So for a writing prompt,
Vanessa meeting an ex gf/bf (whatever u want) at a supermarket. While Gregory and Freddy just listen to the tea or have shenanigans around the supermarket.
Ghosted
(915 words)
"Can I have some gushers?"
Vanessa clicks her tongue. "You already have captain crunch in the buggie."
Gregory frowns, and looks longingly at the the package when they pass the shelf it's on. "But..."
Vanessa rolls her eyes. "Why dont you get some broccoli or something? Brussel sprouts?"
Gregory pauses, and gives her a long, hard stare.
"Alright then." She says simply. "Shouldnt you want to eat healthily? You didnt exactly have a very good diet on the streets."
"Isnt that exactly why I should get to have the gushers?" Gregory counters when Vanessa picks off some tortilla chips and cheese dip off of the shelf. "I deserve them!"
Vanessa sighs, and turns to see Gregory using his unnaturally big eyes to his advantage.
"Surely Gregory should be able to have a special treat or two, Vanessa." Freddy says from behind Gregory, muffled by his backpack.
Vanessa sputters. "You're on his side?"
Freddy hums. "I just think that Gregory has a point, that is all."
Vanessa rolls her eyes, and turns the buggie back around with a sigh. "Shouldn't you of all people be advocating for eating your veggies?" She points out.
"Eating some sugary gummies does not equal not eating your vegetables, Vanessa. As long as you keep a balanced diet, indulging in unhealthy snacks is no issue--"
"Yeah, yeah." She cuts him off, and rolls the buggie to a stop in front of some fruit snacks.
"You can have some fruit gummies." She says, and points at a two-pack box of Welch's fruit snacks. "Not the gushers. You can have those next time, when you haven't already picked out an unhealthy snack."
Gregory huffs, but he takes the box anyway and puts it in the buggie.
"Better than nothing." Gregory says, then smiles. "Thanks."
Vanessa smiles back, and leans on the buggie. At least those are healthier than sugary fruit gushers. And Gregory seems happy. Maybe she isnt so crap at this.
The pleasant moment is cut off by a familiar voice behind her.
"Vanessa?" A woman asks, and Vanessa jumps, turning around. "Is that you?"
Oh. Vanessa thinks when she realizes who it is. Oh, no.
"So it really is you." Olivia says, voice unimpressed. "You really had me worried, Vanessa, I mean, what was I supposed to think?"
Gregory is silent beside her, watching the exchange with wide eyes. Vanessa sputters, avoiding eye contact.
"I-- Um-- Listen Olivia I--"
"Dont." Olivia says. "I dont want an apology. I just wish that you would have just told me you weren't interested instead of ghosting me."
Gregory makes a face beside her, eyes wide and mouth open in a small O, and he looks way too into it.
"I--" Vanessa tries, but she cuts herself off. 'I'm sorry, Olivia. I really was interested in you, but a crazy robot using the face of a decades old serial killer took over my mind and forced me to cut off any contact with all other people to complete his evil deeds!' Is what she wants to say, but being seen as a bitch seems like a better option than being seen as an insane freak.
So she just stays silent, and Olivia scoffs, looking insulted.
"Nothing to say to that, huh?" Olivia says, a sour look on her face. "Fine, see if I care. I just hope the next girl to start talking to you doesn't get far enough to be heartbroken like I was."
And with that, Olivia turns and walks briskly away, her brown hair flipping sassily over her shoulder and trailing behind her like a tailcoat.
Its completely silent except for the general milling about of people around them and beeps from self checkout scanners for a moment. Then, she finally tears her eyes away from the spot Olivia walked away from her and looks down when she sees movement.
Gregory looks like something hilarious just occured, and he looks up at her gleefully when she makes eye contact with him.
She rolls her eyes when he starts laughing, and she huffs, eyes dead set in front of her as she tries to push the buggie to get away from him.
"Who was that, Vanessa?" Freddy asks from behind Gregory, who's clumsily following behind her and almost bumping into people and their carts from how hard hes laughing. Vanessa tries not to let her mood sour too much.
"Olivia." She answers. "She was my..." She tries to find the right words. "...we were talking, and were about to start dating, but then..."
She trails off, and Freddy hums and looks at her sympathetically from Gregory's backpack. "I understand, Vanessa. You do not have to continue."
"That was awesome." Gregory finally refills his lungs after almost busting one laughing too hard at her relationship failure. "The drama. It was too good!"
"I'm glad you like my misery, brat." She says, rolling her eyes.
He just has another short burst of laughs, and then tries to quiet down. "I did like it. Very much. Why cant that happen <i>all</i> the time?"
"Because usually," Vanessa says. "I dont ghost people because I had my brain hijacked."
Gregory giggles. "Oh man, i knew people were obsessed with drama but i never knew it was this funny." He says, then tugs on Vanessa's shirt. "Hey, you gotta start a reality show with me soon, alright?"
Vanessa rolls her eyes, but she just ruffles Gregory's hair, and a small smile appears on her face.
"Sure, squirt. Whatever you say."

part 2 of my villain x hero enemies(?) to lovers fake(?) dating mess
(part 1 here)
----------------------------------------
Phase 1: Scheming
"Now we can't just jump into this whole thing right away, we need to make it believable by dropping hints that this has been going on for at least three months now." I fall into the familiar rhythm explaining a plan, not bothering to look at Dawnstar who follows behind me. "We'll start with a fake digital trail, planting forum threads speculating about unusual behavior from each of us."
I stop in front of an innocuous dark wooden door. It's set into the wall in such a way that it's almost always covered by a shadow, making it blend into the background and not even register in most people's minds as they walk past.
"We'll also need to stage a few photos, taken with a low quality phone camera from a distance of course. Maybe one or two better quality ones mimicking interactions we've had in the past, but from a new angle to create a more… suggestive air to the situation." As I speak I place my hand on the door, allowing the hidden biometric scanners to verify my identity.
"Ok, cool, so like a reverse of that time you basically did an online carpet bombing of a guy's reputation to ruin his company. Why are you feeling up that door- oh." I looked back to get a view of his flabbergasted expression when the door slid open to reveal a long slanted hallway, lit only from a dim path of circular lights set into the titanium alloy flooring. I grabbed his hand as I stepped inside and placed it next to mine on another invisible scanner, this one set into the wall painted with black 3.0.
"Don't mind the pinch, it needs a blood sample to register you so the security measures don't activate when you try to walk through. And yes, I will be using many of the same techniques as when I dragged the bald nitwit's public image through the mud and fed its carcase to the internet trolls."
Releasing his hand once the lights flashed blue in confirmation I made my way down the hall, undaunted by the dozens of lethal security measures built into the walls, floor, and ceiling.
"The big difference here is that I actually had something real to work with then - he really did cheat on his wife, and it was disgustingly easy to get video evidence of him with those very expensive sex workers. Those testimonies they gave were real too, but the leaked emails were all me."
As I reached the end of the hallway and opened the final door, the lights in my subterranean sanctuary slowly faded on. Dawnstar seemed puzzled as he looked around the room. "This is… weirdly cozy for a villainous lair? Like, it feels like you pulled this place out of a dark academia/cottage-core tumblr blog run by a fifteen year old who wishes they lived in a ghibli movie." Even as he tried to reconcile the space with the aggressively professional and lavish presentation of my public office, he wandered towards one of the overstuffed chairs next to the fireplace.
I made my way to the small coatroom by the entrance, keeping the door open as I talked. "I like to be comfortable when I'm scheming. My professional style is intimidating classy, but classy isn't always comfortable or conducive to brainstorming." I made quick work of changing my outfit to a dressing gown as he busied himself with the wall to wall bookshelves.
I relished the look on his face when he turned around and saw me, the eggshell while of the gown contrasting nicely with my dark skin. His reactions are always so amusing. "Here, I feel chafed just looking at you in that outfit." I shove a soft cotton poet shirt and set of lounge pants into his arms before passing through an archway between the books into my kitchen. "Go change into that while I make some tea. I hope you didn't have any plans for the next day or so, we're going to be here a while."
As he finally tore his flustered gaze away from me and went into the coatroom I head him muttering viscously under his breath in Tagalog. The game had barely begun and I was already having so much fun.
By the time he had changed the tea was steeped, and I was laid out on a plush fainting couch in front of a large mirror in a rococo gilt frame. I gestured towards the coffee table and padded rocking chair I'd brought over from another corner of the room. "Take a seat, let's talk timelines." He settled into the chair and started on demolishing the plate of cookies I served with the tea, clearly still off balance and needing the familiar comfort of sweets.
I took out an electronic-ink tablet and with a few taps the mirror flickered to life, presenting us with a view of my grand planning dashboard. "Hmph," Dawnstar grunted and swallowed a mouth full of cranberry-oatmeal cookie, "A magic mirror. Very evil queen of you. Do you have like, a potion lab down here?"
"I keep toxins in the labs up in the R&D wing. The mirror was inspired by the one in snow white actually, I always thought the queen was stupid to use it for finding threats to her position of Most Beutiful and wanted to do it better." I pushed a large ceramic mug of tea towards him. "Here, it's oolong."
"We have two months until Dazzeler and The Crystal Dragonfly have their public reception." An image of the two's save the date card went up on the screen. It's incredible that they managed to tastefully combine the aesthetics of glam rock and wuxia, I need to look into who their event planner is.
"Your Ex has a press pass to the event since he works for Aurora Chronicle, which means that Morning Lodestar, Paragon Herald, Epoch Chronicles, and Society Gazette will be there too." The logos of each newspaper and head-shots of their respective crews for the event went up on the screen.
"Our goal is maximum impact. We don't want to just drop the bomb out of nowhere, we need to build the tension first." My expression at this point may have been slightly manic, judging from the concerned eyebrow raise from over the rim of his mug. Some people never took part in theater when they were children, and it shows.
"You want to break the internet don't you?" I sent him an indulgent smile. "Oh Lovely," he choked on his tea at the endearment, "you're thinking too small. Of course we're going to break the internet, if twitter doesn't crash I'm losing my touch. I'm aiming for the history books here."
"Hurk- Ok. Ok ok, cool cool cool we're doing pet names now." He shimmied in place a little as he took a series of deep breaths. Interesting reaction, I would be using that one again.
He stared at me in thought for a moment, looking for all the world like a disgruntled chipmunk before smiling and nodding his head. "Ok then Dearheart, so we stage a months long secret love affair using your super scary tech and blow the minds of everyone who's ever heard of us. I'm guessing we need to do some acting between now and the wedding?"
Scatterbrain he may sometimes be, but the man can catch on quick. My face broke out into a gleeful grin that I had been told made me look like a slasher movie villain. "We're going to have a very loud, very public fight. Clear your schedule, I'm going to put you through an acting bootcamp. We're going to run lines and blocking for this until you can do it in your sleep."
All the world's a stage, and I am a meticulous director.
To be continued…

OC-Tober Day 20: Doing something stupid
Prompt: Doing something stupid
I used the OC-tober list made by @icannotreadcursive

OCs: Zid and Sylv
Zid sighed and watched as the visor on his helmet fogged up before clearing. Sylv was next to him in a specially made space suit. He glanced at the odd compartment on the back that his wings tucked into. “Wish this place had better oxygen?”
“Can’t be picky when we need the money. Just be glad this is legal. Don’t want to deal with a job like that.”
Zid grumbled as Sylv held up the scanner.
“What are we looking for again?”
Sylv looked at the arm of his suit. “Looks like a plant.” He angled the screen towards Zid so he could see the image. “Apparently, it's medicine.”
“Hmm.” Zid motioned in a direction. “I’ll check over there.”
“Stay close.”
“Okay.”
As Zid walked off, he turned to make sure he could still see Sylv. “So when we find this plant?”
“We harvest it.”
“Ah.“ He gently pushed past a bush. “How much are we getting?”
“Twenty per plant.”
“Twenty what?”
“Twenty hundred.”
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah, but they’re really rare.”
Zid paused at the sight of an odd plant. It had a glow that had Zid tipping his head to the side. “That’s cool.”
“Don’t touch it.”
“I wasn't.”
“Yes, you were. You have a tone.”
“I do not.” Zid stepped closer to peer up at the bell shaped plant. It hung from the tree like a bell, and when the wind blew, it made a ringing sound. “It’s cool looking, and it sounds like a bell when the wind blows.”
“Zid.” The warning was clear.
“I’m not touching it.”
Sylv let out a low growl that had Zid rolling his eyes.
“I’m not!” He turned away from the plant to stick his tongue out in Sylv’s direction. “I don’t touch everything.”
“You do something stupid on every planet we visit.”
“Do not.”
“Do, too.”
Zid rolled his eyes but turned back to the plant. The glow of the plant was curious he just wanted to see how it was producing the light. He stepped closer and tipped his head sideways to look up the bell of the plant. His foot kicked something, causing him to look down. “Woah. Is that a skull?”
“Zid?”
“It’s a skull. It’s bone.” He knelt to pick it up. It was odd shaped and had strange marks. “Looks like something was chewing on it.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t stand there?”
“I didn't see any creatures. Just plants.” Something dripped onto the ground, and Zid looked over. He tipped his head in question before looking up at the bell shaped plant. “Just this weird plant.”
“I’m coming to you.”
“Okay. But it’s just me and this tree with the flowers.” Zid stood back up to look closer at the plant. He frowned as he squinted at the inside of the flower. “Odd.”
“What?”
“The plant is dripping something.”
“Like what?”
“Goo.”
“Goo?”
“Yeah.” Zid looked at the skull and held it up to the plant, only to let out a yelp when the plant snapped around the skull. He jerked back and took a few steps away. His heart was thundering in his chest. The flower slithered up into the tree, and Zid gave a nervous chuckle. There was muffled yelling as he kept backing up, looking at the trees around him.
“Zid!” Sylv crashed through the bush. He caught Zid’s arm in a tight grip as he looked around them. “Where is it?”
“It's in the tree.”
“What?”
“I held the skull up to the flower, and it took the skull.”
Sylv looked at him with an incredulous look. “Really!” He smacked the back of Zid’s helmet. Zid let out a yelp from the clunk. “I said don’t touch anything.”
“I didn’t.”
“You…” Sylv let out a huff in anger before twisting and heading back through the bush. “Get over here!”
Zid looked up at the trees with wide eyes before he took off after Sylv. “Can I carry the blaster?”
“Fine.” Sylv passed the pistol over. “Just don’t shoot anything that’s not trying to kill us.” Zid gave him a nod as he held the pistol in his hand. His eyes darted along the branches of the trees.
“I think I should have stayed on the ship.”
Sylv huffed an amused laugh. “You would still find trouble.”
“Would not.”
Sylv gave his arm a pat as he looked over the scanner. “Yes, you would.”
Zid gave a grumble as he watched the trees around them. He wasn’t planning to leave Sylv’s side for anything.

