Isn't it fun how everyone saw what terrified them most, but Nya's was so "unbelievable" that she broke out instantly? She was shown the one thing that was supposed to terrify her, make her spiral. But of course it wasn't real. It's Jay. If there's one thing she never once doubted, its that Jay is absolutely smitten, so of course he'd never forget her. What a silly thing to think, to be afraid of. She went through so damn much for this boy, and him for her, and we know how she is. Wouldn't it be petrifying if all that work, all that emotional turmoil, that clawing for love, could be forgotten just like that? Its quite a feat, really, that she can finally be confident in knowing such a fear is irrational.
It was easy to break free from such a place. It was only ever meant to scare her, and she has nothing to be afraid of. Right?

The construction crew confrontation scene is one of my favorites for Ken, solely because of his facial expressions. In the first few moments, Barbie is using a lot of big words he doesn't understand, but he's nodding along anyway, brows furrowed, head tilting back. He's also struggling to put his skates to a stop, swaying slightly while Barbie had stopped effortlessly (which is even funnier because Ryan Gosling said he really struggled to rollerblade for this film while Margot Robbie had no problem from her time filming as Harley). He's nodding along, not following a word but completely agreeing with everything Barbie says, because she's Barbie, and she's right, there are entendres that appear to be double picked up within all of those little quips! He, uh, totally knows what that means!
When Barbie says "I do not have a vagina", he smiles with a proud nod. He actually does know what she's talking about, now, and she's right, she is a doll and doesn't have a vagina. You tell 'em, babe. He loves her. She's so smart.
But when she adds "...and he doesn't have a penis; we don't have genitals", Ken is immediately alarmed. His entire attitude towards the conversation shifts completely. It's true, he knows it's true, they're dolls. But he's already stressed about what this construction crew thinks of him.
For his first few minutes in the real world, he was euphoric at everyone looking at him, what he thought of as people admiring him. He sees men in a position of power for the first time in his entire life. He cares about what these men think of him. He's always felt self conscious as a Ken doll made for a Barbie who doesn't return his built-in, handcrafted affections, but now so more than ever, he is already starting to base his entire self worth on the opinions of real world men, the same way he did with the Kens. These men have dicks. He doesn't. In this world full of men in power, he doesn't want them to view him as Not Man Enough, which under the surface of that when you dig deeper into those feelings is really just Not Enough in general.
This is why Ken allows Barbie to skate away a few feet before he turns to the construction workers with a sense of urgency in his voice and stammers "I have all the genitals". Not even "she's just joking, I do have a penis" it's "I have all the genitals."
I just love it.
