mafia au you say?
I made a moodboard for this au idea before posting anything about the au, so here's the gist!
OKAY.
So. Two sections of sorts. The Before Times and the Now. With an eight year gap in between. The factions have changed over that time. Before times, the majority of the city was occupied by the Arctic Empire led by the Crowfather, but when a rookie cop, Dream, commits himself to a war on organized crime (for reasons unknown) once an attempt is made on the Crowfather's son's life, Phil breaks down, takes his kid and his ally Technoblade, and flees. In that power vacuum left behind, Schlatt takes over with ruthless abandon. The Before Times have a few character focused prequel fics at present, but I'll have more plot stuff for it later!
Tumblr media
(I'll put my shitty maps in here too for reference) (Yes I called the region under government control pig land. ACAB and all that.)
Tumblr media
So at the beginning of the fic, the Empire has been divided up between Schlatt and the Badlands, with a lot of violence over some turf in the middle, but the real prize is West of the river, a much more upper class part of town which the cops keep careful control over. The arrows indicate borders shifting/where each group hopes to expand. The only other party of relevance is Puffy, who has a small strip along the docks from a deal with the Badlands, she is the one who runs all the drugs and booze in the city (city is in a prohibition type beat) after she quit the force.
The plot will start out with a few bangs, people going missing and dying and meeting and betraying each other, fun stuff like that, but I don't want to spoil anything so I'll talk characters instead– some of them will be important enough to have stuff from their pov, especially earlier on the list, but I don't know for sure yet who I'll focus on!
Tubbo: Just turned 18. Son of a mob boss. (Schlatt. I am sorry.) He's a ruthless little genius, but he hates the way things are run right now. His dad has put Tubbo and everyone he cares about in danger. Schlatt has made enemies, behaved recklessly, but it's Tubbo who will be left to pick up the pieces and try to keep everyone safe. The moment he can, he's going to change things for the better and strike down anyone who gets in his way. His friends include Tommy, the proud street rat, Niki and Ranboo, sister and brother who run a bakery/speakeasy together, and tentatively Schlatt's lawyer Quackity (they're foxhole buddies. friendship means survival)
Quackity: Schlatt's lawyer. Has an... interesting relationship with the guy (ew) but he's got a Plan. He's gonna get the fuck out of there and start up a casino with his boyfriend Karl (who sells counterfeit watches lol I had to) but you can't just up and leave the mob. So he's keeping his cards close to his chest for now, and when he sees an opportunity, he'll get out. He'd never admit it, but part of why he's sticking around is because he won't leave Tubbo alone with that piece of shit.
Sapnap: Grew up in the mob life because his father, BBH, led the Badlands, but left it the moment he turned 18 because he didn't want to live a life of crime. He wanted to help people, so he became a cop (please laugh. laughter is appropriate. Sapnap starts out wearing clown shoes.) it ended messy with his dad, as he basically completely cut him off. He joined the police academy with his best friend Dream and never looked back. (he joined eight years before around the same time everything changed.) Karlnapity is endgame.
Sam: Used to be a top dog in the Badlands before he pussied out– I mean had a moral crisis. Police captain after Puffy went awol. very canon-esque. Strong moral compass, but also such a fucking idiot. He lives on the nicer side of town with his boyfriend Ponk. Who works at Eret's museum and volunteers in the evening to give medical care to the homeless (aww isn't that sweet)
Ponk: Ponk is a fence who runs their operations out of Eret's basement. They're also Schlatt's doctor and sneak over there after dark to try and keep the stupid bastard alive. But they want out. They're tired of lying to Sam and working for someone they find morally reprehensible. So they make a deal with the Badlands– if they give them a way to get into the police station without breaking in/getting caught, the Badlands will protect them from Schlatt when they leave. So they steal Sam's keys (police files? haven't decided yet). One more job, then they go straight. For Sam. They're well liked across borders, but will that be enough to keep them safe?
Wilbur: Son of the Crowfather. Grew up in the city alongside the Empire kids, kids Phil took in, Fundy, Jack, Niki, Ranboo, along with a less close... rivalry? friendship? with the Badland's kid Sapnap. Then all of the sudden things got bad and when he was 18 or 19 his dad took him and ran, leaving all of his friends behind. (The other Empire kids were safe, they had no known affiliation with the Arctic Empire, Fundy squared away to become an accountant, Jack had already sort of separated him from the empire and had a job at a hotel, and Niki had her bakery to support herself and Ranboo.). Wilbur, going firmly against everything his father taught him, wanted to return to the city a new man, a musician who was down for a scheme or two, but definitely not the son of a mob boss. His first night back he runs into two people: his old friend Sapnap, who has degraded himself into working for the man, and Tommy. This annoying random kid who was kind enough to help him find Niki's speakeasy– The Secret City.
Tommy: street rat. refuses to tie himself down to an organization and heavily frowns upon it, tolerating Tubbo's family ties, but refusing to join anyone. He likes the freedom of it all, even if it gets lonely at times. He used to work with his buddy Eryn, the two of them planning pickpocketing hits and breaking into hotel rooms to sleep for the night, until Eryn decided he wanted to be a part of something more and joined up with the Badlands. He still spends most nights breaking into hotel rooms, his favorite being one which belongs to Jack Manifold, who hates his guts but also has never been able to catch him until he's already sneaking down the fire escape. 17 at the start of the fic. Helps this stupid tall fuck with a guitar find Niki's place because he's just ASKING to get mugged. Has no idea they'll one day consider each other brothers.
(the rest are more minor characters but boy do i have a lot for them lol)
Puffy: Basically in the Before Times she was the police captain that trained Sapnap and Dream when they were rookies. Her son Foolish is taken hostage, because ofc the mob want the police captain in their pocket, but she doesn't know who took him. The rest of the department/higher ups basically go "ya we can't do anything until they make demands good luck lol" so she goes. Okay. Fuck you guys. And takes her and her two little rookies to go look for him. The Arctic Empire are the most powerful players on the board at the time, but it's not them. The Badlands offer to help Puffy get her son back if she agrees to come work for them. She does. The police force basically were gonna leave Foolish to die. First she plays both sides, keeping an eye on Sapnap for Bad, undermining the police force, but Quackity the lawyer owes her a favor and helps her retire peacefully when the pigs start to catch on. She works for the Badlands for a few years, becomes a drug lord, starts her own little empire. Becomes the Godfather. (get it. bc Foolish is her son. the Godfather.)
Dream: A driven little bastard. In the before times, he and Sapnap joined the academy together. For reasons I will not yet explain, Dream makes it his one fucking mission to get all organized crime out of their city. He's ruthless. He's not committed to justice, he's committed to victory, damn whoever gets caught in the crossfire. He is supposed to play a major role as a villain, but I might make his whole deal more off-screen/reduced if I can.
Badboyhalo: was the second most powerful mob boss in the Empire days. Proud of his work, until his son left the family and basically went "you're dead to me." Bad had a crisis of faith. He cares about his family more than he does power, so he gives up some of his territory to Puffy, and asks Skeppy to run things for him. He's going to open up a diner (with a hint of money laundering ofc) and live a Normal Life in the hopes that one day Sapnap will come back to him. His peaceful retirement is an illusion. He could return to his former glory on a whim, but he'll wait for Sapnap for now.
Phil and Technoblade: Not too much to say here, they won't be active for the majority of the story, but Philza is The Crowfather. Insanely powerful. Even after he left the city to take over another one, he left behind some of his Crows to keep on eye on things (crows are people/spies, not birds lol) and Technoblade. He is Phil's enforcer and his right hand. He wears a pig skull mask because he's a notorious cop killer.
Eret: RICH. Runs the museum. Partially blind. Gives off an aura of being naively above all of the crime running rampant in the city. But she knows Everything. She is fiercely protective of her staff, which includes Ponk, museum curator, HBomb, her chauffeur/general guide, Fundy who runs the museum finances (aw an accountant just like his mom), and Foolish who has no idea what he's doing but Eret hired him as a favor to his dad Puffy.
Eryn: Was a street rat running around with Tommy, left him for a few years to go sailing with a crew as a little cabin boy. Came back with some cool scars and stories, tried to work with Tommy again but found he still wanted to be a part of a 'crew' of some sort, so he joined the Badlands. Now a spy with... let's say limited loyalties. (Tommy will always come first, but other than that...)
Niki: runs a bakery which is mostly a front for her speakeasy. Ranboo isn't really her brother, but she looked after him when she was alone on the streets until Philza took them under his wing. She just wants to make bread and a safe haven, but her speakeasy is right in the middle of highly fought over territory. She's used to being threatened or bullied by idiots trying to claim her fucking business. She doesn't blame Tubbo for his father's bullshit when he comes to collect dues, but she will keep this place running or burn down the city with it. Her speakeasy is open to everyone. No conflict, no sides, no guns allowed.
Ranboo: he's just a shy little dude. Didn't ask to be involved in this shit, but when one of your best friends ends up being the son of a mob boss you gotta roll with the punches. He's got a scar and a not-so-mysterious backstory.
Skeppy: this man is terrifying. A force to be reckoned with. When Bad stepped down, he stepped up. Has a soft spot for Bad and Bad alone, even if he doesn't understand him giving up everything for his son, he wants to help him and has the power to do so. (until, on the night of the first chapter, he mysteriously goes missing...)
Foolish: Found trouble in his youth, violent troublemaker in his early teens, but his dad is super protective of him from that one time he got kidnapped when he was like 14. He's a bit clueless about how the every day world works as he went from an absent father to basically being bubble-wrapped 24/7, so he starts working at Eret's place. He's buddies with Ponk and Eret, loves his job at the museum, not very good at it yet. Has a slight propensity for violence that his dad has made him outgrow, but will protect his friends.
Jack: Runs a hotel. Former Empire kid. Will lose his mind (he's moments away from Snapping) and end up helping Tubbo with his whole deal. Cares a lot about his friends. Sometimes wants to strangle Tommy.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head! And this was me trying to avoid spoilers lmao.
If you managed to read all this, thank you!!! I am always happy to talk about this au and maybe even some sneaky plot stuff but right now nothing is written yet! I am trying to figure out how I'm going to write it, I might write a bunch of fics each centered around different characters, but chapter titles with correspond to where in the timeline it takes place. Something like that, bc I don't think I can make this into one huge fic, and if folks are interested in a specific character/storyline, they can pick and choose what they read!
But again, i already have many wip I am in the middle of. But god does this au tempt me.
***UPDATE***
Part 1 of the series is now posted!

I think it’s time we as a community bring back some past headcanons/fandom ideas that have hence been discarded such as:
-Misferns (specifically Ranboo and Niki and Ranboo and Fundy sibling dynamics)
-half enderman Niki
-Starinnit and the theory that Clara is Tommy’s mom
-Sam and Tommy father son dynamic
-Tubbo’s horns coming from Schlatt’s influence
-tftsmp theories (or just tftsmp in general please god I miss it so much)

God(hcs)
c!multiple x god!reader
notes: the reader will be the god of death to make it a little bit more spicy :). c!punz’s pronouns are he/they, i’m not sure about the others, but i know theirs. also why does ranboo take away my gender? /j
word count: 1,672
warnings: arson, violence, cursing, yelling, mention of death, voices in technos part, spoilers for wilbur if you haven’t watch tommy’s lore stream, revival for wilbur, making a religion, time travel, egg, prison, stealing, anarchy, playful name calling
Sapnap
so obviously y’all would be a great match :)
you have creative mode, so when sap would ask you to give him a lighter and tnt, you would GLADLY give it
also, can we talk about him being a nether hybrid
fire squared
like fires left and right, hide your mom and your children in your house lol /j
but besides the whole arson thing, you favor him above anyone else on the server
like if he asks for diamond blocks, well here’s a whole inventory of it, also, here’s some ancient debris and some netherite
if someone asked, you would probably grant them with poison and curses, just because you can’t be “unloyal” to snapchat
wouldn’t be lonely anymore
Dreamwastaken
this duo is less chaotic, but chaotic enough where people avoid you
he still asks you for stuff, but most of the time, you don’t give him it because he annoys you too much about giving stuff
“hey y/n/n, can i pretty please get some emerald blocks.”
“nope bitch, get it yourself.”
but sometimes, you grant him some op shit, when it’s your good day
“because i’m being nice, here’s some diamond, now, don’t ask me again you little piss baby.”
“shut your trap y/n.”
“or what homeless teletubby, what are you going to do to a god like me?”
“you hang out with technoblade to much.”
Georgenotfound
maybe the least chaotic duo
you guys keep on relaxing and relaxing until the point where you don’t do anything
he barely asks you for anything, but only when it’s really really important, like a house or build
especially when he was building his little cottagecore house, he needed your godly presence to help
“y/n, what should the roof be made of?”
“i suggest brick, it makes it more aestheticy if that makes any sense.”
also barely any drama or tea with you guys
never arguing and never betraying each other is a must
Tubbo
also another least chaotic duo
literally help him with his bee farm, he will (platonically) love you forever
gotta be close to ranboo, that’s the rule
gives him SO much stuff, he’s a precious boi 🙄
also gotta be close to tommy, but not as much unfortunately
you help him pick out things for builds, like what material clashes with another, etc
“do you think that the wool and the netherite blocks look good together y/n?”
“nah, what i suggest is the wool with the gold, it looks perfect.”
sometiems, gotta put him in check because he gets a little ego built up
you definitely yank his horn a little too hard because of your IMMENSE STRENGTH
“OW, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT Y/N.”
“calm down sunny, you were just getting a bit over your head a little.”
Tommyinnit
chaotic duo like sapnap
snaps at anyone who annoys you and vice versa
you give him EVERYTHING, obviously except op and creative
he tries to persuade you to do something, but dreamxd wouldn’t allow it, since he is the main boss
“come on y/n, give me op.”
“no tommy, xd will kick my ass.”
“pweaseee.”
“no.”
you would DEFINITELY help him with the Big Innit Hotel, making the whole layout and color palette.
both of you have an intense hatred for ranboo, since he “stole” tubbo away from tommy
Ranboo
least involved in everything
just stay in the tundra and drink some tea, and you’re good for all of your life
helps him get netherite all the time so your boii can get the good stuff 😬
when he mines to get diamonds, he literally prays to you
“y/n, if you’re listening, please give me a 6 vein, i desperately need it for my collection of diamond blocks.”
and THERE IT IS
more than a 6 vein actually, a 12 vein
guess he needs to pray to you more
daily tea sessions, to talk about the good stuff, and NO, and i repeat NO skipping
threatening to flick water on him check ✅
Wilbur Soot
literally you spoil him
not to be angsty, but when he died and lost his last canon life, you revived him instead of Dream
now he’s practically at your knees
like he’s thinks that he owes you, but actually that’s the opposite
he was revived because you were lonely, and wanted your best friend back :(
prays to you when he goes to bed
“hey y/n, hope you’re having a great day, (platonically) love you.”
“love you too mortal.”
sometimes, to be at the peak of godness, you shower upon wilbur as gold to symbolize blessings, like zeus did before
“omg y/n, what are you doing?”
“i’m trying to bless you, shut up bitch.”
just saying, he would make a religion about you :/
Karl Jacobs
omg don’t get me started on this
first, you wouldn’t codone him going back in time
he would definitely forget your name a lot, so that’s why you hated it
“hey karl, how are you doing?”
“i’m sorry, but do i know you?”
ANGST IS TOO MUCH FOR ME
you were definitely the one to push him towards sapnap and quackity
this is also another spoiled boi
give him the entire world while you’re at it pwease
he wants a few diamonds, nope, give him a chest full of them
Quackity
why are there so much chaotic duos in here?
literally chaos times infinity
energy to the max
literally, did you take an energy drink
grants him every wish he can randomly think off
“can i get a bucket with lava and a fish in it?”
“weird choice, but ok man.”
gotta be close to sap and karl or he isn’t your friend anymore /j
helps with las nevadas a lot, and definitely tries to rig the machines so you get money
“hey big q, i got 10,000 dollars.”
“that’s impossible... y/n, did you cheat?”
“nooo 😊”
help him preen his wings, and he goes “I LOVE YOU, MWAH MWAH.” obviously in his mind 🙄
Awesamdude
definitely helps him maintain the prison
you both love setting up red stone contraptions and pistons and all that giz
“hey sam, do you know where the redstone torches are?”
“yeah, there behind the pistons in the back.”
also you helped build the prison, since he could do that by himself
“are you sure that lava wall will work y/n, your calculations seem inaccurate.”
“i’m sure sam, this will add some more security to this goddamn server.”
nerd squared lol
BadBoyHalo
wouldn’t condone the egg
you warned him multiple times to get away from its grasp, but most of the times he’ll decline
“i won’t y/n, the egg is the future.”
he still, even after all the advancements, even after everything, he tries to ask you to join the eggpire
“come on y/n, you’ll like being with us.”
“i don’t wanna be on a stupid egg side, like let me crack the egg, i wanna eat it and turn it into a omelette.”
he doesn’t like that joke :(
but before he discovered the egg, both of you were joint at the hip
sight seeing was a must
languages being thrown around everywhere, since you were the little language muffin
Punz
steals stuff from everyone
hide your stuff, because the punzo-y/n team is unstoppable
definitely they can be really stubborn and indecisive
like one day, he will be like, “i need gold blocks.” and the next, “nevermind, i need netherite actually.”
like hon, stop switching
also anarchy buddies
burning down forests and buildings are your guys’s specialty
when you give him gold when they doesn’t ask, his heart goes brrr and his brain goes, “pog pog, they’re so cool, lets hug them.”
Technoblade
now this is the most deadly duo in the entire Dream Smp
better not piss you guys off 😐
he’s the Blood God, and you’re the God/Goddess/God being of Death
so if some occasion where you need to battle someone, like Techno’s enemies, *clears throat and murmurs Quackity*, you will obviously back your boy up :)
help him with enchanting and potions and he’s set for life
also you got have to be close to the great Philza Minecraft since him and Techno are buddy buddy
anarchy squared
helps with the voices since you have some of your own
“so what you’re saying is that i need to pay attention to them?”
“yeah, when i first learned that the voices were in my head, i tried to ignore them, but that sucked. so what i did was try to distract myself with various tasks, and that sucked.”
“so what do i do, you’re saying that i should listen to them, but how do i do that when they literally shout at me.”
“just embrace it, obviously when they do their little chant of blood for the blood god, you have to ignore them.”
“you suck at advice.”
Philza Minecraft
so since both of you resemble death, him being the Angel of Death and you being the God/Goddess/God being of Death, y’all are fucking best friends, platonic soulmates if you will
death squared
watch out, because if you piss them off, prepare to d-
gotta be close to Ranboo and Techno, and obviously others who he platonically likes
he doesn’t need to ask you for stuff, he’s the fricking Angel of Death, but he will ask you to preen his wings :D
“ow, not there y/n.”
“oh shut up grandpa, let me do it.”
“I’M NOT OLD DUMBASS.”
Dream XD
two gods at once, damn there is so much chaos
left and right, you guys are noticed by everyone, like purrrr
y’all would be in some fancy shit, to show your power
you would get jealous of him hanging out with george
“why are you jealous y/n?”
“you’re hanging out with george to much, hang out with me please :(.”
gifts are a must, even though both of you have access to creative

