Witchcraft Exercise - Creating Correspondences

There are dozens of plant species in the arsenal of the green witch. Commonly-used varieties and usage varies somewhat between traditions, but most of us are fairly familiar with industry standards like basil, bay, rosemary, sage, and so on.

But what do you do when faced with a plant that has no listed magical correspondences anywhere that you can find in your witchcraft library? Simple - you create some.

Allow me to demonstrate with a little plant I found in my own backyard. It's a common weed called Virginia copperleaf (Acalypha virginica). But despite it's widespread range and abundant growth as a field weed, there are surprisingly few references to the plant in regional folk medicine and none at all that I could find in contemporary witchcraft.

So in order to incorporate this hardy little weed into my practice, I set about creating some correspondences for it.

First, I researched the physical properties of the plant. It is a small annual spurge with long taproots, a resistance to drought and many herbicides, and a reputation for fast growth and being difficult to eradicate from fields due to prolific seeding. The leaves turn coppery-red in the fall and small spiky flowers bloom among the foliage. It is also mildly poisonous. The juice of the plant may cause contact dermatitis or a mild rash in some people and if ingested, it may cause GI symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Next, I researched references to the plant in folk medicine. I could only find a single reference that cited copperleaf as a possible diuretic and expectorant. That does track with the previous mention of GI symptoms, but it doesn't mean the plant is safe to use. I did discover that an alternate name for the plant is three-seeded mercury or mercury weed, likely because of its' tendency for fast growth and the fact that it is propagated by the wind.

So now comes the business of creating the correspondences, using the physical properties of the plant as a basis.

The first and most obvious association is strength. Any weed that is resistant to drought and herbicide and uprooting is bound to be useful for spells involving tenacity and fortitude. Prosperity is also a likely use, both because of the name copperleaf and the way in which the plant grows and spreads quickly. Because of the alternate name mercury weed and the wind propagation, it could be used for wind magic or communication spells. (I often associate the element of air with communication and the name of a messenger god is right there as well, but your mileage may vary.)

The plant could also be used as an ingredient for baneful magic, either to bind and frustrate someone's efforts by consuming available ground where their ambitions might grow, or in its' capacity as a mild poison, to cause physical discomfort and stomach trouble.

So in the end, I have a handful of copperleaf and a listing in my witchbook that details the properties of the plant and notes that it could be useful for spells involving strength, tenacity, prosperity, wind, or communication, as well as possible baneful uses including binding, discomfort, and sickness.

This is my system for assigning correspondences to previously-unknown plants, and I encourage readers to use it as a template for their own practices or to create their own system. Either way, I recommend the use of a field guide or plant identification app like PlantNet to properly identify plants as you find them. Remember to forage and harvest responsibly, be a good steward of the land around you, and always label your plant cuttings.

The Reversal Agents

Detective Hart sighed as a young man struggled against his restraints and the firm grasp of his supervisor, Detective Philips. It was supposed to be a routine case: Frank Grimes, a 32-year old male and serial transformee was masquerading as a 22-year college senior and frat president. Not the worst illegal transformation Hart had seen in his few years as a member of the Department of Affairs Related to Transformation- hell he questioned if any of this was necessary. But Frank had at least 24 counts of illegal transformations against him and so it was time for the department to step in. Originally, the department was founded to reverse involuntary transformations, or ones that were deemed disruptive- hence the nickname “the reversal agents”. Minor transformations like this though? Hart didn’t fully understand.

“Alright Frank, I’m sure you know the drill.” Philips said, emotionless, “We’re going to...”

“I’m not Frank!” The young jock said angrily, “My name is Jared Wilson! I have no idea who the fuck Frank is.”

Hart stepped in, “Right... Okay Jared, we have reason to believe that...”

“Let me talk to my parents! Or a lawyer!” Jared insisted, “People can vouch for me. My bros, my girlfriend, fuck dude you can’t do this! I have no idea what any of you are talking about.”

“Look, our technology has a high success rate of picking up residual signs of transformation. You can cut the act, Frank.” Hart was getting annoyed, usually the perp would break by now. Yeah it sucked going back to their original body, but usually voluntary transformees just accepted it.

“You never fucking scanned me, dude!” Jared insisted, “You just abducted me out of nowhere!” Hart frowned, “You gotta believe me! That Philips guy, he has it out for me. His son rushed our frat, didn’t make the cut. He’s out to get me!” Philips face remained unchanged.

Hart scoffed at the notion, “Look, no more games.” He pulled out his residual detection scanner, quickly scanning Jared. However, after a few seconds the machine read “No Transformation Detected”, “What the...”

“Scanner must be broken.” Detective Philips stated calmly, “Frank transformed many times. Causes the scanners to read unreliably.” Hart nodded, he wasn’t aware of that fact, but given that Philips started when the department was founded, he had no reason to disagree.

Jared for his part, couldn’t believe this was happening, the fear evident in his eyes. He wanted to run, resist, whatever he could do, but his restraints prevented him. He continued to plead with them, but it all fell on deaf ears. He tensed up as he read the sign on a large metal door: “Reversal Chamber”.

“Wait no, please!” Jared insisted, “I’m me! You can’t do this!” But he was thrown into the room, and the door slammed behind him. He looked around desperately, trying to look for an escape. But the room was windowless, the walls adorned with scanners, tubes, and metallic arms.

Meanwhile, Detectives Hart and Philips entered the control room, where they were able to view Jared through a one-way window. As Hart watched the panicked young man, he felt like something was wrong.  

“We’ll be using a template model of Frank. I’ve added some things too. He’ll never wants to use transformation technology again.”  

