He's an asshole but he's MY asshole (III)
A/N: oh emm gee :0 the amount of people that like this series is so cool!!! hope everyone likes this part its the sad one :,). dialogue directly from the episode as usual. Reader is NOT one of the siblings, brother and sister is used in an in-laws kind of way.
Taglist at the bottom, feel free to ask to be tagged in upcoming parts!
Warnings: character deaths, Ben is an ass to the reader, manipulation? kinda?, animal cruelty (i think? Ben squeezes one of Fei’s ravens), religious talk, Grace being her season 3 weird self, reader thinks the kugelblitz is punk, gore, violence, angst
Word Count: 3.2k
Part 1  Part 2  Part 4  Part 5  Part 6  Part 7
“Oh my god, you are NEVER going to believe what just happened!” Sloane excitedly states, rushing into your room and slamming the door. “So lemme guess.” you say smirking “Luther came over and you…danced on the ceiling,” you say trying desperately not to burst into laughter. Her face goes white and a shocked look is slapped across her face, “H-how did you know?” she asks finally being quiet about her rendezvous. “Well I mean it’s not like you two were exceptionally quiet…and I was walking by your door,” you smirk. “So how was it and please spare details I don't need all that information,” and with that, it becomes impossible to shut up, telling you too many details and too much about Luther.
Sitting with Ben in Fei’s room while she feeds her birds was not your ideal night in but hey, it's better than having to fight the umbrellas. Your thoughts are interrupted by Fei speaking. “Were getting tons of missing person complaints in a three-block radius. I was thinking hysteria,” Fei says before going back to chopping meat. “What are they up to?” Ben questions. “Who?” Fei asks curiously before Ben replies, The Umbrella Academy. “Still can't believe they're umbrellas and not some living thing,” you say trying to lighten the mood but failing. “Use your heads number two and number seven,” Ben says while standing up. “First Marcus, now they’re grabbing civilians off the streets?” Ignoring his question you began to think when the last time Ben called you by your number, sure in arguments about him not being the leader anymore he would bring up your rank but he wouldn't call you number eight.
“Number two and number seven? I suppose that means you’re number one now?” Fei says confused by the shift in numbers. Ben justified that by stating that Marcus is missing, so he's taking the reigns. Fei chuckles at him. Oh fuck. This starts an argument in which Ben sarcastically asks if Fei thinks they should be the new leader. “You had your chance once. Didn't turn out too well, now, did it?” she throws in his face. Just then Ben grabs one of Fei’s precious birds, the birds that are directly linked to her, and squeezes it. “Say that again,” he says threateningly, with a sick smirk on his face.
Fei starts to call her ravens, just as Grace walks and asks to clean up, immediately Ben releases the raven and tells her to do it quickly. Almost immediately they start arguing again “You know I respect Marcus,” “of course” “I would do anything to protect him,” “Sure,” Fei hisses out knowing the power struggle that has been between them for years since Ben’s demotion. “We’ve been numbers two, three, and eight for far too long, Fei. With Marcus gone, it's moving day,” Ben reasons finally getting Fei to crack. Ben then prattles on about how it’ll be them, center stage taking things to a new level.
“So what’s in it for me?” you ask intrigued. “Love, you have been number eight since forever, I mean come on even in another place you were at the bottom of the totem pole. Don't you want a promotion?” Ben’s offer does sound nice, however, him saying you're at the bottom of the totem pole hits a nerve. “Bottom of the totem pole? What the fuck is wrong with you? Maybe I like being number eight,” you argue. “But I know you don't; you want the recognition; you want to be seen as more of a person and not a blood-thirsty killing machine, right?” Ben says condescendingly while squatting to be face to face with you; holding your hands. Ripping your hands away, you stand to leave, heading for your bedroom. Normally you would've stood up for yourself and ripped whoever insulted you a new asshole, however, this was Ben.
Lying on your bed staring at the ceiling, tears streaming down your face. Why the fuck did he say that? The heat of the moment? Stress? How he truly feels about you? Hoping it was anything but the latter. Sitting up you grab some tissues wipe your eyes and use all your effort to go to the door. Grabbing the handle and turning it you poke your head out of the door, making sure no one will see you. Just as you were walking out you see Ben walking down the hall, heading towards your bedroom; he looks distressed and upset, Fei probably gave him a verbal ass whopping on your behalf. You could always count on Fei to stand up for you on the once-in-a-blue-moon occasion that you couldn't. “Hey hon,” Ben says…sadly? What the fuck does he have to be sad for? He's the one that called you low tier, not the other way around! “Hi?” you say annoyance laced in your voice. “Can we go to our room? Please I just need to talk to you,” Ben all but pleads with you. Nodding, you two walk back to your room; as soon as you get into your room Ben falls apart, sobbing uncontrollably.
“B-b-babe I'm so fucking sorry. I didn't mean anything I said. I've just been thinking about what they keep saying, h-h-how we were dead and-and,” he says at the speed of light, crumpled on the floor, hands covering his face, sniffling and coughing. Even with you, he hated people seeing him cry, hated anyone seeing that his macho badass facade was just that, a facade. “Hey your gonna be okay, c’mon let's sit down,” you say in as gentle of a tone you could muster. You were still pissed and upset, yes he is hurting but that doesn't make him insulting you any better. “Listen, I know you’re hurting and I am too; I mean we were just told that we were dead and that we didn't even die together like a cooler Romeo and Juliet kind of way,” you joke trying to calm him down as he lays in your arms, head resting on your lap. “However if you ever say some shit like that again, I will rip you apart. Take that literally or figuratively I don't care,” you say threateningly.
“Yeah yeah I get it,” he chuckles then coughs. He leans up and moves his pillows so that he can lay down. “So I take it you’ve been thinking about umbrella Ben?” you say semi-jokingly. “Yeah I’ve been kind of thinking about that but there's something else I want to talk about,” he says suddenly getting serious. “Marcus wasn't taken by the umbrellas, he was taken by ‘God.’ That’s what Grace calls it,” he explains. “It’s in the basement, after you left we continued talking about the umbrellas taking him when Grace said that God is in the basement and that Marcus was ‘called home’ whatever that means,” he stated confused. “Personally I think Grace needs a check-up or that for some reason she's protecting the umbrellas,” You sat for a moment wide-eyed; so God is in the basement and Grace has gone robot insane? Okay, time to go to bed. I think I've seen and heard enough. As you were getting ready to lay down and take a nap, Ben starts to speak again. “We’re also going to meet with some of them to arrange a deal to get Marcus, you don't have to go if you don't want to,” Ben says before getting up and putting his jacket on.
Walking out to the garden you can spot only two of the six you had previously faced off. “Well at least if anything goes south we can take em’” you joke to Fei causing her to giggle. Meeting in the middle Ben starts the sarcasm “You’re one short,” he joked. “Where’s the rest of your pathetic family?” Fei questions quickly being shut down by Allison’s “Aww. Is that the best you can do?” Great and here I was thinking it could be an over-and-done thing; we meet and arrange a time and place and Marcus comes home. The arguing continues as you tune most of it only coming to when Allison calls Fei a flock of ‘She-gulls’ to giggle while Ben cackles, making Fei death glare both of you.
“Where the fuck is Marcus?” Ben questions the two menacingly. Viktor stutters before Allison finishes his sentence, saying that Marcus is safe. Bullshit, why did it take so long for him to respond? Maybe he’s just intimidated. “For now. But that’ll change real quick if you don't do exactly as we say,” Allison threatens. “See? I told you they have him,” Fei tells Ben making him sigh out of relief. “I warned Marcus, but no. He said we had to hear what you had to say,” Ben replies directing it more towards the umbrellas than Fei. “Look he wasn't wrong, okay? We want to make things right with you--” Viktor says before you cut him off. “By kidnapping our brother?” you boom becoming increasingly annoyed by the pair.
“No that’s--” “Yes,” Great now they can't even agree if they meant to kidnap him. Viktor goes on to explain that the world is in danger and they caused a paradox that is swallowing people. “Lots of cows, and a dog, few lobsters, but also people,” “Why the fuck didn't you start with people,” you interrupt, your annoyance becoming apparent. Ben and Fei exchange smirks at the comment. Allison then asks for the briefcase they left in exchange for Marcus. “Deal. The briefcase for our brother,” Ben says before you or Fei could tell them you don't have a briefcase. “Great, Hotel Obsidian, four o’clock sharp,” Allison says while putting her sunglasses on and walking away, Viktor in tow.
Making your way inside to start looking for the briefcase. After checking all of the upstairs the three of you go downstairs. “You don’t think its weird that they forgot something here? What if its a trap? What if it explodes?” Fei says the latter making you giggle. “Please. They aren’t that smart,” Ben says in front of you. “Who knows though maybe one of them rubbed their two collective braincells together and made a bomb,” you laugh. “Yeah, right like any of them would competently make a bomb; they struggle pouring water out of a boot with the instructions on the heel,” Fei continues before you three see it.
“Sweet Jesus.” Well I’ll be damned, not what i imagined God would look like but hey i can roll with it. Got a nice punk vibe. Grace explains that Jesus is one interpretation along with other deities. “Who knows who the waking god will choose next,” Grace says completely infatuated with what ever it is.”Grace, is this what took Marcus?” Fei asks, concern growing for their missing brother. “He went right and touched it. Brazen man,” Grace answers. “Grace, when did god get here?” you ask hoping to pry more information out of her. “Two days ago, with our new visitors,” she says with a dazed look in her robotic eyes. The three of you share a look of confusion at this newfound information.
While preparing to go meet the umbrellas you decide to relax by watching the news. The news anchor states that the number of missing people are steadily climbing and that there currently are no suspects. “Heh yeah cause our basement keeps doing that,” you say under your breath not noticing Jayme behind you. “What? Our basement is kidnapping people?” she says loudly. Quickly you try to think of something, “No our basement isn’t kidnapping people,” you try and miserably fail to convince her. “You’re lucky i don’t care,” she says before walking away. Fuck man you have GOT to be more careful where you say shit like that!
Arriving earlier than planned was always your strong suit; better to be early than late. “Oh my god we’re so early they’re gonna think we don’t know how to tell time,” Alphonso complains. “Better three hours too soon than a minute too late,” you say with a shit eating grin. “God stop quoting Shakespeare; its weird when Ben does it and it’s weird when you do it,” he cringes. “Will you all be quiet we need to make a cool entrance,” Sloane jokes.
Walking in you hear the room go quiet. The umbrellas meet you in the middle of the foyer of the hotel. Walking side by side with Jayme on your left and Sloane on your right; you come face to face with Sloane’s boyfriend (as you’ve taken to jokingly calling him) bandage covering the scratches you left him with previously. Cameras flash and suddenly you are snapped from the high intensity stare down. “Well, thanks for coming,” Viktor starts. “Oh, yeah, super glad to be here,” Jayme sarcastically responds, causing everyone to suddenly start going back and forth again.
“Where’s the briefcase?” Allison asks before Ben quickly responds “Wheres our brother?” “Maybe we should try this again before I lose my temper,” Allison continues, amazing you in the process; for years you have been the only one to successfully put Ben in his place and seeing someone else do it astounded you. Looking to your right you can hear Sloane whisper for Luther and presumably the others to run before Ben tells Allison that the deals off.
“Molotov this, bitches!” a…small child yells? Before dropping it and lighting a column on fire causing the fire alarm to go off, making all the hotel goers evacuate. Ben tells you all to get ready to fight and you prepare to kick some umbrella ass and drink some umbrella blood. Chris shoots out a piercing feedback that paralyzes the umbrellas to the floor, clutching their heads. Ben then commands to “Kill them” to which all of you start walking towards them, intent on completing this mission.
Jayme and Alphonso take the lead getting ready to kill Viktor. Out of no where an old man approaches doing the same thing that Viktor did back at the academy. The blast knocks you down to your knees, covering your head. After the blast was over you hear Fei scream Jayme’s name. Looking to your left you see the bodies of Alphonso and Jayme; badly burned and dead. Ben yells for you to pull back. Still on your knees with your arms around your head to look to your right to see Sloane unconscious presumably dead. Feeling sick you stand up just before one of the umbrellas, Diego, sees you. Too hyped up on adrenaline to think you run as fast as you can throughout the hotel not stopping until you found a vacant room.
Opening the door as quickly as possible and slamming it, you retreat to the bathroom. Sitting in the bathtub you finally settle down and try to gather your thoughts. Unable to, you crumble, breaking down into hysterical sobs, surely giving your hiding spot away. Two pieces of your family just died, in front of you. Their faces burned to a crisp. Grabbing some toilet paper you blow your nose. I didnt feel real and it doesnt feel real. Jayme and Alphonso were gone; you dreaded going home. Being around their things, in their rooms, smelling Alphonso’s ridiculously overpriced cologne that he always insisted on buying and Jayme’s floral shampoo that she claimed she hated but secretly loved.
Sliding down to where youre completely laying down in the bathtub, you put your hands over your face. Turning on your side, you press your ear up to the tub; hearing loud foot steps growing closer. Deciding that if he does find you, you should probably defend yourself; you get up and prepare to fight in a hotel room with someone who just killed your brother and sister. As soon as you stand up and prepare for a fight; the foot steps are no longer heard. Brushing it off as you hearing things; you look through the peep hole; checking if the coast is clear and leave the room.
Wandering around the hallways and staircases, you find yourself in a bathroom once again. Fuck it i can cry in a shower. Going into one of the showers and closing the doors, you slink to the floor, undoubtedly being seen based on the door not being full length. Hearing footsteps you get up ready to fight only to see Sloane looking petrified at you. Hearing more foot steps, you accept your fate and leave the shower stall, only wanting to comfort your sister; given that the others had abandoned you and her here. Luther runs in, looking for Sloane but instead see you. He gives you a look of pity maybe as a way to say “Its going to be okay don’t worry,” or maybe as a “I’m so sorry for how hard im gonna kick your ass.” Glaring you see Sloane behind him, lifting him up and choking him. “Did you set me- us up?” she asks the hurt and grief noticeable in her voice.
“I would. Drop him,” Diego says while putting a knife to your sisters neck. “And you, you pointy teeth freak stay right there,” he says towards you while pointing the knife that was on Sloane’s neck towards you. “Get them and let’s go,” he says to Luther causing him to look over at you. Luther tries to tell Diego that everything is good and that he cant let Sloane go but Diego reminds him that she and you are the enemy. “She’s hurt,” he reminds Diego. Luther then threatens to bury Diego if he hurts her. “You gonna bury me too, Luther?” Allison asks mockingly. “Just let me talk to her,” Luther says almost begging. “Oh trust me shes gonna talk, both of them,” she says turning and staring at you.
Here you were about to be interrogated by 3 out of the 6 umbrellas, in a bathroom/spa, while up against a wall. Watching Diego flip his haphazardly made wooden stake before pointing it at you, Allison says, “I heard a rumor you’re gonna tell me the truth,” towards Sloane. Looking towards her you see her eyes turn milky white while she starts to shake. Allison asks where the briefcase is as everyone focuses in on Sloane. Grabbing her hand you hold it before Allison turns her attention to you, saying the same thing. Holding your breath as your thoughts are taken over by what she said, you too start to shake not wanting to give up anything to them. Sloane breaks before you screaming that she doesn't know. Allison and Diego then turn towards you, watching your nose bleed and eyes return to their normal color.
After a couple moments you break, “I put it in the basement after the fight but it wasn't in there!” you scream wanting the thoughts to stop. Allison visibly upset walks away, Diego asks what side Luther is on with him protecting Sloane. Luther tells Diego to get out before Allison yells that everyone should leave and that you and Sloane shouldn't leave his sight. Leaving the spa you can only wonder what Ben, Fei and Chris are feeling, probably not knowing that you and Sloane are alive.

