hey!! So, about Bombshell, his pronouns are he/they, sorry for not clarifying!! :p their personality is like Hobie Brown from ATS, basically just an anarchist who goes against higher ups. They are very loyal, as their family gave him up as a kid, landing in the hands of moths who worshipped a moon god. Not traditional with the type of moth he is (brown moth). And so, he has been somewhat judged for this, that and how he has no wings that can fly, but he is loyal to his family for taking him in and loyal to the Shadow Wizard Money Gang (yes, that’s the organization name) who took him in as well. He can be intimidating, most of the time, again due to his height, but also in that he doesn’t talk much. (Opposite of me. When he does, he can sound intimidating, despite his voice, as he makes threats and such to the enemy. But if he likes you, he will always give you hugs or head pats. :)

Awh man, I love Bombshell, he's so very cool! Where did they get their nickname Bombshell from, though? Because while it may sound really cool, it's also so very different from his real name :o Would he ever want to fly? It's fascinating that he can't, but I wonder if he ever dreamt about doing so before! Also Hobie Brown is such a cool character, I loved that guy in ATSV! So I can already tell that Bombshell is a lovely moth lit! Now that I have some grasp of what they are like, I do agree that them and Arya would get along! Arya is a little bastard and instigator, though, so you can expect her to go along with something stupid and chaotic, or even suggest such a thing! Your session sounds like it must have been a lot of fun, especially if you made up an organization called Shadow Wizard Money Gang! Also!! Hugs and headpats :D Who doesn't love that sort of thing!! That makes me like him so much more too!!! He's great and I love him!! Have you ever drawn him or have you ever had someone else draw him? :>

sometimes I get weirdly in my own head about 'is the way I draw nyssa Good Representation For Fat Women' and then I remember she's my fucking OC and Good Representation is not actually my job

Welcome to the Group OC Tournament

Submissions are Closed!

What is this?

This is a tournament for groups of OC's. If you, or you and some friends have some OC's who interact, whether it be via multiverse shenanigans, ttrpg parties, or elaborate shared universes, I wanna hear about them.

This will be a low stakes, fun vibes tournament, don't be an asshole to anyone else. In fact, I would encourage OC groups going against each other to talk to each other and maybe make a collaborative piece (writing, music, art, whatever) together. These pieces will be collected and after the main poll, we'll run a secondary one about the best collaborative piece.

Don't feel pressured to do this, however, it's an opt in bonus.

We are now accepting Duo's

The rule stating groups had to have three or more members has now been pulled back to two or more, however, it should be noted that this is more about fun group dynamics, story and concept, not so much romance or oc shipping, so try to keep that in mind when submitting. After this tournament finishes, I might run one on this blog for oc shipping, so maybe save your ship's for that.

How many nominees are you accepting?

I don't know. There might be a lot of people who're interested, there might be very few. It will depend on the response to the tournament.

Submission's will stay open until I decide to close them, I will give a two day warning before closing them.

Can me and my friends submit a team or group together/can I submit a group by myself?

Yes and yes. I encourage multiple people submitting a team, but individuals submitting a team are absolutely allowed.

Can I submit a- ?

You are welcome to submit:

-Fandom OC's (Including Fantrolls/fankids, pony oc's, minecraft oc's)

-Dnd parties, characters from ttrpg groups

-RP characters

-OC's from planned stories/webcomics/ect

-OC's from existing stories/webcomics/ect (provided you, or you and your co-submitters own the OC's in question)

-OC's from mmorpg's (such as Guild Wars, Final Fantasy, WoW)

-OC groups of two or more people. (Probably if you're getting to around 15, that's maybe too many, and either focus on a smaller part of the group, or work out a different group to submit)

-Other OC's that fit the tournament theme. If you're not sure if your OC group is appropriate, message me and we can work it out.

Your should not submit:

-Harry Potter OC's. I will ignore submissions of OC's from Harry Potter. If your group previously had a fan character/s from Harry Potter, but that fact has been changed or made irrelevant, or if you have adapted the Harry Potter setting to something distinct, that's allowed.

-OC's groups of only one person.

-On behalf of other groups. If you and your friends/team/group do not own the OC's you're submitting, you shouldn't be submitting them.

-Singular OC's that two or more people share custody of. That's very fun, but not what this tournament is about.

