Very, very fresh bison calf.
Months and months ago I promised y'all photos of the bison birth I was lucky enough to observe at the Cleveland Zoo last spring. As requested, they'll be under a cut, because unlike this lovely photo from the zoo announcement post, my photos are... goopy.
Tumblr media
His name is Tighee, a name which the zoo said is "the name of a Shoshone chief."
We walked up just as things started to get going, and the story is below the cut...
This is Blue, a female bison who arrived at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in fall of 2022 already pregnant. When we got to the habitat, there were a ton of people gathered around, and it wasn't quite clear what was going on.
Then we noticed her full udder and the extra pair of feet.
Tumblr media
She was dead-center in the (pretty large) habitat, which was nice - though there was a crowd, she had some good distance from everyone for most of it. The calf came pretty quickly, all things considered (something especially helpful when you're holding a heavy camera up on full manual zoom without a tripod). Because she was at a distance, my friend and I spent a bunch of time showing people near us photos on my camera screen so they could get a good view.
I was honestly really surprised at the number of people who asked why the zoo staff weren't in there with her, helping her give birth. So we explained to folk that zoo staff don't normally go in with bison on a normal day because they're so big and dangerous, and that during a birth (a time of potential stress for the whole herd, the rest of whom were off to the side of that habitat) it would be especially risky to do so. But you could see people in the zoo's uniform colors clustered around the fence, keeping a close eye on her.
And then there was a calf! For folk who haven't seen what a whole amniotic sac looks like, I'm including the next couple photos.
This one is still mid-birth, as you can see. The hooves come out first, with the calf's head laying parallel to them.
Tumblr media
Blue immediately moves to break the amniotic sac and clear the calf's airways of mucus. Om nom nom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have open eyes and an awake baby! The amniotic sac is full of fluid that helps protect the baby while it's in the uterus, which means once it's broken, the baby is goopy. One of mom's first jobs is to lick all of it away to dry the calf off.
Tumblr media
A first attempt at using legs!
Tumblr media
Nope, being born was too hard and legs don't work yet. Time to rest and recover from the effort of thinking about standing up.
Tumblr media
The first inquisitive member of the herd, another young female, comes to check out the newest addition.
Tumblr media
More attempts at legs! Getting better but still not coordinated enough yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're starting to help the baby stand up. In a non-captive setting it would be important for him to be able to walk pretty quickly after being born, and he has to stand up to be able to nurse!
Tumblr media
Everyone comes to check him out, now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have legs! They work! He hadn't quite figured out where to nurse from yet, though.
Tumblr media
And that's your bison birth for the day!

It's so good when Shen Qingqiu takes care of Luo Binghe. In canon and also in fics. I especially am in love with when he does his hair or helps him dress, it's just so pleasantly domestic. Also endearing whenever SQQ gets a bit fanboy-ish about it, because that's Luo Binghe and SQQ can dress him up in every cool or sexy outfit he has a face thick enough to pay someone to actually make!
I wonder if he ever shares this wisdom with Shang Qinghua. Like at some bitching session or other SQH is sighing a bit about how MBJ always wears like the same three outfits, and don't get him wrong they're all great outfits, but he noticed Luo Binghe flaunting yet another fresh look the other day and part of him really wants to see Mobei Jun in something different...
And then Shen Qingqiu is just like, you're the Lord of An Ding Peak, you handle the basic wardrobe necessities for an entire sect? Go pay someone to make cool/sexy outfits and literally put them on Mobei Jun yourself! You're married to the guy, aren't you?
Shang Qinghua is like "wait you can do that? I can do that? that's a thing that's allowed?" and Shen Qingqiu rolls his eyes and calls him a dumbass and points out that Airplane himself wrote about the intimacy of Luo Binghe's harem members dressing him and it being an even bigger deal for demons than humans, and Shang Qinghua cannot for the life of him remember this but it does sound sort of familiar. So off he goes to nervously sketch out some ideas for outfits, and then get told off by the seamstress he tries to commission for not having realistic ideas about how fabric works. But he does have Mobei Jun's measurements and after some discussion he gets a bunch of stuff that looks even better than his initial ideas, eventually, and then he just has to... give them to his king...
Shang Qinghua awkwardly presenting the topic to Mobei Jun like he's expecting to get a hard "no", but he blinks and his king is naked and standing expectantly in front of his fancy full-length mirror. Shang Qinghua has only ever helped Mobei Jun get dressed when he was injured in the past, and then usually only just putting his arms through some sleeves on an outer robe. They've undressed each other for sex, but putting the clothes on really is a different kind of intimacy. Especially an outfit that Shang Qinghua had specially made to suit Mobei Jun, to highlight the features he likes best about him. Striking blue and icy-white, with hints of An Ding's colors as accents, showing off his build to full effect, etc etc. Shang Qinghua layers each piece on and then does Mobei Jun's hair too, muttering quiet approval for how the look comes together while Mobei Jun preens under all the attention.
Of course, afterwards Mobei wants Shang Qinghua to dress him every day, which isn't always logistically feasible, and MBJ also intends to return the gesture.
Luo Binghe dresses Shen Qingqiu too of course, but Luo Binghe is aware both that other guys want his husband and also that Shen Qingqiu will refuse to go out in public if Binghe dresses him in anything revealing, even if he still lets him put it on, plus Luo Binghe was raised with human sensibilities about modesty. So all in all any "sexy" outfits are reserved for private time at home, and what he puts Shen Qingqiu in for daily wear is all stuff that is perfectly befitting a Qing Jing Peak Lord and scholar.
Mobei Jun doesn't have human modesty sensibilities and also doesn't see any reason why Qinghua shouldn't show off his own best assets while he's going about his day, so, Shang Qinghua is about to rue the hell out of a lot fashion-related world-building decisions he made a lifetime ago...

I JUST GOT BACK FROM SEEING DUNE PART 2 AND HOLY FUCK OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT HOLY FUUUUCK I NEED TO. I NEED TO. I NEED TO TALK SO BAD HOLY SHIT
below the cut because oh boy do i have a lot to say and i dont want my poor followers to suffer when i post this
oh my god okay okay where do i even start
opening with irulan's narration to mirror her notes in the openings of the chapters of the book. oh yeah baby. i ate that right up
watching paul get close with the fremen,,,,, fucking hell that hurts. dune really is a tragedy at the end of the day huh. they go from reluctant allies to friends but the whole time you know the switch will happen any moment now and they will be devotees and he will be messiah and that gap between them will never be as small as it is out in the sand. huddled in those tents. sharing drinks and laughs. im not doing ok
this especially hurts with chani. their love is so genuine and pure and she wears blue for him (which by the way sticks out so much more with how muted the colors of the rest of the movie are... i could talk about this all day) but she can see what he is becoming and he's trying to avoid it for her so hard but there's no avoiding fate. LORD ABOVE!!!!
i loveeee jessica being the manipulator thats pulling all the strings, urging paul towards becoming messiah. rebecca ferguson is such a talented actress she really understands the character so well. also as a hashtag certified alia atreides enjoyer her scheming with her unborn fetus might be the most unhinged thing ever but thats also so fucking funny aka its as dune as it gets. dune is WEIRD and im glad theyre not shying away from that. thank u denis
arrakis looks so much more beautiful in this movie like theres defo been some changes with how its framed and presented it feels so much grander and idk just ??? what it makes me think is that we're not seeing arrakis, we're finally seeing dune. we're seeing the land as the fremen see it as paul becomes one of them. i might be looking too much into it but who cares. god i love this movie
but yes more on the fremen in the first section of the movie. i like how there's this cluster of non-believers almost?? its a nice breath of fresh air. its hard to believe every single person would be just devoted to the prophecy and it adds some depth.
i will say the one thing i didnt like is the way stilgar is characterized?? i dont think he was so blindly devoted to paul in the books, and definitely not alia and leto ii after him as the atreides line went on. he's always been a source of small doubt towards paul but i think they're moving that element of him onto chani, so i think i can let it slide. i'd like to see him question alia more in the future though.
the scene where paul was named muad'dib and usul??? god it was so cute which made it so heart wrenching. all the fremen coming together and welcoming him into their lives. as a brother. as a friend. only for him to turn around and make them all bow before him. ohhhhh i cant do this
OH BOY THE WORMS THE WORMS AND THE WORM RIDING AND THE AHHHHHHHHH OH LORD
jesus christ. what the fuck. how is this allowed on cinema screens how is something so amazing allowed
the tension. the effects. the sound design. the sand rushing past the wind the worm moving forward paul struggling to hold on the fremen all watching and then cheering him on HOLY FUCKKKK HOLY FUCK I WAS HOLDING MY BREATH
all the worm riding scenes were so intense and so well done like. when i first read that stuff in the books i didnt think anything could ever capture how i imagined it exactly and yet. AND YET. DENIS!!!!!!!!
once more dune hits the idea of scale SO well everything is HUGE and they MAKE YOU FEEL IT. that shows especially with geidi prime but ill talk about that in a bit. but yes this applies to the worms too lord above them WORMSSSS ARE HUGEEEE AND I LOVE THEMMMM
rebecca ferguson put her heart and soul into that water of life scene and we all need to thank her for it
the way jessica is so quick to switch up and go all in on the prophecy. it makes me think of leto's "im not asking his mother, im asking the bene gesserit" like. the bene gesserit really come first for jessica and she takes her opportunity to fulfill her duties. to be the reverend mother. to rub it all in the faces of the other bene gesserit. she is the mother of the messiah and by god will she make everyone well aware of that
okay. okay okay. i think i said my peace on the early fremen stuff. i think. okay fuck okay SHIT fuck SHIT
FEYD FUCKING RAUTHA LADIES AND GENTLEMEN
oh my god okay. okay ill admit it. i doubted austin butler. i saw the cast list and i was unsure(tm). i saw him in the trailers and my faith was restored. and holy fucking shit did he DELIVER
stellan skarsgård's baron harkonnen is already such a threatening figure it feels like it would be impossible to make someone even more terrifying and yet. AND YET
just the way he's introduced. killing servants with zero remorse. LICKING THAT KNIFE THE WAY HE DID??? OKAY WHORE. I SEE YOU. GO RIGHT AHEAD. MAKE IT SLUTTY IN HOUSE HARKONNEN. I RESPECT IT
when the arena doors open and that loud ass fucking music BOOMS. makes the room fucking SHAKE. thats a PRESENCE right there. THATS how you introduce your antagonist.
the music playing as he fights being as fucking deranged as he is. chaotic and weird and unsettling. just. oh my god feyd had such a presence from the moment he showed up and he did not lose it for a single second. you could feel him LOOMING over the movie the whole time just as he looms over the whole book from his very first scene. oh my goddddd oh my godd
GEIDI PRIME. THE ARENA. THAT MASSIVE HARKONNEN PALACE. oh my god. once more. that sense of scale. the harkonnens love to flaunt their wealth so ofc they have huge fuck off arenas and castles where everything and everyone feels so SMALL in comparison.
dont even get me started on the black and white. the way it accents those coal black teeth and mouths. the way it makes everything look so much more inhuman and clinical and PERFECT because harkonnen power is so absolute and ruthless.
and the way the baron sits so so high above watching the fighting. literally impossible to picture his elevation above his people above the rest of the universe. the way feyd looks to him for approval after every movement. even as his uncle is trying to kill him they exchange those little looks and feyd knows hes getting his chance to show off while the baron gives him his "gift" what a fucked up family what the hell
speaking of fucked up family! wow! they are SO fucked up! there is something seriously strange being hinted at with feyd and the baron! feyd making his own brother bow and kiss his boot! those constant threats of death against rabban as if theyre nothing! this family is capital f FUCKED up. they hurt each other as much as they hurt everyone around them. theyre made of violence and blood and they could never show each other kindness because they dont know such a thing
what can i say about the feyd/margot scenes that hasnt been said already. like wow just unpack the boy's trauma like that. use him and then throw him to the wolves. once again the bene gesserit make it so clear this is THEIR empire and THEIR bloodlines and THEIR messiah. too bad jessica doesnt see that collective "ours" and instead settles for "mine" when it comes to the messiah
special shout out to dave bautista before i move on. just cause. his rabban doesnt get enough love. he really sells that balance of ruthless power but also incompetency compared to his brother so well. can you guys tell i REALLY like this cast
WE ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE GURNEY PLAYING THE BALISET WE FUCKING WIN Y'ALL
the paul/gurney reunion being the last shred of the old paul. how he gets so happy "i recognized your footsteps, old man" shoot me in the fucking brain stem it would HURT LESS
a bit off topic and it happened earlier (sorry my thoughts are so all over the place) but i like how they actually showed the process of how the water of life is made. it was actually exactly like how i imagined it when i read the books so thats neat !!
anyway. back to the horrors.
i already talked so much about feyd's presence so just another small note. that scene in sietch tabr. he is a MONSTER and i am EATING IT UP
i cant even begin to explain. how much it fucked me up. when paul took the water of life. i knew thats where we were going. i knew it was unavoidable. and yet still. when chani bent over him and screamed at everyone for making him follow this prophecy. when she was forced to shed tears to save his life. when she got him back only to realize she lost him and he wasnt the person she loved anymore. it broke me
chani's utter hatred for the prophecy and what paul is becoming added to it so much. i know some people are unhappy with how much shes been changed from the books but i think its elevated her character and all these scenes so much. and oh my god does zendaya DELIVER when the spotlight is on her. i never doubted her for a moment but all those changes to chani really allowed to let her shine. thats that euphoria acting coming out baby !!!!
SPEAKING OF GOOD ACTING
TIMOTHEE
FUCKING
CHALAMET
listen i hate the fact that he gets cast in everything these days as much as everyone but hes such a talented actor and i cant deny this anymore. the water of life scene really sold it for me.
he was such a perfect paul already in the first movie but this was the moment it really came out. the way he wakes up so calm and collected. lifeless. monotone. theres nothing theres literally nothing
paul atreides the boy who became duke far too young is dead usul who was the lover of chani is dead muad'dib the fedaykin fighter is dead only the kwisatz haderach remains and thats what the prophecy was always leading us to and yet the moment it happens its so haunting
like i cannot say this enough. that complete switch is so sudden but so subtle at the same time. its still paul technically but hes so different
what makes dune's weird concepts so easy to take in once you get into the book is all that internal monologue that really leads you through these complex concepts slowly. and yet in a few shots and a few lines of dialogue timothee chalamet somehow manages to express the idea of "i just learned the secrets of the fucking universe and im about to start a holy war" ???? HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THIS???? HOW ARE YOU THIS TALENTED???? OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! IT WAS A FEW LOOKS A FEW MOVENTS JUST THE RIGHT TONE OF VOICE AND THATS HIM!!! THATS HIM BABY!!!! THATS THE KWISATZ HADERACH AND THE UNIVERSE IS FUCKED !!!!!!!!!
also. anya taylor joy alia. we only had you for a split second but i cannot wait for you. im sure youre going to completely slay the third movie. give us our beloved tragic meow meow. alia is my fave character so i will be JUDGING HEAVILY. she better bring her a-game istg
when paul storms the war council and just completely takes control of the room so easily. thats the bene gesserit conditioning giving him his pedestal and he is making the most of it. he knows exactly what the fuck hes doing. and once more oh my goddddd all that shouting all that emotion and yet a complete lack of it. timothee spare a crumb of talent for the rest of us
also the way in that scene gurney is hesitant about it all until paul proclaims himself the duke of arrakis. and suddenly gurney has house atreides again and he doesnt care what chani does anymore. hes a follower to paul just as everyone else in that room. nothing changes. fuck me man i cant do this anymore
have i mentioned yet im so excited for chani in the next movie. her arc is so interesting. children of dune is defo not happening with the way chani has been set up so i doubt we'll see leto ii and ghanima but. lets hope we still get all the cool stuff wit alia at least. and maybe chani can be the one who leads the charge against her
okay i need to really fucking. get along with it im dragging this post on im so sorry this movie is eating my brain alive
chani still wearing blue during the final fight. im not saying more than that i might cry if i think about it too much
THAT. FINAL. FIGHT. OH MY GODDD OH MY GOD
IT ALL CAME TOGETHER SO SO WELL
THE WORMS
THE SENSE OF SCALE
THE FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY
THE MUSIC HOLY FUCK THE MUSIC HANS ZIMMER YOU OUTDO YOURSELF EVERY TIME
THE SOUND
EVERYTHING FLOWING TOGETHER SO WELL
the way the fremen fight for their messiah but still fly the atreides banner. the way paul leads them as their messiah and as a "fremen" but always proclaims himself duke of house atreides first. oh lorddd im unwell
every time paul menacingly emerged from fog/sand/smoke my life was extended by like 10 years thank u denis
gurney killing rabban with as much ease as he did cleared my skin and watered my crops <3
the way the baron was literally dying and still crawling towards the throne.......... the way at the same time feyd ignored him completely and looked towards the doors reveling in the fight ahead..... if that doesnt tell u everything you need to know about house harkonnen idk what will yall
i also love how no one intervenes as paul walks in and kills the baron. not even feyd. feyd looks like he was a little TOO into it as paul killed him tbh. feyd u little freak. austin butler you talented talented man. im unwell
i AM sad we didnt get to see baby alia stab him but ah well. we got a bunch of other weird dune shit so ill let this one slide. the psychic toddler may be too much even for denis and everything he did give us. we'll always have our 1984 alia <3
OHOHOHOHOHOHOH. OH. HERE WE GO
HERE WE GO YALL
THE SCENE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE READING THE BOOK
THE SCENE THEY SHOWED BITS OF IN THE TRAILER AND THE SCENE IVE BEEN NON STOP YEARNING FOR SINCE!!!
THE DUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh my god oh my god oh my goddddd where do i even start
okay so. the way theres no music. no fancy cuts no slow mo no over the top effects. its just the slashing of the blades and those BEAUTIFUL shadowed shots with the setting sun in the background. this really is the sun setting on the peaceful universe. just pain and suffering ahead marked with the blood spilled from the two who were meant to produce the messiah but who both got thrown off this path by the greed and selfishness of their forefathers. guys im normal about paul and feyd. definitely. i definitely have very normal thoughts about how they are foils and yet two sides of the same coin. yes guys
paul making the emperor kiss his ring is already such an insane fucking scene and it translated to the screen so well. amazing performances all around
i didnt talk much about florence pugh's irulan but she really didnt have much time to shine. im excited to see where she goes next and i definitely think shes a great fit but i need to see more of her to really be able to say more
i will say this. the way chani, irulan and jessica are the only ones who dont kneel for paul. the three most important women in his life who give him his power, everything he has. jessica made him and she made him the messiah. chani opened her life up to him, helped him become and in turn control the fremen, and she shed her tears for him and fulfilled her role in the prophecy against her wishes. irulan is his path to the throne, his key to being emperor. and none of them bow before him because why would they bow before a power they are responsible for, a power they own, a power they gave?
but for chani its different ofc. she also refuses to bow because she despises everything paul stands for.
oh my god i could say so much about the last scene being chani. not paul reveling in his victory. paul leaves for his next bloodshed and chani is left behind crying for the person she loves who she knows is gone. crying for her people, again enslaved. crying those same tears that brought the messiah back into this world.
theres a lot to be said about the role of gender in dune and how it hangs over every facet of this world but thats a whole separate analysis post to be had so ill just throw it down here in this little point
another thing chani does very well in the movies is she really makes paul's villainy explicitly clear. SO many people read dune and completely misunderstand it and walk away from it concluding its a "white savior narrative" and nothing more which. yes!! yes it is!!!! but thats not a good thing!!!! its never stated to be a good thing!!!!
this movie is not gonna let you misunderstand the message of the story no matter how blind you try to be to it. paul is not a good guy. hes never been the good guy. hes the protagonist, but hes not the hero. and chani allows that to translate from book to movie very well. have i mentioned yet i love movie chani
chani fills in the holes left behind by the narration and internal monologues of the book and, bonus points, she holds the people who dont understand what dune is about by the hand and tells them explicitly "PAUL IS A BAD GUY!!! DONT IDOLIZE PAUL!!!! DONT WALK AWAY FROM DUNE THINKING ITS PRAISING PAUL'S ACTIONS!!!"
i think thats pretty much all i had to say. i might reblog with additions as they hit me but yeah i. i enjoyed the movie. so so much. i think i might watch it again sometime soon while its still in cinemas.
sorry for being unhinged hope u enjoyed my rants. kiss kiss night night <3

Catch Me If You Can AU
Remember this? (Mob Bucky x single mom police officer reader) Which lead to a part 2 and a part 3? Here is a lil drabble for that AU. For context if you don’t feel like reading all three parts: Mob Bucky falls in love with the pretty police officer who has been on his ass for ages. Not to mention she has a son, 8 year old Jordan, who sees Bucky as a hero no less. After a little kidnapping, a little flirting and going full on protective mode when her shitty ex tries to come back around, Buck finally gets to call her his. She’s a little hesitant at first but she falls for his baby blues and sweet charm. Here’s what happens a little while after you’ve been together. So much emotional fluff.
-
“What is it J” Bucky curiously inspected the box that was placed onto his lap with a little bow tied on the top, wrapped up with carefully selected colorful paper. Jordan had spent the entire night shifting through different colors he thought Bucky would like and redoing the taping until it was perfect, hardly getting a wink of sleep, too excited for morning to come.
“Open it!” Jordan grinned, though his heart was beating erratically on the inside, holding his breath when Bucky picked up the box again. The mob boss had taken the month off for Jordan’s 10th birthday, insisting they would do whatever he wanted but your son insisted he just wanted to spend time together. Still, Bucky pulled out all the stops, leaving a mountain of gifts in Jordan's room from him alone. Breakfast was filled with pancakes, every topping imaginable, fresh croissants, pastries and milkshakes along with a very hungry Steve, Sam and Peter. You were all still seated at the table finishing up while Jordan looked at Bucky intently.
“Shouldn’t I be the one getting you presents” Bucky snorted while you watched him carefully unwrap the ribbon before gently taking the wrapping paper apart revealing a plain white cardboard box with an envelope taped onto the front.
“Should I read this or see what’s inside first?” Bucky asked curiously.
“Uh-You can read the letter first” Jordan peeked up, hoping to hide his anxiousness while Bucky took out the paper, unfolding a hand written letter.
Dear Dad,
I talked to mommy about this and this is what I want for my birthday. I thought it would wait till Christmas but I really wanted it now.
No pressure, you can always say no but I hope you’ll say yes.
Love,
Jordan
Bucky’s brows furrowed, looking at the documents inside the box, his entire world stopping as he read the words printed on the paper.
“J?”
Jordan shuffled on his feet nervously, afraid to meet Bucky’s eyes, only looking up when Bucky reached out to gently squeeze his hand.
“Are-are you sure?”
“I’m sure” Jordan whispered, missing the tears that streamed down Bucky’s face, pulling the little one into his chest, kissing the top of his head. “So you’ll sign it? You’ll adopt me?” Jordan looked up hopefully while Bucky let out a wet chuckle.
“Y’know you’re already mine, right? I want this but these are just papers. I love you no matter what” Bucky said firmly, meaning every word. You bit your lip to keep from sobbing seeing your two favorite boys attached at the hip while Bucky signed the document, still keeping a protective arm around Jordan. Jordan silently nodded, letting out a sniffle before squeezing Bucky tightly, feeling safer than ever. You giggled to yourself, seeing Bucky’s usual hard ass men discreetly wiping their eyes with Steve doing the worst job.
“G-get it together” Sam hissed, swallowing tightly, scrunching his nose in an attempt to keep from sniffling again while Steve rolled his eyes, no longer trying to hold back as the first whimper escaped. Then a full on sob. Peter hadn’t bothered trying to put up a front at all, loudly blowing his nose into a tissue.
“Mommy, look!” he took he sheet and held it up proudly for you all to see to see, while Bucky pulled you in, kissing you sweetly.
“Thank you” You whispered just for Bucky to hear, melting into his touch as he silently squeezed your hip.
“Best. Birthday. Ever” Jordan stated, clutching the paper to his chest while Bucky grinned proudly, deciding he’d have a conversation with his son soon about asking his mommy to marry him. “Just one more thing”
“What else do you want baby, daddy already got you everything and more” You ruffled Jordan’s hair, your son thinking for a moment before his eyes lit up.
“A brother” Jordan shrugged innocently while Bucky smirked, giving you a wink when no one was looking.
“Oh, he can make that happen right now” Sam cackled, already seeing the feral look on Bucky’s face while you shook your head, ignoring the way your stomach flipped at the thought.
“Really? Or a sister” Jordan smiled, just wanting a sibling to play with. “I’m okay with either”
“Jordan-”
“Shhh, let’s give our son what he wants” You were about to question his request when Bucky immediately hushed you, giving Steve a pointed look, his best friend nodding understandingly.
“Sooo how about we go on some roller coasters all day so we can give your mommy and daddy some time to get you that” Steve grinned while Sam wiggled his eyebrows a you both, your son already half way out of the dining room, off to get ready.
“That sounds like a great plan” Bucky let his hands slide down to your hips, pulling your body flush against his.
“You’re a menace” You bit back a shy smile while Bucky hugged you tightly from behind, seconds away from throwing you over his shoulder.
“M’your menace baby” He cooed, his heart still full over getting to officially call Jordan his, “C’mon, we can’t keep J waiting”
“You sure about this?” You asked, squeaking when he lifted you in his arms, taking you straight to bed as soon as they heard the front door shut, leaving the house completely empty.
“Very sure. Now come here, my son gets whatever he wants” Bucky practically pounced on you, making you giggle as he peppered you with kisses, throwing you on the bed. “Let’s make a baby, mama”

Chapter Warnings: (8k) no outbreak, grumpy!Joel, domestic shenanigans, Joel being naturally assertive, cooking dinner together, reading is good at encouraging Joel, one hot tub & two stubborn individuals, also...one bed trope incoming
Tumblr media
You wake up refreshed, like you’ve been born with a new reverence for life—alright, it might be a bit of an overstatement but it’s a wonder what a decent night of sleep could do and you’re feeling that this idea, playing house with a stranger—though it wasn’t much like that anymore—wasn’t the worst choice. And it reminds you of Joel, having left him in the chair last night, not wanting to burden him but you can only imagine the ache in his bones, his back, the discomfort of sleeping in a chair all night.