I'm not feeling well and ranting about Tua S2 is my default so I thought I'd put some thought into what I'd change about the storylines for my own (personal) entertainment
Disclaimer I am not a writer, I just have opinions and this got way longer than I anticipated (especially the Viktor bit) so it's all under read more
Luther - I actually don't mind Luther's storyline too much, or what little he had going on anyway - it does make sense that he'd seek out another figure to fill the hole that his distrust in Reginald created, it makes sense that he is once again being used by that figure for their own gain, and it makes sense that he finally sticks it to Reginald in 2x06 - I just wish there was more of that and less of whatever the fuck they were doing with him and Allison (can they not just be friends please god) - I feel like expanding on his parental figure issues also just fits great with S3 and his confrontation with Reggie - and trying to trust someone who has betrayed him only to be stabbed (quite literally) in the back for trusting again
Diego - I'm just gonna be honest and say Diego should have spent longer in the 60s than a couple of months, maybe switching the dates Diego and Luther arrived, I don't know - a little more insight into how Lila got close to Diego in the asylum, and more time expanding on how therapy and his time in the 60s changed him, and expanding on the racism he endured in S2 not just with the asylum guards - it's something he and Allison talk about in S3 amd it's no doubt something they both grew up dealing with
Allison - again, very little Id change other than keeping it going for longer, it seems like after 2x06 racism stops existing in S2 (other than one mention) and so do all the characters Allison's interacted with at this point beyond Ray, obviously there's only so much you can fit into 10 45 minute episodes and the last three barely have any outside interactions beyond the commission but I still think even just one shot of Odessa, Ray and the others hearing about Allison being linked to JKFs death was warranted
Klaus - oh Klaus, I could go on for days about you - I am a firm Klaus joining an anti war movement truther, hell I even like the ghost cult theory that people had going on, I just feel like nobody really knew what to do with Klaus in S2 - and he was very much disjointed from the rest of the characters in the way that was obvious - yes he was in s1 and S3 (S3 again slightly more obvious with it than S1) but he was also connected to the main plot, S2 he was doing his own thing pretty much 99% of the season and it only served as more disconnect - I'm not saying he needed to be a main character, he wasn't in s1 and he still had things going on, I'm saying that it's at least expected that if everyone else is related to the plot by coincidence and what else, and Klaus is just there, why is Klaus there? What is he providing? S1, he had a hand in the apocalypse as much as everyone else, and it's sadly missing here.
Five - This is related to Diego too, but it fits more with the Five stuff. Drop the Handler stuff, just completely drop it. She didn't need to come back, have AJ take her place. And if you're gonna bring in the Commission then set them up firmly against Five (and by extension the other Hargreeves) for fucking with time - set it up that Five is dangerous and AJ knows it, that he's building an army (2x10) to try take Five down - his own adopted daughter (Lila) included, no deals, no bargains, AJ wants to destroy Five for even daring to try stop the apocalypse, and he's more ruthless than the Handler to get his way - and let Five get the satisfaction of killing him
Ben - I would say drop the possession stuff but that is plot relevant so maybe change it around to be on a more consensual sort of weird thing Klaus and Ben do - it could still be funny, with the siblings talking to Ben and Ben trying to act as Klaus (for whatever reason) and because Klaus is pretty much a strange character to his siblings already they don't question how wildly out of character he's acting ie "Because that is a thing, I, Klaus Hargreeves, do." "Uh? Sure buddy." / "I think I'm really nailing acting like you." Meanwhile the siblings side eyeing Ben acting as Klaus but they just don't know what the fuck is going on - and just for extra funsies (aka pain) have it established to Ben that he knows possessing Klaus (and by extension anyone else) is slowly destroying him but he wants to be a part of the family again, and he wants to experience life again so badly that he keeps going, and going, until he ends up passing on helping Viktor - and let that be part of the message with Klaus
Viktor - ohohoho where do I even begin? I think the only thing I will be leaving untouched is Sissy and Harlan, the rest? Gone. Personally I am not a fan of amnesia storylines, but Viktor needs to almost end the world somehow, right, and come to terms with his childhood trauma and the end of S1 somehow and doing it off screen hardly seems fair
I'm so glad you asked :) so Viktor, following have a gun go off by his ear and getting hit by a car goes deaf in one ear and it's affecting his powers obviously cause they're related to hearing at least somewhat - he's losing control, or can't make them work when he wants and he feels like the progress he made is thrown back as well as feeling conflicted and guilty for using them after what happened, after almost killing Allison - but still angry at his siblings for what they did and a lot of conflicting emotions also fuelling his powers being out of control
He's desperately trying to hide his powers (not the LGBTQ+ Merlin metaphor) from Sissy, Harlan and Carl and maintain the life he's created in the 60s but it's growing increasingly more difficult and only adding to his stress
So when he sees Luther again, he's obviously feeling a lot - happy to see someone he knows, anger, pained, guilty, confused - maybe even feeling like an outcast again, assuming that they all knew where each other was this entire time and left him out again - and leaves before Luther can talk to him, the conflicting emotions and his powers make something happen in Sissy's house (idk maybe something breaks enough to scare Viktor into leaving before he thinks he'll hurt someone else) and bumping into the Swedes and meeting Five again, and this time they properly talk it out - Viktor seeing the hurt he caused Five during his years in the apocalypse, even if the events that led to the apocalypse weren't only his fault, he admits fault for his part in it, and Five, aptly says something like, "You were a cog in a machine, Viktor. If not you, it would've been someone else, the Commission made sure of that." And it's clear they've at least talked it out somewhat to be able to trust each other
The second Luther and Viktor reunion is still hard - Luther apologises like in canon, and Viktor is wary of his sincerity, pointing out the last time he trusted Luther he was locked in the basement - Luther admits that he has no reason to be trusted, but he'll prove it to Viktor if he can - and it's cautious predicament with the two of them from here on out, eventually Viktor and Luther both realising the positions they were manipulated into by Harold and Reginald (and Pogo) and their own actions respectively
The other reunions and slightly less tense - Diego and Viktor's being the most tense of the remaining three - but again, they both apologise - Diego's therapy and Viktor's own realisations with the apocalypse playing a part, and it's slightly cold but still forgiveness, Allison is still trying to deal with her own problems in the 60s along with pushing down any of the negative feelings she has about what happened in S1 so it plays very much the same s1 to S3 wise but maybe Viktor is more wary of Allison's forgiveness, and Klaus is the one with the least stake in that plotline
So, okay, he's made up with the majority of the siblings, his emotions are under control, and his powers are more or less under control, how does he cause the end of the world? I'm still so glad you asked besties BC here's the plot twist he doesn't - in which I'll explain, so how does Ben still help Viktor and end up dying but it's nothing to do with the end of the world, and what about the apocalypse at the beginning of s2 - it's all been set up to look like Viktor will cause the apocalypse again in Five (and the audiences) eyes
So why does Ben help Viktor and end up passing on? Instead of running away with Sissy, Viktor tries to decide to stay in the 60s instead - it's not ideal but if he can't bring Sissy with him, then he'll stay, it's the obvious solution only Carl isn't happy with that - and the gun fight ensues - the gun going off throwing Viktor back to the theatre and into a flashback - one no one can reach him in - except Ben
And they still have their talk, and Viktor manages to find his own peace with what happened
So how does the world end? Well, the Commission being dickheads and AJ manipulating Lila for a reason bb with something like this going down between AJ and Five
"Today, tomorrow, next week, almost sixty years from now, it doesn't matter. It's all the same to me."
"Time matters, you can't erase all that time. It'll cause a paradox that could destroy the universe!" (Hello S3 hint) "Surely the rest of the Commission don't see it that way."
"The world was always doomed to end, and your pathetic attempt to save it only doomed it and your siblings faster. I'd almost congratulate you, Five, you managed to fail so incredibly that you made my own job easier."
They figure out the Commission are targeting the Federal building to make it look like an attack and start a nuclear war with Hazel's tape, and stop it from being blown up in time, but bad news - Harlan still has powers and AJ's army is ready and 2x10 plays out basically the same
And where is Reggie in all this? Keeping an eye on what's happening in the background - having his own people investigate the siblings and keeping note of their powers which will come bite them in S3 - he's not explicitly a part but he's definitely doing something in the background
And then, Sparrows.

S4 predictions (part 1)
Currently in a rewatch (just of season 3) and wanted to talk about this show and the direction it’s going in towards season three. A small 3 part series about what I think, SHOULD happen, WILL happen, and BS that will fly out of left field aka more random one off theories and loose ends
What I think SHOULD happen/ what makes the most sense
- #1 - five dies. Ima come right out and say it in in the group that thinks five is gonna die. So let’s talk about it. Five is so substantially younger than all the siblings I don’t see a future/ending where he’s alive and well with all of them. It seems impossible for an ending to be reached where five stays alive because how would that work in terms of post show. He isn’t technically even a real person given he was missing and hasn’t aged a day. In a new universe he’s just some random kid with a group of adults.
Not only do I find it impossible post show but during the ending. How would five ever fit into their lives again or even into their world. He says it himself. He isn’t looking for happiness he’s looking to keep his family safe not even himself. So I foresee a self sacrifice in his future. Maybe he doesn’t die but he’s not gonna be in their timeline or whatever. Longer post will be made about this I have a lot to say
- #2 - the siblings don’t stay together. In some sort of end all that looks and is able to achieve returning to the OG timeline and such for them all to be happy they wouldn’t be happy together. Viktor was happy with sissy, Luther with salone, Allison idk new universe maybe, Diego anywhere with Lila, klaus probably with Dave or the og universe, and five wants them all to be safe. But end of the day in order for a like achievable happy ending I feel like they won’t be staying together in the end.
- #3 - they get their powers back (also in my what I think will happen list). This show is gonna be weird without them having their powers. I’ve made a post in the past explaining why I think they still have their powers or at least able to get them back but either way without their powers show is gonna be weird. It just doesn’t feel right and I think it will be a bit boring and it will be impossible to achieve and ending to this without them having their powers back. They’re in reggies world it’s not gonna be an easy fight.
- #4 - no more apocalypse. Like yes this is their whole thing but no more apocalypse. The next season is only 6 episodes there’s not enough time for an apocalypse plot.
That’s all for now there will be more

Rewatching TUA - 1x04 Man On The Moon
Watching the scene where Klaus talks to all of Cha Cha and Hazel's ghost victims makes me realize how the showrunners have wasted Klaus' potential as a powerful member of the Academy (which he is in the comics), especially after S1.
Tumblr media
I'm not saying that he had a bad character arc or anything like that, in fact I think he's the character that has had the best development, especially in Season 3... Just that in terms of power, all the characters (except maybe Five and Viktor) have their powers really downgraded in the show. There's no reason they haven't included or explored more of the powers in THREE Seasons, like Luther's or Diego's or Klaus's, even Allison's reality warping...
In the first few minutes of 2x01 it seemed like they intended to do that, and then i don’t know what happened in S3?
Tumblr media
We don't see any ghosts in S3 other than the ones in the graveyard scene and it was terrible CGI... and let's not talk about the missed opportunity they had by not using Alphonso and Jayme as ghosts after they literally died inside the Hotel.
Talking about Jayme and Alphonso... i have a fanfic about them as ghosts following Klaus in S3 and in the Void (like the comics) ... i don't know if i should post it, i have never written a fanfic before so...
Tumblr media
Anyways, I'll always be disappointed in the missed opportunity for Klaus' telekinesis or levitation...if it's not added somehow in S4 (which it probably won't because of the six episodes and the whole No-Powers twist at the end of S3.
PS: When Klaus says that the drugs are his asthma medication, and then I remembered that Alphonso has asthma and is Number Four in the Sparrow Academy in S3...

