ᴍᴀʏʙ'ꜱ ɴᴏᴛᴇ: there's a part 2 coming up, pretty different from part 1, in fact i came up with part 2 before part 1. also been working on this since the tsireya fic, 3 days ago.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
His name was (y/n). Or at least, that's what Neteyam had heard, and he had heard about him a lot in his short time in Awa'atlu. He, however, hadn't gotten the chance to speak with him.
The Metkayina liked him. Even Ronal, the bitter TsahÏk that so very hated Neteyam's family, and Tonowari treated him like one of their own. Though he supposes that in Ronal's eyes, all except for the Sully's were "her own" (Neteyam was a respectful kid, raised to be, but even Ronal drew some bitter thoughts he'd never disclose).
It wasn't exactly hard to tell that he was a special person to the clan, like any part of him could be weaved into anybody's songcord.
Neteyam watched from afar as he dismounted from his ilu. As he dug his toes into the sand of the shore, several people greeted him at once. He met each one with their name and a heartfelt grin.
Neteyam once knew what it was like to be loved by everyone in his clan, once knew each of their names, once knew how long it took to greet every single one as each just had to greet him. Once, he had greeted each one just as graciously. As time flew by, it felt like another one of his duties. Now, he no longer did at all. He missed it, strangely.
Then, as you finally turn to him, your smile falls. It wasn't like most others when they saw his dark blue skin and leaner physique; your lips didn't form a scowl. Instead, you flashed him a small smile before turning away.
Somehow, it looked kinder. Neteyam didn't know how.
He didn't really need to, anyway. All he needed was to keep up the formality, greet you with a smile just like the rest, because this would be the farthest your interactions would go.
After all, as far as the Metkayina were concerned, he was a demon and you were their golden child.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Whilst Ronal and Tonowari treated you like one of their children, your relationship with their actual children was unknown to Neteyam.
And certainly to Lo'ak.
The Sully brothers watched on as the golden child and the TsahĂŹk-to-be bantered.
Tsireya was to be giving them lessons on Metkayina life, but it seems she was too distracted for that. She laughed at your joke, her grin wide and mouth uncovered, and you laughed along with her. Truly, it was a sight to be hold, the gold of the Metkayina shining brightly. It was almost blinding.
As you continued down the beach, still so far from the Sully's but close enough for prying eyes, Lo'ak scoffed. Neteyam turned to his brother with confusion and began to speak, but Lo'ak beats him to it. "Do you think they're like siblings or something else?"
"Why would you care?" In truth, Neteyam knew exactly why Lo'ak cared. As the older brother he was, he just wanted to him admit it. On his end, there was a curiosity digging at his chest, but he was too polite to go digging for the truth.
Sensing his brother's underlying intentions, Lo'ak comes up with another reason. "If we're going to be living here for the rest of our lives, I think I have a reason to care."
For the rest our lives. Right. Neteyam wasn't going back. He clears his throat, a new mischief in his tone, "If you want to know so badly, ask them yourself."
"What?" Lo'ak exclaims rather loudly, catching the attention of those around him. It seems he doesn't care, though. "No way, bro!"
It catches Tsireya's attention as well and Lo'ak doesn't notice. She looks towards the two of them, her–no, Lo'ak specifically, Neteyam can tell. Her big eyes seem somewhat worried. She turns towards you, suddenly nervous, and the two of you exchange a few more words before you make your way towards them with quicker strides whilst Tsireya tags along more calmly.
Neteyam sort of knows then that Lo'ak and Tsireya will be alright.
When the two of you are close enough, Tsireya's first focus is on his brother. When he moves his gaze more towards the two of you, he finds your eyes to be on him.
You meet him with that small smile again and he feels the need to return it with his own.
"This is (y/n)." Tsireya introduces you. You give a small wave. "He has graciously offered himself today to be my assistant."
"Hold on, assistant?" You pause, putting a hand on her shoulder and veering her towards you.
"Remember, you're not supposed to be here." She replies with a kind of sass Neteyam hadn't really expected, considering the previous breathing lessons he'd gotten from her.
"But I can be," You bite back, "and I am."
She shakes her head at you and pushes your hand away from her shoulder. "Co-teacher."
"yay!"
Tsireya rolls her eyes but otherwise ignores you. "Trust me, he's a very good rider and teacher. I think you'll do well under his guidance. Follow me."
When the family makes it into the water, even the generally displeasing Ao'nung and Rotxo greet you kindly, an action that makes Lo'ak's hairy eyebrows raise with shock. Neteyam simply brushes it off as one of the things you sort of do to people.
The class starts off first with a demonstration on the positioning, done by you of course. Tsireya said that since you'd so kindly offered yourself once, you could do it again.
Afterwards, you broke off into separate one on ones.
Neteyam watched Lo'ak obviously be paired up with Tsireya, then he made sure Tuk was safely away from Ao'nung and his friends. Lastly, he wondered which one of them would teach him; although, it didn't seem like he'd have to wonder for long.
"Hello." You greet him. It's the first time you greet him verbally, let alone the first ever word you direct towards him.
He gulps, his words suddenly stuck in his throat. "Hey."
Your following interaction isn't so awkward because he doesn't have to say anything.
Neteyam follows as per your teachings. At first, it doesn't seem very different from riding his ikran, aside from the lack of death risk. Even after seeing his brother fail rather miserably, he retains some confidence.
However, all of it comes crashing down after his first try… and then his second and third. Frustration begins to build within him and you can sense it.
"Ma Neteyam," You snap your fingers and finally gain his attention, "it's alright. Nobody gets it on their first try."
He nods to himself and rolls his shoulders, preparing for another try; but you place a hand atop his where it holds the ilu. Instead of saying anything, you simply offer him a look. Your eyes are a deep blue, he notices, expressive in the way that he can tell silently that you believe in him. He looks away before he gets too lost.
He grips onto the Ilu and lowers himself over its body. He feels its breath and imitates its strength to hold onto its body tighter.
This time, he won't fail. This time, he'll impress you.
Neteyam takes a deep breath and leads the ilu into a dive.
The rush of speed feels exhilarating, it reminds him of flying on his ikran for the first time. The water surrounding him rushes past his body refreshingly like the air when he flies; but water is denser, and just like air, it tries to push him off. He grips onto the ilu tighter with both his hands and calves. Knowing that he is resisting something so strong, and well at that, feeds into his excitement.
He feels the ilu's strength like it is his own and grips tighter, but slowly, he feels his resistance to the current slipping.
Suddenly, he thinks: he can't make a fool of himself.
So, he holds onto the grip and pulls. Despite him and Neteyam not being familiar with each other, the ilu understands and comes to a sharp stop that nearly has Neteyam falling over backwards, but he holds on.
Far away from you, Neteyam emerges with the widest grin he's worn in a long time. He raises his fist and can't help but to let out one of his cries from home. "Ìley!"
"Ìley!" His joy grows as you mimic the foreign cry in celebration with him, "Neteyam!"
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Neteyam initially thought you would leave your interactions curt and only speak with him when necessary. He did try to keep up a positive outlook, that the Metkayina would eventually come to see him and his family as part of the clan, but it seemed far off.
Whilst Tsireya stayed with them to explore the ocean, you had other duties to attend to. Eventually, you had to bid him farewell. It wasn't with an excuse, nor with a "goodbye", it was with a "see you later".
Maybe he was digging too far into simple farewells, but those words felt like a promise.
The promise, however, wouldn't be fulfilled soon; and it isn't until the day after that you finally get to talk again. Even then, the next day gave way to the eclipse, and after that, he couldn't find you.
Just as he gave up and began the walk back to his family, he encountered you accidentally.
Though he sought you out for the better half of the day, he didn't know what to do now that he had you alone. So, too awkward to say anything, he sat down on the knitted pathway above you and watched.
As expected, you notice his presence but do not turn to him yet, too preoccupied with feeding your companion.
"I'm sorry I haven't talked to you in a while, Neteyam."
"It's alright," He empathizes with the shake of his head, "you're a popular guy."
"Am I now?" You snicker.
"I haven't been here for long, but I can tell."
"I'd rather call myself busy. But truly, I'm sorry. First it was Ao'nung today wanting to explore the ocean with me, then it was Tsanten wanting to test my hunting skills again." You sigh, clearly exhausted after everything that's happened today. "You know, sometimes I think it's just an excuse to hunt with me."
Neteyam was simply content in hearing you talk, you did something that just made simple sentences so entertaining, but you turn to him and hand the conversation over. "I didn't get to talk much about it with you yesterday, so how was riding your ilu?"
"It's strangely like flying an ikran," He zones out while he collects his thoughts, "which is something I miss. I think I like it so much because it feels like I'm defying something that wants so badly the opposite. It feels like I'm fighting gravity and succeeding. You know, I found and trained my ikran. No offense, but it doesn't really feel the same when you didn't find your companion, like my ilu."
With that said, he looks to you again. You watch him with attentive eyes that made him feel so seen... It kind of makes him nervous. He looks away, embarrassed, "Sorry, I'm ranting."
"No, it's alright."
"Okay, well, um, I like the rush too. Going so fast is really fun—sorry, I'm," He shakes his head at himself, for he was being impolite. "talking too much."
"Neteyam, it's alright, really." You reassure him, wading over and placing a hand next to his. "I like listening to you."
"Oh."
It was meant to be encouragement so that he'd continue speaking without shame, but now he quiets down. Heat begins to pool in his cheeks and Neteyam wants to drench them in water, but not only would he have to get in the water with you, it would also be akin to splashing water over magma.
"Sorry, that was–Su, I'll get to you later."
"Su?" Neteyam's curiosity overpowers his awkwardness and he turns to look.
"Short for Syulang." Seeing as he was more interested in you now, you allow your ilu to get the attention she wants. She digs her mouth into your palms, vigorously searching. "Su, you already got your dinner. I don't have anything else for you."
You raise your hands in the air, showing her that they're empty. When she sees them, she almost seems to roll her eyes at you. Instead, she huffs and leaves like a toddler having a tantrum.
Out of the corner of his eye, Neteyam catches a tsurak. It looks ominous and angry, only showing its eyes above the surface. He has half the mind to point it out until you say something that catches the tsurak's attention. "ZĂŹk, I know you're around here somewhere."
The tsurak swims over sort of begrudgingly and passively accepts your pets.
"ZÏk? Like tÏngäzÏk?" Neteyam asks.
"Yeah, actually." You snicker, "TÏngäzÏk is quite the problem. He was pretty hard to tame. Most of them are, anyway, so maybe I'm a little too on the nose. Nowadays, though," After you feed ZÏk, he actually seems to be enjoying your touch; or maybe the fish is still in his mouth and he's enjoying that. "he does seem to like me. Not that I really know."
Something else interests him. "I thought only those that completed their iknimaya could tame one."
"You'd be right."
"So you have completed it? But you're so–" He cuts himself off with a cough, as he hadn't realized just how rude it'd be to say that.
"Young? Yeah, I know. Everybody loves to tell me." You brush it off with the shake of your head; it's a relief. "How about you? Have you completed it?"
"No, I've yet to complete my Uniltaron." Something in the back of his mind vaguely reminds him that the Metkayina don't have a Uniltaron. "My mom is afraid of me doing it because of how badly my father was hurt while he did it."
"Ough," You wince, "what is it?"
"Singing." Neteyam chuckles, "I don't know how my dad got hurt during that."
"The great Jake Sully, huh?" You ignore ZÏk's idle gnawing at your hand and hop up to sit next to Neteyam. "Anyway, the Metkayina have a different iknimaya. When I completed the trials, I got this."
When you pull your necklace up to show him the tattoo on your chest, Neteyam gasps softly. His eyes seem glued to the sight. It's rather cute.
"It's so cool..." He subconsciously traces a finger over the ink, not realizing just how intrusive he was being. He doesn't, however, miss how soft your skin feels. The tattoo looks like a heart to him, the kind his father had taught him to be the symbol of love for the sky people. "What does it mean?"
"It means "loved by the people", it more than displays a characteristic of mine, it's also a wish for it to stay that way forever."
He purses his lips, "And "the people" are?"
"The Metkayina, of course." As if Neteyam needed another reminder that the Metkayina didn't like him. He frowns, only with enough conscience to make it small so that you may not see.
"...but I'm open to anyone's love."
If that was targeted, Neteyam chooses not to believe it.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Neteyam never thought he'd miss home. He thought he'd always be with the Omatikaya.
Maybe this is how Kiri feels, like an outcast. He had listened to her multiple times over their life together, listened to how different she felt, and had never understood. After all, the two of them were surrounded by their people, the Omatikaya. Where their shelter in the mountains was, they were, and they were truly what home was.
But now that he lived within the Metkayina, he feels so out of place. It feels just like what Kiri described: being surrounded by her people but still feeling so different from them. The Metkayina and him were of the same species, they were all Na'vi, but at the same time, they were different. It wasn't just that either. All those people knew each other, thought themselves family, while he watched from the sidelines.
He missed home.
He's suddenly interrupted by you sitting next to him, although you don't seem intent on sitting idle for long. "KxĂŹ, Neteyam."
"KaltxĂŹ." He greets simply.
"Do you want to explore the ocean today?"
"FpvÏl..." He trails off, just to seem as though he was considering it. He really didn't want to do much in the ocean today, or on the shores. He felt rather dispirited. "Not really."
"Oh, well." You don't let the rejection last long. "How about the jungle, then?"
The jungle? Neteyam suddenly perks up, eyes wide and hopeful. "Can we?"
Ever since he caught a glimpse of a possible pathway within the dense tree line, he's wanted to go inside. Still, he wasn't so sure if he was really allowed to. His father would probably call it a distraction in the path of discipline, as Jake wanted to make sure his children fit in so their differences could be overlooked.
He thought you were just an excuse to go against his father's word and explore the jungle; except, you were more than that.
"Of course."
The island's jungle was nothing like that of the mainland. The trees, for one, were much more sparse; the shrubbery crowding the ground was short and the humidity was much harsher. It reminded him of home, though, and it was the closest thing he would have here.
However, the jungle was still beautiful. It was home to a variety of plants Neteyam had never seen before, and each had their own charm. There was a particular plant that resembled a giant fern, he couldn't really name it. Their stems were intertwined at the base and spread outward at the top, fading from blue to orange. Their leaves were ginormous, growing like feathers, and blue at the end. The plant's blue reminded him of the moonlight at home. Other plants, like fan-like flowers, deserved their own admiration too.
It didn't take long to reach the heart of the jungle. Even though the ocean was far, just like the people inhabiting it, the island embraced water. Wide waterfalls from the mountains and cascades all flowed into a center lake, their humidity forming rainbows anywhere he looked.
Finally, Neteyam took a seat and simply admired. You sat next to him. "I'll never get tired of this."
"You've been here before?" He asked.
"Mhm." You nodded, "Many times, actually. It's a good escape, this place, away from the people."
"I thought they loved you."
"They do, just.." You sigh, slouching slightly. "they're a bit overwhelming at times, you know?"
"Oh, yeah." He chuckles at the thought. He hadn't experienced it in what felt like a long time now; it was only a couple weeks in reality. He missed it, as annoying as it was at times.
"You do?" You ask, somewhat shocked.
"My father is Jake Sully." He said, as if it explained it all. It didn't, though, so he continued. "Everybody wanted to know what he was doing; and then, he was Olo'eyktan and I was, in turn, "prince". Everybody wanted to know what I was doing. Everybody wanted to talk to me and everybody had something to say."
"It's the same for me." You stretch your toes in the water and lean further back along the lake's shore. Neteyam hears a couple joints crack. "Ah, it's nice being on your own sometimes."
"But it doesn't feel the same once you've been alone for too long."
"How do you mean?" You ask, confusion spread throughout your face.
"You're not content." He fiddles with his fingers absentmindedly, picking at the lines on his hands. "People have filled every minute of your life, so when they're gone, you feel as though something is missing."
He wasn't really making sense to you. "But you're not alone."
"I'm not." He affirms, "But I'm not with friends or family, either. The Metkayina don't like me."
"Hey, I like you." Butterflies spread throughout his chest, prod at his nerves like they want to escape. He tries his best to ignore them.
"I know." He doesn't–well, hadn't–but he says it anyway. "So then, what about the others?" They think I have demon blood.
"You're right." You purse your lips.
Great, he was making you sad.
"You know what?" You suddenly stand with a renewed vigor. "Let's just forget about it all. Let's forget about other people and just explore, huh, 'Teyam?"
You wear the widest grin–that he thinks looks real pretty on your face–and offer him a hand which he takes immediately. With his hand in yours, you pull him to his feet with such strength he almost tips forward. Instead of making fun of him for it, you laugh and he can't help but join in.
"Come on, let me show you my favorite place."
Before you could show him many more of your other "favorite" places, the eclipse came down and you had to come home. That night, at the pods, you leave him with another promise, that you'll show him the rest.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
You step off your ilu, greeting several people. Neteyam learned the other day it was sort of a routine for you.
As you walk from waist-deep in the ocean back to the shore, you swing your wet hair from behind your shoulder. You gather it in your hands and ring it out. Like a small waterfall, salt water spills from your hair and returns to the ocean. You swing your hair back over your shoulder and run a hand through your hair to push back the stray hairs from your face.
Neteyam finds himself a little mesmerized, but he snaps out of it when his brother speaks up.
"Look at him." Lo'ak grumbles, his chin resting boredly on his palm. "The Metkayina's perfect "little" boy."
Neteyam laughs inwardly. Right, his brother still wasn't sure whether you and Tsireya were promised to one another or not. He would've told him, but it was a bit funny seeing him be so jealous. "So you are admitting he's perfect?"
"If everyone's saying it, does it matter if I say it too?" Lo'ak argues.
"Eh," Neteyam shrugs, shaking his head side to side in a "more or less" motion. "I do think so. That means that you think he's prefect too."
"Well, he isn't." He huffs.
"Mhm." After beating his brother in the argument, Neteyam turns back to you. You're much closer now, but still a few ways off, and you're still saying hello to people. Just seeing you do it feels tiring. At least it gives him more time to admire you.
Your necklace hangs low below your neck, its bead arrangement falling tragically over your tattoo and covering the main attraction. Still, the image of it is ingrained in his mind. The symbol of a heart really suited you.
When, finally, you're close enough, you give him a wave. Lo'ak thinks it's more directed towards the two of you, so he begrudgingly waves too. In that moment, his brother reminds him of your tsurak ZĂŹk, but his thoughts are interrupted when you call to him.
"Ma Neteyam, you ready yet?!"
He only shoots you a thumbs up, for many people were already staring at the two of you and he didn't want to attract more attention, even though they'd begun to be more indifferent towards him.
"What does he mean ready?" Lo'ak's eyebrows furrow. He turns to his brother like he's a traitor.
"Sorry, bro, can't say." Neteyam simply replies, though he really can, he just loved to confuse his brother and see his hairy brows knitted together. He stands from his spot next to Lo'ak, readying to leave with you.
"I'm your brother, what could there possibly be that you can't say to me?"
"A lot of things." Neteyam finally turns away from Lo'ak entirely, leaving him to gape and catch bugs in his mouth.
"Let's go." You grin at Neteyam. In contrast, even though you see Lo'ak's weird expression, you only regard him with a small wave. "See ya, Lo'ak."
Far from his brother, Neteyam finally turns his head to give him a little shit-eating grin. Lo'ak only mouths to him words so rushed he can barely read them, You're falling for the golden boy??
And to that, and his brother, he proudly says yes. To himself, however, he doesn't quite know.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
"Have you ever been up there?" Neteyam points, ambitiously, to the top of the highest mountain. It was merely the size of his thumb from here, but he knew that meant it would be so much bigger once he got close to it.
Honestly, what did he expect you to say? "No. That is at least a 3 day journey."
"I can make it an hour." He replies confidently. Oh, he was absolutely counting on you saying no.
"How?" You ask, falling into his plan.
Neteyam simply smirks and calls for his ikran. The call is nothing like you've ever heard before. Within a matter of minutes, she stands before you, posed majestically atop her claws. She was larger than most ilu and her skin was a beautiful green.
You'd only seen banshees during the Sully family's arrival to Awa'atlu. Needless to say, you were amazed.
"Hey girl." He takes her head in both his hands, petting her cheeks with his thumbs. She screeches positively. "I missed you too."
"Woah." You approach slowly.
In comparison to ilu, banshees seemed very intimidating; and ilu, harmless. Perhaps, in that way, banshees were more similar to skimwings. Though, skimwings tended to keep their antagonistic behavior against those that they weren't bonded with. If the same held up with banshees, you were about to find out.
Neteyam senses your hesitance and extends a hand towards you. "Don't worry. She won't bite."
You gulp, "Y'sure?"
"Loved by the people but not by animals?" He tries to rile you up. He understood why you were apprehensive, but he didn't think someone like you–talented in just about anything–would have doubts about approaching an ikran.
"Animals and Na'vi are different, Neteyam." Still, you push on and offer the ikran a hand. She sniffs it first before turning back to Neteyam. Seems she's more interested in catching up with him than you, which is a relief because now you don't have to worry about dying.
Neteyam hops onto her neck, forming the bond. He beckons for you to follow. "Just sit down behind me and make sure to hold on, tight."
You follow his command and wrap your hands around his waist. Suddenly, he freezes, even though this is what he'd instructed you to do. To pass his misspeak off, he hooks one of your wrists above the other to tighten the hold, although it takes a toll on his nerves.
He clears his throat and declares, "Alright, we're off."
His ikran was new at carrying two people at once, not counting Tuk's little weight, but he knew she had the power to hold strong; and that, she did. She handled the two of you just like normal, and for that he'd make sure to thank her with treats.
"This is so cool."
Neteyam thinks it's a crime that you're not screaming yet, so he pats his ikran at the base of her wing and tells her to go faster.
He, of course, remains passive. This kind of speed, this environment, it's something he loves; but mostly, it was something he was used to.
You, on the other hand, "Wooo! This exactly like you described! I've never been so high before!"
He chuckles at your enthusiasm, "How does the wind feel?"
"Like it bites!" You laugh excitedly, daring to even stick a hand up and feel the air push it back. "Feels so refreshing, though!"
Having your affirmation, Neteyam decides to dive. "Alright, get ready."
"For?"
He doesn't reply, as your surprise would be spoiled and that was the fun of it. Instead, he leans forward, leaving you to do the same in anticipation. It's only a matter of seconds before the ikran dives.
"PELA'ANG NETEYAM!"
Your arms around his waist squeeze around him tighter, and he only thinks about it for a second. Your reaction, he finds more entertaining, even if you do scream in his ear.
The dive feels like you're riding on the back of a throwing spear, cutting through the air towards its destination. The air screams into your ears like a warning, its fight against your body like a constant geyser.
"Teyam–" You call. He doesn't respond. "Neteyam! Pull up!"
At the rate you were going at, you were going to crash into the lake, and today was not the day you wanted to return to Eywa.
"Scared?"
"'Course I am!"
Perhaps it was your sudden fear of heights or his experience, but he still felt as though there was plenty of time left. Neteyam laughs at your nerves, but to your benefit, he pulls up before he usually would.
"Phew." Your head falls onto his back. You're exhausted of his antics.
"How was it?" Neteyam asks innocently, like he wasn't just about to possibly cause your death.
"I thought we were going up to the mountain." You grumble.
"Oh, we are, just..." He doesn't actually have an excuse, not that he feels like needs one. "I mean, that was funny, wasn't it?"
"To you."
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Neteyam made good on his promise and you arrived at the mountain within the hour. But, because of your many duties–communal breakfast, hunting, meaningless conversations–it was going to be night soon.
You only had so much time, but you sat not doing much of anything anyway. The peak of the mountain was hardly anything worth exploring. It wasn't so big and only inhabited plants that dared to grow high. What the peak really offered was a view.
"Can hardly see the pods from here." You remark, sitting on a fallen log behind him.
"Yep." Neteyam sits on the cliff, boldly swinging his legs over the edge. He was less looking at Awa'atlu and more at the jungle. "This place is very blue."
The tips of the giant ferns were blue, and they faced up towards the sky. The heart of the jungle was a large lake, and Neteyam learned up here that the tree line surrounding it wasn't so long. Apart from the vague blob of a shape the large clearing drew, there wasn't much else worth admiring. So he turns his gaze up, towards the other islands.
"Does every island have a village?" Neteyam asks, gesturing towards the many islands he could see. There were enough to fill from Awa'atlu to the horizon.
"There's only so many major villages on the larger islands, but yes. There's at least one Na'vi on every single one of those islands... mmph, well," You chuckle, "maybe not that one." You point towards one barely the size of one of your necklace's beads.
Neteyam doesn't reply, so the conversation naturally stops there. He turns his gaze towards something else, the empty space without islands. The ocean was blue, and so was the sky, and it felt like a monotony; but also, the ocean was a deep blue, like him, and the sky lighter, like you. Maybe that meant something.
"How do you handle being so perfect?"
"What?"
"I mean," Neteyam turns to you and holds your gaze, "you're the youngest hunter yet still very competent."
You shake your head with a sigh, "I'm not perfect, Neteyam."
"But the people think otherwise." He stands only to sit next to you. "They love you."
"They don't love me because I do all these great things. They don't love me for being a good warrior or a good hunter, not for taming a tsurak or for being able to throw spears well." You scoot closer to him. He hates seeing that frown on your face. "They love me because of who I am."
In other words, "They see you."
"Yes."
That's how the Omatikaya saw him. Not for being the son of his father or his mother, and not for the duties he fought hard to uphold; they saw him, and ironically, he only realizes after leaving them. Would the Metkayina ever see him the same way?
As the sun and the moon lined up for the eclipse signifying night time, the conversation comes to a stop. It was something that happened daily, and to you, something you'd grown used to. Neteyam, too, had grown used to it, but he was sure that if it stopped, he'd miss it.
"We should head down."
"Yeah."
Neither of you move.
When the last of the daylight leaves, and the moons take over, Neteyam looks down again becomes something catches his attention. "Woah."
Many things glowed purple under the moonlight: the tips of the ferns, specks in the lake, and specks in the village. They were a wonderful sight, flickering vividly under the moonlight like another set of stars. His gaze found the moving lights of the village, likely large groups of Na'vi coming together for dinner. They come from the bright seawall terraces, blend in with the long lines of luminescent fish within the water, then emerge again at the beach; because as important as whatever they were doing was, being with their people for something as simple as eating was more important.
The Metkayina would never be Omatikaya, they would never be the people he grew up with, but he could find solace in them still; for they were all Na'vi.
He would just have to prove it to them first.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Neteyam dips his hand in the water. The salt stings a little against his bruised knuckles, but he ignores it. He cups a good amount of water and brings it to his lips. The wound on those sting too, but it's nothing compared to the pain he felt when he actually received the injury. 'Sides, he's felt worse pains from covering up for Lo'ak plenty of times before. This was nothing.
He pulls his hand away from his lips and observes it. Blood runs down his fingers. It's crimson and thick, much the same as his bond with Lo'ak. He'd done it several times before, and he'd do it again, to stand with his brother; because if not him, who else did he have?
"Neteyam!" Back from a hunt, like always.
Wiya, he didn't want you to seem like this, but if he hid himself from you, you'd be even more suspicious.
He cups a larger amount of water and wipes his face again, hoping to get rid of all the blood staining his skin. He rubs with his hands, but when they part from his face, you're squat next to him curiously.
Neteyam suddenly stands, forcing you to stand too.
Though he had made it up in his mind that he couldn't hide his injuries from you, he's nervous of the outcome. You'd be curious, you'd ask, he'd tell you, and you'd come in defense of your brothers.
So, he looks away from you, though unfortunately you're on his right, the side of his lips that got split.
"What happened to you?"
He purses his lips, his hands balling up into fists at his sides. So much for this friendship, he thinks.
When Neteyam doesn't respond, you take the other side of his jaw between your thumb and forefinger, gently pulling him to look at you.
Before he turned his head to you, his gaze had been downcast, and that translated to when you moved it. He catches a glimpse of your tattoo, loved by the people. It only solidifies the outcome in his head.
"Neteyam." You say, your voice stern with him for the first time. "Who did this to you?"
It's not something he likes, that tone, especially coming from you, but he obeys your silent pleads to explain. "Ao'nung.. and his friends called Kiri a freak. They mocked Lo'ak. Called us all "not real Na'vi". Lo'ak picked a fight with them and I had to back him up."
You're silent for a long time, instead of spewing your anger at him. Anticipation builds up in his chest as he awaits your response, but it doesn't come. Curiously, he allows himself to look up at you and catch your eyes.
Angry. You were angry. But you don't look, not at him, you look towards the ocean.
"(y/n)?"
"Ao'nung just left for a hunt." Your hand leaves his jaw as you part from him, "I can catch up, teach him a lesson."
You only take a few steps, each laced with a heavy intent, before he stops you. He's quick to step in front of you, taking one of your hands in his as another precaution. "You really don't have to. I already taught him a lesson when I punched him, and Lo'ak went to go apologize already."
"Apologize?" You ask. He can hear the absolute shock in your voice. "For standing up against his insults?"
Neteyam nods slowly, knowing that it's not fair either. "Yes."
"Who told him to apologize? Because if there's anything I know about Lo'ak, it's that–"
"My father." He says before you can waste your breath. He knows that, after hearing that it's Jake that commanded his son to "make peace" with his own bullies, you won't stand against him. Because the mighty Jake Sully knew better.
But some things, he doesn't know for sure. "Even your father doesn't defend you?" A nasty scowl grows on your lips. That knowledge provokes you even more. You begin your furious march again, unbothered by his hand.
"(y/n)." He gives a harsh tug.
"Neteyam." Your sudden stop causes you to stomp on the sand. Its grains kick up explosively in the air like a reflection of your anger. "I have to defend you."
"If you do that, your tattoo's wish won't be fulfilled!" He protests, throwing his free hand up into the air. "(y/n), if they see you coming in defense of a demon, they're going to be pissed."
"A demon?" You step closer to him, shaking your head solemnly. "You're not a demon."
"They think otherwise..." He mutters, looking away.
"I have to show them what I see." You put a warm hand on his cheek and Neteyam feels as though it dwarfs his face; it doesn't help the spreading warmth on his cheeks either. "Neteyam, I see you."
His heart hammers within his chest like it'll burst. He doesn't know what to say. "I–"
"Physically, you may be different, but you and me, we are the same. We are Na'vi. You don't deserve the way they're treating you." Everything you said, it's all he wanted to hear. "Oel ngati kameie, ma Neteyam."
He dared, because he couldn't help it, to place a kiss on your lips. It's only a peck, but it brings joy to your eyes.
"You see me, so you know that I am capable of showing the Metkayina that my family and I are not different. I can come in defense of myself, as I did against Ao'nung. Oel ngati kameie, ma (y/n), " He saw you. A boy so kind, a boy that loved him so much, that he was willing to sacrifice what everybody thought of him just to love him. But it wasn't something that he wanted. "but I don't need your help. You don't need to give away everything just for me."
"But nothing's stopping me from doing so."
"That is precisely why I need you to trust me." He pushes your necklace away and places his hand above your tattoo. "Because you may know what I deserve, but I know too that you don't deserve to lose everything. Okay?"
And though it pains you so, you will do what he asks. You bring his hand up and press a kiss to his aching knuckles. "Okay."