Old Art: Inktober 2022, part 2
Continuing on from last time, here's days 16-31. Sorry it took longer to get to than I expected.
Day 16: Fowl More issues with the scanner! Why didn't I just find something to weigh down that edge? Anyway, this one was fun to draw, with a mix of various mircon pens, including brush tip ones for those big, chunky lines. The wings are... less than ideal, but I think the twisting neck of the swan turned out well. The swan is one of those animals that looks beautiful, until it's angry, and then suddenly it's terrifying, with innumerable pseudo-teeth like a mouth full of needles. As October is the month of spooky things, I leaned into that.
Tumblr media
Day 17: Salty ...Oh come on, you were doing so well with the scanner, almost perfect in fact, but you went back to the phone camera again? Come on. The look is kind of iffy as well, just like the Crabby one featuring these same two characters. I think the weird face on the mom was intentional, though, in order to match the unintentionally weird look of her previously.
Tumblr media
Day 18: Scrape Now there we go, there's a nice, clean scan, and an image I'm proud of. Girl in maid outfit, sharpening her cleaver thing. I think it's a girl, at least. If I recall, some degree of ambiguity was the goal. I did still screw up the hands kind of and made that arm chunkier than I wanted, but making heavy use of grey ink let me actually draw something that would read as black without being pitch black and indiscernible. The hair was drawn with an unknown blue-purple fountain pen ink. Really wish I could remember which one that was.
Tumblr media
Day 19: Ponytail More adventures in brush-tip micron pens. This is a redraw/other angle of a character I drew just before Inktober 2022 began, but I don't think I quite captured him in the same way. His legs also ended up weirdly stubby here.
Tumblr media
Day 20: Bluff Ahhhghhhhh, bad scan again, and it made key parts of the art blurry. Damn. I should really re-scan this one. At least the image is alright, even if one shadow is distractingly dark. I chose to shade this largely with horizontal lines mostly as an experiment, which I think worked out decently and would have worked better if I had committed even more to it. The subject here is the man from the previous day, standing on the topographic feature called a bluff. The best part of the image, I think, is the way I worked the number and prompt into the river.
Tumblr media
Day 21: Bad Dog A grotesque, monstrous creature, vaguely canid, with no skin and spikey bits all over. Bit of hair here and there. Overall, I like it. Don't really have much else to say.
Tumblr media
Day 22: Heist This anatomy sucks but I drew it quickly, more quickly than something that took up this much of the page normally would. Evidently, I even managed to get it to scan properly! This is not meant to be any character in particular, by the way.
Tumblr media
Day 23: Booger You ever just sneeze out an entire slimegirl? I like several things about this, from the way I was able to give the look of transparency to how swollen the sick man's face looks. I'm sure I've drawn plenty better, but I do quite like this one, gross as it is.
Tumblr media
Day 24: Fairy Call me old fashioned, but personally I believe fairies should be nude. Well, okay, Touhou Project fairies do really well with big poofy dresses or even american flag pattern spandex, but other than that, keep 'em naked.
Tumblr media
Day 25: Tempting All across the Halloween-observing world (i.e. the United States and not much of anywhere else), children are asked to simply not touch a bowl full of candy, sitting out for anywhere from the day leading up to trick-or-treating to all month long. Imagine! Here, we see a child eyeing up a brass bowl full of all sorts of treats. The temptation is palpable.
Tumblr media
Day 26: Ego Max Stirner, father of Individualist Egoism, wields an AK, wearing a shirt with torn-off sleeves, with a waifish girl clutching his chest. Need I say more?
Tumblr media
Day 27: Snack Another kind of goofy one from a perspective sense and I could have afforded to put more pink on that pig in the front. However, I'm overall happy with the chonky dragon design. Hog after hog has gone down his gullet, and now he looks a little like one himself.
Tumblr media
Day 28: Camp I enjoy making recurring characters that exist only for each Inktober. As it turns out the girl(?) from Scrape and the guy from Ponytail and Bluff are either an item or good friends. And hey, look, that cleaver works as an axe to gather and split firewood! I did better with the treeline here than I normally do when I try to draw such a thing. Plenty of room for improvement still. At least this one has a decent amount of color.
Tumblr media
Day 29: Uh-Oh Due to the ancient subject matter, I chose to use entirely brown tones to give this one a sepia look. The ancients had cats, and by all accounts I've ever read, their behavior has not changed a bit throughout the entire course of the history of feline domestication. Here, we see a cat which has located a bucket of something, left carelessly on a ledge. Below, a just minding his own business is about to have a bad day. Is this scene Roman? Greek? Something else? I don't know, but it's ancient something somewhere somewhen, or maybe even pure fantasy. No matter the circumstance, no matter the time or place or plane of existence, cats will cause problems on purpose.
Tumblr media
Day 30: Gear An amorphous creature with a gear incorporated into its body and other gear around its gaping maw. It is an uneven, asymmetric, shambling beast. One of its hands is even beginning to turn gear-like, with gear teeth on the back side of each digit. I think the best part of this piece is the mouth. Gear piece here were colored with Diamine Ancient Copper ink.
Tumblr media
Day 30 31: Farm Oops. This one was rough because I was busy all day and couldn't think of the perfect thing to draw for the entire day up until the evening, when I suddenly chose to embark on a pumpkin field... Or a jack-o-lantern field, rather. They're naturally like that, at least on Halloween. For something I rushed at the end of the day, I honestly don't think it looks half bad, and I'm glad I actually made it full color, even if the coloring is sloppy. Not that any other days were much less sloppy. And yes, I did write 30 there instead of 31. I didn't notice until the next morning. Here, I've put a transparent white square and a yellow numeral "1" on top of it, to correct the day while retaining a legacy of my error
Tumblr media
...And that's all. I'll be participating in Inktober again this year, but that's not for a few more months. Stay tuned until then, as I'll be posting newer art as well as more compilations and commentary on my older work, including previous years of Inktober. And, thanks for reading.

War...Hold up, do we really need a warning for this one? Dunno, but however, watch out for slightly disturbing and kinda…disgusting imagery, trypophobic patterns, as well as ‘necrotic’ (and dark themed) designs I made while having funky fever bc o h m y g o d do I get a little crazier every new quarantine day (and at this point it’s coming to be an usual thing for me, big sad). However, most are made no other than for the sole sake of satire, so y’know, no need to get your underwear in a twist

Friday Night Funkin’ BoyFriend’s Hood – AU fanconcept sketches [XXIV]
EDIT 26/10/2023: Updated the drawing with a rescanned, more clean version
Fun fact, I showed this to my grandma the other, and kid you not, she ended up finding way more figures than what's seen here, from a dog to a bird, passing by a bunch of faces. It was awesome, truly a unique experience for sure
1.-Dadaist Lezor
Remember lizard kid from the comic ver? Yeah this is him in adulthood, shit's really hit the fan on his behalf
So, for context: He's a member of the dada movement, which, for the uninformed, was an "anti-art" movement from around the 1900 (i think?) whose objective was to protest against the academy's concept of what art could and could not be -basically mockery towards the concept of 'good' esthetics back then art-wise. I heard my art history teacher talk about it, and even though it came off as somewhat uneasy, with the time I caught some interest on the concept behind it, and well...here it is
My purpose on the making of his design was to do something senseless, patternless and basically totally against anything that could be considered 'fashionable', hence why he got so much stuff onto him and most of which doesn't match up with each other.
Heck, even his hair is a mess
Just look at it
it makes no mfing sense
Had a lot of fun doing him and am proud of the result tho, wish my scanner wasn't so trash so you could see the design better than what's displayed here
Not an easy boy to sprite out though, specially with that tail covered with a shit ton of stuff-
2.- Dadaist Brick
Oh shoot, satyr kid got onto the stuff too
Wanted to try again, couldn't do it as blowed as the first one though
I still think it looks sick
3.-Lezor icon
He mad
4.-Brick icon
Also mad
5.-Small Lezor
why you yelling-
6.-Calm Steinkion
Woo, look at that, it's the science shroom guy from SD III
Callbacks ftw
7.-The bird duo
oh no
i forgot their names help-
8.-Feral Snakeye
okay-
9.-BF but something's not alright
Smells like something's rotting
...won't make assumptions wooo-
10.-Cute Puppil
I know he's an abomination in a way
But he's a cute abomination still, isn't he?
11.-Rings
Tried to do Q-zin and Brit's proposal rings, but didn't get through with it :(
12.-DADA!
Graffiti test
13.-Bottle
Bottle
14.-Eye earring
Momzst jewelry be like
15.- ZomBoyFlower
Concept crossover woo
He looks nasty though-

my acetate cel materials test sheet. took 3 hours to paint the colors on, so hopefully that gets faster (granted, it does have 4 faces on it) but i definitely wish i'd put more time into making the test drawings be a little more... on model.
i used grafix 8.5 x 11 acetate sheets (about 25 cents a sheet where i bought it) (i went for printer sheet sized cause it's the size of my scanner's scanning bed.) All the actual lineart is done with a technical pen with koh-i-noor acetate ink in it. i tested all my regular liners and stuff (pentel pocket brush pen, sakura pigma microns and brush version, white gel pens, sharpies) just to see if i was going overkill by buying a 22$ pen and 7$ ink i'll use Only For This and nope, everything else wipes off readily except regular sharpie, which is unfortunately just not opaque enough for lineart. (weirdly, the sharpie liner wiped off so completely it's just a smudge) Although i did the white highlights in gel pen anyway, cause it's easy and a little bit more stable than some of the regular liner's inks
Even the special acetate ink is a little fragile and takes a while to dry. Note the smudges on the upper-left drawing, which i inked first. the acrylic is just cheap-ish DecoArt brand i got in a set because it had close-enough colors for most of ragged's design, but if i continue Seriously i might invest in 10$ a pot to get vinyl paints, cause although only one brand out there now still labels it as specifically animation paint (toon tones) afaict most vinyl paint should be the same thing. at least for painting cels in western animation
here are some things i've learned about the medium from this:
it's freaky how much it looks like digital art in person. the colors are so impossibly flat and smooth, which you don't think about much when looking at old animation because it has the texture of the film grain on it
harder to color in the lines than you think. especially when your colors cover up the lines. probably gonna have to try to draw a little bigger. a good reason for that stylistic choice of having thicker outlines just for the outer edges though, i couldn't afford a second technical pen right now sooooo i'll just have to git gud
you Really gotta blob on the paint. this could be from getting cheap acrylics but footage i've seen of old production suggests that's just how it is. a softer brush was better for it (i think it was a cheapo watercolor brush?) but i could only use that for fairly big areas cause it splayed out wider
it seems like the acrylic faintly warped the acetate, i think from the acrylic shrinking as it dries. in general, the cel got pretty wibbly from just handling it. Later productions did use polyester instead of acetate and perhaps that is less affected, but i don't think i feel a need to have archival quality materials, at least not when i'm just experimenting and am going to digitally composite my animation anyway. (and acetate was cheaper than Dura-Lar)
gonna have to solve the shadows it casts in the scanner, even when the lid is pressing it down. it's a pretty cool-looking effect for just an image, but it's gonna be annoying in the video editing stage (and the smooth flat colors make it super obvious to me that my scanner's colors are really off, i still had to edit this but didn't bother making it totally irl accurate)
taking out the light table for this was a pretty good idea even though i wasn't animating, cause it made it real easy to check for missed or thin spots on the paint
cotton gloves to avoid fingerprints made me feel like a Cool Serious Artist, and then i didn't have to scrub paint off my fingers afterwards
i feel like i really Get something about why old animation looked A Certain Way that i didn't understand just from reading about it, but can't put it succinctly into words. aside from that and the fun of Nerdiness, research and bragging rights i'm not sure i'd suggest animating like this when digital tools are available, cause once you put it on a screen it just looks like digital art anyway

Warnings: mentions of Gwen's death, violence, language, canon-level fighting and crime, grief, minor angst
A/N: This is my first TASM!Peter piece, but I have a feeling I'm going to get hooked and want to write more for him! Please let me know what you think - reblogs and comments are always welcome :) x

