Just a Scene
So I made a prompt awhile ago about this, and this is the scene that just keeps rattling my brain. Enjoy?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world went white. The heroes nearby paused in their struggle to recover as they viewed the blankness that enveloped them. Aizawa looked around frantically while some of class 2-A started helping the others up.
“W-what happened?” Kaminari asked, lifting up Iida.
“The force from All for One and Mic-sensei was so powerful, it must have caused all this,” Yaoyorozu theorized.
Uraraka looked around, “This is so unsettling.”
“Eraserhead-sensei?” Midoriya called, worried for their sensei who looked like he was panicking.
“I don’t see any people, except the ones who were close by to us,” Endeavor observed, “Would Present Mic or All for One even be here?”
The underground hero turned to respond, when suddenly the white world flashed and changed to a jungle. Everyone made a startled noise as they took in their surroundings, and turned when they heard the small voice coming up on them.
“Ace! Luffy!” yelled the young voice, “Where did you go?”
A young blonde boy ran past them, hair cut close to the scalp. He had wide blue eyes and wore a blue suit coat and a black top hat with square goggles attached to it. The kid huffed, annoyed while looking around the trees. He kicked at a rock.
“They’re always getting lost…”
“Hey, kid,” Midoriya started, “Could you answer some questions for us?”
While he asked that, the kid turned quickly, falling into a fighting stance before relaxing. He drank in the sight of them in their hero costumes, turning excited.
“You’re heroes!” He pointed out, smiling widely, “You’re Endeavour, you’re Hawks, and you’re Eraserhead!” He pointed at the respective heroes before stopping at Aizawa, “You’re my favorite!”
“Yeah,” started Hawks, “We’re heroes. Do you mind telling us where we are? And who you are?”
The kid blinked up at them before answering, “This is Goa Island. It's where me and my brothers live. I’m Sabo!”
“Well, hello Sabo,” greets Midoriya, “I’m Deku! I bet you and your brothers have awesome quirks. Can you tell us about them?”
“Quirks?” Sabo looks uncomprehendingly to them, “Ace is made of fire...and Luffy is rubber. And me, I guess I don’t have a quirk.”
Midoriya looks stricken, “You-you don’t have one? Well, that’s ok, I guess your brother can protect you.”
Sabo looks at him disapprovingly, “I don’t need them to protect me! Sure Ace is older by a couple months, but Luffy is way younger than me! How can my baby brother protect me?”
“But if you’re quirkless, things are a lot more dangerous for you,” Sero said, “You’ve gotta be careful.”
“No I don’t!” Sabo’s face scrunched up, “Before quirks, everyone was quirkless! They had to do things as normal people!
“Even now, I don’t need my brothers to protect me! We all have our own dreams, and we can use our own powers to get there! Ace want to surpass his father, and be strong! Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates, and me- well I want to be free! I want to live my life with my brothers and everyone I love, free from everyone who doesn’t want us together.
And it doesn’t matter if I don’t have a quirk or power,” Sabo used this moment to put his hands on his waist, looking right at the group, “I don’t need a quirk to be strong, to fight for what I think is right! I don’t need one to be free! All I need is my bond with my brothers, and the strength I can get from training enough!”
The scene around them flashed and the forest was gone. Now, a wasteland surrounded the group, startling them as they took in the view.
“And even when I didn’t remember,” said an older voice, still young, “My dream didn’t change. I still wanted to be free, to fight for what’s right. I still wanted to do good for those who couldn't have it.”
Everyone quickly turned to look at an older Sabo. He was wearing the same style of clothes, but his hair was a bit longer, coming in blonde waves framing his face, eyes still wide. Except now, there’s a large burn scar on the left side of his face, over his eye, peeking from below his shirt. He more world weary, still smiling, but dimmer.
“I couldn’t remember who I was, or who I left behind, but I knew that I wanted the world free. Free from oppression, where those with power would enslave everyone. Free from judgement, where the sins of the father didn’t carry over to the child. I didn’t remember why, but that was important.
“And I didn’t need a quirk for it. I fought for my and my friends' right to live with power that I trained from nothing. A quirk is just a tool, something you add onto a power that was given. It doesn’t matter how you were born, where, or if you were born with power. Anyone could become strong.”
A flash again and the world changed, now a war-torn battleground, with walls stacked high and an execution stand in front of a building toting the word “MARINES”. Bloody swords and smoking guns lay on the ground, but no bodies.
“And even when I took power,” started the same voice, older, “I did so, not to be stronger, but as a reminder of what I lost.”
A taller, older Sabo stands before them now. His gaze is sad, but brighter, like what weighed down on him before was less than before.
“I only took my brother’s power because he wasn’t there, because by the time I remembered, it was too late.”
Flames erupted from his shoulder, and two figures appeared by his shoulders. They were blurred out, but a straw hat on the shorter figure and an orange cowboy hat on the taller were distinctive.
“My older brother died, leaving me and my baby brother behind. He wasn’t alive to watch Luffy live out his dream, but at least I could take on his will to carry with us to the end. And that power helped in my achievements, helped in our war for freedom. But it wasn’t something we needed.
“Because quirks are tools, and they’re just an ends to a means. Isn’t that what you taught me, my love?” Sabo looks at Eraserhead, smile soft and eyes full of love. Everyone freezes at that, and Aizawa looks ready to protest. Sabo stops it with his continued speech.