-If you're unsure if your OC breaks a rule, feel free to message me and we can work it out.

Can I submit more then one group?

Yes. But-

Each group should be unique OC's. Or, in other words, no single OC should appear on more then one submission.

And-

No one person should submit more then three submissions.

If there's a problem with any of your submissions, i will contact you and we can work it out.

I am submitting, but to avoid bias, I will not state the group/s I am submitting.

Where do I submit?

Can I send in propaganda?

Yes, and in fact, I encourage it. Anyone in a group can send in propaganda.

Propaganda can be writing, art, music, playlists, ect.

Propaganda will be tagged with the teams name.

If your propaganda is a pencil drawing, please make sure the lineart is dark enough to clearly make out for a better chance of people observing your propaganda.

To start off, I’m such a big fan of your writing! I genuinely look forward to every single update of yours and find myself rereading a lot of work in the downtime. You are such a good writer!! My never ending praises aside, here are some asks!

-You incorporate OC’s into your fics so seamlessly! They feel so natural in your fics that I legit get excited anytime they show up (srsly can’t wait for Lou Jitsu vs Hidden City, Sal’s my boy) lol how do you find the right balance when introducing and maintaining OC’s in your fics? I feel like that’s a particularly difficult balance beam to tread but you absolutely crush it.

-A previous ask you answered about Cass and Raph in LSoW got me thinking; how do the brothers handle humans crushing on them? Would they be receptive or dismissive? Do they develop crushes on humans- and if so, how is that perceived (by family or the general public)? The drama 👀

Last ask, I promise:

-I absolutely loved your crossover with Empathy is Learned! Got anymore crossovers planned in the future? Oooor if you could do a crossover with any other fic, which one(s) would it/they be??

Omg thanks so much... I'm so happy people enjoy my writing it's crazy to me. I've written before, but it's always been just for myself so I never really know if it was good or not. (Years of text based DnD is to thank lol.) (Okay I got carried away answering this so sorry in advance.)

On OC's:

I got a lot of comments on LSoW from people who say "generally I don't like OC's BUT-" which is so funny and flattering. Because I am absolutely one of those people who don't care for OC's in fic.

Let me be clear: I LOVE that people write self indulgent self-insert of OC based fic, where they make the craziest off the wall story etc. Every time a fifteen year old writes a story about the cringiest Mary-sue/stu self insert, or non canon character, an angel gets its wings and I mean that one hundred percent. It makes me so happy I literally grin when I see it. I HOWEVER generally filter out the OC tags on AO3 when I'm looking for something to read myself.

So when I started posting LSoW I was expecting to get maybe like, 100 kudos MAX, maybe one comment or so. Which is great! I love writing niche fic just for me, and one other person who I assume I must be drift compatible with. I just could not figure out a way to write the story I wanted without a few OC's- Rise didn't have a big enough character catalog for me to draw from!

When I went to write the OC's, I knew that they had to have a very simple backstory, that was also very fleshed out. (Xander and Sal have full family, Dr. Heo and Carter have full jobs and history together, etc.) For another contradiction I wanted them to be interesting enough that someone reading wouldn't just be skipping ahead to when they weren't present, or just simply plowing through to get past the part where they were doing exposition. They had to be enjoyable! While also forwarding the story!

They also had to be distinct. Anyone who's ever watched a Whedon show or movie (Buffy, Firefly, Avengers-) knows what I'm talking about. It drives me nuts when the characters in a show are constantly the funniest person in the room, with the same personality traits, and the same girl boss/badass tendencies.

(Fandom challenge Impossible: Give a female fan favorite character another trait besides 'girlboss/mom/lesbian'. I'm dead serious.)

(Also a disclaimer: I LOVE making jokes and doing bits. I FANCY that I'm pretty funny, and I love making people laugh. But you can do that without making it a character personality trait. For example: Xander doesn't really crack any jokes in LSoW! He's just funny because we the reader know more about the situation and his thoughts than he does.)

But the BIGGEST THING I kept telling myself while writing the story, was DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE TURTLES. Because the whole point of the story is the turtles! And Yoshi! The OC's are there to facilitate that. It's a hard balance to hit. I have all sorts of touchstones I keep in mind while I'm writing, and that's a big one.

