I saw @istadris recent post about Mario and Peach and their weapons of choice and while I 100% agree on it I want to offer another voice of weapon for Mario

A claymore

Or any really heavy esc sword. One that takes immense strength to wield. Wielding such a thing wouldnt be an issue for Mario as he’s used to using a hammer as his weapon of choice,the swords only exist as a backup weapon in case a situation can’t be solved via his hammer. A situation that might require some slicing, a thing a hammer and even his hands cannot do!

Mario could also use it defensively, using it to block certain attacks,or using it parry. The whole time he doesn’t break a sweat wielding it as if it’s light as air. He also uses it as a projectile but purely for shock, since most people wouldn’t expect such a heavy item to be able to go flying at them.

Peach absolutely loves watching Mario use it. To her it’s like watching a performance, it’s so fascinating to see such an ordinary man wield such an extraordinary thing! Which perfectly sums up Mario as an ordinary guy who’s capable of extraordinary things.

Mario feels the same way she does when he watches her use her sword.

Sorry if this ended up being a ramble, I really loved the original idea and I had to add on