So I wanted to make a post to... Try and sum up what I think are all of the current ongoing plot lines/character arcs happening right now?
First off, we've got the ongoing disc war; Tommy and Tubbo are planning to go after Dream to try and kill him to get the discs back so they can finally put an end to everything once and for all. They're... Pretty much alone, it's just the two of them right now, planning to fight dream. They've been building a training room under Tommy's home to prepare.
Next, we have Tubbo's new home - where he's trying to build the town of Snowchester in order to have somewhere new to stay, so that he might give some of the people of ex-L'Manburg a place to live.
We've got Wilbur's Resurrection arc - where Phil, Ranboo, Eret and Fundy are trying to resurrect Wilbur so that he can lead the people once more, and so Fundy can have a dad. They've already gone and collected a bunch of totems of undying after trying to kill Wilbur twice to resurrect him ended up summoning the ghost of Schlatt.
We've got the bloodvines arc - where BadBoyHalo, Skeppy, Antfrost, Puffy and Awesamdude discovered a strange egg-plant-thing in BBH's statue room. Initially they didn't worry much until it's vines began spreading over the server and it started possessing people, leading to them sealing it in the room after Skeppy was possessed. Everything was fine until today, when BBH revealed he'd been fully corrupted and brought Ant, Punz and Puffy under it's Thrall with plans to do the same to Sam. They plan to have the egg take over the server so the Badlands can eventually rule and have started the spread by planting seeds of the egg at the bottom of the L'Manburg crater.
We've got the Prison that Awesamdude built, known as Pandora's vault - a massive impregnable building that exists to lock up prisoners with no chance of escape, with things like interweaving layers of obsidian walls, KEYCARD doors and guardians to stack mining fatigue.
That's all of the current arcs, now onto personal character arcs!
Tommy and Tubbo : After repairing their relationship to a degree, the two have agreed to fight together to get the discs back and take down Dream. They've both said they're not sure what they're going to do after this.
Dream : Appears to have disappeared for the time being after destroying L'Manburg.
Punz - Generally a factionless mercenary, was paid by Dream to be his inside man when he left, which he has. Unsure of how this relates to his supposed possession by the egg.
BBH and Skeppy - Both taken over by the egg, seeking to expand and grow the Eggpire to take over the SMP.
Puffy - Wants to become stronger, to live up to her role as a knight under Eret. Seeks to do what's right, no matter who it might hurt - has renounced Dream as her duckling and only pretended to be under the egg's Thrall. Is doing a training arc.
Nicki and Jack Manifold - Both see Tommy as the cause of all of the issues. Both want to get revenge on Tommy and the others who took down L'Manburg; Jack has joined Snowchester to get closer to Tubbo and eventually Tommy, but still seems to respect Tubbo. Still building manifoldland, his own nation.
Quackity - Has gone off on his own for the time being; seeks to devise a plan so that he might take down Dream with, sees him at his major enemy. Still hates Techno and the like, but sees Dream as the cause of everything.
Fundy - Let down by people time and time again, he's lost faith in people and has decided to stop trying to make people happy and work with them; instead seeks to cause chaos and destruction, following in his father's footsteps. Wanted to be friends with Ranboo but scared him off.
Ranboo - after Doomsday, left to go live with Phliza and Technoblade, seeing as they had no side and instead only cared about each other. Likes people, instead of sides. Suffering from steadily worsening memory issues and blackouts, built a panic room that he began to talk to a voice in his head with Dream's voice in, which told him about things he did during his blackouts. Reverts back to a base roaming enderman form whenever he gets heavily anxious. Recently found out that he, during one of his blackouts, was given one of the two discs by Dream for safekeeping... Which also meant he destroyed the community House. Is in a deep state of concern and self-doubt.
Technoblade - after the destruction of L'Manburg, seeks to live in peace again - at least as far as we know. Owes a favour to Dream for something in the future.
Philza - Wants to resurrect Wilbur to get his son back; has been researching necromancy ever since Wilbur's death in order to figure out how to bring him back, and has been working with Eret and Fundy to do so.
Eret - Current king of the server, unsatisfied with Dream's tyrannical rule over everything and his own actions that led to his position on the Throne. Wants to make the server a better place and wants to bring Wilbur back to make amends and hopefully let him lead people once more.
WilburSoot - Now dead, wants to come back so they can rule over the server, according their speeches as a ghost. Is afraid of being killed because he believes Ghostbur would cease to be, but feels that it's best for the server if Alivebur comes back.
Keep in mind, this isn't everyone on the server! This is just the characters who seem to be in the middle of having active character arcs and developments!
Hopefully this helps anyone who's confused with what's going on in the server right now!

- Ponk tears down one of the towers of L’Llamaburg
- Ponk sends Foolish through the labyrinth he built
- Afterwards, they visit the turtle sanctuary
- Ponk shows Foolish that he tore down the tower for overshadowing his supreme fridge. Foolish points out that he and Puffy don’t have the best history. Ponk is still bitter over Puffy destroying Sacrifice’s shrine
- Tubbo creates an outpost on a mountain just outside of Las Nevadas to keep an eye on the country
- Quackity comes over and asks what Tubbo is doing. He says he’ll speak with Tubbo later
- If anyone asks, Tubbo will say it’s just a cookie outpost from Snowchester
- Foolish comes over as well and tells Tubbo that he sent Punz on the mission to find the nuke
- Tubbo asks why Foolish has left Snowchester. Foolish says he’s trying something new -- he’s joining Las Nevadas, actually
- Foolish takes Tubbo on a tour through Las Nevadas. He asks if Tubbo would want to join Las Nevadas, but Tubbo declines
- Techno starts off in his house. He walks outside to find Niki, Phil and Ranboo launching fireworks for his birthday! They also set up a table outside the house with some cake
- After they eat some cake, Techno asks what he’s missed. He’s gone off into the wild to train, while Phil thought he was hibernating. Techno asks if they found out Tommy actually died. Phil tells him he did, but Dream brought him back
- Speaking of things brought back...Wilbur is back too. Niki and Techno are both shocked. Phil tells them that he’s actually living in Phil’s house currently. He tells Niki Wilbur’s changed for the better
- Techno brings Steve out
- He notices the new forest, which the others say sprouted up. It just appeared
- The subject returns to the revival book. Niki says, if Wilbur and Tommy have been brought back, there’s one person left that can be brought back that they don’t want back: Schlatt
- Niki asks if there are any new governments. Phil says no, Snowchester is still there but nothing much has happened that they need to step in on
- They solved the government issue with brute force. Techno says it was “mild property damage,” but Phil disagrees, saying it was mass destruction. They agree to just blame everything on Dream
- While he was away, Techno studied the blade. He suggests a training session for Niki and Ranboo
- Techno has something to do. He leaves, noticing Quackity standing on a hill nearby
- Quackity says hello. Techno tells him it’s his birthday (he’s not sure how old he is, though) and Quackity thanks him for helping with the Egg. He asks if Techno has visited Dream (Techno hasn’t)
- Techno went to the Dream SMP equivalent of Italy on vacation
- Quackity tells Techno he’s been visiting Dream, and that while in prison Dream seems to be a completely different person. Techno asks if Dream’s been treated well, and Quackity says he’s fine
- Just a few days ago, Dream told Quackity that he wanted Techno to visit, that he finally wanted to call in a “favor”
- Techno explains that the “favor” is that he has to get Dream his favorite meal at some point, since they were at a restaurant once and Techno forgot his wallet
Quackity: “He’s changed a lot. If you walk in there, he doesn’t seem like the person he’s always been, which is weird, how a person can change just like that.”
Techno: “It’s strange what five months of near total isolation can do to a person...as we know, it’s always a positive effect.”
- Sometime during this weekend, Techno will visit. Techno asks if Quackity has any written message from Dream, and Quackity says he can probably get one. He only has notes right now
- Techno asks if Quackity is telling the truth. He would hate to be lied to on his birthday...Quackity says he’s not lying, and as he said, he’s glad they set aside their differences
Quackity: “At the end of the day, scars fade away, Techno...”
- Quackity says goodbye and leaves. Techno wonders if he can trust him
- He returns to the others and they celebrate some more
- Phil takes them all down to show off the training arena he made in the basement
- They go back up and talk some more
- Meanwhile, Quackity meets Foolish at Las Nevadas. He asks about Tubbo’s outpost, and Foolish says it’s a cookie outpost. Quackity tells Foolish not to trust it, realizing he actually hasn’t talked to Tubbo recently
- Quackity is bothered by how clear the view of Las Nevadas is from the outpost and questions why Foolish didn’t stop Tubbo from building it
- He asks the last thing Foolish did in Las Nevadas as they walk over there, and then whether or not he’s already discussed the possibility of a “contract” of formal citizenship
- Quackity wants to get to know Foolish better. He makes sure that he can trust Foolish, confide in him certain information
- Foolish remarks that Quackity seems like the kind of guy who would make a lot of enemies, and gives him a set of Netherite armor
- Speaking of making enemies, Quackity takes Foolish over to the lake to look out at Wilbur and Tommy’s headquarters. Someone paid them a visit
Quackity: “Have you ever met...Wilbur?”
- Foolish hasn’t. Tommy told him a bit. Quackity points out an empty spot in Las Nevadas where he wants something done. He tells Foolish he just paid a visit to an old friend and he went unprotected, so the Netherite is a good idea
- Only two people have just given Quackity armor, and one of them is Quackity’s “right hand man” at the moment: Sam. Foolish mentions Sam screwed him over with L’Sandburg
- Quackity points out Eret’s cobblestone ocean pyramid. This country needs more citizens, more things built
- He shows Foolish the gambling machine and gives him diamonds to try out. Foolish wins Linda!
- Their objective with Las Nevadas is to build the biggest, most powerful country, and Quackity’s read his fair share of Sun Tzu. He’s actually helped run a country before, which Foolish is surprised to learn (countries are before Foolish’s time)
- Quackity says he’ll talk to Foolish soon and leaves for a couple minutes before returning. He asks for PVP lessons, but Foolish hasn’t done much fighting for a while
Quackity: “I do all my fighting through dialogue, if you haven’t noticed...That’s my biggest weapon, Foolish, it’s the way I say things, everything, all that. But I think, you know, given what could come of all this...”
Foolish: “I was gonna say, I don’t know if that will work forever...unless you’re very, very good with your words, eventually you’ll say the wrong words.”
- Quackity suggests they make their own lookout outpost
- Quackity has some plans to show Foolish, a project he thought of when he was thinking about making Las Nevadas. His first plan was to build a highway system
Quackity: “They say all roads lead to Rome...in this case, all roads lead to Las Nevadas.”
- He shows Foolish some sign ideas and Foolish says it would be no problem to build up some roads
- Quackity shows Foolish an old idea for a path with rail lines on both sides, layouts for advertisements
- The first place Quackity thinks the road should go is the Spawn area, for when someone joins or dies. Quackity is annoyed that Tubbo blocked the route, but they can go around it
- They plan out the path of the road. Foolish asks if Quackity wants the road to go to Kinoko Kingdom. Quackity goes silent before saying he wants to focus on the main attractions right now
- Quackity leaves again to go check some things
Foolish: “When you choose a side, there’s always other sides...which means I can’t be buddy-buddy with everyone forever.”
- Foolish does the boat slime jump. Quackity comes back with food and continues to discuss plans. Besides connecting everyone, they also need to make cash off of this highway, so he wants to make sure there’s plenty of advertisement
- L’manburg is destroyed, but it also has a lot of history. Quackity’s noticed no one’s really claimed that area. Wilbur and Tommy are neighboring them now. Foolish asks if they’re enemies...Quackity says he’ll explain that in a bit
Quackity: “We can make L’manburg a main tourist area.”
- Foolish knows a few people might be against that. Anyone from L’manburg, maybe. Quackity reminds him he was in the cabinet, and proceeds to tell him the story of Wilbur:
---
When Quackity joined the server, L’manburg was the biggest nation. Quackity asked to join, and he was declined because he wasn’t British -- the one requirement. He didn’t like this, he felt left out, he wanted to be a part of something. The election rolled around, it was SWAG vs. POG.
(They walk over to the ruins of L’manburg)
Wilbur was going to run a “democratic” election with only one option available to vote for, which Quackity didn’t think was very democratic.
(Quackity gets interrupted by George calling him)
Each party had a Vice President. Foolish assumes that Wilbur’s was Tommy...and Quackity’s was George. Quackity points out King’s Court to Foolish in the sky, the place they had their debate. After their debate, Quackity and Wilbur had a talk, a conversation that stuck with him for a very long time.
Then it was Election Day. What happened was, each party had sponsors. Who endorsed Tommy and Wilbur?
Vikkstar.
Tommy accidentally posted the Vikkstar endorsement video in the Discord before deleting it seven seconds later, but that was still enough time for George to get the link and send it to Quackity, and Quackity needed the one person who could match that endorsement: KSI.
Unfortunately, KSI never replied, as it was quite last-minute.
That’s when the turning point happened, and Quackity calls it the worst day of his life. George slept through the event. Quackity had no endorsements, no Vice President. The other party was going strong -- but they made a mistake. Their second endorsement was Schlatt. However, Schlatt arrived drunk, and instead of endorsing Wilbur and Tommy, he made his own party on the spot. SCHLATT2020. Not only this, but Niki and Fundy also made their own party too: COCONUT2020.
The votes go out. POG2020 wins. But, Quackity had an idea, to pool votes with Schlatt. They ended up with 1% more votes than POG, and that’s how Quackity ended up as Vice President of the country. However, this was a big mistake. The policies Schlatt enacted were to exile Tommy and Wilbur, took down the walls, changed up things -- and to be fair, Quackity did join him on this. He was down with taking down the walls. Everything started going downhill. Schlatt would constantly undermine Quackity’s Vice Presidency, his policy ideas, and he did the worst thing to Quackity -- took down the White House that Quackity, Wilbur and Tommy built together.
Schlatt didn’t care. He started teaming up with bad folks like Dream, other people, and the rest is history. Imagine everything that had to happen to lead to this...
(he gestures to L’manhole)
Foolish: “Do you regret it all?”
Quackity: “...No.”
Foolish: “So, you would’ve let it all go the exact same way, down to Wilbur blowing it all up?”
Quackity: “I wouldn’t have changed a damn thing, Foolish...And let me tell you why...All these mistakes, all these things, have made me the person I am now, Foolish. All these experiences, all these bad moments in my life, have made me the man I am today.”
“And you never...you never mess with history. Because everything happens for a reason, Foolish. Everything happens for a reason. You don’t ever pander with history, you don’t ever try to turn it around or change it, because the way things happen are the way things happen at the end of the day. And that’s how we build character. I wouldn’t have Las Nevadas if not for all these...for all these...mistakes, maybe.”
After that, something happened with Wilbur. Quackity didn’t know much about it, but he changed. He was so obsessed with his country that if he couldn’t have it, no one could. He blew up the entire thing, and in that process he ended up dying, and that’s when Ghostbur came to be.
So many more things happened (Foolish finds out that this crater isn’t just from Wilbur), but...it is what it is.
“And if you dwell in the past, you’ll live in suffering your entire life. So take it from me, Foolish. Take in all the experiences you’ve ever had, and apply them to something greater than what you used to be. Take one last gander at...the country that never was.”
---
- Quackity shows Foolish his old house under Karl’s. He’s not seen Karl in a while. He sees that it’s been blown up, and there’s an old message to him from Sam. He’s not sure what happened.
- Quackity shows Foolish the message. Just as he’d said, Sam had given him Netherite armor once. Sam has a good heart. It’s in the right place, he just needs some guidance.
- He leads Foolish down the Prime Path, showing him the other buildings. He takes Foolish over to the museum.
- They look at the maps and discuss routes again. Foolish asks about a road to the prison, and Quackity says improving his “commutes” would be nice
- Quackity is glad Foolish is taking the chance on Las Nevadas. Quackity has to leave to address some business, but he’ll get on to help Foolish build the roads later.
- Foolish goes back to Las Nevadas, looking out over at Wilbur and Tommy’s headquarters.
Foolish: “It’s kinda been a while since I’ve really had enemies enemies...but I have the feeling that is gonna change soon enough...Maybe not even enemies, but certainly not friends. Kind of a shame, though, I’ve yet to really meet Wilbur...”
- He gets out his shulker box from an Ender Chest and looks inside. There is a stack of TNT.
“It’s been a while...”
- Niki is at the Arctic. Wilbur is back. She thought she got rid of him and doesn’t know why he’s back now, in the only place she feels safe
Niki: “Who are you going to manipulate next, huh? Because it’s not gonna be me this time! It’s not gonna be me this time.”
- Tommy? Tubbo? Jack? Jack wouldn’t fall for it. Niki is upset that Wilbur didn’t check up on her. Why would he change? He never changes or cares
- Why would Dream revive him? Dream was his enemy, but at the end he was pretty fond of him
- Niki heads back through the Nether to her secret city. Now the world revolves around Wilbur again
- She still hasn’t finished her city and hasn’t been able to sleep. She goes to a chest to find the diamonds Wilbur once gave her
- Niki saw the TNT when she broke the wall, but she didn’t tell anyone, covered it back up. But Wilbur still blew it up anyway
- Niki puts the diamonds in a chest buried deep in the wall and covers it back up
- She goes back to the main area, to L’manburg. When she was in Manberg, Wilbur promised that he would get her out of there, and she waited weeks. And then Wilbur wasn’t the same person anymore
- Niki thought maybe while Wilbur was still alive, he could still be rescued, could still be happy
Niki: “But you will never be happy, because all you want is what you can’t have. And when you have everything...what will you fight for?”
- Niki wants to see him, ask why he never came back to her. She walks back to the Nether portal and the stream ends
- Bad shows up to L’Sandburg and notices L’Llamaburg next door. He’s upset about the new castle and wonders why Foolish would allow this, as it violates the agreement
- He reads the purpose of L’Llamaburg and is enraged. There’s only one option, and that’s war. He sets fire to the walls of L’Llamaburg, builds an extension on top of his tower to make it taller than Puffy’s build, and builds a giant sign saying “LIAR”
- After visiting the main area to get some resources, he meets Antfrost on the Prime Path, who has a new skin for pride month!
- Bad goes to the Arctic to bake a cake for Technoblade’s birthday. After finishing it, he leaves a letter requesting Techno’s assistance:
---
Dear Technoblade,
Greetings on this fine evening. I hope this letter finds you well and I hope your polar bears are doing excellent. It is with my sincerest apoligies that I disturb your peace but I must inquire about possibly obtaining your services.
Important matters aside I have built a delicious giant cake for you in honor of your birthday. I hope this cake finds you well and may you have many excellent birthdays to follow. If you would be interested in possibly destroying my enemies for me and salting the earth they call home so that they never find happiness again that would be most kind. If you would like to discuss this matter further you know where to find me.
Kindest Regards BBH
---
- Later, Captain Puffy hears of this brewing war and comes online. She confronts Bad about the missing tower from her castle. Bad insists it wasn’t him, it was Ponk
- Puffy reminds Bad of Puffy and Ponk’s conflict from a while ago in which they destroyed each others builds, and says it’s only fair that, if Ponk really did destroy the tower, then she should destroy Ponk’s fridge
- Bad tries to reason with Puffy to not retaliate, while Puffy thinks tearing down the fridge would be doing the place a favor
- Bad brings up the buffer zone violation and they start arguing with each other over Foolish’s land, the turtles, Puffy blames Bad for killing her son, one thing leads to another and soon enough Puffy tells Bad that his L’Sandburg llama citizens are all into BDSM
- They go to the turtle enclosure and see Ponk’s ransom note. Bad says Ponk has to die. Puffy points out they could start with the fridge, and Bad says they should take his other arm. Ponk stole Shelly, they have to kill him
- Puffy gets angry at Bad not wanting to take down the fridge and brings up the death of her son again, how she thought Bad was going to turn over a new leaf at the Banquet and then that leaf ended up covered in blood instead
Puffy: “I should have taken your goddamn arm, Bad!”
- After talking more, the two finally work together to take down the supreme fridge
- Once finished, the two write a return note to Ponk. Bad wants to discuss things with Ponk, and there’s a place in Las Nevadas that he thinks would be good to meet
The note reads:
---
Dear Ponk,
It has come to our attention that you’ve been responsible for some heinous crimes!
Not only did you completely demolish Puffy’s original mushroom house which she let slide. You now have destroyed a tower of her sand castle. BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE!
WHERE IS SHELLY PONK!? You’ve not only commited crimes against Puffy but Bad as well! You’ve kidnapped Bad & Sheldon’s dearest Shelly for ransom!
So me and Bad decided to return the favor and give you a taste of your own disgusting medicine!
YOU’RE FRIDGE NO LONGER SUPREME! YOU’VE MESSED WITH THE WRONG MUFFINS AND TAKEN OUR KINDNESS FOR WEAKNESS TOO MANY TIMES!
We all need to talk immediately before this escalates more then it already has.
Leave a book back giving us a time and a place and we will try to attend.
You’ve been warned!
With love, BBH & PuffDaddy
---
- Bad still wants Puffy to move L’Llamaburg, but Puffy wants to stay and protect her son. Bad suggests an alliance: what if L’Sandburg and L’Llamaburg simply combine their territories? It would be beneficial for both nations
- Puffy is skeptical about Bad’s idea and decides that relocating is probably the smartest idea, as Ponk will probably retaliate against her

Who Are the Four Horsemen of the Dream SMP Apocalypse?

