mlp headcanons (a lot of which are human things)
Pinkie Pie: Black or Irish/Scottish with like- medium skin tone so either a really dark white person or a really light black person- idk. Hair is naturally that curly but she does bleach and dye it to be pink. Also she's like average height and probably a little chubby. Definitely has ADHD. Good at cosplay makeup and cosplay in general. She's probably panromantic and asexual, or maybe she's straight. Nobody really knows, she doesn't talk about romance that much, she could be aro for all we know.
Rarity: Pale paste white white. Probably a vampire. Naturally a very light like, platinum blonde but dyes her hair purple cos idk fashion??? She seems like the type to jog or something and watch what she eats- in a safe, healthy way- because she likes to, not because she feels she has to. Also has episodic depression, maybe seasonal. She might use exercise and healthy eating to help with the depression. Oh yeah also she's an absolute GODDESS at makeup. She's bisexual or a lesbian, I can't see this woman not liking other women idk why. She might ALSO be asexual. I can see her being an asexual lesbian.
Apple Jack: Uhh- idk what race, but she's definitely got rough, tanned skin cos she's in the sun ALL the time. Country farm girl doesn't really have a race- but she is blonde so she might be white? Maybe she's mixed? Idk- I don't really like her so I don't have a lot of headcanons for her. She's neurotypical and might be aroace (she just gives off aroace vibes). She's definitely above average height and muscular.
Fluttershy: Um- idk what race or ethnicity she is. She's definitely tall and thin. Her hair is naturally pink because fuck you I said so. She's vegan. She's surprisingly strong for her size. uhh... She might have anxiety or be autistic or both idk. No I will not explain my neurodivergent headcanons. She's Demisexual. Because I said so.
Rainbow Dash: Latina for sure. She's NOT a lesbian! Surprisingly. She's definitely either straight or bi. She likes men. Idk she just does. She seems like she'd be a cool ally, or bi- idk. She's below average height, and toned (definitely has a four or six pack). She eats a lot of meat and drinks a lot of smoothies. She definitely has ADHD and might have some level of anxiety but idk- maybe it's more that rejection sensitivity thing.
Twilight Sparkle: Not white- idk- She just... she isn't. Idk what she is but she's not white. She's adopted too- idk she just is. She's slightly above average height. And she's curvy. Don't ask, I'm just writing what feels right for these characters. She's definitely 1000% autistic. Tell me she isn't. I fucking dare you. She definitely has some form of anxiety as well- fuck she might have OCD- she's got something that causes anxiety. She's the least physically active of everyone in the group as well. And her hair is naturally straight and black. I said idk what race she is but she definitely has skin that's olive or darker. She's aromantic but I don't think she's asexual.

one of the things about being an educator is that you hear what parents want their kids to be able to do a lot. they want their kid to be an astronaut or a ballerina or a politician. they want them to get off that damn phone. be better about socializing. stop spending so much time indoors. learn to control their own temper. to just "fucking listen", which means to be obedient.
one of the things i learned in my pedagogy classes is that it's almost always easier to roleplay how you want someone to act. it's almost always easier to explain why a rule exists, rather than simply setting the rule and demanding adherence.
i want my kids to be kind. i want them to ask me what book they should read next, and i want to read that book with them so we can discuss it. i want my kid to be able to tell me hey that hurt my feelings without worrying i'll punish them. i want my kid to be proud of small things and come running up to me to tell me about them. i want them to say "nah, i get why this rule exists, but i get to hate it" and know that i don't need them to be grateful-for-the-roof-overhead while washing the dishes. i want them to teach me things. i want them to say - this isn't safe. i'm calling my mom and getting out of this. i want them to hear me apologize when i do fuck up; and i want them to want to come home.
the other day a parent was telling me she didn't understand why her kid "just got so angry." this woman had flown off the handle at me.
my dad - traditional catholic that he is - resents my sentiment of "gentle parenting". he says they'll grow up spoiled, horrible, pretentious. granola, he spits.
i am going to be kind to them. i am going to set the example, i think. and whatever they choose become in the meantime - i'm going to love them for it.