I wonder if those idiots would say that to my Rromani mother who listens to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Motorhead.
A Rroma who was legally forced out of her own home by French authorities (in a literal go back to your country) in 2010 and had a brother go missing because he protested and had grandparents who died in the resistance at Birkenau. The only reason she wasn't "repatriated" to Romania (which she was never from her family had always lived in France) was due to her marriage to my American GI father. Oh yeah I was also stolen from her at three months because "gypsies make terrible mothers". Go on tell her that she deserves to die for being a "fascist" for trying to reclaim some of this imagery. I think our mothers are both better representations of punk than op.
Sorry you had to deal with that pal (pal meaning brother in Rromanes and not friend like English). *hugs*
Thank you for teaching me a bit of Romanian (is that the correct way to say it, I see some of your words have two r’s in them) culture!
I feel like personally some of “online” culture is too much “denouncing” things that are bad to make sure that you curate the perfect image online (for example: there are probably opinions and stuff I have that I will NEVER be sharing on here because I already get eaten alive on this blog for what I do share). That it’s more important to dissolve family ties and maintain a perfect image of “Punk Purity” if you will than to actually have the hard conversations about things that are not always black and white (like family ties to people who support you even while being “problematic” vs other trans punks on tumblr.com who will tell you to kill them because oopsies sometimes people uh idk aren’t perfect? SHOCKING). There’s so much EFFORT that goes into maintaining a “punk facade of perfection”. Like man it’s almost like purism but in a different way. Like instead of “we can’t have kink at pride” it’s like “can’t listen to true crime because it’s all exploitative and all of it paints cops in a good light and it’s all cop propaganda” like idk posts about that kind of stuff I see. Like make all the patches you want and post all the trans art you want but are you actually like. Nice to people. Idk.
The people who change the world and make history are not these sanitized perfect people. Having “all the right opinions” doesn’t make you punk. Being nice to people does. I’m waiting for someone to be like “actual Martin Luther King Jr. was problematic and we shouldn’t support him anymore because-” or some stupid shit like that. Like ya’ll I’m not perfect and people need to stop threatening me, sending me hate, etc. or whatever because oh my god [insert whatever drama I got dragged into this time] was problematic.
I love you, and your family, they sound like amazing tough people, I’m glad the ones that survived did to make you and I’m joining you in this little tiny moment of answering your ask to mourn the ones that didn’t. On the topic of true crime as someone who DOES listen to it (the last episode I listened to was literally just then shitting on the Bridgeport Connecticut police department and how awful they are at their jobs and talking about how systematically racist they are) I’m going to put effort into looking into some Romanian (I hope I’m saying that right) cases and maybe putting them out on my own true crime blog to bring attention to the plight that Romanian people have faced historically and still face.

THERES MORE!?!?!? AND I WASNT TOLD!? OH GOD MORE THEORY TIME!
Tumblr media
FIRST OF ALL ARE WE ACTUALLY GETTING THE VIKTOR AND LUTHER BROTHERLY RELATIONSHIP IVE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT CAUSE I WANT SHORT BROTHER AND BUFF BROTHER RELATIONSHIP, VIK IS LITERALLY SO SMALL COMPARED TO HIM,
OK THEORY TIME ANYWAY I THINK THE CAR THEIR IN MIGHT BE SOMETHING THEY USE THROUGHOUT THE SERIES AS FIVE WAS IN IT IN ANOTHER TEASE IMAGE ALSO I GUESS THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME TO SAY THAT I THINK ALL THESE IMAGES ARE FRIM THE FIRST TWO TO THREE EPISODES
BUT LIKE I WONDER WHO VIK AND LUTHER ARE GONNA FIGHT CAUSE THATS A COOL FIGHTING DUO OR MAYBE ANOTHER OPTION THEIR TIMELINE VERSION OF THEMSEKVES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m doing these three together because they seem to be in the same place considering the glowing blue support beams in the background in all of them.it might now be the same scene but like similar, I think it might be hotel oblivion or some form of it cause it does look like a hotel
Gonna be honest in the nicest way possible I have 0 clue who this kid is, he’s probably in the comic and I’ve forgotten him or something and if he’s not my other idea was that he’s one of the 47 kids and has some ability tied to his looks maybe shapeshiftnig or something like that, maybe he just dosent age or ages slowly but I’m excited to see what he does! If it is the hotel he might be a guest or a receptionist or like a bell boy or something.
Not much to say in the Klaus Alison and Diego one, honestly I kind of hole these three aren’t alone I kinda wanna see the siblings all together more rather than the usual two or more teams doing separate things but I get the feeling we’ll be getting alot of that this
Also I just think this is a scene where Reginald talks to the sparrow or like a sparrow training scene or something I wish I had more to say about it but I really don’t
Tumblr media
Viktor is literally my favourite human ever hes just amazing also my first thought is that this is probably either like Viktor just after cutting his hair and coming out to Alison talking about Raymond and her daughter
I want more of these two actually no I demand more of these two they’re amazing and I love them
Tumblr media
Is he going out to touch Christopher? Cause that’s the vibes I’m getting BUT ALSO WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE WHERE VIKTOS CHAMBER IS
Tumblr media
I don’t have much theory other than their in hotel oblivion or a very fancy normal hotel but I just really like this photo and I want more them and more sibling relationships

sorting the gang: mac
Previously: Dennis
We started with a non-obvious sorting so now let's move on to one of the easier ones.
PRIMARY: Snake (extremely dysfunctional), Bird model (extremely dysfunctional) (or the other way around?)
OK maybe it isn't THAT easy. Honestly you could go either way on this. I think part of it is that Mac's character gets written really differently depending on the episode/season (and a lot of fans LOVE complaining about this, "omg they ruined Mac's character" etc., despite both sides of his character being there early on)
Mac obviously is pretty attached to his worldview, usually his religion. He builds his entire identity around it and spends a lot of energy trying to work out the contradictions, the biggest example being being gay vs. being Catholic. He is very proud of how he can view the whole world through whatever lens he has glommed onto at any given point.
youtube
science is a LIAR sometimes
Idk I had an entire paragraph here about how everything he says in that video is wrong and how malleable these identities actually are for him in practice until I thought maybe that was still what Birds do especially less mature ones so idk. (Full disclosure I don't really "get" Bird primaries so I might not just be good at recognizing them?)
But I think a picture speaks a thousand words, especially when it is a picture that contains a thousand words:
Tumblr media
"just like everyone else in the group" lol ok mac
Mac is a Snake whose people don't give a shit about him. His people are his dad, his mom, Dennis, and to a lesser degree Charlie. "The Gang" isn't really a thing for him as a unit, those are the only people he cares about. And he really cares. ("We're like the best friends in the whole goddamn world and goddamn them for making me think otherwise!")
It isn't a good kind of caring. On his end, they are deeply codependent up to the point where he smuggles drugs for his dad because he's his dad, calls the cops on Dennis when he is out of the apartment for an hour, poisons Dennis to try to make him dependent on him... (Can you be Exploded about more than one person?) And obviously on their end all these people either openly hate Mac to an abusive extent or only give a shit insofar as they can use him. And Mac is deeply in denial that this is possible for his people.
youtube
like, even just the idea that OBVIOUSLY Luther wants to see this picture of his mom because OBVIOUSLY she's really important to Luther just like Mac is OBVIOUSLY important to him because OBVIOUSLY he would also care as much, that's how relationships OBVIOUSLY work...
And most importantly, the idea that other people in the world have things to offer does not register. It's not on YouTube but there's a legit tragic scene in the last season where Mac meets his uncle Donald. Donald is a family scapegoat for all the same reasons Mac is, and he is lonely and eager to connect. He is the perfect father figure for Mac, who desperately wants a father figure... and Mac doesn't give a shit about him. He sits through all of this with total disinterest. Charlie sits there the entire scene getting increasingly frustrated: "You have everything you've ever dreamed of right here, but we're gonna just blow right past it, aren't we?"
SECONDARY: Lion (Snake model except he is bad at it?)
This is the easy part, I mean like do I even have to explain it? Mac reacts to things. He reacts to things like a bomb does. Or like whatever the most badass and/or powerful action is at the time. ("Mac sees himself as the boss in most situations and the gang constantly complains about his bossiness.")
youtube
it like personally offends him that the mafia does things other than be badass at people
There are three common Mac plots. One is that Mac and someone else (usually Charlie) escalate each other into chaos. Two, someone (almost anyone) manipulates him with zero effort. Three, someone (usually Dennis) attempts to do a scheme with him that he derails loudly. Basically Mac is earnest, in a way that only Charlie really matches. I think that's probably part of why they're the two members of the Gang most likely to be interpreted as kinda-maybe-salvageable deep down even when they objectively do just as bad things as everyone else.
This is Sunny so Mac has a baseline ambient level of lying and scheming, i.e. lowkey Snake modeling. Notably he got a double dose of that model from hanging out with the Gang and beforehand from growing up with career criminals as parents. But he's the worst person in the Gang at scheming and it isn't remotely close. Which is not to say that he doesn't try to manipulate people, he just....... fundamentally doesn't get the concept:
youtube
"Oh shit... right, don't give away the information." feel like I'm using all my memes on these
Obligatory disclaimer that again this is the most exaggerated and cartoonish and just incredibly dumb version of Lioning so just like if you're a Bird secondary don't be offended about sharing it with a serial predator, don't be offended about sharing Lion with this incredibly dumb individual