INTRODUCTION
Hopefully I finish this before I feel too sleep-deprived, but I’ve been thinking about the presence of horsemen in Quackity’s “My Enemies” stream. These mysterious, hooded figures are quite odd to say the least, and their involvement with Las Nevadas still remains unknown. There has been a debate on whether there were three horsemen or four, and in my opinion, I believe that there are four horsemen present.
Why four? In the first scene, three horsemen arrive at the Dream SMP on a dark and stormy night. They seem to have come from the south, entering Eret’s castle from the back. As they stop to pull their Netherite swords out, air raid sirens are heard from the distance.
Similarly, in the last scene, Quackity is seen placing a book in Wilbur’s memorial before leaving, riding his skeleton horse, Ossium. The scene cuts from first person POV to third, and we see a hooded figure, presumably Quackity because of how both came from the same direction. Additionally, air raid sirens are also heard from a distance.
[MORE UNDER THE CUT!]
I theorize that these two scenes take place at the same time. The prequel scenes only began after we see the sequence of Quackity torturing Dream, and it ends after the flashbacks of Wilbur. We can synthesize that both these scenes are set at the same time, and that these horsemen are going to meet at a certain point on the prime path.
What may suggest that these four horsemen are supposed to be parallels to the biblical four horsemen?
Firstly, seeing the bits they do, Quackity and Schlatt do know a lot of biblical references. Schlatt has compared Tubbo to Jesus once, and Quackity has said many prayers as jokes in the Dream SMP. It’s just… easy to take inspiration from biblical symbols and references, and also, the four horsemen are just very popular figures in history, so you know, why not?
Also, this may also sound RIDICULOUS, but the fact that this stream establishes that Tommy got resurrected three days after he got killed is actually very reminiscent of, well, you guessed it, Jesus Christ. 72 hours is oddly specific, and I don’t think the cc’s made it that way for no reason. Tommy’s parallels to Jesus—which is a VERY funny phrase—could imply that the Dream SMP might draw more parallels to Christianity, and the four horsemen could be another one of these references.
Also, Quackity mentioned how in Las Nevadas, he made four casinos for him and the rest of El Rapids. So, we know four is a number we can associate with Las Nevadas, and there’s a chance Quackity gave these casinos to three other people. Four casinos, four horsemen.
What is the purpose of the four horsemen in the Dream SMP? When the air raid sirens went off, we can think of these four horsemen as the bringer of chaos or danger into the Dream SMP, very reminiscent of the purpose of the original four horsemen in Christianity. We can also connect it to the end of the world, as these four only appear when the world begins to end. This can imply that these four, who are most likely allies of Quackity in Las Nevadas, are somewhat connected to how the Dream SMP will end.
Now, who is who? Admittedly, it is difficult to find a definitive answer on which member represents what horseman, so I’ll try my best considering all the possibilities for each. I’ll add my own ranks on how probable I think they are, but I have to specify that these are subjective- I am not a beacon of truth, y’all.
So let’s get started.
Firstly, I want to discuss who might NOT be a horseman to narrow it down a bit:
Any minors might not be involved. In Sam’s face reveal stream, aka the first stream mentioning Las Nevadas, Quackity and Sam agree they don’t want Tubbo and Tommy to participate in underage gambling. Don’t know if this applies to Ranboo and Fundy (since he might be canonically a child? Who knows), so they get more of a pass, but the clingy duo might not.
The Syndicate. I’d like to think that the Syndicate, as well as Dream, are Quackity’s main foils of the server. As they are the richest and also the most skilled in PVP, Quackity stands no chance against them even with his sharp tongue. As these people are foils against Quackity, and also probably hate his guts, Quackity might not hire them at Las Nevadas. I theorize he’d probably use Dream as a watchdog against the Syndicate, but that’s a theory for another time.
Additional point about Dream: he’s in prison.
Anyone from Kinoko Kingdom because it’s clear Quackity severed all ties with them.
The Eggpire is half-half. They can possibly join, but also can’t, Quackity can manipulate them into joining only for their inevitable demise, or Quackity wouldn’t wanna associate with them after the explosion incident. They’ll at least get a few passes in some categories, but again, not entirely sure.
CONQUEST
Tumblr media
Also known as Plague, Pestilence, and in some occasions, both Jesus Christ and the Antichrist, Conquest is shown to be riding on a white horse, donning a victor’s crown and a bow. There are many interpretations of Conquest, especially with their ambiguous morality. Some people can perceive them as bad, representing the origin of many wars. Some people claim that they represent pestilence and plague as their arrows are slathered with the infections they want to spread. In some cases, they can also be interpreted as good, as their description is heavily reminiscent of Jesus Christ himself. Others would rebut that there is also a possibility that they might be a fake replica of Jesus created by Satan, thus making them the antichrist.
Sam (8/10)
Sam is my first choice when it comes to Conquest because, firstly, he fits the appearance. He is one of the only people in the Dream SMP who dons a crown, and they also possess a bow which they frequently use. I’d say that Sam as Conquest matches with his ambitions as a member of the Badlands, Pestilence or Plague match with his possible crimson infection, and Antichrist matches with his inability to keep Tommy, the possible Jesus figure on the SMP, alive or safe.
My only issue is: would Sam be one of the three who arrived at the Dream SMP in the beginning? Sam is very strict with his job as warden, so it is unlikely that he would be seen far from it.
Any of the Eggpire (7/10)
As Conquest is heavily depicted with pestilence or plague, any of the Eggpire may fit under this category. As their goal as the Eggpire is meant to conquer the Dream SMP, this also matches with the goal of Conquest. Additionally, one of the Egg’s weaknesses is Church Prime, something heavily resembling Christianity, so if the Egg is its opposite, we can view the Egg as somewhat of an antichrist.
I say Punz, Bad, Ponk, and Hannah have a higher chance of being Conquest, while Ant is a solid ‘maybe’. Punz could’ve been the one who blew up the Egg, Bad can be easily persuaded by Quackity, Ponk is one of the only capitalists of the server that may participate in Las Nevadas, and Hannah’s character heavily fits the theme of pestilence when it comes to nature. Additionally, I like to believe that Conquest was the horseman on the skeleton horse (that isn’t Quackity’s), especially since they were holding a dandelion in one shot, something that could be attributed to “pestilence” because a dandelion is a weed. This may imply that Hannah could be part, but because they haven’t interacted much beforehand, we wouldn’t be sure. More insight on Punz: he once mentioned he upholds his duties as mercenary more than he might love the Egg, so there’s a chance Quackity bribed him to join Las Nevadas.
Tumblr media
The main con to this is that: why would the Eggpire willingly join Quackity, or why would the Egg allow them to join Quackity? I can see that Quackity might break their brainwashed states because he has a good way with words, but people like Bad, Ant, and Punz have stated that they’ve been fully controlled by the Egg. Also, Quackity makes it clear he wants to eradicate his enemies, so he might not want any members of the Eggpire to join Las Nevadas… unless there’s a traitor?
Schlatt, Mexican Dream, or Wilbur (6/10)
Heavily connected with winning if you take Manberg, Mexican L’Manberg, or L’Manberg into mind.
Wilbur also has a memorable crossbow, but I don’t know if that counts as a bow.
Any dead characters have a high chance of joining Las Nevadas because of its possible connections to death and the revival system of the SMP.
Other possibilities with short explanations and low but possible odds:
Eret: Has a crown, his betrayal can be seen as a “win”, has Tommy’s bow from the duel. Can be seen as an antichrist figure.
Jack: As he is against Tommy, he can be seen as an antichrist figure. Might be working with Las Nevadas because of his deal with Quackity.
Ranboo: He’s a minor, but he also has a crown and a bow so, maybe? He’s not much of a conqueror or winner, though.
Connor: Didn’t really conquer much, didn’t really win much, he’s just here because of Schlatt, honestly.
WAR
Tumblr media
War is depicted to be holding a raised sword as they ride atop a red horse. After conquest, war is expected to follow, and War is tasked to break any type of peace on earth. He is tasked to kill, or make humans kill each other. The prominence of red symbolizes bloodshed or immense anger, something very present in war. Multiple depictions of War show him with his sword raised upwards, signifying the start of a battle.
Schlatt (9/10)
The man’s literally torn the Dream SMP apart (/lh). This man is always keen on fulfilling his goals, and if it means he’ll have to fulfill them in the most twisted of ways, he will do it. Him winning the Election brought immense conflict in the Dream SMP, and many people were torn apart on which side was the right or wrong side. One of Schlatt’s prominent colors besides blue would be red, as it is the color of his tie and the color of his ghost form’s horns. Red could represent the bloodshed of those who died during the Manberg-Pogtopia conflict, or red can signify the anger Schlatt had for his own cabinet.
Schlatt was also gifted a sword by Dream called “Shclatt”. The sword only holds heavy significance because of how Fundy treasured it like an heirloom.
Wilbur (8/10)
Another good possibility too as Ghostbur was recently seen to admire red a lot more than blue in one of Tommy’s streams. We can also view the creation of L’Manberg as a place that broke the peace in the Dream SMP as they didn’t really NEED to create L’Manberg and declare war, yet, he did. Red can also resemble his anger for what has been done to L’Manberg- everything is pretty self-explanatory, honestly.
My only qualm with Wilbur being one of the horsemen is how we can’t really… tell if he’s in the Dream SMP? He seems to be very clear on the fact that he does NOT want to return, so he might not even be there when the four horsemen became a thing.
Any of the Eggpire (7/10)
Honestly? Same reasoning as the first explanation for the Eggpire. This also applies for why they might not be one of the horsemen.
Do I even need to explain the red part, or do we just all understand that red is literally their brand.
The Eggpire practically breaks peace in the server and is keen on taking control of the entirety of the Dream SMP. The Egg is shown to be ruthless towards anyone, and will even let some of its followers kill people if needed.
I see Bad as someone who might qualify for this position more because he initiates a lot of the activity in the Eggpire. Same goes for Ant, Punz, and Ponk, but they don’t really take initiative most of the time.
Jack Manifold (4/10)
The only reason I kind of added him here was that he wanted to kill Tommy, but Jack isn’t entirely selfish or peace-breaking. I do think he might play a role in Las Nevadas, especially since if Quackity has access to the nukes, only Jack and Ranboo might be the only two who helped him gain access.
Jack is also… very angry at Tommy. Rightfully so, because he basically surrounded a good portion of his life trying to kill Tommy only for him to realize that that might not be his purpose in life. He blames Tommy for a lot of the loss in the server, so he has a lot of anger, but he has no one to vent it all out to.
Other possibilities with short explanations and low but possible odds:
Eret: Did the first betrayal, but that’s about it. He’s also participated in several wars against others who disagreed with him being the king.
Ranboo: Participated in wars, but is a peacemaker so, y’know.
Fundy: While he does possess Schlatt’s sword, he isn’t much of an initiator of wars as much as he is merely a follower. He has shown that he is quite angry at those who have used him, but the anger has dissipated lately into some sort of sadness/denial.
Connor: He’s mournful that Schlatt, a close friend, has died, but he isn’t really one to be angry. He tried living far away to make his own independent nation, but it didn’t impact much of the story. He also one possessed “Ghostbur’s Stabbing Knife”, which could represent the sword.
FAMINE
Tumblr media
Famine is seen to be holding a scale (presumably for food) as they ride atop a horse. Famine is also denoted to be the only one speaking, saying “A quart of wheat for a denarius! And three quarts of barley for a denarius! But don’t ruin the oil and the wine!”. This statement basically means that we have to pay a full day’s worth of earnings for a bit of wheat and barley but oil and the wine, something not considered human necessities, can have the same prices. This shows an unfairness when it comes to acquiring basic human necessities. This is especially damaging to the poor as Famine’s statement can possibly make the poor poorer, while the rich remain the same. It is implied that the wider the gap between the poor and the rich, the closer we are to the end of the world.
Fundy (9/10)
This may be a long answer because I am biased towards Fundy, but Niki once stated that Manberg was in some sort of a famine because of the destruction of farms. Because of this, certain citizens have resorted into eating spider eyes from the EXP farm, but it was notable that she was practically calling out Fundy, someone who literally advertised spider eyes to any person he talked to in the Dream SMP.
Fundy is also hinted to be heavily connected to these hooded figures somehow. In his dream, he was chased by one until he slept in a black bed, the color of Famine.
Additionally, in his dream, he held baked potatoes (food) which could be related…? He’s also a libra so… scales…?
He is also a notorious prankster in the Dream SMP and will bargain for anything as long as he profits from it. He’s not the richest by any means, but he loves doing pranks that involve stealing belongings from other people.
Schlatt (8/10)
Similar reason to Fundy as he was the president of Manberg responsible for these famines. Additional note for this is that he also taxed Niki, one of their only food sources in Manberg.
Schlatt also likes to joke around about being rich, earning money, or being a businessman often, especially with the entire Schlatt coin joke. Connected to Famine’s trait of making the rich richer, possibly?
Famine’s statement can also apply here as it is implied that if humanity doesn’t possess the basic of necessities, they might at least have wine which won’t provide any solutions to humanity’s starvation at all, but it will distract you from your starvation by making you heavily drunk until you finally die. This is very reminiscent of how Schlatt died.
Sam (6/10)
Sam is one of the richest people on the server, matching Famine’s want to keep the rich rich. Only problem here is that Sam is at least very generous and provides a lot of people with resources when needed.
Sam could possibly be connected to Famine because of how he treats Dream in prison. In an attempt to torture Dream, he starves him, cutting his food supply.
Same problem remains with Sam not being able to join whatever the hell the four horsemen are because of his duties as warden.
Any of the Syndicate (1/10)
Only giving an exception here because the Syndicate is exceptionally rich and is more selfish about it than others. Low chances, but Ranboo… might? But it’s still a bit iffy for me. Niki might as well because of her connections to the Manbergian famine, but still on the fence with this one too.
DEATH
Tumblr media
Death is often depicted riding a pale horse, but some variations have called the horse light green. Death does not don a weapon themselves, but they are always accompanied by Hades. Hades in Christianity is the place or state of the departed spirits, meaning Death has contact with those who have died. Sometimes, Death is depicted with a scythe similar to the Grim Reaper, but some say Death has no weapon at all as Death themself is the weapon. Death is not only meant to collect souls and end lives, but they can also represent the end of an era of humanity.
Quackity (10/10)
I would say Quackity can fit any other category, but I am so sure that Quackity is death because of how death and toying with death seems to be one of Quackity’s main themes in the Dream SMP. Quackity, once hesitant about killing others, has been shown to now impulsively want to kill others: first with Techno, then Ranboo, then Dream.
Quackity will also most likely acquire information about revival on the Dream SMP, so he is in close proximity with Hades, or in the Dream SMP, the Void. This also heavily ties in with the idea that he will make others gamble away their canon lives only for him to resurrect or return their canon lives if they ever successfully gamble it back.
Quackity is also known to be very powerless in terms of PVP and battle, but you know what he succeeds in? His own words. He is his own weapon that can get him whatever he wants as long as the person he’s up against is in a vulnerable position.
He is also confirmed to be one to have a skeleton horse, and some depictions of Death’s horse show that it is very corpse-like.
A bloody scythe can also be seen in Quackity’s first lore teaser, and that can be attributed to Death.
Other possibilities with short explanations and low but possible odds:
Schlatt: First owned the revival book but he literally does not know its contents. Fits the “they are their own weapon” trait.
Dream: The only exception I can give. But again, he is literally in prison…?
Wilbur & Mexican Dream: Only putting these two here because they have experienced death. These two fit the “they are their own weapon” category too.
Connor: Wants to revive Schlatt, but that’s it.
CONCLUSION
Honestly, my first conclusion for the four horsemen were Sam/Conquest, Schlatt/War, Fundy/Famine, and Quackity/Death, but I only see Quackity as Death to be something that is HIGHLY possible. For Conquest, I shift between Sam and one of the Eggpire, for War, I shift between Wilbur and Schlatt, and for Famine, I shift between Fundy and Schlatt. Again, no definitive answer, but I’d love to hear your own thoughts on this.
I am very tired, but also remember to reblog if you do enjoy this! Again, would love to hear your own insights, and would appreciate any type of discussion! :D