(A SUPER good example of this done super well is @faiakishi 's Bella from Dawning of the Hour. She's a great OC that's super interesting, and a super important narrative element, but she never detracts from the main story. Big Bella fan here lmao. There's also the rest of the OC's/interpretations of franchise characters (TIGERCLAW), but Bella stands out as truly original.)

On the Turtles dating Humans:

(CW: CSA mention, SA mention, non graphic talk of minors dating etc.)

I actually talked a lot about this to @/tangledinink in feverish discord chats lmao.

When the boys were growing up they got a very detailed talk from both Yoshi, and their Doctors. ONE: Because nobody will know better than themselves if something was medically wrong with their bodies, TWO: The boys are all intersex (minus Mikey) and they had to understand that there was nothing wrong with them on TOP of the turtle thing, and THREE: Because Yoshi knew the boys would be getting a lot of attention, and you never know what kind of attention that form will take.

THE BEST WAY to protect children (any child) from being sexually assaulted or abused, is making sure they know what that abuse LOOKS LIKE. You don't have to make them terrified of being sexually assaulted, but them knowing how their body works, and also how to say NO and set boundaries, will combine to help make them safer.

Yoshi didn't know what would happen in the future and in a perfect world the boys would never leave his line of sight, but that's not always how things happen. (In a Short Season, Xander parroted Yoshi's instructions before going out to make sure the boys knew what to do if someone grabbed them (in any way) and it was to bite and be loud.) So the boys grew up knowing their bodies, knowing how to say 'no', and knowing that there was probably going to be people out there who would treat them as a novelty, and who wouldn't be appropriate to them as celebrities OR non-humans.

(Remember Emma Watson having to deal with that countdown to her turning 18? Or any other amount of child stars who had to deal with adults being predatory to them.)

But ALSO THIS IS HAMATO YOSHI. His sons are HANDSOME and HEARTBREAKERS! Leo has dated a lot but never anything seriously, and his inability to be intimate with anyone but family kind of puts a damper on any more permanent relationship. (He is gay.) He's the number one turtle people ask out because he's the most approachable. Because he made himself that way!

Donnie is in a sort of relationship with Kendra. (THIS WILL BE A FIC I'm working up to it lmao.) I have a head canon that Yokai and other empyrean based creatures are capable of having rivalry based relationships. IE Yoshi and Draxum in the canon show, the unhealthy dynamic between Yoshi and Big Mama, etc. (Caliginous relationship) Donnie is in a puppy love version of that with Kendra, while also lacking the context of yokai society to understand why he wants to punch her very badly, but also if anything happened to her he would die. They hate each others guts and also she was his first kiss. She is not a nice person I am not a Kendra apologist she's terrible I love her. (Donnie is bi!)

I know a lot of people head canon Mikey as ace, but he is a thirteen year old child you don't have to be head canoning him as anything. it is the very rare 13 year old who knows their orientation, and even if they DO I bet you donuts to dollars it will change eventually. This is normal and healthy. Mikey in LSoW has had puppy crushes on boys, girls, teachers, Violet, the mailman, Adam, and Rupert Swaggert. (Eugh eugh eugh.)

Raph is absolutely irresistible to the entire student body and is completely unaware of it. He's not stupid but he's face blind and bad at picking up subtext in conversations. He's gone to multiple people's houses and spent the whole day with them, without realizing they were trying to make it a date. (Raph is bi.)

All the boys have considered identifying as girls since their Dad is the martial arts equivalent of David Bowie and Fine With That, but have settled (for now) on being boys (age 10 the last time they considered this) because quote 'Lou Jitsu and Jupiter Jim are boys and they're awesome' unquote.

They don't get any fucking privacy for their relationships, and Leo in particular had a very bad experience that closed him off from dating big time. (Stamps 'THIS WILL BE A FIC' on this as well.) But also, as of the LSoW canon they are like, 12-14 and not doing a lot of dating ANYWAY. They are BABIES.

ON CROSSOVERS:

I have one crossover with my white whale of authors (you know who you are) I have pecked at with them that I think everyone will go fucking nuts for and love, but I won't mention it in case we can't get it off the ground! (A completely okay and normal thing to happen lmao.) I think that one will end up happening though because I am too excited about it, even if it's not any time soon.

