Just broke the fuck down because my boyfriend told me he wants me to focus on having art be my source of income and if it doesn't work out, he'd help me find a job that would only have 3-4 hour shifts

He's the first person to encourage me to find income that works with my disabilities (specifically my undiagnosed sleep disorder) instead of forcing me to conform to a work schedule that would make my shit worse

He's the first person to really listen when I say I don't function like everyone else - I can't function like everyone else - and tell me, "I love you. I will support you and help you figure out a life that works for you"

I'm going to ramble for a bit about how supportive my husband is and about gender for a second because I feel like writing it out and posting it into the void for the world to see is weirdly helpful.

My husband used to occasionally use they/them pronouns for me before I actually came out to him

usually it was because sometimes he calls me "carms" so I thought it was just a grammatical slip of the tongue because "carms" sounds plural (ie he'd say things like "yes yes carms can do whatever they want") like it was always kind of in a playful manner.

I told him recently I think I'm genderfluid/nonbinary. Still trying to figure it out tbh. Some days I'm solidly like "no yeah I'm a girl" and some days I feel like I'm not...quite in any gender category. Which I've recently realized being genderfluid isn't necessarily a flux between being masc and femme, it can also be sometimes you're femme and sometimes you're like ??????

He is more insistent about using they/them than I am. It's weirdly affirming since I don't always feel like I'm nonbinary enough to say that's what I am. I haven't even told some of my closest friends yet because I don't feel nonbinary enough to warrant coming out.

Anyway. Everyone deserves to be with someone who supports them unconditionally. I love that the longer the two of us have been together the gayer we've gotten despite our outward relationship looking fairly straight.

not to tie everything back to baldur's gate but part of the reason I'm coming around to it is because I started playing as a nb tav and hearing everyone call my tav "they" makes my brain go brr, and Samantha Beart's entire existence is kind of an inspiration. I want to steal their gender lmao.