Can you do a Spencer fic where he and reader are ex's and they broke up because she cheated but she didn't and he finds out he made a huge mistake. And what he would do to fix it.
this will NOT have a part 2, sorry guys
you phone had rang a million times, eventually you turned it off because you were tired of seeing the same name pop up each time: spencer. you couldn’t imagine why he’d kept calling you over and over if he was the one who broke up with you because he thought you had cheated on him.
when everything had happened, you tried to explain to him that you didn’t cheat and you were at home the entire day and the picture he saw was a picture from years ago. you don’t know who sent the picture to him but it was a picture someone you used to know took of you at a party kissing some guy, it was old and way before spencer.
you hadn’t gotten out of bed in a few days, only to shower and brush your teeth. your friends, really only one because the rest of your friends were spencer’s friends and they absolutely hated you at the moment, came over to make sure you were okay.
a knock on your door pulled you away from your bed, you figured it was just your friend but when you opened the door it most definitely wasn’t. spencer stood at the door with a bouquet of your favorite flowers, he was drenched from the rain pouring.
you were upset with him and hurt but you weren’t about to let him stand out there and get sick. “what is wrong with you? get in here before you get sick!”
“why are you here?” you crossed your arms over your chest and glanced over his entire frame. spencer held the flowers out for you to grab, you hesitatingly took them from him and brought them up to your nose.
you knew why he was here, to apologize and try to get you back. quiet frankly, you would problaby go back to him just because he'd only broken up with you a few days ago and because spencer is honestly the best man you've ever met and been with.
“you were at home, like you said. i should’ve believed you, i’m sorry. just- can we talk about this- us?” he pushed his hair out of his face. you stared at him for a few minutes before nodding your head.
what’s the worst that could happen?
“i’m sure you still have some clothes here and because i’m not a horrible person, you can go shower and stay here until the storm passes.” you mumbled and moved past him.
——
when spencer got out of the shower, he found you sitting in the living room scrolling through your phone. you looked up when you felt the couch dip beside you. you shifted on the couch until your body was sideways on it, you drew your legs up to your chest and stared expectingly at him.
"better get to talking before you're walking home in the rain."
spencer had to suppress the smile threatening to show, he liked that you were still just as snappy as before. he cleared his throat and started to tap his hand against his pants.
"i'm so unbelievably sorry. I should have believed you when you told me that the picture was old, I shouldn't have believed an unknown number before you." he looked down to his hands before looking back up, you hummed in agreement and continued to stare at him.
"i'm sorry that I ruined everything we had, it was a huge mistake and i realize that now. i've hardly slept since everything happened. you were the only person that stayed with me despite my job being the way it is."
"because i love you, that's why I dealt with it. when you came to me with those accusations, i wish you could've felt what I felt. i've never felt an heartbreak like that before." you wrapped your arms around your legs.
it was silent for a few minutes, just you and him staring at each other, thought's racing in your minds.
"would you ever consi-"
"yes," you didn't even let him get the question out because you already knew what he would say. yes, you would consider getting back together with him and really there would be no thinking about it. "in a heart beat. i would get back with you because I love you and- and even though you hurt me, i still understand why you did it."
spencer opened his mouth to say something but you held up your hand because you weren't done. "i know that i'm your first real relationship and your vulnerable when it comes to me, you'll believe anything that's believable. you've seen what's happened with other's relationships because of your job so it's only reasonable that deep down you would be scared that i would cheat or find someone better, if that's even possible."
"you should become a profiler with your ability to read people." he couldn't help but crack a small joke but he knew that you were right, everything you said was true and there was no denying it. you let your legs down and nudged his thigh.
"i was thinking about it, really. i mean, i'd get to be with you every second of the day. didn't you say your boss was looking to fill a spot?" you reasoning was absolutely horrible but it made spencer laugh, a sound you'd missed hearing.
you moved closer to him and wrapped your arms around him. the second your skin touched his, he pulled you into him and held you so tight you almost couldn't breath.
"god, i missed you so much. i'll never to that again." he breathed, you nodded the best you could.
'you better not, i won't forgive you as easily if you do."

cw: fem!reader & a tiny bit of smut so 18+ mdni pls
“baby, can you get back in the fucking car, please?”
“no, far. fuck you and your car.” your heels clicked against wet pavement as you walked along the sidewalk, arms crossed and trying to suppress a shiver so that your asshole of a boyfriend couldn’t tell how much the rain was getting to you.
it was a futile effort of course, farleigh could see the goosebumps raising on your skin. he could also see the adorable way you tried to blink the rain out of your eyes and push strands of your hair out of your eyes as the rain caused them to stick to your face. all so that you could continue walking away from him.
your walk was more of a strut, hips swaying and the back of your skirt barely touching the underside of your ass. it was something that he could see from his place in the driver’s side of the car as he slowly inched along the sidewalk to match your pace.
“what did the car ever do to you? i remember you liked this car a lot last weekend.” his words caused you to flush in embarrassment, solely because he was yelling out of the passenger side window. there was no one around, but you still felt like he should keep his voice down about that particular time.
it was the day that he’d gotten this car, suggesting that you should christen it with him on your first drive around town. you still vividly remember the way you’d jumped at the opportunity to climb over the center console, your legs falling on either side of his as you straddled his lap. with his long legs and how much space he needed to fit in his seat, there was more than enough space between your bodies and the steering wheel.
your boyfriend hadn’t bothered trying to hide his bulge from you, he never did. there was something unfairly erotic about the way his hands had fit themselves on your hips as he pushed you down onto him, the cold buckle of his belt pressing into your panties as wetness pooled just by feeling how hard was.
the sound you let out was just shy of a whimper, always so responsive for him as your hips shifted over his lap, your clit brushing the belt buckle again. nothing compared to the way it felt when he’d pulled your panties to the side, his fingers tracing your slit to find you already wet for him. he’d worn a taunting grin that tugged at the corner of his mouth as his eyes remained locked on yours and his head tilted to one side.
the windows of the car had fogged from the heat of your bodies frantically chasing your release in a secluded parking lot that night. it was perfect, one of the best times you’d ever had together in your humble opinion. but that didn’t take away from the fact that you were currently pissed at him.
“fuck off.”
“god, you can be so fucking childish.” the car stopped, but you kept walking, ignoring the bite in his tone and the stinging in your eyes because of it. you heard the door open and shut and you begun walking faster, knowing there was no way you wanted him to catch up to you. especially when you’d probably pissed him off to the furthest degree. not that it was unwarranted, he’d pissed you off first.
he caught up to you in a few strides, not bothering to grab at your arm, instead passing you with ease and standing in front of you with a raised eyebrow. you hated how devastatingly beautiful he looked at all times. the rain was pelting down on you both, but the way the water drenched his long eyelashes and his dark curls sent your heart into overdrive no matter how angry you were.
“just tell me what it was this time! was it something i did? something i said?” his tone was more frustrated than it had been moments ago.
“you said you didn’t like how i looked. how i dressed.”
“oh my god. that’s not-” you pushed past him at that point, not waiting to hear what he had to say as the click, click, click of your heels drew you further away from him.
he was hot on your tail though, the both of you now drenched beyond the point of return and both of your outfits officially ruined. instead of moving in front of you again, his hands found your waist as he pulled you into him. your back was pressed against his front, annoyed at how much just the physical contact soothed you.
“i didn’t say i didn’t like how you looked. i asked why you didn’t wear the dress instead of skirt when you said you were going to wear the dress.”
it was true, he had asked. but he hadn’t asked in a way that you’d consider very nice. when you got in the car, the exact words had been: “jesus christ, skirt’s a little short don’t you think? what happened to the blue dress?”
“i think you look so fucking hot, baby. you look great.”
“but-”
“no buts. i was just curious why you changed is all.”
still, you pouted and he could tell that you were without even having to look down at you properly.
“you know exactly why i’m pissed. it wasn’t what you meant, it was how you said it. apologize, far.”
a lot of people said you had the snarky american boy wrapped around your finger. people sometimes called you the brattier version of him, though many were unsure how you operated in your relationship given that fact. both of you had an attitude that matched each other’s, usually manifesting in the form of rapid fire banter. your mutual friends hadn’t understood whether you were flirting or fighting with one another for the longest time until you made your relationship official. but they quickly learned that you were the one person in the world who could make him do the things he didn’t want to do.
“no.” the response came swift and you tried to pry his hands off of you. instead, he spun you around and hiked your body up and over his shoulder. you squealed, feeling your boyfriend pull at the back of your skirt so that your ass wasn’t exposed in case anyone was watching you both. he’d definitely thought the skirt was too short and the minute he’d seen you run out to his car, he’d wanted to smack your ass raw, knowing you’d worn it on purpose.
farleigh had wanted to go out with some friends, you wanted to stay in with him. you’d tried everything to persuade him, but he wasn’t budging. so, you pulled out your very last card: the skirt you’d bought a long time ago that was much, much too short. you knew he didn’t like people seeing you in the skirt and you had admitted that you much rather wearing it for his eyes only. so, he’d known that this whole thing was a ploy from the get go.
opening the passenger side door, he plopped you down on the leather seat, still sopping wet. making sure you were safely tucked inside, he shut the door before rounding the driver’s side and getting in himself. you practically pressed your body against the door, turned to look out the window instead of at him, arms still crossed and glossy lips pouted.
“are you seriously going to be mad at me until i apologize?”
you said nothing, effectively giving him the silent treatment. with a loud groan, he cursed under his breath and muttered a flat “sorry.”
turning towards him slightly, you narrowed your eyes. “you can do a whole lot better than that, farleigh.”
“i’m sorry, baby. okay? i’m sorry and i shouldn’t have said it the way i did.”
your smile was almost instant, his eyes trained on your body as it loosened up from defence mode. “now was that so hard?” you asked, smug now. he shook his head, both hating and loving that you could always beat him at his own game.
“no, that wasn’t hard. but i have been since you walked out in that skirt.” he spoke again and you laughed, sticking your tongue out at him. “brave girl. despite how cold i am, i had my hands all over your ass just now and we’re too wet to go out so i hope you realize i’m not taking it easy on you when we get home.”
the look in his eyes sent a little thrill through your body and you nodded knowing you were in for it tonight. but at least you’d gotten what you wanted in the first place; you and your boyfriend staying in on a rainy night.

