I see you were on the receiving end of one of cannoli-reader's massive rants about how much he hates Egwene al'Vere. That guy is incapable of being rational about her and basically thinks she's a Darkfriend - he's notorious in WOT fandom for being obsessed with Egwene to levels that even other Egwene haters think is a bit much. I think he searches for posts about her just so he can rant about how much he hates her. Disregard.

lol, I have them blocked! there was a period where they were combing through my blog and leaving comments on a bunch of my posts, and I didn’t even mind a lot of our differing opinions but the egwene post did it for me because it was very vile. I appreciated their ability to write elaborate analyses but it wasn’t going to be at the expense of basic truths intrinsic to the foundation of the characterisations and storytelling - no analysis is ever going to have any ground to stand on when it refuses to acknowledge very basic canon; if you can’t trust those very fundamental facts (for example, that egwene and moiraine are good people who make lots of questionable decisions because they’re flawed and have a bunch of personal traumas influencing those decisions or that elayne is a very empathetic and kind person and not… a spoiled and pampered princess who takes advantage of the dumb redheaded villager) then I can’t pretend that those posts are in good faith or even in defence of RJ’s supposedly inviolably precious canon because they come at the expense of personal biases and (unconsciously or not) stem from some degree of disrespect to his work. a refusal to engage with their larger place in the story indicates that the analysis was never going go be worth its salt anyway. I often trust more readers who hated the books at this point, tbh.

#like. people tend to do that a Lot in this tiny fandom. they discover meta and/or personal issues w/ the books and come up with painfully #wrong explanations for what they think rj might have been trying to do. min and tuon and galad get so many bad faith interpretations that #despite my indifference to them I’ve also developed a reflex protective instinct.#honestly just prefer the view from outside 👍 I don’t trust any posts except the ones that my mutuals make.#asks #anonymous #anyway. they’re characters!!!! they’re not real!!! rj was often more concerned about their Thematic Significance & you should be too!!!!

the bear has left me feeling quite numb i’m not gonna lie.

this will definitely be my least favorite season. it just feels like THE MIDDLE ™️ i need to see how the whole story concludes, where our players end up to give a final verdict

and y’all… don’t make me have to defend claire but someone saying it was out of line for her to be at the friends and family night, when she is clearly both to the berzatto’s, is ridiculous.

she has a relationship with sugar. richie literally touched foreheads with her in the middle of service. carmy just presumably asked her to be his gf the night before. im not into her or the plot line but she is a friend and was potentially on her way to being family.

slowly (once again) coming to the realisation how little my parents actually care about me. diasppointed to report it doesn't hurt any less the nth time around

#any time i show signs of distress and am in need of help? they turn/walk away to leave me to deal with it on my own #to snap out of my 'dramatics' and be normal again. just like they've always done as long as i can remember #no wonder i automatically repress it to the point of forgetting. until something puts me in a vulnerable position again #and the cycle repeats and repeats and repeats and repeats #i cannot expect any type of emotional support or care from my parents. this is a fact. they cannot give it. they have shown that they cannot #like yes i get a roof over my head and food to eat and other basics (for a monthly fee) but nothing beyond it #this is how it is. i cannot change them. i cannot make them care beyond the bare minimum #brain demons say i demand too much. am too high maintenance and should be happy with what they are willing to provide #but my brain demons are evil little bitches. but also i cannot trust myself. no gut instinct in this meatsuit

For the moment i'm stopping myself from writing a full essay about it, but jesus, bros is a bad movie. It drives me up the wall that billy eichner blamed homophobia for the movie flopping, when in reality he made a script that alienates the majority of queer audiences through his self-insert character that's so high and mighty and gate-keeping about queer identity. It would be one thing if the character was written in a way you're supposed to hate, but no, we're supposed to root for him. He's the misunderstood "niche" protag -- a thing actually said, this cis white gay dude is supposed to be "too niche" because he's...angry?. He's gay(er) Holden Caufield. To make it worse, every few scenes they have a white character (usually billy's) acknowledge that trans women of color have driven the queer liberation movement and that cis white gay men take up too much space, and then proceed to have their cis white gay protagonists take up all the space and paint all the nonwhite characters as vapid, or make offhand jokes about how nonbinary kids have it easy because "we had AIDS and they had Glee."

This is already more than I meant to put on here but lord I'm annoyed lol