You lay for a moment, bleary eyes adjusting to the early morning light. The morning sunshine wasn’t strong here, blanketed out by a stark white snow that covered the ground, it muted out most colors and left a cool, but bright blue that shined through the window above your bed.
It was peaceful. No cars, no buzz of strong electricity outside your window, people and their idle conversation a few floors down from your apartment window. Not even a bird, really. But, there’s a distinct clearing of a throat from the living room that has you stirring in bed, rising lazily as you move with the same enthusiasm.
It was a fresh week. The first official week of your vacation and you were going to start it off on a good note, clambering out of the bed and slipping on a pair of fluffy slippers to keep your toes from freezing off, not bothering to glance in a mirror on the way out—not that you needed to, it didn’t matter. It was early, you were still trying to shed the sleep from your body and you could care less. Plus, it wasn’t like an old t-shirt and sleep shorts was some foreign concept.
When you peek around the corner, arms crossed tightly over your chest, you can spot Joel’s head tilting to one side, hand kneading at the taut muscle in the center of his back where his neck starts to begin and then you’re stuck watching as he stretches his arms out wide, working out all of those muscles. Every single one. And you’ve been silent for far too long.
Yeah.
Clearing your throat softly, you approach from behind and keep your distance, announcing your presence like you hadn’t been lingering for a minute or two already.
“Morning,” You greet politely, resting your weight against the edge of the island, taking in full view of a freshly awoken Joel, eyes still puffy from sleep.
He looks very…gentle. Surprisingly, so. It softens his rigid demeanor significantly and you have to silently talk yourself out of glaring at him for too long, “I didn’t want to wake you—I’m so sorry.”
Jeez—you two are getting good at that. Apologizing, afraid to step on each other’s toes.
“Not your fault,” Joel massages his bicep with the heavy pressure of his thumb, looking slightly pained as he rolls his shoulders, “I didn’t realize how tired I was.”
“Yeah, but I forced you to stay up, so—”
“You didn’t,” Joel quickly shuts you down, “I’m a grown man,” there’s a laugh hidden somewhere in there, but Joel continues, “don’t blame yourself for my own irresponsibility.”
It’s too early for this. You force on a fake smile, void of any real emotion at this hour, running on fumes and the smell of coffee. Speaking of—you sniff, eyes searching for the smell like a dog would track a scent, and Joel is already pointing in the direction you should be looking for when your eyes land on him.
“I already finished it off on my own,” Joel admits, pointedly taking another long sip before resting the mug back on the counter, “I can get another pot goin’ if you need it.”
There’s an inclination to let him, seeing him assert himself so easily and offer, but you shake your head, “I think I can handle a coffee maker,” You assure him, meandering around the kitchen in search of the coffee grounds, ignoring Joel’s tracking of your movements, waiting for a moment to interject and point you in the right direction. You spot them a moment before the urge comes with a soft aha!
“I needed to make a drive into town,” Joel tells you after you’ve gone through the steps of starting your own batch of coffee, “pick up some more food, figured you might wanna tag along.”
He’s not asking, only assuming. But to be fair, his assumption is right.
“Sure,” You reply cooly, pouring yourself a hefty cup of coffee to sip on, letting your body take hold of the caffeine, “...how far away is the closest town?”
“Hour and a half.” Joel answers and you almost have the nerve to go wide-eyed on him, but then you remember just how deep into the woods you both were and that it was necessary.
Truthfully, there was a more concerning matter at hand.
“How’s your music taste?”
Joel has the gall to look offended by the question.
“I’m leavin’ in thirty,” Joel ignores you, “don’t think I won’t hesitate to leave you here.”
Okay, noted: Joel wasn’t much the morning person you assumed he was.
-
Joel immediately realizes how little disregard you have for touching things that aren’t yours when you reach for the makeshift box of cassettes tapes placed in the backseat of his truck—the thing was old, riding on it’s last leg, but it was something Joel would cherish until it was unsalvageable, torn seats, dents, and all.
“Ain’t gonna find anything you like in there,” Joel assures you, “None of that pop stuff they’re always playin’ on the radio these days.”
The tables turn on him suddenly, seeing your face contort into a similar emotion that he gave you earlier. Bewilderment, shock, annoyance. You scoff at the comment.
“Says you,” You retort back, sifting through the different cassettes until you find Joel trading glances between you and the road in front of him, almost worried you might chuck his collection out of the passenger side window, “Joel, eyes on the road.”
Joel enjoys a lot of country, which isn’t a total disbelief. But, it wasn’t something you shared the sentiment on, flicking away a handful of country artists you’ve never listened to and reaching some of the good stuff—older rock music, some classic 80s, and late 90s.
You pluck one out carefully, prying open the cassette case with gentle hands before sliding the tape in, allowing the low hum of the music to fill the car. There’s a brief moment of respite before Joel smirks to himself, thumb tapping against the steering wheel.
“What were you saying?” You look at him pointedly, shifting slightly in your seat.
Joel looks away briefly, biting back a chuckle, “Fine—I’ll give you some credit. Foo Fighters aren’t terrible, but you skipped right over Bruce Springsteen, so…”
You scoff in disbelief, “You don’t get to criticize me with that atrocious collection of country music,” You stare down at the box in thought, eyes brimming with a mischievous that Joel knows of immediately, he’s seen it before. Not with you, but he knows, “you know, maybe I should just do you a favor and—”
You can barely get a hand on the window roller before Joel’s hand is gripped tight over the box, trapping your other hand in his grip as he warns, “I’m not above leavin’ you stranded in the cold.”
Your grin is nothing but evil and Joel finds that there’s something about you that infuriates him in a way that is hard to describe, not in anger or rage, but a level that he thinks he could match. A game of back and forth that he could play into—but you’re quickly relenting regardless of the threat and placing the box on the floorboard.
“Already tried that,” You retort, “didn’t work too well for you, did it?”
Fair is fair. Joel doesn’t poke the beast.
Instead, he takes the chance to ask a question.
“So, what exactly was your plan?” Joel asks curiously. “You comin’ out here with no car and all?”
You shrug nonchalantly, “Didn’t really have one, but I would have figured it out.”
Joel shakes his head dismissively, subtly resembling a face of disapproval.
“Hey, you don’t get to judge me, okay?” You don’t wait for a response, “You can have whatever assumptions you want about me, but don’t try and act like you know anything about me.”
It was another reminder. Joel didn’t know you, but you didn’t know him either. You reign your frustration in slightly, quick to defend yourself but aware that not everyone handles confrontation in the same way—if Joel was quick to anger, you didn’t want to stoke the fire.
“I’m not,” Joel argues, his voice calmer than you expect, thinking back to the saddled rage his voice held the night you arrived, the threat that lingered with every word, “I’m not, alright?”
“Then stop that.” You comment, waving your hand in a vague motion toward his face, “Stop looking at me like—”
“Like what?” Joel interjects, eyes more pensive as he looks over at you.
“Like—like I need a fucking lecture on life or my choices,” You tell him, a hint of pleading in your voice, “I’m not some kid who doesn’t understand how life works.”
“You’re not a kid—”
“Good, great that we established that,” You lean back in the seat more comfortably, arms crossed over your chest as you keep your eyes on the snow covered road, “now shut up so I can enjoy the music.”
Thankfully, Joel does just that.
-
Conversation falls flat until you arrive at the store in town a while later, Joel fetching a cart and pushing it your way before he stops you suddenly, hand over your own again—a touch that normally you would flinch away from, but he’s already done it once before and the thought doesn’t even cross your mind.
“I’ll catch up,” Joel tells you, “I forgot somethin’ in the car.”
You glance back briefly, knowing that the walk isn’t that far.
“Oh, I can wait. It’s fine.”
Joel doesn’t say so much, but the look in his eyes goes a long way. A silent plea for you to go with it and don’t ask questions—again, you didn’t have any right to. You nod quickly and wander off toward the store as Joel trails away.
It’s then when your phone starts to vibrate away in your pocket, the sudden availability of service sending a barrage of notifications your way—you’re terrified to take a glimpse, but you do anyway. It should be no surprise to bear witness to the many, many texts from your mother wondering where you’d run off to, but there’s a tinge of guilt settling in your stomach.
You send her a quick, dismissive text to explain that you were fine and enjoying your time, but no elaboration on the things she wanted to know, because really, there was nothing to tell. And if you did decide to expel the details of your trip, mentioning that there was no boyfriend and it was just a stranger you met in the middle of the woods, well…that wouldn’t go over smoothly.
You also find a quick, heated moment of frustration to send an unpleasant text to the owners of the cabin, still polite enough that it wouldn’t warrant your ability to work things out—and you decide that calling would reach them faster, that somehow they’d magically find a way to appear and fix things, but there’s no answer. Only a voicemail that gave vague details about being away on their own vacation.
Just your luck.
Great. You sigh deeply, shoving the phone away into your pocket and returning to the land of obliviousness as you step inside the small market.
You fend for yourself for a while, throwing several random necessities in the cart as you go, enough sustenance to spread over four weeks and manage meals the entire trip, also a few more bottles of alcohol don’t hurt, looking for a few hard liquors that catch your eye and adding them to the growing supply of items.
You’re lost in concentration of the ingredients on the back of a box dinner when Joel’s voice startles you back to the real world, eyes jumping up to look at him and he spots the panic immediately.
He nods slightly when you recognize him, “Sorry, keep forgettin’ how jumpy you are.”
“You’re just ridiculously fucking quiet,” You tell him, breathing out a long sigh as you toss the box into the cart, “everything alright?”
“Yeah,” Joel assures, doesn’t elaborate. Okay, cool. You weren’t going to pry, no matter how much your instincts told you to. He scans the cart casually, “Mind tradin’ off?”
You lend him the lead and follow, watching as he pointedly finds things, like he’s reading off a list in his head and moves around the store with a purpose. It’s only slightly annoying that you have to keep pace with him, but he’s suddenly speaking out to you as he’s glancing over something on the bottom shelf, “Are you allergic to anything?”
“No,” You responded, eyebrows knitting together in confusion, “Why?”
“Grab some of that fresh rosemary,” Joel says, pointing out somewhere behind you and you whip around, eyes searching furiously and coming up empty, “—find it?”
You’re a little dumbfounded as you search the shelf of fresh herbs, Joel’s heavy footsteps approaching behind you as he reaches over your shoulder and plucks the exact thing he’s looking for with ease, “Hey, I had the right idea.” You defend, noticing how amused he looked at your befuddlement, “And you didn’t answer my question, either.”
“Well,” He tosses the small, plastic package in the cart, still tucked up at your side and you can feel his body heat, the solid wall of his chest against your shoulder, “don’t like the idea of accidentally killin’ you if I cook something you’re allergic to.”
“Well, what if I’m lying?” You challenge and Joel shoves you aside gently to grab the cart, hands on your shoulder as he shifts you away—and when had things gotten so…touchy?
Truthfully, Joel finds it easier than telling you, noting how quickly you quiet down when he asserts himself and does rather than asks. He knows if it made you uncomfortable you wouldn’t have had a problem speaking up immediately.
“Look at me,” And there’s a deep timbre to his voice that has your chest sparking like a fire, eyes connecting with Joel’s for longer than you’ve ever allowed and it’s like he sees right through you, but he’s searching for something, “—you’re not lyin’.”
“But, if I was?”
Joel nearly leaves you in the dust, but turns to look at you with a subtle grin.
“Well, now I know you’re not.”
The ride back is easier, much easier—and Joel doesn’t fault you when you fall asleep halfway through, the heat of the car and the low hum of the music like a perfect mix as you curl in on yourself. Joel wakes you with a gentle hand on your shoulder when you finally make it back, allowing you a moment to shake the grogginess away with a word over his shoulder as he opens his door.
“Careful over that patch of ice on your side,” Joel instructs, “gettin’ colder so it’s slicker than it was a couple days ago.”
Careful. You roll your eyes carelessly, nudging the door open with your shoulder and hopping out, boots hitting the hard ground—your first mistake was underestimating the slickness and Joel’s warning, because the moment you take your first step it’s all downhill. Literally.
Luckily though, like a moment of divine faith as you pray that you don’t hit the ground, Joel is right at your back, arms slipping under your own as he plants his feet firmly and catches you. One arm crossing somewhere over your midsection and the other wrapping around your shoulder, a large palm holding you steady as he helps you back to your feet. You can feel him on the brink of making a comment, eyes looking down tenderly into your own—
“Don’t ask.” You warn him bitterly, face scrunched up like a kicked puppy, shrugging him off lazily. Joel doesn’t argue, making sure you’re steady before he allows you himself to fully let go.
Joel shakes his head subtly, a nuisance of his, and rounds the back of the truck to reach for the bagged groceries, “Fine, I’ll just say I told you so then. How’s that?”
Worse.
-
Joel never asks for help, doesn’t even seem bothered when you stand there aimlessly, watching him stow away the groceries like he already had a game plan and you feel slightly useless, but it does give you a good opportunity to watch without any explicit reason or excuse.
There’s an obvious purpose to Joel’s movement, clear that he’s used to doing a lot of heavy lifting and keeping up, probably prefers organization over clutter, and has a certain inclination to do things himself, always. And you can’t help the way your gaze clings to his face, noticing something a little off—not good or bad, just slightly different. You hadn’t noticed it this morning, but with the extended amount of time your eyes lingered on him, you realize he’s cleaned up a bit, shaved his beard down to near stubble, a subtle difference…but you notice.
You’re not sure how long you’re stuck in this state, arms resting against the counter as you stood there, practically useless, thinking about what Joel looks like on a regular basis, when he isn’t cooped up in a cabin in the dead of winter. You want to see that side of him, crave it. It’s an insane thought that doesn’t make sense, eyes widening suddenly at the realization of the thought you’re having—
“You still with me?” Joel’s voice calls out in the haze, muffled slightly as you come back into focus, eyes landing on him. “Think I lost you there for a minute.”
“Oh—no. I mean, yeah. I’m still a little tired, I guess.” It’s a bold face lie, but Joel seems to believe you. “Why?”
“I was sayin’ I need to go chop up some wood for the fireplace,” He explains again, “then you went all wide eyed…”
“Oh, okay,” You nod jerkily, “...do you need help?”
Joel immediately declines. No surprise there.
“Why don’t you get some sleep?” Joel suggests, “I can manage just fine on my own.”
Sleep sounds great, but it doesn’t happen.
You try—you do, but the splitting of wood, the strong crack of the axe catching the wood outside of your bedroom window, it isn’t exactly soothing to the ears. So, you find yourself wandering into the kitchen, peeking between the curtains with a wild curiosity that reminds you of when you were younger and trying to catch a peek of the cute boy next door, a bashfulness replaced with a deep, insatiable hunger that you didn’t know existed until this moment.
Joel was attractive, you could easily admit that. But, seeing him now, it’s a done deal. There was a deep pit of despair in your mind and you were stuck at the bottom with no way out.
It’s almost abysmal how easy he makes it look, the axe he’d brandish as his weapon of choice against you swung over his shoulders, the unfortunate lack of skin stretching over taut muscles as he went through the motions, covered up by thick layers. But, you get the idea.
There’s a slight pout forming on your face before you catch yourself.
He slices full power through the wood like it was eager to give way to him. You also find that his face tugs up in a scowl after every swing of the axe, a soft sigh of exerted energy as he tosses the logs to the side and starts up again. You could watch for hours. But, you settle for the few more minutes he spends collecting the wood before you’re scrambling back into your bedroom like you had been there the entire time.
Unfortunately, Joel isn’t oblivious. Still, he spares you the embarrassment.
There was no reason for him to entertain whatever he thought might be going on. He couldn’t.
-
The next few days are uneventful, though that was to be expected. It allows you time to really settle in, usually curled up on the couch watching the fire crackle away until you thought your eyes might melt away, or reading a book that Joel always seemed to be trying to catch a peek at. There was an innocent curiosity there that you could appreciate.
You also learned that Joel only took his coffee one way, offering up your services to refill his cup while you refilled your own, sugar lingering over the rim and he’s quickly pushing away the small container of crystalized goodness.
“Joel, come on–” You grimace but relent, placing the cylinder of sugar on the counter.
“Don’t knock it ‘til you try it.” Is all he offers, almost challenging you to take a sip.
You accept, obviously. But, it isn’t without consequence.
The moment the bitterness hits your tongue you’re scrambling away, forcing the mug into Joel’s waiting hands and spitting out whatever putrid liquid remained in your mouth in the sink.
It’s the first time Joel actually laughs, a full on chuckle that isn’t very receptive on your end.
Joel apologizes with dinner that night, a gesture that wasn’t expected or needed, still you’re thankful nonetheless. But, it offers you the realization of just how good a cook Joel can be.
Steaks grilled to a perfection that only came with repetitive practice and learned techniques, vegetables sautéed and seasoned to an enjoyable level, and a side of pasta that if Joel told you he made from scratch, you would’ve believed wholeheartedly if you hadn’t seen him dump the entire box of pre-made pasta into a pot of boiling water.
You’re halfway through dinner, chewing thoughtfully on a bite when you finally break the long, but comfortable silence that had blanketed over you both.
“So, Joel,” There’s a tone to his name that catches his attention, eyes flicking up to meet yours mid-bite, “what do you do for work?”
At this point, your nosey tendencies take hold.
There’s a scrunch to Joel’s nose before he speaks, almost as if he considered feeding you a lie alongside the beautiful meal he’d made. He settles for a simple answer.
“Uh, carpentry.” Joel tells you after a long pause, “I—build stuff for people, businesses sometimes.”
That explains some of his sturdiness, his practiced strength that came from, probably, years of hard constructive work and building. It also explains why he’s also working away at his hands, rubbing out the stiff joints and knuckles.
“I know what carpentry is, Joel.” You deadpan, but there’s a playfulness lingering in your voice.
You assume he’s used to explaining himself often, which is why he forces it on you so easily.
“And you?” Joel asks suddenly, “College? You’re about that age, right?”
You snort softly at the tone he offers, slightly patronizing, but all in good fun.
“I’m taking a semester off,” You answer indifferently, remembering how disappointed your parents had been about the ordeal, but you were suffocating, “I’m not sure what I want to do anymore.”
“Nothin’ wrong with that,” Joel assures, “can’t fault you either. Never went to college so I don’t have an opinion on it.”
There’s no judgment on your end, but for the sake of conversation, you bite.
“Any reason?” You ask curiously, wondering if you'd receive the similar sentiment that it’s all just bullshit.
“Didn’t have the money,” Joel answers simply, “didn’t have the grades, either. I thought I could start my own business out of carpentry, but…”
But…you lean into the table slightly, hanging on his words.
“You need a lot of money for that,” Joel finishes, “and, I mean, I’m livin’ comfortable now, but that idea took a lot of money that I didn’t and still don’t have.”
“So, you waste it on month long vacations in the middle of the woods,” You surmise humorously, nodding in approval, “can’t say I blame you, either.”
Joel shakes his head in amusement, chewing around a bite as he speaks, “Your turn.”
Right. An eye for eye. A question for a question. He's watching you expectantly, waiting for you to give a response to the same question you asked him.
“Oh—I work out of this bookstore in downtown Austin.” You admit, finishing up the last few bites of your food, scraping the plate nearly clean. “It pays the bills and then some. I like it.”
There’s no compliment needed for the food, all the evidence of it gone. But, you feel the need to appreciate it anyways.
“Thanks for this, Joel.” You speak again, softer this time.
“It’s no big deal, darlin’.” Joel assures you, holding up his hands in a feeble defense at the compliment, clearly something he doesn’t welcome easily. “Just food.”
“It’s been...months,” You tell him, “since I’ve had any type of home-cooked meal. Take the damn thank you, Joel.”
He smirks at that, seeing the threatening fork raise before you utter those final words.
“You’re welcome.”
And he means it.
You force Joel to stay seated while you clean, knowing it was the least you could do after he spent so much time preparing and cooking dinner. There’s a solid few minutes of arguing before you have to physically shove Joel back into his chair despite his protests, hands pressed into his shoulders as you threateningly speak down to him.
“If you move, I’m locking your ass out in the cold.”
Joel wouldn’t mind, but you’re silently hoping that he’ll just listen.
After all is done, tossing the damp washcloth to the side, you sigh with a newfound relaxation.
There’s only one thing that might top off this night, making it almost the first perfect day here.
“That’s it, I’m getting in the hot tub,” You decide, squeezing tenderly at the tense muscles of your neck, thankful that the owners had a small alcove connected to the cabin that allowed for you to enjoy the hot tub from the safety of the cold, “join me?”
You’re not sure what inclines you to ask so openly, but you don’t second guess it.
“While I appreciate the offer,” Joel starts, “I don’t think I brought the proper…attire.”
He’s still seated where you had him planted and it makes you laugh softly at the idea that he was taking it seriously, which—yeah, you did threaten the possibility of hypothermia on him.
“Fine,” You relent, rounding the corner of the island closest to him as you quickly call out over your shoulder, “but, there’s still a couple of chairs in there if you need the company.”
He didn’t need just anyone’s either and didn’t need, so much as wanted.
He wanted your company.
A while later, you’re already waist deep in the hot tub, figure hugging white bikini tied back securely, arms resting against the side furthest from the door as you press your chin against your forearms and staring out the wall of vast windows that line the room, allowing a view of the snow storm outside, coming down in a flurry that seemed to only be gaining in strength—and Joel, well, he’s still sitting in that stupid chair.
He’s allowed himself too much time in his own head, thinking over the events of the past few days. His call to Sarah was pleasant, a much needed moment of peace when he hears his daughter’s bright, hyper voice on the other end. When he doesn’t have her for the holidays, it’s hard. The calls are sparse, the communication is clipped, and it feels like he’s being forced away from her, knowing that she’s growing older every day. That he is growing older.
He’s allowed a lot of his life to slip away, when he wasn’t working to pay bills and put food on the table he was usually drinking, bar-hopping with Tommy at his old age to hide the pain he felt everyday, mentally and physically. There’s a problem brewing under his skin, using the company of his brother and alcohol to cope with loss he feels so viscerally everyday. The life he could’ve had.
He feels pitiful, miserable—only took this damn trip to get out of town by the suggestion of Tommy, away from all distractions, hoping for a refresh to clear his head. But instead, he met you.
He had no clue what the fuck to do anymore.
Joel’s never processed emotions well, feelings or anything thereof.
But, here he was, lusting after you.
He knows it’s the excitement, the taboo idea around sharing something special with a stranger. Someone who knows nothing about you, someone who doesn’t have the leverage to judge. Someone who doesn’t have to know about all the wrongs he’s committed and bad choices he’s made.
You’re not privy to the fucked up version of Joel that belongs in his hometown, cooped up in his childhood home that he inherited from his parents, filled with too many now painful memories that he’d made with Sarah when she was younger—when he still had her.
He can’t help the way his mind races every single second of the day, constantly worrying, always trying to busy himself with something, anything to keep that lingering cloud of anxiety away. But, when he thinks about you, even something so mundane as the way you squint to get a closer look at a paragraph of the book you’ve probably read a thousand times, his mind goes quiet.
Because, frankly, he’s fascinated by the idea of you. That maybe, just maybe, you weren’t actually real. He’s halfway leaning toward the idea that he’s had a full mental break and this is all an illusion he’s cooked up in his head, but then he reminds himself that you are just as full a human as himself. There is a reason for this, even if there had to be some other force at play.
Maybe you needed this as badly as he did.
A fresh start, no judgment.
And that’s why he decides to follow you, the moment he catches a glimpse of you as you turn the corner to take the steps down into the room that connected to the kitchen, a full glimpse of skin and body that he’s tried to keep his mind off of, despite how openly you stare at him.
There has to be something there. He can’t have imagined all of this.
You feel his presence when the creak of wood gives him away, one hand shoved into his front pocket and his other arm helping him stay upright as he leaned against the doorframe. The steam billows and settles like a cloud over the bubbling hot tub but does nothing to hide how see-through your bathing top is and the slick slope of your breasts, his eyes trailing down toward the small bow that was sewn to the midpoint of your top and know he’s staring at your chest, very openly—Joel’s immediately regretting his choice.
Your eyes follow his but you dare not speak, afraid to startle him.
Now who was the jumpy one?
“Change your mind?” You ask curiously, shimming the expanse of the hot tub as you grab onto the opposite ledge, resuming your previous position, closer to Joel now. If you reached out you could touch the edge of his flannel and soak the trim, maybe even pull him closer, but you resist the urge. “It feels amazing. I’m serious.”
It wasn’t a ploy to get him in, but it wouldn’t hurt. He doesn’t respond, eyes staring at the soft wave of the water as it hits your side, his posture rigid.
Maybe you’d broken him.
“Joel,” You call out with a soft nudge to his thigh, as far as you could reach with your fingertips, cutting into his line of sight, offering a friendly smile, “just strip down to your underwear and get in.”
“I don’t think—”
Oh, for christ sake.
“You wouldn’t have come over here if you weren’t at least thinking about enjoying the benefits of the hot tub,” You argue, “so stop being grumpy and strip. I won’t even look.”
It shouldn’t sound as gritty as it does, a playful venom in your tone as you sink back slightly.
It makes Joel feel like he’s back in high school, flirting with who would eventually be his ex-wife and mother of his daughter, but there’s an assertiveness that intrigues Joel, your willingness to put yourself out there without fear. Take a leap, a jump, and hope that someone will catch you.
Joel caught you, he just needed someone to catch him.
You spot his fidgeting, the wheels and cogs in his mind turning and he just needs that shove.
Just enough.
You rise over the edge, palms pressed flat to bear your weight and squeeze your breasts together, belly button nearly level with the water as you’re close enough to see the fine details of his face, giving him a look that Joel couldn’t deny.
“Get. In.” You stress the words, making direct eye contact. “You can thank me later.”
Finally, he moves.
You sink back slightly into the pool and wade the water until you hit a corner, watching briefly as Joel works away at the buttons on his flannel, quiet air filling with an unspoken tension. You try to busy yourself with the view outside, something that didn’t require you to look in the vicinity of Joel for a second, knowing that the moment felt more intimate than it needed to. But, it doesn’t stop that sparse glances over your shoulder to check on him, now barefoot and pulling his shirt over his shoulders, the fabric pulling and obscuring your view of his face and his view of you, staring so starkly at him in that moment.