drawing of yandere catboy 1
drawing of yandere catboy 2
Your friend stopped walking as an orange cat came into view.
"Oh- There's a cat over there!"
Before you could react, your friend dashed over to the cat.
"Aww... so cute."
"Come on, let's go home."
You said, standing beside your friend who is taking pictures of the cat.
"Wait- she's purring. I need to take a photo of this."
You sigh. Your friend was obsessed with cats and never missed any chances to watch them, take pictures of them and touch them. She also took photos of this orange cat just outside the school gate everyday.
"I don't have anything to feed you today.. but I'll buy some tomorrow, okay? Bye, Chesse."
After one last pat, your friend stood up.
"That cat has a name?"
You asked.
"Of course she does! Everyone in school calls her Cheese. Her soft fur is just like cheese."
Your friend proceeded to show you pictures on her social media. You had no choice but to look at her social media that is filled with pictures of cats.
You didn't hate cats, but you weren't a fan of them either. You've taken a few pictures of cats in the past, but admiring cats all day was not that interesting to you.
After saying goodbye to your friend, you went to your home.
"Mom, I'm home."
You shouted loud enough for your mom to hear.
Your mom was in the kitchen, preparing dinner.
"Hey mom- huh?"
You felt something cling to your leg. You immediately looked down to find a black and white cat.
"What is this?"
You said, confused. You tried to back away from the cat, but it was still clinging on to you. You turned to your mom to hear some kind of explanation.
"It's a cat from my office. I'm sure you've seen this cat a few times."
Your mom replied. Now that you think about it, you could remember this cat from a few days ago when you visited your mother's office.
"Is this cat the one staying at the back of your office building?"
"Yes it is! I made a simple bed for it to stay.. and I decided to just take it home-"
"What? Does dad know about this? What about my brother?"
"They seem pretty chill about it. Your brother liked the idea. You know the drawing he drew in his kindergarten? That kid likes cats."
"What if this cat already has an owner?"
"I checked it, and everyone around my office said this cat was alone for a few years. So it's fine, (y/n), don't worry."
"You could have asked if I'm fine though."
You looked back at the tuxedo cat. You didn't want to blame the cat, but getting a cat without your opinion was not the best feeling.
You patted the cat's head while it curled around your leg. This cat was acting like it's smart enough to comprehend your feelings. You felt the cat clinging to you more as you touched it.
"I'm sorry (y/n). I should've told you sooner, but I was busy. Plus, the person using the second floor starting next week is allergic to cat fur, so I had no choice to take the cat to home."
Your mom said. You nodded as a reply and looked at the cat again.
"Look, the cat likes you the most. That cat never warmed up to me like that. Why don't you name the cat, (y/n)?"
Your mother was true. You visited your mother's office a few times, and this cat only liked it when you touch it.
"I'm bad with names, and why don't you name it? It's you that brought it here anyway."
"Oh come on, (y/n). Don't be so harsh on the cat."
You ignored your mom and tried to go inside your room, but the black and white cat followed you inside your room without any presence.
"You really do like me.."
You murmured to yourself.
The cat still curled up to you between your legs. You had to pick up the cat and move it to your bed to unpack your school bag and change into comfortable clothes.
You crawled into your blankets and got your phone ready to watch videos before dinner. The black and white cat also crawled beside you, using your right arm as a pillow.
"Oh right.. I need to think of a name for you.."
You said as you scratched the cat.
"What about.. just Tux? That's pretty easy to pronounce."
You said as the cat digged into your chest.
"Do cats like their owners this much..?"
You mumbled.
"So Tux it is? Or do you want another name?"
Your cat ignored your mumbling and rubbed its face onto you.
"... okay then. Your name is Tux from now on."
Your cat, now named Tux, reacted to its new name, and it seemed quite pleased.
You spent time scrolling down social media with your cat beside you before your mother called for dinner. As you got up and walked to the kitchen, Tux followed you. At the kitchen, you found your little brother and your dad talking about their experience today in the playground.
"Where have you been?"
You asked your brother.
"In the playground with my friends... wait- that's the cat mom's talking about-!"
Your brother's attention darted to Tux immediately as he touched the cat. Tux didn't avoid the touch either.
"That cat's name is Tux. I named it."
You said, sitting on your chair and eating food your mom prepared.
"That's a.. intuitive name."
Your dad said, looking at Tux.
"... Anyways, why did you agree to raise a pet?"
You asked. Looking at your brother's wide smile, your dad answered,
"Didn't your mother tell you? Uh.. your brother likes cats, and why not?"
"... yeah whatever."
You ate dinner listening to your little brother talking about Tux. You felt good that your brother got a pet that he wanted. However, at the same time, you felt uncomfortable... having a pet all of a sudden. It felt like having a new family member without your permission.
You know that having a pet will feel like having a family member as time passes. Your friends told you about how their pets meant the world to them... But there was this uncomfortable feeling about Tux.
Maybe you were just mad about your family and wanted to leash your anger to Tux. You didn't know.
--
When you woke up the next day, you found Tux right beside you.
"How did you get in here..."
You went to sleep alone last night. You remembered that you closed the door before Tux gets in.
You shrugged it off since you had little time before you go to school. You walked around, brushing your hair and wearing your uniform.
"Where is it? Ugh.."
You mumbled as you searched for your earphones. You put them on last night, and the right one was missing.
"Hey- don't distract me."
You lifted up Tux from the bed sheets and searched to see if the bed sheets were covering your right earphone. You rummaged through your bed sheets but you couldn't find it. While you were busy lifting up bed sheets, Tux crawled under your bed.
"What are you doing?"
You also looked under the bed.
"Oh- You found it!"
Tux was playing with the right earphone you were desperately searching for. You grabbed your right earphone and put in the case as your cat tossed it to you.
You sighed in relief and looked at Tux.
"Thanks for your help... I would've died for boredom in school without your help."
You smiled at Tux and left your room, ready to go to school.
In your classroom, you talked about your new cat to your friend. As expected, your friend was excited about it, asking dozens of questions.
"How can you not have a picture of it?"
Your friend said.
"I didn't think of it. I'll send you a picture when I go back home."
Your friend rambled about how her mother would not allow her to have a pet. You listened to your friend quietly.
"Hey."
Someone poked your shoulder. You looked back to see who it was, and one of your classmates was standing right behind you.
"Huh?"
"You're sitting on my seat."
Your classmate said.
"Oh- sorry-!"
You stood up right after.
--
"Don't you think you and him have a lot of connections lately?"
Your friend said, eating a chocolate bar she bought in free time.
"Who are you talking about?"
"You sat in his seat in lunch time. How could you not remember?"
"Oh- are you talking about Blake?"
"Of course I am! Don't you think he likes you?"
You knew your friend loves setting people up and likes searching for possible couples, but this time, she's talking nonsense.
"I didn't even talk to him that much."
Your friend was eager to tell you what she has found.
"That's not the point- The important part is that he's constantly gazing at you during class. Also, how can you not notice that it's you he talks to!"
"He talks to plenty of people."
"Oh no, you're clueless. If you observe further, you'll definitely realize he only talks to certain people, or friends, and they all knew Blake even before highschool."
"How do you know that?"
"My eyes and ears are open."
"..."
Blake and you? That's such a confusing match.
"Your observations can't be the reason."
"See for yourself then. I'm sure. Blake has interest in you."
"..."
You didn't believe a word your friend said before Blake asked if he can join you on the way home.
It was awkward, walking with a classmate who you've barely talked to.  Blake was quiet, and you didn't know how to start a conversation.
"I thought you go home with your friends."
You said.
"Oh- I moved recently. It seemed like you go home this way too, so... I thought it could be great having another friend to go home with."
Blake said. You could see he was a bit nervous... but why?
Not much conversation went by, and you waved goodbye to Blake in front of your house. You went into your house, throwing your book bag onto the bed and taking off your jacket.
You looked around to see if Tux was around, but you couldn't find it anywhere. You went into every room in your house but Tux wasn't in any of them. You went back to your room, wondering where that sneaky cat hid himself. You were unpacking your bag when you noticed something jumping over the fence. You looked at it to realize that it was your cat that was jumping over the fence and into your home.
You quickly opened the window facing the garden Tux was walking across and let it in your room.
This was strange. The doors were all locked, and you went out of the front door in the morning, so there's no way for Tux to get out. Your mother took your little brother to kindergarten and your father went to work after you left for school.. but they wouldn't have left Tux leave the house.
"Do you get out of the house when no one is watching?"
You said, in a surprised tone.
Was this cat extra smart, or were you mistaken about all the doors being closed?
Tux didn't seem to care that it got out of the house when everyone was outside.
You were skeptical but decided to ignore it and kept on unpacking your bag and organizing your clothes.
After a few hours, your mom came home with your brother.
"We're going to have dinner after an hour when your dad comes back from work-"
Your mom said loudly enough for you to hear.
In your room, you were studying while Tux was watching. You studied until your mother called you to eat dinner.
Your little brother was talking about his day in kindergarten like always, and your mother was setting food plates on the table.
You ate quietly as your brother went on about how his friend and him played some kind of game.
"Mom, today a classmate wanted go home together with me. The funny thing is.."
You said to your mom when your brother cooled down.
"Are you listening?"
You asked your mom.
"Oh- I am listening. Go on."
"The funny thing is that.. I've never talked to him properly yet."
You went on.
"And I beat Anthony- so I got a prize-!"
Your words were blocked with your brother's babbling.
You sighed. Everytime your brother blocked your words, it felt so frustrating.
"Can't you wait when I'm talking?"
You would've heard what your brother needed to say, but this time, you felt like speaking up.
"What?"
Your brother looked at you.
"I mean.. I want to talk too."
"But-"
"Your brother is thrilled he got a present today in kindergarten. Let him talk, he's feeling good today."
Your dad said.
"I think he talked enough though."
"You talked a lot more when you were young too."
Your mother said, smiling.
You were annoyed. Why was she smiling?
Your family wouldn't listen to you, and it was so frustrating to you.
"I ate a lot, I'm going back to my room."
You said.
"You haven't eaten half of it, why?"
Your mother asked.
"My stomach hurts today."
You stood up and walked to your room. Tux follwed you.
--
You couldn't understand it. You wanted to talk about your new friend too. You wanted to talk about how Blake suggested to go home with you.
You turned to your cat that was cuddling you, covered in your bed sheet. You scratched its fur as it purred.
You noticed that Tux followed you everywhere in the house. You also noticed that Tux only cuddled with you. That actually felt heart warming.
Tux jumped off the bed and crawled to a shelf you collected all your goods like  small stuffed animals, and some figures you collected from before. It was usually goods from a few years ago.
"Is there something interesting?"
You looked at the shelf, confused.
"I don't see anything interesting... wait-"
The shelf was missing something.
Now you searched through all your goods to find there was a figure missing. And you also found some of your markers missing. You actually needed those markers for art class tomorrow.
The first thing that came up to your mind was your brother.
You thanked Tux and went out of your room, to the table where your family was eating dessert.
"Where's my figure and markers?"
You asked your mother.
"What do you mean by markers and a figure? The ones on your shelf?"
Your mother replied.
"Yes- where are they?"
"I gave it to your brother."
With your mother's answer, you went straight into your brother's room to find your figure on the corner of his shelf. You grabbed it and put it back on your shelf. Your mom watched with a confused expression.
But you couldn't find your marker still.
"Where's my marker?"
You asked your mother again. Your brother was quiet, staring at you now that he realized how irritated your voice was.
"Why?"
"I said multiple times that I needed my markers for my art project-"
You were shouting now.
"I gave it your brother because he had a drawing competition today, and your brother left it in kindergarten because it got damaged. You can draw with something else for your art project, right?"
Your mother said, annoyed too.
You tried to calm down, but this was too much. How can your whole family ignore your words?
"That's not the point here- why would you take my stuff without my permission?"
Your mother said nothing, but she was definitely baffled from your statement.
When your mother said nothing and your brother kept whining, you went into your room again, shutting the door roughly.
--
The next day, you were silent the whole time getting ready for school. You didn't have your marker, and you couldn't finish the art project how you wanted to because of that.
You walked to school with heavy footsteps.
Art class was after lunch, so you still had time to think about how to do your art project. But you didn't have good ideas on your mind. Also you have already done the sketch for the drawing, which makes it harder to think of other good ideas.
Time flew by fast and it was time for art. Unfortunately your friend didn't have markers, so she couldn't help you out.
The uneasy feeling went on. You had to decide whether to switch the concept of the drawing or find usable markers one way or another.
"You'll do good with or without markers..."
Your friend comforted you.
"Thanks..."
You decided to use watercolor the school had and walked over to the sink with a small yellow bucket.
"Hey."
You felt a poke on your shoulder.
It was Blake.
"Oh- hi."
".. I have markers.. if you want to use it."
"... wait- really?"
You couldn't stop yourself from smiling.
"Yeah.. you can take them and use it at your table. I use watercolor anyway."
"Thanks- you're a lifesaver."
Blake was a lifesaver, and that went on for a few weeks. He gave you stuff you really needed, which made your friend more invested in your relationship with Blake.
Your relationship with your family recovered a bit over a few weeks, but you were still in some kind of a cold war, and you were still angry at them. You didn't talk very much either, so it really didn't matter.
You went home with Blake a few times a week. Blake wasn't the funniest person to talk to, but Blake was sure a great listener. Just like Tux.
Blake listened to you, occasionally talking about how he thought. He was not like your family who ignored how your life was in school, and everytime Blake helped you out, you thought of your friend's words. Maybe your friend was an expert at reading people's feelings.
If Blake helped you out in school, Tux was your company in your home. When you went home alone, Tux was waiting for you behind the front door.
You felt uncomfortable around Tux at first, but now you warmed up to Tux. You spent all your days with Tux telling your worries and secrets that you wouldn't tell anyone.
Tux stayed right beside you curling its body into your arms.
Spending your time with Tux felt soothing, and you thought this would go on for sure.
However, despite your wish, it didn't last long.
It was Friday, and you walked home alone. You went home fast to see your cat waiting for you.
"I'm home-"
You shouted.
You didn't see your cat behind the front door, so you walked into your room to find your cat lying down on the bed.
It was unusual for you cat to be like this. Tux always tried to rub itself on you if it had the chance.
You sat beside Tux, worried if the cat is sick.
"Are you ok?"
You asked. You knew Tux won't understand what you're saying, but you wanted your cat to know you're worried by your tone.
You lay down on your bed with your school uniform on. There was no one in the house, so there was no one to scold you for not changing clothes.
You turned to your cat. Tux seemed to be struggling with something, and you didn't know why. You thought about calling your mom, but you knew she wouldn't answer when she's busy with some project of hers.
What if Tux needs to go to the hospital?
Several thoughts went by your head.
Tux was still in a bad state and you didn't know what to do.
You got your phone out and searched through the internet to find some clue after you messaged your father(hoping for him to message you back).
As you searched with your phone, you felt Tux slipping away.
Tux was slowly crawling away from you. It seemed he wanted to head out of your room.
"Hey, where are you going?"
You put one arm around your cat, confused.
"Do you need something? Where are you going all of a sudden?"
But your cat was desperate to get out.
"Why are you avoiding me?"
That was the moment you saw something so unbelievable.
With a blink of an eye, Tux was gone, replaced with a boy your age.
".... Blake?"
You couldn't believe what you just saw.
Tux was no where to be seen, and Blake, who said he was going home with his friends, was exactly in Tux's place, facing you.
Surprised and confused, you quicky removed your arm on Blake's body. Then you jumped out of bed before Blake could react.
"W.. wait-"
Blake grabbed your arm and yanked you back into the bed. You lost balance and fell back first to the bed while Blake grabbed your arms still.
"What the- what are you doing??"
You said as Blake's grip got stronger.
Blake was on top of you, facing you with his face red.
"I'll explain-"
You didn't want to believe it, but from the looks of it, Tux was actually Blake.
Blake's face came closer to yours, and you could hear Blake's heart beating fast.
You pushed off Blake and ran out of your room before Blake came any more closer. Blake followed you without hesitation, desperate to explain himself.
You maintained certain space between you as Blake tried to take a step closer to you.
"I can explain-"
Blake protested.
"Get out of my house.. I'll listen to your explanation later.."
"No- no- I didn't do anything wrong.. I just.. wanted to get closer and help you out."
"I messaged my dad and he'll come home soon. I'll tell him about you if you don't get out."
You said in a harsh tone. You wouldn't tell your dad that Tux is human, but you had to threaten Blake..
Blake's face clearly showed that he was not satisfied, but he left.
When your dad came home, you told him Tux was somehow escaped. Your little brother was upset. But you didn't care to notice him because Tux being Blake was the most important topic in your head for hours.
You've done some pretty embarrassing stuff in front of Blake in his cat form. You told him all your cringey moments, you showed him your true personality.. and you even changed clothes in front of his cat form. You basically showed every aspect of you.
You went to bed imagining how it will be meeting Blake in school again. You imagine yourself being awkward in front of Blake.
You hoped not, but the thought that Blake came to your house just to be beside you made you feel a bit frightened.
The whole situation was weird. Blake was weird. His actions only tell you that he's creepy.
--
Instead of confronting Blake, you avoided Blake in every was possible. You ran straight to home after school, hoping for Blake to lose sight of you.
"I'm home-"
You said. You find your mom sitting on the couch.
"(y/n)-! Tux came back!"
"..."
"Why, aren't you glad Tux came back without a scratch?"
"Can we just let him be a stray cat again?
You blurted out.
"How can you say that, (y/n)? We brought Tux here, so we have to take care of it."
"It was your choice- you brought him here- then don't let him in my room, okay?
"Why are you acting sensitive lately? Don't you think this is too much?"
You ignored your mother and walked back to your room. Blake tried to follow you, but you shut the door at his face.
Your mother noticed this right away. Irritated herself, she opened the door to your room and let the cat inside.
"Don't vent out your frustration on Tux, (y/n)."
With that, your mom closed the door and headed to the livingroom again.
You glared at the person pretending to be a stray cat. With the frustration that built up past few weeks, you couldn't stand someone deceiving you.
"Get out."
You said.
Blake was still in his cat form, standing still.
"Are you listening..?"
You said. Blake just stood there, staring at you.
"... I'll just go out then."
At that moment, Blake went back to his human form, grabbing your wrists.
"Don't go out."
Blake said.
"....why don't we cuddle like we always did?"
"Are you serious? Why would I-"
You tried to get his hand off your wrist, but he's grip only got stronger.
"You can't even force me out of your room."
"Can you at least let go of my wrist?"
"Oh-.."
Blake let go of your wrist, but he didn't move away from you.
Both you and Blake got quiet after. Your mother shouting from the livingroom broke the silence.
"Stay here."
You said, looking at Blake. Then you went to the livingroom.
"Why did you call me?"
You asked.
"Actually, I didn't buy eggs since I was busy with work. Can you buy them now? You didn't even change to comfortable clothes yet."
"I'm keeping the change."
"Okay. Just come back before I prepare dinner. Oh and we need something else too. I'll send you a list."
You got money from your mother and walked back to your room. Blake was waiting for you, sitting on your bed.
"Where are you going?"
"To buy groceries."
You looked away from Blake and picked up a bag to carry groceries.
--
You felt someone following you while you were walking to the supermarket.
You knew it was Blake.
"I know you're following me."
You said.
As expected, Blake came out of his cover. He was in his human form.
"I just wanted to see if.."
You ignored him and kept walking. Blake followed suit.
"I like you a lot.. I'm sure you know by now..."
You stayed silent. The whole situation was strange and you didn't quite process it.
"I actually liked you way before you knew me. I can move around more freely as a cat, you know?"
"..."
Blake held your hand and walked right beside you.
"It was hard for me to keep my distance from you in school... that's why I tried to be a stray cat. To get closer..."
"That's... uh..."
Blake suddenly wrapped his arms around you out of nowhere.
"What are you doing??"
You said, trying to push him away. Unfortunately Blake didn't budge. Instead he only got closer, which made your head spinning.
"What if someone sees us?? Stop-"
"Does that mean I can hug you in your room?"
"That's not what I meant.."
Blake laughed as you panicked and didn't know what to do.
"You should stop ignoring me in school. You liked Tux, why not treat me like it too?"
Blake said, holding your hand again.
"Uhm..."
Blake didn't do anything that would attract glances while buying groceries. He kept holding your hand, but he didn't do anything other than that.
You quickly bought the things your mother asked and went home with Blake. Blake transformed into Tux by the time you arrived home and everything went smoothly after that, like a normal day. Blake, in his cat form, watched you from afar as you ate dinner.
You went back inside your room and Blake quickly made his way inside before you could lock the door.
Blake changed back to his human self as soon as he closed the door to your room. Then he lead you to your bed, wrapping his arms from the back.
"I waited for this."
He said while digging into your neck.
"Hey- don't rub your face onto my neck-"
There was no use resisting because Blake had no intention of letting you go.
"I have to study. Let me go."
You said firmly.
"I know you don't study right away after dinner. Let's watch something together. Or we can just lay on bed together and sleep."
"What if my family finds out??"
"Then you should be quiet."
Blake smiled.
You were annoyed, but you kept quiet.
Blake pestered you so you couldn't do much of anything. It was soon late at night and all your family members went to sleep.
"I'm going to sleep."
You said, organizing your desk before bed.
"Really? Then we can sleep side by side. Cuddling each other."
"I'll get you bed sheets. You can sleep on the floor."
"What do you mean-"
"Or you can turn into a cat again."
"I- I'll turn into a cat."
Blake, in his cat form crawled beside you when you lay in bed, covered with blankets.
--
You heard the alarm and slowly opened your eyes to see Blake's face right in front of you. You screamed right that moment.
Your mother heard your scream and opened the door to check if anything's wrong.
"What's wrong here?"
Your mom asked.
You quickly hid Blake under your blankets, covering his face with your arms.
"Nothing- just a bad.. dream."
"Well, ok. Come eat breakfast in 10 minutes."
"Alright."
Your mom walked out of your room, still suspicious of your actions.
"What were you doing? We could've been caught-!"
You jumped up pushing Blake away.
"Are you going to change into your uniform?"
Blake asked, still lying down on the bed.
"What?"
"I mean.. uh..."
"..."
You grabbed your school uniform and changed your clothes in the bathroom.
--
"I can't believe you watched me all the time."
You said, leaving the house. Blake already prepared for school and waited for you at the front door.
"..."
"Aren't you hungry? You haven't ate since yesterday lunch."
"I go back to my house in night and stay there until it's time for you to wake up. I do regular things I missed at daytime."
"That explains why you're sleeping all day at school."
"Then will you let me sleep in your room with you? I want to beside you all day."
"All day? That's exhausting."
"It's not exhausting for me. I want to be beside you whether it's in school or home."
"I'll think about it.."
Blake held your hand.
"I know you'll accept it at some point."
Blake said with confidence.
Blake's words were oddly convincing to you.
He was beside you when you fought with your family and got upset. He listened to your words and helped you.
It's true that you liked Tux in your home, and Blake at school as well.
You like Blake's warm touch, but you'll have to think about Blake staying with you all day.