Ok so, the new trailers got me curious, especially here with the whole... trap thing.
Tumblr media
Let's just go on a little chill journey about it together, no strings attached.
So... something I do casually to pass the time while deep in sunny fixation is keyword searching in episode transcripts, to see if there's fun connections I can do. So naturally, I look up "trap", to see where else it comes up outside of Gets Romantic and Flowers for Charlie (the first two episodes that come to my mind when talking about traps).
What I found was an interesting connection between three specific episodes:
Mac is a serial killer
Dennis looks like a registered sex offender
Flowers for Charlie
And I wanna go through it. Kind of in random order because I don't know how to structure this (lmao).
Now, these episodes obviously have come out in seasons throughout the years, with the earliest two on s3, and I'm gonna be talking about things I think might happen in relation to these episodes. Parallels, metatext, about things that haven't aired yet. So I may be wrong. Let's get that out of the way. Usual disclaimer, get out now if you don't like rambling, and I'm not responsible for building anyone's expectations, that is on you. This is how I have my own fun. Let's move on.
But talking about these episodes in such a way requires me to acknowledge macdennis as something that's been not only intended, but planted, am I gonna be arguing that this was all intentional the whole time? ...No. ...Yes? Maybe. This pains me to say more than it pains you to read, believe me.
Now by planted I don't mean they ever really planned to have it happen necessarily. I'm talking about the trap aspect of it all. The will they, won't they. The question, the mystery of what's inside the crate. You get me.
I wanna start from the fact that there's fifteen severed heads in the fridge. Severing heads being a metaphor very prevalent in season 15 as we've seen, but especially...
And that's the scene.
Yes, I'm aware.
I'm done. I was in character before, but I'm me now, so you can tell me how good I was.
Oh, okay. Well, you just cut in front of 15 other actresses.
You're welcome. I took a gander at 'em and... ( sever head gesture )
Plus, I do feel like that's what the character would have done, and I've been in character all day. As a matter of fact, don't want to brag, but I've been in character all week.
Fifteen, like the seasons? It could be they were hoping to reach that number to break the record, just like Charlie is shown doing at the start of DLLARSO, attempting to break a record to see how long he can hold his breath for.
Dee: What is going on in here?
Mac: Just laying low and breaking world records. Don't even think about breathing, b¡tch.
Dennis: All right, so here's the deal. Got rid of that child molester. The sеxual predator guy? Yeah, he's gone. He's out of the situation, so my problems are solved. You had a thing too, right?
Dee: Mac's dad. I want your dad out of the bar.
So three things, breaking records, the second Dennis leaving (you know, Dennis Double Life thing), and I do think Luther might be dying this season, as well. It seems to line up to me... we know Mac is going to "collect his inheritance", which he wouldn't really have unless a parent died like Charlie's. He also walked out, so.
But that's impossible, that's season 3. I thought so too.
So I want to bring another example of severed head onto the table... Chardee Macdennis 2. Season 11.
Tumblr media
They're asked to sculpt "clues" for the game, and what does each of them sculpt?
Mac: "Cupid's arrow". Which Charlie keeps calling a penis, and which looks strikingly similar to a RPG missile to me, I'll add.
Frank: A heart. Like the heart shaped lock?
Dennis: A woman's head in a freezer, which he says, and I quote, represents "the preservation of love forever and ever".
Keep in mind, there was no theme given for the sculptures, the whole goal was for the teammates to guess what the other was sculpting. Now why are they... love themed?
I just want to say right out of the gate, I don't know what everything means, I'm more so here to draw parallels that I've noticed. I think it's interesting that everyone can draw their own conclusions too.
So, to summarize all three episodes:
In Mac is a Serial Killer, the gang see Mac acting weird, so they start suspecting he's a serial killer.
(I do want to point out Carmen scratches Mac (during sex), which is one parallel with Dennis, but not my overall point.)
Frank and Charlie scour for clues in Mac's apartment, while Dennis tries to use Dee as bait to catch the serial killer. Frank gets a confession out of Mac's mom, and then the gang starts to hatch a scheme (which they call a trap) to "catch" Mac about this, and drive a confession out of him. The truth though, is that Mac is dating Carmen, and doesn't want the gang to find out.
In Sex Offender, Luther is finally out of jail and is visiting a bunch of people. Mac and Charlie see that Luther has a list with their name on it, and panic thinking he's been killing these people and is gonna kill them next. What is really happening though, is that he was actually making amends with the people listed (something that comes back in S16!), and had a surprise prepared for Mac, who "ratted him out". The B plot has Frank moving out because he thinks he can do better than Charlie, so he gets with Bonnie, his "bang maid". Both Charlie and Mac hatch a plan (again called a trap here), a romantic dinner, with very different goals. Charlie wants Frank back and to expose his mom as a cheater (in a situation that actually reminds of the s15 dinner, with the turd in the soup), Mac wants to pair his parents back together so they can raise "happy boys". In the end, Luther gets with Bonnie, which coincidentally does drive Frank back into Charlie's arms, but in the end Luther gets carried away by police. Additionally as we've discussed, there's a second Dennis in this episode, a fake, who is threatened into leaving at the end of the episode.
In Flowers for Charlie, scientists are running an experiment on Charlie who becomes their lab rat, while Dee Mac and Dennis are dealing with a rat problem in the bar, discussing ways to catch and kill it. Charlie starts thinking he's too good for his friends and notices that "they've been using him", Frank enlists the help of the Waitress by setting up a dinner between them, hoping Charlie's deep infatuation with her will pull him away from his new life and the corner he's turned and back to Frank, and when that doesn't work, Frank tells Dee Dennis and Mac that he wants to "drag him back down into the sewer where he belongs". Dee thinks she's stuck to the rat glue trap, but after the rat eats the cheese and scurries away unaffected, thanks to Frank's help she finds that by letting go of the trap, she becomes unstuck. In the end we find the experiment didn't make Charlie smarter, only more arrogant, and perhaps more fascinatingly some other things, like he believes to be a mathematical genius, and writes:
X = 9 + 9 = Box... that's where the cat is.
(9 + 9, like 18? Like the seasons we have confirmed, 18?)
And more.
And in the space of an hour, the subject has lost all interest in a woman with whom he had been in love for years, because of a perceived upidity relative to himself. Perhaps the most interesting were the series of side effects that he believed himself to be having. Uh, debilitating aches and pains. It was all in his mind.
According to this, the more arrogant someone is, the more he forgets about the people he loves, and the more he suffers various pains. Therefore, you need to knock someone down a peg to remind them of their feelings, and make them feel better.
In Mac is a Serial Killer, at the end, Mac is also accused of being two people.
Charlie: I'm sorry, Mac. You can't keep running from this thing. You gotta face this head on! (whispers) I'm gonna get you off this. Don't be afraid to show me your ugly side. All right. Put that away, Frank. You don't need a chain saw. You're talking to an innocent man. All right, Mac. I'm gonna ask you now 'cause I'm tired and hungry. I want to go home. I want to wash my hands of this whole stinking mess. Did you or did you not snap into an alternate and distinct personality... causing you to go on a serial killing rampage?
Mac: What? No.
Charlie: What? Yes, you did. You... All right, Mac. You're crazy, right? You're a crazy person. Sometimes you're two people. Let's see the other guy. Let him out.
Mac: Let who out?
Charlie: The serial killer, Mac! Let the serial killer out!
Mac: I'm not a serial killer!
Frank: Then why all the shady behavior?
So, what is the trap... so far, we've seen that you trap someone either to set them up with someone else (the romantic dinner in DLLARSO, but also the trap in Gets Romantic, and also when Dee sets them up in Break Up by using a lady with giant breasts as bait!), or to draw a confession out of them (like in MIASK, but also Catches a Leprechaun). Perhaps both, at the same time, as there may be multiple people scheming the same thing with different end goals, or different things with the same end goal. Either way, that's the conflict of the trap.
Brief intermission to talk about another episode where the trap comes up. Charlie's Home Alone.
Charlie empathizes with a rat, and saves him from a trap.
'Cause I know what it's like to be caught in a trap now, and it's not okay. I won't let you get caught in a trap, okay?
Takes him in his hand, and eats him (DLLARSO also has talk about Luther looking like he eats people, but I don't have a thought on that yet aside from basic cat eat mouse type stuff, also not everything is Something, but I digress!).
Later a real trap is introduced as part of the rituals, and Charlie steps on it and must free himself. The release lever is at the bottom. He frees himself, but once Brady has the ball, he has to step right into the trap again.
This stepping in and out, again it reminds me of Dennis in Gets Romantic, but since it was a season 13 episode, it may also be Glenn about the show.
But here's something I think, just to spice it up, I think the trap may also be, more in general, a relationship. Right? Dennis has been in one (with Maureen), didn't like it, yada yada. Now Mac talking about banging, that's one thing. Mac getting in a relationship? Suddenly he's ruining everything, getting locked in, that's different. And the scene between him and Dennis in Flowers for Charlie, implies to me that we have two rats and one bait, that the trap involves two people. Like a relationship. Now am I married to this idea, pun not intended? Not really, but it's possible.
Either way, the trap is something that catches rats. Thanks to Flowers for Charlie, both Mac and Dennis can be rats, due to said dancing scene...
Dennis: He scurried away.
Mac: All right, well, when he comes back, I'm gonna smash him up good. Dennis: No, no, Mac, come on. We're smarter than that. That's just gonna spread rat blood and disease all over the place. It's not about brute force. It's about seduction. See, I'm gonna place some enticing tunes for the little guy. And then I'm gonna bait this glue trap with some Brie cheese.
Frank: Because drawing a confession out of someone... is like doing a beautiful dance... a beautiful dance with a chain saw.
When Charlie is framed as the rat in Flowers for Charlie at the beginning, he's dead set on getting the cheese he can't have, and has no interest in the one under the green light. Which reflects the chase. Like cat and mouse.
This experiment, that's being talked about as groundbreaking and that will revolutionize the field, is all about making the subject feel smart due to the constant encouragement, but the subject really isn't.
Mac is not the serial killer. He's not smart enough. He's a dumb person. And dumb people are not capable of serial killing.
In Chokes, it's said that Dennis will see through the ruse, because he's smart, but the truth is that he didn't, because he isn't. It's Mac that heightens his confidence, and it always has been.
And in the sideplot of Flowers for Charlie, Dee Dennis and Mac end up watching "cat and mouse" cartoons to understand how to solve this rat problem. But... a cat was never introduced in the episode prior to this?
The mouse always wins. There's... there's, like, no winning with mices. Cat keeps getting hurt. He gets hurt. Well, it's dangerous, yeah. What the hell are you guys doing? We're trying to watch cat and mouse cartoons to find out how kitty cats deal with their rat issues.
But historically, the cat has always been Dennis... the cat in the wall (through framing and dialogue), and then ongoing with like the painting in s15 and the dead cat in the room and so on. This cat may get out of the wall, or he may die in there. That duality belongs to Dennis. But how can he both be a cat and a mouse? No, I don't have an answer, but perhaps it's up to confidence. If you bring it down low enough for both Dennis and Mac, they're finally both little mouses, and you can catch them in your trap. Not that the trap ever works? In all episodes where it comes up, it either fails (Flowers for Charlie), is painful (Charlie's Home Alone), complicates things (Gets Romantic), or a combination of those (Serial Killer and Catches a Leprechaun).
It's also about method.
How do we lower this guy's confidence, how do we reach rock bottom.
In Flowers for Charlie, Mac's solution is to bash the rat.
In Mac is a Serial Killer, they want to draw a confession out of Mac by torture when they catch him. Using a chainsaw even.
And in Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender, Dennis takes a good beating because he's mistaken for an awful man that looks like him, as per Dee's plan.
And this in Mac is a Serial Killer:
Dennis: This is the fun part, Dee. This is the part that we've been working up to. This is what all the work has been for. We're gonna follow our victim. And then we're gonna jump her. And then I'm gonna strangle her and you're gonna chop her into pieces.
Dee: Okay, but what are we really gonna do?
Dennis: Huh?
Dee: We're not really gonna kill her. What are we gonna do?
Dennis: Oh, yeah. Oh, shit. That's a bummer. Yeah, you're right.
Dee: Let's just follow her for a little. We'll throw a good scare into her. Figure out what to do later.
Plus, in Charlie Catches a Leprechaun, which is another episode in which a man gets captured with the goal of driving a confession out of him...
Mac: Nasty little son of a b¡tch, isn't he?
Charlie: There's, like, a real bite to him.
Mac: You know what I think we should do? We just rough him up a little bit. You know, just get the truth out of him, just a little bit.
Charlie: It's a great idea.
Mac: We don't want to bruise him up, I just wish we had, like, a hose or something. You know, we could blast the truth out of him. Right?
Charlie: That'd be good...
Setting aside the episode insisting a lot about ancient authentic irish traditions and other parallels I don't have time to get into, this ALL reminds me of course of the plan from the castle about the irish doctor in S15, you know, pour scalding liquid from the murder hole (a predecessor to the glory hole!) and char him.
Dennis: Yeah, so you'll lure him under the hole, where I will, uh, douse him with boiling oil or hot tar or really any scalding substance.
Frank: Wait, you're gonna char the guy? Gonna char him up?
Dennis: Yeah. I'm not gonna kill him or anything, but it's got to be hot enough to be annoying as shit, right? You know what I mean?
Frank: Yeah. Burn him.
Dennis: Uh, he's gonna get burned. But, I mean, Charlie's got to see him lose his cool, so we can expose him as the child-abandoning monster that he really is.
In s15 later, Dennis talks about that incident as "taking care of him". We all giggled at the gay implication of that, but the thing is, Mac is a Serial Killer and Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender both play with that duality of meaning, as well.
Dee: Could you come take care of me?
Charlie: I'll allow it.
Mac: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I can take care of you.
Dennis: What were you planning on doing to Sandy?
Mac: What do you think, dude?
Dennis: Well, according to this phone transcript, Mac... you were going to "take care of her"?
Mac: Yeah. Take care of her.
Mac: He told me these are people from his past, and he's got to take care of them. And once he takes care of them, he's gonna take care of me.
And it really is like that sick extended metaphor where on one side we have Mac and Dennis, on the other we have death. Same as Dennis' Double Life. You know, "give me dong or give me death". That you can either love someone, or kill them. It reflect the concept of the trap, I think.
But speaking of which...
Frank: Stay away from my bang maid.
Charlie: Damn it, Frank! This isn't about them... Charlie... or Mac or anyone else... this is about you and me, bro. This is about dudes living together, hanging out, sharing their bed and their life...
Mac: No. That's not what this is about! This is about people meeting back up after many years and sparks flying... and families getting back together and raising little boys so they can be happy again!
Much like Clip Show, that same duality. On one side living with Mac (dudes living together, plus Charlie and Frank are often a parallel for Mac and Dennis), on the other, raising Brian Jr (families getting together and raising little boys).
Charlie: Shut up, Frank. You don't know what she wants any more than she knows what you want. You know who knows what you want? I do. I've always known what you want. And I can give you want you want. Just let me give you what you want.
I don't like jumping into specific event predictions because I always get them wrong, and I don't find any fun in that. And while the trap and rats meta is real, I may be completely off with it here. I just like drawing connections.
Tumblr media
But speaking of traps and ruses, here's another bit of dialogue that comes to me, in times of need.
Charlie: I see you all fell for my ruse.
Dee: What ruse? You asking us to go on a hike with your dad, and us saying "yes"?
Charlie: Oldest trick in the book.
Dennis: Asking someone to do something?
Charlie: Exactly.
Dee: And then, them doing it?
Charlie: Precisely, yes.
I think traps usually are something you hatch to uncover a ruse.
That's why in all of these examples, the goal of capturing someone is to draw a confession out of them. But they don't work that way, because what the capturer and the captured hold as truth doesn't align. Mac is a serial killer, they expect him to confess to serial killing, but he was just dating Carmen. Catches a leprechaun, they expect him to admit that he is, but he really isn't. Even in Worst Bar in Philly, another ep where they kidnap a guy, they are trying to extort a fake review from the journalist.
So if the trap succeeds, it'll have a different result than intended by who hatched it, and uncover a truth that wasn't the expected one. Just based on statistics, I guess...
If the intended goal is really to hatch a plan to humiliate Dennis, char him or whatever, then what it may actually do is break his cold, calculated shell. But I don't know...
Frank, I am thinking on the physical level, the metaphysical level, the pataphysical level.
So we've all talked about meta and that's fun, but let's talk pataphysical too since Flowers for Charlie mentions it.
That's difficult, as there are over one hundred definitions of pataphysics according to wikipedia.
A few are:
"Pataphysics will examine the laws governing exceptions, and will explain the universe supplementary to this one"
"Pataphysics is patient; 'Pataphysics is benign; 'Pataphysics envies nothing, is never distracted, never puffed up, it has neither aspirations nor seeks not its own, it is even-tempered, and thinks not evil; it mocks not iniquity: It is enraptured with scientific truth; it supports everything, believes everything, has faith in everything, and upholds everything that is."
"Pataphysics "the science of the particular" does not, therefore, study the rules governing the general recurrence of a periodic incident (the expected case) so much as study the games governing the special occurrence of a sporadic accident (the excepted case). Jarry performs humorously on behalf of literature what Nietzsche performs seriously on behalf of philosophy. Both thinkers in effect attempt to dream up a "gay science" whose joie de vivre thrives wherever the tyranny of truth has increased our esteem for the lie and wherever the tyranny of reason has increased our esteem for the mad."
"Pataphysics is science, albeit one with an aesthetic sensibility; it regards “humor” and “the serious” with the same imperturbable gaze. "
"Pataphysics is simply an awareness that everything, including our very selves - is what we pretend it to be."
In other words, truth is not what's actually real, what we do or our past, truth is what we believe it is. Much like identity.
One more.
"You have seen that far from regretting the past I would simply suggest that we improve it’Pataphysics will always be plunging ahead, precisely because it is static in time, and because time, itself, is retrograde by definition."
So if one is dissatisfied with their past, they can simply change it... by going there. This concept is played around plenty in Clip Show, but I want to talk about something else. I want to talk about Dee Day.
That is the episode where we take off Dennis' make up, but there's something else too.
This is where Dee talks about wanting to do a "retrospective" of her characters.
And the plan to make the ordinance pass, includes the gang stealing the councilwoman keys and setting her clocks back so she would miss the vote.
And look, we do have one flashback promised to us, in the bowling episode if I recall correctly.
"But is there any other canonical way of viewing the future (whether one calls oneself serious, in the profane or pataphysical sense of the word), than as a bouquet of imaginary Solutions – that is, potentialities?"
I forget if I've talked about potential in sunny. The seeds, the puppies, the eggs... always about the potential of life. I think it's fascinating. Like there is an infinite branch of ways in which macdennis could happen, right? And that's the potential. And by bringing it into the text, you're effectively killing it.
But are you, really?
The first time round is a bitter pill
But the second chance is better still
And then we find new seeds to sow
To grow our love we didn't know
There's always new seeds to plant...
But I'm not done with the pataphysical. Oh no, there's more.
There's also the fact that Flowers for Charlie talks about the structure and the foundation. When asked where the foundation is, they respond "on top", but Frank corrects them, on the bottom.
I have a feeling both answers are correct, just like both of Dennis' lives are true, and here's why.
Concepts that embody pataphysical include:
Antimony: An antinomy is the mutually incompatible. It represents the duality of things, the echo or symmetry, the good and the evil at the same time.
Clinamen: A clinamen is the unpredictable swerve of atoms that poet Christian Bök calls "... the smallest possible aberration that can make the greatest possible difference". An example is Jarry's merdre, a swerve of French: merde ("shit").
Syzygy: The syzygy originally comes from astronomy and denotes the alignment of three celestial bodies in a straight line. In a pataphysical context it is the pun. It usually describes a conjunction of things, something unexpected and surprising. Serendipity is a simple chance encounter but the syzygy has a more scientific purpose.
Absolute: The absolute is the idea of a transcended reality.
Anomaly: An anomaly represents the exception. Jarry said that, "Pataphysics will examine the laws governing exceptions, and will explain the universe supplementary to this one." Bök calls it "... the repressed part of a rule which ensures that the rule does not work".
Pataphor: The pataphor is a term for an unusually extended metaphor based on Alfred Jarry's "science" of 'pataphysics'. Whereas a metaphor compares a real object or event to a seemingly unrelated subject to emphasize their similarities, the pataphor uses the newly created metaphorical similarity as a reality on which to base itself. In going beyond mere ornamentation of the original idea, the pataphor seeks to describe a new and separate world, in which an idea or aspect has taken on a life of its own.
Once again this rings true for Clip Show in general, as a concept, but I would maybe dare say this applies to macdennis regarding many associated concepts such as the trap or the crate. In particular, Macdennis as a concept has been morphing and evolving separate to the textual plots, due to heavy metaphor use.
Tumblr media
In particular, they're always placed in the role of married couple, in multiple episodes. Break up, Suburbs, Gets Romantic, Mortgage Crisis. It doesn't just say "you are like a married couple", it shows them behaving as one. Therefore, if looked at under a pataphysical lense, that's what they are. That's the reality of it.
Of course, since this whole spiel is born from one word in a single episode from season 9, there's no telling how much it actually matters. It may be a happy coincidence. Does it really matter? (Not in pataphysics).
In a similar sense, we spoke Mac into coming out as audience, because we believed in it as our reality.
And another thing, since I'm riffing a lil bit at this point.
But since Dennis has been intentionally led to portray two separate and apparently opposing realities, the audience is equally divided on him, and as a result both realities keep appearing as true.
So in DLLARSO Mac is stealing Dennis' car and using it without him knowing. If we go with the whole "Dennis' car is his identity" which is very dear and near to me and I basically think of as true at least since Misses The Boat (and this is a s3 ep, which is why I'm saying IF), I'm wondering how this extends in season 16.
Well for starters, we see Mac behind the counter twice just in trailers. That has been, typically, Dennis' spot as the bartender. Very rarely does Mac cross behind, even less so on his own. Notably, it happens in Mac Fights Gay Marriage AND Dennis Gets Divorced (which btw, these two parter titles make it sound like they're the two that got divorced lmao, but um).
Another way in which we see him possibly take Dennis' place (or walk in his shoes! wear his skin, whatever you want to call it), is by the fact Dennis is teaching him the DENNIS system (an altered version I assume?), like passing the torch on to him (and Dee, who wants that place in the gang hierarchy as well...).
Finally, something that may not be a thing at all, but he meets Chase in S16, only Chase thinks he already met Mac. Because Dennis gave him Mac's name in Stranded. I'm expecting some name shenanigans of some kind. (perhaps Mac will use Dennis' name? I'm not banking on that, but how's he gonna explain? that is, unless someone else already did, in his pursue to make amends... well, who knows. you know what they say about assuming)
It's funny because Stranded is an episode all about how saying no brings you misfortune, while saying yes brings you luck. And money. 10.000$ of them specifically, both in Stranded and, casually, the original amount won by Mac with the scratcher.
The amount that... after all the bills, ends up being only 14$ dollars. (like the seasons?)
Stranded is also interesting on its own... Frank avoiding the main road because he doesn't want to pay the toll... Okay, that's enough. Getting off track.
So, final notes, since this is a more speculative and rambly post, and I'm under the impression the metaphors discussed (rats, traps, severed heads...) aren't complete (meaning they're gonna expand on these more in S16), I'm very much hoping everyone chimes in with their thoughts and speculations... perhaps other episodes that you think may fit this... let's throw away the oars and get into it, like, who cares if it ends up wrong, you know? I may come back to this too after the season airs to see what else there was...
#iasip#it's always sunny in philadelphia#s16 spoilers#always sunny#macdennis#macden#analysis#meta#RARE macdennis meta post from me... I've been burned before by being terribly wrong about something#and since then i dont do event predictions anymore. aside from ''i think macdennis is real. heres why.''#this post makes me sound like a flat earther#and i didnt even get into the whole power bottom = lowest in the structure but highest in power.#the ultimate pataphysical duality!!#and also.... flipping things upside down which is a vibe i got and cant articulate. mostly from that one ep where they flip the pyramid#and woop it's a scheme#how could the bottom be on top? you flip it#similarly sunny right now is ''flipped'' aka we are at the LOWEST OF LOW which for us means we're near peaking#but literally thats just conjecture. like bash me with a stick idk thats just what i believe#please add input so i dont look dum. something about rat eggs found in holes like jumper. anything really#i love connecting dots i recommend it as an activity to everyone#if rcg reads this they're gonna pay for my therapy finally. i count that as a win tbh. mental health day serve#ALSO IN STRANDED DENNIS SHOWS CHARLIE A HICKEY THAT HE SAYS HE GOT AFTER GETTING UNEXPECTEDLY CAUGHT IN A RAINSTORM#lil nuggets of gay dennis that i take whenever i can#the truck driver who has a wife and kids but is secretly gay is also kinda sus. what an ep to be threading in s16#''lex what's threading'' i invent my own terms bc im crazy but thats when an ep themes connect w a future ep themes. i also call it echoing#if u even care#will mac pay the troll toll to get into the baby boy's hole? tune in next season to find out!#if ur wondering i think the ruse is gay marriage so i do hope he says yes. idk who ''he'' is. maybe theyre both planning to propose#i once read a fic with that plot. they were trying to one up one another with the proposal. i think that person should sue rcg#ok I'll shut up now. annoyin ass