Word spread around the city that Spiderman was different. More violent towards criminals. Didn’t stop to chat with his fans. J. Jonah Jameson had a field day every time another story came out about Spiderman’s cruelty. You didn’t want to believe it, but it started happening so often, it was too hard to ignore.
He wasn’t your responsibility, but what good is being a villain if the hero assigned to you is going off the rails? It made every job you took boring - and you didn’t do well with being bored.
You noticed the famous web-slinger flying through the alleys one night, and you took it upon yourself to follow him. Sometimes you listened to the police scanners just to know what part of the city you should avoid, but now you listened to know where Spiderman was going to appear next. Reports of a bank robbery were flooding in, and you knew that was where he was off to.
The suspects fled the scene. Go figure. Spiderman was hot on their trail, and you were right behind him. You didn’t get to the suspects first, but you landed in the alleyway just as he slammed one guy’s head into the dumpster more times than necessary. The wet smack of his skull against the metal made you cringe. You quickly ran up to intercept him, but the man was already slumped over before you could.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” You gasped as you assessed him. His breathing was shallow, but he would live. You turned back towards Spiderman, who was already trying to swing off, but you latched onto his wrist before he could. “You could have killed him!”
“Why do you care?” Spiderman bit back. “He’s a criminal who needed to be stopped, and I stopped him.”
“He’s a thief who looks barely old enough to drink. He didn’t deserve to get his brains smashed in.”
He scoffed. “As if you care who really gets hurt in this city. Didn’t your last job end up with three people dead?”
“Three pedophiles are dead, yes. Do I have any regrets? No, but those are the cards I’ve dealt in my life. You’re supposed to be better than this.”
“Maybe I’m not anymore.”
His voice broke at the end. You moved to reach out for him again, but he flinched. Something must have happened in his personal life, and you weren’t on good enough terms to get him to tell you, but for a brief moment you wished he would. Just to get it out in the open. Just to let out whatever pain he fostered inside of his stupid spidey heart.
You sighed. “Listen, you don’t need to go down this path. You’re not like us bad guys, Spidey. You’re not irredeemable, and I don’t think you should let the world believe you are.”
You weren’t sure if he liked what you said because he swung away without another word, but you silently prayed he would listen. A thought crossed your mind after another beat, and you internally groaned. You knew you wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about the idea now that you’ve thought it. It was stupidly self-righteous of you, but you had no other choice now.
If Spiderman wanted to beat the shit out of criminals, you were going to get to the crime scene before he did and take care of them yourself. Every potential step down the dark path was going to be thwarted by you. And you hated it. You weren’t supposed to be the good guy; you weren’t supposed to care about chaos running through the city. But for some stupid reason, you cared about Spiderman. You couldn’t let him make things worse on himself.
Tumblr media
At first it had been a challenge. Spiderman had a horrible advantage with his web-slinging. He could soar over some of the tallest buildings, while you were stuck running on foot. Even with your enhanced speed, you still struggled. You solved the issue by stealing a motorcycle from one of the criminals Spiderman got a hold of before you could.
The guy was already hospitalized - it wasn’t like he was gonna need the bike for a while anyways.
Having the ability to swerve in and out of traffic made things much easier. You arrived on scene minutes before Spidey could, and it was enough time to apprehend whoever caused the trouble. At first, he didn’t say anything about it. He simply scoffed and swung off, leaving you to follow him to make sure he didn’t cause any more trouble.
But by the fifth scene you secured before he could, he finally snapped. He was tired of seeing you there to help the bad guys. Tired of feeling all the pent up aggression inside of him have no place to be let out. Mostly, he was tired of you looking at him like you pitied him because you had no idea what he was going through. He didn’t want your pity. He just wanted you to leave him the hell alone.
He caught you on a rooftop one night, getting ready to jump in on a mugging. He ripped you off the ledge and slammed you down onto the gravel. You cursed but made no move to fight him off.
“Why are you doing this?” He shouted in your face. His hands gripped the front of your suit so tight, you were surprised it didn’t tear. If he didn’t have a mask, you imagined his nose would be pressed against yours.
“I told you, Spidey. You’re better than this, and I’m making sure you don’t ruin your image to the point of no return.”
He let go and stumbled back almost as if he were caught off guard by your words. Most people resorted to hating him now. Even the kids who once looked up to him pretended not to see him swinging through the sky because they knew the Spiderman they saw wasn’t the same. It was almost as if they could see the empty shell of a man he became.
He certainly didn’t expect you to care. You met three years ago when he caught you trying to swipe a painting from the Museum of Modern Art. When you spoke to him then, he felt nothing but venom in your words. You can’t possibly understand what it is like to need to steal to survive, you said. Sure, the more he intercepted your jobs, the more you warmed up to him. The hateful comments turned into witty quips that left him wondering if you were flirting with him or not. Not that he would ever entertain flirting with you when he was with Gwen.
When.
Spiderman cleared his throat and looked down at you. You continued to lie there and look up at him, clearly trying to figure out if you were going to have to kick his shins in just to stop him from swinging away again. He held out his hand to help you up. You reluctantly took it and brushed the bits of gravel stuck to your suit once you were fully up.
“I lost someone recently,” he murmured. “It was my fault. I couldn’t save her, and she- she shouldn’t have been in danger in the first place. If she didn’t know my secret-”
“You know that’s bullshit right?” You cut him off with a huff.
“What?”
“I know what you are going to say. ‘If she didn’t know my secret, she wouldn’t have gotten hurt’ as if that was a decision for you to make.” You adjusted your mask over your nose, being careful not to let him get a glimpse at too much of your face. “Leaving her in the dark could just as easily have gotten her killed. You can’t change the threads of Fate once they’ve been woven, so at least you had her while you could.”
He shook his head. “You don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Maybe I don’t. I have plenty of enemies, but I haven’t had the opportunity to know what real love is like. I think you’re lucky,” you paused to give yourself a moment to climb back onto the ledge, “And if she was great enough to leave you in ruins when she died, I know she wouldn’t have wanted to see you this way. Get your shit together, Spidey. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You leapt from the ledge, leaving him to ponder on your words. You weren’t sure why you had such a soft spot for the hero. Maybe he gave you hope that not every superhero was a jackass. Sometimes the ones you interacted with were insufferable and just wanted to throw you in jail, but Spiderman? He always tried to have conversations with you. Most of the time it was only witty banter that went on until he decided to web you up, but it was still more decency than anyone had shown you before. It gave you hope - made you believe he saw something good in you that you stopped seeing a long time ago.
You glanced up at the roof and hoped he would take your advice. Until then, you would keep ruining every plan he had to beat the shit out of people.
Tumblr media
You expected to run into Spiderman the next day, but you grew suspicious when you arrived at four crime scenes and he never showed up. You continued on for several days in hopes he would come, but days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into a month. Headlines started to change from “SPIDEY-MENACE STRIKES AGAIN” to “Spiderman abandoned the city when it needed him most.” You nearly rolled your eyes out of their sockets when you saw that.
The media spent so much time criticizing him, but now they cared because he no longer stopped crime?
All you could do was hope he didn’t get himself killed because he tried to hurt the wrong person. You doubted that was the case, but you still worried. You knew what some people were capable of, and you knew how much anger Spiderman kept close to his chest. Anger made people sloppy. What if he slipped up and got himself hurt because he finally let the anger win?
You shook your head. You couldn’t let yourself think about it.
The news caught on to a “new hero” saving the day, but they didn’t know who it was. You were grateful. The last thing you needed was for people to catch a picture of you saving someone instead of robbing them blind. But you didn’t want to stop either because you still hoped Spidey would show up and see you again. You held onto that hope for another six months before you began to wonder if the worst scenario really came true.
“You think Spiderman is ever going to come back?” Your friend, MJ, asked as you grabbed your coffee from the barista.
You pulled out one of the stools at the counter and took a seat. You tried not to sit too close to the guy who occupied the corner seat, but his shit was everywhere, so it wasn’t as if he made it easy.
“I don’t know,” you replied. “I just hope he isn’t dead.”
MJ gasped. “Do you think he could be?”
You shrugged but chose not to answer. Yes, you did think so. Why else would he fall off the face of the earth without saying anything? You hated jumping to conclusions, but your world was full of the worst case scenarios. What else were you supposed to think?
“Well, I guess if he is dead then Black Cat is off the hook, huh? You can start stealing from the museums again!” MJ teased, nudging your arm with her elbow.
You shushed her, missing the way the man next to you seemed to lift his head at her words. “I told you that in confidence, you crazy-pants. Are you trying to get us killed? I have too many enemies for you to fuck around like that.”
“First of all, you didn’t tell me. I found out because you leave your suit lying around the apartment. Second, you know what I mean. It was only a matter of time before you got caught doing Spiderman’s work, did you really want a hero title?”
She gently squeezed your arm and turned her attention to her phone. “I gotta go. See you tonight for dinner?”
You nodded and bid her a quiet goodbye as you looked down at your coffee. You didn’t want a hero title. You just wanted Spiderman back.
Heat started to burn the side of your face, and you looked over to see the man in the corner staring at you. The look on his face made your stomach turn, so you offered him a shy smile and quickly left the coffee shop. You made a mental note to check the camera feed of the place later to try and locate his face. If he overheard your conversation then you were going to have to threaten him into silence. You groaned. This was so not how you wanted to spend your Saturday night.
You slipped into the crowd without a word, but you could feel the guy following you. Hair rose on the back of your neck, and you tried to slip deeper into the crowded sidewalk but he stayed close to your heels. You didn’t have any of your weapons on you and that’s what made you panic. At best, you had a comb that could be used as a shank, but it was at the bottom of your bag and you weren’t sure if you had enough time to grab it.
You just needed a distraction. You glanced down at a kid scarfing down an ice cream and smirked. Good enough. You fisted the scoop of ice cream right off the cone and lobbed it at the man. It hit him in the middle of his chest, and he looked down at it in surprise. The kid’s mother started to yell at you just as he began to wail. It was enough of a distraction to get you down the sidewalk and out of sight.
Your lungs burned by the time you turned down an alley to catch your breath. You looked down at your hand and frowned as you tried to shake off the excess goop on it. Was it your slickest moment? No. Did it still work? You sure hoped so because you weren’t in the mood to kick anyone’s ass to keep your secret right now. You were hoping for nothing more than mild threatening, but look at where those hopes got you!
“How did you know I liked mint chocolate chip?” Someone laughed from the entrance of the alley. He must have noticed the way you jumped and reached for the nearest thing that could be used as a weapon because he held up his hands in surrender. “Wait! Wait! I’m sorry- I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snuck up on you. Or chased you down the sidewalk.”
Your grip tightened around the broken plywood, but you didn’t take a step forward. “You think? What the hell did you think you were going to accomplish by following me?”
“Listen, I know this probably makes it worse on myself, but I heard you and your friend talking at the café.”
“You’re right, it does make it worse, so I’m going to give you ten seconds to talk or I’ll turn your brain into Jell-O.”
Something about your words made his eyes twinkle. His nervous smile changed into something more sly, and you couldn’t put your finger on why that didn’t make you feel as unsettled as it should have.
“That would just be hypocritical of you,” he teased. “Do you want to be known as a hypocrite? I mean, what would Spiderman think?”
“What does he-” Your eyes grew wide. You scolded Spiderman for trying to de-brain a criminal, and you know the ones who got their asses kicked wouldn’t remember what your conversation was…which meant…
You closed the distance between you and gently punched him over the ice cream stain on his shirt. “You! You bastard! I thought you were dead, and you’re spending all your free time stalking women at coffee shops?”
“To be fair, I haven’t been stalking anyone. You just happened to be my first victim.” He held out his hand, making you scoff at how polite he was trying to be right now. “My name’s Peter Parker. I think we have a lot to catch up on.”
You smacked at his hand. “Don’t make it weird. You’re only revealing yourself to me because you feel bad that I got outed fifteen minutes ago.”
He laughed but you noticed he didn’t deny it. You took this moment to finally get a look at his face. You never wondered what Spidey looked like under that mask of his because you respected his privacy, but now that you were seeing him with your own two eyes, it didn’t feel real. You hated that he was so handsome. It made everything about his persona even more insufferable than before.
“I took what you said to heart,” he confessed quietly. His eyes focused on his shoes, but you kept your gaze locked on his face. “I got some help. I knew it was going to take time, so I hung up the suit for a bit to focus on getting better.”
You smiled softly and reached out to grab his hand. He didn’t pull away from your touch but gave you a gentle squeeze instead. “I’m glad to hear you’re doing better. I told ya, you’re better than us criminals.”
To avoid getting into a deep conversation, you gave his hand another squeeze and slipped around him. You were relieved to know that Spiderman wasn’t dead, but everything that happened within the last twenty minutes was catching up in your brain and making you dizzy. You needed to make a break for it.
“You aren’t irredeemable, you know,” he called after you. You stopped, turning your head just enough to see him out of the corner of your eye. “You took the time to help me, and now I’m going to take the time to make sure you know it too.”
You stuck out your chin defiantly. “Is that a threat, Parker?”
He smiled - a big crooked smile that made your heart race in your chest. “It’s a promise.”

Today has been a very bad day. It is very hot here and I almost fainted since I am on my period 😭😭😭 and have a heavy flow ( the joys of being a woman). And I still have a couple of hours of work to go. How do you think Syverson would react when he hears that ? I think I need some cuddly bear hugs from him. 🥺🥺🥺
Tumblr media
BB, sorry you had a rough day, I hope that you are at home now feeling better. :/ Here is a little something for you to brighten the mood. I changed it a bit, hope it'll still make you happy.
Summary: You are having the worst day at work and just when you think things can't get worse, you are surprised by an unlikely visitor.
Pairing: Syverson x Reader (no mention of ethnicity or body type)
Words: 913
Warnings: Period cramps, fluff.
A/N: Not beta'd and I am quite drained, hope it turned out alright. I decided to change the scenario a bit because I always had these silly fantasies when I was working in retail hell as a student.
The Customer
Raw, gnawing pain wove within your womb, the convulsing pressure so tight you felt the unbidden desire to hurl or at least seek a ditch to crawl into and cry your agony away.
Sadly, there were still a couple of hours left before you finished your shift, and rather than snuggling on your couch at home, watching Clueless for the 400th time, you were forced to smile at people and pretend you are as bright as a daisy when you knew for sure you looked like something that slithered its way out of hell.
"You okay there, sunshine?" A low gravelly timbre greeted as a customer stood before you.
You made no effort to meet his face, your weary eyes peering at nothing while you leaned on the counter, wishing you were anywhere but here.
"Peachy..." you retorted listlessly.
The man chuckled lightly, placing something heavy on the cashier's desk that made the polished wood rumble beneath your elbows.
"Great, because I'd really like to pay for these."
Deeply, you sighed and stretched to stand up. Your eyes flew to briefly meet the customer when your heart dropped to your bawls and your cheeks caught in flame.
Of course, from all days, the Captain had to visit the hardware store today, when you felt and looked horrendous.
Every girl in town worshipped Big Sy, and you were no exception, though; could anyone blame you? He was no man but an Adonis, 'The God of War' as the townsmen used to call him for his good looks and occupation. Whenever Sy came home from one of his deployment, the girls would run around in silly attempts to hook up with him, but Sy was always too busy running errands for his ma, fixing the old farmhouse and meeting with his boys at the local pub during the nights.
"Sure you're okay, Sunshine?" Sy asked again, tilting his head to get a better look at you which only made you wish the earth would open up and swallow you alive.
"Mhmm," you nodded and reached for the heavy toolbox placed on the desk. Your hands shook as you attempted to lift it and scan the barcode.
"Here, let me help," Sy insisted and, with one hand, lifted the heavy toolbox for you. Bulging veins decorated his solid, lengthy arms, though his hands, as oil-stained and dirty as they were, seemed so elegant looking. You couldn't help but wonder how they would feel caressing your forearms and perhaps even tight against your aching belly. Would they be callous? Or soft? Would their warmth take away the twinge? He seemed rather tepid in his fiery red t-shirt and the stains of sweat that dampened the fabric around his collar.
The loud beep of the scanner brought you back to reality. Sy grinned and lifted a large hammer for you to scan next.
"That'll be all, Sy?" you asked.
The Captain arched an eyebrow and then smiled cockily, his cerulean eyes filled with light. It was at that moment you realised you weren't supposed to know his name. Oh god! You hoped for some sudden cataclysmic event to end your suffering right here, right now.
"That'll be all, sunshine," he said and reached for his wallet, fishing for a crumpled bill of 50s and held it between his fingertips. Feeling your entire face burning with shame, you snatched the cash and make the fastest work ever of finalising the purchase.
Grabbing his equipment, Sy bit his bottom lip languidly and scanned you up and down.
"I'll see you around." He winked and then turned around and walked out of the store. The moment the door shut behind him, you slumped onto the desk and breathed out as if you've been holding your breath this entire time. You thought this day couldn't get any worse, but apparently, you were proven wrong, and now, for some stupid reason, tears began to gather in your eyes.
You always had this fantasy that you would bump into Sy at the street, or maybe at the pub - when you are wearing a tight summer dress, looking insanely attractive and making his head spin. This was far from what you dreamed of, and now you could only assume whatever chance you had with Sy was all but gone.
Holding back the will to cry, you swallowed the dryness in your throat and rubbed your damp eyelids when the door flew open, and the Captain marched in once again.
"Oh," you jumped to your feet and fixed your hair absentmindedly, "did you forget something?"
"Yeah," Sy answered, his voice low and loud, drenched with confidence, "forgot my damn manners."
Bemused, you frowned and shook your head when Sy placed his elbows onto the counter and gave you a piercing glare. "Ma'am, I don't know what your manager did or said to you today. If you want me to kick his ass, I might, but before that, I'd like to know when your shift ends because I see a young woman in desperate need of some ice cream, and I know the best place in town."
Unable to explain to him the real situation, you chuckled nervously and looked away, "my shift ends in a couple of hours..."
Syverson tapped his fingers onto the desk and nodded.
"See you in two hours then," he sang and then turned toward the exit before giving you another wink.
For the next 10 minutes, you stood there gaping.

