Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! But I've really fallen behind in the last year - it's not great. But I aim to reply to most comments even if they are massively late. I feel if someone has taken the time to leave a lovely comment, I should acknowledge it.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

This is hard to choose because many of my stories have bittersweet endings or endings where ultimately it may end up being okay but by the current end of the fic, it's ambiguous.

In terms of longer stories, Trouble Seems to Follow leaves the main pairing in limbo, with secrets between them that are almost certainly going to have terrible consequences. Or maybe A Darkly Lit Path as the corruption arc is set up but never full explored.

Overall- it may be, You Have to Let Go, one of the Whumptober 2021 ficlets but lol, pretty much that whole series is an an angst-athon. I kill major characters, there's several possessions, some deals with demons, etc.

But I was looking through my archive and umm, yes. Many many angsty stories. The next question is going to be interesting to answer.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Heh. So the thing is, I rarely write pure fluff. Big believer in making the characters work for their happy ending! Ummm - let's go with For How Long. My fav The Last Hours pairing was not going to be canon, so I wrote them a happy ending.

Do you get hate on fics?

Nope. I've had a couple comments where commenters seemed confused on why I wrote certain characters or situations but they've never been hateful.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yep! I used to write more mindfuck/hate-fuck and dub-con inhibition lowering fics but I think nowadays I tend to write smut where it's integrated as a conduit for exploring messy, intense feelings, and some good examples would be Talking Bodies and Shadow to the Light.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Very occasionally! I think the craziest one I wrote was a loooong time ago. A Black Donnellys/Supernatural crossover called Shake on Your Luck about Dean winning some luck in a poker game with a leprechaun and I had an absolute blast writing it in a folkloric, storytelling style!

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

A long time ago in Harry Potter, I wrote a few. More recently @belle-keys and I started a co-writing project that may or may not ever see the light of day, but it's been fun so far! I've also done some collabs on Big Bangs - most recently with @widadsadki and @skloomdumpster. I enjoy them! But wouldn't consider myself a regular co-writer.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Let's go with one of my longest-standing ships, who I've never written for but they likely inform/influence a LOT of my id when I'm writing - Eugenides/Irene from the Queen's Thief series.

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

None! I still have plans to return to all my current WIPs on Ao3, it just may take time.

What are your writing strengths?

Worldbuilding/expanding on canon. Exploring minor character backgrounds. Characters finding catharsis through challenging situations. Angsty/ambiguous endings.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Straightforward happy endings or fluff/slice of life fics. Humorous writing, I don't feel I'm often great at dialogue - sometimes it does click but I have to work at it. My writing background is journalistic so my style feels often quite 'workmanlike' and sturdy without being lyrical.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done it before but only in languages I have passing knowledge of - French and Spanish. I don't have strong feelings either way if authors do it?

First fandom you wrote for?

The second Xman movie, X2. Yes, the one that came out in 2003. Yes, I've now been writing fanfic for 20 years!

Favorite fic you’ve written?

Ooh, this is the toughest question - I think stylistically Effortless and Confluence are my best works and so they are probably my favourites. But I have a fondness for Love Letter Scorecard too!

i mostly post about stranger things but there's way more bc it seems like ive been collecting them like rocks since i was 11 so i'll divide the up into two categories: 1. ones i post about/interact with every once in a while and 2. ones i don't particularly post about/interact with but i might reblog if i see it on my dashboard :)

› english isn't my first language. despite the fact that i've studied and made myself comfortable with it, i might confuse myself with the language still. i will gladly accept corrections on any spelling errors, as long as it is voiced politely.

› i won't write about real-life people nor will i write about non-book characters. that is because i don't tend to dwell into other pieces of media, so if your request happens to be inspired by a character from, per example, a movie or tv show, i ask you to be specific ⸺ i won't be able to write otherwise.

› i write both for both nsfw and sfw, so as long as the character's story and personality are respected (no, i won't write smut with kaz). reader is mainly female or neutral, but i won't mind writing a male one if asked to. the gender of each story will be specified in the tags.

