SO, cryptid batfam, originally human according to everyone. Perhaps even known to be human (even if falsely) before some sort of thing happened. Perhaps that something being when a certain robin died. Even if they cannot die. There’s so many rumors and whispers through Gotham about the bats. Some claim them to be demons, other angels, and yet more say they’re Gotham’s own children. Ones she’ll never let go and never let death take permanently. 

Everyone knows about limbs that the guardians make mimic capes, truly wings or fins or something else. They whisper of people who sacrificed their everything to Gotham, who died and couldn’t stay that way. That begged not Gods or Deities, but begged to Gotham Itself. 

Everyone knows the city is a vicious mistress, but she’s not always needlessly cruel. 

There are many tales of how the bats came to be, some spread more than others, so much that the true origin has long since been buried. Perhaps it is done purposely, pointed whispers from fanged teeth as white eyes watch quietly. Perhaps it was done accidentally, a simple joke taken as fact.

when this request came across my desk, it was like my mind had been infected by some extradimensional parasite. the phrase just kept permeating throughout my brain. i thought maybe the only way i could get it to go away was by solvin' the case, so that's what i would try...

as i walked down the street, i saw the neon glow of the Search Bar sign up ahead. but, it didn't read "the Search Bar" like it normally did. instead it echoed a haunting phrase that burned into my retinas, like my very perception of existence. the bright neon sign now read "I'm Concerned About The Blueberries." i needed to get to the bottom of this fast...

enterin' the bar, all was normal except for the smell. normally it would smell of alcohol and cigars, but today... blueberries. nothing but blueberries. even i was startin' to get concerned about them. i walked up to Google and quickly demanded for the tumblr post referencin' the phase. they slid me the post rather quickly, along with a napkin. on the napkin was a quickly scrawled note that read:

"Don't say anything. I've been seein' it too..."

terrified now, i grabbed the post and rushed through the streets of the city, tryin' to get back to my office. every sign throughout the city read the same thing now. every person wanderin' the streets repeated the phrase. they weren't walkin' anymore. they were all watchin' me, starin' at me. followin' me. every one of them chantin' as if inside my head, growin' louder and louder...

i do!!! i generally really love it here aside from some uh. quirks let's call them. but i'm in my 3rd year rn majoring in illustration with a seq arts minor, and one of the major reasons i applied to go here is bc nd stevenson was one of my biggest inspirations growing up!!