Piss Off Your Parents - Part 1
Ukai Keishin - Haikyuu

Second, use the store owner's 26-year-old son with piercings and a cigarette addiction to piss your parents off. Third, accidentally fall in love.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: none
Song → 18 by Anarbor
A/N: if you couldn’t already tell, I have planned this as a series/full story. I was torn between writing it on here or on Wattpad or something, but ultimately decided on Tumblr . . . but let me know if you would prefer it on another platform as well! Also, this series will eventually include smut/NSFW content but that will be tagged appropriately when the time comes. As always, I hope you enjoy.
Next →Part 2
Tumblr media
Slamming the front door behind yourself on your way out that morning, you quickly stuffed your earbuds into your ears and cranked your music as loud as you could to drown out the sounds of your parents yelling after you and, consequently, at one another after you had dropped the bomb about your new job on them seconds before you had left, giving them as little time as possible to shame you for it.
After graduating high school and turning 18, you had decided it was time to take your life into your hands, which wasn’t too easy while you were still living under your parents’ roof, but you had to start somewhere and that somewhere was getting a job at the local corner store, Sakanoshita Market.
You knew that your parents wanted you to go to university and ‘make something of yourself’, but you also knew that you could never truly be happy under their dictatorship-like ruling, so you decided to get a job, no matter how shitty, save your money, move out as soon as possible, and go from there.
It was definitely going to be a process, and not an easy one, but all you had to do was take it one step at a time.
Rounding the corner and seeing the market in the distance, you felt your nerves begin to bubble inside of you a little. Sure, you had gotten some part-time jobs here and there during summer vacation before, but you had never gotten a full-time job before and had never needed the money from a job like you did now. Before, the cash you made was for extra spending money during the summer and school year, but now the money you would be making would be funding your future. It seemed like a lot of pressure to put on a job that entailed stocking shelves, checking out customers, and cleaning.
The lady who had hired you had basically explained that since she was getting older and her son, who had been maintaining the place previously, had gotten a new job, the store needed someone to learn the ropes and take care of the place on a daily basis; and since you were young, a fast learner, and didn’t have anything else in your life besides work, you were a perfect fit.
As the shop doors slid open smoothly to welcome you into the store you had been inside countless times in the past, you suddenly felt completely out of place in the familiar market. Now that you were an employee instead of a customer, the atmosphere had completely shifted. Instead of heading right for the fridges to grab a drink like you usually did, your eyes shifted immediately to the front counter where a figure with its feet up hid behind an open newspaper.
Just like every other time you had visited while the store owner’s son was working, he did everything humanly possible to avoid interaction. Usually, you would have appreciated not being bothered while trying to scan the shelves, but since this time was different, the lack of acknowledgement was slightly unnerving.
“Ahem,” you cleared your throat, hoping it was enough to catch his attention. It was not. Instead, he flipped the page of the newspaper and you watched as a hand emerged from behind the paper barrier to flick the ashes from his cigarette into an ashtray sitting beside the register.
Eyebrows furrowed, you really wished that the shop owner herself had been there to greet you for your first day instead of her seemingly useless son. “Hello.” You stepped up to the counter, the feeling of not belonging sinking deeper into your bones.
Slowly, the newspaper separating you from the man behind the counter lowered and the shop owner’s son glared back at you, eyes half-lidded as if he were seconds away from falling asleep and the cigarette from before hanging from his bottom lip. This was far from the first time you had interacted with him, but you would be surprised if he remembered you as a customer even a little. Whenever he checked customers out, you could tell he was running on autopilot.
The man’s eyes drifted down to your hands, which were resting on top of the counter now. Noticing you didn’t have anything to purchase, he cocked a brow. “Need help finding somethin’?”
“Ugh, no,” you answered. “I’m the new employee. I’m supposed to start today.”
His eyes scanned you once more, this time more thoroughly, and you swallowed hard. Feeling as if you were being observed under a microscope, you slid your hands off of the counter and stuffed them into your pockets self-consciously.
As he inspected you inch by inch, you took the time to take a closer look at him as well. With dyed blonde hair, two earrings in his left ear, an apparent nicotine addiction, and a noticeably flippant attitude toward his job, he was the definition of the type of man your parents would kill you for bringing home. Somehow, this only made him more intriguing. You wondered if he really was as disinterested in everything as he seemed or if it was just this job he thoroughly hated and became someone a lot more interesting when he wasn’t behind a counter.
“How old are you?” he asked out of the blue, catching you off guard a little. While he waited for you to answer, he set the newspaper to the side, dragged his feet from the counter top, and patted out some of the wrinkles from the white apron he had tied around his bright orange sweatshirt.
“I’m 18,” you responded, not sure why it mattered but also not seeing any harm in answering honestly.
Seconds later, the door to the back of the shop and storage room opened and the familiar face of the woman who had hired you stepped into view. “Oh, Y/N!” she greeted happily; much more enthusiastically and welcoming than her son. “Sorry about that, I was just getting some last minute things together.” She eyed her son out of the corner of her eye and noted the fresh embers in the ashtray. “I hope you haven’t been waiting long.”
“No, I just got here,” you told her.
“Good.” She smiled sweetly before turning to her son. “Well, you can head out now, Keishin. Thank you for watching the counter.”
“Yeah,” the man, Keishin, grunted as he untied the apron from around his waist, slipped it over his head, and hung it up on a hook behind the counter. “See ya.”
With that, Keishin left, leaving you and his mother alone. Wasting no time, Mrs. Sakanoshita, whom the store was named after, got right to work on teaching you the basics and gifting you with a white apron of your own to wear while on the job. Since it was the middle of the day and the customer flow was relatively slow, she introduced you to how the register and scanner at the counter worked before moving on to unpacking boxes.
Just like you had promised on your resume and during the interview, you were a quick learner and Mrs. Sakanoshita was more than pleased to see you picking up the job quickly and efficiently.
By the time the after work/school rush of patrons picking up items on their way home had begun, you were feeling confident in your abilities and, with your boss by your side to answer any questions you may have, you checked out customer after customer, building up muscle memory for scanning items, collecting cash, opening the register, handing out receipts, and sending customers on their merry way.
All in all, the job was quickly growing on you. You liked the fact that, for the most part, you were the only employee on duty, so when there weren’t any customers in the store, you could work silently on unpacking boxes without having to worry about making small talk or being friendly with any coworkers. In fact, as far as you knew, the only people who worked at the store at all were you, Mrs. Sakanoshita, and her son, Keishin.
It seemed as though you had really landed a sweet gig.
After showing you how to lock up, Mrs. Sakanoshita headed home for the night, leaving you to finish stocking the shelves and cleaning the shop before you would head home as well.
Now that you were truly the only person left, you walked over to the old radio you had spotted on the counter during training that day and fiddled with the dials, trying to get some music playing to accompany you during your evening chores. After some careful handiwork and enduring some horrendous static and high-pitched screeching while searching for a station, you settled on what sounded like some old instrumental music and got to work on stocking the remaining shelves.
Throughout your shift, you quickly learned that the store got quite warm during the day and you had needed to tie your hair up to keep the back of your neck from dripping with sweat. The night wasn’t much better either, especially since the lack of customers so late meant that the doors rarely opened, keeping the cold night air outside and the warm store air inside.
After finishing the last box of supplies, you exhaled and wiped your brow. You were exhausted, that was for sure, but you still had to sweep.
Deciding to take a quick break, you turned toward the floor-to-ceiling fridges at the back of the shop and pulled open the door, sighing happily when the cool air hit your skin. Exhaling slowly, you snickered when you saw your breath fog up in front of you face.
“You’re letting all the cold air out.”
You shrieked when you heard a voice in your right ear and slammed the fridge door shut, jumping back in the process. Thanks to the music from the radio and the loud hum of the generator that kept the fridges cold, you hadn’t heard the front doors slide open or the footsteps of Keishin approaching you.
“Jesus!” You clamped your hand over your chest. “You scared the shit out of me!”
He shrugged nonchalantly. “Sorry?”
“What are you doing here?”
Keishin glared at you. “You work here one day and suddenly act like you own the place?”
Realizing how rude your question had come across, you composed yourself and rephrased. “What I meant was, your mom didn’t say you were coming back.”
Pointing upward, Keishin sighed, disinterested. “I live in the apartment above the shop.”
“Oh.” Things started making much more sense and you suddenly felt pretty embarrassed for how you had reacted.
“Yeah . . . oh.” He rolled his eyes, but it didn’t come across necessarily rude but more like he was exhausted and you were adding to said exhaustion. “Why were you standing with the door open anyway?”
As he spoke, he stepped toward you. At first, your feet felt cemented to the floor and you didn’t move. But when he persisted closer, you eventually stumbled back and Keishin opened the fridge door you had been standing in front of to grab a beer from inside. With drink in hand, he eyed you once again, waiting for an answer.
“It’s really hot,” you said, gesturing to his orange sweater. “I don’t know how you wear that thing in here.”
Looking down at his apparel, he just shrugged. “You’ll get used to it.” He turned and started for the counter, presumably to pay for the drink he had just taken. “In the future, stand outside if you’re warm.”
“Okay.” You nodded, mindlessly tailing him. You had to grab the broom from behind the counter anyway, but that was the furthest thing from the front of your mind at that moment. If anything, you were still trying to calm down a little from being startled and now being alone with your boss’s son. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” He popped the tab on the beer, settled into the stool behind the counter, and downed at least half of the drink in a few large gulps.
You watched him, probably a little too closely, and as you did you found yourself reexamining the features you had taken note of earlier that day: the dyed blonde hair held out of his face with a thin black headband, the natural brown hair that peeked out from the roots, the two small silver hoop earrings in his left ear, the scent of cigarette smoke that clung to him like how the smell of rain clung to the air after a heavy storm.
Noticing your gaze, which would have been nearly impossible to miss, Keishin quirked a brow at you and held out the can of beer toward you. “You want a sip?”
Startled from your thoughts, you shook your head. “I’m only 18.” You reminded him.
“Oh, right.” He withdrew the can and took another sip, this one much smaller than the first few. “Then why are you looking at me like that?”
Eyes wide, you thought quick to come up with an excuse. “The broom.” You pointed to the item behind him. “Can you pass me the broom?”
After handing you the broom, Keishin pulled a slip of paper and a pen out from his pocket and started writing and scribbling things down, sipping the remainder of his beer occasionally and ignoring you completely.
Trying to avoid staring at Keishin anymore than you already had, you started sweeping at the far end of the store and left the area around and behind the counter for last. Eventually, though, you had worked your way back over to the the silent man and was forced to clean the floor behind where he was sitting, trying hard not to disturb him.
Out of the corner of your eye, you caught a glimpse of what he was so focused on; it looked like a crude drawing of a volleyball court. “What’s that?” you asked, the words leaving your mouth before you realized you were being rude again and snooping.
Keishin, however, didn’t seem angry or annoyed in the slightest. “Volleyball positions,” he huffed. It was clear he was growing frustrated.
“You play volleyball?”
He shook his head and looked over his shoulder at you. “I used to. Now I coach the boy’s team at Karasuno.”
“I went to Karasuno,” you said mindlessly, just trying to make conversation at that point.
He hummed in response and turned his attention back to the sheet before him. “Did you play volleyball?”
“No. Soccer.”
“Do you still play?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Do you still play volleyball?”
“With a neighbourhood association sometimes . . . but not really.”
“Why?”
The corners of his mouth curling up into a smirk, Keishin looked back to you once more. “I asked you first.”
“It’s not a good answer.” You leaned against the broom handle and sighed. “Don’t have the time.”
“You’re young and just graduated high school. You’ve got nothing but time.”
“Not with this job.”
Keishin scoffed, folded the paper, and shoved it back into his pocket with the pen. “Speaking of which, why would you take such a boring job at a store like this?”
You just shrugged. “I need the money.”
“Don’t you live with your parents?”
“That’s the problem,” you said, noticing the confusion on his face. “I told you it wasn’t a good answer.”
“Do they know you work here?”
“Do they know? Yes,” you answered truthfully. “Do they like it? Absolutely not.”
Keishin grinned at that before finishing his beer and tossing the empty can into the recycling bin beside the front door. “So you’re one of those teens, huh?”
You frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Trust me, kid, pissing off your parents just for the sake of it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”
“You think I’m doing all this just because I can?”
“Aren’t you?”
“No.”
“Why then?”
“That story’s too long and convoluted for me to recite right now . . . especially to some old dude I just met today.”
Keishin chuckled under his breath, hands stuffed into his pockets as he headed for the door at the back of the shop so he could head upstairs to his apartment. “’Old dude’,” he repeated, clearly amused. “Don’t forget to lock up before you go home.”
As he turned his back to you, your curiosity got the better of you. “How old are you?”
Stopping in his tracks, Keishin pulled out a carton of cigarettes from his pants’ pocket along with a lighter. After placing the smoke between his lips, he lit it and inhaled deeply. “Too old for you, sweetheart,” he spoke while exhaling, smoke spilling from his lips as he smirked at you.
With that, he disappeared into the back. You wanted to shout after him that you had told him how old you were without hesitation when he had asked, but you stayed silent instead.
As much as his presence unnerved you and his superiority complex aggravated you, you still found yourself inexplicably drawn to him. Maybe it was because he seemed completely disinterested in you, or maybe it was because he was everything you were always told to stay away from.
The one thing you did know, however, was that if everyone around you was going to keep trying to convince you they knew how you should live your life better than you did, you were going to prove to them just how they wrong they were one way or another.

that cashier game brought me on an idea... what about a grumpy yoongi as cashier and very clumsy y/n who likes him
i know this month is already a yoongi drabble month but i.,,.,. truly cannot resist writing about grumby yoobi :DDD
Tumblr media
➺ pairing; cashier!yoongi x y/n
➺ genre; yoongi is cocky and y/n is nervous what’s new
➺ wordcount; 1045
(unfortunately i wasn’t able to track down the original maker of this gif but this is where i sourced it from! all credits go to the original creator of course :-))
                                       »»————- 🛒 ————-««
“well, well, well…” yoongi sighs, getting up from his creaky stool before slipping his phone into his back pocket, “look who it is.”
“yoongi!” you greet enthusiastically as if you’re surprised to see that it’s him standing behind the counter when you were the one who purposely lined up at his checkout station, “fancy seeing you here!”
“…fancy seeing me at my workplace?” he raises a brow, reaching over to tap his finger against the computer screen to wake it up, “if anything, i should be surprised to see you here.”
“what, like it’s weird for me to be buying food at a grocery store?” you snort as you begin to pile your things up onto the counter, “sorry i need to eat to survive-”
“no, that’s not the weird part — the weird part is that you bought, like, three bags worth of things yesterday and you’re already back for more.” yoongi points out with a shrug, leaning over to take a peek at the contents of your cart, “that’s all.”
“well, i just-” you pause at the realisation that, yes, your fridge is currently packed to the brim and you probably don’t have to go food-shopping for at least a month so it doesn’t make sense as to why you’re rolling up today with a cart full of food, “i… like to eat. is that such a crime?”
“touché.” yoongi hums, pausing to stick his hand out towards you
you frown lightly as you stare down at his open palm, your eyes flickering to the side for a second before you raise your own arm and gently place your hand in his
oh
his hand is so soft… and so warm…
a second of silence ticks by before yoongi clears his throat and speaks up again: “this is nice, but i actually just need your rewards card.”
“oh!” you immediately pull your hand away, your cheeks flushing as you hurry to pull your backpack off your shoulder, “i knew that! i knew that, i was just- i was just playing with you, that’s all-” you chuckle nervously, fumbling through your wallet with buttery fingers before pulling the blue card out and plopping it onto yoongi’s palm, “here you go.”
“mhm.” yoongi slides it over the scanner with a beep! before handing it back to you, “hey, check out all those points! someone’s a shopaholic.”
“yeah, well-” you smile sheepishly, reaching up to scratch the back of your neck, “food is good, so-”
“you bought one of these yesterday, didn’t you?” yoongi interrupts, dragging a family-sized box of cheerios over the scanner, “boy, you and your family must really like breakfast-”
“i live alone.” you blurt out, pressing your lips together immediately upon realising that it probably would’ve made you look better if you’d just played along with what yoongi was saying instead of now being reduced to a cereal-gobbling monster, “i… live alone.”
“ah.” yoongi nods in understanding, “so it’s just you who’s a big fan of breakfast-”
“it’s the most important meal of the day, after all-”
“mhm, give me a second-” yoongi turns to pull the microphone towards him before pushing the red button and leaning in, “yeah, could i get a price check on the magnum XL extra ribbed-for-her-pleasure condoms? just to be clear, that’s the magnum XL extra ribbed-for-her-pleasure condoms, item number 3-2-6-9-0-”
“no!” you gasp, reaching over to snatch the condoms out of yoongi’s hand before quickly tossing it back into the cart, “that- ha, i must’ve thrown those in there by accident, i don’t need those- i mean, not that i don’t need those, because safety is always a priority, but i just don’t need them because i’m not currently in a- in a position where i need them- like, i totally could be, don’t get me wrong, but i’m just choosing not to be-”
“never mind on the condoms.” yoongi clicks the button again before turning the microphone away from him and continuing to scan through your items with a smirk
look
it’s obvious that you like him — every time you come in here there are basically little pink hearts floating around your head
and it’s not that yoongi isn’t flattered (because he totally is) and that’s why he hasn’t called you out on it yet, he just likes the fact that it’s almost like he’s got you under a sick little spell
…what?? it’s not like he’s a bad person or anything, right? he’s just teasing!!
at first he thought you just really liked collecting points and that’s why you came so often, but then he started to notice that every time you were here, you’d only ever line up at his station even when the other ones had shorter lines
as a matter of fact there was one time that one of his coworkers was literally gesturing for you to come over to them and you stepped aside and let the person behind you go before happily skipping over to his station
even after that he thought that maybe he was being a little too cocky and assumed that you just preferred to have him check you out (ha) because he is a fantastic bagger, after all
but there was that one afternoon where you came in and he saw you grab ten packs of gummy worms before hurrying over to his station to check out and that was just... odd?
it just seemed like you were willing to buy anything just to talk to him — so, yeah, it’s fairly obvious now that you like him
(and he must admit… you are definitely his type.)
“and… there’s your receipt.” yoongi hands you the flimsy sheet of paper with your card tucked underneath it, “you sure you don’t need those condoms? last chance.” he teases, smiling lightly when he notices your ears turning bright red
“yeah, i’m sure-” you cough, tucking your wallet back into your backpack before zipping it up, “i don’t know why you had to announce it to the entire store-”
“hey, i needed a price check! the box you grabbed had a scratchy bar code on it.” yoongi shrugs, pulling his phone out before plopping back down on his stool, “oh, y/n?”
“yeah?”
“see you tomorrow, you cereal killer.”