No. 1: Luther
I don't have much to say on Luther other than that the romance was completely unnessesary. It did nothing for the characters and moved the plot forward none, and furthermore it wasn't even interesting. The characters moved into it way too fast to be believable, and to be honest I was just bored with it, because it was a boring, cookie-cutter romance with no real substance.
His death didn't even move forward the plot at all either, they could have killed Klaus and left him alive-- the result would have been the same, given that Five was already certain that Reginald was up to something.
No. 2: Diego
Diego was honestly the most bearable character this season, partially due to the fact that he was actually in character, if you ignore the fact that he looked at a white kid and was like "yeah sure that's mine and Lila's". Did nobody think of that?
His character didn't really move forward either, partially due to the fact that his entire arc was focused on a kid that wasn't even related to the plot, and then focused on Lila, whose involvement didn't even really make sense. His reaction to Klaus's death-by-Stan was extremely underdone, and didn't really have any emotional impact.
No. 3: Allison
Allison was villianized heavily this season, what with her grudge against Viktor and her newfound willingness to rumour anyone for any reason. And honestly, I don't blame her. The writing was shit when it came to her, but I'd be angry at Viktor too, even if she did go overboard at times. The assault scene made zero sense for her character (at least in my opinion) given that she seemed to be dedicated to Ray and her daughter, and it had zero impact on the plot OR the characters, which is even worse. Her character overall had the most impact on the plot, which is laughable given that the majority of her actions were being mean to Viktor and rumouring people unnecessarily to show that she was having issues, which could have done numerous other ways.
No. 4: Klaus
Klaus had none of the charm that made him likeable past episode 2. His weird alliegance with Reginald did nothing for the plot other than working to move his powers forwards, which could have been done with multiple other people, and getting Reginald off the pills, which was a weird and convoluted subplot that didn't make any sense other than to explain why he hadn't completed his project already.
He didn't move forward character-wise at all except for his powers, the entirety of which made zero sense given that he hated Reginald more than any of his other siblings save maybe Diego, and overall his death(s) made no difference, even the ones by automobile accident. And seriously, did nobody stop to check on the guy they killed with their car?
No. 5: Number Five
God, okay, here we go. Five was (and unfortunately still is) my favourite character. That said, he was unrecognizable this season. He has very few actual personality traits, most of which relate to his motive-- save the world, or rather, as we've been shown, save the world (but mostly his siblings).
We've been shown multiple times over that he will go to extreme lengths to keep his siblings both alive and somewhat happy, and this season completely obliterated that. Out of his five (ahaha get it?) or so personality traits (asshole, sarcastic, tsundere-like, secretive, cares incredibly deeply), we got shown three, and the ones that were missing are the ones that make him bearable and sensical as a character.
None of his actions from seasons one and two make sense if he doesn't love and care for his family incredibly deeply, but if you were to just watch season three, you wouldn't know it. His reaction to Luther and Klaus's deaths were both underwhelming and also counfounding-- we were shown a very OP and useful power last season-- turning back time. He could have used it multiple times to at least try to save Luther and Klaus, but ultimately didn't, for... what reason? Don't ask me, I have no clue.
Furthermore, his having started the Commission makes no sense-- he hates authority and rules, and hates the Comission even more.
Overall, his character fell bland, flat, and nonsensical.
No. 6 2: Ben
I don't have much to say about Ben. He was an interesting character, that's for sure, and I enjoyed his reconcilliation with Klaus in episode... eight? Nine? But he needed something more. His sudden turn-around to wanting to be part of the family was out of the blue, and it needed more to prelude it.
His character made the most sense, but overall I felt like I was left wanting more of him and less of his weird grab for power, which brings me to the fact that for the Sparrows, numbers seemed interchangable? For the Umbrellas, it was more of a "we're our numbers and then our names", but the Sparrows had a "names then numbers" approach, which was never explained.
A lot of things when it came to the Sparrows were never explained-- Christopher, whatever the "Jennifer Incident" was and why and how it killed Ben, and probably other things I'm not remembering at the moment.
No. 7: Viktor
I'm going to prelude this by saying that Viktor is and has been my least favourite character for a number of reasons, and that hasn't changed.
I went into the season hoping that they wouldn't do a big 'trans narrative', partially because I'm trans and also aware that no matter what they did, it was going to come off weirdly, partially because they weren't planning for it ahead of time, and partially because I was concerned that it would end up being his entire character arc.
It was a lot better than I worried it would be, but I did spend the entire time cringing at the stilted way they addressed it-- especially Five's reaction. (I don't think he'd be a transphobe, but he spent ages zero to thirteen sheltered and being raised by a robot, an alien, and a monkey, and ages thirteen to fifty-eight (ish) alone in an apocalyptic wasteland, and I can't imagine that reading up on trans stuff would be a priority for him).
My personal issues with the way they handled the trans bit aside, Viktor was focused on way more than he really needed to be, especially with his conflict with Allison. I'm still salty about the fact that he tried to sneak Harlan out and had way more loyalty to him than he did his entire family, but to be honest that's more of a personal issue I think?
I genuinely just don't like Viktor all that much, and this season didn't help-- he was babied by the narrative, and Allison blaming him (somewhat rightfully, even if she went about it badly) was treated even worse.
She was correct in that he never faces consequences for his actions, especially given that they still haven't adressed the fact that he tried to kill her and very nearly succeeded.
TLDR; Luther was boring, Diego was the only bearable one, Allison was villianized and OOC, Klaus was weird (derogatory), Five was just an asshole instead of a lovable asshole, Ben needed more personality, and Viktor was just annoying.

