Although his mother (currently my favorite Highlander) knows me well and is always very friendly, all cows with calves can be dangerous. They are good, caring, protective mothers. Keeping distance is best. That's why their behavior sometimes surprises me. A few times I have seen mothers patiently care for and suckle their calves, and then suddenly walk away resolutely. As if they were saying, ‘That's enough, now I'm hungry, leave me alone, I'm going to graze’. And then they really walk a long way, out of sight. Strange. But good for me, because then I have all the time to take pictures, and I don't have to worry if the calf comes close. Though I keep looking around. Cows also protect calves that are not their own. This beautiful little bull hadn't learned yet that he should stay away from people. The chance that I will be able to take pictures of him as freely as here in the near future is very small. I think I'm going to call him 'Panda'.