Stalker - Terry McGinnis x Reader
Tumblr media
Trigger Warning - Stalker Behavior, Darker Themes
Requested by Anon - Can I request one where Terry finds out his s/o has a stalker?
***
You shivered, standing outside of school. It was a cool spring day. You wished you had worn your jacket, but the sun shining through your bedroom window this morning made you too optimistic about the weather.
“Come on, Ter. Where are you?” you whispered, jumping up and down to warm up a little. The school bell rang. You sighed. “Late again.” You turned around to enter when a warm jacket suddenly wrapped around your shoulders.
“I’m not late. Just almost late.” Terry chuckled in your ear. He kissed your cheek before moving ahead to open the door for you.
“For once.” You winked at him, sliding your arms into his jacket. “Come on, we’re going to be late for Literature.”
Terry groaned, running a hand through his hair. “What’s the reading we had to do for today?”
“The Yellow Wallpaper.” You sneaked a sniff of his jacket, enjoying his scent. Terry rubbed his eyes and missed it. “I’ll catch you up. We’re just supposed to be in discussion groups.” The two of you strolled down the hall, tempting fate as the final bell was about to ring.
“Lucky I have you, babe. I think I’d have to drop out by now if I didn’t.” Terry wrapped his arm around your shoulders. You leaned into him, still snug in his jacket.
“I doubt that. You’d just actually have to do your homework.” You caught his lips in a quick kiss before you both entered the classroom just as the bell rang.
***
You walked alone to the elementary school to pick up your younger siblings and Terry’s little brother, Matt. Terry’s mom and your parents paid you the big creds to babysit them every day after school. It was actually how you met Terry in the first place.
Terry would usually try to walk with you until you met up with the kids, but today Mr. Wayne needed him earlier than normal. You pulled his jacket closer, only realizing now that you still had it. Oops. You shrugged, smiling to yourself when you got a whiff of Terry from the jacket.
As you neared the elementary school, a shiver ran up your spine when you heard footsteps behind you. “Excuse me,” someone said from behind you. You turned, holding your bag tighter.
It was an older man, maybe mid-forties. He ran up to you. His hair was oily and his face was breaking out in hives. “Can I help you?” you asked. Something felt off about him. You took an involuntary step back when he stopped before you.
“You dropped this.” He held out keychain with a batman symbol on it.
“Oh thank you.” You gasped, holding out your hand. He dropped it into your palm after a pause. “I can’t believe I lost it. It must have broke.”
He nodded, smiling as he stared at you. “You’re welcome.”
You waited for him to leave, but he didn’t move. Just staring. Your stomach twisted, nerves on end. “Well, I better get going. Thanks again.” You turned and hurried away with your hand clenched around the keychain. Terry had given it to you. You usually had it on your bag. Once you turned the corner and were in front of the elementary school with a crowd of people, you opened your hand to check the keychain.
Your blood ran cold when you saw it wasn’t broken. How would it have fallen off if it didn’t break? You checked your bag, heart pounding when you saw your keychain was still attached.  Your thumb ran across the one in your hand, noting it didn’t have the scratches yours had.
“Creepy.” You glanced over your shoulder, relieved that the man wasn’t in sight. Maybe it was a mistake? Maybe it wasn’t as creepy as you were thinking? You swallowed hard and tossed the keychain into the nearby garbage can.
Matt and your siblings ran up to you, chattering away. You gathered them up and led them toward home. However, the entire way, you felt you were being watched.
***
“What’s wrong?” Terry frowned at you, noting how you clung to his arm as the two of you slowly stepped onto the tram.
“Nothing’s wrong.” You let go of his arm, crossing your arms tightly. Terry led you over to a seat.
Terry sighed. He rolled his eyes. “You been like this all week. (Y/N), what’s wrong?” He sat down beside you. You scooted closer to him.
You glanced around nervously. “I’m fine, Ter. I just want to get home.”
“Okay.” Terry frowned and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. “I just thought you wanted to spend time with me.”
“I do.” You smiled at him. It wasn’t a real smile. Terry kissed your temple. “I’m not feeling all that great today. We can hang out at my house. My siblings are at my grandparents this weekend anyway.”
“That would be great.” Terry felt you relax, closing your eyes as you laid your head against his shoulder. He pushed his worries aside. You probably weren’t feeling well like you said. It was probably nothing. He relaxed himself, keeping you close just in case.
***
You stared at the keychain lying on your doorstep. Your blood ran cold with terror. It was the same batman keychain, brand new, matching the one on your bag. Your siblings were a few feet behind you as you had rushed ahead to quickly get into your house where you were safe. Clearly, it wasn’t safe anymore.
“Wow, a batman keychain,” Matt said, moving around you to pick it up.
“Hey (Y/N), it matches yours,” your sibling said, giggling.
“Terry must have left it.” Matt made a face. “Gross.”
“Yeah, he must have.” You painted a fake smile on your face and took the keychain from Matt. “Come on, let’s get inside. I’ll let you have whatever you want for a snack.”
The kids cheered and rushed inside once you unlocked the door. You hurried after and slammed the door shut, clicking the lock. The feeling of uneasiness didn’t leave you.
***
“Terrance!” Bruce’s voice echoed through Terry’s ears. He jerked the batmobile into a climb to avoid crashing straight into a building.
“Okay, okay. We’re fine.” Terry chuckled nervously, shaking his head.
“If you crash it, you buy it.” Bruce growled. “Pay attention!”
Terry cleared his throat, turning to fly the batmobile for another lap of the city. He flew over your house and scanned the place. Everything was fine. However, the light in your room was still on. Terry glanced at the clock. It was two in the morning. “Bruce, I’m going to make a quick stop.”
“This is no time for social calls.” Bruce’s voice sharpened.
“How about you keep an ear on the police scanner like you always do and let me know if I need to go anywhere?” Terry smirked when Bruce huffed and clicked off. “Got ya.” He flew out of the batmobile and glided toward your house. Terry balanced himself on the sill of your window.
You were in bed with the covers pulled over your head. Terry opened your window silently and stepped inside. “(Y/N).” You sat up suddenly and screamed at the sight of him. Terry’s eyes widened. He pulled off his mask. “Honey, it’s me. Hush.”
You slapped a hand over your mouth, gasping for breath. The blood drained out of your face. Terry swore, shutting the window behind him and ducking into the closet as your family tore into the room.
It took several long minutes for your family to leave. Terry waited, hoping Bruce didn’t catch how badly he scared you. He leaned against the wall of your closet. His mask twisted in his fist.
The closet door opened a few minutes after the room went quiet. “I’m sorry.” You hugged him, burying your face into his chest. “You scared me.”
“I’m sorry I scared you.” Terry kissed the top of your head. “I saw your light was on, so I’d thought I would stop by.”
You jerked away from him, blood draining out of your face. “No, no, no,” you whispered, running to the window and quickly shutting the curtains.
Terry rushed to your side. “Babe, what’s wrong?” He laid a hand on your shoulder. “Why are you so scared?”
You looked at him, tears filling your eyes. Terry felt like he got punched in the gut. “I don’t want to talk about it. Please just hold me.” You hugged him so tight, he thought he might bruise.
“Okay, okay.” Terry hugged you back. He gently rocked you, still confused and concerned. Part of him wanted to demand you to explain, but seeing how upset you were, he couldn’t do it. So he let it go and held you until you fell asleep.
Terry gently tucked you into bed and turned off your light. He pressed a kiss to your forehead before slipping out the window, making sure to shut it securely behind him. “Bruce, you there?”
“Are you ready to get back to work?” Bruce’s tone edged toward scolding. Terry rolled his eyes.
“I am.” He wanted to talk about your strange behavior, but he stopped himself. Bruce doesn’t know anything about relationships anyway. He’d be no help. Terry rocketed into the sky to catch the batmobile as it went by on autopilot.
***
“Terry!” Max ran through the hall, bumping people out of the way to reach him. Terry turned to look at her, alarmed. “Come quick!”
“Where?” Terry grunted when Max grabbed his sore arm and tugged him down the hall. Max was leading him toward the school’s office. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s (Y/N). We were outside for gym class and they collapsed.” Max panted. It was only at that moment that Terry realized Max was in her gym clothes. Bruce was right, his detective skills really did need work.
His blood ran cold. “Collapsed? Are they okay?!” Max led him into the nurse’s office. Terry ran ahead and opened a curtain to find you shaking, gasping for breath as you curled up into a ball on the bed. The school nurse seemed lost. “(Y/N), sweetheart, I’m here.” Terry sank down beside the bed, wrapping his arms around you.
You looked at him, pupils dilated, eyes wide. “I...I...can...can’t breathe.” Tears ran down your cheeks.
“(Y/N), you need to calm down. Breathe with me.” He took a slow deep breath, looking you in the eye as he rubbed your back. You struggled at first, but eventually you slowed your breathing down with his. Terry could feel your heart calming down.
The school nurse said something about getting you some water and a snack, leaving you, Terry, and Max alone. “I’m sorry,” you said, leaning over to bury your face into Terry’s shoulder.
Terry shared a look with Max. “Okay, (Y/N). Something is clearly wrong. You got to tell us and don’t say it’s nothing,” Max began, sitting on foot of the bed. You pulled away from Terry, sniffling and grabbing a tissue from the box nearby. Terry took your hand, squeezing it gently.
“Okay, alright.” You closed your eyes and took a shaky breath. “I think I have a stalker.”
Terry’s stomach dropped as ice cold horror washed over him. “What?!” You flinched at his tone. Max glared at him, poking him.
“Calm down, Ter. Let (Y/N) explain.” Max turned back to you. “Why do you think you have a stalker?”
The nurse came back with water and a packet of crackers. She smiled when she saw you were calm. “Eat and drink, we’ll see how you feel. Terry and Max, you can stay with (Y/N). I’ll let your teachers know.” You took a sip of water once the nurse left again.
“Slag it. (Y/N), tell us what happened.” Terry’s hands shook. You looked at him, taking a deep breath.
“Okay. It started a month ago...”
“A month? This has been going on for a month?!” Terry got to his feet. The terror going straight to his head.
“Terry, sit down and shut up.” Max punched his arm. Terry flinched before forcing himself to sit on the edge of the bed.
You blinked back tears. “I...It started when I was walking to the elementary school to pick up the kids. You weren’t with me, Ter. Mr. Wayne needed you that day. I felt like someone was watching me and then someone ran up behind me. It was an older man. He handed me a batman keychain like the one you gave me, Ter, and I thought it was mine. I thanked him, but he just stared at me.” You shivered. Terry wrapped his arm around you, his heart threatening to burst out of his chest. “It creeped me out, so I left. It was then I realized that the keychain wasn’t mine. It was brand new and my keychain was still on my bag.”
Max and Terry tensed. “That is creepy,” Max whispered, reaching out to pat your hand.
“I threw it away, but I felt like I’ve been watched ever since.” You swallowed hard. Rogue tears slipped down your cheeks. Terry wiped them away with his thumb. “More keychains keep popping up wherever I go. There was even one on my front doorstep. I’m so scared all the time. That’s why I screamed when you visited me last night, Ter. I thought someone was breaking in to get me.” Your entire body trembled. “Even during gym class, there was one in my spot on the bench. That’s why I freaked out.”
“Why did you not tell me?” Terry soothed, pushing down his anger and terror. It wouldn’t help you.
“I didn’t want you to worry. Besides, I was hoping it was nothing, but it’s not. It can’t be.” You burst into tears again. Terry pulled you into his chest, sharing another look with Max.
“I’ll go see if I can find the keychain outside,” Max whispered to Terry. She slipped out of the room.
Terry sighed. “You’ll be fine, (Y/N). I’ll protect you. Whoever this is, they won’t get you.”
You grabbed at his jacket tightly. “Okay.” You sniffled. “Do you think they’ll let me go home? I just want to be home now, Ter.”
“I’ll go ask if I can take you home.” He pulled away from you. “Just relax.” You settled down on the bed, drinking the water the nurse brought you.
Terry clenched his hands into fists. His heart burned at the thought you were in danger and he didn’t even notice. Something bad could have happened because he didn’t get the answer to your strange behavior before. He swallowed hard, going to the school nurse to talk about being able to take you home. Hopefully, Max will find that keychain for him before he left. It was time for him to use his detective skills. You needed him to.
***
“What are you doing?” Bruce asked, walking over to Terry as Terry stared at the batcomputer. Terry was running scans on the keychain Max had recovered from the school. He hated to leave you, but Max was with you, helping you watch your siblings and Matt while also keeping you safe.
“(Y/N) has a stalker.” Terry slammed his fist against the computer when the keychain came up with nothing. “Slag it!”
Bruce raised an eyebrow. Ace barked at him in warning. Terry forced himself to relax, rubbing his chin to think. “What do we know?” Bruce’s tone became more serious. Terry looked up to find Bruce studying the results.
“This is a dead end. The guy didn’t leave anything on the keychain and (Y/N) didn’t keep the others.” Terry sighed. He ran a hand over his face. “There’s got to be a way to catch this dreg before he does something to (Y/N). (Y/N)’s already scared out of their mind.”
Bruce huffed. “You need to think less directly, McGinnis.” He gestured for Terry to get out of the chair. Terry stood up, sighing as Bruce took the seat and started working on the batcomputer. “Do you know where these keychains are sold?”
“I bought (Y/N)’s at the mall. There was a kiosk selling all these retro keychains.” Terry blinked. “Do you think we could hack into the mall’s security footage and see who was buying them?”
Bruce’s mouth twitched into almost a smirk. “Yes.”
“(Y/N) gave me this.” Terry pressed a button to bring up your description of the man you first encountered. “This is the man who gave them the keychain the first time.”
“Interesting.” Bruce hacked into the security and brought up footage of the kiosk. “What day did (Y/N) have the first encounter?”
Terry rubbed his chin. “About a month ago.” He shook his head. “I’m such a dreg for not noticing sooner. They are so scared.”
“Focus, Terrence.” Bruce frowned as the security footage fast forwarded until it stopped when it caught a person buying several batman keychains all at once. “It looks like we found our person.”
“Wait.” Terry leaned forward to study the person. “Oh my god, I know them. They go to our school, but (Y/N) was approached by an old man with the first keychain?”
Bruce hummed. “They probably paid the man to deliver it.” The computer popped up with the person’s school record. “Their name is Tay Diabolos. Seems like they have a shaky school attendance record and their grades are worse than yours.”
“Geez, thanks.” Terry frowned. “But (Y/N) hasn’t had any interaction with them as far as I know. They would have told me if they were being weird.”
“Sometimes that doesn’t matter.” Bruce brought up Tay’s address. “Go to their home, see what you can find. Don’t engage them. We’ll need to do this carefully.” Bruce glared at Terry. Terry just blushed. “I will run more tests on this keychain. My gut is telling me there is something we’re missing.”
“Mine too.” Terry patted Ace’s head before running off to get on his suit. Bruce watched him go. Ace barked, butting his head against Bruce’s leg.
“I know. He’s probably going to make a mess of it.” Bruce scratched Ace’s ear and turned to examine the keychain in ways Terry didn’t even think of.
***
Terry turned on his optical camouflage as he neared the run-down part of Neo-Gotham. He swallowed hard, pushing aside his fear for you. Max already called him to reassure him you were fine, but his stomach was twisted in knots.
He landed on the roof of an old house that must have been built around the time Bruce was young. A smirk pulled at Terry’s lips as he thought that it was probably over a hundred years old.
“Are you at the address yet?” Bruce’s voice suddenly filled his ear. Terry jumped, thankful Bruce wasn’t able to read minds.
“Just arrived.” Terry climbed down and opened the second story window. “I got nothing on my heat scans, so no one is home.”
Bruce grunted. “I told you not to rely on that too much. There are ways to cheat the scan.”
“It’s fine.” Terry looked around the empty room he entered. He went over the door and opened it. The hallway was dirty, covered in beer cans and stains. “Looks like a party house of some sort.”
“I found a micro tracer on the keychain. It’s cheap, only a range of two miles if even.” Bruce hummed. “He was attempting to track (Y/N). Are you sure (Y/N) never kept the keychains?”
“Yeah, they threw them away because it freaked them out. The only one still around is the one we have.” Terry’s eyes widened. “Wait, did you deactivate the tracer?”
Bruce snorted. “Of course.” Terry moved deeper into the house, following the light that peeked under one of the doors. “Remember do not engage, McGinnis. This is recon only.”
Terry didn’t respond as he peeked into the room. His heart spasmed in terror when his eyes fell onto a wall covered in pictures of you. A few were your school photos, but most were taken without your knowledge. Terry touched one that was you walking home with your siblings. “Are you seeing this?”
“This has been going on longer than we thought.” Bruce sighed deeply.
“Oh no, no, no.” Terry’s blood ran cold when he saw strands of your hair pinned to the wall. “The dreg has (Y/N)’s hair.” His hand clenched into a fist, rage pounded into his chest.
“Terrance, calm down. Remember this is recon.” Bruce’s voice was so calm. Terry wanted to snap back at him, but snapping at Bruce never did any good. “Is there any sign of plans?”
Terry shook his head, clearing the red rage from his vision. He let out a slow breath. “No, this looks more like a shrine to (Y/N).” Terry knelt down to access the computer on the floor next to the shrine. One tap, and he gave Bruce remote access.
“It looks like they ordered flowers for (Y/N) tomorrow.” Bruce’s rapid typing filled Terry’s ears. Terry felt sick to his stomach.
“That’s it. I got to go be with (Y/N). This freak is going to do something.” Terry got to his feet. He froze when he heard a door open downstairs. “Slag it. Someone’s home now.”
“Get out of there. I’ll search the computer some more.” Bruce clicked off. Terry shivered, eyeing the shrine of you one more time before slipping out of the window and rocketing into the sky.
***
“Terry, are you sure? Doesn’t Mr. Wayne need you today?” You asked, wrapping a blanket around yourself as you curled up on your couch in your living room. The window curtains were all tightly closed.
“No, he doesn’t, and my mom called the school to get me off today too.” Terry sat down next to you, pulling you into his arms. “I’m here to stay.”
You had stayed home from school once you explained to your parents what was happening. They called the police, but of course, they couldn’t do anything since Tay hadn’t actually done anything. Terry could see the trembling of your hands, how the color drained from your face. This was making you sick.
“Thanks Ter.” You relaxed into him. “I hate this. Why did this person have to do this to me?”
“They’re sick.” Terry bit his lips. “(Y/N), do you know someone named Tay Diabolos?”
You blinked. “Yeah, they go to our school. I had science with them before they got kicked out for mixing cleaners and almost killing the class with the fumes.” You looked up at Terry curiously. “Don’t you remember? I had to go to the hospital with Blade and Zip. We got the worst of it.”
Terry’s eyes widened. “Wait, isn’t that when I got you the keychain? I picked you up from the hospital and took you to the mall where we got it from...that’s it!” Terry got to his feet suddenly. Your eyes widened at the sight.
“What’s it?” You bit your lip.
“The connection. I was trying to think why. I couldn’t remember why Tay would start doing this.” Terry sank down to kneel on the floor beside you. “That must have been the event to start their obsession.”
“Obsession?” Terry could see the terror wash over you. Right, he didn’t tell you about the shrine he found.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” Terry took your hand. “I’ll handle it, okay?”
“Okay.” You gave Terry a weak smile as you squeezed his hand. “Just be careful.”
“Always.” Terry leaned forward to kiss your lips sweetly. For the first time in a long time, you seem relieved.
***
“I think I should fly down there and scare them away from (Y/N),” Terry said as he paced the cave. Bruce and Ace sat by the batcomputer, watching him.
“Ter, you know that will cause more problems. How does Batman know Tay is stalking a classmate? Why is Batman involving himself in a stalker case?,” Max said, eyeing the huge cave around her. It took a long time, but Bruce finally let her into the cave. She wandered over to look at the old costumes display. Bruce eyed her with slight disapproval.
“True.” Bruce stuck his cane out and tapped Terry’s leg.
Terry stopped pacing, crossing his arms. “I was thinking I would confront him as myself.”
“No. That will just make things worse.” Max snapped and turned to look at Terry with wide eyes. “Clearly, Tay was triggered by seeing you with (Y/N). That’s the reason for the keychains. They must have seen you buy one for (Y/N).”
“Then what am I supposed to do?! This is killing (Y/N)! I’m sick and tired of seeing them scared out of their mind!” Terry threw his hands up in the air. Ace barked at him, nervous from his outburst.
“Calm down, McGinnis,” Bruce said sternly, turning around in his chair to study the computer. “We need to go through normal channels. I’ve spoke to Barbara Gordon, she says she can help (Y/N) get a restraining order, but we need evidence first.”
“Aren’t the keychains enough?” Max asked, coming to Bruce’s side to watch the security footage of your house. They had installed it just in case.
Bruce shook his head. “No, (Y/N) threw most of them away. Besides, there is no evidence that Tay gave them the keychains. They covered their tracks well.”
A groan came from Terry as he pulled at his hair. His phone beeped. He picked up the phone once he saw it was you. The sound of your tears met his ear, his blood turned to ice water.
“Terry, there’s a message on our machine,” you whispered. Your voice breaking with a sob. “It’s from Tay. He said he left a present for me outside...”
“It’s okay. Just have everyone stay inside.” Terry ran over to the batcomputer, having to focus to keep his voice calm and even. Max and Bruce watched in concern when Terry had the batcomputer zoom in on the footage of your front step to show another batman keychain lying there.
“Oh my god.” Max gasped. “But we were watching the whole time.”
Bruce hummed, a scowl on his face. He reached over to pet Ace, who was getting jumpy from the energy of the room. “Terry, I can’t live like this anymore,” you said.
“Hush. I’ll take care of it. I swear.” Terry’s heart was ready to pound out of his chest. He wanted to fly over to Tay’s house and beat the life out of him. “Just stay inside. Leave the keychain where it’s at. I’ll be there soon.”
“Okay.” You hung up the phone, but not before Terry heard a full out sob burst out of you.
“I think I have an idea.” Bruce got to his feet and walked over to the workbench to get his pill bottle. Terry stared at his phone, lost in his own tortured imagination. “We need to get Tay off the streets, and the best way to do that is to catch them for another crime.”
“Another crime?” Max put her hands on her hips. “But isn’t harassing (Y/N) enough?”
Bruce grunted. “No. Harassment is messy. It rarely sticks unless you have hard evidence which we don’t have.” Bruce leaned on his cane as he picked up his pills and swallowed them dry.
Terry stuck his phone back in his pocket. “You have a plan I assume?” He ran over to the changing area to switch into his suit.
“I do. From what I seen in the vid from your search of Tay’s home, I saw evidence of slappers.” Bruce walked back to the batcomputer and sat down.
“Oh, so we get Tay for drug possession, which should get them away from (Y/N).” Max grinned. “Sway idea, Mr. Wayne.”
“Yeah, sway.” Terry ran out of the changing area in full Batman mode. He hopped into the batmobile. “Keep me updated on what I need to do, but I have to check on (Y/N) first.”  The batmobile zoomed off.
***
After Terry made sure your house was secure and you were calmed down, he followed Bruce’s lead to Tay’s house once again. “What’s your plan?”
“Find evidence of slappers in Tay’s house, make probable cause for the police to enter,” Bruce said firmly. “If we can get Tay on drug possession charges, they can get off the streets and get the help they need.”
“And (Y/N) will finally feel safe again.” Terry rocketed out of the batmobile and landed on the roof of the house next door. “There’s a party going on.” Tay’s house was raging, filling with people drinking, laughing, dancing. Loud music boomed out of the opened windows.
“This might be to our advantage. The noise alone will be probable cause.” Bruce hummed. “But we need to make sure the police find the slapper evidence and connect it to Tay.”
Terry grunted, turning on his optical camouflage and glided toward the house. He slipped through the open window, avoid the people in the room as he slipped through the open door to the hallway. It took him a full minute to get into the room where the shrine was since a couple was making out against it. They finally moved and Terry slipped inside.
Tay was in the room, luckily facing away from the door and didn’t see it seemly open on it’s own. It took every ounce of will for Terry not to rip into them when he saw them adding another photo to the shrine. He paled when it was a photo of your bedroom window, showing you hugging Terry with Terry still clearly in his batsuit.
“Damn,” Terry whispered under his breath. Suddenly, a smirk pulled at his lips. He turned off his camouflage.
“Terry, what are you doing?” Bruce asked sharply.
“Tay Diabolos.” A wave of satisfaction washed over Terry when Tay jerked, turning around in surprise. “I need to have a word with you.”
Tay laughed. “You think I’m scared, Terry McGinnis.” Tay pulled out a gun, aiming it at Terry’s chest. “You aren’t good enough for (Y/N).”
“You think I’m Terry McGinnis?” Terry laughed darkly. “You aren’t very smart, but then again, you wouldn’t be if you can’t notice what you’re doing to (Y/N) is criminal.”
“Don’t mock me!” Tay fired the gun. Terry easily dodged by stepping aside.
“Careful of the civilians around you, Terry. I’ll make an anonymous call to the police,” Bruce said. The slight approval in Bruce’s voice made Terry’s heart soar.
Terry shot out a batarang and knocked the gun from Tay’s hand. “Leave (Y/N) alone.” He marched forward, picking Tay up by the front of their shirt. “If I ever see you even look at them again, I’ll pound you into the pavement. The police would have to take a DNA test to identify your body.”
“You won’t stop me.” Tay spit in Terry’s face. Terry held back a flinch. “I’ll be with (Y/N). I love them more than you ever could, McGinnis.”
Terry grunted and dropped Tay only to throw a quick jab at their jaw. Tay dropped like a pile of bricks.
“Well, you certainly made a mess now.” Bruce’s voice filled Terry’s ears.
“We’ll figure it out. The suit can still be on autopilot mode, right?” Terry took the photo of himself and you and slipped it into his pocket.
Bruce hummed. “Yes, but you’ll need to move fast. The police are incoming.”
Terry grunted, climbing out the window of the room and flying through the air toward your house.
***
“I’m telling you the truth! Terry McGinnis is Batman!” Tay shouted, fighting against the restraints as the cops tried to put him into the car. Barbara put her hands in her pockets and glanced back at Batman who stood a few feet away.
“Right.” Another car pulled up and Terry exited. Barbara smiled. “And how is it he can be in two places at once?”
The blood drained out of Tay’s face as they looked between Terry and Batman. “It’s a trick! He planned this! I’ll get (Y/N) away from you! I swear it!”
“Enough.” The cops pushed Tay into the car and slammed the door to lock him inside.
Barbara patted Terry’s shoulder as Batman suddenly rocketed off into the sky into the waiting batmobile. “Tay won’t be bothering (Y/N) anytime soon. We have enough evidence to keep him in juvie for quite some time.”
“And the evidence for the restraining order?” Terry asked, biting his lip to keep from smirking in delight. The cops drove Tay away. Their shouts could still be heard through the vehicle.
“Being processed. We’ll hand it over to (Y/N)’s lawyer in the morning.” Barbara sighed. “I’ll let you deliver the news to (Y/N).”
“Thanks.” Terry hopped back into the car and drove back to your place.
“So it worked?” Bruce asked through the comlink in Terry’s ear. “And slow down, that’s my car you’re driving.”
Terry laughed. “It worked. Tay looked crazy.” He bit his lip, slowing down a bit. “Did the suit get back to the cave alright?”
“Yes, it just arrived with the batmobile. I’ll shut down autopilot mode.” Bruce hummed. “I assume you’re going to (Y/N)’s.”
“Of course.” Terry’s foot hit the gas again. “I’ll check in tomorrow.”
Bruce grunted. “Right.” He hung up bluntly as he always did. Terry shook his head, unable to keep the grin off his face.
***
You shivered, pulling your jacket tighter around you. Taking a step outside your front door, you sighed in relief when you weren’t frozen from anxiety.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Terry said, running up the steps to you. You laughed and jumped into his arms.
“Hey yourself.” Terry spun you around. You screamed when he almost toppled down the stairs. “Are you ready for the club?”
“I am.” Your face hurt from how much you were smiling. “I want to dance the night away.”
Terry ran down the stairs with you still in his arms. “Sway, because I’m ready to dance with you all night too.”
“Put me down.” You patted his shoulders. Terry set you down, keeping his arm around your waist. You kissed his cheek as you both started down the street. “And thank you.”
“For what?” Terry smirked at you. His hand squeezed your hip.
You looked into his eyes. “Oh, you know.” The words didn’t dare leave your lips, keeping the fear at bay.
Terry smiled before kissing you passionately on the lips. You melted into him, content and safe in his arms.

