I didn't play yet at the new MCL Halloween event but I saw the illus and I like them overall. My favourite one is probable Rayan's one, whereas my least fave would be Priya's. I don't understand why her illu is so different from the others and why it doesn't have this gloomy atmosphere… Like, Priya is cute in it but the illu doesn't scream "halloween".

The event seems good but as usual, my main complaint about these events are: where is freaking Eric. Where is he Beemoov. Why can't he be on these events whereas he is a love interest as much as the others and we can MARRY him at the end of MCL. I really don't understand why they keep trying to pretend he is not a crush. Like, okay, he is not the most popular and some people hate his guts because the whole cheater thing (believe me, even if I like him a lot, I am annoyed too by the fact that we were FORCED TO cheat in order to be with him. I'd rather have break up with the previous LI AND THEN go with him. But you know, Beemoov loooooves the drama) but it is not a feasible excuse. Some people hate Priya or Rayan or Hyun. Heck, some people even hate Nathaniel and Castiel. So, why is he not one of the options during the events?? I really would want to know. (And for those saying that it would be a spoiler: Beemoov doesn't care about that. They put Thia or Violette whereas they are kind of "spoilers" in their events. And it is been more than one year since the end of Love Life, so I think that most people know about the whole Eric thing.)

The only good reason I can think of is it'd ask more work for the scenarist/illustrator of these events, to add a sixth one and they have deadlines to maintain. (even if, we already saw in Chino stories on instagram that these events are prepared months in advance, I remember last year seeing stories where she talked about preparations about the Easter event whereas it was like december or january…).

I am also disappointed by the fact there are no Lysander, Kentin nor Armin during those events. Especially Armin with the theme of this one… He'd have LOVED it. But I see more reasons as to why they're not here: once again, it'd mean more work (from 5 scenarios/illustrations to 8) and the whole AL is supposed to happen during the university life of Candy whereas the others happen four (or five? can't remember) after her master degree. So it'd be more difficult to have a coherence in the whole event, especially if secondary characters intervene (like the Easter event that we had this year). I think this is one of the reasons as to why they won't put our three loved boys into these events (besides the more work thing, which is surely the main reason tbh). And so, I can understand these reasons but not for Eric. I'd really would want to know the reasons behind it.

Am I the only one who doesn’t find the show that entertaining anymore?

There’s so much going on and they keep adding more and more. I’m confused by a lot, it’s tiring trying to keep up with everything they’re doing. Everything Just feels unnecessary, like Monty coming out, don’t get me wrong that’s amazing and I love the gator nonetheless. But if this was planned to happen at this time or not, it’s horrible timing. Because now it just feels like the show’s losing its spark.

The fandom hit the peak and now it’s falling over into shambles and they keeping adding to this to try and revive the fandom again. It’s depressing knowing that the show I always looked forward to watching is starting to fall. It seems like the downfall happened when they introduced/Re-Introduced KC. We Could’ve just focused on Eclipse and the Bloodmoons, or having chill VRChat videos with the brothers like the other shows, because the other shows have videos and they aren’t all constantly drama, drama, drama.

They’ll actually have happier things happen. Like Gregory apparently going Emo, Glamrock Freddy getting a new car, Freddy preparing for his baby, and Glamrock Bonnie and Glitchtrap looking at houses in the beginning.

At this point watching the show everyday feels more like a task rather than something I watch for entertainment, I enjoy the plot of the other shows better, like with Ennard being a Problem for both the Glamrock Freddy and C.B show, and the Gregory and Roxanne show.

i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.

as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."

Enough random notes that have a written story on them as environmental storytelling, explore the space, get crazier with it.

You move into a house and aw cute, it has the kids height on the walls but you notice there's a three foot difference in height between measurements, you check the date, they're a month apart. The final measurement is on the ceiling. It's dated two days ago.

You're part of a recovery team that have finally found a stranded ship, they were found too late and have all passed a long time ago. They all died of starvation. You enter their storeroom, it's filled with food. In the dining hall you find the tables laden with perfectly fine looking breads, cakes, cured meats, jams, candies. Your medic says all the people sitting at the table didn't eat a Thing.

You wake up in an apocalypse. You can't find anyone at all as you wander the streets but you do hear faint music playing from somewhere. You stumble into a supermarket, to see all the aisles still full, except for the shelf that was full of ear plugs, which look to be the only thing that was looted.