“I don’t need a quirk, or a power to live my dream. I don’t need it to protect my brother, or my friends, or the rest of my family. The bonds I made with them, the people that I love are so great, that I’ll never forget them. The bonds with my brothers that I felt when I didn’t remember are tremendous, that I wholeheartedly believe that I can find them again, no matter what lives we lead. Because bonds like these-”
The world flashes and it changes to UA, to the front of the school. But the heroes don’t notice. They’re attention is on Sabo, as he melts away and is replaced by Yamada Hizashi, the hero they were here to save, dressed in civilian gear. Yellow sweater and jeans, hair down and messy.
“They traverse time, Shouta!” Hizashi continues, smiling wide and eyes bright, “Lives, even dimensions! For the longest time, I thought this hole in my chest was because of some family I missed, even though they abandoned me when I was born. And that you and how much I love you was enough to fill the void. That our kids were too! But now I remember! I remember that what I was missing isn’t a family that abandoned me, but one that I made from a life before. And isn’t that amazing!”
Hizashi laughs as he gestures widely with his arms, “Imagine that, all this time and my heart was filled with love for my family, my friends, and my comrades. And I just didn’t remember. But now I do, and now that I’ve fought All for One with a power that technically shouldn’t exist right now, I’m going to need all hands on deck, so listen up, listeners!”
Silhouettes appear behind him, all shapes and sizes, indistinguishable to them, “I’ve used a lot of power, and went a little too hard. So I may be hurting right now. And because what I did was such a powerful shockwave, well I’m sure everyone else who’s like me is awake now too.”
Hizashi juts his hip out and rests his hand on it, pointing at the group, “I was a revolutionary, so I hung out with thieves, pirates, and thugs. They’re a little rough around the edges, so be on the lookout! Because this will attract the good, the bad, and the downright nasty. So buck up listeners!”
The voice hero grins at his husband, “We’re in for an adventure!”
The surroundings disappear and the heroes are back in a battle-torn city. They see other heroes, and civilians getting up, looking around to see if it’s safe to move. Aizawa jerks out of the group, “Zashi! Where are you!?”
That moves the rest of the group into action, racing to find their lost mentor and friend. They find All for One, dead under a crumbled building. A good 100 ft away, they find Aizawa clutching an injured Hizashi to him, calling for medics to come.
That was just the start.

The 42 Greatest Anime Moments of Monkey D. Luffy
May 5 is the birthday of One Piece's main character Monkey D. Luffy, and over the past couple of decades of his existence, he's given us some moments that will stay in our minds forever. And so I've decided to chronicle 42 of his best ones, antics that will hopefully remind you how much you love the free-spirited, determined, ridiculous Birthday Best Boy. One note, though — while this list does contain some of those sweet, sweet fight scenes, I've already written a list that ranked his 20 greatest knockouts against bad guys. So, in order to not repeat that list entirely, I've tried to mix it up a little bit.
  1. Luffy Wakes Up From A Great Nap
I can't think of a better anime debut for Monkey D. Luffy than "wakes up in the barrel that he miraculously survived a whirlpool in and immediately knocks out some pirates by accident." It's everything fun about the dude rolled into one.
2. Luffy Gets Coby To Hit Him
One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough about Luffy is his haphazard, yet skillful ingenuity. He knows that Koby will never get to join the Marines if he's associated with pirates, so Luffy, his one brain cell working overtime, gets Koby to punch him in order to prove that they're not friends because would friends brawl on the floor of a restaurant?
3. Luffy Gets The Straw Hat
Tumblr media
A moment from the first chapter of the manga that was delayed until Episode 4 of the anime, Luffy getting the straw hat from Shanks is iconic. It sets in motion his entire journey and creates a symbol that represents freedom, adventure, and destiny.
4. Luffy Gives Nami The Straw Hat
Tumblr media
Luffy giving Nami his straw hat is more than just a simple, comforting gesture. It's Luffy telling Nami that if she wants, she'll be a Straw Hat now and for the rest of her life. Nami may have problems, but she'll never have to deal with them alone ever again.
5. Luffy Gets His First Bounty
By gaining a bounty when he takes down Arlong, Luffy is introduced to the wider world of pirating, the World Government, and eventually the Grand Line. Though Buggy's reveal that he knew Shanks and Mihawk's appearance hinted at a wider world, this is Luffy's first real step into it.
  6. Luffy Smiles At Death
Tumblr media
Luffy obviously doesn't want to die. But as he smiles at the crowd and his crew while Buggy brings a sword down onto his neck, he grins. Because he didn't die in vain. He never became Pirate King and he never found the One Piece, but he did live his life exactly the way that he wanted to. And that's more important than any title or treasure. I'm glad he didn't die, though. They never would've found the Grand Line if Zoro had ascended to the role of Captain. They'd probably still be arguing in the Loguetown harbor.
7. Luffy Holds Up Hiriluk's Flag
Wapol wanted to destroy Hiriluk's flag and thus eliminate his legacy. But Luffy — smoking due to being recently shot by a cannon and holding up the flag — proved that's not something you can just do. As long as someone is there to fight for it, a flag is forever.
  8. Luffy Disagrees With Vivi
Vivi, frustrated, enraged, and embarrassed about the treatment of her country, was more than ready to sacrifice herself for it ... and only herself. But Luffy wasn't hearing it. If she was going down, they were all going down. It wasn't just Vivi's fight anymore. The Straw Hats had reached Ride or Die status.
  9. Luffy Beats Crocodile
Tumblr media
I did a list of Luffy's best knockouts so I'm not gonna list every major punch here. However, the ones that are especially meaningful deserve recognition. And this one, where, after two defeats, Luffy battered Crocodile up through the streets of Alubarna, is inarguably one of the most memorable. It's a triumph that's a long time coming, equal parts brutal and satisfying.
