15 + Aspen (or any of them tbh) for the OC thing

15. What places hold significant meaning or memories for your OC? Do they have a positive or negative association with those places?

Ohhhh no you hit the ramble button. Ok so. To answer that requires a pinch of lore and some Aspen background, which I'll put under a readmore because ilu all:

- Kelpies have to fully submerge themselves in water every few days to survive, for roughly an hour. Any body of water will do, and it doesn't have to be an hour all on one go, but failure to do so is fatal (thats just an oc thing afaik there's no folklore like that? Anyway.)

- Kelpies also have a tense relationship with humans. Most kelpies won't prey on humans. Many of them find it immoral, and those that don't still find it not worth the trouble. Even so, a minority WILL, and both groups often clash over bodies of fresh water, so they regard each other as a threat.

Alright, that out of the way:

When Aspen was a kid (not sure how old yet, but preteen at the latest) she and her family lived in a modest lake near a human village. Both parties were wary of each other, but had a tense truce to just share the fresh water that was crucial for both group's survival, and otherwise avoid each other.

But then a child goes missing, and after a few days of panicked searching, they find the kid's remains in the lake and jump to blaming Aspen's folks. (They had nothing to do with it - the kid was just a tragic accident. Aspen even tried to look for the kid when they caught wind that they'd gone missing)

The villagers are too scared to confront a couple full-grown Kelpies and their foals on their home turf, so they beg their god to take care of the kelpies for them. He agrees in exchange for great praise and tribute. He dispatches the kelpies in a needlessly cruel way: He sprouts a mass of tree limbs and vines from beneath them, ensnaring them and hoisting them up just out of reach of the water. Aspen's parents and younger brother are left to wither away over the course of three days, the water they need to live just barely out of reach. Aspen only escaped the same fate because she wasn't around when the god attacked them - she was still out looking for the lost kid.

She can't do anything for them, and they beg her to run away before the villagers/god find her too.

AL OF THIS TO SAY she holds very intense, complicated emotions about her home. There's lots of precious memories of her family and childhood there, but it's overshadowed by the cruelty and grief.

She has very intensely negative feelings specifically about the old, gnarled tree that's found by the eastern side of the lake, the bark of which still traces the forms of bones and fangs and hooves, that villagers revere as a sign of justice and their god but Aspen knows is nothing but a sick display of cruelty and murder.

She's a very cheery girl.

For a happier note...mm...there's a mountain lake in Keres' territory she likes visiting. The environment itself is pretty different but it still makes her think of home and her family, and she can feel secure in the knowledge that Keres well maintains her territory and just about nothing dares intrude it.

Sometimes Keres will join her, and the two will talk a bit and stargaze

got a shit ton of 3ds games recently n am going thru the ones that interest me whenever i have time that isnt being used for taking the cat off the curtains. so far that has been Ever Oasis n Code of Princess n FE Fates. i like them :]

max: agent s, hazel, keaton, katt, bob!! quite a few but she’s definitely super picky. i think she hardcore judges villagers for being ugly but has also decided some “ugly” ones are so ugly they’re cute (hazel and katt) and they are her ride or die’s. she didn’t seek them out they sought Her and she vibes. definitely hits villagers she hates with a net and sends them hate mail even though that increases friendship with them lol. hates sheep villagers.

el: dotty, audie, pekoe, beardo, greta, scoot, tia, faith, dobie, papi!! obviously a full list but she went through and made sure she had one of each personality type and doubled up on her fave types (normal and peppy). she is def into aesthetics but also thinks some of them are funny!! like scoot with his hat and beardo (who reminds her of hop)

lucas: benjamin, lucky, daisy, butch, shep, cherry! truthfully i think he loves dogs and would have a whole dog island. the ones listed are his absolute faves and the other spots he kind of just rotates as necessary until he finds a personality combo that he likes!!

dustin: raymond, marshal, shino, sherb, zucker, merengue, julian, judy, roald, pietro!! sorry that he is the way he is. he sells villagers on the black market and then just puts them back in his town. it’s not my fault (it is).

