otherwise. One more incident like this and you'll have detention for the rest of the year. Got it?" She basically shouted at me pointing to my circled name on the test.
"No. My name is Peter and I am a boy, I don't care what God assigned me because he got it wrong. I am a boy and my name is Peter as we have gotten it legally changed." I rebutted getting impatient with her ignorance.
"Don't speak to me like that young man. You have no right to change Gods idea and destiny for you. Just thing, you're a girl meaning you can have kids and spread God's message to others and have many kids. Just what God planned for all women." She told me trying to sound sweet but came off and incredibly patronising.
At this point I was too angry to listen to her bulls**t (Gotta keep it Steve friendly people) so I stormed out the room. She started yelling for me to come back to the classroom but I didn't listen and continued walking till I reached the car Happy was in to take me home.
I got in the car and started telling Happy about my day while playing classic songs on my phone such as Highway to Hell, You gave love a bad name and Living on a Prayer. He pretended like he didn't care but I could tell he was listening and hanging onto every word I was saying. I love that about Happy, he acts like he doesn't care but in reality he does and he does a lot. He once caught Flash saying stuff about me and threatened to hit him with the car, he almost did as well but we were running late to a meeting I had to go to with Dad. Of course that didn't stop Flash as he still likes to torment me daily but he now does it more secretly making it more bearable.
We soon made it home and I found all of my dysfunctional family, minus the guardians who were on a Skype call, sat in the living room watching a movie on the tv. I quickly set my bag down on the kitchen island and settled right next to Tony (Dad) who was cuddling Cap (Pops). Everyone was asking me questions about my day and school life in general. They focused mostly on if people were bullying on me. It worried me a little because as much as I know I can go to them, I don't want to because I know that if I tell them everything that's happened they'll kill people and I don't want that for my family. Half of them only just got pardoned and I don't want the governments to revoke that.
"Sorry guys but I got homework. The pizza was delicious, is it okay if I invite Wade around?" I pleaded with Pops knowing he's more likely to say yes.
"Yes but that door stays open hound man. Do I make myself clear?" Pops asked in a stern voice.
"Crystal." I responded before taking out my phone to call Wade, grabbed my bag and walked to my room.
"Hey Baby Boy, what's up?" Wade asked after picking up his phone.
"Not much, Pops said you could come around." I told him making him slightly squeal.
"Okay Baby Boy, I'll be there in 10 minutes. I love you." Wade informed.
"I love you to Babe." I said before hanging up with a smile on my face.
-10 minutes later-
I was sat at my desk finishing my algebra homework when I heard someone knock on the window. Knowing it was Wade I turned with a smile on my face and let him in.
"Hey Baby Boy, how was your day?" Wade asked making himself comfortable on my bed.
"It was fine, quite boring if I'm honest. We did get told about this residential field trip tomorrow though. Sorry I won't be here for most of the weekend. I'm sure my Dads will love having you around." I joked sitting on his lap and cuddling into his chest.
"It's fine Pete. I'll just have to savour our time together now." He said wiggling his eyebrows and kissing me passionately.
"My Pops said to keep the door open." I told him pulling away with a massive blush spread across my cheeks.
"Does that rule apply to your en-suite?" Wade asked.
"I don't believe so." I answered getting up from his lap and dragging him into my en-suite, which is where we stayed for the rest of the night.
To be continued...