  10. Luffy Lets Himself Get Beat Up And Meets Blackbeard
Tumblr media
Mirroring Shanks' restraint when he let himself get harassed by the Mountain Bandits, here we see Luffy decide not to fight Bellamy and instead he listens to Bellamy's foolish proclamations about why dreams suck and why you shouldn't have them and why Mylo Xyloto is the best Coldplay album, probably. However, even if he didn't need the pick-me-up, Blackbeard meets him outside to reaffirm that dreams never die. It would be a super nice remark ... if anyone but Blackbeard was saying it.
  11. Luffy Is Immune To Enel
Tumblr media
Until this point, Enel is borderline unstoppable, able to strike down anyone in his path and — with the help of his "mantra" —  barely takes any damage in the process. And it's made him pretty cocky. But to see Enel's face distort in cartoonish disbelief when he realizes that Luffy is a Rubber Type Pokemon and that he's impervious to Electric Types is so joyously satisfying.
  12. Luffy Decides To Get Rid Of The Going Merry
With the Going Merry slowly becoming unusable and actually becoming a handicap to the crew, Luffy figures that it's time to find a new ship. It's a sad moment, but you can't help but see Luffy's side. A good pirate crew needs a good pirate ship. And if the Going Merry suddenly sinks, Luffy is dead. Like very, very dead.
  13. Luffy Faces Usopp
Tumblr media
Usopp relates to the Going Merry, fearing that its "weakness" and "inadequacy" represents his own. And so when Luffy decides to get rid of the ship, Usopp lashes out, causing Luffy to have to "put down" Usopp. It's a difficult decision, but it shows that Luffy isn't all laughs and "I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!" declarations.
14. Luffy Does Not Recognize Sogeking
And then, after the most heartfelt showdown in the series, Luffy doesn't even recognize Usopp's Sogeking disguise, despite the fact that he has most of Usopp's traits, most of Usopp's weapons, and showed up only a little while after Usopp left. Oh, Luffy. Never stop being you.
  15. Luffy Goes Second Gear
Power-ups are pretty common in anime. But Luffy saying that he needs to take his skills up another level so that he won't lose his friends still feels pretty special. And then the music kicks in and Luffy beats Blueno to a pulp and it's one of the most hype scenes in the entire series.
  16. Luffy Declares War On The World
Tumblr media
He'll always have a target on his back, he'll never be able to rest easy again, and the World Government will pursue him as long as he draws breath. Luffy knows this, but when the time comes to save Robin from CP9 in Enies Lobby, he doesn't hesitate to take on the whole world. It's just what friends do.
  17. Luffy Refuses To Fall
Tumblr media
When Luffy and Lucci fight, it isn't a quick contest. They go to absolute war on one another. And when Lucci thinks he's won, having left Luffy spitting up blood on the floor, we see that ... no. Luffy will not leave his feet. He has too much pride, too much grit, and too much determination. Defeat is not an option here. He will stop fighting to retrieve Robin when he's dead.
  18. Luffy Is Reunited With Garp
Tumblr media
For a long time, Luffy's actual flesh and blood family was a mystery. Shanks is kind of a cool uncle and Ace is someone that Luffy considers his brother, but where did Luffy, ya know, come from? As it turns out, his grandpa is the cannonball-throwing Marine Vice Admiral Garp, who is not only just as goofy as Luffy, but also really, really, really strong for being 76. What's his secret? Low carbs? Eiichiro Oda, please let me know.
  19. Luffy Punches The Celestial Dragon
Tumblr media
Luffy can't stand bullies or anyone that relishes the misery of others. So when a Celestial Dragon shoots Hatchan in the auctioneering house, Luffy walks right up to him and turns his face into a catcher's mitt.
  20. Luffy Loses His Crew
Luffy's darkest hour (so far) comes when, in a fight with Kuma, Kizaru and the Pacifistas, his whole crew eventually gets wiped out and spread across the world. All the while, Luffy is powerless to stop it — his Gum Gum skills no match for Kuma's abilities. It's a truly pitiable thing to see Luffy beat his fists on the ground in futility, something entirely unlike any scene in the series before.
  21. Luffy Covers Sandersonia
Back in Little Garden, Luffy agreed it wasn't necessary to actually have a reason for the fight between the giants. They were having an honorable contest between warriors. That was enough. Later when Sandersonia's scars were about to be revealed after a battle, Luffy covered them up. He had no interest in killing them or exposing their secrets. That is not what the battle was for. The contest was simply one that he wanted to win so he'd eventually get back to his crew.
  22. Luffy Decides To Save His Brother Before Reuniting With His Crew
When Luffy learns that Ace is to be put to death, he must make a choice: Get the gang back together or dive into the depths of Impel Down and try to rescue his brother. He ends up choosing the latter, which shows a great deal of trust and respect for his crewmates. He knows they're strong enough to be OK without him for now.
23. Luffy Embraces Mr. 2
This is just plain wholesome. Luffy's love for his friends is might be the best thing about him.
24.Luffy Falls From The Sky
Luffy's story isn't just about his quest to find the One Piece, but the formation of a legend. And when Luffy and the other Impel Down escapees plummet from the sky into the Marineford war, you can practically see that legend being written.
  25. Luffy Faces The Admirals
Yes, Luffy's attempts to kick a frozen log at them goes nowhere. And yes, Luffy is almost immediately knocked down by Kizaru when he tries to rush past him. But the guts in that kid! Facing down three of the most powerful men in the One Piece universe and demanding they give Ace back to him. That is moxie, my dudes.
