I’m torn between the thought of Tim cloning Jason after he dies instead of becoming robin himself and I can’t tell whether it’s better or worse than the canon story. You come back to life after hearing there’s a new Robin and come face to face with yourself.

The idea of someone cloning Jason and that clone being given to Bruce to replace Jason is actually not a bad idea for a story tho I don't think it would be Tim doing the cloning bc like he couldn't even successfully clone kon when he was part of the teen titans how's he gonna clone Jason when he's 13 lmao but also it gives the same vibes as Roy/wills arc in the young justice cartoon only the clone Jason will be the tiny one while the original will be the taller one

Idea from this post.

Bruce graduated from medical school. He went out and trained to become a vigilante. He came back and things mostly turned out like the original universe does. Until Dick. The stress was getting to him. Gnawing away at his morals and last shred of patients. Mysteriously, the building Tony Zuko was in blew up and Batman wasn't seen again.

Years go by, and more mysterious explosions kill more mob bosses and super villains. No one connects Bruce to the explosions except for a malnourished street kid who caught him in the act. Smart little street rat that is Jason Todd uses this knowledge to get some food. Bruce quickly takes a liking to him and brings him home. Jason starts helping Bruce rig these explosions after a while. While setting up a bomb meant for their slipperiest evil doer, Joker, it goes off while Jason's in the building. Bruce goes a little crazy (or maybe crazier. who's to say) after Jason's death.

He meets Tim Drake at a function being held by Mr and Mrs Drake and notices some things. The first thing he notices is how similar Tim looks to Jason when they met in that dark alley. The second thing he notices is that the Drakes are almost always out of Gotham. The third thing he notices is that Tim seems to light up when Bruce mentions Dick. He'd love to just snatch the kid up and bring him home, but he couldn't. Not without a reason to keep the kid. It was just luck that one of the many villains still populating Gotham decided to target the plane the Drakes were on a week later. In his gratitude for the opportunity to take in the sweet child he'd found, he made sure the explosion he set for them would only maim them instead of kill them.

Getting Jason was amazing and horrible. The sweet precious boy nearly killed Bruce and Tim with the minor explosive he'd put in Bruce's favorite car. But that didn't matter all that much. By the end of the entire debacle, no one was hurt and they'd even managed to clear up some misunderstandings. Bruce had all of his children under one roof again.

He thought he had all of his children under one roof until he learned about Damian. There weren't any words he could use to describe how upset it made him to learn that another of his children were being kept from him. He did have to thank Talia, however. Without Talia slipping up to Jason about Damian's existence he wouldn't have known until one of the Al Ghul's revealed it to him. Tim overheard Jason and Bruce planning to retrieve Damian and revealed that he'd known since he came to the manor what Jason and Bruce did. Told the two that he knew how to help gather intel on the League long term as long as they could slip a microchip into one of the League's mainframe computers. The Plan went well, all things considered. Jason and Bruce came out of it with a few scars and a broken rib, which was less damage than expected. They sadly weren't able to catch many of the assassins in any of their micro explosions, but they overall won the battle.

After everything was said and done, Damian fit in well with their chaotically violent family. Even if he did prefer swords to explosives. It was much less strange than Dick's proclivities to only do harm when he felt it was strictly necessary. He gets it from Alfred, Bruce supposed.

I've been working on a fix-it fanfic this weekend bc I think our protagonists deserve happiness (well, they don't, but I want them to be, ok??). Here's the first scene I've written as a sneak peak! (And also a summary of wtf is going on, bc otherwise the scene makes no sense)

She Who Became The Sun AU were Ouyang didn't get the chance to kill Chaghan, and as a result, his plans took longer to unfold. This gives them time for 1) Esen to process his disilusionment with his father and start realizing how shitty he is, 2) Wang Baoxiang tries to be petty and pissed at Esen and basically just tells him how uncomfortable he makes Ouyang sometimes. This backfires spectacularly. Baoxiang will never forgive himself for being the one that got Ouyang a relationship. 3) Esen gets to actually see Ouyang start spiraling, and 4) Esen finally realizing and coming to terms with his own dumbassery. I genuinely believe he was getting there in canon, his father's death just derailed the impending development. With more time and pressure I think both he and Ouyang would have managed to truly become the cringefail couple they were meant to be.

“Please, Ouyang,” Esen grasped at Ouyang’s hands with a hollow hunger that Ouyang had never seen in his lord before.

And then, he did the unthinkable:

“I’m sorry.”

Esen lowered himself, debased himself, let his knees touch the ground before Ouyang’s feet, and as he stared up, as Ouyang’s vision swam and almost blacked out at the wrongness of it, he apologized.

“I’m sorry. Please, I’m so sorry.”

Ouyang collapsed. He crumpled to the ground, undone.

