I mostly lurk here and after 11 years I've kinda given up on a coherent tag system 🙇‍♂️ So no tags to share I'm afraid. (And I only really subject my partner to my unhinged ramblings on game storytelling.) Anyway, Automata is a pretty good starting point! I think it does an ok job of explaining the timeline and it has a different focus from the other Yoko Taro games (themes and such mostly and it's probably his most positive game, if you can call it that :'D). But playing the first Nier does give you a bit more (crushing) info on what has happened. I think you can play it after Automata though, if you get interested. The remaster is apparently pretty good? (although I really like the slightly less animey look of the original).

Oh, also. If you get really interested, I'd suggest watching a let's play or something similar instead of playing the drakengard games (except maybe the first if you wish to suffer). The first one is quite old, the second one wasn't made by Yoko Taro and the third one is quite bad :D (Apologies for the wall of text... I hope it's helpful in your adventures into the Drakennier universe)

I'm not much for let's plays, honestly, either they talk too much and it's distracting or they don't talk at all and then I'm sitting there backseat driving like "no no no go THAT way!! why are you going THIS way?! you bastard!!" but I'll try and find a summary if I need it 😅 I have like zero first-pass reading comprehension skills, so a lot of times when I'm confused I'll just assume I missed something obvious and not worry about it until a second or even third read anyway, haha. I know nothing at all about drakengard except that there's a talking dragon with a really boring human name(?) that they've never told anyone else which is A+++++++ of course. Automata probably wouldn't even be my usual fare either except that xps modders LOVE to put 2B in situations that I see. A Lot Of. since I use xps for everything from pose reference to texture modding to playing dressup (rip rinmarugames 😔), and i wanted to see her in y'know her Actual Context with her clothes on.

which, sidenote: this game is a Little horny, but it is not NEARLY as horny as i have been led to believe. (granted, I just reached the desert, so there may be potential horniness to come...)

Alright so

I know I’ve been neglecting this blog while I tried to dodge spoilers, but! I have a  buncha reblogs saved as drafts that I’ll feed into the queue. Dunno if I’ll be sharing anything V8 related until after the finale, but we’ll see!