I am super open to crossovers and cowriting, especially since writing with Li because I learned SO MUCH it was like speed running improvement.

The thing is it has to fit! There's some crossovers that wouldn't have a lot of substance because there's not really a lot to cover. When it came to EiL for example, there was PLENTY to cover and do, it was so fun! But other fics might not have a lot we could do for each other. (At least, not until I get some more world building done.)

That being said I do love talking crossovers with other creators it's so fun...

To be very clear, i have no idea if I'll draw anymore with Amaryllis and Astarion djvjjgf it was very spur of the moment

I actually have a whole tag dedicated to her!! Just look at #Amaryllis on my blog!!

But the tl;dr of it is that in her main DnD campaign, she's a homebrew mix! Her race is Flowershifter (type of non hostile Fey) and Brightmaid (unborn child blessed by s unicorn- basically, she's a unicorn girl), and her class is muscle wizard

She grew up very isolated with her adopted dad in the Fey Wilds, bc hunters and poachers would try to capture or kill her for being a Brightmaid. (Brightmaids being easier to kill than unicorns, especially children)

Her dad taught her how to fight aggressively to protect herself, and she busied herself with reading everything she could (not very much 😔), and by making clothes.

They had very few materials, but her dad would go and find some for her, and it became one of the few ways she could express herself. She wanted to make cute clothes for herself so bad, so she learned how

She struggles a lot with understanding emotions (showing them specifically), and grew up extremely lonely. She ran away from home bc the loneliness was basically killing her, and she was finally too curious. Plus she wanted to prove that she was strong enough to protect herself now.

She longed to learn about everything she could - people, places, history, everything

But she starts out really socially awkward and unaware of a lot of societal norms (like flirting). she longs to make friends and often tries by giving them gifts (which doesn't always work in the main campaign, bc she's Fey, and some think she's trying to gain a favor)

Amaryllis loves reading, learning, sewing, fighting/sparring (she is extremely stubborn about winning), cute things, bunnies, strawberries, and cuddling/hugs/physical affection in general (bc she only got it from her dad and wanted friends to share that with)

Her dad couldn't kiss her on the forehead bc of her horn, so he kissed her cheek, and so she internalized that as a way to show people she cares about affection!!

Amaryllis is extremely demi-sexual and demi-romantic, so it takes a long time for her to like someone romantically djhcjcx which is honestly why me n my friend went with Astarion as her love interest in the playthrough with her, and if i do draw more comics, it would be a slow burn for them all fjvchchc

She's also in a polycule with 5 other boyfriends currently, her main love interest being Percival (who has a lot of similarities to Astarion fjhfjhg) and i have a ton of art of them on my blog

ok so basically i got obseesed with dnd a few months or so back and Ceres is my first ever proper oc!!! i love them so muchhh fr. at first they started off as an extension of myself but as the weeks passed he grew into her own character and it was sooo cool!!! so they started in my mind as a gnome rogue in a very atla-esque world but nowwww i have sort of rethought their backstory and more or less settled on an earth genasi paladin for their race and class, but im now debating the paladin part... we'll see :'))

unfortunately, while i have a lot of fluctuating thought about them, i love that btw it makes me think and ponder (basically writing but without writing ykn), i cant draw for the life of me</3 neither am i able to describe ceres enough for someone to draw them for me fskgjskgh

so rn ceres is still very much a baby oc WHOM I LOVE VVVVV MUCHHH but yeag, not properly fleshed out yet BUT im looooving all the research im putting into this its all so incredibly FUN and joyful and etc etc <33333

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? hmhmhm. i like themes of belonging and not-belonging i think? places and people with which you feel at home, places you feel adrift and lost and that disconnect where it falls apart. i also really like unreliable narration, horror and that unsettling slightly delusional tonal dissonance when i have occasion to whip it out to maximum effect :)

Favorite TOA-related memory: keras kai elephas was so damn fun to me i need to stress this. first lore event really hit and solidified that i definitely want to stay!!

Well, as you know I work as Storyboard Artist in animation, and- while I support them 100%,-the Writer's strike has affected us a lot, as most of the productions are on hold and nothing is being greenlighted at the moment. So there is not a lot of work for board artist right now.