Or perhaps, it was better to say that something inside him gave way, and like a building on fire being ravaged from the inside, his foundations and walls turned to ash under him and, unable to keep himself upright, he folded into the fires below.

Esen met his blank stare with a squeeze of a hand, Ouyang’s hand.

“I’ve failed you. I called you my general, and still I have been so careless with you. I never thought about it, but I’ve been hurting you this whole time, and you never let it show- No, I never realized. It’s all my fault. I’m sorry.” 

It was easier to stare at Esen now that they were both on the floor. Ouyang was still shorter than him, here, still had to look up to avoid his gaze and only had to look forwards to avoid it.

It all still felt wrong. It was the certainty that this scene had never been written out, was never meant to happen. He could feel it, trapped behind his eyes and as cold as the steppes in winter.

And yet, a rage long-repressed rose up within him still.

“How dare you.”

Esen’s molten-gold hands could still tighten around his, Ouyang found out.

“Why now? Why? After so many years, why do you care now?”

Why were his tears cold, on his cheek, when he had caught ablaze with impotent rage? Even as he yelled, he knew there was no bite behind his words, not for Esen. Perhaps only for his own tounge.

“I care about you.”

“You’re not meant to. Not like this.”

“I do. I want to fix this, fix us.”

“I’m a thing. I belong to you, you can’t apologize, not like this.  This isn’t how it’s meant to happen.”

“Ouyang,” and Esen, sweet Esen, who had not once commanded him, brushed his chin softly with his fingers. It was only the barest touch, but Ouyang’s eyes snapped up, as if he had been waiting for permission, “It already has. I want to hear you. Tell me why you won’t allow yourself to accept this.”

“I’m just your general.” Ouyang muttered as Esen’s thumb sizzled away his tears. 

And then Esen pulled Ouyang towards him by his collar, until his cheek was pressed against the crown of his head and his white-hot hands branded his nape and back. 

“Exactly. There is no one in the world I trust half as much as you, no one else I want by my side. I've told you before, you're my best friend, my general. You've always done me proud. Please, let me in. I want to help you be as happy as you've made me."

And as Ouyang sat there, his forehead pressed against his lord’s shoulder, he closed his eyes and let himself sob out all the cold that remained behind his eyes. 

And at last Ouyang lets himself burn.

I LOVED THE MUSIC! a dystopian reflection of our reality through intentional use of folk/bluegrass music is something that resonates strongly with me. i mean, they knew how to strike the right chord in the hearts of book readers for sure! *the only other thing i wish was different about the music it's the variety of tempo and rhythm because as much as i LOVED the unified sound of LG's songs, i would prefer each song to have its own individual tune and ~aura)

my absolute favourite adaptation that they did was 'nothing you can take from me' (boot-stompin’ version); i am utterly in awe of the powerful passionate energy that they gave to this song?? also i loveeed the similarity of rhythm and tone between 'nothing you can take from me' and a traditional american folk song 'man of constant sorrow', i kinda feel it was a deliberate parallel which worked just great. (also i’m glad they added maude ivory’s 'keep on the sunny side'!)

my least favourite is perhaps 'the ballad of lucy gray baird'?.. and though i did enjoy rachel’s rendition (she copies a young dolly parton in such a warm-hearted respectful manner!), and the respect for traditional appalachian music, she sang it in a cheerful 'to hell with you!' manner which is less intense and intimate that i remember it from the book to be? to quote tbosas here: 'the haunting melody set the tone, and her words did the rest as she began to sing in a voice husky from smoke and sadness' – the movie version really failed to capture both the haunting tune (their version doesn't really tell the story musically because of a major key) and the lucy gray's vulnerability here for me. in the book she did what carrie fisher told us all to do: 'take your broken heart and turn it into art' while in the movie she isn't even angry at billy taupe?? like his betrayal (and her place in the games) is not a big deal? she's openly rebellious and sassy with out of place 'i need no man' attitude and that simply didn't work for me personally.

it took some time for 'pure as the driven snow' to grow on me (i expected it to be more of a waltz-like, similar to maiah wynne's cover), but i'm coming around to it. yet… i wish it was STAGED differently??? they had to combine certain scenes and songs in the film but it was such a SURREAL idea to meld PATDS with 'sell you for a song' setting? and it took away so much from that moment of love and connection and unconditional acceptance, where lucy gray is finally ready to be emotionally unshielded in front of her lover (maybe for the first time ever)?? it was a PIVOTAL snowbaird moment but they needed to blend two songs together because obviously PATDS can't be love confession in form of a song because it should be taken as an ominous warning instead (duh!). 'bitch you better not turn out to be a bad guy even tho i knew you were a villain all along' :??? and it could've worked in its own angst-y way, if there had been any development in snowbaird love story?? but since movie!they are full on survival the whole time (there's no canonical teetering on the edge of an actual fondness/love and survival instinct), PATDS makes no sense at all. so… i extremely frustrated by the use of PATDS on screen but at the same time i love the sound of the full version on the soundtrack album.

annnd i'm actually IN PAIN because they had the audacity to leave so many songs out?? especially given their ties to the original trilogy?? 'deep in the meadow' aka rue's song???? 'the valley song' aka the one peeta mentioned seeing katniss sing at school when they were children????  the festive 'crawling to you' ('that thing i love with') likely performed at finnick’s wedding?? idk maybe it's a musical nerd who is speaking in me but i wish they could have included more of the book songs at least on the album, if not in the actual movie (even tho i'm still sure, it would've been possible to present the whole complexity of this book AND its poetic side too, if they decided to split the film in two).

