i napped the entire day away and my dreams included, but were not limited to: big earthquake that, as it was happening, i was like "oh this is a bad one" and my stepdad went "its not that bad" - our house slid down a ravine into water / very vivid evening apocalypse that - after the blast hit and i died - swirled into sleep paralysis that occurred While I Was Dreaming (and i do mean swirled. i got whipped around like an inflatable tube man) / rich people sitcom where everyone was unbearable but i had my dear cat Letti with me / sound-based monster shaped like my mom that i kept from killing me via a funny joke (i didnt even get to finish my microwaved macaroni smh)

Do you have some nice burger recipes please ?
Unfortunately, I do not have a grill so when it comes to burgers I'm hamstrung---they just don't taste the same when baked or pan-fried. After multiple attempts at using fancy toppings to try and hide this fact, I have given up.
I do have a solid recipe for turkey burgers though! You can sear them in a pan and then bake, and they don't seem to lose too much in terms of juicy umami flavor. This recipe from the NYT, featuring grated onion and Worcestershire sauce, is my go-to; I usually throw in some parsley, cumin, and even garlic powder or paprika to give it more flavor. Sear on the stovetop, then transfer to a lined and rimmed baking sheet in the oven.
(I'd also recommend using something slightly fattier than the leanest ground turkey available---I like an 85% if I'm going to make burgers with it.)
If you're specifically craving the taste of beef burgers, I'm a big fan of making "burger" filling and then stuffing it into dinner rolls (as a sort of Americanized bierock), empanadas, or egg rolls. This sort of filling is ludicrously easy---a pound of beef, browned together with a finely-chopped white onion; a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and then dill pickle relish, garlic powder, and salt to taste. You can even add in your favorite cheese and condiments before stuffing into the carb of your choice.
If after all this, you're still craving a burger, a real burger, and nothing else will do....
Ground chuck ideally, though you can do a 70-80% lean ground beef too. Packet of dry onion soup mix. Combine well, using your hands or a sturdy spoon; crack an egg over the mixture and continue to mix. Refrigerate for at least half an hour before shaping into patties. Pan-sear and then bake, or grill to desired doneness. Toppings to preference.
.....I know, I know, it seems way too simple. But it's hands-down the best burger you'll make in a home kitchen, so let the nice food scientists at Knorr be your guide.

What sort of tomato sauce? I also made tacos tonight and i made rice as a side but i added canned whole tomatos to see what would happen but i shouldve added them way earlier cause they didnt break down how i wanted :<
Anyways taco night solidarity forever 🌮🌮🌮
Tomato Sauce a la Work Day (made roughly a week or so ago)
olive oil,
herbs/spices(dried): garlic powder, onion, pepper, parsley, rosemary, thyme, chili flakes(lots), oregano, basil, fennel, Salt&pepper .no measurements just vibes.
a diced onion
a few cloves garlic
2 cans diced tomatoes, (or whole. Can't remember.)
1 can (small) tomato sauce
a splash (big) of red wine.(cabernet) (from the little plastic bottles)
Basically everything but tomato paste. Didn't add bc my can opener decided to retire. Sauce came out a lot thinner than I wanted it to. Still really nice tho.
(Tonight) I cooked up some ground beef with the above spice blend. but with way more fennel. It bulked up the sauce nicely! It came out gr8!
Served over whole wheat spaghetti. (Cancels pit red meat agskfkslkfldls)

I have to share my new favorite recipe because it is so easy to make and sometimes you need something that requires almost no effort.
Taco Rice
6ish servings depending on your personal nutritional needs
Core ingredients:
1.5 C uncooked rice
1 can petite diced tomatoes (get the ones with the green chiles for added kick) (DO NOT drain)
1 can whole kernel corn (drained)
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
3 C Broth of your choice (beef/chicken/vegetable)
2 packets taco seasoning (or just buy the giant container at Costco and dump it in with your heart)
2 C fine shred Mexican cheese blend
Add one of the following for more protein:
1 can pinto beans
OR
1 lb ground meat
OR
1 lb plant-based meat
Optional:
Additional seasonings for spice/heat
diced bell peppers
diced onion
Directions:
In a 4qt pot, sauté any fresh diced veggies until softened. Brown the meat/plant based meat if using. Remove any excess grease (I like the method of swirling a paper towel in the pan but drain it however you like, just don’t pour it in your sink, lol). Add beans, corn, rice and seasonings. Stir and let cook 1 minute. Add broth. Bring to a boil, then cover and let cook on medium for about 10 minutes. Uncover and stir, simmering for another few minutes until most of the liquid has been absorbed/evaporated. Divide into 6 (or however many servings this is for you) bowls or meal prep containers. Divide cheese among them sprinkling to cover the top. If using for meal prep, cover and place in the fridge, otherwise, enjoy!