Rant about the story in PSO2:NGS
As you can gather from the title, this is going to be a fairly long rant about the story and current state of things in "Phantasy Star Online 2 : New Genesis". Because I have a lot of thoughts after going through the main "plot" of things about three different times.
I will preface this by saying that I am not a long-time player. Many people have played the original "base" version of the game for a lot longer than I have. I jumped in when it finally released for the west via Steam. However I did play through most of the story of the base version of the game. So I do know what I am talking about when I can draw comparisons between the two.
Now, I'm not the only one who thinks the story of NGS is bad. In fact I am certain that there are a LOT of people out there who despise the story with every fiber of their being. And I can honestly see why. To be fairly honest the story of NGS is absolutely boggling in how barren it is.
With the base game you went through several unique locations, had various characters at play, and had more of a concise idea of the "plan" behind certain villains.
You get none of that with NGS.
In fact the most you get is roughly a handful of characters that you sometimes bounce around from, and maybe a sort of "villain" that is literally there to be a punching bag. I am not even joking about that. That is literally the point of the main "enemy" in the game's story. They are there for you to literally beat up as a form of "training". And the game tells us this has been going on for AT LEAST 500 years.
Mind you you only learn about this in the last story mission of the fifth "chapter" of the game. Like you are literally given an exposition dump after defeating a "villain"-ish type of character. And then just suddenly introduced to a new type of enemy that is literally a different version of the same enemies you have been fighting. I am not making any of this up.
Like say what you will about Luther or the Falz spawn or any of the Dark Falz of the base game. At least you had a more basic understanding of what in the flying hell was going on.
Like I wish I could say that NGS is some sort of fever-dream type of scenario. But I sadly cannot because it sadly is the reality of what we're having to deal with. Literally all of what has been done thus far in the NGS story could literally be just one whole "Episode" in the base game. That is a staggering feat of underdevelopment. You can't even say that it's "raw" because it hasn't even been cooked. The player base has been constantly drip-fed content, that even the Fremen would say is torture.
So with all of that in the open, how can we fix this? How can we take what is, for the most part, a fundamentally broken story and make it better? Well, let me do this in two ways. The first version is how to fix what we already have and make it "better" in a sense. The second version will be my day-dream of what NGS should have been from the very start.
So let's dive in, shall we?
--Fixing NGS--
Alright, so let's start by fixing what is already there. For now we'll ignore "chapter" 6, of what is probably meant to be the first Episode, for the time being. And instead we'll do something to radically change the game's story. First we'll start with introducing either a new, or maybe "old", character into the game. One that PSO2 fans will immediately go absolutely nuts about.
Matoi.
Now how will we introduce Matoi? Do it via the sort of "Meteorn" type of playbook? Well to that I say it can be a bit of a "yes and no" situation. Sure she would drop down to the planet like any other Meteorn but in a different type of pod. Like something that looks like a familiar type of pod from base PSO2, or maybe via a drop-ship.
I kind of like the second idea to be honest.
Make it to where suddenly it isn't one planet against the odds with a seemingly existential threat. Introduce the idea of one of the old ARKs ships coming to Halpha or having been in the neighborhood but got alerted by the presence of the new enemies, the Starless.
Hell, let's even expand it outwards. Make it to where multiple towns and places have a sudden influx of various people from across the region of space near Halpha, or part of the expedition team to Halpha. Introduce more races other than varying shades of "Human". Show off all the new and unique designs and character creator parts with all of these different peoples and races. Literally use this as a way to show players that "Hey, new customization options are on the way!" and integrate it into the story.
In short, don't make Halpha the literal "center" of the universe and expand the scope of the story at the same time. Make it to where the old guard of ARKs is being thawed out for renewed combat. Essentially add back in the "Star" to Phantasy Star. That way the next "chapter" or "episode" or what have you, is about exploring certain planets. Make it to where you have a starter "free roam" area on certain planets before fleshing them out. Take this ground-pounders war to the stars.
Either that or have one of the ARKs ships of old crash into the Halphan sea and allow us to explore the interior of the ship like all of the other zones thus far. Turn it into it's own island of sorts. Allow us to help the people of the ARKs ship get things back up and running and introduce a number of new features for players.
That would be the easier/cop-out way of doing it, but still would be a good way to reintroduce the "Phantasy" of being able to go into space again.
--The Daydream--
Some of this day-dream is going to sound familiar to those who have played Phantasy Star Universe. Because I love the idea of a central "station" of sorts and it honestly fits really well. So that is going to be my first "big" change. Instead of just one singular planet, you are going to several of them.
Now they don't have to be planets from the base game. In fact it doesn't need to be anywhere that you may have seen before. Instead why not make it to where they are uniquely themed planets, sort of similar to the zones you find on Halpha but radically different. Like say take the idea of Stia in NGS and make it to where it is a large planet with a balance of Geo-thermal activity and lush greenery.
Or hell, go crazy with it! Like think of a planet where all the foliage is made out of crystals that you can harvest. Or a planet that is filled to the brim of mushrooms of all types and kinds. Maybe have an ocean planet where you are constantly walking on the sea-floor. Or even have our characters go to a moon!
And all of these planets will come with their own unique race. It doesn't have to be specifically races that we've come to know and enjoy from other titles. But instead ones that are unique to these planets. And each one of these planets has their own town that is run by the race of that planet, but also has a bunch of characters from the station visiting as well.
Now how do we tie these planets together? Well if we must, then let us keep the idea of the Starless. A Malevolent, seemingly bio-mechanical, foe of sorts. And these planets that you go to happen to be on a sort of "defensive line" between the Starless and the rest of the galaxy proper. But as you go on, you start to discover ruins and facilities that seem to suggest at a far far FAR older civilization and how these Starless came to be.
And in the midst of all of this, have some sort of inner conflict brewing between people in ARKs. Make it to where there are multiple species working together but they each have their own way of "dealing" with the situation. Or hell, throw in a terrorist faction of some kind. Make it to where there is more than just one foe going on that is creating a unique struggle.
I'm not saying to make it exactly like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, or Babylon 5 . . . but y'know, it wouldn't be the worst idea to follow. Either way I feel that this, with a whole slew of other ideas and mechanics, can make a far better game than we have. Just kinda getting a little tired of the "Sci-Fi" aspect of the game not really being put to the forefront.
--Conclusion--
This has probably been a long winded rant that may make sense in some areas, but not all of them. But I wanted to put all of this out there because the game is frustrating me to no end. And I simply do not like that it IS doing that.
I just want a nice space themed MMORPG where I can traverse planets and meet new and exciting species to either converse or fight with. Something that doesn't make me frustrated or question why in the hell am I still playing the damned game.
Thanks for reading if you did.

So, riddle me this. If, once a vampire catches your scent they have it for life, why did it take 15 years for the vamps in this episode to hunt down the Winchesters?
Also, why would a freshly turned vampire (Jenny, I figured out which one she was - not from the show, I had to look it up) side with her captors so quickly? They literally just killed her boyfriend and turned her into a vampire.
Why was it Jenny and not Kate who came after the Winchesters? Did she even actually come after the Winchesters or was it more of a happy accident? I only watched the finale once, when it aired, so I don't remember - but I don't think she said anything about hunting them down, just more of a 'remember me?' type situation.
They killed Kate's life mate, Luther didn't mean jackshit to Jenny. It would have made sense to run into her again, maybe.
The finale was terrible for tons of reasons, mostly for it's horrible messaging and atrocious endings for the three main characters, but it also just didn't fucking make sense.
Also, I don't think they ever mentioned again that vampire know your scent for life. I feel like that was a one off for this episode.

ok so i ended up watching the first three episodes w out my friends because I couldn’t wait (I feel bad now but aaaaaaa) and this is what I learned
- Diego is a shit dad: probably because he never really had a good model to look up to as a kid. I was surprised that his kid was white???? and not adopted??? How does a desi person and a hispanic person have a white biological child????? Please explain, netflix good lord
- on the related note of the child, stanley, he’s fucking fantastic. Kid can make a hell of a molotov cocktail.
- Reggie is... surprisingly sad this season? He looked kind of like a drowned rat and I almost felt bad for him then i remembered that he locked Klaus in a maloseum
- I expected to like Sloane but she’s kind of manipulative. I don’t know what to think of her.
- Luther acted high the entire time but maybe that’s just how he usually is, I don’t remember. I haven’t watched the other seasons in a long time
- They handled Viktor’s coming out very very well! I loved the different reactions. My brother was talking when Viktor came out to Allison so I didn’t get to hear it, but I especially loved how enthusiastic Luther was about it.
- Five!!!!!! Five five five. I missed seeing him so so so much. I’m so glad he’s back. I loved how he was able to take a step back and just enjoy! I also found it funny how it was the complete opposite than it was in my World’s Largest Ball Of Twine fic- in the fic, Five was on a mission, and Klaus just wanted to see some sights, so he was the one who yanked the wheel into the exit. In the actual episode, the roles were completely reversed!!!
- Lila my beloved!!!! She is so so pretty. I will never not find it funny how she and Five can go from killing each other to casual conversation. (Also, the plaid skirt fit???? that was hot as fUCK) (Id let her kill me in a heartbeat) (maybe im just depressed though)
-I am so so so so glad that they are finally letting Allison lose her shit. SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH A HELL OF A LOT OF STUFF!!!! SHE DESERVES TO LOSE IT IF SHE WANTS!!!! and she does and thats fucking fantastic!!! Im so glad for her!!!!!
- klaus’s aunt was only in the show for like a brief two scenes but she’s awesome i love her
- Ben is an asshole, lmao
- I wish Marcus hadn’t died! You theorists got it right. I’m disappointed but not surprised.
- I know Grace was religious in the comics but not THIS RELIGIOUS JESUS CHRIST WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ICONIC ‘HARGREEVES IS NOT GOD’ PANEL??? Grace honey the kugelblitz is not your lord and savior
- (Gerard Way, please see a therapist)
- my immediate thought was JAYME THE RAINWING but she’s actually got a super cool power. The dance scene had me in literal tEARS
- on that note Five’s scene with Dolores!! Jayme that was cruel.
- (does anyone else know what he was saying to Dolores? I know it was italian but I don’t know italian)
- Alphonso was pretty cool! HOW on earth did all you fanfic writers predict the voodoo doll thing????
- HARLAN. I GUESSED HIM AS SOON AS I SAW THE CASSETTES. It made me so happy to see him!!! I missed him!!!!
- AND ALSO MR. PENNYCRUMB. I saw the collar and immediatley went “THATS HIM THATS MY DOG” and he didnt end up belonging to Five but its oKAy (and then he fucking DIED)
- Luther child. people know what condoms are
- Christopher is so weird wtf. he dont even got a personality he just a cube
- if i have more notes ill reblog this post but i dont remember them rn

