Its November fucking first, Halloween is over, the ground is covered in snow and I've been rehearsing for the christmas show for a month so there will no longer be any stopping me

Ok so best laid plans of mice and men yadda yadda I did not in fact complete whumptober in time, but fear not, I'm still filling all the requests, I've got a lot written, just be patient and it'll all come hopefully by the end of November.

Related to that, I promised that since whumptober was to be all batman related, I'd run something with similar rules for all the non-batman fandoms I'm in when I had time to refamiliarize with those source materials. Originally I said December, with Winter Whumpterland in mind, but as much as I love everyone's ideas, I need to return to my own creative roots for a while after this batch, so instead I'm looking at taking those requests for either Januwhump or Trop-A-Thon (run by amonthofwhump), based on my school schedule. Januwhump would have 15 days of prompts + Alt, Trop-A-Thon is one week with 4 optional prompts per day. If y'all want something more like whumptober, 30 days with a theme and 3 options per day, you'll have to wait for June of Doom. Please drop me a line here or on AYW 31 to say which option you'd like best

Between now and whenever that is however comes my favorite holiday (like literally 10% of my fics are christmas themed... oops) along with HOLIDAY BREAK FROM SCHOOL WHICH MEANS WRITING TIME! Now I usually dabble in some amount of Winter Whumpterland bc I can't help myself when it comes to hurting the batboys it seems, BUT.

Last year (and the year before, only I chickened out lol) I sort of tried to make my own start up event for Christmas called Christmas Countdown Playlist, because music is my favorite thing about my favorite holiday. This time I wanted to reach out (since I... know people? Am tumblring?) And ask whether anyone would be interested in me making an annual Thing of this event. The gist would be

12 days of prompts all based on christmas songs or lyrics

Still open to any faith or nonfaith, just that xmas songs are what inspire my generalized prompts

finish reviewing 4 pages of mol bio module 3 ✅ (😬 let's hope i remember it. out of all the courses i've taken this semester, i have the least solid background knowledge for this one...i haven't repeated the info enough times over a long-enough time period to be sure it'll stick yet 😅 at least for biochem, i have some "pegs" of solid background knowledge from physiology to hang the new content on...)

💌 uuuuugggggghhhhhhhh lately not been feeling too good bc the dictionary of lost words is depressing ("poignant" as @zzzzzestforlife described it) and it makes me feel lonely along with school and whenever this happens (or i otherwise feel like a mess) i get in a philosophical mood. i have been in this mood for at least a month now (before i started the book but after midterm season). it used to only last about a week or 2 (every month, mind you 😂). i can't wait to take philosophy so i can hopefully fix my brain by practicing being more rational and critical about *waves hands* whatever things my mind drifts to, to try to piece myself back together (which sometimes pulls me back apart with an existential crisis) 😅 (i also think the fact that some of the same thoughts i'm thinking have also been thought many times by others would be some comfort 🙂) but i think i'll only be able to take it the year after next bc of other (technically higher priority) subjects (for my field 🧬🦠) which...in better days i would be really excited about. i comfort myself by thinking the christmas break will restore me.

💌💌 also i'm not going to officially finish the dictionary of lost words anymore. i've slowly been reading the ending out of order so i basically know what happens and i saved the final major happy event for last. my final thoughts are that i want a relationship like esme's and gareth's but i want it to last longer than theirs did 😭 that's it. i can't deal with this depressing stuff anymore. maybe someday i'll come back to it, but right now i cannot. sometimes i ask myself why i feel so fragile these days...i'm not sure i know why... sometimes i get a feeling that smth is missing, but it will eventually pass as i fill my cup in other ways.

💌💌💌 recently discovered this channel and loving their hyperspecific titles that tell me exactly what vibes i should expect from the music. i especially like the chemistry playlist for studying (hot take but i'm not a huuggee fan of ludovico einaudi, but for studying, it's okay) and the playlist for "making your brain shut up"

so many things good lord. do you want specific wips or what. Its mostly history and british facts but also some good medical shit and mythological creatures. for example; did you know that titanic made two other stops before heading out onto the atlantic? once was on the coast to france to pick up people, and the ship was so big they had to row people out on dingys so they could come in. the second was RIGHT before they headed out, in queenstown ireland, and people both came on and jumped off. so. yeah. blame tea for that. first chapter comes out christmas eve 👍

25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?

So much you have no idea. the entire 1941 fic is fucking me UPPPPP every time I read that fic over to keep writing I get punched all over the again and fucking perish. Eugh. Hi Em! I haven’t had a lot of eggnog but I have fairly decent memories of it. However I was thinking of picking some up at the store a few weeks back so now I’ll have to give it another shot! Also I would definitely want reputation merch too: I dream of the snake ring and the end game peach hoodie.

