ive been thinking about hard of hearing steve, who started losing his hearing after starcourt, the scoops troops are the first to find out because of how attached they are, robin erica and dustin all insist on steve learning to sign but he's insecure about learning a new language so they slowly learn and start teaching him
after vecna, eddie gets adopted to their little group and starts picking up on the signs and learning on his own, still struggles to hold a conversation, esp with the likes of robin or dustin, but he atleast knows simple words and phrases enough to communicate, eddie also gets into the habit of signing ILY to steve before he leaves, except steve rarely studies asl on his own most of what he remembers is from robin/erica/dustin, who never thought to teach him that specific sign, so steve just thinks eddie is just being a metalhead throwing up a 'rock on' gesture, hes still absolutely endeared by eddie doing this but he doesn't realize that eddie saying he loves him everyday, what follows is a ridiculous amount of pining where only steve doesn't know because everyone else know what that sign means, he only finds out because after gossiping with robin(who has tried to tell steve that its reciprocated) about eddie, erica interupts their convo by telling steve that eddie tells him he loves steve everyday (that clown is so obviously in love with you, how are you still pining? you're supposed to be a expert, steve?)
(edit 07/23: this fic is now on ao3)

they banned ap psych in florida cuz the class ap discusses sexuailty and gender which violates ron desantis' piece of shit dont say gay law so fuck you ron for that
in the college board statement they say it was banned because "teaching foundational content on sexual orientation and gender identity is illegal under state law" which is bullshit because these gov leaders believe anything lgbtq is a brain disease so you'd think theyd keep the brain learning class
they banned ap african american studies because "it lacks educational value and historical accuracy" which is making it easier for them to erase black history that is so intertwined with the history of this country that most everything here is so deeply antiblack
this mf has his head so far up his ass that hes ruining our education system even more than it already was

Don't ever feel shame for how you learn things.
We're all taught that there's different 'groups' of learning. Visual, auditory, ect. But actually, its a lot more than that, because learning also comes down to retention and processing.
Someone I know was embarrassed to tell me they learned how to fix their shower from TikTok, and after a lot of discussion admitted most of the things they know presently are things they learned off of TikTok, because casually given information with visual steps in a short amount of time is how they best process and retain information.
For me, I can still learn that way, but I've also learned most things in my life from huge chunks of descriptive text. I can look at pictorials and understand them and interpret the actions and steps between them. I can still remember instructions from my earlier school years because the way my brain remembers things best is plain text format.
If you find you're struggling to learn new things, to struggling to remember things you've learned, try re-learning them a different way. Podcasts, TikTok, download .pdf instructions, ect. Go back to it a few times. Learn it in small parts, until you can combine those small parts to remember the whole thing.
If you don't understand something by processing it one way, try it another way!
If you ever felt stupid or unintelligent in school because learning was hard for you, you weren't. I promise. Hours of staring at various textbooks and powerpoints five days a week has never been a one-size-fits-all for learning.
Find your way. And don't be embarrassed about it. The information stays the same regardless of if you learn it from a book or a 30 second video reel.

i wish i could post insightful things about fantasy high: junior year but i am too busy being thrust into intense flashbacks of my own high school years and dealing with the anxiety that produces
like kudos to dimension 20 for accurately portraying how junior year of high school in the usa fucks a person up while simultaneously building a truly fantastic and gripping plot
but also i am literally just. sitting here. and did not ask to be mentally and emotionally devastated in this particular way

Tbh... I don't think TOH should get a pass for it's shoddy plot just because some of the stuff that happens within the plot invokes an emotional response in people.
First of all, people react to concepts with varying degrees of emotional intensity based on what they like and/or their life experiences. Secondly, you can still create resonate moments with a good plot lmao.
There is no reason TOH should get a pass for making Belos a non threat for most of Season 1 just because people think x, y, z moment is wholesome or whatever.

Serious chaos one-shot snippet
“Hey, Dami?”
Boy hadn’t looked up from kittens he was bottle feeding but let out hum indicating he listened.
“I think about trying out more girlish style. Do you think it would suit me?”
Well, Damian had no idea but if Dani wished to give it a chance, then, well, the only appropriate course of action was to offer his aid.
Also features: Dani and Damian working at an animal shelter, Steph being fashionable, and Batman's rouge gallery and no, it's not a spelling mistake :)