  26. Luffy Goes Comatose
Ace is dead. The mission has failed. A brother is lost. And all Luffy can do is go numb and lifeless. He has no words or actions to explain or react. A chunk of his soul has been ripped away.
  27. Luffy Realizes He Still Has His Friends
Yes, his attempt to save Ace was a bust. But in the most hopeless of times, Jimbei asks him what he still has. And Luffy remembers he still has his friends — friends he has been there for in the past and who will most certainly be there for him later. They are still there. And because they are still there, Luffy's existence has worth.
  28. Luffy Gets An Upgrade
Reuniting with his crew in Sabaody, it doesn't take too long for Luffy to find a way to show off the results of two years of training. He's been doing some grinding, so his skill tree has some new branches. He's unlocked some new abilities, and he's reached his evolved form. When a Pacifista comes at the Monster Trio (Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji,) they beat the bear out of it.
29. Luffy Decides To Make Fish-Man Island His Territory
For the most part, Luffy doesn't really care about the dominance sought by other powerful characters. But after he's gotten to know the citizens of Fish-Man Island and he sees the terror caused by Big Mom, he tells her straight-up he's gonna defeat her and take Fish-Man Island under his protection. It's the closest that Luffy has ever gotten to being a character in Goodfellas.
  30. Luffy Allies With Law
And then, shortly after talking trash to Big Mom, Luffy teams up with Trafalgar Law in a plot to overthrow Kaido, another Emperor of the Sea. It's a real leap forward for Luffy. One day, you're just a kid from East Blue punching everyone that seems mean. The next, you're taking an active role in changing the power structure of the entire world. That's just how it is sometimes, though. As Logic once said, "Who can relate?"
  31. Luffy Has Been "Picking Fights All Along"
Luffy knows he doesn't just tumble from one situation to another. He isn't just a poor guy caught up in the gambits of powerful evil forces. No, Luffy has definitely chosen to live a life where he will interfere with your best-laid plans if he feels inclined to. And if that includes a lot of fighting, well, so be it.
  32. Luffy Reunites With Sabo
Tumblr media
It's been pretty much non-stop action since the beginning of the Post Time Skip era, and that hasn't really allowed for a ton of emotional moments for Luffy. But when he reunites with Sabo in the coliseum and his scream comes out as a mix of happiness, confusion, and surprise, he finally gets one. Cry it out, buddy. We love ya.
  33. Luffy And His Allies Head For Doflamingo
From orchestrating a breakout in Impel Down to creating a charge toward Doflamingo with all the allies he met in the tournament to win the Flame-Flame Fruit, Luffy has slowly gone from being the captain of a small crew on a ship with an animal head on the front to being the full-on leader of a Pirate Alliance. Luffy 2020 is what I say.
  34. Luffy Goes Fourth Gear
Tumblr media
Years after the reveal of Second and Third Gear, we get Fourth Gear, a power-up that even more freakishly transforms Luffy's body. It's not graceful, nor is it particularly beautiful to behold, but it gets the job done.
  35. Luffy Beats Doflamingo
Tumblr media
Doflamingo — a man that's been a thorn in the side of nearly everyone in the world for about 15 years of anime history — finally gets taken down. And still, it's only a stepping stone to Wano. Somehow, Eiichiro Oda creates these moments that seem like the biggest events in history, and yet, they're only just the beginning.
  36. Luffy Refuses To Fight Sanji
Luffy knows Sanji is conflicted and not really a bad guy. And he's also aware of the fact that he'll be creating an even bigger issue if he fights back against his chef. So he just takes the kicks, hoping Sanji sees there's another way out of this. Sadly, it'll be a few episodes before he realizes that.
  37. Luffy Waits For Sanji — And Then Punches — Sanji
Sanji finding Luffy because his captain's stomach is grumbling super loud is so cartoonish and lovely — because what is Sanji's role if not to feed his captain? Of course, Luffy enjoys Sanji's rain-soaked cookin' and then he punches Sanji for still being a twerp that won't admit what he really feels.
38. Luffy Clashes With Big Mom
Luffy stood beside Whitebeard, but this is his first real showdown with a Yonko. And it doesn't go very well. Big Mom is easily able to block him, which shows that, while Luffy has come a long way, he's still got a bit farther to go.
  39. Luffy Places The Hat On Katakuri
Tumblr media
Much like the previous covering of Sandersonia's shame, Luffy covers Katakuri's mouth with his hat after their duel. The two combatants fought and earned each other's respect. And so Luffy leaves Katakuri with his pride.
  40. Luffy Knows He's Arrived In Wano Due To The Swords
That giant baboon is using a sword? Obviously this must be Wano, the land of samurai. That's Luffy logic at its most pure.
  41. Luffy Promises Tama She Will Not Be Hungry Again
For the most part, heading to Wano seemed like a pretty impersonal act. The only reason he thought about going there in the first place was because Law seemed pretty confident it was a solid idea. But then he meets Tama and learns that she — along with most of the country — is starving. So his journey to take down Kaido gets some personal stakes. He's now shouldering the hopes of an entire group of people.
  42. Luffy Is Beaten By Kaido
Tumblr media
OK, so Round 1 didn't go so well. Luffy pummeled Kaido with everything he had and Kaido one-shotted him with a melee weapon attack. Luffy has to rethink his strategy and expand his move-set and maybe, with some luck, Round 2 will be a tad more even. I can't wait to see what Luffy moments we have in store when One Piece returns!
What is your favorite Luffy moment? Do any on this list stand out to you? Let me know in the comments!