“I just got access to these files, aren't you a least bit curious?” Dick could tell Danny was debating on running off anyways or not. He had worked with enough teens to notice the signs, even knew what he use to do. Danny had his arms crossed and was antsy by the way his leg bounced in place. “Not really. I assume it has something to do with the mini me in the tube over there, and I'm not okay with me or a version of me being treated as a science experiment.” Dick couldn't blame him on that one, “Fair, I'll leave out the experimenting bits then.” “No, you'll tell me everything. So I know if he's going to turn into goo or not.” Danny huffed, leaning against the machine, letting Dick be the one to read it. While he dealt with his urge to run.
Dick just gave a nod with a half-smile, deciding that'll probably be the best he will get out of Danny. His eyes scanning over the documents, speed reading through its contents. Dick's brows furrowed and he frowned deeply, leaning back for a moment to glance at the capsule that contained the younger Danny. Danny furrowed his brows, concerned, glancing from the screen to Nightwing. “What? What is it?” Trying to hide the worry in his voice. “.......It-he.. is dead.” “OW SHIT-fuck!” Jason cursed as he shocked himself before slamming the hand scanner back in place. He sucked on his finger for a moment, turning to face them. “What do you mean dead? Ghost or-” “No, Vlad made it clear he was trying to recreate Danie-Danny. Sorry, reading. Danny's body before the accident.” “So why is he in a container full of ectoplasm?” “Last attempt, but no matter what stage of life, the clone was either unstable or dead.” “If the ectoplasm is like the pit, then why didn't the clone come back to life.” “Because he was never alive to begin with... No consciousness to cling to.. Am I just dead?” Danny was looking at his hands horrified. Dick and Jason quickly shared a look. “Dann-” “No seriously?! Am I just a corpse with an attached ghost?!” “This isn't the time for existential crisis Danny.” “Did you miss the memo about that being my existence?” “That's not how genetics work. Its probably a fault of the cloning process and not you specifically. You have 3 different DNA, right?” Dick didn't know the truth, but Jason was right, existential crisis had to wait. Danny blinked, calming down, “............yeah. Yeah, I do... makes sense.. if its because of that... Sorry. About that.. heh” Danny rubbed the back of his neck embarrassed, feeling dumb. Jason shaking his head, “Don't be, 'this' is fucked up.” Jason gesturing to the lab as it was normal to freak out. “He cloned animals, and tried to create half-dead ones to test on. Even cloned himself, but same result. At least at making one human. Probably to try and understand what went wrong. ” Dick changing topic. “...So that's why the blob was like my clones...” Danny leaned back against the machine. “Man, I wished he succeeded in a clone of himself.. maybe he'd leave me alone.. ugh.” Danny was quick to regain composure, or was he just too use to pushing his emotions down that it was a default? Dick wasn't sure which it was, or that it was a good thing. But for now, he took it as a blessing. To be honest, he was half-expecting Danny to be like Jason. Was it the manner they died.. or half-died? “Anything else blue bird? Because I got this room opened.” Jason tapping his boot at the wall, making it open. “Access Granted, my love of my life, snookie, wookie, darling husband.” Madeline's voice chimed from the hand scanner, but was distorted from Jason's tinkering. All three boys collectively cringed at the voice. “...Would it make it worse if I said that was my mom's voice.. because it is.” It made it worse.
-----owo----
Damian lead the way, while Jazz followed with the Fenton Ghost Finder in hand, through the halls. Vlad had disarmed her, so it felt better use for her to keep track of the ghosts. So far they haven't picked up anything, not even a duplicate. The silence was deafening. “None of the cameras are shot out,” Jazz whispered, pointing towards the ceiling. Damian gave a nod, as they pressed to the shadows of the hall. There wasn't any signs they came this way. “What floor are you and Orphan on?” “We're thinking the 8th ?” Damian frowned, glancing back at Jazz, who just gave a shrug as she scooted closer to try to hear the comm. Damain waiting for a moment to hear any sounds that might echo in the hall. “I think you're wrong.”
“Sorry, I can't read ghost like Danny.-” “I could change that.” Damian smirked. “Har, har. I would come back just to phase all of your swords into the deepest block of concrete and-” “Ahem.” Batman interrupted. “....Anyway, I lost track what floor we were on after the whole intruder thing.” “You were on the 5th.” Jazz leaned closer Damian's comm to speak, without raising her voice. Damian scowled a little at her being so close. “... That means..” A muttered of recounting as a doublecheck, “..we're on the 9th.” Damian snorted at Tim's blunder. He frowned again as Jazz made herself known on his comm, keeping her voice low. “We'll finish the 8th, meet us on the 7th. I don't see any signs of my parents being lead up here. Look for busted security cameras and scorch marks. Plasmius could have knocked them out and dragged them up, but I doubt it. They'll be in a large room with vultures guarding it.” “Got it, thanks. See you there.” Jazz automatically giving a polite, “You're welcome.” Damian giving her a raised brow. She in turn just shrugged, “Habits.” Damian rolled his eyes up and then gestured her to follow. ->u<-
Batman wondered how well Jazz would do at a gala. It be nice to have one kid that- not his kid... Still though- He brushed that momentary thought aside, as he drummed his fingers on the arm of his chair. Being benched was maddening, especially in facing unknowns like this. He was listening to them all, while Oracle was researching more about Masters and the situations in the other cities. Bruce was waiting for the pin to drop. Masters knew they were there. Each kid was with at least one other person, which put a little relief off his chest. Jazz and Danny didn't have comms, though. He wished he specified to bring extra. He was reviewing the things he was hearing and had heard, over again in his head. Clones. Half-ghost experiments. He wondered if Vlad was trying to make a Danny from the source. But that didn't explain the battery. Was he not the cause of that? The dates aligned too well for it to be a coincidence. No, there had to be more. Had to be a reason too. One he couldn't see. Batman stood up with a grunt, he couldn't sit any longer. He'll start on some repairs to the plane, the ghost shield was still active. It'll give him a way to reach the lair, if things goes south.
------uwu----
“What kind of early 2000s Scifi shit is this?” Jason muttered as he walked into the open room. The room was large and open, there were a few capsules on the side. They all appeared to be filled of ectoplasm. Large cables connecting it to a large machine, with bulbs on the top glowing a bright green much like the swirling contents in the open hole of it. Lines of vials decorated the wall behind the pit, all glowing different colors, but green was still the primary. “Oh! The portal to the ghost zone! That's what I was feeling.” Danny almost sounded relieve, as if he expected worse. Jason didn't like the swirling tugging feeling in his gut, that seemed to pull towards the open portal. He felt the dread, much like the blob ghost or the pit. Danny jogged ahead to get a good look at the room. He hesitated to look at the capsules.. not sure if he was relieved to see them just filled with ectoplasm or not. He furrowed his brows confused, taking in the wall behind the portal. He walked to the side of the portal to get a better view of the vials. Danny took out one of the vials, to get a better look at it. It had to be ectoplasm.. but this one was glowing purple. Was it residual? From one of the animals? Or a random ghost? A shiver went down his spine, forcing him to put it back. It felt wrong. He turned back around to see what Red Hood was doing, a bit surprise he still hardly moved from his spot. Took Danny a moment before realizing why. “Oh, yeah, its a bit weird to be around it. I have one in my basement, so I think I just got use to the weird feeling after a while.” Danny walking towards Jason, unconsciously trying to be the barrier between the portal and Jason. “That's in your basement.” Jason stated more than asked, just to confirm to himself that that was the machine his parents had just out in the open. He shook it off, rolling his shoulders. “So, what did you find about the vials?” Danny glanced back at the wall with a frown, “I.. don't know. I think its.. residual ectoplasm. I don't know why Vlad has them stocked.” “Think its the animals we didn't see?” Jason asked, as he glanced around the room at anything but the portal. “...” Danny went silent, looking at the ground.
Jason took Danny's silence for a yes. Glancing to the side, he noticed boxes stacked off to the side. He walked towards them to get a better look. They looked like specially made containers. He grunted as he shoved the lid off of one. Looking inside, there were black containers lined in their own casing. He pulled one out, and whistled. “Found the source.” Danny turned around, raising a brow, then recognized the black shaped item Jason held in his hand. “Battery?” “Yeah, these are empty, but I'm guessing not for long.” “Great job, Little Wing!” Dick come jogging in, “I just finish downloading files.” Danny frowned, staring at the flash drive in Dick's hand. Dick noticing, smiles at Danny, “Don't worry, Casper. I didn't keep any information about your clone or the actual cloning process. That data is being deleted as we speak.” “Casper is my high school, thanks.” “Really?” “Heads up.” Jason tossed empty battery at Dick, barely warning him in time. Dick fumbled catching the battery, giving a look at Jason. Jason just grinned, as he walked over. “Same thing, right.” Dick took the time to look it over, as did Danny. “Definitely the same thing my tongue was on. But why would Frootloop do it?” It didn't make sense to Danny, because that would have seemed more dangerous for them in the long run. “That's what we're here to find out.” Dick chimed, then added quickly by the look Danny gave him, “And to save your parents.” Danny puffed away a smirk, but suddenly choked on his own breath. He gasped, as the mist leak through his mask. Jason and Dick didn't need any more warning than that to pull out their weapons. “Too bad you won't be doing either of those.” Plasmius's voice cooed, but he was no where in sight. “Plasmius, show yourself!” Danny, clenched his fist, instinctively trying to charge beams. Flinching with a hiss. A laugh echoed, “My dear boy, now why would I do that? Though I must admit. I'm quite curious how the Gotham brats got here. I didn't think you were close.” “We decided to crash here for the night, get to know each other. Maybe work on our issues.” Dick grinned but kept his stance ready to defend any sneak attacks. “Yeah, issues like a middle age ghost that needs to learn boundaries, which I'm happy to oblige to teach.” Jason was trying to locate the sound of the voice, his stance covering more for the flank and back side of the trio. “Among other things.” “Honestly, thanks to you that they're here.” Danny chimed enjoying not being the only one talking shit, as he pulled out his blaster. He tried to clench tight to the feeling in his chest. Figuring out where it was pulling. Silence filled the air. Danny and the others felt the hair on their skin rise, never lowering their guard. Danny was cursing internally not being able to sense Plasmius's direction, but he knew he hadn't left. No, it was worse. “Duplicates-AH” Danny felt a tug on his ankle, pulling him half way into the ground. He struggled to pull back up, praying the intangibility didn't wear off. “Dan-Argh.” Jason was flown up into the ceiling, repeatedly being slammed against it. Dick was able to graze out of a grasp, with a flip, shooting the empty space behind him. Whatever he hit dissolved to goo. Dick scrambled back to Danny, helping him out of the ground. Danny muttering out a thanks, glad not to be stuck. “You ok-” “Watch out!” Danny shoved Dick back once free, as a beam of pink flew by and slammed Danny into the wall. Danny coughed, hand over where he got hit. Dick didn't have much time to react after the blast as a few more fired at him. He kart-wheeled, to dodge four of the blasts. Trying to keep track where they were coming from. He landed back on his feet, lowering body to the ground, then sprinted aiming towards the source. Just as he fired, Jason was slammed against him. Causing Dick to crash and tumble into the ground. The green beam connected, causing the empty space to dissolve into green goo and disappear. Dick coughed and wheezed, as he and Jason pushed themselves back up. Keeping low to the ground for
now. “Honestly, expected more from the heroes of Gotham. Quite a shame. But I guess ghosts were never your forte, were they?” Plasmius finally revealed his form, looking smug. His arms crossed, as he floated above them. The smug smirk didn't last long as a green beam his his face. Making him cry out. Apparently this was the real Plasmius. Danny standing up from his spot against the wall, ecto-blaster aimed directly at Plasmius, “No, but they're mine.” Plasmius snarled, glancing back at Danny. Jason and Dick took their chance, shooting at Plasmius while he was distracted. Plasmius cried out before phasing into the floor, going invisible again. Jason and Dick were up on their feet, hurrying to move in closer to Danny. Both to check him over and keep together. “How do we keep fighting something we can't locate?” “You'll get a hang of it, plus he can't keep it up forever. It takes conscious effort to be invisible, intangible, and duplicate.” Danny explained as he let Dick check where he been hit. “So a stamina battle. Great. How long does it take for a ghost to get tired?” Jason huffed. “Uh.. usually an hour or two.. if they're going at it non-stop.. normally.. maybe four?” Danny brushed Dick off, not wanting him to examine the scorch in his shirt much longer. It didn't hurt, much. “That's a long time for a fight, Danny.” Dick stated, at least one like this. Not liking that they got their asses handed to them so quickly. “There's a reason I don't get sleep.” “You know, you would if you gave up your silly heroics.” Plasmius's voice echoed again. Danny frowned, glaring into the empty space. Jason and Dick pulling Danny close to them, this time more prepared for what Plasmius might do. “All you have to do is renounce your parents and join me. We can run an empire. Your sister too.” “Parents? Not just Dad? Did you finally realize Mom will never love you? Could you tell me what the hint was that clicked so I can make you understand why I will NEVER join you?” Danny scoffed. A growl grumbled in the air. “I haven't given up on Madeline, because unlike you boy, she CAN be replicated.” “And there's the crazed Frootloop I know. Honestly surprised that I was your first choice in cloning.” Danny was still on edge, but was able to fake confidence so smoothly. Jason felt a tingly sensation just above his left ear, he didn't hesitate to shoot up at it. Causing the invisible duplicate to dissolve and disappear. So that's how you fight him. Dick giving him a confused expression, Jason signaled he felt it. Silently implying he'll explain later. Danny looked a bit surprised too, with a frown as he stared up where Plasmius was. He shook it off and prepared to fight. His eyes taking in the area, they were crowded to a wall, which didn't offer any protection. There was ectoplasm everywhere- He was an idiot. Why didn't he try to absorb some? There was a portal right there! But Plasmius could lock him out too. Unlike his parents, he did have a door that could keep ghost out. He wouldn't have to go in it.. not all the way- even just the filter or perhaps break the capsules... though he was more wary of them.. just in case it wasn't pure ectoplasm. Apparently, he wasn't the only one thinking it as the doors on the portal closed. “Can't have you at full strength again, can we? Wouldn't be half as fun.” Plasmius revealed himself, but this time focus on dodging the shots fired from Dick and Jason. Danny putting a hand up to stop them. “The portal could explode.” He kept his voice low, Plasmius staring at them with a smug smirk. “How bad?” Dick was little afraid to ask, as they stopped firing. “It could destroy everyone and the area surrounding the lake that isn't a ghost.” “Smug Bastard. Anything else we should avoid?” Jason growled, as Plasmius made it clear he was toying with them. He was flaunting in front of the portal, posing, egging them to shoot. “Anything with high concentration of ectoplasm?” “That's concerning.” Dick frowned considering where they were located.