Chapter 7: Nothing That Matters
“Oh, good,” Luther says as he sees Klaus. “You're up. We need to talk. You, me, and the others. So meet me in the living room. Like, now-ish.”
“Yeah, that sounds like a real rager,” Klaus replies. “But my schedule's already chock-full.”
“Yeah, no time for that,” Luther says. “The world's ending in three days.”
“Excuse me?” Y/N stares at him as Allison gives out the coffee she brought for everyone.
“Three days?” Allison repeats.
“That's what Five said,” Luther tells them.
“The old bastard did mention the apocalypse, come to think of it," Klaus says. “He just left out the part about how soon.”
The glow around Y/N shifts, intensifying before seeming to pull tighter around her. She rubs her arms. She thinks about everything she has talked to her brothers about in the past few days and consciously pulls the Wisp in to try and hide her feelings better than she has in the past. She and Five used to be close. It's not until she feels Diego next to her that she looks at him. “I thought it was drunk hyperbole,” she tells him.
“We all did,” Diego assures her.
“But can we trust him? I don't know if you've noticed, but Five's a little…”  Allison asks, whistling and gesturing that he is cuckoo.
“Our little psycho,” Klaus chuckles.
“He was pretty convincing,” Luther notes. “If he wasn't trying to stop an apocalypse, those lunatics wouldn't be chasing him.”
“That's why they were after him?” Diego asks.
“Yeah.”
“What did Five even see?” Allison asks Luther.
Luther hesitates, “Uh... Apparently, we all fought together against whoever was responsible.”
“And he didn’t tell you, Y/N?” Allison asks.
“No, he told me that he had it handled, and he’d tell me if it didn’t work.”
“I guess it didn’t work,” Diego states.
“Okay.” Luther says awkwardly as he stands up from his seat, seemingly wanting to move on. “So, here's the plan.” Luther begins, “Uh, we go through Dad's research…”
“Wait, what?” Allison asks. “Hold on, hold on.”
“Maybe I should try and find those assassins. I can-” Y/N starts.
“We need a plan first,” Diego tells her.
“As I said, Dad’s research,” Luther tries to explain again.
“Wait a tick, wait a tick, wait a tick.” Klaus asks. “What actually happened the first time around?”
“Yeah." Diego agrees. "What are you not tellin' us? Come on, big boy, spit it out.”
Luther sighs and mumbles an answer. “We died.”
“What was that?” Allison asks him.
He coughs and clarifies. “I said, uh, we died.”
Y/N reaches over without thinking and grabs Diego’s hand. He grips her hand tight. It is too quiet as it seems to sink in.
Diego tosses a knife in the air and catches it like a nervous habit behind the bar. Y/N has her elbows on the bar in front of them and rubs at her temples. He watches her closely as she leans heavily against the surface.
"No, we need to figure this out."
"Is it just us?"
"It's everybody."
"In the house?"
"The whole planet?"
"No, outside the house."
"Everyone died."
"Wow," she breathes and startles slightly when she feels a hand on her back. She looks up to find a slightly concerned-looking Diego glancing from her to the entryway where Viktor and Leonard now stand. She follows his gaze and immediately strengthens up. Diego's hand stays where it is. She finds it oddly comforting. She isn't used to people showing up and her not noticing through the Wisp. Her brothers might be right, and she is pushing it too far. She leans into Diego without thinking. He doesn't seem to mind. He just shifts his arm around her shoulder and pulls her in tight against his side. On instinct, she pulls the Wisp in as much as she can to dim her glow and lets Diego sort of shield her from the stranger now in the room.
Viktor gives her an odd look at how she practically shrinks into Diego's side before shifting their gaze to Diego's stern look and then to the others.
"Hey."
"Hmm?"
"What's going on?" Viktor asks.
"It's a family matter."
"A family matter. So you couldn't bother to include me."
"V, we-" she tries but gives up as the others start. She just leans further into Diego.
"You're okay. I got you," he whispers to her, nearly against her temple, before he turns back to watch the rest of the group.
"No, it's not like that," Luther tries.
"We were-"
"Don't let me interrupt," Viktor tells them.
"Wait."
"I'll fill you in later when we're alone," Allison tells her.
"Please, please, don't bother,” Viktor says. “And I won't either."
"Viktor, that's not fair."
"Fair? There's nothing fair about being your brother,” Viktor looks at them all. “I have been left out of everything for as long as I can remember. And I used to think it was Dad's fault, but he's dead. So it turns out you're the assholes."
“Ouch,” Klaus says. They all feel it.
Y/N leans her forehead against Diego’s shoulder and wishes the ground would just swallow her whole. They all feel guilty. Diego doesn’t like that feeling, so he does what he does best, focuses on something else. Something he can do. Like running his hand along her arm to anchor her. To give her something else to focus on too.
“Viktor’s just angry,” Diego whispers. “You always tried, but Dad never let him in on what mattered.”
“Doesn’t matter, V still hates us,” she says, but it comes out mumbled on his shoulder.
"I'm gonna go find Viktor and explain," Allison says.
"No, wait, there isn't time."
At that, Y/N just closes her eyes and basically gives up holding her own weight. She knows Diego has her. The Wisp is still hidden away. And she takes a moment to just embrace the dark. One moment of weakness won't kill her. She misses the confused look from Klaus and the concerned one from Luther. "Get on with it," Diego mouths, holding her tight as best he can with his good arm.
"We need to figure out what causes the apocalypse," the discussion starts again.
"Now, there are loads of possibilities. Nuclear war, asteroids.” Everyone seems to be at least somewhat focused.
She just listens.
“But I'm thinking this is about the Moon."
"Right? Dad must have sent me up there for a reason,” Luther agrees. "And I was giving him daily updates on the conditions, I sent field samples."
"The first thing we need to do-is find his research."
"Hold on. Hold the phone," Klaus interrupts. "We all died fighting this thing the first time around. Remember?”
“Klaus, shockingly, has a point,” Diego says. “What gives us a win this time?"
"Five. Last time we didn't have him. We weren't all together. This time, we'll have the full force of the Umbrella Academy. That's what we need."
"So, where's Five now?"
"Nowhere I've found," she says as she finally opens her eyes and lets the Wisp form. She attempts to strengthen her resolve. They have too much to do. It’s selfish for her to put all her strength in Diego. He has his own fight to finish. She moves to stand on her own.
"Well, he had a plan to change the timeline," Luther informs. “He'll be back soon."
"I'm going after Hazel and Cha-Cha," Diego says as he pulls away from her now that she has it more together. She smiles sadly. She knew he’d say that.
"What, right now?" Luther asks.
"Hell, yeah. Three days. I'm losing light by the minute."
"Wait, Diego," Luther tries to stop him. "Look, I know you wanna avenge your friend, but we got a bigger problem here."
"She wasn't just some friend. If I'm gonna die, I need to know I killed those bastards first."
"It's not about Dad," Diego says.
"It's not about me."
While Diego and Luther argue, Klaus looks at Y/N
“You okay, Sunshine?” Klaus asks.
“Just a bit tired,” she admits. “How about you? You look a little green around the gills.”
Klaus chuckles. “No need to worry about me, Sunshine.”
“Wanna take a nap like the old days?” she asks.
“Don’t tempt me with a good time,” Klaus smirks. “But raincheck, there’s something I need to do.”
“Okay.” She huffs a laugh.
"The longer I wait, Hazel-” Diego continues to argue.
“You don't have to do this alone,” Luther tells him. "I know how important this is to you."
"Stop making it about you." Diego glares.
"I'm coming with you," she says since she couldn’t convince Klaus to rest. Maybe she could help keep Diego out of trouble.
"You're staying here," he tells her.
"Not happening," she shakes her head.
"Not up for debate," he insists. "You're exhausted, and you didn't even notice Viktor got here. Your guard is down because you need sleep. Fin de la discusión."
"Klaus? Klaus?” Luther looks at Klaus as he starts to leave. “Klaus!"
Klaus is caught. "Yeah! Sorry."
"So, what?” Luther affronts. “You're giving up on the world, too?"
"Yeah, pretty much.” Klaus nods. “Yeah. Mm-hmm."
"So that's it. You're cool with us all dying in three days? I can't believe it."
"It's just us,” Luther looks at Allison, but Allison already has her mind made up. He can tell she does. “Oh, please, not you, too."
"I have to book a flight back to LA. If this happens I have to be with my daughter, custody be damned. And you said it yourself we need the full force of the Academy to even stand a chance.
I'm sorry, Luther."
Luther looks over at Y/N.
“I’m here, Luther. I’ll help, but Diego’s right. I’m no use to anyone if V and her friend could get the drop on the Wisp. Anyone can. Just give me a couple of hours to rest up, you find that research, and I’ll help you go through it. Or I can search once I’ve gotten some sleep.”
“Fine,” Luther relents.
“It’s a few hours, and then I can get back to going at lightspeed. I’ll be able to literally speed this process up. So, wake me up when Five gets here, or you find anything. Okay, big brother?” She gives his forearm a squeeze to attempt to reassure him.
“Yeah, okay, I will.” He agrees. He notices Allison raising an eyebrow as she gathers her things.
“We get gruff, and she gets off easy?” Allison smirks, but there is a hint of hurt to it. “Since when is she your ‘little sister’? Or is it because you’re Number One and she’s Number Eight?”
Luther is confused for a second by the strange look. “She says it because I’m literally huge now. She thinks it’s funny, and it’s not mean, not the way she means it. It…solidarity? I don’t know. It’s- she wanted me to know I’m not the only that can’t hide who they are. She can’t just turn the glow off. She means well. But that’s not important. She’s right. She needs sleep. She’s the only other person that has been trying to get everyone on the same team. And honestly, she keeps Diego in line better than anyone else. She’s trying to help, probably too much. And that’s more than anyone else is willing to do. That and her plan actually works and could benefit all of us. I don’t see anyone else trying. Or staying.”
“Rude,” Allison says. “But point taken.”
Y/N goes to get something to eat and is absolutely shocked to see Grace.
“Mom?” she smiles.
“Y/N, are you alright? You look tired.”
“I am, but you’re back. That’s great. Diego will be so happy.”
Grace smiles. “How can I help you?”
“It’s fine I was just going to get a snack and take a nap.”
“Sit, I will make you something to eat,” Grace tells her.
“That’s not necessary, Mom, I can-”
“If you truly are tired, then I must insist,” Grace states. “It’s for your safety. Can’t risk our little ray of sunshine.”
She knows better than to argue with Grace. So she sits at the table and waits. Grace starts to make her something to eat. She smiles when Grace sets a bowl of fresh oatmeal in front of her.
“Something hearty that hopefully won't upset your stomach while you rest,” Grace tells her.
“You always know just what we need,” she smiles up at Grace. “Thanks, Mom.”
“Anytime, Y/N,” Grace returns her smile easily. “I am happy to help.” She listens to Grace tidy up the kitchen as she eats.
“I hate this room,” Diego says.
“Oh, it got me high enough. I picked it clean of anything of value after Daddy kicked the bucket.
That's it, tighter and higher. Ooh. Ouf! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.”
“Fine.”
“Ooh! Aah! - Aah!”
“If I see a boner, I'm out,” Diego tells him. “End of the world and you wanna get sober all of a sudden. Don't get me wrong, man. Good by you. But I'd think you'd wanna pop every pill on the planet.”
“Oh, the thought did cross my mind, believe me,” Klaus admits, “but there's something I need to do, and the whole pesky thing doesn't seem to work unless I'm sober.”
“Is this is about conjuring the one you lost? What was her name?”
“His name was Dave,” Klaus says. “We soldiered together in the A Shau Valley in the Mountain of the Crouching Beast.”
“Well, Dave must have been a very special person to put up with your weird-ass shit.”
“Yeah,” Klaus agrees. “Yeah, he was He was kind, and strong, and vulnerable, and beautiful.
Beautiful. And I was foolish enough to follow him all the way to the front line.”
“You fought in the shit?” Diego is a bit shocked.
“Oh yeah, baby.”
“How'd they let you do that?”
“Let me? War couldn't take enough bodies. Please. Including his.”
“Hey, look at us,” Klaus says. “Loggin' in some quality bro time before the end of the world.”
“Yeah, might as well.” Diego admits. “Everyone I like is already dead.”
“Ah, yes. The lady cop.”
“Yeah.”
“Mom, too. I let them both down. So here I am. Alone with you.” Diego pats Klaus’ shoulder.
“You still have Sunshine. Doesn’t Y/N count?” Diego doesn’t answer. He just turns to leave.
“Ah, shit!” Klaus curses.
“What?” turns around to ask.
“I need to pee.”
Y/N changes course on her way to her room when she hears voices in what is usually just a quiet storage area of the house.
“You know, no, I,” She hears Klaus say. “I think I think this was Whoa. Wait.” She hears when she is closer to the door. “I think this was a bad idea.”
“What is-” she asks herself but stops.
“I just I should have had just one last hit to ease me into it. That's all I need.”
She sighs.
“No, no, no.”
“I'll be right back,” Klaus says.
“I don't think so,” she hears Diego say.
“That's not how it works, Diego.”
“Nope,” Diego's tone confident. “Sit down.”
“Diego, listen,” she hears Klaus beg. “Just listen.”
“Sit.”
“Just listen.”
She moves closers when she hears Klaus coughing and groaning.
“Sit your ass down. Sit down. Sit down.”
“Nope.”
“Stop it!”
“Nope!”
“Get off!”
“Get…Get off! Get off!”
She couldn’t stand it anymore, she rushes in. “What the fuck?!” She stares in shock at the scene before her. Diego is tying Klaus to a chair.
“Sunshine!” Klaus shouts. But Diego doesn’t stop. “Damn it, Diego! - Damn it! Stop it!” Klaus puts up a fight. She goes to stop him.
“STAY PUT!” Diego shouts at Klaus. She slaps Diego across the face the moment he turns to her so he can explain. Both Diego and Klaus freeze, stunned by what just happened.
“EXPLAIN NOW!” she demands.
“He asked me to!” Diego shouts as Klaus goes to get up. Diego moves to stop him.
“STOP!” She shouts. “Just…stop.”
“Tell her,” Diego demands of Klaus.
“Sunshine, I-” Klaus starts. He eyes the angry red tint of the Wisp.
“The truth,” Diego instructs. When Klaus doesn’t say anything, she looks at Diego.
“He asked me to tie him up so he could sober up and would be able to summon the guy he lost.”
“And he changed his mind?” she asks.
“I’m right here,” Klaus grumbles.
“He’s an addict, of course he’s going to fight it, he-”
She held her hand up to stop him. “Okay, just…” she weighs her options. None of them seem anything short of painful or distressing. “And you both agree this is the only way?”
“He said it was," Diego explains. "And he agreed the first time I tied him up. Then he had to pee.” She sighs and rubs at her temples. If Klaus had admitted that this is how it needs to be. It might be true. She knows how he is with these things. She gets why he asked Diego. He knew she wouldn't have done it. She caves too easily when Klaus begs. She just hates to see her siblings suffer.
“Okay,” she relents and waves at Diego. When it’s clear she might actually let Diego finish, Klaus starts begging again.
"Seriously?" Klaus stares at her. "Come on, Sunshine, please."
"If you told him this was the only way," she says. Diego takes it as the go-ahead to keep tying Klaus up.
"Don't you love me?" Klaus tries, his eyes on her.
"Of course, but if I-" she starts, but Diego isn't having it.
"Don't put this on her," Diego scolds. "You asked for this. She offered you a nap and probably cuddles like when you were kids. You said no. You said it has to be this. We already went over this."
“Listen, listen. Listen to me. Listen to me. I can conjure her for you,” Klaus tells him. His sister gapes in shock. “Patch! I can-”
“Don't use her name like that, okay?” Diego half snaps. She looks between them, unsure if she should step in and just end this entire situation.
“Sunshine, please,” Klaus looks up at her.
“Diego, maybe-” she starts.
“We all know he can't conjure shit until clean,” Diego says to her before turning back to Klaus. “I don't wanna see her until I can tell her that I buried the bastards that killed her.”
“Please. Please, Y/N, Diego. Please. Please.” Every alarm is going off in her head to help him.
“Trust me, Luz, this is probably the safest way to do this. He can't hurt himself this way,” Diego tries to assure her before again turning to Klaus and holding up a bucket. “This is for next time. Puke, pee, whatever you need. Multipurpose. See?”
“Diego…” she starts, but he stands up and grabs her wrist, and tugs her towards the door.
“He’ll thank us later.”
“Y/N! Diego! Guys, please come back! Diego! You prick!”
Diego doesn’t let her go until they can’t hear Klaus shouting anymore.
"Luz," he starts as he sees her looking back the way they came. "You have to trust me. Trust him."
"Maybe I should use Wisp to-" she starts to walk back, but he cuts her off.
"To what? Make sure he stays in the chair while he begs and prods at your psyche. He will say anything in that state. You heard him. He already questioned if you loved him. And we all know you do. Because you have always looked after him. He will tear you down, and you'll end up hurting. And he'll sober up and then feel bad, I would hope. He'll apologize, and you will forgive him, but ultimately, you'll both be more broken and worse off than you started. Or you cave, he gets high, he still ends up hurting you, and none of us can do anything. So I'm going to stop you now because I don't want any of that. Not for you. Not for him. This is what he wants. To see Dave, to be able to use his powers for something other than the shit dad made him do. I know you are used to saving him, but if we survive all this, he needs to be able to do this all on his own." She looks back down the hall.
"But he-"
"Hey," he grabs her chin gently with his good hand and turns her to look at him. "This sucks for you after what happened. You thought you lost him. I know, but it'll be good for you too. You won't have to worry as much if he is sober and can handle things better."
"Okay," she agrees.
"Good," Diego pulls her into a one-armed hug.
"But are you okay?" She asks when they pull apart.
"What?" He looks at her. "He didn't make it easy to do one-handed but-"
"He brought up Patch, and earlier, you said-"
"I just want to find the assholes that killed her-"
"And shot both of us," she adds.
"Oh, I haven't forgotten," he grumbles. "And we don't have much time to do it."
"Want me to look for them?"
"Not yet, but if it comes to it, I'll let you know."
"Okay."
He makes sure she actually goes to her room before he heads downstairs to leave. He is shocked when he runs into Grace.
"How are you walking around?" Diego asks Grace.
"One foot in front of the other," she replies easily. "Why? How do you do it?"
"Mom, I - What's the last thing you remember?"
"Oh, let's see," she begins. "March 21st. Sunset was 7:33 p.m. Moon was waxing crescent. Dinner was Cornish hen, rice, carrots."
"Mom, that happened over a week ago," Diego tells her. "Do you remember anything else?"
"No. Not until I made breakfast earlier for Y/N," she admits before adding. “I suppose that's odd.”
“You made breakfast for Y/N?” He asks. His sister hadn’t mentioned it. Then again, she had been focused on Klaus when she found them. He can’t really blame her for not mentioning it. But it was odd.
"She looked so tired, but she was headed off to her room to rest when she finished. Is she not there now? I should check-”
“No, Mom, she’s there. I just left her there.”
“That’s good. She needs her rest,” Grace says before shifting the topic. “I wonder what the weather is like today. It would be nice to go to the park."
"Dad, never let you off the grounds," Diego tells her. Grace grips his good hand.
"Your father isn't here anymore," she says, hinting she knows more, but Diego doesn't notice, or if he does, he doesn't care.
"You can do whatever you want, Mom," he states.
“Unless you’d rather wait for your sister?” Grace offers.
“No, no…she needs her rest,” he nods. “Let’s go.”
He takes her for a walk in the park, where no one can hear them.
"Dad was wrong for keeping you locked up all those years. I should have said something. We all should have."
"There's something else that needs to be said, Diego. Pogo and I, we've been lying. Lying to all of you."
*Five resets everything, and it’s back to earlier in the day, 8:15 a.m.*
Diego keeps Y/N tucked into his side and ignores the odd looks he gets from their siblings. He really doesn't care.
"We all died fighting this thing the first time around." He feels her tense against him as Klaus reminds them. "Remember?"
"Klaus, shockingly, has a point," Diego says. "What gives us a win this time?"  He moves to block her from the violent swirling portal and pulls a knife to face any threat that comes through. Five drops out of the portal and onto the bar with a briefcase. Diego feels her grip tighten on his shirt.
"Je-Jesus!" Allison startles.
"You guys, am I still high," Klaus asks. "Or do you see him, too?"
"Five?" Y/N asks as she moves out from behind Diego. "What happened?"
"Five, where have you been?"
"Are you all right?"
"Who did this?
Five steals Allisons coffee after getting down off the bar.
"Irrelevant." Five says. "So, the apocalypse is in three days. The only chance we have to save our world is, well, us."
"The Umbrella Academy," Luther adds.
"Yeah, but with me,” Five states. “Obviously. So if y'all don't get your sideshow acts together and get over yourselves, we're screwed."
"Who cares if Dad messed us up? Are we gonna let that define us? No." Klaus shakes his head, seemly agreeing with what Five has said. Five continues. “And to give us a fighting chance to see next week, I've come back with a lead."
"I know who's responsible for the apocalypse,” he tells all of you. “This is who we have to stop."
"Harold Jenkins?” Allison reads.
“Who the hell is Harold Jenkins?" Diego asks.