2 me they all share a nintendo switch online family plan, so they all technically have hhd! i think mike, dustin, and el are the only ones who actually really play it tho. el tells will he would love it and will doesn’t listen but he might suddenly have another interest in acnh and specifically hhd starting in september 2023. who knows. (i know.)

do you have headcanons bout Daffy and Bugs in a relationship?

k, so ima just copy some of the ones i shared on insta (most of these hc I’ve already displayed in some form in my fics?? so I feel I'm just repeating myself lolol) and try and come up with more

Daffy is an extrovert. Bugs is a very social introvert (Think about it, a lot of classic shorts start with bugs comfortable at home. He’s very much a homebody) Of course, he wouldn’t let anyone know. He still loves to meet new people and mingle, do interviews and socialize with celebrities. He can talk and joke all night, and never once show that his social meter is completely drained–he IS an actor after all. But somehow, Daffy knows when Bugs is running on empty and needs to rest. He will drag him out of parties and sit his ass down so he can catch a breath.

They buy each other’s merch :’) Their favorite stuff is usually non-licensed stuff. Their sillier the knockoffs are, the better.

I love playing around with canon, so: Bugs’ was a copycat of Daffy’s personality because as a nobody-extra at the time, Daffy was his hero. Daffy found out and helped Bugs to stand out as his own tune–he quickly noticed Bugs’ unique snark and encouraged him to experiment with implementing that in physical comedy. The rest is history.

Bugs has a preference for carrot flavored foods, but isn’t particularly picky with his food otherwise. To say that Daffy is picky with his food is an understatement. His “refine pallet” demands only the finest. So, Bugs always has (organic, non gmo, grass fed, cage free, range free rent free you name it) Daffy’s favorite things stocked up in his pantry for when Daffy invites himself over to dinner. Which is every day.

Bugs thinks he’s the shit and can overcome anything (which I mean, it isn’t wrong to come to that conclusion). He gets bored easily. So what’s the next best challenge for him? Cheating death time and time again, of course. I guess on a subconscious level, whoever comes closest to beathing him or at least can match his level of insanity is worth his time. Plus, someone tryna kill him gives him the perfect opportunity to flex his wit at the expense of his adversaries. All this to say, Bugs sees Daffy tryna crush him under mallets or anvils as just, hangin out. Maybe flirting. Or maybe cause they’re cartoons and don’t express affection like humans do gjhjdg.

For bein the mascot and one of the most recognizable toons on the planet, Bugs sure lives humbly. and tbh, I think it’s cause 1) he’s a guy with few needs and 2) he just lets himself spend all sorts of money for Daffy. Accountants at WB are like “wtf why does he live so poorly” and its bc Bugs pays for all their vacations, Daffy’s aforementioned diet, etc. and the thing is, he’s totally unaware how gone is is for Daff to just. Buy him a car without a second thought. Porky tried to bring it up once, tho, to no avail. Poor porky.

Daffy and Bugs love to watch all sorts of old films together. Sometimes, they even watch their old shorts and tease each other on how badly they used to act. Buster Keaton nights are their favorites.

Bugs and Daffy loooveee gossiping about other toons+celebrities. They have dirt on practically everyone in the industry.

Bruce-  Kevin Conroy (SO many things, but most well known for DCAU) (he’s THE batman actor and its only fitting that he is bruce’s favorite.)(i made myself cry with the implications of this -specs)

Dick- Michael Keaton (Burtonverse) (Keaton reminds us of what bruce should be like around the time he gets dick, so watching the movies would make dick nostalgic for those days, even if Keaton didn’t have a Robin in those movies)(plus the lack of neck mobility would make dick laugh bc he’s been batman and had to wear the cowl before, even if he could turn his neck)

Babs- Diedrich Bader (Batman: the Brave and the Bold, Harley Quinn the Animated Series) (Its a really goofy interpretation of Batman and unlike some of the younger bats or bats who haven’t been around as long, who believe that Bruce was never that goofy, she has the videos. She knows, and gets no end of amusement from the fact that Bruce and Dick used to be that ridiculous)

Jason- David Masouz (Gotham) (Baby Bruce triggers Jason’s latent inherited adoption instincts and he's mad about it. The show also tackles all the weird shit Bruce gets up to, especially in response to grief, which we think is important for him to see)

Tim- Ben Affleck (DCEU) (Similar to Dick, Affleck is a Bruce that is familiar to Tim. This is a Bruce that still has hope for building a better world, but it’s also a Bruce that has lost so much and is in crisis)(plus hes a dilf -ketchup)(this one also makes me cry a bit if i think about it too long -ketchup)