and i'll be here, my love // c!dream x gn!reader
word count: 1,781
summary: you finally cave in to your emotions and visit your boyfriend in prison
request?: thank you anon!! i really enjoyed this one :D
this fic takes place after dream kills/revives tommy but before quackity's visit!! also i proofread like half of it pls forgive any mistakes
---
You thought you were ready, you thought you could handle seeing him again. You really did.
Turns out you were very, very wrong.
When you turned up to Sam's place in tears, begging to be allowed to see your partner in the prison that he was in charge of, he was shocked to say the least - but even so he found himself without a reason to deny your desperate request. And so today was the day; you were going to see Dream for the first time in two months.
A lot had happened since the last time you saw him. You'd always worked alongside Dream and everybody knew that, yet he was the one who faced the severe consequences. You didn't care about the fact that he killed Tommy. In fact, you were happy about it! He deserved it. Annoying little bastard. But there was something that just didn't feel right about the thought of visiting him and it stopped you for this long, but you refused to let the thoughts get in the way any longer.
You made your way through the Nether Portal on Sam's command, shaking like a delicate autumn leaf on a windy day. You gave the creeper hybrid a forced smile as you approached him, your heart racing faster than ever and your palms clammy.
“Hi.” you greeted, and Sam smiled back sympathetically.
“Hello,” he replied, his voice plain. This is what must be known as his Warden State. “I just have a few questions to ask before we get started, is that okay?” you simply nodded in response, expecting the worst as per usual. “Alright, when was the last time you visited the prison?”
“This is my first time.”
“Where is your place of residence located?”
“I don’t, uh, I don’t really live anywhere.” you admitted with a pink tint to your face, you’d been so caught up in what was going on that you just didn’t think to build yourself a house. It’s not like you needed one, anyways.
“Mhm, okay. Do you believe the prisoner is deserving of being locked up?” well shit. How the fuck were you mean to answer this? Of course Dream didn’t deserve this! You weren’t stupid; you’d noticed how tense Sam had been around you, especially after you completely revealed yourself to be not only on Dream’s side, but his significant other, too.
“Yeah, yeah I do.” you lied. “Despite the feelings I hold towards him, the things he did are truly unforgivable and that’s why I’m here today; I need to talk things through with him.” probably the best to add that in for good measure. Sam nodded and you could see his shoulders sink a little, great - you were beginning to get on his good side, you hoped at least.
Look, it’s not like you were oblivious to the fact that you were a bad guy. If anything, you loved it, and you loved Dream! You two were a pair, and there was nothing that could come between you, not even what he did… you struggled to admit to yourself that what he did was going a little bit too far. But this must be part of some greater plan that you didn’t know of yet, it must be! Surely he wouldn’t do these things for nothing?
“And what are all your prior relations with the prisoner?”
“A friend then a lover. Perhaps an enemy - we’ll see how this goes.”
“Right. Are you willing to submit to any and all physical exams?” you nodded your head once again, aching to be in the arms of your lover once more. Even if it meant living a lie, telling everyone you’d moved on and you never wanted to speak to him again, you’d do it. For him. “Do you acknowledge that you may not bring anything into the prison with you?” “I do.”
“And do you recognise that I, Awesamdude, am the ultimate authority on the grounds and what I say goes?”
“I do.”
“Okay,” he said, dragging out the “o” as he finished scribbling down your answers in his book. He then placed another book on the lectern in front of you, asking you to read through the waiver out loud and then to sign it, which you did. Once the waiver was signed and you were ready to go, Sam instructed you to place all of your belongings in the locker to your left and you complied, trying to be as fast as possible so you could see Dream a little bit sooner.
You were then faced with many aforementioned physical examinations to make sure you were not a threat to the safety of anyone (which you weren’t) and it was finally, finally time to lower the bubbling lava surrounding the main holding cell. The cell that he was in.
You couldn’t lie, you were absolutely shitting yourself. It had been two months since you and Dream had last seen each other, and as far as you were aware he didn’t know you were visiting today. What if he was mad at you for leaving it this long? What if he’d fallen out of love with you? What if-
“Make sure you move with the bridge, okay?” your spiralling panic was thankfully interrupted by Sam and you looked up from the spot on the floor which you zoned out on, to see an awfully familiar green hoodie paired with ripped blue jeans, to see him.
And funnily enough, the segment of the stone floor you were standing on began to move. You wobbled a bit at first which panicked Sam a little, he couldn’t stand being responsible for a second death, but you regained your balance and felt the nerves rise up as you neared the cell. He was there. He was waiting.
You stepped off the platform once it reached the obsidian, waiting for the barrier to be lowered.
“Y/n?” was all he said, his eyes filling up with tears as the lava was lowered once more.
“Dream!” you exclaimed in glee, hopping over the barrier to be engulfed in his warm hug. You could feel his bones through the ripped green hoodie he was wearing and his mask was in anything but a good state, his dirty blond hair had grown out a lot and the bags beneath his eyes were more prominent than ever. You decided not to mention any of the alarming things you noticed though, taking note of the very little space and furniture he’d been living with. To think this is what he’d been dealing with while you had no idea… you felt terrible. “How have you been?”
“I’ve been okay, I’ve been okay. Decided to do a little experiment on Tommy, did you hear about it?” he asked excitedly, a genuine grin painted across his face.
“Have I? It’s been the talk of the town! Everyone fucking hates you for that, you know.” “Everyone?” “Almost everyone. The Eggpire celebrated the news and Puffy was livid about it, and acting as if I cared was more exhausting than it sounds. You did a good deed honey, you really did.” you said with an honest smile, properly looking Dream in the eyes for the first time in a long time.
His green irises stood out as always, piercing through your own e/c eyes. There was a hint of desperation in them, it was as if they were screaming at you to let him out of this absolute hellhole of a place. You couldn’t blame him, really - what did he have? A cauldron of water, a chest and a lectern with an empty book placed on it. Your heart ached for the man who stood before you, you wanted nothing more than to get him out of this horrid place.
“Great!” he said with enthusiasm in his voice - but something was off, it was more than obvious.
“Dream, love,” your eyes softened as you spoke, taking his hand in your own and gently rubbing your thumb along his knuckles. You adjusted his mask so you could see his face properly with your other hand before tracing it across a fresh scar that reached right from his eyebrow to his chin, but that was a topic for another conversation. “Tell me the truth now, how are you holding up in here?” the smile he held faltered as he looked towards the floor, the grip you had on his hand tightening ever so slightly.
“It’s not too bad, I guess. Just tiring, y’know? All I have to eat is raw potatoes and that’s the only reason Sam ever comes to visit me. I used to have a clock, too, multiple actually, I’d always throw them in the lava so he’d come and give me a new one and he’d be forced to visit me, but I’m not allowed another one now. Tommy’s come to see me a few times, but you already know that, and Sapnap’s been and he said he’d kill me and Bad’s also been and he was the only person who’s been nice to me, besides you of course, and Sam hates me and everything’s just been a mess and-”
“Shhh,” you ever so gently placed a tender finger over his lips, stopping him from spiralling. “Breathe with me, okay? You’re panicking again.” you took Dream through a few deep breaths in and out, in and out. He began to calm down and after pulling his mask over his face to hide his tears, he pulled you into the tightest hug yet. You felt him shaking beneath your touch, and you felt absolutely terrible for him.
“Say, how about I come and visit you every day? I can whip up some lame excuse so Sam doesn’t suspect anything. I’ll come here and I’ll talk to you, I’ll keep you company and we can talk through things, because I think we can agree there’s a lot we need to go through in regards to recent events. Is that okay?”
“Yeah, that sounds great. I’m so glad I get to see you again my darling.” he cupped your cheek in his hand and you placed your own palm above his hand, clasping it and placing a soft kiss on his lips beneath his broken, white mask.
“I love you, Dream, never forget that.”
You hugged one last time before calling for Sam, assuring him that you’d be back tomorrow. And you were, and again the next day, and the day after that, and so on and so forth. The love you had for Dream was endless and you were forever grateful that he trusted you enough to see him like that.

Gream angst! So, nails are cannon (you know, those thing you use to build), as well as other construction items. Mama Puffy helps though. Trigger warnings: Slight blood, implied torture, panic attack/response, cursing. Read at your own risk!
Puffy smiled, carefully petting the little ghost. He had gotten surprised by a creeper dropping between them as she was gathering wood, and had shrunk. She thought he had exploded, and nearly burst into tear again, only for him to swing into her line of sight while clinging to her bangs. Now, he had tangled himself in her wool-like hair, seemingly unbothered by how small he currently was and just enjoying the ride. He was completely different from how he was like when he was alive. With a sigh, she finally reached the mansion in Snowchester, climbing the winding stairs to get back to work on the table he was building.
"Oh, by the way, do have obsidian? I need it for the table. And a nether portal for Snowchester." He stated, pulling a strand between his hands as if it was a rope he was inspecting.
Puffy snickered, gently de-tangling him from the curly strands and holding him to her face. "Yeah, but not here. Let's get the actual table done first though, okay?" Dream- Gream - nodded. She still found the name change... interesting. It wasn't subtle at all that he was related to Dream, but people might think he's a dead relative or something... once the mask was gone. If he ever got rid of it. She was sure she could convince him to give it up eventually.
She set Gream down gently, letting him hop off her hand and onto the ground, carefully sitting down next to him. She then brought out her tools, setting each item down in front of her. Gream watched, staring at the hammer, pliers, scrapers, nails...
"Just give me the book!"
"I can- No. It's been what? Two weeks, and I haven't given anything up. Just give up!"
The man paced, a smile splitting across his face, golden tooth glistening from the lava. He leaned against the netherite blocks, the Warden had gotten into the habit of putting the barrier back up after Dream had tried to jump into the lava. The man turned back around, hammer swinging lazily. "Let's give this a try, yeah?"
"No... Sam! Stop, just leave!"
"Dream?"
"Leave me alone already, you can't have the book!"
"Gream!"
The little ghost gasped, snapping back to the real world. Puffy was standing back, holding Michael and Michelle off the ground; Tubbo, Tommy, and Ranboo were also off, standing in the doorway with Tubbo and Ranboo holding back Tommy, who was leaning into the doorway, stretching out over...
Shit. The whole room was slowly filling with acid. Gream hugged himself, sitting in the middle of the growing puddle. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. It's not my fault..."
"Gream, Gream we know, we know Gream!" Tommy tried to calm the ghost down. He hated when things like this happened. When Gream remembered...Something he'd either shrink, fill the space with acid, or do both. It really was getting tiring, and Tommy was too young to know how the hell to calm down a crazy ghost... who happened to be the ghost of his most hated enemy. Seriously, this had started out as him wanting to get revenge, but that was kind of hard when Gream kept freaking out over minor things.
Puffy set Michael and Michelle down on a shelf, stepping into the growing pool of acid. Tommy saw her cringe as it hit her hooves, a couple of bubbles slowly forming. He was suddenly pulled back, out of the doorway. "OW! What the-" Tubbo pointed down. The acid was slowly making its way out of the room. Shit, they had to do something fast. Puffy carefully walked over to the absolutely tiny ghost, doing her best to hid how much it hurt. Tommy couldn't even imagine. He'd dealt with lava and drowning and fire, he was not about to learn what slimy acid felt like.
"Gream? Sweetie? Can you hear me?" Puffy called out, trying not to loom over him. Gream looked up, only to suddenly look back down, curling into himself. Puffy sucked in a breath, scooping him up in her bare hands. The teens cringed as they saw the acid fill her hand and slowly drip over the edge. "G-Gream? It's me, Puffy. You're... mom? Sweetie? Please talk to me." Gream slowly uncurled, looking up at her from her hands. "What... What's wrong? You can tell me anything." Her smile betrayed her feelings, awkward and unnatural, tears threatening to fall from pain.
Gream looked to his feet, pulling his knees closer to his chest. "The man... I... There's a book... I don't know..." His small fists tangled in his hair, curling back in on himself. "I don't even know... It was a book... Just some book."
A realization came to Puffy at that moment, ears falling flat against her head. A small, strangled noise came from her, the tears finally falling. He died because of the revive book. Her duckling died because he refused to give up the revive book... The only response he was even kept alive in the first place. Her gaze slowly turned to the teens, locking onto Tommy. "You... You..." She couldn't blame Tommy for this, he had nothing to do with her duckling dying, and her duckling had hurt Tommy so much, it would be justice and revenge and it wouldn't be over the revive book. Especially since Wilbur was already back. Tommy stared in horror, the same realization coming to him as Gream spoke. Just who even wanted-
"Sam." The Warden's name felt like venom on Tommy's tongue. Sam, the Warden, knew who had done this. He had let someone visit Dream - Tommy knew this, but it never really hit him until now - after Tommy had died by Dream's hands. After Dream confirmed the book worked on humans. Someone had visited Dream in an effort to get the book, and knowing how Gream acted...
Tommy stormed out of the mansion. He needed to talk to Sam.
Puffy stared after Tommy, confused what was going on i the teen's head. She shook her head, she had to focus on Gream right now. "It's okay. You don't have to remember the book. Clearly it was important... too important to fall into the wrong hands." Puffy sniffled, carefully wiping the tears away so as to not burn her face. "Mommy is so proud of you. You protected everyone sweetie."
Gream looked up, relaxing slowly. "Really? You mean it?"
Puffy nodded. "Yes! You're so brave, and strong. You're my brave little duckling." She held her hands close the her face, closing her eyes as Gream slowly stood up. She felt him hug and nuzzle against her nose, the acid stopping, seemingly evaporating. Magic acid, who would have thought? Puffy opened her eyes again, just barely able to see Gream pressing himself into the short fur that covered her body. She watched him pull away, looking at her hands and hooves. Her palms were red and blistered, clearly irritated and very sensitive, even his little feet felt like burning iron. Her hooves were cracked and breaking, the fragile skin underneath the nail-like material exposed in some spots and bleeding.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to-"
"Shhh, it's okay." Puffy smiled, gently petting her duckling. "I know you didn't mean yo, I know you have something going on in that head of yours. I know it hurts you as well." She removed her hand from his head, carefully maneuvering a finger under his chin so he would look up. "Parents... we are supposed to love our children no matter how much they hurt us..." She took a shuddering breath. "I... I wasn't there, when you needed me... I thought about helping you... but then I turned my back on you." Puffy's voice cracked. Her duckling, who had caused so much pain, suffering, and harm to others had been hurt so badly; and instead of doing the responsible adult thing and visiting him, talking to him, letting him know she cared, she had let him rot in that cell. "If anyone should be apologizing, it should be me!"
She held him close to her chest, falling to her knees as she finally broke down again. Puffy wouldn't let anyone take her duckling to jail ever again. She finally had him back, and she wasn't going to lose him.

Part one
--
How long has he been sleeping for? When he wakes, the sun is high in the sky, streaming in through the window and nearly blinding him. Tommy’s pretty sure that’s what woke him up in the first place. He lays there, hiding under the blanket, even though it does very little to block out the light.
He barely remembers what happened the night before. Barely, but he does recall vague details.
Tommy remembers Techno grabbing him and carrying him through the nether back to this stupid cabin in the snow. Tommy specifically remembers seeing Ranboo staring at him. He doesn’t remember much after that.
Slowly, Tommy stretches and tugs the blanket down, lifting a hand in a vain attempt to block out the sun. Curtains at this point would be perfect, but alas, Techno is either too poor or too stupid to craft some.
When he finally sits up, he feels a pounding headache. It’s something he can fight through, especially considering he needs to get back right away. He has business to work on, and he doesn’t want Sam to worry about him.
“Tommy?”
It’s Ranboo’s voice. Tommy fights back a cutting insult, forcing himself to clench his teeth instead as he responds with a very curt, “what?”
Ranboo pokes his head through the floor, blinking innocently at him. Tommy now remembers that he wanted to punch Ranboo, and he’s certain he could make that thought come to reality. It’s just the two of them, he’s sure, and seeing Ranboo crash to the floor below would probably help, but not by much.
“Er, I thought you might be hungry,” Ranboo says. “I was coming up to check on you to see if you were awake yet, and I...oh. You don’t look happy.”
If Tommy’s eyes could change any color, he’d love for them to change to red. Red is the color of fire and anger, and he wants Ranboo to see how furious he really is.
“I was kidnapped,” Tommy snaps. “Of course I’m not happy. None of you need to waste your time on me.”
“Yeah, but they care about you.”
“Who is they? Techno and Phil?”
“And Wilbur,” Ranboo adds gently. He lifts himself more into the room. Tommy finally breaks out of his frozen stance and moves forward, pressing his foot to Ranboo’s shoulder in an attempt to push him back down.
“Wilbur didn’t care before, he doesn’t get to show up with everyone else and act like he didn’t aid the rest of my family in turning their backs on me.” He narrows his eyes when Ranboo struggles against the pressure, finally managing to dislodge Tommy’s foot.
“Wilbur said he cared last night,” Ranboo says. “I don’t know how much you remember since you were pretty out of it, but Wilbur said you were a family. You two, especially.” He keeps a tight grip on Tommy’s ankle, not letting him go. Tommy gives up on trying to push Ranboo back down the ladder and sits down with a heavy thud.
“I don’t care.” He hates how stubborn he sounds right now. Because of course Tommy doesn’t actually mean it. He does care, he cares more than he wants to. He cares that they’d all banded together and showed up to show him some semblance of love. It’s all crumbs at this point though.
“Don’t you?” Ranboo asks. “Tommy, none of us have to be enemies. A lot of chaos happened to you, but you don’t have to push us away.”
“Shouldn’t you be telling yourself that?” Tommy retorts bitterly. “Like you’re not pushing people away or hiding your own issues from everyone.”
“This isn’t about me right now,” Ranboo says slowly. Tommy knows he’s treading on dangerous ground, but he’s too stubborn to give up. “This is about you and how you cope with your issues.”
“This is exactly about you,” Tommy insists, raising his voice. “You think I don’t know about you sleepwalking everywhere? You think I don’t know how you struggle to remember anything?”
In a flash, Tommy’s being pinned to the ground, with eight feet of enderman hybrid on top of him. He freezes, eyes wide, as he finally feels a spike of fear. Ranboo could destroy him in a second if he really wants to, and Tommy wouldn’t be able to fight back. At this point, he isn’t sure he’d want to.
“Tommy, enough,” Ranboo says, voice carefully controlled. “You and I can push each other’s buttons and make mortal enemies out of each other another time, but I want you to understand that I am not willing to do that. Just because we don’t talk much does not mean I hate you. It’s actually the opposite.”
Tommy’s struggling to breathe now. Not because Ranboo has a knee digging into his sternum (even though that’s painful), but because Ranboo is making more sense than he is. It’s strange to think that someone is actually showing kindness toward him. More than that, it’s someone he can actually relate to. It’s such a strange, alien concept and Tommy feels tears pricking his eyes.
“Why?” He whispers. “Why do you care so much about me?”
“Because Tommy, I think I need you. I need someone to talk to, I need someone to tell me I’m not a bad guy or evil or messed up.” Ranboo finally pulls away. “No one else but you knows what I’m going through. So yeah, you’re right, this is about me, at least partially. But I need you to understand first that you’re not alone.”
“But...Techno?”
“They care about you too. Techno spent half of last night beating himself up over how bad things’ve gotten. They’re still your family, but I don’t think any of you know how to show it.”
“They like you more.” Tommy forces himself to sit up, drawing his knees to his chest. “They didn’t hesitate to take you in. I’m still trying for Phil-”
“They barely trust me,” Ranboo corrects. “Techno barely lets me in this house, they’ve been doing something secretive and won’t tell me what it is. Something about a syndicate, I don’t know, and I’m past the point of caring. I’m literally only out here because I’m done with everyone else’s bullshit, and so are they. It’s not like we’re a family, not like you are with them.”
Tommy nods as if he understands, but he really doesn’t. He’s confused and feeling lost all over again, numbness settling over him. That same familiar emptiness he’s found solace in for so many nights...
“No, hey!” Ranboo shakes him. “Tommy, don’t dissociate on me, please. Stay with me, okay? Actually, come on. Let’s get you some food.” He gets to his feet, pulling Tommy up with him as well. Tommy allows Ranboo to guide him around, only needing to remember to put one foot in front of the other.
“There you go.” Ranboo’s voice is distant now, but he can feel the other teen’s arms around him. “Down the ladder, there you go. You’re okay. You with me?”
“Yeah,” Tommy breathes. “Sort of.” He’s dizzy, he’s spiraling, but he’s leaning against Ranboo once they’re on the lower floor. It’s keeping him grounded, like Ranboo is the end of a tunnel and a chance for safety. “You won’t leave?”
“No, of course not. We’re friends, aren’t we?”
Tommy nods as they start walking again. He sucks in breath after breath, using his surroundings to keep him grounded. Ranboo’s arms around him, the scent of steak and eggs wafting from the kitchen. the sensation of home starts to settle in as well.
“Yeah,” he says after a few minutes. He’s sitting down now, with Ranboo setting a plate of food down in front of him. “Yeah, we’re friends.” He glances up to see Ranboo look elated by that confirmation.
“Cool.” Ranboo sits down next to him, reaching out to pat Tommy’s arm. “Let’s get you settled in for awhile, and then we can work on me. I’ll even page Sam for you, if you want.”
“Thanks, Ranboo.” Tommy hunches forward to eat. Maybe being kidnapped by his brothers and dad hadn’t been ideal, and he knows he has a ways to go before he’s ready to speak to them, he’s glad Ranboo is that bridge to fix the gap.
And hey, maybe Ranboo isn’t so much of an asshole after all.