Hart raised an eyebrow. Template models were questionably ethical- they were not true reversals per se. Instead of reversing a transformation, it forced a transformation into the preprogramed template, “Sir, only the district manager can approve a template model, did you...”

“I’d stop asking questions, detective.” Philips said, turning to Hart, “Just enjoy the show.” The older officer pressed a button and a loud automated voice reverberated through the room “Reversal to Begin.”

Jared for his part was terrified. He watched as his handcuffs came undone, and at this point, he ran over to bang on the door. But to his shock, a few metal arms came down and grabbed him, hoisting him into the air where he could see himself in the reflection of the metal room. He let out a yelp as they ripped his clothing off, leaving him naked.

“Wait stop!” He called out desperately, tugging at the metal arms that suspended him in the air.  

He watched as a few scanners moved and positioned themselves around his toned legs. The young man felt a strange sensation as the muscle in his legs seemed to slowly atrophy. His impressive calves became diminished and filled with fat as they plumped up. The light hair on them darkened and grew thicker. He grunted as the scanners slowly moved up his legs, ensuring the no part of them remained unchanged.

‘Who the fuck was this guy?’ Jared thought, a strange sensation emanating from his legs. They felt heavier, almost more tired. Jared could feel the extra years of age and lack of exercise. And that terrified him. As a runner and lacrosse player, fitness was an essential part of his life.

It was at this point though that several clamps shot out from the walls and wrapped themselves around his impressive arms. A saddle-like device also emerged from below him and slowly wrapped itself around his cock, balls, and ass. He let out a groan as the saddle tightened around his member, releasing small waves of pleasure. Meanwhile, the part around his ass began jabbing several small needles into the muscles. He was beginning to understand the type of man he was becoming- and it was the very type of guy he had lived his life not wanting to be.

“Please! Stop this!” He called out desperately, “I swear, I’m me! I’m Jared!” But his pleas were futile.

He let out a grunt as the saddle around his privates came undone and he could finally appreciate the damage that was done there. His previously well-groomed member was covered in a dense layer of pubes, which had already begun emitting a powerful musk, causing him to gag. The thought of running or engaging in the physical activity his old body was used to just didn’t seem to be something this body would be capable of. He could only let out a frustrated grunt at this point- maybe just maybe he could find a way out of this. If he finished the transformation, he could lawyer up and prove his case. He was confident he could overcome this.

Meanwhile, Hart and Philips watched as the machine continued its process. Clamps had come down and began working on Jared’s face, adding some fat and spraying the hair growth serum. Hart watched as a beard grew across the former jock’s face and piercings were inserted along his nose and ears. Having had enough, he turned to Philips.

“Sir, something seems off about the whole thing. My scanner didn’t pick up any changes and this isn’t how a voluntary transformee usually acts”

“Detective Hart, are you questioning me?” Philips replied sternly. Hart shook his head, “Good.”

They continued to watch as the machine finished making the changes to Jared. With the last few physical changes made to his formerly chiseled face, the scanners and hands went back into rest mode. Before them now stood a perfect copy of Frank, something that Detective Hart felt mixed about. Something was surely wrong. But before he could say anything, he watched as Philips pressed another button. A pair of goggles slowly approached Jared’s face.

“Hey now, those are for mental realignment. You need the director’s permission to use those.” Hart said, taken aback, “And if this was a suspected voluntary transformation, there shouldn’t be a need for...”

“Are you going to report me, detective?” Philips asked.

“Sir, something is wrong with all this. Jared mentioned your son not making it into his frat. Is this some kind of...”

“So what? What would you tell the boss, eh? That I struck a deal with the real Frank? That I’m turning Jared into Frank and will let the real Frank live Jared’s life as frat president, just as long as he accepts my kid? Who would believe that?” Philips chuckled and turned to Hart, “Remember, insubordination has consequences, right Detective Hart? Wouldn’t want anything happening to you out there.” Hart gulped and nodded, watching as the mental realignment technology fastened to Jared’s head.

Jared felt the goggles fasten to his head, unsure of what was to come. But just as they became fixed to his head, his vision became filled with multiple images. He didn’t understand what they were, but as he focused, he could see images of a life he never lived. Dropping out of school, living in his mom’s basement, finding a more successful boyfriend, and moving in with the man he loved. Memories of a lifetime playing videogames for hours, failing his high school classes, eating junk food, and discovering he was gay seemed to become his reality. Jared didn’t understand what these images were supposed to be doing and he focused on his own memories, but as the images flashed faster and faster before his eyes, it was becoming difficult to ignore. More intimate details of his... no Frank’s life flashed before his eyes. Images of pleasing his boyfriend in all kinds of ways, how hot he found the other man, and the desires to do even more with the man started forcing themselves into his brain.

“No... not my life...” Jared mumbled as the images continued to flash.

They were so quick, so powerful... each image repeated over and over again, strange spirals appearing behind them. Afterwards, Frank collected his clothing and met the two detectives in a separate room. They were informing him about the process, something about being banned from using transformation technology, but Frank couldn’t understand why he’d ever want to use it anyway. He was perfectly content with his life and his loving boyfriend. The detectives were nice enough to drop him off at his apartment, and Frank quickly got ready. He showered, enjoying the warm water on his body. He slapped his gut and grinned- Cole was into bigger guys and with the way he was going, he wondered how large he could get. And when Cole finally did walk in, Frank ran over to him, kissing him deeply.

“Never leave me like that again babe.” Cole said, staring deeply into Frank’s eyes, “It’s always so tough when you go on your little adventures.”

Frank grinned, “Don’t you worry.” He said leaning in for another kiss, “I’m happy where I am.”