The good thing is that once the things get settled things will become better for everyone, but in the meantime I am opening commissions to help me to support my family.

All of your OCs are roommates in a large house with enough bedrooms. What is their daily life like? Who does which chores? Are they close, do they do things together like play Mario Kart or D&D? Do some of them dislike each other? And what about their partners, do they move in too?

So my X-Men OCs already have the benefit of having lived in the X-Mansion at some point or another, and are used to living in a big communal house like that. Rae, Robin, and Madison would be setting up game nights, delegating chores, working out what to do with dinner, things like that. Same for their partners. They're the main organizers of the group, almost without realizing it.

Ophelia would mostly keep to herself, especially when she gets absorbed in one of her projects. One of the others (usually Jasper or Katherine) tries to drop off food for her on the days she gets hyperfocused and forgets to eat. She's not a total hermit, she just gets absorbed in her work. She also always seems to know when someone's having trouble with something, because within a week there's usually a small trinket on their doorstep that fixes whatever problem they've been having.

Jasper doesn't really enjoy living in such close quarters with so many others - it's a lot of emotions to wade through, even when they all get along. They do act as running medic for all the more vigilante-inclined OCs, but they don't stay in the house long before finding their own place. It's nothing personal, it just really wasn't restful to be surrounded by so many other people with such strong emotions.

Quinn ends up really enjoying it - they've always been a social person and thrive in being near others, plus this particular crowd is more than willing to help out with her disability needs and support her. She's the one setting up the games, the karaoke nights, the running DnD campaign, anything that brings the group together. They're able to get along with pretty much everyone, though a few times they've caught themself nicking wallets or phones and have to discreetly return them to their rightful owners.

Kestrel has a room, but is usually out of the house more than they're in it with all the travel and adventuring they do for their job. They always try to bring back souvenirs, and are always welcome back at the house, even if it's just a stop-over for a few days before the next mission.

Katherine uses her room more as a studio, and it's a creative explosion. She's honestly like the artsy version of Ophelia - spends most of her time either away from the house (at the museum) or working on her projects, but sometimes the others will find little drawings or other artworks left for them as gifts. She and Madison like to bake together sometimes :D She and Eris also actually end up bonding in a weird way, since her interest in history translates well to Eris' boundless reserves of weird immortality stories.

Eris wouldn't get along super well with most of the others, largely because they don't get along well with anyone... mostly. They'd be friends with Rae and Quinn I think, and Ophelia on the rare occasions she actually shows her face, but the others don't really like him even when he's trying to act on his best behavior. She's a little more manageable when Rick's around at least (he doesn't fully move in since he needs to stay with the Suicide Squad, but he visits often), and game nights are actually pretty fun when both of them are present (since he reminds Eris not to take the competition too seriously, it's just a game of MarioKart)

Nikoletta at first was difficult to get along with - the large house reminded her a bit of Belle Reve, and she unconsciously started falling back into her earlier role as the tough, stony ruler of the place. Once she manages to shake it off and loosen up, she's actually pretty good company. She and Jasper bond over both being from NOLA, and she tries to use her shadow-touch to be more artistic with Katherine's guidance. She's still not great with being social, but she's trying.

I think overall, the biggest competition would be between their cats (and maybe Madison's wolfdog Bravo too), not the characters themselves lol.

hi hi, it's me with another drawing. honestly, this wasn't supposed to be today's drawing (the original pic was gonna be one of my dnd ocs), but some irl stuff came up and i realized i wouldn't be able to finish it on time - so i just quickly drew this for this week.

this is based on a dream i had, where i was out shopping and saw a stand that had a wall covered in these seal plushie keychains. they all had hoodies on and came in different pastel shades, and i thought they were so cute that i drew what i remembered of them after i woke up.

honestly, i feel like i could have made it cuter - like if i had had more time i'd have experimented with its shape (for example, a more chonky "bean" shape versus one with a distinct head-body shape) instead of just going with what i had originally.

though, credit where it's due. considering the drawing was pretty rushed (i did the bottom left sketch on the same day i turned it digital), i think it came out alright. and i also did something i don't do often, which was look up references for objects (i looked up keychains and cloaks, and tied some shoelaces into a ribbon irl) instead of just going "eh, looks enough like a piece of clothing".

i suppose that's progress!