Like there's light, sound, props. Having a street where every house is decimated except for One. Landing on a planet known for having No Water and a plant is growing and you don't know where it could have possibly gotten moisture from but you can't find the citizens Anywhere.

I'm sorry, I'm just kinda over the "graffiti on the wall to show the bad guy is around". That's not environmental storytelling that's just normal story. Show me I'm in the villains territory by the rain suddenly cutting out above me as I'm driving, even though it's meant to be raining all night. I park the car and step out, and realise the constellations are Wrong, until I see they're Not constellations, they're the blinking lights of a massive ship-

I Will stop now because everytime I go to write a sentence it devolves into another prompt but I'm just saying we have a Lot of senses, engage them, show me the Environment in environmental storytelling.

I do joke about Pangur, but she’s honestly not the worst representative of her breed!

granted, she’s pudgy and toothless, and fluffy enough with age that her fur hides her body type, but that’s not abnormal for a twelve year old Oriental Longhair. here's a younger Pangur, for reference:

there’s also a diversity of appearances even within the breed. for instance, European cats have horizontal ears and a great domed head, with a heavier coat:

moderate cats have higher-set ears and rounded eyes (photo from Balilas Balinese):

and American show types are stylized, but in a more elegant direction than the European (photo from Kattalyst Cattery):

Kattalyst features heavily in Pangur's pedigree on one side, and Balilas Balinese on the other, so she has traits from both types. but I wouldn't say she's a bad example of the breed overall - she's just an old girl, with all that entails!

A new transliteration of the Rain World scripts

An update to this. I am the original creator of that interpretation, and to be fair I'm a little tired of not getting proper credit for it.

The entirety of this was done by comparing the 'alphabets' to our own, and assigning phonetic values from there. The logographs were interpreted similarly, but with Mandarin 'etymology' instead. I wrote...quite a bit! About it! You can read the individual interpretations for each symbol in the doc below:

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that child actors should have to take stage names. 

Like, I don’t think they should do interviews, I don’t think they should do red carpets, I don’t think we should bring them into celebrity culture at ALL.

I know it doesn’t avoid all of the problems with it but - as much as I dreamed of being discovered as an actor as a young child - as an adult with minor internet fame and a few roles under my belt, I am so FUCKING grateful I never was.

Having people see me and recognise me and approach me in public with my deadname and my skinny, vulnerable seven-year-old tomboy self, or that spotty, chubby, awkward teenage phase, or even the first few years of university would have destroyed me. 

I’m barely famous by any metric and it weirds me out completely now, let alone when I was stupid and sixteen. I had someone casually comment on a Live (which I don’t know why I do them, because I hate doing them) that they’d overheard me outside what they assumed to be my place of work - a place I was about to apply to work - talking about how I hated having to be watching myself constantly and be aware that sometimes people now know who I am and it was very disturbing. 

And I chose this. I didn’t go into this blind - and while I never imagined it getting to this stage - I had some idea of what this would entail. 

Some wide-eyed nine year old doesn’t. 

Fake names for child actors is the minimum.

So, the Hazbin Hotel official trailer is out for good this time ! What exactly happens in it ?

Well basically the entire plot of the series.

This is barely a joke. They spoiled the entire series in a single trailer. Boy am I excited to see what just played out in a 2 minute video in a much longer, way less funny way for 40 dollars.

First of all I'd like to comment that the Alastor on the cover of the show, aside from just looking... Not good, is also directly traced from the announcement of his redesign.

Which is just hilarious. His facial shape and emo hair were just too hard to learn, they had to trace over the image they already got him down in to draw him again. And this isn't even the first time they do that, because they already did it with Cherry Bomb in the first set of promotional images they dropped before the trailer. The first is just an image of her reference sheet directly placed over the background, second is her in-show appearance from the trailer. This is going to be So Good. (/sarcasm)

Secondly, any and all intrigue and momentum this show might've had has fallen completely flat on its face thanks to this trailer, which tells you point by point exactly what is going to happen in the series. Which include, but isn't limited to:

- Charlie having a reunion/reconciliation with her dad, Lucifer, AND ALSO a revelation for his wings, which I feel is a much bigger deal than it is being presented as. (Without any sighting of Lilith herself, by the way.)