It shouldn’t surprise you, but it does. The freckles that speckle his shoulders, nearly invisible from this distance because of his tanned shoulders and the unevenness of the tan as it continues down his arm, varying in shades of intensity, undoubtedly from hours of working in the sun. There’s also a smaller patch of hair on his chest that with his short cropped beard, seems to be trimmed down too. His strong build doesn’t throw you off, though—solid muscle that flexed across his stomach as he yanked his shirt a little harder to get it over his head fully, not built in a way that rippled down his abdomen, but showed a sturdiness to his figure that had your body humming to a tune that reached down to your core, thighs squeezing together under the water.
Joel passes the shirt off into a waiting arm chair, clothes slowly piling on the cushion alongside your towel and he pops the button on his jeans, still unaware of your…innocent observation. But, the moment the jeans stretch over his thighs you swallow a little too hard and you’re immediately averting your eyes when he looks up briefly.
Like you’d been caught.
Joel clears his throat like a warning, as if he hadn’t felt your eyes on him the entire time, and swings a leg over carefully, a view of the black briefs that molded to his skin perfectly and hugged his backside in a way that feels criminally illegal…and you’re staring again.
He hisses at the sudden change in temperate, but inch by inch he lowers and adjusts, eventually huffing out a low groan, eyes closed, when he finally settles on the seat inside of the tub.
Suddenly, this felt like a terrible idea.
“See?” You break the revered silence for him, “Worth it?”
“Almost forgot how you just bullied me in here.” He jokes—full on fuckin’ jokes before cracking an eye open to catch your reaction, a subtle look of disbelief on your face. “I’m kidding, darlin'.”
Your fingers tighten around the edge of the seat under the water and you smile, a half-hearted roll of your eyes thrown his way before you relax too, for a moment.
“This is so weird,” You speak softly, after a while, and Joel looks slightly puzzled as he opens his eyes fully now, perking up slightly as he adjusts himself, chest rising over the water slightly, his arms hanging over the ledge with his fingers gripping the ceramic—and you’re gaze is drifting again, mostly to his hands, but you mask it as you look away briefly, down the hall or out the window. Literally anywhere but Joel, “it’s just—not how I expected things to go.”
“You’re tellin’ me.” Joel replies with an underlying amusement.
As the quiet settles, slowly drifting closer to one side, where you originally were when Joel came searching for you—voluntarily, he lingered and waited, waited for the push you gave him—Joel joined alongside you, burrowing himself in the closet corner nook and enjoying the view in silence.
“You’re awfully quiet,” Joel comments, “everything alright?”
Everything was fine and you couldn’t make complete sense out of it. The ability to be so inherently comfortable with someone you’ve only known for a little under a week, the attraction you felt despite your own rational thinking telling you otherwise, the urge to connect openly and without fear of judgment. It terrifies you.
“Can I ask you a question?” You ask quietly, “Like…a real question, not those superficial ones that we’ve thrown at each other.”
Joel doesn’t like the sound of it, but there’s also the inclination that he could feed you a total lie and you wouldn’t have any idea otherwise.
He nods, fist resting against his cheek as he turns to look at you and suddenly the pressure is on, your heart racing in your chest at his sudden, full attention.
“Earlier…you said you forgot somethin’ in the car,” Joel’s fist clenches unknowingly under the water, an instinct to bury his reaction, “I know it isn’t my business, but I was just curious what is was.”
Joel, against every fiber in his being that tells him to deflect, gives you a straight answer. It’s almost startling how easily it comes out, like he’s lifting a weight off his chest that he’s carried for years.
“I had to make a call,” Joel admits, “to uh—my daughter, she’s back home with her mom.”
Your brow pulls together in confusion, “Wait, are you married?”
Joel somehow amidst the heaviness of admitting his truth still laughs, quick to defend himself from your next question.
“Oh, not at all. Never, actually.” Joel responds, “We…I never married her mom, it was obvious pretty quickly we weren’t going to work well together.”
The answer is simpler than you expect, different too. Part of you wondered if he was pleading his own case to the owners and was just as unsuccessful as you, but this is much more vulnerable.
And despite your ability to lie, and his own, neither of you can force it.
You don’t pry further, feeling like it may push things too far. Too personal.
“Okay, your turn.”
“Do I scare you?” Joel asks suddenly, almost like he’s been anticipating the moment too.
You’re almost sure the expression you return makes you look insane, feeling the implication that he might, that he thinks—it’s so far left field that it throws you off.
“No—no,” You quickly reject any lingering doubt he has, “I mean…the first night, maybe. But, now…no.”
“Oh.” It’s all Joel can muster, unsure of why he was expecting a different answer. That you would say yes and whatever shroud of thought he had about this moment you were sharing was only out of fear, that you were just trying to be polite.
“Look, I get jumpy because you sneak up on me,” You answer, “and you have this…presence about you,” Okay, not the best wording, “not scary or anything, just…strong.” Big, like a wall. Like, if anyone were to ever approach you wrongly, Joel would attack without question. And maybe the fact that he would do that should scare you, but instead, it entices you.
Joel sits with the implication, burdened by his own mind.
You can see him lost in thought, speaking with a comforting surety, “Thank you…for telling me.”
The truth. Thank you for telling me the truth.
The next stretch of time, what feels like an hour, is spent in a comforting silence. You think Joel is nearly falling asleep but then he moves, make a comment about how the snow won’t let up and eventually you’re forcing yourself out of the hot tub, reaching over the side to snatch your towel and sending all of Joel’s clothes descending to the floor in the process and as if you had a death wish on Joel, your ass pops up at an angle that is physically impossible to look away from.
Joel is a gentleman, he swears. He was raised to respect and care and always put women first, but there’s a split second where he can’t pull his eyes away, feels like he’s just caught a glimpse of something he shouldn’t have, but then you’re turning your head over your shoulder and you definitely catch him—you could ruin the moment and say something or you could ignore it.
Fortunately, you save Joel some embarrassment, covering it with a sly smile as you apologize for dropping his clothes and take the final step out and wrap the towel around your body.
“Shit,” You quickly realize that in the midst of your pushing Joel to join you that he didn’t have a towel, “stay here—I’ll go grab you a towel.”
Joel wasn’t eager to move anyways, admittedly. Sporting half a hard-on under the water, he wouldn’t subject himself to the scrutiny of your gaze or what implications it would make, thinking every horrible possible thought to will it away—luckily your timing is perfect.
You quickly gather his dropped clothes and pile them in the chair as you toss the towel his way, ignoring any and all chances to glimpse at his wet body, back turned as you quickly excuse yourself away in fear of the idea that you might say something unforgettably stupid.
-
The walk to your separate bedroom is quick, swift, like a desperately needed escape.
But, as fate would have it, the moment you open the door and wretch the towel away from your body there’s a loud pop! to your left and a spark on the outside that has you halfway on the floor and slamming into the wall out of both shock and an attempt to shield yourself from whatever unseen force was at play, yelping out loud in the process.
From an outside perspective, you can understand why Joel doesn’t hesitate to come running.
He runs straight into your back, bare chest pressed against your know bare shoulders and leaving you half-dressed in front of him, scared out of your wits and willing to grab onto whatever was nearby to keep you upright—fortunately, Joel’s arm is the perfect anchor as your hand wraps around his wrist and squeezes.
“What the hell?” Joel inquires, slightly out of breath as he searches your face for any signs of injury, “What happened?”
You both look at the culprit—the heated window unit that was no longer expelling heat, and while the cabin was still heated, it didn’t reach the bedrooms well enough that you weren’t shivering without some type of additional help. You sigh in frustration, eyes turning up towards the ceiling as you feel no shame, too frustrated to care as you lean into Joel’s chest.
“Shit.” It’s all Joel offers as a solution, not that you were expecting one. But, still, it would be nice.
“Yeah, shit.” You echo, pushing away from him suddenly to gather your damp towel and a change of clothes, padding your bare feet toward the living room, but Joel is grabbing your wrist before you get too far from him.
“Hey, woah,” He starts in a calmer tone, “you can take my room—I’ll drive into town tomorrow and see if I can get ahold of the owners, we’ll figure something out.”
“I already tried calling them,” You admit, “Earlier. Straight to voicemail and something tells me they won’t be answering their phones until after the holidays.”
Pulling away again, you continue your way toward the living room and gather a few pillows and blankets, tossing them on the larger couch beside the fireplace. Joel doesn’t seem to entertain the idea, following on your heels as he gathers each item you throw in that direction and you finally reach a point of full, unrestrained frustration.
“Joel, cut the shit.”
“Take the room,” He offers as a counter, “I can sleep on the couch.”
With his back? Not a chance. But, he offers anyway.
“Fuck off,” You chuckle bitterly, “I’m not forcing you out of the bedroom.”
“Then it looks like we’re sharin’ the living room.”
You close your eyes, toss the blanket aside and breathe, clenching and unclenching your fists in an effort to not completely lose it on the man standing opposite of you.
Chivalry be damned, Joel wasn’t giving in.
Fine, two could play at that game.
“I’ll take the bed.” You quickly agree, but there’s a lingering ultimatum.
Joel waits, sees the thought brewing behind your pensive eyes.
“But, so will you.”
“Now—”
“No,” You interject, putting your figurative foot down, suddenly vividly reminded of your vulnerability as you stood there, still slightly damp and in a swimsuit that did nothing to cover your body—it was the reason Joel’s eyes were so pointedly stuck on your face, never lingering elsewhere, “either we both sleep in here on the couch or we share the bed.”
Joel’s hands shift to his hips, towel tight around his waist and you’re too annoyed to admire the way his muscles tense and flex with the movement, the underlying thickening desire settling beneath the surface.
You match his stance, daring him to challenge you.
A small part of you wants him too.
“Anyone ever told you you’re damn stubborn?” Joel asks, trailing behind you as you enter his bedroom, a clone of your own but with a small bathroom attached.
“All the time.” You answer truthfully. “I’m going to shower and sleep—no funny business.”
Meaning if Joel did sneak away into the living room to offer up the full amenities of his own room, he would feel your wrath tenfold.
Joel resigns to the idea and gathers his own pair of fresh clothes before disappearing into the bathroom down the hall, leaving you both to a moment of levity.
There’s no anticipation to the arrangement—but the idea is there, burrowing into the back of your mind.
You’re sleeping with a stranger…someone you knew little to nothing about, but it was your choice. And you trusted your gut.
Joel was safe, he was good.
You relax under the spray of hot water, a different heat to the one you enjoyed just a while ago, the type that allowed your thoughts to roam, and you laugh softly at the sight of Joel’s shower supplies, knowing he was stuck with whatever you brought—it wasn’t something you thought about in the moment, but there’s a brief realization that he was sharing a moment similar to your own, scowling at the sight of your fruity scented body wash that you left on the shelf there. It wasn’t a huge deal, Joel wouldn’t fuss over it.
But, it also lends your mind to roam more.
As if his bare chest wasn’t already at the forefront, and his eyes as they had stared at you so unabashed until the moment he was caught, all innocent looks with deeper intentions that invaded your mind like a plague.
You were so fucking frustrated—annoyed with him, the state of your life, this stupid vacation. With the suds gone and the water drowning out the silence you allow yourself one—just one moment of selfishness...
And as if the house was the biggest tattletale of them all, the floor creaks on the other side of the door.
“Joel?” You call out curiously, as if an intruder in the middle of nowhere was even likely.
There’s several seconds of silence before Joel finally answers.
“Yeah?”
“Your body wash sucks.” You goad lightly, hoping to ease the earlier frustration that had grown between you both, and while you can’t see him, you can hear his laughter on the other side of the door.
“Can’t say yours is any better.”
You smile to yourself, the way he responds with fondness that he tries to hide.
When you finish up and dress, peeking your head out before you move to open the door fully, Joel is already on his side, turned away. It was obvious that he didn’t want to be bothered. The small blanket of division rolled and wedged in the center of the bed like a barrier, a warning.
Keep your distance and you both may manage to survive the rest of this vacation.

It feels like a fresh wave of grief over the final cancellation has been going around lately. It just feels so unfair - this show outperformed by every metric, even when season 2's budget was cut. We shouldn't have had to fight for it in the first place, and it only hurts even more that we didn't get a renewal in the end.
In every way that matters, I keep telling myself, we won. We got two fantastic seasons of television with excellent writing, incredible acting, and a damn good story. We got the start of a happy ending, and we got so many things I'd never even known to hope for. Even though the renewal campaign didn't work, I hope it at least softened the blow for the cast and crew who loved this show along with us. The love in this community has also been something so special - I know this isn't something that's going to go away in an instant.
But it just really hurts, lately. We should've had more to look forward to. The creators should have been able to end their show on their terms. And it just adds insult to injury when the same tired shows get renewed for their 21st season and we couldn't even get three. And we all know why - maybe someday, we won't have to fight tooth and nail for a queer show with central characters of color to get made, but it hurts so much that this exceptional show didn't get the renewal it deserved.
It hurts that there was nothing we could've done better. The numbers were there. They turned out an excellent second season even when the odds were against it. It's just rough.
I'll be in the blanket fort if anyone needs me. Door's the blue cushion.

_________________________
The cold bit into my skin as I do my best to remain awake. Despite being raised in such cold climates I found myself being caught unawares and unprepared. Trudging through the cold windy mountains with nothing on my feet. I couldn't feel my toes anymore, my feet starting to turn a nasty blue and black color.
My hair no longer blew in the wind, frozen to my skull along with my tears. I shiver violently as my body tries to warm me up.
Even from the mountain side I could see my village, in flames. With my vision blurry it almost looked like the sun was rising, but I knew I wasn't that lucky.
I try and make it to the other side of my island, hoping that I could find a way off it and away from all the carnage. It was definitely a rude awakening when I was suddenly shaken awake by my older brother, yanking me out of bed and trudging through the snow towards the mountains. With no explanation as to why, but once I was outside, seeing the fresh warm blood melting and staining what was once pristine white snow with cannonballs and bullets flying in any which way I understood why we didn't have time to put on our shoes.
Houses were burning to the ground as families screamed inside trying to find a way out. And for those who had made it out trying to stop the bleeding of loved ones.
Even only being outside for a few moments I could already feel myself shivering in my light sleeping clothes. My brother holding me tightly by my hand as he drags me around as fast as he can. Weaving thought small alleyways and streets trying to avoid whoever was attacking. It had been made clear to me it was pirates, despite living in the new world we didn't fall under any Emperors protection, and we fairly ever saw marines aside from the occasional ship doing to re-supply. If they ended up here they are almost always off course. we were very close to the calm belt and pretty close to the red line, hence we are pretty out of the way.
Being a small winter island in an out of the way corner of the world came with many benefits. We almost never saw pirates, our island wasn't anywhere on the way to the final island so there wasn't a point to coming here, and with the lack of pirates meant a blatant lack of Marines, we were never in danger so it was never needed. At least never needed until now.
Panting heavily from running around our small little village I could hear loud laughing, Suddenly my brother stopped just as we were about to leave an ally causing me to run into his back.
I gasped quietly as I stood behind him. I couldn't clearly make out what I was seeing, but from the sound of pained screams and cruel laughing I figured I didn't really want to know.
I hid my face in my brother's back avoiding whatever he was staring at. I could feel him start to shiver as he slowly crouched down, leading me down with him, but I knew he wasn't shivering from the cold, he was shivering from pure unbridled fear.
"(Y/N), we need to be quiet and we need to be fast. We have to sneak by them and get to the mountains, once we get past them we will be able to find a boat on the other side and run. Do you understand me?"
I quietly nodded into his back, wanting to avoid making any sound.
Slowly while still being crouched down we moved out of the dark alley. Despite the carnage now being clearly in my line of sight, I stare at the wall of the building we were crouching beside. The last thing I wanted to see was the deaths of my friends. The thought brought tears to my eyes.
"We're almost there, just a little more."
I try to quiet my sniffles, even if it is dark. The fires that have been spreading start to illuminate the village as if it were the sun, and the soft crunch of the snow under my feet that seemed louder than ever when we are trying to sneak around and be unnoticed.
"HEY!!!!!"
My brother whipped his head around looking behind up then down at me with panic all over his face and fear in his eyes.
"RUN!!"
We bolt off into the tree that surrounds the mountains, I turn back to look at who was chasing us and for a split second it looked like a girl with long half up hair in some kind of robe, pointing a gun at us.
Just as I turn back around and run with my brother I hear the shot of her pistol.
"ARGGGGGGGGH"
My brother screams as the bullet narrowly misses me and hits his left shoulder blade. He released my hand from his crushing grip as he collapsed on the ground, clutching his shoulder in pain.
I'm about to get down beside him and help before he yanks me in front of him.
"RUN (Y/N), DON'T LOOK BACK JUST RUN!!!!"
Tears pour down my cheeks as I feel my brother's warm blood stain the snow and touch my bare feet, warming them but sending a chill up my spine.
"no, I d-don't want to l-leave you."
My voice was choked with sobs, as I looked past him and saw the shooter calling over more of her crew.
"You need to go. Find the boat on the other side of the and run, don't stop till you find help."
"I can't"
I can't help the hiccups that come out as I beg for him to get up and come with me, to hold on and to run with me.
My heart was beating a mile a minute. I swear it was about to explode.
"Please (Y/N), I can't watch you die, run. Live for me, find peace for me."
His voice crashed as he banged me to run. I could slowly see that light fading from his eyes. The blood poured out of his shoulder like a waterfall, clearly it hit an artery. I sobbed loudly as I clung to him begging him not to leave me and to get up.
"HE'S DOWN, GRAB HER!!!"
I look up to see several of the pirates making their way over to me and my brother, the woman no longer pointing her guns but still holding them. Now she was accompanied by three clearly tall and muscular men, all coming out of the town and making their way over to us.
I looked down at my brother again, seeing his pale skin and his dark lifeless eyes grow cold as ice. I gently kissed his forehead with shaky lips before getting up and running as fast as I could, regardless of my gut reaching sobs and hiccups.
I could hear them chasing after me, yelling and telling me to stop. Once I was in the tree line I started to zig zag through the trees, trying to be as quiet as possible while also avoiding being shot. Once I was a ways up the ridge I looked back to see the flames of my home grow exponentially.
I no longer heard the yells of the pirates chasing me but I didn't want to risk it so I continued up the mountain, cold rocks and ice cutting into my souls. I was clearly making bloody footprints making it easy to follow but if I'm lucky I'll make it to the boats quickly, leaving no more trails to follow.
I continue hiking up the mountain shivering like a scared lamb, all alone with my consciousness beginning to fade. Black spots started to appear in my vision, fading and reappearing. Between my fading vision and the darkness of the woods at the dead of night I could feel myself fading bit by bit.
It couldn't have been more than a minute till I collapsed into the cold snow.
"N-no, I-I can't d-di-e h-here~"
My voice faded into a whisper as I black out unable to move any further. But before I had completely passed out I saw a great brilliant light of blue and gold. Maybe this was the end of me, I could feel my last tear fall, sad I couldn't fulfill my promise to my brother, I guess now I could apologize in person.
—————————————
Consciousness came to me slowly, my body felt numb, like pins and needles had appeared all over my body, my extremities especially. I tried to move, lifting my hand only for it to feel like they were trapped under boulders. I tried to open my eyes, only to shut them just as quickly from the brightness of the room I was in.
I groaned in pain, even just trying to move a little bit hurt. Warm tears moved down my cheeks. Small sobs escaped my horse throat. I felt something small hop up on my bed, I felt what seemed like a small paws brush on my thighs over and over. A quiet whine came from what I now assumed was a small dog.
On one hand I was glad I wasn't dead, but on the other hand I didn't know it was possible to be in this much pain. Through my small sobs I didn't hear the creak of a door opening or the gentle footsteps coming closer to the bed.
It wasn't until I heard the dog on my lap bark and growl a little at the new stranger I even noticed someone was in the room.
"Quit it Stefan."
It wasn't until I felt the bed dip from the man sitting down beside me that I tried to open my eyes to see who was there but it was all still too bright. Soft hiccups left my lips now as I cried and tried to speak to this stranger.
"Shhhh, pretty girl. it's ok."
The man above me gently cooed as he gently ran his fingers through my hair, giving my scalp a light massage. I tried to do what he suggested and took a deep breath, holding it for a second and letting it out again.
"There we go, atta girl~."
After a few more deep breaths I tried to open my eyes again, I did it slowly and kept my eyes squinted, I could make out tan skin and an orange, what I assumed to be a hat, on the man's head.
"Ohh, it's too bright isn't it, here, gimme a sec."
The weight was lifted off the bed and the dog gave another little bark at the man. I heard the sound of shades being drawn and the light shining through my eyelids diminishes.
The man walks over and sits beside me again. I felt his unusually warm hand being pressed to my cheek.
"Lets try opening those lovely eyes again, huh?"
I slowly started to open my eyes again, after a second of adjustment and waiting for my tears to slow I looked up to see a handsome man with a big grin looking down at me. Now that I could see him properly I saw his incredibly toned skin, skin that just so happened to not have a shirt on it. He had a dark red beaded necklace around his neck and an orange hat on top of soft black locks. Looking over to the paws on my legs I saw a little white dog with a crescent moon mustache.
Looking back over to the handsome young man I tried to ask him where I was and what had happened. The last thing I remember was seeing a bright light before passing out in the snow. But when I tried to speak all that came out was sad little whimpers that hurt.
More hot tears fell from my eyes at the pain, I tried to lift my hand up to my throat but it also wouldn't move.
"Ohhh, Shhhhhh sweet girl, it's ok, it's ok. Just breathe, I'm going to go get someone who can help you ok?
I nodded as much as I could as my head fell back onto the pillow as I closed my eyes again, trying to manage with the pain as much as I could. I could hear his footsteps walk out and the quiet latching of the door being shut again as I tried to comprehend what was happening and how I got here in the first place.
As the sobs left my body I faintly heard the dog the man before called Stefan whine a little as he crawled over to my face, licking away my tears for me.
After a few minutes I opened my eyes again when I heard footsteps outside my room before the door began to creak open. The shirtless man came back but this time he wasn't alone. Another man with blonde hair and an open button up shirt and a blue tattoo on his chest, a tattoo that I recognized. When the other man closed the door I saw the large purple tattoo on his back, the mark of Whitebeard. I was with pirates.
I began to thrash around as much as I could, which really wasn't much but it was enough to have Stefan jump off of the bed. My breathing was uneven as I started to hyperventilate as I tried to get up to run away. All I was really able to do was to push the blanket off of me a little before the blonde instructed the other man, who he called Ace to hold me down.
Ace ran over to me moving in behind me so I was leaning against his back as his two strong hands held onto my wrists. Having him move me into a sitting position was less than comfortable but it wasn't as bad as when I finally saw why I was in so much pain.
My fingers, toes and parts of my legs and arms were black and purple, a clear sign of serious frostbite. No wonder I was in so much pain. but what was I expecting? Passing out on a snowy mountain in your PJ's was bound to do some serious damage. Tears continued to fall as I 'thrashed' to get out of his grip.
I knew there was no point, my merger strength was nothing compared to a seasoned pirate, but there was no way I wouldn't try.
"Marco, do something!"
I saw 'Marco' walk over to me with a syringe filled with some kind of liquid, making me try and thrash around even more. As he got closer Ace pinned down one of my arms to the bed. I began shaking my head back and forth, begging them to stop.
"N-no please n-o."
I could nearly get the words out as I begged them not to do anything.
"Shhhhh, Baby Bird. You're ok. we aren't going to hurt you."
I couldn't help my body trembling as he motioned for Ace to hand him my arm.
"Deep breath Firefly, just take some deep breaths with me."
I could feel Ace's chest rise and fall as he took some deep breaths, encouraging me to do the same.
At first I refused, keeping my eyes trained on Marco and the syringe in his hand, waiting for him to stick me with it, wondering what it would do.
But after a minute or two of him staring calmly into my eyes, massaging my wrist with his hand I could help but calm down as Ace helped me breathe.
"There we go, Little Bird~. This is just gonna help you sleep a little so we can fix you up a little more."
Ace began to gently rock me back and forth in his arms as Marco managed my wrist, slowly bringing the syringe closer and closer.
Ace nudged my cheek with his, pushing my head to look away.
"It's ok Firefly, it's just gonna help you nap a little, you'll be up before supper.
—————————————
Waking up a second time was a lot less painful than before, if not a little more panicked, I was able to sit up by myself and when I looked down to see my hands. They were wrapped in bandages that went up most of my arms, the same bandages going up my legs.
"Good to see ya finally up. Figured the dose Marco gave you wouldn't last too long, you musta just been really tired."
I gasp as I look to my right, seeing a tall man with brown hair, a goatee and wearing chef's clothes.
"The names Thatch, I'm Whitebeard's fourth division commander, I also just so happen to be the cook here on the Moby Dick."
My mouth hung open as I tried to figure something out to say, I couldn't help my trembling as another member of the Whitebeard Pirates sat in front of me. Talking to me as if we were friends.
I looked down at my hands again, not knowing what to say to him. All I could do was fiddle with the bandages only for a warm hand to engulf both of mine, making me look back at Thatch.
"Better not, Marco would have my head if I let you take off your bandages. He did his best to heal you but couldn't heal all of it, your frostbite was super extensive. He applied some kind of cream all over the parts he couldn't fix right away before he applied the bandages."
I slowly nodded at him, trying to subtly pull my hands away from him. His one hand completely eclipses both of mine but he wouldn't let me go, just giving me a little smirk when I looked back up at him.
"Come on Buttercup, we better get some food into ya, you can't heal with an empty belly."
Once he mentioned food I realized how hungry I actually was, not just hungry but really thirsty too. I nodded a little, keeping my head down as I tried to swing my legs over the edge of the bed to stand up only for Thatch to let go of my hands wrap his arm around my shoulders and one under my knees.
I flinched a little as he hosted me into his arms, my back was fine but my legs throbbed with pain.
He cringed a little at the sound I made when he picked me up.
"Sorry Buttercup, I know it hurts but trust me, having you walk right now would be a hundred times worse."
I begrudgingly nodded my head. As much as I didn't like being carried around if just being picked up hurt, I didn't want to know how much it would hurt to actually walk around.