{Reassurance Gone} Dream SMP Fanfic, pt 2 of Reassured
{Based off of Tommy’s last stream everyone is devastated about. Sorry everyone who reads this if I bring back bad memories. WARNING : Abuse, Blood, Manipulation}
"It's no problem Tommy, I'm always here for you"
Tommy thought long and hard over those words as he sat in the cell all this time with his worst nightmare. Time was almost slowed as the hours no minutes went by. He felt the walls caving in around him, it was so hard to breath, so hard to concentrate. He sat as far away as he could from that nightmare he shared a cell with. The man that had eyes on him with his devilish grin that seemed to never fade. His hands would shake, fingernail imprints dug in to his skin from how hard he would press his fingers against his palm to distract him. His body would quiver even though the lava that dropped from the outside was a few feet next to him. He was terrified of many things, he wished this was a nightmare. He begged that it was so he could wake up and pretend nothing ever happened. But sadly it wasn’t, it was all to real and that was what pained him day by day as he sat in the cell with his worst enemy.
"It's no problem Tommy, I'm always here for you"
Sam had told him before he gotten himself in to this mess, the creeper hybrid was so set on helping him. He was so concerned with him and his mindset, standing right by his side and made sure he was comfortable with everything. Sam had him keep his mindset on something instead of thinking about the bad times he had previously. He truly cared about him didn’t he? He wasn’t using him like almost everyone else seems to. The blonde broken boy screamed out his name, cried for him to come to his rescue. He even screamed for Phil, the man he trusted with most things in his life. But nobody came, he felt his hope fading slowly. Knowing no one would come to his aid at this rate, he would have to tough this out and play the waiting game he hated dearly. But even a thirty minute visit with the villain he hated most made him sick to his stomach. He wanted to see Sam.....he wanted to see Phil, he wanted to see Tubbo. He wanted freedom again that he longed for, for what seemed like eternity.
Days had pasted for what seemed like a month went by, the blonde was so tired from trying to stay up in the nights he stayed. The light of the lava being his only light in the darkness that surrounded him. There was no trust in sleeping around the homeless man as Techno would like to call him. At this point in time he wanted to claw his ears off after listening to the nightmare talk about his stories and his past life before he had met Tommy. To try and pass the time as Dream says. Even after the blonde shouted at him to shut up several times, singing to distract him from his words but nothing would work. He was surprised that a fight didn’t break out sooner between them both. There were few arguments on some things. Like Dream telling him to give up, that no body was coming to save him. Or how Dream left Sapnap and George, that he didn’t care at all for them even int he beginning. They both knew ways to toy with each other’s emotions, yet Dream knew exactly where to stab in order to get the right reaction out of him. But at this rate Tommy was feeling himself go mad as the hours went by with him.
“Sam! Sam let me out Sam! Please!” Tommy yelled as he heard Sam’s voice coming closer to the cell. He was excited once he heard his voice, relieved that he was finally done with the torture of staying in the box with Dream. He wanted to leave, he wanted to see Sam and hug him tight. He wanted reassurance again, he wanted to know that he was finally okay and away from the prison forever. He would leave and never look back ever no matter what would happen to him. Yet once he heard Sam and his reply, his happiness dropped at an alarming rate. His smile faded once he heard his words,
“Tommy I promise you I will figure out what is wrong and I will get you out of there as fast as I can. I promise you okay and don’t you forget that. I’ll make sure you come out as soon as possible but I have to make sure there is no possible way of Dream escaping again” Sam shouted through the lava in order for Tommy to hear him somewhat. The blonde just stared at the lava with his mouth slightly open in a confused stare. He thought he was done, he thought his time in here was now over with. He was done, he was supposed to be free from the hell he was living him. He needed to leave now, he couldn’t bare another second of this madness. Tommy clutched his shirt tightly, his breathing was becoming short and heavy like something was on top of his chest. He could feel tears forming in the corners of his eyes. His wrapped hand quickly wiped them away, he shouldn’t show weakness at this moment. He didn’t want to cry in front of Dream over this, Dream would most likely use that against him now wouldn’t he. Tommy bit down on to his bottom lip slightly as he tried to calm himself down.
“B-But why Sam....you said a week” Tommy barely spoke, holding back his anxiety and sadness as he spoke toward Sam behind the lava. It was to hard doing this for a week and now there were extra days added on to it? What was Sam thinking? What was he doing, he knew Tommy’s fears, he knew what Dream had done to him in exile. So why was he not understanding that he needed to be let out now.
“Tommy....I-”
“SAM FUCKING LET ME OUT! PLEASE SAM! I”M BEGGING YOU....please....please just get me out of here....I-I can’t do t-this anymore” Tommy whimpered as he fell to the floor on to his knees. Tears slipped down his cheeks with a sizzling sound of them dropping to the floor near the lava. The smokey smell filled Tommy’s lungs as he sat only a foot or two away from the burning lava. His eyes clenched as he tried to hold back his sobs, he was grown up. He shouldn’t be crying over this right? Yet he felt it was the right thing to do at the moment since there was nothing else to exactly do.
“Tommy you can stay in there for a bit longer I know you can....Tommy you’re strong, you can stand a couple more days in there....Don’t give up hope now alright, I promise I’ll get you out of there soon. Just trust me on this, Dream can’t be let out of the prison. Many lives depend on that Tommy, I’m sorry I know how terrible this is for you and I want to get you out of there I do”
“It’s kind of hard to do when you told me I’d be stuck here for a week Sam...7 DAYS! 7 days is what I was told and now you’re telling me MORE! I KNOW MY RIGHTS, I KNOW WHAT I SIGNED IN THAT BOOK SAM” Tommy shouted to the point where he started to cough. Blaming it on the nuclear reaction to Tubbo’s rocket crater. Sam covered his mouth, noticing the strain in Tommy’s voice as he shouted across the lava barrier that separated them both. The creeper hybird hated himself so much as he heard him yell over and over again for him to let him out. He wanted to open up the lava barrier and bring him out so badly. But this was protocol, he couldn’t bring himself to even do it. His hand hovered over the button that would remove the lava and bring the path over for him. Hesitation was all he felt as his shaky hand went over the button several times to try and press it. After swearing that he would protect him so much he couldn’t even bring himself to open up the gate and bring him out. He wanted to just grab him and tell him everything was gong to be okay. The idea of Tommy being stuck with the server’s number one dangerous person made him sick to his stomach. He made a promise to him and here he was breaking it....what was he doing? What was he thinking?
“Sam.....you know...I-I don’t do well in small areas Sam....this is worse then exile sam....this is way worse the exile...please let me out...I don’t like this.....I-I can’t do this Sam *sniff*....I need out....I need you....I-I can’t be in here with him anymore *sniff*” Tommy cried as he wiped his eye with his palm, trying to calm himself some what. Attempting to do the breathing exercises Sam had taught him when he would panic like this.
“I-I know it’s not the best but I can’t let you out Tommy....not now....just a couple more days-” Tommy clenched his hands tightly, his breathing was not easing up as he sat there. His fists pounded the floor in anger, why couldn’t he just understand what he was going through.
“FOR ONCE STOP BEING SUCH A PUSSY AND SHOOT HIM IN THE FACE! LET ME OUT! PLEASE I’M BEGGING YOU SAM” There was a long pause after Tommy screamed at him. For a second Tommy thought Sam was actually gong to listen and bring him out like he wanted. But the silence was just because Sam was speechless toward Tommy and what he screamed. he has never heard him scream like that before. Even when TechnoBlade and him were yelling at each other during the festival.
“I promise you you’re gonna be out soon, you just need to stay strong Tommy” Tommy’s face fell once he heard Sam utter those words to him once more. Like a broken record on replay over and over again. No matter how much he pleaded Sam wouldn’t open up the doors. He probably wouldn’t if Dream was hurting him either.
“j-just....just fuck off” Tommy replied as he covered his eyes with his palms that hurt from him hitting the ground. Sam held his hand out toward the direction Tommy was in. Clenching his fist as he retracted it back, replaying the words the boy had said over and over within his head. He sounded so terrified and so hurt. Same hated himself for turning around, his feet were slow as he basically dragged them while walking away. He couldn’t bare looking at the lava that contained the prison cell anymore. He couldn’t bare thinking that Tommy was in there suffering because of him.
Tommy sighed as he stood up from his spot on the floor, his head turned around slowly to find Dream simply smiling as he stood up against the side of the wall.
“Oh come on, it’s not that bad Tommy”
“It is and I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, you’re ugly!” Tommy shouted as he walked back over to the wall next to the chest that contained their books they shared. He wanted to sit and be alone with his thoughts that seemed to just be bad. Yet the masked villain didn’t seem to know anything about alone time now did he?
“Yeah yeah I know you say the same thing every 10 minutes I get it., I get it don’t you worry” Dream held his hands up in defense, his sly smirk never faded from his face as he stood there. He enjoyed watching Tommy fidget and yell in his anxious state, he didn’t need to write anymore to keep busy. All he had to do was watching him and his comedy act he played. Tommy’s blue orbs darted over to him as he stood up against the wall. He rolled his eyes as he hugged his knees tighter to his chest. Calming himself down from achieving a bigger panic attack that would soon come on. He hated Dream so much, he hated Sam for not coming to help him, he hated himself for even coming here in the first place. He wanted to go home, he wanted to go back to his hotel he just finished. Why was it so hard to achieve happiness, why is there something always in his path when he finally get’s something he wants. Life couldn’t be more unfair to him then it was right now. He was just so done with everything, and yet his mind kept telling him not to give up hope like he wants to dearly.
“Tommy....hey I have an idea okay hear me out....why don’t we break out together huh, you get what you want and I get what I want?” Tommy stared at him for a second as he watched Dream push off of the wall and walk toward him. What was Dream trying to do now to him, he told himself never to fall for anything he says ever again.
“what...no because then you’ll be out with me and I don’t want you to break out. You deserve to stay in here Dream for everything you have done, I don’t” Tommy replied shyly, resting his head back down on to his knees. Dream just stared at him, his eyes squinting as he tried to read Tommy’s facial expression. He knew he wouldn’t be able to manipulate him any longer, the boy had grown smarter since the last time he played with his emotions. It would be harder to take advantage of him this time. But he was up for the challenge, it was always quite fun to have something new. Dream sighed as he turned his back toward him, watching the lava fall from up above where the entrance is.
“Fine....I’m gonna get out....and you...you just motivated me *points towards Tommy*. You motivated me all this time you know that. Seeing how dedicated you are....” Dream smirked as he watched Tommy’s facial expression change to irritation and anger. He was going to escape, he knew he was, he just needed to right plan and the right moment to do so.
“I’m going to get out....and when I do I’m going to have my revenge.”
“what the....what the fuck does that mean?....W-What does that mean Dream?” Tommy stuttered as he lifted his head up from his knees, slowly making his way up against the wall as he watched Dream. Tommy could feel a shiver go down his spine as he watched him. He was enjoying this he knew he was, this was all just a big show to him and nothing more. He was just trying to get a rise out of him. What was sad was it was working and he hated it. He shouldn’t let Dream get a hold of his emotions but it was so hard not to listen.
“It means I’ll get my revenge Tommy, What do you think that means”
“on who....oh OH ON EVERYONE WON’T YOU! YOU’LL GO AND YOU’LL KILL...you won’t kill everyone won’t you...you wouldn’t kill anyone......of course you would wouldn’t you you bastard.....you sick sick bastard do you fucking know that!” Tommy muttered underneath his breath as he turned away from him. Dream was a sick human being, human being if that. He would take the chance to kill anyone if he was given it. He used Tubbo against him to give him the disks back. Everyone is just another pawn in his grasp that he plays to get what he wants over all. He has said it before, he doesn’t care about anything he just wants power. Even if it meant him hurting the ones he used to care about.
“You’ll kill Tubbo won’t you?”
“Tommy.....I’ll get revenge on who ever wronged me” Dream chuckled as he watched Tommy boil with rage. His fist came forward and was met with Dream’s jaw line. Dream took a step back and held where Tommy had punched him. He seen Tommy clenching his hands tightly as his teeth grinned against each other. His rage was taking over his body at the moment, the show was just ow getting better for the prisoner.
“YOU WILL NOT KILL TUBBO!” Tommy yelled as he came forward and punched him again once Dream stood up. All Dream could do was laugh to himself as he spit to the side. Feeling blood drip from the cut on his lip. His steady fingers reached up and touched his bottom lip. Seeing the red on his finger tips as he pulled his hand slowly away
“Stop hitting me Tommy, you really don’t want to do that now”
“No....fuck you...fuck you Dream!”
“Fuck you Tommy...aww you’re so...I’ve sat hear, listening to your bullshit this whole time you have been in here with me!....You’re whining and crying about how this is worse then exile out int he middle of fucking no where. This is soooo terrible, you’re sitting in a box-”
“YEAH, I’M CLAUSTROPHOBIC...A BOX....A SMALL BOX AT THAT YOU FUCK. THIS IS THE WORST THING ANYONE COULD DO TO ME!!”
“I’ve been sitting here for a hundred times longer then you! *pushes Tommy back roughly* And you sit there and tell me that it’s so horrible and so bad..But we have each other to talk to don’t we. You keep pushing me away like that is going to do anything. I’m used to the silence here, I can handle myself just fine. But you on the other hand, it looks like you need someone to distract you from this sticky situation you’re in” Dream replied pointing at the blonde boy across the room from him.Tommy showed his fangs as his upper lip raised to scowl. He hated him so much, he was his enemy not his friend. He was the man that tortured him in exile for weeks, the man that turned his best friend against him and made sure no one would come to see him. The man who made his life a living hell and made him think of jumping off in to lava in the nether several times to escape the world he lived in.
Tommy laughed slightly as he walked forward toward Dream, he wasn’t going to be scared of him. He put him in this prison, he was the on that took two of his lives away from him and he could take away the third as well.
“You don’t have me....you’ll never have me....WE don’t have each other alright.....I am me and you are just t-this loser who goes around manipulating people. LYING to get what he wants.....you are a fucking no one man, you’re just a sick excuse of a human being you know that? huh..You truly are, I don’t know what George and Sapnap seen in you....You make me sick” Tommy chuckles softly as he runs his fingers through his messy hair, trying to read Dream’s expression as he stood there in front of him.
“You might have a favor, who is it TechnoBlade? Is he going to struggle to get you out....No no no TechnoBlade doesn’t like governments, he likes self gain....*laughs* Do you really think he wants to piss off the owner of the most powerful building on this entire land Dream?  The Blade is smart....he wouldn’t go out of his way for someone like you even if he does have a favor he owes you. I know Techno better then that, he knows how and when to play his cards right and you aren’t in his plans” Tommy smirked as he remembered his times with the Blade out in the snow where he used to stay. The good times they shared of chaos, yet calming times by the fireplace for dinner in the evening Phil would cook for them. Those were times he missed dearly, times he wished he could earn back with the Blade. Sometimes he goes back and thinks about what would have happened if he didn’t betray the Blade back then. Maybe he would have been by his side right now and protecting him against Dream like he used to.
“But I do know something he might want....He likes knowledge right?” Dream asked with a smirk as he watched Tommy slowly stare at him in thought. Tommy was getting even more irritated, the blonde reached forward and pushed Dream again. Dream knew Tommy’s relationship was still a touchy subject even now, he would use that against him if he was going to act this way.
“Shut up”
“He likes being a couple steps a head of people....I know how he can think, he is good with strategy....just because I am trapped in here doesn’t mean I have lost my knowledge Tommy! You know how grateful he’ll be once he see the book of reviving, he wouldn’t have to worry about Phil holding him back with his one life-”
“SHUT UP, YOU DON’T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIM!” Tommy yelled as he punched Dream in the arm as strong as he could. Yet it seemed like he wasn’t even fazed with him. Dream only laughed slightly underneath his breath as he fist came around. The wind was knocked out of Tommy as Dream’s fist landed right in to his stomach. Tommy clutched his stomach in pain as he tried to catch his breath. A coughed fit started as tears formed in the corners of his eyes. But before he could stand up, Dream’s fist came around again and again. Spit was coughed up on to the flooring as Tommy crouched down. Trying to catch his breath in his coughing fit he was having. Suddenly his hair was pulled back tightly, making him look up in pain as Dream pulled his hair to make him look up forcefully.
“Even though I’m in here I’m still more powerful then you are when you’re outside..It’s always been true and you know that....You should fear me” Dream smiled widely, but soon frowned upon Tommy’s unfazed look on his face.
“Stop fucking talking *coughs* for once in your god damn obsessed life.....I fucking hate you.....I hate you so mu-” Tommy’s face went to the side as Dream’s knuckles met with his cheek. A pop was heard as blood dripped from his nose. Yet Dream brought his head right back up again, noticing the blood that gushed down his lip.
“Says YOU? You have been ANNOYING ME ever since you have gotten here. EVERYDAY non stop whining! Whining about your fears, Whining about getting out and going to your Hotel. Whining about EVERYTHING” Dream shouted as he punched him again across his face. Bringing his head back up all over again so he could look at him. Tommy spit across the floor, blood mixed in with his saliva from his cut lip and oozing nose. His vision was hazy as he sat there, his eye must be swelling from his broken nose already.
“r-right now I could just kill y-you....and the only reason I’m not is because of my friend Tubbo....because we need that revive spell book or whatever the hell it is Schlatt gave you that you talked about.....you’d be dead already if you didn’t have that book” Tommy replied, spitting on the ground yet again to avoid the iron taste he hated dearly. Dream’s grasp left his hair as he took a couple of steps in front of him. His crazy laugh was something that couldn’t be forgotten. Tommy slowly reached up and wiped his nose of the blood that seemed to keep falling. His bandaged hand was now red from all the blood it gathered up.
“I am never using that revival book to help you....or ANY of your stupid little friends that you have....I am NEVER....NEVER EVER going to use it, on you, on any of your friends that you have and will make. I will never use it to save any of you and that’s a promise I will keep. SO just kill me, go a head come on....it’s not like I’m useful for anything, hell you’d be doing me a favor. Being trapped in here sucks, I’d be free if you’d kill me so DO IT” Dream yelled as he held hands arms out wide. Watching as Tommy stood up from the ground shakily as he clutched his stomach with his left arm. His eyes were wide as he stared at him in confusion, almost like he believed Dream would help him in the first place. He should have known Dream wouldn’t have helped him, but the look of shock was to priceless too pass up for the villain in the smiley face mask. Tommy glanced toward the ground, he couldn’t be serious right? He needed that book to revive Wilbur, he needed that book to help him and his friends now and in the future. What was he going to do now? He didn’t know what to do, what to even say next to the man in front of him. He was terrified of what to come next, he wanted to call out for help, he wanted back up but no one would come to his aid. He was all alone with a person so blood thirsty, he couldn’t even protect himself against.
“Once Tubbo dies, you’re just going to come crawling back to me. BEGGING me for that book....and I’ll simply say just let me out....But that won’t ever happen and Tubbo will just be dead for ever and it will be all your fault, all because you wouldn’t let me go.....it’s simple really, once he dies that’s all it will take for you to come and see me again for the book.....and I’ll asked the same thing every time you do...let me out”
“What to you mean when Tubbo dies?....What do you mean”
“If Tubbo dies” Dream corrected himself even though he already meant what he was going say. Once he is let out that will be one of his first targets to go after. The pawn that got in the way of so many of his plans in the past. The pawn that was supposed to die a long time ago and yet his death never came. Tommy turned his head, his hands were starting to clench once more as he thought about it. Thought about what Dream would do if he was let out in to the world yet again. All the damage and destruction that would come in his path once he leaves the prison. No one would stand a chance against him out in the world. Everyone one that sided against him would all be dead in a matter of days wouldn’t they?
“I’ll get out eventually, because either you’ll let me out or people will be dead....You need me....you need this book and I come with it whether you like it or not” Dream said as he crossed his arms tightly to his chest, almost like he was starting to pout. Tommy glanced to the side, trying to ignore the pain in his face from getting hit to many times already. The blonde started to shake his head ever so slightly as he was in thought. Dream raised his eyebrow underneath his masked that covered his scarred face. Confused as to what the boy was thinking as he stood there weakly. Tommy slowly met with the drawn on eyes of Dream’s mask. Wanting to see his full expression as they were arguing just to see what was going on inside his head. He was just so done with everything, he was exhausted and just didn’t want to argue anymore. Yet his brain begged him for the answers that Dream was keeping from him.
“The revive book.....it isn’t real is it?....it’s not fucking real....because from what I recall in exile all you do is lie to me....You lie to me and then you unveil this at last moment!” Tommy shouted as he pushed Dream back once more, to show he wouldn’t back down from him. But all he could see was his smile on his face as he stepped back. Tommy chuckled lightly as he wiped away the blood going down his chin.
“When we went down in to your pit.....here’s what you tell me *proceeds to point at Dream* Oh it was me that reorganized your beach party, it was me that blew up the community house. Basically framing me for every wrong thing you have done to make people hate me even more” Tommy replied in a frustrated tone, he knew he was stepping in to dangerous territory. But he was going to make he point whether he was injured or not. He was not going to back down from Dream any longer, at least that’s what he told himself. Tommy stepped forward, closer and closer toward his enemy that stood still patiently. Tommy pointed toward him, poking him in the chest as he came right up in front of him. So close he could tear off his mask right now with ease.
“You are a clinical manipulator.....a PSYCHOPATH if you will.... For all I know this revival book that you keep doesn’t even exist. Your little card that Jschlatt gave you to play. Jschlatt was just a big fucking drunk mad man alright! He wasn’t some powerful guy that had access to this kind of bullshit! He literally died from a heart attack or a stroke I don’t even know, but that man was not powerful in anyway....Do you really expect me to believe that he had that book? Fuck off man” Tommy replied as he pushed Dream back some more. His back was now up against the wall, yet he cold expressionless face seemed to never change. The boy would admit this was terrifying standing so close to him. He has been afraid the moment the explosions went off and he had to stay in here with him. Maybe even before that, yet he wouldn’t admit it to himself. As Tommy stared at Dream he finally faced him. Trying to think of what words he should say to him at the moment. There was a long pause before he continued,
“I’m NOT lying, Jschlatt gave me a revival book before he died” Dream replied, now pushing Tommy away from him so he could get some space away from the wall. The blonde didn’t believe a word that came out of his mouth from this point on. Why should he when all he has been told were lies coming from him.
“How about you revive him then....revive him right now!” Tommy stubbornly replied, his arms out wide as he stared at Dream. The masked villain knew non of his words were getting across to him in this moment. Tommy was really irritating him at this point in time.
“WHY WOULD I BE LYING ABOUT THAT HUH” Dream yelled loudly, scaring Tommy as Dream came forward and punched him in the gut again. This time Tommy wasn’t ready to defend himself. He just took the blow to his stomach once more. A whimper came out of his mouth as a few tears fell down his bruised cheeks.
“Oh what? To save my own skin or something? Is that what you think happened huh. I’m not afraid of you or any of those people out there?” Dream asked as he came forward and grabbed Tommy by his hair. Tommy whimpered in pain as he looked at Dream.
“e-exactly, because you’re a liar....you’re a big fat fucking liar.. Through your armor and skin you know what I see?” Tommy coughed as Dream hit him in his stomach once more. Bringing him back up to face him, every time he tried to speak Dream’s fist would collide with one of his body parts. His bottom lip busted and bleeding down his chin as blood flowed out from his broken nose. He could barely see out of his left eye at this point in time.
“a-all I see is a sad little man....w-who is insecure about how this world has gotten so far a head of him....a-and that his only little power in this world is gone from his grasp.... I see a sad little man alright.. You are a nobody Dream, you are NO ONE!”
“Tommy...don’t you realize that your life is literally in my hands....does that make you mad? Does that make you sooo mad?” Dream asked as he watched blood gush out from Tommy’s nose. The bruising underneath his eye was starting to get worse and worse.
“I know you won’t kill me Dream....you said it yourself back at your bunker....You can’t say shit to me” Tommy spit to the side, wanting to hurl from how much blood was in his mouth. The taste of iron was overwhelming on his taste buds as it mixed in with his spit. Tears still fell from his cheeks and on to his shirt.
“You can’t kill me Tommy......but I CAN kill you!”
“I could kill you right now if I wanted to” Dream’s leg clashed behind Tommy’s knee sending him to the floor. Tommy rolled over and attempted to kick Dream back. He escaped his place on the floor and tried to run for the other side of the room. But once he got up he was pushed back down to the floor in a matter of seconds. Tommy flailed as Dream held his ankle in place, the boy kicked and turned but he couldn’t shake his grasp he had on him. He couldn’t give up, he shouldn’t. If his friends and family has taught him anything, it was to not give up.
“And yet you won’t even try to kill me, you’re running away from me in this small cell like I can’t just catch up to you.....you’re so stupid to think that there is a way you can escape me.....do it....do it if you want to...I know you want to kill me Tommy....After everything that I have done to you! DO IT!” Dream shouted as he punched Tommy again and again in the face. Hearing him cough and spit blood on to the flooring beside him.
“n-n...no....I-I’m leaving soon-”
“You know you want to kill me Tommy....so come on!”
“Stop it ....STOP IT” Tommy struggled to pushed himself away from Dream on the floor. His vision was getting hazy as he pushed himself back as much as he could. All of his energy was gone as he sat there, watching his enemy come closer to him as he sat with his weight on his elbows.
“LOOK AT ME!.....the only reason I’m not going to kill you is because you are locked up in here....and and I’m going to be let out soon and live my life outside of these walls. Knowing that you’ll be trapped in here all alone for the rest of you life.....if I killed you, that would take away all the suffering that you deserve for hurting so many people” Tommy managed to spit out with a laugh as he watched Dream stop right in front of him as he sat there. The blonde weakly tried to push himself back up in to a better sitting position. He was about ready to stand when he slowly raised his head to look back up at Dream standing there in silence.
“I don’t believe the revive book is real Dream.....Schlatt is fucking dead and he should stay that way...I’ve seen his grave....his corpse is there inside that coffin he doesn't deserve....Big Q ate his damn heart for Christ sake....that book isn’t real Dream....so just give up the act alright” Tommy said as he stood up, his knees buckled as his whole body shook standing there. His breathing was uneven and shaky as he watched Dream stand there with no expression on his face. As Tommy slowly started to limp back over to their chest right by the sink to wash the blood off from him he heard footsteps behind him. His body ached as he bent down as best he could to splash his face with water. But once he felt cold hands on his neck he knew what was about to happen next. Dream pulled Tommy away from the sink and banged his head on the side of the edge. Blood dripped from the corner as the gash on Tommy’s forehead opened up wider.
“Then why don’t you go and join him then?” Dream suggested in a monotone voice that sent chills up Tommy’s spin. The frightened boy tried to escape from his grasp around his neck. No matter how hard he struggled Dream’s grip seemed to tighten around his neck. Making it hard for him to breath after a few seconds. Dream slammed Tommy’s head up against the wall this time. Blood smear as his face met with the rock that couldn’t be broken easily by their mining fatigue. BANG,
-----
“Tubbo....do you think we will ever make it big some day?”
“How do you mean Tommy?”
“Like...become well known hero’s or something?” Tommy asked as he fixed his sitting position on the bench that had his name carved in to the side of it along with Tubbo’s. The blonde glanced over at his best friend as he sat there. The sun set shined upon them with orange light as they watched it fall together. Tubbo chewed on his bottom lip in thought, a regular habit he has always had since they were young.
“Yeah”
“You really think so?”
“I think we could in the future.....we’ll become the best known hero’s in the world I tell you Big Man” Tubbo replied with excitement in his voice, even though his was getting hyped up on the thought. Tommy had a rough time believing that that would actually happen. The thought was nice but he felt as if it was to unrealistic at the moment. The blonde brought his hat around and stared down at it. The dream of him being a hero with his best friend by his side was amazing. But how would they even get there, where would they even start. They aren’t even adults yet and they are already fighting in a war. That’s when the thought of their deaths struck him, what would happen if they died and couldn’t return.
“What’s wrong big man?” Tommy jumped as he was brought out of his thoughts by Tubbo’s question. He hated that Tubbo knew him like the back of his hand some times. He didn’t want the brunette to worry about him, he wanted him to worry about his own needs. But Tubbo being the selfless guy he is would always care even if Tommy pushed him away. The blonde set his hat down in his lap carefully before answering. Looking back up at the boy with light shining on his left side.
“What...”
“What’s wrong, you’re doing that thing where you fidget with something as you’re in thought”
“Oh ah....it’s nothing Tubbo”
“Promise?”
“Yeah...I promise...it’s nothing”
“If there is something you know I’m here for you Tommy, I always will be if you forgotten that already”
“I know I know Tubbo....thanks” Tommy replied with a smirk as he seen Tubbo’s grin on his face before he turned to watch the sunset once more. The chill breeze that flew by as they watched it slowly fall below the tree line.
“It’s no problem Big man...I know you would do the same for me”