There's a six-pack of cola perched on his desk. Under the cardboard holder, a note: I need to think of better gifts than cola. I know you gotta like more than that. I'll figure it out! I'll get something way cooler next time. But until then, thanks for taking care of us and Sunny. Happy Father's Day!' ( Franky
@bearxclaws // : ★ ★ ★
A languid scratch of the neck. Enough to soothe an itch; to wipe away a beading sweat. Overworking was terrible habit even with such a mighty endurance. Only ever was there a soreness along the curve of the spine. It was that which remained human, regardless of the work pursued elsewhere. Every day coming in to rest with a core fizzled out and smoking Franky felt exhaustion. The humanity had not left him no matter how many times he had tried, tried again and adopted new oddities. Still he was worn. Still what skin still a part of him aged. It was not only malfunctions and errant skips of circuitry. There was the heat that permeated his backside, the ache of back pain and weight bearing down on the heels. As familiar as it had all been it almost felt as though it was all forgotten beneath the tinkered scrapwork. What little pain could still be felt behind him and within his mind was one of the steady reminders he needed that he was still human .
Tumblr media
Sigh airy and flat as Franky pulls the shades off his face and wipes the fogged haze away from his vision. At times the lenses grew clouded when he was running on steam. Carbonation only lasted so long, even properly stored away in the compartment within his abdomen. Fingers clamp lazily onto the back of the lone chair in the room, pulling it back with a hasty flick of the wrist. Be it he might’ve collapsed completely into the chair in a slump was he not so concerned about the unconscious distribution of weight snapping a leg. Prideful though he could be regarding his own functionality and physical strength, there were times he underestimated just how heavy he could be with all that weight on his shoulders. It is not long after assuming the restful position that his head snaps back up after being cast back behind him in a slump. A beam of light from windows cast along a variety of plans and other peculiar tools scattered about settle also on the creases of a note. It is hidden just so, the condensation beginning to form on the glass wetting the holder and having dripped along the page. He scrambles to pull it away, another breath of relief that the ink of the note had long since dried and would not run. Undoubtedly the quality of such was well chosen. After the countless incidents involving the ruin of Nami’s maps to frivolous mishaps it was almost a necessity to have a better ink. A quick scan of the scrawl most would hardly consider legible. It was quirked with the nicks and tears of one learning to write. But there is growing improvement, so much so that Franky finds no issue in reading it as he would any other script. For a moment he almost questions who could’ve possibly written it, yet it goes without saying that the handwriting is Anita’s. A glance to the cola and back to the letter, the tense of emotions causing him to crunch the parchment unwittingly in his fingers. It is enough to crease the note further but it is far from unreadable. He struggles for a moment to straighten it back out in a mini panic. Not long after, however, he presses the plate of his forehead to the bulk of the note just in time to avoid making a wet mess of it .
❝ I love this kid, damn it! ❞ A personal admittance through the flowing waterworks clouding eye frames and seeping into the individual cracks between metallic teeth. Humanity. He feels it every time he cries that exaggerated cry. It only seems to worsen the unstoppable river. The restraint it takes not to further wrinkle the edges is beyond that of any god .
A creak as joints now filling with water move and he finds himself with a newfound energy without so much as opening one of his gifts. Quickly pulling from chair, finding a place for the note through blurred vision he wipes messily in an attempt to clear. It goes among the other ridiculous pieces and scribbles, the lot of which come from Luffy’s particular sense of creativity and various notes from crew members detailing their admiration for his work. It finds a fitting place among them, on top so that he might see it whenever he comes over to take a look on hard days. He returns quickly back to the table to clear the empty bottles from his abdomen, the clatter of glass echoing inside him as he replaces them with half his present. Within moments his hair pops loose and the steam of activity is rolling once again with a fervent crank of gears. A loud, resounding ❝ OWH!! ❞ to join the countless sounds of the room and he takes another cola to pop open and drink .
Anita gave him the energy to keep going. She gave him purpose ── a meaning ── just as everyone else on the crew had .
❝ I’m gonna give her a bear hug so superrr great it’ll put all her actual bear hugs to shame!! ❞ That’s his promise to himself, considering no one else seems to be around to hear it despite its volume. A quick trip to store what remained of his gift and then, surely, he would being his rambunctious, audible pursuit of the cub .
Nothing was going to stand in his way today .

One Piece Chapter 911 Review
Tumblr media
Enter the Land of the Samurai. Actually, it’s more like the tip of it as Luffy wonders around alone. His friends are nowhere to be found; just two large animals influenced by the Japanese culture fighting. It won’t be long until the arc steps into high gear. With plenty of promises in the last chapter for visual, this one left promising subplots and encounters. This is the beginning of a great adventure.
It’s a fun way to start a chapter with Luffy trying to remember what happened earlier while the two animals are in a duel. He couldn’t care less, but if they ram the ship, there will be a problem. How Strawhats got separated doesn’t remain a secret once Luffy remembers what happened. Sanji was gearing up for his own one-shot, Shokugeki no Sanji (Yes, it’s happening), so he was only rescuing Carrot and Nami. Fan service, here we come!
Poor Chopper; he was left behind with other guys, only because they’re heavy. I find it funny and ironic that realistically speaking, Chopper and Brooke will be very light to carry in compare (no offense). It’s Sanji though; we all know the story. Still, it is equivalent to saying, “I’ll save me!” Luffy was the one to save them with his inflated belly for them to bounce off. That’s a good captain.