And as their clothes were thrown to the side and the sensual night went on, Frank couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. Memories of his life as Jared were still there- all the girls he hooked up with, the nights studying, and all the days practicing on the field. It all seemed so stressful looking back, perhaps he should thank the reversal agents for their help. He wondered what the old him would’ve thought about this. But as he guided Cole’s dick into his mouth, Frank couldn’t care less.

Got a bit inspired by the WotR CRPG's Lich path, but what changes, if any, would you make to the Lich template to fit an Archlich, from DnD's older editions (Forgotten Realms wiki indicates they were first mentioned back in 2e, and last in 4e, not very common though)? It may not entirely fit Golarion's cosmology of Undead = Bad, but I find the idea of a spellcaster going into Lichdom for altruistic reasons (like, say, needing an emotionless, painless, nigh-inexhaustible army to stem the tides of the Abyss) fascinating. If nothing else, it might get the Church of Pharasma more interested in a particular cause to get this Lich to up and die peacefully and willingly. And I mention 'changes' since apparently the process of becoming an Archlich was both more difficult, but could yield greater power. Although I can't really find anything to support this claim otherwise, can't find any pages on stats on the topic and searching up 'Archlich' just makes Vecna show up.

Oh wow that's bizarre, I had no idea there was a Good-aligned Lich equivalent in older editions! I'm a little baffled by the fact they didn't think to name themselves anything more creative than just "Better Lich," but the implications of their existence and their creation process sort of does make them Better Liches. If what I'm reading here is correct, the primary difference between becoming an Archlich and a normal Lich is that a normal Lich takes shortcuts in their paths to power, forcing other creatures to bear the brunt of the trauma of their transformation, draining life and soul from others away to sustain themselves. Meanwhile, the Archlich must undergo a quest to discover a 'secret spell' and must learn every single spell required in the ritual; they cannot skimp on any detail, their ascension cannot be done another way, and carries a very real and very intimidatingly large chance that all their preparations are rendered meaningless and the ritual fails by pure bad luck.

Interesting! There's something to be said about the rewards that come from rejecting the path of least resistance.

Also, I wouldn't say Undead are always Bad And Evil, but as we've discussed at length on this blog, in the Pathfinder universe it's very difficult to be an undead that's Good-aligned and especially difficult to STAY good once the transformation is finished. Becoming undead for altruistic and good reasons doesn't change the fact that your soul will now itch to cause destruction and entropy. The urge can certainly be steered in acceptable directions, and in fact in the very video game you've mentioned it's one of the more powerful and useful Mythic paths for doing exactly that in the way you've suggested... but in-game it doesn't stop Pharasma from leering at you, and to complete your transformation into a full-power Lich in WotR you do in fact have to purge Good from your soul. Even your mentor, Zacharius, became a lich for an ostensibly good reason, only for undeath to slowly warp him into something ruthless and pragmatic.

... anyway, that wasn't your question. You asked what I would do to make the Archlich! The good news is that I do happen to have the book their stats appear in (Monsters of Faerun), stats I apparently never read or never found interesting enough to retain, but the bad news is that they're not especially different from a regular Lich, with a few notable exceptions:

--Archliches cannot be Turned by Good-aligned Clerics and are immune to channeled positive energy.

--Archliches have a constant Water Walk effect on themselves.

--The Paralyzing Touch of an Archlich sets the victim in a death-like state of suspended animation, during which the creature does not need to eat, breathe, or drink.

--Archliches can send their spirit outwards from themselves 3/day in a manner akin to, but not quite, Astral Projection.

There's apparently some more details in even earlier books, such as the ability for an Archlich to destroy any Undead being they create with a touch (presumably to end their service), immunity to the attacks and spells of any creature with 6 or less Hit Dice, and perhaps most impressively the ability to passively regenerate spell slots, but I do not have access to that particular book (Lost Ships) at this time to confirm for certain.

I almost always seem to have the minority opinion on media. And I'm really sick of it now.

I've been on a Fire Emblem kick again lately. But unfortunately, as much as I love all of the Fire Emblem games on 3DS? That's approximately how much I hate Fire Emblem: Three Houses on Switch. ....which is, of course, the most popular/successful game in the series to date.

Okay, look: In Fire Emblem, I really like the strategy-combat stuff and the storylines + support conversations. THAT'S the tasty meat. Anything else? Is irritating busywork to me. So if I spend between 2/3-3/4 of a supposed Fire Emblem game doing the other shit? You've crafted a great recipe to make me feel like I'm MOSTLY doing stuff I hate, and thusly I shall hate your game. And that's the START of the issue with Three Houses. (I must resist getting into the protagonist being a mute cipher OR how multiple side activities require blind luck or a guide to succeed OR bitching about the weak battle map design... oh shit oh SHIT I'M OUTING MYSELF, RUN FOR IT MARTY!)

By comparison, this year's Fire Emblem Engage feels like a step back in the right direction! I'm playing it a lot right now, and I'm mostly having a good time! Still more busywork than I want in these games, but it's at least back on the side of "more good than bad." So of course, if I look this game up and read any fan reviews or watch any videos... they're all about how disapppointing and sucky it is in comparison.

God. Of COURSE they are.

I really don't know why the advances they made with Fire Emblem Echoes haven't carried into the newer games. 3D dungeons you can explore for items and enemy encounters in a Persona-like fashion? Genius! Make it the template going forward! ..... What's that? Not even most fans bothered to buy or play that game??? So no one fucking cares about that feature?

See, this is how it always goes for me. If I fall in love with a movie, I'll later learn it's either hated or ignored by its own fandom or by the masses at large. If I get emotionally invested in some weird game and its characters? There's a high probability that almost no one played it. And those who did? They didn't like it as much as me. If I think a game is really annoying and full of boring shit? Great reviews, huge fandom, etc.