Blood spilled on to the ground as Tommy cried out for help. His voice was broken and hoarse as he called at for Sam over and over again as his head was banged against the wall over and over. Tears spilled from his eyes as he cried out in the cell. Coughing on his own spit and blood as he continued to scream. The camera in the corner of the room still worked didn’t it? Sam would come to his aid right? Sam promised him he would be protected, that the creeper hybrid would protect him of this foul monster hurting him right now. Was all he said a lie? Was it just to comfort him and that was it? BANG went his head again against the cold wall, blood dripped over his eye from the gash widening on his forehead.
-----
“Wilbur wait up man!”
“Tommy you’re to slow hurry up now we need to head to the tree before sun down. You know how concerned Phil get’s when we aren’t back by 7″ Wilbur yelled back as they ran out toward the tree he claimed with with his initials in the bark. Wilbur had insisted on showing Tommy the sunset that day after watching it himself. The blonde boy was super excited to see what his brother had to show him. He didn’t even care that he didn’t have a jacket to keep him warm in the cold summer breeze.
“We’re almost there, come on Tommy!” Wilbur shouted as they ran up the hill. Finding their tree at the top where no other tree stood. The brunette soon came to a stop, hearing Tommy coming after him as fast as he could. The young boy gazed at the tree, the bright yellow and orange light shined through the leaves down upon them. Tommy laughed as he ran toward the tree after staring at it for a couple of seconds. Wilbur soon chased after him as he ran closer.
“This is AMAZING WILBUR....We need to show Dadza...I want to show Tubbo and Techno. Can we can we please!!” Tommy begged as he held on to Wilbur’s arm. Making the brunette laugh slightly, his hands ruffled up Tommy’s hair before reaching up on to a branch. Wilbur pulled himself up higher in to the tree. Leaving Tommy amazed on the ground as he watched him sit up higher. Wilbur smirked as he held his hand out, meaning he wanted Tommy to join him. The mischievous child smirked as he took a couple of steps back. Running full speed toward the tree, his shoes caught the trunk on a piece of bark as he grabbed a hold of Wilbur’s hand. Having the brunette pull him up to his height and sit down nest to him as they watched the sunset fall.
“We can show them tomorrow if you want to Tommy”
“YES! Thank you Wilby!” Tommy shouted, not even realizing he used his nickname for him. WIlbur laughed softly as he fixed his spot on the tree branch he sat upon. His hand reached in to his pocket and pulled out one of Techno’s knives he used for target practice back at home. He held it out for Tommy to hold, watching his light blue eyes widen in amazement.
“Go on...Write your initials in the tree like I did over here....we’ll get dad and Techno to do it as well” Wilbur replied as he watched the blonde move closer over toward the trunk of the tree. He steadied his hands as he carved a T and an M in to the wood next to Wilbur’s W and M. Except he added Big T underneath his name like he always does with his signature. Th boy looked back at the brunette who smiled at him warmly. A yawn escaped his lips slightly as they sat and watched the sun for a few more minutes in peace.
“Wilbur”
“Yes Tommy?”
“What do you think id going to happen to our initials when we grow older. Will they disappear?”
“No...when we grow older, the tree grows older too. The bark will grow over if we didn’t cut our names deep enough in to the tree”
“Oh......Well I hope when we come back here that they will stay and we can carve them out again” Wilbur smiled softly as he ruffled up Tommy’s hair yet again before jumping back on to the ground. His arms were out wide and waited for the blonde to jump down. Tommy caught what he was trying to do and jumped in to Wilbur’s arms. Not afraid if he was going to drop him or not.
“I hope so too Tommy. This is our own special thing”
“Yeah it is!”
-----
BANG! He was desperate, calling out for anyone. Tubbo, Phil, Techno, Sam, Ranboo, he just needed someone to help him. Some one who cared for his safety, his hope was not all forgotten in this moment. He tried so hard to get out of Dream’s grasp as he held on to him tightly. Leaving bruising from how tight his grip was. No matter how many times Tommy tried, he failed to escape from him. He failed to protect himself all this time, he wasn’t confident in himself fighting Dream. He was much rather terrified then anything else. That’s when his vision started to blur, black dots started to surround his vision around the room. BANG!
-----
“Are you sure Sam if it’s okay that I take a couple minutes for a break” Tommy asked as he walked beside Sam on the path leading to the brand new hotel that had opened up for everyone. Sam smiled softly as he reached over and ruffled up Tommy’s hair slightly. Something Tommy would only let the creeper hybrid do and no one else really at the moment.
“Yes of course I’m sure Tommy, you can always take a break if you need one. I’m not going to make you work if you are tired....Now speaking of breaks, we should probably take care of your hair....Don’t you think it’s getting a little long?” Sam asked as they made it to the front of the hotel with ease. The blonde boy chuckled slightly as he rested his oak logs down by the front he was planning on using later. His wrapped hand reached back and grabbed a hold of his blonde his in a small pony tail. He hasn’t had a haircut since staying at Techno’s house from Phil a couple months back.
“I kind of like the new look Sam....But I probably could have a inch or two cut off....it is starting to get a bit to long for my liking now that I think about it”
“It’s you decision on how you want it Tommy....let me go and grab some scissors real quick so I can help you alright”
“Will do Sam Nook” Tommy smiled softly as he watched him quickly run toward the community house that was rebuilt. The boy sighed softly as he sat down on a chair in the lobby of his hotel. The blonde was so tired of working all day, but was so happy Sam was generous enough to let him rest. He couldn’t have asked for a better mentor and friend by his side. He would never say it but he needed his comfort or else he wouldn’t know where he would be with out him.
-----
“p-please s-stop dream....p-please” Tommy choked out, preparing himself for another blow to his head that came soon after. BANG another time his head was bashed against the wall. Tommy tried as escape once more as he choked on his loss of air. His legs weakly tried to kick Dream in order to break free from him. Yet all the masked villain could do was laugh at his pain and misery as he attempted this plan. Dream took his foot and smashed Tommy’s leg up against the wall forcefully. Breaking the skin on his shins and knees.
-----
“Phil....are you sure that it should be brewd this way....I thought it was with fermented spider eye?”
“Nah mate...in order to make a potion of healing you need nether wart which we just did, glistering melon and glow stone dust to make it a healing potion 2 which I believe is better then a regular one” Phil replied as he pulled out the bottle from the brewing stand and sniffed the top of it. Make sure it was fully brewd this time instead of the last batch he thought was done. Tommy nodded his head slowly as he added the glow stone powder Phil handed him earlier. As he slowly added it in he heard footsteps coming from up stairs. His head jerked to the side and found Techno placing his chest plate on to him self before he slipped his cloak on.
“And where do you think you’re going mate? I thought you were going to take it easy today?” Phil asked without even looking up from his work.
“Going out on a small hunt Phil, shouldn’t take more then an hour out there maybe a bit more. We are running a small bit low on meat and I’m getting sick of eating golden carrots all the time” Techno replied as he rested his cloak on top of his shoulders. Fixing his golden crown on top of his head.
“Can I come too?”
“You want to go hunting? With your loud mouth you’ll scare everything away”
“Oh come on Blade, I’m not that loud”
“There was a spider in your room the other day and you screamed as loud as you could and begged me to kill it”
“T-That is different....I’m not that loud!” Tommy replied, his cheeks red with embarrassment since he knew Phil had no clue about what had happened that night. A nervous laugh left his mouth as he stood there, hearing Phil’s chuckle from behind him. But soon his hand went to his shoulder,
“Come on Techno....I tell you what, you both go hunting and I’ll start making some dinner alright. If you catch anything we’ll add it to the menu. Sound good?” Phil suggested, seeing the look on Techno’s face change. Tommy glanced over at him as he stood by the door, Techno slowly glanced to the side as he rolled his eyes.
“Fine....but I’m not slowing down for you, so you better hurry up before I leave you behind me” Techno replied as he grabbed his boots by the doorway. Smiling softly to himself as he heard Tommy scramble up the stairs behind him to go and grab his gear he needed for the journey.
“He’s growing on you isn’t he?” Tommy could hear Phil’s voice from down the stairs as he was fixing his own chest plate.
“Shut up Phil” Was all Techno replied, making Tommy’s smile grow twice as big then before. It was just like when they were younger again.
-----
BANG.......BANG....The cries soon became quiet after each hit. Tommy’s wrapped hands fell from trying to remove himself from Dream’s grasp around his neck. His arms fell to his sides as his legs gave out underneath him. His body limp as Dream let go, watching his body fall to the floor with a satisfied grin on his face. The message boomed in chat as the notification went wide to everyone that was on or near the area.
Tommyinit was slain by Dream
"It's no problem Tommy, I'm always here for you" Was what the boy thought in the beginning of this madness that surrounded him. His happy thoughts were fresh in his mind as he felt his consciousness slip away from him. Death came knocking at his door in a way he never thought would really happen. He was finally free of the pain that surrounded him, yet unsatisfied with his outcome. He didn’t die a hero, he died a victim that couldn’t do anything to prevent his death. What would everyone else think upon seeing his dead corpse. Yet all of his thoughts were now away from him as darkness surrounded his vision. He felt himself be stretched as he was in the void, a place no one was familiar with. He turned his head back and forth to see if there was anything around him. Anyone for that matter, was he dead? Was his final life taken from him? Tommy sighed as he started to walk forward, with one last turn of his head he stopped and just stared. Stared at the brunette he hasn’t seen in forever. He thought fear would be gone, but it only returned with anxiety as he seen him. Him and his worried and confused stare.
“W-Wilbur?”
“Hello Tommy”