Thatch smiled down at me and started to walk to the door, the second he opened it after adjusting me a little I heard barking.
I looked down to see the little dog Stefan jumping up at me, his front paws resting on Thatches legs.
I could feel the rumble of Thatches chest as he laughed at the little dog's antics.
"We had to keep him out of your room because he kept trying to take your bandages off, he really doesn't like them for some reason. But he's been guarding your room ever since we kicked him out."
Thatch walked down the long corridor and up a large flight of stairs. Stefan follows close behind. As he walked up onto the main deck I squinted my eyes. Wherever we were was hot, even as the sun was setting it was still so warm, a sharp contrast from my home island.
You could see nothing but sea from all angles, no land for miles most likely. The sun looked beautiful, reflecting the sun and the beautiful colors of the sky.
"Hey Firefly! You're awake!"
Ace jumped off the railing of the ship and ran over to us. I flinched back as he came closer and reached his hand out to touch me.
His face flashed with concern, looking over to Thatch.
"What did you expect, Fire Fist."
He rolled his eyes but before he could say anything someone cut him off.
"She's hurt, in a new place and surrounded by new people, slow it down Ace."
Thatch turned slightly and I was just able to see over his shoulder, Marco was walking over to us.
Ace nodded sheepishly. Marco walked in front of me, hunching over a little so that we were face to face, not giving me a whole lot of breathing room considering his last statement.
"How are you feeling, Baby Bird? Woozy, dizzy, nauseous?"
I tried to turn my face away, almost nuzzling into Thatches chest but Marco cupped my cheek with his hand, gently forcing me to look at him. He lifted his other hand to my cheek, slowly turning my head side to side ever so slightly. His eyes examined every inch of my face.
He raised his eyebrow a little, waiting for me to respond to his question. Thatch gave me a little nudge, silently encouraging me to answer him.
"I.... I feel f-fine."
My voice was barely above a whisper. Marco tilted his head at me, clearly waiting for me to say more. After a few more seconds of silence Thatch decided to speak up.
"Come on Marco, like you said, she's scared. I bet she'll feel more talkative once she gets some food in her system."
He signed but nodded, backing up a little, releasing my cheeks from his palms after giving them a stroke with his thumbs.
Thatch smiled down at me as I curled into myself as much as I could while being left and without hurting myself too much. It was uncomfortable being so close to so many dangerous and world renowned pirates.
Thatch flipped around, pushing a swinging down open with his back and walked down a small flight of stars and into a mess hall, but not before shooing Stefan away, saying no dogs were allowed.
Looking around I could see the mess hall being completely empty. it made sense, with it being practically dark now everyone would have had dinner by now.
I figured He would set me down on one of the many benches lining the long tables, but instead he flips around to open another set of doors and lead into a large, pristine kitchen. He gently sets me down on the counter top.
I shivered at the cold counter that touched the part of my bare thighs that wasn't covered in bandages. Ace and Marco stepped into the kitchen not too long after us. Ace noticing the goosebumps that had spread all over my skin almost instantly.
"Well that just won't do."
He hopped up onto the counter with me and grabbed my waist, hoisting me to sit on his lap. I yelped loudly, making Thatch look over his shoulder from his cooking only to smirk and look back once he knew I was 'safe'. At least in his terms anyway. On my terms on the other hand, this felt less than safe.
I adjusted myself in his lap a little but with his strong arms wrapped tightly around my stomach there wasn't much I could do. He rested his chin on my shoulder lightly.
He felt warm, almost too warm, as if he had a fever. his body heat began to smother away the cold from the room. After a minute small flames appeared all over his arms. I screamed a bit, causing Marco who was leaning against the counter, staring at a clipboard I haven't noticed he had and Thatch was still making me dinner to look over at us.
As I panic, screaming for him to let me go and try to get out of Ace's arms before I get burned I could hear Thatch laugh a little at my trying to get away. I didn't seem to understand what was so funny. One of his cremates had just erupted into flames with me held in a vice grip and he was laughing. If I wasn't so scared right now and badly injured I would try to smack him, pirate or not.
"Shhhhh, baby bird. You're ok. Calm down."
Marco was much more sympathetic to my fear. He stepped in front of me, holding my hands that had been trying to shove Ace's arms away from me, bringing my knuckles to his lips despite my harsh yanking.
"L-Let me g-go!!!!"
Ace leaned his head up, pressing his lips into my ear and whispering softly.
"It's ok Firefly, just calm down for a second. Focus on Marcos hands, on my voice."
After another second of panic I calmed down a little, thought it was less of me calming down and more of me losing what little stamina I still had.
Marco and Ace kept talking to me softly, coaxing me into relaxing as much as they could.
"See Firefly? It's not burning you. We would never let that happen."
I whimpered softly as they both held me close, keeping me from thrashing around. But at this point I don't think I could even if I wanted to. After a few minutes of Marco coxing me to take some deep breaths, Ace spoke up again.
"Do you know what a Devil Fruit is Firefly?"
I nod stiffly.
Thatch came to stand beside us. A plate of warm food in his hands. I stared at it longingly until Marco gripped my chin making me look at him again as Ace continued.
"Tell me what you know?"
After a few more deep breaths it was able to squeak out a reply.
"They are magical fruits that give whoever eats them powers, but they can't swim anymore."
I could feel Ace nodding as Marco gave me a smile.
"Anything else?"
I shake my head. While I knew what devil fruits where I was never interested enough to actually learn anything in detail.
"Well Baby Bird, there are a lot of different kinds of Devil Fruits. Some give you powers, some let you turn into animals and some like Ace can control elements, even becoming them if he wanted too.
I look back down at Ace's arms, the little flames still there.
"I can control the heat of my flames, Firefly. I could use them to burn my enemies, or warm up those I care about."
Ace lifted one of his hands and covered it completely in fire. Marco took one of my hands he was holding and placed it over Aces. I panicked for a second before I realized that the flame wasn't burning me. Just warming up my hand.
"See Buttercup, we wouldn't do anything to hurt you."
Thatch nudged Marco out of the way, causing him to let go of my hands, replacing them with a warm bowl of soup.
"Now eat up, you can ask all the questions you want once you are done."
—————————————
Once I had finished eating, Thatch had taken the bowl and washed it, Marco taking his previous spot in front of me. I looked up at him. Not knowing what to do next.
He looks down at my arms and legs, before looking back into my eyes.
"Before anything else I should check on your wounds and change your bandages. It's only been a few hours But I'd rather be safe than sorry."
I nodded at him, keeping my eyes down. As sweet as they all had been to me they were all more than a little intimidating.
Marco huffed a soft sigh as he picked me up and started walking out of the kitchen much to Ace's displeasure.
The second I was out of his arms the room seemed even colder than it was before, making the goosebumps coming back with a vengeance. Once Marco noticed he leaned down and whispered into my ear.
"We'll also find you some better clothes."
As warm as it was earlier the night came with an uncomfortable chill in the air especially out at sea. I nodded silently and nuzzled into him a little. As scared as I was, being surrounded by unknowns hasn't really hurt me yet and I didn't really have any option anyway.
Walking down a bunch of winding corridors we eventually end up in what I assumed was a med bay. It was really big all things considered. Not something I thought would have been on a ship but considering how big the ship was and how many crew members were aboard it made sense.
Marco set my on a cot closest to what I assumed was his desk. Behind it being several cabinets that lined the entire wall. Some of the doors had locks on them, others didn't. He walked over to one of the cabinet doors and opened it pulling out a small canister and some more bandages.
I nodded after a second. He smiled up at me before looking back to my leg focusing on the task in front of him.
He came over and knelt in front of me, taking one of my calves into his hand, looking up at me for permission. After all that had happened he didn't seem like the person to ask permission but I felt a little better knowing he wanted to make sure I was ok with his going any farther.
He slowly started to unwind the bandages, letting me see the damage again. In all fairness it looked much better than before but it still looked pretty nasty.
He examined my calf for a second before his hands erupted in blur and gold flames making me scream for the umpteenth time today.
Marco looked at me sympathetically.
"Its ok Baby Bird, I have a devil fruit too. It lets me heal any injury on myself, it lets me heal others but it doesn't work as well."
His voice was low and calm as he explained his abilities to me.
"It was you."
Marco glanced up at me for a second before focusing on my leg again, humming a question an what I was talking about.
Tears fell down my cheeks onto my thighs Marco stood up immediately once he noticed, taking my cheeks in his hands.
I shook my head as much as his hands would let me.
"What's wrong Baby Bird? What hurts?"
"On the mountain, before I passed out and when you put me to sleep."
I looked into his eyes,
"I saw the same flames."
He smiled at me and pressed his forehead to mine.
"Yes Baby Bird, I was the one who found you."
A sob escaped my throat as I tried to compose myself, I needed answers.
"W-what happened?"
He sighs again.
"You're Island had been attacked by Pirates, we had happened to be nearby when we saw flames in the distance. Once we got there it had been too late, the town was in flames with hundreds dead. We were fighting the pirates and looking for any survivors when I saw a trace of blood leading to the mountains, that's where I had found you collapsed in the snow"
I couldn't help the choked sob that came from me before I was finally able to say anything.
"Survivors?"
I couldn't stop my tears once he confirmed everyone else was dead.
Marco gave me a solemn look, before shaking his head.
"A-are you-u su-sure?"
I could barely get the words out through my sobs.
"I'm so sorry Baby Bird."
I collapsed into his arms, feeling him hold me tightly as I sobbed into his chest. Nearly unable to breath through my grief.
"Don't worry Baby, we aren't going to let anything happen to you."
But little did I know about the horrifying smirk on his face. Or his plans for my future.

Falling in Love on the Fourth Floor - Part 6
Summary: Out of an act of desperation, you move in with a guy you kind of know who happens to have a really hot brother who lives next door.
Author’s note: getting some tension here 👀 and yes the opening scene is inspired by How I Met Your Mother. This ends on a sad note for Azzy Baby so a bit angsty
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Masterlist)
Tumblr media
Azriel isn’t surprised as his front door opens to find you bursting through it, as you had texted him about fifteen minutes ago if you could come over and tell him something. You quickly lock the door behind yourself, turning to face himself and Rhysand.
“So you guys know how Cassian and I got drunk last night after dinner,” you start before Rhys cuts you off with his hand. “Please don’t tell me Cass made it three weeks with a female roommate before having sex with her.”
You grimace at him, “ew, no.”
A look passes between Azriel and Rhys, one you can’t quite make out, but Azriel stands a bit straighter after your words.
“As I was saying - we got drunk, and after you guys left, we were walking down to go get donuts from the place on the corner when we passed a tattoo parlor and we went in.”
After the dinner with Mor last night, Feyre dropped the four of you off and you all had congregated into yours and Cassian’s apartment. You were tipsy for most of the night, Rhys and Az had the slightest hint of a buzz, and Cassian was bordering on blackout because he “wanted to take advantage of not doing anything the next day”.
Your mention of a tattoo parlor got their attention very quickly. You start giggling then, jumping up and down at what you have to tell them. You can’t contain your excitement as you blurt out, “Cassian got a tramp stamp and I don’t think he remembers it.”
They both look at you in shocked silence then start laughing. They start asking a million questions - “what is it? What color is it?” After a minute you tell them, “he’s awake and I know he’ll be over any minute - we have to remain calm. You need to see it.”
You turn back, unlocking the door for Cassian. The three of you wait in pained silence until you hear the knob turning, prompting you and Rhys to begin two completely different conversations to fill the silence.
“So like I said she was hot-“
“My professor is a jackass who wouldn’t -“
Cassian walks in, too hungover to notice the conflicting dialogues. He walks in shirtless and you start practically buzzing in excitement. You send warning glares to his brothers, trying to communicate, “please please please you need to see it before you say anything”.
Cassian groans a greeting to you three, walking past the three of you to open the fridge door. As he searches for whatever it is he wants, the three of you crowd behind him to look at the little blue candy heart that says “babygirl” in pink script tattooed just above his ass.
Rhys shoves his fingers in his mouth to keep from laughing and Azriel’s about to break when you slap a hand over his mouth. You all try so hard to keep from laughing, which makes it that much harder to restrain yourselves.
Rhys cracks first, unable to stop himself as he asks, “are you lost, babygirl,” referencing that godsawful 365 Days movie Cassian made you all watch a few days ago.
The three of you lose it, and Azriel collapses to the floor in giggles, taking you with him. From the ground you watch Cassian’s confused brain try to make sense of why you all were laughing so hard when Rhys slaps right where the fresh tattoo lied and Cassian yelps in pain.
“Oh gods, why does that hurt so much?” He stills, running straight for Azriel’s bathroom. The three of you follow, standing outside the door listening for Cassian’s moment of realization. He screams in shock, running back out, pointing a finger at you.
“You did this!”
“Me?” You ask, between giggles, “I think it was you, babygirl.”
That sends Azriel over the edge again, and he starts giggling into your hair.
“I’m getting it removed asap,” Cassian grounds out, storming out the apartment, leaving the three of you to giggle and mock him a bit more.
-
The week goes by in a blur of classes and project work. You don’t see much of Azriel, but the two of you text frequently after sending him that first message about Cassian’s tattoo.
The two of you would send photos of valentine’s hearts to each other, clearly mocking Cassian, asking, “would this look good on my chest?”
You had spent most of the week glued to your phone, waiting for his responses. Feyre even got mad at you when you had dinner at her place on Wednesday because you kept glancing at your phone while she was telling you something.
You began apologizing, telling her about you and Az texting, when her own phone buzzed taking away her attention. You had sat back as her gaze moved to her phone, hands itching to respond to Rhysand.
“Go on,” you told her, “pot calling the kettle back, I see.”
Today was Friday, so you didn’t have any classes, however you did spend the day TAing for several Organic Chemistry labs, the first of which had Rhysand in it. He had offered to drive you to campus, and after dinner with Feyre, you’re wondering if it’s just so he can talk to you about your friend.
You walked into their apartment, ready to meet Rhysand when you were met with a beautiful girl on their couch. She had long blonde hair in a nest braid on her head, and her silver eyes pierced you as you entered the apartment.
You look around, checking that you’re in the right apartment, and offer her a small smile, trying not to look as shocked as you feel as you shut the door behind yourself.
Was Rhys seeing someone?
She tells you, “I’m Nesta,” and you nod, offering her your own name back. She quirks a small smile at that, leaning back in the seat. “Interesting,” she says, “you’re just like Azriel described.” Her eyes roam up and down your body, and her face remains neutral, not giving you any hint of what she sees.
You want to know more about how Azriel had described you, when the man in question comes out of his room and stops at the sight of you talking to Nesta.
“Hey,” he tells you, and you’re too focused on watching him to notice Nesta roll her eyes at how much he had deepened his voice. She starts to say something, and he realizes it, strolling over to give her his notebook to keep her quiet.
The teasing words die on her tongue, replaced by words of gratitude. Azriel breaks eye contact with her to see you’ve started to stand, saying, “I’m gonna go wait outside - uh clearly you have company.”
Azriel looks at you, your face riddled with confusion and something else he can’t quite place.
“No, don’t worry. I was just leaving. I’ll see you tonight?” She asks, turning back to Azriel, “7?”
You wince at the date they’ve made, and Azriel definitely notices. He nods, “yeah, I’ll see you.”
He walks her to the door, before turning back to you, an interesting look on your face.
“She’s uh nice,” you stammer out, heart beating wildly once he shuts the door behind her.
Of course someone as pretty as Azriel needs someone as striking as Nesta. Were you a fool this whole time? To consider he might harbor affections for you? Was all the texting just niceties between neighbors?
“Not to new people she isn’t,” he replies, hands in his pockets, rocking back and forth on his feet.
“She was nice to me,” which makes it ten times harder for you to hate her. Your face flushed with embarrassment at having read this whole situation wrong. You are internally pleading with any force in the universe to make Rhys hurry up so you can bury yourself in shame and embarrassment away from Azriel.
“Well that’s because-“ but the words die on his tongue, as Rhys strolls out of his room, clearly hearing your prayers.
“Oh there you are, come on let’s go,” he tells you, grabbing his bookbag, snapping at you like you’re the problem, “we’re going to be late.”
Azriel’s brows furrow, “where are you two headed off to?”
Rhys smiles, “didn’t you know? She’s my lovely TA for O Chem lab.”
-
Azriel pulled up to the building later that night, hopping off his bike after spending hours with Nesta at the library. She was doing a minor in computer science, so she was taking the same electives as Azriel and they met weekly to do their homework together.
Tonight’s topic for review was all about you and how Nesta is certain that you were jealous of her sitting in his apartment and she was equally certain that any man in a city block would be lining up to ask you out.
“Don’t wait too long, Az,” she had told him as they walked towards the parking lot, mostly empty due to how early it was in the semester and the late hour. “She’s awfully pretty and smart. I’d date her.”
She smirked at Azriel’s disapproving look, thanking him for the notes from yesterday’s lecture.
Nesta’s words ring in his head as he spots you at the door of your building, a little black dress adorning your body. He walks closer, opting to leave his helmet on, eyes glued to how the dress covers your curves, and it takes a moment to realize that you’re with someone.
And not just anyone.
A guy. Some guy. Some guy that wasn’t himself.
Fuck, he thinks.
Did he have it all wrong? Were you seeing someone - responding to his texts because of pity? You had been so nice - were you just this nice to everyone? The subtle touches, the quick glances, did he make them all up?
He hadn’t thought much of your lack of communication today - you had told him previously that Fridays are a busy day for you, but now he knows you likely spent the afternoon getting ready for this date.
He keeps the helmet on as he walks past, not even hearing your conversation with the guy. He tries to keep himself from being noticed as he walks right past you, the scent of vanilla and flowers hitting him. He walks through the lobby, straight into the waiting elevator.
His fingers stay pressed on the button that leads to your floor, moving to stay pressed on the “close doors” button. He can’t stomach the sight of you two, and he certainly can’t stomach sharing an elevator with you two, forced into making small talk with your date.
His thoughts whirl and swirl with the texts you had been exchanging all week since you all had dinner together as he leans his helmeted head against the closed elevator doors. Jokes shared between you two into the odd hours of the night.
He couldn’t remember the last time he had stayed up texting someone, not wanting to go to sleep for fear of ending the conversation. He thought he had even heard you laughing through the wall at his dumb jokes. He had even fallen asleep while waiting for your response last night, his phone unlocked next to his face to your chain of texts the first thing he saw that morning.
The doors to the elevator open and he walks to his apartment, unlocking the door, and trudging into his room. He pulls off his helmet, chucking it somewhere in his room. He replaces it with his headphones, cranking the volume up as loud as it will go, to drown out any noise that could filter in from the apartment next door.

Twice The Fun
You were squealing like a little school girl, when you opened your package. After removing the wrapping paper, the royal blue fabric greeted you. The polyester was soft between your fingers, when you took the shirt from the box.
You smiled.
Another piece for your collection. Immediately after seeing the transfer announcement on his instagram, you went to the FC Chelsea website and placed your order.
Scrunching your nose at the chemical smell, you cut the labels and put it in the washing machine. 20 Minutes and it will smell fresh as ever.
His jerseys held a special place in your closet, right behind your dresses and blouses. All of them neatly hung up on black coat hangers, sorted by club and season. You started collecting them long before meeting Pedri, who wasn't exactly fond of your little obsession with Chelsea's new striker starlet.
So when you sat on the couch two days later, watching Chelsea's Champions League match and Pedri came home from practice, he gave you a cold stare instead of the usual kiss. All because of that damn name on the back of the jersey.
"So you're a Chelsea fan now ?" Your boyfriend asked mockingly, sitting down next to you.
You smirked. "Only until the end of the season, then I can watch him beat your ass in LaLiga again"
"I should bend you over and give your ass a little beating for talking to me like that" Pedri replied, obviously pissed off.
"I really don't get why you're so jealous. I'm just a fan" you poked his chest playfully.
"I'm not jealous! João Felix is a fucking arrogant asshole, who thinks he's the next Ronaldo just bc he scored a few goals. You shouldn't sit here, wearing his jersey." Pedri crossed his arms.
You decided to push his buttons a little more. "and yet he's there playing Champions League and you sit here, exhausted from extra training, because you disqualified from Europa League"
The midfielder rolled his eyes. "If he's so great then why aren't you there with him ? I bet you'd let him fuck you after the match, the way you're jumping up and down just because he hit the crossbar. Any 4th grader would've scored that."
"If you had asked me in 2019 I'd tell you yes. I thought his braces were really hot" you admitted, focus back on the TV.
Pedri laughed. "His braces ?" You joined in, glad he lightened his mood.
"What can I say I am obsessed"
He looked at you, raising a brow. "So you're telling me you didn't think about it recently"
"If I say I did, will you get a pissed again ?" you nudged his shoulder.
You leaned close to his ear, not waiting for a reply. "Because I did, but don't worry, only when Barcelona played against Atletico. Twice the fun, right ?"
-
Teasing Pedri with João wasn't your best choice. You boyfriend had been acting annoyed all week and ignored your affectionate tries to lighten him up. You decided to surprise and apologize to him.
Pedri had a new campaign photoshoot with Adidas today, meaning he would probably come home late.
You dimmed the light in your shared bedroom and lit a few tea lights to set the mood. Pedri loved it when you wore lingerie and you had just found the right set on your shopping trip today. It came with a matching robe which wouldn't make you feel too naked. The color was a soft red, powdery and not to bright, complimenting your skin tone.
The thought of Pedri's lips teasing your skin as he slowly took the lace of your body made you shiver in delight. He wouldn't be able to resist you.
Putting on some light makeup, you heard the lock turning. You quickly applied some last layers of mascara and went to the hallway.
You jumped into your boyfriends arms, pulling him into a heated kiss. His hands caught your waist under the robe caressing your hips. Your fingers caressed his cheek as you broke the kiss, staring into his deep brown eyes.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have teased you. I'm more obsessed with you than with João." you said, hoping he'd accept it.
"Didn't sound like that when Pedri told me about it." a voice with familiar accent stated. You know that voice.
You let go of your boyfriend to see if your guess was right, but it couldn't be. You must be hallucinating.
João Félix was standing in your hallway. He wore a beige oversized t-shirt with the logo of some designer brand and light ripped jeans. You looked back and forth between the Portuguese and Pedri.
So many questions ran through your mind.
"I wanted to apologize for being an asshole and Félix and I did the photoshoot together so I invited him to meet you since you love him so much." Pedri explained, pushing you a little towards João.
"I- ummm. Hey." the blush that decorated your face and neck must make you look like a beet.
"Hey." João smiled at you and checked out your outfit. Realizing you were still only wearing the rather revealing set of underwear, you wrapped the robe around yourself.
"I'll umm go change." The presence of João made you forget how to think properly.
"No need to. Red is my favourite color, but I'm sure you know that." João said teasingly, a smirk curling on his lips. His hand caught your arm, holding you from leaving.
You stopped in your tracks and you were sure you forgot how to breathe for a second. Did he just flirt with you ?
His grip on your arm was firm but soft. It made your whole body shiver. You turned your head to see Pedri's reaction. He must be fuming.
To your surprise you're easily provoked sweetheart was watching the scenery without a hint of anger or annoyance.
"You do look irresistible. What a nice surprise-" Pedri looked at João and winked. "- for both of us."
You shot a confused look towards Pedri, about to ask what he was up to when he walked towards you. Trapped between the two footballers, you swallowed.
"Isn't this what you dreamed about, princesa ? Twice the fun. Remember ?" His voice went straight to your core, soaking your panties.
Of course you remembered. The thought of both Pedri and João touching you helped you fall asleep many nights, but that was it. Just a fantasy.
João moved his hand to undo your robe. He slightly towered over you due to his height, lips almost touching your temple. You leaned into him, inviting him to go further.
Pedri slipped his hand inside your panties. The pads of his fingers finding you wet and needy.
If you thought about what was happening right now, you'd probably laugh, but you couldn't rationally think right now. João's and Pedri's hands on your body was all you could think about.
João discarded your robe and opened your bra with a flick of his fingers.
"You're so pretty." he whispered. His voice was drowned in arousal.
You wanted to speak up, but he cupped your breasts and massaged them, which had you moaning instead. Your boyfriend started to kiss your neck.
Somewhere between João teasing your now hardened nipples and Pedri having two fingers pumping in and out of you, the three of you ended up in the bedroom.
You were sitting on the edge of the bed and watched as João took his shirt off. His skin was tan and his muscles defined. He sat next to you on the duvet and Pedri encouraged you to be more confident.
João caressed your hair as you opened the fly of his jeans. His long fingers combed through the strands and he leaned back a little. His dark brown eyes watched you intensely. Your hand reached inside his boxers.
He was hard and warm in your hand. The other found leverage on his knee. João let out a breathy moan when you started to move your hand up and down, spreading the precum leaking at the tip. His hand wrapped around yours to tighten your grip around him, teaching you how he'd like it.
You moved your sitting position to kneel beside him on the bed. The wetness between your thighs felt sticky and you rotated your hips slightly to create some friction.
"Put me inside your mouth, amor." The striker whispered, hand wrapped around the back of your neck.
Strong hands pulled at your hips as you leaned down. Pedri's hand sneaked inside your panties again, finding your pulsing clit.
You let spit run over João's tip, covering his shaft, before taking him. Teasing the head by tracing the small furrow on the underside with your tongue made him call out your name. You clenched your thighs.
Your boyfriend pulled your legs apart with one hand, keeping them apart with one knee. Pedri kneeled behind you. His hips flush with your ass. He must've taken his pants off, because you felt his hot skin on yours.
João's other hand started to play with your hair again as he watched you take more of his cock.
"That's perfect, take all of me." he praised you, slightly pushing your head down by the neck. He added just enough pressure to make you press yourself against Pedri's erection. The midfilder let go of your hip to play with one of your nipples. Pulling and twisting it, making it harder not to grind against him.
Removing your hand from João's shaft, you grasped his shoulder. The hand on his knee moved to play with his balls. They were full and heavy and João thrust his hips up, making you gag.
Tears formed in your eyes from the burning sensation in your throat. João found a fast pace with his hips, hitting the back off your throat repeatedly. You were on the edge with Pedri rubbing your sensitive spot.