› i am a part of a lot of fandoms. this blog will mainly have stories of sjm-related characters, but that doesn't mean i'm not willing to write about other universes. apart from the two characters in my fixed post ⸺ kaz brekker representing the grishaverse, and grace blackthorn representing the shadowhunter chronicles, ⸺ i'll gladly write for any character so as long as i've read the books. if you're wondering whether i write for a certain character, all you need to do is ask.

› i'm not against writing about younger characters, but i won't write about underage ones. to me, writing is connected to personal comfort. if the character behaves in a childish-manner or isn't at least 18, i won't write about them.

› be polite. before sending in a suggestion, make sure to use the words 'please' and 'thank you'.

› self-insert is about leaving vague physical descriptions. you will never see me mentioning the length of the reader's hair, the color of their eyes, their biotype and etc. therefore, i will be ignoring suggestions that are too physically specific.

Introduction

Hi, I'm Ezra, or just Ez, I don't mind. I'm a genderfluid bisexual and any pronouns are okay.

This page is literally just going to be fanfic and if I've read a really good book I might post it here. But it's just a little fun idea that I wanted to do.

I've also got 2 very unfinished and barely started fics on Ao3 so that's fun.

Anyways, hello, if you've found this page you're pretty cool and, when I get around to posting stuff, I hope you get to read it.

Requesting

If you do want to request something, 1. I will be eternally grateful, and 2. I will have a couple of rules -

I will not do smut of any kind. I do not feel comfortable writing it so I will not do it.

I prefer to do 1st or 3rd person stories of pre existing characters but I'm open to try a 2nd person one if its requested.

If there is a fandom that you want to ask about to see if I'd write it, send it and I'll see, I may have forgotten to put it there.

When it comes to requesting, I will try and get around to any and all that get sent in (under the requests bar at the top of the page) but it may take a while if I'm having a struggle with motivation or school is killing me and taking away my free time.

I believe that is it, hope you enjoy what you see here when I get round to posting something.

some random YA book opinions: multifandom

- My dream cross-over meetup would be between Matthew and Jesper like there would be bants and partying, what's not to like??? I feel like they'd immediately click as besties

- Nesta is the most screwed-over character I've seen in a while, holy shit like even the narrative of that novel is just there to screw her over as a character, she deserved so much better I could write an essay on dis

- Best book friendship to ever exist is Heronstairs, idc @ me all you like, like this is the kinda bond you just can't replicate

- SJM's fae behave just like characters in ABO fics do like they're the SAME

- Harry Potter is bigger than JKR, like that shit has evolved finely over time, especially with how big the Marauders fandom has become and I think HP should damn well continue to be milked for all it's worth

- what the hell was From Blood and Ash like lol

- Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare are two of the few authors who've shown they can consistently start and complete multiple compelling fantasy series

- Ngl, the sexy fae era and the sexy witch era are a bit pretentious at times: feels like the sexy vampire era was more self aware

- The Shadowhunter world is fundamentally eurocentric... I mean Cassandra Clare has tried to make it more universal but let's be real, it's slightly too late for OG readers to not recognize that the world was pretty much made to pay homage to the western canon

- I think Ketterdam is an excellent setting, it's meticulously built and quite immersive but the whole Grishaverse itself as a world is quite... well, it's hilarious how different cultures are just smushed together as if they're supposed to mirror our world equitably like lmfaooooo

- Eris' character arc better not be a Rhys part 2 like he has so much potential to be a multidimensional anti-hero or anti-villain but he might just end up being a Rhys part 2 and I hope not cus imma-

- Kanej deserve their hype as a ship. It's not just cus the no-touchy thing, but it's just refreshing to see two characters feel so much for each other while the world goes to chaos and have it be a secondary thing amidst this huge plot... like normally there's a build-up of sexual tension in a romantic relationship but that was absent with Kanej so it was interesting seeing them express affection in other ways

- Shadow & Bone TV series > original trilogy

- Jude and Cardan are a sexy asf couple but I, personally as a person, just do not get how on earth this girl forgave Cardan for everything like I just don't get it but that must be a me thing

Imagine Types:

Most imagines will be written in the second person with a gender neutral reader unless something else is explicitly requested, or I feel a different writing style will work better.