hello! hope ur doing well! i love reading ur answers and getting to know more abt u sm! its just amazing how days go by so quickly and busily like u blink and suddenly its 4 of them passed already! apologies! unlike u, im still infant-level fan to kpop (got pulled by skz) and being as hyperfocused on skz as i was, dont know any other kpop groups like i do skz sadly, but i do love music! i love shinee's stuff sm!!! and my best friend really likes xdinary heroes so im getting into them too! and txt just have some of the funnest bsides so their discography gets scoured too lmao. i just dont know any grps members or anything well, but yeah! like u said, lots of good music raining down. i will never understand ppl's bias against non native language songs-esp when they like english stuff and its not their mother tongue!-bcs kpop has such a range. so many interesting sounds, artists and genres!! from past year ive really found myself drawn to soft-ish(?) k-indie/rock a lot! u asked for newer artists (ik so less abt bands. this is a personal failure</3) some of my favorites i think are: lee go do, mingginyu, nerd connection! akmu, heo hoy kyung, se seo neon, etc etc just lots of solo lowkey artists and songs lmao. there's smth abt the lapping continuity of soft sounds and forming of language like that which enthralls me a lot. i really adore loud and wonderful girl group songs as well!! i listen to girl groups a whole lot more than bgs which is surprising bcs i love skz, but their immaculate energy and style! really love aespa, rv, loona! stayc, twice, billie, izone and others! do u listen to lucy the band? their stuff's really fun as well! i rambled sm lmao but yeah. music is so exciting in so many aspects its amazing. i love listening to a lot of languages and genres too! mostly bcs my brain's engagement is a pinball game and i am keeping it amused with fifty different things at the same time. which is why i just have a lot of recs for songs but none for artists bcs i collect and find interesting stuff but get obsessed easily, which makes it difficult to get into every artist particularly. would love to trade playlists or songs once this secret santa is over if ud be comfortable with that! Aaw, thank you for telling me the story of how you got into 10cc! I've had a similar experience (the "oops guess I have developed a crush now I'm obsessed-bit). That's lovely how they have given you a new perspective. I'm gonna try to remember to listen to that album in full at some point soon!

I'm generally into '60s-'70s rock, but Beatles are definitely in the top! I also really love Led Zeppelin - they were on my radar for a long time (especially since I watched That '70s Show already in my teens and they come up a lot there), but didn't really start listening until a few years ago and fell in love. As I'm typing I'm listening to London Grammar. I seldom get into contemporary music on a deeper level, but I randomly came across them a few summers ago, started having them on in the background while I was writing, and before I knew it they were on my regular playlists. They're really good for when you're a bit down of melancholy, and want something to resonate with you.

In the spirit of the season, do you have a favourite Christmas song?

Ofc!! and i hope you end up listening to Deceptive Bends, it would make me very happy!! trust me it won’t disappoint ☺️ i wanna get more people into 10cc because they’re SEVERELY underrated. i also recommend listening to their first 4 albums: their first album self-titled “10cc”, Sheet Music, The Original Soundtrack and How Dare You? I think you’ll really appreciate their sound and just how unique each of them are as artists. I think they may be the only band (that I know of anyway) where each member has a vocal part in every song. I’ve learned to distinguish each band member’s voice just from listening to those first 4 albums lol as a group, i really think they have a distinct sound. Sadly, they only made 4 albums as a group but the music they made after their split is just as fantastic. A little background on post-og 10cc, Eric and Graham carried on as 10cc and made more music under the 10cc name while the other two songwriters Kevin and Lol went on to make music under the name Godley & Creme (check out Godley & Creme’s music as well if you’re interested! a little bit on the avant garde side but still a very interesting duo to listen to). i think both songwriting teams were just as successful if not achieved more success despite the breakup but in my opinion, i don’t think they ever got over the breakup and deep down, i know they wanted to get back together badly (trust me they tried) but i think they were just afraid that things would go awry again if they ever did get back together :(( but, i’m still manifesting that someday soon they will surprise the world with a reunion tour, and if that ever happens you best believe i will be at some of their shows front and centre!

glad to hear you like The Beatles as well 😊 i’ve been a huge Beatle nut for years, and i consider them my gateway into classic rock. OMG funny that you mention Led Zeppelin bc they’re another group I’ve been following for as long as I’ve been a Beatles fan! I’ve been listening to Zeppelin off and on for years and I know this is gonna sound silly but, i only get back into them bc of a band member lmao i started out liking Zeppelin bc of Jimmy Page and then i fell off the bandwagon for a while until i fell in love with Robert Plant lmao. not long after, i fell off the bandwagon AGAIN and it wasn’t until maybe a few years ago that i got into them again bc of John Bonham but then i forgot about them for another few years until JUST LAST WEEK when i stumbled upon a TV interview featuring Led Zeppelin’s MVP and in my opinion, their most drop dead gorgeous member, the beautiful John Paul Jones 😍 honestly, he might be the reason that i stay obsessed with Zeppelin and i’m happy to share that he’s the ONLY person who has finally convinced me to start learning bass guitar 😭 not only is he the most stunning Zeppelin member, but i found out he’s also a very talented multi-instrumentalist (like my Eric 😭) and i really admire that about him ✨ he and Eric are such inspirations to me as a musician 🥰

I don’t believe I’ve heard of London Grammar, but now that you’ve brought them up, I might have to check them out!

And as far as my favourite Christmas tunes. the ones i often like to replay are Little Saint Nick by The Beach Boys, Rockin Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee and Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms.

4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you?

i wish i could answer this accurately but literally zero clue...no thoughts. i think it was generally quiet and studious, could be better at maths (but why did all the teachers get annoyed at me for not understanding maths!!) but otherwise i have very much blocked out junior school from my memory

12. name of your favorite playlist?

my most recent playlist: i am yours i am the knife bc its got some drama to it. also a fair bit of mitski and car seat headrest which i'm always here for. also have to mention your an a24 production playlist...put it on every time i was on bluetooth over christmas time...top notch vibes xo

honourable mention to my hot dyke summer playlists (three editions so far), which i listen to so much over summer that i can't ever play the songs in them again

96. desktop background?

oh oh! it's a photo of the sunset in byron bay that i took back in 2016 on a family holiday. there's a surfer silhouetted in the sun as they walk up the beach and the sky is crazy orange. i was trying out photography at the time and it didn't go far but honestly...this photo is pretty amazing considering i barely understood how to use my camera