Cass- Adam West (Batman (1966)) (She definitely has a bunch of reaction gif from this show that she sends all the time. It just sparks joy to imagine Bruce in such a whimsical version of Gotham)(it’s the slapstick -ketchup)

Steph- George Clooney (Batman & Robin) (Similar to Cass, Steph loves being a nuisance to Bruce about this. the goddamn batnipples, y'all 💀)

Duke- Will Arnett (The Lego Batman Movie, The Lego Movie 1&2) (He’s hijacked the speakers in the Batmobile to blast the Lego Batman tunes. Also, thinking about the time Duke confronted Bruce so he would stop hiding from the fact that he was Batman vs. Arnett's Batman having to realize that he isn't better off alone.)

Damian- Ethan Hawke (Batwheels) (He would never admit out loud to enjoying both batwheels and Ethan Hawke's Batman. That man is such a dad even in the cowl and Damian would love that)(we like batwheels, and are not afraid to admit it, unlike one small tiny feral child -specs)

Cullen- Val Kilmer (Batman Forever) (He’s gay. We're gay. Val Kilmer pretty)

Harper- Troy Baker (DC Lego movies) (It's Lego, enough said. He’s just a little guy! She loves watching the Shazam one and Family Matters back to back. (Her and Duke both bond and argue about their different Lego Batman’s in turn))(are we projecting? a little bit. the shazam lego movie is the best one, closely followed by family matters -ketchup)

Kate- Christian Bale (Nolanverse) (She likes Bale as an actor (she enjoys American Psycho), but doesnt like Nolan’s interpretation of Batman. He is, however, painfully straight, and that amuses her to no end. If she and Bruce patrol together, she will follow him around doing the Bale Batman voice)(fun fact! ketchups least favorite batman actor bc they dont like the nolan movies :D)

Alfred- Winston Duke (Batman: Unburied) (the one thing Alfred wants is for Bruce to be happy. thinking about the speech Bruce gives to his parents about the joy he has found in being Batman)(plus BU is a podcast so he can listen to it while gardening or doing other things)(legit tho, this is one of the ones that almost made us cry)

Terry- Robert Pattinson (The Batman (2022)) (It’s the flying squirrel suit for him. Terry also sees a lot of himself in Battinson, and it’s refreshing for Terry to see that Bruce wasn’t infallible as Batman. He didn’t have all the answers, and that was okay. Terry doesn’t need to be perfect to live up to Bruce’s example, because Bruce wasn’t perfect.)(sobs sobs sobs sobs sobs sobs sobs -ketchup)

Matt- Joe Walker (Holy Musical B@ man) (He quotes this musical religiously. He sings the songs on patrol to annoy Terry. He is just like me fr. He has also said the “aaaaaalfreeeeeeed! How could you do this to me? You got my hopes up so high and then you mugged and shot them in an alleyway” line in front of Bruce exactly once and then never did it again)

Jarro- Roger Craig Smith (Batman: Ninja) (Because Batman: Ninja is a fucked up little movie and Jarro is a fucked up little starfish -ketchup)(The plot to this movie sure is something)

Drake Winston- Jeffrey Wright (Batman: the Audio Adventures) (Good with kids. Honestly, seems like a halfway between B:TAS and Keaton, which feels fitting for Drake)(plus its a podcast that he can listen to while working in the shop or on patrol so yay! bonus!)

Carrie Kelley- Codot (Rogues! the Podcast) (given the everything about DKR universe, this one feels appropriate for her with Bruce being an asshole)

Jim Gordon- Ben McKenzie (Batman: Year One) (Batman: Year One really focuses in on building the relationship between the two. Also ketchup pulled a sneaky on me by selling me on this before I realized it was also the actor for Gotham Jim and this is now hilarious -specs)

Bette Kane- Jensen Ackles (Batman: The Long Halloween) (She watches Supernatural and thinks its funny. She actively makes supernatural references to Bruce. He pretends not to get them. The other bats get the jokes and find it so amusing)