Before Luffy got to do anything, that troll octopus grabbed him for whatever reason. Like a captain’s motto, Luffy was about to go down with the ship. Hilarious that Thousand Sunny’s face actually changes its expression to fear. It must be channeling Going Merry and thought, “I don’t want to die again!” So that’s the story of how Luffy and others made it out alive. It doesn’t tell us where the others landed at, so in the meantime, the adventure of Luffy in the beach continues. I love how Luffy reacted to his missing vivre card by the way. Recovered from sadness in a second. This is already fun.
A guy captured someone and going to punish that person by either selling or executing. Judging by the bag, I assumed it is a kid. It wasn’t addressed on what exactly did that kid say that made them capture her, but perhaps an offensive word or could be a secret that shall remain silence. Before they got to do anything, they find Luffy from afar and it turns out that Baboo is with them. That explains the sword.
It begins a reel show of Luffy being cool. I chuckled that they thought they have an easy shot to kill Luffy, but he’s like, “Please…” and punch him from far distance. Who needs a sniper when you can stretch your fist? That was clever to kick the reptilian-like creature’s head backward, causing the guy to shoot it and himself into smoke. Take down two enemies with one kick. Baboo was ordered to kill him, but once again, Luffy is like, “Please…” and uses Haki to scare it. That was pretty easy, a kid can do it. Actually, that’s what happens next; sort of.
A little girl named O-Tama knocks out a guy and surrenders herself to Luffy. I thought she meant she wants to be part of harem crew like the ones at Reverie. Seriously, are we skipping that? Anyway, I believe it’s the first time for Luffy to hang out with a kid on an adventure. I’m not including the Flim Gold special. She has a strange ability to stretch out her face and make a kibi-dango out of her cheek. Not going to lie, if I learn that’s how dumpling is made, I’ll probably lose my love.
She did it to feed Baboo, which at first rages, but then becomes very friendly. She has tamed the beast! That’s impressive; now she has two animals on her side. Oddly enough, the reason why the two were fighting was because Koma-Cchiyo (Lion-Dog) was protecting her and Baboo clashed with it. It makes sense to me.
She then explains that she was furious of how they were treating her, so she yelled that Kozuki Clan will return one day. It’s a taboo to mention the name, which also explains why they pinpoint her as a servant. It sounds like overly dramatic panic on their end though. Kozuki Clan is painted as evil; yeah, those Samurai back at Zou Island are definitely not welcome.
Amazing how that little girl has been helpful so far. Not only she has two strong beasts on her side, with one carrying a sword, but she also helped Luffy to put Thousand Sunny in a good hiding spot. Well worth being stranded at the beach. She lives with her master at the mountain, where it used to have many villagers but all have disappeared. I have a feeling it has something to do with Kaido. I laughed at Luffy’s rude comment towards her home. After everything she has done, you would think he’ll be polite about it. Luffy stays Luffy.
The scene with Tama treating him rice is pretty funny. He’s treated in a Japanese cultural fashion, the serving and all, but he wants second with glee. Too bad for him, because she only had one rice serving, so Luffy proceed to depressingly lied about not wanting anymore. I can’t stop laughing at his lies; he seriously look so disappointed. It’s nice of her to dream to become a Kunoichi, but it’s concerning when she declines to eat for the sake of diet. That’s never good news.
As she steps out of home, some guy barges in and ready to attack Luffy for invading and eating at his home. Clearly, this is her master. He doesn’t hide it with his appearance that screams that. He dressed similar to the culture, tengu mask and such, though the slipper’s incredibly high heel (correct me if I got the name wrong) is definitely a One Piece thing. It makes sense for him to react negatively, I mean who wouldn’t, but his reason is more than just intrusion.
Tama has been eating millets most of her time and when it comes to actual meal like rice, it only occurs on her birthday and New Year. Pretty much, only twice a year. That has to be brutal, let alone she’s a kid. It’s because she hasn’t gotten enough money to last. What’s bad is she’s trying to prevent starvation by drinking toxic water, which then passes her out. So much for fresh water. Kaido’s factories are the cause for contaminated water, so there’s your first hook to go against him.
The part that hooked me is that she was promised to take off to the sea by a pirate named Ace. I assume that they don’t get any news report outside of the country. With that said, it’s going to be tragic to hear that Ace is no longer with them and what’s worse is Luffy is the only one to break the news. That is going to be really difficult to do so. It will be interesting, sure, but I could imagine an emotional struggle to say it.
Before the chapter could end, another interesting hook is the search party was sent to see what happened at the beach. However, it’s that one member that got me intrigued because it’s none other than Basil Hawkins, a member of the Worst Generation. Instead of calling out for Kaido, he’s going to search the area himself. This could lead to encountering Luffy or maybe he will find the missing vivre card. Maybe he could bump into the other Strawhats group. We’ll see.
Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable chapter. Luffy and his great adventure has been entertaining so far. Tama is a nice helpful girl, though kind of disturbing to learn how she is trying to survive. It made it worse that she’s waiting for someone who is already gone, leaving her in a hopeless situation. The cliffhanger suggests many possibilities with Basil Hawkins around. Will this great adventure come to an early end? Next week, we will find out.