This is for Ainsel, the changeling who's impersonating Gwynnever in one of my dnd games.

5 words to physically describe your OC (do you have a drawing? even better!) -Uncanny -Thin -Unfinished -Alien -Sharp

Who inspired your OC? (can be your mum to a very famous fungi) The name is one I've used for a few OCs, and it comes from an old folk story of a child pulling a 'nobody' from the odyssey and tricking a fae creature with the false name 'Ainsel' or 'Mine own self'. When the fae child gets upset at the human child they start throwing a tantrum, and their mother asks who they're upset at. The fae screams 'Ainsel/My own self' and so their mother chides them and drags them away, the human child unharmed. I like using the name for many reasons, but for this Ainsel it was because I thought naming a changeling 'Ainsel' to be very funny. As for the inspiration of the character concept, it's one I've had for years after watching High Roller's Aerois series. One of the characters is accused of not being who he says he is and, as a joke, the player goes 'you're right and i drop my changeling form' before responding seriously. I thought taking that idea in a serious direction was interesting, so they exist as they are now!

Give me a song to define your OC (I will listen to it to enter in your WIP mood!) I'll give two since, one is very cliche but I still think fits them lol

If I met your OC on the street, how would they greet me? In disguise, they'd greet you warmly and probably ask you a lot of questions. If they are as themself… it depends on the context. The last time that happened to them, they booked it and thought they were going to die. So 🤷‍ who's to say, probably won't be as friendly tho.

Can your OC be your best friend? Why? Mine? Maybe, they're friendly enough and dense enough not to pick up social cues. We don't really hold a lot of interests tho, so it'd be a more friendly acquaintance than anything.

Thank you for sending me a message! I'll put it under a cut so it doesn't get long on your timeline! If you have any more questions after reading it, I would love to answer them.

A lot of my drawings aren't of anything or anyone in particular. Designs might appear a few times but they don't have a story or anything. Some characters are my PCs from dnd.

I often draw the chimera, an animal with a girl face, which I also call a sphinx (as a genera of animal maybe), even if it only has a passing resemblance to the creature of myth. It has great intelligence, but its ways of communicating might not make sense to people. Some like to trick humans and torment them with psychic attacks. In general, they're elusive.

The world of my OCs is somewhere magical, where lots of horrific things occur and lots of weird creatures live. All magic users are highly in tune with a natural world that might seem different than ours. Elements like meat, bone, crystal, mushroom, are manipulated by those that are able to understand them (which can be anyone perceptive enough to listen).

The majority of people have no daily exposure to the world of magic, living in the capital city, where they are safe. The government there is run by demons who were once warriors, mages, scholars, and socialites, who are mostly concerned with bureaucracy now. Institutes on the fringes of the city might study magic and create ideologies, but those looking for power make pilgrimages out of the city to do so.

Meatgirl was born a couple of years ago. She was inspired by AI generated images of anime girls, which were at the time, crude and full of nondescript blobs that seemed like something gory to me. There are actually lots of Meatgirls, all made by the Necromatic queen who shapes them from lumps of primal meat. They live eusocially, but the queen's goals are mostly just studying, so their duties to her are usually to go outside to play with spiders and tending to each other. If working in collaboration, they have a small aptitude for magic. They are almost always happy and don't think about things that are complicated often. They live together out in the scrubland.

These two have made a couple appearances on my blog, they are both mages that study meat and mushroom, respectively. This mostly allows them to construct a themed realms with thrall they construct with magic to run their errands. They both have talent for magic but waste it showing off to each other.

This OC is called Aoife, they've appeared on my blog a few times, I draw them mostly because I think they are cute. Sometimes I draw them as a smooth horse thing for the same reason. Aoife is a demon seamstress who likes to sew cute clothes and stitch limbs and meat together to make experimental living things. They wear a suit over their whole body so it looks like they have skin, but it's starting to wear from use. They live in the city and work for the government. They're one of my favorite OCs.

Images of this genre usually depict the Formless Mound, which is a powerful being that came to me in a dream. Worshippers gathered around it and tore its vast flesh apart and smeared its blood across their faces.

They are Sean (mushroom) and Dakota (angel), old OCs from 2014 (I think)... They are friends that are sharing their afterlife together while wearing cozy outfits.