I could make an utterly wild fucking list of things I like/love that other people hate. And the same is true in reverse. Sometimes, even when I agree with the hate on something, I don't agree with ANY of the reasons for WHY other people hate it!

Before you ask: It doesn't matter whether I know the "majority opinion" in advance of seeing/experiencing something, or I have no clue wht people think of something until I look it up later. I've gone to many midnight premieres of movies that weren't yet screened for critics, and I typically always wind up on the wrong side of the majority. I've played obscure games just because the premise sounded good, fallen in love with them, gone looking for a fandom... and found out that everybody thinks said game is utter shit.

So I'm not just being contrarian; this shit comes NATURALLY.

However, I should make some caveats about this weirdness clear:

Sometimes I feel like I'm on the wrong side of JUST the outspoken part of the audience... but there's evidence to support that my own stance maybe ISN'T so weird. For example: My family and I have always loved 2009's Avatar. We never were dressing up like the goddamn Na'vi or anything so fanatical, but we've rewatched it many times over the years. We regularly quote it to each other around the house. And the massive success of that movie (and its recent sequel) seems to back up that this admiration/enjoyment isn't THAT crazy or esoteric, RIGHT? It's just that the Internet is extremely outspoken about Avatar supposedly being lame and totally unmemorable. Remember how people in 2022 kept being like "You can't remember even three character names from that movie! Nobody quotes it!" and shit like that? I was one of the people going "I will list you NINE characters and spew DOZENS of quotes at you."

My "minority opinion" thing only stretches so far. It's not like I thought The Room was the best movie I'd ever seen or angrily felt Tears of the Kingdom was the worst game I ever played. That would be beyond "minority" and more "MADNESS." There's a limit to this weirdness; it has to be within a certain degree of reason, you know? Some things just aren't POSSIBLE to totally flip the script on. Birdemic will always be embarrassingly terrible, and I refuse to believe anyone would legitimately feel otherwise. OK?

This isn't completely universal, either. There are always exceptions where I actually wind up on the right side of the majority. They're just... rarer than the other thing, honestly.

It gets exhausting to always feel like I'm on the defensive or at worst, utterly alone in how I think among the larger community. I don't want this anymore.

But I don't get a say, clearly. I'm just going to keep doing this. I'm going to go see a movie on opening weekend and think "Wow, what an awful piece of shit" only to find that DECADES LATER, people still cite it as one of the best movies in its genre. I'm going to adore a modern revival of a classic comic book, then I'll go online and find that it's widely considered an abomination before god. This is who I am. It's just REALLY tiring to be here.

I saw your post about Jon not becoming a NK and wondered whether you think there is a possibility of Bran becoming the leader of the Others instead? What if the "King Bran" spoiler GRRM gave D&D actually meant a Night's King Bran ending instead of King of Westeros (or the south at least) Bran? I feel like he's being led toward something like that through his connection with the weirwoods, but perhaps his arc is about rejecting that type of power and choosing non-magical leadership instead?

My take on the Night King is that there's more than a little of Stannis in there, a leader who succumbs to the seductive call of otherworldly power. The Night King and the Corpse Queen mentally enslave his fellow Night's Watch brothers (potentially through warg-like powers?) and make unspecified sacrifices that may or may not resemble those made by Craster. It takes an alliance of enemies to defeat them.

He brought her back to the Nightfort and proclaimed her a queen and himself her king, and with strange sorceries he bound his Sworn Brothers to his will. For thirteen years they had ruled, Night's King and his corpse queen, till finally the Stark of Winterfell and Joramun of the wildlings had joined to free the Watch from bondage. After his fall, when it was found he had been sacrificing to the Others, all records of Night's King had been destroyed, his very name forbidden. (ASOS, Bran IV)

All of this reeks of blood magic, to the point where I see the corpse queen as a metaphor for this icy version of blood magic, if she is not a priestly figure similar to Melisandre.

I don't think that this represents a concrete leadership position over the Others, certainly not in the future. (I think the ice threat will be definitively ended.) But it's a template of abuse of power that fits villains like Stannis or Dany, and it may touch on an ancient crime committed by a Stark in connection with blood magic and is likely related to the Starks' inherited warg powers.

I do think that Bran is connected to this tale, in terms of a parallel, as he too is enslaving Hodor with his mind and unable to resist the temptation of abusing his warging ability. He could become the Stark that turns evil, if he chose. He is the representation of the ancient history of House Starks that likely needs correcting. All those Brandons...

His growing power and his ability to see and even manipulate the past may even end up leading Bran into a position that seems like a mirror to Daenerys with the Dothraki. She is more than likely going to unite the khalasars at Vaes Dothrak, or at least defeat the current leadership, cause immense destruction to their holy site and end up leading a sizable new army of dangerous warriors.

Bran seemingly taking up a position of power, leadership or influence over the wights or in collusion with the Others is a very plausible development in the lead-up to his return South and the resolution to this threat. The weirwood cave is unlikely to remain safe for long. The crone-like Bloodraven married to the tree, drawing Bran into his world, mirrors the dosh khaleen. Christmas special: Some gift ideas

Hello, Athe here!

I've been thinking a lot about some small gifts that I think would be perfect for the characters. Sort of like Christmas ideas for small budgets. I've tried to find some visual references and give some context for those who don't know the characters that well. It would be interesting to see what you guys would come up with, especially, for your own OCs… I'm going to leave a blank template below for anyone who wants to add some more or create their own OC version. We will reblog all your suggestions, you can also leave them in our ask which is always open. Happy holidays!

Arael

Protective console case or gaming case: You can't go wrong with anything related to video games, especially if it's something with a cute aesthetic. Arael can't resist that kind of thing.