He also invited Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and Maki Otsuki, who sings the first and second ending theme songs of OP. Ha ha ha ha! She and Tanaka-san (Luffy) are riding the mini train. GUA! Who knew his house could be a playground. Kappei-san (Ussop) really had too much to drink that he’s all over Tanaka-san. He really must be a heavy drinker. Ha ha ha ha! Them and Nakai-san (Zoro) with Naka-san (Ms. Father’s Day are hugging a giraffe statue. Hmm… Could it mean that it’s Oda-sensei’s fave animal. Kirin? Where’s Kaku when you need him as a hugging pole? gin will be a member of blackbeard pirates and he will kill mihawk
Tumblr media
it  proves how strong Gin is, since Sanji and Luffy couldn’t do anything to get through his armor and Gin shatters it with one attack.  I’ve seen people saying that he’s ‘too weak’ to make it in the Grand Line, but considering this, and the fact that he’s had as much time as Sanji and Luffy to get stronger, I think he’d do okay.
people suggest that shilew will kill mihawk while having the diamond fruit(which mihawk  seemingly cant cut for his slash didnt cut jozu though its possible that it was because the slash was meant for whitebeard though I doubt it)  and this will mean zoro will be forced to learn how to cut diamond in the middle of the fight just like he did against mr.1 which is due to mr.1s comment asking what will you cut next diamond which is foreshadowing to zoro cutting diamond) because he's a swordsman like zoro but Shiliews admiration for Shiki's Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, expressed at Shiki's escape, so I think shilew will gain that DF. I think gin will gain the diamond fruit and kill mihawk since when mihaw first came into the story he had been stated to have destroyed plenty of don kriegs battleships killing alot of gins subordinates/friends who gin cares about. mihawk is themed after the vampire dracula I mean his surname is dracule a obvious reference and His overall appearance has a vampire type of theme. For example, the coffin-type of boat he rides on, the cross references, and the pale skin. Mihawks full name is Dracule mihawk and dracule is a variation of dracula and mihawk has various similarities to dracula in that dracula was stated to have hawk like facial features like mihawk, have dark gothic castles, and a cross theme in which crosses are around their appearances. Dracula is known to live off in distant castles, and as you have seen, Mihawk lives in a creepy distant castle himself. Dracula and Mihawk both drink red wine and red wine his mihawks favorite Read this next passage: Count Dracula (a first name is never given) is a centuries-old vampire, sorcerer, and Transylvanian nobleman, who claims to be a Székely descended from Attila the Hun. He inhabits a decaying castle in the Carpathian Mountains near the Borgo Pass. Unlike the vampires of Eastern European folklore, which are portrayed as repulsive, corpse-like creatures, Dracula exudes a veneer of aristocratic charm. In his conversations with Jonathan Harker, he reveals himself as deeply proud of his boyar heritage and nostalgic for the past times, which he admits have become only a memory of heroism, honor and valor in modern times. From this, I perceive Mihawk's boredom. He is nostalgia for the past times also, when he was still aiming to be the top swordsman. Mihawk is also shown to be aristocratic also, he's not outspoken or rude. He is very well mannered. so basically mihawk references or allusion to dracula ( I am not saying that mihawk is an actual vampire I am saying that mihawk is based off of him gin is japanese for silver and silver is one of the few things that can kill a vampire in their mythos ( supernatural monsters/demons are weak against silver. particularly werewolves and vampires which mihawk references )
www.gods-and-monsters . com/how-to-kill-a-vampire . html
Again, the curse of silver begins before the first vampire became a vampire, when the goddess Artemis (Greek mythology) cursed the first vampire so that his skin burned when it touched silver.   Using silver is a bit like a blend between sunlight and a wooden stake.  It doesn't work as well as either of those two options, but it has advantages of its own.  First of all, unlike sunlight, silver is highly portable.  You can carry an item of solid silver (make sure it's real, solid silver please) with you easily.  Secondly, it won't kill a vampire to stab it in the heart with silver (as it would using a wooden stake), but it will slow down the healing process, which can be very helpful.
, www . quora . com/Why-in-vampire-lore-are-vampires-burned-by-silver
In many (ie not all) cases of vampire lore, vampires are harmed/hindered by silver.
The reasons vary - in ancient Greek mythology the reason is because their first vampire was cursed by Artemis to be burnt by the touch of silver since he was stealing her silver bow at the time (he was already cursed by Apollo to be burnt by sunlight and had other inconveniences.
(further reading - Greek version:  The Vampire Origin - The Vampire Love Story That Started It All continued with Vampires and Silver )
Note that silver bullets are typically associated with werewolves and not vampires, however ... www. joshsanctum . com/stori...
Myth: Vampires aren't hurt by silver, only werewolves are.Reality: Pure, undiluted silver (or nearly so) WILL hurt vampires,  in much the same way as garlic. Both used together (as in bullets)  can even paralyze the vampire injured by them, and will (at the  very least) cause crippling pain.
Silver Has Mystic Powers - TV Tropes
Christian and several pre-Christian mythologies also have a connection between the sun, the divine (particularly those associated with the sun, light, purity), and silver objects. The problem with mirrors is partially silver related (mirrors were frequently made of/with silver)
- the Judas Iscariot betrayal incident with the silver coins is a factor - basically associative symbolism.
a summary of types of vampires and their reaction to silver
List of vampire traits in folklore and fiction  under the heading Weaknesses List of vampire traits in folklore and fiction
additional further reading Vampire folklore by region
 ,
Silver was considered a mystical element in folklore, and thus its properties become reality in fiction. The metal can do many things, from channel magic, to stopping evil (including warding off or harming vampires and werewolves),
Unlike in post-Medieval works, many pre-Christian pagan mythologies also associated it with the Sun, and many solar deities are described with silver objects (like Saule's silver thread, Apollo's silver bow and arrows or Amaterasu's silver mirror).