!!!!!!!!!!! New Cthulhu Season has started!! this time featuring:
The band at our fancy party started playing a song that Sammy INSTANTLY recognised as his own improv, played a year and some change ago from the balcony of a New Orleans hotel to calm his nerves, which really should not be turning up perfectly replicated here and unsettled him so much that he ended up trying to communicate this to Jack in the LEAST CLEAR WAY IMAGINABLE
we got a supernatural partycrasher at the fancy party which means wE GOT PROPHET IN A SUIT!!! FANCY PROPHET FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES!! his previously prophesied warning of what was to come included the phrase "a report that silences the tongue of ythill," which is apparently what this was, and he got SO EXCITED about the appearance of this weird man making people bleed from the eyes that he booted Sammy from the front to take it all in. THE TIME IS FINALLY AT HAND!!!
i also have a lil smattering of out-of-context quotes from session 1 if ur into that sort of thing: here under the cut!
[Sammy is played by me, Joey is played by Boo (inkyvendingmachine), Henry is played by Maf (inkcryptid), Jack is played by Mochi (whatyouwantedmetosee) and Thren (haunted-hijinxer) is our GM!]
[Jack] Aw, there's no snow in the year before, so probably no snowball fights for Christmas, [GM] Well, we can invent our own, that's fine. [Sammy] It's the ONE difference! IDENTICAL TO OUR WORLD, except for on December 25th there was snow, don't worry about it. [GM] And tape recorders! [Sammy] There's tape recorders, and there was snow on December 25th, 1934. [Sammy] AND ALSO CTHULHU IS REAL. But other than that it's exactly the same. [GM] That's it, just those little things. [Henry] A minor detail.
[GM] Another question: Christmas is on a Tuesday, does the Studio get days off? [Joey] In the Cthulhu universe, yes… And It's All Henry's Fault.
[Jack] Anyone who failed their Sanity gain checks in '35 -- it's the anticipation. [Sammy] Yeah, it's just driving you absolutely bonkers that this prophecy still hasn't happened, can it go ahead and get it over with? I hate having this hanging over my head! [Sammy] And if you PASS your sanity check, and gained sanity, it could be that you're just INCREASINGLY IN DENIAL. Like, you know what? Maybe he forgot!
[Jack] Jack's the most likely to keep up with these poor people we keep roping into our nonsense! [Joey] Hey, HEY! [Jack] "Welcome to the group! You're only here for a little bit, but have some trauma! Trauma for you! And trauma for you! BYE"
[Sammy] We're like Absol. We're not CAUSING the trouble, but it IS in our wake, constantly. [Jack] Absol is 100% a modern teenage Joey Drew's fursona. [Joey] ….Yeah…
[Henry] Is it an easier apartment to get to, for Joey, than the one he has? [Joey] That is a really good question. [GM] It has ONE flight of stairs, but it doesn't have ten zillion flights, so I mean, it's better, probably! It DID have an evil ritual in it,
[Jack] *reading the inflation calculator* $1,000 in 1935 is… 22 thousand.. and a half… dollars????? [Joey] GREAT! *claps* STUDIO'S FUNDED! :D [Jack] Joey, no, [Sammy] You can do that with YOUR money, [Joey] I mean, that IS what's going to happen to Joey's money, Joey's just going to immediately dump it into the studio. Grant gets a LOVELY holiday present where suddenly, the numbers are not in the red anymore! [GM] This is how Grant doesn't become the final boss. [Sammy] Is that a present? IS THAT A PRESENT??? Grant looks at the numbers and they're suddenly bigger? WHAT'S HAPPENING [Jack] Sounds like a tax nightmare… he assumes his mind is broken, he's gone delusional, [Sammy] Joey's not thinking about how this affects TAXES he's just like, OH BOY! More money! Grant'll work that out. :) [Joey] Yeah! :D
[Sammy] Oh wow, mistletoe's been around for a while. [Sammy] …I say, as if mistletoe, the plant, is newly invented,
[Jack] We need to even the playing field; Henry's the highest, we need to drag him down to our level!
[GM] Let's say it's just you guys, and Peter and Susie, and Norman took off. [Sammy] Aw, don't wanna stay late? Old man, gotta get to bed? [GM] Maybe not if people are saying THAT at him,
*after finding a major ice rink was not built until 1936* [GM] Well, maybe everyone can do that when they DEFINITELY survive and come out victorious next year! :) [Sammy] ….survive?! Nothing's happened! It's a CHRISTMAS PARTY. [Jack] I HOPE we're surviving the Christmas Party, the food's not THAT bad, is it? [Henry] We solved your Christmas puzzle! [Jack] The Christmas Puzzle is how much food can we trick Joey into eating by handing it to him,
[Jack] Oh no, Spark's gone to… CATCOSA…. !
[Sammy] That's fine, Disney still hasn't caught up with us, so. [Jack] Well they're havin' this whole weird issue with like, ink and cultists, it's a bit weird… bunch of the staff started going missing…? [Sammy] *laughing* The entirety of Bendy and the Ink Machine happens, just OVER THERE. We averted it so now Disney has to do it.
[Henry] I will say, Henry's been a little uneasy all day. This doesn't affect anything, it's just for flavour. [GM] But he is in a really nice suit! [Sammy] Well THAT's why he's uneasy. They had to smooth his hair, and he's in a whole suit, [GM] In a vest that actually fits, [Henry] Unrecognisable. [Jack] Who is this stranger?
[GM] Make spot (hidden) checks! [Jack] *whispering* I hope it's Norman. [GM] Both of you spot a familiar face, before he's able to come accost you -- it's not Norman, it's Denis! [Sammy] oh gosh. [Joey] Well… I don't know if that's better or worse than my initial guess of Avedon,
[GM] He greets you all cheerful-like, "fancy meeting you here!" sort of thing-- [Sammy] Sammy still doesn't shake his hand. [GM] --he knows you as Joseph, doesn't he? [Joey] Oh no…. Joey was trying to hide his name in New Orleans… [Jack] That's fine, it's all about reinvention!
[Sammy] You know how in the Illusion of Living, Wally comes up and Joey randomly starts talking about how he's a great guy and a hard worker, and you're like, we were talking about something else ten seconds ago Joey PLEASE stay focused, [Sammy] Anyway, I'm imagining that but with Peter?
[Sammy] The Studio just had a big release last year, and I just got this really nice car! and *mumbling* those events aren't actually connected, BUT!! Through the power of leaving out the middle bit, you can assume they are!
[GM] Sammy, make a listen check! [Sammy] EXTREME SUCCESS, I rolled a THREE. [GM] Oh cool! Make a sanity check! [Sammy] oh no,,, [Joey] *Mario voice* HERE WE GO!
[Sammy] Sammy is gonna look at Joey, see that Joey is like…. in the midst of a conversational manoeuvre, and go, run try to find Jack. I don't know if he'll GET there, but, [GM] He can at least locate Jack, I would think, unless Jack is in a back room kissing boys or whatnot!
[GM] This guy is wearing a really severe, matte black suit, and has unnaturally white skin, his hair is black and very oiled in a severe widow's peak-- [Jack] It's him! Bendy Inkmachine!! [GM] I'm reading this description RIGHT from the book, I need you to know that.
[GM] The music's also definitely come to a stop, while all this was going on. And then there's a gunshot! And now there's just a big, yknow, panic, like you get! [Jack] Avedon's here! [Sammy] There'd be more French-accented yelling if Avedon were here. [Joey] I like how we're just going to end up willing Avedon into this scenario by making repeated "Avedon's here" jokes, [Jack] I mean, I've been trying to do the same with Norman, but it's either not working, or we haven't rolled Spot high enough to find him yet!
[GM] You guys get interviewed and asked what you saw, and what happened! [Sammy] …hang on, I gotta roll a check. [Sammy] *rolls* … OKAY COOL Sammy's back. [Joey] *laughing* Sammy interview, or Prophet interview? [Sammy] They were going to get a REALLY interesting interview if I rolled better on willpower!
[GM] Do you suppose Joey would've helped Susie shop for a dress that she could conceal a firearm in? [Joey] [Joey] sURE! [Joey] I mean I feel like, "would Joey help Susie shop for a dress," stop the sentence there: absolutely yes. There's other things to consider with dress? Well that just makes it a fun challenge now!
[GM] The police ask you what you saw. What do you tell them, about your experiences this evening? [Sammy] Sammy didn't see a lot. There was some commotion and a gunshot. [Joey] Yeah, I think Joey's just going to report that he just heard commotion happening up front, and quickly decided that he wasn't interested in commotion!
[Henry] Who was it who saw people with bloody eyes? [Sammy] Uh, that was Sammy, he's not mentioning that part.
[Jack] *rolls* Normal success for Jack. [Henry] *rolls* Hard success! [Sammy] *rolls* EXTREME success, I rolled a ten! [Joey] *rolls* …what's the fumble point, again?
[GM, as Denis] "There was a yellow sign at the Mardi Gras party last year! I thought it was a lucky charm, but I guess… it wasn't? I had a friend who said it wasn't, actually. You should watch out for those signs. Yes." [Joey] *so tired* Okay, that's… that's fine… [Henry] "Very helpful, thank you." [Jack] (This guy's great, can we keep him?) [Joey] (NO.)
[Henry] Henry is going to have so much anxiety. Like, just in general, but over this, too. [Sammy] "going to"??? [Henry] *laughing* No, you're right. What I'm learning is that Henry CAN slide into being mostly even-headed about crises, but he has to have a moment of "Oh God, oh fuck, oh geez" first. [GM] I think Peter does that in reverse. [Sammy] Yeah, that makes sense -- Sammy just shoots straight for "OH COOL, WE'RE GOING TO DIE!!!"
[GM] How much do you suppose these boys are up on vernacular and slang? [Henry] Henry might've picked up something from his kids, that's all I've got [Sammy] That's cute… Henry knows what yeet means... [Joey] I WAS ALSO GONNA SAY HENRY KNOWS WHAT YEET MEANS,
[Sammy] I do appreciate Jack being the one to notice that the prophecy might be a pun.
[Sammy] What do we even DO with this? What do we do next… [Joey] *muttering* That's what I've been trying to think of for the last like… half hour, Sammy…! [Joey] This isn't Joey-voice, this is just me-voice. [Jack] Yeah, Joey would never admit weakness in front of Peter Sunstram. [Joey] Yeah. Correct.
[Jack] Well if anyone else wants coffee, Jack might end up makin' some! [Jack] You know, that 11:30 coffee.
[Sammy] "Well, if he plays clarinet, let us know." [GM] Peter tips his head as if he's thinking of looking that up -- not looking it up, looking into it! [Jack] Yeah, just google it, Pete! What are you waiting for! [GM] On his cell phone, [Jack] You gotta pull out your Bendyphone! [Sammy] JDS is responsible for all anachronistic devices.
[Jack] Is It An Insanity Or Is It Just The ADHD
[Joey] Is Joey gonna make stupid decisions…? [Sammy] JOEY,,, [Sammy] Augh, I should've gone with him, [Joey] *rolls* *starts cackling maniacally* [Jack] *deadpan* Oh gee I wonder what the result is, [Joey] *audibly grinning* Joey might try to dream spell… Y? [Sammy] WHAT?! [Henry] Joey what are you doing…. [Sammy] JOEY DREW!!!
[Henry] I roll to see if Henry's "Joey's Doing Something Stupid" senses are tingling [Joey] Yeah, I think it's fair for Henry to have a "Is Joey Doing Something Stupid" sense that goes off fifty percent of the time, [Sammy] It's NOT USEFUL because it's ALWAYS HAPPENING,

Ushijima:
Ayumu: Age 6
Hiro: Age 5
Fate must hate Ushijima because though his boys were a blessing to him, they both had personalities that were polar opposite from his.
When he was little, he often drew in his little coloring book and maybe played outside with his dad.
But his sons seem to have more fun throwing the crayons at each other or using them to draw on each other or the wall.
It was the coach's 90th birthday, and he and his wife had invited over some of the old Shiratorizawa players to celebrate
Ushijima had just returned from Poland, and this would have been a great opportunity to see everyone again.
Ayumu and Hiro were so excited to go. They were city boys. They lived their whole lives in Tokyo, aside from the winter trips to Miyagi and the summer trip to California; they never really got out of the confines of their high-rise penthouse much.
This was going to be an adventure for them. When the boys visit their grandmother, they usually have to stay in the house or play in the courtyard because it's so cold, but they still love visiting.
And their grandpa lives in the city, so while it's also really fun, it feels like Tokyo.
You guys had arrived at the coach's house, and for the most part, things were going very well. The boys were calm, and Ushijima was having a great time with his old teammates.
Near dinner time, you decided to go in and help Tendou with dinner in the kitchen. Ushi only got distracted for a bit, but that was long enough because when Ushi turned his attention back to check on the boys playing. They were gone.
To be completely honest, Ushijima was not freaking out because, like a rational human, he knew they could have gone far, and if he just went into the woods a little bit, he would probably find them.
It didn't cross his mind that he should tell you the boys were gone, so he went in to find them without telling anyone.
The sun was lowering in the sky, but he finally stumbled onto them a few meters into the wood. They were covered in mud, and Ayumu was pushing his brother into the pond, yelling, "Walk the plank!!"
Ushi stood there and watched them playing pretend because, honestly, sometimes, their chaos was cute.
But then, just as Hiro was about to jump into the water, he remembered that Hiro can't swim.
Without much thought, he dove into the pond to save his little boy.
They trudged back to the house, muddy and soaking wet. Ayumu was on his back while Hiro was in his arms.
By the time they returned, everyone was standing outside worrying because the sun had set at least an hour ago, and they hadn't come in for dinner.
You wanted to be mad when you heard what happened, but they looked so funny you forgot your anger.

Kageyama:
Ren: Age 3
Ren was so much like his father. It was scary. Little Ren was not only a carbon copy of his father with the same raven hair and blueberry eyes, but he had his personality to boot.
It pissed you off a little. I mean, you held that little boy inside of you for nine months. Would it have killed him to be a little like you?
He could go an entire day just playing in his playpen, only going to find you or his dad when he was sleepy or hungry.
That day was the first day Kageyama would take care of Ren alone since returning from Italy.
It was a blessing to Kageyama that Ren was such a low-maintenance kid because all he had to do was feed him, keep him clean, and keep him alive.
It was just past two, and the boys had just finished lunch—a bowl of Udon for Kageyama and some pieces of Tonkatsu Ren. And with their stomachs full, sleep started to set in.
The boys curled up on the sofa. Ren rested his head on his dad's chest and snuggled into it, ready to nap.
Kageyama pulled a blanket on them and gave in to sleep himself.
He had only planned on sleeping for 30 minutes tops. But by the time he woke, the sunlight that filtered into the room was replaced with moonlight.
The clock above the TV read 7:00 pm. It was dinner time now, and Ren was gone.
Wait...Ren was...GONE.
This man shot up from the couch so fast. He actually tripped over the blanket, but he couldn't care less. He was frantically running through the house, calling Ren's name.
Nothing in the house looked out of place, so his mind went to the worst possible scenario: he either ran away or was kidnapped.
Was there a reason a three-year-old would run away from the father he cried for an entire year to see? No. Was there a way that anyone could get past the top-tier security system in the house to take his son without triggering the loud ass alarm and alerting every police officer in Tokyo? No. But was Kageyama thinking rationally? Also no.
Unlike the others, Kageyama just straight-up called you in his panic and told you what happened.
So you calmed him down, assuring him that Ren was still in the house, and told him to check the playpen. Ren had a favorite nap spot in the corner of the pen where it stashed a bunch of pillows and blankets and his volleyball plushy.
Thank god because when Kageyama finally saw his little boy cuddle up in those blankets in the corner, he felt his heart relax.

Hoshiumi:
Misa: Age 9
If I'm honest, he is the one that got lost, but he will never admit that.
And even before this, Hoshiumi had lost Misa plenty of times, but he would never admit that either.
Misa already knew the drill: if she "got lost." Just wait until your father realizes you're gone and for him to return and "find" you.
Misa was definitely less impulsive than her father, but nonetheless, she was an absolute daddy girl. Whenever Hoshiumi had time off, she was stuck to him like glue.
This led to him planning many father-daughter days while you were off at work.
That day, he decided they would go to the arcade; it had been years since he went, and Misa was finally old enough to enjoy it.
At first, they started on the kitty games like wack a mole, fishing, etc. Those were good warm-ups, but just like her father, Misa was ambitious and wouldn't let her age get in the way of having fun on the more challenging games.
But before that, they had to eat lunch. After all, you can't dominate the virtual world on an empty stomach.
The first game those two set their eyes on afterward was a shooting game called "Last Man Standing."
It was basically laser tag, and the winner would get their choice of anything in the prize booth and 50% off all purchasable items.
The game started with them playing together and having fun, but as Hoshi got into the game, he began leaving Misa behind to reach the target.
He did end up winning, but he completely lost sight of where his daughter was in the process.
He basically begged the arcade workers to shut down the place to find his little girl.
It didn't take long because as soon as they shut down the game and turned the lights on in the room. Misa was sitting in the corner, playing with her fingers.
He bought her anything and everything she wanted from the prize booth to compensate for what happened.
He usually did this every time she "got lost." Like when he lost her in the supermarket, they came home with 12 chocolate bars and a bunch of sugary cereal but none of the vegetables you had sent them out for.
When you got home, Misa was curled up in her bed surrounded by stuffed animals and unopened chocolate.
"You lost her again, didn't you?"
"No.........."
"Uh-hmm"
"It's true!"

Hey! I read your study tips both posts regarding adhd . (Feel free to ignore )
I am still undiagnosed and I think it's adhd but i do not have the resources nor the environment or support system to do anything about it .I am a high schooler preparing for entrance exams and i really need to like get my shit together and i feel like i have wasted sm time already but i really do want to get better. When i sit to study i just can't focus if I keep my phone in some other room then also i would just sit and stare at my books without accomplishing something. I am trying really but it's feels like my brain is frozen and my body is moving .my brain keep screaming guilty and ashamed but i can't seem to do anything about it.your study post actually i related to a lot because pomodro kind of seems to be working for everyone but me and the you described the exact same things I do
I know this is a lot to ask for please feel free to ignore but how do I stop Letting my emotions take over and study consistently because I only have one chance at the exams
Oh my, first of all I’d like to say that, as cliché as it is, I know exactly how you feel. I was undiagnosed for so long (I was only diagnosed a few months ago) and I didn’t even know that the adhd things I experience on a regular basis wasn’t normal or neurotypical for so long.
first up : I know this is difficult, but please do not say such things about yourself. I’m not gonna get into the whole thing, (cuz I have done a post on that already) but it’s true that the more you drill that bad stuff into your brain, the more it’s gonna stick. We need our brains to be in the best condition possible to study efficiently and saying bad stuff about yourself that isn’t even true is just going to hinder your performance. You got this. I promise you’re not lazy. Your brain just isn’t motivated by the same things others are, but we can work with that simple difference.
I’ll make a separate post on how not to let your emotions take over, but for now …
adhd study tips for those trying to get into the habit.
— by a stem student with adhd.
here’s my first post on adhd study tips.
— don’t put your phone in a different room. Instead, download an app that prevents you from using other apps on your phone.
there’s plenty of apps that do this but the one I prefer is ypt because all its features are completely free and it stops your timer when you exit the app unless you enter ‘allowed app mode.’ I don’t know about you, but if I find that I’m just zoning out on my textbook then I end up stopping my timer and deleting the record because I know I didn’t actually study, and this motivates me to actually get some work done. The timer also gets me motivated to keep going for longer so I have physical proof of my focus time and studies. It will feel good to even have just 1 hour of study time on it, I promise.
— even if you’re not interested in your studies, try your best to find even one thing that interests you.
novelty, challenge and interest are some of the best motivators of the adhd brain, so use it. I know that sparking your curiosity for a subject you hate seems impossible, but hear me out.
ever since I was young, I was exposed to books and I drew everyday. This caused me to become very passionate about the arts, but since I had adhd and didn’t know, I failed all my classes and specifically hated chemistry because it was specifically designed to be everything that I can’t be good at due to my poor memory and the need to memorize a TON of concepts. Then during class one day, I was doing chemistry work with my friends and felt frustrated that they could easily balance equations and work out which compounds were acids or bases purely by its chemical formula. And that’s what sparked me to start reading my textbook to see what the big deal was. How was it possible for one to just know when something is a acid solely from looking at a bunch of letters? This started a chain reaction; I found my answer, and found that the process of finding my answer and learning this new information was fulfilling. So I looked at all the other chemistry topics, and it turns out chemistry was fun. I was supposed to be an art student but now I’m majoring in chemistry and biology, all because of that sense of challenge and curiosity I was given that day.
tdlr; I was bad at chemistry but I’m now majoring in it because I felt challenged by a friend and was curious to know how they could solve chem equations easily.
All it took was a bit of curiosity. It’s a very powerful thing to the adhd brain. And if you use this as a motivator for your studies it might even cause you to hyper-fixate on your work, which means you’ll naturally spend more time studying just to find all the answers you’re now dying to know.
— use the pomodoro timer, but think about the things that you have to do that seems a little impossible to do under 25 minutes.
This fulfills the ‘challenge’ category I mentioned in the previous tip.
Let me explain; I subconsciously started doing this to myself without anyone telling me this and it’s helped me a LOT. Here’s an example;
“This chapter’s too long, it’s impossible to read through everything and understand the key concepts in just twenty five minutes.”
is it, though?
So I was off to the races, genuinely reading through every page and taking note of every single heading or bold or italicized word so I will be able to summarize the entire topic by the time the twenty five minutes is up.
And it doesn’t even matter if you don’t make that twenty five minute mark, because you’ll feel a sense of defeat and try it again with another chapter/topic.
this accomplishes two things; one, the work you’ve been putting off or zoning out on is now probably 20% - 50% completed and now you feel motivated to continue. Two, this method will train you to be faster in learning or studying new material or even just completing work in general, depending on what you’re challenging yourself to do.
— dress up, do your hair, study at a library or cafe you love (and possibly make pretty notes.)
I’ve talked about interest, I’ve talked about challenge, and now I’m gonna talk about novelty.
Do this with purpose! But what do I mean by that?
I’m sure you’ve come across studious girls in media or even people on social media making videos and taking pretty photos of their day out to study. Usually they’re dressed the part and even if they’re not, there’s a certain vibe, aesthetic or aura about them that is just so desirable that it makes you wish you were doing what they were doing. And if you don’t feel this way, find content creators or media that do make you feel this way.
How will this help me? Well, there are actually a few reasons but the first one that comes to mind is that this is also an adhd tip used outside of studying. Combining a task you don’t want to do with a task you’d like to do is a faster and more efficient way of convincing yourself to do long, difficult or even tiring tasks. Another is that doing this would also mean you’ve technically gotten yourself to desire studying, something more commonly known as romanticizing studying. If you make studying look fun, glamorous or even desirable for yourself then you’re sure to get to the hideous parts of it. Think about being a straight A student, someone who’s always wearing nice clothes with great hair and such a focused work ethic. Once you desire to be that person and you dress like that person, you’ll start to do the things that person will do.
— use the pomodoro timer but set it to even shorter bursts instead. (e.g. 15 minutes work, 5 minutes break.)
Or hell, on my worst days I set it to 5 minutes work, 5 minutes break.
The whole point of this exercise is to just start, because that’s arguably the hardest part about studying, you can’t get yourself to actually start or to actually focus. So promise yourself a five minute break after a very short amount of time of reading.
— skip straight to the questions of a topic, try to do them and identify the information you need to get the answer right.
For example, I came across a bio question that was rather simple but I didn’t know the answer to because I haven’t revised the topic for a while, and the question was, what is needed in the body for anaerobic respiration to take place? And the answer was simple, but I didn’t know because again, I didn’t study the material before answering the paper.
one’s brain can have the habit of being complacent especially when you don’t wanna do work, so diving head first into the questions and realizing that you dont know jack shit would be a good wake up call for you and your brain—and this can connect to the second point that I made because you might find that you’d be eager to get the answer right all on your own, and become curious as to what the answer is.
important to remember …
erase everything bad that you were told or led to believe about studying. I promise that if you look for ways to make it engaging for you and form a habit, studying can be something you don’t dread or worry about everyday. You are capable. This is the start of your journey. Yes, the question of ‘what if I get distracted again’ will always be there but think about what could happen if today is the first day you’re not distracted. If you don’t at least try to start now, you will have zero chance of being able to actually focus and study. But if you try, the worst that will happen is that you tried. If you keep trying, it will happen. I promise.
If you need any more tips regarding adhd, (or being undiagnosed,) please do let me know. I’ll do my best to help.