hey, so i wrote something but i feel like this is too serieus for wattpad but too bad for AO3 so i’m just going to dump this thing here.  enjoy!
It was an ordinary Sunday afternoon. The three boys and their father were watching a (somewhat childish) movie when suddenly the doorbell rang. As Wilbur, the oldest, was about to open the door, his father, Phil, stopped him: ''You can continue watching the movie, I'll go.'' ''Thanks Dad!" he quickly sat back down next to his twin brother. ''You are welcome, my boy.''
As Phil walked to the door, he was not quite sure who he was expecting. It could not be the mailman since it was Sunday, maybe it was the neighbours who needed sugar again. yeah, that must be it.
So imagine his surprise when he opens the door and sees his old army commander standing in front of him. He'll never forget the way his breath constricted ever so slightly, the way his back straightened and his hand flew to his forehead out of instinct. "K-ommander Simons, good to see you again," he brought out quickly from his already tense throat. "You can stand down, Private Watson, I have come with a message." The single father led the man into his house, gesturing for him to take off his coat and hang it on the hanger. Then the man took off his shoes as well, since Philza himself was not wearing shoes either.
"Sir, would you like to speak to me alone or do you not mind if my children listen in?" the man nodded slightly, saying that he would rather speak to the whole family at once. Philza instructed the man to wait by the door for a moment as there was a blanket fort on the living room floor, snacks littering the salon table and a sixteen year old and two eighteen year olds sprawled on the floor. He just nodded politely and told him not to take too long as he had some really important news.
The moment philza disappeared behind the living room he expelled a breath he did not know he had been holding. that did not bode well, he was a little scared though he would never admit it. He was going to be sent to another war though he was a war veteran retiring at the young age of thirty because his wings had to be amputated and now two black stumps sprouted from his shoulder blades.
His children immediately sensed the tense aura emanating from him and stopped nudging each other to give him a concerned look as he told them to clean up and that his former commander was there. All three of them immediately shot up and started cleaning up, of course they did, none of them had forgotten the day their father had once again fought for their country while they stayed with the Awesome family. The man had come to their door to escort them to the hospital where their father had a large gaping wound on his head, several broken bones and most importantly two amputated wings. they were all afraid that he would have to leave again, they had only had their father back for two years. They were also afraid for his health. They all knew he was suffering from severe ptsd and survivor guilt, hell that was the reason Tommy learned to use his inside voice around phil. their father could not take the loud sounds of crying anymore. He was now going to a weekly appointment with a psychologist.
the room was cleaned up in no time and phil ushered the man waiting at the door inside. he was met by the sight of three boys sitting side by side with messy hair and bright pyjamas covering their frames. he felt guilty, almost, he hated taking fathers away from their families, but on the other hand, if they did not fight, there might not be any family left to return to. that's how he felt, no knew he had to. philza was one of their best men, even if the man had lost his ability to fly now. He can still take out entire divisions with just a sword and his wits. so he knew he was a much needed asset to win the war they had been fighting for years. the same war the now flightless bird had to leave. The commander slowly explained the situation of said war, why he was needed back and when he was to leave. Phil said goodbye to him at the door.
He took a few deep breaths, forcing down rising memories of smoke, gunpowder, the decaying smell of corpses - both friends and enemies. Then he returned to the living room, tears streaming down the faces of all three of his boys. He walked wordlessly over to them. He reached to hug them, but all but Tommy pulled away, Tommy lunging straight into his arms, but the others were silent. He comforted Tommy quietly for a while, but finally motioned for him to lie down on his lap so he could look at the others.
''Are you two okay?``Of course not, they would not see their father for at least 6 months. Wilbur scoffed at the question. ''Do you want to go back?'' Techno asked him in a calm voice. ''No, no I do not. But I have to. They need me.'' ''But we need you too!'' Wilbur yelled. So loud that Tommy, who had fallen asleep in his father's comforting embrace, woke up. Philza flinched harshly at the noise. His mind switched back to the survival mentality he was so familiar with. His eyes became cold and calculating, no longer thinking rationally. His entire mind was filled with the need to get away from the sound. He promptly pushed Tommy off his lap and walked out of the room.
Wilbur knew he had made a mistake, that he should not have yelled. But he was so angry, not necessarily at his father. More at the army, at the political leaders who ran the war, the people who allowed so many men to suffer from the fight they continued.
Tommy just lay there. In the same place he had been when his father pushed him. They were used to this, it happens every time someone yells. It's also why every time there are fireworks, the man is in his room with headphones on to block out the noise. They knew he'd be in the training room, beating his knuckles black and blue with some punching bag.
When it was time for dinner, their father made dinner and acted like nothing ever happened. The boys set the table and took seats at it while Phil put down the pots and pans. ''Look, I know you are angry that I have to leave again. That I have to leave while I am out of the army.'' All three boys looked away from Phil, not wanting to look him in the eye. ''Look me in the eyes, boys.'' All three slowly turned their heads and eyes in his direction. ''I have a gift for you.'' He handed each boy a small necklace with a heart pendant. Each pendant was engraved with the four names of their family members. ''I need to be real with all of you,'' he inhaled sharply and continued. ''I can't promise that I will be able to come back.'' In that sentence, the boy's eyes snapped up from the present to their father. There was an almost pleading look in them. ''What do you mean?" whispered Tommy, sounding like he was about to cry. ''The enemy is strong, very strong. I have seen the things they are capable of. I have seen them torture people. The only reason I am alive now is because I had my wings protecting me. Otherwise, I would be dead right now.'' Tommy was actively crying now. ''I can not promise I'll be back,'' he looked each of his boys in the eye ''but I can promise I'll love you all to the end. I am so proud of the three of you.'' ''We love you too, Dad.'' Wilbur whispered back.
The day Phil had to leave came sooner than they thought, unfortunately. Faster than they wanted it to. He packed the supplies he needed and was now waiting for the plane. The three boys, along with Sam and his sons, George and Quackity, standing next to them, all had tears in their eyes. Phil was dressed in his military suit, holding his armor in a bag in his arms.
''I love you three so much'' were his last words before boarding the plane.

An analysis of The Last of Us Part II and its themes
I’ve seen a lot of people share their experience with playing The Last of Us Part II, and it’s safe to say most of it has been largely negative. It’s no secret this might be one of the most divisive games of all time, and it will probably stay that way for a long time after. I personally adored this game. I believe this is the masterpiece of masterpieces, and it’s the only game to ever top the emotions I felt when playing the first game, although I will say in terms of raw story (with nothing else like gameplay to support it) the first game is still a bit higher on the list for me.
But for all intents and purposes, when considering all aspects of this game, I think this is the single greatest accomplishment in game design and storytelling I’ve ever seen in a video game. That being said, I would like to try and respond to some of the criticisms this game has gotten, and furthermore, I’d like to try and analyze some of the themes I noticed when playing the game. Keep in mind this is MY opinion, and should not be taken as fact. This is just my experience, and I’ll respect yours one way or the other.
Take this as a MAJOR WARNING that there will be spoilers for both games in this post.
With that, let’s start with the common criticisms:
1.       “They killed Joel for no damn reason. He deserved better.” This is an easy one to tackle. For one, Joel most definitely did not deserve better. Even though we might love him for being the first game’s MC and have grown attached to him, there’s no way we can or should look past the fact that he, Joel, is a bad man. He even says himself in the first game that he and Tommy did some questionable things to survive in the 20 years between the outbreak and even during the events of TLOU. While he may be perceived as the hero of the franchise, when you look at his rap sheet, you start to notice he’s not so great after all. Take the ending of TLOU as the most glaring example, where Joel has been told Ellie must die in order for the Fireflies to develop a vaccine. His first and only reaction is to kill every single Firefly he sees and murder the surgeon who would have killed his “baby girl”. Would I have done any different in his shoes? Probably not, but that’s the beauty of the first game. Its ending and the ambiguity of Joel’s morality given his actions is one of the driving forces that make the first game so spectacular and why it’s still being discussed 7 years later. Now let’s talk about the second point to this criticism: “He died for no reason”. If you recall, the people who killed him were former Fireflies, one of which (Abby) was the daughter of the surgeon whom Joel unceremoniously killed. In their eyes, they had every right to go after Joel. Like Anthony Caliber, one of the best TLOU speedrunners, said in one of his recent livestreams, “Joel signed his own death sentence when he killed Marlene and the surgeon back at the hospital in TLOU1”. While it may seem overly zealous to us as players who have grown to love Joel, if the roles had been reversed would you not do the same? Would you not want revenge for the killing of your father? And isn’t that exactly what Ellie is doing in this game, which most players justify in this hatred of Abby?
2.       “Joel was out of character in giving out his name and trusting strangers. They dumbed him down for the sake of plot.” As I recall, Joel literally gave Henry and Sam his name and followed them out to their hideout barely 30 seconds after meeting them and beating the shit out of Henry. Joel may be an untrusting person at heart but he always does so with reason. The most common reason people give of this is “He didn’t trust the guy asking for help in Pittsburg and ran him over so why trust Abby and her gang”. First of all, that was literally the one situation Joel had already been on the other side of, and knew perfectly well it was rehearsed. On the flipside, he and Tommy had just saved Abby and literally mention there’s no other way to go other than with her because there’s a huge blizzard and a herd was after them. And especially now, after Joel has been living in Jackson for 4 years now and has been living comfortably in a community very obviously open to new people. Abby’s group gave them no reason to distrust them, and giving out his name, in any other situation, would have made no difference in the outcome. It was just unfortunate they happened to be after him.
3.       “I hate playing as Abby, why are they trying to make me sympathize with her?” That’s the whole point, they’re not. The entire game, you keep rooting for Ellie to find and kill this woman who wronged you, and when you’re forced to play as her, you’re understandably angry. You’re upset, and you feel you have to slog through this seemingly endless section of the game. But as you keep playing, much like I did, you start seeing the other side of the story. Abby is not the villain the game paints her out to be when she killed Joel. She’s another human being with human emotions and a very real reason to hate Joel and to want him dead. As I said before, Abby is doing exactly what Ellie eventually does after Abby kills Joel.
4.       “Why would Ellie go through all that effort to not kill Abby in the end?” I will touch on this in the analysis of the themes, but simply put, it was about breaking cycles.
Now I’d like to start defending how and why I believe this is a masterpiece by first taking a look at one of the admittedly less touched upon parts: gameplay. This aspect usually takes a step back when it comes to narrative-based games, and it is obviously not the most resounding part of this game, but it is clearly not taking a back seat either. The flow of both combat and mellower scenarios in this particular game is astounding. When battling opponents, the AI feels like one of the most intelligent I’ve ever seen in a video game. The way the enemies communicate between each other, telling the others when the player is out of ammo or when they’re flanking to create much more nuanced fight sequences, coupled with the expanded worlds Naughty Dog has come up with to create a seamless experience when fighting hordes of enemies without it feeling stale or repetitive, is one of the most immersive gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Each encounter feels unique and challenging in some ways you may not have felt before in the game, and by the end you’re so immersed in that feeling that going through the Santa Barbara group (to me, at least) was almost automatic and I could see so many different options for me to approach each situation as it came my way.
Likewise, Naughty Dog have managed to turn the puzzle solving from the first game, where you simply had to find a dumpster to step on or a door to open with a shiv, and incorporate the environment and world into it, finding clever ways to get over obstacles without simply having a step-up ladder be the end of it. The mechanics that went into the rope puzzles, breaking windows to get to previously unexplored territory (which is admittedly not new in gaming, but still a cool concept to add to the franchise) paired together with so many more new little features to bring the world they created to life, and bring you into it as well.
As always, and as was the case with the first one, you can’t talk about The Last of Us without talking about the soundtrack. The haunting score created by the masterful mind of Gustavo Santaolalla, a fellow Argentinean like me, brought to life some of the most heart-wrenching moments and the most beautiful ones as well, in a way that can only be achieved with amazing sound design and music. The main theme song, which is a sort of homage to the one from the first, takes a much darker approach, choosing instead to focus on the bass and that resounding low voice in the background, setting the tone for the rest of the game: a much darker, grittier, and grounded experience that will pull no punches. Santaolalla managed to create a score that mimics the first one in melody and rhythm, while succeeding in mirroring it to create a more dissonant accompaniment to the gruesome story you’re brutally killing your way through.
Another aspect of the game that deserves all the praise it gets, and one that people seem to at least be in consensus about, is the graphics and animation design. I can safely say this is hands down the most beautiful, gorgeous, astounding, breathtaking game I’ve ever laid my eyes upon, and that might not be enough adjectives to fully encapsulate how I feel about the graphics in this game. One can argue all day about the morality of the characters in the game or the balance between right and wrong that Naughty Dog so masterfully plays with in the story, but one thing is for sure: The graphics design team deserves so much credit for actually bringing the story and the characters we know and love to such vivid life. You can see it in the little things, like the veins in Joel’s arm as he plays “Future Days” by Pearl Jam and the facial expressions Ellie can make if you stand in front of a mirror during the museum flashback; you can also see it in the larger things, like the jaw-dropping backdrops that range from a beautiful mountain range in the snow to the downtown Seattle skyline. No moment will be wasted by stopping your pace to just admire the absolutely gorgeous view you’re presented with every time you enter a new game world. The attention to detail in animation is also not lacking at all, with so many little actions being given special treatment as we see Ellie patch herself up and still having the actual bandage over her arm instead of disappearing like any other game, or the way Ellie’s fingers perfectly (and correctly) play chords without resorting to generic hand gestures. You can see the love and care the developers have for this game in every tiny crack in the game that simply takes your breath away and that sometimes you won’t even see from the vastness of the world around you.
And finally, the story. It is definitely a divisive story, and Neil Druckmann did warn us it would be. There were times, namely the moment they switched the POV to show me the first 3 days from Abby’s perspective, when I was genuinely wondering what the hell they were thinking. My faith in Naughty Dog never wavered, though. I kept playing because I thought, “There must be some reasoning for this.” And to my greatest relief, it finally clicked for me a few hours into Abby’s section. Namely, the moment where she meets Lev and Yara, two Seraphites that defected after the former shaved his head. At first, it seemed weird that they would be cast out for such a stupid reason, but then you start to get to know them, and you understand the real reason they had to leave their religious cult. As I said before and will say again, this is a game about perspective. Up until that point, I just wanted Abby dead, albeit with some guilt since learning that it was her father Joel killed in that operating room. But seeing Abby’s willingness to help total strangers, much like Joel did at the start of the game, was what sold me on this game’s concept. The purpose of this story is to make you feel the regret and the weight of the actions you impart on the world, as you can see the carnage Ellie left in her wake during your time as Abby, seeing Abby’s friends butchered by either Ellie or Tommy, realizing they’re no different than the villains we have such tunnel vision about. The ending is something I’ll get to in the themes, but I just have to say I love the way it’s such a parallel to the first game’s ending, up to the point of divisiveness in the people who actually played and finished the game (which at the time of writing this is less than 4% of players).
Now onto the themes. One of the things people always praise about the first game, and rightfully so, is its themes and how well it portrays them through certain characters to create a cohesive and coherent story that pulls at your heartstrings and makes you root for the “heroes” of the game. This time it’s not much different, with the minor exception that this time, there are no heroes. Just like Neil Druckmann said many times during the development of Part II, “While the first game was about love, this game is about hate”, which is one of the main themes.
1.       Hatred: I can safely say there have been very few times of my gaming life where I’ve been so viscerally angry (in a “good” way) while playing a video game as I have as I tore down through countless enemies that got in the way of me and my target. This game will let out the worst parts of you in ways you can’t even imagine, and will make you take a look at the way we glorify violence in video games without the usual preachy tone of “video games cause violence”. Like I said before, this is a game that mirrors the first one while paying homage to its themes. To take a page out of Abby’s book, it’s like a coin. There are always two sides to it. On the one hand, the first game’s main theme was love, and how loss and grief can be overcome with it with the proper care and time. The Last of Us Part II shows us the uglier side of human nature, which is anger, despair and a natural desire for revenge (another theme). Both games show us the natural progression of a grieving person, but both of them take wildly different approaches. Granted, we don’t know how brutal and vicious Joel was right after losing Sarah, but it’s safe to assume he was nothing short of a monster, which eventually didn’t really help in dealing with that loss until he found love and hope in a little girl whose safety was now his utmost responsibility. In Ellie’s case, she’s still in that first stage. Ellie as a character has always been reckless and foolhardy, and her actions in this game are a testament of how well Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross know their characters. The entire game, right up until the final moments where she’s about to finish Abby off, her actions are fueled by a rage and desire to exert justice onto those who’ve wronged her. In other words, she’s looking for revenge.
2.       Revenge: Both main characters have at least one thing in common, and it is their desire to avenge their father/father figure. I truly believe that Joel’s death was not only justified (from a storytelling perspective) but also crucial to the development of a sequel that both enhanced the world of The Last of Us while building onto it with new ideals and perspectives. The idea this time is definitely not one we haven’t seen before in so many other mediums: “Revenge is bad and is never worth it” Seems trivial to even suggest it when we all know the outcome, but The Last of Us Part II manages to not only build upon the idea that revenge is a double-edged sword, but it also manages to balance the perspectives within that cycle to attempt to explore the psyche of the characters we’ve put into the boxes of “hero” and “villain”. And subsequently, they manage to break that characterization by showing us both sides of the aforementioned coin to see, in no unclear terms, that the consequences of our actions when dealing with vengeance always circle back to expose the nastiest side of our nature. It stands to reason that we, as the player, would at first be on board with Ellie “finding and killing every last one of them”, and demonizing Abby for not only killing but torturing possibly one of the most beloved characters in gaming history. We want her dead. We want her to suffer for the crime she’s committed. Yet, in our quest for vengeance and justice, would we not be succumbing to the same cycle that brought Abby to killing Joel in the first place? Did she not think, from her perspective, that she was entirely justified in killing the man who had not only destroyed the one chance humanity had against the Cordyceps, but also murdered her father in cold blood? Are we not the same as Abby for wanting her dead after she kills one of our own? When does it end? And that’s the real question. This whole thing, the lust for revenge that can only be quenched with cold-blooded murder, is just another facet to our complex and grey morality as human beings. It’s natural for us to feel angry and upset at this, and I believe all the hatred people give this game that stems from it forcing you to play as Abby is the exact nature the game is trying to bring out of us and show to us in a mirror.
3.       Cycles: While this may not be such an obvious catch as the first two, it’s still very much ingrained in the inner workings of this game’s narrative and how both characters view the world according to their reality and perspective. The concept of revenge, as stated above, is a repetitive one. One that causes cycles and events to repeat themselves if left unchecked, and The Last of Us Part II plays with these masterfully. Starting the game with a heartbreaking moment and setting the dark tone for the rest of the game is what starts the first part of this cycle, which is Ellie wanting to avenge Joel’s death, much like Abby avenged her father’s death after 4 years of despair, planning, and training. Ellie’s desire to kill Abby is what leads her down the path we would characterize, were she some random character and not the main one of the franchise, as the villain’s route, going down a dark path that prompts her to mindlessly and mercilessly slaughtering countless people whose names you hear from their friends’ mouths when you kill them, to the point where you end up getting to Abby’s closest friends and companions and murdering them too, not unlike Abby murdered Joel. It is a sobering feeling to realize the character you most love and root for is, in the eyes of the other main character, as much of a villain (if not more) as we as players make Abby out to be. It is at the end of the game, which a lot of players had qualms about, where Ellie is beating Abby within an inch of her life that she realizes this is not worth it. Killing Abby will not bring Joel back, and will certainly not bring her any satisfaction, as showcased by how traumatized Ellie was after the killings of Abby’s other friends and the fact that she still kept seeing Joel’s lifeless body as she attempted to drown Abby on that coast. Then, as we are mercilessly choking the life out of her, which is yet another example of the visceral anger the game elicits from the player, we see a different memory of Joel. One of hopefulness, where Joel is playing the guitar and smiling. It is at that moment that Ellie realizes the only thing she can do now is to move on with her life and accept Joel’s death as something that happened. To add onto this realization, it’s probably good to mention that Ellie must have seen some of herself in Lev in that killing Abby would have left him (if not dead) in a state much like the one she, Ellie, was at the start of the game. Coming back to the theme of cycles, if Ellie killed Abby, what’s to stop Lev from coming after Ellie the same way she came after Abby, and so on and so forth. Both these things coupled help Ellie finally break the cycle and go back to the farm, where she’s greeted with the consequences of her actions in a more emotional and real way than the PTSD: Dina being gone and Ellie leaving her guitar behind, symbolizing her letting go of Joel’s memory and accepting her reality.
The game scares us; it scares me. It is a harrowing experience that will only get better with time and will, in my humble opinion, go down as one of the greatest games of all time for years to come. No matter the context, and no matter the medium, I wish it were easy to find such real, emotional, and powerful pieces of art as this one more often. But alas, we will have to wait and see. As someone whose name I can’t seem to remember said: “This will mark the gaming industry and divide it between ‘Before TLOU2 and After TLOU2”