This trope is the reason vampires traditionally have no reflections and don't show up on film. Old-timey mirrors used silver backing to achieve reflection, and black and white film used silver nitrates to capture the image (plus some old camera models included mirrors in the light capture mechanism); since vampires are unholy, their light is not picked up by divine silver.
and its quite possible that when he returns he is using a spear  instead of his tonfa  so I think gin will gain the diamond fruit and kill mihawk(for mihawk is based off of a vampire and silver is one of the few things that can kill a vampire so it would be symbolic for a person named something that means silver to kill a person named after a vampire )
by stabbing him in the heart with a spear vampires are traditionally killed by a stake through the heart
and count dracula was based off vlad the impaler who liked killing people through impalement so it would be fitting for  mihawk to die impaled
and gin will be avenging his dead subordinates/friends.
in eastern there is a myth about how dragons first start of as snake like creature but then they will grow and shed the skin of a snake and become a dragon
In the sixteenth century of our era a Japanese author1 spoke of an old (certainly Chinese) tradition, according to which a dragon’s fetus lives during a thousand years in the sea, for a thousand years in the mountains and, after having been among men (“in a village”, says the text) for the same long period, it finally is born, becomes a dragon and ascends to the sky2. During these three thousand years the fetus lives as a very small snake within astone, the dragon’s egg, which is first lying at the bottom of the sea, then comes to the mountains (how it got there is not explained), where after a thousand years it is picked up by somebody who carries it home and preserves it on account of its beautiful colours, or uses it as an ink-stone (suzuri, 硯 ). As it invariably has the remarkable peculiarity of constantly producing water (the dragon’s element), it is a very convenient ink-stone indeed3. But woe him who possess such a stone at the end of the millennial period which the fetus must pass among mankind, for then the stone splits, and a small snake creeps out of it, which in a few moments becomes larger and larger, and with a terrible noise forces its way to the sky, smashing the roof amid thunder and lightning, and ascending in a dark cloud. The little reptile has become an enormous four-legged dragon, which leaves the narrow abodes of men and frees himself in this terrific way.”
japanesemythology . wordpress . com/stories-of-dragon-eggs-a-ka-dragon-inkstones-in-japan/
and this fits gin who will end up shedding the skin of a snake and get a dragon symbol becoming the dragon  tvtropes . org/pmwiki/pmwiki . php/Main/TheDragon) (as in right hand man) to blackbeard ( heck its possible  that if there is some secret to gaining a second devil fruit and that there is a way to alter the rest of the captains of BB pirates bodys so they can have a second devil fruit though  (as some people suggested ) they wont be able to have 3 DFs like  blackbeard ( and thats implied by his 3 motif and the fact that he has a 3 heads on his flag) and there being 3 types of DFs) that gin will have a dragon DF
and blackbeard could be described as the evil counterpart/reflecting the nagative aspects to roger  with his ruthlessness
given that blackbeard is the evil counterpart/foil to luffy
the best fit for the trope http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilCounterpart. In addition, the rest of his crew also shadow other members of Straw Hats. Just take a look at Teach's Black Hole stance—it's almost picture-perfect for Gear Second's stance, save for the open palm as opposed to closed fist. Now, contrast the black "smoke" of the Yami Yami no Mi to the white steam that comes off of Luffy. If this doesn't set off some parallel alarms, nothing's gonna. This becomes even more clear with the addition of Shiliew who, being a master swordsman, is a pretty obvious shadow of Zoro. Another similar trait is his own talent to get powerful pirates to join him. And at least in his original crew (if not necessarily his expanded one) Evil Is One Big, Happy Family. Also both Blackbeard and Luffy were recognized by Shanks as having great potential; he saves Luffy's life at the cost of his own arm, and he warns Whitebeard to not let the powerful Ace tangle with Blackbeard.
Tumblr media
“It’s interesting that, even though it’s not obvious right away that Blackbeard will be kind of the ultimate Big Bad, Oda immediately highlights the fact he and Luffy are exact opposites by making them have differing opinions on things as unassuming as food and drinks.”
it goes to show while they have similarities in their reactions to the other they simply have different tastes
and blackbeard pirates are the evil counterpart to the straw hats and how luffy has shown to be compared to roger it fits that he reflects gold roger in some way
Roger was someone who enjoyed doing things in the flashiest way possible. BB is the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and blackbear wears  hat, coat and waistband similar to roger

t I do have to respect that he values his crew and their safety and seems to care about them, because that’s not something that can be said for a lot of the antagonists in this series.

Teach takes comradeship with the crew he formed to a high level, made evident when he was willing to make a trade with the Marines for a battleship big enough to hold all of them comfortably for the sake of one crew member, Sanjuan Wolf.  he is also genuinely compassionate, caring, sympathetic and empathetic towards his crew's well-being and is willing to take assaults intended for his crew

and gin is the japanese word for silver

Tumblr media

and rogers vice commander was SILVERS rayleigh so it would fit for his right hand to reflect rogers right hand man and zoro . zoros goal is to become worlds best swordsman which means he will be mihawk gins goal will be to specifically kill mihawk in revenge while zoro said that he doesnt like to fight for revenge. gins name is the japanese word for silver so it similar to the name of silvers rayleigh  so his name would parallel rayleighs name like how  blackbeards name and appearance also parallel his former captain Whitebeard. and his personality traits above  are like an evil twist to rogers . like how he is luffys evil counterpart with gin being the vice admiral of the group
(maybe a confrontation between rayleigh and gin since I think rayleigh is mihawks father )
and gin will fight zoro due to gin killing mihawk and it was his goal to beat mihawk but if zoro defeats gin who killed mihawk he will achieve his goal anyway  by defeating the man mihawk lost to ( heck since we dont know gins last name maybe his last name is hellsing a reference to the dracula books and hellsing defeated dracule)  and sanji will fight shilew  for shilew was warden of impel down which is based on hell and sanji is based on satan .