You came with tears and spit running from your face, still swallowing João's cock.
Pedri pulled you up and João wiped your tears with his thumbs. Pedri held you to him and kissed your flushed cheek.
"That was so hot, princesa. Can't wait to be inside of you." he said, lips warm against your face.
João's warmth disappeared as he got up to take his pants off, but you stopped him. Reaching forward you pulled his jeans and briefs now all the way down.
His thighs looked strong as he walked towards you. He turned to Pedri, asking him something in Portuguese which you didn't understand. Pedri laughed and nodded, replying.
João went over to one of your drawers but before you could see what he did, Pedri pulled you into a kiss. His tongue massaged yours and his hand intertwined with yours. You reached under his shirt, feeling the muscles of his six pack.
The midfielder broke the kiss to take his shirt off, only his boxers covering him now. You wanted to please him. He shouldn't have to watch you have fun with João, even though Pedri had encouraged all of this.
"Lay down." he whispered and grabbed some pillows from the headboard.
As you were getting comfortable, Pedri positioned one pillow beneath your head and one beneath your ass. His hands explored your body doing so, touches lingering longer than needed. It got you excited all over again.
The bed dipped beside you as Joao came back. His hands travelled from your knees to the dip of your waist, spreading them in the motion. He hooked his fingers into your panties and slid them off you. His hand immediately cupped your exposed pussy and you bucked into him.
He watched you squirm, lips slightly parted and moved to lay beside you. His lips left butterfly kisses on your shoulder, goosebumps erupting on your skin. Two of his long fingers entered you, making you arch into the pillows.
After discarding his briefs, Pedri appeared on your other side. He whispered declarations of love into your neck. You felt something cold on your wet folds and hissed. João pulled his fingers out, spreading the cold liquid over your sensitive pussy, before moving them back inside.
At least you thought so, but his digits only teased your entrance before guiding them lower. His middle finger teased the little ring of muscles, making you shriek in shock. He stopped.
Pedri caressed your cheek and pressed his forehead against yours.
"I'll be careful. You'll like it if you relax." João mumbled against your shoulder.
Your boyfriend moved his hands down your lower stomach to find you're prepared and dripping. He easily slid his fingers inside.
"I'm here, mi vida. I've got you." Pedri said, curling his fingers. You cuddled into him. "We've got you."
Pedri made you feel safe.
João moved slightly atop of you. His free hand exploring your chest and his lips followed. When he teased your nipple with his tongue, he continued to massage your back entrance.
This time you relaxed, enjoying the new sensations. The tip of his finger slipped inside as Pedri found your sweet spot inside of you.
You felt your orgasm building up and Joao pressed further inside. He slowly started to move in and out, reaching hidden spots.
The name on your lips was now his. He chuckled against your breast. "I told you you'll like it."
Pedri circled your clit, wanting you to reach your peak. He had you clenching uncontrollably around him in seconds. João took the opportunity to slip a second finger inside of you. You barely even noticed it, being focused on the electricity making your body spasm. He bit down on your nipple.
Now focusing on your other breast, he increased the pace of his fingers and Pedri, too, continued the play of his fingers.
"Hermosa, you're a sight." Pedri moaned against your lips. His sweaty hair stuck to his forehead. His cheeks were flushed. He looked so sexy when he was aroused, you almost started drooling.
João looked up at you from your chest, releasing your abused bud with a pop. "I think you're ready to take my cock now, amor."
He cocked his eyebrow and smirked. Removing his fingers, he crawled next to you. Pedri guided you to lay on your side, facing him. Your boyfriend handed João the lube again.
Your heart thumbed in your chest. You had never experienced this much pleasure. Pedri hooked your leg over his waist, pulling you closer.
Finally you could feel his cock against you. You were impossibly wet, his tip immediately slipping inside, being pressed flush.
Pedri fucked you in a static pace, enough to make you moan, but not enough to make you come. His face pressed into your chest, hands spreading your cheeks for João.
You clawed at Pedri's back, surely leaving bruises. Arching your back into him, he increased the speed of his hips. You barely even noticed João entering your backside. He felt big, too big to make this pleasurable, but these two had proved you wrong before.
Guiding his cock further, he moaned your name into your neck. His hands held your hips in a vice grip. He filled you out completely, waiting for you to get used to the feeling.
Your hand found his and he slightly intertwined your fingers, resting them on your hip.
"You're doing so well, amor. Taking two cocks at the same time." João kissed your shoulder.
You couldn't quite register what he said, your thoughts and feelings overwhelmed by the intense pleasure. Your face felt sticky as you pressed it into the pillow. You didn't know if it was from the tears or the sweat.
Pedri groaned into your chest as João started to move. They must feel each other pleasuring you. After a few thrusts the two synchronized each other. The sounds coming from your mouth were pure and raw desire.
"This feels so good, makes me think we should invite him more often. What do you think, cariño ?" Pedri toyed with your nipple between his teeth, making you nod and scream out in pleasure. He never had a better idea.
João grinned against your neck and moved your joined hands to your middle. He let go of your fingers, but you trapped his hand in a vice grip. His fingers found your clit, drawing figure eights.
The third orgasm of the night crashed over you in waves. It felt even better than the first two.
Expecting the boys to come inside of you, you tried to move your hips, riding out your orgasm.
They had other plans, as João carefully pulled out and detached himself from his hugging position against you. Pedri followed and slid up to the headboard.
His crotch was now at level with your face, cock glistening with your juices. You felt João's hands guide you on all fours above Pedri, repositioning the pillow under your pelvis.
João slipped inside your pussy with ease, filling you to the brim. You clenched around him greedily accepting his hard thrusts. His balls slapped against your throbbing clit.
Pedri jerked his cock, guiding your head onto him by holding your hair in his hand at the back of your skull. Taking him fully, he moved the hand from his manhood to rest comfortably on the pillows behind his neck.
Before you got to enjoy to blow your boyfriend, João released himself inside you. He pulled out, spilling some of his cum on your pussy and ass.
This didn't bother you enough to stop sucking Pedri off. His cock was familiar between your lips and you knew exactly how to move to get him to lose control.
João didn't let go of your hips. His fingers spread his cum over your core and found your clit again. The striker soon had you coming for a fourth time.
The vibrating moans at the back of your throat, brought Pedri over the edge. He thrust his hips into your mouth until he was spent. His cum tasted salty, but nice. You liked swallowing him.
Climbing off him, you laid on your back exhausted. Pedri turned to pull you into him. João left into the small attached bathroom.
After getting a washcloth he kneeled between your thighs, softly cleaning you up.
"If Pedri doesn't mind, I'd like to hear more about your little obsession with me, amor."
A/N: Finally I built up the confidence to post this!
Special love and thanks go to @pedrisgatorade & @simpingmyassoff who were so kind to read this over! You're the best!
I really hope you enjoy this and leave me a comment 💕🫣
Love you❤️

santa claus and his treats | satoru gojo x f!reader pt.1 of christmas event! wc: 3.4k oops i went overboard | cw: petnames, literally j pure fluff ur both STUPID in love, he’s the cutest! happy birthday pretty boy 🧸
Tumblr media
"'toru?" you called, voice filling the dimly lit room as you peeked your head in through the door. the curtains were drawn, the iridescent green tinsel dotted with soft yellow lights framing the doorway of your bedroom scratching your neck as you spotted the white-haired boy sitting on your shared bed, picking at something on his lower lip.
you took a moment to drink in the sight— his soft white hair that fell over dazzling sky-blue eyes, the color of the lake dotted with fragile crystalline snowflakes that melted into fresh spring streams that fed nature with new growth and fresh flower buds, a tangible warmth when his gaze fell on you and an easy smile stretched across his pink lips. a little too easy, you think. easy enough for you to miss the way he swipes a coffee brown crumb from his cheek; the smile has too much sugar and cream for you to buy it.
your eyes slowly drift from his charming grin to the rest of the room. there's a forest green tuft of leaves hanging from the ceiling on a thin golden string; you recognize the crimson red berries and waxed leaves with spots of pearl dotting as a bunch of mistletoe, hanging right over the mattress. clearly, he thought ahead.
you snuff the flush from your cheeks as he perks up at the sight of you, straightening his back. "hey, baby! you must be my present from santa this year," he laughs, holding his arms out, an invitation for you to crawl into his arms and curl up on his lap like two warm cats by the fireplace. you almost gave in— until you remembered why you were looking for him.
"you're getting coal this time, satoru." you said, huffing as you walked over to the mattress and put your hands on your hips, attempting to come off as intimidating in front of your boyfriend as you leaned over and stared down at him. he just giggled that sweet, boyish laughter of his, scooting closer and capturing you between two strong arms to tug you onto the bed with him. the sheets were soft, and they smelled like him as he pulled you onto his lap and cuddled you like a life-sized plushie, all warmth and soft comfort that he craved so much.
"aww, really? but it's my birthday today," he sighed loudly, shaking his head as he firmly planted his hands on either side of your head to prevent you from worming away and planting a loud smooch on the top of your hair, before laughing as you pulled away from his grasp and gave him a glare. “besides, you’re anything but a bad gift.” he smiles.
“don’t sweet talk me, ‘toru. you’ve been naughty this year.” he wiggles his eyebrows at that, and you shoot him a sharp glare which just earns you a light scoff, but there’s a smile mirrored on both of your lips.
(maybe they’ve met so many times in the past that they know how to copy the other flawlessly.)
"but you're already here, my love. lookin' all pretty like the angel on top of our tree." he hums, crossing his legs and holding his ankles as he rocks back and forth; the teddy bear he won you from the arcade on your first date is face planted into the pillows by his side, donning a festive red santa hat. the white fluffy pom pom looks like satoru's hair, and you stifle a laugh at the thought.
"how kind of you, satoru." and you mean it— he looks like his own christmas angel; snowy hair and pretty blue eyes clad in a loose black tee with cheap printed red and green christmas lights over his chest. he looks unfairly attractive with those gray sweatpants on, too. you wouldn't mind wrapping him up in yellow ribbon and presenting him to your parents this year as your holiday present from santa, and then having your own fun with him later. you suppose you must've been perfectly good to land him; so pretty and fun, bubbling laughter that speaks of his care in volumes. and he’s their soon-to-be son-in-law, after all. and he’s a golden catch.
but it’s time for this white betta to be put in his place; he’s gone snooping where he shouldn’t have— or rather, scavenging would be the more appropriate choice. and he’s about to be skinned for entering the lion(fish)'s den. your matching red-green plaid pajama pants won't save him this time.
"sorry, baby, but you can't talk yourself out of this one." you said firmly, scooting closer to him as you sat back on your knees and gave him a look as pointed and narrow as the icicles melting on the frosted awnings. to anyone else, you might look like a wet, angry cat— but to satoru, it was enough to strike fear straight into the center of his heart. his fight-or-flight response kicked in (it only ever did with you)— and it was as if you could see the change in his demeanor. his eyes voluntarily softened, lids drooping as a lazy smile drifted over his lips like fluffy white clouds over a pale sun on a winter's morning.
"aww, don't be like that. my princess looks so much prettier when she's happy," he coos, all milk and honey as he reaches out and catches your wrist, rubbing his thumb over your pulse beating beneath your soft skin as he brings it to his lips and kisses your knuckles. so he chooses to fight, and you almost fold— almost.
you twist your arm in his grasp, eliciting a whiny yelp of pain; getting him to let go of you as you quickly flick his forehead. even so, he lets you-- he never turns infinity on around you, even at the price of his own sanctity.
you sighed when he gave you a dramatic pout, sticking out his bottom lip as he hung his head low in defeat like a golden retriever being scolded by his owner, soft hair falling over his pretty blues. his hands come up to cradle his head, rubbing the spot where you'd knicked him. "don't play around, satoru. where are the cookies i baked last night?" you asked, reflecting his frown with a pointed glare. if looks could cut, he'd be a red christmas on the cloudlike sheets. you were tired of beating around the bush, especially when satoru had a knack for making it utterly exhausting. nevertheless, it went on.
"maybe santa came early," he quipped, giggling at his own joke. "you never know, huh? he's an unpredictable old geezer. likes his milk and cookies, or so i heard."
"didn't know santa claus had the six eyes." you deadpanned, crossing your arms over your chest and looking him square in the eyes. "and he shaved his beard off, apparently." he feigns hurt, holding a hand over his heart in mock anguish.
"i'm no thief! it hurts me to know you think of me so low, sweetheart." he sighs dramatically, shaking his head. outside, the snowy wind howls in agreement. "besides, it's my birthday. you're suffocating the spirit, honey." he drawls.
you just roll your eyes at that, crossing your arms and shifting to sit closer to him. you will your irritated expression to soften, and it's reflected in the way satoru immediately relaxes, shoulders sagging as the anxious look in his eyes vanishes like the wilting ghost of fall on a christmas eve, leaving behind the scent of bluebells and frost on the wind. he thinks you've forgiven him.
that's just what you need. for him to let his guard down so you can spring the trap on him. santa may be able to get away with his yearly trespassing, but satoru's entered the property of more than your heart this time, and it's time for his holiday retribution.
"give me your hand, satoru." you said softly, voice barely a breath above a whisper. he obliges almost immediately, scooting closer on the bed so that his knees graze against yours, and you hear him suck in a little breath at the contact as your hand finds his.
you take his palm in your own; his hands are considerably bigger than yours, but you still manage to run a thumb over the ridges of his knuckles, gently massaging the soft skin over weary bones. a sweet little noise leaves his breathless lips; it's almost like a purr, and when you glance up at him he's almost as red as the glittering velvet bulbs dangling from the primmed branches of your christmas tree. he looks away, a subtle pout weighing down on his lips as he coughs loudly, as if the amber sap of a pine tree has caught in his throat, scratchy like tree bark.
"what are you doing?" he whispers, voice rough and hoarse, like someone took a fireplace stoker and poked his throat. almost a protest.
but you can feel him melting into you, and soon enough, he’s sandwiched you between his warmth and the fluffy blankets, the scent of apples and cinnamon weaved between the strands of his soft white hair as they tickle your flushed skin. his lips are soft and pliant and warm against your own; he's all over you, hands finding your wrists to trace tender, wobbly circles over your thrumming pulse with his thumb. he's robbing your lungs of air, needy in the way he cages you between his lanky limbs, lock and key with his free hand threading through your hair. he can never get enough of you, and he throws his inhibitions to the frostbitten wind if they mean learning to resist you.
it's spread around you like ripples on the surface of a misty lake, and when he draws away to stare down at you, eyes blown wide with a certain shine in his eye that reminds you of glowing embers, jumping from the lively blossom of fire on the grated dark metal of a hearth, there's a cheeky lopsided grin on his glossy lips. his fingers are slender, pale and callused, a gentle flushed at the tips.
"there was a mistletoe," he says breathlessly, as if that'll excuse him. as if he needs an excuse to kiss you. you just laugh, reaching up to trace his jaw with a finger, and he shudders despite the heater inside your room. the bunch of green leaves and red berries hanging above you sways in agreement.
but you can't focus on the dreamy look on his face; that lazy smile that dances over his lips and illuminates his features like twinkling christmas lights catching on each edge of a carefully cut snowflake, the sky's jewels. every time he looks at you as if you've crafted each intricacy of his world; patched the colors together and taught the light to reflect, you feel as though there are bubbles in your throat, and you have to cough them away when they're accompanied by a familiar rush of heat to your face.
it's all overpowered. strongly, by the rich taste of cinnamon. rich, sweet, distinctly festive, mixed with brown sugar and cookie batter; flour on the matching aprons satoru bought for the two of you, except the 'he' on 'he cooks' has been messily crossed out and replaced with a scribble that says 'she', and vice versa. it's on his tongue, his lips, the little dips on the corner of his mouth that makes him look like a kitten every time he grins. it tastes like wearing matching christmas sweaters, sampling sweet treats fresh out of the oven and laughing cheerily in your little cozy kitchen of warmth when he burns his tongue, a sour look on his face that wrinkles his nosebridge.
but, most importantly, it tastes like condemnation.
you sit up, briefly (and painfully) knocking foreheads with him when he's too slow to mirror your actions, but the complaint that's ready to stain the air like chimney soot dies on his tongue when he sees the look on your face. you look the same as you did the first time you found out he'd forgotten to pick up megumi and tsumiki from school. in other words, pissed.
"hey, pretty girl. you should smile; you look less like an ogre when you do—" he hastily starts, laughing nervously as he runs his hands through his messy hair. you've noticed that whenever you neglect to toy with the silky soft strands when you're tangled with him, whether it be kissing, cuddling, or... something else, he'll do it afterward as if to emulate the feeling of your fingers in his hair, even if it 'screws it up'. apparently, his skyscraper ego is too fragile to ask for headscratches.
"just a minute, satoru." you cut him off through gritted teeth, lips that should be stretched in a wide smile pressed together in frustration. your eyes narrow as you straighten up, sitting back on your ankles. "you ate them, didn't you?" your fingers dig into his skin, pinching his cheek. if his skin wasn't already stained crimson with boyish excitement, it would be an angry red now. you give killer pinches; he knows firsthand.
which is why he should've thought ahead and listened to the angel on his shoulder when you were knocked out earlier, curled up in a fluffy blanket on the couch, snoozing away. what was he to do? the cookies you'd made were calling his name. and it was for his birthday, and they were made for him. so why couldn't he indulge?
this was why.
and you know you've pinned him with your accusation like a throwing dart on a cork board; the way his gaze bounces around the room and his smile turns a hint sheepish and a handful guilty speaks volumes enough before he can even protest. but he can feel your wrath like an entire mine's worth of coal in his stockings, so he quickly throws his hands up, shimmying away from your angry pinch. the sheets bunch beneath him.
"listen, sweets, i just thought that— well, i'm sorry, baby, they just looked so good. and i only ate a few! i swear." satoru says solemnly, getting on his knees and throwing himself before you. he knows you're unamused— sitting there, crosslegged, looking down at him as if he's some chewed up gum you found on the bottom of your shoe. he might as well be. blueberry flavored, maybe? or mint, he's fine with that too—
"so you did." you just sigh, flicking his hunched shoulders, before you go soft again, and he sees pink. you reach forward, fingers creeping beneath his chin to tilt his face up. his skin is soft and warm beneath your skin, thrumming with a life and heat the poor overworked radiator in your room could never measure up to. and when he does look up, his starstruck gaze meets your own; you look ethereal in the warm light, and he wonders why he hasn't put a ring on your finger or started a family with you yet. maybe that can be the last gift to top off the cake of your overflowing knitted stocking, hanging from the kitchen counter; a mahogany box with golden hinges who's shine pales in comparison to the diamond ring in the center of the velvet.
he tucks the idea into his mental notes and grins, a cheeky flash of teeth. "so you forgive me, right?"
wrong. he should know better than to push his luck. especially when it comes to you.
the hand beneath his chin creeps up his face to squeeze his cheeks together, forcing his lips to pucker like a fish out of water as he tries to escape to no avail. you glare down at him, all needles. not at all in the holiday spirit, if you ask him. his face is squishy as a pillow beneath your fingers, and a smile resurfaces on your lips after a long struggle to keep it submerged.
he opens his mouth, no doubt to wail like a newborn, and you quickly withdraw, knowing better than to continue your assault. "geez! okay, fine. sorry. i ate them, you grinch." he grumbles, rubbing his squished cheek as he pouts and looks away, shrinking in on himself. his shirt is bundled beneath his arms, slipping off one of his shoulders to expose a pleasant flush on his neck. "seriously! you're such a killjoy. there's no fun in waiting," he smiles mischievously, wiggling his toes and nudging you with his foot. the fabric of his fuzzy reindeer socks bumps against your thigh, and you make another face at the red pom poms on the crudely-knit rudolph face.
"apologize." you emphasize each syllable, letting them fall off your tongue. they jut into his side like blows to his ribs; he falls back onto the bed for extra dramatics, letting it squeak beneath his weight.
"oh, the horror! to think that i'd be reduced to such a state—"
"satoru."
"—that i, head of the gojo clan, the honored one—”
"satoru gojo."
"should be forced to bow to such pious customs at the foot of scrooge—"
"gojo!"
you reach over to threateningly pinch him again, and he rolls away, tossing a fuzzy pillow into the air and kicking it at you like he's playing some cursed form of tennis. you scowl, catching the cushion and tossing it back at him. it lands square on his face, and he whines, crying about how you've ruined his beautiful, youthfully full, gorgeous face; how is he ever going to pretend to be santa and let pretty girls sit on his lap now? —and that one earns him another pinch to his arm.
"okay, okay! i'm sorry, my love. you're not the grinch, or scrooge, and i shouldn'tve eaten the cookies." he sighs, excruciatingly slow as he inches towards you again, wary of but wanting your warmth all the same. it's too cold to be alone this morning, anyway.
"without me." you corrected, unable to wipe the light grin from your face, and you watch as his face lights up, like a kid seeing his dream christmas present in the window display of a bright shop, hidden behind frosted glass and cold air.
he sits up again, scooting close and opening his arms once more. this time, you oblige, throwing yourself onto him and wrapping your arms around his neck. now he’s the one with his back flush against the mattress, soft as a cloud of cotton candy. he laughs, and it rumbles through his chest when his hands find the back of your head and he tucks your head beneath his chin, cradling your neck.
"without—" punctuated with a kiss to the top of your head, "you." satoru finishes, and you can hear the grin in his voice, cheery as a christmas carole. his arms snake around your waist, squeezing lightly as one hand slips beneath the hem of your shirt to gently rub your back. his fingers against your skin feels like the touch of a butterfly, wings like stained glass.
"how about this, pretty? we can make more together." he suggests, resting his chin on top of your head. you're smushed into his chest, the printed material of his christmas light t-shirt scratching your face, and the only thing you can manage to breathe is the cheap cologne you bought him (you don't understand why he uses it when he could afford the best of his own), but suddenly you can't bring yourself to mind. so you nod, and he chuckles.
"d'ya still wanna do cinnamon?" he asks softly, slipping his free hand into your hair to play with the strands, holding you close and cozy in his embrace. the burning heat of friction between your numb hands or a roaring fireplace don't compare to the warmth he brings you, soft and sweet and painfully human. and you can't really make yourself feel upset at the pretty boy with snow-white hair holding you anymore.
"nah. let's do peanut butter chocolate chip." you hum, muffled, and he laughs, hearty and full, the kind that makes his entire body tremble a little. and you can feel it, so you tilt your head up to peer up at him. there's a stray pine needle in his hair; must've been from your hazardously decorated christmas tree. he looks down at you and smiles, brushing your hair from your eyes and leaning in to kiss your forehead. it’s like a crimson wax stamp sealing his love letter to you.
he cuddles you close, tufts of his soft hair tickling your face like a tacky christmas sweater. "sounds unhealthy. but whatever you want, baby. santa's gonna give you all you ask this year." and this time, he doesn't use the mistletoe as an excuse to brush his lips against yours when you move to pick the pine needle from his hair. he smells like vanilla, swirled like espresso with a hint of cinnamon.
he may have enjoyed his cookies and milk without you, but there's nowhere else he’d rather be— no one else he'd rather share the rest of his time with, be it baking, decorating, or lazy naps in each other’s arms. after all, half the jolliness of the holiday season comes from being with you.

how would austin propose to reader?
Be mine forever?
Tumblr media
He’s been dreaming of this moment for so long and every time he saw himself doing something so over the top and special for Y/n, but then he’d take a step back and remember who he was actually dating
Austin’s had the ring for a while now and he carries it with him, just in case one moment feels just perfect
He tries not to think too hard about the time he almost lost the ring, when he forgot his jacket at a restaurant, right after he really felt like that was it, but then the food came and you started to gossip and talk and he forgot
Secretly you’ve known about the ring for just as long as he’s had it, you found it doing laundry, he had forgotten it in he pocket of his jeans and you felt the box right before you threw them in the wash.
At one point you get impatient, Austin gets impatient, his family (who gave him his moms ring) gets impatient, but he just can’t make up his mind
Until…..
One day you step into the apartment, expecting to see Austin greet you excitedly, but instead being met with silence.
Walking further you see a trail of petals leading from the main entrance to your bedroom and your heart rate picks up as you follow it.
The door is slightly cracked and you push it further, revealing the room to you.
The smell is what hits you first, fresh flowers, so many fresh flowers, flowers of all colors, pink, red, white, you name it.
You look around and you see pictures of you and Austin hanging from the ceiling, tears start to gather in your eyes as you remember all the beautiful moments
You hear footsteps and then turn around to see Austin, dressed in white and blue striped pajamas pants, chest naked and hair disheveled, he looks Devine
“Nine hundred ninety nine flowers, nine hundred ninety nine pictures, I thought we could make it a thousand?” He says giving you a pink peony to hold.
The ring is tied around it with pink ribbon and your hands shake.
“Be my wife, be my forever? I’ve been thinking of the best way to ask, but I should have just done the thing I knew you’d love the most, just us two, you and me.” His voice sounds like hot honey and you almost melt to the ground
“Yes!” You say breathless and he hugs you, lifting you off the ground and spinning you around. Placing both your feet back on the ground Austin’s shaky hands take the ring off of the flower and his delicate fingers hold your left hand up, sliding the ring on.
“A perfect fit!” You whisper absently and he chuckles. “I put it on your finger once when you were sleeping, got it resized after” you laugh at his efforts and thank whatever higher force brought such a man in your life. “I love you!” You say, kissing his nose while he’s preoccupied to look at the ring on your hand, still not believing he actually did it, he finally asked you.
“Now for the one thousand picture.” Austin says, shaking his head like waking up from a dream. You furrow your brows confused as he drags you over to the bed, telling you to sit on it. “I got the camera set up, filmed everything too!” He admits, showing you the small remote used to operate the device.
He sits on the bed with you and smiles, then he hits the button on the remote and you hear the timer of the camera going. Austin takes your left hand in both of his hands and he places a kiss on you knuckles. “ I love you forever!”