- Tommy meets with Wilbur at L’manhole
- Wilbur tells Tommy that all his memories are coming back. He remembers that Friend isn’t Tommy’s sheep but his own.
- Wilbur wants Tommy to show him around to see what he’s missed. He takes Friend along despite Tommy worrying that Friend could die (”Who cares about a sheep, man? It’s just a sheep.”)
- Wilbur’s made some plans, debated with himself what to do now, and tells Tommy that he’s sorry. It may be hard to believe, but Wilbur’s turned over a new leaf! He feels great now and wants to apologize to people.
- Wilbur is in his forties now and asks how old Tommy is -- twenties, thirties?
- First off, Tommy shows Wilbur Schlatt’s grave. Wilbur asks to see his own grave to see what people said about him. Tommy shows him L’manhole. Wilbur didn’t get a grave, only what he left behind.
- Wilbur sees Karl’s house (which he remembers), the Big Innit Hotel (which he doesn’t) and says he does remember a bit about the prison from Ghostbur’s memories of it.
- Skeppy comes walking past and they speak with him. Wilbur apologizes to Skeppy for not appreciating his trolling. Skeppy kills Friend by accident. He skepped all over Friend.
- Skeppy runs away and asks Bad if tridents are like swords in terms of damage. Bad asks what he killed and learns that it was a blue sheep. Skeppy puts the trident in an Ender Chest. Bad warns Skeppy that he may have inadvertently started the next war, and Skeppy ends stream
- Wilbur comes across the invisible staircase and Tommy shows him the McPuffy’s. He asks about Karl. Last Wilbur remembered, Karl was an enemy of his, but has he changed? Tommy says he hasn’t seen Karl around much.
- They reach the hotel and Jack Manifold is standing at the desk. He and Tommy get into a shouting match but Wilbur is excited to see Jack. Jack welcomes him inside and Wilbur waits in one of the suites as Tommy and Jack argue in another room, listening in.
- Tommy takes him up to the roof. There, Tommy tells him about coming up with the plan there to murder Dream in the prison.
Wilbur: “I’ve seen it all, you’ve had your little strifes -- this isn’t the first, right, Tommy. Tommy, do you remember when you got sent into exile? Yeah, I remember. I was there, Tommy. I was there. I was there -- I was in the cage of that little ghost’s fucking head. Every single step you and me took -- look at me, Tommy, look me in the eyes -- every single step me and you took, I was there -- I was there! I had no control of what was happening, I’ve no idea what was being said, but Tommy -- I’ll tell you what -- if I was there, and it wasn’t that stupid shell of a ghost instead of me...I would’ve struck down Dream right where he stood. We would’ve disemboweled him. We would’ve disemboweled him together.”
“Tommy, I’m not -- I wasn’t blind, I saw what he was doing to you, Tommy. I saw. I saw what he was doing to Tubbo -- I saw what he was doing to me. But you know what, Tommy? I wasn’t there. I wasn’t there, was I. We had Ghostbur. Ghostbur was there instead, right. And you know what the issue is, you know what the issue is? After seeing Ghostbur interact with Dream, I realized that no, Dream is not the enemy -- Dream is not the enemy!”
“This world was not supposed to be inhabited by a people of this caliber -- Dream is the hero! Dream needs to be let out of here! Dream’s not in prison for being a horrible person, Dream’s in prison because he dared to try and stop you all. He dared to try and stop you all from gaining all this power, because the minute I was gone, there was a vacuum, there was opening, and everyone just seeked to get in there! And Dream was the only one who stood up to them and told them not to, Dream was the only one who held my seat for me. He held my -- he kept it warm! He kept my throne warm, and you guys didn’t like that, so you threw him in prison! And if Dream died instead of me, I would be in there right now.”
“So Tommy, you should thank that I wasn’t alive to attack Dream when we got exiled! You should be glad we had little, passive Ghostbur, because now Dream’s in there, and I’m out here, baby.”
- Wilbur heads back down to speak with Jack Manifold. He tells Jack that he’s sorry that he didn’t grant freedom to Manifoldland, sorry that he led Jack into war, sorry that he denied Jack access to the election, sorry that he left Jack behind. Jack is a little surprised, but he thanks him and Wilbur and Tommy leave the hotel.
Tommy: “Wil, just look at me for a second. The reason we started L’manburg, and everything here, was because we knew -- together, me and you, the duo -- together we knew that Dream was the villain. He was the one holding this server down. He was the dictator! ‘Cause you’re telling me even then, you think...you think Dream was the hero?”
Wilbur: “Tommy, I’ve made an oath of not lying now that I’m alive again. So I’m gonna come clean to you with the truth. Uh...one thing, I didn’t actually care about L’manburg, I just cared about -- you know, sticking it to the man. Actually, I cared about L’manburg for the sole reason that I could use it to stick it to the man. You ever sticked it to the man, Tommy?”
“L’manburg was a tool. It was a great tool, it worked, you know. It divided so many people, man. Listen, Tommy, and in my oath of not lying I’m gonna tell you know -- Tommy, I’m sorry for a couple things, to each of these people on the server. I’m sorry to a lot of them -- except for Phil, I’ve nothing to apologize to Phil for. Phil’s done nothing wrong. But to the rest of them, I’m sorry for a lot of things -- but Tommy, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna try again.”
- Tommy is confused. L’manburg was Wilbur’s unfinished symphony, how could he not care about it? Wilbur says maybe it wasn’t the right wording, he did care about L’manburg, but for the “wrong reasons.”
- Wilbur asks to see the museum (though Tommy was going to take him to the Egg). They make it to the museum and Wilbur is excited to see the hto dog van as Tommy continues to protest.
Tommy: “It was like we were a family! You can’t just say that!”
Wilbur: “We were family, Tommy! ...We were. But you know what? You just -- you just didn’t -- I guess you didn’t have the balls to follow along with me. When I pressed the button, you were always against -- we’re leaving it behind, Tommy. It’s in the past--”
Tommy: “You blew up our fucking home!”
Wilbur: “We’re friends now. We’re friends.”
Tommy: “I don’t want to be your friend! You’re annoying and I hate you and you’re ugly and you have a gray hair and I bet you twirl it round and use the dog filter--”
Wilbur: “You’re following me an awful lot for someone who doesn’t care.”
- Wilbur notices the Ranboo My Beloved poster on the wall. He remembers Ranboo as a good man. Tommy says he is, and that he sees potential in him.
- They call Ranboo so that Wilbur can properly meet him. Wilbur says he’s sorry to him. He wanted to get to know Ranboo better, ‘pick his brain.’ Ranboo never met Wilbur in person.
- What nation is Ranboo a part of, who does he align himself with? Ranboo says all of them -- he chooses people, not nations.
Wilbur: “Okay, so -- let’s go an say, so there must be someone bad on the server right, there’s gotta be a bad guy on the server and who --”
Ranboo: “Yeah. Dream, yeah.”
- Wilbur goes quiet for a moment. He then asks what Ranboo stands for. Ranboo says people.
Wilbur: “What ‘people?’ What people? You can’t just stand for people! People are good and bad!”
- Ranboo lists the people he sides with. There are quite a few.
Wilbur: “Everyone? Everyone but Dream, everyone but the one bad guy everyone’s supposed to hate.”
- Wilbur accuses Ranboo of being a “schmoozer.” Ranboo's philosophy is, if someone hasn’t wronged him or the people he cares about, he has no quarrel with them.
- Wilbur says that’s fine in a perfect world, but there are wars that get fought. Ranboo says the server’s been quiet ever since Dream was put in prison and there have been fewer wars since Wilbur died -- to which Wilbur asks if Ranboo is against him in the same way he’s against Dream.
- Wilbur says goodbye to Ranboo, saying that they might get to know each other better in time. Wilbur leaves with Tommy to continue the tour, telling him that Ranboo’s just a follower.
- Tommy gets angry and tells Wilbur off for being a nuisance, for making him feel like a ghost when Wilbur should be the ghost. They decide to fight, with weapons but no armor.
- They fight in the Holy Land and Tommy defeats him. Wilbur says, though, that he’s already won no matter what. No matter what happens next, he won when he pressed the button.
- He asks to see Phil. Phil sent him a whole backlog of letters, including ones about things Tommy can’t know about.
- They arrive at the Arctic and Wilbur remembers this place, remembers finding Friend here. Wilbur reunites with Phil and Wilbur is thrilled by the cottages.
- Wilbur thanks Phil for killing him and tells him the whole bit of what would’ve happened if he’d been there instead of Ghostbur.
- Tommy tells Wilbur that what led to him getting exiled was griefing George’s house with Ranboo. Ranboo didn’t get exiled because Tommy stood up for him -- to which Wilbur asks if Ranboo didn’t stand up for Tommy, letting Tommy get thrown under the bus.
- Phil asks about the lies in the letters. Wilbur tells him that he’s not lying anymore, and he lied in the letters because it’s like writing back from a summer camp -- he didn’t want to tell Phil that everything was going horribly.
- Wilbur’s made plans, and when they’re ready, Phil will be the first to know. He also asks Phil if he can stay with him for a bit, as he has no house. He also needs a shower.
- Phil agrees to let Wilbur stay despite Tommy protesting, and Wilbur and Tommy leave.
- Ranboo comes over to ask Phil how it went. Phil was skeptical, but it seems like Wilbur’s changed for the better, and that Wilbur spoke highly of Ranboo. As for Ranboo, he says it seems like Wilbur isn’t as bad as people said he was.
- Phil talks about killing Wilbur and what Wilbur said about it.
- For Wilbur’s plan, he needs lots of stone. Wilbur leaves Tommy at the Nether Portal to go get stone and speak with Phil.
- Phil gives Tommy several stacks of stone.
- Wilbur says he’ll be “back in the saddle” soon, that he can rebuild. He still doesn’t know how he was revived, but the first thing he saw when he got back was a chest.
- At the shrine, Wilbur opens the chest and reads the “PROJECT NEVADAS” book Quackity left for him. His old rival, his kinsman.
Wilbur: “Chat, power isn’t won through diplomacy. Power isn’t won through waiting, patiently, floating courthouses in the sky, blah blah blah...it’s won through blades. Swords. Iron...”
“And I was right all along.”
- Tommy leaves Phil and Ranboo for a bit and they continue to talk about Wilbur, whether he’s changed, whether he’s even telling the truth about the afterlife and if even Dream can change.
- When Ranboo mentions that he may have to keep some secrets, Phil asks about the experiments. Ranboo reiterates that they’re just to build resistance, like when a wound heals over stronger. He assures Phil that he’ll be careful.
- Ranboo then leaves to go stand in a corner somewhere for a bit. He doesn’t sleep much, and if Phil ever sees him walking around staring at random things, it’s nothing to worry about
- Tommy goes mining for stone with Mediashare
- Captain Puffy works on the graveyard. She reads the Wiki page for Sally the Salmon and makes some horrible discoveries. She later finds out the Samsung Refrigerator has its own page as well and spends some time learning about the canon family tree.
- She then makes the gravestones and fills out the history books for each of the dead members, including a spot for Ghostbur behind Wilbur’s headstone with his final words.

Two Kinds of Snapping
They’d been saying the same things to each other for a week, the argument running in maddening circles as Dream spouted his usual insane drivel and Tommy shouted abuse back. He kept going on and on about the revival book, and Tommy wished he would just shut up about the stupid thing. It probably wasn’t even real.
Tommy is stuck. Losing it. Trapped with the person he hates the most on the entire server, and no one's getting him out. Conflict is the natural result.
Or, I write the dsmp prison scene ’cause angst go brrrrrrr
No I did not have the teletubbie kill him with a potato. Thought about it though.
Warnings: Graphic descriptions of violence, Major character death, very much not a happy fic
Relationships: Canon compliant Dream and Tommy (aka: ENEMIES)
Word Count: 1,501

Tommy was done. He was so sick and tired and stuck and hurting and he wanted out so badly that he was ready to fly apart at the seams. The prison cell was infuriatingly small, and Dream’s presence in the corner was unignorably large. His fresh bruises were smarting from their short-lived scuffles and he had a long scratch on one arm sluggishly leaking blood from their most recent fight.
It hadn’t taken them long to switch from furious and resentful words to physical violence. Tommy had lashed out first, with a wild roundhouse punch thrown in desperation on his second day trapped, but Dream had shown no hesitation when he swept his feet out from under him in retaliation. Almost every argument they had ended with Tommy sprawled on the floor in an incandescent state of boiling rage, and he always came out worse in their exchanges. His body was littered with marks, but Dream was only sporting a swollen cheekbone from a lucky blow and a couple scrapes.
Tommy didn’t know why he kept trying. He’d never be able to beat Dream one on one, but there was so much seething anger bubbling up inside him that he felt like he couldn’t help it. They’d been saying the same things to each other for a week, the argument running in maddening circles as Dream spouted his usual insane drivel and Tommy shouted abuse back. He kept going on and on about the revival book, and Tommy wished he would just shut up about the stupid thing. It probably wasn’t even real, just a bluff to make him let down his guard.
He got up from his spot at the edge of the room and started pacing, tracing his now-habitual route back and forth along the netherite strip. His thoughts were running in loops again, repeatedly telling him that the only thing he wanted right now was to leave. He knew that already, he didn’t need his brain freaking out about it. He was pretty sure he’d had at least one panic attack. He didn’t want to spiral into another.
He’d asked the question a thousand times before, but he couldn’t stop himself from asking again. “How long’s it been,” he snapped.
“Close to a week now,” Dream replied evenly.
“What’d you mean close to a week? Either it’s been one or it hasn’t! I want out of here now!”
The other man shrugged. “Nothing I can do about it. Sam must still be dealing with the security issue.”
“That you’ve caused, stupid idiot. I’m done with you. When I get out of here, I’m never coming back.”
“Aw, wouldn’t you miss me?” he crooned.
“No. Hell no. I’d rather die.”
Dream’s eyes flashed. “Would you, now?”
He shuddered. “Not literally. You’re sick in the head.”
A grin tugged at the corner of the prisoner’s mouth and he stood up, moving a step closer. “But think of all the fun times we had together. I want to be your friend, Tommy. I’d certainly miss you.”
Tommy angrily rounded on him. “I want nothing to do with you,” he snarled, stabbing an accusatory finger towards his chest. “You can rot in here for the rest of your life for all I care. I’m getting out, and I’m leaving you behind forever. I’m gonna forget I ever knew you. There are people out there who care about me more than you ever will.”
Dream took another step. “But I do care about you, Tommy. And here’s the thing,” he leaned in, “are you sure the others are your friends? After all, you’re still stuck in here, aren’t you?” He smiled, an expression too wide for his face. Tommy hated how it looked.
“Shut up,” he growled, turning back towards the lava. “Of course they are.”
A hand rested on his shoulder, and he batted it roughly away.
“So irritable,” Dream mused. “You have the shortest fuse of anyone I know.”
“Gee, do I?” he muttered sullenly. The hand returned, and he slapped it off. “I never want to see your idiotic face again for the rest of my life.”
“But if you stayed with me, think about how much longer that would be. I could give you another life. Heck, I could give you as many as you wanted. I want to help you, Tommy.” He reached for the teen’s shoulder a third time.
Tommy ducked out of the way, pushing the larger man back. “Not back to this thing again. I don’t believe it. That stupid book isn’t real. You’re just trying to get me to buy into your lies, but I won’t do it.”
Dream’s eyes glittered darkly as he closed the distance between them. “Oh, it’s real, alright. I don’t think even Schlatt knew the extent of the power this book gives. I don’t know what I can do to make you believe me.”
“Nothing,” he blustered, disliking the closeness. “I’ll never side with you.” He planted his palms in Dream’s chest and shoved him away, feeling the start of another fight brewing in the air. His enemy stepped neatly backwards and kept his balance, smiling his creepy leering grin.
“Oh, come on. Do you really want to do this again? We both know how it ends.” He spread his stance into a more stable boxing pose.
“I hate you. You’ve made my life hell for months. I hate you!”
He rushed at Dream and attempted to drive his shoulder into his stomach, but his opponent side-stepped and tried to shove him to the ground. He barely kept his footing, tripping forwards for a few steps before whirling around to face him again. He yelled in rage and charged a second time, aiming for his feet instead. Once again Dream dodged and grabbed Tommy’s elbow as he tried to run past, hauling him around and throwing him to the ground.
He scrambled back to his feet in time to avoid the kick heading for his gut and stumbled away from the swinging fist that swiftly followed. He tried to get in a counter punch but was blocked by Dream’s other arm. A sharp pain burst in his knee as Dream sent a sudden kick flying into it, and the hit distracted him enough for the other man to shoot a rapid jab straight into his nose.
His head snapped back and he cried out, automatically bringing his hands up to his face as his vision blurred with reflexive tears. That was all the opportunity Dream needed to kick him squarely in the stomach and send him crashing to the floor. His head cracked painfully against the obsidian, stunning him as more pain blossomed in his skull.
This is where he’ll back off, something in his brain told him. Their fights always ended quickly.
But Dream drove his foot into Tommy’s gut a second time, putting his full weight into the crushing stomp. Tommy yelled in agony as he drew his foot back up for another blow, trying to roll to the side and get out of the way. Dream followed the movement easily and the second stomp landed on his ribs. He heard something crack and the pain multiplied, another scream tearing itself from his mouth.
He tried to get away, pulling himself towards the far end of the room, but he couldn’t drag himself more than a few inches before another devastating hit slammed into his sternum. He couldn’t stop screaming, he was in so much pain. It was the worst pain he’d ever felt, being shot by an arrow was paling in comparison to his organs being pulverized by a heavy boot. Dream wouldn’t stop, laughing maniacally as his foot pounded into his torso over and over again.
“How about this to convince you?” he screeched, unhinged. “You can go ask him yourself!”
Tommy tried to say something, but Dream kicked him in the jaw and the words were choked back in another cry of agony. His insides felt scrambled and wrong and painful and he’d never felt anything so bad in his entire life. He tried to curl up around his ruptured and bleeding stomach, tears streaming down his face, but moving felt worse so he stopped.
Dream was still hitting, crunching his fingers into the ground and grinding his arms against the obsidian floor. He knew things were breaking but he wasn’t thinking about what, brain consumed by the indescribable torture pulsing through him in time with his heartbeat.
He knew he was still screaming but it was past voluntary, a primal, animalistic noise that should never come from a person’s throat.
He knew Dream was still laughing. The raucous noise was psychotic and terrifying and how the hell did this happen he was supposed to get out. But now Dream was drawing back his foot for another stomp, higher than the others, and Tommy’s last thought was I’m not ready to die.
The boot came down on his neck with a sickening snap, and the pain stopped.