Ice cream maker: No more endless queues in the canteen. Arael will be able to make his own personalised ice cream with one of these machines.

Kigurumi: A warm pyjama to spend their hours in front of the computer playing or in your company.

Zihel

Fire extinguisher: It goes without saying why it's a good idea for Zihel to have a fire extinguisher on hand.

Some new clothes: The truth is that his clothes are outdated and quite torn. You would do him a favour by buying him something even if he won't thank you directly. Besides, he will accept any style you want to put on him without putting up too much of a fuss.

Survival kit: Zihel has always been interested in everything related to hunting and survival. He'll surely appreciate a kit with everything he needs for an adventurous weekend (or another kind of weekend…).

Kyeran

Original teapot or tea set: Kyeran really enjoys drinking hot tea, so he would love a tea set. If you take the opportunity to give it a personalised touch in keeping with his style of decoration, you will make him very happy.

Portable hammock: You never know when you'll want to rest during a desert trek. A portable hammock can be ideal for him, but also for you to share a romantic moment.

Emotional support dolls: Anything you've made by hand will be highly valued, but these cute little dolls with motivational phrases will lift anyone's spirits.

Joe

Portable charger: Don't ever catch Joe without a charge on one of her many devices. Without them Joe could go crazy and you will probably be her target.

Pyjamas or satin pillowcase: Inexpensive options to recreate a luxurious experience. Either is a good choice. Joe loves to feel pampered.

Massage oil: It's likely that with this you can both participate.

Opal

Handmade candles: Since Opal discovered that he has a good sense of smell, he has also found that the smells of scented candles relax him a lot. It is easy for him to get stressed or irritable, but candles help him to calm his nerves.

Watchmaking tools: Opal has started a new trade and is comfortable repairing and making wind-up watches. But he often loses his tools or they break. A new kit is always welcome.

Work apron: Another thing he has recently discovered is that he enjoys working with the soil and could do with a work apron to keep all his gardening tools in.

Ariel

Poker cards with famous musicians: He likes to play card games, especially if gambling is involved. If you buy him some personalised cards like these, you can be sure he'll always have them with him.

Special edition vinyls: Any music fan would love something like this. You can't go wrong with an original edition of one of your favourite bands.

Skull-shaped ice bucket or whiskey set: There are quite a few objects in this shape in Ariel's house. We thought he might like something to do with alcohol.

Akane

Pizza oven: Akane is a ramen and pizza fanatic. This time, we thought it might be nice to have a mini oven so that her pizzas are always perfect.

Car bin: Everyone knows that Akane loves driving, but not so much tidiness and cleanliness. Help her to keep it all tidy with this mini-trash bin for the car.

Exercise dice: She loves sport. We suggest you give her something more original than a pair of trainers or a bottle of water with a dice to help him choose her daily exercises.

Hasiel

Ultrasonic cleaner: Anyone who owns glasses will understand Hasi's problems with keeping his glasses clean. You'd be doing him a big favour by buying him a little machine like this.

Writers' Socks: Although he wouldn't usually wear colourful, flashy clothes, socks are perfect for letting his imagination run wild. Especially if they are about a subject that interests you as much as books do.

Diorama bookmarks: Another Christmas classic are bookmarks, but I have found some that recreate mythical scenes from classic books. They are available for many works and can be a perfect complement to special editions of books.

Pencil holder: I couldn't resist making this little inside joke. A little reminder won't hurt either.

Snack advent calendar: Why ask for one gift when you can have 24? He would love any advent calendar, but a snack calendar seems appropriate for him.

Projector: With a small projector he can watch films and series in his sorority room or invite you to join him.

Maske

Fingerprint padlock: A secure padlock for a person who hides a lot of secrets. Maske loves tech gadgets and keeping their privacy safe.

Cup warmer: For someone who drinks a lot of coffee and has insomnia, this cup warmer will keep your cups at the perfect temperature.

Spice collection: It's no secret that Maske likes to cook, so they have a lot of utensils, so the smartest thing I could think of is to give them some kind of exotic spice kit so they can innovate in their kitchen and get out of their comfort zone a bit.

Gothic picnic basket: A perfect basket for two to have a romantic meal in the forest with Opal.

Couples' keepsake wheel: Important dates and memories can be engraved on it. A romantic and personalised gift.

Sewing scissors: A nice pair of scissors is a must in the sewing basket of a seamstress.

He estado pensando mucho en algunos pequeños regalos que creo que serían perfectos para los personajes. Algo así como ideas de navidad para presupuestos pequeños. He intentado buscar algunas referencias visuales y darle algo de contexto para aquellos que no conozcan tan bien a los personajes. Sería interesante ver qué es lo que se os ocurriría a vosotros, especialmente, sobre vuestros propios OCs... Voy a dejar abajo una plantilla en blanco para aquel que le apetezca añadir alguno más o crear su versión OC. Arael

Carcasa protectora para consola o funda para juegos: No se puede fallar con cualquier cosa relacionada con videojuegos, especialmente, si es algo con una estética cuqui. Arael no se puede resistir a esa clase de cosas.

Heladera: Se acabaron las colas interminables en el comedor. Arael podrá hacer sus propios helados personalizados con una máquina de éstas.

Kigurumi: Un pijama calentito para pasar sus horas delante del ordenador jugando o en tu compañía.

Zihel

Extintor: Sobra decir por qué es buena idea que Zihel tenga un extintor a mano.

Algo de ropa nueva: Lo cierto es que su ropa está anticuada y bastante rota. Le harías un favor comprándole algo aunque no vaya agradecértelo directamente. Además, aceptará cualquier estilo que quieras ponerle sin poner demasiadas pegas.