One Shots: They’ll always be written in the first person. I will try to make them more than 1000 words (less than 3000) and involve the situation that you want to see; if I cannot get the word count up, I’ll tag it as a drabble. You can give as much or as little detail as you want and I will try my best to stick as closely to it as possible.

Prompts: Give me a sentence, word or song along with a character and I’ll write something based on that - less than 500 words each.

Drabbles: These are like prompts but off an idea rather than a specific. They will be between 500 and 1000 words.

Headcanons: Send in something that you want me to think about and I’ll write down my initial thoughts about the situation - a few bullet points probably and as close to canon as I can get them.

Preferences: Send me the fandom you want them about - and if there’s any specific characters you want me to include otherwise I’ll pick a few that I thought about - and I’ll write a few sentences about what I think would happen in relation to the given preference.

Near Misses: Send me the character you want for this and I’ll write a little instance of them watching each other but never catching the other‘s eye. If they’ve already been done you can request another one; they’re like prompts so less than 500 words.

Requirements:

I don’t write smut.

I’ll try to write some triggering material as I know that reading things can sometimes help people; it will all be tagged as ‘Trigger Warning,’ with one that has the warning after colons as well, and I’ll put a header that alerts people to the triggers.

I won’t write romantic things with a known huge age gap.

I reserve the right not to write for a request if it makes me uncomfortable, if I have no inspiration or if it goes against any of my requirements. I will always try to message the person - or let them know - if there’s a reason I can’t fulfil a request.

3. The Kids Are Alright (Are We?)

so this is a product of a lot of talks with @natearchie about nate/dan/blair and how we love Dan having kids (specifically Milo but this is an au so). Basically Dan/Blair were dating in high school, Blair got pregnant, and was then separated forcibly.. in the meantime Dan ended up marrying Nate over the years and adopting a girl... and then both kids then meeting up in the same elementary school

.... and now i'm trying to write chapter three and i'm struggling

4. Shut Up and Kiss

this is a Shadowhunters highschool/human!au focusing on Jimon. I'm literally so close to having finished this, as @takaraphoenix likes to remind me lmfao, but the problem is I had originally written this with another huge sh ship that the fandom very much ruined for me and so I'm struggling trying not to re-write the entire thing and that struggle is making it hard to just write the last few chapters lol

7. Grishaverse College AU

this is basically a "the crows are in a frat house and the og crowd is in a competing one" where they are all human (yeah i realize i have a trope) and it's great and fun and for this one I'll give a snippet lol:

Muscles sore from the long gymnastics practice after her Intro to Criminal Law class, Inej is ready for home and even more, her bathtub. Laughter belonging to Nina and Jesper greets her the second she opens the door, and she searches for the source after dropping her gym bag by the doorstep. Chaos isn’t abnormal to her any longer, but as she enters the kitchen she's actually surprised to see Kaz in the middle of it.

Nina is barely holding on to the corner of one of the kitchen counters with how heavy she’s laughing. Jesper, Wylan, and Kaz sit at the large circular table, providing quite the scene. Wylan is handing Kaz water bottles that Kaz is chugging amidst a demonic glare he points at Nina, and Jesper is lazily sitting back amongst them with a grin that’s interrupted by chuckles.

“What is going on?” she asks, and while Wylan jumps at her voice, the rest of the gang is barely distracted by her entrance. It’s almost insulting, at least until Wylan answers.

“Kaz was pissed about the hair incident and decided to eat Nina’s brownies out of spite, not realizing that they were weed brownies.”

Nina is still half-way wheezing, although she moved from the counter to give Inej a hug. Jesper is failing at hiding a smirk as he taunts Kaz. “Water isn’t going to prevent the high, you know that?”

“I’m going to murder this entire household. Inej go spend the night with Zoya.” Kaz spat in response, his glare flickering from Jesper to Nina again.

“No, I think I’ll stay here,” Inej replied, finding a smirk falling onto her lips despite herself. “It’s time your spite got the best of you.”