Hello! This is something I came up with since it's Valentine's Day so I thought why not write mini scenarios with BSD characters :)
It's basically what you got them and what they got you as a gift, I apologize if some are repetitive or similar, it was hard to think of completely unique gifts and reactions for everyone, but I tried my best! :)
I hope you will like it and enjoy! :D
CW/TW: none, fluff, maybe in Chuuya's part, him riding motorcycle if that's triggering for someone and a suggestive joke, in Gin's part there is a knife as a gift (i know how weird this sounds but bear with me), petnames and GN!reader, some characters might be OOC and if I forgot please anything let me know! :)
PS. I headcanon Tanizaki as a huge gamer; Tachihara as a kinder surprise egg lover and Sigma as a person who can draw really good, so bear with me🤗
*солнце моё - my sun; i thank deeply to my dear friend who helped me to think of a nickname and make it correct, you slay ily <3
Also I can do Fukuzawa, Lucy, Louisa, Fukuchi and Mori or other characters in second part if anyone wants them as well :D
I apologize for any mistakes in advance! :)
Happy Valentine's day everyone, remember to do something nice for yourself <3
Valentine's gifts || BSD characters x Reader
Decay of Angels
Nikolai Gogol
You were really excited about Nikolai and you spending Valentine's day together. You got everything ready, put on cute outfit and previously you bought him this beautiful, big painting of white birds flying in wide, blue sky and behind you wrote "As free as they are, they are still not alone. They still need shared nest and ground to rest. Thank you for being my nest and my ground." and you made him some piroshki that you've put on the table with few white candles around. You turned the picture towards the wall so he can't see it.
He finally came and you jumped on him into a huge hug.
"My, my someone missed me!" Nikolai said through sweet laughter.
"I have! Did you miss me?" you said happily, resting your head between his shoulder and neck.
"Of course darling!" he moved to give you a small kiss on your lips. You smiled and he put out a rose out of his coat, you smiled even more and rose suddenly sprayed water on your face. Nikolai's smile faded away in an instant.
"Oh no! That's a wrong one! Uh..uh..HOLD ON A SECOND!" he was nervous and he turned around as you giggled at his unusual clumsiness. He turned around after digging inside his coat and gave you a beautiful, fresh rose in your favorite color.
"It's beautiful! Thank you, love!" you smiled as you took rose out of his hand, kissing him on the cheek.
You turned around to put it in a vase.
"I don't think you want to put it there darling." Nikolai said softly and you turned around, slightly confused when you saw a huge wreath with probably 100 roses in a huge heart shape, missing only one in neatly done rows.
You gasped, it was absolutely huge and beautiful.
"Nikolai! This is...thank you so much!" you walked towards him, putting one last rose inside to complete the heart.
You gave him a strong hug, full of love and plenty of kisses on his cheeks.
He hugged you back and giggled at your reaction. You moved and looked at beautiful wreath one more time and put it down.
You took his hand to pull him over to piroshki and his eyes got wide in surprise and excitement.
"Oh! All of those for me?" he proclaimed, his voice filled with love and excitement and he took one of piroshki, immediately taking a bite and letting a huge satisfied sigh out, smile plastered all over his face.
"That's not all." you said and turned around the painting and Nikolai's eyes got wide once again, but this time more in deeply emotional manner. He started chewing slower and put down rest of his piroshki and came up to you to take a better look at the painting. He gently touched it as if he could break it.
"You have a message behind!" you giggled at him and he turned it around, taking it out of your hands to read. Once he read the message, you could swear he teared up. He got up, softly smiling at you, with little tears in corners of his eyes.
"You are right, they need nest and ground. However may I be a bird, you are my sky." he closed his eyes and pulled you into a huge hug that lasted for a very good time and kissed top of your head.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
Fyodor was never really fond of any type of holidays or special days in traditional way, until he met you. He waited for your return, put on some candles and bought you a silver necklace that had black agate stone placed on silver lineup and on that lineup it was carved "Cолнце моё".
You came home and went to hug him immediately, enjoying the atmosphere he made. He kissed you on the cheek and stroked your hair gently.
"Welcome home, darling. I have little something for you." he said softly and went to take a little, long, black leathered box to give you your gift. You opened it and saw this beautiful necklace and turned it around to see the carved, loving nickname. Your eyes widened and you feel warm.
"It's beautiful. I love it." you said in soft tone, Fyodor gently smiling at you.
"Let me put it on for you." he said and you gave him the necklace as he gently moved his fingers around your neck and put it on. You adjusted it a bit in the front, touching the black stone.
"This will go amazing with my outfit and our plans for tonight." you giggled and turned around to kiss Fyodor.
"What do you mean?" he asked a bit confused and you handed him tickets for a concert of classical music. He curiously took tickets and saw what were they for and smiled softly at you. He has been mentioning a lot how he is overworked and needed something just to let his mind relax.
"We better get ready then, love." he said and softly kissed you and both of you went to get ready, enjoying rest of your night in romantic, relaxed and loving atmosphere of the concert.
Sigma
Sigma was really nervous about this, he didn't know whole bunch of things about holidays and in general, he was new to everything but your love helped him discover and explore more of himself and the world. He wanted to make this day special and he was hoping he won't mess it up and that you will like his gift. He finally met up with you, you were holding some sort of bag, he hugged you softly, but you could feel he was nervous.
"Happy Valentine's day sweetheart..um, this is for you." he handed you what seemed like a notebook. It wasn't too thick or to thin and as you opened it you started tearing up. Notebook was filled with drawings of you, doing random things, probably when you would be with him in office and he would tell you he is doing 'paperwork' and you did something else to entertain yourself. You could also tell some were drawn from his memory only. Sigma was looking at you nervously as you flipped pages, eyes wider and wider each time.
"It's something I wanted to keep for myself, but..since it's a holiday, I thought you would like to have it." he said a bit hesitant since you weren't saying anything. You looked up at him with a huge smile on your face and closed the notebook to give him a huge hug. He was a bit shocked, but hugged you back.
"So, you like it?" he asked, soft smile on his face.
"I love it! I love you!" you said happily, hugging him thighter. Then you moved and out of bag pulled out a Sky Casino model with a note attached to the platform model was on. Sigma's eyes got wide as he took model in his hands, almost tearing up from beauty and shock. He noticed the note and took it as you took model inside your hands so he can read it.
"I know I often tell you how amazing you are, but I want you to always remember something. Sky Casino isn't what made you into a person you are, you are the person who made Sky Casino into what it is with your kind soul. I want you to always remember that when you look at this model. Happy Valentine's day, my beloved."
He read it and teared up at this point, putting the note on his heart. He gently smiled at you and put model down on the floor next to two of you so he could pull you into a hug.
"I can't bring myself to say anything else but that I love you too, Y/N."
Mushitaro Oguri
You were waiting for his return rather impatiently. You were slightly nervous about your gift, not knowning how will he react, but still, you hoped for the best. He finally arrived home carrying what seemed like his present for you and you went right into his body to hug him tightly.
"Happy Valentine's day, love." he said as he smiled at you and kissed your nose.
"Happy Valentine's day, Mushi. I missed you." you said as you hugged him for a bit longer and placed a kiss on his lips.
"I missed you too, darling." he smiled at you and gave you the bag. You were excited to see what he got you and quickly went to the living room and sat on the couch, unpacking it. You saw two small brown teddy bears, each had a bow tie, one just like Mushitaro's and other one was in your favorite one. They were holding hands and they were really fluffy. You pressed them on your chest as Mushitaro already came to see your reaction. You jumped into a hug with him and gently kissed his cheek.
"Do you like them? They are miniature of us." he smiled and you nodded.
"I love them. They are adorable! Thank you, Mushi." your eyes were bright and you kissed him on the lips. Then, you put little teddy bears down and went over for your gift. He could tell you were nervous as you handed him the wrapped box. Once he opened it he saw a game that basically was made as a crime mystery supposed to be solved.
"I know you dislike mystery, but I thought if..maybe we did it together, it will be more fun like that." you smiled shyly, not looking directly at him. This reminded him of his old friend which made him smile, but not only that. What also made him smile is that you knew the reason he disliked it and wanted to rewrite that into a good memory, something that he can actually enjoy and therefore heal. It was thoughtful, fun and really meaningful as silly as you thought your gift was.
"I love it. Let's solve it together." Mushitaro whispered as he pulled you into a hug.
"Really?" you whispered back.
"Really. It doesn't what do I do as long as it's with you, you make everything good. Thank you for that, Y/N." he smiled softly and placed a gentle kiss on your neck.
Port Mafia
Akutagawa Ryunosuke
You and Akutagawa weren't together, however after long thinking you finally decided to gift him something for Valentine's day. Obviously you were nervous, even though Akutagawa wasn't always unpleasant towards you, often times he was actually calm and well mannered, but still it was a huge thing. You made him a woven basket full of figs, his favorite teas he talked about to you and small antique painting. You were ready to go, giving yourself mental pat on the back and headed out. Little did you know.
Some time later you found Akutagawa taking his leave from Port mafia building, thankfully alone.
You nervously came up to him.
"Hello, are you busy?" you asked him, your tone low and almost cracking.
"Obviously not." Akutagawa responded in his usual tone.
"Ah right! Silly of me, um, okay, here you go." you handed out the basket, tilting your head down not to look at him.
He scanned it with his eyes and slowly took it out of your hands.
"What is this?" he asked, in his usual deep voice.
"A little something for Valentine's day. If you don't feel the same or dislike it or anything, feel free to do whatever you want with it." you barely smiled at him, your nerves taking best out of you.
"I shall leave now, see you tomorrow..or never again." you chuckled and almost started running away. Akutagawa took a look inside and smiled gently at his gift, as well as your reaction.
You came in your building, shaking and scolding yourself. However, once you reached the door you saw a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a small card on top. You were really curious about it, making you forget how nervous you were. You took a look at the card.
"I am not good with words, but I appreciate you. Hopefully, you understand. - Akutagawa"
You smiled at the note, he probably sneaked it in when you left because he was too prideful to ask anyone to do it for him and way too nervous to do it in person. You were still smiling and sent him a message making a deal for two of you to meet up and pick up where you left off.
Chuuya Nakahara
He took you on a evening ride on his motorcycle. He wasn't driving too fast, letting you enjoy the view of night lights as you held tightly around his waist.
"Where are we going?" you asked him excited and curious.
"Just a bit more patience, angel. We are almost there." he said and took a turn as you arrived to some sort of empty parking lot. You both got off the motorcycle and removed your helmets.
"What are we doing here? You are so perverted Chuu." you started giggling.
"The one who is perverted here are you, angel. I didn't have that in mind." he chuckled and took your hand as you walked towards garage doors.
"What is this, Chuu?" you asked him, not entirely sure what was he doing.
He opened the garage door and what you saw was a beautiful motorcycle that matches his. You gasped as your eyes widened.
"My gift for you, so we can do it together." Chuuya said and smiled at your reaction.
"This is insane Chuu, it's too much." you said still shocked. Indeed, Chuuya was extra but he loved you and wanted to show it as much as he humanly can.
You came up to him to hug him and kiss him and he returned it, smiling afterwards. You went to inspect the motorcycle, suddenly getting a thought.
"Um, Chuuya." you said as you were to reveal something obvious.
"What's up angel?" he asked as he came to inspect motorcycle with you.
"I don't have a licence and I don't know how to ride it." you said and looked at him with seriousness in your eyes. Chuuya stood there for a second as he was processing the information.
"Oh." he let out as he looked up at you.
"Shit. I completely forgot you need a licence for those." he said in a bit irritated voice.
"Excuse me? WERE YOU RIDING WITHOUT LICENCE NAKAHARA CHUUYA?" you yelled at him, shocked at his nonchalant attitude about that information.
"Being in Port Mafia has its benefits, you know? Not like cops will stop me. But that also means I can get you one as well." he smiled and stroked your hair.
"But I can't ride it." you said, looking up at him.
"I will teach you then. Easy as that." he smiled once more but noticed you were nervous and looking around shyly.
"What's wrong angel? You don't like it?" he asked concerned as he kept stroking your hair.
"No, no, it's not that. I love it, but..." you stopped your sentence to pull out a small hat chain you made for Chuuya that had an extenstion of mini hat, bottle and glass attached to it. You handed it to him. He looked at it and could feel himself melting inside.
"My gift is so small compared to yours and I made dinner and bought your favorite wine and made a bath for two us, but then you said this is urgent so I couldn't really pressure it.." you were saying looking down. Chuuya just moved your chin up and gave you a long, meaningful kiss. You blushed a little bit.
"It's absolutely amazing gift and I will wear it all the time. I love it and don't ever say anything you give me or do for me is small or less meaningful, angel." he smiled as he put your gift in his pocket.
"Let's head home and enjoy everything you prepared, then tomorrow we can start your lessons, sounds good?" he smiled and cupped your cheek with his hand. You nodded and hugged him thightly as he returned the hug, happier than he ever was.
Gin Akutagawa
Gin and you were fairly similar, but at the same time different, therefore complimenting each other perfectly. You worked under Black Lizard alongside with her. Two of you agreed to meet up after work to spend Valentine's day or rather evening together. Gin was waiting for you in place you both agreed on and you saw her in casual outfit which made you giggle because she was so beautiful.
You walked up to her and you gave her a kiss as she blushed a bit, more nervous than usual.
"You seem nervous babe, what's up?" you asked her, gently brushing her cheek with your fingers. She looked away and just pulled the box out of her bag and handed it out. You were curious and found her reaction really adorable. You took box out of her hands and opened it only to see one gorgeous knife in metallic red color with black handle that had your initials engraved.
You took it out, moving it a bit as light fell on it, making the color shine more. It was absolutely gorgeous.
"This is beautiful Gin, thank you so much!" you said in happy and excited voice and she opened her mouth lightly to say something when you pulled her into a hug. She hugged you back, resting her hands on your back and smiled.
"I have the same one. So we can match, you know?" she said as she was relieved you liked her gift.
"We really do think alike, don't we?" you smiled as you pulled away giving her your gift wrapped in baby pink paper.
You made her a new mask, it was in black color and on the inside you sewed small "I love you".
"That's so anytime you take it off you see it and so it can remind you of me." you smiled at her. Her eyes were full of love and she grabbed mask thighter, putting it on her chest.
"I love it. Thank you so much, I love you." she said gently and stroked your hair.
"I love you too darling and I have the same one, so another thing to match!" both of you giggled and hugged once again as you noticed people were staring at two of you, a bit scared and creeped out.
"Maybe you should put the knife back into the box, babe." Gin said through a laughter.
"Shit baby, you are right." you laughed and put knife back into the box, taking Gin's hand so two of you can go and enjoy rest of evening together.
Higuchi Ichiyō
You were having a lovely evening with Higuchi, eating amazing dinner two of you prepared together and chatted about everything and anything. Higuchi was always so lively, especially with you. You also brought her comfort no one else truly did and knew how to calm her down when she would go overboard with work and feel intense or pressured.
Gifts were common between two of you, little ways to show how you care and think of each other. Lately, you were both very busy so you didn't get much time to relax and spend time together, so this was a breath of fresh air for both of you.
"Okay, now for gifts!" Higuchi said as she was waiting for both of you to finish your dinner. You looked at her and she pushed a bag into your hands, sitting on her chair excited. You opened it and saw all sorts of candles - bigger, smaller, red, blue, yellow and few other colors, you also saw a bottle of some oil and love note. You unfolded the paper.
"I am forever thankful I've met you. You make my days brighter in ways only I can know which makes me feel really proud and special. You make feel calmness I never knew was possible to feel.
So, today I wanted to, hopefully, make you feel special and calm. I love you."
Your heart was melting and you got up from your chair and pulled Higuchi into a thight hug. She returned it, smiling into your neck.
"You always make feel special and calm, sunshine. Just existing next to you is more than enough for someone like me to feel like that." you whispered in her ear and pulled away in order to kiss her. You pulled away and slowly stroked her hair and she smiled at you, leaning in to kiss you one more time. It made you giggle and you gave her your gift. It was a small plastic sunshine frame that had picture of two of you inside. Higuchi's eyes widened and her cheeks got slightly red.
"Open it." you gestured to the back of the frame and she opened it to see a little note of you saying how she is your sunshine and how she should never forget that. She jumped on you which got you startled a bit and gave you a long, passionate kiss.
"Thank you, I will cherish this forever. Not only the photo, but you seeing me as your sunshine. I love you more than you know." she said after she pulled away and grabbed your hand to go to another room. She placed the photo on the nightstand next to the bed and gestured you to sit down. You listened, looking at her curiously.
"Give me a second, sweetheart." Higuchi said and went to grab an essential oil she got you which you learned when she came back.
"It's a lavender essential oil and I wanted to give you a massage so my little note comes to life." she smiled gently at you and you smiled back.
"Deal, but I will do same for you after." you said in soft voice and she nodded, smiling at you.
Oda Sakunosuke
This was a plan you had for some time now, but what a better chance to use than Valentine's day? You decided before Oda comes home that you will rearrange one room two of you barely used. It was supposed to be medium sized storage, but neither of you storaged anything really. So you went to work and rearranged it into Oda's new writing room. You put table and chair, made of beautiful oak and assembled few shelves on wall, as well as added some flowers and paintings to make it more comfortable and cozy. You added pens, papers, anything Oda would need for writing. You were really proud of your work. You wanted to surprise him.
Oda came home and called out for you, but didn't hear anything. He took his shoes off and called your name again with no answer. He went around the house, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom to look for you but he was met with disappointment each time.
"Over here!" you said in a bit higher voice and he could hear your giggles as he relaxed knowning you are safe and walked towards storage.
"What are you.."
"Surprise! It's a writing room for you. Happy Valentine's day darling!" you said as you jumped and stretched your arms out. Oda looked around, his face remained the same but deep inside he was shocked, touched and melted. He moved around, looking at all details you made and finally table ready with materials. He came up to you and lifted you up into a hug.
"You didn't have to do all this, you know?" he said as his hand was stroking back of your head as he was putting you down.
"You are right, but I wanted to! Do you like it?" you smiled at him.
"I absolutely adore it my love." he placed a kiss on your forehead.
"It happens I have little something for you as well." he said and took out a small box out of his pocket, handing it to you. You opened it and it was a golden ring and on the inside it had carved "My one & only."
You smiled, immediately putting it on one of your fingers. You looked up at Oda who was smiling back at you.
"I love it, thank you so much!" you exclaimed happily and jumped on him, your arms wrapping around his neck.
"You deserve everything, love, don't thank me at all." he whispered and kissed your cheek.
Ango Sakaguchi
You waited for Ango's return, he was as busy as always, overworking himself. Thankfully, he was able to get an evening off so you can spend it together. You prepared everything - dinner, ambience and a movie you will watch. You got him a neck pillow and a massager he can use on himself since you knew how much his back suffered all that work. He came home, drained and tired, but he was really happy to spend an evening with you. He took his shoes off and came up to you with a huge basket which caught your attention. It was covered with white net so you couldn't see what it was. You came up to him and gave him a big hug as he sighed out.
"It's good to be home for a change." he smiled as you looked up to him and then he leaned down to give you a kiss.
"This is for you, I hope you will like it." he pulled away and handed you the basket. You opened it up and it had literally everything related to self-care: oils, shower gel, shampoo, facemasks, body scrub, face roller, gua sha stones. It was beautiful. You smiled and put the basket down to hug him, your hands snaking around his waist.
"It's a reminder to take care of yourself. That's really important thing, you know Y/N?" he was stroking your hair and you looked up at him and his dark circles.
"That's a valuable lesson...coming from you!" you laughed at him and he softly smiled back at irony of his own words and actions.
"However! Good thing is that I had similar idea in mind when it comes to you." you gave him a wide smile and went over to give him his gift. It was in a bag so he opened it and saw neck pillow and massager suitable for self massage. He chuckled, looking softly at you.
"You know what? This is a looooot of products. I don't think I will be able to use them all on my own, so how about we share a self-care night?" you said looking up at him, earning a satisfied and relieved laugh from him.
"I can't see why not. I would love that, thank you, you are truly amazing, love." he said and you smiled back at him, two of you spending the relaxing, romantic night taking care of yourselves and each other.
Kouyou Ozaki
It was your first Valentine's day with Kouyou and two of you weren't together, however you did love her for quite some time now. Kouyou was very open about how she feels about Valentine's day and love in general. She was very hesitant and in a sense appalled by the idea of that holiday due to her experience with love. She was very vocal about how stupid she thinks it is and how people are just fools and if you "love" someone you love them every day making conclusion how people are shallow and dishonest with their feelings. You listened to her words and it made you nervous and prepared for a heartbreak, but you were ready to be heartbroken if that means she will know what you feel.
You made her a paper rose and as you would drag down the stalk of it - it would open up like it was blossoming and close back when you move it back up. You tied a little note on it and went to leave it at Kouyou's door in Port mafia. You arrived and knocked on her door, leaving the rose in front of them and went to hide, scared to see her face. She opened the door and looked down. She saw a paper rose and picked it up, noticing the note. Her face had confused expression the whole time until she read the note.
"I hope some day, just like this rose you will be able to open up and accept my love. If not mine, then someone else's, as long as you are happy. - Y/N"
She moved the rose and her eyes started watering as she was scared of all emotions that were coming out of her, thinking she burried them long time ago. She played with the rose, thinking, and you kept looking at her a bit confused. Was she happy, was she angry, was she moved by it? Did she feel the same or not?
"Come out, Y/N." Kouyou said as she closed her eyes, softly smiling. Your heart skipped a beat, but you couldn't trick Kouyou after all. You came to her, obviously nervous and on the edge. She turned her back and went into her room for a second and returned with something. She handed it to you and it was metal shaped and colored as her Golden Demon, attached to a chain. You took it, shocked and looked at her.
"I never thought I would be the one doing this. It's silly to be completely honest with you Y/N. I talked about this holiday so poorly, yet made that for you, hoping it will protect you from the distance." she looked at you.
"However, now I hope you will accept it and wear it as a confession of my feelings as well as to keep you safe and protected from any harm. Thank you for this rose and thank you for..awakening the hope and feelings inside me I thought were long lost." she stepped forward and pulled you into a kiss.
Armed Detective Agency
Dazai Osamu
You were dragging his hand, really excited.
"We can't miss this Osamu, walk faster!" you ordered him, earning a confused look and laughter from Dazai.
"Ah, ah, where are we rushing darling?" he said as his usual, teasing self.
"Not telling! Be patient, but hurry your ass up." you pulled him harder as you arrived to your destination. Dazai looked around, there were plenty of couples but you went to more isolated area.
"Now we wait." you proclaimed, holding his hand.
"For what exactly if I may ask?" Dazai looked at you confused as you stared into the sky.
"You may not! Shush it or you will miss it." you said squeezing his hand and he looked into direction you were looking at.
"Here comes yours!" you giggled, squeezing his hand harder.
Suddenly, with a loud sound, a firework appeared in shape of a heart and "I love you" in the middle, it was in bright pink color. Dazai stared at awe, this was one of the few times when he didn't know what to say. You looked at his face, it was so gentle and so genuine. His eyes got brighter and he squeezed your hand. It was a sight you could look at forever. Firework passed and his mouth were slightly opened as he looked at you, speechless.
"I customized it! I hoped you will like it and..." you couldn't finish your sentence as he pulled you in into a hug, squeezing you tightly. You hugged him back and started laughing a bit at sudeness of his reaction.
"And...I was hoping..this maybe gives you new perspective.." you continuned, muffled voice as your head was squeezed into his chest.
"No need to say anything else. I know." he squeezed you even thighter. You wanted to say something but you truly enjoyed this and it melted your heart.
He pulled away and looked into your eyes.
"That firework is how I feel when I am with you." he said in serious voice.
"You are so cheesy, Osamu." you laughed at him and gently slapped his chest. He smiled at you.
"I mean it. It's like I was reborn anytime I am with you." he gently brushed your cheek with his slender fingers.
"Stop it, I don't like when you talk like this." you said jokingly and he laughed.
"Now then.." he pulled something out of his pocket and quickly positioned it on your chest. You looked down and it was same opal stone he has. You touched it and looked at Dazai.
"Now we match. Also, this way, you see, our hearts are always connected." he smiled at you and touched his stone. He moved down and kissed you softly.
Then he pulled you into another hug.
"Also...sounds fireworks made were almost as loud as your farts, did you customize sounds too?" he pulled away, making fake amazed face.
"Dazai Osamu!" you punched his stomach.
"Ouch, ouch! You said you don't like when I am romantic, you don't like this either, it's so hard to satisfy you belladona!" he whined in dramatic voice.
"Maybe you just need to shut up, ever thought about that?" you laughed and pulled him into a kiss.
Kunikida Doppo
You were really excited about this day and your gift. Kunikida has been frowning lately because his notebook is near the end and from all work he had, he wasn't able to order new one. So you did it for him and it arrived just in time. You also wrote little note on the first page.
Now, you were walking to meet up with him at a local park as he said he wants to take you somewhere. Kunikida, on the other hand, was slightly nervous. Last year he took you in fancy restaurant and for most of your bigger celebrations. He wanted to switch it up this time out of his comfort zone. He wanted to take you in a game room so two of you can have some fun together and go out for an ice cream afterwards.
He wasn't sure how you will react to this and kind of regretted he didn't go for safer idea, but it is what it is now. He saw you coming and adjusted himself.
You spreaded your arms, running into his hug. He picked you up, returning the hug and kissed top of your head, then gave you a kiss on the lips.
"You seem really jumpy, what's the reason?" he asked with a soft smile.
"And you, Kunikida Doppo, seem really nervous, what's the reason?" you asked him playfully. Of course you would notice. He cleared his throat as his eyes gave away slight shock as confirmation of your question and wanted to speak when you cut him off suddenly.
"Maybe this will help you!" you said happily and handed him a notebook that was wrapped in paper with some animals. He took it and slowly started unwrapping it only to see his long desired notebook he wasn't able to order. He threw away the paper in trashcan and took another look, still in awe.
"Open it! There is something inside." you giggled.
He gave you a questioning look and opened it to see a dedication written from you. You wrote how you look up to him, how he inspires you every day to be a better person and as silly as his ideals can be at the times, they are still his and therefore deeply admired by you. You ended it by telling him to never change that fire in his heart and how you love him. He pushed his glasses up, closing the notebook and gently looking at you.
"You know, when I was writing who may my ideal partner be, I only had you in mind. I remember how I wished someone would be able to make me more flexible as a person or rather inspire me to see bigger picture and explore more of myself. Then you showed up and for that I am forever thankful, Y/N." he came closer to hug you and give you a kiss. You blushed at his words, unsure what to say.