Kit de supervivencia: A Zihel siempre le ha llamado la atención todo lo relacionado con la caza y la supervivencia. Seguro agradecerá un kit con todo lo necesario para un finde de aventuras (o un finde otro tipo...).

Kyeran

Tetera o juego de té original: Kyeran disfruta mucho de tomar un té calentito, así que un juego de té le encantaría. Si aprovechas para que tenga algún toque personalizado a su estilo de decoración le harás muy feliz.

Hamaca portable: Nunca se sabe cuando vas a querer descansar durante una ruta por el desierto. Una hamaca portátil puede ser ideal para él, pero también para que compartáis un momento romántico.

Muñecos de soporte emocional: Cualquier cosa que hayas hecho a mano la valorará muchísimo, pero estos tiernos muñequitos con frases motivacionales levantan el ánimo a cualquiera.

Joe

Cargador portátil: Que nunca le pille a Joe sin carga en alguno de sus muchos dispositivos. Sin ellos Joe podría volverse loca y, seguramente, su diana seas tú.

Pijama o funda de almohada de satén: Opciones económicas para recrear una experiencia lujosa. Cualquiera de las dos es una buena opción. A Joe le encanta sentirse consentida.

Aceite para masajes: Es probable que con esto podáis participar los dos.

Opal

Velas hechas a mano: Desde que Opal descubrió que tiene buen olfato, también se ha dado cuenta que los olores de las velas aromáticas le relajan mucho. Es fácil que se estrese o esté irritado pero las velas le ayudan a calmar sus nervios.

Herramientas de relojería: Opal ha comenzado un nuevo oficio y se siente cómodo reparando y fabricando relojes de cuerda. Pero a menudo pierde sus herramientas o se rompen. Un nuevo kit siempre será bienvenido.

Delantal de trabajo: Otra cosa que ha descubierto recientemente, es que le agrada mucho trabajar con la tierra y no le vendría mal un delantal de trabajo donde guardar todas sus herramientas de jardinería.

Ariel

Cartas de póker con músicos famosos: Le gusta jugar a juegos de cartas, sobre todo, si hay apuestas de por medio. Si le compras unas cartas personalizadas como éstas, te aseguramos que siempre las llevará encima.

Vinilos de edición especial: Cualquier fanático de la música le gustaría algo así. No se puede fallar con una edición original de una de sus bandas favoritas.

Cubitera o set de whiskey en forma de calavera: No son pocos los objetos con esta forma en su casa. Hemos pensado que le podría agradar algo relacionado con el alcohol.

Akane

Horno de pizza: Akane es una fanática del ramen y las pizzas. Esta vez, se nos ha ocurrido que podría estar bien un mini horno para que sus pizzas queden siempre perfectas.

Basura para el coche: Todo el mundo sabe que Akane ama conducir, pero no tanto el orden, ni la limpieza. Ayúdala a que lo mantenga todo recogido con esta mini-papelera para el coche.

Dado de ejercicio: Le encanta el deporte. Te proponemos darle algo más original que unas zapatillas o una botella de agua con un dado que le ayude a elegir sus ejercicios diarios.

Hasiel

Limpiador ultrasónico: Todos los que tienen gafas comprenderán bien los problemas de Hasi para mantener sus gafas limpias. Le harías un gran favor comprándole una pequeña máquina como estas.

Calcetines de Escritores: Aunque por lo general no usaría prendas coloridas, ni muy llamativas, los calcetines son perfectos para dejarse llevar por la imaginación. Sobre todo, si son de un tema que le interesa tanto como lo son los libros.

Marcapáginas en forma de diorama: Otro clásico navideño son los marcapáginas, pero he encontrado unos que recrean escenas míticas de libros clásicos. Los hay de muchas obras y pueden ser un complemento perfecto para ediciones especiales de libros.

Portalápices: No me he podido resistir a hacer esta pequeña broma interna. Un pequeño recordatorio tampoco le vendrá mal.

Calendario de adviento de snacks: Para que pedir un regalo cuando puedes tener 24... Cualquier calendario de adviento le gustaría, pero uno de snaks parece apropiado para él.

Proyector: Con un pequeño proyector podrá ver películas y series en su cuarto de la hermandad o invitarte a acompañarle.

Maske

Candado con huella dactilar: Un candado seguro, para una persona que oculta muchos secretos. A Maske le encantan los gadget tecnológicos y tener su intimidad a buen recaudo.

Portavasos calentador: Para alguien que toma mucho café y tiene insomnio este calentador mantendrá sus tazas a la temperatura perfecta.

Colección de especias: No es ningún secreto que a Maske le gusta cocinar, por eso tiene gran cantidad de utensilios, por eso, lo más inteligente que se me ha ocurrido es regalarle algún tipo de kit de especias exóticas para que innove en su cocina y salga un poco de su zona de confort.

Aracne

Cesta de picnic gótica: Una cesta perfecta para dos, con la que poder tener una comida romántica en el bosque acompañada de Opal.

Rueda de recuerdos para parejas: Se pueden grabar fechas importantes y recuerdos en ella. Un regalo romántico y personalizado.

Tijeras de costura: Unas bonitas tijeras nunca sobran en el cesto de arreglos de una costurera.

In the closing minutes of Wales’s Five Nations meeting with France at Cardiff Arms Park in March 1976, the home side were resisting an onslaught by the visitors when the French wing Jean-François Gourdon found some space on the touchline by the north stand. Gourdon was then hit by a shuddering shoulder charge from Wales’s full-back, JPR Williams, that all but sent him spinning into the crowd. Williams raised his fist in triumph and Wales held on to win 19-13 and complete a seventh grand slam.

