originality is the "aesthetic" you are looking for. individuality is the "it factor" you are looking for. from your personality, pieces, hair, cadence of voice...even down to your favorite foods or special interests. you aren't supposed to change every aspect about yourself to be more palatable for everyone you meet. that actually makes you BORING!!!

Okay, I started watching more of The Bear S2 today and I have THOUGHTS.

First, I wanna talk about Claire. It's so obvious she was added into the season to be a love interest. Sure, she's got a personality which some love interests might not have but compared to other characters in the show, hers is basic. Maybe that's the point though? Other characters in The Bear have a plethora of issues and Claire can easily be set apart from the rest of them, hence Carmy's interest in her (aside from knowing her from before). I'M GONNA ADD ONTO THIS IN THE NEXT ONE!!

Second, I understand why he and Claire's relationship is progressing so quickly. Carmy admits that he doesn't really have fun and never had friends either. Before Claire, there was Mikey helping Carmen socialize, but even then it was more for Micheal than it was him. Mikey acted as a sort of social lubricant (hate that word but it's true) for Carmen as they grew up. Michael died and Carmy receded into himself (yk what I mean), focusing on work instead of his social life or mental health. When Claire, someone he was close with back in the day, comes back into his life, he clings to her. Now, this is because she actually has a life outside of her career. She's got friends, she's fun to be around, and she can help people have fun. She's the embodiment of who Carmy never got to be, what he never got to experience. He gravitates towards Claire because she's been living her life to the fullest and Carmen didn't get a chance to do the same.

Third, I know a lot of Bear fans want Sydney and Carmen to be together. I'm still not sure how I feel abt SydCarm but we all see the chemistry between them!! If not romantic soulmates, they are 100% platonic ones. However, I can see why Carmen wouldn't be interested in being close to Sydney romantically or being closer to her than he currently is. Sydney met Carmen through his work as a Sous Chef and they bond over their love of cooking, their hopes for the restaurant. The foundation of their relationship is all work related. I admit, they have their moments were they get on a personal level with each other but mostly, they talk about work. Carmy used to work in a toxic environment and it traumatized him. The Original Beef is a much more positive place to be, but still, a contribution to his stress. So, I can imagine he'd want to be closer with his coworkers but not AS close as they could be. He's seen Syd outside of the kitchen, but it's only been to talk about work. Claire is someone from outside of work, from wayyyy back, and a nice change of pace.

Fourth, Carmen's priorities are ALLLL the way messed up. As soon as he reconnects with Claire, it was like Sydney didn't much matter. He made promise after promise to Syd, yet he never came through. I don't think I'll be able to get over how he COMPLETELY forgot about his plans to go tasting with her to help Claire move FURNITURE bro. In that exact same episode, he neglects to tell Syd, his literal business partner, that they were taking out the walls. Then, he ditches Syd again to deliver the wine license (?). Sugar was fully capable of doing this, but he probably felt bad for making her work sm, so I get it. What I don't like is how he made more plans with Claire instead of helping Sydney out?? Sug and Syd are literally carrying the restaurant on their BACKS.

Fifth, LET'S 👏🏼 TALK 👏🏼 SYD 👏🏼. My KIN, my GIRL, MY BESTIE IS STRESSINGGGG. She's supposed to be Carmen's whole business partner but she's handling most of the responsibilities that are meant to be shared between the two. It's becoming a real challenge for her because she's struggling to cook. Syd's overthinking everything and NEEDS CARMY TO DO HIS FREAKING PART. I wish I had more to say about her in that aspect but I don't 😔. However, I will say I love her relationship with food and how it's shown. The visuals during her menu tasting sequence were CHEF'S KISS 🤌🏻!!

wouldn’t it have been amazing to see gabriel not mind controlling his slave son to shut up and instead letting him speak out for once? since he’s suddenly so willing to do the right thing for him? since apparently he realizes he was wrong?? adrien can get taken out before bugnoire detransforms if the problem of him being there is the coveted identity reveal (it’s forever ruined now imo like how is anyone supposed to root for the love square after this mess but that’s a topic for another day) that they’re clearly saving for season 16 so people will still have a reason to watch the show.

if the audience is supposed to sympathize with gabriel bc he sacrificed himself so his son wouldn’t be left alone bc of the choices HE made, what’s wrong with adrien knowing both the bad and the good?? if the audience can feel bad for gabriel, apparently only a misguided family man, newly appointed father of the year™️ , why can’t adrien?? let him be conflicted about how his father terrorized a whole city for months bc he was unable to let the past go but also gave his life in the end to solve the mess HE made?? let him be sad and but also thankful that he isn’t gonna be alone and then guilty for feeling like that?? oh wait, if adrien has problems of his own then he can’t be marinette’s perfect sweet boyfriend anymore. my bad, how could i think adrien gets to have any worries and problems apart from trying and failing at being worthy of marinette’s love. adrien standing up for himself? now this finale wouldn’t suck so much if at least there was a cliffhanger of ladybug telling chat noir what really happened, bc that would mean they intended to give the lies and secrecy of the finale a purpose in s6. cause i get why she isn’t telling adrien (like where would she even start lmfao) but why does chat noir not get to know who he fought against for months?? but this not happening makes me think they had no plans for it to be brought up in s6 at all when they wrote that script and it’s truly the end they thought the agreste arc deserved lmao i would love to be wrong but i’m not feeling hopeful. 