Fuck you atlus TT0TT “Oh here we have a canon name for FeMC, *flings out a random adaptation* UHhh here yea, here’s Kotone!” No, you can’t just do that, she’s paired with Sakuya not Makoto. It’s either Makoto (M) and Makoto (F), or Kotone and Sakuya, you gotta pick a lane! (considering PQ2 ya should’ve gone with Makoto (F)) 

I knew this would happen but it ain’t right. It just feels wrong and lazy. Give her-her own adaptation you lazy fucks.

I guess I have a few issues. 

1) It feels......lazy. Rude, like she’s an afterthought. “Oh but Silly she came 2nd anyway” but Atlus had an idea for an FeMC early on in P3, she was on the same footing at one point but had to be cut due to reasons. TT0TT It feels like we should just be LUCKY to have gotten the musicals. Because then we would’ve been SOL. (like they really couldn’t just give her a small OVA could they? TT0TT just an ep, a fun filler ep thrown in for one of the movies)

2a) In a meta sense if feels wrong, it irks me. PQ2 made it a point to show their similarities and how they are copies almost of each other. Person with the same heart. To the point it really bothers FeMC and gives her a bit of a complex (not that much but enough). So the canon name scheme would reflect that beautifully if it was the same or close. Which means the choice of it being both Makoto Yuki, or having the same last name (Shiomi, and the firsts being Kotone and Sakuya), would’ve fit that. Or hell, Kotone Yuki even. But now it’s just whatever.

2b) It feels weird to take half from the Stage Play but leave the other half behind. Kotone/Sakuya are a pair for a reason. Like, it just feels weird to pull from two different sources. And then there’s the fact PQ2!FeMC and Kotone (play) have pretty different personalities (love how versatile FeMC is, but it really stands out here). Like at this rate give her a new name (or just Makoto who cares, at least Female!Makoto Yuki doesn’t already exists to contradict it). 

tldr; I want the right names paired together, or just a new name entirely.

#LIKE HOW PERFECT WOULD THAT SHIP BE #Movie nights would be absolute hell. None of these bitches can shut up for a movie except Equius and #he would be busy holding Nepeta back so he can't take out Karkat's eye over shipping disagreements #like Jane/Dave/Karkat (all dating) is the amazing and (qpr) Nepeta/Equius mixed with (romantic) Equius/Karkat is THE best dynamic #so just throw those together and you get perfection + Equius and Dave's interaction in cannon is great already #I wanna see them all thrown in a hive/house and just see how it works #I wanna see Nepeta‚ Jane‚ Equius‚ and Dave all painting their nails together on the floor (Karkat's off reading a book somewhere nearby) #Nepeta and Jane are the only ones who actually know what they're doing so they end up painting Equius' and Dave's too (respectively) #Equius DOES try to paint his own at first but his fine moter control still isn't that great rn (though he's getting better) #so he keeps getting it all over his actual hand. #When he starts to get anygry and frustrated after so many mistakes is the point where Nepeta offers to help him #He ends up getting nails that /SO/ do not fit his color scheme (bc he didn't actually request any color and she just did what she wanted) #but he doesn't complain. He just looks at her handiwork fondly bc how could he ever be upset over something she so lovingly did for him? #Also Karkat helps Nepeta rearrange her shipping wall. He thinks all of her choices are incorect and complains the whole time‚ but it's one #of those things he'll do while grumbling when it's a ''Hey this is weird‚ though it makes my weirdo happy so fiiiiiiiiiiiine'' #Dave annoys Equius to death but they're still friends. #Just with a bit more insults and degrading comments that Equius will apologize for later when things settle down. #I mean it's not like they don't have super fun times between themselves tho. You've seen their conversation when Dave got the broken sword #Also Equius was canonically attracted to Dave during that conversation so like..... #And unrelated to that: If Karkat and/or Dave are ever having a fight with John they bake shit to annoy him #Everyone prefers when Karkat's the one to do it though because Dave ''Doritoes is a food group'' Strider makes the house smell like smoke #while Karkat's baking is only ever sugary goodness #It's an easy way for the God of Wind to lower the house's temperature by like 40° but who the fuck cares when there's cookies and/or cake. #*Jane (<- It think.