Author’s Note: Sorry this is so long - I started writing and kept going. It’s been a busy few days so I haven’t been writing as much but hopefully I’ll be back to it now :)
———
The thing about being in the celebrity world was that, eventually, everyone was connected. Whether it was a friend of a friend who worked with another guy on a film ten years ago, or it was a neighbour’s neighbour - everyone eventually got to someone else. That’s how you’d met the majority of the people that you considered friends in the industry. You’d released your first album three years ago but it still felt like you were taking your first steps in being ‘famous’. Thankfully, you’d met some good people - Kelsea had become like a sister to you and she’d taken you under her wing instantly. Since she’d started dating Chase, too, she’d been introducing you to more and more people - notably, Drew. She knew that you two would hit it off when she introduced you at a party and you clicked almost instantly, spending the entire night talking in a booth away from the crowd. Since then, he texted you everyday, he’d become the guy you rang when you were walking home or in a taxi on your own, the one you texted to say a quick ‘home safe’. He sent you stupid videos he found online, and facetimed you to listen to him run his lines, or when he needed help with what to wear to an event. Drew was just… nice, you know?
“Okay, sorry, I’m back,” His face pops back into the frame of the facetime call as he sits back down on the couch and picks up his phone from where it was sat pointing up towards the ceiling, “My food arrived.”
“What did you order?” You ask, propping your phone up against the coffee machine on your counter so that you could open your own bag of takeout food.
“I went for chinese food,” He grins, pulling out the boxes of takeout.
“Me too,” You laugh, “But the good place was closed so I had to order from the kind of shitty one.”
“You hate the kind of shitty one, you’re going to eat the chicken and say that it’s a bit dry and that your rice doesn’t have enough flavor, and then you’re going to complain that your takeout night was ruined.”
You narrow your eyes at him through the screen, “That happened one time! How do you even remember that?”
Drew chuckles and sets his phone down so that he can eat, leaning it against the lamp beside his couch so that he’s still visible in the frame, “I remember things (Y/L/N).”
“Okay, which film did you choose?”
“Oh, I picked a terrible one, you’re going to love it. And I think if we try a few times we’ll be able to get the timing perfect this time.”
~~~
“Okay so what are we actually going to tonight?” You ask Kelsea, laying back against the cushions on her bed as she potters around the room, deciding on her outfit.
“It’s a party, I don’t know anything more than that,” She laughs, “It’s meant to be good though, it seems like everyone in LA is going.”
“I don’t like these things, they’re so stressful,” You grumble, pulling the hood of your hoodie up over your head.
“Well maybe if you started getting ready you’d feel more up for it a-“
She’s cut off by the sound of a key in the door, followed by two familiar voices laughing as they walk in. The pair round the corner and you’re met with the sight of Chase and Drew coming into the apartment.
“Hey honey,” Chase grins when he sees Kelsea, going over to kiss her quickly, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“Hey (Y/N),” Drew wiggles his brows, slipping off his shoes and flopping down onto the bed next to you, he looks at you and puckers his lips exaggeratively.
“Grow up,” You roll your eyes, turning around so you can rest your head against his chest sideways, your legs dangling off the side of the bed as he stretches down the length of the mattress.
“(Y/N) I need you to talk some sense into Drew here,” Chase encourages, “He doesn’t want to come tonight.”
“I mean, I’m not up for it yet either,” You shrug, “I need like a shot or two and then I’ll be more in the mood to party.”
“Shots, okay, we can do shots,” Chase nods, “How about you two can start getting ready, and we’ll make dinner, and we’ll get some drinks. Sound good?”
“I didn’t agree to make dinner,” Drew points out, “Frankly I can’t think of anything worse.”
You reach a hand back to poke at his ribs and he flinches back from you, locking an arm around your neck and shoulders to trap you against him. He uses his other arm to tickle at your sides until you’re writhing underneath his touch.
“Drew!” You squeal, fighting to get away from him, your legs flailing.
Chase and Kelsea look at each other with a knowing expression, like they were watching the start of a film they already knew the ending to - a sort of inevitability that it seemed impossible to avoid.
~~~
You spend the next hour or two getting ready with Kelsea, changing your outfit three times before settling on one - a black crop top with spaghetti straps and a pair of wide leg black pants, heels underneath that were practically hidden by the excess length of the trousers.
“You guys ready to go? The uber’s here!” Chase calls out, knocking a couple of times on the door of the bedroom before poking it open just an inch or two before opening it fully, “Alright, good to go?”
“Yeah, yeah, let’s go,” Kelsea nods, smoothing her hands over her dress.
When she goes over to him, he wraps an arm around her and tells her she looks beautiful, kissing her shoulder. You follow behind and see Drew waiting for you as the other two leave just ahead.
“Well don’t you scrub up well,” He grins, reaching out his elbow for you to link an arm with his, still taller than you even with your heels on.
“Not so bad yourself, Starkey,” You laugh, holding your hand around his bent arm to help you walk with him.
“Okay, so, how long do we have to stay at this thing tonight?” Drew asks, stepping forward and reaching out a hand for you to take as you’re about to descend the stairs.
“Come on, it’ll be fine, at least we know a few people that will be there,” You point out, “Can’t be that bad.”
“You’ll be regretting saying that later, I promise,” He shakes his head, waving his hand a little more in front of you, “Come on, hurry up.”
He’s wearing a dark green button up shirt and black carpenter jeans, baggy around his legs. It seems to darken the features of his face, defining the freckles around his nose and cheeks, lessening the normal brightness in his eyes. His hair is growing out now from him shaving it for Outer Banks and you’re sure it gives him an innocence beyond what anyone else saw. You loved it most when it was messy, a hundred directions on his head, a sort of carelessness to it.
“Are you coming or what?”
It’s Chase that calls up from the bottom of the stairwell. And you realise for all of the time you’d been staring at Drew, admiring him, he’d been staring at you too.
~~~
The party is already busy when you arrive and there’s people queuing up outside to try to get in. Drew links arms with you as you get out of the car, like he’s constantly scared you’re on the brink of falling whenever you’re in heels. It’s in a club, already littered with tens too many bodies, and music that pounds from the walls, chatter drowned out by the noise.
“Let’s go get us some drinks,” Drew says into your ear and he moves his hand from your arm to press on the small of your back, guiding you in front of him as if he would shield you from the growing crowd behind.
You slip through non-existent gaps in the crowd until you eventually break through to the bar, waiting in the queue with Drew behind you. His hand falls to your waist, his body towering over you from behind and his eyes seemingly on full alert for everything and everyone around you.
“A tequila sprite and a rum and coke please,” You call over the bar to the server who nods at you with a smile, taking two glasses to prepare the drinks.
Drew shifts into the space beside you and leans his forearms on the bar, “Are you trying to get me-“
“Hey!” It’s a voice from beside him that interjects, a girl.
She’s about your age, you think, with makeup that you’re certain you couldn’t match even with the best products. She must be a model, and her outfit is like something straight from a runway. You’re suddenly aware of how itchy your top feels around your chest, and how your trousers don’t seem to be sitting in the right place on your waist anymore. But you ignore it, turning back to the bartender as he pours in the rest of your drink.
“Have we met before?” She asks to Drew, her hand falling to his upper arm.
He looks at her with a frown, “No, no, I don’t think so. I guess I would remember if we did.”
“Well, yours is a face I definitely wouldn’t forget,” She smiles in return, “Who did you come with tonight?”
“Just a few friends,” He returns.
You pause with the drinks glasses in your hand, suddenly hyperaware of how the condensation seems to scratch with the cold against your palms. A few friends. He wasn’t wrong. You and him were just friends, right?
“Well, maybe if your friends don’t mind you could come and dance with me,” The girl smiles, her hand not yet moving from his arm.
“Yeah, well, maybe I’ll see you around.”
With that, she disappears and Drew turns back in your direction, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Oh, um, here,” You clear your throat, stretching out an arm to give him his drink.
He takes it from you and smiles, taking a sip, “Alright, should we go find the other two?”
You nod and follow behind him in the crowd, he stretches an open hand back as if offering for you to take it but you pause before doing so. It was still undecided in your mind if that was a good thing or a bad thing that he’d been so completely nonchalant. Like that had just happened and it didn’t mean anything. Did it not mean anything because he wasn’t trying to flirt back? Or did it not mean anything because he didn’t think you should care if he was flirting?
After a second too long without your hold, Drew turns back to look for you, eyes flicking between you and his empty hand as if reminding you that he needed to know you were there. You place your hand in his palm and let his fingers wrap around you, not making any move to hold his hand back, just yet.
You meet up with Kelsea and Chase and end up on the dancefloor. Your drink is finished by now and so is another and another, and at some point you’d all done two rounds of shots. Drew is dancing beside you, his arm bumping yours as he moves, trying to make you laugh with every exaggerated dance, or every effort to shout the lyrics of every song he recognised.
At some point, a group of girls are dancing beside you and one of them reaches out to tap Drew on the shoulder. He turns around one another of the girls reaches a hand out for him to take, spinning herself around and starting to dance with him. Chase nudges you and points in that direction as if you hadn’t seen it in the first place, watching as Drew gets engulfed by the group, dancing with them as they laugh at his moves. Kelsea glances in your direction and her brows drop as if concerned, as if worried for your reaction. You force yourself to smile at her and tear your eyes away from Drew, taking a long sip of your drink.
This was silly. You couldn’t keep thinking about this. But the more you thought about not thinking it, the more you thought about it. And you found yourself looking to the group of girls more and more often. They were all in different dresses, and you were sure you recognised their faces from the TikToks that could come up on your for you page of ‘get ready with me’ videos or ‘get dressed with me to go to…’ videos, another two of them you’ve seen at a fashion week before. They’re gorgeous. Their makeup still looks pristine even after hours of being in this hot club. And you’re suddenly aware of how yours is starting to feel more obvious on your face, how your foundation probably doesn’t look as good as it did when you left. How the curl of your lashes has probably dropped by now, your lipgloss non existent. You’re thinking of everything.
When you look back again, Drew’s leaning down to the height of one of the girls so that she can speak into his ear. He laughs at something she’s said and pulls away slightly, his eyes catching yours as his gaze flicks away from her. He smiles but you find yourself looking away before you can think to smile back, feeling slightly less comfortable amongst the party of unknown people.
~~~
You’d stayed at Kelsea’s that night, sleeping in her spare room, and you’re up before she is, a cup of coffee in hand as you’re sat on her balcony.
“Hey, honey,” Her voice cuts in as you’re halfway through your cup of coffee, “How long have you been up?”
“Not long, the pot’s still full if you want some,” You smile, tucking your feet underneath you on the chair.
“I’ll grab some in a minute,” Kelsea responds, sitting down on the other chair, “So, how are you doing after last night?”
You look at her and ponder giving a dismissive response but her face is too genuine to try and lie to, “I- I don’t know how to feel.”
“Okay, well I’m just going to start this by saying you’re allowed to feel upset, if that’s what you’re thinking.”
“I don’t know if I am though Kels, like me and Drew are just friends - why would I think that I have any place to feel any type of way about him and girls from clubs, you know?” You shake your head, taking a sip of your coffee to stop your bottom lip from trembling, “I just… me and him… I’ve never seen him with girls like that, so I didn’t know what to think.”
Kelsea nods, knowing to let you speak before she says her piece.
“I know we’re friends, and that’s fine. But I just saw those girls and I saw the way they were with him and they looked so… and they had this like confidence and they just…” You take in a shaky breath, “I’m not them. I’m not going to be them.”
“Oh honey!” Kelsea comes off from her chair and crouches in front of you, her hands on your knees, “(Y/N) you don’t need to be them. Drew doesn’t want you to be them. Do you know that? I see the way he is with you, the way he talks about you, that’s not the way you talk about someone if you’re just friends. Those girls, the club, last night, they were coming up to him, he wanted to be with you. I know he did.”
You want to believe her. But even the mention of his name forces the thoughts of last night back into your head, cycling through them like snapshot images, each one a little clearer and stinging just a little more.
“I’ll be okay,” You reach one of your hands down to squeeze Kelsea’s, “It was just one night. It’s okay.”
She furrows her brows and rubs her thumb over your knee, “Alright, I’m going to go and wake Chase up before he’s late for his press stuff.”
Kelsea disappears back inside and you sip down the rest of your coffee, drawing your legs up to your chest and trying to breathe out the tightness between your lungs, blinking away the blur of tears from your eyes.

It’s a day later when you realise you can only go so long avoiding Drew - perhaps less time than you’d originally thought that it would take. He had texted you a bunch yesterday, originally a good morning text, then turning into a couple of videos he thought were funny, ending the video string with one about when ‘the one person you speak to doesn’t reply’. By the night, he sent you one message saying that he was starting to get worried now that you hadn’t replied, and that he just wanted to check if you were okay. Today, he had called you in the morning and then followed up from his other text saying he was probably just being stupid but he wanted to make sure you were good. You reply with a simple;
Just been busy, got studio sessions coming up. Speak soon
You debate sending a heart at the end but delete it before pressing send. He reads it straight away and responds;
Fuck me I’m just glad you’re alive, felt weird going more than a day without speaking to you!! Hope your studio sessions go well, superstar <;3
You like the message and lock your phone, the same tightness settling on your chest as you’d had at the club, as you’d had yesterday morning. Your breath turns shaky again and you try to ignore it.
The next few days go relatively the same - Drew texts you in the morning, sends you something that reminds you of him or tells you to listen to a song that he’s found. You reply a few hours later with a short response or just react to the message, not wanting conversations to carry on like they normally do.
Another couple of days in, he calls you as you’re leaving the gym and you wait for it to go to voicemail, listening to it as soon as the notification comes through.
“Hey, superstar. I wasn’t sure if I’d get through to you, but I’m guessing you’re busy, um, just calling to say… well, I don’t know what I’m calling to say. Just that I miss you, I mean it’s only been a few days but… I don’t know. Feels weird not talking to you, so call me when you get the chance, let’s make plans or something. Alright, I’ll leave you to… well, I don’t know what you’re doing, which is weird, it feels like I always know what’s going on with you… um … whatever, call me back, or don’t if you don’t want to, I don’t know I-“
It cuts off after that and you’re just met with the monotone voice of your voicemail asking if you want to repeat the message. You listen to it once, twice again, finding comfort in the sound of his voice for those digital seconds.
Your finger hovers over his contact as you think of calling him back but you shift it to the text button instead.
hey! sorry i didn’t get to my phone in time - just been busy with the new album so the days are just going too fast. not sure when i’ll be free, i’m sorry
He reads it instantly and the elipsis bubble appears to say he is typing, disappearing and then reappearing a couple of times.
i told you not to forget me when you were famous (y/l/n). I miss you!!!!
You bite your bottom lip to stop yourself from crying at the words, reluctant to try to come up with any response that would feel fitting.
speak soon !!
~~~
It’s another week later when Kelsea invites you over for dinner, one of those sort of ‘no isn’t an option’ invites. You turn up with a bottle of wine and she wraps you in a bear hug when she sees you, a hand on your shoulder before she lets you come into the apartment.
“What’s going on?” You frown, looking at the slightly panicked expression on her face.
“Okay, don’t be mad,” She winces, “But Chase didn’t realise you were coming tonight and Drew’s here before they go out for dinner with the cast. He’s been asking about you.”
You shrug your shoulders, shake your head, “No, it’s okay, don’t worry. We’re friends, it’s fine.”
She furrows her brows a little, “Are you sure?”
“Of course!” You force a smile that you’re certain is believable enough and she must believe you, leading the way into the kitchen where there’s already a dinner cooking on the stove.
“Hey (Y/N)!” Chase gets up as you walk in, hugging you quickly.
You hug him back and, over his shoulder, spot the sight of Drew standing from his chair at the kitchen island.
“Hey stranger!” He raises his brows, “Where’ve you been?”
“Just a busy couple of weeks,” You nod, tightening your grip around the bottle of wine, “Been a bit M.I.A I guess.”
“Yeah, just a little,” He smiles softly, his eyes seeming to yearn for a little piece of you to come back to him, “Well it’s good to see you.”
You clear your throat, “You too.”
You try not to notice the way he watches you as you cross the kitchen, taking your jacket off and finding a bottle opener in the drawer to open the wine. You avoid eye contact when he watches your move to grab a glass from the shelf, pouring a portion of the liquid into the glass and swirling it around.
When you take a seat at the island, it’s the one furthest away from him. And when his eyes find yours then, it’s like they’re full of worry for his defeat - like this had just confirmed every thought that had been going through his head for the past week and a half. You, once again, find yourself trying to ignore the tightness in your chest, the way it restricts your breath as if he’s pulled it into him. Your eyes turn away from him as soon as you can force yourself to.
You’re just leaving Kelsea’s that night when you see the call come through. You’re almost a full bottle of wine in and it’s late as you’re descending the elevator to get to your Uber.
Your phone buzzes and your lowered inhibitions are the only reason you answer.
“Hello?”
“(Y/N),” His voice sounds slightly breathless on the other end of the phone, “You answered.”
“What’s happening Rafe?”
“Um…” He clears his throat and it crackles down the phone line, “Chase just said that Kelsea texted saying you were heading home. I figured you’d be getting a taxi.”
“I am,” You return, “I’m going down to it now.”
“I always call you when you’re getting a taxi.”
You swallow the lump in your throat, “No, you don’t need to-“
“I always do (Y/N). We’ve known each other for seven months, and I always call when you’re in the taxi, why wouldn’t I?”
“Have you been drinking, Drew?”
“Have you?”
Both of you are silent.
“Is that the only reason you answered?” He asks and you’re sure you can hear a shake in the words.
You don’t respond.
“What’s going on, (Y/N)?” There’s definitely a shake now, somewhere close to a tremble, “Why does it feel like I’m losing you?”
“You’re not losing me I’ve just been b-“
“Don’t say you’ve been busy,” He quips, “You’re always busy, but you always make time. This isn’t that, this is different.”
You’re silent.
“Answer me (Y/N),” He doesn’t raise his voice, but the tension in his words seems heightened, harsher.
“Are you free tomorrow?”
“I’m free now,” He responds, “I’ll be at yours in half an hour.”
It might be the remaining buzz of alcohol in your system, or the sight of your taxi driver turning into the road, your way home, to Drew, but you don’t think twice when you say;
“Okay.”
~~~
A painfully slow thirty minutes later, Drew buzzes your front door to come up to your flat. He lets himself in and you’re sat waiting as if counting the seconds of him ascending in the elevator. You’ve drank a bottle of water by now and the wait has seemed to sober you up quicker than usual. And then there’s a knock at your apartment door and you’re sure your heart stops as you open it.
He’s wearing a shirt that’s unbuttoned at the top, wrinkled around the bottom from where it had been tucked in but wasn’t anymore. He looks disheveled as if he’d rushed to get here before the minutes caught up with him, or perhaps before you changed your mind.
“Hi,”
“Hi,” He breathes out, “You look beautiful.”
You were wearing a baggy t-shirt that hung around your thighs, a pair of gym shorts underneath, your hair pulled back from your face in a bun with strands seeming to fall out on their own accord, no makeup on your face but your cheeks rosy from the wine in your system.
“Do you want to come in?”
He steps through your front door and you step past him to close it. Drew doesn’t make any effort to move further and neither do you. He’s just stood in your hallway looking at you and you’re stood with your back a few feet from the front door, somewhat feeling isolated now you knew he wasn’t leaving.
“What’s going on (Y/N)?” His shoulders drop as if he just needed to get the words off of his chest, a relief slipping over his features to finally say the words to your face.
“I-“ You take in a deep breath, “I just feel like things are weird between us.”
“They’re weird, yeah,” He scoffs, “They’re weird because you’ve been avoiding me.”
Drew laughs then and you find yourself letting out a little laugh too, the two of you gripping onto the pieces of normality that still remained.
“Did something happen at that party? Because I’ve been wracking my brain and that’s the last night I can remember where it felt like things were normal. And since then I’ve barely seen you. Did something happen? Did I do something? Did I say something?”
You shake your head and wrap your arms around yourself as if you’re cowering away from the idea of having to admit to anything.
“(Y/N)…”
“I hated it-“ You stop yourself, letting your thoughts gather, “We were at that party and I hated it. These girls were flocking to you and flirting with you and chatting to you and all I could think about was how much I hated it. Which is stupid because I have no reason to feel like that but I couldn’t help it and then I hated that I felt like that because I-“
“(Y/N), breathe,” Drew steps towards you, his hand reaching out and lacing with yours.
The contact seems to ground you, his eyes burning into your skin but somehow seeming to calm the raging fire of your nerves.
“I know I have no reason to be jealous, I know that, but I just,” You shake your head, “I was jealous.”
“You were jealous,” Drew returns, the corners of his mouth upturning with the slightest glimpse of brightness on his features.
“It’s stupid because I know we’re just friends and I know that I don’t want to lose that and-“
“You were jealous,” He’s really fighting back a smile now, but it seems to fight harder against him as his lips stretch into a grin.
You look up at him then, your eyes locking with his, you’re sure you forget how to breathe for just a second.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” His brows furrow for a second but he doesn’t seem to lose the joy on his face.
“I just-“ You look down again, “I didn’t want things to be weird between us, or for you to lie and say that you felt the same way.”
Drew moves his free hand up and presses a thumb underneath your chin, his index finger bending around the front to push your chin upwards, guiding your eyes towards him, guiding you back to him. His eyes are sincere, flicking between either of yours.
“It wouldn’t be a lie.”
You open your mouth and close it again, words catching on your tongue as you’re sure your whole body is going to freeze in this exact spot. Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad thing - to stay in this moment.
“But maybe next time you’re feeling jealous, just tell me. Does that sound good to you?” He dips his head just slightly, his fingers not moving from around your chin.
You laugh lightly and nod your head, “That sounds good.”
He chuckles and moves his hand around to cup your cheek, his thumb rubbing over the skin, “And those girls? They’re not you.”
You feel your cheeks heat under his touch, his gaze, his words, “Not me?”
Drew shakes his head, “I don’t think anyone could come close,” He hums, dropping his head closer to you until his lips are just an inch from you, breath hot over your features.
In just a second, his lips press to yours, softly as if savouring the feeling of the first time. His hand moves from yours to instead drop to your hip, guiding you backwards until your back is flush against the door. With the contact, he deepens his kiss against your lips, his fingers slipping back into your hair.
When he pulls away, you’re both a little breathless against each other.
“God I’ve waited so long to do that,” He mumbles, pressing his forehead against yours, a smile crawling onto his lips.
“Next time please don’t wait so long,” You laugh, your arms moving to link your hands behind his neck.
“I don’t plan on it,” Drew smirks, dipping his head once again to kiss you, more sure of himself than before.
And, then, you’re sure. You’d stay locked in this moment if you could.

When Love Turns To Tolerance
Pairing: Drew Starkey x Reader
Warnings:  N/A
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 1.0K
Summary: There used to be love between Y/N and Drew, but now, she only sees the ghost of their love when she is around him.
A/N: This is inspired by "Tolerate It" by Taylor Swift
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Y/N has always seen Drew in colour. The vibrant blue hues of his iris, the slight tan of his skin from days in the sun when he is surfing and the golden glow of his hair from the light coming into the room. She would use her best watercolours for her mental portrait of him. And he used to do the same for her. She could see his love for her while the image of her was reflected in his eyes. Now, she can tell all he sees is black and white when he looks at her. It’s like all the cones in his eyes have transformed into rods, making him see her in a duller way. He thinks she doesn’t notice his small changes, but she does because he is her mural and she knows every detail of it.
Her eyes flutter open to see his eyes still closed. The soft rise and fall of his chest captivates her. She used to like watching him sleep. The serenity of knowing that the person she loves is peacefully asleep in his dream. Now, she loves it. It’s the only time when she can’t see the plain tolerance in his eyes and lets herself pretend that they are still what they used to be. Eventually, his eyes widen and he gets up out of bed. He doesn’t stay beside her in bed for just a few more minutes. He doesn’t kiss her good morning. He doesn’t chuckle when he notices her gaze already on him. He just rolls out of bed and heads to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
——
They finished eating breakfast together. He washes the dishes while she is polishing their plates until they sparkle with the towel. She hums the melody of “For The First Time” by Mac DeMarco, hoping he would sing along with her. Chores used to be filled with songs and laughter. They would make games out of who could match their pile of socks faster or who could slide across the freshly mopped floor the farthest. She looks at him and is met with a blank stare. His hands soaking in the water as he removes the sods from the plate. She hates the silence, but it seems every attempt she makes at breaking it, Drew isn’t interested in it.
——
She returns from the store and finds Drew on the couch, reading Dune. He doesn’t look up from his book. He hasn’t for about a month. Every time she walks into the room she hopes he will though. She wants him to look up at him with the gleam in his and the soft smile she loves so much. She misses it. But when he doesn’t do it this time, something in her just snaps. She doesn’t move from where she is standing, “When did your love turn to tolerance?” He looks up from his book. His eyebrows knit together in confusion but mostly annoyance at being interrupted. “Wh-what are you talking about?” he questions, putting his book down to give her his full attention for probably the first time in months. She feels herself start to cry, “When did you first look at me and saw just the woman you tolerated instead of the woman you love? Or please, tell me that I misunderstood. Tell me that it is all in my head.” Every single thing she has been keeping inside of her until now is finally coming out.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” he tries to play dumb. Like her, he is in denial of the changes he felt. He knows he doesn’t feel the same way about her, but she is a routine to him. He is scared to lose something familiar. They are both too scared to admit the truth: he fell out of love with her a long time ago and she is sick of living in this limbo. She shakes her head, “Just be honest with me, please. Because I know something has changed.” “I honestly don’t know,” he explains. “I don’t think it just turned off like a light switch. I think I just slowly started to stop believing you were the one for me.” She knew it was coming, yet it still felt like a dagger to her back.
“Was it something I did?”
He shakes his head, not being able to find words to describe his feelings, “No, it wasn’t anything about you or what you did. It was more of a realization. I realized the stuff I thought I wanted in a relationship wasn’t what I wanted.” She takes a second to process his words and feels as though her heart is being squeezed. “Right and were you ever going to tell me? Because we both know it is obvious you don’t love me anymore,” she questions, running her fingers through her hair. He shrugs, “Y/N, I never really thought about it until this conversation. I felt the change but never took the time to examine it. I didn’t want to believe that something was different for me.” “Okay, well what are we going to do now that we are talking about it?” she provokes.
“I don’t know. Maybe nothing needs to change? Maybe this is just a passing feeling?”
“Drew, you may be able to live with your tolerance forever. But I can’t keep being a footnote in your thoughts when you are the content of my whole story.”
“You’re right. You deserve better than someone who can’t love you with the same ferocity.”
“So this is it? We aren’t going to fight any harder for us?”
“I guess we aren’t. For what it’s worth, Y/N, I really did love you. It just wasn’t the type of love that was permanent.”
And then he leaves in a heartbeat. She is left in tears, watching as the man who was her sky and heart leaves her behind. She knows she is the one to bring it upon them. They probably could’ve gone on for months maybe years in denial, but she knows that when love turns to tolerance, she can’t keep letting her love go uncelebrated. So she had to be the one who broke down the column and brought their temple down to ruins.