Chapter 16: An Understanding
Warnings: this one really isn’t bad, just a droid death and sappiness.
Author’s Note: Thank you to anyone who has supported this. We are almost there!
(If this is your gif please lmk!)
Tumblr media
The sweet moment between the three of you was quickly ruined by a distant explosion, so the Mandalorian woman quickly rushed you all out after she quickly gave Mando a gift.
A Mandalorian jet-pack.
You had seen other Mandalorians use them in the past, and Mando seemed incredibly honored to have one, so if Mando was happy, you were happy.
The team followed the tunnel towards the smell of sulfur, trying your best to track the lava flats. You didn’t have much of choice. That was the only way out.
As you walked down the tunnels, you held the sleeping child in your arms, keeping him close to you. Mando walked next to you, stealing glances at you as you walked. You would glance back, but he would always face forward once more, trying to make it seem like he wasn’t starring. You would always smile at him when he would turn away, obviously embarrassed.
Who knew you could make a beskar covered warrior like that be embarrassed?
You felt at peace. At home. For once you actually had one. You didn’t even know how to describe the feeling. It’s like your anxious brain and beating heart finally subsided. Like your body relaxed, and you had nothing to fear. Sure, the team was still stuck in these tunnels and the exit would be swarming with stormtroopers, but you had backup. A team. A clan.
It felt like a new start.
Once you finally made it to the river’s edge, a boat was leaned up against the land. It had obviously seen better days and the droid inside hadn’t been used in a long time.
Great.
Mando and Karga tried pushing the boat, but that did no use, so Cara raised her rifle and shot the boat free from the hardened lava.
You smiled at her and chuckled, thinking about the fact she had outsmarted a Mandalorian and a well known Guild member. You were not surprised in the slightest.
You could’ve sworn she laughed back.
Everyone climbed into the boat, and by some miracle, the droid inside sputtered to life. It stood up, raising its paddle and dropping it into the orange liquid beside it. It then said some droid gibberish, which IG-11 presumed was a request.
“I believe he is asking where we would like to go,” IG said.
“Downriver. To the lava flats,” Karga said, and the droid set to paddling.
Mando was to your left, while Cara was at your right. The child had woken up once more, using his energy to chew on your thumb. Mando brought his hand up to his helmet, activating the thermal scanners.
“That’s it,” Karga yelled, pointing to the growing light coming from the end of the tunnel.
“We’re free!”
It had been a long time since you had heard something like that.
“No,” Mando said, squashing your elated mood.
“Stormtroopers. They’re flanking the mouth of the tunnel. They must know we are coming.”
“Stop the boat,” you said sternly to the ferry droid. The droid, however, gave no sign that he actually heard you.
“Hey,” Cara said firmly, walking up to the droid.
“She said stop the boat,” she said before shooting the droid’s head off.
You appreciated Cara’s act of defense for you, you really did, but it didn’t do any good. The boat kept moving.
There was no other way. You had to stand and fight.
You pulled your longspear from your back and tucked the child deeper into your arms. You had fought stormtroopers before, why would this time be any different?
“They will not be satisfied with anything less than the child,” IG said, and you turned your head to look back at him. Your confused expression accurately represented the feelings of the rest of the group as well.
“This is unacceptable. I will eliminate the enemy, and you will escape.”
“You don’t have that kind of firepower pal,” Mando said in reply.
“You wouldn’t even get to daylight.”
“That is not my objective,” said the droid. “I still have the security protocols from my manufacturer. If my designs are compromised, I must self-destruct.”
“What?” you asked the droid.
“I am not permitted to be captured. I must be destroyed.”
The droid looked at Mando and said, “Sadly, there is no scenario where the child is saved in which I survive.”
“No,” Mando said, moving closer to the droid.
“You’re not going anywhere. We need you.”
“Please tell me the child will be safe in your care,” the droid said, now looking at both you and Mando.
“But you will be destroyed-” you began to say.
“And you will live,” IG said. “I will have served my purpose.”
He looked to Mando and said, “There is nothing to be sad about.”
“I’m not…. sad,” Mando said, but you were no where near convinced. His voice was the only way for you to humanize him, and emotions were very easily traced on the voice. When you can’t see someone’s face, the voice is all they have. You had gotten good at that.
It seemed IG had gotten good at it too.
“Yes, you are. I’m a nurse droid. I have analyzed your voice,” IG said before coming to the child and brushing his hand along his forehead.
No matter how little Mando wanted to deny it, the droid was your saving grace.
The droid then stepped into the boiling lava, and started making its way down towards the exit.
You watched the droid with wide and curious eyes. You had never seen a droid be so… selfless. You had always seen droids as mindless robots who only acted out of survival, but this one gave its life for you.
You wished you could repay him somehow.
When the detonator on the droid finally exploded, the child in your arms lifted his ears and watched. Even though the droid had been there for a small time, he was still the reason you and the child were alive. It seemed like the kid was loosing a friend.
You could see the pain in his eyes, and you wished you could take it all away from him and put it into your own.
Once the boat finally drifted into the tunnel, you saw the bodies of the stormtroopers on either side of the bank.
Maybe this actually… worked?
But, like many… many… times before, the scream of a tie fighter ruined all chances of an easy departure.
“Moff Gideon!” Cara shouted before raising her blaster and shooting at the aircraft. Mando and Karga immediately joined her, while you used your longspear to shield you and the child from any blaster fire.
The ship’s canons rained fire on the group for a couple seconds before the ship went roaring completely over your heads.
“He missed,” Karga said in relief.
“He won’t next time,” Mando said. The ship was already starting to turn back around.
“He mentioned he knew you,” Mando said to you, referring to when he was trapped in the town not even an hour before this.
“Yeah….” you said.
“I’ve pissed him off,” you chuckled out, and Mando looked at you with a breathy laugh as well.
“Hey,” Karga said suddenly. “Let’s have the kid do the magic hand thing.”
Oh great, you thought to yourself.
“Come on baby! Do the magic hand thing,” Karga said to the kid while wiggling his fingers.
The child only giggled in your arms and waved back, and you let a light chuckle come out of your nose.
“I’m out of ideas,” Karga said.
“I’m not,” Mando said, turning around to get the jet-pack from the boat.
You watched him walk away with a slight smirk on your face. You believed in Mando more than anyone, and you prayed he had enough training to know how to use that thing.
You saw the tie fighter making its way back to you through the corner of your eye, but you continued to watch Mando. He attached the pack to his back and then locked eyes with you before shooting into the sky like a rocket.
You watched him with a beating heart as he flew right in front of the tie fighter, allowing it to go under his feet. He then hooked his grappling cable onto the wing and used the jet pack to propel himself onto the cockpit window.
Even though you were scared out of your mind, you still managed to smile at the sight above you.
Your Mandalorian was incredible.
Mando’s blaster did almost no damage to the cockpit door before Moff Gideon jerked the ship to the left. The ship was starting to spiral, and your awe quickly turned into worry.
Mando was holding on with everything he had.
He all of a sudden let go and went soaring through the air. The left side of the ship completely exploded, which sent the ship careening to the ground. It burst into smoke on impact.
Barely a second later, your Mandalorian landed before you in a slight crouch, before standing to his full height.
The smile on your face said it all.
He chuckled slightly at your shocked and happy expression before taking the child from you and holding him in his arms. You walked to stand beside him and stare up to his face, proud and joyful.
You got a Mandalorian.
Karga and Cara stood before you two with equally shocked expressions
“That was impressive Mando,” Karga said. “It looks like your Guild rates have just gone up.”
You grinned at Karga, enjoying his little tease.
“Any more stormtroopers?” Mando asked.
“I think we cleared the town,” Cara said with a laugh. “I’m thinking of staying around just to be sure.”
“You’re staying here?” Mando asked, equally confused as you were.
“Well, why not?” Karga asked. “Nevarro is a very fine planet, and now that the scum and villainy have been washed away, it’s very respectable again.”
“As a bounty hunter hive?” Mando asked, and you once again giggled at his bluntness.
“Some of my favorite people are bounty hunters,” Karga said with a bit of a chuckle.
“And perhaps”- he said while placing a hand on Cara’s shoulder- “this specimen of a soldier might consider joining our ranks.”
“And you, my friend”- he said while turning his attention back to Mando -“will be welcomed back into the Guild with open arms.”
Mando looked to the child in his arms, beaming up at him with utter adoration. He then looked to you at his side, and you gave him a smile that said I’m with you. With whatever you choose.
“I’m afraid I have more pressing mattors at hand,” he said, turning his head back to the child.
“Well you better keep watch of this one,” Karga said to Mando while gesturing to you.
“She could take your place at the Guild in a second,” he says, while snapping his fingers for emphasis.
“And she would do a damn good job,” he says, and you laugh in reply.
Mando gives a slight nod in agreement which only makes you laugh harder.
You can’t recall ever laughing this hard.
“Y/n,” Cara says, and you divert your attention back to her.
She is trying to look at you, but she just can’t meet your gaze.
“Listen… I… I’m really sorry. The Empire hurt me a lot and I just couldn’t…” she chokes out.
You could tell she was trying to apologize to you. For when your identity got revealed, for doubting your loyalty, or anything in between. She was obviously struggling, so you decided to help her along.
“Cara,” you said, and her eyes met yours.
“Your reaction was perfectly understandable. Truly. There is nothing to be sorry for,” you say, and a flash of relief skates over her eyes.
“I just saw how you were with Mando and the kid today and I…. I owed you an apology,” she said, and you smiled at her.
“Thank you, Cara. I’m glad we could come to an understanding,” you respond, and she smiles back at you. A genuine, relieved smile.
“As am I,” she says while leaning forward to caress the child’s ear.
“Take care of this little one,” Cara said to you and Mando. You gave her a respectful nod, acting as a promise that you would.
“Or maybe,” Karga added, “it will take care of you.”
You looked to Mando with a light smile, and you could tell he was grinning too.
The weight of guilt and shame had been lifted off of you. The people you cared for most forgave you. They looked at what you did right in the eyes, but looked past it, and saw you. You were sure it would take some time for them to completely trust you, but they were willing to try.
You couldn’t ask for anything more.