So close to reaching my goal on Kindle Vella for the first time!
Only 9 reads away from my October goal of 100 reads between my two serials. Anyone wanna check out at least the first 3 episodes of one of them (for FREE) and help me reach my goal for the first time since I started in July? :)
Here is a snippet from the journal entry in Episode One- "Dear Diary" and I won't lie, I cried as I wrote it. This story (I'm writing) feels personal, and timely, on so many levels. -April Washington (writing as Octavia Ambrose and referencing the Kindle Vella Serial, Whispers: The United States of Christ)
"When I found this notebook yesterday, I thought about that diary for the first time in years. I can’t help but wonder what may have happened to it after my parents were killed. It was in a tote of my childhood possessions in their attic, and the militia group that killed them is known for scavenging after their raids now. They leave behind a couple of their lowest-ranked members and some of the stronger men from the camps.
The armed militia guards treat the men like slaves, forcing them to sort and salvage whatever they can while they themselves smoke or play cards and watch.
Did they find my diary? If they did, did they toss it immediately, or did the guards read it out loud as entertainment? All I can imagine is them laughing as they slap each other on the back, mocking the young “sinner” who wrote it.
That thought brings tears to my eyes. Maybe I’m silly. It’s just a diary. With one little secret. But it was mine! My secret to keep. My right to keep it or share it. Without fear.
When I wrote that diary my secret wasn’t illegal.
I guess it’s not the diary, but the reminder.
Once upon a time, I was free. To live and love without fear."

Tumblr media
I FINALLY caught up with all 4 episodes.
Tumblr media
Episode 1 - Nautical Twilight
I laughed hard when Kaldur said, " Always orders the hard stuff." & Wyynde Says, "Why bother with anything else, Wink" 😂
Tumblr media
I'm not a fan of jumping from story to story. But... I am interested. Violet trying to find of who they are.
I wanna know where this Conner story is going. I was hoping he'd stay dead for a while. Lol Did someone take his body like they did Superman & put it in “the regeneration matrix.”?
----
Episode 2 - Ebb Tide
My favorite episode so far. Just having all three stories was just too much. Although I hope we see more of halos story.
Saturn Girl and Chameleon Boy tried with Superman. But maybe it has to be Superboy? I also loved when Superman said Clark told him & Saturn Girl is like, “Um, Okay. Thank Clark for us?” Lol
The original ruler is back. I wanna see where this is going. Will he rule Atlantis? Will he fight his father? I can see them taking the story many different ways.
----
Episode 3 - Emergency Dive
Really liked this episode. Idk I just feel like it flowed better than the rest.
I can't wait to find out why they cloned Orim.
Something is definitely up with arion. Why did he hide? Is it really him? He has the powers.
I hope Kaldur & co find the crown. I hope nobody dies. If someone does... I have a feeling it might be La'gaan. But I hope not! He has a family!!!
Poor Gar... He's really struggling.
I don't see how Conner is going to get out of where he's at.
----
Episode 4 - Leviathan Wakes
King Mera! I love it.
I'm glad they didn't take the mantle of Aquaman from Kaldur. It's true... Many Flashes & Green Lanterns.
I wonder what the new Orim is going to do. Funny if he goes back to be evil. Lol
Great ending... But Vandal Savage is far from done. But Doctor Fate says, "A new story begins without Savage." We'll see.
I a few episodes ago they remember someone mentioning seeing Conner. Maybe with magic & Miss Martian working together... They'll save him.
Also, I wonder if Phantom Girl will wake up?
Oh, and Lex Luther! Wtf?!
-----
Over I enjoyed Kaldur story. I loved the magic! I wonder if they'll continue the Conner story or move onto another member story. I'm sure if they "move on" eventually comeback to it. They have to. Lol

Do you think Klaus will wanna go back to the void? Even without powers. It's gotta be tempting, knowing he could peace-out of hargreevestopia and do what he wants in the void instead. He called it his House ;_;
It would make for a good angsty low moment for him to think about it (and we all know how I feel about low angsty moments...) but ultimately I think that Klaus won't actually want to leave his family behind.
Klaus is a character that requires you to pay attention to his actions more than his words. He describes himself as useless and unreliable and selfish... but he doesn't really act that way. Or at least no more than any other character does. He may drag his feet and complain and make a big fuss about helping out but ultimately he always shows up when it's really important.
In season one, he follows Diego when he's confronting Hazel and Cha-Cha after not only being given a pass to sit this one out, but explicitly told not to get involved. He follows Diego into danger because he knows how big of a threat Hazel and Cha-Cha are and he doesn't want Diego to get hurt. He saves his life! And that's not to mention that he knows Hazel and Cha-Cha are dangerous because he was tortured for information for hours! During which he held out for a really long time on giving anything up because he's loyal to his family. He goes after Luther a few episodes later when he's shaking from withdrawal. He's the first to offer up his blood when Allison needs a transfusion. He gets Ray out of jail as soon as he finds out how important he is to Allison and then without missing a beat welcomes him into the family. He's the first to follow after Viktor in the iconic Hargreeves clown-car scene. He doesn't give up on sparrow Ben in season three even after everyone else has dismissed him. I mean really. He will swear up, down, and backwards that he doesn't care... but he just so clearly does.
The only thing you can believe Klaus about is that he's a liar.
And that's not even to mention that leaving for the void will now be permanent. Without his powers... he's not coming back. That would make it a significant decision if he were to choose to take that way out. While I can see potential in a story line about a genuinely suicidal Klaus (though maybe don't trust the writers to handle it with quite the level of tact it deserves cough cough) I don't know if we're going to get there. It just seems like it would take a LOT to get Klaus to a low point of that magnitude when everything that has happened up to this point hasn't been enough to have ever convinced him to stay dead before (and based on his conversation with Luther in the void it seems like that was actually a choice he could have made.)
Maybe if it involved Dave? But I just don't feel like we will get there. Klaus is at his core a hopeful person. He has to be to have gotten up and tried again after so many terrible experiences. His personality is brash but his nature is gentle. He's so much more resilient than anyone gives him credit for, not even himself. Something really big would have to happen to get him to a place where he would want to be permanently dead.
(Obviously mental health is complicated. My point isn't that there is a personality type that "couldn't" commit suicide because that's over simplifying a very complex issue. All I mean is that if Klaus hasn't been suicidal enough to kill himself before after everything he's been through... I just don't know if anything could get him to that point. I mean, what trauma hasn't this poor dude experienced????)
Now, I could see him sacrificing himself. He does have low enough self worth that he would toss himself away for the sake of others fairly easy (and then that would be the moment his powers come back after we've all had a beat to get super sad) but I don't see him just deciding to kill himself. Or at least I don't see him killing himself just because he wants to go to the void.
I'm personally hoping for an approach that explores how Klaus' new-found mortality impacts his already unique relationship with death. I think it's pretty obvious that the powers are going to come back at some point in season four because that's how these things go, so I think a Klaus that has had time to do some deep soul searching about the fleeting nature of life will approach his powers differently. I appreciated his power-up in season three but I think we can push him further with some unity of mind/body/soul/powers shit. It'd be fun!