- Charlie meeting with Adam and Lute in heaven, and them blowing her off for her ideas. (Adam's first words in this series are going to be "Fuck", because that's how you know he's an angel)

- A close-up for a seraph character, which... okay. Great way to build intrigue for what Heaven is like in Hazbin Hotel. I mean, the subtlety here is just off the charts, right ? (THE VALUES ARE GOING TO MAKE ME CLAW MY FACE OFF)

- Hell is going to go to war against Heaven... and this is revealed in the trailer-? The trailer for the series it's going to happen in ? In the first minute ?? This is so damn lame. I mean, if you're going to just show the audience everything that happens before anything has a chance to be processed, next time show the ending in its entirety why don't you.

- But that's still a lame ass plot point. Your idea of a morally complex, subtle story that deals with mortality is just "EVIL GUYS VS GOOD GUYS BUT WITH AN #EPIC TWIST !! THE DEMONS ARE GOOD AND THE ANGELS ARE BAD !!"? That's the entire premise of your show, and you show everything it is going to delve into in TWO MINUTES IN ONE TRAILER ??

- Huskerdusk is canon I guess. Hooray. Gay men visible on the screen that's so cool and never seen before. Not like the other series was entirely focused about mlm relationships and this series has a sapphic main couple for you to explore. Crazy.

- Vox and Valentino are going to appear and I guess be major antagonisrs in the story.

All of these events are happening in the series and you get spoiled for Every Single One of them. Instead of clever foreshadowing or subtle hints at what might be built up from looks into smaller plot points, you just watch 2 minutes of what I assume is 2 whole seasons condensed. That's not a good thing, because now I am going to be completely unimpressed when something major DOES happen in the series, since I know beforehand that everyone just keeps living to do More Stuff Later. The audience has no time to build up expectations for what happens next because everything is just happening Here and Now. It's very underwhelming to say the least.

Third, the voices just... don't sound very good. Angel is out of place, Alastor is never going to live up to what he used to be before (I don't know why his filter is weaker now– it makes it so much less unique), Husk is good but I know damn well he's going to be underutilized unless its for shipping's sake, Vaggie is just whatever, and Charlie sounds like every "Chipper princess who wants to do good" character out there, so much so that when she was singing I was reminded instantly of Rapunzel from the Tangled series way more than the show's actual pilot. Other characters either just don't talk enough or sound too generic to be properly critiqued.

For so much spent on broadway professional voice acting, you'd think they'd have more of a clue on how to Voice Act, or at least be given more direction in how everyone sounds like instead of just Saying Words in a way that is Similar Enough to the old cast.

This isn't to demerit the voice actors– They're all talented people on their own, just watching one of their performances on literally anything else should give you a good idea on that– But their acting here just doesn't...cut it. There's no feeling of authenticity, because all they're doing is an impression of a cast that once was, instead of bringing their own energy to the table and breathing new life into these characters. And it Sucks dude, because you KNOW this isn't what they sound like and you KNOW it could've been way better if they were just allowed to do something new for this show, but ultimately it all hinges on the writers and directors for it... and those people are, uh, not doing a great job.

And finally, the animation. Boy, I have a lot of thoughts.

This show is already infamous for having Way Too Red and for the values not being too good, all things I've said previously about Helluva Boss, but do not worry ! Instead of red, this show is Way Too Purple, and the values aren't just kinda bad, they're straight up just Awful. I don't want to crap all over the artists and animators that worked on it, they're just making do with what they have, but... lord.

This last one is slightly less egregious, but the sky mixing with the city and obscure the light of the actual tower, which is THE CENTRAL FOCUS ON THE IMAGE, just looks really... sloppy, which in turn makes the whole image seem even more disorganized. There are not nearly enough dark tones to accomodate for the amount of mids and lights, and so everything just blends together in the most disorienting possible way. Like, Vaggie, who is a MAIN CHARACTER, is on that first image. Did you see her? Because if it wasn't for the cut preceding that scene, I deadass wouldn't have noticed her there.

I don't know. I don't like being pessimistic about things before they come out no matter how much it the trailers don't convince me they'll be good, but this is just really amateurish. The entire plot is revealed, the colors aren't good, the voice acting sounds whatever at best and the animation itself just feels like it was crunched to oblivion. Not a good outlook on everything so far, but hey, maybe if we all go into it pretending not to have seen the trailer, it'll be a Little Better, right? Right.

Man, I can't wait to see the direction this train heads. Hopefully not down a hill.