Not A Drop

Here is the one shot for my first giveaway winner @monluciferly! Enjoy!
Lucifer x Sinner reader
Word Count: 2.4k
CW: Trauma, War, Anxiety, Fluff, Fear, Depictions of Violence
The night before the extermination had finally come, and everyone that would be involved in the next day’s battle against Heaven was at the hotel celebrating together. Lucifer sat at the bar and looked around the room at all of the faces of sinners he had barely gotten to know, Rosie’s band of cannibals, the residents of the hotel, his daughter Charlie and her girlfriend Vaggie, and finally, you.
Lucifer heaved a great sigh as he looked at you, partly out of love and partly out of fear. You had arrived at the hotel not long before Lucifer had his first visit to the hotel when he had reconnected with Charlie. He had started to get to know everyone at the hotel after that, but something about you really drew his attention.
You treated him like a normal person, you treated him with respect but didn’t trip over his royal status. You weren’t afraid of him either, you just accepted him as he was. You had the patience of a saint, yet somehow you ended up here, in Hell. Neither of you knew why you had ended up here, but you had accepted it with grace, making statements of how if you were there it must have been for a reason, and you had come to the hotel to help others and try your own hand at redemption.
He clenched his fist thinking of it. How could fate be so unfair, that an angel like you would end up here instead of in Heaven where you belonged? Away for all of this, blind to the idea of war. Away from him and all the trouble he was. But no, instead you were here to be part of the light that kept him going, and being so irritatingly stubborn at your decision to take part in the war, no matter how hard he pleaded for you to stay out of it. To stay at his manor and be protected from the angels.
You two had only confessed your blossoming feelings for each other the night before, and though it made Lucifer want you out of the war completely, it had only deepened your resolve to fight. If you two loved each other, you would fight to protect anything he loved and held dear, especially Charlie. He loved and hated that. He just wished you could understand how he wanted that protection for you too. That if he had it his way, that he would be the only one fighting. This was the first time he had started developing feelings for anyone since Lilith, and he did not want that to slip away in an instant.
You excused yourself from your conversation with Vaggie and Charlie to walk over to Lucifer. He watched breathlessly as you walked towards him. Golly, you were beautiful. You stopped just short of him.
“You plan on just staring at me longingly across the room all night?” You ask with a cheeky smile.
Lucifer sighed “Maybe… just want to savor this, in case…”
You tipped his chin up to meet your gaze, “Oh stop it, you act like I am so fragile,” you chuckle, “I’ll be fine. I’m a tough girl, I tie my own sandals and everything.” You gave him a soft, playful punch to the arm.
He gave a weak laugh and looked away for a moment, and then back to you, studying your face.
“There is really nothing I can say to change your mind, is there?”
You shook your head, “Nope! I need to do this. I already ran from one fight, I’m not running from this one.”
Lucifer sighed with defeat, remembering the story of what had caused your death in the first place. A few weeks ago, you had told Lucifer the story of how you had been caught in a street fight with your brother and his friend. You weren’t involved in any of the gangs in your area, but they still ran the streets where you lived, and when they happened you needed to defend yourself or run. Half decisions were a death sentence. Your brother and his friend had guns on them, they offered you another, but you were scared and refused. Your brother had covered you while you ran, and he ended up getting killed, you stopped and turned to see him fall to the ground instead of continuing to run, and that is when the next bullet came for you.
Lucifer knew that you believed this was your second chance to redeem yourself. That something like this might be what gets you into Heaven, or at least, atone for what happened that night. He looked down at your angelic weapon of choice, a sword where you had written your brother’s name on the inside of the hilt. He looked up at you and cupped your check, giving you a soft smile.
“Alright, can I at least steal you away for the rest of the night?” He said holding out his other hand. You smiled and nodded, taking his hand. You both said goodbye to the rest of the hotel crew before teleporting of to Lucifer’s room to snuggle the night away. At least with you by his side he was likely to get some sleep that night.
———————————————————————————————
The next morning, you all were outside of the hotel, weapons prepped for battle, ready for the onslaught of angelic exorcists. Lucifer stayed out of sight, also prepped and ready, but only for if the right combination of things happened that would allow him to join the battle. Due to the deal with Heaven, he was not able to intervene unless a hellborn was attacked, which meant either Charlie or her guardian’s Razzle and Dazzle. If you were attacked, Lucifer would be unable to aid you unless the first requirement was already fulfilled to be able to enter battle.
He was so conflicted on how he wanted this all to play out. He hoped his presence was not needed at all, but he wished he could be by both Charlie’s and your side from the jump. But he needed to follow the rules, which drove him crazy.
Soon the portal from heaven opened, and an army of angels started to pour out into the red skies of hell, led by Adam, the first man himself. Lucifer felt his blood boil just looking at him, but he held back. He watched as the beginnings of the battle started to unfold, starting off with Alastor creating a magical barrier that separated the hotel from half of the angels, giving those on the ground more of a chance to pick off the few angels that had been trapped inside. Lucifer hated to admit it, but it was a good strategy.
Lucifer continued to remain at a distance, watching the battle is it unfolded. Inside of the magical dome, you and the others were beginning to take down the angels that have been trapped inside with you. Feeling your sword cut through the air, and send the golden blood of angels splattering to the ground made you feel proud. You weren’t a fan of violence, but you were proud to be doing your part to protect the hotel. Hearing Charlie’s comments of hope also made you smile.
You heard a loud crack, and you looked up to see Alastor’s dome was smashed apart by Adam, and they began their fight up on the roof of the hotel. Without the barrier, the group started to have a lot harder time, keeping up with all of the angels, including you.
Lucifer’s anxiety was increasing as he watched the scene continue to unfold. Charlie seemed to be handling herself, especially with Vaggie at her side, but you were slowing down. He watched as Adam came down and started to attack everyone on the ground, then Pentious giving his life for everyone else. Charlie summoned more of her demonic power and called Razzle and Dazzle into their full form.
“That’s my girl,” Lucifer whispered to himself.
He then watched as Adam struck Razzle, and as if he were released from shackles that were holding him in place, he unfurled his wings and bolted for you right as an exorcists was about to plunge a sword into your shoulder, and he quickly zipped you off to the sidelines.
You wiggled and fought his hold “Lucifer?! Put me down! I need to fight!!”
“Ňø ŷøų ðøņ’ț!” He yelled in a demonic tone, horns out and eyes red. It made you stop, you had never seen him like this. He caught himself and his face returned to normal.
“I’m sorry… I…” he looked up and saw a cut on you face dripping red blood, mortal blood. He grabbed your hands, “I’m so thankful for everything you have done, for Charlie, for the hotel. The criteria has been met for me to be able to finish this off, and I plan to. I need you to stay up here.” He looked over your face, you opened your mouth to protest but he cut you off. “I could hurt them. I could kill all of them, but not you. If it was up to me,” he reached up to swipe his fingers along your check to heal the cut, “you’d never see a single drop of your own blood again.”
Your eyes welled with tears and you smiled, putting your hand atop his on your check and leaning in to softly kiss him on the lips. You broke the kiss and leaned your forehead against his.
“Ok, I’ll stand down. Now go get that son of a bitch, baby!”
Lucifer hugged you right and then jumped off with a smile and flew back over to the battlefield, plunging his fist straight into the side of Adam’s face as he loomed over Charlie atop the hotel roof. Adam went flying and Lucifer caught Charlie as she fell.
“Dad?” She looked up at him with a smile.
“Sorry I wasn’t able to be here sooner, sweetie,” Lucifer said as he set Charlie down.
Adam grunted as he dragged himself out of the rubble, “OK seriously? How many of you freaks am I going to have to fight?”
Lucifer rolled up his sleeves, and started to walk towards Adam, “Oh, I’m the only one that matters. You see you mess with my daughter, and now, I am going to fuck you!”
The entire battlefield went silent with confusion for a second.
Charlie leaned in closer to her father and whispered “It’s “fuck you up”, Dad.”
“Wait, what did I say-“
Lucifer was cut off by Adam lunging at him, and then flying into a wall together. Lucifer quickly brushed himself off and took the fight to the skies. He started teasing Adam as he dodged Adams attacks like they were nothing. Eventually, Adam got fed up and sent a blast of angelic light through the center of the hotel sending it to crumble into pieces, Charlie falling along with it. Luckily, in the last second Lucifer was able to scoop up Charlie again.
“I got ya,” he smiled down at her.
She smiled back up again before seeing Adam fly down at them, “Dad, look out!” They turned together worked to grab Adam and send him flying into the rubble of the hotel below.
Adam landed hard into the ground, breaking off the remainder of his mask, and showing his human face. Lucifer flew down with Charlie in one arm, his full demon form out on display, all six of his wings flapping angrily, fire spitting from his mouth.
“Yøů çømę äț mē ąñð mŷ ðæűğħțěř?! Ðøń’ț føřġęț, ÿøū’řę ïn MŸ ħøůşę, bįțçħ!” He says in a demonic voice, setting down Charlie and starting to beat Adam to a pulp on the ground. He is about to strike Adam with a blow of fire before Charlie stops him.
“Whoa, whoa, Dad! He’s had enough.” Lucifer looks up at Charlie and then back down at the mangled first man below him. He nods and gets up “How’s is mercy taste, you little bitch?”
“No,” Adam says trying to get up, he was now surrounded by the rest of the hotel crew, “You don’t get to end this. I am Adam! I am the fucking man! And you are just some clown or somethin’! I started everything on earth, all of mankind came from these fucking nuts! You all should be worshiping me, you ungrateful disgusting, fucking losers!”
At that point a knife skewered through Adam’s chest from the back, his eyes went wide, and his mouth hung a gape, before he to forward, revealing Niffty holding onto the opposite end of the knife.
Everyone stared at her in disbelief.
“Niffty?!” Charlie shouted.
Niffty looked down, smiled, and continued to stab Adam’s lifeless body, sending more golden blood spilling across the ground.
Lute, Adam’s second in command screamed and flew over to his lifeless body. Lucifer walked up to her and loomed over her, she looked up at his smirk.
“Now, take your little friends, and ĞØ ĦØMĘ! Please,” He said with a smile.
Lute growled and reluctantly whistled for the other angels, opened the portal back to Heaven, and they all flew away.
The rest of you looked around the war-torn grounds of where the Hazbin Hotel once stood, and collectively breathed a sigh of relief and sadness. Lucifer went to go give Charlie a long and reassuring hug before flying back over to you.
You were so happy and relieved to see him fly towards you, you didn’t even wait for him to get all the way to you before, jumping up and into his arms, where he pulled you in tightly and spun you around in the air.
“You did it! You won!” You cheered as your eyes filled with tears, then you looked down at the remains of the hotel.
“No, we won, my love,” he then dipped you mid air and gave you a long passionate kiss. You sighed and held him as closely as you could before he broke the kiss.
“Now! I don’t know about you, but I think we have a hotel to rebuild,” he said looking into your eyes.
You smiled brightly at him, “Let’s do this!”

[Y/N] hates parties and has never been a partier. However, she loves her boyfriend of 4 years Drew, so she allowed him to drag her to the club. It was October and thus all the bars and clubs had themed party nights, in hopes of throwing their sales through the roof. Tonight's theme was Dracula, so she stood in her cropped white shirt matched with her cherry-printed shirt and a cream-colored cardigan to cover her arms, but a few small tattoos were peeking through the material. Harry clocked [Y/N] the moment she stepped in the door, sensing her discomfort and her awkwardness. Her boyfriend had ditched her a few hours ago now, running off with some brunette to the bathrooms and then slipping out when [Y/N] was at the bar. Harry didn’t take his eyes off the pretty girl as he watched her get slightly sloshed, stumbling around the bar looking for her partner. His disgust for a man he’d never met grew as it dawned on her that she had been left alone, he could sense her discomfort as she approached the bar again. He decided this was his chance, if he had one at all, to introduce himself to the pretty girl and hopefully get her home safely because he had this feeling that he just couldn’t shake. He was sure she probably wasn't in danger, but he’d rather be safe than sorry. He felt this magnetic pull towards the other, which was a big deal considering he’d rather be caught dead than hang around with another girl after what happened with the other one. She looked scared and fragile. He had to swoop in before some creep did.
“Can I get another whiskey neat, and whatever this beauty is having?” Harry called out to the bartender. He noticed that [Y/N] stood there for nearly five minutes, not even bothering to call out to the busy bartender, probably hoping he’d come over on his own accord. Harry’s assumption was correct, she was waiting for the bartender to recognize that she was there and that her drink was empty. She noticed around an hour ago that she had been ditched, making a mental note to break up with Drew the next day. This wasn't the first time she had been ditched, nor the first time she witnessed him leave the bar with another woman, she was just non-confrontational and rather soft-spoken, so she often walked all over. She smelled him before she could even hear the British-laced voice call out and instantly grabbed the bartender's attention, who came rushing over with a scared look on his face. The smell of vanilla and lavender invaded her senses, and she could feel his warmth radiating off him. “Uh.. Vodka Redbull with Cherry Grenadine please.” She spoke loud enough to be heard, but not outside her little bubble of, the bartender and the mystery man who seemed to pique her interest right away. Still, she was wrestling in her head on whether she should break it off. Drew was always a safe option to her, her parents loved him, and honestly? He kept the weirdos at bay. She looked over at the mystery man next to her, taking in the way his messy curls were perfectly swept and styled, the tattoos littering his skin and how his jawline was sharp honestly could probably cut something with how intense it looked. Her eyes trailed up and was met with his piercing green eyes and a small smirk plastered on his face. He let her ogle, not wanting to disturb her as she eye fucked him in the bar, hearing her breath hitch at the tattoos and hearing her heartbeat pick up while she took him in. He felt the need to protect her while she felt safe and intimidated but with that look on his face, how could you not? Harry didn’t want to overwhelm her, letting her do her own thing until he watched her as she watched her boyfriend leave the club with someone else. He was upset with him as he realized that this pretty thing was left alone in a dingy club, where people wore their best vampire outfits and preyed on naive people. It disgusted him really, and he was only there because his friend Niall insisted he get back out there and that he couldn’t mourn Mia forever. Harry disagreed, he had nothing but time and could mourn Mia forever. Yet, here he was, Mia long forgotten in his mind as his eyes swept over [Y/N]’s features. “My name’s Harry, what's yours?” He spoke first, wanting the awkward tension to disappear as quickly as possible.
“[Y/N]..” She replied softly.
She wasn’t sure if he could hear her and was surprised when Harry responded, he must’ve had really good hearing because the music was blasting and she was never able to be heard, which is why she stayed silent during these nights. Harry kept the conversation flowing, which [Y/N] was thankful for. She wasn’t great at small talk and often avoided it. He learned a lot about her, they talked for an hour and [Y/N] forgot how Drew left with someone else. Her mind was just focused on Harry and the way his tattooed hand curled around his whiskey neat. She was starting to wonder what it’d look like wrapped around her throat. Though, she’d keep those thoughts to herself. She was still a taken woman. Harry offered to pay and did pay, as she was fumbling through her bag for her wallet and she couldn’t. She offered to pay him back via Venmo or Cashapp but Harry declined, not caring about the money aspect. She had mentioned taking an Uber home, and Harry thought this was his opportunity. “Uh, I can always take you home. I’ve only had a few drinks and it’s worn off now.” Harry wanted her to get home safely because he had this feeling creeping up on him that something was watching them and he wanted to make sure she wasn’t harmed. She did stop drinking around 30 minutes ago, only drinking water because Uber’s always freaked her out and she wanted to be somewhat aware of her surroundings, yet here was this handsome man offering her a ride. She accepted the ride and that’s how she ended up in his blacked-out SUV, light music playing in the background at a tolerable volume. Her strawberry-scented perfume filled the car and was soaked into his seats, he could hear her blood pumping through her veins and every bone in his body wanted to take her back to his place and worship her. He had been so filled with rage still that Drew left her alone. Thankfully, she had given him her number shortly into the conversation. Which was a shock to both of them, because she didn’t seem like the type to do that. However, [Y/N], was just taken by this fascinating human being and how his attention was solely on her. She felt this guy wasn’t a weirdo, giving her address and number over with ease and Harry felt honored that [Y/N] seemed to trust him.
He walked her to her door, kissing her cheek, slightly terrified that it was too much but a blush rose to her lips and he knew deep down it was okay.
══════•°•♡•°•══════
The next morning, [Y/N] woke with a pounding in her head and her memory wasn’t all there, but it was still there. She checked her phone, disappointed that Drew hadn’t even bothered to text or call her, which she half expected. She wanted to end it, but she didn’t want to be a bother. She’d wait until he texted her, her mind was drifting to Harry and she didn’t feel guilty one bit.
After breakfast, a massive bottle of water, and some painkillers, the dull ache in her head had slowed to a halt, and she felt oddly confident. The kiss on her cheek still lingered and she’d be lying if she said she didn’t touch herself last night and wished it was him instead. She was thankful he didn’t come on too strong and genuinely seemed interested in her. If you could gather that from a couple-hour conversation in a dingy nightclub over a few drinks. Over her being ditched which was embarrassing, to say the least. Her phone pinged and she hoped it was Harry, only to be met with Drew asking to meet and talk, she declined and instead texted Harry. She didn’t want to hear any more excuses from Drew, she knew he cheated and that was enough to make up her mind. Sure, there had been rumors but she never believed something without seeing it with her own eyes first. To: Harry
Hey! Thank you again for the drink and for driving me home. I appreciate it, you’re right Ubers are weird. Are you busy later today?”
She wasn’t sure what took over her, never would she be the one to ask someone else out, yet here she is. Asking a random stranger out over text, while deciding how to break up with her boyfriend of four years. From: Harry Hey, I made it home thank you. I hope you dumped that loser, by the way, I hope your hangover isn’t too bad. I’m actually at the shop today, I own a mechanic shop. Did you want to stop by? He was surprised by her boldness but rather excited at the same time. She wanted to see him, on her own accord. To: Harry Getting ready to break up with him now, and then I can swing by if you have an address. She couldn’t help but smile as she texted Drew back, asking him to meet up at their favorite cafe. She didn’t tell Drew that she was going to be breaking it off, because what he had done and had been doing was unacceptable.
Breaking it off with Drew took an hour too long. She listened as he pleaded with her and swore they didn’t do anything, but she knew better. After Drew failed to convince [Y/N], he quickly left the cafe, with tear-stained cheeks and bloodshot eyes. Which she knew he would use to make her the villain, despite the fact that he was the one who cheated. She checked her phone, a smile spreading on her cheeks when she noticed Harry sent over the address. When she stood, she went to get herself a Matcha for the go, remembering that Harry said he loved Matcha too. She noticed his chocolate brown curls standing in line, raising a brow she approached him and softly called out to him, “Harry?” She didn’t know where the confidence she had this morning went, but she envied him when he turned and looked revived, with a matcha in hand and cherry-stained lips. He looked like he had never even taken a sip of alcohol the day before.
“[Y/N]! Hey, fancy seeing you here. This cafe is just down the road from the shop. Come here often?” Harry took this opportunity to look over her. She was wearing a sage green cardigan, a black crop-top, and adorable cherry-printed jeans.
“Yeah.. I actually just got done uh breaking it off. I come here to study with friends and just relax.” Harry remembered that she was a college senior, already accepted into a master’s program. She was smart and he was enamored by her. He wanted to know all there was to know about this girl whom he only met a mere 13 hours before.
“Oh.. how did that go? The breakup?” He noticed her searching through her bag again for her card, noticing she ordered a matcha as well. He slipped his card into the machine instead, wanting to do something nice for her. “I’ll pay you back for that if you ever send me your Venmo.” She mumbled. Instead, he declined and offered to walk her back to her apartment. The shop wasn’t busy, and he was on lunch, so he could spare a few hours to spend with her. He had that gut feeling that she wasn’t safe again and he noticed the shift in the air when someone who looked familiar walked in, but he couldn’t place him.
It was a short walk, maybe 5 minutes, and the whole 5 minutes Y/N opened up about how the break up went. Before she knew it they were at her door and she was saying inviting him in. They talked for around an hour before Harry got a text from one of the mechanics saying he needed help. Harry didn’t want to leave and [Y/N] didn’t want him to. Reluctantly, he stood and walked to the door. She leaned up and kissed his cheek, wanting to give Harry something for what she deemed his troubles, despite Harry being more than willing to listen to her ramble all day if she gave him the chance. Harry promised to text her when he made it home, as she watched him walk back down the stairs and seemingly disappear from view. That’s when Harry’s phone pinged, his eyebrows stitching together in confusion. He just left Y/N, it couldn’t be her. He didn’t really give his number out to others. Only his close friends, all 3 of them, and his family. His face went stone cold as the hair on the back of his neck stood up, reading the sentence on the screen,
“This will end in blood, Styles. You better watch out for who you fuck around with. Would hate for something to happen.”
Harry looked around, he didn’t notice anything out of place. He didn’t recognize the number, but he got that gut feeling again, one he didn’t want to ignore.