Luke Fox- Rino Romano (The Batman (2004)) (It just feels right. Hes a serious batman but he has kids. Also he has claws and Luke thinks that Bruce should implement those in his own suit with how often he has had to listen to Alfred and Lucius complain about Bruce damaging himself or property while falling off of buildings that he couldn’t get a good enough grip on)

Hal Jordan- Jason O’Mara (DCAMU) (He’s a more serious Batman, he’s such a dad, but also he’s a little shit and Hal loves that about him. (are we pushing our superbatlantern agenda? Yeah a little bit. Fight us -ketchup)

Clark Kent- Bruce Greenwood (Young Justice, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: Death in the Family) (This is a Batman, a Bruce, who has lost his son, and Clark wanted so badly to be there for Bruce at that point, but Bruce pushed him away and Clark was forced to watch from the outside as his best friend was self destructing. It’s a little hard for him to watch at times, but this is a man who would stand up to Clark and tell him what he was doing wrong, and be there to support him if he truly needed it, even if it wasn’t in the most gentle way. Also most notably, it is these two versions of Bruce that get dessert at Bibbo’s Diner with Clark. (i will push my dessert at bibbos agenda until i die -ketchup)

Hi. Just read the new chapter and it was absolutely amazing. KSFM got me into reading some of ur other fic and a name I keep seeing is Sandy..one of James's ex gfs. Im really curious to know about her. I know shes irrevalant to the story and is just brought up mostly as a talking point but she just makes me curious😋. I love this question!! That's very observant of you! Fair warning that this answer is probably going to be very long because I love talking about OCs😅

So for backstory, I had the idea a while ago that I wanted to write my own take on a multi book series about the Marauders and Lily's time at Hogwarts. (Which still might happen eventually, but not until I've done way more planning) So I made a spreadsheet with lists of the students in all four houses every year that the Marauders were at school, so I'd have a database of sorts when writing. (I had a lot of free time on my hands during covid lockdown lmao)

Sandra "Sandy" Keaton is one of the characters I drew from that database, and I have used that name in passing now twice!

She is one of the other Gryffindors in the Marauders' year, which means she shares a dormitory with Lily for seven years, but I don't envision them ever being friends.

She is absolutely a gossipy type character, someone who would get along well with Bertha Jorkins, and in my head she looks kind of like Regina George. She's charismatic, outgoing, and opinionated (James has a bit of a type, let's say), and she gets written off by a lot of people as being "shallow" because of her stereotypically feminine interests (she loves dressing up, hair and makeup is always perfect, she devours every copy of Witch Weekly, and she loves a good romance novel.)

She has a bit of a vindictive streak, and possibly some mean girl tendencies, so she's frequently involved in some sort of drama. But she's not one-dimensional. She's a half-blood who's insecure about her place in the wizarding world, and she's been raised to seek out status as a means of survival. She seeks validation in the approval of others, which unfortunately leads her to make poor choices...like downplaying her intelligence to appeal to boys, and lashing out harshly at others who make her feel insecure.

She has a rich internal life that a lot of her classmates don't get to see. She cares very deeply about politics and worries about the war, though she tries to hide it. She's artistic and loves to draw, though she's not confident enough in it to share it with people. And she's got a huge soft spot for animals, especially her grumpy little cat. She has a little sister named Susie who she's fiercely defensive of. And she'll go to war with anyone who hurts her best friend, Zoe Boot.

She and James have a brief, ill-fated relationship. They never become close friends afterwards, but once they both mature a little, there's mutual respect.

Idk why but for grano I love the ‘fuck boy that turns soft boy/relationship type for that one girl’ trope like I guess kind of a garrett graham vibe where he’s just focused on hockey like maybe he saw you at a party your freshmen year and his junior year and when you walk past him while he’s talking to some of the other hockey boys he does a double take and their like joking with him like ‘uh oh granos found his girl for the night’ and when he comes up to you in the kitchen while you make yourself a drink and starts flirting with you and all you notice is his dimples and blue eyes (I think their blue lol) and when it gets late in the night your roommate pulls you away from him while you two were making out and she’s just like ‘we gotta go back to our dorm’ so you leave and then nick also leaves when he notices most of his teammates are gone so when he gets back to his house keaton is like ‘damn weren’t able to bring your little girlfriend of the night home’ ‘No her friend cockblocked us but I got her number tho’ ‘ohhh evolving from snapchat to actual phone numbers now’ and throughout the week keaton sees how happy grano looks when his phone keeps going off and he’s just like ‘dude you’re fucked’ ok this sounded better in my head lol