In truth, Williams’s tackle was far from legal, but the incident remains an indelible image in the minds of Welsh rugby supporters – that and a photograph of the Bridgend No 15 with blood pouring from his face after being trampled by a visiting All Blacks boot. International rugby in the 1970s was not for the squeamish, and JPR survived by being not just supremely skilful, but as hard as nails.

Williams, who has died aged 74 from bacterial meningitis, would forever be known as JPR, the three most evocative initials in the sport. Only France’s Serge Blanco could rival him as the greatest full-back in history. When the law-makers of the international board prevented the ball from being kicked directly into touch in 1968 it gave the opportunity for Williams and others such as Scotland’s Andy Irvine to forge a template for how a modern attacking full-back should play.

The source of Williams’s famous hardness is surprising. Unusually for top-class players in Wales, he came from a comfortable middle-class home. Williams once told of how he turned up at a Wales Schoolboys’ trial in a Rolls Royce. His upbringing, he said served as an incentive “to prove to my mates that I was tough and one of them”.

John Peter Rhys was born in Bridgend to Peter and Margaret, both doctors. Margaret had been born in Rochdale, so young John could have played for England, but that was not a subject much discussed in the Williams household.

It was on the lawns of Wimbledon rather than the muddy fields of Cardiff Arms Park or Bridgend that Williams first made his mark as a sportsman of renown. As a 17-year-old, he won the 1966 British junior tennis title at Wimbledon, beating David Lloyd in the final.

He was gaining a reputation at rugby in Bridgend, where his father was the club president and doctor. By this time Williams had left Bridgend grammar school for Millfield school in Somerset, where future Wales scrum-half Gareth Edwards was a pupil.

From Millfield, Williams went to St Mary’s hospital in London and had a spell at the London Welsh club. He chose to continue playing the amateur sport rather than tennis and concentrate on his medical studies, his father having told him that he would not make a living as a professional sportsman.

He was still a teenager when he was called into a Wales squad to tour Argentina in the summer of 1968. There were great expectations of the new boy John Williams, as he was then known, when he made his full Wales debut against Scotland at Murray Field the following February.

Wales had a new coach, their former captain Clive Rowlands. Barry John at fly-half scored the final try in Wales’s 17-3 win. Something was brewing in Wales and the 70s were a golden age. Once Phil Bennett, alongside Edwards, established himself as Barry John’s natural heir and once JPR was joined by the wings JJ Williams and Gerald Davies, Wales became an unstoppable force in northern hemisphere rugby. At the heart of their team was JPR, instantly recognisable with his Elvis-Presley style sideburns, flowing hair and socks often pulled down to his ankles.

What set him apart was his success as an attacking player which, allied to that rock-solid defensive play, made him a permanent fixture in the Wales side between his 1969 debut and 1981, when he retired from international rugby. He burnished his reputation on the successful British Lions tours to New Zealand in 1971 and South Africa in 1974, playing in all four Tests on each. Williams had been on a Wales tour to New Zealand in 1969 when they were humbled by the All Blacks in two Tests so the 2-1 series win by the Lions two years later came as a big relief.

In Auckland he settled the series with a long-range drop-goal in the final Test. It came as a surprise to his team-mates, but England’s Bob Hiller, his full-back understudy on that tour, had apparently joked to him that he could not consider himself a proper international until he had dropped a goal.

In South Africa three years later, Williams was heroic again as Willie John McBride’s team prevailed in an often brutal series win over the Springboks. The Lions’ call of “99” often signalled all-out punch-ups, and the sight of Williams racing upfield to thump the much larger South African lock Moaner van Heerden was a memorable one, though, as Williams confessed later it was not something of which he was particularly proud.

Williams won 55 caps for Wales, five of them as captain in 1978-79; in 1977 he was appointed MBE. In between those Lions victories he scored the final try in the Barbarians’ famous victory over the All Blacks at the Arms Park in 1973, and after retiring from the international stage played club rugby for Tondu as a back-rower until 2003, when he was 54.

He met Scilla (Priscilla) Parkin at medical school, and they married in 1973. His principal post as a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon was at the Princess of Wales hospital, Bridgend (1986–2004). Williams rarely joined the ranks of retired players who became pundits, but he was always happy to talk about a stellar career, particularly the 11 games against England, in which he always ended on the winning side.

He is survived by Scilla and their children, Lauren, Annie, Fran and Peter.

Dracolich

[Commissioned by @tar-baphon​ . The dracolich has been around for decades, first appearing as a vague plot hook in White Plume Mountain (”beyond to the land of Dragotha, the undead dragon...”) before being fleshed out in Dragon Magazine. As an Ed Greenwood creature, the original dracolich was overly complicated--if its soul couldn’t enter its own body, it could form a “pseudo-dracolich” which had some, but not all, of its original powers. Greenwood also didn’t think too much of the dracoliches in his own work; he seemed to be much more interested in the human Cult of the Dragon that makes them, and in his novel Spellfire, dracoliches are basically cannon fodder.

There are no canon dracoliches in Pathfinder, because the name is copyrighted. The ravener fills the same niche (undead dragon boss monster), but has the whole soul ward mechanic, which strikes me as being very fiddly. I’ve never run a ravener at the table, and I have avoided them for the extra paperwork. I can see both dracoliches and raveners existing in the same world, and thus have included a paragraph to that effect.]

Sample Dracolich CR 23 LE Undead This enormous dragon is clearly dead—its body is mostly skeletal, although patches of blue scales and mummified flesh are visible.

A dracolich is a dragon who has intentionally transformed themselves into an undead monster, to avoid death, as a shortcut to power, or both. Like a lich, a dracolich’s life force is tied to its phylactery, a reliquary in which it can store its soul. It requires the corpse of another draconic creature to rebuild its body, and so many dracoliches keep the bodies of their rivals as a combination of a trophy and a backup body.