Okay I could not resist any longer. For the comfort prompts: “just breathe. breathe with me.” with hurt Obi-Wan and caretaker Anakin? YOU’RE AMAZING THANK YOU 💕💕💕
“just breathe. breathe with me.”
you know I couldn't resist mixing some search-and-rescue whump with claustrophobic obi-wan. thanks for the prompt!!
It was almost dark when they finally dug him up.
The building had gone down that morning—a rogue bomb had triggered a sinkhole, bringing the whole Republic base to the ground in a matter of seconds. Only a few troopers had been inside, thankfully. The medical team fixed up the survivors as they were found, while Anakin led the rest of the troops in the search.
But by sunset, there was only one person unaccounted for.
"Status report, Commander."
Anakin approached Cody, who straightened immediately.
"Still no sign of General Kenobi, sir," he answered. "There's an area of the rubble that's particularly thick, and it's blocking our scanners. It's possible he's down there—but we haven't picked up any life signs yet..."
"Well, do better, Commander. "Possible" isn't good enough."
If Cody was taken aback by the sharpness in his tone, he didn't show it. He offered Anakin a stiff salute. "Yes, sir."
"Sorry, Cody. That was..." He exhaled. "I'm just worried."
"I know, sir."
"Yeah." Anakin ran both hands through his hair. "But I shouldn't use that as an excuse. You're trying your best. We all are. And he's—he's your..."
He didn't finish the phrase. Sensed Cody probably didn't want him to anyway. But it didn't matter, because suddenly they were both whirling around as a trooper's voice called out:
"We've got him, sir! He's here!"
And then they were both running.
The trooper was holding a scanner over the rubble, and it was all Anakin could do not to rip it from his hands. Anakin dropped to his knees and tried to probe through the ground with his mind, searching for a familiar life Force. And yes—it was weak, but it was there.
"I can lift the rubble away," Anakin said.
"Sir, respectfully, any movement should be approved by the engineering squad; the mass is unstable, and might collapse—"
"Fine, then. Show me which rocks to move. But do it fast," Anakin snapped, then huffed. "How far down is he?"
The trooper consulted the scanner. "About 10 meters, sir."
"And his air supply?"
Neither Anakin nor Cody missed the trooper's hesitation. "It could depend on a number of factors," he said cautiously. "It's...in our best interest to move quickly."
"Roger that."
And so Anakin and Cody began distributing orders, mobilizing the rest of the team and planning the most effective movements. Obi-Wan had always excelled at this sort of thing, Anakin thought—at leadership in the midst of disaster.
If only he were here now.
When he'd gotten approval from the lead engineer that the rubble was ready to move, Anakin pulled Cody aside.
"Commander...there's something else," Anakin said quietly. "When we pull him up, have a medical team ready. But no one else. There's...well, we want to give him space."
And so, even knowing Obi-Wan would be furious, he gave Cody the abridged version—how Obi-Wan wasn't fond of being trapped.
He couldn't bring himself to explain why.
"Sir, can I ask one question?"
Anakin nodded.
"General Kenobi told me once...well, how his Master died," he said. "Does this...his aversion to being confined...does it have anything to do with...?"
"Yes."
Cody nodded.
They left it there.
Anakin could feel the troopers watching him as he closed his eyes, their awe and neat disbelief rippling through the Force like waves. He used their hope, their light, to harness it now—to begin to lift the rubble.
The time passed quickly—at least for Anakin. When the sounds of the troopers' voices began to fade back into his consciousness, Anakin lightly set the rubble down and opened his eyes, unsteadily rising to his feet.
And then he heard the coughing.
"Sir," Cody said. "We've uncovered him, but the rubble on either side is unsteady. We have to extract him quickly."
"Send me down," Anakin said.
And he didn't wait for an affirmative.
Anakin rushed to the edge of the pit he'd created when clearing the rubble, peering over the side. Then, he leapt down into the crevice.
"Obi-Wan!"
Anakin pushed back some more rocks he'd been advised not to move, and slid beneath a slab of concrete. And there, coughing into his dirt-caked sleeve, was his Master.
Obi-Wan was sitting with one leg outstretched, bandaged with a piece of his tunic to quell the bleeding. The other knee was pulled to his chest, his arms wrapped around them tightly. His face was coated with dirt and blood and ash, his eyes wide.
He was breathing fast.
"Hey," Anakin said, relief and worry flooding him all at once. "There you are."
"Anakin. I--" His voice was more of a rasp. "The air—I still can't—"
"You're okay. Hey, you're okay." Anakin sunk to his knees and reached for Obi-Wan's wrists. "We found you. And we're gonna get you out."
Obi-Wan nodded. His eyes were dull. "Please."
Anakin pretended not to notice how his voice broke.
With a quick squeeze of Obi-Wan's arm, he crawled back under the concrete slab to call up to the others.
"Got him!" Through the dust, he could just make out Cody's face up above. "You can toss it down!"
A few moments later, the rope landed in front of him.
Anakin crawled back to Obi-Wan. His eyes were closed, and his breathing sounded more like a wheeze.
"Hey. We're gonna help you up, but you need to breathe. Breathe with me, okay? Nice deep ones."
Obi-Wan shook his head. "Can't."
"Yes, you can. Listen to my breaths, and--"
"No, I can't." He swallowed, wincing. "Hurts."
Oh. Anakin looked him over. If he was breathing shallowly, and the air was thin in here...
"Are you dizzy?" A nod in response. "Think you can crawl through there, then stand?"
A shrug, then a nod.
"Okay. Now your knee doesn't look good, so take your time with the crawling. After that...I've got you. You'll be fine."
He sounded sure. He wished he felt sure.
The crawling was painful for Anakin to watch--Obi-Wan's breathing came harder and more ragged until at last he popped out on the other side and rolled to stretch his leg out again. It looked like it had started to bleed again, too.
"There we go," said Anakin. "Hard part's done. You ready to get out of here?"
Obi-Wan seemed to be beyond talking at this point. He offered just another nod.
The rope had a few knots and a loop at the bottom, a place for Anakin to put his feet and somewhere to grab. Anakin tugged to let Cody know they were nearly ready, then turned back to Obi-Wan. He was still on the ground. Eyes closed again.
"Don't go to sleep on me now, old man," Anakin said. He went around behind Obi-Wan, reaching under his arms. "On three. You try to stand, I'll lift. One...two..."
Obi-Wan cried out as he put weight on his leg, and soon enough Anakin was holding him up almost entirely. They hobbled over to the rope again, and Anakin got them situated. Then, he tugged the rope one final time.
"See?" Anakin said. He was holding Obi-Wan up, and Obi-Wan's head lolled against his shoulder. "I told you I've got you."
He nodded into Anakin's tunic. And up they went.
Both of them tumbled to the ground the moment they reached the top.
"Medics!" Anakin called out, even as they already rushed forward. Obi-Wan cried out as they turned him over. There was a stretcher nearby, and Cody waited behind it. He couldn't even fathom the willpower it took Cody not to rush straight to Obi-Wan's side. Force knows I don't have it.
Kix and the other medics lined Obi-Wan's sides, to where was lying on his back. "Sir, we're going to lift you onto the stretcher."
Obi-Wan hummed. "Thank you."
The first two words he'd uttered since they'd first found him. As the medics lifted him, Anakin winced at the sharp breath he choked out.
"Kix--the base was destroyed," Anakin said. "Do we have enough medical supplies to--"
"Affirmative, sir. We don't have a lot to spare, but we have enough," Kix replied. They began to push the stretcher toward the ship. "My first assessment indicates the leg wound isn't deep. Potential fracture in the ankle. And probably a punctured lung."
"Sheesh, Master, you weren't kidding--you really couldn't breathe," Anakin said. "I thought you were just panicking."
"That too."
The subtle humor took Anakin by surprised, and he looked down to the stretcher. Obi-Wan gave him a small smile.
"Thanks for coming for me," he said softly.
"Obi-Wan," Anakin replied. As the stretcher moved along, Anakin reached down and squeezed his shoulder. "You know I always will."