Curious as to what your final pairing for Revelations? Were there any you did for comedy/optimal stats but were surprised by a really good support?

i havent BEATEN rev yet i am getting close tho (ch20 rn) and i'm finishing off the last paralogue i actually want (cuz god i am no longer grinding relationships thanks)

my pairings so far are:

corrin/felicia (for obvious bias reasons. felicia is my og fe wife.)

camilla/keaton (this one is just to turn velouria into a beast) (what the fuck is this support chain honestly. camilla look at my bones. keaton i dont want to look at your bones. camilla what if i get lost in the woods. ok fine i'll look at your bones)

azura/laslow (was recommended this one and yeah it is cute! sol on shigure is also nice) (i really like this support chain it's great)

odin/nyx (picked this one cuz i thought it would be funny and i was RIGHT. odin is SEETHING that her backstory is so cool.) (i initially did this only to get ophelia because i wanted to get kana dark knight via supports but then it turned out THEY DONT HAVE SUPPORTS so now i just have ophelia. it's fine)

oboro/takumi (i think the insane soft spot takumi has for his retainers is adorable and also i just use both of them regularly it works) (the takumi polyship is real god help me) (I'm so sorry i benched hinata)

so i mainly pick bcuz i like the pairing or its funny and man the supports really sold me on laslow/azura in particular. "You shall be my inspiration!" "And you shall be my muse!" adorable. sickening. also funny that they both have insane backstory lore that they wont/cant tell anyone about. they both casually make mention of something utterly ridiculous ONCE and their kids fucking freak over the lore drop but then they move on and never talk abt it again

okay here are my combined takeaways from the director/producer commentary on robots (2005):

production designer william joyce was also a creative lead on rolie polie olie (started in 1998). so you may connect some stylistic similarities there lol

he and director chris wedge knew each other for quite a while before this and had been dreaming up this movie since, if I heard them correctly, they were teenagers?

the movie started from the setting, then characters and story were developed for it.

they took a Lot of pride in the setting, in figuring out how a world of metal people would function. artists would design Cool Things In The World and they would scramble to figure out where they could put it in the movie. they knew that including lots of background details would give the world life, and they were very happy to see it

if you don't remember the 3d animation scene in the early 2000s, you might not intuit that they were constantly amazed by what they were able to do. the technology was in a rapid stage of development, so there is physics and rendering in the complete movie that they simply could not have done at the start of production. these two were in constant awe of how good the movie looked

on that note, lighting was a big priority for them. they talked a lot about trying to find ways to texture and light metal so that it could look friendly, or so that the main characters would pop in a crowd.

the dominoes thing wasn't initially intentional. they were pretty late in production when they figured out that the way they would approach bigweld's reclusiveness would be Big Dominoes.

oh right, they were writing the story like As it was being animated. this was not a very linear production. the script was Not finished when they moved to the next steps.

they both liked to point out the Function of scenes. like "ok here's where we had to put in more exposition, here's where we had to introduce the stakes, this scene is important for letting the movie Breathe after all that action" etc etc. as part of that, they also liked to point out scenes that Didn't have a function, they were just extended gags or maybe at best helped to flesh out (hah) the world. they liked these scenes tho :) they took a lot of inspiration from buster keaton gags

there was originally a lot more stuff about cappy and from her pov :( her whole deal was that she was Also, like rodney, a small-town bot, but she upgraded herself in order to succeed in the industry. so that was like, her motivation to sympathy and to help the heroes. also that was the connection point between her and rodney from which they built their romance, which, was also, largely cut.

the voice actors never recorded together. at all. but would come back and do retakes when they heard the others' line reads.

they point out that robots is Almost a musical. which, yeah! it does feel like that! there are musical moments, or moments that feel like they Belong in a musical. but besides fender's singing in the oil song (which robin williams just. made. unprompted. bc of course he did) there's no actual singing.

bigweld has two designs, i never noticed! between the time the children's show was shot and the next time we see him, he got upgrades. apparently most other people didn't notice either so I'm glad I'm not alone lol

robots fun movie with a lot of love in it and these two seemed exceptionally proud of the result :)