You just hugged him thightly and thanked him as you pulled him into another kiss.
"You know, mister Carlylye said to send you a lot of greetings. Also, where are we going? Which resturant?" you asked him as you pulled away.
"I will make sure to send him letter tomorrow or give him a phone call if he isn't too busy. And as for where we are going, I thought about game room...if that's okay." he smiled, nervously as he waited for your reaction.
"Game room? Where did that come from?" you looked at him, a bit stunned by his plan.
"Well, I wanted to try something different, I guess. If you don't like it.."
you cut him off.
"I LOVE IT!" you gave him a big smile, putting all his worries away. He laughed a bit and you spent rest of your evening playing different games, winning or losing, it didn't matter. You had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company.
Atsushi Nakajima
You and Atsushi agreed to stay at home for Valentine's Day and have some alone time. You were finishing up chazuke you made for him as a treat for Valentine's. You came back to him and his face lit up. He was really excited and Valentine's Day with you felt surreal. He always had hard time to accept love from others given his inner turmoil. You taught him how to be more forgiving to himself, how to accept love and how to have love for himself. He still had long way to go, but he was better and every day brought new things.
"Thank you, Y/N! I really appreciate this." he said with a smile as he took bowl out of your hand and placed it in front of him.
"You are not going to eat it?" you asked him, a bit confused as he always literally dived in like there is no tomorrow. He shaked his head and got up to take something from the closet and turned around facing you.
It was a beautiful flower crown, you could tell it was a handmade. He came towards you and placed it on top of your head and smiled.
"I made it with tiny bit of help of Kyouka-chan!" he kept smiling. It truly melted your heart, anything he ever gave you was self made.
"I tried my best, I hope you like it." he said, blush covering his pale face.
"It's beautiful, you are so amazing! Thank you so much my love." you said and hugged him as he blushed, returning the hug.
"I have little something too!" you giggled and went to the other room to grab it. You came back and handed him a tiger plushie. He took it, inspecting fluffy tiger with his hands. He saw it had a small, loose collar that said "Mini Sushi".
"Mini..Sushi?" he looked at you.
"Like Mini Atsushi, but Sushi. Nickname." you smiled at him. His eyes got a bit wider and he smiled, hugging the plushie.
"Thank you, Y/N. You mean a lot to me and so does Sushi!" he smiled, genuine and warm.
"Remember anytime you are kind to him, you are also kind to yourself, Sushi." you said and went to hug him. He hugged you back as mini Sushi got squeezed between and Atsushi's eyes were soft, peaceful and loving as he understood meaning.
Ranpo Edogawa
Ranpo and you have been dating for a while now and this was your first Valentine's Day together. You knew what you will get him as soon as you started thinking of it. It was hard to surprise him and you knew that, but you hoped he will like your gift regardless. You got him a toy that looked like a machine, it was a bowl on top and on the plastic what was holding a bowl was actually few different games a person could play. Bowl had plenty of different candies inside and all you had to do is beat level in order to get it, it also had a refill which was perfect for Ranpo. You really hoped he will like it. On the other side, Ranpo understood concept of Valentine's Day, however he didn't get the point. Yosano scolded him that it's not a huge deal and gifting you something won't hurt. Ranpo did want to gift you something, that wasn't an issue, he just didn't know what. He was thinking and pouting and knew he was running out of time so he thought the best he could and got you a hat to match his. It's sweet and it also says how he loves your company when he solves crimes and mysteries.
You finally met up with each other, you came to the office as everyone else went to café and saw Ranpo there. He seemed a bit down, but you hoped your gift will cheer him up. You came to him and he got up, his face still unsatisfied. You looked at him and he just bumped his head into your chest.
"Ranpo? What's wrong?" you asked him, concerned.
"This is stupid." he said, his voice a bit sad.
"What is stupid?" you asked him, he still didn't look at you.
"This holiday. Yosano scolded me as if I didn't want to get you a gift which isn't true!" he said in annoyed voice and moved his head up facing you.
"Ranpo...you don't have to gift me anything. It's just a little holiday, if you just wished me happy Valentine's day, I will still be thankful." you were genuine.
"That's not the point." he scoffed.
"The point is, how do I tell you that I appreciate you and care for your company as well as that I enjoy when you go to solve cases with me and that you make me feel like I am not alone anymore and that I love you through a gift? And don't tell me to write a letter because I hate to do that." he looked at you. You looked at him surprised and started laughing.
"Oh my, well, just like that actually. You can tell me just like that." you smiled at him and he moved to get something out of his drawer and handed you the hat, same as his.
"Well, this hat is supposed to say it. You know, like we can match and...stuff." he looked away as you took hat out of his hand and put it on your head. He was still looking away, eyes closed when he suddenly felt a thight hug. He got surprised for a second, analysing your reaction but hugged you back.
"It's saying everything I need to know, don't worry. You also said all I needed to know." you said in soft voice.
"Really?" Ranpo asked as he wasn't really sure.
"I promise." you smiled at him, the smile he loved the most. You kissed his cheek and handed him your gift. He took it and inspected it for a while and then the biggest smile lit up his face.
"Thank you, Y/N. I really appreciate it. Now I can have more fun at work." he giggled and you laughed at him. He looked at you and put down the toy on his table and hugged you tightly.
"You look really cute with that hat, you know?" he whispered earning your smile.
"Happy Valentine's day, love." you said in soft voice.
"Happy Valentine's day, Y/N." he pulled away and you kissed, enjoying this lovely moment. Then Ranpo looked at the toy, bringing his hand closer and you noticed he just took one candy out.
"Hey! That's cheating!" you yelled at him and two of you continued this day laughing and enjoying.
Tanizaki Junchiro
Tanizaki and you made a deal to spend a day inside, nothing too fancy. You both liked comfort and cozy feeling of your own home and spending time together away from the crowds and loud city.
You arrived home with one small bag and Tanizaki came to you to greet you with a kiss.
"What took you so long? I missed you." Tanizaki said and pulled you into a hug.
"Sorry, sorry, I was picking out your gifts." you said and handed him the bag.
"Happy Valentine's day Chiro." you hugged him as he pulled out multiple games you bought, his face was shocked as those were really expensive and he gave you a look that was asking you "are you for real?" unable to say anything else.
"I save up, you know?" you elbowed him.
"Also, I thought we could play them together." you smiled at him and Tanizaki picked you up and turned to move you in the room. He placed you on the couch and started hugging and tickling you. You were laughing, trying to push him away.
"Stop, stop, why are you tickling me?" you were saying through laughter. Tanizaki got up and stopped tickling you.
"I am so happy! Thank you, those are so cool and we will have so much fun. Hold on!" he placed quick kiss on your head and came back in new pyjama and quickly sat next to you, giving you a small, blue bag. You gave him a questioning look, his face was light and his eyes sparkled, so you looked inside and saw another pyjama, matching his. Both were white and had little koalas hugging. You smiled and kissed Tanizaki.
"I will put it on right away." you said and went to change. Meanwhile, Tanizaki has set up one of the games, excited for your return. You came back and showed off how you look in new piece he got you.
"You look lovely, you are so cute Y/N!" he proclaimed as he stood up to come and hug you. He twirled you around and moved you to the set up where both of you sat down, ready to play.
"This is best Valentine's day I could ask for, thank you." he said and kissed you.
"Same goes for me, Chiro." you smiled at him and two of you spent rest of the day cozy, playing games and having fun.
Yosano Akiko
Yosano and you agreed to meet at your place and spend Valentine's day together. You prepared everything to be as romantic as possible. Yosano and you were together for some time and you wanted to make this day as special as possible. She was always kind and gentle with you even though you knew how she can get which made you melt and fall in love with her. You saw her as a woman who stood up for herself, yet treated her loved ones with the most care. Yosano could say same for you, you were the kindest, most precious person she has ever met and you loving her was an honor. That's how she felt and she wanted to make this day special for you as well.
She arrived with a small bag and you came to greet her, melting into her hug. She smiled softly and stroked your hair as you pulled away to look at her and give her a kiss.
"Someone is excited." she said lightheartedly and cupped your cheek with her soft hand.
"I am. I was so excited to see you today." you smiled at her and took her hand to move her and sit down together on the couch.
"Is that so?" she looked at you, saying teasingly.
"Yes." you looked at her full of love which made her melt at how genuine you were.
"I was excited to see you as well, my sweet Y/N." she kissed you and pulled away, gently placing a bag on your lap.
You looked at her and she nodded. You opened the bag and saw a notebook of some sort with covers in your favorite color. You opened the notebook and saw dry flowers glued on each page and next to each flower, there was a name of it as well as description of it.
"I picked all flowers that remind me of you." Yosano said as she looked at your lovestruck expression.
"This is beautiful. I truly don't know what to say, thank you so much, baby." you said as you looked up, Yosano's gentle gaze meeting yours.
"I am glad to hear that, Y/N." she smiled as you put aside the notebook, reaching under the table for a box. You handed it to her, a bit nervous. She smiled in order to calm you down and opened the box to see crystal figure in a shape of butterfly that was on lineup that said "You are an angel, my angel of everything that is good and kind."
She started tearing up, softly brushing her fingers on the sentence you designed. You waited for her to say something and she just put the figure on the table, not taking her eyes off of it and immediately pulling you into a hug.
You could feel your shoulder getting slightly wet and you hugged her thighter.
"Thank you. I love you." Yosano said through a whisper.
"I love you too." you smiled and stroked back of her head.
The Guild
Edgar Allan Poe
Two of you weren't a couple, however you were really good friends who crushed on each other. You wanted to hand your gift personally, hoping he feels the same way. You got ready and went out to head to his place in order to give him your gift. You were nervous and doubtful but if not now, then when? You just hoped you won't make this awkward between two of you or lose your friendship. It was a lot to ask for, you were aware, but still, Poe was reasonable so hopefully even if he doesn't feel the same he won't push you away. You also brought some treats for Karl.
As you walked, you felt someone watching or even following you and you turned around, but didn't see anyone who sticks out in crowd. You thought you were being paranoid and just kept walking. You arrived at more isolated area and you suddenly saw Karl jump in front of you. You backed away, startled at his sudden appearance.
"Did you smell the treats, little one?" you kneeled down to give him his treats and saw he was carrying something. It was a book and he dropped it in front of you as you handed him the treats. You opened the book as Karl munched satisfied next to you.
"I hope this doesn't ruin what we have. I have been in love with you for a very long time, Y/N. Therefore, I decided to write this for you. It contains all my feelings, like a personal diary, dedicated to you. If you don't feel the same - I completely understand. Feel free to throw it away or burn it, whatever you feel like doing, I just ask for this not to be the end of our friendship that I deeply cherish and hold dear in my heart. - E. A. Poe"
Your heart was beating so fast as you turned pages to read its and bits of what he has wrote. It was full of admiration of your personality, your beauty and time you spent together. You were shaking from how happy and excited you were. It felt surreal. You could scream right there but then Karl gently tapped your hand.
"To follow you?" you asked him and he started going in a direction behind you. You followed him and finally you saw Poe hidden behind a tree. He was literally biting his nails from anxiety and as he saw you, he got even more nervous, but was frozen in one place.
You came up to him, your face was red from excitement and your feelings for him and the fact he feels the same. You quickly gave him your gift which was small raccoon plushie that had a pocket. It had your love letter inside. Poe took it and unfolded it with clumsiness and started reading your confession. If his bangs weren't covering his eyes you would see how wide his eyes got, but shakiness of his hands told you all. Once he finished, he somehow got the strenght to look up at your face covered in impatience.
"Really?" he asked and you just came closer, pulling him into a kiss, he was shaken up at sudden movement but quickly adjusted and kissed you back.
And with this, you started your beautiful love story.
Hunting Dogs
Jouno Saigiku
Jouno and you agreed to spend Valentine's day as he was returning from a mission. You were really excited to see him and while he was away you thought about a gift that he will be able to use while away to think of you and one more practical gift that you picked out due to his complaining. He was always complaining how everyone were too loud, either they talked too out, breath too loud or, truth to be told, just exist too loud for his liking. He finally arrived and you didn't waste one second jumping into a hug and kissing him all over the face. He could sense your heart was about to explode from happiness which made him smile.
"Someone really missed me, huh?" he said in really low voice and hugged you thightly. You just nodded happily in his neck and he smiled.
"I missed you too." he slowly moved you away to give you a long, passionate kiss, not getting enough of you after being away so long. You pulled away and dragged him into a living room.
"Come faster, I want to give you my gifts." you giggled, Jouno smiled back at you, finding your excitement cute.
You quickly placed him on the couch and got two boxes. You gave him the first one.
"Okay, so this is more practical one, it's noise cancelling earbuds made specifically for you." you smiled as he took them out of box, his mouth slightly opened. He was inspecting them with his fingers.
"I tried all type of earbuds and trust me, none of them work, at least not with those bastards." he chuckled a bit and moved his head towards you.
"Just put them in Sai, don't be so skeptical." you told him and he listened, putting them in his ears and oddly enough, they seemed good.
You suddenly screamed and talked really loud how amazing it is and how you contacted his HQ to make them. He didn't hear you fully, he understood its and bits, he could still hear your heartbeat when he would really focus. You kept talking and he smiled, taking them out.
"I must give it to you, Y/N. They really do work." he said as he kept gentle smile on his face.
"I couldn't hear a word of your blabber." he teased you as you narrowed your eyebrows.
"Don't be mean now. I can also cut your ears off so you can't hear anything, you know?" you said in joking manner.
"I would love to see you try." he teased back and you smiled as you handed him second box.
"This one is more romantic, I think." you said, he could feel your muscles thighten a bit as you got nervous. He opened it and felt round, cold, thick but small piece of metal with a weirdish structure on top. He raised his eyebrow and pressed the structure and could feel 'I love you' beats being made in morse code. You were smiling nervously, not really sure how will he react. It was supposed to go in his pocket or anywhere truly, it was small but Jouno wouldn't be able to lose it given the fact it was Jouno. He pressed it once again and smiled.
"I think it's wonderful, Y/N." he smiled at you and you got even more flustered as he came closer to give you a gentle kiss.
Then, as he pulled away, he reached for his backpack, taking out a small box. He handed it to you and you opened it for your eyes to meet an earring, same as Jouno's and really pretty bracelet that had a little sword attached to it. You slowly took them out and put on an earring and bracelet as you looked at Jouno, who was smiling softly at you.
"Originally, I wanted to give you my earring, however the one you are wearing was handmade by some man I helped on the mission, I thought it would be nice to match. As for the bracelet, that little sword is a heartbeat measurment and it allows me to sense yours with this little thing.." he pulled out some sort of little machine.
"I wanted to be able to listen to your heartbeats before sleep, since they put me at ease and to track your mood during the day." he smiled at you.
You didn't say anything else, just quickly pulled him into a hug and he smiled, hugging you back thightly.
Tecchou Suehiro
Tecchou and you woke up next to each other, cuddling and whispering sweet nothings. You slowly got up and started your day, showering together and got dressed up, moving on to make some breakfast. You made pancakes with strawberry and nutella and also made your morning tea and coffee. It was overall nice, peaceful and romantic morning.
"You know, those pancakes would go great with ketchup and strawberry." Tecchou said, completely nonchalant.
"Excuse you?" you said as you laughed at him.
"I knew your taste was...special, to say at least but we won't make pancakes with ketchup and strawberries." you continued as Tecchou looked away, slightly disappointed. You laughed at him and got up to bring your gifts for him.
"Don't pout you grown baby. Maybe this will cheer you up." you said as you sat down, handing him your gift with a smile. He curiously took it and opened the bag and saw pair of gloves as well as some box in royal blue color. He took them out carefully, inspecting them.
"Gloves are for you since I noticed you hurt your hands a lot, so I thought to get you those to protect them." you smiled but Tecchou was silent, not looking at you. He opened the box, which made you nervous and he saw a lot of folded papers inside. He unfolded few papers and you were almost digging your fingernails into your skin because of his lack of reaction. On papers you wrote what you love, admire and appreciate about him and many other sweet, loving things. He folded papers back, gently placing them in the box and covering it with the lid. You were sweating at this point, he didn't look at you once. He closed his eyes and gentle, angelic smile covered his face as he stood up and came over to you and kneeled down, resting his head on your lap, his hands hugging your hips. You were a bit shocked.
"What did I do to deserve you, angel?" Tecchou said in soft, genuine voice. You were still slightly frozen, but his reaction made you smile and you placed your hand on top of his head to play with his hair.
"Just by being you, my love." you answered him in gentle tone and he suddenly looked up at you, his eyes big and full of love. He moved up to you and gave you a soft kiss on the lips. You smiled and then he kissed your forehead and stood up completely and went to bring you his gift.
He came back and gave you a bag that had teddy bear holding a heart on it. You smiled and he smiled back at you. You opened it and saw a little plushie of a dog that had Hunting Dog's uniform. You melted, but you couldn't ignore the smell of his cologne that was really strong. He noticed.
"Jouno said you will be able to smell it for next 10 years, so I think that's good." he said innocently not realizing the amount he sprayed. It still made your heart warm and you hugged the plushie thightly.
"Now you have someone to keep you company when I am away." he smiled and you got up plastering a soft kiss on his cheek and lips.
"Thank you my love, it's lovely." you said to him and you spent rest of your day enjoying each other's company.
Tachihara Michizō
You were waiting for Tachihara in the centre of the city so you can go home together. You were slightly annoyed because it was so crowded but then you finally saw him. He had a huge smile on his face and waving to get your attention. You waved back as he came up to you, picking you up and looking at your face with a huge smile.
"How is my favorite bastard doing?" he said lightheartedly and you laughed, gently slapping his arm. He put you down and pulled you in a loving kiss.
"Let's go. Do you want me to carry your backpack?" you asked genuinely.
"Hah! As if you can carry it, I will be fine." he chuckled and took your hand, two of you walking home and chatting about his missions and stuff happening in your lives while you were away. You already left your gift on the table, hoping he will be surprised. It was a huge chocolate cake that had 10 kinder eggs around.
As you finally arrived home, you quickly left him behind to wait next to the cake.
"Why are you rushing so..." Tachihara wanted to ask, but as soon as he saw the cake, his mouth opened wide. He was shocked and saw you standing next to it, proudly smiling. He took few steps forward as he looked at the cake, mouth and eyes wide open.
"You didn't!" he proclaimed excitedly as he quickly took one of the kinder eggs to inspect it.
"I did!" you smiled at him and he put the egg down and pulled you into a hug.
"You truly are a little bastard, is this why you were so excited?" he smiled and you nodded at him. He hugged you thightly and gave you a kiss on the lips making you giggle.
"Well then, I guess I can wait a bit before I open them." he smiled and went to his backpack, taking out big, red cotton bag. He gave it to you and it was really heavy. You looked at him, questioning expression in your eyes.
"You might want to open in on the couch." he said as he rubbed back of his head. You went to the couch, turning the bag around and you saw plenty of rocks and shiny crystals dropping out of it. There were all colors - from black, white, purple, brown, grey, mixed and all type of crystals - amethyst, rose quartz and others. You looked at awe and started inspecting them with your fingers.
"I took every rock and crystal that reminded me of you, I hope you like them." he said slightly nervous because he wasn't the best at expressing his emotions.
"I love them! You are such a sweetheart, you know?" you said and quickly jumped to hug him. You looked up at him and he smiled, kissing your forehead.
"I am glad to hear that baby, now can you help me open my kinder eggs, please?" he said and you could tell he was impatient and excited. You nodded, happy and enjoying the lovely moment with him. You spent rest of your day catching up, cuddling and opening kinder eggs that Tachihara was insanely worked up about. It was truly an amazing day.
Special mentions
Yokomizo
You went to drugstore to buy things for bath that you had in mind for Yokomizo. You just wanted him to relax and enjoy this day, taking a break from work and writing. You bought everything you need and as you entered your garden, you picked up roses because it would be a nice touch. You arrived home and greeted Yokomizo who seemed to be working so you didn't want to bother him and immediately went to the bathroom, preparing a bath. You put on candles, burned sticks in smell of lavander, filled the tub and put in gel that smelled like a fresh breeze carrying nature and its smells. It was full of bubbles and beautiful foam so you dropped rose petals on top, adding to the athmosphere. You turned off the lights and it truly looked enchating, healing and romantic. You also made sure to leave some snacks behind and a book so he can relax and enjoy.
You came to him, who seemed to be finishing his work.
"Honey, I made you a bubble bath." you said shyly, hoping he will like it. Yokomizo smiled and stood up, taking few steps towards you.
"Did you now?" he smiled and gently brushed your cheek with his thumb. You nodded and he looked at you lovingly, placing a kiss on your forehead.
"Thank you my love. Not to be bothersome, but could you please clean up my desk and then join me afterwards?" he said in apologetic tone, but still sounded confident for some reason. You nodded again, earning his smile and he stroked your cheek one more time as he went to the bathroom.
You went to his table and saw a big paper.
It said "All my peace, love and reason is you." written in calligraphy. Your heart felt warm, your face covered in wide smile as you quickly went to join Yokomizo in the bathroom. Two of you spent rest of your day in romantic, relaxing and loving manner truly enjoying each other.
The End :)
Thank you for reading and I truly hope you enjoyed this!
Thank you for all love you gave me so far, it truly means a lot and I deeply appreciate it :)<3
Kisses on the forehead for everyone hehe

Leaving The Web [Part 4] - Platonic Yandere Miguel O'Hara w/ Daughter Symbiote Spider Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Imagine having a day off and deciding to spend it as Spider-Woman exploring the city. However, your plans take an unexpected turn when Miguel O'Hara attacks you and tries to take you back to your own universe by force. Luckily, you are able to rely on your ally, Venom, to take care of him. But, there is a concern that Venom's Symbiote tendencies may cause harm to your loved ones, particularly your father. Will Venom be able to control himself and keep everyone safe?
The black web connected to the next building as you swung through the in-between of the city in your Black Spider-Woman Suit; there wasn't any trouble to deal with today but it's a peaceful way to spend your day off, at least that's what Venom tells you. He was the one who wanted to get a breath of fresh air - he's content with staying inside your body during the day but he wants to have some time just swing around and you take the passenger seat for once.
"You having fun there, V?" You asked your Symbiote, only getting a chuckle from him.
"Yes, it's nice getting out and spreading out legs. You really need to exercise more; we were getting a bit chunky with all that chocolate and tater tots." V said as he pulled your body up and landed on the side of the building before sticking to it and looking at the city bustling below; some people noticed you and took your picture while others waved and sang your praises.
"You're the one that always wants to eat the leftover chocolates from Kristen's Chocolate Shop. If you found something else to eat, then we wouldn't be gaining so much weight; ever thought of that, V?" You asked in your smartass tone of voice.
"Well, if you want us to stop eating so much chocolate, maybe we can start eating the brains of the villains we capture? They are scum anyway, who would miss them?" Venom asked but you just groaned.
"We talked about this when we came to this world, V, we can't just go around & eat whomever we please. We're the heroes of this world and if people started seeing us eating people, it would make them scared of us. Do we want that, V?" You asked.
"No. No, we do not want that. I guess we will have to stick to eating chocolate." Venom said as he lifted your arm to swing to another building when your spider-sense started going off. Venom looked around but saw no one coming until he heard a yell coming from behind him; he turned your body around but you were tackled off the wall by a towering figure and headed to the ground. You looked at the body and saw the familiar dark blue and red colors that you wanted to forget more than anything and Venom caught on quickly.
"Miguel/Miguel!" You and Venom said in unison as you took control from Venom and Gorilla smashed Miguel in the back, making him grunt in pain before letting you go and crashing into the wall as you shot a web and swung away from the scene; knowing Miguel O'Hara, he was going to follow you and you need to keep the people safe from this confrontation. You swung until you reached the top of the building a few distances away from where you were and you waited - soon enough, Miguel showed up with his mask off. You had Venom remove the mask and glared at him with your brown eyes.
"What the hell are you doing back in my universe, O'Hara? There are no Anomalies for you to take this time." You demanded to know but Miguel just pulled out a bracelet, the same bracelet you left behind when you left his universe. "What are you going to do with that.
"I've waited long enough. You're coming home, mija, and there is nothing you can do to stop me this time. I know this world doesn't have any Canon events and it wouldn't collapse if you were here but I am your father and i want you home - in our universe, where you belong." Miguel said as he held to bracelet out for you to take but you just glared at him.
"V." You said.
"Yes, [Name]?" The Symbiote asked.
"Take care of him, don't kill him just hurt him enough to know that I want nothing to do with him." You said as you closed your eyes as your mask returned to your face.
"Understood!" Venom said as the symbiote took over and grew into his muscular body - showing that he wasn't going to hold back anymore. Miguel looked very horrified at the massive body before him as Venom charged at him and punched him in the face, making him drop the bracelet and skip on the roof like a stone.
"Venom! Stand down! I'm just trying to bring [Name] home!" Miguel said as he put his mask back on.
"WE WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU! YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT HURT US OVER AND OVER AGAIN! MAKE US FEEL LIKE WE WEREN'T WORTHY OF YOUR LOVE AND RESPECT! NOW, WE HAVE A HOME WHERE WE ARE LOVED AND RESPECTED! WE WON'T GO BACK, LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE AND GO BACK TO YOUR WORLD BEFORE WE BREAK YOU AND SEND YOU BACK!" Venom said.
"Then, you'll have to break my body then." Miguel said.
"With Pleasure!"

Happy birthday, dear
Neuvillette x f!reader - Established relationship - Neuvillette takes care of reader after a long day of work - It's readers birthday - Fluff - Mentions of wearing heels - NO use of y/n
●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●
FOR THE LOVELY NIKA ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝ It's her birthday today (her timezone) Everybody wish her a happy birthday
@mxyarylla
Of course everyone can enjoy this, the birthday setting is for today's purpose :)
Tumblr media
●・○・●・○・●●・○・●・○・●●・○・●
The day before your birthday, of all the days your boss could pick, you're stuck with work all day. Around 11pm, you finally make it back home. You expect Neuvillette to be at work, like usual. The house is quiet, it's a comforting quiet compared to the noisey day at your job.