In which another cat monster, just like Grim, appears on campus.
Afraid of being replaced, Grim clings to (Y/n) and goes out of his way to be nice.
Request by anon.
Tumblr media
Mirg.
That was the dreaded name of Grim's worst enemy and nemesis. And with reason, that was: Mirg and Grim were complete opposites. Unlike Grim, Mirg hated tuna and behaved like an angel. The only thing they had in common was their species: They were both cat monsters. Still, Mirg's fur was a pristine white, and his tail was fluffy — comparable to the wings of an angel. Oh and also, there was no fire in his ears...
Mirg had mysteriously appeared on campus just about a week ago. He had literally fallen from the sky and landed in your lap; luckily, neither of you were harmed, although you were very much worried for the mysterious white cat in your lap. Upon regaining consciousness, the cat monster was able to tell his name, but not how he had come here — why, he didn't know, either. One moment, he explained, he had been talking with his boss, some guy living in the sky, and the next, he was down here on campus.
Grim didn't understand what Mirg meant back then, and he still doesn't as of now. And he didn't really care to... with how he was busy preventing Mirg from stealing you from him.
Mirg with his rhetorical prowess. Mirg with his polite behaviour. Mirg with his deep and soothing voice. Mirg with his love to help others in need.
Grim despised him — especially since you seemed to adore him.
The worst thing was that you were tasked to look out for Mirg, per request of the headmaster, until he had found a way home for the cat monster. Following Crowley's logic, you were the most qualified person on campus to handle another cat monster. Much to Grim's dismay, you accepted easily, and now, Grim had to share his bed with you and Mirg, too.
But, not only his nights were thus ruined, but his days also. To him, it seemed like you preferred Mirg's company over his own, such as when he caught you two standing nearby the front door of the Ramshackle mansion, about to exit — without telling him whatsoever.
Grim was fuming as he sprinted down the staircase.
An excited smile graced your lips. "Oh! Mirg, today is Riddle's tea party, remember?" you exclaimed while fixing his blue tie, which you had made for him just a few days ago.
Mirg nodded along, his maw contorted into a gentle smile. Without a complaint, he let you fix his tie. "Of course, (Y/n). I've made pastries, although they will never match Mr. Clover's," he said and proudly held out the tablet with little heart-shaped, baked goods out to you. "Shall we be off, then?"
Just as the two of you were about to step foot outside the mansion, Grim arrived and yelled out, "Hey, where are you guys going?!" His lungs heaving up and down, he slowed down his pace and narrowed his eyes at you. "Especially without me... tsk."
"We are on our way to Mr. Rosehearts' afternoon gathering," Mirg answered politely and pointed to the platter with pastries in your hands.
You shot your fellow dorm member a strange look. "I didn't ask you to come with us because you hate these tea parties, and well, Ace and Deuce won't be there, either," you explained apologetically, especially when Grim turned away and crossed his arms, offended. A soft sigh escaped your lips. "You'll get bored and then cause a ruckus."
"I wanna come along, though!" Grim exclaimed childishly and trotted over to the two of you, even walking ahead out of the door already.
"Really?" You raised an eyebrow. "Why all out of a sudden?"
The way you worded your question drew an offended snort from the grey cat monster. "Hey, I have an eye for the fine things in life, too," he grumbled under his breath and rolled his eyes. "Mirg ain't special..." As the other cat monster walked past him, Grim tried to trip him up with his tail. Mirg, however elegantly jumped, practically flew, over it without an issue.
There was no arguing with his stubbornness, and so, you eventually relented. "Well, if you insist? Just promise that you'll behave."
"I'll behave, okay!" Grim cried out ecstatically. "I'll behave even better than Mirg!"
The cat monster in question simply tapped his paw against the watch on your wrist. "Now that this issue is settled, can we leave? Tardiness is not like me, my friends," he said calmly while adjusting his new bow.
Grim scoffed and bumped into him intentionally when you weren't looking. "We're not friends, Mirg..." he hissed under his breath before running after you, who had gone ahead already.
Mirg simply rolled his eyes while rubbing his shoulder. "How rude..."
°°°
"Hey, Trey! Pass me the tea," Grim muttered lazily.
You pursed your lips at how rude that had just sounded. "Grim?" The reprimanding glare you shot him made him wince in realisation.
"—please," he corrected himself. "Pass me the tea, please, dear Trey."
Amusement written all over his face, the third-year in question easily reached for the kettle of tea beside him and poured some of it into the cup in front of the grey cat monster. "There you go, Grim," he murmured, chuckling.
"See, (Y/n)?" Grim exclaimed proudly while carefully sipping on his tea. "I can behave if I want to!" A grin adorned his face as he grabbed the bowl with sugar cubes and practically dumped the whole content into his tea.
Nonetheless, you shot him an impressed smile. "I've never seen this side of yours before, Grim..."
Your little conversation died down into whispers when nearby, Riddle and Mirg became the dominant conversationists at the table.
"Well, Mr. Mirg, how else do you think you will stay here at Night Raven College?" Riddle asked curiously.
"Oh, the date of my departure is uncertain. The headmaster only promised me that he would look into the matter as soon as possible." Mirg shrugged, but he did briefly turn to you to shoot you a grateful smile. "Perhaps I will stay here for a little while. (Y/n)'s hospitality is excellent." Then, he bowed and clasped his hands together.
"No! Don't stay!" Grim interjected at once. "Don't you have somewhere else to be?"
Mirg let out a little sigh. "I do... but it seems like I don't have another choice but to remain here."
"Ah... we're stuck in the same boat," you murmured to yourself.
Luckily, Grim wasn't able to start another fight again by provoking Mirg, at least trying to do so and utterly failing because the latter had the patience of an angel.
The chaos was thwarted by none other than Cater. "Ehehe, Mirgie, your fur is so shiny!" he asked curiously. "How do you keep your white fur so clean?"
"I like to clean myself reguarly— oh, and (Y/n) bathed me yesterday, as well."
"Hey!" Grim gasped in horror and hurt. "You never bathe me, (Y/n)..."
"Because bathing you would engulf the entire bathroom in flames!"
Grim waved you off anyway, and rolled his eyes in disappointment. "...maybe, but still!" Then, he turned to Cater, who had by then pulled out his phone to snap selfies of him and the other cat monster. "Oi, and Cater, my fur is pristine and shiny and what not, too!" By then, Grim had risen to his hind legs and put his paws on his hips.
"Then get next to Mirgie so that I can snap a pic, Grimmie!" Cater cheered. "Oh, everyone loves adorable cat pictures..."
An awkward chuckle escaped your lips. "Not sure if it's adorable when Grim tries to claw Mirg's eyes out..."

“Fuck,” you groaned, slamming your forehead onto the desk in front of you. A few heads turned to look at you in the library, you cursed under your breath and looked up again after a moment. Adjusting the glasses askew on your face before looking at the paper on the desk. The paper before you was worn with erased pencil marks, slightly wrinkled. Art block was the worst, you’d rather be ten feet under than stuck with art block.
You sighed, it’s been months since your last project and even that was a fail. It didn't help that you only worked at a fucking minimum wage job, maybe you should've listened to your parents and became a doctor or something. It wasn't like it was always like this, no… art school was a breeze. You had hosted real galleries where people came to see your art, and now look at you. Moping around in a library, desperately trying to find something to draw.
After tapping your pencil against the table which by the way, earned many dirty looks, you scooted closer to the table. Picking up your old sketchbook and frantically flipping through it to find…. so many god damn drawings of, him. Your god forsaken ex boyfriend, but he was gorgeous.
You met him ironically enough in art class, way back in high school. He was there by choice, you were not. Yet everything about him was just so captivating that you couldn't help but not switch out of the class, thank god you didn't. You enjoyed the class more than you expected, painting being one of your favourite forms of art, oils being your preferred medium. You painted and sketched every moment of the day, not putting down that brush for one second. Your ex boyfriend was your inspiration, every detail on that stupid face was engraved in your mind like a marble statue. His beautiful plump lips and the beauty marks that scattered over his face being two of your favourite features.
Art was everything to you, and so was he. He was all you drew, he made life seem prettier and happier. But then he dumped you for some random chick he met in a bar, that was six months ago.
Since then you've had no motivation and no inspiration for your projects. Flowers no longer had their charm, abstracts looked dumb to you again, oils looked muddy. Nothing worked.
You picked up your pencil and started at the paper again, pushing your glasses up before hesitantly sketching out lines. Your mind wandered back to him, you still couldn’t believe it. After years of being together he’d just leave like that? Those years of pure, innocent love where you’d make breakfast with him, take baths together, even paint each other for fun. Date nights that were full of giggles and messily painting on each others skin, his fingertips grazing over your eyelids and nose as he sculpted you out of clay. He threw that all away for a woman he’s known for one night.
Your pencil moved furiously against the paper, scarring it like he scarred you. When you looked back down at it you noticed it was him, those hostile eyes from that night staring right through you. Those words of heartbreak echoing through your mind, words that came from lips that used to kiss you every morning. You huffed angrily, no matter how much you hated him, he always came back. He was always in your mind, plaguing your thoughts like venom. Slamming your pencil down you stood up, ripping the paper furiously.
Now there were whispers, people looked at you weirdly. After remembering your place in the world, you picked up your things and packed up quickly, aching to get back home to your bed. While in your haste, you dropped something. You already were in an irritable mood so you took a deep breath before causing a scene over a dropped item, crouching down to pick up just to notice it was the painting knife he had gifted you months before you broke up. The words ”To the love of my life…” engraved on it. After shoving the painting knife back into your bag angrily you quickly got back on your feet and headed towards the door, not before throwing half your sketches into the bin. As if you couldn’t get any more frustrated, someone bumped into you which caused you to whip around. Though no words came out of your mouth as you took in the sight of the person.
They were sickly pale, sweating profusely and trembling. Their eyes were bloodshot, matching the… bite wound on their forearm? They shook looking at you, mumbling a meek apology and pushing their sleeve down over their arm before walking away. Weird. Anyway.
You turned back around, must be some weird prank or something. Whatever, you were extremely tired and needed to get back to your apartment asap. As you left the library the humid August air hit you like a truck, not helping your heated mood at all. Grumbling to yourself you tried not to let it affect you, instead pushing your hair behind your shoulders, what a convenient day to forget your hair tie. Nothing was going your way, it was like the world was against you. A scream broke your thoughts, it came from somewhere ahead of you. Great, someone probably got mugged and now you were next. Just another thing to keep you moody.
A woman turned the corner, running towards you. You braced yourself for the mugging but to your surprise, it never came. The woman’s face was drained, it was as if she saw a ghost. She didn’t stop running, she was terrified and stuff was falling out of her purse but she didn’t even bother to pick them up. You watched as she ran past you without batting as eye, what is going on today? Shrugging, you picked up the stuff she dropped, finders keepers. Gum, tissues, tampons, condoms, and… her wallet. You almost jumped in joy, you could really use the money right now.
Finally out of your mood you practically skipped down the street, looking through the wallet and counting the cash. $10… $28… $48… $130… $135— oh wait that’s a Canadian $5 what the fuck— $140. One hundred forty fucking dollars in cash, that woman must’ve been loaded to carry this much cash. Well, now you carried it.
Another scream broke your daze, but this time it was closer. You looked up and saw another terrified woman running towards you, this time knocking into you which caused you to crash onto the floor, the cash scattering across the pavement. Back in your mood.
“What the fuck is your problem!?” You yelled, watching the woman continue running and not even look back. Is there a goddamn marathon you didn’t know about or what? You fiercely picked up the scattered cash, shoving them into your bag immediately before crossing your arms and continuing your walk back to your apartment. Fixing your glasses you saw a man get tackled to the ground by another man a street in front of you, was this happening to everyone???
Much to your horror you watched as the man on top mauled into the other’s neck, tearing through the skin and splattering blood everywhere. You froze, feeling your blood run cold at the sight. You watched as the man kept eating away at the now, dead person. The man’s head turned slightly to grab at more of the bloodied flesh, you now noticing the cloudy eyes and gray skin. This man was already dead, so how was he…
You snapped out of it, turning the other way to avoid whatever was happening. This had to be a sick joke. Your heart was beating in your ears, weaving through the back lanes to find a different path to your home. Hair stood at the back of your neck as your senses were now alert, if whatever that was is real, you had to be way more careful. It was quiet in the alley, calm. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. Stopping for a second to catch your breath and recollect your thoughts, bending over slightly and placing your hands on your knees.
“Jesus christ,” you muttered. You couldn’t get the visual out of your head, that man was murdered right in front of you. His eyes bulging out of his head when he couldn’t even scream for help, that… monster ripping his throat out and devouring him in broad daylight. You shook your head, running your fingers through your hair frantically as you tried to rid your brain of that image.
A low groaning filled your ears and before you could register it you were falling to the ground, a grunt escaping you as you quickly turned onto your back. One of those things were falling over you, your quick reflexes holding them up by their shoulders. You got a clear view of what they looked like, their eyes were clouded over, veins more visible under their pale skin, their lips and chin dribbling with blood. You grimaced, trying to scream but nothing came out, nothing but a flow of air. They were strong, jaw snapping closer and closer to you. If you didn’t do anything now you’d end up like that guy on that street. No fucking way you were going to die like that.
Struggling a little, you lifted your legs under them and kicked from their stomach. Throwing the thing off of you, grunting you scrambled to your feet. The thing quickly following, their leg twisted as they got up from the position you flung them in. Surely it would’ve hurt if it were you, but unlike you, they weren’t living. You opened your bag and shoved your hand in, cursing yourself in your head for shoving everything in there. You held out your other arm protectively while stepping backwards from the thing. The hand in your bag searched wildly for something to defend yourself with, something to kill with. Could you even kill them?
Your back hit the wall, panic filling your body as the thing got closer. Before it could get any closer you tucked your forearm under their chin to hold them back, a loud cry escaping you as you fought to hold them back. When you were starting to give up, the hand in your bag finally found something metal. Ripping it out you immediately swung at it with the item, sinking it into their head which was surprisingly easy. Adrenaline probably. The thing fell to the ground, dead again.
You let out a heavy sigh, sliding down the wall. You looked down at your hands, bloodied with what you could only hope wasn’t your own blood. You were shaking profusely, your breathing uneven. You closed your eyes, trying to steady your breathing as you pressed your knees to your chest, the heel of your palm placed on your forehead. You stayed like this for a moment, you don’t know how long. But once you were ready you let out one last shaky breath before opening your eyes again, and glancing down at the thing on the ground in front of you.
You almost laughed as you realized you used the painting knife to end the thing, but you didn’t. You silently reached over and pulled it out, swallowing as it made a gross squelch sound. Looking down at your painting knife which was now covered in its blood, you wiped it off on their shirt. Taking a closer look at the body and noticing a bite mark on their shoulder, much like the person in the library. Your lip quivered as you imagined what had happened to them, what might’ve happened to you if you stayed. There was a low pit in your stomach as you stood up, your mouth suddenly filling with saliva before hunching over and vomiting. Your eyes filled with tears just realizing how close to death you were, throwing up your lunch.
You coughed, wiping your mouth on your sleeve before shoving the painting knife back into your bag. You had to get home, now. Your feet moved quickly, not stopping for even a second. There were barely anyone on the streets and you wondered if your home was even safe. Stop, your feet stopped. Don’t think like that. With a heavy breath you took off again, walking even faster towards your apartment building. Please, please, please….
You jolted suddenly as your phone started ringing, you grabbed it but didn’t stop walking. Answering without even checking the caller ID.
“Hello?” You said almost too quietly, still shaken up from your encounter with the thing.
“(Y/N)?? (Y/N), are you okay!?” The anxious voice yelled, it was your older brother, Glenn. You almost cried in happiness, walking even faster now.
“Yes Glenn, yes I’m fine…” you mumbled into the phone, breathing a sigh of relief that your brother was alive. “What is going on?”
“God, I don’t know. All I know is people are dying and coming back to life and eating each other and dying and coming back to—”
“Yeah, yeah I get it!” you cut him off, “I almost—” you stopped, deciding not to tell him about your fight. He was anxious enough, he always was but you didn’t want to worry him even more.
“Almost what?? You didn’t get bit did you!?” He yelled which caused you to pull your phone away from your ear in discomfort.
“No I didn’t, stop yelling.” You replied irritated, you heard him sigh on the other end. Hearing distant voices in the background. “Where are you?”
“I was at work when I saw everything go down, I drove back to the pizza place immediately.” He said more calmer, “but we’re gonna move out soon.”
You furrowed your brows in confusion, “wait why? Isn’t it safe there? Why not wait for help?”
“You didn’t hear? I thought you were always on your phone,” you scoffed in annoyance at his probe. “They’re setting up camps, courtesy of the military I think.”
You chest filled with hope, you were going to be safe. “Oh thank god, okay wait I’m going back to my place to grab some things. Where is the camp?”
When Glenn responded his end was filled with feedback, static. “It’s gonna. Arou— Ta—”
“Glenn?? You’re… you’re cutting off.” You said nervously, nearing your apartment.
“A— Yo— I’m—” And the call failed.
Dread filled your body once again, now you really were going to cry. You shakily walked through the apartment building, keeping guard for potential things around. Opting for the stairs, you walked swiftly up them. Out of breath by the time you reached your room, fortunately there was nothing to stop you.
Once you got in you immediately dropped everything, locking the door and collapsing to the floor. Tears filled your eyes once more and you let some of them escape and trickle down your cheeks, you were scared. Scared of those things roaming around, they could kill, you’ve seen it. You removed your glasses momentarily to wipe your face. You shook your head you took a deep breath and stood up, you had to pack and leave immediately. You didn’t know where you were going but you had to leave, you had to find Glenn.
Putting your glasses back on, you crawled over and rummaged through your closet carelessly, trying to find a backpack that was big enough to carry all your necessities. Your apartment was already a mess so you didn’t bother being slow and careful right now, which might have been a bad idea as you snagged your finger on a stray box cutter.
“Shit,” you muttered while pulling your hand back, a cut dragged along your index finger. You rushed over to the sink, washing it quickly before throwing a bandage over the cut. While doing so you heard a police siren drive by, the sound dying off as it drove farther and farther away. You sighed before returning to the closet, grabbing a big enough backpack and shoving as much clothes you could get while also leaving room for extra things.
You stood up and looked around your small apartment, your bed looked so inviting. You were exhausted beyond help, your body aching with the need to rest. I shouldn’t. You thought and continued scrambling for items to take with you, the amount of scattered pages of sketches filled the space that was your floor. Your heart broke at the thought of leaving your things behind but you knew it’d be useless to take with you, but you couldn’t take nothing.
You grabbed a few pencils and brushes, along with a small paint palette and placed them carefully into your bag, an empty sketchbook joining them. While searching you opened your desk drawer, three daggers which you made in a welding class a couple years ago. They were sturdy and well sharp enough, thank god you were good at making things. You took them and put them into a sheath to prevent stabbing yourself. You grabbed a few more things like a lighter, some bandaids, and batteries. You frowned at the lack of supplies you had on hand, but you tried to convince yourself that you’d be taken care of at the camps.
You moved over to your small kitchen and grabbed a water bottle which you filled, also grabbing a couple snacks that would keep you full for a few days at best. You heard a few distant screams outside, some screams of pain which caused you to wince. The sudden thought of living in an apocalypse dawned over you, a feeling of dread rushing through you. You couldn’t shake the feeling off but you chose to ignore it. You did not want to go into a panic right now, you had to have a clear and positive mind if you wanted to live.
You pulled your bag over your shoulders and walked over to your mirror to take a look at yourself, grounding yourself for the world outside. You wanted so badly to sleep but you knew you had to get a move on if you wanted to get to a camp safely.
“I can do this..” you whispered under your breath, clutching at the handle of one of your daggers, turning to the door. You just had to get to a camp, but more importantly you had to find Glenn.