Dracoliches and raveners view each other with mutual disdain and disgust. Raveners view the reliance on a phylactery to maintain undeath as a weakness, whereas dracoliches consider a soul ward to be too unreliable and inconsistent. The rituals to becoming a dracolich are longer, more expensive, and more intricate than those to become a ravener. Lawful dragons are somewhat more likely to take the path of dracolich, and chaotic ones slightly more likely to become raveners, but both types of undead can be found in either alignment.

A Dracolich’s Phylactery A dracolich’s phylactery requires the Craft Wondrous Item feat, 120,000 gp and a caster level of 11th to build. Some dracoliches build their own phylacteries, but others employ humanoid spellcasters to do this for them. This is rather shortsighted—if another creature builds the dracolich’s phylactery, the dracolich is controlled by them, as if it were just another undead they had created. Mortal spellcasters who know of this loophole do not tell the dragon they are trying to convince to pursue lichdom, of course.

Creating a Dracolich “Dracolich” is an acquired template that can be added to any evil true dragon of adult age or older (hereafter referred to as the base creature). A dracolich retains all of the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here

Hit Dice Change all of the base creature's racial Hit Dice to d8s. All Hit Dice derived from class levels remain unchanged. As an undead, a dracolich uses its Charisma to determine bonus hit points instead of its Constitution.

Saving Throws: As undead, a dracolich uses its Charisma modifier on Fortitude saves (instead of Constitution).

Defensive Abilities: A dracolich gains channel resistance +4 and all of the immunities derived from undead traits. It gains immunity to cold and electricity. Its damage reduction changes from DR/magic to DR/bludgeoning and magic. A dracolich also gains the following ability: Rejuvenation (Su) When a dracolich’s physical body is destroyed, its soul moves into its phylactery. If there is a corpse of a creature with the dragon type within 60 feet of the phylactery, the soul moves into the corpse, transforming it into a new body for the dracolich in 1d10 days. If the phylactery is destroyed, the dracolich cannot use this ability. If the phylactery is destroyed while the dracolich is rebuilding a body, the dracolich is also destroyed.

Special Attacks A dracolich loses the crush special attack if the base creature had it. Any special attacks with a DC based on Constitution become based on Charisma instead. It also gains the following special attacks: Admixed Breath (Su) A dracolich can choose at will to deal half of the damage from its breath weapon as negative energy. Gaze (Su) Range—30 ft.; Save—Will (Cha based DC); effect paralyzed 2d6 rounds. A creature that has been exposed to a dracolich’s gaze, whether it passes or fails the save, cannot be affected by the gaze of that dracolich for the next 24 hours.

Spell-like Abilities A dracolich gains control undead as a spell-like ability, usable 1/day. It uses its HD as its caster level for this SLA.

Abilities Str +4, Dex +4, Cha +6. As an undead creature, a dracolich does not have a Constitution score.

Feats A dracolich gains Toughness as a bonus feat

Skills A dracolich gains a +8 racial bonus on Perception and Stealth checks.

maggie evans was once your average sassy teenaged diner waitress in the spooky seaside town of collinsport, maine. that was before she was kidnapped by its resident vampire, held captive, tortured, and nearly turned, all for her resemblance to josette — a long dead woman for whom he pined.

there in his rotting house, barnabas collins dressed her in the woman’s clothes and told her that maggie evans was dead, and that her loved ones have already forgotten her. that she should be thrilled to become josette collins; how if she would only submit to him willingly, they could be so happy together.

when maggie resisted, he drained her blood to keep her in a fugue state, terrorized her with threats to her loved ones, and imprisoned her in a basement cell, threatening to kill her if she did not comply. 

miraculously, maggie escaped with the aid of sarah, the ghost of barnabas' little sister. after discovering a secret tunnel connecting her cell to the outside, she was found wandering the beach in tattered rags, unable to explain or even remember the full extent of what had happened to her. she was sent to windcliff sanitarium, where efforts to recover her memory proved fruitless until years later thanks to the meddling of dr. julia hoffman.  

since then, she has survived far too many abductions, brainwashings, memory wipes, and murder attempts to count. these days, maggie runs her diner with a weariness unbecoming of her young age. yet as traumatized as she is, she hides her troubles behind a kind, but wary smile.

i. the beginning and the end of the world / maggie's semi-charmed life as a waitress in collinsport prior to barnabas' introduction.

ii. fanged creatures in my dreams / this is where most of the spooky stuff happens. follows maggie after barnabas comes to town, up until she leaves the show. my main verse for ds muses.

iii. a stake in her boot and a gun in her home / big finish audio verse set after the tv show with some canon divergences, and my go-to verse for non-ds muses. maggie takes over ownership of the inn and diner, where she acts as a welcoming face for weary travelers and hosts bi-monthly paranormal investigation meetings. primarily inspired by clothes of sand, beyond the grave, the harvest of souls, and bloodlust.

While some characters from "Space Jam 2" found its way into "Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem", I was thinking that they could add more characters like Bugs Bunny as Batman, Daffy Duck as Superman, and even Lola Bunny in her Amazonian warrior outfit from Themeskira (home of Wonder Woman). Or, it could be possible to have them as part of a DC Comics DLC pack.

As far as abilities go, I know Daffy would be damage resistant (would take less damage), use laser vision, and could freeze opponents with his ice breath. As for Lola, she could use her power bracelets to deflect enemy attacks and possibly use her Lasso of Truth. As for Bugs, I don't know what he could use aside from batarangs and his carrot grapple gun.