the best (worst) part?!?! adrien not finding out his father is monarch is only one of the two enormous life changing secrets he doesn’t get to find out this season. however, i have a feeling his being a sentibeing will be brought up again and he’ll find out eventually but only after he’s been mind controlled some more since his mom, his pseudo-mom, his twin cousin and his gf don’t think it’s necessary to warn him about the importance of those rings. everyone and their mamas gonna be using those rings next season methinks lmfao

anyways fuck this show and i feel sorry for every adrien fan out there that is choosing to remain leakfree and expecting adrien to do anything in the final fight against his abusive father and literal supervillain enemy lmfao you’d think either those would give him a key role in the monarch takedown but uh why would it when marinette can do everything by herself and way better than he ever could. he’ll just take a nap instead.

i’m ngl, it really bothers me when people think feyre is watered down now or is no longer a strong character simply because she’s now a mother. as if motherhood makes a woman less than, as if motherhood takes away who you are as a person. and they act as if it’s not in feyre’s character. since the first book feyre wanted a simple life, she was at peace with the thought of her sisters marrying off and her taking care of their father as long as they all survived. she never wished for anything beyond being able to paint to her heart’s content and being able to get by without struggling. when she became fae, when she became confident in her powers and what she was capable of it didn’t make her power hungry. it wasn’t as if she was striving to rule worlds. falling in love with rhys and realizing how even as a fae your life can be taken from you in an instant, that you’re not always promised tomorrow made her want a child sooner than later.

was the whole pregnancy plot in acosf stupid, yes entirely so, and i think the whole reason for it was for nesta and feyre to rebuild their bond. i think it would have been fine for feyre to have a healthy, normal pregnancy without all the complications just to add to nesta’s development. but it’s definitely not out of character nor does it make feyre any less strong because she has a baby and because she wants to settle down and be at peace. this girl has been struggling her whole life, not with just being poor and on the brink of starvation, but as a child when she was ignored by her mother and felt like an outcast in her family. she’s at a point in her life where she feels at peace, where things are somewhat calm, where she isn’t struggling with an internal battle. and guess what, you can be a mother and still be a powerful woman. being a mother isn’t for the weak.

Ok so apparently I'm bad at micromanaging relationships because my dad isnt going to my graduation anymore after I told him his wife (who verbally and emotionally abused me as a kid and teen!) couldn't go.

Good news though! My grandad is coming with his partner and he was *actually* excited about it. A sweetheart.

so... I got sick and started watching jdramas??

I’ve been sick with covid (again, huh) and idk what possessed me but I’ve binged 5 japanese dramas in the past 5 days?!?!?! before last wednesday I don’t even remember when was the last time I had seen one. no one asked for my thoughts but here they are:

1 - koi wa tsuzuku yo doko made mo aka an incurable case of love (8/10): this drama was entertaining and lighthearted, but since it took place at a hospital it had some sadder moments as well. ngl sakura was so dumb and impulsive it was irritating sometimes, but the romance was super cute and dr. tendou’s gaze is just...wow.

2 - imawa no kuni no alice aka alice in borderland (8/10): I had to look away sometimes while watching because it got too intense and gory for my taste, but it truly deserves its great reputation. unlike another game based survival drama... this one managed to make me care about the characters, which in turn made it harder to watch certain games. yes, episode 3 wrecked me.

3 - todome no kiss aka a kiss that kills (8/10): I really liked the concept that being kissed kills you and your consciousness goes back to the past, and the morally grey main character taking advantage of that to always be one step ahead. that ending was necessary but it didn’t really leave me satisfied so I’m glad I watched todome no parallel. also, yamazaki kento looked criminally hot.

4 - hajimete koi wo shita hi ni yomu hanashi aka a story to read when you first fall in love (9/10): this drama... THIS DRAMA!!! what I wanted: a cute romance starring yokohama ryusei. what I got: an existential crisis because I saw myself in junko’s struggles (minus having to choose between three hot and caring guys). also I got teary-eyed when yuri made it into uni after all of that hard work. tbh he felt more like the main protagonist sometimes. also, I know the age gap romance is questionable to say the least but it was handled well and ffs it’s fiction!!!

5 - watashitachi wa douka shiteiru aka there’s something wrong with us (7,5/10): the first episodes were a solid combination of over the top melodrama and good couple moments but since the story didn’t have a lot of substance it dragged towards the end. tsubaki’s mom should’ve been punched multiple times for being the most annoying fictional mother that I’ve seen in a while. overall it was entertaining and the show looked really pretty with all of those food shots and scenes of yokohama ryusei wearing a kimono.

Every night I tell my self I sleep before 12:00, AT LEAST before 1:00, and every night, I fail and go to sleep somewhere between 3-4am. I DIDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. Sure, I went to sleep between 12:00-1:00 maybe ~2 if I really slept late. But NEVER HAVE I REGULARLY GONE TO SLEEP AT AROUND 3:00am-5:00am.

Anyways it's ~1:00 which is not ideal but better than fucking 4:00am so I'll take the win. Good Night everyone