“Joel,” Ellie drew his name out so it was stretched long and thin. “My fucking feet are about to fall off and that’s going to be an improvement. We have to stop.”
“Few more miles.”
Joel kept his eyes straight ahead and clenched his jaw. He knew the three of you had logged a lot of miles over the last few days. He sure as fuck was feeling it. His knees weren’t what they were 20 years ago but stopping had not been an option. He needed to get you all as far as he could from the men who’d tried to take you, been willing to hurt Ellie.
The three of you walked through the night and then all the next day after fleeing the camp, going in non-sensical ways through the woods. You’d insisted on taking first watch but Joel had hardly slept. He woke up what felt like every few minutes, squinting to find you in the dark, the stock of the rifle across your lap glinting in the moonlight. You slept curled around Ellie, holding her small body tightly to your own, her head tucked below your chin.
He woke you both before the sun was fully up, his legs still aching. But he had to keep you moving, had to put more miles between the three of you and things that would wish you and Ellie harm.
It had been a week of this now. They hadn’t seen another person - even any signs of another person - since Joel killed the man from the camp. Hadn’t crossed paths with any infected, either. The three of you had finally come upon a road that morning, having cut through woods for days. Joel was hoping that you’d come upon a town at some point, even a fucking tiny one. Somewhere he could orient himself, just a gas station with a damn map would do the job. He wasn’t sure where he’d led you after twisting through the forest for so long, hoping to cut such a confusing path no one could follow even if they were trying to.
He just wanted to get a few more miles. Then maybe the fear that had gripped him since you were pulled away from him and a gun was held to Ellie’s head would ease. Just a few more miles.
“Joel,” you said quietly, glancing at Ellie as she trudged along the side of the road. “No one is following us. This isn’t helping.”
He looked down at you, your eyes wide and soft. And it was a comfort for a moment. But then he remembered just how wide they got when you were ripped away from him, when you begged him to take Ellie away.
“Few more minutes,” he looked ahead again. “Then we’ll stop for the night. Next town we find we can stop for a few days, if it looks safe.”
“Few days?” Ellie perked up. “Fuck that sounds amazing. I’m going to sleep for like… a week. And actually give my feet a chance to go back to their normal shape, I feel like they’ve melted into these stupid boots…”
Joel pushed you for another mile and found a spot off the road to set up camp for the night.
“There’d better be a town like… three miles up the road,” Ellie muttered, her back against a tree as the sun set. “I am so fucking tired of walking. I never want to walk again.”
“Hate to break it to you, kid, but we’ve probably only covered maybe 400 miles of the 600 or so we need to hit to just get to the Wyoming border,” you said, eyes closed as you rested your head against a tree trunk. “And then we need to get toward the side of the state that Tommy was calling from. We’re maybe halfway there.”
“Fuck,” she muttered. You smiled a little.
“One of these days I’m going to get on you about your language again, Gremlin,” you said. “You’re becoming feral in the wild.”
Ellie scoffed.
“I was always feral.”
“More feral, then,” you conceded.
“Thank you,” Ellie smiled, content.
She settled in for the night, stretching out in her sleeping bag and curling in on herself as your fingers laced with Joel’s, your breaths relaxed and steady. It was calming, in a way. You were solidly next to him. He could feel you, hear you, sense you. Ellie was safe and close, even in her disturbingly small and fragile way of being. The sharp, jagged shock of fear that had been choking him for the last week eased when you were both like this. Where he could see you, know you were safe.
He was used to it with you but it was new yet familiar with the girl.
Joel hadn’t spent time with children since the outbreak. He’d never really been a kid person. Sarah had been the exception to the rule - to every rule, really. After she was gone, it made sense to avoid kids entirely. It was too risky. Some of the jobs he’d done in the QZ told him that. Kids were a walking liability. They were delicate, too curious for their own fucking good, no sense of self preservation. Joel had surrounded himself with people who weren’t risky. People who could handle themselves, who wouldn’t destroy him if they got hurt.
It’s why he’d shoved you so far away from him, even while he was tied to you, like his veins ran from him to you and back again all the while. Ellie… she was becoming like that, too.
He was sure that it had started because of you. Watching you with the girl was too much like seeing you with Sarah. Ellie and Sarah were two very different people but you loved them the same way - unapologetically, fiercely, fully. In the way that they needed you to love them without expecting anything in return. Your safety became tied to hers.
But it had grown and changed in the few weeks Joel had known the girl. She was more like him than Sarah was in so many ways. She was more like him than she was like you. He saw so much of himself in her, in her rough edges and brash determination and deep drive to take care of things on her own. He wanted to protect her before she ended up just like him, before she became too hardened to the world to be able to love anything in it. And when the man had put a gun to her head…
The man wasn’t living then, not after that. Joel had already wanted him dead for trying to take you but you’d have tried to talk him out of it and he may have let you. But after he threatened Ellie? There was no forgiveness for that. Not when he’d threatened both of you.
“You should get some sleep,” Joel said quietly, squeezing your hand.
“I’m comfortable where I am,” you said softly, squeezing back.
“You’re gonna wake up in an hour and you’re not gonna be able to fall back asleep,” he said.
“So worried about your wife,” you smiled a little, your eyes still closed. Joel sighed. “What? I’m just saying, most men at least ask a lady first…”
“Yeah well,” he shrugged even though you couldn’t see it. “Maybe I will ask one day.”
“Waiting to see what options are on the table wherever Tommy’s living?” You asked, still smiling a bit.
“Figured if I ever asked I should do it right,” he said gruffly. “Been waitin’ for it long enough. Lie down before you end up sleep deprived.”
“Fine,” you signed, not bothering to go for a sleeping bag and putting your head on Joel’s lap. “Wake me up when it’s my turn to keep watch.”
He didn’t answer. He just rested a hand on your side, feeling your breathing shift as you fell asleep.
Ellie hadn’t been too far off in her wish for a close town. It only took three hours of walking the next day before houses started to crop up alongside the road, in little clusters. Then there was a church, a small subdivision made up of maybe 10 houses, a grocery store.
“Oh man, if they have Spaghetti-Os or Chef Boyardee…” Ellie said, walking faster than she had in days for the store.
“Hold on,” Joel grabbed her by the backpack and put her behind him, his gun and flashlight out. “We’ve never been here, gotta take a look around first before you go in and grab whatever you’d like…”
You took your gun out, too, and kept Ellie tucked safely in between you and Joel. But the store was empty, clearly had been for a while. The shelves had been somewhat picked over, but it didn’t look like many people had been here since the outbreak.
“We must be off the beaten path,” you said, tucking your gun into the waistband of your pants and starting to examine what food there was on the shelves.
“Dibs!” Ellie reached to the back of the shelf and pulled out a can of ravioli.
“All yours, gremlin,” you smiled.
“Fuck yeah.”
Stocked up on food, you went to the pharmacy and Joel pried the gate up enough for you to clamber over the counter and into the back.
“There was a leak back here,” you called. “But still have some usable stuff…”
You came back with a few bottles of medication and a notebook.
“What’s that?” Joel frowned.
“The emergency information booklet,” you said, setting on the counter and climbing back over. You opened the booklet and shined your flashlight down at it. “Here we go, we are in scenic Curtis, Nebraska.”
“Nebraska,” Ellie nodded slowly.
“Just one state away from Wyoming,” you said. “Just hope Curtis is on some maps. Speaking of, we should make sure we grab some maps…”
The three of you made your way through town, Joel in the lead, Ellie behind, you at the back. But there was no one.
It didn’t take long to find why. In the middle of the small downtown was a pile of bodies, the skeletons charred. Everyone had been wiped out early. Infected would have bypassed quickly with no one to spread it to and being so far from everything meant that it was likely no one had been here in years. Joel put his gun away.
“Fucking FEDRA,” Ellie muttered, bypassing the pile, barely looking at it. Joel waited for you, your eyes glued to the bodies, your arms crossed tightly over yourself. He pulled you against him and kissed your temple before continuing on.
It didn’t take long to find one of the few hotels in town, an extended stay place.
Joel pried the automatic door to the lobby open and quickly looked around, but it didn’t look like anyone had been here in a while either. There was a rack of brochures near the door and he grabbed a map. Ellie picked up an ad for a local attraction, frowning as she looked it over.
“Did people really go to shit like the Museum of American Dollhouses?” She asked, holding up the brochure.
“No,” Joel said. You laughed.
“Not really,” you amended. “But apparently enough people did.”
“Weird,” she put it back, looking around the lobby some more. She jumped the check in desk, ignoring your exasperated “Ellie” as she did. She rifled around, pulling out a pile of room keys.
“What are these?” She asked, turning one over in her fingers.
“They unlock the hotel room doors,” you said. “But only once they’re programmed to so they’ll be useless for us. Is there some kind of room list back there?”
She frowned, rifling around for a moment before finding a packet of paper and holding it up. You took it.
“OK,” you said, looking over it. “It looks like there are some two bedroom things on the ground floor, rooms 121, 123 and 125.” You looked at Joel. “There are doors.”
He half smiled at you and led the way to the rooms.
They were in relatively good shape, the beds still made from the day of the outbreak. The hotel had been fairly new when everything went to shit and it was too far from anything major to be bombed, so it had held up fairly well. No signs of leaks, windows were intact. Ellie staked her claim to a bedroom, throwing her arms out wide and falling back onto the bed.
“I’m never leaving again,” she said.
“You can’t eat ravioli in there,” you called at her from the small kitchenette.
“I will leave one time,” she said. “But then never again!”
Joel barricaded the main door once night fell, Ellie going to curl up in her room fairly early.
“Do me a favor and keep it down,” she said, gesturing between the two of you. “Because… gross.”
“Be extra loud,” you said, Joel’s arm around your shoulders as you sat against him on the couch. “Got it.”
“Ugh,” she closed the door. You giggled.
Joel looked down at you.
“You mentioned a door,” he said.
“I did,” you nodded. “Specifically that one, over there.”
Joel nodded for a moment.
“Think we should take a closer look at what’s behind it.”
“Really?” You looked up at him, mischievous. “Why’s that?”
“I swear if you don’t let me inside you…” he nipped at your ear.
You giggled.
“Let’s see what’s behind the door.”
Joel had never been happier about the existence of a piece of fucking wood. The second the door was closed, your arms went around his neck and your lips were on his own. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you tight to him, your breasts pressing against him, your hips already trying to grind against him. He groaned, slipping his tongue into your mouth, tangling with yours, sliding over your teeth, trying to get to as much of you as he could reach.
He always fucking wanted you. That was a damn near constant in his life, had been for more than 20 years. Even for the years he thought you were dead - easily the bleakest of his life - when he dreamed of you, it almost always involved fucking you. The feeling of being inside of you, becoming a part of you in the way that he constantly ached to be, the deep satisfaction of having you as close as anyone could get. Even when he just dreamed about talking with you, it was almost always soaked in sex. Naked with you in his bed, tangled in his sheets, your limbs twisted with his own, your hair wound around his fingers. The best conversations of his life had been with you, naked and vulnerable and shut off from the world. He’d longed for that more than he did your body.
But the want he had for you now was different. It was its own snarling, groping thing inside of him, always reaching for you. It had been screaming for satisfaction since you were pulled away from him more than a week ago. He needed to feel you around him. Needed to be deep inside of you, so deep that there was no question in his mind that you were safe and whole and his. He needed to be so close to you that fucking no one could take you away from him.
Joel pulled your shirt over your head and immediately unhooked your bra, taking that off you, too. You tugged as his shirt and he helped you pull it over his head as he pressed you backwards, until your legs were against the bed. He kissed from your mouth, over your jaw to your throat, your skin salty from sweat and dirt and he wanted to devour you.
“Want you,” you said, your nails digging into the exposed skin of his back. “Fuck, want you inside me…”
“Far past wantin’ you,” he said, his lips on your collarbone. He unbuttoned your jeans and tugged them, along with your underwear, down your body. He nudged you down on the bed and your hands flew to his jeans, opening them, tugging the fabric over his aching cock and down until it was in a pile in the floor. You gripped his shaft, running your thumb over his already dripping head before spreading it down over him. You looked up at him through your eyelashes before you leaned forward and took him in your mouth. Just the tip of him at first, your tongue wrapping around him, making him moan as you pressed it into him.
“Fuck, Baby,” he groaned, slipping a hand into your hair. “Fuck, your mouth…”
You moaned, taking more of him into you, sucking him, your tongue pressing into the thick vein that ran along the bottom of his cock until his head was at the back of your throat, your lips wrapped around the base of him. You moaned around him, the vibrations in your throat going straight to his tip, damn near knocking him off his feet as he stood between your legs. You started bobbing up and down his thick shaft, sliding him almost all the way out of your wet, hot, soft mouth so just the tip of him remained between your lips before taking him all the way into your throat again.
You moved a bit faster with every stroke, taking him harder into you each time, his head making you choke as he filled you. Your hands held his thighs, trying to pull him as deep as you possibly could, making his knees go weak.
“Don’t want to cum in your mouth,” he managed, through gritted teeth, trying to think of something - anything - besides just how warm and wet your tongue was. “Fuck Baby, need inside you, need…”
You took him deep in your mouth and moaned, more forcefully this time, sending the vibrations from your throat straight to his cock. He groaned, pulling your head back from him forcefully. You panted for breath and wiped your mouth on the back of your wrist.
“Tryin’ to make me cum before I get to fuck you?” He asked, leaning over you. You crawled back on the bed and he followed, grabbing your ankle and holding you still.
“Not on purpose,” you smiled a little, sitting up on your elbows.
“Find that hard to believe,” he spread your legs and settled between them, his fingers running over your slit. You were fucking dripping wet.
“This all from sucking me off?” He breathed. You nodded. “Fucking hell…”
He kissed you, rubbing your wetness over his shaft, pressing you down into the mattress. He pressed himself against your tight, grasping hole and held your hips in place before he thrust into you in one sharp motion. Your back arched as he met your back wall, your channel already starting to flutter around him.
“Fuck Baby,” he groaned into your mouth, giving your tight heat a moment to get adjusted to his intrusion.
It didn’t matter how many times he’d had you, he’d never get tired of fucking you. It would never get old. You felt to goddamn good, your body molding to him, gripping him tight but soft, your whole being stretching over him. He could feel your body making room for him inside of you, your walls pushed apart while your hips pressed up into him, desperate for it.
He’d never felt anything like being inside you, the overwhelming physical sensation of it alone would be enough to ruin him for anyone else. Nothing felt as good as you, fucking nothing, your tight core gripping him so well it almost hurt. He filled you so perfectly it was the closest he came to believing in God. He was made to do this with you, there was no other way to understand it, explain it. His body was built to fit into yours, to wrap around yours while you were around him.
That would have been enough. It would have been more than enough. But looking in your eyes when he was inside you, the feeling that he’d never been this close to another person and never would be again, never wanted to be this close to anyone but you. The idea that he could see inside you, to all the parts of you he coveted most, that he could know you in a way no one else could and that you could see him in that way, too.
It was a fucking miracle he didn’t cum the second he was inside you.
“Joel,” you breathed, your lips brushing against his own as you spoke. “Fuck… I need…” You closed your eyes for a moment, he could see your throat work as you swallowed. “I need you to move, I need… fuck, too much…”
He kissed you softly as he pulled back from you slowly, dragging his swollen head along your inner walls, feeling every tender ridge of you before thrusting back in, earning him a delicious little groan. He kissed down your jaw to the side of your neck as he increased his pace, your hips rising to meet his as your body tightened around him. You pressed your face into his shoulder with a whimper as his cock drove all the way to the back of you, pressing against the mouth of your womb.
“Fuck,” you panted, kissing his shoulder. “About to… Joel I’m going to cum, I can’t… Fuck!”
You came. Hard. Your walls rippling over him with such force it made his hips stutter over you, desperate little whimpers slipping from your lips as your body milked him.
“Taking me so fucking well,” he managed as he fucked you through your orgasm. You moaned, sounding on the verge of tears below him, his hips slamming against yours with almost bruising strength. “Fuck, baby, you feel so good, so fucking good…”
It seemed like you wanted to say something but couldn’t manage it. He thrust all the way inside you, his own orgasm so fucking close but not ready to leave your body yet. He pushed back from you, his cock still buried in you to the root as he looked to where he became a part of you. You were stretched tight over him, your lower lips swollen.
“Look so fucking pretty with me inside you,” he breathed, looping an arm below your leg and pulling your calf up to his shoulder. He pressed a kiss into the muscle there, making you moan, and he leaned over you with your leg still tight against his chest. You groaned a little as your body adjusted and he held himself inside you. But he knew you felt the angle difference, your eyes searching his own as the moonlight filtered in through the window. Your pussy tightened even more around him.
“Joel,” your voice was raw, achey. “I love you… want you… need you deep, need to feel you as close as I can…”
“I know Baby,” he said, pressing his hips down, able to go even deeper from this angle, your back arching, your whole body tensed like a band ready to snap. “Fuck, you’re incredible, fucking incredible…”
He started fucking down into you then, pulling out only as far as necessary to thrust all the way back into you as your pussy gripped him tight.
“Want to cum with you,” he panted, his arms caging your head as he took you, the moonlight casting shadows on your face. “How…”
“I’m close,” you managed, panting for breath. “Fuck, just… my neck and keep…”
He pressed his cock into you harder, faster and pressed his mouth against your throat, finding the spot he knew where you were most sensitive at the same time as his cock pushed as far into you as something could go and you came around him, your pussy throbbing over his shaft sending him over the edge. He sank as far into you as he could reach, the whole of him buried deep inside you as he came, emptying himself into you until he went slack on top of you, his cock still buried within you.
Joel rolled onto his side, taking you with him, the leg that had been pressed to his chest hitching over his hip as he started to soften inside you. He took your face in his hand, his fingertips dipping into your hair. You pressed your lips into his palm as you caught your breath, your eyes searching his own.
He smiled a little.
“What?” You whispered.
“I fucking love doors.”
A/N: I know, no cliffhanger this time, just our lil' family being a lil' family (and Joel and Doc fucking each other's brains out. As you do.)
I do have a taglist. Please comment below if you'd like to be added! I try to add everyone I see but if I've missed you, please comment again. If you're on the list below but not getting alerts, it's because Tumblr is being mean and won't functionally let me tag everyone. I've left everyone on the list hoping that will magically change but alas, here we are.
Thank you for being here and for reading this and following along! I'm not sure when we'll get another chapter quite like this one - probably not for a hot minute? It's going to get real plot heavy as we get to Jackson so may as well enjoy it while we can!
Love you all!

How would the first years sees a female yuu practice ballet in a empty classroom that supposed to be abandoned? How would their reaction would be?
If you guys haven’t seen the movie “Leap!” (also known as “Dance!”), I highly recommend watching it since it involves ballet and I really enjoyed watching it! Equestrian vaulting is also absolutely stunning to watch in action, which in a way looks like a mix of gymnastics and ballet. I’ve never done ballet before, but I once did equestrian vaulting when I went to horseback riding camp years ago. It was fun—if a little nerve-wracking doing it on the back of one of the largest horse breeds the stable owned. Good times though! Would attempt again! :D
Anyway, let’s see how the monster boys will react to this~! >v>
////------////
Grim was already aware of Yuu’s skill as a ballet dancer, having seen her dance whenever they clean the dorm. From using the tips of her toes to spin and swipe across the tiled floors to the jumps and leaps she made to reach high places without landing heavily, Grim would watch it in awe. More than once he has stopped whatever he’s doing to watch, especially when music is playing. The soft melodies and fluid movements would make him sway almost hypnotically in place, while the quick tempos and swift movements got his blood pumping as he bounced and tried to dance along—even if it wound up with him tripping up the first few times, but he learned!
His favorite moments are the times when she would scoop him into her arms and dance with him, feeling as though he were lighter than air. Who needs a broom when he had Yuu? It was the best thing ever for the Great Grim’s human henchman to be so talented if he said so!
Of course, when it came to explaining Yuu’s ability to the other freshmen, words failed to convey just how impressive her dancing skills were and none of the others had ever seen her dance. None of the videos that Ace found online could match her grace or the flexibility she demonstrated--until he finally had enough and demanded they follow him: “I know where she likes to go practice during breaks!”
And so, thinking it was just another tall tale from the chimera, the other first years agreed to follow him for the time being and out of pure curiosity. When they drew closer to the unoccupied auditorium, however, they began to hear…music. “Shh…be quiet, or she’ll stop,” Grim warned them in a hushed whisper, turning to carefully nudge the door open wide enough for everyone to peer inside without exposing themselves.
Whatever quip Ace had in store died on his lips as he stared, watching as Yuu’s legs bent before she raised one high up in the air while balancing on the tip of her other leg, her arms stretched out in a graceful “L” shape. Somehow, she looked as still as a statue, making him wonder just how strong her legs were to be able to hold that pose. “Whoa…how is she even doing that?” he uttered in amazement, watching her smoothly transition into a slow sweeping twirl.
“Guys, if she’s dancing alone in a classroom, she may not want us to watch,” Deuce whispered, the centaur momentarily wincing when he saw her legs bend in ways he knew he could never pull off without injuring himself. Still, he couldn’t look away, his eyes watching intently as he eventually asked, “Can…humans really move like that?”
“Her movements are so fluid,” Jack commented, ears twitching as he found himself relaxing. There was something soothing about seeing her dance so gracefully, yet even from here he could see the power in her movements—restrained, yet clear as day with each step and twirl and bend and high kick. “Is this some form of martial arts from the human world?”
“Naw…it looks like tha’ ballet thin’ Vil—I mean…it looks like the ballet Vil has me and the other first years practice in the ball room,” Epel commented. As much as he hated being forced to do it…he found that it looked different watching Yuu perform. He knew he’d never be able to do half the movements she could with the way his legs were designed—but there was also a certain satisfaction in realizing that even Vil wouldn’t be able to mimic the same fluid grace or expect the same out of the others.
When a new song began to play, a gasp escaped Sebek before Jack and Epel covered his mouth. Though it was hard for them to not feel just as stunned the moment Yuu leapt atop the desks, spinning and jumping up from desk to desk in time to the rhythm until she reached the highest point. Her body moved with a grace and power that he’d never seen before, her expression—though calm—betraying the smile on her face as she continued her performance for the imaginary crowd. At one point she stopped, her back towards the door as she stood and shuffled backwards on the tips of her toes. Before he or the others could warn her how close she was to the edge of the desk—she leapt!
Time seemed to slow down, her body rising high in the air as—with her legs bent and curved—she spun in the air before straightening her legs out into an impossible split, soaring through the air. Then—as if lighter than a feather—she landed right in front of the podium at the very bottom and stood straight just as the music stopped, turning and bowing gracefully at the “audience”.
“Whoa!! That was amazing!” Deuce exclaimed.
Yuu gasped as she turned towards the doors, her face showing clear embarrassment and shock as she squeaked out, “Wha-? Deuce?!”
“Oops!” Deuce uttered, hands clamped over his mouth as he realized just how loud he’d actually been.
“Scramble!!” Ace yelled.
“Guys!!!” Yuu screeched as they bolted. “Get back here!!”
 /////------/////
Soon enough word spread around about Yuu’s dancing prowess, and it wasn’t long after that Cater and the others would come asking for a demonstration of this performance as well. After all, human dancing hasn’t been recorded in centuries—it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to observe (and record) such practices and seeing how humans could move! If Yuu has any knowledge on other forms of traditional dance, it would become a treasure trove of cultural knowledge to unlock and study the significance of the moves and the traditional garments worn by dancers!

new year, new angst
happy new years yall, if there is information that i never dropped here its the fact that im highly biased towards vertin and sonetto's relationship and i feel like i should drop a little scenario i wrote for the sake of it. its how i celebrate as an angst dweller :)
questions and questions. - A.D.
I didn't understand back then. I did not see you much after the incident, after Ms. Z had brought you back from the outside, drenched in rain. I would have gone to you if it were not for the guards that swarmed you both. You were the only one that came back. Why? Where did the others go? Did something happen to them? To you? What did you see in the outside?
I got the answer to my first few questions the following morning. When you came back, you did not talk for days; Did the things you would normally avoid. It was unlike of you, and I could not tell at that time if I felt relief or remorse. You didn't come up to me until the last night we saw each other up close.
On the night you left, you asked me to fix your hair, which was also an odd request. You normally didn't like doing this, but didn't exactly hate it either. (Perhaps I noticed too late that the reason you didn't hate it was because I was the one doing them.) I helped tie it into that rough and messy half-bun you only began to warm up to; I know you did, as it was the only way you could ever really stay still. You would talk about the frogs and the bugs you found near George the Oak, but you didn't. Not that night. Not in a time of wounds forced to be left unrefined by the white hands. When I made sure that the half-bun looked like the flowers you drew on your papers, you got off my bed and left with most of your things.
Why did you have to leave the dorm in such haste? Even left the toffees and pebbles on your night desk. I kept it for you when I thought you'd come back sooner. The frog was here, too. It croaked and whistled, jumping around the dorm and scaring the other girls. Then the janitor took it out the day after you left. And eventually I hid away the pebbles, ate the toffees. I accepted that I wouldn't feel the warmth of rough hands, showing me pieces of the outside for a long time to come.
There were no answers to the rest of my questions until graduation, and I saw you for the first time in a while. Your hair is fully tied to a side bun, the tiny freckles had faded, your hands rested on the hat on your lap. You wore an intricate suit that even I would have never guessed fitted you. You stood out amongst the black and white crowd as an indigo pawn. You looked far older, mature for our age; As if you had graduated years before. But I still saw the softness in your face, the baby face still made you look like the reckless child you were long ago. You looked…elegant and mysterious. Were you the same deskmate I grew up with all these years?
You graduated with us. A "special student'" like the principal called you once. They announced that you had become the first "Timekeeper" in the Foundation, a title of reverence and importance. You tipped your hat forward and placed your closed fist on your chest, finally speaking. "May the peace be with us." Those were the first words I heard in your low, gentle, and firm voice.
After that, you disappeared. Worked diligently, but left no trace around the Foundation until you came back to report weekly. We never spoke to each other until that fateful week in London, and the time that passed after that. Back then I did not understand what that title meant, but I do now. It sparked new questions full of wonder. And that wonder came with its concerns.
What did you really see outside? In the "Storm"? How much more did you lose? What will it take to break from the weight of the world on your shoulders? When will you realize it's okay to be vulnerable again?
More and more questions arise the more you shroud yourself into melancholic mystery. Perhaps, as time passes, all these will be answered and land into place.
But for now, I just want to spend more time with you, and rebuild what we lost. Make up for what could've been and discover new things together again.