After locking the door, you hang your bag on a nearby hook and walk to your shared bedroom. You're surprised as you open the door and see the light on, your husband sitting on the edge of the bed reading a book. He hears you come in, looking up to meet your eyes.
"You're back. How was work?" He closes his book and sets it aside.
You walk over to the bed and plop yourself down next to him. "Exhausting."
He chuckles, standing up before kneeling on the floor in front of you. He takes the tiny strap of one of your shoes and unbuckles it. Neuvillette never understood heels like this. Why make it so hard to come off? He does the same to the other one, letting the heels drop to the floor. He kisses your knee before looking back up at you.
"At least you are here now... Any longer, I would've had to come get you early."
"Really? I'd love to see that. Maybe I'll ask him to stay just a little longer next time, see what happens."
"Oh really?" he laughs and the room goes silent for a brief moment. Your eyes never leaving each other.
"For now, how about a bath?" Others would maybe think he's insulting you, but you understood.
"Now?" you grimace. "I guess it is necessary."
You pat his head before standing up, making your way to the bathroom. As you suspected, the bathtub is already full. The water is still hot and steaming, as if he timed it just right. There are foaming bubbles in the tub, you assume they are to relax you. After looking on a nearby counter, there's already a fresh towel for you to dry off with. On top of that, there's a silk pajama set placed neatly next to it. A color he likes to see you in often, blue.
You're in awe of his efforts when the very man who did all of this comes into the bathroom with you.
"Neuvi, you did all this?"
"It was not much. I simply wanted to make sure my lady was relaxed today."
You hug him tightly, his warmth soothing you even more. He rubbed your back, before kissing the top of your head.
You let go, smiling widely at him. "I'll go in now, then. Hopefully I don't fall asleep."
Neuvillette stiffens, suddenly worried that you may actually fall asleep in there.
I will stay in here with you, if you'd like?"
You nod. "I'll take you up on that offer!" Before undressing, and dipping yourself in the water. The temperature is comforting. It doesn't make you cold even for a second. You hum, satisfied with the bath.
Neuvillette puts his hair into a high ponytail, knowing it would get in his way later. He learned how to manage his hair a little more after your endless teachings of how to simply get it in a ponytail. But it was worth the effort, because he looked absolutely beautiful in that hairstyle.
He walked over to the bathtub and sat down next to it, leaning his weight on the tub.
"What would you have done if I came home late?" you grab a peice of his long hair and start playing with it, twirling it in your hands.
"What do you mean, exactly?" He asked in return.
"The temperature is still warm, it's very comforting. Like you just did this minutes ago. Yet, you were calmly sat with a book in your hand when I arrived."
He smiled slightly. "I cannot reveal my secrets."
"Really? How sneaky of you." You grinned.
-
An hour passed and you were ready to get out from your bath.It had been spent chatting with Neuvillette as you soak in the warmth of his love and the temperature of the water.
Steam hit your face just right you nearly actually fell asleep while he ran out of things to say. You hop out and dry off your body with the towel he prepared for you.
Neuvillette offered to dry your hair which you glady took him up on.
Putting on the blue silk pajamas he picked out and heading to bed, happily. Neuvillette wraps you into an embrace underneath the sheets of your shared bedroom. You can feel yourself start to drift off immediately. A mix of a long day, with the relaxing night.
Or maybe because it was past midnight. "Happy birthday, dear." Neuvillette plants a chaste kiss on your forehead. You hear him, before letting out a simple thank you.

A chain reaction is set off when Wednesday realizes she’s not actually talking to her roommate
Pt. 2
---
Wednesday wasn’t talking to Enid right now.
Sure Enid was in front of her, sitting on her bed, in their room, wearing her clothes, and her face- but it had, embarrassingly, taken Wednesday five whole minutes to realize it wasn’t Enid. Her hairline was off, her smile was a bit too big, and her eyeliner wasn’t done with its normal flicked technique. What cracked the bell, however, was the fact that her nails were a different color. Wednesday normally couldn’t care less, but her roommate had been trying to find the perfect shade of green for her nails for the past month and had only repainted them this morning, blabbering on and on about it. A fact that made Wednesday want to open the large decorative window, and fling herself out of it.
But her nails weren’t green. They were blue with pink polka dots. The same pattern she had last week.
“You’re a pretty convincing fake,” Wednesday bit, and faux-Enid paused mid-sentence.
     You’d been caught.
Wednesday continues, tilting her head down to glare at you through her lashes. Other than those minute details- you really could be Enid. Or, at least, someone lesser than her would believe so. “Who are you, and why have you chosen to impersonate my roommate?”
Faux-Enid sighed, before sticking on her house slippers and stepping towards Wednesday, holding out a hand. After a moment of consideration, Wednesday took it firmly in hers and shook it twice. You clicked your tongue in satisfaction- a decidedly un-Enid thing for you to do. Wednesday never thought she’d see the uncanny implications of someone wearing another’s face so nonchalantly in person.
“(Y/n),” You said, brows pitching up as you finally looked around freely, “I just wanted to see the great Wednesday Addams that everyone’s been whispering about.”
“Whispering is for wakes, I prefer it that way, everyone’s been too loud since I’ve arrived.”
You understood now why everyone was talking- well, maybe for different reasons. They were concerned about the attempted murder charges. You were wondering how someone could be so pretty. She was entirely ignoring you as well, a bold move considering you were a stranger, and you had impersonated her roommate and snuck into her dorm.
Hm. That made you sound like a creep.
     Oh well.
The newly occupied side of the room was sparsely decorated- a far cry from Enid’s colorful and cluttered abode. You couldn’t say it was bad, though, everything was organized, in its rightful place- and delightfully macabre, accentuating the architecture that encased it. Her bedsheets had hospital corners. Taking care not to touch anything, you glanced over the few trinkets she had, lingering on the heavy typewriter with a fresh piece of paper stuck inside its hold.
As you take a step closer to her, she takes one back.
You rescind your previous step, putting twice the space between you- and you catch a downward twitch in her brow.
“A murder mystery?” You ask, looking her in the eye. Wednesday isn’t entirely sure you’re asking about her book, even though it is the topic of discussion.
Wednesday found herself asking a question without thinking. “How could you tell?”
You turn your back on her, this time. A dangerous decision, she decides, because she can see your neck from here. “Instinct, maybe?” You tease, turning back momentarily to wink. Wednesday’s lips purse tight, perturbed at those words coming from what seems to be Enid’s mouth.
“If you’re going to act in such a way, I’d be much obliged if you stopped mimicking my roommate.” Her skin prickled as you sighed, rocking back on your feet as if contemplating her words.
And then you begin to change, right in front of Wednesday’s eyes.
Wednesday’s ever-present morbid curiosity waits for the cracking of bone or stretching of skin- reminiscent of other transformations she’d bore witness to. This was nothing of the sort- it was smooth. Too smooth. Like a hot knife through the doughy fat of a thigh. It’s disturbing as you take on a new shape, and she can’t blink, because she’ll miss it.
Or maybe she won’t? How can she miss it when the familiar face staring back at her is her?
You trot along to Enid’s mirror, fixing your newfound fringe and admiring how Wednesday’s face looks on you. She had dark brown- nearly black eyes, and a smattering of freckles over her soft skin. Her eyelashes are long, too, wisping against her brows and the apples of her cheeks, almost like a doll. “You really are pretty, Wednesday. Great cheekbones,” She sees the way your eyes look down at her lips in the mirror. “Nice-”
“If you finish that train of thought they’ll find you at the bottom of the lake hog-tied with lead in your pockets.”
You smile at her- and that’s how others would be able to tell you both apart because the muscles responsible for completing such an expression had died in her face long ago. It was like an out-of-body experience, or a successful trial after her many failed attempts at lucid dreaming. It made her feel something- something she couldn’t put a finger on- something she might not like.
     She wants to end this.
     But then you’d leave.
     She wants you to leave.
     Right?
It may be too difficult to say no to her own face.
You can see the twitch next to her lip, and know that maybe you’ve pushed the new girl too far- and thus, you borrow Enid again. “Don’t worry, Wednesday,” the way you say her name sends chills up her spine, like hypothermia setting in. It’s different from the way Enid would say it, like you’re pitching her voice differently, making it your own. “I won’t borrow your face if you don’t want me to.”
And just as you make peace with plunging Wednesday into the ice-cold uncharted waters of discomposure, the door jiggles and swings open. Enid- the real one- stands in the doorway with shopping bags on her arm, ones that she nearly drops as she squeals over your presence.
Wednesday takes a step back as the blonde entirely overtakes you, and she’s sure she’ll go blind from the embarrassingly emotional spectacle you both make. Clamoring and chattering as you discuss something undoubtedly trivial. Enid doesn’t seem to mind that you’ve borrowed her complexion. Wednesday doesn’t understand it. Maybe she doesn’t want you to leave. She feels her fingers twitch in the urge to lay you down and cut you open. Shapeshifters must have malleable cells, right? To aid in the transformation process? She wants to see what it would look like under a microscope.
As if sensing her murderous intent, maybe you can see it in her eyes, you turn to her, a sly little smile. “It was lovely meeting you Wednesday. I’d love to hear more about your novel next time we chat.”
     The next time.
     How bold.
---
When Enid posted on her blog about Nevermore gaining a new student and the scandal that would undoubtedly follow, you were hooked. The Addams were infamous at Nevermore, and now their oldest would be showing up midway through the quarter, tugging along attempted murder charges?
You were itching to meet her.
Heart practically beating out of your chest, you retreated from Enid and Wednesday’s dorm. Riveting. Absolutely riveting. Your fingers and toes were numb in excitement at the prospect of the rest of the quarter. Who knew a flash of braids and a homicidal edge was what this school so desperately needed?
---
“I’m assuming you know her?” Wednesday asked, not bothering to look at her roommate as she pulled out her desk chair and began setting up her typewriter.
“Oh, (Y/n)? Yeah of course! We’re like, besties!” Wednesday fought the urge to roll her eyes at Enid’s terminology. “I was wondering when she was gonna come around- when I told her you were coming to Nevermore she totally freaked.” Enid clipped her bangs back, getting ready for her nightly skin routine. “I can’t believe it took her, like, what, a week? to come say hi.”
Wednesday hummed, barely hearing the words over the clacking of her typewriter keys, her brows furrowed in thought. Enid grabbed her caddy of soaps and prepared to head off into the bathroom. “I feel like you’ll be great friends. Ooooh, we should totally do, like, a group sleepover! I’ll be right back, think about it, okay?”
The front door slammed shut behind Enid, and Wednesday grumbled, pulling out the used sheet of paper from her typewriter and crumpling it up. Thing looked up from his place on Wednesday’s bed, shutting the magazine he’d been leafing through to see what was troubling her. Wordlessly, she fed another piece of paper into the paper table.
Perhaps Viper De La Muerte’s mystery would gain another character.
---
You come to her next as Xavier in their shared botanical sciences class, and she can tell right away based on the doodle you’re scratching into his desk. It’s quite awful. Horrendous, actually- technically speaking.
“Good morning Wednesday” You chirp, and that warbled tone is there again. Perhaps a side effect? Curiosity is creeping up on her in these spare meetings you both share, getting ready to strangle her in the best way
Wednesday sets down her bag, and sits precariously on her chair, eyeing the etched drawing on the desk. It’s a raven, and when it doesn’t pop out of the table at her, she’s sure of her conviction.
     “(Y/n)” She states.
You let out an affronted gasp, eyes crinkling at the recognition, before propping your chin up on your hand. “How could you tell? Was it my magnetic personality?” Wednesday focuses on the way your, Xaviers, fingers tap and fidget against the desk like you think she won’t notice. “Perhaps our first encounter has captured your heart- and you’ve fallen for me?”
“I’d rather you watch me fall off a cliff.”
“Sounds like the perfect date idea, how about seven tomorrow night?”
You watch in excitement as her brows tick up a hairline of an inch and the way her cheeks look a little less dead. She most likely wasn’t used to someone receiving her sardonic personality with open arms.
In place of answering, she chooses to counter it with another question. “Why are you impersonating Xavier?”
Dramatically, you pull out a notebook. Not a sketchbook. A real notebook. And begin to take dutiful notes. Another way she would’ve been able to tell the difference between you and Xavier. “If someone doesn’t want to go to class, for whatever reason, they normally pay me to come and make sure they don’t miss an attendance credit, take a test, get homework-”
     “Cheat?”
“If that’s what you’d like to call it, then yeah, cheat,” You shrug, “It makes me good money, and I get to keep the grade curve up. I’m sure you could appreciate that.” Your pencil nudges against hers, tapping against her meticulous notes.
She’s not sure where to take this conversation, and that weird feeling is back. Normally, she’s itching to leave a conversation. Any conversation. Maybe it’s the fact that while she’s talking to Xavier, she’s also talking to you. There’s nothing to put to your voice yet, even when it’s masked and warbled by another.
Wednesday is talking to someone, and she doesn’t really know who. The concept is eldritchtian in nature, that she could look over and not understand something that was right in front of her face. There’s no control. A masterful side eye keeps watch on you throughout the period. If she can’t put a face to a name, she could at least tack onto mannerism. Maybe then she could control that feeling in her gut.
You liked keeping your hands above the desk and busy. You’d fidget with them often, picking at your nails. Your nose would involuntarily twitch whenever Thornhill pulled out a particularly foul-smelling plant. But was that you or Xavier? Wednesday’s pen taps the edge of her paper, leaving ink blots in the margins. She could argue that it’s you- at the end of the day it’s your brain, but another part says you could be subconsciously mimicking the mannerisms of whoever you’re impersonating. You’re a puzzle with one too many edge pieces that she’s trying to make fit.
She’s adorable- thinking that you don’t notice she’s watching you. The thing about being different, for good or bad reasons, is that you can feel when someone’s trying to understand you. How their eyes linger. Maybe it’s masochism that runs your brain because you feel good gaining her attention- no matter how depraved it was.
The game of ignoring and noticing each other continued throughout the period, like a dance you had practiced, making sure not to step on each other’s toes. You wondered if she was curious enough to ask now. You wanted her to ask. To be curious enough to suggest meeting up. To know you better. From what Enid had spilled about her, Wednesday was confident- and unpredictable. The ball was never in your court because she was never even playing her game with you, just hitting it against the wall by your head and waiting for you to flinch.
     You’d flinch if she wanted.
Miss Thornhill wrapped up the end of class, the volume of the room slowly rising as kids began to talk about their upcoming plans for the weekend. You watched slyly as Wednesday packed up, flipping your notebook closed to give back to Xavier.
“My room, tonight after dinner,” Wednesday murmured firmly, and your smile pulled taught, an ache in your cheeks. But your victory was short-lived, the lips you’d admired in the mirror spelling your crash.
     “Don’t come as anyone.”
---
You were stupid to have not thought this far.
     Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Getting so caught up in just trying to capture her attention, you didn’t even know what you were going to do if you got it. You thought it would take a couple more tries to get her fully into the idea of being around you- but you had underestimated Enid’s words.
Wednesday knew what she wanted quickly, and she expected to get it.
It would be hot if you weren’t mentally freaking out.
She said to meet her after dinner, but that didn’t specify a certain time, right? Hypothetically, you could show up whenever. You could say you had a late dinner- but you know that wasn’t what she met. She’d already be upset at you for disregarding her last request, you couldn’t be late on top of that.
As you walked through the hallowed halls of Nevermore Academy, you people-watched. There were so many interesting students here. No matter their disposition, they had rich lives that would no doubt continue on and only grow more complex. Intriguing powers that had so many quirks and kickbacks that you could only imagine what it felt like to have them come naturally to you. There were so many compelling people here- so why would you want to be you when you could pretend to be them?
Shifting from foot to foot, you knocked on the door. Well, Bianca technically knocked on the door, but it was still just you. Enid answers, looking somewhat taken aback before realization dawns on her. “(Y/n)- come on in! I was just about to go meet Ajax, so it’ll just be you and Wednesday.” The way she says it sounds like she’s hinting something, looking at you with wide eyes and a mischievous little smile.
‘Subtle’ You mouth to her, nodding your head. Enid does a bashful curtsey, before grabbing her keys. She makes sure it’s loud as she locks the door behind her.
     And then it’s two.
Wednesday looks positively deadly cut against the low light of the iconic Ophelia Hall window. The way she glares through you emphasizes her distaste for your actions.
“I see you’ve decided on Bianca today. Odd, considering I asked for you.” You’re nearly prepared to say something, mustering up enough thought to figure out what she’d even want to hear, but it’s her who steps closer. And closer. And closer.
She’s in your space now, looking up ever so slightly at you. “Take it off.”
“You could at least buy me dinner first,” You stumble out, voice not nearly as confident as it had to be for that line.
Wednesday only tilts her head, coy as can be, with a brow slightly raised. “I thought you liked my unconventional… date ideas.”
You muffled a laugh, “I didn’t even get the first one. I was looking forward to seeing the rocks together-”
Wednesday wondered if you do it- if you’d teeter into the violence of her earlier statements.
“-If you’d jump, and if you did, how you’d hit them. Maybe, what it would look like when I followed after you.”
You’d been lured into her trap. And by the way, Wednesday could feel the corners of her mouth twitching up, she’d been ensnared in yours. But she couldn’t let you win so easily. She couldn’t find herself letting you do it. Turning away, she marched to her desk, pulling out a thin, monogrammed book, and a pen. “I believe I made that commitment to (Y/n), not Bianca.”
Frozen to the floorboards, you stare wide-eyed, having been put right back into the one spot you didn’t want to be. Wednesday could hear the hitch in your breath, matching it with her own to see how long it would take you to breathe again. The satisfying ache in her lungs proved that she had caught you off guard. “To make it up to me, you’ll be answering a few questions.” She points to her bed, telling you to sit.
Relief wasn’t the right word to describe your state. Abject happiness? Pure and unbridled repose? Perhaps disappointment- because you wouldn’t be meeting your demise to the cold, small hands of Wednesday Addams. Though, a thorough interrogation will take a close second.
There was a weird disconnect with the situation. You’d tell Wednesday anything she wanted to know. What you were, how you felt, your deepest fears, your middle name. But the idea of shedding whomever you had borrowed and bearing your face to the world terrified you. The idea that she could know everything about you and know nothing at the same time felt comfortable, but when Wednesday Addams was looking at you with a curious spark in her eyes, you felt it wasn’t the right choice at all.
Scurrying over to the bed, you hurriedly sat down- only to sit on something soft. Not in the springy way, a bed was soft, but in the way people were soft.
Wednesday watched in amusement as you yelped, jumping up quickly off of her bed. Thing angrily crawled his way out of the covers, obviously having been woken up from his after-dinner nap. Desperately, you apologized to Thing, seemingly unfazed by the fact that he was only a hand. She doubts he’s the weirdest thing you’ll see while you choose to associate with her. “Thing, this is (Y/n). (Y/n), Thing. Now stop apologizing.” Wednesday demands, grabbing Thing and carrying him over to Enid’s side of the room. Precariously, she tucks him in, before turning her back on him, leaving no room for argument. She pointed to the bed again. “You. Sit.” What were you meant to do? Say no? Perched on the side of the bed, you waited for her to begin her investigation a la (Y/n).
“You can become anything?” Wednesday started, writing along the printed lines of her notebook.
     “Anything you want.” You tease.
     “I want a real answer.”
“Anything I want, within reason,” You sigh, leaning back on your hands.
She stopped writing for a moment, looking over the edge of her book, “And what does that entail?”
“I can’t get too small,” You emphasize, making a small box with your hands and then gesturing to the rest of yourself, “Or else I feel cramped. And I can’t get too big, because then I’ll be stretched too thin, and everything’ll become unstable.” Wednesday narrows her eyes for a moment, hitting the nib of the pen against the paper before deciding what to write.
     “What about width?”
“Oooh, that’s a good question- haven’t tried it? I guess? Not many things are wider than they are tall.”
Wednesday hums in thought, before grabbing her desk chair and propping it up in front of you, sitting down herself. Your knees were knocking together, the only thing separating your skin from hers being her uniform skirts. Bianca always liked to roll her skirt up a bit, so you did too. “Does it hurt?”
“Did what hurt? When I fell for you- Ow!”
You rubbed at the skin of your knee where she had stabbed you with her pen, the broken skin healing itself within the blink of an eye. You could feel her gaze watching it.
“We’re not doing that bit again. Your abilities seem to have a healing aspect.” She mumbles, furiously scribbling something down. You wondered what she was even writing. ‘Initial observation, healing aspect, eternal torture? Must review’. Yeah, no, okay.
“Not exactly, It’s sort of like healing- but also a bit more complex. When you heal, you make new cells, right?”
     “Of course.”
“But what I just did wasn’t making new cells- it’s just the same cells remembering what was there, transforming into that, and then moving accordingly.” Tentatively, you grab her hand. It’s cold and rigid against yours, like a corpse, and you move it to the skin of your knee. You’d never be able to tell that there was a hole there in the first place. “Of course, I still produce new cells like everyone else, it’s just if I were to sustain a large injury- a lethal one, being a shapeshifter wouldn’t save me. My cells would transform and move, but that would only be tearing me open in a different way.”
     There’s a smile on Wednesday’s face.
It’s small, barely even there, like an apparition, but you can see it.
Wednesday is enamored with you. Your skin was so warm. You were holding her hand so tightly. She had this disgusting, revolting feeling in her chest. One she wanted to keep there forever.
“So I couldn’t crack your ribs open and crawl inside of you?”
“If you had to keep warm, of course.”
     You were so close.
Suddenly, she clapped her notebook shut, the chair screeching as she lurched out of it. Jolting, you leaned back a little, watching with wide eyes as she slammed the notebook into her desk drawer and shut it.
“We’re going to see the rocks tomorrow.” She demanded, reminiscent of when she asked you to come here. “And I do want you this time.”
     Son of a bitch.
“I…” Your mouth felt dry. It was amazing how she managed to make you feel so comfortable while trapped. “I’ll think about it.” And within the next moment, you were a mouse scurrying across the floor boards, and ducking right beneath the door frame.
You didn’t stop running until you were down the stairs and in the main entrance hall- quickly changing back and collapsing against a wall.
A mouse? Did you become a fucking mouse?
Silently screaming into the hall, you hit your head against the ground, embarrassment flooding through your every nerve. Because what the fuck. You became a fucking mouse and you ran under the door.
You knew what you had to do.
     You had to die.
Life was over at this point- there was no use continuing. Wednesday Addams had (sort of) asked you out, and like a complete and utter loser, you ran away. As a mouse.
---
     You had been avoiding her.
It had been a week since Wednesday Addams had last seen you. And a single question loomed above them all.
Who did you think you were?
You barge into her room, responding to her threats and homicidal tendencies in kind, making her interested, sticking her neck out onto the guillotine. Making her want to hold and touch you. Hold your warm hands. Run her fingers over your skin. And you’re hiding from her?
To say she was positively murderous at this point was an understatement. Her rage was unconcealable. People avoided her in the halls, well, more so than before. Enid was neglecting to start conversations when they shared their dorm, fearing the wrath she may incur if Wednesday was even a bit more annoyed. She had already stabbed Xavier with her pen twice. He didn’t even have the nerve to treat her to a spectacle such as you did.
Her cello was bearing the brunt of her bad mood this evening, pulling along the strings and bow to string together a much blunter rendition of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8. The callouses on the tips of her fingers burned as she flew through the piece, a much-needed pain to distract her from her inner turmoil. It felt so right.
As the last few notes on the page crept up on her, the quartet drawing to a close, there was a glint in the night. Brows furrowed and lips pouted, she closed her music book, setting down her bow and cello to approach the edge of the stoned terrace. A raven- big and beautiful, flapped its wings closer, a chain dangling from its beak with a pendant hanging from the end. Like it recognized her, it stalled in the air, almost waiting for Wednesday to hold out her hand.
Tentatively, she did so, and the raven dropped the cold, sterling silver amulet into her hand. Ignoring its retreat, she turned the amulet around, peering into the glass class on the other side. Its contents puzzled her.
     “Don’t turn around.”
Head snapping up, Wednesday felt a tingle run down her spine as she looked onto the horizon. She knew that voice.
One that was normally distorted with another’s, warbled and lost in a tonal fray, was crystal clear.
     “I… I wanted to apologize.”
     “For ignoring my existence?”
“Yes, I just…” She could hear your exasperated sigh behind her, and instead of turning around, she channeled her want into running her fingers along the grooves of the amulet. “I want to show you who I am. I do. I just don’t think that I… That I’m prepared for what that means. So I got you that.”
It was a Victorian mourning locket. Inside its glass prison lay a small, cut stock card. Oil paints had been used to portray a single, lively and bright eye, laid deep into plush skin. Framing it, were strands of hair, glued and staged to look as though it would when hanging naturally. A single braid of the same hair wormed around and enclosed the portrait, snug against the silver. The hair, skin, and eye colors were unfamiliar to her- but Wednesday Addams was a smart girl, she could piece it together.
She felt as if you had grabbed her heart and pulled it out of her chest, content to watch it slow to a stop in your hand, and all she could muster was- “Who painted this?”
You muffled a laugh. “My dad, don’t worry.”
Wednesday could hear your steps, and by the fourth, she could feel how warm you were against her back.
“This is just my way of saying… that when I’m ready, you’ll be the first person I show. You’ve already seen more of me than anyone else here has.”
Just like when you first met the infamous Wednesday Addams, your fingers were numb. Though, this time, instead of excitement, you were dreadfully, painfully, nervous. Nervous that the girl standing only a few feet in front of you would reject your declaration. All was silent, and the only sound you could comprehend was the thudding of your pulse in your ears as she held the locket out behind her.
     “Put it on for me.”
Fingers shaking, you struggled to unclasp the chain, before pulling the chain around her thin neck. Securing the clasp again, you lingered, warm hands smoothing out the baby hairs on the nape of her neck.
Wednesday watched unfamiliar hands flash in front of her eyes, and she knew that she had you at that very moment. “Sit,” she demands again, settling down on the floor of the terrace. One more moment and your back was entirely pressed against hers, the ridges of your spines kissing through your muscle, skin, and clothes. “Thank you,” Wednesday said quietly into the night air, “I’m… I’m pleased, that I’ll be the first.”
She took your hand in hers, and the numbness faded.
